For nearly 4 years, I have been trying to end a sanctioned disc golf tournament at the top of the leaderboard. It's a journey that took more a year at the start to even be competitive. There were multiple heartaches of playoff losses, missed opportunities, and an inability to seal the deal.

That all changed today, and today is the day that it finally arrived. And in dramatic fashion too.

The most satisfying part was coming back to win, being down 1 with 5 to play, then making two huge birdies to take the lead. Just as satisfying was hitting and making putts that I usually don't and would kill momentum. Everything was clicking today, and without a doubt, my best performance ever.

Now that I've had a taste of victory, I'm gonna get more of it in 2025.

Sometimes I remember that Ludinus' entire plan hinged on the love between two people who were ripped apart by fate for more than 30 years. Somehow he knew that, when it came down to it, not even Vax's transformation into a servant of the gods would prevent him from loving Keyleth of the Air Ashari. No amount of removal of his personhood, or distance from the person he used to be could snuff that out and prevent him from breaking the non-interference accords to be there when she was in danger. Their love was always going to be doomed by the narrative, and in the end it doomed the narrative too. Everyone talks about Delilah and her willingness to rip the world apart for love, but for Vax it wasn't even really will anymore, just the inevitability of all that was left of him other than the Champion.

olympics coming up…… athlete aus on the mind….. satoru as a swimmer….. unreasonably large wingspan…. huge hands..... thinks “official” competitions and tournaments are boring because he can’t use the goofy purple googly eyes goggles he likes to practice in…… practices at ungodly hours solely because he likes when the pool is empty because that means you’ll dip your feet in at the edge and be there to greet him with a kiss when he’s finished his laps….. they bring up the stats board and it’s just his name ten times before the next fastest person and he could still lap them, and even tho he’ll always put so much pressure on himself to be the best, it’s worth it to have you hold his face and tell him you’re proud of him... he’s gotten so much merch from events and sponsorships and he used to think they just created clutter but that all changes when you start to wear his clothes (esp the ones with his name on it… he’s not proud to admit that does Something to him)…. always looks up to the stands when he finishes a race and if he knows you’re not there, he looks right at the camera, draws an infinity sign with his fingers, and blows a kiss (which, some commentators routinely call “unsportsmanlike conduct” but he doesn’t care, and always, publicly says he’ll pay the fees if it means blowing a kiss to his girl at home)

My favorite Cyclops characterization is when he's just an absolute dork of a man. Like, yeah, he's a brilliant strategist and competent leader but he's also eaten nothing but soup for the past five days, organizes his underwear by color, and acts either like a 40 year old man or a teenager with no in-between. Scott is an OCD/autistic man with everything together but his life and his brain is filled with nothing but battle strategy and Seinfeld reruns. Scott Summers is the world's smartest dumbass.

The Ithaca Saga is banger after banger, but what makes me sob every time I listen to it is Athena's part in "I Can't Help But Wonder." Like DAMN is her arc amazing, especially in parallel to Odysseus'. And the gentle sadness of his response makes my heart ache.

okay so piggybacking off my last post talking about the dehumanization aspect of becoming the champion. i have finally processed the evbo is god thing now and have thoughts. because evbo was so excited to be at the top, to have taken down the evil champion that he didn't even realize what he had lost. and now evbo has lost so much. he had lost the old man, then he lost his master friend who was teetering on the edge of death, and though he hated seawatt something must have rewired in his brain when he watched the parkour villain kill him, then it was all the noobs and all the pros, and then the house seller who he said was his friend. so when evbo finally encountered the parkour villain that final time, he had lost so much of what was keeping him human -- the people he hated, the people he loved, and the people who kept him going in his hardest moments. so he was unafraid to jump into the void, because he had lost all that and then, well, he was going to lose that race. he had lost himself. it was no wonder he became the parkour god. everything keeping him barely human that he had been clinging onto, whether he knew it or not, had been lost. evbo is still evbo, but he lost that innocence, that simplicity of being utterly, horribly human. evbo lost and so evbo became.
