For the character meme. I love your hornsent OCs and thus wanted to know your thoughts on Messmer!

Ah, thanks for the kind words about my guys, I love them and I appreciate it so much! And what about Messmer... ho-ho, that's a tricky one. Anyways, let's go.

favorite thing about them

First of all, I have a lifelong weakness for morally ambiguous red-haired spearsmen, as sir Ornstein can confirm. But fine, that was a joke, let's get serious for a moment. The key thing for Messmer, the core of his story and his character, is love. He loves his mother - quite simple, isn't it? But in fact no, it isn't simple. Because he loves her, more than anything else in the world, more than himself. This love is bigger than any destruction and harm it brings, even to Messmer himself, this love is the reason for all things, it's the basis of all things. And Messmer can't hurt what he loves so much, he can't deny this love, he can't deny his mother, because if he does, what's next? It was everything. Literally everything. So of course he does things for her, some things that he likes, some things that he doesn't like, some things that he would never do if not her. I think I can relate with this after a fashion, but this is not what made me love his story and his character. I love it because in the end of the day that love was hollow. It wasn't enough to overcome fear, hatred and vengeance. It wasn't enough for Marika to save Messmer, and he realizes it...

least favorite thing about them

...too late. I don't believe that Messmer sympathized with the hornsent in a slightest during his crusade, but I do believe that he had his doubts that grew as time - and war - went on. I'm sure he, unlike most of the crusaders, knew the truth about the shamans, about his mother's vengeance - and his mother was everything to him, right? He had no reason to sympathize with savages capable of such horrific acts - and so he didn't, completely ignoring how horrific and savage he himself was. It was for his mother and the new civilized world she was building, so what's wrong with a little hypocrisy here? But the war went on and on and on, and the lands were shrouded in shadows, and the mother stopped answering, and Messmer and his army were left in oblivion, alone with the deserved hatered, far from everything they had fought for. Their purpose got blurred, their guidance faded, and I believe that's when Messmer began to ask himself - why? Why is he going on, why is he fighting? And he could have answered that question - but he didn't, because the answer was "there's no reason", because answering meant acknowledging that nothing he had done really mattered, that all his love and suffering was a waste. Eventually, he was not strong enough - brave enough - to admit it before his dying breath, which was too late. I can't say I dislike his ending (I'm writing it in this paragraph mainly because I'm too curious to see an alternative), but I still wish he could overcome his fear earlier, when it could still change something - though it's a FromSoft game, so obviously it's not an option given their brilliant taste in tragedy.

It's always hard to pick favourite lines in a FromSoft game, because... idk, I just love the dialogue and the voice acting in these games. But if I had to choose, it would be...

My glorious boar-riding man Gaius! I just love how Messmer, mommy's personal machine for eradicating everything graceless, befriended artificial (!) graceless (!!) dude who was persecuted by almost everyone in the Lands Between and made him his deputy. It's also mentioned that they had common ground in that they both were cursed from birth, so their friendship seems to come from a genuine understanding of each other's struggle. In general, I think that this is an interesting adittion to Messmer's overall portrait and a bittersweet dynamic of two cursed beings finally finding understanding in one another.

Rellana, because I'm a hopeless fan of the "liege and their a bit too loyal knight" dynamic. However, I hc their relationships as unresolved/platonic because both of them put their duty in the crusade first, and it's generally not a smart move to show open love when you're surrounded by people who'd gladly take away everything you love as revenge. I also don't like it when Rellana is reduced to just Messmer's gf instead of a fearsome sorceress and military commander in her own right.

To be honest, I have yet to see a pairing with him that would straight up frustrate me. For the most part, my reaction is just indifference. But if I had to pick one, it would probably be Godwyn/Messmer, just because there are so many so much more interesting dynamics for both of them.

random headcanon

He was the son of Radagon and Marika, born during Marika's marriage to Godfrey, and was officially recognized as a bastard (this is why he's sir Messmer and not lord Messmer). In the beginning Godfrey wasn't a big fan of him for obvious reasons, but over time their relationship became more tender; by the time of Godfrey's exile Messmer sincerely viewed him as father, even without blood relation.

unpopular opinion

I don't thing he had a close relationship with Melina - in fact, I don't think he was even aware of her existence. Fandom often portrays them as twins for some reason, but the "younger sister" can be centuries younger when we're talking about demigods - and in my hcs, she was. So no cute Melina&Messmer fanart for me.

Usually that's because people don't see what happens when she doesn't pay attention to him.

thank @lostyesterday for tagging me in a WIP game, only... at the moment I have just one WIP loosely called "post-canon B7 that's prequel to the other long fic I wrote". If I'm talking about a scenario you can be sure im talking about this fic, so between this and having remade the blog I don't know if I'd get any asks about it lol. However I could talk about it forever, so that's what I'm going to do. If (and that's a big if!) I actually write it, it's probably going to be the biggest, and likely also the last, of my Trek projects.

Concept: B'Elanna and Seven unexpectedly reunite post-canon when they're both at the lowest points in their lives (post-divorce, post-Icheb dying). Planet-bound without their own means of transportation, they're both hired by the Fenris Rangers to refurbish old starships in a post-synth ban world where starships are now scarce, but only long enough until they can refurbish shuttles of their own and finally be able to leave the surface of Fenris. Working together though brings back memories of a life that feels now so much better than all the regrets B'Elanna and Seven have accumulated since their return to the AQ... and even if there are for both chances to radically alter their life in ways that would bring them closer to everything they've always wanted (acceptance and community—the biggest representative of this being a Klingon OC I've been developing), their common past on Voyager and wounded disillusionment about the Federation is as much an inescapable gravity well as the surface of Fenris.

Problems I'm having:

there's a huge amount of research, in several fields, that I'd have to do. The more time passes the more I realize that I don't know how to do research properly and even if I've known for a long time that I needed said research I haven't really started because I'm very scared I'll get everything wrong (it's part of the reason why I've been thinking about quitting writing, or at the very least not posting my creative output online any longer. I am bad at the basics of writing)

while I have a pretty definite idea of what I want to say with this fic, the plot is uh... pretty vague beside a few events I am fairly sure of. The rest is quite literally up in the air. I suppose if I knew how to "immerse myself in the research" I would get more inspiration but again, see above

with no fixed deadlines I just won't start anything. I've been thinking about joining events like the femslash big bang 2025 to give myself a fighting chance at finishing this but there are plot points (ie a significant m/f relationship) that disqualifies this project, I think. Plus, a single deadline won't help with it, I'd need a roadmap, but who's ever going to hold me accountable except myself? and I know that asshole and she's flaky as hell

there are a few scenes that are crystal clear in my head but I'm afraid that if I write them down first I will lose any interest I have in connecting them through the larger plot

I'd have to actually buy a Scrivener license because I plotted the whole thing out on there last summer (which was still when I thought I could write this prequel like I'd written the first fic in 2023. silly me) and now the trial period has expired 💀💀💀

what would help immensely is if I found someone who will both yell at me when I need to do better and encourage me when I feel down but I've been very reluctant to ask anyone because I don't know who would even like the concept of this fic except myself. Hell the whole point is that B'Elanna and Seven are never in a relationship throughout, much less at the end of it, even though of course they're fully in each other's head. It's just... too much to ask anyone to share in all this mess, I think.

this is Bri! the excitable youngest member of this little group! she loves coffee rolls, vocaloid, animals, new people, and girls!! shes a clueless little sapphic and allie's younger sister! no matter what, if you meet her, she'll greet you with a wave and a smile! (she won't like it if you use her full first name, Brianna, since in her own words, "the only people who use it are fancy adults, teachers, and my big sis when i'm in trouble!'') she's very playful and childish, and a pacifist due to a promise with her older sister! closest character to her is DW!Aubrey and her voice claim is Homaru Naegi from Danganronpa: Ultra Despair Girls!

speaking of her, this is Allison/Allie! she’s the older sister of her friend group, quite literally! also the only adult, she tries her best to keep everything balanced with the chaos. while she used to do magic shows for fun, she stopped once she became a adult. though, she still wears her mini top hat and keeps her wand, just for fun. she’s also the most popular in her friend group, because of her charm and looks! Her voice claim is Monika from DDLC and she's also the character most like Allie personality-wise!

third, there's Miley! he's quite standoffish and rude, attempting to be distant. he doesn't trust people easily, but if you bring up a topic he likes he will ramble before realizing that he didn't mean to and stop. if you do become friends, though, he's very protective. him and Bri are the closest of the group, besides Bri and Allie since they're sisters. He curses a lot, and argues with Lavender somewhat. His voice is Fuyuhiko Kuzuryu from Danganronpa 2 and he's most like a mix of Fuuta Kajayama and Es from MILGRAM.

and last but not least, Lavender or Lav! she’s the second older of her friend group, only being passed by Allie. a bit more anxious and shy than most, she still tries her best to treat everyone with kind words along with snacks and drinks! she can be nonverbal when she becomes too anxious or overwhelmed, so she always carries a notepad and pencil in her basket, often along with flowers from the woods behind her house. with her almost always full picnic basket, she’s always happy for more people to comfort! she also refuses to curse, annoying Miley to no end. she's most like Mari from Omori and has no voice claim as of yet.

all of them have semi-dyed hair besides Bri due to a group tradition! (slight purple for Allie, mostly orange for Miley <blonde underneath> and fully pastel purple for Lavender <redheaded underneath>)

if you're wondering about Rini? he's a persona of mine as opposed to a oc, but here's how he looks if you're curious.

his pupils are heart monitors and are often white to show his own heartbeat. the colors change based on who he is watching. (dark purple for allie, yellow for bri, orange for miley, light purple for lavender) his watch is due to him basically being the only one who really knows the outside time. no voice claim for him at this time. ^^

Onycraft is my oldest oc (11 at the time of typing this) and I have been insane about him for that entire period of time so this is gonna be a big post because being concise is the devil (I am genuinely so awful at it) so enjoy this read more buffer for convenience because I am so full of words

Onycraft is a very, weird character to put it bluntly even for me LOL, I was gonna say he doesn't look like it from the outside but that's also a lie he absolutely does.

He was an incredibly dangerous Thingy made in a lab who isn't fully capable of realizing how much he is both just by default and because not even his creators know, that and also because his brain was fried out by that one time he was put in the electric chair for but dw about that, the most intense thing hes ever done in that regard was going into such a catastrophic mental breakdown he proceeded to turn into an eldritch mass for a short period but just long enough to blow a hole through the fucking moon (hence the failed execution thing after he turned back, hes fine)

Regardless of that though and the whole, regularly breaks the laws of his reality by just existing thing, being functionally immortal also has made him extremely impulsive and reckless, tldr he's very good at dying! But he doesn't mind it, he's very selfless too since he knows he can take a lot more hits that other people cant- usually very literally. He cares a LOT about those close to him to a fault and his friends and family are always his top priority, even if he is a goddamn menace to them sometimes, he's a big ol softie if you manage to crack his shell open.

Despite his previous severe brain injuries he is incredibly smart too, even if it seems very off and on from the outside, he's very gifted with technology (mostly from having to repair the mechanical parts of himself so often his whole life) and is also a Huge Nerd (do not ask him about sciencey shit you will be kept there forever). Much to his frustration though those brain injuries also have impaired his ability to do a Lot of things, most severely has been reading and a lot of his fine motor skills. TLDR he built his own personal spaceship but he can barely read the instructions on the back of most food packages.

I am so very normal about this man I could absolutely keep going but I keep spacing out really bad while typing this so I'm gonna have to scruff myself here LOL, I dont mind any further questions though teehee I love talking about this ugly little beast so much hehe

Well, I have nothing on the brain lately regarding Arlong and while Beckman has been on the brain I still have nothing really to share. So, per @kazieai's sharing I got to thinking about one of my snake OC's that I sent in the previous time you asked for gushes.

I'm going with Modeus, or as you described him the "not friend-shaped" & "too bitey" OC. I talked about him since then and honestly couldn't remember anything I had come up with for him because I'm a dork. I had forgotten that I had gifted him a Hiss-Hiss fruit and I now would like to rescind all of that.

As you pointed out to Kaz, her OC could just inherently have wind powers just as easily as all Minks glow like Tesla coils. I've found that how I've constructed Modeus' characterization in terms of personality and diet do not lend themselves well to devil fruits. We haven't really seen a Zoan Devil Fruit that makes the user eat other people. At least, as far as I know, X Drake hasn't regularly consumed a steady diet of people based out of nutritional need.

So I'm thinking Modeus' DF would not give him reason to consume people when he was in full Yuan-ti form. And if he's going to be as old as I want him to be, then he can't have a DF because as far as I know, Marco has the only immortal fruit. Or are there more immortal DF users walking around (because let's face it, I am never going to catch up to speed)? Anyway, I think he needs to actually be a snake person.

Not necessarily the Yuan-ti from the D&D Monster Manual (3.5 edition), but definitely a snake creature that I pattern strongly off the physical appearance of a Yuan-ti.

Is he a member of a reptilian based tribe? Is he a bastardization of some fishman hybrid with god only knows what else? Is he some kind of mutated hybrid offspring of a Sea King? Is he a lab experiment? Is he a demon?

I don't know what the hell he is at this point. But, he does eat people. He does hate pretty much everyone. He can shapeshift sort of into a human-esque being for ease of mobility through populated areas. He does end up joining the Cross Guild.

He still hates that he can't figure out how to eat Alvida. He hates that Buggy is smart enough to avoid being eaten as well. He has a healthy fear (respect) for Daz since he could theoretically skin Modeus alive with literally any part of his own body. He has a solid respect for Mihawk both as a person and as a swordsman (because remember, Modeus dual wields scimitars). And he HATES Sir Crocodile with an unyielding passion.

Why?

No one really knows. Sir Crocodile doesn't care, he just knows Modeus hates him and he banks on that for every last one of their interactions. I still think Trafalgar and Bepo should end up with the Cross Guild now that the Heart Pirates are no longer. Modeus desperately wants to eat Bepo but he has learned not to try because Trafalgar is dangerous enough to be a threat to Modeus' immediate safety and comfort.

Having skinned just enough off of Modeus for a pair of new snake-skin boots certainly got the point across. Trafalgar's people are his people and therefore not for eating.

Mihawk, because he is quite possibly the only HUMAN who gets along with Modeus, makes the suggestion that instead of collecting the bounties of the Marines he could save the Cross Guild the payout by simply eating his bounty. Modeus loves this idea and proceeds to take the most difficult bounties and devours them when he catches them. To make sure he is an honest and contributing member of the Guild, he always brings the bounty back to the Cross Guild alive first, so they can see he isn't lying (this was his own idea, no one has ever questioned his honesty/loyalty) and then takes them into the woods to eat them.

It has been requested by the Guild higher ups that he not eat his quarry at night as it is increasingly difficult to sleep to the sounds of murder and the dying screams of terrified men. Bepo has been suffering profusely from nightmares since they joined the Guild and Mihawk thinks it best that mealtimes for Modeus coincide with everyone else's regular mealtimes.

Once Modeus realizes he's in love with Avalon, he starts offering to share his quarried meals with her. Being the lady of grace that she is, she declines most of the time. Her lamia form does have a "feeding frenzy" mode and when that is active then she takes him up on mealtimes and they eat together.

Which creeps even Trafalgar out. But that only occurs about once every quarter or so. Avalon lives on a DF-mandated schedule whereas Modeus simply is as evil as he can get away with.

Fun facts regarding Modeus and the Admirals. He is ill-paired with former Admiral Aokiji, the popsicle ability does exactly as you would think with a reptile-based lifeform. Slows him down considerably and makes him sluggish. Fleet Admiral Sakazuki has the opposite effect on Modeus and makes him "better" in every way. While Sakazuki strives to avoid confrontations with Modeus, Modeus strives to avoid confrontations with Kuzan.

Issho and Borsalino are neutral regarding Modeus. He doesn't like the gravity effects of Issho's fruit but can work around them if he needs to. Likewise, he isn't as fast as Borsi Baby but the Admiral has a hard time getting through Modeus' scales.

Aramaki on the other hand, well, he's a royal pain in the ass just as Modeus is a royal pain in the ass for him. Modeus is at home in a forest. The Admiral can go as woodsy as he wants and it just helps Modeus. However, the whole regrowing bit drives Modeus up a wall because he cuts a tree limb there and another grows here to replace it. They are equally matched and equally mismatched at the same time. Their fights always end up a stalemate with them hating each other's guts immensely.

Aramaki takes after the Fleet Admiral and tries to avoid confrontations for these reasons whereas Modeus takes after Kuzan and goes out of his way to confront Aramaki just to annoy him. Kuzan in turn likes engaging with Modeus to irritate him, I don't think Kuzan wants to kill him but he does like aggravating him when the opportunity presents itself.

And that's all I have this go-around.

I gotta be honest one of my most favoritest parts about this is how you have the relationships worked out. Who has a leg up where and who doesn't, and it all makes great sense too, I love it.

(I admittedly think it would also be good for Modeus to "experience" Bepo going Sulong during a full moon. I think Law suggests it as a way for Bepo to stand up for himself. At least for a few minutes Modeus realizes he's food to Bepo, not the other way around).

I just really love all the little details though, the slight differences between him and Avalon and how their different circumstances and vibes intertwine and vary.

I look forward you to sorting out the exact details of his origin too ^_^ He might not be friend shaped, but he is interesting.

To clarify, Marco's DF doesn't make him immortal in the "live forever" sense, it just makes him nigh indestructible. He still ages, and will likely die of old age at some point.

That said, there are possibilities for people who are immortal thanks to earlier owners of the Ope-Ope No Mi, so immortality is still a canonical viable thing.

gonna stick to my main character ocs since they have the most stuff about them- i have some side ocs like rue and rene but they are not nearly as developed, so there'd be little to no fun facts for them

i got the idea to kill her parents in a fire from an idea from a year prior to making her, where the main character's home burnt down mysteriously and a wild absol saved them, forcing them to embark on a journey. i never developed this idea much further so i instead recycled elements from this to make rhea and sara.

that main character's pokemon included every eeveeloution, hence where i got her theme from.

originally rhea was also going to be an empath but i figured i liked her being autistic instead, so i switched it.

yes she is canonically autistic

she's polyam! right now the idea is her to be shipped with victoria and saphira.

her family heirloom is called the obsidian starshard- it is the 5th key to the ruins under reborn. long ago one of her ancestors (i assume a grandparent,) stole the starshard and fled reborn for alola. a small branch of the guardians of the ruins chased after them to retrieve it, but they were always evaded. it eventually led to her mother passing it down to her to keep the organization on their toes when they caught up to her years later.

that eventually ended up leading rhea back to reborn. small world, huh?

This is the official ask blog for any of my OC's! Including my main persona OC and other OC's I make!

Here are all the OC's open for asks right now and some facts about them! Note that the colors are how I will make them appear in RP!

Mayflower(May) + Bluebell

May is 18 while Bluebell is 7 (their ages will keep going when in the meadows)

Both are dead, but don't recall how they died or much of the memories they had before dying.

The place their souls reside is in a lovely flower meadow that is filled with a lot of the things that bring a sense of joy and peace. It includes all the things that they like.

Though May has no memory of her past life, she does remember feelings of certain things she once enjoyed (for example, before she died she was an avid magical girl enjoyer. She has a conscious feeling of the joy it brings her to see those kinds of series). Bluebell doesn't have much of these feelings since he was mainly just a bird before and their brains are different from human brains =v=

Bluebell was given the ability to talk once he entered the meadow and understand things the way humans understand them. He's a bit of a literal birdbrain at times still, but he can have extensive memory regarding people and the environment he's in.

He made it to the meadows earlier than May did (by two years at least).

As for May, she arrived in the meadows a little before she turned 18.

May does remember certain personal aspects of herself, however, such as her birthday and being autistic.

May and Bluebell can often be seen together. When May is by herself in the meadows, Bluebell is usually there to guide her. They are both there for each other since both are lonely.

Bluebell likes to perch himself on May's shoulder or rest on her head

May likes to have her solitude, but is generally friendly whenever company drops by. Especially since she hasn't gotten visitors before (nor did she know it was possible!)

She is drawn to many things that give her nostalgia such as old TV shows she watched as a kid, music she listened to often, and other things!

Speaking of music, May is VERY into music. Whether it is listening to it or playing/singing it. The instruments she plays are a violin and a kalimba. Though not a master with those instruments or singing, she still enjoys doing it nonetheless. Especially helpful with how peaceful her environment is for these tunes!

May is able to fly around just like Bluebell since her soul was given wings. She really loves to fly around the meadows.

She wasn't a master of flying at first, though. Bluebell had to teach her since she kind of failed with it a couple times. Thanks to gained experience, she has gotten better with it! :)

Bluebell is a happy bird. He sometimes has too much energy, but he is still always willing to be a guide to anyone new who enters the meadows.

Evelara Wicking, the Eterenal Champion - a smart, stubborn, and dedicated member of the Imperial Court. She is a Breton Nightblade. Her parents both died following her unjust arrest-- so her desire to eliminate Jagar Tharn is borne not only out of loyalty to the Empire, but out of pure, unadulterated spite and hate.

Ivyrandil Athaere - a sexual deviant Altmer Healer cast out by his noble family after literally being caught with his pants down. He likes making potions and being a cunt to people (and loves being knocked down a peg.)

Ereld - a 16-year-old Bosmer Barbarian who was adopted by a small Nord village. He spent his whole life trying to make his village proud before opting to travel with Evelara and Ivy.

Daggerfall

Morrowind

Travlse, the Nerevarine - a carefree Dunmer Withchhunter. He can find the silver lining to any situation, and while he seems completely self-serving, there is nothing he wouldn't do for someone if they asked.

Vivyne Faewatch - the future Queen of Morrowind, following the events in Tribunal. She is kind of a hopeless romantic, and is stubborn and patient beyond measure. She has a good heart and knows right from wrong, and she doesn't care who she pisses off about it.

Alavesa Faewatch - a baby that Vivyne found abandoned close to the end of the initial plot of Morrowind. Alavesa spends her first year or so of life travelling with Travlse and Vivyne.

Oblivion

Ko'Yana, the Hero of Kvatch - an ex-slave Khajiiti woman hailing from Morrowind. She was completely fucked over by the new Queen's sudden and poorly-implemented anti-slavery laws, and forced into a life of crime. She was arrested promptly following a hit she took out on a member of the Imperial Court. Usually I design a custom class with a focus on unarmed combat & destruction magic for her.

Everlara Wicking - a close friend of the late Emperor, and wife to his second-born son. She'll wring Mehrunes Dagon's neck herself if she has to, and she'll protect Martin with everything she has.

Skyrim

Etheara Reverie, the Last Dragonborn - an empty-headed manual labourer that travelled to Solstheim in a last-ditch attempt to revive Raven Rock Mine. In doing so, he encountered a Daedric force far, far beyond his mental ability to grasp, and he pays for it.

Vanyarintil Korothaeus, a False Dragonborn - a strong and silent chosen of Hircine. He was travelling to the Imperial City and overshot by a good bit, and ended up stumbling into a raid at the border and was arrested. He has a natural talent for learning Dragon Shouts, so it was thought for a very long time that he was the true Last Dragonborn. Also I may be making him transfem but I'm not sure how that impacts the story, or whether it impacts the story so we'll see.

Melanarto Korothaeus, a False Dragonborn - a passive and quiet priest of Mara. He travels Skyrim preaching her word, always returning to Windhelm to stay with his close friend, Revyn Sadri. They are very close. When he was a child, he happened upon a dying dragon that gave him an amulet. This amulet has the ability to absorb and keep dragon souls, so it was thought for a very long time that he was the True Last Dragonborn.

Kyryi Orah - a Maormer man that was somehow stranded off the coast of Winterhold. Because of the historical tensions between the Maormer and the Altmer, he assigned a keeper: Ancano. Somehow, his circumstances are simultaneously a dream come true and his worst nightmare; all he has ever wanted was to study magic-- but why did it have to cost his family and whole world?

Terarae Isevryn - a commanding officer in the Imperial Legion. She is a Snow Elf, but her family clan (which was large at one time) adored travelling and adventure-- so they were on the other side of the continent during the conflict with the Dwemer. Now, she is the last member of her family, and had returned to Skyrim with the hopes of being embraced by her people. But since the Falmer had become what they did, there was no place for her-- so she threw herself into the easiest work she could find: the military.

Aster Reverie - an innkeeper on Solstheim. He didn't want to let Etheara travel alone at first, so he and his fiancee moved with him and set up an inn near Tel Mithryn. He seldom hears from his twin anymore.

Anira Mirlayn - an innkeeper on Solstheim. She never had many plans for the future, so when her finace suggested moving to Solstheim to be close to his brother, she agreed. She is bright and friendly, able to draw any recluse from their shell.

face: Describe your OC's face. What's their smile like? Are their orbs cerulean? What would someone notice first when looking at them?

man I'm so bad at describing faces … that's why I take pictures! I had Ryder (when he was still totally fresh out of the CC creator) once describe V in this answered ask, where he talks about his smile though:

"[…] That smile. His laugh! — Vijay literally radiates something that feels like uhm — how do I best describe it?" Fiddles out a cigarette he places between his lips and lights it up. "Like when it's been cold and rainy for months and then the sun comes out shining onto your face and skin and warms you up. I bet his sunbeams would even brighten the darkest parts of the Schwarzwald." Takes a puff. "He's like pure vitamin D3, if you want it that way. Once you felt or even had it, you'll never want to miss it. I know whereof I speak. […]"

Reading this I should ask Arki about it — he could tell something really beautiful about Vijay's face for sure! Noted.

arms: Does your OC have any weapons? What weapons do they carry, and how do they wear them when they're not fighting?

Vijay only uses revolvers and pistols, both power. 'Amnesty', Malorian Overture (Power Revolver) with unique modifier that increases fire rate by 60%, decreases reload time by 20%, bullet spread by 65%, aim-down-sight time by 50%, recoil by 50%, effective range by 25%. For the revolver he mostly carries it around without any holster. It is stashed most of the time in the hatch of the front passenger seat in his car. When he takes it out he mostly holds it in his hands or he places it behind his back tucked in the rim of his pants. For the pistols he goes with: 'Dying Night', Militech M-10AF Lexington* (Power Pistol) unique modifier that multiplies headshot damage by 50% and reduces the reload timess by 10%, bullets can ricochet off surfaces. plus a second one as standard version because he's mostly wearing that gun holster for two pistols when on a job that might end in shooting. On Jobshe prefers the two pistols over the revolver. Revolver is more for hunting down urban legends or a tricky situation when he's in his car.

makeup: Does your OC wear makeup? How often? What kind? Why do they wear makeup, and do they like it?

Vijay rarely wears makeup. He's eating very healthy so his skin is also very pure and needs no coverage at all. He only adds a light gray eye shadow that is barely visible at all (at least I have selected that in the CC for him) and that's basically it. He used to add some black eyeshadow under his eyes back in his teens and young adult phase when he was in Portland with the gang, but after that, he stopped and went back to a natural look.

alternate: What would your OC's alternate universe look be? If they're a fantasy character, what's their modern look? If they're sci-fi, what's their fantasy look? What AU would you want to see your OC in, and how would they dress themself? Bonus: Prompt an AU!

Oh boy, I never thought about that. Vijay is currently only imaginable for me in Cyberpunk. I cannot imagine him in a fantasy AU neither a scifi AU. The only AU that would come to my mind is him in the real live 1980s but lets be honest, Cyberpunk has an 80s touch because the genre boomed in the 80s and I am always trying to give him an 80s look as well since it is his interest, so even a irl 80s AU doesn't work out bc I included it into the my version of the game already. :,D

Oh shit, hello ask meme maker! Thank you for letting me use your lovely question set lol. This is so many questions, and I am so tired always, so the answers took me forever, but I am very glad to be able to do this.

I'm always complaining that I don't spend enough time on Briya and Faremi, so I'm taking this opportunity to try to answer these questions for both of them!

Some basic info about both of them since this is I believe my first time talking about them:

Briya: 18, she/her, lesbian. Tanned skin, brownish blonde hair, light brown eyes. Notably very tall, and kind of has a Barbie aesthetic going on with her clothes. Studying to eventually be a doctor, but works as a jewelry maker for a local shop in the meantime.

Faremi: 17, vae/vaer (will accept she/her but doesn't like it so much), nonbinary and bisexual. Very dark skin, black hair kept in twists, brown eyes that almost seem black. Kind of a punk or goth aesthetic. Wants to be a textile engineer but often gets relegated to "local fashion designer."

Pencil: does this character have any "sketchy" habits? Have they ever broken the law? Do they regret it?

Something important to understand about Briya is that she's kind of the embodiment of the meme that's like "*cocks gun* I'm a healer, but..." She wants to help people, more than anything. She has no qualms about skirting unfair medical laws to do it. She also has no qualms about using aggression in a "treat others how you want to be treated/eye for an eye" philosophy against people who hurt others or get in her way. This sounds intimidating, but mostly it looks like her getting the neighborhood bullies to pick on people their own size instead of all of her (comparatively tiny) friends lol.

Honestly, Faremi is the type who wouldn't even go over the speed limit when driving or pirate MP3s off of the internet. There is literally nothing actually sketchy about vaer lmao. People feel that vae is quite approachable and doesn't have any suspicious vibes at all.

Paintbrush: How often does your character "brush over" conflict instead of facing it head on? Is there something specific they don't like to face, or do they avoid conflict as a whole?

Briya doesn't actively go looking for conflict, but she always faces it head on if a situation comes up. She isn't afraid to speak her mind about what's going on, even if her thoughts might seem rude or unpleasant to other people.

Faremi can have a tough time acknowledging interpersonal issues; even if there's something bugging vaer in a relationship vae has, vae's more likely to sit on the complaint in silence instead of initiating a conversation (=potential conflict) about it. This is particularly true when it involves vaer romantic partners.

Colored Pencil: if given the choice, would this character splurge on an expensive (but potentially worthwhile) branded product, or buy a low-budget alternative even if the quality suffers?

I think that with both of them being involved in product design, they can appreciate the long-term value of paying for quality. Of course, if the brand-name version is upcharged for no good reason, they'll go for a less expensive alternative that still provides good quality.

Graphite: what's something decently common that your character does in a unique or different way? (like how graphite is present in all pencils, but not everyone uses pure graphite)

Faremi and Briya both have a single section/streak of their hair dyed, and they've each been redyeing with the same color for years now. Faremi's is a deep shade of red, while Briya's is pastel pink. It's not that uncommon for people around them to have hair in vibrant colors, but usually someone will do the whole head of hair instead of just keeping the one little section.

Pastels: Give me three colors that best represent your OC. Now give me three colors that your OC likes best. Is there an overlap?

Hmm, let's see. Going with basic shades here so I don't overthink it with the color theory or anything lol.

I'd say 3 colors that represent Briya are pink, white, and grey, while 3 she likes are pink, red, and orange. So clearly, pink is kind of a defining color for her, but she has more of an eye for color than you might suppose from looking at her.

3 colors that represent Faremi are red, black, and yellow, while 3 vae likes are red, pink, and purple. Again, kind of a defining color in the red there. For vaer, though, liking pink and purple has more to do with who or what the colors are associated with than the colors themselves.

Palette: list four of your character's primary skills, then share at least two ways these skills might blend or overlap

Briya has very steady hands and a delicate touch, which are handy for both making jewelry and completing her medical studies. She is not only radically honest but also very effective at making other people say what they mean. She ends up being pretty good at most sports, too (maybe related to some combination of coordination, confidence, and general height/stature), though she doesn't actively seek these activities. is that 4 different skills idk

Faremi has a strong memory, especially for pattern recognition; this is part of what makes vaer an effective textile engineer and clothes designer. Vae is also compassionate and a great listener, which helps vaer deal with potential clients as well as make new friends. Lastly, vae likes to sing as a hobby, so that kind of draws on/feeds into the memory component.

What made you ship it?

I actually have no idea. I probably read something? Have any of our friends written it? Maybe it was that?

When I'm new to a fandom I'm game for pretty much any ship before I start getting salty, so I might just have seen art and been like "awh, that's sweet" and then I wrote fic for it and I was lost.

What are your favorite things about the ship?

Pining

I want these two making pathetic eyes at each other for fucking ever before anything happens.

I think Fox is all sharp edges and as a rule the people he's closest to are all sharp edges too. I think he struggles with vulnerability and Thorn is just patient and doesn't have a sharp edge in his body. I think being treated kindly by someone who won't rise to any of the bullshit Fox tries to start is good for getting him to stop posturing.

And I think Fox is good for Thorn as well, though it takes a little longer for that to become apparent. I think Thorn can be a people pleaser, I think he puts people before himself sometimes to his detriment and I think Fox being the stubborn bastard that he is helps Thorn be comfortable taking up more space and putting up firm boundaries on what he'll allow.

On an angsty note, Thorn dying is delicious angst, as is Fox falling deeper and deeper into Palps bullshit. I'm a sucker for stories about people watching their loved ones go down bad paths and when unable to stop them drawing a line in the sand. If Thorn walking away is enough to get Fox to actually examine what he's doing, who knows.

Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship?

I've said this before, but I don't like the uwu'ing of the CG. I'm only interested in Fox when he is very aware of the fucked up things he's doing for the chancellor and is justifying them. And I think that conflict is key to what I like about Thorn/Fox.

What made you ship it?

So these are OCs obviously, so I didn't really start shipping it as a made them to be shipped.

What are your favorite things about the ship?

I like that there's some opposites attract stuff. Lepi is cheerful and bouncy and Rion is sullen and very introverted. They're both neurodivergent, sometimes in ways that don't mesh well eg. when Lepi is stressed he gets antsy, he talks and moves around and talks more, while Rion gets overstimulated when he's stressed.

I like that they had to work at it. They want this to work and so they talk about it and they get better at communicating their needs and how to slot together.

They're also just very sweet.

Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship?

Uh... I think the only unpopular opinion I could have is that due to O66 this will inevitably end in tragedy, which considering how you specifically feel about that will be popular or unpopular 😂

I don't like how fandom characterises either of these characters, particularly Obi Wan. I shipped it when I first entered the fandom and have gone more and more off it the more time I spent in fandom. 2. What part of your OCs creation and writing, are you most proud of?

In general, I'm proud of the narrative arcs that I put my characters through, and how they grow and change over time. Dynamic characters who change in response to what they go through always strikes me as one of the most important parts of writing (if a character isn't influenced by what they go through, then why is what they go through worth writing about to begin with? there's a reason we don't write full stories about characters going to the grocery store, unless something interesting happens) so I've worked very hard to implement this into my works.

3. Who is the hardest OC to write

At the moment, I'd say Quinn. She herself is a very complex character, which is tricky enough, but she's also dealing with a "requited love but time has passed so they're still figuring things out" sort of thing with her love interest, so it's hard to rein myself in from them immediately falling in love lol

7. Were any of your OCs names inspired by another piece of media, if so, what media?

I have a character named Ophelia after Hamlet, and another who in-universe named herself Quinn after Harley Quinn (see above). Aside from that, I mainly connect to a lot of historical and mythological figures, more than I do other media characters.

8. Which of your ocs is the most fun to write?

I mean... they're all fun, in their own ways. I do my best to try something new with each of them, so there's always something I look forward to when I write. But that being said, I really like writing for Jasper, they're such a fun character and their empathic abilities are really fun to explore.

15. Who is your oldest OC in terms of when you created them?

So... I've got to dip into something that I haven't actually posted, but it's an OC named Persephone (Percy) Michaels that I wrote to go along with MCU Loki. I actually wrote the first couple chapters of a fic for her, but never posted it (and it needs a rewrite anyway). She's gone through a lot of changes since her creation (2018?), but she's still the same OC at heart. I'm sure I'll post her story eventually.

16. Do you have a favourite OC?

Kinda goes back to what I said about which one's the most fun to write, I love them all in their own ways. At the moment I'm pretty partial to Madison, Indigo, or Jasper, though. It's a very tight race, I truly do love them all. I'm also DYING to share my OC Lydia with you all, but I need to close out a fic or two before I can start something new. The joys of writing longfic...

Even looking through my Google Doc that outlines all my OCs (even the ones that still only exist in my mind), it's hard to pick a favorite. I want to tell their stories so badly! I'm literally looking through this going "Ooh, I do love Sable... and Iris... and Cleo... and I'm dying to share Atlanta's story but nobody's gonna read that bc of the pairing... I could probably write Winter's story a little faster than the rest but it would still take me a while... Citron's too..."

I... have a lot of OCs. And whole stories for every single one. Remember what I said about my obsession with a good narrative arc? Yeah...

Fern, Outsiders s30 rp ramble

Usually I do these little drabbles in a server I joined a little over two years ago now, while it's not active as much anymore I always hold it close because holy shit so many awesome things came from it. One being one of my favourite oc's Fern. This ramble is about my favourite character arc for her because I could talk about it forever!!

TW: Mentions of violence, blood, near death. Quite a bit I go over so just bare that in mind!

Fern's revenge arc genuinely was my favourite arc for her, I've always loved every story beat she's gotten and each opportunity to toy around with her character was fun as hell but if I were to be asked what my favourite element would be (while the short 'runner' era comes close) I could answer easily by telling you that Fern's revenge arc was my favourite. There's a few specific reasons for this:

I think it captures a good chunk of how the maze corrupts people. How the place known for death and near death isn't good for the mental state of people who sign up, it's guaranteed to push you to your limits if you do want to survive. You will walk out of that maze a different person if you're pushed to your limit, which in this case Fern was. She tried to play it the nice route and she did make friends but that kindness didn't keep her safe from other people's revenge. Because it's a massive cycle, never ending. There's always going to be a ripple effect behind these actions. You can be the kindest to people but if someone else wants you dead, after so many of those experiences you'll lose part of yourself.

It was the accumulation of months of character building, planning and plotting. As mentioned Fern was a character, who initially was overlooked. I won't pretend like that was deliberate, I wrote a simple character because I didn't want to play my only other Outsiders oc at the time... And I'm glad I didn't. Because you see her go from that unaffected, happy but simple girl. To someone who is losing a LOT. Someone who is hit head on with these responsibilities and these dangers. She isn't the youngest by any means but she is also not that old of an adult either. Fern grapples with guilt, injury, near death and loss over and over and usually she comes out of the other side of that. A little chip of her taken away in the process but still enough to make her who she is there and then. I mentioned it during one ramble but it's those little chips that slowly build and break her. Having Saki slip from her grasp into what she assumed would be her death, Amaryllis dying, Celestia faking her death, Rui being taken from the maze (something she knows is for the best but she can still miss them), her sister dying, her losing a leg. It builds and it builds and she holds onto that positivity because it's who she is and she's scared to let the maze change her as it has others. And so when all of this reaches a breaking point, it literally takes one last thing for her to snap. And that is her getting her throat slit for an action she played no direct part in. She doesn't agree with the jokes, nor does she hate Jaiden for making them. It was a stupid mistake. However, that look in Sundew's eyes reminds her how people care for her sure, but this place never would. Being nice isn't going to get her out of the maze, but being a survivor, staying strong and accepting she has to FIGHT will. If she dies then that's the end of it right, she wouldn't want that but she accepts it because she doesn't expect to come out of the other side alive. Her throat was slit. And then she wakes up. It's just yet another thing the maze is ready to let her live through, another story beat. Sundew held the knife and so she fully is ready to blame him. Which is reasonable and he has it coming. And I love it because he didn't kill her, but he did at the same time. Fern holds a dagger to his throat. She spent weeks planning through it, training and rationalising it. She is cold and angry and full of pure hate. Her nights are filled with nightmares of his face, of the taste of blood she can't wash out with any water she drinks. And he robbed her of the one way she would usually actually cope. He takes her voice. He robs her of any chance to talk it through. And while words are better than violence, when one of the two choices are taken from you, you make do. Fern in that moment can't talk through all of it, she doesn't get to voice her agony and how much she feels like she's being crushed from the inside out. But what she can do is make him feel the same pain he put her through, she writes as much herself. She wants him to feel what it is like to choke on his own blood, to breathe it in. To shake death's hand and then have it let go again, to live through it despite being so close. Is it her way of robbing him of getting the peace of seeing his own loved ones again, but facing the pain he put her through. Of making him see the same image she had to be faced with. Maybe he won't feel that same fear but pain is the universal language she choses. The only person she asks help from is the one she knows will understand. Davies, who has almost killed Celestia and at that point did blatantly rip someone's head off. He knows revenge, he knows her. She doesn't drag anyone besides Finn into it. Because even if she's stooping to the lowest of lows, that is a bar she doesn't want to step over. A friend's blood on her hands is too much to bare. (Cut to her having to try and break Jaiden out from the ice anyway, back to the cycle of loss and pain but facing the fact that the maze won't let you go until it wants to.)

And all of this has been happening slowly. Steadily bubbling up, building over. It's been a development which always happens. She never hurt anyone but think about how after nearly drowning in the ice lake, O!Graecie returned with much more gusto when it came to looking out for people, full on shouting at O!Krow. The you sicken me line. When we first met her that wasn't the case. The maze makes you stronger, turns you into a survivor but at the cost of parts of yourself. And while I never voiced it to anyone I KNEW going into this that Fern was not going to get the closure she desired from trying to kill Sundew. From getting the blood on her hands. Because he won. He broke her to a point she considered murder, a line had been crossed but it wouldn't fix it. It didn't fill the painful hole sitting in her chest. Now she feels sick to her stomach, she has let it change her. To a point where she knows now that she's holding back, because she is capable of it. It's not what she wanted though, Sundew doesn't suddenly feel remorse. She still looks in her reflection and sees those scars, except now she carries the weight that she also did that. They're one and the same in that sense, letting their anger and desire for revenge tunnel vision them until they do something horrible. Only difference being that Fern can't forget that this hasn't helped. And he tries to kill her again not long after too. And she has a scar above her heart, poetic as hell. Because her voice and her kind heart, two things which she used her her way to make it through as herself were both nearly cut through. Obviously her leg too but that was a creature, not a person. And all of this is what she has to live with. Because revenge corrupts, and it might seem like an answer in that moment but it doesn't help her. Her understanding that is one of the main things which helps her to grow, survive and get stronger.

In conclusion: Fern's arc was my favourite because it allowed me to give her so much more depth, it allowed me to toy around with where she would go if that line were to be crossed. Could it be something she comes back from? Not fully, but maybe that's okay? Because while it's a horrendous 'cost' Fern knows now she has to keep fighting, surviving on as she promised. And unlike before where there wasn't that certainty, the fear of being too weak she knows what she's given to make it. The arc is her as a whole and it sums up who she IS. And I love it.

I'm someone who isn't interested in content surrounding OCs. People are free to create them and to whatever with them and good for them but I'm just not interested in them. I once very politely asked some vocal anti to give tags when they share something and they just got pissed at me. Saying that every character be it canon or not is someones OC and I should respect them. This person also constantly screeches about boundaries and all that stuff but apparently it only goes one way. It's okay to ignore someones boundaries if one doesn't think something worthy of tagging.

I dunno. Once again shows hypocrisy at its finest at the side of the antis.

Disgusting content and all that aside: still thinking that I rather hang out with shippers than those snowflake antis who weep when someone is a bit harsher than usual but decide to ignore boundaries if they think they are "pointless"

so far I feel like OC content has always been tagged on your end (if it does show up) so I'm very thankful for that. Also I know you won't give me shit for my opinion. I'm just not interested in some special OC Karen/Kevin who is all the genders and none and wants to fuck the twins or any of that nonsense... as well as all the projection into the depot agents... a-nnoy-ing. But other people are free to like them. I am just not interested.

sorry for the little vent this has been boiling inside of me for a while and I needed to get it out of the system... honestly I'm thankful for your blog and content and even if you're often harsh with your words I think you're a cool and fun person to have around. Aside the rants I also enjoy your in depth character analysis or when you write your opinions on something. It makes me curious and interested even if I'm out of the loop with the franchise! Do you mean like self-inserts? -Or OCs in general created to be shipped with a popular character? I usually don't pay attention unless I really like them. I can only think of a few off the top of my head. IE: ceciloque and the artist who did something cute with Volo. Neither did ships. One was a protag friends with the Subway Twins, the other hated Volo in a facetious way. I also liked the Generic Protag guy but lost interest in him when he made Gene leave Hisui (also the artist soft blocked me, so I don't show up in the tags).

I could see someone getting annoyed with OCs if they do that thing where they make a Mary Sue OC with a harem of OC partners and who goes around making every single canon character fall for them. The two things that aggravate my OCD are off models and implausible cross overs. Extra points if they cover both. You might have read some of my rants in the past, like the most aggravating one of all is when someone makes the Subway Bosses not twins anymore. IE: What if one was a guy and the other was a unicorn? -Or a dog. -Or a fugly mermaid? -Or a llama that vaguely resembles Arceus? (Had to dig up the original post that started a certain tag).

None of that stuff really bothers me on the general tags because I get why people do it. People want to come up with reasons to keep their interest going, and when content runs out with canon, then AUs keep the character alive for them. It's funny with me personally, I can keep myself occupied posting literally the same thing for years, but of course it's not going to be enough because interests change.

Thought of that today when I queued up yet another fan art of Dabi and Shoto sitting side-by-side eating soba together, and that's the equivalent of a Submas reunion hug in my mind, although with Dabi it might have a darker meaning. He might be lying in his tank barely alive having that thought of eating soba with his brother circulating through his mind in a continuous loop. He's done being mad and wants to think of something happier than dying.

I'm about to be guilty of creating a Geten x OC for my latest fan fiction to keep it going, just because I got stuck on the ending. I needed a female character with a specific ability, and the only person who had said ability was one of the advisors for Team Brown: Support Regiment which will create more content to give Geten and Mr. Compress something to talk about when they are eventually incarcerated in adjacent rooms. I decided to make my OC a sibling to to that unnamed advisor. It's me creating an OC but staying within canon. If I were motivated and adverturous enough to keep the thing going past manga canon ending, I'd still keep it in the MHA universe.

I wouldn't be like, "Let's do My Hero Academia Star Wars! -And make Geten a mermaid pirate and Dabi a succubus werewolf with a double-sided light saber!" That would be the exact sort of shit that would drive me up the wall.
