Once Starscream's human gets close enough, he'll trust them to clean his wings and it feels *good*. He might try to hide it, but his wings are fluttering and he wants to melt into cooing putty in their touch, realizing that maybe it's ok to have moments of vulnerability around people who care for him

it's a big leap of faith for starscream, one he's unsure he wants to take. ever since the war started, he's been afraid of trusting anyone other than himself. considering what happened when he trusted megatron, his fears aren't exactly irrational.

but you're able to win him over. you, in all your funny little human charm, show him the kindness he's been missing. he can feel it in your laugh whenever he says something amusing, your seemingly unending stream of questions about how he works, your touch whenever you clean his chassis.

the fear in your eyes when he returned to his berth, damaged and limping.

humans are so expressive. he can read you like a book, and there's no mistaking what that look means.

as he finally, finally allows you to get close enough to his gunked up wings to clean them, he starts to wonder why he denied himself this pleasure for so long. your nimble human hands reach places his long claws can't. with every layer of grime washed away, starscream feels old aches he'd long thought to be a result of his age beginning to fade. the pain he knew so well washed away in rivulets of water down his back.

it feels like nothing he's experienced in a long, long time. it feels like cybertron, where he could treat himself to spa days more frequently. it feels like home.

his wings flutter gently as you scrape away the muck in their hinges. his optics fade shut, and a smile starts to spread over his face. not a scheming smirk, nor the awkward half grin when he realizes he's done something stupid in front of megatron. it's something tired, long abandoned, but real.

"i'd recommend that knock out come to you, rather than breakdown, whenever he needs his finish buffed," he jokes, "but that would mean not having you here with me as often. and you know i don't like to share."

and there it is. your little human laughter, something he might have once found annoying, but now looks forward to hearing when he returns to his berth.

letting himself smile a bit more, starscream tilts his head forward to allow you better access to his wing hinges. he doesn't know when he'll get to savor this luxury again, so for now, he's determined to make the most of it.

Old habits never die

In my delulu Alastor always loved the sound of Vox' voice while the content was just secondary entertainment. Really just taking in the airwaves and tunes of his voice while he gets excited and goes on forever about what he wants to achieve in the future /what he has archived over the last 7 years. They also never had a proposal or fight and just stayed friends with regularly meet ups to chat abt this and that like the old men they are.
