Thinking about Steve on this Mother’s Day.
He comes home and notices a familiar van parked in his driveway, but no one is in it. It’s strangely eerie, and Steve knows that Eddie usually waits for him, but maybe he’s in his backyard.
Steve goes to his front door and tries to unlock it but notices it’s already been unlocked. Okay. Time to get the bat.
He runs back to his car and grabs the nail bat out of his trunk. Maybe Eddie’s just playing a prank on him, but he can never be too sure. He makes his way back to the front door and slowly opens it.
Oh.
There are balloons covering his place and he can hear shushes and some giggles. “Hello?” Steve asks playing along a bit. But he also wonders who all is there.
“Happy Mother’s Day!” A chorus of people shout uncoordinated as they jump out from behind things.
Steve takes a moment to take in all the kids, Eddie, and even Robin staring at him in anticipation.
Steve doesn’t know what to do except laugh. He’s close to tears as everyone approaches him and Eddie decides to turn the moment into a group hug.
“How did you get into my house?” Steve asks as he squeezed in the middle.
Dustin replies loudly over everyone else, “Eddie broke into your window! It was so cool!”
As the group hug breaks apart with a few people - Max - pretending like they’re too cool for it, Steve makes eye contact with Eddie and who looks as proud as he was when he hot wired the RV. He’ll have to lecture him again about not breaking into his house, but that will come later.
“How did you guys get out of your own Mother’s Day celebrations?” Steve asks.
“We told them that we were keeping our gifts for them at your house and had to stop here before coming back,” Dustin says excitedly.
“Hey, Dingus, that wasn’t your plan. Stop taking credit for it,” Robin says looking like she’s holding back from hitting him on the back of the head. She turns to Steve and continues, “Don’t worry, the gifts stayed at Eddie’s house before being moved to mine after careful consideration.”
“I told Joyce what we were doing,” El says looking at Will with some concern before turning back to Steve. “But she made you a cake.”
“That’s where it came from?” Mike asks. “Shit, she’s gonna tell my mom. She’s going to tell all of our moms.”
“Shit! Abort mission!” Dustin yells and runs and hugs Steve. “Bye Steve! Happy Mother’s Day!”
The other kids run out the door saying quick goodbyes to Steve. When the door closes, Steve looks back at Robin and Eddie and asks, “Did they grab the gifts for their moms?”
Eddie and Robin look at each other then rush to the front door and open it in time to see the kids raiding Eddie’s van and getting their bikes out of the bushes they were hidden in. “I’m going to say yes,” Robin says.
“Be careful!” Steve yells as they bike away somehow managing to hold their presents and biking at the same time. As El climbs on the back on Will’s bike and they take off, Steve sighs, “When do I have to tell them they’re getting too old for that?”
“When you teach El how to ride a bike, Mom,” Robin laughs and nudges Steve. “But hey, I have to head out, too,” she hugs Steve and says, “Too bad there isn’t an Aunt’s Day.”
“I’ll drive you back,” Eddie tells Robin as she salutes him and walks to his car.
Steve does his signature mom stance and looks at Eddie. “Did you plan this just so you could break into my house?”
“Hey, who said I planned this,” Eddie says with a wide grin. “But if I did, then no, that was not the sole intention of this. Plus, Dustin was the first to say we should briefly celebrate Mother’s Day with you, so it really wasn’t all me-”
Steve cuts off Eddie with a hug. “Thank you,” he whispers as Eddie squeezes him a bit tighter. When they pull away they stare at each other for a few moments.
A loud car horn interrupts their moment. “Come on love birds, I need to go!” Robin yells.
Steve curses her under his breath then smiles at Eddie. “Better head out.”
“I’ll be back after I drop her off. And hey, there’s a surprise for you in your room. Happy Mother’s Day,” Eddie says with a bright grin and walks towards his car.
“Wait!” Steve says and hesitates as Eddie turns around, “Does this mean we have to celebrate Father’s Day with you?”
Eddie laughs loudly as Robin groans. “Absolutely!” Eddie replies as his laughter dies down and he gets in the van.
Steve waves at them as they take off. Once they’re out of sight, he takes off up the stairs to his room. He opens the door and spots a pile of poorly wrapped gifts on his bed then a note that says “CAKE IS IN THE FRIDGE” with a poorly drawn smiley face on it.
Steve takes a moment to collect himself and he whispers under his breath, “You’re not going to cry about this.” He pinches his nose and smiles as his vision slightly blurs.
Even with how brief the visit was, it absolutely made Steve’s day. “Happy Mother’s Day to me,”Steve laughs as a tear escapes down his face.
He really loves his kids.

Fuming with anger, his chest tightening. You and Nanami hadn’t notice him but he couldn’t take it anymore, he couldn’t bear to linger in your and Nanami’s presence a moment longer or he might not be able to control his shit. Hurriedly, he made his way through the dimly lit hallway to the bathroom, his steps heavy with frustration.
Once inside the bathroom, Gojo leaned over the sink, aggressively splashing cold water on his face attempting to repress the rising tide of his emotions. As the water flown on his face and chest, closing his eyes for the cold sensation to take him, your smile whenever you talked to your students, your laugh whenever Yuuji cracked a joke, the sparkle in your eyes whenever you explained new techniques and moves to your class, the hair strands falling on your face while you slept peacefully. But alongside those beautiful memories lingered the image of you and Nanami a few moments ago, your face inches away from each other as if you were gonna kiss, the way Nanami treated you with gentleness, with love and respect as if he’s your husband and not Gojo. A pang of envy ate him up from the inside. Also remembering how you and Nanami were so casually discussing how he had to kill his only bestfriend, it was too much to handle in only one night.
Clenching his fists, with a sudden burst of emotions, he slammed his hand against the wall, inches away from the mirror. The sharp sting of pain momentarily distracted him from his thoughts.
Alone, looking at his reflection in the mirror, struggling to make sense of the conflicting emotions that swirled within him.
“No it can’t be! I’m not jealous! I hate her…”
Longing, jealousy, deep-seated sense of inadequacy and emptiness. Being the strongest comes with a high cost; being lonely.
With a deep breath, after composing himself in the bathroom, Satoru splashed his face once more with water before turning to leave. As he exited, his mind still racing, he bumped into someone,
“Gojo? What a surprise!”
“Mei Mei?”
She stood before him with a sly, her eyes gleaming with mischief as she scanned his face. Trying her best to catch his attention with the lingerie she was wearing, seductively touching her neck.
“Couldn’t sleep Gojo?”
“Nah, just used the bathroom and now going back to my room”
“Why the rush? Fancy the change of scenery? I’m sure you’re sick of seeing Y/n beside you for the whole night?”
“Nah I’m good-” he replied coldly,
he knew what she’s attempting to do, he’s aware of her feelings towards him but he clearly rejected them a long time ago but she doesn’t seem to get it, especially that it’s his fault to give her a chance to get close to him just to annoy Y/n. And now he regrets it.
But she was persistent, not planning to let go of him. As he walked pass her, she grabbed his arm and spoke,
“Come on Gojo, I thought we’re on the same team! Maybe I can distract you from what’s on your mind right now.. or Y/n is allowed to have fun with Nanami and you’re not ? let’s talk privately in my room, maybe I can help? We’re friends after all, aren’t we?” she smirked.
The thought of Y/n and Nanami together made his blood boil again, completely blinded by anger.
“Okay then, lead the way” he relented,
He knows that probably Nanami and his wife are not like what they seem, but his narcissism told him that he needs to take revenge. If his wife spends time with another man, he’ll spend time with another woman. Even though he’s the one who started this cycle in the first place. He knows its wrong, he can’t even stand Mei Mei, but for his own pride, he had to do it, even though you wouldn’t even see him with her but at least in front of himself. He wasn’t planning to do anything with Mei Mei, he was just there.
“Come in, so do you wanna drink something?”
“I’m good”
“Why do you keep pushing me away, I’m trying to help you know” she said taking off the part of the lingerie that was covering her shoulders. Now completely exposed, only in her laced silky lingerie as she took a seat on her bed.
Gojo sighed, knowing her intentions and the game she was playing. He was feeling extremely uncomfortable.
“You said you wanted to talk.. Go ahead”
“I see you’re rushing! Don’t tell me you already miss sleeping beside your wife, or let me guess! She’s not even there cuz she’s having a date with Nanami?”
“Mei Mei shut up” he said calmly.
“Why? Did it trigger you? Don’t tell me you caught feelings while she’s completely ignoring you for another man… I guess your plan to offend her didn’t work Gojo but rather made her happy to find Nanami”
“I SAID SHUT THE FUCK UP” he yelled,
“NO I’M NOT GONNA SHUT UP, I’M NOT GONNA GIVE UP AND LET YOU FALL IN LOVE WITH HER”
“Do you hear yourself? What love are you talking about?”
“I know you have feeling s for Y/n Gojo! But as long as I’m in your life, I wouldn’t allow it to happen..” she paused crawling closer to him as he sat on the bed egde “You deserve someone like me Gojo, why can’t you give me a chance? Divorce with her!! Why would you wait for her curse to break, you know she’s useless either way”
“I won’t divorce her. I won’t give you a chance Mei Mei”
“You sure about that? Look at me, I have everything she doesn’t. You can do whatever you want with me, I offer you my body for tonight and for every night Gojo”
“NO! can’t you see that I don’t want you Mei Mei.. I’m not interested in touching you”
“I was the one who helped you Gojo to offend her and make her life a living hell, is this how you thank me by rejecting me?”
“I paid you for it, you’ve got the money what do you want more?”
“YOU! I LOVE YOU GOJO SATORU” she yelled, her hands reaching his private part to touch it but he slapped them away.
Without saying anything he walked towards the door to leave her room. He walked outside, but she followed him,
“Not so fast, you can’t just leave me like that-” she exclaimed desperately.
She grabbed his face and attempted to kiss him but before he could push her away, a voice spoke behind him,
“Satoru?” you said, your eyes widening.
You caught them in a very wrong time, Mei Mei was basically half naked, only in her laced lingerie that exposed her chest and barely covered her thighs and Gojo shirtless while their faces were close to each other and in front of her room. You couldn’t help but think that both of them half naked, did something very intimate; sex.
“Cheater” you mumbled and started walking away,
“Y/n wait” said Nanami, but you were already gone.
Gojo heart sank at your sight, your expressions a mixture of shock and betrayal. He watched helplessly as you turned away, your footsteps echoing in the silence that followed. It’s true he wanted revenge from the very beginning; he’s the one who asked for Mei Mei’s help. If he got caught in this situation at the beginning of your marriage he would be happiest but now? It made him more frustrated. He wanted to immediately run behind you, but he stopped himself. Why would he if both of you hate each other? You were with Nanami as well,  but he knew it wasn’t the same case. Mei Mei told you a lot of false information about her and Gojo being together and hooking up so seeing them both half naked could only mean one thing to you, that he fucked her and cheated on you.
“Fuck” he muttered under his breath.
Mei Mei smirked, seeing you like that made her happy and satisfied. Gojo rounded on her, his eyes narrowing with anger.
“You’re pathetic Mei Mei…. You’re living a false fantasy in your head and I pity you” he spat
“Aren’t you the same with Y/n? Living in your daydream about being with her while she’s out there with your colleague?” she spoke offensively.
His hands clenched into fists, his chest heavy with pent-up emotions. He was completely lost, he couldn’t understand why he felt his way, why it bothered him so much that he got caught. You were going to divorce anyway right? The realization of the consequences of his own actions hit him like a ton of bricks, but he can’t blame Mei Mei, the only one to blame is himself, he knew Mei Mei’s intentions from the beginning but he followed along, driven by his narcissism and ego, and now he’s silently paying for it.
“I don’t love you Mei Mei get that through your head, you took your money, now leave me alone-”
“You’ll regret that Gojo, you’ll regret breaking my heart”
“If there’s something to regret, is regretting involving you in the first place” he said through gritted teeth and then left.
“Don’t follow her Gojo, she clearly doesn’t wanna talk to you and she needs time now” said Nanami as Gojo walked past him.
“This will be my last warning Nanamin, stay away from my wife!” he threatened pointing his index finger at him.
“You dare to call her wife after cheating on her, your arrogance will end you someday Gojo Satoru”
“I. Didn’t. Cheat. On. Her”
“That’s not what it looks like…but you fucked up real bad”
“Mind your business” spat Satoru then left the his room.
….
You hesitated to knock on the door but you did eventually. Ain’t no way you’re spending the night with Gojo, you felt disgusted, and your heart was aching so much. Why would it hurt like this? Why would it affect you so much? You felt your inside organs sinking, as if someone got your heart in their hands and started squeezing it tightly making it bleed. Even though you were with Nanami, but both of you were respectful and didn’t cross the boundaries and most of all, fully dressed. Always eminding yourself that you’re a married woman and even if you don’t respect Gojo you still respect yourself and the others around you.
“Y/n – sensei? Is everything okay?” said Maki as she opened the door.
Summoning your courage, you mustered the strength to voice your request,
“Could..could I spend the night here?” you asked.
“Of course sensei, come in please!”
Despite her sharp personality, Maki was always sweet and understanding towards you. She respects you a lot and over time both of you developed a good friendship even though she’s you’re student. She as well can’t stand Mei Mei and Satoru, so she knows well your struggle.
“Are you alright?” she asked worriedly,
“Mhm” you nodded
“You know if you wanna talk about it, I’m all ears!”
“You’re so sweet Maki! But I’m fine don’t worry I just don’t wanna spend the night with Satoru, you already know, haha the whole school knows that our marriage is fake so it’s kinda hard for both of us to share the room” you said trying to hide the truth that you actually caught your husband half naked with another woman.
“Is it Mei Mei? I know she always causes problems”
“Nah it has nothing to do with her” you reassured “Go back to sleep Maki, you have a long day tomorrow”
Maki moved a bit, giving you some space to lay there.
“Make yourself comfortable”  she smiled, giving you an extra blanket.
Anytime you closed your eyes, the sight of both of them creeped up in your mind, your eyes getting wet , you didn’t notice until that one single drop of tear fell on the pillow.
“No it can’t be…I hate him so much” you thought to yourself, trying to ease the heaviness you felt in your heart.
Finally, the sun rose. Announcing a new day. While Maki was asleep at night, you had a full conversation with yourself, giving yourself “the talk”. Convincing yourself that once you divorce him, things will get better and maybe you’ll meet the love of your life when you’re finally free from your curse and from him.
You headed to the common room with Maki to have breakfast, being with her while chatting about random things made your start of the day a lot better, you knew you’d find him there but you weren’t sure how to face him or repress that uncontrollable sting you felt. But your approach was to pretend, pretend as if you didn’t care, as if what happened yesterday was just a bad dream. You took a seat next to Nanami and Megumi and started munching on your food. Completely ignoring Gojo’s sad eyes that were looking your way and Mei Mei’s smirk that was directed to you. You actd as if both of them weren’t there. You enjoyed your breakfast, chitchatting with Nanami, he was as equally confused as Gojo. Didn’t you get pissed yesterday, how did you control your emotions in one night, how strong could you be. But Nanami was happy that you were doing alright, a cheater is definitely not worthy of your tears. Gojo tightened his grip around his cup, excusing himself from the table, barely finishing his food.
You spent your day teaching as usual, but having extra fun and laughing extra hard. To others it seemed real but inside it was nothing but a pretend. Laughing to not give a chance to your sorrow to take over you. Laughing and being a social butterfly, joking around with your students just to hide how empty you were feeling from the inside. The void inside of you got more bigger, and it requires more efforts to conceal it. You’ve got this, you’ve been dealing with emptiness and disappointment since a very young age, but as you got older you learned how to hide it but let it break you when you’re completely alone.
You watched as your students were gathered in the school field, chatting and having fun, a smile tugged on the corners of your mouth, having friends and enjoying your teenage years is something you never experienced but it made you happy to see others enjoy it; cousins and siblings, sharing inside jokes and discussing events that happened at school , gossiping about teachers while you sat in a corner, forced by your parents to sit with them, just so you don’t lose your social skills of being at home for your whole life. Funny how they were scared that you might lose your social skills while you already lost yourself.
And now it’s repeating itself, you’re watching your students laugh together and enjoy their time. But it’s never too late to have. You walked towards them, yes, you’ll join them and act as if you were a student, for once you wanted to experience that.
“Hey guys, watcha doing?” you said with a smile.
“Oh Sensei! We were just having fun” exclaimed Yuuji excitedly,
“Oh , mind if I join?” you asked
“You’re always welcome in the friend group sensei” said Nobara
You sat with them, joining in the fun, carrying the conversation with them. Maybe you had nothing positive out of this new life, out of this marriage but at least now you have friends; Nanami, Maki, Yujii and the other students. Funny how these young students are way mature and respectful than Gojo and Mei Mei. Proof that power isn’t everything if you can’t be a decent human being.
As you were laughing at one of Panda’s jokes, you were taken aback from a deep voice that filled the space and got you al mute instantly.
“You brats are so loud, wonder how Y/N is bearing you”
You kept looking for the voice, when Yuji slapped his face.
“Eeh apologies sensei, he likes to intervene in the most unexpected times”
“Huh?” you looked at Yuuji and you saw a mouth popping up on his cheek.
“What is that?” you asked again
“That? Tch I’m Ryomen Sukuna the king of curses”
It was the first time you see him, or only his mouth. You knew Yuuji was the vessel but you didn’t know that he could show up like that. Suddenly, tattoos started appearing on Yuuji’s face.
“Oh this can’t be any good” muttered Megumi.
You looked in disbelief, the jujutsu world is full of surprises. Scary but interesting.
“Now kids excuse us, I need to talk with Y/N alone” said Sukuna making you furrow your brows.
All of them stood their ground, ready to exorcise him if he ever touched you. You heart warmed at how they were considerate and protective over you but it made you feel weak. A teacher is the one supposed to protect the studenst and not opposite.
“I won’t let you hurt Y/n-sensei” said Megumi
“That’s okay guys! I’ll be fine” you smiled towards them “Go back to your classes, I’ll join you later”
Well you weren’t sure if you’ll join them later or not, given that Ryomen Sukuna is standing in front of you and he could snap you in half before even trying to take your last breath. But you wanted to face a real danger, you’ve never seen a curse and you had the honor to see the king of curses.
Sukuna looked at you with his red eyes and a playful smirk drawn on his face.
“So you’re the rumored to surpass me?” he started
“E-excuse me?” you said in confusion, how would you surpass the king of curses.
“Oh yeah I remember, they’re hiding a lot of things from you, a lot of information from you….but I’m not one to spoil the fun but rather run with the flow if I like it of course…so imma just say, I can’t wait for you curse to break.”
“What are you talking about? What info? And why would you wait for my curse to break?”
“To finally have the legendary duel that everyone is waiting for, including your husband”
You froze in place, as fear crept into your bones like a chill.
“There must be a mistake, what duel? I’m not even a sorcerer”
“You will be! You don’t know your potential yet, surprised that that brat Gojo Satoru hasn’t told you, he likes to spoil everything”
“So is this an indirect way to say that you can’t wait to kill me?”
“Something like that yeah”
“oh wow wonderful” you chuckled nervously, as your hands started sweating.
What a way to finish your day, by getting threatened by the king of curses himself.
As you were talking, Mei Mei interrupted you. You rolled your eyes, being threatened by Sukuna is way better than seeing her face. But you had to act cool.
“Oh look who’s here” she begun “The famous Ryomen Sukuna”
“Isn’t she scared that he might kill her?” you thought to yourself.
“I’m having a private conversation so get out of here” he spat ruthlessly
“Oh don’t worry, I have no intention in fighting you Sukuna just wanted to check up on my friend”
“Talking as if you stand a chance against me in a fight, so don’t make me say it again, piss off NOW”
“Alright, but I see that Y/n is having fun, surrounding yourself by men! Married to Gojo, hooking up with Nanami and now hitting on Ryomen Sukuna… not only a gold and power digger but also a curse digger…. Now I see why Gojo chose me- because you’re a slut”
You couldn’t take it anymore, so you slapped her as hard as you could, you hand connected with her cheek in a sharp crack. The force of the slap sent a shockwave through Mei Mei’s body, her head snapping to the side with the impact. For a moment, time seemed to stand still as she registered the sting of pain radiating from her cheek, a burning sensation that pulsed with each rapid heartbeat. As she found your eyes, she was met with a fury gaze that burned holes through her. She’s been provoking you and pushing you to the brink for days now, and you finally snapped.
Sukuna watched with amusement, you didn’t disappoint even though you’ve got 0 cursed energy. He knew you were different from the day you succeeded in landing a punch on the famous Gojo Satoru, he’s formidable enemy. But know he’s no longer interested in Gojo, his new target is you.
Mei Mei took a step closer to you but Sukuna stood in front of you,
“You dare to lay a finger on her and I’ll chop you into pieces” he threatened, his red eyes glowing .
“I know you won’t, you have a pact with Yuji and you can’t break it”
“Who said I can’t? know your place fool, I’m the king of curses”
“Ahh” she laughed in disbelief.
“Are you thick in the head or what? I SAID PISS OFF BITCH”
Mei Mei left both of you alone, walking away like a loser she is. You looked at Sukuna, he was threatening you a few minutes ago and now defending you?
“Why’d you do that? Defend me? I thought you wanted to kill me?”
“Because you’re reserved for me, no one can harm my future opponent, gotta keep you safe fpr now so I can enjoy fighting you later” he smirked.
You glared at him,
“So I’m supposed to thank you?”
“Nah you’re supposed to find out why your curse didn’t break yet, aren’t you curious?”
You were indeed curious but you had nothing you could do except waiting, you married Satoru and that’s the ultimate thing you could do. After making your vows that bond was automatically created, you knew breaking the curse takes time, but it took longer than you expected, but what can you do except waiting? So you avoided it and just let this invisible bond do its thing. Now after meeting Sukuna you were questioning if you truly wanted to become a sorcerer, since you’ll probably get killed by him.
“I’m not” you simply said and left.
“We’ll meet again Y/n, so better count your days” he teased, his devilish laughed echoeing in your ears.
…..
“Sensei are you alright?” asked Maki
“Yeah I’m fine, just had a small talk with Sukuna” you reassured them
“SENSEI” yelled Yuuji as he ran towards you.
“Yuuji-kun?”
“I’m sorry Sensei I couldn’t stop him from swapping…I’m sorry if he scared you” explained Yuuji with an apologetic expression, as he engulfed you in a hug.
“Aw, you’re the sweetest Yuuji! But no need to worry about me, I’m really fine” you smiledwidely, patting his head.
“I’m glad you’re okay!”
“Now go on to your dorms, it’s getting late”
….
You closed your room’s door, taking a heavy breath as you started changing into your pyjamas,
“And I thought my life wouldn’t get any worse”
Settling on your bed, you didn’t want to spend the night with Satoru but you had no option. You can’t spend the rest of your life in Maki’s room. As you were trying to calm yourself down from the storm that raged inside you, your stomach twisting, expecting Gojo to show up at any given moment, you grabbed your book, flipping the pages. You couldn’t concentrate or keep your focus on anything, your thoughts scrambled, too many threats, too many problems and it was already a success that you didn’t lose your shit yet. Trying your best to stay composed and to not go completely crazy on anyone who tries to talk to you.
As your eyes focused on the page in front you, words not making any sense, the door creaked open, shattering your desperate attempt of having a peaceful night. Your heart leaped into your throat, you knew he’ll join you eventually, but forseeing it didn’t make you any prepared. A wave of panic washed over you, feeling as if you were going to puke from how anxious you were. You averted your gaze back to your book, avoiding him even though you felt his eyes boring into you. You didn’t know the reason behind his intense looks and you weren’t ready to find out as well. Your jaw clenched tight as you tried to keep your emotions in check, your silence already spoke volumes.
He grabbed a t-shirt and one of his sweatpants from his wardrobe and started changing, you weren’t phased by him changing in front of you, you were actually ignoring his existence. He knew you were done with him when you didn’t yell at him for changing in front of you, for not even being bothered by his appearance. You were boiling inside, but you kept a poker face. And it broke him into pieces, it have made him loads better if you screamed and yelled at him, if you voiced your anger like you usually do, but your silence scared him for the very first time and he thought it was the end.
He joined you in bed. By his body language you could tell he was preparing to say something. He cleared his throat, hesitant to say anything, but he had to keep that cool and confident image.
“Hey about last night, just so you know I didn’t cheat on you- it’s not like what it seemed, we di-”
“I don’t wanna hear anything, I don’t wanna even hear your voice Satoru” you said coldly
“I’m not dying to express myself but I don’t like it when someone msiun-”
“THEN SHUT UP” you snapped out of frustration
“W-what?”
“Idon’t wanna hear any more lies Satoru, you can fuck her as much as you want you, it’s not phasing me at all”
“Then why did it bother you like that to the point that ran away-”
“Because I’m disgusted of you” you said through gritted teeth throwing away your book on the floor
He didn’t say anything, but looked at you with wide eyes as you threw a tantrum.
“Why’d you insist that I’m a cheater huh? Because I’m not! She pushed herself on me! It was just a wrong timing”
“I.Don’t.Care!” you said as you left the bed
“Yeah clearly, you don’t care about anyone except yourself” now he started attacking you,
“WHAT?”
He took a step closer to you, his hand grabbing your wrist forcefully, pulling you towards him,
“I said you only care about yourself! You see what you want to see, you understand what you want to understand, you don’t even try to connect with people on a deeper level because you’re empty and you hate it, because you know once they get to know you they’ll find nothing from the inside”
He did strike a sensitive nerve, and hit a sensitive spot in you, using your trauma against you is a terrible thing to do, such a cowardice. It’s like voicing his own trauma but using it to insult you.
“You don’t have any right to say this, you don’t even know me!”
“And you don’t have any right to call me a cheater, you don’t even know me!”
“All I know is that you’re broken, alone and desperate…hiding behind power but the night exposes you, you nightmares humble you-”
“If you say any other word, you’ll regret it Y/N”
“Yeah threaten me all you like, I’m going to die anyway” you said the last sentence as a whisper but he heard it.
It pissed him off, how you caught all vulnerable, he hated to admit how his nightmares scared him, how they haunted him for years but you simply used them against him. He took a step closer to you,
“I pity you Y/n, you dare to speak nonsense because your entire life is nonsense itself.. Yeah that must be hard for you, being ignored by your parents and family, of course you’d grow up to become a disappointment, a failure. You failed your family and now you’re failing everyone around you in Jujutsu high..” he spoke,
His words like daggers that were thrown directly at your chest, you wanted to fight him back but deep down you knew every word he said was true. Your family didn’t even call to check up on you since the day you got married, as if you were a burden and finally got rid of it. They didn’t even believe that your curse would break, they had a bit of hope that Gojo would do something but definitely not you.
You stared at him, with a smile that hid your sadness , you grabbed your jacket, and left. Closing the door behind you. He didn’t mean any word he said, he was just driven by jealousy, and you saying that him and Mei Mei didn’t bother you drove him crazy, making him think that you don’t have any feelings towards him and that you want Nanami instead.
*Timeskip to the morning*
As the morning light filtered through the big window, casting a warm glow over the breakfast table, Gojo took his seat, ignoring Mei Mei who was trying hard to get his attention. As the minutes ticked by, your absence became increasingly conspicuous, concerned whispers filled the room.
“Where’s your wife?” asked principal Yaga
Satoru’s brow furrowed in confusion,
“I thought she was here…maybe she’s in the bathroom or something” he replied, shoving food inside his mouth.
“I was in the bathroom, and she wasn’t there” said Maki
A sense of panic rippled through the group, Nanami quickly stood up from his chair and started searching in the whole school, but you were nowhere to be found. Followed by your students, principal Yaga and now Gojo whose heart started pounding as he looked for you everywhere. Only Mei Mei calmly sitting still, enjoying her food.
Once again gathered in the common room, after their failed attempt to find you, they called you multiple times but failed to reach you.
“Did something happened between you two?” asked Principal Yaga, his voice cutting through the chaos.
Satoru swallowed hard, the weight of his guilt settling heavily upon his shoulders,
“We-we had an argument last night….” He admitted “she left the room and I thought she was just going to the balcony or something…I didn’t realize she had left”
“SHE WAS YOUR FUCKING RESPONSIBILTY SATORU!!” yelled Yaga sensei
“Sensei I truly didn’t know!”
“You know that there’s a murderer on the loose that’s targeting her and you didn’t care ..”
“Wait what?” asked the students in union since they didn’t know about Toji’s plan to murder you.
“Instead of protecting her what the fuck where you doing?” asker principal Yaga once again
“He was with me!” said Mei Mei taking the last bite of her toast “Gojo was with me” she repeated
“If you dare to throw any other lie Mei Mei I swear to God I’ll kill you” threatened Gojo walking towards her but Nanami stopped him.
“Don’t blame others for your own mistakes Gojo “ she said offensively
As they were fighting, trying to have a plan on how to find you, Gojo received a text on his phone, that got his eyes widen in fear,
[Gojo Satoru, I wanted to inform you that your wife is with me, I don’t think you care that much , but so you can save yourself and energy from the hassle of searching that the higher ups would put you through – Toji Fushiguro]

birthday
dealer! chris x reader
warnings: cursing, it’s kinda short
a/n: HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY @fuckhim-fuckher-fuckyou
“chris! where are you taking me?” i asked, laughing.
his long fingers covered my eyes, leaving me to see nothing but darkness.
“you’ll see, baby” he spoke as his free hand found the small of my back, helping to guide me through my home.
when i first woke up this morning, chris seemed hellbent on getting me out of the house.
he asked me to pick up very specific items from the store, giving me a long list of things to shop for.
i tried not to take it personal, but it was hard not to when it felt like he was trying to get rid of me.
as soon as i got back, he had rushed to help me out of the car, covering my eyes eagerly.
once i realized that he had a surprise planned, i instantly perked up.
he took the bags from my hands, placing them down in the kitchen, before continuing to walk me through the house.
when we got to my bedroom, he removed his hands.
Tumblr media
my eyes widened in surprise as i took everything in.
“chris, what the fuck? how did you do this? when did you get the balloons? how did you hide them? what-?” i asked in shock.
“don’t worry about that, ma. happy birthday” he said as he wrapped his arms around my waist from behind.
“chris, you really didn’t have to do this” i spoke as i felt tears begin to prick at the corners of my eyes.
“i know, but i wanted to. you deserve it” he spoke into my neck.
i turned around to face him, holding his cheek in my hand.
“thank you” i whispered before placing my lips to his.
his hands ran up and down my waist as my lips moved against his slowly. his soft lips slid against mine perfectly, making me smile into the kiss.
after a little while, i pulled away for air. his lips chased after mine immediately, leaving a light peck to them.
i let out a sigh of content, and walked over to the bed, grabbing the box of chocolates.
“want one?” i asked as i opened them.
he nodded his head with a grin, making me laugh at his eagerness.
i unwrapped the gold foil before placing the chocolate in his mouth, then doing the same for myself.
“does this mean i bought all of that food for nothing?” i asked, remembering the groceries that we left in the kitchen.
“nope, we’re gonna bake stuff” he said. “i was gonna make you a bunch of stuff, but i’m terrible at it. so, i figured we could do it together”
“you’re too sweet, chris. i love you”
“i love you too ma. and i love seeing you happy” he said, pressing a kiss to my forehead.
“damn, i’ve turned you into a huge softie” i said, thinking about how different things were when i first started buying from him.
“yeah, just don’t tell anyone. you’re the only person who gets to see it”
“that’s fine by me” i said as i cuddled into his side.

The loud music that once blared through every hall of Tannyhill mellowed into a slight hum and tune as people cleared out from the house. Scattered red solo cups, beer cans, confetti, and small grains of sand decorated the floor in an orchestrated mess. Walking your way through the trashed house, you try and find Sarah. A small part of you hoped she wasn’t blackout drunk, knowing the pain and the struggle it is to carry her up to her bed from her previous recklessness and ignorance of how much liquor she could hold.
You passed by a few people who were too hammered to realize the party was over and a few maids who diligently started cleaning up the mess left. Smiling at them appreciatively, you made your way to the backyard, where you found a very drunk Sarah Cameron bent down and talking to what seemed like the head of a broken garden gnome.
“I'm sorry.. Charlie. I will fix you. I promise…I swear. I-I will find out who did this to you,” she slurred as she placed the cracked head on its neck, trying to make it stay. A giggle left your lips as she babbled the broken ceramic empty promises. The sight was too funny for you not to take your phone and take a picture of her. Shaking your head, you walked over to her and bent beside her.
“Sarah, I think it’s time to leave Charlie and go to bed. You’re drunk, and I’m pretty sure you’re going to pass out drunk in your backyard any moment,” you spoke to her, trying to distract the blonde from the broken gnome. She turned and looked at you, her brown eyes glossed over and brimming with tears. God, you were not drunk enough to deal with this.
“But I can’t. He’s broken, and h-he needs to be fixed,” she pleaded like a small child whose balloon had just popped.
“He will be fixed. I will fix him, okay?” you said as you slowly grabbed her arm to get her to stand up. She got up, stumbling a bit, as you guided her back inside the house, her incoherent babbling filling the once-quiet house. After a rather tedious task of making it safely up the stairs, you walked her to her room and tucked her in, placing a trash can next to her and a bottle of water.
She called out your name, making you hum in acknowledgment from the bathroom as you looked for a bottle of painkillers.
“You promise to fix Charlie?” she mumbled, voice laced with slumber.
“Yes, I do. Now sleep. We’re gonna go get breakfast in the morning, okay?” you said, walking back and placing a bottle of Tylenol on her bedstand. Hearing a lack of response, you looked at her and found her fast asleep. You made sure she had everything she needed before going to the bathroom.
You sigh tiredly as you grab the spare pjs you kept in her cupboard due to the frequent sleeping over and changed your clothes. Tying your hair back, you dug in your bag for your lighter and carton of cigarettes; stowing them in your pocket, you walked out of the bathroom and headed to the window that let you out to the roof. After some struggle, you opened the window and carefully crawled onto the roof, sitting comfortably, taking out your cigarette and lighting it. The hot smoke invaded your mouth and burned your throat as you took a drag. The familiarity of the bitter taste on your tongue as you blew out the smoke left a slight smile as you looked up at the cloudless night.
The black blanket had a few dispersed stars that glowed in the moonless sky, mimicking the fireflies down near the grass. A cool breeze wrapped around you as you smoked in solitude, floating freely in your realm of thoughts, and your brain racked with all the memories of the party that evening. Lost in your thoughts, you didn't notice the head that popped out of the window and saw your silhouette against the dark sky. However, that presence was soon made known through a rough grunt, which startled you out of your trance to look at the now-emerging figure of Rafe crawling out of the window. He sat down with a huff and rubbed his head, wincing lightly. A smile broke out on our faces as you brought the cigarette to your lips and inhaled the dizzying gas.
“Thought you left with Barry; I didn’t see you around the house,” you said as you blew out a thin ribbon of smoke that floated lazily around you. “I was on my way to go, but I found you on my roof,” he spoke, digging into his pocket to grab his cigarette and light it, the flame of the lighter illuminating his sharp features. “And I don't trust you or Sarah enough to leave you in the house after drinking your weight in margaritas,” he added as he blew out the smoke that invaded his mouth.
“Hey, I can hold my liquor. Sarah can’t” you defended yourself taking a drag. “If anything, I don't trust you around me after your little coke business,” you retorted, laughing out the smoke.
“Oh, really now? Keep those same words when you ask for a discount next time you want a line,”  he remarked, smirking as he brought his lips to the filter, hollowing his cheeks and inhaling the hot smoke. Your eyes lingered on his lips a second too long as you reluctantly looked out over the glittering lake.
“I’ll have you know that you just lost a very loyal customer,” you gasped lightly, placing your unoccupied hand on your chest as you feigned hurt.
Rafe raised an eyebrow and looked at you with a smirk, taking a long drag on his cigarette. "Okay, and what are you going to do? Go ask Barracuda Mike instead?" he asked, making a joking grimace. You both chuckle, remembering Barracuda Mike and the shitty, cut-with-baby-powder products he sold.
"I mean...I can if I want to," you teased back, knowing damn well Rafe had a point. You couldn't get your drugs from anywhere else unless you wanted to be dealing with a bunch of random dealers.
Rafe chuckled, taking another drag of his cigarette.
“I know you can, but I also know you won't.” He said, eyeing you playfully. Rafe was always great at reading you.
“Fine,” you said, rolling your eyes. "I'll stick with you, but only because I have to get my fix somehow.”
“That's what I thought,” Rafe replied, taking another drag of his cigarette. You both sat silently on the roof, smoking and watching the stars.
"So cocky," you mutter back as you take a long drag on your cigarette. The warm tobacco fills your throat, and the dizzying nicotine sends your head spinning. You look out over the water at the sparkling lights of distant boats that signal the liveliness of the summer night. The nights that both keep you up at night and give you a sense of comfort.
The silence between you and Rafe is deafening. You've known him for years, yet it never got easier to speak to him when you were alone together. How you guys acted when you were around people was nothing like how you were alone. It was like you were different versions of yourselves almost. Rafe takes another drag of his cigarette, the ember illuminating the sharp features of his face. You've always thought he was handsome, but you've never let yourself dwell on those thoughts.
You two sit there, smoking cigarettes and staring at the sparkling lake together.
“You know, I like you the most out of Sarah’s friends.” He said, breaking the silence.
You look over at him, coughing out the smoke you inhaled, surprised by the sudden statement. "wha..." you mumble, unsure of what to say. It takes you a moment to process his words, because the truth is that you've always had feelings for him, even though you never admitted it to anyone - even yourself. So this sudden revelation was not helping your case. Suddenly, you feel an intense heat wash over your body, and you're not sure if it's from the cigarette or embarrassment. "Thanks?" you ask, your voice shaky as you try to gain your composure.
"I mean it," Rafe says, looking at you intently. You can't tell if he's serious or not, since he has a habit of teasing you sometimes. But that compliment felt different than the other times he'd teased you. Was he saying what he meant? Before you can ask him or respond in any way, he takes a long drag of his cigarette and then blows the smoke out in a cloud in front of him. "You're the only one out of her friends that actually cares for her. And she seems to be less of a bitch with you around, so.."
"She's not a-," you start to say, quickly cutting yourself off at the end. It's no secret that Sarah can be difficult to deal with sometimes, and you tend to take care of her when you go out together.  You can't help but feel your cheeks warm as you realize he's being serious for once. You try to play it off like it's not a big deal, but deep down, you know you're starting to get flustered by his words. "Oh, so you think I'm a good influence, huh?" you ask, sounding playful and taking a drag. In reality, you're not sure what to say. Rafe always surprises you when he acts like this, making you wonder if there might be hope for more than friendship between you two.
Rafe chuckles at your response and takes another drag of his cigarette. "I mean, putting aside doing drugs and all, yeah, in comparison to her other friends, you are," he says with a sly grin. "And I meant what I said earlier - you're the only one who cares for her. I see how you sometimes look out for her when I'm around. It's kinda nice. And you're always there for her, even when she's being...well, a total bitch."
As you blow out the smoke, you can't help but feel your cheeks heat up. As he continues, a slight flush creeps up to your ears. He notices this and smirks, taking another drag of his cigarette. You can't help but feel your heart race as the conversation continues, and you can't help but notice how handsome he looks in the moonlight. The way the light plays off his features is almost mesmerizing.
"I guess so," you whisper, sounding casual even though your voice is slightly shaky. You tap the cigarette to let the white ashes float down from the burning end.
“What? You sound so conflicted and confused,” he laughs as he crushes the butt of the cigarette into the roof tiles and looked at you.
"Nothing," you mumble, looking at him and smiling before using the last bit of cigarette. You do the same as rafe and extinguish it; you bring your knees to your chest and hug them. "It’s just…it’s odd to see you so relaxed and all." You pause momentarily, feeling his gaze on you as the silence settles. It feels intense but not uncomfortable. Just awkward. “It's new. I like it,” you continued, your voice small and whispering, almost as if you were talking to yourself.
The silence lingered for a few seconds more as if Rafe was also trying to gather his thoughts. You could tell he was a bit flustered as well, but it was different from yours. His words carried a weight that couldn’t be missed, and there was an intensity to his gaze that couldn’t be ignored.
“I'm not always a dick,” he said, chuckling dryly as he looked at you; his face wore an expression you couldn't deduce.
“I didn’t say you were; it’s just you’re a little more heated most of the time with whatever you’re dealing with,” you said, trying to explain yourself. You looked away momentarily before slowly turning back to him. To your surprise, his gaze was still on you, and it felt like he was staring into all the secrets you held deep within.
“Yeah, well, there’s a lot to deal with sometimes….especially with my family,” he said, looking away for a second. You could tell that he wasn’t comfortable talking about his own emotions, and you knew better than to probe.
“I know,” you muttered, scooting a little closer to him. “I know you just care about your family and want to take care of them, and I know that Rose, Ward, Sarah, and Wheezie all appreciate it.”
"Thanks,” he responded, putting his head in his hands and rubbing his eyes. "It’s just…it’s not the easiest thing to do."
You nodded, understanding what he meant. Taking care of a family as large and seemingly dysfunctional as Cameron’s was never easy, but you respected the responsibility Rafe carried on his shoulders.
“And I don't think anyone else can do a better job,” you say softly with a small smile as his beautiful eyes meet yours.
His gaze flicks back to you, and you can feel the tension in the air. A slight rumble of thunder echoes in the air, but neither of you pays any mind to it right away.
Rafe looked away from you, focusing on the distant, sprawling scenery before you. You could feel the intensity of his eyes on you, but he didn’t say anything. A comfortable silence fell between you two as you sat side by side, looking up at the stars and listening to the crickets as the summer evening stretched before you. Suddenly, Rafe’s expression shifted slightly as he looked back at you.
“Can I ask you a question?” he said quietly, breaking the silence.
You could only nod as you wondered where he was going with this. Did he want to change the subject? Had you said something wrong?
“Are you gonna tell Sarah you had to find her in the backyard talking to a broken garden gnome?”
You laughed at his question. It was reasonable, considering the situation. Rafe chuckled and nodded his head at your response.
“You saw that?” you said, laughing as you recollected the memory of drunken Sarah. “Oh definitely, it's such good blackmail material,” you giggled; Rafe couldn’t keep his eyes off you. Maybe it was the buzz of the alcohol and drugs that made him see a halo of soft light around you, or perhaps it was the way you captivated his heart and mind since you started spending more time at Tannyhill. Whatever it was made him feel a slight burn of yearning in his chest as he took in your appearance; your hair was tied up messily, and small remnants of glitter and eyeliner glistened on your cheeks and eyes as they caught the light. And that smile you had upon your face made him feel so warm—what he would do to keep that smile on your face.
Reluctantly, Rafe pulled himself back from the cloud of admiration he got lost in and ran his hands through his hair. He laughed in response, shaking his head at how the scenario had unfolded. “I can only imagine how that conversation will go…”
You giggle lightly and before you could  reply to to him again a low thunder rumbling sounded again, indicating more rain to come but once again ignored by the buzz of the chemistry that filled the open air.
As you sat on the roof, the rain began to fall in a light drizzle. Neither of you wanted to go back inside and leave the tranquility of the night air, but the threat of a heavier shower made you feel like you should.
"We should probably go in soon,” he said, as your jokes and laughter seemed to lighten the tension in the air.
“You’re right,” you muttered, feeling the cool rain drop on your skin. "We shouldn’t push our luck.”
You looked around, feeling the dizzying buzz of the alcohol mixed with the nicotine from the cigarettes. Rafe stood up, his gaze still on yours.
You looked up at him as he outstretched his hand, which you took gratefully smiling appreciatively as he pulled you up onto to your feet.
“Thanks,” you said softly as you looked at him. He didn’t drop your hand; his warm calloused hand covered yours entirely.
“You’re welcome,” he whispered, his tone hushed as the soft rain fell around them. His gaze remained on yours, his breath quickening as he took in your intoxicating presence.
The two of you carefully walked towards the window back, carefully avoiding the puddles of rainwater that had started to make the roof tiles slippery. The rain had begun to pick up in intensity, the quiet pitter-patter of the droplets turning into a loud pounding sound as they hit the roof.
He went inside the first and helped you inside. As you entered the house, you felt the rush of humidity hit your face. Rafe closed the window behind the two of you, blocking the sound of the rain and the sight of the summer showers. You could feel the heat of his body as he let go of your hand, leaving you standing on your own.
As you stood there, feeling the warmth of the house enveloping you, you couldn't help but notice the way Rafe's eyes lingered on you. There was an intensity in his gaze that sent a shiver down your spine, and you found yourself unable to look away.
As you stood in the warmth of the house, the residual chill from the rain still clinging to your skin, you couldn't help but feel a slight flutter in your chest. The electricity in the air was palpable, and the tension between you and Rafe seemed to crackle with anticipation. You tried to brush it off, attributing it to the intoxication of the night and the rush of adrenaline from being caught in the rain, but deep down, you couldn't deny the growing attraction you felt towards him.
Rafe, too, seemed to be affected by the charged atmosphere. His eyes lingered on yours, his gaze intense yet soft, as if silently communicating a thousand words. You felt a heat rise to your cheeks under his scrutiny, and you couldn't help but fidget nervously under his gaze.
"So, uh... that was quite the adventure, huh?" you quipped, breaking the silence as you attempted to lighten the mood with a playful remark.
Rafe chuckled softly, a crooked smile playing on his lips as he nodded in agreement. "Yeah, definitely wasn't expecting a rooftop rendezvous in the rain tonight."
You laughed, the sound ringing through the air as you shook your head in amusement. "Well, you know me, always up for a little spontaneous adventure."
"Clearly," he replied, a teasing glint in his eyes as he took a step closer to you. "Although, I think we might need to work on your timing. Getting caught in a downpour wasn't exactly part of the plan."
You rolled your eyes playfully, nudging him with your elbow as you shot him a mock glare. "Hey, I'll have you know that I'm an expert at improvisation."
Rafe grinned, his gaze softening as he looked at you. "I have no doubt about that."
The air between you seemed to crackle with tension as the moment stretched on, neither of you willing to break the spell that had enveloped you. You could feel the heat of his body radiating towards you, his proximity sending a shiver down your spine.
And then, without warning, Rafe reached out and gently cupped your cheek, his touch feather-light against your skin. Your breath caught in your throat at the sudden intimacy, your heart pounding wildly in your chest as you met his gaze, your eyes locked in a silent exchange of longing and desire.
"Hey," he murmured softly, his voice barely above a whisper as he leaned in closer, his lips hovering dangerously close to yours. "You know, for someone who claims to be an expert at improvisation, you sure seem caught off guard right now."
As he leaned in closer, his gaze intense and unwavering, you felt your heart skip a beat in anticipation. The air around you seemed to crackle with tension as his lips drew nearer to yours, a silent invitation hanging between you. Before you could formulate a response, his lips met yours in a gentle yet electrifying kiss. It was as if the entire world had faded away, leaving only the two of you suspended in a moment of pure bliss. It was like a spark had been lit between you, a profound connection that left you breathless and wanting more. Remnants of smoke and alcohol could be tasted on his lips, but you wouldn’t want it any other way.
At that moment, as the rain continued to fall outside and the soft glow of the house enveloped you, you couldn't help but feel like everything was falling into place. Lost in the moment, you melted into his embrace, your fingers tangling in his hair as you kissed him back with equal fervor. All you could think about was how right it felt to be in Rafe's arms, lost in the warmth of his embrace and the sweetness of his kiss. You knew deep down that this was exactly where you were meant to be.

It's April in Jorvik - ( sabine x reader ) Chapter 1
hi! I plan to crosspost this fanfic to AO3 as soon as I get my invite :')
( cw: swearing. )
It’s April in Jorvik.
The snow is off the ground, the grass is green, and the Equestrian Festival is finishing its preparations.
And as for you, you were truly excited for it, but now you’re stuck running errands for your fellow Soul Riders… again.
You thought last year was ridiculous dealing with Alex and Linda’s last minute tasks, but this year was even worse. Both Anne and Lisa were tagging along this year which has added on to your own preparations for the festival. As much as you’re usually happy to help, you can’t help but curse to yourself this time for being so willingly. Stupid Soul Rider nonsense. All you wanted to do was practice and prepare your horses for the events you were set to participate in. But no, you’re were dealing with setting up another booth for the girls, helping Lisa gather her tack and outfits, and attempting to prevent Concorde from spooking at everything. Thankfully, everything other than Concorde has been dealt with, but now you’re losing light and you’re walking your horse next to Anne while she hand walks Concorde.
This reincarnation of Concorde is, respectfully, a major pain in the ass. She still isn’t able to talk just yet, even after being aged by Vala, so it makes every situation worse because she can’t even tell you what her problem is. You were riding your starbreed, who is just about as fed up as you with everything. Unfortunately, for your horse, he was the best option for putting up with Concorde’s bullshit. The gelding pinned his ears at every out of line movement by Concorde. If she got too close he nipped at her, putting her back in line. By this point, you’ve figured out that she hates the balloons, so you were doing slow laps around the arena to get her accustomed to them.
After your tenth lap Concorde finally calmed down enough to walk without trying to break free from Anne’s grasp.
“ Anne, it's like 8pm. I think she’s about as desensitized to everything as she’s gonna get .” You give a gentle tug on your horse's reins and his ears pricked back up as he stopped. Anne looked at you and looked back to her horse, defeated. You hop off your gelding and give his neck a good pat.
“ She’s as good as she’s going to get. ” Anne reiterates your sentiment with a sigh.
“ Can we please get back to the stables? Between everything I’ve done today, I haven’t had time to see my other horses that I might be riding tomorrow. ”
Anne nods. “ I have to deal with cleaning up Concorde anyways. She isn’t anywhere where she needs to be if she’s possibly going to be performing tomorrow. ” The grey mare pinned her ears back at her and snorted in annoyance at the notion she isn’t up to par. Does it make sense to clean a grey horse the night before a competition..? Who knows, but you aren’t gonna rain on her parade. However, Concorde’s a priss so maybe she’d stay clean. The two of you start your walk back over to the stables and trailers. You don’t bother to grab your starbreed’s reins, he follows you along like a dog. Besides, you’re too focused on making sure Concorde doesn’t try to pull a fast one on the two of you.
“ Where are you stalling her? Are you bringing her back to your home stable or are you staying here for the night? ”
“ I could not imagine leaving her here. ” Anne practically scoffed at you. “ We are going back home. I won’t lie, I truly don’t know how I’d fit all of my outfits and whatnot into a suitcase. Also, where on earth would I get ready? ”
“ I’m staying at the inn? A lot of the people who are competing are staying at the inn? ” You give her a look. Anne returned the look and rolled her eyes.
“ Yeah, not happening. I’ll just deal with waking up earlier tomorrow. “ You shrug at her and the two of you finish your walk to the stable and part ways. Your horse audibly breathed a sigh of relief when Concorde was out of sight. You chuckled at him and gave him a pat on the shoulder.
“ Yeah, I know. That was awful. But, hey, you were great, boy. ” You gave him a rub on the forehead. “ Let’s get that tack off of you, you deserve some rest. ” You led him to his stall and untacked him, leaving his tack on the stand next to his stall door.
As you walked out the stall he tried to follow behind, but was stopped by you closing his door. He bobbed his head and snorted at you in protest.
“ I didn’t forget bud, I promise. ” You rummage through the bag you brought and grab your bucket of Stud Muffins. The starbreed eagerly, but politely, snatched the treat from your hand, satisfied.
You turn to the next couple of stalls and see the two other horses you brought with you. You were set to compete in a few categories in the following days and decided to use some of your other horses to give them some time away from the stables.
Your starbreed was going to be your horse for the cross country section. That honestly should be a given from the amount of nonsense the two of you have gotten yourself into throughout all of Jorvik.
You brought an 11 year-old Belgian Warmblood gelding for show jumping. Thunder is black with a small snip on his nose and he towers over you at a good 16.9 hands. He’s been with you for a while now and has proved to be a fantastic performer.
Finally, you brought your new 6 year-old Andalusian mare for dressage. Daybreak is a gorgeous dapple grey mare, you are still in awe that you managed to snag her. In all honesty, you aren’t too serious about the dressage portion, but you thought it’d be a good experience just to test out your new mare in the ring. However, you know that she’d be fantastic no matter the rider.
You give the two of them their own Stud Muffins and give them both a scratch for good measure.
You were in your own world when suddenly two tall shadows nearly made you jump out of your skin. At the entrance of the stable a tall woman walks in leading a large black Fresian through the door. It doesn’t take you long to realize who it was.
Sabine.
Of course. Why wouldn’t she be here? She was the last two years. You briefly recall the events that transpired between the two of you last April and the one before.
You stay silent and try to finish up your chores for the night, grabbing a bucket for your horses grain. Khaan's steps thundering through the otherwise silent barn.
Annnnnnd of course she has Khaan stalled right next to your overly friendly gelding, Thunder. You mentally groan and try to not let your embarrassment show. The black gelding immediately tries to make friends with Khaan through the bars separating their stalls. The larger stallion pins his ears back at the attention, but doesn’t truly react until Sabine exits the stall. The moment she closes the stall door, the Fresian emits the lowest squeal you’ve ever heard from a horse and he kicks at the wall separating them. Thunder backs off and goes to seek attention from Sabine. She ignores his attempts and flings Khaan’s lead rope over her shoulder.
Sabine glares in your direction before turning to a bag sat next to Khaan’s stall door, pulling out a hoof pick and returning inside Khaan’s stall. Hm, bold after your horse just raised hell.
“ Wouldn’t have taken you as a person with more than one horse. ” She commented as she began to work on Khaan’s hooves, not bothering to make eye contact with you. “ Thought a Soul Rider would be too loyal to even think about it. ”
You try and fail miserably to stop yourself from chuckling which earns you another glare and scowl in your direction when she puts Khaan’s hoof down.
“ And I wouldn’t take the Dark Rider as one that would stall their horse in a public stable. ” You shoot back at her sarcastically, but lightheartedly. “ But I guess, no one else really knows that you’re a Dark Rider here. So, what difference does it make? ”  You say as you dump grain into Thunder’s feed bucket, which makes him entirely forget about Sabine and Khaan.
“ You should see my home stable. It’d make your head spin if you think me having two other horses is more than you expected. ” You make your way back to your bag of grain, making Daybreak’s dinner. Sabine gave an audible huff as she finished up her work on her horse’s feet. She exited the stall again and threw the pick down in her bag.
“ I don’t think it’s really any of your business why I have Khaan stalled here. Why don’t you just focus on your horses and I’ll deal with mine.” Ah there you go, that’s the Sabine you remember.
“Hey, you spoke first.” You dump the grain into your mare’s bucket. The two of you go to your work in awkward silence. You weren’t really sure why you were comfortable being alone with her, or moreso, why you didn't feel threatened by her presence. However, your starbreed wasn’t too happy about her being so close to you. You could feel him grow uneasy as you heard him pace and paw at the ground. Maybe you were too tired to really acknowledge the amount of danger you could be in? However, she didn’t seem too intimidating right now. If anything, she was a bit underwhelming for what you’d expect.
You finish up your tasks with your horses and hang your feed bucket up. Looking over to Sabine you see that she’s fiddling with something in her bag.
“ If you get bored again, I’m always up for a chase around Jarlaheim between competitions. ” You said picking up your bag. “ I could always use the warmup for my horses. ” Sabine stops what she was doing and cocks an eyebrow at you.
“ And willingly give you what you'd consider an advantage? That’s the stupidest shit I think I ever heard you say Soul Rider. ” She practically chuckles at you, dumbfounded by your words.
“ Thought you’d enjoy the chance to kick my ass and leave me in the dirt. You know, like the last two years. ” You shrugged. “ Whatever. If you change your mind I’ll be around. ” You walk off and make your way back to the inn to call it a night, not waiting for her response.
That was fucking stupid.

It’s Always Been You
Tumblr media
Based on this request
Pairing: Billy Hargrove x Fem! Reader (you + Y/N)
Summary: You come home from college during holidays and to see your friends again. .Reconnecting with the core group that you connected with during the Upside Down trauma. Steve hosts a party for you and you get a little rowdy, Billy has always been there for you; this time something else happens.
TW: cursing and drinking. That’s about it. It’s pretty tame!
A/N: this is my work, I don’t give anyone permission to use it for anything or claim it as their own.
The sound of passing cars lulled you into an easy sleep as you got comfortable in the bus seat. Two more hours and you’d be back in Hawkins with your best friends. The only good thing about that pimple of a city: Nancy, Robin, Steve, Eddie, Jonathan, a bunch of weird kids and of course…Billy. The thought of your high school crush made you smile, you two had stayed in touch when you left for school, but seeing him again was a different level of excitement. He’d joined Hawkins High during your junior year in high school and at first; you despised him. His cocky attitude and the amount of girlfriends he plowed through disgusted you. BUT, he came with Max who became close friends with your best friends brother, then all the Vecna craziness broke out and somehow you got roped into a tight knit friend group with Billy. The real change in your friendship happened after Starcourt.
Pulled from your thoughts, the bus stopped and you could hear yelling at the us stop. Groggily you looked out the window but pure happiness and excitement filled your body as you saw your friends outside with signs, yelling for you. Steve and Robin were making fools of themselves but you ran to them as soon as your feet hit the pavement. Comforting arms wrapped around you and you felt like you could finally relax.
“Welcome home!!!!” Steve grunted out as he squeezed you and moved back and forth. Robin hit your arm playfully.
“That’s for leaving us for your fancy school.” She smiled and hugged you. “This is for coming back to visit.”
Grabbing your bags from the bus, you quickly loaded into Steve’s car and the three of you talked and laughed all the way back to his house. His parents were on some European trip or something so he just had you stay with him. Upon opening the door to his house, you heard a resounding “SURPRISE!” as a smaller body smashed into you. Maxine, she’d ran to you and gave you a tight hug; soon followed by the rest of the kids and then your friends.
“I missed you guys too.” A chuckle escaped your lips as you tried to stay standing from the overwhelming amount of people around you.
“Jesus Christ! Let her put her shit down at least, you are gonna suffocate her.”
There it was. That beautiful voice, you tried to see him, but Some of the guys too tall and blocking your view. Suddenly, you felt someone slip your backpack off and move your bags out of your grip. Strong, tanned arms wrapped around your shoulders and a familiar chin rested on your head. Billy.
“Hello to you too Billy.” You blushed softly, trying to laugh off his nice way of getting everyone off of you. The smell of cigarettes and motor oil filled the air around you. His smile could be felt from the top of your head.
“Welcome back short stack.” He squeezed you gently, then after just a few moments too long, (or not long enough) he let you go and grabbed your bags.
“Harrington! I’m putting her in your parents room!”
He called out to Steve who was grabbing some stuff out of his trunk. Max still hadn’t left your side and she had a brightness to her blue eyes. There was a soft spot in you for her and you wrapped on arm around her shoulder.
“Been keeping everyone in line?” You asked. They’d all went back to setting up stuff like balloons and streamers.
“Of course.” She smiled back. “Come on, Billy and I are staying here and there are some things I want to show you in my room.” The younger red head pulled you away from everyone.
“What’s the big set up for?” You asked as you passed the kitchen with a boat load of food and beer.
“Steve’s throwing a party for you tonight.”
Great. You’d hope to get a little sleep, but your friends were a rowdy bunch. Nancy was known for getting a little too drunk a little too fast; but Jonathan usually kept an eye out for her. Steve, you and Robin usually became the parents as Billy would get hammered and Eddy would get blitzed. You weren’t thrilled at the idea that the kids were gonna be around but Max could sense the hesitation so she spoke up.
“Don’t worry. We’re all going over to Hoppers tonight. El said to say hi, she’s busy with her dad doing super power shit.”
That was good. You relaxed a bit more and followed Max to the guest room.
———
You’d managed to sneak away from everyone and finally you got to your room. It was wonderful to see everyone again, but the silence was needed to prepare for the party. Plopping down on the bed you exhaled and closed your eyes. There was a comfortable nature to Steve’s home, and you’d joked before about how he should open a home for wayward kids; since everyone always found a safe place with him. The thought of Max and Billy staying there too was nice, but it meant Neil was worse than ever. Billy had kept you updated on their lives but he never spoke about Neil unless it was really bad. Last time Billy wrote to you (Which he would never admit to writing you letters, but he did every month) he mentioned moving out and getting his own place…maybe Steve’s place was just a temporary set up.
“You look like shit.”
Opening your eyes you smiled to find baby blue eyes staring down at you. He was being playful, but you still sat up and tried to adjust your hair and outfit.
“I was on a bus for hours, how did you think I was going to look?”
He sat next to you and pulled you back down so you both were laying down. The blush on your cheeks only heated up.
“It’s good to have you back. I can’t stand these idiots.” You laughed, nudging him softly.
“I’m just like those idiots.”
“Not even close.”
There was a comfortable silence that settled between you two. This was a side of Billy that only you got to see, the calm man that lie behind the troubled sea that was his heart. He’d worked on his anger and his friendships but you always saw past his facades.
“You doin’ okay? School and shit going good?” His arm was wrapped around your shoulder and you nuzzled your head into his chest. It was very intimate but you two had moments like this in the past; you both just never addressed it.
“Mmhmm. How’s the shop?” Billy had started work at the town auto shop, and from what she knew of it; he was doing great.
“Good. Finally got a place for Max and I. We’re just crashing here until its ready. It’s not much, a trailer in Eddie’s neighborhood… but it’s mine.”
You sat up and looked at him, a different feeling settling in the air.
“I’m so proud of you Billy.”
A beat passed, then there was a knock at your door.
“Y/N! Are you ready? People are starting to show up! Do you need help with anything?”
Nancy. God Bless her for checking on you because you were about to kiss Billy and you couldn’t ruin that friendship. He rolled his eyes and got up, almost ripping the door off.
“She’s all yours Wheeler.”
Nancy rolled her eyes but came in, as Billy walked out he looked back and winked at you.
————————
Hair done, outfit on and makeup finished. Looking in the mirror you checked to make sure the ripped Band Tee didn’t show too much off, because the black leather shorts were a little too short but Nancy insisted they looked good. She paraded you out into the party and there were A LOT of people. Some just cheering because they were drunk and didn’t care why the party was happening, just that it was. Others you actually knew and you caught up with them a little as drinks and shots were placed in your hand in a revolving order.
Billy was outside, you could hear the keg stand chants, Robin was on the couch with a girl named Vickie, Eddie and Jonathan were probably out getting high and Nancy was circulating. You were, put nicely, smashed. There was no reason to hold back, you weren’t driving, you were in a safe place and your friends were all around.
Standing on a table, with some outside help from a few guys, you yelled over the music.
“Thank yeeew all for comin! LEts PARTY!” Someone cranked up the music and you started dancing on the table, and the cheering got louder than the keg stand cheers. That got Billy’s attention.
He came in to find you, someone who wasn’t too keen on being the center of attention, on a table; dancing like no one was watching. At first he just chuckled and laughed, but the guys who had helped you up were a little too close for his liking. He inched closer, but the moment one of the guys put his hand on your leg, Billy moved. Pushing people out of the way, he got to the table and threw you over his shoulder.
“Awww boo!” You giggled as he carried you up to the room you were staying in.
“Billy!!!! I was having funnnn.” You playfully hit his back before he put you on the bed.
“Oooo kinky!” A giggle left your lips as you took another sip of the beer that didn’t leave your hand even through Billy manhandling you.
“Alright princess, you’ve had enough for tonight.” He took your beer and you pouted.
“Party poooper! This princess wants to keep going!” You reached out for the beer but he stopped you, and the two of you were very close.
“Hi handsOme.” A drunken smile bloomed on your face and the glaze over your eyes began to set in. Yep, totally drunk. Billy just laughed and shook his head, placing a soft kiss on your forehead.
“You’ll thank me tomorrow.” Again, there was something else that settled in the air, but this time you were more confident. Liquid courage and all that fun shit.
“I’m gonna kiss you.” You giggled and got closer. An expression you hadn’t seen crossed Billy’s face and you paused…oh no.
“Oh…oh no I fucked up. Shit!!!” You immediately pulled away and scooted your back against the headboard. Pulling your knees to your chest, you began to rock back and forth. Did you just screw up your best friendship? Did you read all the signs wrong? Was he going to hate you?
“Shit.” Billy groaned and stood up. “Y/N, I would love to kiss you, but not like this. Get some rest baby. We’ll talk tomorrow.”
Baby, that was a new one. You looked up at him worried, but he winked and you relaxed. The room was spinning, maybe rest was a good idea. The loud party didn’t even bother you. Dozing off quickly you didn’t even notice Billy lock the door for your safety on his way out.
————-
Getting hit by a semi carrying other semi’s felt ten thousand times better than the hangover that hit you in the morning. Groaning you pulled yourself into the bathroom, looking in the mirror you shuddered. You also looked like you got hit by a semi. Taking a deep breath you hopped into the shower and tried to wash off the night before.
A soft knock got your attention as you got out. Keeping just your towel on you tried to open the door only to realize it was locked. Unlocking it, you found Billy before you with breakfast.
“God Bless you.” You smiled and took the food. He was quiet, looking at you in a towel. Billy needed to compose himself before speaking, he didn’t expect you to open the door so… freely. What if it was someone who passed out in the living room? That thought pulled him into the room and he shut the door so no one else could see you.
“Here.”
He handed you some ibuprofen and you smiled.
“You are the best Billy. How did you did this every weekend??” Downing the pills with some water he watched you and just chuckled.
“Practice babe.”
That threw you for a little bit of a loop but it sounded familiar.
“What happened last night? I remember talking to Vanessa but it gets a little fuzzy after that.”
Billy grabbed a few poloriads Nancy took out of his back pocket. You went red in the face.
“I WAS TABLE DANCING??” Groaning, you sunk to the floor with your food, nibbling on pancakes as you looked through the photos.
“WHy did anyone let me get on Bruce’s shoulders??” Bruce was your class clown and he apparently piggy backed you around according to Nancy’s photos. Billy scoffed.
“I sure as shit didn’t. You don’t remember anything?” There was a vulnerability to his voice that made you look up at him curiously.
“Oh no, what did I do?”
He sat next to you, resting his head on the edge of the bed. It was obvious he was trying to decide if he should tell you or not.
“You almost kissed me.”
Deer in headlights, that was a good way to explain your expression. Burying your face in your hands, the common symptom of puking while your hungover began to surface.
“Fuck I’m so sorry Billy. I don’t get drunk I didn’t know that’s what I would do. Shit, I’m really sorry.”
For some reason, you felt Billy relax next to you.
“So you don’t get drunk at school?” The image of you dancing on tables away from his protective gaze and you offering to kiss strangers had haunted him the whole night. Of course you could do whatever you wanted, the two of you were just friends, but he didn’t want that.
“Of course not, I don’t feel safe to drink that much at school. I don’t know people there like I do here. I don’t have you to keep me safe.”
You looked at the photo of him carrying you away, he always was there for you. Maybe it was because you helped save his life in Starcourt, or maybe it was because he truly cared about you.
“Why don’t you come back?”
His voice was quiet. That question hit you hard, and you rubbed your forehead.
“Billy it’s not that easy, with school and…”
“No, I know. It was a dumb question. I just…I don’t like you not being here. I need to make sure you’re okay. Phone calls and letters aren’t enough. I…get worried if you don’t answer the phone or if I miss a letter.”
This was a new Billy. He’d been open with you before but never like this. He wasn’t looking at you so you gently put a hand on his face and nudged it to look at you.
“Hey, I’m okay. All that is over with. It’s safe now. I’m okay.”
He closed his eyes and leaned into your touch. You two had playfully gotten close before but this was real and really intimate.
“Billy?”
He opened his eyes and looked at you, but it was for a split second before his lips were on yours. The kiss caught you off guard but after a moment, you returned it. Moving to straddle him you wrapped your arms around his neck while his hands settled on your hips. You lost time in his kiss and it was the safest you’d ever felt.
Finally the two of you separated, when he squeezed your hips softly. Any more and the two of you wouldn’t be able to stop.
“I’ve been wanting to do that for a long time.” He smirked as he rested his forehead on yours.
“Me too.”
“Come on, you need to eat…tell anyone about me being sappy and I’ll break up with you.”
He slightly joked.
“Oh so were dating now?”
You giggled and tried to get off of him, but he didn’t let you go just yet.
“Y/N, I’ve thought of you as my girlfriend ever since the summer before you left. You’re it baby. I don’t need anyone else.”
You kissed him softly, then got off of him.
“I’m yours Billy Hargrove.”
“Good.”
————————————-
The End!
Constructive criticism is welcome! DM’s are open! I hope this was to y’all’s liking! I got a little carried away sorry about that! I almost made it into two parts but I decided against it.

Hey, teacher! Part 8 (Catwin motorcycle au)
Thomas to the rescue x
"My God… is that your friend, Edwin?" Esther sneers, horrified.
"Oh yes," he acts casual. Like this isn't completely bizarre. "It appears he was able to make it after all." Edwin politely excuses himself, pointedly doesn't walk away at full speed like a man escaping a death sentence.
By the time he reaches Thomas on the street, at least 7 children have gathered around the shiny novelty of his bike, some of them are actually touching it. One child is gripping the handle bars and making 'vroom' noises. Thomas stands by, looking amused, answering their overlapping questions as best he can. When he notices Edwin, he smiles broadly, winking mischievously.
Edwin comes to a stop, lifts one eyebrow at him.
"I've come to rescue you, ghostie." Thomas announces, like its an obvious answer to a question Edwin didn’t pose. "This is real shit, isn't it? There isn't even any music. What kinda picnic is this?" Some of the children giggle at the curse word. "Also, babe, you’ve been here less than an hour and already you look fuckin' miserable." Edwin visibly deflates. He had been under the impression that he'd done a faily good job of hiding it. "Don't curse in front of the children." Is all he can think of. Right after, the realization that Thomas just called him babe comes barrelling through, and that is now all he can think of.
"Well, come on then." Thomas throws his leg over, sits back on the motorcycle, pats the seat behind him.
Edwin stares.
Thomas stares back.
Edwin’s mouth opens but it takes a second try to form the "What."
"Come on, we're going home. There’s wine in the kitchen, and I’m pretty sure I saw a real nice vintage record player in the living room."
"Thomas, I." Edwin shrugs helplessly, at a loss for words. "I can't just leave. And definitely not on that."
"Course you can leave. Come on, say goodbye to- oops, here she comes." Thomas, vagrant that he is, can't even bother to hide the absolute glee spreading over his face.
Heart in his throat, Edwin whirls around, sees Esther breezing towards them, a look of murder in her eyes. He braces himself, then deflates like a punctured balloon animal, with a slight wheeze he can’t quite smother behind a hand, when Thomas beats him to the punch, loudly. "Good afternoon! I remember you, tittering about yesterday, yeah? Never quite got your name, mine’s Thomas, Thomas King.”
"Charmed." Esther clips out, curt, glancing at Thomas’ outstretched hand with disdain.
"Pleasure's all mine, ma'am." Thomas quips, smoothly pulling his hand back, turning the motion into a tip of a hat that's not there, leans forward. "Say, you had a good look at her yesterday, I got her all cleaned up just earlier,” Thomas pats the bike’s seat, smiles wide, on the edge of too much so, "can I interest you in a ride around the block?" He pats the seat again, tilting his head just a bit to the side, towards her, making sure that Esther catches the challenge, the confidence in the invitation.
Esther almost reels, recoiling with disgust. "That's a very emphatic NO from me, Mr. King. Edwin, dear boy, do come back when you're,” she waves her hand in the air, gesturing in the vague direction of where Thomas is practically preening, perched on his shining bike, arms crossed, “done, with all this." Her message is clear. Get rid of him.  She stalks away, every muscle in her body so tense, Edwin is surprised she can walk at all. When he turns back to Thomas, he sees him offer a cheeky fingerwave at her retreating back.
When Edwin gives in to the urge to swat his arm, Thomas laughs and laughs, giggles like a child that's just pulled off a particularly dirty prank, looks just as faux-ashamed only when he fully refocuses on Edwin, and his wide-eyed stare at him. "You do realize, I'll pay for that later?" Edwin whispers from behind his clenched teeth.
"Ghostie. What's she gonna do? Come on, now's your chance. Hop on." He scoots forward, making room.
"I told you, I can't. I, I just-"
"Edwin." Thomas looks him right in the eye, expression serious. "Don't worry. It's just a picnic. It'll go on without you. Who cares about what Esther says anyway? Who cares about the people who would care about what an absolute witch like Esther says?"
The sound of his name coming out of Thomas's mouth is what calms him. Yet at the same time, his heart rate triples, he feels a surge of adrenaline. "I won't fall off?" He eyes the thin strip of seat behind the other man. It doesn't look at all secure. "Not if you hold on." Thomas starts the engine with a wink, and the nearby hovering cloud of children all exclaim in wonder at the noise, laughing, covering their ears. Some of their parents look decidedly displeased. Edwin takes a deep breath, wipes his sweaty palms on his overcoat, forces himself to throw a leg over the motorcycle, tucking up close to Thomas, an arm around his torso. "Sorry." he apologizes over the din of the engine, though he's not sure for what exactly. For touching him?
"S'alright, babe. Hold on, we're going to be making a quick exit. The wicked witch is decidedly not happy." Thomas pulls a pair of sunglasses out of his pocket, the motorcycle jerks forward, scaring Edwin half to death. He reflexively clings harder, pretending he didn't make a high-pitched yelp out of fear. He doesn't dare look back, to see people's reactions as the motorcycle roars away. He doesn't even want to entertain the thought of how Esther Finch is going to handle him running off without saying goodbye.
They've gone through two corners, when Edwin realizes he's still clinging to Thomas, perhaps a little too hard. He tries to loosen his grip, he really does, but every time the motorcycle makes the slightest motion underneath his legs, he's worried that their equilibrium will be shattered and he'll go spiraling to the pavement. Also, it's an easy excuse to hold him without any guilt. This was Thomas's idea, after all. Edwin is blameless for clinging. He presses the side of his face against the leather-clad back in front of him. The smell of leather is divine, and he can feel Thomas's ribcage expanding with each breath. It's nice. It's very nice. Edwin almost wishes he lived further away.
Thomas pulls to a stop, neatly, in the middle of the driveway. He cuts the engine, glancing over his shoulder with a grin. "See? World didn't end." Edwin releases his squid-like grip on that leather jacket, rather unsteadily dismounts the bike, trying to calm his quaking knees. "Actually, there were a few turns back there that almost proved you wrong." A bucket is placed against the garage door, probably used by Thomas when he cleaned his bike. Thomas laughs good naturedly when Edwin gives it a calculating stare, just for effect. Edwin can’t help but smile, a touch wry, marvelling just a bit inside, how easy he now falls into this, this kind of banter, teasing, with someone he didn’t even know 3 days ago.
He looks at the bike once more, and it occurs to him, again, that he has just ditched Esther at the church picnic, in front of essentially the entire town. Not only that, but he did it clinging to the back of a man on a motorcycle. Edwin needs a good, big glass of wine, and he needs it now. He pinches the bridge of his nose. "Alright, let's have a drink, before I spend any more time thinking about what I've just done."
Thomas slaps him on the shoulder with a smile, letting his hand drift to the small of Edwin’s back, and leads them both inside the house.

Some of us on the discord were discussing what Dewey would be like as an adult yesterday, prompting this little fic (1325 words) based on my hc that Dewey would become a stage actor
Dewey walks down the busy streets of New York, humming some vocal warmups. While he appears as calm and collected as he ever does, his mind is racing a mile a minute.
Today was his Broadway debut, and he was equal parts excited and nervous. He’d done many a show in the past but those were different. This was BROADWAY, the gold standard of theatre. Sure, this wasn’t a principal role or anything, he was just replacing a departing ensemble member, but still! A Broadway debut is a Broadway debut. It’s a big day, and he’s freaking out a little.
He rounds the corner of the theatre and opens the stage door, making a pit stop to check in for the day and readjust his bag. He nearly drops his coffee but manages to set it down to adjust his grip before continuing on to his dressing room.
He swings the door open and finds that Rico and Alex, the castmates who share the room with him had already arrived.
“Hey, guys!” Dewey says as he walks over to his designated area. He pauses suddenly before he can put his things down. “What’s all this?”
Surrounding his mirror were a pair of blue balloons, some confetti, and a handwritten banner on top that read “Congrats on your debut!”
Rico speaks up, “It’s your first show tonight, Dewey! If that isn’t cause for celebration I don’t know what is.” Alex nods in agreement.
“Aw, thanks guys,” Dewey smiles, clearing away some of the confetti to put down his bag.
“So how’re you feeling? Ready to show the world what you’re made of?” Alex asks.
“Yeah, I’m really excited, I’ve been dreaming about this for years,” he says, pulling out his notes to review once he finishes warming up.
He spends the next few minutes stretching, uncharacteristically quiet, before sighing and asking, “Guys, you’ve both done this for a while, so… how did you get over the nerves? It still feels insane that I’m even here, and I’m really worried that something’ll go wrong and ruin my chances of continuing here.”
Rico sighs, “I’m not gonna lie, that fear just takes time to get over. But trust me, you’re gonna do great tonight, and soon enough you won’t be so anxious anymore.”
The trio sit in silence for a moment before Alex pipes up, “Didn’t you mention that one of your brothers had a history with anxiety? Maybe he’ll have some advice for you.”
Dewey nods, then grabs his phone from his pocket, pulls up Huey’s contact, and starts a video call.
“Hey Dewey, what’s up?” Huey’s voice picks up through the phone speakers.
“Hi, Hubert. Did you guys just land or something?” Dewey asks, noticing Huey’s surroundings.
“Yeah, we just landed, oh… fifteen minutes ago? We just got to baggage claim- sorry, one sec,” he says, turning to talk to someone off-screen.
Suddenly Uncle Scrooge appears on screen. “Dewey, lad! Can- can ya see me- how does this thing- curse me kilts, what did Ah just-“ Scrooge says as he confusedly fiddles with the phone.
“Uncle Scrooge, I’ll hold the phone for you,” Huey interjects as he grabs his phone back and centers them both on screen.
“So why’d you want to talk to me, Dew?” Huey asks.
Dewey pauses for a moment to gather his thoughts before explaining. But he pauses a moment too long because more faces suddenly attempt to crowd into the view of Huey’s phone camera, all trying to greet him at once. Dewey snickers a little watching Uncle Donald, the last one to get back from claiming their baggage, trying to squeeze into view with little success.
“Hey guys,” Dewey says. “I love you all, but if I could maybe just talk to Huey for a second? I’ll see you guys tonight.”
Reluctantly the rest of the group backs out of frame, leaving once again only Huey.
Sighing amusedly, Huey asks, “Okay, so what did you want me for, Dew?”
“Okay, so, like, I was wondering, basically, like-,” Dewey pauses for a second. “How do you handle your anxiety? Cause I’m kinda freaking out a little right now.”
Huey thinks for a moment. “Well, different things work for different people, but whenever my nerves are getting to me I usually like to take some deep breaths, or you could do the 5-4-3-2-1 exercise, ummm… yeah, I’d say those are my go-to's. I’d also say that drinking coffee wouldn’t help with nerves at all but I don’t think you’d listen to that one, so…”
Dewey laughs, “Thanks, Huey.”
“Of course, Dew. And also remember, we’re all gonna be there cheering for yo-,” Huey gets cut off by a nearby thud, which he turns to look at.
“Uncle Donald’s suitcase just broke,” Huey explains, walking over to help. “You’re gonna do great tonight and we can’t wait to see you after the show! Break a leg!” Huey signs off.
“Bye Huey, see you guys later,” Dewey replies, ending the call.
“Man, it’s still so weird to me that the richest duck in the world is your uncle,” Alex says.
“I don’t know if that’s more surprising or the fact that he doesn’t have a private plane to get here on,” Rico adds.
“Well, we do have a plane but the pilot can’t make it out here until next week. Aaaaand I’m realizing how much of a spoiled rich kid I sound like right now,” Dewey starts laughing again.
“Nah, if you want a really spoiled rich kid that would be more of a… what’s his name? That creep who got all his money from his grandmeemawmaw or whatever?” Alex retorts.
“Doofus Drake?” Rico supplies.
“Yes, him!”
“Oh, you guys don’t even know the half of it,” Dewey exclaims, getting back into his stretching.
——————————————————————-
Dewey opens up the stage door to exit the building. It was dark out now. He was one of the earlier cast members out of the doors, so there was a pretty good-sized crowd greeting him. As he worms his way through them, some congratulate him for making his Broadway debut, and one woman even asks for a picture, which catches him slightly off guard.
Eventually, he makes his way past the main crowd where he is finally greeted by his family, who all promptly give him a bear hug.
“Dewey!!! That was amazing!” Webby exclaims once they all pull away.
“I knew you’d do great,” Huey concurs, grinning.
“Theatre has never been my thing, so believe me when I say that that absolutely blew me away,” Louie adds.
“I’m so proud of ye, lad,” Scrooge says. “Ye’ve done well for yerself.”
Uncle Donald, at a loss for words, smiles and gives him another bear hug.
Della then pries Donald off of him to give him her own hug.
“You boys never cease to make me proud,” she says as she lets him go.
“Aw, you guys,” Dewey says, laughing a little. “You’re gonna get me emotional.”
“We’ve all been emotional since you came on stage, it’s your turn now,” Huey jokes.
Dewey laughs, “Okay, that’s fair.”
“Not to interrupt a nice family moment, but would you guys like a picture?” Rico says suddenly from behind Dewey, startling him.
“Oh my god, Rico! You can’t scare me like that!”
Dewey recollects himself and turns back to face his family.
“Guys, this is Rico, one of my castmates. Fam, Rico, Rico, fam. And yeah, I think we’d like a picture.”
An obscene amount of pictures later, everyone has their phones back with significantly less storage space than before.
“Thanks, Rico!” Dewey calls out as his castmate departs.
“See you tomorrow,” he yells back.
“Well,” Della says. “I think it’s time for some celebration! What time were those reservations for, Uncle Scrooge?”
“… In ten minutes.”
“Oh. Well, let’s get going then!” She exclaims, prompting the group to hurry off to this restaurant, dragging a confused but happy Dewey along with them.

a/n: this is a repost of a previous work I did that I loved! well repost from my old account that got deleted but yeah! I have also re-edited it so it’s better to read. I found the previous one a little cringy but idk if its cringy🙃 hope you enjoy it though!
Tumblr media
A typical morning spent in your bed. perhaps, a little breakfast in bed because your parents were worried about your bruised eyes. Now, you must be wondering how you obtained this bruised eye?
[last week] It was any normal day at school and any normal day included physical education, or PE for short form. You didn’t particularly enjoy sports, you would rather be cooped up in your room for hours just watching some Netflix or Disney+, but of course, you couldn’t just escape from it since it was a required subject in high school.
“One point for us!” jake yells. Meet jake, the school’s soccer captain and one of the school’s heartthrobs. Right next to him was sunghoon and jay. Sunghoon was the second heartthrob of your school and he played basketball and badminton (on occasions). Finally there was jay, the third heartthrob and also a family friend.
Both of your families were close and you two have played around as kids before. Well i say kids but the only thing both of your parents did was let you play in the crib together and that’s about it. Growing up, the both of you never got to really talk to each other. Both were too shy to do so and plus...you liked to play alone. guess that’s where wanting to stay-in started from. Since then a natural distance came between both you and jay.
“Oh come on, are you really cheating jake?” Mia, your best friend, says.
“And what are you gonna do about it park mia?” jake yells. your dear best friend was also jay’s twin sister. the girl huffs.
“yah, park jongseong! would you care to smack the back of jake’s head?” and so jay does, he smacks the slightly younger boy. jake groans. Whatever Mia wanted, jay would comply because well...he wanted to be the great brother. Mia slings her arm around you.
“Don’t worry (name), jake isn’t going to bother us anymore.” she proudly says.
“WATCH OUT!” you turned around and a dodgeball comes flying onto your face. Your glasses flew across the room and you fell the ground, blacked out. Well at least Mia was right, jake didn’t bother you. rather a ball flew across and hit you.
[current time] Wasn’t a great thing honestly. Your mom popped her head at the door to check up on you. she brings in a plate of fruits for you.
“Here, eat this (name).” you sighed.
“Mom, it’s just a black eye. You’re acting as if i got hit by a car.”
“But sweetie, you’re injured.” she says.
“Mom, i’m fine.”
“Your glasses are broken too, we should get you a new pair.” she points over at your glasses that had shattered on impact.
“can i buy some contact lenses?”
2 years passed by, it was finally the last year of high school. Your class gathered in the classroom to surprise your form teacher, a small gesture to say ‘hey you survived teaching us for 4-5 years of your life. Hope you live well and we will see each other when we do’.
You were in your graduation gown, putting up the balloons. You felt the table shake but you knew you were great at balancing, well you thought before you fell into jay’s arms. Your eyes widened. You quickly got off jay and apologised. Mia smirks, she pulls you away from her twin brother.
“I saw what happened~so you and jay huh.”
you shoved her shoulder, “i don’t like your brother like that. besides, we are strictly just family friends.”
“oh shush, did you know our parents have this bet that you and jay would start dating?” she excitedly says.
“Whatever Mia. I have to go and grab the cake from the front gate, text me when Mr.Smith arrives alright?” Mia nods. While you went out though, Mia walks over to jay.
“Go with (name) now.”
“But-”
“Go and get the girl you’ve been crushing on since we were kids.”
“I don’t have a crush on her.” mia rolls her eyes.
“yeah sure. It’s like saying i don’t have a crush on jake.” mia deadpans.
“You have a crush on jake?” jay tilts his head.
“huh? what? I didn’t hear you.” jay rolls his eyes.
“I will tell mom on you.”
“We aren’t five anymore jay. Just go with (name) and be confident. I’m sure she likes you too!”
“Fine.” jay goes over to where you were. You thanked the person who delivered the cake and went back. Jay walks over to you.
“why are you here?” you say. Jay shrugs and then silence follows after. both you and jay went back to the classroom. where they graduation party really started.
That was the last time you saw the boy before college happened. It had been 3 years since you’ve last seen jay or even Mia. She went to a different department and so you couldn’t always meet up with her since she was extremely busy. It was just about towards the ending of exam season and so plenty of people started planning for parties.
You spot a familiar figure waving for you and so you walked over.
“It’s been too long (name)!” Mia gives you a tight squeeze.
“You’ve changed.” you say. your best friend looked so much more mature. she had made a decision to study business and so she dressed way more sophisticated.
“And so has jay.” she winks. You rolled your eyes.
“Are you seriously still trying to get me and jay together?”
“Has it worked?”
“No, we haven’t seen each other since the last party we held for our high school teacher.”
“What? But jay has to be in your class. You’re both in fashion right?”
“Fashion? I took arts, mia. I told you i had a passion for arts.” she facepalms and groans.
“Is that why jay cut me off. Urgh i’m an idiot.”
you tilt your head, “You haven’t talked to jay in 2 years?”
“Yeah, besides he has his friend group. Oh did you hear? They started a band together.”
“You mean those 3 heartthrobs of Decelis High?”
“Yeah, along with 3 freshmans and a senior.”
“That’s great. What about you and jake?” Mia shows you her ring. Your eyes widened, “He proposed in these 2-3 years we haven’t talked? Why didn’t you even tell me when you two started dating.”
“No, silly. It’s a promise ring. We’ve been dating for 2 years now. Best 2 years ever by the way.”
“Kinda hurt you didn’t tell your best friend about this.” you huffed and folded your arms.
“I’m sorry!” she goes to hug you.
“You had time with your boyfriend but not me. It hurt when you just cut all contacts with me you know.” you pout.
“Sorry (name).” she whines. You giggled. “I’ll buy you tteokbokki. how about that?”
“With cheese?” you say.
“With cheese.”
The both of you made it to a familiar tteokbokki stand, one that you went to everyday after school. You noticed a pretty familiar face. Mia tilts her head and looks over to where you were staring.
“He said he’d be having band practice.” Mia stares at jake. She pulls you over to where the 6 boys were. Then lets go of you before grabbing jake by the ear. “sim jaeyun, didn’t you say you were having band practice?” mia glares at jake.
“ah ah, i’m sorry, babe forgive me. sunghoon suggested to eat at our usual tteokbokki place so we decided to come here but cross my heart, we practiced before coming here.” jake says.
“(name)?” sunghoon says.
“Sunghoon.”
“hyung, who is she?”
“Oh umm, that is (name). (name), this is sunoo, jungwon, ni-ki and heeseung. Our bandmates.”
“Hi.” you waved.
“Where is jay by the way?” Mia asks.
“Bathroom.” Mia nods.
“Well, we shouldn’t disturb all of you. Me and Mia will just go shopping.” you grabbed her arm and quickly left the tteokbokki place. It fell silent between you and her as you walked around the shops.
“Why did you leave? You could’ve seen jay.”
“It’s been a while since we’ve caught up with each other. Come on, let’s go shopping.” you say. Mia could sense you didn’t want to talk about jay so she nods.
It was around 7.30pm when you finished walking around with mia. you decided to get back to your dorm, however as you were arriving, you saw someone familiar. he was walking a girl home. it was jay. He shyly converses with the girl and bid her goodbye. You mustered up the courage and quickly walked past them. The girl walks in first and you silently prayed that jay wouldn’t notice it was you.
“(name).” well...your hope was now crushed. You slowly turned to face jay.
“Jay. a little surprised to see you here.” you gave him the most sincere fake smile you could, “Why are you here?”
“Oh..just sending a close friend of mine to the dorms since it was quite late.”
“Oh. that’s nice of you. She must be a really great friend.” jay blushes slightly.
“a-ah no. We just talk a little.” it hurts to see jay so flustered by a girl. the younger you would’ve cried. You giggled.
“Someone has a crush on her. Well i’ll get going, see you.” you quickly left before jay could say anything. You were heartbroken. You went back to your dorm. Seems like your roommate just arrived too.
“where did you go?” you asked her. She was in a daze, clearly happy something happened to her.
“The fashion heartthrob walked me home today.” she says. You froze, was that girl your roommate?
“Which heartthrob? Our school has a bunch.” you nonchalantly say as you placed your shoes onto the shelves. it was true, your department and practically the whole school had a bunch of heartthrobs.
“jay. God, he’s so good looking. You think he likes me? He was so flustered while talking to me.” she says. You remembered asking him just now. He did look flustered and kinda happy when talking to her.
“Yeah maybe.” your roommate jumps in happiness.
“eekkk, i’m so happy!! I should get some beauty rest to see him tomorrow!”
“Yeah you should.” you say. Your roommate runs to her room and shuts the door. Your phone vibrates. A text from Mia, she asked if you wanted to call so you replied to her with a simple okay. you picked up the call.
“Hey, got to your dorms safely?” mia asks. you shut your bedroom door and placed your purse down on the table.
“Yeah.”
“Great but why do you sound so defeated?”
you sighed, “Do you think jay still likes me?”
“Of course. Even if it has been years. Jay will still look for you. Why?” you fiddled with your little songwriting book you’ve kept since you were 15. the pages were almost filled with inspirations and lyrics.
“i saw him walking a girl home and that girl is my roommate.”
“what? Oh he will get it.” mia says. you could imagine her holding up her fist.
“No, don’t. He will know i told you because i was the only one that knows about it.” you cracked open the book and began writing some lyrics for fun.
“Are you doubting yourself?” mia asks. you paused. did you doubt yourself? absolutely. jay was someone who was out of reach.
“I mean...he can date whoever he wants. I have no control over him. it’s not like i’m his girlfriend.” you quickly continue to scribble.
“(name), listen to me.”
“Go ahead.”
“We will dress up and meet the band tomorrow.” you dropped the pen.
“What?”
“We have to and besides jay blocked me from everything. i just wanna have a word with him.”
“Mia-”
“Whoops sorry, i have to go. Jake is calling me.” mia ends the call. You breathed in. you had to prepare to meet him again tomorrow.
The next day, mia tells you to get ready by 1pm and so you do. You put on a simple short black dress and threw over a leather jacket. to finalise the look, you wore a necklace. maybe this was a little extra but hey who said you couldn’t dress up.
“My god, what special occasion are you going to?” mia says upon seeing you walk out of the door. you rolled your eyes.
“is it wrong to dress up?” you say. Mia smiles.
“oh no, it isn’t wrong but jay would sooo drool over this. maybe if jay didn’t like you, you could go for someone else. like me perhaps.” mia winks. you laughed and smacked her arm.
both you and mia arrived at where the band frequently practices. The school provided a studio for them and they were elated. Their band played at school related shows and once at a prom. They were pretty known in the school. which surprised you since you’ve never seen them before. i mean, you never really go to school events anyways.
“baby!” jake runs up to mia. They hugged, you smiled at them. they were adorable. way different to how they were back then but you knew along the way that mia just liked jake.
“Okay the younger boys and heeseung have met (name) but yeah. She’s here today.” mia says. you waved.
“Your aura seems different today. Do you have a date later on or something?” sunghoon says as he nudges you. You giggled.
“very funny hoon, unfortunately, i am not going out for one.”
“maybe i could take you out to one later on then.” he smirks. you playfully rolled your eyes at sunghoon’s words.
“shut up.”
“then who did you dress up for noona?” sunoo says.
“yeah, for who?” sunghoon smirks, “is it possibly me?”
“In your dreams. I dressed up for myself.” your eyes met with jay’s, he was definitely checking you out and so you shyly looked away.
“hey (name), i just remembered when you showed me a music piece that you wrote in high school.” jake says. You blushed.
“jake, what do you mean? i never showed you anything.” the boys were interested.
“You’re lying. Mia knows about it too.” she nods agreeing with her boyfriend.
“Don’t tell me you still have it.” you say. jake smirks. He pulls out a book, it was your old lyric book that you had for fun since you had a lot of fun writing it. you swore you lost it so why does jake have it?
“Shall we try singing it, miss singer?” jake says.
“what? I can’t sing, jake.” he turns over to mia.
“Don’t hide that beautiful voice of yours, (name).” she comes up to you and whispers, “besides, don’t you want to impress jay so he wouldn’t be swayed by your roommate?” you breathed in. you really haven’t sang in a while and you didn’t want to do it. however, with everyone’s eyes on you…you couldn’t let them down.
“Fine.” you say. jake claps his hands. He grabs his guitar and starts the chords for the chorus since you only wrote for the chorus and then gave up. it was honestly impressive that you came up with guitar chords to go with the chorus you wrote.
You took a deep breath. you were a little nervous but you closed your eyes and pretended no one was there. it was as if you were singing in your bedroom alone.
Be in love, we know
Heart to heart, you feel it too, right?
Hey love, hey love, please wait for a while
We can be together
Say bye-bye to boring days
Feel our energy
Hey love, hey love, baby just stay in love, love
You stopped right there and when you opened your eyes, you instantly met with jay staring at you. You shyly looked away.
“Wahhh noona, that was great. You should’ve join music production or something.” sunoo says.
“I’m not that great. I just made these lyrics up because i had a crus-” you covered your mouth. great you just revealed the one thing you didn’t want the boys to know about.
“You had a crush? Why didn’t we know about this?” sunghoon says. You looked down at your hands.
“Because it’s not important. It’s just a crush. It wasn’t like i dated him or something.”
“Exactly but crushes are equally important as a boyfriend. So miss (name), are you going to spill the tea or not?” sunghoon says. You looked over at jay, he seemed like he wasn’t upset or anything.
“i-i’m not telling!” you say.
“then if she won’t say it...I WILL! IT’S-” you covered jake’s mouth.
“hehe, well i guess it’s a mystery. Well i have to go now, bye!” you grabbed your bag and left. Mia gives jake one look before running off to find you. Jake grabs his phone when he notices it’s ringing, he answers it and places it in speaker mode.
“(name)! Where are you going?”
“hiding in my room! I can’t believe i blurted that out loud in front of jay!”
“Oh come on, (name). It’s not bad.” you stopped and looked at mia.
“Not bad? that song was literally crafted for him because my teen heart loved him so much. If he found out then i’m fucked. I was stupid. he already has a crush on someone else now. what’s the use?” you confessed. Jake looks up at jay, a blush dusting the older boy’s cheeks.
Mia shows her phone and places it in speaker mode.
“Jay, you heard that? Also unblock me, you idiot.” mia says.
“u-umm can you pass the phone to (name).” jay says. your eyes widened. oh hell nah, he heard everything you just said. mia and her devious plans.
“Mia…” you glared at her.
“Talk to him.” she says handing you her phone after turning off the speaker mode. Jay found a place to quietly talk to you, preferably away from the other boys.
“Hey. jay says.
“Hi.”
“Let’s just get to the point. That song was for me?”
“Yes.” your heart was beating 10 times faster.
“So you liked me.”
“Would it be bad if i still like you up till now and i’ve been waiting for you?” you say.
“Meet me outside your dorm at 6pm.” jay says.
“Uh, sure.”
“I’ll tell mia to send my phone number after i unblock her.” you snort.
“Can’t believe you blocked her because she thought i took fashion.”
“Trust me, i was really mad when i couldn’t find you anywhere in the fashion department.”
“Well see you later.” you say.
“See you.” the call ends. You hand mia her phone back.
“Oh he just unblocked me and he asked me to send you his number...wait what happened during the call.”
“Not telling you.” you stick your tongue out.
Later at 6pm, you came downstairs in a hoodie and sweatpants because honestly, it was too comfy. Jay was waiting for you and you sneaked up on him and scared him. He flinches.
“Oh my god, it was just you.” you smiled.
“So why did you want to meet me here?” you asked.
“Well, i wanted to invite you to a party.”
“A party? Couldn’t you have texted me.”
“Umm...i’m inviting you as my date.” your eyes widened, “you don’t have to accept it. umm, if you don’t want to come to the party-”
“Jay?”
“Yeah?”
“I’ll come.” you flashed him a smile. He shyly smiles. Before you left to get back to your dorm, you gave jay a peck on the cheek and then ran off quickly. Jay holds the side where you kissed him at, a wide grin forming. Jay texts you the details of the party.
Friday comes in, the day of the party. Jay comes to pick you up. You opened the door and there stood jay. He snuck up to the dorm apartment place just to meet you at the door. You were wearing a similar black dress that hugged your body even more perfectly than the previous one. Jay smiles.
“You look great.”
“Thank you, you too.” jay drives you over to the party. It was a huge party, almost every popular clique was here and they all were in their own fun world. Dancing, drinking alcohol and probably making out. Jay drags you to where his friends were.
“Oh hey, you two came together.” sunghoon says. Mia eyes you up and down.
“Isn’t that the dress i bought for you only specifically when you and jay are dati-WAIT (name)....” you shyly look over to jay and he wraps his arms around your waist protectively.
“Me and (name) are dating.” mia gasps.
“You didn’t ask me.” you whisper to jay.
“Well both you and i know, we have mutual feelings for each other so you’re my girlfriend now.” you hide your face at the crook of jay’s neck. he runs his hands down your back to pat you.
“AYYYYY (name), can’t believe you and jay are finally together.” jake says. Jay could hear you whine softly. He chuckles.
“Alright, she’s shy. Let’s not tease her.” jay says.
“Don’t makeout in front of us alright.” mia says.
“You and jake should take your own advice.” heeseung says. Jake blushes.
[epilogue]
It was still summer holiday so both you and jay went back home to visit your parents and well…
“I always knew you two would get together. A match made in heaven.” your mom says.
“mom~” you whined.
“jongseong-ah, where is your sister?”
“At jake’s house.”
“Oh my, are they dating? I knew something would spark between them, they used to hate each other and now look at them. Mia didn’t even tell me about both of them.” Jay’s mom says. Your mom settles the both of you down on the couch.
“so…(name), jay. When are the both of you planning to get married?” your mom asks.
“MOM!” jay on the other hand was blushing hard.

maybe together we can get somewhere
Written for my lovely, talented, and frequent brainworm-sharing friend @stobinesque! Happy birthday, I hope you have the best day!! 🥳💙 This one is also affectionately known as stobin: codependent delivery drivers. Featuring the soulmates soulmating, some Rockie fluff, and just a dash of Steddie. rated: T | wc: 4k | cw: none [read on ao3]
Robin slaps the classified section in front of Steve as he’s making their morning coffee. It’s been another long night of tossing and turning, of holding each other through anxious dreams thanks to the latest round of shit they’ve been through. It’s exhausting, but they’re figuring it out together. Again. Because if all they can do is stay attached at the hip, share a bed, and tell each other everything’s okay as long as they have each other? Well, Robin’s more than willing to do that for Steve. And after two times around this ride already, Robin knows Steve’s more than willing to do that for her too.
So she uses the time not sleeping to scour the paper for job leads. It’s not like she’s dying to work again, but if she and Steve ever want to realize their plans of getting the hell out of Hawkins and moving to the city, they’re gonna need something. If they can’t sleep without each other, they certainly can’t be expected to work without each other.
Luckily Robin thinks she’s finally stumbled upon something that could be great for both of them.
“I think I found our next excursion through the perils of capitalism,” she grins and takes her mug from Steve, who always knows just how to make her coffee. She’s actually pretty sure they could do each other’s morning routines in their sleep, by now.
“Yippee,” Steve says with all the enthusiasm of someone on death row. He knows as well as Robin does that they need to find another job after the Family Video quite literally crumbled to dust, but neither of them is exactly eager to dive back into the hells of minimum wage labor. Not to mention that Robin’s more than a little worried that they’re cursed, and the total destruction of both of their previous workplaces might precede them.
“Come on, as long as we do it together it won’t be that bad,” Robin tries to persuade him before telling him what the actual job is.
“You said that about the last one!” Steve points out, looking so scandalized that Robin’s a little annoyed.
“Are you saying you don’t want to work together anymore?”
“No,” Steve course-corrects so quickly that Robin can’t help but laugh at him. “I whine about work about five-hundred percent more if you aren’t there with me, Robbie. You know that.”
“I’m familiar,” she chuckles, thinking back to every single time Keith scheduled Steve to work without her at the video store. And every time they’d come back to work together at Scoops after a few days apart, Steve would have countless tales of people-watching and bizarre customers to share, even before they considered each other certified soulmates.
“So what is it?” Steve asks.
“How would you like to be one of the newest faces of Surfer Boy Pizza?”
Tumblr media
“I thought you couldn’t drive,” Keith narrows his eyes at Robin before going back to inspect her newly acquired driver’s license. She figured it was time to get one after the shit hit the fan for the second time in less than a year, so that’s exactly what she did…after a few tries, anyway.
Steve would argue that she still can’t drive, actually looks like the words are poised on the tip of his tongue before he thinks better of it.
Robin can’t exactly blame him, not after all he went through trying to teach her. She has to hold back a wince as she relives the time she popped one of his tires like a balloon just from rolling over a curb. But by some miracle—arguably her impeccable parallel parking skills, which might be the only thing she’s actually good at, go figure—Robin finally did manage to get her license.
So the way Keith is looking at it like it has to be a fake is a little bit insulting.
“It’s newly minted, I’ll admit,” Robin sighs and leans across the counter to try and level with him. How he managed to snag up a manager’s spot here so quickly baffles her, quite honestly, since they just opened. (The rumor is that the owners saw Argyle driving around in his van so frequently that they were inspired to open a franchise. Robin isn’t sure what that says about her potential new employers, but she’s trying not to think about it too hard.)
At least she knows how to talk Keith into things he doesn’t necessarily want to do by now.
“But I’m super careful and am an excellent parallel parker,” she continues. “You won’t find any scratches on your shiny new delivery vans when I’m working, or get calls from customers saying I left a dent in their bumper like the infamous kid that used to drive for that other pizza joint in town.”
“We don’t mention that place in here,” Keith grumbles, knowing full well that he is that infamous kid. It’s another reason Robin is shocked that someone hired him to work at a pizza place again, even if he isn’t driving this time around. Keith passes her license back over before glancing at Steve, who knows to stay quiet and let Robin handle things. He merely shrugs and gives Keith a look that imparts so much confidence in Robin that it makes her heart swell. “Fine, you’re both hired. Again. But—”
Robin cuts him off with a soft whoop, surprised at how excited she is to be able to make a mixtape and drive around town without a manager breathing down her neck for her entire shift. She doesn’t really care much about the handing pizzas off to people part, more so the independence. And then to come back to the store and gab with Steve about it while they wait for their next call.
It maybe doesn’t promise quite as much togetherness at work as they’re accustomed to, but Robin has a feeling they’ll find a way to work around that.
“But—” Keith says again with his supposedly stern face on and points at Robin specifically. “You’ll deliver by bike until I trust you with a van.”
Robin feels the way her shoulders slump like she’s sinking into quicksand. “It’s about to be summer, Keith—”
Steve kicks her ankle and clears his throat loudly before he sells her out like a Judas. “Deal.”
Robin stares daggers at the side of his head like the good old days when he was just the douchebag who left bagel crumbs everywhere he went. He doesn’t look at her, though, just shakes hands with Keith and seals her to her sweaty fate.
Robin doesn’t speak to Steve again until they pull up in front of her house. “I can’t believe you threw me under the proverbial bike like that, dingus.”
“Do you want to hear my plan, or do you want to go back and quit before you even get your little yellow visor?” he asks as he shuts off the Beemer.
“I’ll hear your plan,” Robin sighs, glad he seems to have one at all. “But I reserve the right to reject it out of hand. Visor be damned.”
Steve smiles and twists around in his seat to face her, like whatever he’s come up with excites him.
“Okay, so every time Keith sends you out on your bike, you ride around the corner and wait, then I’ll pick you up in the van. That way we can do all our deliveries together until Keith trusts you to drive on your own.” Steve crosses his arms and grins at her like he’s some kind of evil, work-avoidant genius.
Robin thinks he just might be.
“I guarantee we’ll still cover just as much ground if I push the speed limit, Hawkins is so small,” he continues. “Then we’ll both basically be getting paid to do one job, and Keith never has to know.”
“You’re a genius Steve, you know that?” she figures it can’t hurt to tell him. It breaks her heart a little to watch the shadow of disbelief that crosses his face to hear it.
“I don’t know about that…”
Robin claps a hand over his mouth before he can say anything self-deprecating. “Nope. Take the compliment. I only have one question.”
“Shoot, Bobbie,” Steve says. He’s probably trotting out one of Robin’s favorite nicknames to counteract the fact that his lips are moving against her palm as he talks, which he knows creeps her out. How she understands what he’s saying anyway is beyond her, but she does.
“What do we do on nights that I’m scheduled to work, but you’re not?” Robin asks as she drops her hand.
Steve shrugs and gives her such an easy smile, Robin thinks his knack for scheming is one of her favorite things about him.
“Help cover the gas, and I’ll drive you around anyway,” he says. “But you’re pretty good at convincing Keith to schedule us together already.”
Robin wonders if maybe this job will actually be kind of fun.
Tumblr media
Robin’s pretty sure Keith catches on to their little routine after about a week of doing it. But she’s already plotted a route around Hawkins that maximizes the ground they can cover, and Steve’s had all the best places to speed memorized for years, so every customer ends up singing their praises to the point where Keith can’t really bring himself to do anything about it.
She thinks she might never have to drive a delivery van herself as long as they keep this up. That’s fine by Robin, because even if the pay is shit, it’s probably the most fun she’s ever had at work.
It beats slinging ice cream in a sailor outfit, anyway.
People actually seem happy to see Robin when she’s the one who rings the bell, delivering their dinner with a smile and a little bit of a clumsy lilt to her gait. It always gives her an extra dose of confidence when the particularly hot moms of Hawkins are thrilled to see her—whether it’s for closeted sapphic reasons or just gender solidarity, Robin can’t help but enjoy the attention and praises heaped upon her.
“Robin, you look almost as adorable in that uniform as you did in the sailor outfit. Yellow really is a good color on you,” Mrs. Wheeler says to her one night, and Robin nearly faints from it.
Eventually she starts flirting a little—not with Nancy’s mom, but maybe with some of the others who didn’t birth her friends—just subtly enough to make getting out of the car to talk to the babes on their route worth it. Steve grumbles about letting Robin talk to all the pretty girls at first, but it’s good natured and really Robin can tell that he’s proud of her for being a little charmer.
He doesn’t mind flirting with the dudes instead, anyway. Especially not when Eddie starts ordering pizza way more frequently than is strictly necessary, even for someone still recovering from his first stint in the underworld.
“Why don’t you just ask him out?” Robin asks when Steve climbs back in the van with a goofy smile on his face for the fourth time in one week. Between the kids hanging out at Max’s and Eddie calling so often, they spend more time delivering to their new, unearthquaked end of the trailer park than anywhere else.
“Why don’t you just ask Vickie out?” Steve counters, just like he always does. Robin tries to flick some of her Coke at him (that she may or may not have snagged from the work fridge behind Keith’s back), but she fumbles the execution and ends up spilling the whole can on Steve’s shirt. Then Steve’s laughing, but also glaring at her as he whines about his work shirt being sticky now.
Robin tries to stifle her own laughter with apologies, chooses not to point out that Eddie’s laughing from his door, too. She strips her own Surfer Boy tee off, leaving just the white tank top she’s wearing underneath, and hands it to Steve to change into. They share clothes like it’s their lot in life anyway. Robin’s actually kind of convinced that one might’ve been Steve’s shirt to begin with.
“Thanks,” he grumbles and changes hastily. He finally notices Eddie’s still watching once he’s trying to fix his hair in the rearview mirror.
Robin revels in the way his neck flushes, just a teeny bit. Steve waves shyly, Eddie waves back, and she wonders how long they’ll continue to be dumbasses as Steve finally pulls away.
“Where to next?” he asks, and Robin checks her list.
Her groan tells Steve everything he needs to know.
“Vickie’s it is!” He sounds entirely too cheerful about it.
The drive from Eddie’s to Vickie’s is vanishingly short, especially with Steve and Robin’s System of Fast and Efficient Pizza Delivery, patent pending.
“Gimme my shirt back,” Robin implores as Steve pulls up to Vickie’s, feeling exposed all of a sudden in just her tank top. She anxiously looks towards the front door as she waits. The porch light’s on for them, because Vickie is always one of the more courteous customers they’ve got—and one of the best tippers.
“Oh so I’m supposed to sit here shirtless because you don’t want to show off your arms to a pretty girl?” Steve asks, and Robin whips her head around to realize he’s not planning on giving her shirt back at all.
“It’s company policy not to approach a door without your uniform!” Robin shrieks, not because she cares much about company policy, but because Steve should have her back on principle. “Plus, you enjoy being shirtless, you flirt!”
“I don’t think Vickie’s going to mistake you for a missionary,” Steve says blandly, ignoring the mild-slut shaming completely. “Plus, you’ve still got your visor on.”
“Steve,” Robin tries, but he just grins at her without moving a muscle.
“You look great. Go get ‘em, Tiger.”
“Oh god. You did not just say that,” Robin sighs, delaying further just to make fun of him a little. She thinks it’s deserved.
“I did, and I meant it,” Steve raises an eyebrow at her. “Unless you want me to drop this one?”
“No,” Robin tells him with all the annoyance she can muster. She might be awkward, flailing, and hopelessly pining over Vickie already, but she’s not gonna let any of that stop her from going up to that door. “Gimme the damn pizza.”
Steve reaches to get it out of the back and hands it over to Robin with a shit-eating grin. She really regrets not giving him more hell over Eddie back there, but she takes the box and squares her shoulders before making her way up Vickie’s front stairs.
Robin rings the bell and does her best not to fidget the entire time she’s waiting. Which isn’t very long at all. Vickie opens the door with a wide smile in greeting, looking almost angelic in the way the light behind her frames her fiery hair, her eyes bright and excited just because Robin’s there.
Or maybe she’s just really hungry, a more cynical part of Robin’s brain corrects.
“Veggie pizza?” Robin asks, and Vickie nods.
“Thanks,” Vickie says, already moving to exchange pizza for money. “That was really fast.”
“Oh, well. Steve and I have a system. I kind of buried myself in maps for a night while I worked out the quickest routes around town, then we spent the next couple of days figuring out how to drive them quickly without hitting any pedestrians or breaking too many traffic laws,” Robin says without thinking. No matter how many times they talk, Robin doesn’t seem to be able to stop blurting things out around Vickie.
Vickie just laughs though, leaning a little around Robin so she can wave to Steve who is very obviously watching them from the car.
“That’s a whole lot of dedication to the job,” Vickie comments, and Robin can feel her ears turn pink.
“Sometimes I just plan stuff out when I can’t sleep, even if I never actually end up doing it,” Robin admits.
“Me too,” Vickie says with such soft knowing in her voice that Robin wants to wrap herself up in it like a blanket. For the first time she wonders if maybe Steve isn’t the only person who can calm her nerves enough to help her sleep. She doesn’t have much time to get caught up in the thought, though, because Vickie keeps talking.
“Is that your normal uniform?” she asks, and Robin hopes she’s not imagining the way Vickie’s gaze lingers over her bare shoulders, her chest, her neck. She feels exposed, still, her skin alight with any attention Vickie is willing to give, but it feels nice. So nice, actually, that Robin doesn’t remember how to respond for a moment. “Or did you just want to show off your tan?”
Vickie bites her lip and flushes ever so slightly, like maybe she hadn’t quite meant to say that part out loud. Robin can’t think of anything but how desperate she is to kiss her.
“I really don’t tan,” Robin admits. “Freckle, mostly. Sometimes burn if I’m not careful. Which I guess isn’t surprising, given the history of skin cancer in my family—” Robin hears herself and wants to die. She snaps her mouth shut before she can say anything else horrifying.
“Oh, I burn too! Even with all the sunscreen in the world, sometimes–” Vickie cuts herself off with a nervous laugh. “Well, the freckles look very good, anyway.”
“Thanks,” Robin murmurs, and she thinks maybe she’s blushing enough to look sunburnt now.
“Robin?” Vickie asks, still holding the pizza between them like she’s afraid if she moves the moment might break.
Or maybe that’s just what Robin’s scared of.
“Yeah?”
“Can you help me with something real quick, or are you super busy tonight?” Vickie asks. The hopeful way she tilts her head is so precious Robin might implode right there on the spot.
Robin doesn’t care how busy they are, there’s no way she’s not following Vickie inside. “I can help. What’s up?”
“It’s just that my VCR is jammed,” Vickie says, already leading Robin inside and talking over her shoulder. She puts the pizza down on the coffee table and nods toward the TV. Robin ambles over, not sure there’s anything she can do to fix it, but she’s willing to try.
“You worked at Family Video for a while, right?” Vickie asks. Robin nods and tries not to relive every time Vickie came in to rent something and Robin acted like a fool. “Thought maybe you’d have the magic touch with it.”
Robin doesn’t think she’s imagining the flirtatious way that Vickie says magic touch, so she pours all of her focus into the malfunctioning machine in front of her before she malfunctions and melts into a puddle on Vickie’s floor.
She feels Vickie’s eyes watching her as she works and thinks she might melt anyway.
It doesn’t take long to figure out the problem. After some fumbling, Robin manages to untangle some loose tape from inside the deck. She can’t help but think it looks haphazardly shoved in there. “Were you babysitting, or something?”
“No?” Vickie says, voice inexplicably laced with questionable guilt.
“Just seems like it got stuffed in there,” Robin says as she turns around with the tangle on display. “Like maybe a kid was playing with it.”
“Oh. Well. Weird.” Vickie’s biting her lip and looking at her feet all of a sudden. Robin can see the sheen of freshly applied gloss on Vickie’s lips. She wonders what it tastes like.
She also wonders if maybe Vickie put it on just for her.
“Vickie?” Robin’s voice is whisper quiet.
“Yeah?”
“Did you really need my help with the VCR?”
Vickie’s eyes snap to Robin’s face, worried, like she’s been caught out. But then Robin smiles at her, so gently she feels like it might break her own heart just to feel it on her face, and Vickie relaxes her shoulders.
“No,” she admits.
Robin doesn’t know where the courage comes from, what comes over her or how, but one minute she’s standing in Vickie’s living room thinking she might pass out from nerves, and the next she’s cupping Vickie’s cheek with all the casual smoothness Robin’s ever mustered in her life. Then Robin leans in to kiss her.
It’s heady, the power Robin feels just from being the one to move first. It’s like her body was made for this, for gently holding Vickie’s face and tasting the strawberry flavor of her lip gloss, feeling the soft pout of her lips slotting between Robin’s own like puzzle pieces fitting together.
But mostly Robin is soaring because Vickie is kissing her back, fiercely, like maybe this was actually what Vickie was hungry for instead of pizza in the first place.
Robin isn’t entirely sure what being a good kisser entails, at least not when you actually want the person you’re lip to lip with so badly you’re seeing stars. There’s no universe in which Robin thinks this can’t be good, though, because her whole body is tingling from the way Vickie presses up against it, the way she gently slips her hand into Robin’s hair and tilts Robin’s head just so.
Robin feels her visor come tumbling off her head, but she can hardly care when Vickie lets out a delicate moan that leaves her absolutely weak in the knees.
“Vickie,” Robin breathes out when they separate, already wanting to dive in for more. Vickie smiles against Robin’s mouth, kisses the corner of her lips again like she’s worried she missed a spot.
“Yes, Robin?” Vickie asks, suddenly sounding much more confident than she’d looked just a moment before—almost teasing.
“That was really good,” Robin says plainly.
“I agree,” Vickie hums. She pecks Robin on the lips one more time, gentle and quick about it. “And as much as I want to do it again, I think Steve’s waiting for you.”
It’s only then that Robin even hears the distinct sound of the van’s horn honking—two quick beeps to remind her that there’s still two more deliveries they need to make.
“Damn him,” Robin mutters, and Vickie just laughs. Her breath against Robin’s face is minty fresh, and Robin can’t really be expected to function when she knows Vickie planned this whole thing, can she?
“Call me later?” Vickie asks.
Robin nods, but not before kissing her again, deliveries be damned.
Tumblr media
“Your lips are swollen,” Steve says first thing when she gets back in the car, dazed and floaty like she’s just taken the best drugs of her life. (This is something Robin actually has a point of reference for now, and she’s easily putting ‘Kisses From Vickie’ at the top of the list.)
“I kissed her,” Robin says, staring straight ahead. Steve squeals like a little girl and bounces in his seat.
“Finally!” he cheers, giving Robin’s shoulders an excited shake. “Are you comatose over there?”
“A little,” Robin admits, but she feels the smile break out on her face like an explosion of fireworks. She sucks in a deep breath and finally looks at Steve. He looks so happy for her she thinks her heart might burst all over again. “I kissed a girl.”
“Was it everything you imagined?” Steve asks, not bothering to hide the hopeless romantic that lives in his chest and pulls all of his heartstrings.
“And then some,” Robin says, hearing how dreamy she sounds and just rolling with it. Steve starts the van up again just as Vickie waves at them both from her front window. She blows Robin a kiss, and Robin thinks she’s died and gone to a heaven she’s not sure she believed in until now.
“Seems this job was worth it after all,” Steve admits.
Robin really can’t disagree.

The Great Gaming Fiasco
Summary: Grizzy rage, I think you already know this<3
TW: Established relationship, rage. anger, warzone moment, kissing, cursing and screaming, lmk if I missed anything
Tumblr media
This fateful night started like any other, with the trio gathering their keyboards, their spirits high and laughter echoing through the room. “Ready to beat some noobs?” Grizzy hollered as he loaded up the game, the anticipation crackling in the air like static electricity. The familiar battle sounds filled the room, and they dove into the chaos.
“Why doesn’t that work?!” Smii7y bellowed, fierce frustration spilling from his lips like a dragon's fire, slumping dramatically in his chair as his avatar met an untimely demise. He banged his hand on the desk with a sound akin to thunder.
“Ello Grizzy!” Puffer sang with a comedic flair as Grizzy was unexpectedly reincarnated, flinging his parachute in a desperate bid to return to the sky. But alas, the parachute refused to open—like a deflated balloon. Grizzy’s frustration spiraled as he began to rain blows on his keyboard, resulting in a dramatic self-kill that could only be described as tragicomic.
“WHY WOULD YOU KILL YOURSELF?” Puffer cried out, the desperation lacing his voice as if they were in a high-stakes war council. “I COULD’VE REZZED YOU! WHY?!”
With a dramatic flourish, the keys rained down like confetti, creating a chaotic storm of letters and symbols — a keyboard glitter bomb exploded across his desk! Each key had its own story, its own mission to fulfill in the kingdom of Warzone, and now they lay shattered in despair.
The keyboard chaos continued, keycaps flying around Grizzy’s desk like tiny meteors in a galactic explosion of rage. The comical scene escalated, with Smii7y unable to stifle his laughter. “I think I need a new keyboard,” Grizzy declared with a resigned sigh echoing through the room, a solemn testament to his fiery spirit, as if he had just climbed Mount Doom only to find it was a mere hill.
“He just lost all his keycaps.” Smii7y said with a smirk growing on his face, while Grizzy fumed, the air tinged with both laughter and despair. “Oh my god” Puffer moans in emotional pain in the background. “Bro it aint working today.” Smii7y responded to Puffer's distress. “Nothing’s working.” Smii7y joked about how each bug felt like a monster stalking them in the night, ready to pounce at any awakening moment.
“I’m kicking over the key caps, I’ll clean that mess later.” Grizzy growled, “It's a problem for another day.
“What do you mean mess?’ Puffer aspirated at Grizzy
“Wait, can you even use your keyboard? Did you go get a new one?” Puffer asked for content
“I got a new one- well i stole __’s” Grizzy responded “Ugh-let me straighten my desk” Puffer laughed at Grizzy’s misery.
“Yeaahh” “What the fuck happend?” “What happened to you?” Smii7y and Puffer asked.
“The situation where you're gonna pull your parachute and it says “NO”” Grizzy explained as annoyance seeped through his voice. “Yeah! That literally just happened to me as well.” Smii7y agrees with Grizzy’s annoyance at the game with their bugs. They exchanged stories of their own gaming disasters, an unwritten pact of camaraderie knitting them closer amidst the chaos.
“Yeah so then I decided to slam my keyboard, which killed me, which made me even more angry. So I just clapped my keyboard together, ‘til everything came off.” Grizzy tells the replay of what just happened.
“Were you doing a last second one?” Smii7y asked. “Uhh-no i pressed it like 3 times before landing, it just didn't pull.” Grizzy answered with a slight tone.
“Like right now.” Grizzy placed ___’s keyboard down with some force, as he was clenching and unclenching his fist, storming off, as the trio couldn't help but spiral into a cyclone of banter, laughing yet again at Grizzy’s misfortune. Grizzy stormed off out of frame towards his right office door which was left open.
Tumblr media
In the midst of the laughter, the mood shifted. A loud crash resonated from Grizzy’s office, while I was in the kitchen. Quickly followed by a blood-curdling scream that sent shivers down their spines.
“FUCK!!!”  Grizzy’s roar thundered through the house, slicing through the laughter like a lightning bolt, a haunting call of despair that made everyone freeze. After that there was an eerie unusual stillness lurking in the house.
My skin jumped as his scream blared to life, roaring like a thousand ghosts at once, sending ice down my spine. I gasped in shock, my eyes popped open like saucers, my adrenaline rushing through my veins. In a flurry, I leapt out of my statue like a state.
With curiosity piqued, I tiptoed towards the scene, every step echoing with anticipation. Approaching cautiously, I soon found myself colliding with Grizzy, his frustration evident and his door hanging askew like a battle-worn shield, leaning on the doorframe. “Let me guess... warzone moment?” I quipped with a smirk, but concern laced my words like a thick fog that hung in the air.
“Yeah, I didn't know how else to take my rage out of my body, since I already broke my keyboard. I was most certainly not breaking your keyboard, yes I stole it after I broke mine. I knew how much time and money you spent on that keyboard.” Grizzy explained while I was giving him the “mom” look. As we stood there, I couldn’t help but chuckle. The chaos of gaming had turned into a comedic rendezvous, where gaming mishaps became fodder for laughter and camaraderie.
“Well I appreciate  you not breaking mine, but now I have to fix your office door babe.” I say walking out his arms towards the closet of tools/storage that they have.
As I set to fixing his door, the banter resumed. “Is it possible to rage hard enough to break a door?” I teased while wielding my tools. Grizzy sheepishly scratched his head, his triumph of rage slowly fading into recollection of the bond we all had.
I heard Grizzy walk back into his office, as my hands were full of tools and glue so I could repair the holes in the wall. “I’m done, shut the fuck up. SHUT THE FUCK UP! I’m done, I’m done.” Grizzy repeated. “I just broke my door with my hands, now ___ is fixing it. I’m FUCKING DONE.” He screams in anger and slaps his hand on his desk.
“Sorry, baby, I'm not mad at you.” Grizzy apologized to me, as I was trying to make myself as small as possible. I was putting toothpicks and wood glue together in the holes, where the screws used to be. Grizzy ended the stream right after he apologized to me.
“You’re fine babe, is there anyway you can get the sandpaper that i left on the counter. Also maybe the wirecutter in the tool box?” I asked him a favor, I felt my phone buzz in my butt pocket.
Hey ___ you okay? Grizzy okay? -Puffer
Yes we are both okay, he is calming down now as we are both putting the door back together. Try to tell, chat that too. You know how shit can spiral out of control.
Will do, and okay we were just making sure
Its all good! I’m probably gonna make him, go get us food in a min
(read)
Moments passed as I tuckered away at the door, awaiting Grizzy’s emotional cooldown. “After all this fixing, how about a nice dinner?” I suggested with a smile, already picturing a delightful feast to reward ourselves after the wild night.
“C’mon babe, let's get your fine ass off the dirty floor and go find a nice restaurant.” Grizzy nodded enthusiastically, offering his hand to help me up, grinning ear-to-ear. As I stood up with his help, I gave him a kiss on the lips and started tugging him to the door, laughing together.

(time skip to 7am)
Saturday at 7 in the morning, sun glistening through the blinds, bed messy but your still laid in it. you suddenly wake up to yeosang not being in your arms anymore. “yeosang..?” you mumble still in a lazy morning voice. you realize he wasn’t even in the room with you, but your room smelled very nice, warm like vanilla. your favorite scent. you decide to get up, get ready to go find yeosang and get ready for the day in general.
you finished getting ready and head to the kitchen to see yeosang standing there with flowers, cake and heart shaped red balloons in his hands. “happy birthday my love!” he screeches at you while popping a confetti popper. “oh my gosh?? yeosang thank you so much!” you run over to him hugging you then kissing his cheek. “baby, i hope you have the best birthday ever.” he smashes his lips into yours. tounges roaming each other’s mouth. the kiss was sloppy but wonderful. “let me make it up to you baby..” he carries you back to the bedroom bridal style pushing you into the bed.

he pushes his fingers in and out faster and faster then eventually you came on his hands, taking his hands out of you he licks them clean making you whine at the scene. “you want a condom or no?” he asks in concern. “no, i want you to fill me up with your seed please..” you whine making him curse under his breath. pushing his hands into your hips and pushing his cock into you making you moan. “fuck your so pretty when your like this..” he groans. the moaning, whimpers and groans bouncing off the walls you might think your neighbors below and above you might have to write a noise complaint about you both, but you didn’t care. you wanted people to hear how good he was making you feel. “fuck, darling i’m gonna-“ hot cum shoots into you painting your walls.
yeosang stares at the scene he made. he’s so proud. after a long minute of you both coming back to reality, he mumbles into your breast, “i love you so much, happy birthday.” “i love you too.” you kiss him on the forehead. “now, lets get cleaned up and cuddle afterwards or do you wanna go somewhere?” you hum. “cuddle.” he smiles.

Friday June 13, 1975, 4:30 p.m. The Geller House, Jackson, MS
The water balloon snapped on your finger as you tied it off, and you smiled, looking out over the sink as Saul set up two big barrels of water in the back yard for the Summer Shabbat gathering tonight at your home. Ida rubbed your shoulder as she joined you in the kitchen and began to cut up a watermelon. Her eyes narrow with a smile as she looked over at you.
“So you’re not even gonna give me a clue about the mystery man you disappeared with for two nights? My only lead is that you must have met him at the concert with Danny.”
You shake your head, stretching another water balloon around the faucet. “Ida…what can I say? that was a momentary lapse in judgement… I feel so ashamed about staying out two nights in a row with no warning—”
Ida stopped chopping to push you, clucking her tongue. “Stop, for this you feel ashamed? You should feel ashamed you don’t get out more often. You have a built in babysitter. Me! I told you that night…. I told you, you’d meet someone at that concert… he can’t have been so bad, if he wanted to see you again the next day? Takes a good man not to make a girl wait by the phone sweating for days before a second date… is it one of Danny’s co-workers?”
“Definitely not.” You chuckle. “And, well, once he knew I had a kid … he was pretty turned off. So it’s a non-starter.” It was a non-starter before it started, for that and oh so many reasons you thought to yourself.
Ida looked at your expectantly, smirking. You blush, a grin followed. “Ok, Rebecca… at least tell me you got some petzl?”
“Oy, girlie, well at least you looked like you had some fun, especially that first morning …you had a big grin plastered on your face.”
“Ida!” You slapped your aunt’s shoulder.
“What, you don’t think I appreciate making whoopee? My generation invented it. Tell me, did he have a big schlong?”
“Ida…”
“So a tootsie roll?” She held up her pinky. “You know Hashem blessed me, let me just say he gave your uncle a big schmeckel.” Ida winked at you.
You shook your head, then turned, looking at her with a smirk as you made an eyeball measurement with your hands. “Like a big, fat swollen kishke… the biggest I’ve ever seen…I…” you both start cracking up… “can’t believe I just told you that…”
Ida chuckled. “Oy gavolt, girlchick, no wonder you went back for more. I’m surprised you ever came home….”
You tilted your head back, giggling uncontrollably and blushing a beet red, Ida chortled even more at your embarrassment.
She patted your back. “So, you had some fun. It’s healthy. You’ll meet someone, I know it, maybe not this Mr. Kishke….. but there are other good men out there. I promise. We should get Harriet to take you out to that go-go club she likes…”
You laugh, filling another balloon. “Ida, I’m not going to troll the disco looking for men…. If it’s meant to happen. I’ll meet someone and it will just…” you snap your fingers. “Click.”
Your aunt nodded. “Do you ever regret, you know, not marrying Teddy?”
You scowl slightly, thinking of Ruth’s father back in Birmingham. The last time you saw him, you were picking Ruth up at Pesach and stayed the night in his guest room. Everyone else in the house was asleep, Ruth, Teddy’s beautiful blonde wife, Jean, and you had thought he was too. But no, he’d cornered you in the garage as you grabbed a beer from the second fridge, pressing himself up against you, pushing you into the garage work counter, whispering “c’mon, for old time’s sake, you know you want to…” into your ear, pulling up your dress as you told him no, and pushed back on him. You had to knee him in the balls to get the message into his head that you weren’t interested in sweaty, shitty casual sex with your ex while your daughter and his wife slept upstairs.
He was drunk, you told yourself, but you still hated him, how cheap he made you feel. The next morning, after he hugged Ruth goodbye and held Jean while waving you off, you swore that you would never be alone with him again. Next time, you would get a motel room. Teddy had always been a duplicitous toad, it just took you a few months and an unexpected pregnancy to realize it. Unbeknownst to you at the time, he’d had a girlfriend back in Tuscaloosa the summer you got pregnant. You hadn’t developed your smarm detector back then, and you had been charmed by his swept aside dirty blonde hair, his college boy humor, his tan body, and most of all, his overt, romantic attention to you in front of everyone at the summer camp where you’d both been counselors. You had been utterly convinced it was true love. Boy, boy oh boy, were you wrong.
“No, Ida, not for a second, I dodged a bullet with that one. Thank God I trusted my gut.” You snapped another water balloon tight with determined finality. “And luckily Ruthie is nothing like him.”
“Well, my pretty girl, you deserve to meet a nice man, who will see you for all you have to offer. You know if you ever want me to——”
“——I know, you have the whole yenta network standing by to set me up with all the eligible single men in Jackson… OK …look, we only have an hour until the other kids get here, I still need to make potato salad, and,” you yelled to the other room where your uncle had plopped down to watch TV. “Saulie needs to get the grill set up.” Pulling down your yellow tee-shirt over your belly, you make a mental note to go change and put on a bra before people arrive.
————————————————
Elvis looked into his rearview mirror, adjusting his sunglasses one last time, then sighing. He wiped the tops of his fringed, rainbow jacket, and straightened his white collar, pulling it up and out over the top of the coat.
“Maybe shoulda called first?” He asked Jerry. He’s friend turned his gaze from the split-level house out the car window, over to Elvis. There were several phone calls Jerry would have liked to make when Elvis had grabbed him by the shoulders five hours ago in the Graceland foyer and spontaneously informed him they were going for a ‘lil ride.’ At first, Jerry attributed Elvis’ insistence they go retrieve some jewelry he’d left in Jackson right away to dexedrine-fueled paranoia. He had dealt with this before, and once he realized Elvis would not be deterred, he went along to ensure his safety. Vernon, Joe, Linda, Sonny, and Priscilla, who was sending Lisa Marie to Memphis on Monday with Dick, these were the other phone calls Jerry had wanted to stop and make as the yellow Caddy flew down I-55 toward Mississippi.
“You work for my daddy or for me, Milk? Quit yer caterwauling, now, c’mon … was a time when you weren’t scared of the open road. Now Myrna’s gotcha all pussy whipped.. man, yer worse than a teenage girl with a curfew. We’ll be there in a few hours, ya ken make as many calls as you want once we get my rings back.” Elvis had snarled at him impatiently, so Jerry coolly smoked the cigarillo handed to him and watched the lush green overgrowth of Mississippi pass them by.
Indeed, Jerry had probably spent more time getting to know Diana, Sheila and Mindi than Elvis had, shuttling them to and from concert gigs in-between and sometimes overlapping with each other or with Linda. In Elvis’ life, women were generally pointed at in the audience, or at a party or on TV and delivered by plane, train, car or bus. Sometimes he met them at a party or event, and would invite them to spend a day, a week, a month even with him. With women, Elvis could be impulsively, spontaneously, and haphazardly interested. How many times had he chartered plane to bring a girl to his house or concert with only a few hours notice? But Jerry had never seen Elvis drive himself to someone’s house, and sit in the car anxiously combing his hair to subdue his nervous energy before trotting up to ring a doorbell.
It was only after he came back out to the car to inform El that there were definitely no forgotten rings or any other jewelry at the hotel that Jerry began to suspect the real reason for their impromptu visit to Jackson. Jerry sat back down in the car, detailing the thorough, hour-long search he had just completed with the hotel security team and the manager as they graciously allowed him to inspect Elvis’ suite, then the separate room they had stored his costumes in, and then all the rooms the other Memphis Mafia members had stayed in. Elvis nodded his head thoughtfully.
“Well, fuck. Ain’t them the breaks, Jack…” Elvis hit the steering wheel a little too emphatically. “Man, fucking loved that star ring. Shit……well, since we’re here, though, might as well drop by and see that lil girl from the other day, right?”
And before he knew it, Jerry was strolling back into the Belhaven Hotel to get a local telephone book and reserve their previous suites for the weekend. He had watched Elvis’ anxiety increase over the ten minutes it took for the Caddy to wind its way through the Belhaven neighborhood to the Geller residence over in the Fondren. Elvis lurched forward in his car seat gripping the steering wheel, shoulders pinched up as he ran his hand through his hair, tapping his fingers on the gear shift, changing the radio station three or four times. And now, as they sat in the car outside of Becky’s house, Jerry couldn’t figure out why, for the life of him, El wasn’t having him go up to the house and bring out the girl for him. In fact, he wasn’t sure why Elvis hadn’t just sent him or one of the other guys down to Jackson to fetch her back to Graceland, as they had all done countless times with the other women Elvis dated.
Elvis’ was nervous for this very reason. He hadn’t called on anyone cold like this in years. Maybe decades. He had considered sending Jerry to get Becky and bring her to him, he’d been thinking about it since she ran out on him three days ago. But, well, frankly, he was afraid she wouldn’t have come and his pride couldn’t stomach a second-hand rejection. In these sort of situations, Elvis’ governing principle was to move on, dose up and forget anyone or anything that made him question whether he was undesirable, old, a fake, a sellout, a has-been, a selfish person or an unlovable egomaniac. But something had happened when he was with Becky, maybe it was the thrill of the chase, or the way being with her just felt effortless. Maybe it had been the sex, just the fact of it, let alone how good it had felt - he hadn’t felt so confident and turned on since who knows when. Maybe it was the sleeping, oh the sleep, holding her through the night, he’d had the best rest in years. Then there was his suspicion that God had brought her to him as some sort of angelic tribute, a reward for all the pain and shit he’d been through since, well, since forever. The last night together, as Becky sat in his lap playing guitar and teaching him Hebrew psalms, Elvis had begun to notice light radiating around her head, like a golden, ethereal halo, and he couldn’t shake the desire to feel the glow of her energy on his skin again. He kept this belief to himself as he looked at Jerry.
Then there was the less than spiritual image of Becky’s big, brown, earnest eyes looking up at him with unabashed, raw desire when she had sucked his cock. He smiled to himself thinking of it. Elvis had found this image coming back too him all week, to the extent that he often found he’d completely tuned out of the conversations happened around Graceland. He would hear the giggle in Becky’s mouth as she laughed at herself and her clumsy mechanics during sex. She was not experienced in the art of fellatio, he could tell she didn’t do it often, but her sweet, eager genuine enthusiasm was more exciting to him than a blow job from the most seasoned whore. The way she didn’t take herself too seriously put Elvis at ease, and he felt like a young man again, enjoying the awkward mumblings of getting to know another person. Naked.
Elvis longed to teach Becky what he liked, mold her mouth to him, fuck her sweetly and then ride her raw, tending to her swollen lips with his own as he bent her wild spirit to his will and absorbed the golden light from her smile into his being. He smiled to himself again, thinking of how she’d probably have a few feisty remarks when she opened the door, wondering how many soft caresses on her round hips it would take to melt her and get her to come back his hotel room with him. Then he remembered how she left, angry, hurt, totally misconstruing his generosity.
“Must have some sort of death wish for difficult woman…. huh… s’ a test, is what it is, He is testing me… see if I can perservere…” Elvis muttered to himself, then looked over at Jerry, who had no clue what Elvis was talking about. “Jerry, how many people have I given gifts to… ya know… money, jewelry, cars, fur coats…?”
“Tons, EP, all the time.”
Elvis nodded, reassuring himself. “And has anyone, ever, been insulted and thrown it back in ma face?”
Jerry’s expression dropped as he started to piece together why they were really here. In Jackson. Three hours from home. Five for them, because before they could come do what Elvis had really wanted to do, Jerry had been forced to go through the whole charade with the hotel and the jewelry, because Elvis couldn’t admit he was hung up on a girl. Who may or may not have rejected him. Oh shit, he thought, how did he manage to find the one women not interested in free money? Of course. Of course that is why we’re here. He cannot bear to think there is someone out there who hates him. Scratch that. Someone he is attracted to who hates him. Jerry swallowed his misgivings about the unpredictable and unprecedented scenario about to unfold.
“Nope, boss. Not one that I’ver seen. But you know how women can be on the road…it’s always the first thing in the morning, the fun is over, suddenly they're sensitive and hurt and could feel used… girls always get a little emotional, even if they knew what time it was going wit ya the night before… She was probably just insecure.”
Elvis nodded in agreement. “Yeah, an this one, she’s skittish, completely oblivious to how cute she is, ya know Jerrah?”
Jerry grinned.”Yup, oh man, I almost like ‘em better that way, good and oblivious…"
“…an all mine….” Elvis added. “Yeah, know whatcha mean…. Alright, how’d I look?”
“Sharp. Cool. You look good EP.” Jerry squeezed Elvis’ shoulder. “That lil girl is gonna cream her pants when she sees you.” Jerry hoped, rather than believed, this statement.
Elvis nodded. “Right, ok, hang tight here, and I’ll go get her. Plan is dinner, up in the suite, alone. You got the rooms set up?”
Jerry nodded. Elvis snapped his fingers, and got out of the car, smiling to himself as he walked up the path to your house, picturing your big brown eyes, overjoyed to see him, apologizing for being so rude when he tried to give you that money, your mouth in a shocked smile as you opened the door. To his dismay, your uncle Saul opened the door, wearing a “Kiss the Chef” apron and looking impatient.
“Oh good, you’re finally here, the natives are getting restless, they’re all in the back.” The 65-year old balding Jewish man started to pull Elvis in. “But where’s the ice cream cake, Cheryl said you were stopping at Dairy Cream? And whose in your car?”
Elvis stuttered, looking at Saul with his mouth agape, then back at the car, and adjusted his glasses.
“Um, that’s my employee - uh, oh, I think you might -“
Saul interrupted him. “Oy, well, don’t make him sit out there in this weather, my balls are boiling and I’ve only been standing out here for what, a minute? He’s welcome to come, we have plenty of hot dogs, though no ice cream cake - I’ll let your wife chew you out for that. Come in, come in.”
Elvis called out to Jerry, and let Saul usher them into the house, following him as he led them to the kitchen and began handing the two men trays of watermelon and hot dog buns, trying unsuccessfully to get a word in edgewise while Saul talked at them.
“Ok, ok, the ladies have the punch all set up, so this is the last to go out. The kids have been running around all meshuga for an hour, I think they’ll sleep well tonight.” Saul chuckled, winking as he gave Elvis and Jerry a knowing look.
The men exchanged their own raised eye brows, and followed Saul through a sliding glass door into the back yard, continuing on with all the minute details of the afternoon, everything he’d done to set up, the games they’d been playing and how hard to had been to get the grill going and on and on. Elvis and Jerry found themselves in a group of ten or so mothers standing around, watching a hoard of kids in swim suits chase each other around with water guns and balloons out on the grass.
Elvis started to explain to Saul again that there must be some misunderstanding as he placed the tray of hot dog buns down, but then his attention was completely transfixed by the sight of you running backwards with the kids, egging them on as they pelted you with water balloons while you squirted them with a gun. A grin spread over his face as he watched your long curly hair sway back and forth, your cheeks flushed, bosom bobbing up and down completely unconstrained by a bra, and a look of pure glee on your face as you yelled, “Ha ha, can’t catch me!” You turned to look at the group on the patio and did a double take when you locked eyes with Elvis, not noticing the slippery pool of mud you were running into and tripping backwards as you cried out a “fucking cocksucker!” A swarm of nine year olds overtook you and pelted you with water from a mix of balloons and spray guns, laughing and calling out variations of “Becky said a baaaad word….you’re gonna be too in trouble.” Ruth’s laughter was the loudest, and she ran up and squirted you in the face, then turned to run over to her friends, giggling as you lay there in the grass and mud, groaning, eyes shut, hoping the earth would swallow you whole.
You heard heavy boots thudding toward you slowly, and you groaned again as you watched Elvis’ tall, thick silhouette block out the sky above you. His hair was a bushy circle around his face, and for some reason he was wearing the most ridiculous fringed, rainbow suede jacket in 95 degree June weather. A smirk crested above his round jaw, the paunch of his belly jutted out over his belt, and you could make the ornate American eagle buckle at his waist as he bent down towards you. He was unable to stop himself from flicking one of the hard nipples that protruded through your wet tee-shirt as he muttered, in a low voice.
“They gotcha there, huh Twitch? Gotcha good.”
Elvis extended his hand to help you, the mud squelching beneath you as you let him pull you off the grass, scowling and groaning inwardly as you looked over at the audience composed of every single student of Ruth’s 4th grade Hebrew class, most of their mothers and some of their fathers. Ida was a few steps behind Elvis, a confused expression on her face as she called the kids to come dry off and get ready to eat, then padded over to where you and Elvis stood. His blue eyes danced with mirth as you pulled your shirt down, only to notice that this just made your nipples and areolas even more visible and you gave up, letting the wet yellow cloth cling to your body.
You heard Natalia’s light Russian accent asking someone else on the patio if that was Elvis Presley talking to Becky, at the same time your uncle was asking Jerry if he liked being an accountant in Lew’s firm. You wondered if you had fallen and hit your hard too hard and were having some sort of out-of-body experience, as you rubbed the muddy spot on the back of your hair and speechlessly stared at Elvis.
“What are you doing here?” You managed to squeak out, covering you breasts with your left arm.
Elvis opened his mouth to answer, but was interrupted by your aunt’s hand on his shoulder, as she was introduced herself and you watched Elvis respond, telling her “Hi, I’m Elvis Presley,” as if he were just a random, unknown stranger, to which Ida responded by immediately blushing and cooed “Oh my, so you are! What a gentleman running out here to help Rebecca up….Becky, where are your manners? Did you thank Mr. Presley?”
“Elvis - please ma’am…”
“Oh, wow, sure, well thank Mr. Elvis… I …my… I mean I…. Elvis I’m so glad you came to our house, you are so welcome, you know, Danny is actually still at the radio station… Becky, dear, why don’t you go change —- maybe you were supposed to meet him there? But it doesn’t matter, let me get you a drink.” Ida’s small frame handily guided Elvis towards the punch as she paused to yell at some of the women’ whispering on the patio.
“My son is a radio DJ, Marjorie, so of course important artistes are always stopping by, so you can quit your jabbering and come say hello if you want…..”
She then returned her attention to Elvis, who was politely waiting for a chance to talk as he looked back over his shoulder at you.
“You see, I didn’t realize you were coming, who tells their mother anything these days? But of course, it’s the last day of summer and we always throw a fun Summer Shabbat party for the families in our niece’s daughter’s Hebrew class, what with the water games and the hot dogs and the ice cream… here, please have some punch, and I’ll go call Danny,” she continued, leaving Elvis at the punch bowl as some of the mother’s began to circle around him and introduce themselves.
You laughed and shook your head, glaring at Elvis, before walking towards the living room sliding door. You could hear Saul’s voice rise above some of the others talking. “Elvis? No, that’s Cheryl’s husband Lew, isn’t it? What? …. well that explains why he didn’t have the ice cream cake.” As you walked through the living room towards the back of your house, you saw Lew let himself into the house, carrying a Dairy Queen cake.
————————————————
After taking the quickest shower in the history of showers, you dried your hair and stood in your closet agonizing over what to wear. You could not suppress the giddy, heated excitement you feel in your chest, even as you tell yourself what a bastard Elvis had been. Don’t look to excited to see him, do not get dressed up. But then there you are, smiling and woozily trying to decide if you liked the lacy, beige underwear you were wearing.
Throwing back your head, you swore at the ceiling. “FUCK! Fuck fuck fuck.” Then you saw it, at the back of your closet, the red kimono mini-dress your best friend Cherie had bought you for your birthday last year. You couldn’t wear a bra with it, the v-neck was too deep. You had laughed, vowing that you could never wear it because of how low it was. In the throes of desperation you settled on this choice, twirling in the mirror, the feel of the silky fabric was soft and exciting. You shiver, then put on a pair of birks and some simple make-up, just a little flourish. Mascara, neutral eye shadow and lip gloss. Taking a deep breath, and a roll on of the only perfume-like item you currently own, a lavender oil mix, you will yourself to walk out to the back yard and join the party.
Walking down the hallway from the bedrooms, you realize people have migrated inside and are milling about the living room as well as the patio. You bump into Jerry, and you grab his arm while you survey the rest of the party. Most of the kids are outside, but Ruth catches your eye and leaves her friends to run inside. Elvis is across the living room, toward the dining table, cornered by three Hebrew school moms.
“What the fuck, Jerry?”
Jerry looks you up-and-down and says “Wow,” then startles away from your at the sound of a loud cough, and he look towards Elvis, whose sunglasses have turned in your direction. Jerry gives you a deer-in-headlights expression, as he starts to mumble something about how they were in town for important business, and how he’s sorry, he didn’t know you had a kid and family or that they’d be crashing a party. You nod, listening, as you watch your cousin Danny run in, his long brown hair swaying behind him as he makes a beeline to his mother, who is drinking some punch that may or may not be spiked and laughing as she talks with some of the other bubbies from shul who may or may not have grandchildren at this party. You watch Danny whisper something to Ida as she starts to try and bring him over to Elvis. Elvis. Elvis. Who, at the same time, has excused himself from the group of blushing giddy moms and is moving in the opposite direction towards you.
You cannot look away as he stalks over, his eyes move up and down your frame as a grin spreads across his mouth and he shakes his head. Elvis joins you, slapping Jerry’s shoulder while he orders his friend to go get everyone punch, his gaze never leaving your body. Indeed, his eyes settle on your bust and get stuck there, admiring the work your dress is doing to defy gravity and physics and stay bound by the drawstring at the waist of the mini-dress. The silk fabric of the long, bell sleeves feels light and indulgent as you bring your hand up to run your fingers through your hair. Elvis smacks his lips, and exhales, and you cannot take his intense, indecent glare any longer, you feel as though your ribcage is going to jump out of your chest, or you might combust from the bonfire brewing in your belly, so you narrow your eyes and clear your throat.
“Mr. Presley.” You jut out your chin and cross your arms.
Elvis’ lips spread into a devilish grin. “My daddy’s Mr. Presley, honey, you can call me baby.” He learns forward and whispers in your ear. “I mean, after all, we have seen each other ——“
You try to hold a scowl, fighting the tremor you feel between your legs and the blush forming on your cheeks as his eyes move over you, reminding you he knows exactly what you look like under that red dress. Before he finishes saying the word naked, however, you hear Ida’s unmistakable loud gasp and look over to see that she Danny are still conferring,
“Wait… Elvis IS Mr. Kishke?” Ida’s mouth is agape, and her voice carries through the crowd as she looks over at you, seeming to take in your proximity to Elvis in a new realization.
You are not blushing, no, rather, your entire chest and face have become the same deep red color of your dress and you reflexively cover your face with your hands as you see some of the other adults snort or gulp, and shake their head as they look at you and chuckle.
Elvis leans towards you, a bewildered smile settling on his lips as he looks around the room. “What’s a KISH kah?”
“It’s a big, fat yucky sausage.” You hear Ruth’s voice and lower your hands to see her standing near you both, smiling, completely unaware of the innuendo.
A deep laugh belts out of Elvis’ belly, following by more gasps and whispers and laughs around the room, all eyes are now on you, and you bend your face further into your hands, shaking your head, wondering what you did to deserve this level of public humiliation. Meanwhile Ida’s hand goes to her face as she realizes that all the adults probably have some sense that what this exchange means. She mouths “Sorry bubela,” and then nervously walks over to a group of people asking if anyone needs another drink trying to change the conversation, yet distractedly looking back over in your direction. Danny shirks his shoulders and turns to get some grub.
Ruth’s voice pipes up again, at your elbow. “Why are you turning so red Mama?”
You try to shake off the intense feelings of shame coursing through your entire being, laugh, and give her a hug, pulling her into your side for a moment. “Oh, no reason, baby, Aunt Ida’s just so loud, isn’t she? Makes me a little self conscious.”
Ruth nods her head, then looks up at Elvis, motionless beside you, his eyes sparkling.
“Are you really Elvis Presley?” She asks, as her arm winds around you and her head leans into your bare leg. Elvis bends down in front of her, pushing up his glasses. “Nah, I’m Elton John, people make that mistake all the time though.” His lips part to reveal his gleaming white teeth as he beams, watching Ruth giggle.
“No you’re not. You’re Elvis. I’ve seen you on TV.”
“Oh? You mama let’s you watch that junk on TV?”
Ruth nods, her grip on your leg loosens a but. “Oh, yeah, well she’s probably your biggest—” you put your hand over Ruth’s mouth as you realize what she’s about to say, but it’s too late, Elvis, still on his haunches at Ruth’s eye level, looks up at you and winks, a self-satisfied smirk and a gleam in his eyes.
“Huh…” is all he says. “Well, I’m a pretty big fan of your mama’s.”
You give him the look of death. “Hey now, baby, what do you say—“
Ruth interrupts you, looking at Elvis. “Why would you want to be Mr. Kishke? Is it like being Mr. Clean, from the TV ads?”
He laughs again, “Well, not exactly…”
You pull Ruth’s arm from around your leg, and tell her to go get some food. Elvis stands, steps closer to you.
“Hey… Mr. Kishke, huh?”
You look down, shaking your head, crossing your arms under your breasts, which has the effect of pushing them out a little more in the v-neck. “Stop.”
“What? Think you’d be happier ta see me.”
“Why’s that? If anything, I’m shocked you think I’d want to see you at all. I’m actually at a loss as to why you’re even here?”
Elvis’ index finger traces the edge of your v-neck. “That why you went and got all gussied up? To show me how much you don’t wanna see me?”
You swat his hand away and snort. “We’re having guests over for Shabbat, this is the outfit I planned out this morning, to change into after the water fight…. You must be one of those folks who drive by every beautifully landscaped house thinking, ‘oh, they must be expecting me.’ I wanted to look nice just for me, has nothing to do with you.”
Elvis leans in to whisper in your ear, and you cannot help the gasp that escapes your lips as you feel his warm breath on your neck, and his hand on your waist. “Sure honey… but you should know for next time that I like bright red lipstick, as flashy as I can get it ….woulda suited ya better.”
You step back, thrown off and befuddled and trying to think of a smart retort, but you’re interrupted by a clutch of other moms who join you, and Elvis steps aside to make room, breaking your gaze and your train of thought. You smile at them, flustered and suddenly embarrassed by Elvis’ presence and what these other, happily married, women must be thinking.
“Becky,” Patty says in a high, fake voice, slipping her hand through your arm as if you were the best of friends. Your have spoken maybe three words to this woman. She turns to look at Elvis. “Wontcha introduce us to yer friend?”
The others, Margie and Linda, giggle and bat their eyes at Elvis, who cocks his chin forward and rests his left hand at his hips, extending his right hand to bring each women’s hand to his mouth, introducing himself by his full name to each one, “Why, howdy, miss, I’m Elvis Presley,” as he kisses their hands. His affect is more akin to a stranger at the debutante’s ball, rather than the most famous man in the world crashing your annual Summer Shabbat night.
Inhaling and plastering a placid smile on your face, you spend the next fifteen minutes nodding awkwardly as you get pushed to the back of the crowd that gravitates around Elvis, and you are stuck on the outskirts watching Elvis make small talk with these parents who gather around him, as Summer Shabbat slowly became Elvis Shabbat. Ida brings him a plate of food, inviting him to sit on the couch, and it did not take her much to coax him into telling the group about his recent fundraiser concerts in Jackson for victims of the recent tornado, explaining vaguely how he had come back to finish up some important business for the benefit, and figured he might as well stop by his friend Becky’s house. The way he emphasized the word friend and winked at you as he said it made you want to push through the group and strangle him there and then.
But you smile, clenching your fists as your nails form little half moons on the inside of your palm. His explanation that at first he’d thought you were just another groupie trying to crash the after party, before he realized you were there with your brother (your cousin you mentally corrected him), made you blush and grin even wider with a forced chuckle, as he said how you’d impressed him as the most charming and welcoming person he’d ever met in Jackson. You were going to show him how charming you really were when you kicked his ass out of your house as soon as everyone left.
————————————————
The kids, in an assorted stages of dressed from still damp and in swim trunks to dried off and dressed, began to loose their steam. The giggly running back and forth through the house began to slow, and families began to say good night and make their exit, taking turns as they waited to shake Elvis’ hand and telling him what big fans they were. Now Elvis was standing by the door, saying good night to people with Ida as if he were the co-host as they left. Watching from the kitchen, your mouth full of potato salad, you rolled your eyes as Lew told Elvis how much his music meant to him, tears welling in his eyes, his arm squeezing his wife, and then sighing out with pride as Elvis brought him in for a bear hug and then drew Cheryl in for a long kiss on the lips.
“Ughhh,” you moaned, and went to grab a second beer from the fridge and slipped into the pantry closet to drink it alone. Jolting when the door opened, you whisper “thank god its just you,” to Danny, who reveals a wildly grinning Harriet next to him. You finish your beer, and push past her to grab another.
“So, is Elvis your boyfriend now Becky?” Danny teased, Harriet making “ooowwww” and kissy noises behind you.
Looking through the door, you turn and you relax knowing Ruth is far away in the living room, sitting on your Uncle Saul’s lap helping him with a word search. You saw Jerry emerge from the hallway from the back of the house, where he had spent the last hour or so on the phone. He caught your eye, then looked away, he had obviously been avoiding you since you first tried to confront him, and looked guilty every time he saw your imploring expression. He must have known you had wanted to corner him and ask him what the fuck was going on, and why Elvis would show up at your doorstep, basically announcing to your family that you had slept together. You were grateful that subtext seemed to have gone over the kids' heads, at least so far. But the knowing look from their parents told you it was obvious they knew you were a big ol’ slut who slept with rockstars, and gave said rockstars the impression thought they could just show up at your house unexpectedly for sex anytime they were in town.
Jerry plopped down next to Saul, and it only took one question, “So, are you from Jackson,” before Jerry got drawn into your uncle’s history lecture on the Geller family in Jackson, Jews in the Mississippi, his children’s accomplishments, his opinions on Nixon and Watergate, all interspersed with pauses to give Ruth clues on what word to look for next, before adding in a few old jokes.
“Have you heard the one about the farmer in Minsk?” You hear Saul ask Jerry, his eyes glance over to you in the kitchen doorway and he gives you a sympathetic eyebrow raise. Ida is walking through the living room picking up dishes and muttering to herself. You turn back to Harriet and Danny, who is grabbing his own beer bottle and handing one to his sister, his face glinting with mischief.
“Shut up, Danny!” You order in a hushed growl. “He just fucking showed up, the last time I saw him, I slapped him in the face and stormed off. I never thought I’d see him.”
Harriet brushed her hair back, and took a slip of her beer. “Maybe he’s into that.”
You were about to respond, but notice Natalia, the last mom left, has cornered Elvis at the door. Her youngest daughter, Anna, is fidgeting back and forth next to her. Emboldened by the alcohol, you drain your drink, put the bottle down, and march over to get her out the door so you can dispose of Elvis without an audience. As you walk up, you hear Natalia’s Russian accent speaking to Elvis in a conspiratorial whisper.
“You know, if you are looking for company here in Jackson, I have an 18 year old daughter, Genevieve, just graduated high school. I mean, Becky is sweet, but she’s almost thirty and —— ”
She stops when she feels your hand on her shoulder.
“SO good to see you Natalia,” you give her a tight hug. “Thanks for coming to Summer Shabbat…. It’s so fun to kick off the summer with y’all… only two more days until camp. Ruthie, baby, come say goodbye to our friends.”
You see Elvis pursing his lips in an amused grin, as he leans past you and tells Natalia “Goodnight honey, get the feeling I’d really like it in Leningrad,” holding that kiss with her for one, two three, four five oh give me a break seconds, while you aggressively open the door.
Elvis chuckles as he watches you shut it tightly, then roll into it, looking at him sideways, your hand ruffling Ruth’s head. “Hey baby, go help Ida clean up, hmmm?”
She looks to you, then at Elvis, then back again, smiling as he winks at her, running to your aunt with a gleeful laugh and a skip. You hear her telling Ida how she can’t believe Elvis Presley is at their house. You lean back against the door, cross your arms, and look around the living room. Saul and Jerry are still deep in a one-sided conversation. You watch your cousins slip outside. Buzzed from the beer, your earlier athletic accomplishments water fighting with the kids, and, if you are honest, Elvis’ proximity, you feel a heightened sense of your own sensuality. Your skin feels alive as you smooth down the thin, silky dress you’re wearing and turn your gaze over at Elvis, leaning against the wall and staring at you with dark eyes through his sunglasses. His lips slightly parted, as if in anticipation.
“Elvis, why are you here?”
He swallows. “I was in town for business.”
You shift, recrossing your arms as you roll your shoulder against the back of the door and turn toward him.
“Mmmhmmm.” You purse your lips, you hate how his knowing smirk makes your core tingle. “But why are you here?” You point at the orange shag carpet below your feet.
“Wanted ta see ya….”
“Did you even wonder if I wanted to see you?”
Elvis inhaled, and looked down, shaking his head.
“Why you always make everythin’ so goddamn difficult? I’m here, you’re home, I can tell you’re happy to see me—”
“Oh, so you can read my mind?”
“Mhmmm” He pouts his lip, raising just his left eyebrow.
“Mmhmm, and what am I thinking?”
Elvis speaks in high falsetto, “Gosh I just wanna kiss that handsome man but I’m embarrassed to in front of all these people?” He laughs at the incredulous expression that spreads over your face, and moves to kiss you. You meet his mouth with your right hand.
“Ha! You are delusional.”
Elvis’ hand moves to rub your shoulder instead. “Am I?”
“Yes.”
You lift your eyebrows, and then push off the door, gathering up some of the glasses on the coffee table. You look back at him, and motion for him to follow you into the kitchen, where you’ll be alone.
“Grab those other glasses and make yourself useful, unless you’ve forgot how to do normal people shit like cleaning up. Clearly forgot how to call people.”
Elvis slaps your bottom with a loud thwap as you load the dishwasher, catching some of your bare butt under your dress. You can sense his wry smirk before you see it, sucking air in through your teeth and slamming the dishwasher shut, then turning to him.
You hit his chest, with a “Not cool, Presley…” and he responds by stepping closer and boxing you in against the kitchen counter. You breath deeply, your cunt clenches involuntarily as you feel a bolt of electricity thrill up your spine.
“So you’re not happy to see me?” There is that lip curl again. Hands on your waist, he shifts his weight forward, you shiver as he crushes you into the counter. “Huh, well, you must really hate me then, if ya spent the week talkin bout lil’ Elvis.” He waggles his eyebrows again.
You blush, “I… umm … I think—”
“Mr. Kishke, though, that’s one I haven’t heard.” He looks down into your bosom, running his right hand along the side of your waist. “You know… I don't show him to every girl I meet?
You roll your eyes. “Ha. Lucky me…” even through the sarcasm, though, you can a feel a flush coming to your cheeks standing at your kitchen sink, talking in whispers with this man about his cock. Specifically, its predilection for you. You feel said cock twitch against you.
“No, really,” he groans, his voice is low and steady. “I know everyone thinks, ‘Oh Elvis Presley, he's some big rock star Casanova….’” He says this last line in high falsetto again. “But really, hand to God,” he smirks as he tells you this, “Lil Elvis, well, he don come out less he feels safe and…. cozy-like….”
You roll your eyes and let out a loud scoff up into his face. “You are unbelievable.”
“S’true, you have to see it to believe it.”
“You should go show it to Ida, pretty sure she wants to see it.”
“She’s definitely been friendlier than you have, think she’d come out ta night with me?”
“I think you’ve definitely got more of a chance with her.” You lean back, and cross your arms to create space between the two of you, breathng deeply. The air catches in your throat for a second as Elvis' right finger tips hit your shoulder, feathering lightly over the top of your arm. He leans into your ear and your eyes close instinctively as you gasp.
“Now, c’mon darlin, don’t be like that. I came all the way down here ta see ya…”
You open your eyes and look up at him, collecting yourself in Elvis’ shadow, his frame is blocking out the kitchen light, and it feels as if you are in your own little world, just the two of you and the kinetic warmth that draws you together. “Thought you said you were already down here for business…?”
Elvis kisses your neck and you exhale through your nose. “Well, yeah… but…I’d be lying,” another kiss to the right side of your neck, left hand rubbing your waist. “If I didn’t tell ya,” he nibbles the top of your ear. “Tha prospect of seeing you again,” his breath cools the wet spot he left at the base of your neck and you shiver. “Didn’t halfway get my motor running t’wards Jackson town….”
You sigh, you are a weak sack of flesh and bones, and the heady mix of Elvis’ soft lips on your neck, the delicate, needy caress of his fingers, the way his baritone voice reverberates through your body..uhhhh.. it all provokes an insistent tremor through you. You see him smile as he feels this, and moves both hands to your waist. You puff up your bosom as you breath again, and try to regain control of this situation. Hands still on his chest, you rub the fabric of his half buttoned white dress shirt, and then push him back a step, looking into up into his eyes, puzzled.
“Ok, but so, what’s changed? You got all weird when you found out I have a kid, like suddenly I was chopped liver, and then you tried to pay me off with money… do you have any idea how…. how cheap it feels to have someone hand you $500 after they just spent the night inside you?” You stutter, whispering angrily under your breath.
Elvis’ eyes search your face, and he traces his right index finger over his lips in a serious posture, left hand now in his back pocket, his weight shifted forward.
Looking around, you realize the fact that no one else has come into the kitchen means everyone probably knows you both are in here talking and they want to give you the space. You push him back further, suddenly very self-conscious.
“Honey you caught me off guard the other morning…you know, half asleep, tired as a mule after performin’ three concerts, THREE, in two days… an I hardly got any sleep on account of your insatiable appetite for kish ie kay or whatever ya Hebrew word for big ol sausage is…”
His serious expression turns into a teasing grin and his eyes light up as you kick his shin and mutter “it’s kishke and technically Yiddish " under your breath with a huff.
“Look … I’m from Tupelo an’ Memphis, women been having babies since they were 13, 14, 15 or 16 all my life. I reckon I’ve been with more women who had babies at home than I even know, considering some of the things we used to get up to on tour in those early days.” Elvis waggles his eye brows and you shake your head again, smoothing and pulling at the edge of your dress.
“And as for the money, s’not like that… wasn’t tryin to treat ya like a … lady of tha night, so ta speak…” he moves closer again, rubbing your waist, speaking softly, almost babyish “That’s jus how I am…. always wantin’ ta give yittle ol gifts ta folks I like… jewelry, cars, mink coats, and, well if he don't have anything nice, I give ‘em my wallet. Why, just yesterday, I gave a Vietnam vet I drove by in downtown Memphis $300. And I can tell you what, he didn't throw it back in my face like some folks, no, he said thank you very much Mr. Presley. God bless you and God bless America.”
“He did not say that…”
Elvis grinned and ran his hand through his hair again, then took off his sunglasses and cleaned them on his shirt. “Well, was the gist of what he said.”
“Ok, well there are two things you need to know. First, I’m not interested in gifts, cash or otherwise, if I’m with someone, it’s because I like them… so … there’s that. Second, this is just more of a public service announcement on behalf of hall women you may ever encounter, it is TOTALLY different to give a veteran on the street money than it is to give a WOMAN money after you spent the night fucking her brains out…”
“You swear like a goddamn sailor … know that? God, first words I ever heard come out of this pretty innocent little mouth were…” Elvis brushed your lips with his thumb. “…. Fucking cocksucker, wasn’t it?” He pushes back into you, being near him has become an ongoing game of tug-a-war you seem to be forever playing. His warm lips on yours and you shake your head, arms snaking their way around his neck.
“I can’t believe,” you talk into his lips, then tear yourself off him. “I can’t believe you just showed up at my house and now here I am kissing you in my kitchen when anyone could walk in here and…” you kiss him again, savoring how his eyes close and a stifled “oh baby…” comes out of his mouth, as you continue talking into his cheek. “An everyone probably knows what we’re doing.” You drop your arms, and push him off you. “Shit, including Ruth… look, I don’t know what the f—”
“Shhh, shhh, s’ok honey,” his hands are back at your sides, tracing up and up. “Look, why don’t you go tuck your baby into bed and we can go get a room somewhere alone, in a ho—“
“Elvis.” You say firmly. “I’m not doing that. I’m so, so embarrassed, I can’t imagine what Saul and Ida are thinking.”
“I think they like me…” his eyes meets yours, where he sees a skittish colt retreating from his charm. “Hey, it’s all good, baby, it’s all good. Les jus hang loose … Jerry an I’ll get out ya hair, head back ta Memphis, less’n you think you’d have dinner with me tomarra…”
You look down, you can’t help smiling. “Maybe… ok…. And…you can stay for a little while longer tonight… Ida’d probably be happy if you played us some music before you go find a hotel…”
You nod, squeezing his shoulder as you move around him, and take his hand, leading him towards the living room and onto the floral velveteen couch across from Jerry and Saul. Your uncle nods but does not pause, he’s now moved on to regaling Jerry with stories about his WWII Naval squadron in the Pacific. Elvis sits down and pulls you onto his lap, but you leap up, seeing Ruth and Ida walking down the hall from the bedrooms. Ruth is in her pajamas, and she runs over to you, as Danny and Harriet stumble in through the patio door in a cloud of dank marijuana smoke, and sit in the big, brown velour couch on the other wall, whispering and giggling with each other as they make eye contact with you. The room is quiet as Ruth stands behind you, peeking around your waist to look at Elvis.
“So you really are Elvis Presley?” She asks again, a shy grin revealing her toothy smile.
Elvis leans in. “Go ahead, pinch my nose…” she does and shrieks when he yells out in mock agony.
Ida laughs, and sits on the other side of the couch.
“Ok, Ruthie, let Mr. Presley be… oy vey, what excitement” Ida exclaims with a sigh.
She looks up at you, searching your face for any signal of what’s next, you imagine she’s contemplating what the proper etiquette is for entertaining rock stars who drop by unexpectedly when you’re hosting an end-of-the-school-year party for nine year-olds. You smile warmly, shrugging, and pivot around, patting Ruth on the bottom to go sit on Ida’s lap.
You pace to the edge of the room, announcing, “We’ve all been entertaining the great Elvis Presley, maybe we can persuade him to entertain us?”
He smiles, and shakes his head, but you grin, and go grab your guitar from your closet. Walking back in, you can hear Danny asking Elvis about his recent tour, wondering how long he was in town and mentioning how cool it would be if he’d come do an interview with him at the radio station. Saul and Ida pipe in tell Elvis how great Danny is as a DJ.
“C’mon you guys.” You shoot them a stern look as you put the guitar in Elvis lap, and sit down near him on the couch, scooching a little away toward Ruth, who slips off Idas lap and between your legs on the ground, looking up at Elvis in curious awe. “Please ignore them, they seem to have forgotten that you are our guest, not a circus monkey they can parade around town.”
Elvis looked at the guitar in his lap, as his low, playful baritone voice sending fire crackers up your center. “Says tha women who jus order me ta sing?”
“Ha, well, we took you,” you turn your head towards Jerry, “and your entourage in, unexpectedly, by the way, and welcomed you an fed y’all…”
“So you want me to sing for my supper?”
Ruth let out a laugh, and Elvis winked at her. You smooth Ruth’s dark, straight hair, steadying yourself as you return Elvis’ challenging gaze.
“Becky, if the man doesn’t want to, don’t push him,” Ida chimes in, apologetically, rubbing your shoulder. “He’s had a long drive and all his business to attend to, why it’s just nice to have him over.. and it doesn’t matter if his visit was unexpected, because you’re always welcome here, Mr. Presley, any friend of Becky’s is a friend of ours.”
Elvis grins, and picks up the guitar. “Why, that’s mighty hospitable of you ma’am, you make me feel right at home… an please…please call me Elvis,” and he winks at Ida, and you grimace as a feminine peal of laughter rings out through the room. You hear Saul whisper to Jerry that he might be jealous of his boss over there, “my Ida’s quite the looker after all these years.”
Ruth looks back over at Elvis. “Oh please, play us a song…”
“Alright baby, but what do ya think, should we get your mama to help me?” You shake your head, as Ruth laughs, leaning back into you and looking up at your face.
“Yes! No one sings like mom, she knows the Robin Hood sing, and all the summer camp songs, and Puff the Magic Dragon…”
Elvis strums the guitar, tuning a few strings, then looking over at you. “Hmm, well, I don’t know the Robin Hood song, maybe you oughta sing that one for us first, huh Becky Butt?”
You blush, as you hear your cousins try to muffle chuckles.
Ruth cracks up, and looks back up at you. “Becky Butt? Becky Butt! Ha! Yeah…. you gotta sing that for us, Becky Butt.”
Glowering, you shoot Elvis one of many looks of death you're doling out tonight , as he hands you the guitar with the most detestable smug look. You mumble how the sound track for Robin Hood has been playing non-stop in rotation with some other favorites in this house since Ruth got a book and LP set for Chanukkah a few years ago. You sigh, looking around as you start to strum, then down at Ruth as you begin to sing.

Love,
It seems like only yesterday
You were just a child at play
Now you're all grown up inside of me
Oh, how fast those moments flee
Once we watched a lazy world go by
Now the days seem to fly
Life is brief, but when it's gone
Love goes on and on
Mmm mmmm mmmmm
Love will live
Mmm mmmm mmmmm
Love will last
Mmm mmmm mmmmm
Love goes on and on and on
Once we watched a lazy world go by
Now the days seem to fly
Life is brief, but when it's gone
Love goes on and on…..
Finishing, you playfully rub the bottom of your guitar over Ruth’s head. Jerry is looking at you with something like attentive awe in his eyes, before he catches Elvis’ glare, and straightens up. You feel Elvis rub your knee, his lips parted in wonder and you blush again, and look down at Ruth, whose hands hit the top of your feet as she looks over at Elvis.
“Yeah, Becky Butt here is a real whiz at music,”
“Ruth! Don’t call your mama that….” Ida calls out with a swift bop to Ruth’s head, but then adds. “But it’s true, of course, Rebecca was always the family musician.”
“Huh, yeah, I kin tell,” Elvis drawls, nodding at Ruth. “Can’t expect me to follow that, s’in my contract, I only perform after acts that make me look good…ain’t that right Jerry?” He looks over at his friend, then at Ruth. Jerry stutters, but before he can answer, you bump Elvis’ chest with the guitar as you hand it back to him
“Oh no you don’t…You’re not getting off the hook with a wink and some charm here, Presley… if you review your contract, I believe you’ll find a clause requiring Puff the Magic Dragon.” You look down at Ruth. “Then its bed time, baby… k? it’s past nine….”
“Oh but Becky Butt—” Ruth whines, giggling, but cannot help the yawn that sneaks out.
Elvis takes your mind off how much you want to kill him for calling you Becky Butt in front of everyone, and starts plucking chords, letting you all know, “this isn’t on my regular set, s’only reserved for more VIP programs for my my most demanding fan, ma lil girl, Lisa Marie… she’s about yer age, darlin, give or take a decade… seven goin’ on sassy…”
He chuckles, then begins to sing, in a sweet, high voice, the words to Puff the Magic Dragon. You almost cannot believe this is happening, watching Elvis close his eyes and go into himself as he softly sings Puff the Magic Dragon in an earnest high voice. This may be one of the most surreal experiences you have ever had. In his rich voice, the words have more depth, the sound is more full, and is like a completely different bluesy, country song. Elvis opens his eyes after the second line, bends his chin forward and earnestly sings to Ruth, then you, and then turns to sing to the others in the room. You feel your heart rise up to the top of your chest and your pulse quickens, while heat radiates down through your tummy and up through your throat and you rub your neck, hoping no one can tell how affected you are by the melody rumbling out over the couch and through the living room. The vibe is comfy and cozy, and you notice Ida is swaying back and forth, then rubbing the back of your neck and squeezing Ruth’s shoulder. Saul gives you a perplexed, amused look. After the first chorus, Elvis continues the chords for an extra stanza, and nods towards over in your direction.
“Think I need some help, this is a harmony, ain’t it?” You shake your head, but Ruth hits your shin, smiling up at Elvis. “C’mon now honey, don’t leave a man hangin’…”
You sigh, breathing, before you raise your voice and sing the alto harmony as Elvis’ brings his voice down to a lower, baritone melody. After the second verse, you bring Ruth up to your lap, and sing into her shoulder, pinching her side as she giggles, until she joins in, and Elvis looks around the room, calling out “Alright, now everybody.” A round of applause and a few whoops from Harriet come after the last Honah Lee. You swear you see Jerry quickly wipe his eyes, and you kiss Ruth, unprepared as she turns to Elvis and asks him if he is your boyfriend.
“Ok, time for bed!”
“Wait mom, but is he?”
Harriet bursts out a very stoned guffaw, and you shoot her a warning look, which is followed by a push from Danny.
Elvis’ smiles wide, then bites his lips, raising his eye brows at you, a wistful look taking over as he watches you stutter your response, lifting Ruth up in front of you as you stand up.
“No, baby, we only just met—“
“But then why is he here?” She asks, then turns to Elvis. “Are you staying for a sleep over?”
You gasp, and shake your head. “No, Ruth, Mr. Presley lives up in Memphis and —“
“But it’s past 9, you aren’t driving back to Memphis tonight?” Ida gasps, scooting closer to Elvis now that you have stood up and are walking Ruth towards the hallway.
“Well, ma’am, actually” he looks you squarely in the eye, and you think of his invitation for tomorrow. “I reckon Jerry and I will go find a hotel—“
“At this hour? Without a reservation - why they’ll gauge your eyes out! No, you must stay here.” Your jaw drops as you watch Ida offer the basement guest room, Danny’s old room. Jerry begins to chime in and is about to explain that he already made a reservation but before he can, Elvis coughs loudly and tells your aunt if she is sure, thow very much obliged he is to stay the night. A mix of shock and horror overwhelm your face, you almost cannot respond as your cousins get up and make their farewells for the night, and you vaguely hear Elvis offer to do an interview at the radio station tomorrow afternoon. You go through the motions of hugging Danny and Harriet, while Ruth bounces around and takes Elvis by the hand, telling him that if he wants her to do his nails during the sleep over she knows how.
You look at Jerry, crossing your arms.
“So, will you be bunking with Elvis in the basement.” You notice him pause, and look past you, to see Elvis do a slit neck motion under his chin.
“Uhh, um, actually, I’ll be good on the couch, or the floor.” Jerry offers, standing up and looking around.
“No, a man can’t sleep on the floor.” Saul chimes in.
You shake your head. “I really think you guys would be more comfortable at a hotel, with your own space. I know you can afford it.”
Ida walks over and hits you, giving you a knowing look. Oh god, is your aunt trying to get you laid. In her house? You cannot help but assume this is the case, with the way she pinches you expectantly and loudly intones. “Rebecca Grace Hoffman, don’t be rude!”
Elvis’ face lights up with a smirk, and you can almost feel the sympathy emanating from Jerry’s eyes.
“Fine, Jerry can sleep in my bed, and I’ll sleep with Ruth.”
You see Jerry’s eyes flit over to Elvis, who purses his lips and gives the most subtle, almost still, head jerk. Jerry knows Elvis’ possessive nature enough to know this would be out of the question. In the sheets of one of his women? Free to look around her underwear draws? Jerry would never do this, but it would probably be the first thing his boss thinks of because it would be the first he would do. He also knows Elvis wants to be in your bed, but he is not sure if you will be bold enough to do this. You watch these men exchange looks, and then sigh, exasperatedly.
“Ok, well, I’ll go put Ruth to sleep in my bed, and she can sleep with me, and Jerry can sleep in her bed.”
Ruth lets go of Elvis' hand and runs over to Jerry, pulling him down the hall and telling him, “My bed is way better than the couch, its pink, and I have, gosh, twenty stuffies to keep you company.”
Elvis chuckles, walking over to slap Jerry on the back before Ruth leads him to the back of the house. “Good, you’ll feel right at home, just like his room back in Memphis.”
Saul pats you on the shoulder, as he shakes Elvis’ hand and says good night. Ida goes to get Elvis and Jerry clean towels, and you take the moment alone to hit Elvis in the chest.
“This is unbelievable… why did you agree too stay here ? I’m gonna go get Ruth into bed, and then I have half a mind to run you out of this house…”
“Now, Rebecca Becky Butt Grace Hoffman, don’t be rude!” Elvis says, swatting your behind as you turn to walk back to the bedrooms.
You turn around, fists clenched, and walk back up to him, pointing your finger up in his face.
“Now, get this straight. I don’t know what you think is going to happen, but I will not be having sex with you tonight. In this house. Where I live. Where my family can hear us.” Elvis’ lip curls up as your talk, and he looks out toward his car through the front window, and then around at the back patio. “Not in the house, not in your car, not nowhere. Get this, mister?” Elvis tries to jokingly bite your wagging finger as it gets close to his mouth, and you grimace. “Ughhh…actually, I’m never having sex with you again. OK?”
His simpering smirk is too much, and his eyes are a dazzling blue dancing with mirth as Elvis pushes down his sunglasses and whispers in your ear. “Ya know, for someone so sure they don’t wanna get lucky, ya talk about it a lot.”
You squeal, clench your fist, and turn around again, taking several big breaths as you ignore the sound of Elvis Presley’s distinct chuckles echoing down the long hall way to the back of the house. Ida finds you at the back of the hall, carrying towels she is taking to Elvis.
“Becky, that man clearly drove down here from Memphis just to see you. He likes you. The way he looks at you… ooh girlchik, he hasn’t taken his eyes off you all night. So whatever went down, don’t be too hard on him… all men can be idiots, they can’t help it, especially men like that… ”
You sigh, and Ida pats your shoulder again, while you go pull Ruth away from introducing Jerry to all her stuffies, asking if he needs anything before pushing her into the bathroom to brush her teeth, then tucking her into your bed. You have been reading The Hobbit together, but its 10:15 pm, and Ruth’s eyes are now half closed as you rub her back, so you turn the overhead light off and talk softly with her, as she asks you again why Elvis came to visit and whether you can take him and Jerry for ice cream tomorrow.
“Time to sleep, my little kindela…” You whisper, as you sit next to Ruth on the bed. You had just spent all of fourth grade bribing her with an extra allowance and treats to get through the night in her own bed, trying to train her out of the habit of sneaking into bed with you in the middle of the night. Then Elvis Presley walks into your house, and all the rules get thrown out the window.
“Mom, if Elvis isn’t your boyfriend, then what is he?” Ruth yawned. “You know he said he has a whole room of stuffies at his house, and alot of Disney movies on film.” Her brown eyes squeezed shut with another yawn, it was contagious and you follow suit. … “Thet he shows on a projector in his basement….” Her eyelids closed, and you smoothed her back.
“Hmmm… that does sound pretty nifty… Elvis is just a… friend… I promise I’ll answer all your questions tomorrow, ok? We’ll get you packed up for summer camp and maybe go get ice cream, just us, how does that sound?”
You think about her question, whether Elvis is your boyfriend, and you have no idea how to explain the nuances of casual adult relationships. With rock stars. Ruth was three when you moved in with Mark for a few years, the most serious boyfriend you have had. Ruth remembers him pretty well, considering she was five when you split, and is still pretty friendly with him whenever you run into him at temple or around town with his wife and their two kids. Then there was Bruce, who Ruth vigorously disliked and made sure both you, and he, were aware of her disapproval. That relationship lasted six months, and you know it had a lot to do with the fact that Bruce was stiff around kids, almost the exact opposite of Mark, who wanted to make a home together have three or four more kids, and play out your days like a hipper, groovier Ozzie and Harriet. The home life Mark had grown to desire had taken you by surprise, considering you had bonded over your love of folk music, counter culture and progressive politics. You weren’t sure what you wanted, but you were pretty sure it involved some sort of livelihood of your own, and you still felt like you weren’t a grown up yet sometimes because you hadn’t figured out what you were supposed to be doing with your life. Elvis clearly had never grown up, and you could see why Ruth liked him, he was playful, funny and had no problem making fun of you, which was often your daughter’s social role.
“Sounds goooo” Eyes closed, Ruth’s voice trails off, and you continued to sooth her back, singing softly one of your favorite Disney songs from Dumbo, “Baby Mine,” which, if had Ruth been fully awake and alert, she would have told you she was too old for this song. However, in her twilight state, she smiles and her eyes droop completely, and you rolled your thumb down the middle of her nose, an old trick that kept her shutting her eyes if she tried to open them.
————————————————
Unbeknownst to you, Elvis had wondered down the dim, brown corridor after Ida had handed him a stack of towels and said good night with a friendly, knowing smile. Now he stood at the corner of the hallway watching you. Pulling his hand through his hair, he shifted and guiltily looked over his shoulder to see if anyone was behind him. He felt like a voyeur viewing an intimate moment between you and your daughter, but he couldn’t look away. Your breasts had been bulging out of the v-neck of your dress all night singing a silent siren song to him and he had wanted to be as close to them as possible. The sight of them resting over the top of the guitar, heaving up and down while you sang had completely done him in, and he was fairly certain you were the only person in the room that night unaware of how radiant and sexy you looked. Elvis found your aloof and self conscious demeanor captivating, he felt completely at ease when he was near you, and the sour or terse words that came out of your mouth didn’t matter, because you couldn’t conceal the affectionate gleam dancing behind your large, brown eyes that beckoned him forward.
Elvis had fought the urge to pull you on to his lap and kiss you to kingdom come in front of your whole family after you sang that silly Robin Hood song. Jerry, he realized he should say good night to Jerry, and so he pulled himself away from his view of you tucking Ruth into bed, and knocked on the door to Ruth’s bedroom. Bare feet hanging over the edge of a pink twin bed, with a quilted cover, Elvis couldn’t help but chuckle at the sight of Jerry trying to get comfortable in Ruth’s bed as he checked in, ignoring Jerry’s exasperated look as he mumbled that he had prepaid $500 for two large hotel rooms where they could have been instead.
You were closing the door to your bedroom as softly and quietly as you could when you felt Elvis’ warm hand cupping the roundness of your bottom through your dress, then moving lower, to go under the cloth and rub your butt through your underwear. Jerking forward, you shake your head, seeing him, towels bunched under his jacket, your snarky retort silenced by his index finger over your lips.
“Shhhh… hey, can you come tuck me in?” He whispers, eyes dancing.
You grab the towels out of his arm pit, and carry them in front of your chest, leading him to the basement stairs at the back of the kitchen, whispering back. “Mhmm, a good knock to your head should do the trick… ”
“Sounds fun.” Elvis slaps you butt again, grinning like an idiot as you quicken your pace ahead of him.
You hear him close the door at the top of the stairs, the room is lit by a few soft table lamps around the finished basement. Your bare feet hit the puce green shag carpet, it was soft between your toes and you got your bearing. Dropping the towels on the dresser, you turn to Elvis, arms crossed.
Elvis took off his jacket, hanging it over the edge of the desk chair, before plopping down on the plaid couch against the side wall and spreading his arms across the back of the sofa, patting his knee for you to come sit with him. You shake your head, watching his eye brows go up in a question, seemingly surprised you were not running over to be with him.
“So how did you even find me?”
“Just followed the direction of ma pecker honey,” Elvis looked down at his crotch and then back at you with a goofy smile. “Somehow he just know’d where you’d be.”
“Ugh, my god, how do you ever get dates with lines like that?”
Elvis inhaled, deeply, and stood, striding toward you. “Most women find me charming.”
“I’m beginning to suspect most women are just hanging around waiting for you to empty your wallet,” you say, unable to stop your self from walking backwards into the laundry machine across from the couch as Elvis strode toward you.
Elvis’ hands on are on you, softly rolling his knuckles over the sides of your upper arms, leaning into your ear.
“You're right, baby, I ain’t ever had any skills seducing women…” his breath was on your neck, his hand following slowly, caressing the base of your neck, his mouth over your forehead, taking in the shallow sound of your inhale. “Like when I do this,” his other hand was at your waist. “Or this,” he kissed your forehead, “or this… “ his lips worked their way down along the side of your left eye toward your cheek, as he turned your chin up to meet his mouth. “I’m told it jus leaves em cold…” just before he kisses your mouth, you open your eyes and look up at him with serious, concerned eyes.
“I…. I… don’t … I’m not one of those women who expects money or diamonds or other gifts…that’s not my bag…”
“Ok, baby, I got it… no nice things…just sex…” he lifts you by the waist and sits you on top of the laundry machine, pushing his largesse between your legs.
“Elvis, I’m serious…and, I am NOT having sex with you tonight…”
“S’ok honey, I hate sex, it’d make me feel cheap and easy to have you take advantage of me like this….”
“Listen, I’m serious…”
“Me too …” his kisses on your neck become more fervent and insistent, while his right hand seems to have found its home fondling your left breast. You didn’t even realize your hands had moved up around his neck, gripping the back of his collar. You pull back.
“You have a girlfriend, though right?”
“You didn’t seem to care about the other night…”
“Yeah, well, that was a stupid, rash impulsive decision… with a planned expiration date… I didn’t think I’d see you again, or that you’d be coming here to my house, meeting my kid, going to my cousin’s work….”
Elvis paused, and took a deep breath, holding your eyes with his. “Listen, lil girl, there are probably ‘bout five or six chicks out there at any given time who would claim to be my girlfriend… but they know how it is…”
“And how is it?”
“I gotta be free to have fun….” An impish grin grew as he side this, as if bragging, and you couldn’t help but scowl playfully. “But, look … I’m having fun with you… an I want to keep havin’ fun wit ya… if I’m with a girl, she knows I’m not a one-woman guy…. And they’re ok with that… my intentions are honorable, and they know I’ll take care of 'em…. In my line of work, I’m gonna travel a lot, and they know I’m gonna meet people on the road…”
“Is that what I am? Some easy road gal?”
“Honey,” Elvis kissed the other side of your neck. “Ain’t nothin’ bout you easy… trust me…”
You push his chest out. “Ok, but what is this then?” Elvis’ hands move to rub up and down the top of your thighs and round over your knees, as your legs hanging off the top of the laundry machine on either side of his waist.
“Look, I like you, I can tell you like me… so let’s just have fun…” You gasp as his hands work their way under your dress to the elastic band of your underwear, his right hand palming the warm moisture wicking its way through the cotton cloth.
You moan out and bolt forward as his fingers probe further under the center strip of your panties, working their way under the fabric.
“Elvis, I can’t…” you moan out again as his forefinger slips over the pubic hair feathering your lower lips. “I don’t want anyone to hear us having sex, to know that I did this down here…”
“S’ok, honey, we’ll just be real quiet… no one will know…”
You bite your lip and grip his shoulder blade as you jerk forward when his index finger finds your clit, stifling a louder moan.
Elvis smiles on your nose, his forehead bending to meet yours, his breath is stilted. “Ya know, my bed room in Graceland is fully sound proofed…” his fingers move out to the top of your under wear, and pull them.
“I don’t know if I can let you do this here…”
“Now..” Elvis lowers himself on his haunches as he pulls your panties all the way off your feet. “Don’t be rude,” he kisses your inner thigh, first on the left side, “Rebecca,” then your right side, “Grace….” Then he flips the edge of your skirt up to reveal your bare waist, pulling your thighs forward so you’re sitting right at the edge of the laundry machine and he’s right at eye level with your pussy. He leans in to kiss the furry folds in front of him, and you throw your head back and a fervent desire takes over, all your concerns about where you are, what you are doing, what anyone might think, they all fade away, all that you care about is Elvis’ hands on your thighs, and the needy ache building up in your core. You gasp loudly, leaning on to your hands as they steady themselves against the cool, enamel of the laundry machine.
“There she is…” he whispers in awe, his fingers slowly parting your sheath, beginning to hum the melody of Amazing Grace “ how sweet the taste… that saved a wretch…” he leaned closer to lick the seam of your cunt, “like me….” He spread you further, sucking his thumb, eyes never leaving your quim, as he brings his slick thumb to rub your button, “ I once was lost…” Elvis moves his thumb to suck your clit with a pop, “but now am found…” and his thumb trails down to the silky, slick space right at your entrance, as his tongue takes over flicking your nub slowly, firmly, insistently, and you feel his humming start again intermittently as he lavs at your clit.
You cover your face as Elvis hums’ reverberate up into your belly. “I can't believe,” you moan into your palm ‘I’m doing this… I told myself I wouldn’t…” You shudder as a another lick tingles your core. “Do this….”
Elvis stops using his tongue on you, and you feel the vibrations of his voice resounding into you, “Now, sshhhh, shhh, what was that?” He brings his thumb over your clit, moving in a rhythmic circle as if coaxing a response, as he turns his ear to your vagina. You laugh and shiver at the sensation of his warm breath on your skin.
“What's that now?” He looks up at you as you run your hand through his black hair, a look of gleeful mischief on his face as he nods, as if listening to your pussy talk to him. “Ya been ignored the last few days?” His voice is now affecting an almost patronizing, babyish tenor. “‘Most days? Ooh uh huh…. don'tcha worry none, Daddy's here, he always takes care a his yittle girl…..”
You slap the side of his head playfully. “Oh my god…. quit playin…’”
He laughs, and returns his attention to your cunt, with a “There now, you heard her, no more playin’ round…time to get down to business…”
Each flutter of his tongue over your nub is more dastardly than the last, inducing a mantra of “oh gods” from you as you feel a burning ache spread through your lower body. Elvis inserts his fingers inside you, and his left hand holds you steady as you squirm with the intense shock waves of the pleasure coiling behind your belly button. Steadying yourself on the back control panel, you laugh when you accidentally hit the start button on the dryer and the machine starts to vibrate and heat up, and you use your hand on Elvis’ head to try and stop his machinations while you jostle to turn it off.
He looks up at you, wiping the mix of his salvia and slick off his mouth with a winsome, happy grin, “Is it me or am I makin’ the earth move?”
“Ha! It’s definitely you!” chuckling, you cup your hands around his face and draw him up to you, tasting your tangy flavor on his lips as you kiss him, giggling, nudging his nose with yours and relishing the sound of him releasing his belt, unbuttoning his pants and letting them drop down. You cannot help but smile at the feeling of his warm, girthy length hitting your thigh. Elvis' hand goes to lead himself inside you, pausing to look at you.
“Goddammit Becky, yer so goddamn beautiful…” you nod and grunt out softly as he pushes inside of you, the breath hitching in your throat as you watch his pupils widen and his mouth contort into the shape of a diamond.
You begin to unbutton his shirt, shaking your head.
“Ahhh… I still can’t believe… I’m doing this… ugHH… I told myself… I would never see you again, and then tonight… I definitely promised myself…HAhhhh… this wouldn’t happen….” You toss his shirt of the floor, and he rolls your dress up, looking down to watch as he enters you again, keeping an easy pace, then looking you in the eyes.
“Oh god.. looOOrrrd … want me to stop?
“Nope,” you groan again, wrapping your legs around as much of his waist as you can manage, your hands are on his shoulders and you undulate your hips forward to meet his gentle, sensual thrusts.”Don’t you dare… it feels… uhhh.. even better…ffffuckkk ….than I remember..”
Elvis mouth tightens in an O and his eyes narrow with intensity. “Uhh… honey… I know.. oh God, Becky… I’ve been thinking of your snug lil mitten since ya slapped my goddamn face the other morning…an AHHHhhh … an ran out on me…”
His cock hits you an angle that sends a charged bolt of electricity through you every. Fucking. Time. And you shudder, gliding forward and holding back your moans as best you can, savoring the sensation with Every. Fucking. Thrust.
“Oh God… don't remind me I did that…” huff, “ though you did talk to me…” you grab him by the back of hs neck, “like a whore…ahhhh… and..” You huff “I wasn’t exactly overjoyed when I first saw you today…”
Elvis kissed your forehead, increasing his pace slightly, but still rocking back and forth casually into you as he spoke and groaned and huffed and moaned. “Yeah, and the way….uhhhh…. you ran off an ….ahhh oh baby…. an threw on this slutty lil dress…” he pulled your dress over your head with a smile and a wink, throwing it over his shoulder. “Ya…unnhhhh… ya really showed me how unwelcome I was….”
You both giggle as you look into each other’s eyes, now fully naked. You pull him closer into you, arms around him, hungrily seeking the warm flesh of his body smushed into yours. Your skin heats up, and your hips sync into a familiar, desperate tempo, and you’ve lost the composure to speak in full sentences. Instead, you communicate via the staccato sound of each other’s panting breath and groans. Elvis bellows out a loud grunt, looking at you with a intense desperation, his pace surging forward. The light is dim, and in the shadow of his body all you can see is the need in his eyes.
“Oh God, Becky, you feel so ga -ga -ga-goood…. So goddamn good….” Elvis pulls pack, and you unclasp your hands from his neck to lean back on your wrists for support, while he bends to suckle at your breast, his hands gripping your back, pushing your areola farther into his mouth. You spasm forward as his teeth grate your nipple, burying your face in his hairy shoulder to muffle your cries as you chase your climax and writhe around his cock when the tremors of your orgasm overwhelm you. Elvis' hands are cupping your face, clearing the damp hair from your forehead as you pant, his lips are now on your neck and he rolls his hips into you, riding you through it and swallowing your moans with his mouth.
“S’ok… you ok?”
“Mhmmm… oh my fucking god… ooh my god…”
Elvis laughs at that. “There’s that Twitch I was lookin’ for….uhhh” his breath hitches as his rhythm slows, but his thrusts become more powerful. “Uh…I just want to be inside of you forever honey… Baby I gotta have this always…” Now you chuckle, and then bite your lip as you flick his nipples and he shoots you a fierce look, raising his eyebrows as he pumps into you harder, while you whisper in his ear to give you everything he’s got and slap his ass. Twice.
“Huh, you sure you can take it? ” He grins, and you nod, thrusting up to meet his hips and his movements become erratic and he holds your chin. “Ok, I’ll give it ya…. Oh baby… Imma give you everything… fuck…Here he goes… Ohhhhh lord almighty FUCKKKKK” you feel his cock throbbing up into you as he pulls your hips down on to him several time, then stops, twitching. Elvis stills completely and he pulls you as close into him as he possible can, kissing your shoulder. Sweat trickles down his brow and nose, and you wipe his face with your hand, then he kisses the top of your head and rests his chin there.
“Fucking hallelujah and amen….” Elvis mutters, his fingers circling your back, and you lean onto his chest, turning your ear toward the swift beating of his heart, gripping your arms around him as tight as possible. You stay intertwined in each other like this for a another minute, then he shifts his head off of you and you feel him pull out followed by the release of cum that trickles down your thigh. Elvis steps out of his pants, looks at you sheepishly, and then grabs you by your buttocks and lifts you giggling and kissing his face over to the bed.
"Jus so you know, yittle Elvis must really like you… he doesn’t never finish inside just anyone… that’s how much he trusts you… that’s how much…” Elvis kisses your lips as he throws you on the bed with a laugh. “How much he respects ya….”
“Hmm… ooh to be filled with his spunk…what an honor indeed…” you giggle.
“Oh, ya think this is some sort of joke, huh? I’m naked, bearing you ma soul, an ya laugh?” Elvis grins, hovering over you and tickling you as you giggle more, until you swat him several times and eck out that you do not want to wake the household.
He stops, pulling up the covers. “Probably too late for that honey, you were moanin’ up a storm…. Les just hope they think another tornado was passing through….”
Covers pulled back, you lay in an naked embrace, murmuring to each other as your fingers haphazardly trail over his chest and down his stomach. You nuzzle into his armpit and he kisses your head. You hum some of that song from Robin Hood while he strokes your belly.
“I’m crazy about you, kid. Come back ta Memphis with me tomarra, you can bring ya baby, ain’t no thing, Lisa Marie is coming next week, they can run each other ragged round the place… we can run each ragged round the place…” he grinned.
“I can’t, Elvis… I’m dropping Ruth off at summer camp Sunday… she’ll be gone for three weeks….”
“Well, thas perfect, Jerry an I can take y’all, then you come back to Graceland and I’ll show you what its like to make love with sound proof walls…” he smirked, finality in his voice.
“Mhmmm… I can’t leave the store, it wouldn’t be fair.. to Harriet… to my aunt and uncle…”
Elvis grunted. “Hmmm…. Well, don’t make up yer mind right this second… think on it …” he cooed, rubbing your shoulder, then jumped up and walked to his jacket, you see him rummage around in his pocket, and pull out some loose junk, then pick out a few pills, swallowing them down dry. You raise your eye brow, but say nothing, as he walks back, trundles onto the bed, and you fall asleep there in his arms, completely naked.
It’s 6 a.m. when you wake with a jolt to feel his embrace tight around you, his snores warm the top of your hair, and you smile, wanting to stay like this as long as you can, but you think of Ruth waking up alone and seeing you come out of the basement in your dress from the night before. So you move his arm, sneak up the stairs, and shower, before dressing for the day, and sitting at your vanity to make a list of everything you have to do that day to get Ruth ready for summer camp. There is no way you’re letting Elvis drive you to drop her off, no way you are going to Memphis. But you smile, thinking of the previous night’s activities.
————————————————
When Elvis stumbles up the basement stairs, it’s noon, and he finds Jerry in the breakfast nook next to the kitchen talking to Ida, a fresh pot of coffee brewed. Jerry jumps up to get Elvis a cup, but Ida waves him off, and moves Elvis to another chair, before proceeding to mother the two men as if they were her children. You walk into the kitchen to find Elvis smiling while Ida brings a second plate of freshly fried challah French toast, regaling him and Jerry with embarrassing stories about you as a teenager.
“Oh, well Rebecca was definitely the only creative one in a family of left brain types, you know, she always loved being outside, she was a counselor at Camp Jacobs, all the kids were, actually… but Becky, oy, she’s such a talented artist - music, drawing, sewing, she made those dungarees she’s wearing, you know. Her talents are really wasted managing the shop.”
“I like working at your hardware store just fine, tante…”
Elvis raises an eyebrow your way, taking in your flower-patterned overalls as he learns that your mother, father, and older siblings are all lawyers.
“Except Deborah, she’s a judge now, up in Memphis actually.” Ida adds.
You change the subject, asking the men what their plans are, as Ida does the dishes. Jerry and Elvis look at each other. Elvis had promised he would do an interview with Danny at his radio station that afternoon, and Ida interrupts to see if they plan to stay another night, inviting them to have dinner with just the family if they want to. Elvis catches your eye, as he stutters, thinking of his invitation to go out. Just as he starts to say that maybe he and Becky might go somewhere, Ruth runs into the kitchen, excited to hear that Elvis is staying and asking where he’s talking you all that night.
“Ok, I’m gonna cook dinner here,” you announce, “and then maybe we can go out for ice cream? I don’t know, though, I feel like if we go anywhere with you, you’ll get mobbed and then—”
“How will we get our ice cream?” Ruth adds earnestly.
“Well, Jerrah here is an expert at scouting out good ice cream parlors, maybe he can find one for use to go to?” Elvis grins, looking over at Jerry.
Ruth does a little dance as she says, “Yay!” then hops from leg to leg. “So, I have a joke…. Where does a fish keep his money?”
Elvis cracks a smile as he looks over at where you stand, leaning in the door frame between the kitchen and the breakfast nook. “I don’t know, kid, where?”
You turn to finish putting the last few things in Ruth’s suitcase, her voice squealing out “In the river BANK!” behind you, and you hear laughs echoing through the house. You chuckle to yourself as you hear Ruth continue to recite corny jokes to the boys.
Prepping your specialty, Southern fried tofu while you listen to Danny’s interview with Elvis at 5 p.m., you watch the men exchange shrewd expressions when they return from the station and Ruth explains to them that you’re a vegetarian, and all the reasons why, before cajoling them to come hula hoop with her.
Elvis pushes Jerry to go with her, with a promise to join in a second, then he is behind you as you sauté collard greens, leaning into your neck whispering, “Hmm… vegetarian, huh? Seemed to have no problem putting ma meat in your mouth the other day…” and you roll you eyes with a soft “Ha ha ha…” unable to resist the warm comfort of his body, and you wiggle your butt into him, turning your head to kiss his cheek, as he stays there, pushing his mouth into your neck while you cook.
You don’t notice, but Ida comes by the kitchen, and stops for a moment to watch the two of you sway and mumble to each other in an embrace over the stove, walking away with a radiant smile to go check on Saul, who’s been doing some work on the front yard.
Elvis, Ruth and Jerry go out back and pick flowers for you while you put the finishing touches on dinner, and you light up with delight when Ruth brings them over, announcing “these are for you Becky Butt.” You scowl at Elvis every time she uses that nick name, and you hit him with a laugh when he pulls you onto his lap in front of everyone to tell you how much he liked dinner before you and Ida start clearing the table.
“Really? You liked the fried tofu?”
He holds you on his knee, eyes alight. “Baby, that was the best damn appetizer I ever had. Ready for the main course.” He wiggled his eye brows at Ruth. “You’re not full, are ya lil britches?”
Ruth’s mouth turns into a wide, enthusiastic smile, “Can we have ice cream as the main course?”
“The country fried tofu and greens was the main course, baby, don’t listen to this man…I’m not sure he earned his dessert… only good lil boys who have good lil manners get ice cream.” You pull his arm off you and finish clearing the table.
Saul is at the sink, doing the dishes, and Ida pushes you out of the kitchen, telling “You kids go out and get your ice cream already.” You go kiss her cheek, scoffing that Elvis and Jerry are far from kids.
The air inside the empty Baskin Robbins is a cool salve to the hot Jackson night. You don’t know how, money you assume, but Jerry arranged for the shop to stay open past their 7 pm closing time. The four of you are the only customers, and you pinch Elvis’ shoulder as you get up to go use the bathroom, telling them to order you a scoop of butter pecan. Ruth announces that she can’t decide, so Elvis looks at Jerry, and, winking at Ruth, instructs the server to bring the table a scoop of every flavor, on one big plate. Ruth’s eyes get huge and she bangs the table.
“My mom is gonna flip her lid when she sees what you ordered!”
Elvis slaps the table. “Oh no, ya think so? Quick, call that girl back here so we kin cancel our order…” and he chuckles as Ruth shakes her head no. “Ok, then, don’t you worry bout your mama… now Ruth, what’s the story with your daddy?” Elvis starts tapping his fingers along the top of the table.
Now it’s Ruth’s turn to wiggle her eye brows, and she folds her arms on the table. “Oh him? My daddy is a lawyer, he lives in Birmingham with his wife Jean, and according to my mom, ‘he’s a bastard and I don’t know why I ever liked him,’… at least that’s what she says when she doesn’t know I’m listening…”
Jerry looks down, shaking his head, as Elvis belts out another belly laugh. Jerry was starting to like Becky and he shuddered as he realized the different permutations this relationship could take as he watched Elvis use Ruth to get the skinny on her mom’s love life, asking whether Becky had boyfriends, and learning about her past serious relationships. He hopes that when they leave tomorrow, Elvis would get back to Memphis and Becky would be out of his system. Otherwise, knowing how his boss could get fixated on a woman impulsively, he saw a tumultuous month or so of Elvis having him drive them back and forth between Memphis and Jackson. Maybe even trying to get Becky a house in Memphis, or buying her a house in Jackson so he can control how the relationship worked out. He didn’t see Becky going for that, and hoped she might tell Elvis to take a hike. But as Jerry watched her stroll back to the table, an irrepressible look of delight and happiness in her eyes, he realized it was unlikely, and worried how she would try to make what ever fling this was going to turn out to be work long distance through tours and other girl friends, as Elvis dragged Becky and her kid and her sweet normal family into his chaos. It was then, as Becky cried out with shocked surprise when the server put down four bowls with 31 scoops of ice cream, that Jerry started thinking of ways to get Elvis to dump her.
————————————————
It is 8 a.m., but the Mississippi sun was up early, and the frame of Elvis yellow Cadillac is already hot to the touch as you open the back door, only to have Elvis slap the white leather of the front seat and cluck for you to get your butt next to him. You look at Jerry with pity as he lugs Ruth’s suitcase to the trunk, and Ida and Saul are giving your daughter a succession of tight hugs, then walking her out to the back seat.
“Have a safe drive,” Ida’s hand rubs your arm over the window frame. Elvis jumps out of the driver’s seat, and walks around to give your aunt and uncle a big hug, and you notice that Ida whispers something in his ear.
You lecture Elvis on how the drop off will go at Camp Jacobs, instructing him not to get out of the car, not to take off his sunglasses or start making a spectacle of himself for the staff or other families dropping their children off, you know a lot of these people, you and your family grew up going to this camp every summer, and you are only letting him do this so you can spend an extra few hours together, before he drops you in Jackson and heads back to Memphis. Ruth asks the guys what their favorite cartoons are, what their favorite television shows and movies are, and whether they plan to see Jaws, she thinks it looks scary, but she’s not a fraidy cat. You make a withering face just to Elvis as she says this, and you notice that Ruth is completely unperturbed by the fact that Elvis has his arm around you while he hums along to the songs on the radio, then explains to Ruth how the problem with cartoons are that they are on Saturday mornings, and he wishes there were more Saturday night cartoons, so he could watch them with his daughter.
“That’s why I just get copies of all the cartoon films I can … y’all will have ta come up to Graceland sometime, we can watch Robin Hood, Peter Pan, Lady and the Tramp, I got ‘em all…” you jab Elvis in the ribs as he says this, a warning shot, because it is so uncool to make plans with Ruth for the future, when you haven’t even discussed the next step with him yourself.
The sign over the wrought iron arches of Camp Jacobs greets you as Elvis pulls up, and the staff at the gate squint at him with a furrowed brow and puzzled recognition as you lean across his lap and give them Ruth’s name and cabin group. Your breasts graze the top of Elvis’ thighs, and you feel him push his legs up into them with an innocent look on his face as you settle back in your side of the front seat. At Ruth’s cabin, Elvis, to no one’s surprise, does not keep a low profile. He jumps out, swaggers to the trunk, gets Ruth’s suit case, as he introduces himself to every counselor and parent in sight, before a sizable throng have gathered around, and you hear Ruth telling people that Elvis is her mom’s boyfriend. You steady yourself as you bend to kiss her and hug her and kiss her again, Jerry gives her a high five, and Elvis bends down, gives her a hug, and then tells her to have a good summer.
“Give em hell, lil’ britches.” He kisses Ruth on the cheek, and she giggles, kissing him back, whispering a shy thanks in his ear for all the ice cream and reminding him that she still can’t decide which flavor is her favorite, so they might have to order all 31 scoops again next time. He laughs loudly, and you have to pull him away from the campers after a good 30 minutes posing for photos with anyone in her cabin and the adjourning one who had a camera handy loaded with film.
————————————————
Cat Stevens voice sings at you from the Cadillac’s speakers as you drive back to the highway, Elvis' hand is on you again in the car, it's just Jerry in the back seat now, and so E makes no attempt to hide the intimate way his fingers caress your inner thigh. Relaxed, tired and in a daze from another late night showing lil’ Elvis your version of Southern hospitality, and also, the whirlwind of the weekend, you lean into Elvis arm as it crosses in front of your breasts, and lay your head on his shoulder. You wake up, rubbing your eyes, realizing you dozed off, and then sitting straight up with a jolt when you see the signs for the US-61.
“Elvis!” You shout, “Elvis, this is not the way back to Jackson.”
He hums softly. “I know honey, s’cuz we ain’t goin’ back to Jacktown.”
“Elvis, turn around, turn around, I can’t go with you to Memphis. My aunt and uncle will worry.”
Elvis rubs your shoulder. “Honey, they’re the ones who packed your bag…I’m sorry Twitch, you done been kidnapped.”
You shriek up to the roof of the car, and slap his arm, hard, which only works to provoke more chuckles as you rant. “Of all the arrogant, bullshit, fucking entitled, rock star, fucking cocksucking mother fucking unbelievable stunts——"

The amount of floating heart balloons in pink and red was overwhelming as Javier stepped into the bar. There must have been hundreds of balloons floating against the ceiling of the usually very run down bar.
“What the fuck?” he cursed under his breath. He felt someone slap him on his shoulder, turning his head to see Steve grinning at him.
“Happy Valentine‘s Partner,” he winked and Javier sighed as he brought a hand up, his fingers rubbing over his forehead in frustration.
“I’m gonna go home,” Javier announced and Steve rolled his eyes.
It had been a long day at the embassy. He felt stuck in this war against Escobar, seemingly nothing they were doing getting them closer to the man who was ruining so many lives.
Javier’s included.
Being surrounded by people making heart eyes at each other was not how he saw this day end for him
“Come on man, Connie’s here too,” Steve pleaded and Javier rolled his eyes.
“So what, you gonna make me watch you make heart eyes at your wife before you leave me here to get laid?”
Steve laughed before he left Javier standing by the door to make his way deeper into the bar.
It was… a lot.
The Pet Shop boys were blasting from the speakers, heart balloons in every shade of red and pink were floating against the ceiling.
He never really experienced Valentine’s day to this extent. Except that one time that kind of ruined it for him. Not that he was really experiencing it. He wouldn’t be here or even acknowledged the day if it wasn’t for his fucking partner.
Maybe he’d make his way to see if Vanessa had some time for him after his beer. Seeing all these people making heart eyes at each other did start to make him think about how fucking miserable his life was. A blowjob would probably shut those thoughts up.
Connie was already sitting in Steve’s lap when he finally made his way over to the counter. He’d give them 15 minutes max. before they’d leave.
He’d make his way out of here as soon as his beer was empty. He grabbed the bottle that was sled over the counter towards him, thanking the man behind the bar and paying for it immediately.
He turned around so he was leaning with his back against the counter, letting his eyes wander through the room. When did Valentine’s day get that…. Popular?
He remembered his father buying a bigger bouquet of daisies for his mother every valentine’s day. They were her favourite flowers.
Now daisies were blooming on her grave, and Javier was reminded once again of how much he had missed since coming here.
He chose to ignore the one time he did make a fuzz and went all out for a girl to celebrate Valentine’s day.
He sighed, needing to really get out of here when his eyes narrowed at a person sitting in the far corner of the room. A person he hadn’t seen since leaving the states. But it couldn’t be… because you were at home. Probably married by now. But then you turned your head around and looked right at him.
He stilled, blinking his eyes as you kept looking at him just as surprised as he was.
And then you smiled.
And Javier?
Javier was just as fucked as he was when he had seen you nine years ago.

Your honeymoon did turn out better than you thought it would even if it did not look like that in the beginning.
Mostly because you were here on your own and not with your cheating ex-fiancé. The night you found out that he had been sleeping with his secretary for almost six months had not been your favourite night.
But you thankfully found out before you walked down the aisle and ended up being married to him.
The wedding had been called off and you had been able to cancel everything except for the honeymoon you had put great detail in planning for the two of you.
Two weeks in South America did not seem to be the logical or even safe decision when you had planned your honeymoon, but your (ex) fiancé had family in Colombia and you had wanted to surprise him.
And even though you knew travelling as a single woman in a foreign country, especially here, was not safe, you made the decision to travel alone. Checking in with your family daily.
Before you had left, your mother had slipped you an address and phone number in your hand that held a familiar name.
Your mother and Maria Peña had been childhood friends.
So of course you knew Javier Peña.
Even though you had kind of grown up with him, you and your family had moved away when you turned eight and only moved back to Laredo just before you turned 18.
Javier had been 23 at that point and grown into a very handsome young man.
A man you fell in love with head over heels back then before you made one of the biggest mistakes of your life.
Now, many years later you were sitting in a sea of hearts with happy people in love all around you, asking yourself how you got here when your eyes found his.
You knew that he was in Colombia, you even had his address, but how big was the chance of just randomly running into him?
You hadn’t seen him in almost seven years when you left town. The last thing you heard was that he left Lorraine at the altar and took a job offer that would bring him to Colombia to help bring down the drug cartels.
Much like you had fled from him after you ruined the future he wanted to have with you.
You had imagined, dreamed of seeing him again numerous times throughout the years. You wondered if you had made the right decision back then, to leave him. To say no when he asked you to marry him.
But you had been too young. Too… scared to miss out on something you wouldn’t know you had all along once you realised that your fear of losing out made you lose the only man you ever had been truly in love with.
Now you were here in this bar, looking at Javier who had only gotten more handsome and you couldn’t help the smile that came to your lips.
You did not know what to do. You wanted to talk to him, yes, but would he?
Thankfully you did not have enough time to decide before he slowly made his way over to you.
Sucking your bottom lip in, something you always did when you were nervous, you only realised you were holding your breath when he was standing in front of you. The unmistakable scent that was just Javier invading your senses.
“Hey Javi,” you said, your voice just loud enough so he could hear. He blinked at you once, twice, before he shook his head with a huff.
He was wearing a dark shirt tucked into some very fitted jeans, a leather jacket covering his broad shoulders. He looked… He looked good. Very good.
“I really thought I was seeing a ghost for a minute there,” he shook his head with a small smile. Your smile widened, as you got up to stand, unsure on how to greet him.
He just kept looking at you like you would disappear at any moment.
“You… You wanna sit down?” you asked at the same time he asked, “Can I… Can I hug you?”
“Yeah. Yeah you can.”
Tumblr media
You were holding Javier’s hand as you walked down the street. He had just taken your hand in his like he always did when you were still together. You weren’t even sure if he noticed it.
You had left the bar five minutes after he sat down next to you, both deciding that it was too loud to catch up. He asked if you were hungry and if you wanted to talk and you had agreed.
It was like no time had passed at all, falling back into the familiarity of being with him. So many times you had wondered how it would be to run back into him.
You wondered if he would hold a grudge, he had every right to it. You had broken Javier Peña’s heart all these years ago, thinking it would be for the best.
It would take you years to figure out that you had made the biggest mistake of your life.
“You’re quiet,” he said and you looked at him. He was watching you, his lips pressed together in a frown.
“It’s… surreal. Running into you after so many years and in Colombia of all places,” you said.
“I’ve been here for years. Did you…”
“I knew you were here. I… Mom even slipped me your address and number. She always thought…” you didn’t finish the sentence. He knew. You knew. Everyone around you knew that your mother thought you had made the biggest mistake when you broke up with Javier.
A part of you wished you had listened to her back then.
But you had lived your life, met a man who you thought you loved, yet it never felt like it did with Javier. Even now, just walking with him felt like you could breathe for the first time in forever.
“I talk to your mom once a month,” he said and you stopped walking.
“You do?” you were surprised. He turned so he was standing in front of you, your hand in his as he nodded.
“Yeah. She always calls sundays around dinner time. Keeping me in the loop of all things going on in Laredo that Dad doesn’t,” he chuckled.
“Is that how she had your address?” you asked. He shook his head.
“Probably from dad. He has it in case…” he didn’t finish the sentence. He looked like the weight of the world was resting on his shoulders and you had your arms wrapped around his body before you could stop yourself, hugging him close. He tensed for a moment before you felt his arms coming around you as he hugged you back.
“Would it be weird to tell you that I missed you?” you mumbled against his chest. You felt him release a long breath.
He didn’t answer you, instead you felt him kiss the top of your head as he hugged you tighter.
—-
Dinner was like no time had passed at all. It was still early in the evening and Javier and you had sat down outside behind the restaurant where hundreds of fairy lights were hung up like a sky full of stars. A candle sat in the middle of the table.
A very romantic set up, but it was Valentine’s day after all.
You talked about everything. About his job and yours. About his family and yours. And it wasn’t awkward. At least not until after dinner.
“A rose for the lady?” your head turned to the man standing next to Javier, a dozen of roses in his arm he was selling.
“She hates roses,” Javier said.
“But you don’t, “ you whispered, searching for some money in your purse to buy a single red rose. The man took the money and gave you a rose, before he turned away and approached the other tables.
Javier was looking at you as you smelled the rose with a sad smile.
His mind went back to the day he bought out almost the whole flower shop to get every single tulip for you. He had the whole day planned out, starting from asking your mother if she would help him set up the backyard, to asking your father for permission to marry you.
He was young back then, but so so in love. There wasn’t a doubt in his mind when he made the decision to ask you if you would marry him. You were it for him.
And then you had broken his heart when you told him that you did not want to marry him, that you felt like you were missing out on something.
Back then he was shattered, angry, confused.
Now that some years had passed he could see that you both had been too young. Yet even with all these years passed he still felt the same about you.
It was why he couldn’t marry Lorraine (apart from the fact that he only asked her to marry him because she had lied about being pregnant and he wanted to do the right thing).
It was why every time he saw a tulip a smile sneaked to his face because they made him think of you. Because even though you hurt him, he never stopped loving you.
“You should hate me,” you said as you stared at the rose.
“I should,” he said and you looked up at him.
“I ruined our life,” you whispered, your bottom lip trembling. You were overwhelmed with what you were feeling as you saw him shake his head.
“We were very young,” he said.
You shook your head.
“You should hate me. I hated myself for a long time. I… I should have talked to you and not just… left head over heels.”
“I love you to much to hate you,” he said and finally a single tear broke free as you looked into his warm eyes so full of… You couldn’t even think of it.
Instead you took a deep breath before you got up from your chair, the rose in your hand as you stopped right in front of him. He looked up at you with confusion as you took his hand before you asked:
“Will you be my Valentine?”
Tumblr media
He asked you if you wanted to come home with him and you said yes.
Now you were standing in his hallway as Javi closed and locked the door behind him.
Nervous, with a billion butterflies in your belly you looked at him as he turned around. He just looked at you for a while before he took his jacket off and let it fall to the ground.
“I’m going to kiss you now,” he said and you nodded as he took those couple steps to close the distance between the two of you, his hands framing your face as his lips found yours.
The last time you kissed Javier Peña was more than seven years ago. And all the feelings you suppressed since then were back with the touch of his lips against yours. Slowly he walked you backwards until your back was against the wall. You pulled your arms around his back, your fingers digging into his back as you parted your lips for him so he could deepen the kiss.
You moaned softly as his tongue played with yours, one of his hands letting go of your face to run down your body.
Closing your eyes you gasped for air as your lips parted and his lips kissed down your jaw, his moustache rubbing over your skin.
“I want you,” he mumbled.
“Then take me,” you hummed.
Tumblr media
Javier had fucked plenty of women in his life.
But he only ever had made love to you.
He stared down at you, spread out naked on his bed as you looked up at him with bright eyes and a teasing smile. He was overwhelmed by how much he had missed you.
Yes he should hate you, you were right. But how could he hate you when it was so fucking hard to stop loving you? And he had tried, yet every woman he only attempted to have more than a one night stand with had to live up to you.
That was why he shut his feelings off when he came to Colombia.
And it had taken you minutes to tear down his walls.
He could only hope you would not make him regret it.
“Come here. I wanna feel you…” you whispered. Javier got out of his clothes, carelessly letting them fall on the floor before he kneeled on the bed. You spread your legs and opened your arms and he went down willingly, resting his weight on his elbows next to your head as he kissed you softly. You hummed against his lips, moaning as you felt his weight on top for you, your legs crossing behind him to get him closer, caging him against your body.
You never wanted to let go of him.
Reaching one hand between your bodies you closed your palm around his cock. He groaned, parting from your lips, to rest his forehead against yours, his eyes closed.
“I’m gonna cum if you keep doing that,” he mumbled as you started to slowly pump his cock.
“As long as you’re inside of me, I don’t care. I wanna feel you…” you breathed.
“Fuck,” he groaned.
“Missed you so fucking much. Made the biggest mistake of my life not saying yes…” you whispered and he opened his eyes to look at you.
“Missed you too,” he kissed you again. He felt you move your hips beneath him.
“No baby… Let me go down on you. You’re not ready…” he shook his head.
“Don’t care. Want you. Just go slow…” you ran your other hand through his hair as you looked up at him.
His hand replaced yours on his cock.
“I have condoms in my bedside table…” he said.
“I’m on birth control. If you’re safe, I trust you,” you said and Javier nodded, sliding the tip of his cock through your wet folds.
Slowly he pushed inside of you, making you feel every single inch as he slipped inside. He was looking down at you as you bit your lip, closing your eyes only briefly before you opened them again.
He was still pushing inside of you when you pulled him closer and crashed his lips down on yours, the last inches of his cock filling you in one stroke, making you both moan against each other's lips.
He kissed you deeply, one of his hands sneaking behind your neck to hold you before he began to move. Slowly thrusting into you, his lips only leaving yours to kiss down your jaw and your neck.
He was so close, literally inside of you, yet you wanted more. How could you let this man go all these years ago?
“Don’t,” he said and you blinked at him as he dragged his cock inside of you deeply.
“Stop thinking,” he said.
“Make me,” you almost begged, tears lingering in your eyes.
He pecked your lips before he sat himself up on his knees, his hand grabbing your thighs to pull you closer, fucking you harder.
“Fuck!” you cried out, your hands playing with your breasts as he pumped his cock into you.
“Gonna need you to cum. I’m so fucking close…” he groaned. You brought one hand between your legs, feeling his cock enter you before you began to play with your clit.
“Harder,” you moaned and he grunted as he shifted his weight, pressing your knees against your chest, almost folding you in half as he fucked you into the mattress, using his whole weight as leverage.
“Yes… Fuck… Just like that….” you moaned.
“Shit you feel so good. So warm…” he groaned.
“Cum for me Javi. Cum inside me,” you whimpered, rubbing your clit, your legs starting to shake.
“Fuck….” he groaned, thrusting a half dozen of times before you felt him spill inside of you, fucking his cum into you as you came around his cock with a cry of his name.
Out of breath he stilled inside of you, slowly sitting himself up so you could spread your legs back on the bed again. He just looked at you, his cock still inside of you, before he leaned down and kissed you.
You fell asleep like that.
With his cock and cum still inside of you, and Javier’s head resting between your breasts.
And exactly a year later, on the next Valentine’s day you asked him to marry you.
And he said yes.

a/n: Ik its not how u spell Ahsoka’s name but I made her nickname from the reader “Ash”. Alsooo were heading into the shallow waters of angst territory hehehe, thank you all for reading :)
You get some heavy news off of your chest…
warnings: cursing, cannon disabled character, insecurity, emetophobia, pregnancy test
_______________________________
Ahsoka’s team came back into town with a very warm welcome. Your college threw a huge celebration for winning nationals; the band, balloons, confetti, the works.
Of course you were as close to the front as you could be to greet a smiling Ahsoka as she exited the bus. You squealed and hugged her tightly as you showered her with praise and congratulations.
“Aww thanks y/n!! But i couldn’t have done it without the whole team” she beamed as the rest of her fellow teammates filed off of the bus.
You smiled and stuck around to congratulate other members you knew through other clubs or classes you had with them.
After a few hours of celebration, the sun began to set and the organized extravaganza died down… but not the unofficial celebration.
Just like on the night of the win, everyone was going out tonight; bars, clubs, restaurants…everything was packed.
You debated going out, to be honest you didn’t really want to, you were pretty tired. But if Ahsoka wanted to party, you’d accompany her.
Luckily for you, Ahsoka was also physically exhausted, so she didn’t want to go to the club and dance. Instead she suggested the two of you go out for a chill night and hit up one of the fancy hotel bars downtown.
“I know it hasn’t been long, but I wanna catch up and hear all about your week! So we should go to the Benton!” she smiled.
Once the two of you had become tired of the clubs last semester, Ahsoka started taking you to this really expensive hotel’s bar that she’d frequent when she wanted a relaxing night; the staff never questioned why you were there, all they cared about was that you behaved yourself and dressed semi-formally.
So tonight you were going to get dressed up and parade your asses around the Benton as if you had that type of money.
What better way to celebrate a national victory than with some class.

“Two Mules sir!” Ahsoka excitedly shouted at the bartender.
“Comin’ right up Ash!” the man, whom you had become familiar with after many girls nights at this bar, said.
“Oh wait! Actually just one” you butted in, knowing one of those drinks was supposed to be for you.
“What?! Y/N, you're not gonna drink with me? It's a celebration!” she joked lightly.
“I can’t drink right now,” you admitted.
“Ohh, did you yak last time or something?” she asked as the bartender slid her the chilled copper mug.
You debated lying to her, but you did need to tell her sometime… So you motioned for her to lean in closer and whispered-
“Ash, I’m pregnant”
Her eyes widened and her jaw physically dropped.
“WHAT?!” she exclaimed loudly, before apologizing to the surrounding attendants, then turning back to whisper to you, “what?!”
You sighed and nodded sadly.
“When I asked if you were pregnant the other week, I was joking….. Are you sure-sure? Like really sure you are?” she asked.
“I’ve gone through a box of tests, Ash”
She took a swig of her drink and placed it back onto the bar, “Fuck y/n…. How do you feel about it?”.
“I’m not sure how to feel… I’m scared but also I don’t even know what to do” you responded.
“Does the father kno-”
You shook your head.
Her face hardened and she drew her lips into a thin line, “Are you gonna tell him?”.
“I need to… I feel like his opinion matters in this situation, but im so scared Ash- like I’ve been losing sleep over it”
Her brows knitted together and she bit her lip before speaking.
“I really wish I could help you more…” She said sadly, you could tell she genuinely was sorry by the way her eyes seemed to somber.
“But I want you to know that i'll always be here for you; I’ll be here to help you through this until I have to leave for my job in the fall”
You smiled and enveloped your friend in a warm embrace, “Thanks Ahsoka… it really means the world”.
“I’ve got your back” she said. returning the hug.
______________________________
Your conversation with Ahsoka actually calmed you down for a while- just getting that news off of your chest really helped. At the time you didn’t realize it, but Ahsoka was the first person you told the news to.
A few more days went by and you stayed at Anakins for the most part because your roommate wanted to get in all the time she could with her boyfriend on campus before they had to go home for the summer.
Even though neither of you admitted it or said anything, you could feel that something was off. You knew why you were holding back, but you couldn’t exactly tell what was going through his mind.
You sat on Anakin’s couch and he joined you shortly with a cup of soda in his hand. Usually he’d have an evening beer around this time, but for the past couple of weeks he has been working on sobriety.
Though his alcoholism wasn’t rampant as of now, he wanted to work of weening himself off of the bottle, just incase.
Alcoholism was a struggle that wouldn’t magically go away no matter how much he tried, but he wanted to show that he was at-least making an effort.
When you noticed he hadn’t been drinking he told you, “I wanna try to lay off it. Plus I gotta keep up with my healthy and pretty girlfriend”.
His commitment to sobriety was another factor that kept you from telling him about the pregnancy… what if the news set him back? How would you deal with being the catalyst that set him off?
Now, the two of you sat on the couch listening to music and enjoying eachothers company. In times like these you wished you didn’t have to tell him.
“What’s on your mind princess?” he asked you when you unknowingly stared into space for a little too long.
“Nothing, I’ve just been feeling odd lately” you said, hoping to reassure him.
Another beat of silence filled the space between you two before he spoke again.
“Are you satisfied?…With me, I mean.” he asked, almost timidly.
“What do you mean?” you asked curiously, what was he even talking about?
You loved him.
He looked away for a moment and set his soda down, “I dunno… nevermind”.
“No, no Anakin, What do you mean? I want to know because I never want you to feel like I’m not happy with you” you explained, hoping to coax his reasons out.
“I just… Sometimes I don’t understand…”
You drew your brows together in concern; he was rarely this vulnerable with you.
He sighed, “You’re young, smart, talented, and beautiful, don’t you ever want someone more like you? I just don’t want you to feel trapped with me…”
“...out of pity, or something” he added.
“Ani, you are like me. You’re complex, sensitive, caring, and are more handsome than I am beautiful. And I do not feel trapped with you- I love you so deeply and can only hope you feel the same for me.”
He blinked a few times before  a small smile settled onto his face, “alright… that means alot y/n. Thank you”.
“Of course, my love. If you ever need to tell me anything, I am always here to listen and work it out with you… I will be by your side helping you with any problem that comes up-” as you spoke, you realized you were taking his insecurities and projecting how you wanted him to react to the baby news.
You wanted him to accept it and stick with you out of pure adoration and love for you. It wasn’t that much to ask, was it?
“And I hope you would do the same for me” you added as you enveloped your lover into a warm embrace.
“I would. You’re probably one, if not the- most important person in my life”.
His words reassured you, he did love you! And of course he’d be there for you, he was your kindhearted boyfriend.
You could probably muster up the courage to tell him, tonight.
“You’re not the reason I’ve been acting off either” you admitted, scooching back to the other side of the couch.
“Then what’s on your mind, Sweetheart?” he looked at you confused as he awaited your confession.
You took a deep breath, he was a grown adult who would be able to handle this maturely…. Here goes nothing.
“Anakin, I’m pregnant”
