I'm gonna be honest as someone who is VERY obvious ab the fact that Baxter is my favourite olba love interest, the way Derek is held to such a higher standard than him makes me like so upset 💀

Because this guy is genuinely such a nice person with a really bittersweet story and he's overlooked so constantly for just like.... BAXTER IDK LIKE-

This standard goes beyond just him, it applies to his family. Sure it's fair to say that Derek was parentified, but the idea that his parents are straight up bad people is just ignoring a huge part of Derek's character. Could they have maybe made MORE of an effort to take pressure off Derek's shoulders? Sure, definitely. But Derek put a lot of that on himself, it's insane to hold his parents to the crazy standard and then in the same breath go thirst over Cliff who literally bribes his kid to not be mad at him when he genuinely fucks up.

The inherent biasis against the poc characters in this franchise (conscious/intentional or not) are so strong. I think there's obviously some nuance with Cliff in this case since his ethnicity is 'unspecified', but that's also its own issue because of the fact that a large majority of people view white people as the default, so they end up making Cliff and Cove white for 'simplicities sake'.

That part btw has been posted about before by actual poc creators in the fandom (I'm not totally sure how they feel ab tags so I won't specify) so like they are def more qualified to speak on it than me, it's just a good point I think ab.

And again this isn't even to hate on Bax, that's my boy. I literally never shut up about his stupid ass. But the way Derek and his family are portrayed in fan content is just such an ick and I feel like a lot of you need to unpack why you think the way you do and fix your shit idk

First Part - Simon is injured via beartrap while being hunted down. Introduces Simon, wolfhunts- a major theme in the story- and, of course, Johnny. Mentions a mysterious older man speaking with Johnny, but does not give him a name.

Second Part - Simon gets muzzled so Johnny can sleep without having to worry about being mauled or something, Simon eventually falls asleep. Johnny offers him food and Simon snaps at him to scare him off.

Third Part - more about wolfhunts and Simon getting used to warmth and comfort. Simon is force-fed some medicine despite not actually minding it, simply wanting to be difficult so Johnny doesn't think of him as sweet or docile. Johnny leaves the door open one morning while leaving with the older man, but Simon decides not to leave, much to Johnny's relief.

Fourth Part - no art attached - routines keep changing and Simon doesn't like it. Johnny starts talking with a woman who seems kind enough, but this prompts him into hiding Simon, as well as making him smell different and leave more often. Eventually, as he gets healthier, Simon decides to leave on his own, assuming Johnny will toss him out anyways, and falls asleep in his old territory, yearning for Johnny's home but deciding that it's for the best.

Fifth Part - Johnny finds Simon sulking out in the woods, having spent a while looking for him. Johnny realizes Simon isn't just a wolf, but urges him to come back, regardless. Simon reveals himself and follows, and is met with a warm home and a friend. (I also wasn't gonna mention it but after a few days of thinking about it I figure I should mention some casual nudity?? I'm not any less 16 than I was before and it wasn't added for any nefarious purposes, it's a perfectly SFW bath scene where it hardly focuses on him not having clothes on outside of just... taking a bath.... but I figure best to leave some sort of warning so it isn't out of nowhere. I think I meant to at first and forgot. It's only Simon, only because. Wolves don't exactly waltz around wearing clothing, now, do they)

Sixth Part - eventually

A better summary of the whole story:

Simon is a werewolf; he comes from a long line of them, in his very blood, but has been seen as a pest by the local town since he was just a pup. When he was younger he'd whine and beg outside of homes so children would feed him thinking of him as a harmless dog, until eventually on an especially instinct-driven night he broke into a chicken coop and was caught. With his shifted form being incredibly recognizable, wolfhunts are regular for him, and the townsfolk know exactly who he is. When he gets caught in a bear trap on one of these hunts, a human finds him, but seems to take pity on him, instead, and drags him back home to help him, instead. From there, Simon adjusts to living within a warm, comfortable home, where meals are offered to him and not earned with teeth and claws, where he's offered medicine and bandages and not made to clean wounds with his tongue and wait out the injury, all while telling himself that he can't get attached. (Spoiler: he does.)

It started out as an art thing because I am a sucker for turning characters into animals (on top of it being what I've drawn for my entire life, I'm talking since I was like 3 here, it's a really good way for me to understand characters in my own little way) and then turned into a way to drag myself back into writing again and get over my anxiety about posting silly things I like because screw it dude I'm happy with this. Who cares. It's the internet. People do worse.

It does not only revolve around Ghost while shifted, and will 100% have him as a human, and will not always have art to accompany it. I told myself it would but let's be honest here art is hard sometimes and I care a lot more about the writing tbh.

WereGhost is entirely SFW (I'm 16 ofc it is) but the end goal is SoapGhost/Ghoap/whatever your preferred name for them is, and there is lots of violence I will not lie. It's a werewolf story taking place in the undecided time period past where the very first part (with writing) involves him getting bear trapped because he's being hunted, that was kind of a given from the start.

Personal detail under the cut, it's nothing super serious just a little explanation for later on, but I figure since it's just about my life I'd hitcha with a Keep Reading.

No set schedule ADHD would kill me if I tried, updates will slow down around January as I'm applying for a job then. Still, I love this thing, it won't die out it'll just happen less. Once I do get a job I'll ideally be awake around 10-2PM and should be at work at 4 (all just vague estimates, it's bound to change but that's the plan), so that means I'll have from when I get home to however long I'm awake after, the few hours I have before work, plus days off (which will likely be spent with family more than anything) to try and get stuff out. i can see a scenario in which jason & octavian are like childhood friends turned long-time political rivals. jason's been praetor for ages & pratically primed for the position since he could walk (i know richard gave jason more of a rags-to-riches 5th cohort story in canon but tbh...i don't buy that shit. bro's a nepo baby). octavian's jealous & corrupt & flirting with a decent into madness.

i think that the camp jupiter campers would be pretty sexually repressed (first chb's abhorrent sex ed, now this lol). maybe it's unintentional, these campers are fighting & dying & don't have the time or necessity to learn about sex, apparently. jason would probably come to a point where he regularly gets himself off, but octavian...wouldn't. he'd do it a couple times, the stats of which are shocking & worrying at best. he's got shit to do, right? augur here, praetor-to-be there—he has no time for that sort of thing...until he does.

the tension between jason & octavian could develop into a rivals-with-benefits situation. octavian was never one to practice battle, though he starts joining jason, challenging him. jason overpowers him easily, pinning wrists and hips under strong, large hands. he'd say something along the lines of "if i didn't know any better, i'd say you were enjoying this"

...and he is. a lot more than he should.

i think jason would enjoy tying octavian down, finally restraining him to do what he wants. octavian, surprisingly, would like it too. he constantly feels things spiraling out of control, so to have a space he's confined to, an act with the same steps and the same building pleasure, brings octavian a strange sense of comfort and relief.

jason would consider a ball gag to really shut up octavian's quips, though he loves the sound of octavian coming undone too much for that. as stated, octavian's super sexually repressed. although there's a certain amount of shame there, he's too far gone to feel self concious about how he moans and begs for jason. he is really sensitive, too, and it takes a bit of time to build up his stamina. jason's more than happy to help him get there, even if that means getting himself off in various ways during their first few hookups.

there's a few soft moments in their dynamic, though it's far from healthy and fluffy. at times, it's almost like another duty to fulfill, a practice that makes their lives easier. there's a professionalism to it.

at one point, when jason's got octavian laid down on the bed, his cock down his throat as octavian's hands are tied to jason's headboard (thank goodness for a praetor's private quarters...people are not at all getting suspicious about how many times octavian goes in there to "discuss matters of great importance to new rome", or whatever). octavian starts to roll his hips up towards jason on impulse, his thighs trembling.

& jason pins his hips firmly to the mattress, pulling off to give him a stern look. he tells him not to move, to stay absolutely still and take what jason's giving him "like a good boy". & part of octavian hates how demeaning it feels, though at the same time...his cock twitches, leaking a bit of precum. & he manages a "...yes, sir" that surprises even himself. he's not sure where that came from or why he's so turned on by it.

it's like it makes this obscene thing they're doing less obscene...or perhaps more so, breaking decorum in one of the only ways octavian will allow.

jason seems to like it, too, raising his brows before resuming with double the efforts. octavian writhes in his binds, longing to run his fingers through jason's hair. he pants and moans, fighting the urge to roll his hips as he calls him "sir" over and over again, like a prayer.

Love & War grew way beyond what i originally had planned for it, but i love how it turned out and it's one of my favorite longfics that i've written- and it feels so good just to finally have it completed

Burn Clean was just something very different than my usual fics, but i loved putting it together and i'm really happy with how it turned out. i've been working on a follow-up of sorts, which has stalled a bit as i hit an inspiration wall but which i do plan to finish- the whole worldstate her just really gets my wheels turning!

so, from all this you'd expect that being isolated would cause toa a lot of distress right? but he seems perfectly calm. granted, he could be suppressing or just hiding his distress, but there comes a point where you're far past being able to do something like that.

basically, what i think happened is that the stress of being isolated caused toasys to switch to an alter that's more aloof/uncaring. i think that's the alter that is narrating the unknown memory as well, but i'll get more into that later.

toa has a hard time talking about himself, as he finds it awkward, but toa has no such qualms. also it's worth to note that his way of speaking is completely different. well-spoken and formal, meanwhile toa has a much more informal manner of speech, often going "uhh" or "umm" and saying "like".

Toa: The verdict… I don't know. Those voting options have so much personality in them. If I were to choose what describes me, it'd be a Bystander. Someone who is not even in the interaction…

toa seems much more accepting of the verdict. admittedly this one's kinda reachy but this is overanalyzing 6 lines of dialogue hours.

anyway, onto the unknown memories. i brought this up in the tags, but most characters' is in first person, except for a few: kouta, hotaru, hiiro, and toa. i've taken this to mean that the characters are dissociating to some degree, and with toa it's pretty explicit that it's one alter talking about another.

Let's introduce the main characters: a boy born in an unlucky place and a boy born in an even unluckier one. If you forget their names, please refer to the first page; though as for their stories, you have to figure them out on your own. Ah, you're late to the start. “Hey, I don't want to see someone pretty like this crying.” “But it's not that your appearance is the only thing that catches my attention.” “It's just the instant thought that came to my mind, to maybe comfort you a bit.” “Come on, don't look at me like this.” The older boy lets out a weak, lighthearted laugh, then stops smiling and stares to the side with a detached gaze.

… …Ah. I just noticed. In the end, it's not really my story, is it?

toa seems to not like this alter very much. i also don't think the toa talking here is the same as toa, as their manners of speaking are different, so that's why the text isn't green. i'll go into this if i make my "toa in the memories isn't the same as prisoner toa" propaganda post.

why do i think the toa in the unknown memory reports is toa?

first of all, it's only logical- they supposedly switched during the intermission, and that's when the unknown memories came out- but also because they have a similar, formal matter-of-fact way of speaking, and seem to have similar attitudes, that being direct, confident and disconnected from whatever toasys is going through. but again, this man has 6 lines of dialogue so i can't say that i'm an expert on his personality.

however, i don't think he is the alter who butts in during the t1 memory report, because

Yo what if you went off about s3, it'd be cool

The love triangle, the quick tech development, whatever you want, I wanna know what you think

The entirety of my thoughts on Ninjago's technology are long and vast and complicated, and I could probably make a full video essay on just that topic alone. But for the sake of simplicity, and also because I'm too lazy to write a 10k-word essay with screenshot evidence on why Ninjago tech isn't actually anachronistic, I'm going to just focus on the season 3 issue for now.

Now, one criticism that often gets lobbed at Rebooted is the matter of the technology. How did Ninjago suddenly become a hyper-futuristic technoscape in the span of what couldn't be more than a year? At first glance, I can understand how that might feel unrealistic. I used to feel the same way! But it actually makes total sense when you realize that this technology probably already existed, if only in a beta form, for years before s3 started.

But wait! If the technology already existed in some form, then why wasn't it used? Why did Ninjago only become a cyberpunk dystopia during s3??

The answer to that question is something that sounds like a no-brainer, but should probably be said anyway: just because a technology exists, doesn't mean it is democratized. That is to say, just because a society has made certain technological advancements, doesn't mean everyone in that society can actually access those advancements. Look at any country in our contemporary world - richer and more industrialized communities typically have better access to cutting edge developments, whereas more rural communities may not even have reliable internet access. Even Ignacia, which is one of the most rural communities we've seen in the entire show, was depicted as having landlines and telephone poles in the very first scene.

Moreover, it's reasonable to assume that robotics and digital technology has existed - and fairly advanced - for decades in-universe.

My evidence? The creation of characters such as Zane and Unagami. Both were invented roughly 40 and 20 years pre-canon respectively. Coding, and especially programming an AI like both characters are classified as, requires the existence of a computer. Which means that computers existed as early as the Serpentine War. (Unless Zane is the product of magi-tech, but that doesn't seem to be the case. Especially since Zane's original body also has other functions that, to my knowledge, wouldn't be possible without programming. For now, I'm proceeding under the assumption that Zane was created purely with technology.)

For these reasons I would argue that certain technologies, and in particular digital technology, have existed in-universe for a lot longer than we might think at first glance - but due to what appears to be some very extreme wealth disparity, technology has only recently become more widely accessible within the last few decades.

Think about it. Most human settlements we see are fairly small and rural, except for Ninjago City. Ninjago City is the only city we've seen on-screen in the entire series (with a few small towns here and there, but it's mostly just villages). And even then, the cost of living in Ninjago City itself is astronomically high. There's clearly something funky going on with this country's distribution of wealth.

With that in mind, it makes total sense that the tech we see in s3 was at least in development a lot earlier than anyone might realize. It's just that it was too expensive and exclusive for anyone in the general public to actually use it.

Now, let's look at this in the context of Rebooted.

Imagine you're a multi-millionaire tech mogul and the CEO of a very powerful tech company. The city is in shambles in the wake of an apocalyptic battle against Lego Satan. You take this opportunity to spearhead the reconstruction efforts. On top of being an impressive PR stunt, this is also great for business as it presents you with the perfect opportunity to populate the city wholesale with your own products: flying cars, holographic floating streets, AI vending machines, elaborate VR and AR setups, mechanical spider wheelchairs, the whole nine yards. The government probably even writes you a big check to make this process more accessible to your consumers - I mean, to the citizens of your the shiny new corporatocracy you may or may not have stumbled into creating. Whether or not you employed lobbyism to get this check is neither here nor there. After all, this is for the greater good! And to finally seal the deal that this city has become a Borg Industries outpost, you rebrand Ninjago City to New Ninjago City. This isn't just a city anymore, it's a corporate asset. It's an ad campaign. It's a way of life.

This also explains why all the tech mysteriously vanishes after s3 ends: supply and demand. A robot apocalypse is, among other things, bad for PR. I don't wanna think about the existence of a Lego Stock Market because that will hurt my brain, but a robot apocalypse is definitely what I would classify as a "black swan event" (an unpredictable crisis that severely disrupts the stock market). The theme of s3 isn't "technology bad" - at least, it shouldn't be. If you're as brainrotted as I am then the theme of s3 instead becomes, "maybe you shouldn't let one sole company have a total monopoly on your society's infrastructure because they might accidentally start a cyberpunk dystopia". And that is a...disturbingly apt moral for our current day and age (cough cough Amazon).

I've been lurking on Tumblr on and off for years now. But I've been getting more active on here that I've really gotten back into writing fanfiction. So, it may seem silly, but I felt an intro was in order.

I'm IceGirl2772. You can call me Ice or Icey. I've been writing fanfiction since I was 10 or 11. If you look at my FFN stuff... be prepared for the cringe. But nowadays, I am much more active on AO3.

The Autobots gear up for another fight alongside old and new allies, but will they all emerge unscathed?

As mentioned, this is a sequel to Save You. This follows season one of the show, but some changes will have to be made because, in this series, Jack knew about the Autobots before the show's canon.

ABOUT GALLAGHER (spoiler-free version): Gallagher is a security officer from the Bloodhound family and a dreamscape drinksmith. He presents himself as a disorganized, tired, middle-aged man with no other remarkable qualities, although the scars on his arm have won him some prestige within the Family. While blunt and often crass, he is polite to guests visiting Penacony, kind to those he considers friends, and charismatic with customers. He can be found just about anywhere in the dreamscape and loves making new drink concoctions.

ABOUT GALLAGHER (2.2 spoilers): Gallagher is not human and maintains a fictional persona that does not actually exist in Penacony's history. While he should have disappeared after being discovered as a lie, he has a nebulous existence in GH that I've been likening to that of Santa Claus: if a character believes that he's real against the information they've been given, then "Gallagher" still exists to them, but if they don't, then he's just some stranger (this is irrelevant to characters who have never met him in canon). It's likely that there was a persona that came before "Gallagher," and one that comes after him as well, but I'm not going to speculate too much about who or what they are. For now this mysterious figure is holding on to "Gallagher" as their identity because they've been living this life for so long. He is still primarily a dreamscape drinksmith, but will take up his old disguise as a Bloodhound when situations call for it. Even though realistically, he would change his name and appearance when traveling elsewhere, for simplicity's sake in GH, he will generally retain both. Expanded information can be found in this post and this post.

DUB: I base my characterization and dialogue on Mikami Satoshi's performance.

CONTENT WARNINGS: Gallagher possesses the traits of an alcoholic even though he's usually depicted drinking soda. In Penacony, SoulGlad has similar effects to alcohol (and also cocaine, as a nod to Coca-Cola's history), but since canon doesn't show him clearly intoxicated, this usually won't be included in my threads either. The extent of it will be general drowsiness and drinking from a flask. I will tag alcohol and intoxication upon request, and will always talk to my partners about their limits.

TRIGGERS: I have none but will respect my partner's boundaries.

NSFW: Sexual NSFW is a no, and graphic descriptions of gore will be kept to a minimum.

POST FORMATTING: I use small text but nothing else. I don't care how my partner formats their posts as long as it's legible. I'm here to RP so readability > aesthetic.

A foul-mouthed, disillusioned, chain smoking British cinic, John Constantine has had an affinity for magic since his youth. After running away from home as a teenager after a botched curse caused his father to become withered and frail, John eventually made his home in London. Quickly becoming involved in the city's occult circles. From there he made a name for himself for being a powerful sorcerer, one who can solve most problems with only his wit, but also a weirdness magnet. Becoming inevitably linked with forces truly out of his depth.

Though John's age varies across media, for simplicity's sake I will keep it at 43. His usual stomping ground is London, but he travels around very often for various reasons so he can easily be put wherever he needs to be. He's a very easy character to add to other universes (just ask DC).

He is also a relentless flirt, please don't mistake this as me trying to force a ship. If you / your character don't like his advances, feel free to let me / him know ic / ooc. Characters under 25 are too young for him.

Tagging X Reader Fics

Hey all - I saw this post going around and wanted to make an easy, two-cents kind of post to go with it.

Primary Point: If you want to keep your tags clean, Moonpaw's request actually helps. You can tag "x reader " "reader insert" and then just the character name. Instead of 4-5 different ways the fandom uses a character name plus all those variations of that name and x reader.

Example:

[ x reader, reader insert, donquixote doflamingo, doflamingo, doffy]

vs

[donquixote doflamingo x you, donquixote doflamingo x reader, doffy x you, doffy x reader, doflamingo x you, doflamingo x reader, doflamingo x y/n, etc.... ]

Secondary Point: I love Fantasticsnail's description of x reader as a sort of RPG journey style story. Sometimes there's parts of the character insert that need to be defined for the story's sake, and generally there aren't, and sometimes we define parts because it' comforts us as writers (and sometimes those variants aren't for everyone And That Is Okay Too.)

Just make sure you tag your stuff.

You can warn about other details in your CW or Notes prior to the story start. If you want folks to know you prefer y/n, or you use [name] or whatever, that's a good place to do it.

I'm not saying you *have* to do things this way, but too much variance in tags makes it hard for people to avoid what they want to avoid.

Just like you don't want to surprise someone with dark content unexpectedly, you don't want to surprise them with x reader or even canon x canon!

Oh yeah, I kinda figured she'd still be referred to as Patty! I just like to tag posts with characters and their full names. The thing with Richard (Hedony) is that he also shares a name with Richard (Carmen's husband) hence why I tag Rick as Rick Hedony instead of Richard Hedony. Makes things a little less confusing. I'm doing a similar thing with Patty!

I know there aren't any other characters named Patty but again, it's for the sake of simplicity, plus I just like to tag things that way for whatever reason.

Similarly, if any other characters' full names are revealed I would change their tags! But Skid and Pump would be an exception. I dunno. it just feels wrong to refer to them as anything other than Skid and Pump

OKAYOKAY SO teehee a ramble about my Callum design under the cut so that way it doesn't take up a buncha space!

ALRIGHTY PUTTIN THE DUSTY YAPS TAG TO GOOD USE!!!!

So, I'll start with his outfit since it's the simplest thing about my version of her design.

>>: So, I wanted to keep the usual purple suit and star spangled tie, but I felt like it just needed a little more to it's design. I decided to give him a blue-ish suit vest to kinda add more blue to his design since I felt like the blue of their tie stood out a lil too much on its own. Originally, I was gonna keep his suit coat buttoned, but then you wouldn't be able to see the vest. So I keep it unbuttoned when I'm drawin her.

Next, I know that in canon depictions of her, he keeps his sleeves and pantlegs down over its arms and legs. But due to how I draw his prosthetics, I felt like they're too big and bulky to fit. So I took a note from current day Callum and had her roll up the pantlegs and sleeves. But aside from that, that's pretty much all I changed about their outfit.

>>: But speakin of her prosthetics, I understand the way I designed them is way different from his canon design. But that's for a reason. This shits got LORE. So, with it's prosthetic arm, I've kinda changed it up a bit over the many times I've drawn him. I'm still tryna figure out a good, fittin look for it. Cuz I really love the whole armor based arm, but I wanna make it look like a mix of how it's depicted in Callum's tale and his character sprites. So far, I think I'll stick with how I depicted it in my most recent art, but lemme describe some lil things I changed from canon.

First of all, I gave him claws. As shown in the art that's my pfp, you can see a little screw in the nail bed. That's because he can take them off. They're held on by screws. It's just for times when she needs to be careful with his hands, like if it's messin with wires n stuff, they wouldn't wanna risk cuttin them with his claws. But it keeps them on for self-defense reasons most of the time in case he just so happens to find herself in hand to hand combat.

I added those lil circle things on their wrist as they help him move it around. There's a buncha lil mechanisms in it's hand, and there's this pully system that connects to the inside of the wrist. When he moves said wrist, those circle joints spin as the gears inside move. Allowin the same wrist mobility that his organic wrist does. Everythin else on the outside of her prosthetic arm is just metal plates to keep everythin inside protected. Aside from the mobility in their wrist and hand, the rest of his arm is kinda stiff due to how thick the metal is. But hey, safety is important.

>>: Now, the tail. I consider the tail to be a prosthetic, too, just like all the other metal pieces she has attached to her body. Except it kinda goes right into their spine, usin his tailbone as a base it's attached on. The cord itself is a flat-ish, thick rubber case over wires that connect to the plug. The rubber allows for better tail mobility so he can express himself better. Not only that, but because it's flat-ish instead of round, it allows him to actually hold and grip things with it securely. And the plug is just for connectin. It's a landline type plug like most rotary phones have. Usually, I actually forget to draw the prongs on it, or every so often, I choose not to draw them for simplicity sake.

>>: Onto the prosthetic legs. I'd say they're the most obvious thing I changed about it. But it's also for a reason, as most of my design changes hold reason. It's for practicality. For my version, I headcannon that she kept her old prosthetics for a long time after he made them, but after a while, once they got successful, he had access to better supplies and decided to remake them. The old ones were stiff and lacked the mobility it desired. So in remakin them, he added more joints to get around easier.

Startin with the knee, it's a ball joint, like a doll. The metal bit above the knee itself is what connects the knee to the thigh. It's also what allows the knee to move as the joint is directly connected to it. In my newest art of him, you can actually see the ball joint as most of the time when he's standin, it's hidden by the connector I just explained.

Then, for the calf, I decided to keep the metal bars, but I decided to make a bend in the middle to replicate animal legs. It's for better balance and mobility as the knee is level with the foot, and if the rest of the calf was level, the metal bars bein straight would just make her leg stiff like the old ones. So it has a bend in there. And don't worry, it's supported on the inside of the leg, so there's no worry of it snappin.

For the ankles and feet, it has the same mechanism as his wrist and hand does. But I decided to add a dewclaw for more balance. I feel like it's all a lot more practical than their canon prosthetics. Better mobility and balance is key.

>>: And for their head, I barely changed anythin aside from givin him a cord to connect her transmitter to it's head like most phones have. It just makes sense.

I was poked to do this months ago, twice at least - once by @docholligay and I think the second was @jeejyboard, but I can't find the tag for the life of me. SORRY. I felt like doing something a bit more meta today re:writing and post about The Process, and this was a perfect excuse - thanks for thinking of me. So here's some actual effort! I went and dug deep, trawled through some really old stuff, which was fun. I write and scribble down way, way more than I actually polish and post (which I assume is probably normal, but who knows). 

General info, for whoever is interested: I mostly use Google Docs with offline backups for fic writing, as I shift between computers a ton, and I put fandom tags at the start of my filenames for organisation. I have a ton of prompt/meme/ask/event collection files - for example, the very latest: "[BG3, STRAHD, SM] Fic Prompts 2024". In these I jot down both the prompts people send or that are listed and the ideas/outlines/notes for each, then when I really get going with a certain fic I spin it off into a separate document. 

I hate coming up with titles and usually do that last, so most of my document names are silly references for my own amusement or just a boring old brief description of the main concept. For instance, my latest posted fic Cerimonia Compedum was for most of its WIP-hood known simply as "[BG3] Tadpoled Isobel". Sometimes I keep different versions/revisions/parts of the same WIP in different files, and if that's the case I've grouped them here. Note that for simplicity's sake this post includes my "solo" fic only, no collabs or coauthored stuff, of which there is also a bunch. 

Some of these are ancient and hit me in the face with "12 years ago" timestamps. Some ficlets will never make it out of the mixed prompt plot bunny dumping grounds into their own doc. I think Sailor Moon 10-ish years ago was the one outlier fandom where I actually wrote most of my concepts out fully and posted them. The ol' brain is currently overproducing stuff for the more recent BG3 flavoured moon lesbians (and no, that ship name will never stop throwing my HaruMichi-loving ass for a loop). Note that some of the SU WIPs on the list I've already posted about here, here, here, and here.

2023 Writing Cross Stitch Round Up

I'm pretty proud of my cross stitch journey this year! 20 finished pieces since April!

911 Lone Star- my first Lone Star cross stitch project, created with an image of the Lone Star logo and a free pattern generator I found online. It had been a couple years since I had done any cross stitching. Working on this one was a bit of a painful week because it involved the reestablishment of my stitching calluses on my fingers.

I'm a fireman, our codes are like...fire!- The first in a series where I took a quote from the show and went on Etsy to find a pattern for some kind of image that I thought worked well with the quote. At this point, I didn't have the confidence (or the software) to come up with my own more complex patterns.

Sure, ma'am, but just so you know, I am a homosexual-Still one of my favorites. However, it was early in my cross stitching journey, so when I look at it, a few major mistakes jump out at me. This is such an excellent quote that I think I want to do an improved version at some point.

Is the lizard back?-I did this one in honor of Lou II after I found a perfect bearded dragon pattern available on Etsy.

Firefighters, you really are a smug bunch-I really like this one. I found a firetruck pattern on Etsy and modified it a bit, including changing the number on it to 126.

I was peckish and I wanted pudding- This is a simple one, but I created the pattern myself. From the second I heard this line, I knew it had to be a cross stitch.

It absolutely wrecks people- Cow eyes. I like this one except for the fact that I took a horrible picture of it. I think I finished it at night and was so excited to post that I couldn't wait for daylight to get a brighter picture. It's always a struggle to get a picture that's bright enough but also doesn't have the shadow of my phone across it. Luckily, since then I've discovered the perfect place in my house to take cross stitch pictures, even at night!

Did you know that honeybees pollinate a third of our food supply?- I was originally going to have four little honeybees on this one, but the finale had just aired and I was dying to get going on my planned Tarlos vows project, so it ended up just getting one bee.

Tarlos wedding vows- It took 7 weeks and a comically large hoop, but I got it done. I mapped out this pattern before I had pattern making software meaning I did it by hand with pencil and paper. Plotting out the words, making sure everything was centered, making sure it would all fit, etc was quite an ordeal!

Tarlos proposal- This was the first pattern I created with my new pattern making software and it's still one of my favorites. It's love ❤️

Typical TK- I really like this one but I didn't include the full quote for simplicity's sake (leaving out the "of course") and I kind of regret that now.

We make a pretty good team-This one did not turn out the way I saw it in my head, so there were moments that I kind of hated it. Ultimately, I'm ok with it.
