A Letter to Myself ~ Chapter 2
Series Description: A 1st person POV Isekai Ikemen Prince adventure told by me, your narrator. Not all true stories are believable, and not all true stories are real. I have changed my name and the names of anyone who inspired these characters.
Chapter Description: Liliana the maid has to figure out if she's dreaming, hallucinating, or has fallen into a completely new reality, but her answer becomes much clearer when she encounters a familiar face amidst the chaos.
Chapter Title: Walking Trouble
Triggers: Cursing
Tumblr media
Okay, so I’m Liesel. Cool, cool. Be cool. Normally I’m still me in my dreams, but hey, there’s a first time for everything, right? Okay, so let’s get dressed, shall we? I swiveled my head around the room, searching for the closet. Bingo. But upon pulling open the door, I discovered that the oddities truly did not seem to end. A maid’s outfit? Oh, you gotta be kidding me. The clothes were modest enough, and seemed practical and well-worn upon further inspection. Okay, so it’s not one of those kinky dreams. Damn, and I was kinda in the mood for that. Jesus, Liliana, focus. You don’t want the screaming lady to come back while your boobs are all hanging out, do you? Focus. Put on the clothes.
Silently thanking God that I’d been in enough operas set around the Victorian age to know how to layer my clothes and lace up a corset, I tugged a bow into the back of my dress with my almost-too-short arms and reached for the bonnet-looking cap on the bed. Ugh, I hate wearing my hair in a bun. As if my face isn’t round enough as is. “But such is dream life for now, I guess.” I mused aloud as I trussed my hair up, smoothing it as best I could in the little mirror on the wall before pinning it down with some pins I’d found in a box in the side table. The cap went on over my hair and I pinned it too, then smoothed down my skirt. “Well, I didn’t do too bad for my first time putting on this garb in a dream!” You know, Lil, this is a pretty damn elaborate dream you’re having. “Shut up, me.” I muttered to the voice in my head telling me that something was off. “It has to be a dream; literally cannot be anything but. Shit like this doesn’t happen in real life.” The “shit” I was referring to, was of course, isekai. I had the Webtoon app downloaded, I knew what it looked like, and this? Well, this looked like it. But I wasn’t going to decide for sure until I had some more evidence. So for now, I was “Liesel the maid”.
I talked myself up on the way down the stairs at the end of the long hallway of what I could only assume were other maid’s rooms. Several other maids were also in a rush, so I just followed them, praying they’d lead me to the kitchen. Okay, Liesel the maid, you got this. Just keep your head down and- “Oh, damn.” I muttered aloud when I stepped into the kitchen area and nearly ran head-first into the most attractive man I had ever seen. He was tall and lean, his closely-fit jacket showcasing the dip of his waist and the strong lines of his broad shoulders. An easy smile sat on his pink lips as he leaned against the doorway, and a glint of something akin to mischief glimmered deep within his golden eyes. “Got a little carried away, did we? hahaha!” He laughed, looking at me with amusement as I stumbled backward to keep from bumping into him.
“Sorry!” Shit, that’s not maid-talk, Lil. Get it together. “Apologies, sir.” I bowed my head to keep from staring at his perfect face any longer and scooted away from him, nearly missing the way his eyebrow crept up his forehead in mirth at my ridiculous reaction. Once I was a fairly safe distance away, hopefully lost in the sea of other maids, I braved another glance at him. Thankfully, his eyes were elsewhere and I let out a measured breath, my tense shoulders dropping as it left my lungs. Alrighty, got to be a dream. Definitely a dream. First of all, men that good looking are not real. Unless he’s an asshole and then it could possibly be real. But… Lil, you know who that looks like. No, it can’t be. No way. Not really. This is a dream, it has to be a - ack! He’s staring at me again! Shitshitshit- I dropped my eyes away from him as his golden ones found me again, his wavy lilac locks falling around his face as he observed me from afar. God… now I see why he has so many fans, with a face like that. Focus, Liliana!
I was assigned the east wing of the palace to clean and dust, and because I have no clue where the hell the east wing is, I paid attention to the other maids assigned to my area and just followed them. Dusting was the easy part. The hard part was making the beds and fixing them up to “maid code”. I promised myself as I was trying to fold the sheet at the bottom to tuck under the mattress to apply for a job at a hotel somewhere when I woke up, because if I had to pull out one more top sheet and redo the whole thing, I was going to scream, and I’m pretty sure that wouldn’t be very “maidly” of me. I crouched over the untucked corner and gathered the material in my hands the way I’d seen Sasha, a fellow maid, do for the bed corners in the last room I’d helped her with, and tried to fold it over evenly. Thank God, I think I’ve got it this time.
I patted the made bed with pride after laying on the top cover and blanket, and went to gather all my other cleaning supplies to take them back to the cart in the hall. Humming softly, I placed the bucket of water and cloth I’d used to wash the windows back onto the cart, along with my broom and dustpan. I was so damn calm on the outside, but my thoughts were spiraling. Okay, I’ve never done this many things in consecutive order in my dreams. I also normally can’t think like this in my dreams; I never think my dreams are dreams, they just are. What if- what if I died in my sleep? Okay but what about heaven? Heaven’s a thing, right? Oh God, what if I ended up in hell somehow? That would explain all the manual labor… I was so lost down the rabbit hole of possibilities that I didn’t see him coming until he had trapped me against the wall, his long arms caging me in and his glittering golden eyes only inches from mine as his silky mauve locks tickled my face.
Holy. Fucking. Shit.
The realization hit me hard as his lips quirked into a vexatious smirk. I’ve just been kabedoned by a fucking prince.

Author Self-Interview
tagged by: @ljf613
Name: Pencil
Fandoms: *deranged laughter* Too many. I have written (and published) work for Fairy Tail, Genshin Impact, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, Voltron: Legendary Defender, the Arrowverse, ~Disney~, RWBY, and Transformers: Prime. I have also written for Seven Deadly Sins, My Hero Academia, DC/Batman, Avengers, Danny Phantom, and soooo many others, but those are all WIPs and such. As for fandoms, well, there’s Miraculous Ladybug, Tales of Arcadia, Avatar: The Last Airbender, Tower of God, and more. I bounce around, and I never really leave anything behind, even if other interests are more at the forefront.
Where do you post: AO3. I used to, waaaaaay back in the dark days, post on ff.net, but not only have I forgotten my password, but I don’t like the interface as much, nor the things I posted when I was a Child, so AO3 it is.
Most popular multi-chapter fic: Of Dragons and Fairies, so says my AO3 statistics.
Most popular oneshot: Sparks in the Night, which I by no means expected, being that it was a fun little thing I wrote pretty much in one night. Technically it’s two chapters, but I originally wasn’t going to post the second part I wrote, but decided to later, so I would’ve made it a one-shot, probably, had I thought things through. Besides, it’s only 3k, so that’s a one-shot in my book.
The “real” most popular one-shot would be Never Forgotten by Pencil-actually-made-it-one-chapter logic.
Favorite story you’ve written so far: F-favorite? Oh. Oh well, um, I have really, really enjoyed the How to Raise Your Dragon Slayer series, far more than I thought I would when I started Of Dragons and Fairies for the kicks and giggles. That said, my favorite installment so far is probably The Eighth Tower, but one of my favorite things I think I have written is a massive one-shot that’s an MHA-style FMA fic, except that I lost it in a harddrive crash and haven’t re-written it. ;-;
Fic you were nervous to post: I don’t know if I’m ever really nervous? I generally post things and accept whatever outcome (even though I always hope it’s well received, because I’m a selfish author who likes validation). That said, it would definitely be United. That story was, and still is, one of my favorite brain-children, but I guessed that it wouldn’t be popular, and I was right. I haven’t written on it in a long time, though I have always wanted to circle back to it eventually; I just figured I had time to follow my current interests, since nobody else was chomping at the bit. One day my child, one day...
How do you choose your titles: Heh. Heheheh. HAHAHAHA. Very carefully, actually, even though sometimes I try to just slap something on a page anyway because it needs one. Most of the time, I try to capture the theme of the story—or at least one of the core ones—and allow it to both serve as a descriptor and as a note that would tie the story together and highlight the theme. Though I do appreciate allusions, and I like to include those as well. (If anyone wants to send me an ask about how I came up with a specific title, I will gladly give my thought process.) Unfortunately, chapter titles—as much as I try—rarely get as much inspiration as the fic title.
Do you outline: Y— Yesssssss.... Sort of. I try. Ironically, my most comprehensive outlines exist as Spotify playlists. That said, HTRYDS probably has the best outline of anything I’ve written, though Tales of Valor had a decent outline as well.
Complete: Mostly just one-shots—I’m actually pretty bad at completing things, heheh—but there’s a few. Outside of an ongoing series, Finding Home is my only completed multi-chapter. Inside of a series, but existing as comprehensive arcs, I have Of Dragon and Fairies and The Eighth Tower.
Edit: Oh! And it’s short, but The Recruitment Spiel is an Art But Destiny Took the Fun Out of It is complete! And multi-chapter. Yeah.
Do you accept prompts: Kinda. I’m accepting prompts and ideas for extra scenes for the HTRYDS series, though I’ll tailor them to fit my canon if necessary. Generally, I have so many things of my own to write, any prompt I got would be placed in the back of the line (unless I got super inspired, which happens) but I do enjoy prompts, provided they’re not super shippy or specific.
Upcoming story you’re most excited to write about: Well, that untitled I-have-to-write-it-again oneshot for FMA that I mentioned is definitely something I want to do and post eventually. As for what I’m actively working on, I am really excited for the next HTRYDS arc (I’ve been trudging through TLS to get to it, ngl) which will be titled Demon Tales. There’s also this Seven Deadly Sins TOG AU I’ve had rolling around, though I may not continue that the way I had planned because 4KOTA gave me more ammo.
Stories you’re most excited to read: Hmmm. I have quite a few things queued in my Marked for Later list, some that I’ve started and some that I wanted to check out, but as to what I have been currently reading/following, the Poisoned Dreams Continuity by StrangeDiamond (AO3), which is currently inbetween fics, and Homuncular Nature by Otaku553 are a couple of things I have been following. I also read a lot of Webtoons, and I have some Tower of God to catch up on, and Room of Swords and Lore Olympus are always welcome updates. I’m currently perusing some of my Marked for Laters, and in regular searches, to see what my next few reads will be. (Feel free to send me recs, but I also got a hefty stack of ATLA fics to check out, I know.)

Webcomic Whimsy: Tame
Welcome to the Woohooligan Weekly Webcomic Whimsy! If you're a webcomic author and would like a review, you can see my announcement and review rules here.
Title: Tame
Author: Tailzkip (of the illegibile signiature :P) • Patreon • Facebook • Twitter • DeviantArt • YouTube
Site: Webtoon (some earlier chapters are also on Tapas where I read them)
Genres: Horror, Modern, Black Comedy, Drama(?), Action(?), demon rules-lawyering, young people make the worst decisions
Rating: PG, T for Teen(?) - some violence
Updates: 15 page chapters at a time (I assume not every week)
My Starting Point (requested by artist): Beginning
Synopsis (from Webtoon): Kioshi lost everyone close to him during an explosion at his school's festival and ever since he has had the ability to see demons. With his demon Nekeo at his side, Kioshi must make it through the grieving process and move forward in his life.
Tame seems like an interesting concept. A demon growing to love the guy who's passive-agressively trapping him into a contract that the guy doesn't even give a shit about... It's sort of like where Anime meets one of those Life Time movies about someone struggling with addiction or alcoholism. The characters seem to be trapped in cycles of horrible decisions that endanger, hurt, and even kill themselves and everyone around them, and have no notable benefit to compensate for all the destruction (at least as far as I can tell from what i've read)... but with a healthy dose of PUN-ishing comedy.
If you enjoy manga, demons and black comedy, I think it's worth a look!
Tumblr media
Oh, look! A big bowl of foreshadowing!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Well so far we're only seeing one shape and size, which appears to be a cat with some kind of alien parasite on the end of it's tail? Seems like these three panels could have been condensed and not taken up a whole page.
Tumblr media
The start still feels a little sluggish, but we're getting somewhere... mass murder in the diner and the waiter, Kioshi, is blaming it on a demon, and presumably (since he's off camera) the police investigator is humoring him instead of just sending him away for the padded-room guys to deal with.
Tumblr media
Wait... is the cop a demon? Why do we only get to see part of his face surrounded by blood spatters? Is Kioshi tripping balls? That would explain a lot. Plus he seems pretty balsy for the prime suspect in a mass murder while being a waiter... how's he going to pay for his legal defense? Big tippers in his town?
Tumblr media
"I didn't mean literally."
Tumblr media
Is he not a waiter? If not, then why was he wearing a bloody apron? He swiped it off a waiter when the shooting started? Didn't want blood on his nicely wrinkled, untucked shirt?
Tumblr media
Okay! We went from "parked car" speed to "is time dilating?" in about two pages flat. Not that I mind it picking up speed, but it's a little whiplashy. And I feel a flashback coming on.
Tumblr media
Flasbhack. Called it! Ow, the whiplash! No information in this page outside of the fact that buildings are on fire and demon kid's got some weird hair.
Tumblr media
That's a pretty weird way to define a contract... "Hey Humpty, gimme a hot-dog with extra relish! ... Damnit, I entered into a demon contract AGAIN!"
Tumblr media
Greedy? It's not like he asked for extra relish... but I guess that slave-form thing is pretty convenient for Kioshi.
Tumblr media
I don't think anyone can figure out what that is... Alien invasion? The world's largest hula-hoop?
Tumblr media
A special summons from a corrupt monk... damn, that was my next guess.
Tumblr media
Sooo... he's faster and a better escape artist in his slave form than his true form? That's a pretty lousy slave if the slave form is harder to control.
Tumblr media
I see the part where the demon is becoming tame has started... he violated one of the "demons will not..." clauses at the beginning by moving in with Kioshi. So if this is true to form, the rest of the series is Nekeo violating one of those things every chapter or so.
Tumblr media
And there we have it, the whole hunt-down the terrorists thing is a McGuffin to give Kioshi a reason to keep a mass-murdering demon around, because... he's cute, in a mass-murdery sort of way.
Tumblr media
Did I say cute mass-murderer? I meant cut mass-murderer bent on destroying any hope you have of happiness in this life or the next. So... Kioshi is a clinically depressed massochist who won't settle for a regular cat, because why have that when you could have people dropping dead around you on the daily, yo?
Tumblr media
Is he "SO DEAD!" Or "sooo... dead"? I'm getting the sense Kioshi is also bi-polar.
Tumblr media
Wait... the demon Nekeo has horrible eldritch powers that helped you escape the collapse of a burning building, and later murder a diner full of people... but not so much keeping him from catching the flu? Like... when it comes to medical, I've got an upper hand over this demon because I have Purell.
Tumblr media
I always bake using antifreeze... it's the only way to keep the cookies soft in the frozen tundra.
Tumblr media
I dunno... doesn't seem like it's the cat-demon that needs to pick up on things.
Tumblr media
You know he can hear you, right? He's still a cat.
Tumblr media
She's served for generations and she's fine, but Nekeo needs to jump from contract to contract and 3 years is too long... hmmm... Also, this Konno kid is way too smarmy for a 14 yr old.
Tumblr media
This starts a short action sequence where this Kireina demon-girl is all blood-lust trying to kill Nekeo, so Kioshi and Nekeo are running to try and get away until Konno confusingly stops her, which he said he couldn't do.
Tumblr media
And right on schedule, Nekeo violates the 2nd list item at the end of chapter two.
That's the end of my hour of reading after two chapters, and whatever happened to that cop with the ghost face? What about the murderous grandma next door? So many questions.
One other thing I'll mention is that as I was reading, I forgot that Kioshi is supposed to be grieving a loss of family and friends. It's really not mentioned IN the story, just in the synopsis. The only thing that comes close is the mention of the terrorist attack and the collapse of the building, but that scene only describes the creation of the contract with Nekeo, it doesn't give any backstory or insight into Kioshi's mental state. Some mention of the family and friends he lost (presumably in the terrorist attack) in the story would likely help explain why his behavior is so self-destructive.
While there's a fair amount that could use improvement in the first couple chapters, I think the concept has some potential. If you enjoy manga, demons and black comedy, give it a read!
If you are a webcomic author and are interested in a review from me, you can check out my announcement and my review-request rules here.
If you enjoyed this and want to help me make more reviews, you can contribute on our Patreon or if you're short on funds you can also help by checking out and sharing my own comedy and laughtivist webcomic, Woohooligan!
