Second, I kinda want to ask your advice/opinion (?) but it's pretty weird, so sorry in advance 😭 How would you feel if khr were to suddenly announce a spin-off and in there hibari has a s/o? Very unlikely tho because tsuna himself still needs to sort out his love problem, but let's imagine it for the sake of my question.

I have an OC that I crafted well in my imagination (I can't draw nor write haha) to pair with a male character from another show which has ended. But because I ship them so hard, I start getting irrational fear that if the show had a spin-off focusing on the said male character, he would be given an official girlfriend by the author (since one of his characteristics is tightly related to romantic stuff). It's really weird, like why would I want to gatekeep a character from his own author 😭?

It's just that I've never been interested to create a canon x oc or canon x y/n with characters who are officially in relationship in the story. I know I don't make sense but I just can't fully be immersed in the romantic scenarios while knowing the canon characters are taken... Wait why did I make it sound like I'm cheating 👁👄👁

So uh, do you have any advice so I can enjoy my own OC's lores without minding about the canon material? I guess you might be able to help me since you have a well-made OC 🥹

Honestly, I've thought about the same question you're asking, and I also have mixed feelings. I'm very passionate about adhering to the worldbuilding that the author has created, out of respect for the work and to keep my creative interpretations "realistic" to that world. But at the same time, I feel you -- what if the author creates something that derails my personal idea completely?

For that, I can think of a few different routes. (Putting it under a read-more because it got a bit lengthy lol) ⬇️👁️👄👁️

I stay delulu 🤪 I think it's so important to be able to curate your own experience in every environment. In fandom, if you don't like someone else's idea, simply wash it out of your brain and overwrite it with your own. In canon, if a character dies -- we pretend they didn't. I think the same can apply to OCs. If the character got married in canon... no they didn't. :) Your enjoyment comes first, even if no one else is on board. You're the captain of the ship!

I overwrite ✏️ Sometimes I take what the author has already given me and I overlay my idea. Character got married? Sure! Now I take my character, paste it over whomever they're married, and voila. I often think about one of my childhood crushes, the rich snobby chara Tora from Maid-sama. He gets an arranged fiancee in the post-series chapter, but I just... pretended it's my OC from when I was 11. Same scenario, very little else changed, but I just put my vision on top of the author's.

I fabricate reasons 🤔 Let's say the character did something that suggests romantic relations. In that case, I try to justify it while staying in-character for them. For example, TYL Hibari holds Chrome in an oddly intimate way while she is sick. I like to imagine a) he's mostly just obsessed with using her to get to Mukuro, and thus needs her alive as a tool, or b) idk, maybe Ari is fond of Chrome and would be sad to see her die. Whatever reason I can think of to redirect the meaning of a scene helps me feel less like I'm changing or twisting canon to fit my needs. I'm just working around it.

I choose (fictional) violence 😈 In your most desperate hour, you have the power to simply get rid of them. Either they never existed, or they died in this timeline, and your ship is canon now. That being said, it's never nice to slander a character for the sake of your own preferred ship, or disrespect someone's past love (real or fictional), so option 4 is my least taken route. But it's still possible!

Not sure if any of this helped, but I hope I was able to express how I enjoy fandom OCs! I used to feel really shy and guilty about my canon/OC ships because of reasons very related to what you mentioned, but we are all just here to have fun! It's like playing dolls...and kids playing dolls have the most freedom in the world. I aspire to be like them and enjoy my little made up people in my made up world because we all need reprieve from the real world (girl, the tariffs!!)

This ask made me giggle so much as I thought about all the dumb Minnesotan things that could’ve lived on in the Panem universe (unfortunately I don’t think the Minnesotan State Fair would’ve been allowed by the Capitol, bye bye butter statues 😔). I immediately wanted to say the D9 kids probably partook in cow tipping but that might be more of a D10 thing…one that Brandy and Tanner would try before feeling bad for the cows and then start crying

I like to think that the D9 Minnesotan accents would really show on words that are common in the region nowadays but not in the Panem universe. For example, when Coral’s talking about her job back in Four, Sheaf suddenly goes “wait, what’s a booooat? 🤔” which drove Coral absolutely crazy (yes I’m sure everyone knows what a boat is but Sheaf is ditzy in my head)

Plot twist Coral originally invited Panlo and Sheaf to join the pack but immediately retracted her invitation when they said “oh yeah, you betcha” in unison 💅

I don’t know why I’m thinking of this but it would also be so funny if cryptic legends (think Bigfoot) stuck around in Panem and the tributes started arguing about the legends on the train ride. Picturing Treech and Panlo arguing about whether Bigfoot or the wendigo would win in a fight while poor softhearted Wovey cries and gets nightmares from that discussion

Hello anon, don't worry it's not annoying. Glad to hear you like it so much ❤️ . Unfortunately TSOF is far from being finished 🥺. I haven't been able to work on any of my art for months now actually.

It's not out of laziness though! In fact I've bought a display tablet back in June 😗. The shorthand answer as to why I stopped posting is because I have health issues specifically with my hands and wrist. I meant to post this update months prior but I kinda just forgot about it sorry 😵‍💫.

Anyways, a few months ago I was both working and had my internship at the same time (12 hours + of work 😩). I was a UI/UX designer intern and if that wasn't enough my job required using the computer as well. Due to that my hands have been really tired 🤔. It's either my wrist from using my mouse for long hours or the joints of my fingers from typing and tapping left click and whatnot. This went on for about three months give or take. There have been mornings when I wake up with trigger fingers and it's kinda scary.

If you don't know what trigger finger is, basically the tendons are swollen and I wake up with my finger joints 'locked" into a curled position. And when you try to uncurl it, it's pretty painful and curls back on its own. One time I had to support my finger with a makeshift splint from a popsicle stick and yarn pfffttt.

Sometimes I don't even need to overwork them, holding my phone for too long or even something like cold weather makes my joints slightly ache. Basically my hands have been overworked and though I haven't gotten them checked, I'm pretty certain experiencing these symptoms in my early 20s isn't okay.

As soon as I could, I've avoided drawing (and writing and crochet and pretty much all my hobbies that use my hands). It sucks cuz that pretty much means it'll be a while before I can really have fun with my new tablet (which would've been another learning curve delay). Thankfully with my internship over with, I've been using the extra time to either rest my hands or find ways to support them (I've bought wrist casts, a heating pad and sports tape thus far). Yeah, so I've been trying to take it easy (as much as I can anyways I still have work after all).

Low key it kinda brought up a fear in me of never being able to draw again. And the problem with me is that when I'm in the zone you can expect me to draw for HOURS and I'll barely even notice 👁️👄👁️ . Plus trying to accomplish anything under 1 hour never seems enough to me. So I decided it was for the best to stop completely. To my fellow artists out there I hope you never have to go through the same thing 😵‍💫. Please rest your precious hands, don't be like me 🤣🙏.

For more happy news, I graduated 🎓 last October!!! 🎈 And I have continued working in my job 👏. I'm building my career and doing well generally speaking. My busy schedule is very much still busy but I really miss drawing too 😭.

I'm not really sure when I can go back to posting 🥲 cuz overworking myself again will set my recovery progress back to 0. However I can tell that my hands are definitely getting better (still not a full recovery but at least waking up with trigger fingers has stopped).

Be assured that all my unfinished works (whether its for gojohime, astelle, shortaki etc.) are still in the back burner of my brain. And I will get back to them when my health gets even better 😗.  And a big thanks to anyone that is still waiting by the time I come back 😌 💖.
