A/N: This chapter is a bit of a let down in my opinion, but we finally got something about what happened to Y/N's dad. Happy Reading!

Cairo met up with Y/N before the day of the meeting. Cairo was smiling, walking to her like there was nothing wrong. But Cairo's smile faltered immediately as soon as she saw Y/N's distant face. She was not smiling, she didn't look happy like she usually does, she was not welcoming Cairo in her arms. There was nothing.

"What's wrong, babe?" Cairo finally asked when she got in front of Y/N.

"Drop the charges against Mr. Miller." Y/N went straight to business.

Cairo furrowed her brows. "What? I was just doing what was supposed to be done. He was going to fail me for midterms." Cairo reasoned but Y/N was having none of it.

"He gave you a chance, didn't he? He told you to write another story. Why didn't you?"

"Because! I wanted to write something different, I know I can and I did! If he can't accept that I did way better than he would ever be, then I'm sorry."

"Why are you doing this, Cairo? You're gonna ruin his life, his career, for what? He's a great teacher and you know that, so why?!" Y/N shouted, making Cairo flinch as she saw the anger in Y/N's eyes.

"Baby, please." Cairo tried to hold Y/N's hand but it was swatted away, making Cairo furrow her brows, pain written all over her eyes. "You're supposed to be on my side. I'm your girlfriend, I am the victim here."

Y/N stayed quiet, staring at Cairo who was looking at her with pained, pleading eyes.

"You seduced him, didn't you?" Y/N finally spoke, vindication in her voice. Cairo's eyes widened with the accusation, tears streaming down her face. "You seduced him, because you thought he was an easy target. You seduced him so you could get an inspiration to write on your admission essay. And then you turned to me."

Cairo's head was shaking at this point but Y/N continued on. "You know as well as I do that even if I fail a class, my GPA would still be far ahead of yours. I'm in the way of you being the valedictorian, of you putting something in your portfolio. You used me, just like how you used Mr. Miller and Winnie. Because that's what you do, Cairo, you use people."

"You don't know what you're talking about, Y/N so stop right now." Cairo said, her voice shaking as she stared at Y/N who was standing tall in front of her, her eyes cold and emotionless.

"You know what you are, Cairo? You're a fucking trash in this world. You and your kind, spoiled rich girls who would do anything just to get what they want, to get what they need just because they can. Everyone who loved you... Winnie, Mr. Miller, me, even your fucking parents gave up on you because you're a fucking trash!" Y/N got a slap on the face because of that. But Cairo immediately regretted what she did.

The taller girl turned to face her with a devilish smirk. "Your kind killed my father... and I will not let you do the same to Mr. Miller." Y/N said before she walked away from Cairo who slumped on the wall, tears flowing down her eyes, sobs being heard in the silence of the night.

The meeting started with the directors questioning Mr. Miller and Cairo in the same room. There were certain instances that they would have the same answer but usually, Mr. Miller's answers were on the safe side while Cairo's stuck with her answers during her talk with the Vice Principal.

Everything was falling down bit by bit for Mr. Miller when Y/N was called inside the room to be questioned as well.

"Will you testify against Ms. Sweet?" One of the board members asked Y/N who nodded.

"Yes, sir." She answered, not even giving Cairo a glance.

"How do we know your credibility on the matter?" Another director asked.

"Cairo Sweet is my girlfriend, or rather, was my girlfriend. I know it would seem a little bit off and you might think I'm doing this to get my revenge on her but I'm not. I've been Mr. Miller's student way before she was his student so I can vouch that I know Mr. Miller better than Cairo's ever known him." She spoke with precision and confidence.

The board of directors looked at one another before the head nodded. "Thank you." Y/N said.

"What do you know about Mr. Miller's extracurricular activities outside the class? Did you ever see them leave the school together? Did Mr. Miller give favouritism towards Ms. Sweet? Anything you know." One of the directors asked.

"I might've seen them together once or twice outside of school, but it did not seem anything intimate. I saw them at Vanderbilt once, they were talking, I didn't see anything wrong with it though. It's a poetry parlour, they're both writers." Y/N said, slightly twisting the truth for Mr. Miller's favour.

"And the other instance you saw them together?"

"I was riding my bike on the way home, I'd pass by Cairo's house before I got to mine. I saw Mr. Miller pulled up in front of Cairo's house. I thought it was weird seeing him there but I also saw him giving back her phone. He left after that. She even told me that herself."

"What?! What are you talking about? You weren't there!" Cairo was getting frustrated. If anything, she knows Y/N's stories sounded more credible than hers, but for some reason, she still couldn't find it in her heart to hate this person who's ruining her life.

"Mr. Miller did not deny when he was asked if he entered the house, Y/N, I'm giving you one chance to tell the truth." Vice Principal Manor told Y/N who turned to her with a pointed look.

"Miss, you know as well as I do that the accusation of a student against a teacher for inappropriate relations outside of school is not easily overlooked. Whatever Mr. Miller's gonna say to you, there would always be suspicions in your mind if he was telling the truth or not and yet, you could easily believe a student without proof? Why is that?" Y/N said, slamming her hand on the table, making them jump in their seats.

"Calm down, Ms. Y/L/N. We just want to get to the bottom of this, on why Ms. Sweet passed an inappropriate print of a short story, telling us that Mr. Miller agreed to it." One of the directors said.

"But he didn't. He gave her another chance to change the short story, he did not accept that story. Look, I lost my father, because of a case like this—" she was about to be stopped but she stood her ground. "No, I promise you this is relevant. Please." She said, looking at all of them. And when no one said anything or protested, she continued.

"My father was a professor back in Australia, one semester he had a student who was so wise for her age. He was amazed by her. Like Mr. Miller here, he showed favouritism, gave her special treatment, if you must say. But like Cairo here, she mistaken my father's favouritism for something different, something inappropriate. And when my father told her that it was strictly a student-teacher thing, she blew up. Reported my father, told baseless lies about him until he was gone, his career, his reputation, all gone. No one stood up for him. And then he shot himself in the head."

Y/N could see the uncomfortable fidgets of everyone inside the room. She could hear their thoughts loud and clear. But she was not done yet.

"So why do you think, Ma'ams and sirs, would I lie about something as incriminating as this? You're crucifying this man, who by the way, did nothing wrong. What? Because of a student, whose ego is so bruised by the rejection of her teacher? She was the one who came on to him, not the other way around, I can assure you that much." And she was done.

There was silence inside the room for a couple of moments before the head cleared his throat and straightened himself up. He gave Y/N a small smile before he nodded.

"We'll take your words in heavy consideration with regards to this case, Ms. Y/L/N. Thank you." He said.

Y/N nodded once. "I hope you make the right decision. Thank you for letting me talk." And she was out of the door just like that.

She waited outside of the meeting anxiously, her legs are bouncing and she's even paced back and forth until the door opens and out goes Mr. Miller.

"What did they say? Did you lose your job?" Y/N asked anxiously, staring at her teacher who smiled at her.

"Suspended. For the entire semester so I won't see you be a valedictorian. They took your words for it. Thank you." Mr. Miller said, holding a hand on Y/N's shoulder.

The taller girl smiled widely. "You're not gonna lose your job. But what are they gonna do? Students would speculate and all that. Are they gonna release an announcement?" She asked, her brows furrowed.

Mr. Miller nodded. "To prevent further rumours and speculations from ensuing, they're gonna release an announcement saying that all charges against me are dropped and untrue."

"How about the lady wife?"

"We've already filed for divorce. It's better that way."

"That's too bad. But hey, for what it's worth, maybe you'll find inspiration to write again." Y/N said with a huge smile, slight back handing her teacher's arm which made him laugh.

"And how would you know that?" Mr. Miller asked, looking at her with a knowing smile.

"Because I know that when I get to Harvard and you happen to have it in yourself to finally release a book, that I would brag to my mates that my English teacher back in Tennessee wrote it and would laugh at how unique it would be." Y/N said, a flash of pride seen in her eyes as she said that.

"You talk too much, let's get some coffee."

"You gotta apologize for being a dick to Coach Boris, you know? He's kinda like your only friend in this town." Y/N told her teacher when they got their coffee and finally sat down.

Mr. Miller hummed, looking kind of guilty as well. "I really do need to." He agreed.

"Buy his biscuits." She joked which made him laugh. "No, but seriously, Mr. Miller. Take accountability for what you said to him. He's not actually quite wrong, you know? He wasn't cleaning his own dirt, he knows it's there, but he owns up to it. I'm not saying that what he's doing is right, but you know what I mean."

Mr. Miller nodded, giving her a small smile. "Sometimes I forget that you're still young." He said, smiling proudly like a father.

"People tend to think of me that way, yeah." She smiled before they continued to talk about literature and harvard.

Ahoy! This has been a fun chapter to write! A few important characters are introduced in this chapter and emotions are building up in [Y/n]. For a little context, Koby is living in the Monkey household because I said so :3

"He's going to kill me, Hawkins."

You worried as you strolled through the halls with your fellow loner. The poor textbooks were suffocating from your tight grip.

"Who is going to kill you?" Hawkins inquired for clarification.

"Eustass." You eye the hallway for any of Kid's crew. Only when you noted no signs did you turn your back as you reached your locker and opened it.

"Don't you think you're being overdramatic, [Y/n]?" It's rare for Hawkins to brush off your worry, but it only happens if he already read the cards.

"No, I'm not. I might know how to avoid ticking him off with words but actions are an unpredictable minefield, and I might have set one off." You stressed taking your backpack out of your locker and shoving your books inside.

"Why don't you just ask-?"

"I can't ask him!" Your words straining through your teeth, looking at Hawkins as if he suggested you should spoil the ending to a popular franchise to a bunch of die hard fans. "Because if he wasn't mad before then he will be since I planted that idea in his head. I'll be dead either way."

"I was going to suggest asking his friends..."

"Oh..." You turn back to your locker and grab your binders to put them in your backpack. "I don't know about that either..."

"My club starts in 5 minutes, I believe Heat and Wire will be there, if you'd like, I could inquire for you," Hawkins offered.

"Really?"

"But you're coming over tonight to practice your math."

"What? Nooooooo, come on. Can't it be for lunch tomorrow?" You pouted.

"It can't be helped, remember? Your family only allows you to go out if it's for homework."

Your face grims. "That's right." 

Thing is, it's more complicated than that.

"I'll let you know when I'm home, try to remain calm until then." Hawkins rested a hand on your shoulder.

"I'll try."

With that Hawkins takes his leave.

A sigh escapes as you finish packing your bag, mind filled with dread. Closing your locker door, you turn to head off when you see Law two lockers over, closing his locker. He notices you and smirks.

Fuck. Your cheeks start burning as you know exactly why he has the smug look. Bastard won't let you live down your embarrassment from two years ago. You face your locker, ignoring him. He seems to get the message and walks away. Once you're sure he's gone, you hit your head against the locker. Sadly it does nothing to shoo the memory of what happened in gym class. Great now your face is heating up more. Why did that have to be the reason he knows you exist?

"Stupid dodgeball!" You kick the locker next to yours. "Stupid teammates!" Another kick. You're at least grateful no one else witnessed it since it only happened early game, and Trafalgar hasn't bothered spreading rumours about it, not that it'd do any good in school since no one knows who the invisible kid is. However, you had a feeling, he would use it as blackmail over you if he knew how.

Gripping the straps of your backpack, you exit the hallway. Most students have disappeared to their clubs or already left the building, you take extra precautions sneaking around now that you have no cover. Your hand finally reaches the exit doors, opens it and you step outside.

"Hi [L/n]."

"AHH!" You jump out of your skin, startling the boy who greeted you. Your eyes flicker to him, calming down. "Oh, it's just you Koby."

"Sorry, didn't mean to scare you." He bashfully scratches the back of his neck.

"Just don't do it again." You subtly place a hand on your chest, feeling your heart rate return to normal. "What are you doing right next to the doors anyway?"

"Drake said these are the doors you normally use," Koby explained, you gave him a weird look and for a moment you thought he was going to bring up seeing you with Kid at lunch, until he elaborated. "I wanted to walk home with him so he told me to wait with you."

"Oh? So that's all?" You double-check, raising a brow. He nods, so you gesture for him to follow you. "You know my dad doesn't like Strawhat's grandpa, it might be a problem if I walk home with you."

"It's alright, we'll be stopping by my house first so you and Drake don't get in trouble."

"Right." Your voice becoming monotone.

A moment passes as you stop at the meetup tree, Koby looks up at you, worry written on his expression. "...You seemed to be on edge earlier."

"I'm always on edge," you blatantly reply. "Most people just don't realize or scare me like that."

"Sorry..." Koby looks away, seemingly dropping the subject.

Guilt nips at your heart, you don't want to make him feel bad. Though as much as your conscience yells at you to comfort him, you don't. It may be selfish but if Koby associates you with this feeling after greeting you, he's more likely to ignore and avoid you. It'll help prevent future eggshells from being broken and getting you in trouble, so you hope.

A notification from your phone goes off. You grab your device, turning it on to see who it is.

New Message from [Leader Eustass Kid]

You were about to open your phone to read it when you noticed Koby perk up.

"Hey Drake!" Koby greeted his friend.

"Hey Koby, [Y/n]." Drake nodded in acknowledgement.

"Hey..." You briefly wave.

There's a bit of an awkward silence, Drake staring at you as if wanting to ask how your day was and you avoiding eye contact, not wanting to interact with him. You began walking, Drake and Koby following in tow. Koby begins rambling about something Luffy has done. You're grateful Koby came along now, Drake's attention is on him and not you. 

With room to breathe, you pulled out your phone and checked Kid's message.

[Leader Eustass Kid]

Where were you at the end of lunch?

Crap, he did notice you disappearing. Not good. Should you make a likely excuse? ...No, you have a feeling he'd know a bullshit excuse when he sees one. Just keep it brief.

[You]

I left

Lunch was over so I left

. . .

Your eyes anxiously stare at the loading dots, his response being typed. Fingers tapping to the rhythm of the flow. Fear sits on your shoulder to watch the screen.

Say something before you leave next time

Right, he'll be inviting you again when your project's over. Reminder aside, you can't tell the emotion behind his text. Whether he's mad or letting it go, you'll only know when you go over to Hawkins tonight.

"Koby! No club today?" Garp asked welcoming the pink-haired boy home.

"Nope, the club president had to plan some things for next week so I got to walk home with Drake today," Koby chirped entering the house.

"Great it's lasagna night. You can help out with the cooking."

"Yes sir." Koby turned to you and Drake who were standing outside. "Thanks for walking with me, guys. See ya tomorrow!"

"See ya, Koby," Drake said. You just waved bye until Koby disappeared from the doorway.

Garp turned to the two of you. "Do you guys want to stay for dinner?"

Drake shook his head. "I have to work tonight."

"I need to get home before it gets too late," you decline chewing the inside of your mouth, wanting to leave already. "Also I don't know anyone here."

"Nonsense, you're friends of Koby, and I'm sure my other grandsons would be happy to have more guests."

"More guests?" Drake raised a brow.

"Yeah, Ace has his friend over-" Garp explanation got cut off when there was a crash in the background. "THE HELL DID YOU BREAK THIS TIME?"

"oH NO! RUN YAMATO!" Ace warned.

Garp left the doorway, off to scold the boys. Drake narrows his eyes and goes to enter the house when you stop him, a tight grip on his sleeve. Drake looks back to you, your face is neutral yet your hand is shaking.

"Can we leave?" A small demand.

Drake doesn't say anything, glancing from you to the house. You could hear something fall over and it causes you to flinch. Drake looks back at you, sighs and starts walking. Internally, you thank him as you release your grip on his sleeve. Your stroll is silent for the most part until Drake inquires you.

"Who were you texting early?"

"...Hawkins," you lie. "I'm going over to his place tonight to practice my math. My dad won't tolerate anything but the best."

Drake hums, believing your lie sprinkled with truth. It wouldn't be the first night you'd go study with Hawkins, and as for texting others, he knows just how small your contact list is. It pays to be known as a ghost amongst those who do know the invisible kid.

You'll have to change Kid's contact name, you can't risk getting caught. It's fine if Hawkins knows you're talking to Kid, you trust him, but not Drake.

The two of you near the front door of your home, you unlock it and enter inside. You glance around, seeing your father's workers frantically running around, too busy to greet you. Good, your brother's antics made you invisible.

"I'll go inform your father where your brother is," Drake told you as he took off his shoes. "They're probably wondering where he snuck off to. You can let one of your uncles know you'll be studying at Hawkins tonight. We don't want them thinking their other child snuck out later."

"Right..." You slipped off your shoes, observing Drake leaving to inform your dad.

You're thankful to your brother, yet at the same time, you wish he put more thought into his actions. There were consequences, and it affected more than him.

Hi, happy spooky month, I have a ✨manga rec✨!! And in the spirit of the season, it's a horror story! >:3c

I want to spoil as little as possible because I went into this manga essentially COMPLETELY blind and, honestly, imho, I imagine it's the ideal way to experience the story. I literally first heard about it from a random youtube comment on a video about an entirely different manga--one which, mind you, had VERY different themes, which colored my preconceptions and added to the surprises for me later on!

ANYWAY, what I mean by all that is I'm going to start with the simplest possible summary of the premise, and if that's intriguing enough for you to give it a shot, then I recommend diving right in!! But, if you still need more of an in-depth, slightly spoilery rec? Then I'll gush a bit more under a cut to see if I can hook your attention.

With all that out of the way,

The Summer Hikaru Died is a horror/supernatural story about a high school boy named Yoshiki whose best friend (Hikaru) went missing in the mountains outside of town. What comes back is... something else. It looks, acts, and talks like Hikaru, but it's not him, and Yoshiki is the only one who seems to notice.

The only other thing I knew going in was that the commenter made a brief mention of the "Hikaru"-thing protecting Yoshiki, which seemed odd but intriguing alongside the rest of the premise.

So if that's enough for you (plus the fact that I'm telling you I haven't stopped thinking about this story since I read it two weeks ago), then please check it out! There are only 5 volumes so far!! Suffer through the wait for the rest with meeeeee ಥωಥ

I know what you're thinking, and YES, it appears to be BL between the TIMID HIGH SCHOOL BOY and the ELDRITCH HORROR WEARING THE SKIN OF HIS BEST FRIEND.

And it's SO GOOD.

No SERIOUSLY, for real though, I had NO inkling going into this that it was even in the realm of possibility that it would involve romance

Let alone a nuanced, slow burn, VERY QUEER romance layered with ruminations on grief and identity and one's relationship to society

(ON THIS NOTE, I must advise up front that I DO NOT KNOW if this story will end in tragedy... It's still ongoing, after all! BUT, I think either way it will be an amazing story and... maybe I'm just delusional, and though this may be considered spoilery in itself, the most recent chapters have me optimistic that we might indeed be on track for some sort of happy ending... eventually.)

Anyway, I cannot express enough how incredible it was to uncover this aspect of the story organically without knowing about it beforehand. Born and raised in a rural village, Yoshiki is deep in the closet, and that's reflected in how subtle the hints are at the beginning. Over time, it starts to become clearer and clearer, but always with a layer of plausible deniability, at least if you're not expecting it to take such a queer turn. ("Hikaru" literally makes a ton of "no homo" style jokes early on, which... god don't get me started--)

As you might guess, Yoshiki had feelings for the real Hikaru before his disappearance, and ooh boy does that affect how much the grief and guilt and fear play into things. It's delightfully fucked up.

So yeah. I 100% expected the plot of this manga to revolve around the intrigue of the monster finding out Yoshiki knew its secret, the fear of not knowing when the monster would strike next, etc, but NO! That particular "reveal" happens within the first 10 pages, and then the entity just kind of... lives the life of a high school kid! He's kind of a little shit, but for the most part, he's a nice boy! Yoshiki is the only one who knows who "Hikaru" really is, but much of the tension comes from him having to come to terms with that, rather than the fear itself.

...and also the OTHER horrors and mysteries. There's tension there too, considering it's where the actual plot lies, lmAO. Just because "Hikaru" isn't a totally evil monster doesn't mean there aren't a lot of grotesque and scary things in here. Most of this manga I would classify more in the "supernatural" genre than "horror", but in those moments it DOES delve into horror, it goes pretty damn hard. I remember more than one moment where I felt sharp regret about reading it in the dark at 2 a.m. 💀

Still, if you dare, it's worth the read. I can't recommend it enough.

P.S. I wouldn't say it's a "funny" manga but it does nonetheless have an amazing sense of humor. There are a handful of actual jokes and gags that did have me rolling, but more importantly there's an unspoken, implicit acknowledgement of how absurd this all is, in that way only good self-aware horror can achieve. Take the main character Yoshiki for example. The image I used of him up above? The unsettling camera angle, the haunted look in his eyes? That's just how he always looks. The panel after that one shows that all he's looking at on his phone is a text from his sister reminding him to pick up wasabi flakes.

P.P.S. There's apparently an anime adaptation coming out sometime? I'll probably watch it, but I expect something will be lost in translation. We'll see, I suppose.

*- To be precise: Yoshiki is gay. The creature that takes Hikaru's place has a more nuanced (and alien) perspective on sexuality, and... I'll leave it at that.

Bodyguard!Din is one of my favorite things ever, seriously. I have only read the first chapter of this, but I'm so excited to read more. The way the whole first part of this fic is a flashback and you know eventually you get kidnapped???? It gives you this feeling of doom the whole time you're reading lmao (good thing, I promise) but like... our Mandalorian is gonna save us, yeah?

Listen... this is the most well researched Din fic I have ever read. The amount of thought that went into this fic is insane. The linguistics are fascinating -- I think she absolutely nails the voice of everyone in this fic, especially Din. The knowledge of Mando'a and Ewokese on display here is incredible and if you ever wanted to hear Din Djarin growl strings of (actually coherent) Mando'a (with thorough translations) right into your ear... This fic is for you. The characterization and the way that every single decision made by Reader and Din make sense and build to such a gorgeous character arc? UGH. And while you have to wait... a long time... for smut -- it is so worth it. GODS this fic is gorgeous. I love it so fuckin much. (This is the one I was talking about in the intro)

Butterfly Reign: You know this one, it's the angst full and oddly yellow one. I always end up finding out it updated a day before it released how does that keep happening?. It's a good read, the characters get deeper the more you read it, and yet even with all their hidden lore and ok ish intentions I still want them to suffer because I'm a spiteful bitch. Unreliable narrator to you I believe him.

In the name of the fucking moon: Its a magical girls AU with the benchers and the family, more on the old school monster of the week type of magical girls but with continuity. If you imagine the scenes in your head while reading please add an 80's anime filter over it. Fun to read 👍 I got halfway through and I'm waiting for it to finish so I can binge it.

Guided evolution: Only read this if you have a lot of free time or the time management skills of a lawyer because this here is 300.000+ words and incredibly good. Every chapter I do nothing but worry for my spider son. Hasn't he been through enough I ask, while seeing I'm on chapter 52 out of 75. I know the answer, and it only serves to hurt me.

How to be the biggest trainer ever: Crimeboys go in a pokemon adventure. A very friendly fun read, like the pokemon anime but with your favourite white boys having fun 👍the world is set on gen 1 I think, so use that soundtrack

The stars and their children: Ive only read till chapter 5 and that's enough to know its good (also the fact that I follow the author here on tumblr so I get spoiled every once in a while hehe) This one is more sandduo focused and it has cool sci fi monarchy and it's also very near to end?? I didn't know that. Guess I'll get up to date then. Star tommy did nothing wrong I haven't seen him do much of anything but if he does in the other 19 chapters be aware he did nothing wrong

By the morrow: this one is weird and interesting in the most enticing way possible. What the fuck is going on. I must know all the reasons behind what is happening here. It can be quite macabre so be aware. I only found this one because the author posted the updates to tumblr. Oh yeah the synopsis, superhero au where the ctommy is a nobody who dies and fucks around the town in his ghost form but shit hits the fan incredibly quickly.

Who the ever loving fuck made me a prince: Its an Isekai yipee, our main boy (el ctommy) reads a book where a kid prince dies. L. Then he wakes up as that same kid!!! Oh no!!! Good news is he's reincarnated right in baby zone so he has plenty of time and skill to make sure won't die 👍, its fun, if you like isekais and don't mind some anime trope baby ism then you will live another day

Proof that life hates tommyinnit personally: This is a mystery!!! Spooky!! With touches of angst, perhaps more than some touches but hey the thrill!! The search!! I enjoy the use of the "it's not paranoia if they're really put to get you" tag. Its one of those fics that if it ever gets dropped I would go to the authors house to ask how was it supposed to end. I need. To know. Oh yeah summary: el ctommy is homeless and has many friends in a local mall who don't know that. This is only one (1) of his problems as he's recently gained a stalker, and everything points to being someone he knows ?? Question mark?? Fun.

TommyInnit's Declassified Vigilante Survival Guide: Ah a good old vigilante fic, just like mama used to make. it checks all the marks: benchtrio living together, villain sbi, when the family is founded, heroes yet bad?? and introducing a cool new power to the boy, what a joy! It is funny and it is cool

Our love it's like a burning sun: you've heard of racconinnit, birdinnit, ratinnit, cat shifter innit, possumi- hm I haven't heard that actually, anyways get ready for Red Panda innit, here's a red panda shifter who runs away from mean kingdom and goes to nice kingdom where he can find some family. And sometimes that's all you need to face the horrors

Thunder on my bones: ANOTHER superhero au listen man this one is good trust me. We have superhero boy being sidekick to mean superhero then gets moved to nice family of superheroes and the family is found :)) but also there's villains that want to fuck him up , uh oh! How will they found the family in this conditions! I also really like the design of the tommy superhero outfit, it has a really nice detail that I love imagining in my head ^^

Given my WIP addiction, I'll tell you I'll never write it and then accidentally start writing it next week. :D

But probably Sith Master Sifo-Dyas and Sith Apprentice Dooku AU - I love their fucked up dynamic, but let's be real, this would turn into PWP. Oh, that, or a Tales of the Jedi fix-it, where Dooku actually escapes Sidious with Yaddle, and ends up training Anakin.

Oh, um, yes, all of them!! :D I'm a compulsive rereader. If there's a fic I've left a comment on, I've probably reread it a few times (and will be going back to reread it a couple times more!) The one that jumps to mind especially right now is @purple-ant's Pray My Mind Be Good to Me - I'm helping with beta translation so I've gotten a lot more of it than is currently posted and I'm spending a lot of time thinking about it both as a reader and as someone who has been privileged enough to beta. I don't want to spoil anything, but it… it is asking some really fucked up, gorgeous questions about love, shame, hate, survival, and... and love. I'm really intensely interested in how the story is playing with those themes.

How much planning do you do before writing?

A lot!!! ….which actually, generally involves a lot of writing. I write out big pieces, usually wildly out of order, and then if the plot is coming together, write out a really incoherent outline/list of notes/scraps of dialogue. And when I say incoherent, I mean… this is an example from a fic I'm working on:

I keep wanting to share a funny line because I think my favorite stuff is actually my dialogue, when Dooku and Sifo-Dyas get going back and forth like they do, but I really like this line from Five Days to Murder Sifo-Dyas because it's kind of my thesis statement for all my fics. It's hard writing hopeful stories about doomed characters who are set in a particularly doomed era - you know, what's the point of loving prequel era characters if they all constantly lose and fail and suffer?

“Sifo-Dyas.” The half-Sith studied him, emotion billowing like volcanic clouds. “You aren’t a fool. Why did you come here if you knew that might happen? Why did you remain my friend for decades of our lives if you always knew that this was a possibility?” His voice rose almost to a shout. “Why are you still being kind to me?!”

The words rang around the huge, empty room, like a challenge that went unanswered.

“I didn’t believe it would happen back then, and I still don’t.” Sifo-Dyas told him, looking down into his mostly-empty bowl. “And even if I did, why would I throw away decades of true friendship just because of a potentially uncertain ending? If you murder me right now, will that go back and erase the times when we were genuinely happy? Stars, remember the day of our Choosing tournament, when you wouldn’t let me lose, and we fought the most absolutely perfect duel?” He still smiled at the memory, even now, all of these years and chapters of sadness later.

“I remember.”

“Life isn’t any less incredible just because there’s death waiting at the end of it, even a bad death. The beauty doesn’t go away because there’s also pain. Even after a great loss, the love lives on.” Sifo-Dyas hadn’t meant to bring up Qui-Gon, but he could sense they were both thinking of him.

When he spoke, Dooku’s voice sounded slightly rough, as if his throat were still bothering him. “I do not think that normal people would see it that way.”

I've been stuck in a loop of saying "oh my god" and screaming for the past hour 'cause of what happens in chapter 5 & 6. Let's hop to it, starting off after where I left off my previous session...

The other mask variants we see in the launch trailer are just recreations of the famous bag man mask. And with this next detail I'm about to bring up, I'm pretty sure the proxy theory is done for...

In the same TV segment where the other bags are revealed to just be recreations we meet... well...

HIM. GUYS THAT IS THE EXACT SAME FUCKING TRENCHCOAT WE'VE SEEN THE SMILING MAN WEAR. AND ISN'T IT CONVENIENT THAT HE'S COVERING UP ALMOST ALL IF HIS FACIAL FEATURES??? THIS IS THE FUCKING MAN BEHIND THE SLAUGHTER. FNAF REFERENCE VERY MUCH INTENDED THANK YOU.

There was this one shot of him that I couldn't get (since I was screaming and shouting at this reveal) where you could see his eyes. I'm not gonna look up a playthrough just to get that shot so I don't put myself at risk of being spoiled but his eyes were pretty big and gave me Legend of Zelda BotW corrupted dragon eyes/TotK dragon Ganondorf vibes. Very purple...

In this crazy reveal we learn of the existence of the illusive Emiko, somebody this guy used to know. Naturally because of this person having such a similar name to the funny bag man, I had to do some research...

EXCUSE ME WHAT. SMILING CHILD? IN THE GAME ABOUT THE SMILING MAN??? HUH???

I THINK MY CHILD THEORY IS RIGHT IN SOME WAY. SURE I INITIALLY GOT THE NAME WRONG 'CAUSE OF THE TWITTER ACCOUNT BUT I WAS ONTO SOMETHING.

Sure, this could very well mean that the aforementioned Smiling [Child] mentioned in the TV segment is actually the culprit but I have my doubts a kid killed those girls 18 years ago and Eisuke, especially with a detail from chapter 6...

Anyways, with this reveal and another detail from chapter 6, I don't think Fukuyama did anything anymore. What is that detail exactly? Well...

We find out why Fukuyama was acting weird in chapter 6. It's 'cause he wasn't comfortable with Megumi confessing her love for him to him. So, not only did he not kill Eisuke, he wasn't hiding a body, either (my apologies sir lmfao)...

MEGUMI SAW EMIO AND LIVED TO TELL THE TALE. SHE RAN AWAY IN THE MIDDLE OF CHAPTER 6 AND TRIED TO USE THIS SPECIAL SPELL TO WARD OFF THE SMILING MAN (a spell I will refer to as the Smiling Spell) BUT FORGOT THE WORDS TO IT BUT OUR MAIN CAST WAS ABLE TO FIND HER BEFORE THE FUNNY BAG MAN SAID THE FUNNY BAG LINE.

Also pay attention to the fact Megumi never says anything about the Smiling Man looking child sized or anything like that. Yeah there's no way it's a kid doing all of this.

... Holy shit these chapters turned this detective story about solving a murder into a goddamn telenovela lol. This shit's getting REALLY interesting. I'm super excited to keep playing the rest of the game. Mystery Dude who's definitely the man behind the bag, prepare to be unmasked for real!

I totally messed up my prev message, it's all 100% azul/idia for me. This made me download the game and see the twitter tags, oh boy I was wrong. First, the game is super hard and I already have little free time(also super fun so I don't get study done) second, I already know what happens in ch7 :") , third, I still don't care it's great and fun still for me. But could you please recommend your source of where you watch the story, it didn't even occur to me I don't have to play.. Impossible to finish. Ohh, I’m sorry you got spoiled! It’s great that it didn’t ruin the fun for you, and I actually agree, twst is such a journey that even after seeing the spoilers you just have to witness everything yourself lol We were aware about a bunch of things story-wise when we first started watching it, but the experience itself was still such a fun and wild ride.

Playing the game is a huge commitment; it’s also quite heavy on the phone, so we gave up on it quite quickly (plus, adding VPN and screensharing to that was too much). Watching makes it easier for us in terms of discussing the events anyway.

When it comes to the source, the short answer would be youtube. There are uploads of both the official EN and fan translations, although for some chapters one option is more difficult to find than the other.

The official translation is alright, I guess, but there is a bunch of lines that were completely rewritten for some reason. Creative liberty, I guess. So if it bothers you, I would advice to check out the fan translations; they are more literal, but closer to the original overall. We started out with the official translation, but have been watching fan translations since Chapter 5, which was a good call, because that chapter was fucking butchered in the official translation, so I’d keep that in mind.

This is where we watched the Prologue and Chapters/Books 1-4.

With fan translations, we enjoy the ones that Ekala provides; they seem quite competent and leave notes about some words and phrases/idioms that are always interesting to read. We watched a couple of events there + the beginning of Chapter 6. But since the translation for the latter one stopped at some point (that happens a lot with this channel, unfortunately), we continued watching it at the OtomeAyui channel, where we also watched Chapter 5 + pretty much anything else that we couldn’t find. The translations are more rough there, but they’re very fast with their uploads and have a lot of stuff.

God I’m happy and excited that you’ll get to experience the story for the first time, I hope you enjoy it!

New update on my long ass fuckin fanfic. I'm struggling 😭 like I've been going back and fleshing it out more and more and adding so many more chapters just to the beginning so that it actually makes sense and now I'm in a rough spot which lasts a YEAR. Like. I knew trying to make this story go over 5+ years was gonna be quite difficult but. I never expected that my writing would get in my own WAY!!! I have borders I can't pass yet due to info added later on in the story about it (literally about a year from this point) and I'm trying to figure out side quests that would work but it's hard!! Bc like!! I can't do covenant with Nick, can't do silver shroud or Cabot quests without Mac (mostly thanks to details later in story, and also I want her and Mac going to hubris for the first time together). So I have like ~9 months where my girl Julia is just suspended in fucking space with no idea what to do with her. Like. I'm thinking. Vault 81, then covenant, then they do their own thing for a while, then we get to the good stuff. (Not trying to spoil my own fic here, I doubt it'll be this easily readable as I'm explaining it to be. This is gonna be at LEAST 6-10 chapters over the course of a year too so... Yeah!) I think I may add in some random stuff too? Trying to have it be as little filler as possible, but when you're going over the course of 5+ years in such little time... It's gonna happen... I also don't wanna throw her into any dlcs rn cos I have barely finished any of them. Closest I've gotten so far is getting like halfway thru far harbor and I'm too scared to go back rn lmao. (Random note but I just remembered my first encounter with a hermit crab there with Deacon and oh my god 😭😭 scared the shit out of me bro). Anyway! I'm rambling now lol. Hopefully more updates soon! (Hopefully on the actual story being written! I won't be starting it until Saturday just cos I have like a week where I'm gonna be doing nothing but hanging with some dogs so. Need something to keep me occupied!) anyway! Thanks for listening to me ramble about my silly little story :) more soon <3

Fics I Enjoyed This Week…

The Locksmith Series by @oonajaeadira I wasn’t entirely sure what I was getting into reading a series based on the The Thief from the Casillero del Diablo adverts. But this was a whole lot more than I expected and was such a great read. I don’t want to spoil too much, but it has just the perfect combination of magic, romance, tension and plot. This was a very enjoyable lazy Sunday morning read.

Delta Landscaping - Chapter 2 + 3 by @rhoorl okay, chapter 2? Was not expecting to be getting so teary eyed in the first half and then snorting with laughter in the second. Then the bonus of a THIRD chapter before the week was out? Jess is spoiling us with the events of Mulefall Court 🫏. I don’t want to spoil chapter 3, but it is a riot and I am eagerly waiting to find out what happens next! 

The Layover - Chapter 11 by @goodwithcheese I’m in denial that there’s one chapter and an epilogue left on this. However, trust me when I say this series will lend itself to a reread once it’s done! Frankie and Reader are in some feels in this chapter and have some stuff to work through. But as ever Jules BBF extraordinaire and “get you laid” fairy godmother comes in with some wise words ♥️

Hungry Hearts - Chapter 5 by @atinylittlepain This is a permanent entry on my fics read/recommended list forever - I could wax lyrical about how Joel Miller is Springsteen coded. However, things are coming to a head here both in the summer of 86’ and in present day for Cherry and Joel. I think we’re in for a bumpy ride with the next updates but I’m looking forward to seeing how it plays out! You won’t be disappointed. 

Late Night Texts - Chapter 11 by @mvtthewmurdvck I had my worries about Javi & Reader as I made my way through this chapter and if this was a live action rom-com this would be the part where you shout at the TV because the happily ever after is just right there in sight only for it to be swiped away. But all is not lost because… I’m not going to give it away, go and read! 

Bloom by @nothoughtsjustmeds I very much dislike flowers, each to their own, but I simply don’t get the appeal. I appreciate them at a distance and think they’re pretty, but that’s where it ends for me. However, give me a flower shop trope and I am all over it will devour them all! (don't know what this says about me, lol) This one is no different and was actually a re-read when it popped up on my dash! Joel Miller is late, it’s Mother’s Day and he’s showing up in Readers store two minutes to closing in need of help and the rest… well, I’ll let you read it because it’s such a delight.

2023 Summer Kiss Prompt #11: Daniel Harper (Wing Pit) - A Kiss After Pain by @something-tofightfor Look. I’m not afraid to admit it, I’m feral for Daniel ‘Wing Pit’ Harper, and it’s because of @something-tofightfor’s fics. Go and read them and you’ll see what I mean. That's A Real Fucking Legacy: All of You, All of Me by @wyn-n-tonic If you haven’t read the series this wraps up, I suggest you do! Like, I could word vomit on this fic for days. However, this one-shot gives Joel & reader a tender ending that while it doesn’t fix everything, it gives life to a future for them both without guilt of the origins of their relationship. This was an unexpected treat on my dash this week and I encourage you to take a moment to read this series of you haven’t. 

Two Chances by @mrsquill A Joel Miller x Reader AU that has puppies, Joel and Sarah dynamics and did I mention puppies? It’s an adorable fluff piece that I hope we get to see a follow-up to!

Conversations With a Movie Star | Chapter 2 by @gnpwdrnwhiskey Hands down one of the best written Dieter's in my opinion and on top of that this is such an original idea of a story. Ava and Dieter play so well off one another and I can't wait to see how this is all going to play out. Also, I already love Desi and Lucy ❤️🦝

Fall Apart, Again | Chapter 3 by @wildemaven Okay, while on the topic of unique story ideas... this one right here! This, eurgh, I want to wrap this story in a blanket and give it a massive hug and tell it it'll be all okay. No secret I love me some good angsty fics, but there's a thin line you have to tread before it can dissolve into either a comedy of errors or just downright depressive verbage but Heidi, *chef's kiss* hits all the right notes with this story. Not going to get into much more as it is owed a reblog later today - but you cannot not get invested from the opening chapter.

March by @the-widow-miller I wasn't the only one this week in my Joel Miller feels - we both ended up posting our TLOU2 fics within days of one another and this one, eurgh, the whole thing cutting between present time and flashback and the ending? I'll let you get into this and get down deep in your Golfing feels.

Palomino | IX Warmblood by @fuckyeahdindjarin Going to admit it here, I am afraid of horses, I don't like them I think they're going to bite my hand off and yeah, so so pretty. But they frighten me. HOWEVER, this entire series has me wanting to go book a trek with the Statesmen, not only for my own Whiskey - but to witness the beautiful landscapes Cee has painted and weaved through this entire story. I also like how this ended, I'm not going to get into it because I don't want to spoil it - but if you've not read this series, you are in for a real treat!

This week it’s an album, Bruce Springsteen's Nebraska - @atinylittlepain mentioned this book, Deliver Me from Nowhere: The Making of Bruce Springsteen's Nebraska (which I can’t wait to get stuck into) and so I’ve been listening to this album on repeat since. 

It’s one of those albums that sticks out at from a time when I was younger where I was figuring out what I liked and not being afraid of offending others with my choices or worrying that they weren't what everyone else liked.

What’s Your Own Favorite Story Of The Year? I can't pick just one because I'm a biased bitch: alone again tonight with you, the smoke in your eyes and boys of summer

Did You Take Any Writing Risks This Year? I'm not really sure? boys of summer was a totally drama-free, fluffy, smutty fic, which is not my usual thing, but I loved writing it! And I wrote a fic from Maddie's POV which was something new as well (my love has come along).

Do You Have Any Fanfic Or Profic Goals For The New Year? Probably just going to keep writing whatever I want, lol - specifically though I'm working on a post-5a, anti-Taylor fic (well it's kinda anti-Taylor, she's not sympathetic in it at all), I'm also working on the next Songs fic - after that, not sure. I probably want to write another suspense fic at some point.

Most Popular Story Of The Year? Definitely try to love me if you can. It's my most popular story by far - I don't know if anything will ever top it? As at the 21st of December 2021 it's at 54,357 hits and 3,565 comments, and I still get people reading through and commenting on each chapter!

Story Of Mine Most Under-Appreciated By The Universe, In My Opinion:  My Maddie fic (my love has come along) but I knew it would flop when I posted it. I just really felt like writing Maddie's POV ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Most Fun Story To Write: you light my morning sky with burning love and the entire Cooper-arc in the Songs Universe was super fun, I was genuinely having a blast when I was writing his scenes.

Most Unintentionally Telling Story: wherever we're together, that's my home - I've had a fucking tough couple of months.

Biggest Disappointment: I don't know if I should be brutally honest or not? So like... the amount of people I see saying how much they love the Songs Universe, messaging me, talking about it on TikTok/Twitter - like that's great, but... the comments and kudos don't really reflect that? I pretty much entirely go off how people respond to a fic on AO3 as opposed to what happens elsewhere, so yeah... I'm not saying I'm going to end the Songs Universe or anything because I have fucking plans, guys, and I'm not fishing for comments, but it can just be a little confusing for me, I guess? So yeah, if you love it, the best thing you can do for me is to leave me a lovely comment on AO3. Nothing motivates me more than comments.

Biggest Surprise: How the Cooper-arc in the Songs Universe was received - honestly, I never planned it. I wrote him into one of the fics because I wanted Buck to get a little banged up, and I put in a throwaway line about Eddie catching him checking Buck out, and then all the comments were, what the FUCK is up with this Cooper guy? and thus a villain was born 😅

My Favorite Part Of Fandom This Year: It's been a fucking WILD RIDE, you guys. We've had some fun. We've gone nuts together and screamed and wished for Eddie to get shot and then stuck in an elevator, and then we were stuck on Buddie roommates era and then we wanted them to get taken hostage, and they DID, and like... yeah, Seasons 4 and 5 have been fucking wild and fun. Looking forward to more chaos in 2022, y'all!

Summary: Charmaine's first mission with the team but it doesn't end well and the team loses a member.

A/N: Okay so I feel way more comfortable posting this chapter after I said I wasn't going to post the rest. Let me know if this cringy, I love feedback.

The day was Friday and it was the same as any other day, Charmaine was back home from her class, Peter was getting out of school, the team either train or helped find the location of the Hydra base that held the scepter. One month after the avengers been staying in the tower. The relationship between Charm and Bucky was growing every day, at times they act like a couple without even noticing.

"Did you enjoy dinner?" Charm questioned while washing the few dishes that were in the sink. Bucky walked over placing a kiss on her cheek and putting his dirty plate in the water.

"I loved it, that lobster mac and cheese was amazing."

She blushed at the comment and his boldness of him kissing her on the cheek. He winked then walked over to the couch sitting down beside Sam, joining him in the movie that was playing. Bucky let go of the nervous breath he was holding,  he seemed confident on the outside but on the inside, he was scared as fuck.

Charmaine wasn't no easy girl that he would flirt and take home the same night in the '40s. She was the girl that he wants to get to know fully, learn the little things about, be himself around. So most time he was around Charm, he was nervous as hell praying that he wouldn't say something dumb.

Charmaine hummed one of her favorite songs while cleaning up the last dish thinking about a certain long-haired brunette. She turned around coming face to face with spiderman who was hanging upside down.  The 21-year old let out a yelp clutching her heart.

"Peter don't do that !! What the hell dude."

"You okay Charm?" Bucky questioned from the couch looking over at her. He saw Peter hanging down so his concerns washed away. "Oh, Peter just scared her."

"Yeah, you alright?" Sam asked as well not taking his eyes off the screen, ignoring what Bucky just said.

"Sorry Champagne, I just came back from patrol and I rushed in here before you left to ask you this. Can you make brownies? I wasn't here the last time you made them and everyone said they were good. " Peter rambled as he let himself come down, sitting on top of the perfectly clean marble countertop.

"They were!" Sam chimed in.

"See! I want to try them." Peter pout poking out his lip.

"I be spoiling you guys I swear. I'll make some just for you Peter."  Charm groaned playfully, opening the cabinet grabbing the brownie box. "Get your ass off my counter, I just cleaned it."

Peter hopped off happily," So? You and Bucky?"

"Peter if you continue to say something about that topic, I'm not making the brownies." She warned looking in the fridge for the eggs.  Maria walked in from the elevator with a serious face grabbing everyone's attention.

"They found the base. Cap said suit up and meet them in the lab in 5. Peter, Happy is downstairs waiting for you."

Everyone nodded and Charm hugged Peter. Tony had let slide with one of his kids going on the mission, not both so Peter was going home until they got back. She kissed his forehead.

"This mission shouldn't take long, I'll be back to make your brownies. Be good for Aunt May."

" I am Champagne, be safe and please come back. "

"I will Petey. I'll always come back."

Charmaine walked in beside Sam as they were the last two to join the rest in the lab. She found a spot beside Scott. Everyone was in full armor ready to go except Bruce and Tony because you know.

"Glad of you two to finally make it," Tony said sarcastically then started swiping away on his tablet. It projects a hologram of what seems to be Rome. "We are going to Rome. Intel tells us that hydra has a camp in the countryside."

The hologram shows a huge vineyard with a building that looked abandoned with little buildings surrounded.

"Inside sources tell us that the person who is over this organization called M.A.Z.E is supposed to be visiting any moment now. We're taking down two operations at once so be prepared for this mission to be one of the hardest." Maria said reading something off her tablet. Charm snuck a glance at Bucky who was in his winter soldier attire. She hoped that this mission wasn't going too hard for him.

"Brief explanation. Stay focused at all times, take out as many as you can, feeling overwhelmed? Walk it off. Get in, Get out. Anyone that has the chance grabs the scepter." Steve spoke with determination.

"When we get there we fight anyone that comes our way. Sam or Stark will find a way to get us in. Charm you stay by someone at all times okay? first mission and we don't want to lose you."

"Gotcha." Charm nod her head understanding his rule.

Inside the quinjet, she sat beside Bucky. Both had their mask off to communicate with each other. Everyone was in either their own zone or in a conversation. Bucky closed his eyes so he could converge on how to not lose control of himself, he didn't want to completely turn back into the winter soldier.

"You like my suit?" Charmaine asked softly taking him out of his trance.

Bucky turns his head giving a smile, "I like it. You make it look good and very badass."

"I feel like a badass." She jokes making them laugh. As their laughter died down, Charm grabbed his hand pulling it in her lap. "Are you okay about this whole mission? I know history with you and hydra isn't really that good."

"I should be good, I just don't want to be captured again, you know? Steve and I are still working on me not reacting to my trigger words. It's hard but it's working. Plus I got you fighting by my side so we are going to be the coldest duo."

"Well I'm not going to let that happen, you protect me so I'm going to always protect you . If you don't mind, I could help with the trigger words? I'll be there to hold your hand or something." Charm said with quiet empathy giving him a soft smile. " Coldest duo? Well, this mission should be over in no time. When we get back can we finish watching Legally Blonde? You fell asleep before it started leaving me up by myself."

"I'll check with Steve when we do it the next time, I wouldn't want you to get hurt if anything happened," Bucky said nodding his head towards Steve. " And I told you that I was tired! You didn't listen and put on the movie anyway."

"I'm not going to get hurt and I thought you were playing!" Charm said in defense then calmed down. "Hey, Bucky?"

"Hmm?"

"I'm always going to be here for you okay? You mean the world to me and I don't want to lose you under no circumstances." She said holding his hand to her face. Charmaine looked him in the eyes, showing that she was serious. A world without Bucky is a world that she can't live in. She needs him.

His hand opened and Charm cuddled to it. Bucky looked at her in admiration rubbing his thumb against her cheek. He admits it, Buchanan was head over heels for her,"You mean the world to me as well so don't think you're going anywhere. You're my lucky charm."

In the next four hours, they had arrived Rome's countryside and everyone prepared for landing. Charm stood next to her dad as his Iron Man suit connects over his body. Before his helmet covered his face, Tony turned to Charm.

"Kiddo, be safe alright? Don't get hurt or anything."

"I will." She reassured and he kissed her forehead. 'Now thinking about it Tony has a weird way of expressing his feelings' Charmaine thought to herself. The doors to the jet opened and Steve spoke up, "Stark, Sam you're up!"

Charmaine ran down the hallway trying to find the exit to the big building. Thor didn't retrieve the scepter and they were still looking but time was winding down. She ran into this room where there were big computer screens on the wall with a closed-cell in the corner.

"Ahh, I have been looking for you." A female voice came from behind her making Charmaine turn around swiftly. "I'm Mazikeen and you are going to be on in my unit."

The room filled with tension as they circled each other not losing sight of one another. "Unit? I'm not going to be anyone's slave. Let alone let you lay a finger on me, so let go of that stupid ass idea you have." Charmie snapped holding her fist up. Mazikeen winked getting in defense mode as well.

"Snarky? I like that. Let's do this shall we?"

She swings on Charm who easily blocks it. The two fight hand-to-hand combat for a couple of minutes, none stop. Charmaine was getting tired but she held her weight up. She kicked Mazikeen on her back, placing her foot on her neck. The Demon grabbed her ankle smirking then rolled over making Charm fall on her side. She gets on top, pulling out her knife.

"This won't hurt one bit. Well, maybe just a little."

"Anyone have eyes on Charmaine? The building is going to blow in 3 minutes." Tony's voice came through the comm.

"I'm busy at the moment!" Charm yelled pushing Mazikeen's arms up so she wouldn't get stabbed in the face. The dark skin girl moved one of her hands to the side grabbing the demon's hair yanking it.

Mazikeen fell off and it gave her enough time to get back to her feet. Charm kicked her to stay down but Mazi grabs her foot mid-air then twist it making her body twirl, falling on the ground.

"I will have you to myself and make you my eternal flame. Right along with the other 3 elements. You are going to be the most powerful." Mazikeen leans down grabbing her hair yanking it making Charmaine cry out in pain. The demon moved her mouth close to Charm's ear with a sinister smirk.

"I'm going to have you kill anyone that stands in our way."

A guard's body flew in the door from someone kicking him through. Bucky walks into the room angrily seeing Mazikeen holding a handful of Charm's brown hair.

He runs over punching her in the face making the demon drop his lover. Bucky grabbed Mazikeen by the neck with his metal hand dragging her towards the closed-cell.

The bounty hunter's eyes widen from the pressure that was on her throat, she hit his arm repeatedly but that didn't do anything. Bucky flings her into the closed cell like she was discarded trash.

Charm sits on the ground rubbing the back of her head, the words haunting her mind. Bucky goes back over to help his best girl onto her feet.

"We need to out of here now."

But it was muffled because of the mask. She nodded putting her weight on him as they walked to the exit. On the roof, the two ran to the middle.

"We're on the roof! Bring the Quinjet!" Bucky yelled taking off his mouth cover. Charm was hunched over trying to catch her breath, she literally just fought 5 minutes straight now she doing a full-out run. She needed more exercise.

The explosion sounded off and the building shook. Just in time, the Quinjet hovered down lowly so they could get on. A huge crack in the roof separated the two.

The building was going to collapse.

They looked around frantically as Charm's side start to slowly but gradually fall.

"Jump!" Bucky yelled, holding out his hand.

Charm did as told, not even second-guessing, leaping off the fallen building. She catches the side of the broken roof, barely holding on with one hand. All she needed to do was use her upper body to lurch her forward so her other hand could grab his. Bucky bends over, reaching for her hand, not taking his blue eyes off her brown ones.

Charmaine's eyes were filled with fear, feeling herself slowly losing grip, "I can't reach it!"

"Use your strength, Charmaine. Grab my hand!"

"I can't, Bucky; my body is too tired. I feel myself slipping!"

"Charm, grab his hand! Bucky, you need to need to grab Steve's hand. That building is going to collapse any second! He will pull you guys up." Natasha said in the comms but was ignored by both.

Bucky leans forward more without noticing that he might fall himself, "I'm not leaving without you charmaine. grab my hand!"

"I'm trying!" Charm yelled when she tries to lift herself; it aches in pain. She drops her hand down in pain. Tears clouded her vision as she knew this was it; Bucky stared at her scratched-filled face knowing what she was thinking.  He shook his head; He can't lose her, not now, " No Charm, you're leaving with me!"

Charmie could feel the building she was holding on to began to fall, sobbing; she looked into Bucky's blue eyes one last time. "I'm sorry Bucky."

"No Charmie, you have time. Just grab my hand! P-Please." Bucky yelled as tears clouded his vision. "You're my lucky charm. I need you!"

The building collapsed, and his feet slip from under him. A hand grabs his keeping Bucky from falling in the rubble; Natasha lowered it down in time just for Steve to grab the back of his armor from falling with her.

"No!" Bucky stared in horror watching Charmaine screamed, falling into the explosion reaching out for him.

Steve gasp as tears fell down his face seeing the horrible fate of his sister.

There was nothing either could do.

With the help of others, Steve pulled Bucky into the quinjet.

Bucky laid on his stomach sobbing with heartache.

Tears weld in Thor's eyes as he saw that Charmaine wasn't on the jet. This didn't seem real to him; he couldn't accept it, "Where is Charmie? Why isn't my sister on this jet?!"

"Steve, where is Charmie?" Natasha asked, slowly getting up from the pilot seat as Clint took over. Her heart raced, hoping that he would say that Tony has her or something. Bruce grabbed her waist, but she snatched away from his touch.

"Natasha, sit down."

"Don't tell me to sit down! Where is she?!"

Steve couldn't say anything as he drops to his knees, breaking down. Sam catches him before he hit the floor. "I got you man."

The jet doors opened as Tony flew in; he raised an eyebrow to see the team in tears. He was getting files in this underground room but got out in time just as the building collapsed. He noticed someone was missing.

"What's going on? Where is Charmaine?"

No one answer, which made Tony panic.

"Where is my daughter?!"

"Tony, she died; she f-fell into the explosion," Scott informed him while wiping his tears.  Her falling replayed in Bucky's mind like it was his personal hell. Charm reached out for him, and he couldn't save her. He failed.

Tony's world crumbled as tears blurred his vision looking around the jet as if she was hiding, "What? Barnes tell me he's lying! Where the hell is my daughter!"

Bucky sat up now with his knees to his chest; he couldn't stop crying no matter how much he tried. He lost the one person that meant the most to him other than Steve, the person he saw a future with. His best girl is no longer here.

Tony sat down in a seat in disbelief; for once in his life, he cried. He completely broke down, not being able to hold it. She filled the lonely hole in his heart; everyone he ever loved was gone, and the person who made him happy.

Was gone too.

It was evening time when they got back; they had been gone all day.

The living room was silent; the avengers sat down sulking and mourning. Bucky squeezed his eyes tightly closed as the memory of her falling hit his mind like a truck. Tony had his head in his hands, just letting his mind run all over the place. The elevator ding, and a frantic Peter walked out looking for Tony.

"Mr. Stark, I'm here! What happened? Is everyone okay? Are you okay?" Peter rambled, walking into the living room. He noticed everyone's sad behavior, then looked around for Champagne. "Guys?  Did something happen? Where is Charmaine?"

Tony gets up from the couch, going to Peter, engulfing him in a hug. Peter hugged back, shock that he did that but was still confused about what happened. "Mr. Stark, what's wrong?"

"She n-not co-coming back, kiddo."

"H-huh?"

"I'm s-sorry, kid."

"N-no, you're lying! This isn't a joking matter, Mr.Stark; everyone can put smiles on their fucking faces, and Champagne can pop up from under the couch." Peter said abruptly, pulling back from Tony's arms; doing a 360 to look around for a camera. Steve rubbed his hand over his mouth to keep from crying again.

"Queens, it's not a jo-joke."

Peter's face reddens from anger and sadness," She said she was coming back! She promised! What happened to her?!" Charmaine promised without even promising him because she always comes back. Peter prayed that this a sick ass joke; she was his best friend. Him and Her against the world.

"She fe-fell into the explosion Peter," Bruce said sadly; with that, Natasha broke down in his arms. Peter wasn't taking this well, and that broke everyone's heart even more.

"N-no guys, stop this, pl-please."Peter cried, shaking his head, then he looked Tony in the eyes. Her father nodded his head as a way of saying that it's true. Peter broke down mentally, " My Champagne is su-supposed to be here with me. My best friend is.."

Tony pulls his son into his arms; tears threaten to spill.

Peter sobbed his heart out.

2:43 a.m.

Bucky's body lurched forward after grabbing the gun that was kept under his pillow for 'emergency purposes' raised at...

Steve.

"Bucky, drop the gun. It's me."

"Shit, I'm sorry, Steve." His fingers slowly lost grip of the gun, and the weapon dropped to his lap. His chest drew up sharply with each breath as he tried to control his rapidly beating heart. Steve sat on the edge of his bed.

"It's fine Buck, you were yelling, so I came in here to see if everything was alright."

"I should be fine."

"Okay, I'm going back to bed and try to get some sleep before my morning exercise." Steve sighs, getting up from the bed. He wasn't getting any sleep at all, but he didn't want to tell Bucky that.

"Steve?" Bucky called before he could leave out the room. Steve stopped in his tracks looking at him.

"Yeah?"

"Can you stay with me and watch Legally Blonde? I was supposed to watch it with Ch-Charm when we came back, but..."

"I'll stay Bucky; I don't mind."

Bucky gave a small smile getting out of bed, grabbing some pillows and the comforter. Steve grabbed his laptop from the desk to find the movie. 5 minutes later, the two super soldiers were lying on the floor, eyes glued to the computer enjoying the movie.

Final Space Season 3 Episode 1 Review **SPOILER WARNING!!**

...And Into The Fire we go!

I really have wanted to do a Final Space review for a while, so now - I'm going to do it, fuck it. Starting a couple episodes late, but after [insert shenanigans] I needed to let it cool off before getting back into it.

One last warning: THESE ARE NOT SPOILER FREE REVIEWS. DO NOT READ IF YOU ARE NOT SPOILED AND DO NOT WANT TO BE. THESE ARE GOING TO HAVE SOME SUMMARIZATION INVOLVED.

With the disclaimer out of the way, let's get into it.

So, first of all, I have to acknowledge that this cold open? Fucking toasty. The entire first five or six minutes of this episode is flat out amazing and some of the best that Final Space is. Really intense - I love the dramatic cold open to a space chase.

Also, however, brief, the Quinnary reunion was nice. Quinnary is a ship that I enjoy subjectively more than objectively, but considering it really hits now even if S1 had issues... I can look past it yo.

Invictus proves his power and intimidation incredibly well this episode, between the Gary Zombies and even this first incredibly terrifying matchup - even Mooncake, who in any other situation has been able to zap it away, couldn't touch it. Really setting the villain well.

Small thing I want to acknowledge because there was some discourse on it -- Sheryl saying "I'm his mother; where do you think he got it from?" Was really nice to me. Obviously not all is forgiven, nor should it be, but it's just a nice bit of character development.

Then, Ava gets Yeeted by Bolo and breaks.

I could have taken a better screencap probably, but I will not.

Anyways, considering the cast of characters was way too fucking big in S2, I'm not... particularly aggrieved by this, especially since I didn't really like AVA anyways, but it is pretty unfortunate that one of the only female characters just got the ax without basically any development other than the obligatory robot comphet stuff. Whatever, I think this is setting the stage for HUE AI, so I'll bite my tongue.

That said, the conversation that HUE and AVA had before she died? Sweet.

And then they're in Final Space. Goddamn, they really went the extra mile animating and illustrating this episode. Gotta acknowledge it.

Also, quick note: New OP is a banger.

...And this is when the review's going to start getting a bit more negative, because we jump straight into everyone's favorite trope: a time skip.

I. I really have issues with this timeskip. This episode was fucking ballistic in the pacing, and I really, really wish that I could have spent some more time within Final Space just trying to survive. I get it. It was a premiere, so you wanted to go all out, but... I really wish we could have savored it. There's just suddenly a timeskip! We don't get to see how they've been surviving. We don't get to see shit. Quinn just suddenly appears in a new outfit, and then we're off the races.

I dunno man, I really had issues with the pacing of this episode, and this is the backbone of it. It's okay to take a breather, even in your opening episode. You have to know when to take a breather. This episode sorely needed it, and it didn't get it.

Also, obligatory Danger Groins mention. Yeah, I know that's not what he says. It's what he says in my heart, tho.

From here, the Gary zombies show up, which are... admittedly intimidating.

They get attacked, and - okay, can we fucking mention the titan fights for a moment? No matter what happens this season, I'm here for this. This is Gurren Lagann levels of ridiculous, and I fucking love it. Smash that planet, yo.

lThey get separated, and Avocato and Gary have a bit unfitting but fucking hilarious moment that has to be acknowledged. This shit ain't straight, yo. There's no fucking way you tell me this shit is straight.

And... *sigh* I really have some goddamn issues with the next... I don't know, I wasn't watching, six minutes?

"There's no more grossout scenes," we were told. "Season 2 gross out is done. No more weird fetishes."

Okay.

Okay, sure.

I'm sparing you the images, because I don't want to post grossout on my blog, but... holy shit, Quatronostro's birth scene. First of all, which of the fuckers on the blog keeps putting their fetishes in this show? Clarence is gone, so you're making Mpreg Tribore (I realize Tribore is canonically genderfluid, but he's male presenting at the time of this birth... and at every time... I don't have faith in two cishet men to actually make good on that, sorry. I hope I'm wrong.) Stop it. Stop it. Stop it.

The scene is gross, uncomfortable grossout. This isn't the 90s anymore!

Also, the other thing I have to acknowledge - that motherfucking robot. It's season 3 - haven't we moved past the screaming = funny leftover humor from Olan's YouTube days? Clearly fucking not.

Also, Ash did a really out of character thing this episode by shooting the robot. I... what is Ash's character, exactly? Ash is an inconsistent enigma. Someone define that poor girl's character, already.

After that... mess.... though, we do end up with a very solid ending. Bolo headbutts the planet, Quinn and Gary get swept up in the blast, and we end up with a very beautiful but quick scene of Gary and Quinn embracing one last time - it's very reminiscent of chapter 9, and I did thoroughly enjoy it.

iAlso, the shot of Mooncake saying "Gar" while looking for Gary, presuming he's dead? Oh, that just hurts.

And then we end with HUE saying, "We are alone, Gary." Honestly, genuinely was a little disappointed to find it wasn't just HUE and Gary. I thought this line was going to come later in the season, and it was just going to be HUE and Gary in a callback from season one. It wasn't, and I'm genuinely very disappointed as someone who's favorite dynamic in the entire show is S1 HUE and Gary. Of course, as a result, I'm not unbiased, and... well, I do stan Quinn too.

And goddamn, look at the Earth. She got fucked uuuuuup. I think I remember hearing next episode that there's only one survivor left, which I do NOT buy as a concept, but it's very cool to see a show that does not shy away from full apocalypse scale destruction of the earth. It like, never happens, so it's a nice subversion. Get fucked, earth.

Overall Thoughts:

This episode is the definition of a mixed bag. The beginning is fantastic and the ending is solid (even if personally disappointing), but the middle is genuinely kind of bad. The pacing is rough, there's season 2 tier grossout that I did NOT need to see, and that robot deserved a punt in the face.

The animation is fantastic though. Everyone point and stare at the animation.

I still think the good outweighed the bad, though - if only because of my personal attachment to the characters. I think this was a decent episode - probably on par with the other openers... actually, I don't know.

My disappointment with this episode was more than with the Toro Regatta, but that was more due to my own expectations and thus not fair to rank it that way. I don't know - all the first episodes of the seasons are meh at best, and this unfortunately due to the lackluster middle fit that mold as well.

If you asked me to give it a ranking, I'd probably say if we assume a 5 out of 10 is average, I'd give it a 6. Decent, fantastic when it's good, but the entire middle section really brought me out of it and because of that I can't give it anything more than that.

I've heard episodes two and three are good, though - excited to see the Ventrexian for myself after all the fuss, so let's see how it holds up!

I'm scared for Biskit tho.
