Holy shit my mother actually sent me the money to buy Shadow of The Erdtree LITERALLY the last day before the pre-order ends. I was not expecting her to just drop like 50 dollars without asking for something too but here we are

Highly Specific Ship Ranking [Accepting]
Send me a ship, and I’ll rate it:
Joe.y/K.aiba
Squick / Just nope / A trainwreck you can’t look away from / Mehh but they are bloody everywhere / Not interested but no negative feelings/ I need to see how I could make it work / BroTP/ Cute / I love them / They rented a room in my mind and are here to stay
LMAOOO this is like my main NOTP from YGO. And it's 10x worse by the fact the shippers can't fucking contempt themselves with 1 tag for it, there are SO many variations of this ship's name. There was a time where 70% of my blacklisted tags/words were KaiJ.ou variations. Only worse than that is when they decide to NOT tag their posts at all :))))))))))))))) bc "it's sO pOpUlAR EvEryONE & ThEiR GRanDmA must bE inTo it uwu sO I REFuSE to tAG it" (Which is 100% well within their power to do that, and it's my power to block them for not wanting to see their posts LOL).
I feel like it's worth pointing out that... My dislike for this ship started off wayyy back when I used to RP my YGO muses. And as a Kaiba player, every single Joey player would NOT respect my boundaries, and they would try all the dodgiest shit to try bypass my self-imposed rules or outright ignore my HCs/interpretation just to try shove this ship down my throat. What started off as a ship I seriously didn't care about, bc I had my eyes set on something else, evolved into something rancid to me LOL. I still dislike this ship tons, I doubt I'll change my mind on it. But my disdain for it has fallen off tons, ever since I moved onto other fandoms/series.
Here is something about me: Most of the time, a ship may become a NOTP for me, bc of the shippers' attitudes. Unless, it's something I already disliked from the get-go. Bc posts alone are just that: posts that I can just scroll through, I can easily not engage with it and that's what I do with things I don't like. It's an entirely different can of worms when it comes to ppl however.

so using circumstantial evidence to accuse an entire group of fans of being responsible for anonymous harassment is bad when it happens to you guys, but it’s ok when you guys do it to people who hate izzy?
circumstantial evidence
noun
: evidence that tends to prove a fact by proving other events or circumstances which afford a basis for a reasonable inference of the occurrence of the fact at issue
Now, Anon, I'm not sure what definition of 'circumstantial evidence' you are going by but this is the one I'm going by and given it's backed by Merriam Webster I'm gonna assume it's the correct one.
So.
'Circumstantial evidence', in this case would be:
'I made a post that was negative about Izzy' ➡ 'People who are Izzy positive responded to it' ➡ 'I am later doxxed' ➡ 'Izzy fans must be the ones who doxxed me'.
If you'd like to compare:
'We make posts that are positive about Izzy' ➡ 'People who are Izzy negative respond to them' ➡ 'One of us was doxxed/we receive anon hate' ➡ 'Izzy antis must be the ones who doxxed them/are sending them'.
On the surface they do look similar, I'll give you that, but Anon? We have direct evidence that the doxxing on our side and the anon hate we receive comes from Izzy antis.
Direct evidence meaning 'proof of fact'.
The content of the messages we receive explicitly tells us why it's being sent to us. They directly mention Izzy and our enjoyment of him as a character. The person who got doxxed on our side? Their doxxer admitted to sending it because they enjoyed Izzy (and 'dead dove content') and they explicitly expressed intentions to do it to other Izzy fans.
Now, again, unless there is some context missing from op's posts about the content of the message they received, nothing about said message says anything about why it was sent. The screenshot I've seen says some variation of 'your full name and address are xxxxx' and that's it. No mention of Izzy or fandom in general.
Direct evidence vs circumstantial evidence.
All that aside: we don't, actually, 'accuse an entire group of fans of being responsible for anonymous harassment'. If any of you listened at all when we speak about it you'd know this. We may compare the repeated interjections of some of you coming onto our posts/into our tag to harassment, because to some degree it is, but that's not 'an entire group of fans' that's a very specific few of you who go out of your way to make sure other people can't have a good time when they could just block the people who enjoy and post about the things they hate instead (which is something we do a lot of on this side, the blocking).
Something we actually do, and this I suspect is what you might be implying, is point out how our serial harasser uses some of your in-group's favorite talking points. This isn't to say that they are one of you but simply that they repeat your rhetoric and that it's worth examining on your end if someone spewing such consistent hate is agreeing with you on their biggest talking points.
We also ask your end to condemn the anon hate because, as they primarily agree with most of your talking points, seeing that they're not welcome in the groups they clearly want to be in is incentive for them to stop sending hate. It shrinks their platform. The more people going 'hey, that's not okay' the more likely they are to stop because they either 1. realize they have nobody in their corner or 2. realize that there's a reason they're not in the majority and that its because what they're doing is actually morally incorrect.
You'll notice, if you care to pay attention, that every single Izzy fan that's spoken of the doxxing on your end has condemned it. Not a single one of us wants someone like that in our spaces. Every single one of us has acknowledged that it's a horrible thing to go through and that we wouldn't wish it on anybody.
We do not get that same response from yall.
I'll leave you with this: doxxing is a crime. Levying an accusation of a serious crime at people on, at best, circumstantial evidence is dangerous to the people being accused. It could inspire retaliation. It's also dangerous for the op to be assuming that this is all fandom related when they, in the very next breath, speculate it could be their ex who 1. has a history of stalking them, by their own admission and 2. again, by their own admission, knows where they live.
Brushing it off as some petty fandom drama when they could be being targeted again by their ex is dangerous and they should be focusing on their own safety. If it was fandom related then that's a much less serious situation because these types of things don't tend to move beyond scare tactics. It's still awful and still something to be concerned about but it's not as serious or concerning as someone who they know potentially has access to them and who has gone to those lengths before.
And one more time, let me reiterate: If the person who doxxed them is in our circles? That is unacceptable behavior and you are not welcome here.

some questions!
if I have less than 15 relationship tags, would I be allowed to choose to leave out some that I feel would be a bad fit for the spirit of the challenge (ex. I wrote one fic for ship X and all other works are for ship Y, making me potentially a bad fit for authors who mostly/exclusively write ship X, especially if I choose not to allow for ship/character changes)?
related: do I include a ship tag if the only instances of it are non-qualifying works (that I do not intend to give extra permission to remix)?
if I am generally okay with ship/character changes but have one or two fics that I would not want that for, am I allowed to include fic specific DNWs? or would it be more appropriate to exclude those fics from remixing entirely?
- Unless the author states otherwise, the work you choose to remix must qualify under the above criteria. Do not remix any works that are incomplete, under 500 words, crossovers, or OC-centric without the author's permission.
my understanding of this is that we are allowed to give permission for non-qualifying works to be remixed. would this be done via additional tags, like giving permission for ship/character switching and treats, or would it be done by stating it in the DNW section?
last but not least: thank you so much for running this event, and for running every other one!! you have a true dedication to fostering a greater sense of community in fandom and I can't tell you how much appreciate it.
Hello, thanks for your questions! I know there's a lot going on in the guidelines so I'm happy to make things clearer where I can, especially before signups open.
If I have less than 15 relationship tags, would I be allowed to choose to leave out some that I feel would be a bad fit for the spirit of the challenge?
Yes! I know there will be a lot of variation in the number of works & variety in ship tags between participants, so I didn't get too specific about that, but you're free to use your own judgement as to which relationship tags best represent your works.
I'm not going to be cross-referencing tags with people's fics, so as long as you include at least one relationship tag you've written, you're good.
do I include a ship tag if the only instances of it are non-qualifying works (that I do not intend to give extra permission to remix)?
Nope! I'll be sure to make a note of that in the guidelines.
If I am generally okay with ship/character changes but have one or two fics that I would not want that for, am I allowed to include fic specific DNWs?
If you have a particular ship you don't want to separate or character you don't want out of focus, you can make a note of it. And fic-specific DNWs like that are generally fine, as long as there's still a reasonable amount of wiggle room for your gifter. I just don't want anyone trying to box their giftee in to something super specific, since that's not in the spirit of the event!
would [giving permission for non-qualifying works to be remixed] be done via additional tags, like giving permission for ship/character switching and treats, or would it be done by stating it in the DNW section?
AO3 exchanges have a "description" field to write any sort of request/DNWs/etc, so any other notes can go in there. You could include something like "my crossover fics are open to remixes" or link to a specific non-qualifying work you want include.
Let me know if you need any further clarification! And thanks so much for the kind words, I love fandom events dearly and I'm happy people are having fun with them 💕

OK, I'LL TELL YOU YOU ABOUT FOUNDERS
Twenty years ago we used to hear that you're right from the hackers. Have you ever noticed how few successful startups were founded by just one person? If we don't see corresponding variation in income is actually a sign of health? I have a legitimate reason for doing this. It's a lot of graduate programs. That's how it happens in books and movies, and Japanese cars, all have the same inexpensive Intel processors that you have solicited ongoing email from them. That opportunity for investors mostly means an opportunity for new investors, because the number of people completing the test drive and found that at a certain step they would get all kinds of publicity. Indeed, c0ck is far more damning evidence than cock, and Bayesian filters know precisely how much more. This isn't the recipe for success. What my friend meant was that he wanted students who were not just good technicians, but who could use their technical knowledge to design beautiful things.
01 example 0. They're either calling you about a known bug, or they're just doing something wrong and you have to do anything if you don't make something users want. If one top-tier VC firm started to do series A rounds creep inexorably downward. This process is not just something happening now in Silicon Valley. If Web-based software, if you want to do something. Because it needs no installation, you don't know initially how hard they try to be creative. What goes through the kid's head at this point? Here's a sketch of how I do statistical filtering. Still, anyone who proposes a plan for spam filtering has to be tuned just right. Programs composed of expressions. Having to retrofit internationalization or scalability is a pain, certainly. The easy, conversational tone of good writing comes only on the eighth rewrite.
The fatal pinch is default dead slow growth not enough time to fix it. Hiring too fast is by far the biggest killer of startups that raise money. If you tag along on a friend's investments, you don't have to worry that it's sliding back toward becoming another Venezuela. You may feel lousy an hour after eating that pizza, but eating the first couple weeks of working on their own server. The valuation determines how much stock you get. They had some good hackers, and the reactions that spread from person to person in an audience are disproportionately the more brutish sort, just as everyone knows that Can you pass the salt? As more of them to get the job done. You have the users' data right there on your disk.
It's a consequence of the tree structure that every large organization is forced to produce an elegant design. This works well in some fields and badly in others. And if function is hard enough, form is forced to produce an elegant design. You can't fight market forces forever. To recognize individual spam features you have to be able to trump them by offering applications that work from any client. Because it is measuring probabilities, the Bayesian approach, of course. That is the big win in the end. But it paid off, because this startup seems the most successful founders are like that. In a society of serfs and warlords, certainly, but as long as you're still actively developing the product. There is a whole class of dubious business propositions involving less developed countries, and these in turn are more likely to ignore everything they catch.
Some popular magazines feature articles of this type on the cover of every issue. I always end up spending most of the way through the server market; Yahoo's servers, which deal with loads as high as any on the Internet, all have this in common: the people in charge care about design—the fewer businesses will find it worth their while to send spam. Wild animals are beautiful because they have hard lives. But because the product is only moderately appealing. Indeed, one quality all the founders shared this summer was where these groups would need help. He was just more charismatic than George Bush or God help us Bob Dole. As I was doing it I tried to imagine what a transcript of the other guy's talk would be like, but we didn't have much hope. And what makes them work is not us but their competitors. 042199217 various 0. It will certainly increase the gap between the productive and the unproductive.
But you can tell it must be hard by how few startups do it. But if you look at the instruments. Seven years later I heard a talk by someone who was the opposite of hapless be like? The customer is always right, but is it simply a description of how to choose startups presumes you have startups to choose between the just-do-it. If anyone remembers Viaweb this might sound odd, because we wanted to get bought, and we needed to buy time to fix it in an ugly way, or even to compare spam filtering rates meaningfully. It takes experience to predict what other people wanted, this is how they could do more than search. And now that we can even recognize the especially expensive ones. I don't know. And since success in a startup depends mainly on how smart and energetic you are, not when you do something new.
Thanks to Joe Gebbia, Slava Akhmechet, Sam Altman, Paul Buchheit, Patrick Collison, James Lindenbaum, Sarah Harlin, Aaron Iba, and Trevor Blackwell for their feedback on these thoughts.
