Here are the major Oni and Yokai antagonists of WaveSong mostly in order of appearance:

Mizushābi:

The catalyst of both the story AND Charlie + Urogi's relationship.

A sea-dwelling Yokai. She has a large ego and is constantly praising herself for having never lost her prey.

Mizushābi is the demon that mistakenly attacked the cargo ship Charlie had stranded herself on as a teen (a mistake only because Mizu did not know the cargo belonged to Muzan). This, of course, led to the girl crashing on the shores of Japan- and set off all events thereafter.

When Mizushābi evolved into her current form, the energy sent a shockwave across the sea- causing an earthquake and tsunami that ravaged several coastline towns, dragging new prey out to sea. In this new form, Mizushābi has gained better control of water and also the ability to use electric attacks by storing it in her body as she rubs against the ground.

Daitachi:

The Fox Yokai that Charlie battles whilst trying to save a rising drug-lord's 10 year old son.

Aside from his sickle claws and speed, he can also force the fur on his tail to become rigid- creating a spear of hair. These tails can also grow longer for greater range. A jealous creature who thinks the world owes him everything.

Yamatabera:

A yokai the size of a mountain. He digs at mountains, eating away at the rock and the forest until he's able to use his internal forge to melt the materials into a thick, oily sludge that he uses to trap humans with. He's quite slow-moving, so immobilizing (and killing) his prey is optimal. He grows in size with every meal. He also covers his body with the sludge at daybreak, where it hardens and protects him from the sun. At sundown, the shiny rock breaks open and he continues his feast. Tail is capable of clearing massive areas by brushing it on the ground. His size alone makes him difficult to fight, and a Hashira was required to defeat him,

Had Tomioka not arrived, Charlie and everyone on scene would've been killed before daybreak.

Kamechinari:

An Oni who uses changes its DNA to impersonate others. Unfortunately, this doesn't hide her demon features. This ability caused quite a ruckus when she was able to use her tongue to swipe a bit of Rengoku's hair, forming the demon version of him. She ALSO impersonates Charlie during their battle- which Charlie thinks is hilarious. Though Kamechinari gains her victims appearance and breath type, she does NOT gain their skill or experience.

Dororyu:

A hyper-aggressive Oni with two massive, twisting horns behind his head. He uses these horns to gore opponents. His blood demon art enables him to use vibrations to melt dirt down into muck (or to force water up from reservoirs to soak the ground) that he uses to burrow where he can leap from the earth in sudden attacks! Otherwise, he also will pull you under.

He uses his sensitive hearing to find prey when buried, so Charlie uses her flute to lure him out.

Charlie and the main trio tag-teamed this oni, as his thick neck was difficult to cut, and he was hard to find! He ends up being far more dangerous than anticipated. When enraged, the liquid he makes to melt dirt begins to heat up and boil, though it quickly cools and hardens as well- leading to massive spires being created as he leaps from the muck! He has an ego as massive as his horns and can be goaded into charging by using insults.

Raigira:

A bulky, belligerent Oni built like a Silverback gorilla. One of the few that Charlie has personal beef with. He eats children and infants exclusively.

Has two long horns that grow from the side of his head. Aside from brute strength, he is also capable of using fire attacks and utilizes magma from the caverns he lives in.

He nearly kills Charlie AND he is capable of fighting Urogi one-on-one (nearly destroying the avian demon!). It takes the combined strength of Charlie (who has limit-breaks during the battle), along with Sekido and Urogi to kill this oni.

Kazerashi: NOT an Oni or yokai, but another primary antagonist in the WaveSong, Kaze is an elemental dragon that Muzan is able to corrupt by forcing an enormous amount of blood into the poor thing. Such a scenario is unheard of, as dragons are seen as deities and untouchable, and are difficult to find to begin with. This infection drives the holy beast insane, and what was once a benevolent wind guardian has become a violent, unending threat to the villages it had protected. Its corruption gives it the power to create storms. It also prevents the dragon from becoming invisible, in which all dragons remain invisible unless seen with a reflective surface (a mirror, glass, reflection on the water) or unless they wish to be seen. Dragons can only be physically killed by destroying the pearl they hold internally in a pouch under their chin- but even this doesn't truly eradicate them. During the start of this battle is the first time Charlie sees Akihiko shed tears.

Making this in an attempt to be more organized with my AU and so that people can look at this before asking any questions I might have already answered before. It will include links to posts (explanations, references, important art), FAQ, and other details.

Brief Summary

My AU is basically just my interpretation of the FNAF story, with some changes from canon/what is largely agreed to be canon. (It does not always reflect what I actually think is canon.) I kind of think of it in 2 separate parts, one about the kids before and after they die, and another about Michael (and some other characters) after the murders, finding out what happens and dealing with the haunted animatronics of course. The first part is my main focus majority of the time, and usually follows Cassidy, Charlie, and Evan.

FAQ

Are you planning on making a webcomic? - I gave a longer explanation about what I plant to do with my AU here, but the short answer is that I plan on making short comics about specific events/situations, but not one continuous comic telling the entire story.

How many games does your AU include?/Does your AU include Security Breach? - My AU only goes to UCN, so no it does not include Security Breach, Help Wanted, or Fazbear Frights if you believe those are canon. I will include some characters like Vanessa, Gregory, Cassie, Jake, and Andrew as background characters in my AU just for fun, but they are not really relevant to the story.

When did the kids die? - I'm still making sure I'm happy with the exact dates and death orders, but as of right now: Charlie dies in 1980, Elizabeth and Evan die in 1983, and the MCI is 1985.

What ages were the kids when they died? - I answered that here. Please note this is an updated version where I changed a few ages, and there might be an old inaccurate answer to this question up somewhere.

What are the FNAF 4 nightmares in the AU? - They are Evan and Cassidy's agony ghosts, or extensions of them since the only ones they themselves turn into are Nightmare Fredbear and Nightmare. Cassidy is helping Evan torment Michael because Evan agreed to help her with William. and she also thinks it's funny.

Is Andrew part of Golden Freddy in this AU? - No, I have a second, side AU where he is, but it has nothing to do with my main AU, where Andrew doesn't end up being killed.

Is Sammy in this AU? Yes, he is, and he's still Charlie's brother. I based him off of the spring bonnie kid from FNAF 4. He is also not super important though, because he moves away with his mother in 1983 after Evan dies.

What order do the events of the games happen? FNAF 4, FNAF 2, FNAF 1, Sister Location, FNAF 3, FNAF 6, UCN

Tags

I put everything relating to this au under the "main au" tag. Besides that I try to tag the names of the characters in the post, the game it relates to, and will tag "spirits" or "agony ghosts" for posts about either of those. When I make longer posts where I just explain things in detail I tag those "explanations".

I tag all the questions I respond to as "answered", although a lot of these aren't related specifically to my AU.

Other details I feel like I should mention

My FNAF 1 Nightguard is not Mike, it's actually Cassidy's cousin, Mina because I wanted them to have a bigger connection to the MCI. The events of FNAF 1 and Sister Location happen pretty close together, because Mina is at Freddy's and Michael is at Circus Baby's.

My version of the FNAF 4 Chica Bully (Raina) is Gabriel's older sister and is the nightguard that replaced Jeremy in FNAF 2.

Jeremy Fitzgerald is Susie's older brother. The two of them moved to Hurricane in 1983 (before Evan died).

The Toy animatronics are not possessed by seperate kids, although the MCI victims' agony might take control over them sometimes.

My Mrs. Afton is named Eleanora, or Nora for short.

Elizabeth and Michael were born in the UK so they do have British accents, but Evan was born in the US and doesn't really have one. (Nora is also American and was born in Hurricane.)

Charlie and her agony ghost self are much more connected than anyone else is with theirs, and her agony ghost acts a little more human because of this. They can also generally convey ideas to each other but cannot directly communicate. Usually if Charlie's agony ghost does something that doesn't relate to her goal of stopping William, it's because she's doing it for the real Charlie.

Time does not work the same for the spirits as it does in the real world.

Elizabeth is the only spirit who never has contact with any of the other spirits until she's set free.

The agony ghosts can change how people see other things, as extensions of themselves basically. This is how they make the animatronics eyes turn black, Charlie gives the puppet tears, and Elizbeth changes Baby's eye color. (What happens to William in UCN is different than this, since it's Cassidy's agony trapping him in one of his own memories and then changing it however she likes - so it all happens inside his head.)

Dawntrail Updates!

Figured I may as well toss a post to the void with DT rapidly approaching. Ahem. Hello! First of all...

Wow... thanks a bunch! I'm happy this little project has proven to be so helpful for so many folks out there! I figured once I stopped updating that this blog was gonna fizzle out into obscurity but I'm still getting quite a bit of interaction despite the inactivity (I really do miss Tumblr sometimes...)

Anyway, wanted to put an update out here on things going forward after DT drops and knowing how rambly and Autistic™ I tend to get, I'll just put that in a cut.

So as I've mentioned in passing in the tags of a random ask, I'm sort of considering opening comms for ref sheets again due to really Really Spicy money-related happenings in my personal life. However, there's a few steps along the way before I make this a reality and this isn't even a full guarantee it'll happen as I'll also be opening art commissions in the near future and those will take more time and priority over ref sheets PLUS there's the factors that led me to closing in the first place.

I'm trying to steer away from using Anamnesis going forward for a number of reasons (some borderline petty, I admit) but I've been introduced to some nifty new plugins that are slowly taking the program's place that make posing infinitely easier and also fix the primary issue I had with Ana which was.... not allowing unique NPC faces to show in gpose anymore. (Yes I'm aware that they still worked for carbuncles and the like but that was just enough of a hassle for my posing needs that it made the sheets Not worth making anymore since I was already dealing with other stress on the side at the time as well). I'm still learning how to effectively utilize said plugins and once I've gotten better and mastered them that'll be the end of step 1.

Step 2 is gonna be... well... waiting for DT to drop. As we all know, a massive graphics overhaul is coming, so there's very little point in opening requests for new characters now when the models are about to be more detailed and will very likely be tweaked along the way if player feedback affects NPCs down the line.

Step 3... that I dread... revamping my studio yet again. Mostly just gonna be taking out some of the extra light sources since those tend to get in the way when the model is really tall and also researching more setups. May also see about utilizing chromakey as well. Idk idk. I doubt I'll have the energy to make the sheets super pretty like some folks do, but taking transparent shots will cut out a lot of distracting factors and make the finished sheets look a bit better I think.

Then after that, I'll probably do some practice rounds and re-work sheets for popular characters as well as fixing the old, shitty sheets from when I first started that were Way Too Yellow that I've been meaning to fix for literal years now (so sorry to all my fellow color-picking artists friends out there I'm sorry that's so annoying... TTATT) and from there I'll see if it's something I still want to pursue and open comms for.

I'll shoot for maybeeeee mid-August or so for the next update. Obviously, I still have a job and I'll be enjoying DT with the rest of you guys so it'll be some time before I even think of doing ref sheets again, but I at least wanted to throw out there that this is still something I think about, but a number of factors made me stop to begin with. One factor being...

...pricing! If/when I open again, it'll likely be a proper commission post on ko-fi and I'm thinking of starting at $10 with tipping enabled. In the beginning, I was allowing requests for the barest minimum of a donation and the constant $3 for characters with a ton of details to cover was getting a bit demotivating after a while, so I'm sorry if this puts off past and future clients, but I am doing all of this in my free time, so... ;w;

which AU is this menace from?

OuterRenaissance. It's still being fleshed out (asks would help a lot), and I plan to later on make an outcode expanded version, and even have some basic stuff for that version. But in simple words it's Outertale but in addition of the space themes, i added themes of the Renaissance historical period, as it brought great advances to science; including astronomy!

Backstory???

Its AU died (destroyed by Error), and it almost did too, but i possessed it and fused my soul over time with its own using my creator powers and it is now technically a walking corpse puppeteered by me so I can interact with the UTMV, while also forcing it to change its form into the Doppelganger form; giving it the ability to, well, shapeshift. Also ink snas selfship shenanigans i haven't properly written yet (yooo two walking corpses that love eachother!!!!!1!!!1). that's the fewest words i can put it in

IS THAT A 'THE STARRY NIGHT' REFERENCE???

Yes. Yes it is. and fun fact: the ship between Io and Ink is named exactly that. The Starry Night. how clever of me, i should get a prize

Does it have a personality?

Yup. I just don't know how to describe personalities, but here's an attempt at that.

Io is a passionate artist, but struggles with some degree of perfectionism driven by the pride of its art skills which are, by far, its best ability. It also tends to be (sometimes dangerously) kind-hearted at others. It might act one of two ways in social spaces: kind of awkward, not talking much, OR ABSOLUTE MENACE as in SUPER SILLY. No in-between.

Also, it is a quick learner, and could be considered quite intelligent. Thing is ... It carried over speech from the Renaissance time period and is still adapting to modern words. A bit of an overthinker too, which can lead to communication issues, and tends to plan elaborate strategies to perform the simplest of things...sometimes not even following them.

Pronouns/gender identity?

Io, like me, goes by it/its pronouns and identifies as non-binary! (Subject to change as I occasionally explore my gender identity)

And here's some trivia to finish this off!

Io, due to being puppeteered by me; a Creator, also has the powers of one, but either doesn't use the powers at all or uses them in subtle ways to try and steer things to its/my favour. It may sometimes disguise it as "art magic" shown in these doodles i made a bit ago:

Finally got around to updating these ref sheets.

This is Wyneer, my main DST mod chara! (Pronounced Win-EER.)

He's an actor seeking a purpose in his life. Considering himself talentless, he gains perks and abilities by crafting and wearing masks and acting out the personality the mask portrays. He'll call them "characters" if you ask, but in the Constant, nothing is that simple...

His hobbies include eating all of the sweet foods in the base and creeping people out by standing idly while staring into space.

I'll post more about the masks themselves when I finish their art.

Seeking Talent

A soft-spoken, eccentric man with a flair for the dramatic, Wyneer Elliott-Llewellyn is a Shakespearean actor desperately seeking a purpose in life. As his aimlessness led him to believe his life thus far had been wasted, he began to dream of starting anew as somebody else, fashioning masks to wear in private to bring his ailing mind relief. His desperation to escape his life led him to making a deal with a mysterious voice that called to him from his radio one day, claiming to know what his purpose was... That deal brought him to the Constant and has left him trapped there ever since. The deal also led to the creepy mask he wears being stuck to his face, but he doesn’t really mind.

Perks and Quirks:

Crafts his own masks

Skilled at method acting - Wyneer changes his perks depending on the mask worn

Has an erratic body and mind - Wyneer's stats change depending on the mask worn

Sensitive to fire and water - Wyneer takes extra damage from fire. Being above 80% wetness causes periodic damage. Being near open flames or being in the rain makes Wyneer nervous, causing his sanity to drain.

By default, Wyneer has no beneficial unique attributes or abilities. He instead temporarily gains perks and quirks depending on which of his masks he is currently wearing. Wearing a mask changes his appearance and dialogue.

He enters the Constant with several sheets of papyrus and some rope, and already knows how to craft these items.

Masks:

Wyneer's masks have a lot of effects. These descriptions are simplified for the sake of brevity.

Blank Mask (papyrus + rope) Does nothing and cannot be worn. Used to create masks.

Fright n Flight Mask (blank mask + nightmare fuel + sanity points) Induces insanity and greatly boosts movement speed, at the cost of greatly reducing attack power.

Laborious Mask (blank mask + grass + twigs) Lowers Wyneer’s max hunger stat and causes him to become hungry much faster. The fuller Wyneer’s hunger meter is, the faster he is at work-related tasks.

Brave Face (blank mask + flint + marble) Armour that lowers Wyneer’s max health in exchange for higher base damage. The closer to death Wyneer is, the stronger and more resistant to insanity he becomes.

About Face (blank mask + gold + bone shards) Armour that functions as a one-man band when sanity is above 50%. When below, Wyneer is regarded as a ‘monster’ by neutral mobs. Having followers or taking damage lowers sanity, but landing a killing blow on an enemy raises it.

Azure Mask (blank mask + blue gems + azure feathers) Makes Wyneer near-immune to freezing, but causes him to radiate extreme cold. This causes Wyneer to overheat faster and worsens his pyrophobia. Enemies that attack Wyneer are frozen.

Crimson Mask (blank mask + red gems + crimson feathers) Makes Wyneer near-immune to overheating, but causes him to radiate extreme heat. This causes Wyneer to freeze faster and worsens his aquaphobia. Enemies that attack Wyneer are sometimes set on fire.

Jet Black Mask (blank mask + purple gems + jet feathers) Raises Wyneer’s max sanity. Wyneer does less damage with normal weapons, but his proficiency with shadow weapons increases with his current sanity. Wyneer can spend sanity to put enemies to sleep.

Saffron Mask (blank mask + yellow gems + saffron feathers) Radiates light and boosts movement speed. Wyneer does less damage, but all damage he does is electrified. Enemies that attack Wyneer are shocked with electricity.

Nightmare Face (blank mask + thulecite + thulecite medallion) Combines the effects of thulecite medallion/crown/armour/etc. and gives off light depending on the current nightmare cycle. On the surface, it tracks his sanity instead.

Radiant Face (blank mask + moon rock + moon glass) A protective and durable piece of armour that changes appearance based on the moon's phase. As the moon rock coating disappears, it becomes less protective, but begins to draw on the moon's power to hone its attacking prowess. In the caves, it does not change.

Through his eventual Skilltree, Wyneer gains four new masks that are talked about here.

That's all! There's a lot of nuance to do with how his masks actually function in the game since I balance him quite rigorously, but that's better left to talking about the masks individually hahaha. Hope someone out there enjoys my brainworms.

✨Weekly Progress #29-30✨

Let me start this off by apologizing for my inactivity 🙇‍♂️ I try not to dive too deeply into my mental health on this blog, but those who know me well know how much I struggle with it. I think my brain shut down and retreated after finishing my recent projects. I relied on daily never-ending tasks to get me through each day with a sense of accomplishment so when that ended, I wound up in a void where I couldn't bring my creativity to amount to anything new.

I kicked my butt back into gear the last couple of days after realizing how little I did during week 29 (and week 28 looked inflated, but I did most of the work in 2-3 days leaving most of my week blank).

I don't know where I'll go from here, but I've worked out some new upcoming plans for future projects! And I'll do my best to start replying to messages and comments;; I've left everyone on read for long enough...!!

A Kiss with the Devil

I completed the refsheets for Ley's upcoming yuri game!

It was a lot of fun designing them from scratch and then being able to render them in full body art! I've always shied away from full body pieces because they take a lot of time and energy... the refsheets took over a week from sketch to final piece. But I'm really happy with how they came out!

Camille, the player character, and her love interest, an immortal and possibly immoral eldritch creature, Liz!

A Sky of Falling Birds

I'm working on proposals for funding and marketing of this game as it will be a commercial work when finished. I created a new roadmap for how I'll plan to get more assets done (...and reduce the number of assets, hopefully). The current plan is to have a Demo 2.0 for Yuri Jam to better show off the story since the current demo focused more on the art and animation aspect.

Stuck in a Yandere Visual Novel... HELP!!

Yes...! I've still got a bit of work left for this project!! Mainly some future updates. I do want to get a steam release for SYVNH one day so I'm working towards that!

I will also be putting out some surveys soon for interest in merch based on the characters. The feasibility of it will depend on interest for what type of merch, ofc, but at the very least, I will be working on some new art for folks soon [: As a thank you for playing, and all the love you've shown for the game so far!

I went into more detail than I probably should've in the intro of this post, but even in my "slump," I've been busy practicing art when I'm not getting my butt kicked by some Hollow Knight mini boss for 2 hours.

I've started a doodle blog, that some folks found in less than 24 hours 💦I'm not ready to formally connect the two together, but if it seems like I've been active there, it's just cause I draw a lot every day. It makes the monotony feel better. This blog will still contain all of my devwork, but all my art musings will be in that one.

I'm sure I'll have the courage to link the two together soon.

anyway taking a break from other aus because i've been thinking about my fallout au a lot lately! i'm currently building Eventer in fallout 4 to get pic refs but that'll take me quite some time. for now, an updated version of the au framework!

gavin is not a vault dweller, he is a mr. handy who was put into a synth body (like curie) this explains his british accent and also i think it just fits. i have a wip of a fanfic of them doing the procedure to transfer him into the synth body that maybe one day i'll finish and post here, who knows.

YOU KNOW I GOTTA ADD THE NEWBIES <33 it will be very hard for me to not make joe "guy who gets inexplicably attached to michael and follows him everywhere" in every single au i make but for this i think joe might be a vault dweller (for reference, jeremy and previously gavin before i retconned him were the only vault dwellers) i just think being a vault dweller can give you that kind of new baby but quickly learning the ropes feel that joe has for me still

bk is definitely a shop owner or caravaner that eventually just moved in because she made so many friends. she has such a big and friendly personality i really see her making a lot of social connections and being on good terms with most people who caravan or have stores. i think in eventer she runs a weapons store!

ky i can see as almost like, the unofficial mayor of eventer. she brings everyone together and makes the community closer! she's great at organizing events (heh) remembering important things about what the community needs or wants, ect. she isnt "in charge" as no one really has all the power, but i think her jack and trevor are the ones most respected and who people go to when they need a town wide decision made.

speaking of, i decided i wanted to have trevor and alfredo sort be what valentine is and make them detectives! i want to incorporate more red web vibes in my aus and fallout is a perfect place for that as there are canonically aliens and cryptids in the fallout universe, as well as. you know. murder and such.

as far as who lives together and their roles in the community the updated version would be:

michael and lindsay live together and run a general goods store and as such are involved in trade with other towns and farms nearby. lindsay is a ghoul in this au btw. because i couldn't not make someone a ghoul and i think ghouls are fucking badass so its them, as the most badass person in ah.

gavin lives alone but has several cats. he is the doctor and runs a small clinic out of his home.

jack lives alone and is the radio dj! mostly playing music but also settlement wide announcements when necessary and covering the news ect, like most fallout radio djs do.

trevor and alfredo live together and run a detective agency. when they don't have any cases, trevor builds stuff to help the community and alfredo picks up guard duty rounds as he is one of their most competent with a gun.

matt and jeremy live together! matt works with their livestock (which is just a handful of brahmin and also a radstaag they cant get to leave) while jeremy is more of the "main character" since i made this au because of him, so he goes off an adventures the most. of course he comes back at least every 2 days because of his cats! who if you'll remember, are an eye bot (zipper), a tiny securiton (booker), and 3 real cats.

bk and ky live together - bk runs a weapons story which i am electing right now to call Friendly Fire because thats their team name but also it FITS SO WELL OMG - anyway ky helps with this sometimes when she's not busy planning a cookout, or helping matt set up something for the animals, or giving jack news updates to talk about ect.

EDIT I FORGOT TO ADD JOE: joe lives alone and i think is the head guard like he patrols and keeps the town safe bc its very open. he also delegates patrolling schedules ect. cannot stress enough how he is not a cop tho. he is guarding the town from mole rats and raiders not arresting ppl for crimes.

I have decided to keep Tumblr updated as I re-watch... The Adventures of Puss in Boots! A glorious return to a show that cemented itself as the most controversial love in my history of loved media. Do I even love it? I'm pretty sure I skipped an entire season and a half in the middle because none of the episodes looked interesting! The show's last-second ending is permanently marked in my mind as the worst ending ever written! So we shall see. I'll be tagging these posts with "#rrays taopib thoughts" from here on out, so my followers can block it in advance lol.

As of right now, I've gotten through the first 3 episodes. I'll go over them:

S1E1 - Great start, I think one of the most memorable running gags of the whole show for me was always Raúl from the Thieves Market. There have got to be countless fics I've written that have a Raúl in it SPECIFICALLY reffing him.

Also, nobody recognizing the name Puss in Boots really cements this happening in his 1st/early 2nd life. He's not yet the legend, but he's getting there.

After the Thieves Market, the rest of this episode is why every time I've tried rewatching it in the past, I never made it last episode 1. It's just... not very good. Toby is THE most annoying character ever created. The animation really, really takes some time adjusting (it is. Bad.). The jokes aren't really funny.

There were a few good things, though. Dulcinea roasting Puss to kingdom come, Puss realizing he just fucking Doomed The Town ("...souvenir?"), and the fight scene is okay.

S1E2 - Dude the Sphinx is awesome, I LOVE her. An absolute queen. Also, it made me soft when Puss told Dulcinea about how his mama used to make those crunchy almond candies for him and the other orphans, how he now wants to make them for the kids here. And Dulcinea is like "bro you SUCK at baking wtf are you talkin bout" and yet he literally makes them and they're AMAZING?? I'm emotional everyone.

I also forgot that the fucking jail is in the bar... Another incredible running bit of the show.

The quality of humor also immediately rose in this episode from the first one. Good to see! Puss sucks at riddles and also cannot catch a fucking break <3

S1E3 - This episode would've been a lot better if Toby wasn't the main focus, but if it weren't for that, it'd be the best one so far! Puss is acting his usual, arrogant, "I work alone" self. He also gets Fucking Drunk at one point, so it's great.

"She has lots of rules, like we're not allowed to ask why she's crying!" paraphrasing but HOLY FUCK that made me doubletake. Humor is on the next level, let's hope it stays that way. Same point, Puss putting up missing posters in the same spot and me thinking, "man do the animators just not want to do a wide shot or smth?" but no, wide shot shows that he has to put them in the same section of wall now because Every Other Surface is Covered With Them.

Anyways, that's it for now! Might watch some more tomorrow while I finish my pib:tlw traditional piece :)

Persona 3 Problems: Maiko Birthday Shenanigans!

Interesting things going on with Maiko in the fandom. Won't say what but let's just say......jail to that person (and *saves screenshot* At least FeMC fans have ammo to fire back TT0TT)

BUT besides that......welllllll. That post made me realize something. Atlus is inconsistent about her age!

Maybe that's why I thought Maiko was A LOT closer to Ken's age than I originally thought, but the game (iirc OG/FES/3P) actually says she's a 2nd grader. I DO remember P3P stating that, because that's the version I usually play (SHOCKER! in my defense half of it is because it's usually on the go, and the other half is I like seeing differences between the male/female sides....it's also faster). Anyway, it was also the first thing I checked when I did a playthrough, so I'm fairly certain.

Buuuuut according to the wiki (fandom one, I know I know, issues, I'll see what I can do about updating it, but I have to bring ammo/screenshots u_u), she's a Libra (ok so far so good, also Nanako is a Libra, ironically, also Nanako is in 1st grade iirc), and she's.....9. HuH? Wut?

Apparently P3P will list her as 9 years old. Specifically on the TV missing person announcement..... Which I do vaguely recall them mentioning her on the TV, I don't remember the age they mentioned. ;w; So I'll need to double check that.

Anyway this is a problem, because it doesn't make sense/add up, and contradicts the line about being a 2nd grader (fun fact: if you clicked the link above, Maiko is born the same year as Futaba, but Futaba should be a year ahead of her....tho iirc P5S states Futaba's been held back a year? So now they are ironically in the same grade? TT0TT). 1st graders in Japan are generally 6->7, and 2nd graders are 7->8, 3rd 8->9, 4th 9->10, 5th 10->11 and so on! So Maiko can't be a 2nd grader and 9 unless she was held back....which the OG text doesn't indicate. But if she WAS 9, she'd be either a 3rd or 4th grader (Ken is 5th grade). I'd have to check, but I coulda sworn she was much smaller than Ken (who would only be a grade or 2 above her).

Fun fact she goes missing (assuming the websites are correct) around 10/21. I'd have to look at the timing of the news broadcast, but that would mean she we missing 1) a little while after her birthday (between a few weeks to literally yesterday) , 2) it was on her birthday (;w;), 3) it was the day before her birthday (;w;)

Because of that ONE day, it's hard to tell if it's saying she JUST turned 9, or is actually about to turn 10.

Her birthday, if the 2nd grader thing is correct (along with the Libra thing), she'd be turning 8 in 2009. So 2009-8=2001! So her birthday should be c. September 23-October 22, 2001 (she'd be 14->15 in P5 but 15 in P5S. Futaba for ref turned 15 before P5 started and turned 16 near the end of P5, and is 16 in P5S)

If the 3rd grade theory is correct, the the birthday would be: c. September 23-October 22, 2000 (this would put her in the same year as Futaba, assuming Futaba didn't drop out originally)

If the 4th grade theory is correct (assuming she hadn't had her birthday): September 23-October 22, 1999 (this would put her in the same year as P5MC/Anne/Ryu/Yusuke, for reference on Ken, Ken is in the same grade as Goro/Mako/Haru).

The fandom Wiki seems to be going for the latter two (if you read the hovered note).

Personally? I think P3P just.......made a mistake (people like the bring up "Atlus can't math" a lot esp with that one thing with P4, so it's not that far fetched). That OR (which I think is funnier and more tragic TT0TT). Her parents reported her age wrong. ajskdflj;f

I mean, they are in the middle of (or just finished their) divorce. They are both a taaaaaad bit neglectful since they don't realize Maiko's been hanging out with a high schooler for so long (as well as planning to run away). So I wouldn't be surprised if they fucked up the reporting lkajfdsljfaka So it might not be a Persona 3 (Portable) Problem, but a .....Persona Parent problem! ;D

ANYWAY, this is something I wanna keep an eye out when I replay the P3 games (along side when I'm playing P3R). So expect a sequel post.

Looking Back on 2023

Heyyy folks! Long time no news from me huh. 

I'm struggling to think of what to even say about my silence. I've not been doing so bad I'd call myself depressed, but I'm doing a tad worse than just a slump. It's been a rough 6 months, not because of one big thing. Instead, a bunch of medium-sized reasons all piled up on top of each other to leave me extremely drained. I've mostly been working on the two commissions I still had in my queue (thank you to my commissioners for being so patient with me, I'm so sorry to make you wait so long <3). I've done a little personal art other than that but didn't have the leftover focus to keep up with sharing it on social media or writing up any updates about my situation. I've pretty much only been active sharing things in my art discord. I'd like to say I've been doing better in the last month or so, but I hesitate to make any promises at this point! We'll just have to see how things go :)

Artfight

So you were promised a more in depth artfight review but I think I missed the right timeframe for that... instead have this look at 3 years of unfinished artfight thumbnails from my new year's wip clean-out!

Year of Art Summary

All things considered I made a lot of art this year, and I'm really happy with how most of it turned out ☺ I did a bunch of experimenting with more playful techniques and color schemes and I think they suit my style a lot. I want to try and much those limits even more next year to see what kind of fun art I can create! Something with colors specifically really clicked in my brain after that witch drawing I did in April, before then I would spend a long time figuring out the perfect color scheme and doing a bunch of adjustments but ever since that drawing things have really been coming together super quick? I'm not sure what changed but no complaints from me. 

Life Drawing Summary 

I rarely post my life drawing but I've been keeping at it! Actually, I put together a few pdfs showcasing all my life drawing going back to 2022, you can download them for free in my itch or ko-fi shops! :>

I also put together a yearly art improvement comparison going back to 2015 that I was planning to put here. However, seeing how long this is already getting... I'll make a separate post for it.

Commissions

I've been gearing up to open commissions again after that unintended hiatus. I don't want to open slots until I'm sure I'm back to being able to finish them in a reasonable timeframe, so I've been using that leftover energy I do have to think about revamping some things and new styles to offer. Back in November I ran a survey on what people want to see from me (it's still open if you'd like to fill it out and help me get more stats!) 

here's a preview of what's to come based on that & my whims:

- stamp commissions were super well received so they'll be added to my main repertoire

- A combo of me reading too much dun meshi and wanting to offer some kind of comicky commissions led to this idea of comic pages of characters eating together, I have a couple examples in progress, when they're done I'll add this style to my main offerings!

- I'm still not 100% set on sketchpages but I like the idea of them so if this test goes well I'll add them as an option

Onward to 2024! 

I already completed my new year's resolution on day 1 of 2024, it was to pet a cat. I've made a second one which is to get a library card whenever my visa is approved and I move back home. It's been something I've been wanting to do for a while but never got around to, hoping this will be the excuse I need to do it.

Art-wise it's not a new goal, but I've been trying to focus on improving my rendering! Though I've also been playing around a lot with screentone... the two don't have to be at odds 🤔 

I'm dedicating this year's personal art time to making new references for as many ocs as possible with nude bases so I can easily design new outfits for them whenever I want to without fully making a new ref from scratch.

Otherwise I'm just trying to take it slow, work on things one at a time and see what happens from there.

To sum it up, he's an angel (as a race, rather than a 'divine religious being') and told the King and Queen of a false prophecy that their daughter would be taken away on her 18th birthday and killed so they raised her in total captivity from the outside world. while he made his schemings to steal the German crown prince's identity and plan to get married to her since her hand would be offered much earlier (ye olden times, at 14) so they could avoid the prophecy. but he's the menace here! and he killed all the other candidates. oopsie

I've been focusing on making character sheet/color references for artfight rather than making any other kind of art , really! I tried posting the sheets as I finished them here but I kind of just lost track BUT they are all on my deviant art so that I can get to them much easier than here.

I probably won't be making any fanart here until after artfight, and I'll probably only be posting about artfight until it is finished.

I've been struggling with trying to balance out my every day life with my hobbies, and balancing one hobby with another, but I know I'll figure out a good way eventually!

So as not to overwhelm people I may set a lot of this up to queue. That way I can get mini photos out without just flooding people who don't care. I have a lot of Warhammer and DND minis to get through. But with fics I'll post them ASAP so people can get a chance to read them.

I will also have a few polls up this week. I'm trying to put some standees, pins, and keychains in my shop and I want to see what people are more interested it. Some are Wow related, some is clone wars, a few niche anime characters who don't have any merch, and some other niche stuff. I'll have posts up for that between getting other things done.

For those of you waiting on fics, I apologize for the sudden delay. My new job took a while to settle into a comfortable schedule. But Wednesdays will probably be my consistent writing and work day from here on. So expect updates to be scattered around Thursday-Saturday.
