I don't know who needs to hear this but Colin didn't just "realize his feelings cause Penelope had a makeover and she was moving on from him, which makes him an ass cause he never even looked at her before"
Colin was always very fond of her. He struggled with her absence when she didn't write him back. He felt bad when she told him how much his words had hurt her. He started to spend more time with her because of their lessons. Penelope started to radiate more confidence because of her makeover and of course he noticed that.
They kissed and that's when he realizes he maybe does feel more for her than he always thought. And yes a kiss can totally do that. So of course the thought of her being with someone else troubles him exactly because of these feelings he developed.
Hope that helps and thanks for coming to my Ted talk

the way people post strangers on the internet has honestly killed any motivation to go out in public for me. My setup isn't really ergonomic and using my keyboard hurts my wrist and for a second I thought, "Maybe I should use the computers at the library" and immediately shut down the idea because what if someone makes a video of this woman at the library writing fanfiction that's so cringe and it goes viral and now I can never get a job all because I did something slightly embarrassing outside the privacy of my home. people on tiktok have literally ruined lives for likes to the point people don't want to be outside anymore

This is in response to some arguments in defense of the finale I've seen recently, and if you do believe these, then more power to you! But I disagree, and I'm gonna talk about why.
Rant under the cut. Fair warning, this gets pretty salty.
So I've seen a lot of arguments about how it just wouldn't be possible to have Adrien in the final battle, whether it be because it would be too traumatic for him and we can't explore that in the middle of a fight, or because it would take away focus from Marinette and she would be irrelevant ultimately. And I actually agree!
But what could possibly be done to resolve this? Oh, I know! Fucking write better.
If you were going to put Adrien in the position of being central to the story and write him out with the excuse that he can't live up to that role for various reasons, then why did you write him in that role? It's obvious to anyone that if Gabriel is Adrien's father, then the emotional weight of the conflict would be centered on him and not Marinette. Then why did you still write that into the show? If you wanted to focus on Marinette over Adrien anyway, then why did you make Gabriel be Hawkmoth? Let some other rando be Hawkmoth! And now there's no value to Gabriel being the villain beyond giving Marinette some material for her grand speech (which didn't do shit cause she still lost).
And if you were going to say that Adrien was too traumatized to be in the battle or that he wouldn't be able to deal with it well or that we couldn't see that... write around it? Have him deal with it before, or something, I don't know! Maybe give him that sweet sweet character development? Maybe let the friends who are supposed to support him actually do that? Idk man, this is all coming across as a bunch of excuses to me.
The thing is, this is a kids show. It's not real. The writers control everything that happens. It's not about "realism," it's about narrative payoff. It's about the most satisfying outcome. It's about character arcs. If Adrien was never supposed to face his father in a fight, then why make him a superhero? Could have just let him be Adrien the teen model love interest while Marinette is the superhero. Why give him powers which thematically represent him breaking free from his oppressive life and an enmity with his own father if it never mattered? If "it's us against the world, my lady," and "we'll get all the Miraculous back together," never mattered, then why include it? If two partners chosen to fight evil together and the yin-yang symbolism never mattered, why set it up?
If you set something up, you have a responsibility to deliver on it, and Miraculous failed. And yeah. I get that it's hard. I'm not saying writing is easy. But anything is better than this! Writing is your job, and I don't expect literal perfection, but I expect it to fulfill the basic expectations of writing. I expect it to at least be good. This is not good. They literally ignored their own story and themes and character arcs and narrative payoff because they wanted Marinette to get a swanky new outfit and a cool fight scene. It wasn't even for her character. It's just so that they can put give her a cool power-up and sell Bug Noire dolls. It's disrespectful to Adrien's character, and it's disrespectful to Marinette's character too.
The writers failed to make Marinette interesting in terms of the conflict with Gabriel. They gave all the set-up to Adrien and didn't want to write the payoff. There are no emotional stakes in the final battle. They literally only talk about Adrien, and he's not there for that. It's bad writing. And if they didn't let Adrien be a part of the arc with his father as the villain, what hope does he have in the arcs with Lila as the antagonist, since she is a Marinette-centric villain? TA has already said that Marinette is Barbie and Adrien is just Ken. The writers have said that Gabriel is considered a hero by the end of Season 5. The show bible says that Adrien will never find out that his father is Hawkmoth.
Let's face it, they aren't coming back to this. Gabriel's era is over. Miraculous is well known for setting up conflicts and dropping them like a hot potato. If we ever deal with this, it's gonna be half an episode of Adrien forgiving Marinette because "she did it out of love." None of this will matter come Season 6. The supposed conflict being set up now will matter to Season 6 as much as the Ladynoir set up in Strikeback with the "we'll take back all the Miraculous together, you and me," mattered to Season 5, which is to say not at all.

... Oh god damnit! I just realized why I keep associating Rung with mid-century design and fashion. First of all, it has to do with his holoform.
(( courtesy of transformers wiki and reddit respectively but taken straight from the comics))
Now you might be thinking, "Freyr what are you talking about? The first image doesn't look anything like pictures of men in the 60s and 70s and the second one looks victorian!" And you'd mostly be right but also, WRONG! Mid-century design started as early as the 30s/40s! At least what we actively refer to as mid-century design got it's start then and really came into swing in the 1950s before dropping off right as the 80s hit. And even then, Rung's first holoform wouldn't have been too out-of-touch for the 60s in some academic circles. And then there's the side-burns! Sideburns were HUGE in the 60s and 70s!
But the real problem is Rung himself. Look at this bastard!
(( comic cover)) Look at his color scheme! Look at that specific shade of orange that he is compared to the light blue/teal of his optics and spark window! Look at it!
Then look at this!!!
This is just an example but that same fucking shade of orange is all over mid-century design and mid-century revival! EVERYWHERE!! And it's especially paired with that same shade of lightblue/teal (they're complimentary colors so it makes sense but the point stands). I am hip fucking deep in interior design these days while I try to build a portfolio for an interior decorating business and mother fucker every time I look at Rung by brain goes "Huh...why do I feel like Rung is/would like mid-century design?"
*gestures emphatically above*
THAT'S why! It's the sideburns and outfit and his fucking color scheme!! It's like it's hard-wired in my brain to associate the two! Fucking hell! Why the fuck didn't I see it before?!

i know it's still too early to say, but i hope daima really gives other characters (shin) (listen it's my account name) some love. i have been ranting about how shin is a great character since, *checks notes*, forever, and with how little he is in z and super you would think he's a main character with how i don't shut up about him. my friends have luckily not broken contact with me despite this character flaw of mine
y'all... seeing him on that dinosaur with goku in the little daima poster... i really wish i could quantify to my friends exactly how out of the blue it is and how perfect of a choice it is. i really hope that shin will get to shine in the story. really if they treat him like they did in the manga ver of the goku black arc i will be overjoyed
p.s. if you haven't read the manga and you love shin you really should read that arc. he gets shit done and it's like the only time goku listens to him ever

rewatching s7 aos and i remember how much fun my brother and i had watching each ep weekly
i'm currently up to 'the totally excellent adventures of mack and the d'. jeff's cover should be on the radio so i can just listen to it on my drives to work
costumes, hair, makeup, set design, everything about this season was so enjoyable and it makes me truly miss non-svod tv programming.
episodes aired at a particular time and you know others are watching it with you. episodes came weekly and i didn't have to wait a few years for the next season. don't get me wrong, i love the convenience of svod distribution and the time/budget it gives for a show to be made, but maybe i'm just old and miss the full-length seasons of ridiculous 20+ eps and 'filler episodes'.
i remember my mum getting my brother and i to record episodes on our vhs every night so she could watch her asian dramas when she got back from work. i'd record eps of doctor who if i couldn't watch it live ahhhhh back in the day lollll

Hi fellow doll, I hope you're doing fine. I've been quite busy lately, college and life in general have been kicking my ass, so I was forced to take a step back from social media for a while to try to contain the chaos.
Firstly, I'd like to share a fun fact with you! I don't know if you're aware but did you know that Lou's Mansion has a Pool? You can see it more clearly in the Mansion's Concept Designs/Art on this site:
However, the real reason for this ask is to present a possible answer/theory in regards to how the doll-sized phones came to be in the world of your stories (you can tell this is still related to our chat on Wattpad).
Recently, I came across the images you're seeing on Pinterest. They're Wide/Aerial Views of the Institute of Perfection and one thing that immediately stood out to me is that Giant Eye-Catching Dome behind the TV.
I mean what's its purpose, why is it even there to begin with and what's inside of it? I've been thinking about this for a while and would like to hear your thoughts about it as well, if you're willing to share them.
By any chance, have you seen the movie Wreck-it Ralph? There was a part where the villain enters the code of the game he's in and I think the Dome's purpose could follow a similar, if not equal, vein.
Now that I think about it, Lou and Vanellope's circunstances are almost identical, trapped in the same place for years without the option to leave, simply because of who they are and the traits they were born with, but didn't choose to have.
Sorry, I let my mind run on tangent there for a while, it wanders frequently which makes it hard to keep track of my line of thought.
To circle back to the main topic of discussion, what if the Dome is a Central Station of the Institute, like a Panel or Center for Command Control (or Command Control Center)? CCC for short? Ok, I'll stop trying to be funny...
Perhaps it could be a subroutine of the factory's software, a program linked to its network and wifi that contains all guidelines and rules that govern the Institute and must be followed and executed to keep it functional - a blueprint if you will - and is in charge of all commands, protocols, activities and operations being compiled and run by its machinery, such as the doll-scanner, the robots, the washing machine, the recycling, the Gauntlet plus the mechanical baby and dog and the Portal, just to name a few.
This means that it'd also take care of overseeing the integrity and performance of said machinery as well as its maintenance. It'd even be responsible for generating clouds and the artificial weather because apparently weather is still a thing, even though the Institute is inside of a factory.
I wonder if this subroutine would be run by an AI or simply an intelligent system/computer program. This world's version of Siri? 🤣
Or maybe I'm greatly exaggerating its function/letting my imagination run wild and it literally only gives Electricity for TV and Institute. Where was I going with this? /were we again?
Morever, it could be a storage unit that contains all collected, analysed and reviewed data regarding the inhabitants of the Institute and their responses, physical or emotional, to certain pre-determined stimuli.
It could also have a list of the factory's Perfection Standards: what consists/constitutes a Perfect Doll / product, its traits...
what can go to the market and which flaws/imperfections can't be ignored/overlooked and have to go to the recycling immediately, kinda like separating fruit/food
To sum up, it's the Institute's "rulebook", but instead of being specifically made for the prototype, it's more expansive and focuses on the Institute as a whole.
After the events of the movie, dolls with engineer role job created phones with recicled parts dangerous/turned the recycling into a good thing/while recycling was turned of and parts are human sized, plenty to spare and create phone since dolls come back now, have free time to assemble the parts and construct them and connected them to the signals/frequency emitted by the dome or they hack/steal or find out the password/'hijack' the signals🤣, use it to make them connect with each other but can't enter the dome without proper authorizations/permissions
Fun fact #2: Lou animatronic, would be a hipocrite if he called the Uglydolls "Ugly" has never seen a Mirror before
•https://www.indigobluepencil.com/ugly
Scroll almost to the middle (pre-planned concepts: dome by TV and washing machine, Big baby, Lou, Mandy, Tuesday and Kitty, Victoria, Perfection Council/of Dolls=board of investors directors reference)
Had to restart Two Times... I hope you found this ask both entertaining and informative. Hopefully it'll give you Inspiration for your stories...
Okay, I had to do quite a bit of research and asked someone who knows a lot more about computers than I do.
So, I do agree that the dome has an electronic purpose. It really surprises me that STX animated an entire dome within the Institute and literally spoke nothing of it or what's inside of it. Like, seriously, it's huge and can't just be empty on the inside.
My theory, after some research, is that the inside of the dome is essentially a hard drive computer tower. For you younger folk who weren't raised in a 90's home, here's what I'm talking about:
These things right here used to be what would get hooked up to older Dell/Windows computers. The ones that weighed, like, 50 pounds and took up an entire desk.
Instead of a dvd player (which I didn't get one until maybe 8 years old) I would stick my Kidz Bop cd or movie into that slot at the top and watch the movie on the computer with Video Player.
Count your blessings.
But this is what I believe is inside that dome. These things are what holds the CPU (central processing unit), GPU (graphic processing unit), and stores the memory, data, audio, and everything of the computer.
@natalie-the-writer and I have a running fanon that the company is older. The technology is older, the building is older, and everything is set in a pretty retro time period. So, this hard drive tower is connected to those bulky take-up-all-the-space-on-the-desk-computers.
The GPU in this system is also what control the day/night cycle in the Institute and the weather. It essentially simulates a troposphere and an environment that makes the dolls comfortable and prepared for the Big World.
The CPU is how the data is transferred. Info from the robots is controlled and processed, the Individualization scanners are monitored, the portal is opened and closed, the TV runs, and the holographic tutorials Moxy and her friends see in the beginning are kept on, all of it.
It basically functions as the brain of the Institute, but the sole controller and monitor of it is the CEO (Greyson Everett).
I also like to think that Lou's microchip (another fanon thought between Natalie and I) is also monitored via this hard drive tower. Any information that Lou learns and processes is sent into separate files on the computers back in the company building.
This is why in my Shell-Shock series, when Lou's emotions go south, the Institute begins to get windy when he's hyperventilating or rains when he cries. The ground trembles when he has body tremors and the lights flicker when his powers are used. He is literally connected to the whole Institute because his microchip and its data accidentally grow and manifest themselves into the files of the other Institute functions. His programming basically goes rogue and infects the Institute system like a virus.
I'm veering toward the explanation that results in Lou being the first successful form of Artificial Intelligence. But, for the moment, he is basically acting like a virus and it's not until he learns to control this new system he's connected to that it stops becoming a deadly thing.
#uglydolls#lou#writing#ask#answer#theories#fanon theories#feel free to have your own thoughts#I'm just ranting#this is so interesting thank you for asking this

I'm seeing more and more people trying to say shit about Nicola and Luke and their relationship. Claiming that he's annoyed by her and that she should be embarrassed by her behaviour...usually I wouldn't comment and honestly it doesn't even matter but I love this cast and hate the way some people are speaking about her.
They're friends. It's obvious that they care for one another and always have fun together. But they're also traveling a lot and that must be tiring. Plus not everyone can smile or laugh every second of every day
Weirdos just need to shut it and leave them both alone lol

This is all about a fictional character that I'm still emotional over. In the end, it's all fiction and I'm aware of that - but there's also a reflection in how certain characters are treated in comparison with real life outlooks and experiences of actual humans who aren't fictional...
I also believe that there's room for dark shit, messed up shit, evil characters and that these aspects of fiction don't always reflect the author's true self. We're story tellers. I like my dark, fucked up shit the same as many other people - but in the end, I don't like cruelty in real life. I don't like a lot of shit that I'd happily write about, because it causes a story to be told - and something to think about, or things to hold up to society and say 'hey, lookit'.... And sometimes, it just for shits and giggles, if we're being real about things. However, I will forever be pissed off over how certain shit played out where one fictional character is concerned, and here's just a small bit of why. It involves both fiction and reality, and the reality that sometimes, some characters are treated in ways that reflect how some people are seen in real, every day life...
They did Glenn Rhee wrong in TWD main series.
They took meaning from his character outside of being Mr. Maggie for a good portion of the show. They didn't allow much back story either; what do we actually know of Glenn from the show's history? Not the comics or games or anything but the show? Really, what do we know? When they were in the prison and he was very angry, that was probably one of the highlights of him not being a ray of sunshine somehow, or a positive aspect ready to overcome the darkness. Steven Yeun has spoken on how flat he felt the character was served when it came to emotional reactions beyond a certain point. Goodness isn't a bad characteristic at all, neither is optimism, but there is a sense of lacking within Glenn's stories that don't show the layers of personality and worries and struggles behind those aspects of self. The only real time we saw was the showdown with Nicholas in the woods, and even that felt rushed and hushed in a sense. They made a sacrificial lamb of a person, and writers even admitted to not knowing what to do with him. So what if his character died in the comics? Do you realize how much they changed for so many different characters before that point? For instance, Carol's survival and Sophia's demise. Not to mention Daryl's whole existence as a character. Why couldn't they do the same for Glenn, defy the 'logic' of 'it happened in the comics', and why couldn't they give him more back story while they were at it?
And now, all these people wanting to ship Maggie and Negan, like Glenn doesn't matter at all. It rips at his humanity in ways I don't even want to talk about, but I'm sure people aren't thinking of that when they want those two to kiss. Who cares, right? Glenn's just a dead Asian man that y'all never cared about while he was alive anyway... And it runs deeper than that for some of you, but we won't get into that because I don't have the energy right now. After all, people who are racist in that way won't change because they either don't have the ability to see themselves for their true shit (and try to think about why and how to change that outlook) or they just don't give a fuck about it because they're unapologetically and proudly against either a certain set of humans with certain features or whatever it is they're stupid over, or they don't like interracial couples and don't give a shit to realize that we're all fucking humans and we're all connected in some way or another.... :x
But yeah. I'll always be salty about this, and the fact that Glenn's character could have been so much more than they let him be in the end. Then again, I think he and Daryl should have hooked up instead, but that's just me? But you know, so much of the TWD fandom would have shit itself over that pairing....
#glenn rhee#steven yeun#I'm just ranting#and if you've got an opinion about my opinion you can keep it to yourself because I'm not going to argue with people about how I legit FEEL#like seriously if you don't like this don't interact with me about it at all#just keep on keeping on

I deactivated my old tumblr way back in 2014? 2015? This place use to be so toxic, so it's a little scary coming back. If all the toxic people moved to Twitter after I quit.....are they all coming back now? LOLL I remember hate blogs were a thing, for so long. Posting here was so stressful cuz they'd tag their hate posts in your own tags, so I wouldn't even look through my tags in fear someone said something about my art. 🥲 Obviously there's haters everywhere, but on Twitter at least I could block them and leave them to it...y'know? Here it felt like there was just pages dedicated to it. ughh

Once you've worked on a few film sets, the whole star-factor really does kind of go away, especially when you're a crew member.
Like I'll be on set looking at actors like 🤨. Because actors and actresses are some of the oddest people I've ever interacted with and TV just doesn't want you to know that.
Like any time I'm on set and an actor starts being a way I just give him this look
