"You're important to me, you little shit" for Lena and Webby for platonic sentence starter?
Ooooooooooh, yes!!! I’ve never written anything exclusively revolving around them, so this’ll be fun.
I give you…
Out from the Shadows
Originated from this post.
“So you’re telling me,” questioned Webby, “that you were my shadow the entire time and I didn’t even know?”
“Pretty much, yeah,” Lena replied.
It had been about a week since Webby and Violet had brought Lena back from the Shadow Realm, and Webby and Lena had finally found time to discuss all that happened between the Shadow War and that point.
“I…honestly thought Magica had destroyed you,” Webby quietly admitted.
“Me? Destroyed? Nah, I simply just became your shadow,” Lena answered back. “Like I said, to make sure you were alright.”
“Awwww,” Webby cooed. “Still sweet, no matter how much you remind me.”
Lena chuckled softly. “Anyway,” she continued, “I appreciate how much research you were doing in order to try and get me back. But honestly, Pink, going downtown to the library so often got kinda old after so long.”
“Really?” Webby asked. “I’m sorry.”
“No,” Lena said firmly. “Don’t apologize. You were doing whatever it took to figure out how to get me back.”
Webby nodded.
“By the last time you went downtown for research, you know, the one where you met Vi, I basically had the whole routine memorized,” Lena admitted. “Taking the bus, swiping in with your card, poring over books about shadow magic for hours, rinse and repeat.”
“You…had it memorized?” Webby asked.
“Well, yeah,” Lena responded. “It’s not like I had much else to do, anyway, being stuck in the Shadow Realm.”
Webby looked at her friend curiously. “What else do you remember from when you were my shadow?” she wondered.
“I remember that game night you guys had,” Lena began. “How the heck did Blue not get your charade? It was so clearly McMoneybags!”
“Dewey’s…not always the best with non-verbal cues,” Webby admitted. “Also, did Dr. Gearloose’s shrink ray affect you at all?”
“I was literally shrunk down with the rest of you, and I have no stupid idea how,” Lena replied incredulously. “I’d have guessed that it would only affect the living. You know, those not literally stuck in another dimension.”
“Since you were my shadow, and I got shrunk, scientifically speaking, yeah, it makes sense that you got shrunk down, too,” Webby explained. “But I digress.”
“Ooh! That boat trip you and Green took,” Lena remembered. “That Glom-guy, though, he’s…well, something.”
“He’ll do anything to be better than Uncle Scrooge,” Webby agreed. “That’s why they’re doing this wager over their companies.”
Lena stewed for a moment.
“What?” Webby asked.
“I cannot believe the nerve of him, pulling you overboard!” Lena spat out.
“Did you go overboard, too?” Webby wondered. “Shoot, that kinda came out wrong; I’m just curious about the schematics of that, you having been my shadow and all.”
“You were still close enough to the boat that I stayed on,” Lena explained. “I was still worried, though.”
“Why?” questioned Webby. “Lena, you know me. You know just how physically adept I am, swimming included. You’ve seen me do all those casual flips and tricks. Why would you be worried when you know I can do all that?”
“Because you’re important to me, you little shit!” Lena shouted. Then she clapped a hand over her bill. “Sorry, I don’t know why that came out of me, but the point still stands. You mean a lot to me, and I don’t want you getting hurt, or even worse. Again, that was my whole reason for being your shadow in the first place.”
“First of all,” Webby responded, “you’re lucky that you just said that to me, and not Granny. Second, I appreciate it. I mean, I have enough know-how to be able to get myself out of situations (as long as they aren’t social), but for whenever I can’t do it on my own, well, I guess I had you there the whole time, looking out for me.”
“And I’m still gonna be there for you, no matter what,” Lena added. “Even though I have my body back. Whatever happens, you are not losing me.”
Webby jumped up from her bed, and Lena, anticipating her, rose to her feet as well, as the two girls collided in a hug.
“I missed your hugs,” Webby said, her voice muffled by Lena’s chest.
“I know,” Lena grinned.

omg I saw your post about the jungle and I have to rant because I’m so conflicted! On the one hand it has some of my favs in it and so I want to adore it, but on the other hand the whole thing is just MESSY. And from what I’ve heard of the source material, they’ve stuck to it super closely including dedicating a chapter/episode to each character and I think it’s that (plus the really underwhelming production values) that’s bothering me the most. As far as I’m aware there’s no overarching storyline and so it comes across as a series of short stories set in the same place. I also do recognise though that the actor schedules were also apparently really difficult to work around, and that’s probably affected the series in regards to scenes with the full or most of the cast.
Having said all that, I’ve definitely seen A LOT worse from gmmtv even in recent years and I keep reminding myself that at least it’s messy in a fun, sexy way rather than completely bland (apart from leemook which broke my heart because I was looking forward to seeing them together again). For example if I go by series this year, UMG looked beautiful and was acted well but was horrifically boring, double savage almost tried to market itself as a pseudo bl with perth and ohm and was tedious to get through, I couldn’t get past the first episode of loneliness society and I wasn’t enamoured with 10yt except for view and off. And that’s not me even touching on some of the underwhelming bls.
Also I am trying to keep the faith and have hope because I feel there’s been a drastic improvement from episode 1 to episode 6 and that scene with the twins fighting each other in the parking lot in particular was so good and such an amazing performance from Nanon who apparently worked for 6 hours shooting it and I commend him going so hard for something as unserious as this
okay so first of all I agree with mostly everything you said in this post! I didn't even know the show was adapted from an original material, now the one episode per character makes much more sense! but yeah the lack of overarching material IS an issue, but on top of that the writing is so bad?? from the shows you've mentioned I've only seen 10yt & loneliness society, which I both liked enough & personally I think the writing for these shows is MILES better than for the jungle. I agree that ep 6 was the best episode so far, and it's down to nanon's AMAZING performance & also his great chemistry with mild, but all of that could not cover how SHIT the writing was this ep. nithan is DISAPPOINTED that naannam does a no show to her engagement ceremony EVEN THOUGH she now believes him to be a cheater and a MURDERER??? then he shows up & SHE'S HAPPY???? then the real naannam arrives & professes his love without clearing the air once & telling her the truth AND SHE STILL ACCEPTS TO BE WITH HIM?????? the twins make up OUT OF NOWHERE??? and say they love each other OUT OF NOWHERE???? in fact, I was so confused as to which twin was who until I watched this latest ep, and believe we shouldn't have known of naanfah existence at all until the reveal to punpun's character so WE'D BE SHOCKED TOO!!! yes that would've been a cliche plot twist, but at least there would have BEEN a plot twist! I just cannot, tbh. it's giving the three gentlebros level of writing but with even less screen time & I actually liked t3gb bc it was a silly surface level romcom whereas this does not want to be one but most absolutely is. the dichotomy is killing me I fucking hate it here 😭

words are wording
“Good cannot exist without evil.”
That’s the saying correct? That was rhetorical. I know I’m correct. Some may have stooped to calling me evil, maybe even the devil incarnate himself. But their prissy heads are stuck in the clouds. They wouldn’t exist without me, I keep them in line so we all don’t become mushy crybabies who can’t stand up for themselves. Everyone’s a pushover and everyone’s a listener. But being a listener doesn’t get you anywhere, nor does being a pushover. So when people ask me how I became so successful in such a short amount of time I tell them, “because I make it known what I want and when I want it. I don’t rest until everything I need is in order.”
That’s what got me into five blockbuster hits, one ongoing tv show, and many many interviews.
They had no right to take that from me.
People often ask whether I believed they ever existed, and I always answered the same way every time, “no.”
Turning nineteen does not make you a better person, and it won’t happen to me. I’m the best I can be, there’s no way they’ll take me. But I don’t even believe that so it’s double guaranteed to never happen.
Higher beings taking our souls at nineteen and replacing us if we’re not good enough is just another conspiracy theory.
And like I said, I’m more than good enough so it’s never going to happen.
Those thoughts replayed in my mind, almost trying to torment me. I can’t make sense of any of it. But I’m here now so my only thought should be escape.
AMBIGUOUS AMOUNT OF TIME EARLIER:
“Zaria Kasic, the first teenager to shoot up to fame this quickly since (Other famous person), has been silent on her upcoming projects. Many speculate her working with Matias Loren, the young director whose films have won two Oscars up to now. More news after the break.”
I smirked. Little did they know I was going to work with Matias’ brother, Lukas, a much more successful guy than he ever was. I was listening to the tv from behind me while I busied myself with enjoying breakfast. Fresh pancakes and strawberries topped with three dollops of whipped cream. Just how I liked it. How mom made it too, but she never let me have more than two dollops. I chuckled a bit. She’s probably scolding me from heaven right now. I wiped the smile off my face with my first bite of the pancakes. Look at me mom! I looked around my apartment. Big enough to not even be considered an apartment. I smirked again, knowing that I proved her wrong.
I made it after all.
But I wasn’t done yet, I had so much more to do. I lazily draped myself on the back of my chair, risking it falling. Now looking at the ceiling I imagined the fame I could chase next.
Relationship scandals were already developing, them all being false of course. They were just like headless chickens running around my finger, throwing whatever theories they could at me. The thrill of it all drove me to be better, to be more. Whether that was to demand for more pay or a different co star who didn’t hate me.
When I finished my pancakes I went over to my computer. I didn’t have a meeting until after noon so I had plenty of time to mess around.
I went to my blog, my fake one that is. Updating my fans on my amazing breakfast. Then I went to my real one, Annabelle Cristi. It was there that I posted about myself in the third person. Others too, but me especially. I posted about Matias, driving up the rumor about us working together just so they would be more crushed when it turned out to be false. No matter how many fake rumors I spread though, they always came crawling back. The audience, that is. They craved caricatures of their idols, and I gave it to them.
I finished up my first post of the day and scrolled through my other socials for a while. Just boring compliments in my dms and comments.
“Your so amazing-“
“Collab with me-“
“How are you so beautiful-“
“Your acting brought me to tears-“
“They’re coming for you-“
“Queen-“
I stopped. That didn’t seem right. I clicked on one dm and read the rest.
“They’re coming for you soon Zaria. If you want to keep your life you need to listen to me. Meet me at Ridge field Park this Saturday at 4:30 pm. Wear a disguise.”
I shuddered a bit. This wasn’t like the other hate dms I got. Was this even a hate dm? What kind of person just leaves a menacing message like that? I deleted it and decided to get off my computer. Crazy people I swear. Think they can just get an exclusive meeting with me. But the start of the message hung in my mind. I loaded my computer back up and tried to recover the message. No dice, it was gone forever. I probably just misread it, I’m forgetting its contents already. So I should just forget about it.
I need to focus on my birthday party next week.
I was turning nineteen, a pretty big milestone. A whole year of being a legal adult, although I knew I was much more mature than just a nineteen year old. I was going to hold a big party for the fans. With a cap of 5,000 people it was going to be a war trying to get tickets. Just the kind of chaos my birthday deserved. Then after that I was going to hold a more private party for the people lucky enough to call me their friends. Only 500 people. I rolled my eyes, I expected there to be at least 1,000 worthy of being invited to it, but society is often disappointing.
I took out my planner. Nearly every detail was complete, all I had to do now was show up. I had people to decorate, they were probably doing it right now. With what I had planned it would probably take days to set up.
I did whatever I could to occupy my mind until the time for my meeting came up. I drove over to Lukas’ house. We decided it’d be more private than an office, and less likely for spy’s to leak our project online.
I knocked on the door and moved my hand in a way to create a more pleasant thump than the boring knock knock.
He answered almost immediately and opened the door in a way that said he didn’t want me to see inside. I put my hand around the door so he couldn't slam it in my face.
“What are you doing let me in Lukas.” I moved forward as to come in but he stood firm. He was only one year older than me but sometimes I swear he treated me like a child.
“Now Zaria, don’t kill me-“
“What did you do.” I narrowed my eyes.
“If you can just keep an open mind, maybe we can all get along..”
“We?” I pushed past him and walked in. I looked around for another person and saw Matias sitting at the counter. Smiling nervously and waving awkwardly. I put my hand on my hip and didn’t return a wave or a smile back.
Lukas ran up to me and smiled apologetically, seriously could he stop trying so hard already. Maybe he wasn’t any better than Matias.
“Zaria, why don’t you sit down.”
“Yes! Good idea, let's all sit down civilly.” Matias said.
“I can’t believe you’d do this to me Lukas, I trusted you.” I didn’t sit down and stood over the boys on the couch.
“Come on Zaria, I think the director brothers could make magic! Especially with you involved, we could create something so amazing it would dominate the Oscars” Lukas tried smiling but he looked desperate. Matias just nodded in agreement.
He was trying to appease me, but he may have not been completely wrong. Although Lukas won more awards than Matias, Matias had still won Oscar’s before. I paced across the living room and glanced between them.
“What were you thinking?” I sat down on a chair on the side of the couch.
Lukas exhaled, obviously relieved. Matias smiled.
“I knew you’d come around! So we were thinking about a sci-fantasy movie right?”
I nodded.
“Well Matias was thinking we could add-“
They droned on for hours while I nodded every few minutes. With those two nerds out of the way I drove back to my apartment to prepare for my run. A body like mine doesn’t come easy, you have to work for it. So I got my running outfit and drove to Ridge Field park. That name tugged at me. Didn’t that dm say to meet them there? I almost didn’t want to go there to not run into them somehow, but I wasn’t going to let some crazy fan stop my routine. I hadn’t before and I wasn’t going to stop now.
I jogged along the path and listened to my music, glancing at the people around me. I calculated that they got about five minutes of exercise every day. And that was from walking to get to the refrigerator. One person caught my eye however. I was used to staring, in fact it was nearly just my life now. Which wasn’t a bad thing of course. But this girl wasn’t just staring, she was glaring. She was full on glaring at me. Not uncommon either, jealous people were inevitable. But something was different about this girl. I only saw her for a second before I passed her, but I felt this chill. Like she just took a look into my soul. I tried to shake it off and jogged a little faster. Suddenly wishing that my running routine was a little shorter.
I feel like I switched between past and present tense...

Simself Story (18+)
⚠️ CW: addiction, drugs, drug abuse, trauma ⚠️
Only 2 days after my stormy journey with Nico, I was back home. Today the weather was nice. No more thunderstorms or dark clouds over the sky. Maybe this is a good sign? So I went to Daniel’s & my place in the evening. He was waiting for me there. After more than 4 months, I'll finally see him again and get answers, I’ve been waiting for so long.
I arrived on our street. It was a beautiful summer night, many people were still on the road. There was a relaxed, cheerful mood in the air and a a familiar, pleasant smell, that almost attracted me. I wondered, who smells so good here?... I saw a handsome guy standing in front of me. I risked a quick look over to him, as I passed him. I still didn’t realize, that Daniel was the good-smelling guy.
Tumblr media
D.'s hair looked a bit different compared to a few months earlier. That’s why I didn’t expect him, who looked at me.
Tumblr media
But as soon as I saw his face, his cute smile and those stunning green eyes, I knew it was Daniel. And... uh, I could literally hear my Baby calling for me, "Mommy, don't forget me & Daddy!" 🤦‍♀️ (🙈🤭) Of course, the voice I heard in my head was not my Baby’s, but my own, my conscience! I already guessed, something would happen tonight that would change me. I mean my attitude to.... love, or the dilemma I was stuck in.
Tumblr media
Daniel: You’ve always been beautiful and yet, you get more beautiful.
Me: 😳😳...............Is this real?
Tumblr media
Daniel: You’re sober, I suppose. So yea, it's real! But let me show you, babe.
Me: Okay! This time, it's definitely real, not a dream!
Daniel: I’ve always told you, I will never leave you...... I’m so sorry. I will explain why I was gone, but can we just be together for a moment?
Tumblr media
Me: You have 24 hours with me, but I can't stay with you.
Daniel: You're not going anywhere! We're still married!
Me: You're gonna hate me, once you get to know, what I did.
Daniel: No, certainly not. No matter what you did, ILY.. Let's go up.
Tumblr media
Daniel was totally cute but honestly, I felt pretty stupid. This isn’t a date! I wanted answers! So I finally asked him to TALK!
Me: Stop it, D.! I can’t anymore! So....Why? Why did you put me through that??
⚠️CW ⚠️
Daniel: I wasn't myself. But now I’m fine. I’m on meds. This helps.. Anyway! The abridged version: The guy with the black hoodie was back! He saw me at the place where I bought drugs. I knew the guy didn’t mean anything good when I saw him watching Sofia and you doing drugs a few moths ago. Well, he knew me! He wanted something back from me, that I supposedly took away from him, a damn watch or something??... It was about the time more than 2 years ago. Elena's fucker and those drugs.... I should have got something that belonged to him, but...I was sure, I never got his shit he was looking for. That weirdo didn't believe me. He followed me. He left me messages, notes, like a parking ticket on my car's windscreen. He threatened to take something away from me too, something that cannot be replaced. I ignored it.... Also, when I saw Alex trying to get between us, I went nuts. Now I know, my brother was just trying to help us, but after that night at the club, the fight between Alex & me, something happened. Normally Alex always accompanied me, when I went to buy drugs. But since I was pissed at him, I went on my own. I got a really bad withdrawal. So I did a line there. I was hanging up with some.... guys, druggies. And.... the guy with the black hoddie also came. Idk exactly how it happened? I don’t quite remember. But he, and someone else... they...shoot me heroin, against my will. I must have been lying there for a few hours. When I woke up, everything was still there. The syringe, a lighter that wasn’t mine and.... my left sleeve was rolled up. As I moved my arm to get up, I felt it. So it was real. It really happend. I took the syringe with me, I wanted to have it checked by a lab. I went to our doc. I told him about it. He took blood from me to see if I was..... positive. He said even if my test turned out negative, he still can’t give me a all-clear yet. Only after 3 months it will show, whether I was lucky or not. But since I took the syringe with me, he tested it. It was clean! Still, I wasn't sure, yk? I had to stay away from you. What if I was positive? I was afraid I could infect you.
Tumblr media
Me: Fuck, Daniel!😨 I’m so sorry you got.... hurt again ... But why the hell didn’t you just tell me?? I never would have blamed you for that. 😟
Daniel: And that’s exactly why I couldn’t tell you! You still don’t realize the seriousness of the situation. We had both relapsed!! Didn’t you listen to me? I had a fucking junk shot in my arm!!
Me: But, that wasn’t your fault or intention. I mean, what’s that got to do with me? You think I'd shoot or what?
Daniel: I know you would do it without batting an eye, if I did it again.
Tumblr media
Me: What?... You're such an ass! I don't believe you! Where’s Tina, Daniel? She disappeared or went into hiding just like you. Right after you remembered her, she was gone.
Daniel: The fuck...??
Tumblr media
Daniel: You still think I’m screwing Tina? Seriously now? 😠
Me: Not just Tina! Why were you at Irena's? She told me herself!
Daniel: I swear you're still nuts!... But yes, I had to get into my old apartment somehow .I told her a lie, to get into her apartment. You remember? The wooden floor in the bedroom? Where we used to hide our drugs? That’s why I was there! I thought I might have forgotten something? I mean those damn things, this guy wanted from me. Maybe I missed something then, that seemed unimportant to me? Yk?... Anyway, Irena caught me. She thought I was hiding drugs or something? Like I used to. She got really mad and kicked me out. That's ALL! You got it? And I don’t give a shit about Tina! I still don’t remember her!! And I doubt that anything has ever happened. For me, Tina is just a fucking liar, who started all this... MESS here. Tina and the secrets you shared with my brother... have triggered that.... shit, my madness in me. So pls, let's drop this! 😠
Tumblr media
Me: But I still don't get why you left me? 😟
Daniel: Babe, be honest with yourself, then you will see it. I mean, you don’t have to pretend or suppress, what you told or asked me yourself.
Me: I didn’t mean that, I was just talking about it. I said IF, I ever do that, then only with you! Yk? IF, Daniel, not I want!!! I didn’t know you were so sensitive about it?
Tumblr media
Daniel: What if I had stayed? We both would have continued until we get back to the point, where we don’t give a shit about anything. Tbh, I had already reached this point, but I didn’t want to drag you down with me. The truth is, I never meant to leave you in uncertainty for so long. I thought after a few days, I will call you back to explain everything, but the longer I didn't, the harder it was for me to call you. And I was always high, babe. When I wasn’t, I was busy getting money. Until I had nothing. That day I went to my Dad. But just some days later, I took off again. It wasn’t until he and Alex found me a second time, that I realized, what I was actually doing. I had to get clean, to get back to you. So I was in a clinic for 4 weeks. They suspected I was suffering from an acute, traumatic stress disorder. The pain I had in my left half and the constant trembling in my fingers.... They asked me, why and how I got this. I told the docs there what happend to us. They gave me meds. They said after two weeks, I’ll feel different, better! Like I used to. And indeed, I felt a relief after a while, an improvement. 4 more weeks later, I was myself again. I became aware that my behavior before and my actions, were not normal. I would never have acted like this!! I hope you understand me and if you let me, I’ll make it up to you.
Tumblr media
Me: You don’t have to make amends for me. You also helped me. You tried everything to help me get rid of my panic attacks. I just wish............. I had known all this before.
That’s so terrible what happened to Daniel. Those 4 men who attacked us in the middle of the street wanted to kill Daniel 7 months ago. And now something happened to him again. It shocked me so much that I didn’t want to believe it at first. How do I tell him about Nico, our Baby & me?? But also Nico. I promised him, Daniel's return, would nothing change for me, but........ can I keep it?

Chronic

Pain
Tumblr media
I wake to a crack and a pounding
Ears ringing and neck aching
I ask myself as I sink into the mattress
What will today bring?
I go through the motions, four, sometimes three
Taken with whatever liquid I have lying around
Just to give me peace for a few hours.
I spin in my brain wondering
Is this even real?
Or am I just that weak?
Am I so weak that I can hardly move?
Is what the white walled people say true?
Is there really nothing wrong?
I don’t believe that
I can’t believe it
I search and search but can’t find it
I can’t find the answer
I plow into the internet trying to drown it all out
But I’m reminded every time I stand up
That I am broken.
I’m broke like a mirror
Who can’t be glued back together
Because some of the shards are still missing
And I wonder to myself
If they find that shard and glue my pieces together
Will my reflection still look the same?
I’m flickering like a dying candle
Grasping tightly onto what I have left
I engorge myself to feel reprieve
But it only lasts for a moment
I wonder if the white walled people hate me
If they laugh behind closed doors
Because I come to them time and time again
With the same complaints of before.
I feel like a burden to my own body
A burden for wanting answers
A burden for asking for help
So I curl it all up
Not say a word
Because the pain won’t subside
Even if I talk about it
That much I know
But I fear it’s getting worse
The movements shoot like lightning bolts
The cracks become more frequent
The horrible sounds, like a cog getting stuck in a machine reverberate so loudly
Yet im still told there’s nothing wrong
I’m still told I’m perfectly normal
What do I do when I can’t trust the ones who are said to help
Who do I trust?
I cannot trust myself
I cut that ribbon a long time ago
So here I am
Waiting and waiting
Hoping one day
The answer will fall from the sky
And plop into my lap
And I pray that when that day comes
It won’t already be too late.

Note
I let the phone fall and hang up, sliding it back into the girl’s jacket pocket before leaning in my corner.
It’s easy to let myself fall asleep.
It’s harder to wake up.
For the next week I’m only up in small minute increments, the wound in my thigh more severe than I previously thought, coupled with heavy bruises from the various hits Maul deals out in the days following anyway.
Wasting away, that’s all I’m doing.
That first day, as soon as he hangs up, Obi-Wan spends the greater part of two hours informing the boys about what's happened and drilling into them that no matter what, Anakin cannot know until you've been located.
If Anakin knew, and couldn't find you right away... Christ, the world might just end in a bloody rampage.
It takes several days before they get the next clue, and it's all thanks to Hunter. He manages to nab one of Sidious' men off the street and take him to the lowest levels of the tower, tying him to a chair.
And, though Obi-Wan knows it's traumatic for the man, Hunter still tortures the information out of him exactly how he was tortured at Sidious'. Only, this man gives answers. Hunter never did. Obi-Wan makes a mental note to add to Hunter's paycheck for the hard work.
Only when Hunter has the location and a confirmation that you are there does Obi sit Anakin down in their living room, after a wine-filled dinner. He may need it.
"I'm going to tell you something, Anakin," he preludes, "And I need- I need you to take this news as calmly as possible. And know that we're handling it."
Anakin stares at him for a long moment. "I'm gonna need you to start talking right now."
"Yes of course- just remember to-"
"Obi-Wan."
"Breathe," he says gentler, nodding a little. There's no good way to say this, so he just... gets it over with. "Sidious has Lili."
Anakin blanches, "What?"
"He's had her... since the day she left here. Anakin-" he claps a hand on Anakin's shoulder and forces him to sit back down as the man bolts to his feet. "SIT. I've got it under control. The boys have been looking."
"How- how did- how-"
"She called me," Obi-Wan says softer. "She called me very briefly and said Maul is going to kill you at that gala we were planning to attend. And then she told me she was stuck there. The boys are on their way to the establishment right now, I figured we could go as well."
"Well I'm certainly not fucking sitting around and waiting uselessly," Anakin nods, blinking. "Let's go, then."
"Are you sure you can handle it?" Obi-Wan double-checks, studying his husband's features.
"Yes. Of course I'm sure- that's my fucking- she's everything to me, Ben." He uses a nickname that's pretty rare for Obi-Wan, usually only incorporating it when he needs the boss to know he's serious. "I'm going to get her back."
"I believe you." Obi-Wan pats his shoulder and then rises from the couch, quickly paging Ahsoka to drive them. "She'll be alright, Anakin."
Anakin grabs two extra guns on the way out, making sure all of them are fully loaded before following Obi-Wan down to the car.
And from there, Ahsoka speeds to the airport, getting them to their private jet as fast as possible. The boys are already there, strapped in and ready to go. Considering how frantic Anakin feels, he and Obi-Wan get settled in record time so the pilot can take off.
It's an entire day's flight and then a several-hour drive to the establishment, but the group finally makes it there, guns loaded and knives sharpened.
To Cody's delight, Obi-Wan even let him get out the explosives. First time for everything- and today, his first time shooting an RPG.
They move in quietly, until they're within range for Cody to fire, focusing the first rocket on the main doors.
And as that first explosion rocks the building a little, and the surviving girls in the basement with you look around, Anakin hurries forward. Faster than Cody, faster than Hunter- probably faster than he's ever made himself run before in his entire life.
Ahsoka's safe back at the airport they took off from. Obi-Wan is here, along with the best fighters he's ever known. And you're in that god damn building. What reason would he have to hold back at all? Whatever it takes to get you out, to get you home, he's going to do it.
Your life over his. That's what it's always been about. No matter how things ended or how you may feel about him now, that's all that he cares about. Getting you home safe.
So he shoots the guards down at the door point-blank, blood seeping from the bullet wounds in their foreheads as he sprints past their bodies toward the stairwell.

                                    *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
Collin and I laughed as we both carried Violet through the foyer of the home, clearly someone had too much to drink. My mother-in-law continued to deny this through her giggling.
“Of course not, you are completely sober.” Collin joked as we made it to the stairs.
“And I’m sober enough to know when you’re being impertinent.” Violet said to her son, still holding my hand.“Good night dears.”
“Good night mother.”
“Good night.”
Collin and I shared a look as she went upstairs, failing to hold in our laughter. We both doubled over as we laughed, until we heard someone call us. Turning to our left, we saw Anthony and Benedict in the doorway.
“Come here.” Anthony hissed.
“Good God. Did someone die?” Collin whined.
“What? What’s happened?” I asked, suddenly panicking.
“Collin, get here, now.” Anthony instructed, his younger brother complying.
I followed.“Anthony, what’s wrong? Is someone hurt? Are you in trouble?” I didn’t mean for all the questions but I loved him too much for something to happen to him.
He shoved Collin inside, stepping out and shutting the door behind him.“It doesn’t concern you darling. Just go up to bed.”
“Wait,” I grabbed onto his arm before he could get away,“Anthony, please don’t shut me out.”
“This isn’t for women’s ears. Please, do as I say.”
Anthony kissed my forehead tenderly, before he quickly ripped his arm away, looking sympathetic as he did so. The door shut, and although I was tempted to burst in there, I knew this was something out of my league. Sighing, I reluctantly walked away, slipping off my heels before slowly making my way upstairs.
As I prepared for bed, my mind was distant. I couldn’t stop wondering what their meeting was about. Anthony looked stressed (even more than usual), and the fact that the eldest brothers were together meant this business was serious. Once my maids were finished and gone, I sat up in bed, having left some candles lit. At first I thought reading might take my mind off things, but the romantic novel only made me think of my husband more. I was tired from the ball, feet throbbing from dancing, which made me believe I could fall asleep. I wasn’t able to fool myself, unfortunately stuck awake again. Groaning in frustration, I stood, making my way to the door. I hesitated, wondering if I should really go storming downstairs when Anthony told me otherwise. No, I had to check on my love.
Opening the door, I heard someone else do the same. Poking my head out, I looked down the hall, seeing Daphne also awake. She rushed towards me, grabbing my hand without a word and dragging me out of my room.
“Woah, Daphne, woah, slow down!” I exclaimed quietly, stopping her at the top of the stairs.“Why are you rushing downstairs? What’s wrong?”
“My brother is doing something terribly stupid, and I cannot stand by doing nothing.” She said, tugging on my arm as she continued her route.
That made my heart beat even greater, terrified for what my husband could be a part of. I kept up with her, still tightly holding her hand until we burst into the room the men had their meeting in. Collin was the only one in there, looking alarmed when he saw us.
“Where have they gone?” Daphne demanded to know.
Collin sighed.“Daph-”
“Tell me where this duel takes place.”
“And why would I do that?”
“Duel?! Anthony has gone to a duel?! With who?!” I exclaimed.
“So that I may prevent it from happening.” Daphne continued.
“Hastings has done you a grave dishonour.”
“Can someone please explain what is happening?” I stood beside them, though neither took any notice.“What does the Duke of Hastings have to do with any of this?”
“Surely you wish to see him pay?”
“Not with his life.” Daphne snapped back.
“Anthony is dueling with Hastings?! What if they kill each other?”
“It will not come to that.” Collin finally addressed me.“The Duke will remember his honour once he finds himself on the deadly end of a pistol.”
“And if he does not?” Daphne said.
“They will both do the gentlemanly thing and fire their pistols wide. Now allow them to bring this ugly business to a conclusion themselves.”
Daphne groaned as I began pacing around the room.“Do you know how many times I’ve heard that said? Myself and (Y/N)? That we should leave the men to their business and to not concern ourselves with such weighty affairs? Whose affairs, right now, are my future, my family.”
“This isn’t going to end well, you know it Collin.” I stopped walking around, crossing my arms over my chest in frustration.
“(Y/N) is right. Anthony is too angry to fire wide and Simon is too stubborn to yield. You did not see them in that garden.”
“No, I did not, and neither did anyone else. You should be happy that no one saw anything.” Collin pointed out.
So something dishonourable happened in the gardens of the party. Something that has cause my husband to want to duel an old friend. Part of me felt slightly angered towards Daphne, she had been playing with fire around the Duke, it’s all Anthony went on about for the last few weeks.
“Only someone did see.” Daphne realised.
Collin and I stared at her wide eyed.
“Cressida Cowper. Collin, you must tell me where they’ve gone.”
“I’m coming with you.” I declared.
“Neither of you are going, Anthony will have my head-”
“Collin.” I stood in front of him, putting on the angriest face I could.“My husband may be about to lose his life and I knew nothing about it. Believe me, he will be reprimanded for that, but if you do not tell us where these stupid men are right now, it will be me having your head, not Anthony!”
After pressuring Collin to reveal where the men were, we raced to the stables, both Daphne and I still in our nightgowns, with only a cloak to cover us from the wind whipping against us as we rode. Our poor horses were not expecting this early call, using what energy they had to gallop as fast as possible. My throat was dry, heart racing and mind drowning with thoughts about what could be happening right now. Had they even started? Were the shots fired?
We rode out of the country and into large fields. It seemed that we would never reach them in time. I kept my eye out for any signs of people or horses, praying that my husband wouldn’t be bleeding out on the ground. Why hadn’t he told me? He hadn’t even said goodbye. All I got was a simple kiss on the forehead, nothing other than that. Even if he did survive, he would have to leave this place, but was he going to leave without me?
“There they are!” Daphne shouted to us, speeding her horse ahead.
“Daphne! Wait!” I yelled after her, but she was too far away.
There were multiple bodies up ahead, and it looked like the duel had only just started, they were taking their steps already. I urged my horse to go faster, screaming Anthony’s name, but he couldn’t hear me. The men turned, ready to aim and fire. Tears started falling down my cheeks, quickly drying from the wind hitting my face. I was getting so close, but it still wasn’t enough. Daphne had somehow made it to them, but as the gunshots echoed out, she was caught in the middle of it, her horse rearing up and throwing her off.
As she landed on the ground, my horse also got spooked, rearing up as hers did, though I managed to stay on. However, it went hurtling forwards, and I couldn’t regain any control. I screamed as I tried to grab the rein again, feeling my balance slip away. One minute I was managing to stay upright on the horse, the next I had fallen off to my left, with my foot still hooked onto the stirrup. My head hit the ground harshly, and I was dragged through the dirt and grass as my horse continued to gallop. I couldn’t make out where I was, or what was right or left. Suddenly, the horse started slowing down, the dragging finally stopping. As I figured out where I was, my head still spinning, I felt someone lift my leg out of the stirrup and slowly onto the floor.
“(Y/N), (Y/N) can you hear me?” Anthony gently held my face in his hands, kneeling beside me.
“My head...” I moaned.
“It’s alright, my dear.” an older man appeared, and I only just realised he was also kneeling beside me.“You’ve hit your head quite hard, you’ll likely have bruises along your back, and your leg will ache. But it’s nothing rest won’t fix. If you have severe headaches, you should call upon me again to give you something for it. For now, I shall forget I ever saw any of this, just as we agreed.”
“Thank you doctor.” Anthony breathed out, helping me sit up as the doctor walked away.
I clung onto his arm, using my other hand to pull his face closer to mine. I kissed him hard, relieved that he was still alive and unharmed. He seemed to be feeling the same way as me, until I pulled away and slapped him round the face. His mouth was open in shock.
“That’s for going to a duel without telling me.”
“(Y/N), I...what?”
“I can’t believe you thought you could just go and get shot, or shoot someone and leave me behind! What would happen to me? I couldn’t bear it if you died, or left, either way, I am furious with you!”
“Darling, I had to do it. He dishonoured Daphne, therefore, dishonouring our name.”
I tried to stand by myself, though felt dizzy, annoyed that I had to have Anthony to help me. He kept his arms around me, and although I loved the feeling, knowing he was safe, I had a hatred for him in that moment.
“But why wouldn’t you tell me?” I looked up at him, ignoring the throbbing in my head.
“We would have to leave society, make a life as...I don’t know what but we wouldn’t be allowed here anymore.”
“So? Do you really think I regard myself so highly that I would diminish my love for you to remain in society?”
“What?”
“Anthony, I would rather leave all of this behind, and be with you wherever you go in the world. That fact that you think I would prefer to live without you hurts me.”
“(Y/N), I didn’t mean-”
I slipped out of his hold, hopefully stable now.“I don’t want to speak of this right now. I’m finished with this topic of conversation.”
Anthony knew there was no point trying to reason with me in that moment. It was also no time to argue when there were more pressing matters at hand. He huffed, only walking away from me once Collin approached, letting me loop my arm through his for support. I watched as he glared at Simon, who was in a deep discussion with Daphne.
“We must resume before someone should find us.” he said to Simon before taking a pistol from Benedict again.
“There will be no need to resume.” Daphne spoke up. We all looked at her, wondering how she was going to stop the duel.“The Duke and I are to be married.”
                                     *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
We had all ensured we were home before any of the staff could see us, slipping out of our dirty clothes and stuffing them under the bed. I had struggled, feeling nauseous as I rushed. But as I lay down in bed, my headache suddenly returning and my back aching, I heard the door lock. Anthony threw the key onto his desk in the room, hands on his hips as he paced.
“Anthony.” I tried to stop him.“Anthony, please don’t do that.”
“I’m thinking (Y/N).” he mumbled.
“Then why don’t you think in your office? You’re making me dizzy. And nervous.”
“Do not speak to me like that. You do realise how this might tarnish our name?”
“They’re getting married, it will be fine Anthony.”
“It does not matter, he still dishonoured her, I saw it myself.”
“And you have not done that yourself in the past?”
That made him stop in his tracks. His head turned to me so quickly I though his neck would snap off.“They were not eligible ladies.”
“And that makes a difference? Anthony, I need to rest, please leave me.” I turned onto my side, pulling the covers higher so they almost covered my face.
He groaned, and I instantly regretted what I had said. His footsteps were loud as he made his way to the door, but I never heard it being unlocked. He sounded like he was now approaching the bed, and I found out I was right when the bed dipped in front of me me. I opened my eyes to see Anthony shuffling around, and I heard two light thumps on the floor from taking off his boots, before he lifted and covers; he shuffled in towards me, gently putting his arm under my pillow, moving as close as he could to me.
“You are right.” his voice was quieter now.“I, along with many men, have...done things in the past. Those women are, were meant for those things, but as soon as I saw you in the room, I knew I had to approach you. I remember that beautiful blue dress you were wearing, and how well you held yourself. But you were still so enticing, I found you to be so interesting, yet you only spoke with me for five minutes. You danced so elegantly, yet I still thought I could keep up with you.”
“If you are trying to make me swoon so I forget all about earlier, it isn’t working. You use the same story every time.” I said.
“Because it’s one of the best ones. I could retale about the time I saw you first promenading, the balls and social events we coincidentally went to, how I called upon your house-”
“Anthony, you may stop.” I tried not to giggle, but my smile was evident.“I am still angry at you for putting yourself in such an idiotic and dangerous situation. However, I deeply admire your love for your family, I know you would do anything for them. Just...if you ever do anything like that again, you are to inform me of your plans. I go wherever you go.”
“I promise. I was stupid to think I could do that to you. I just wanted to make sure you would still have a good life.”
“The only way I would have a good life is by being with you.”
Anthony smiled, tenderly kissing me.“You should rest darling. You’re hurt.”
“As long as you stay here with me.”
“I promise.”

The great adventures of y/n tommy tubbo and jack - using tanks to battle
requested: yes/no
this is part 11 to the great adventures series
it was now 5 am you had been on facetime with ranboo since he started streaming at 10 pm neither of you was going to sleep anytime soon
“isn’t it like 5 am for you”
“trying to get rid of me then”
“no no no soon enough I’m going to be stuck with you pretty much 24/7”
“heh? aren’t you staying with tubbo when you come to the UK?”
you watched his face turn red thinking that he had said something that he wasn’t supposed to tell you it was only when he looked up to see you with your head tilted he realised you weren’t aware of what was going to happen in the following weeks
“I will tackle you in the middle of the airport if you don’t tell me what you tubbo and lani mean when you all make comments about me constantly being around yous”
“I cannot wait to see you try”
“I'm blocking you”
hours passed and it was now time for you to get ready to go meet the others you left your phone on your bed whilst you went to get ready by the time you returned ranboo had fallen asleep
“goodnight boo not long now till you’re in the UK, you’re asleep I’m talking to myself goodnight”
since your parents had to go to work they offered to drop you off on the way, the journey to meet the others was pretty uneventful you just spent the time talking about how streaming was going and future plans. that was until your parents mentioned ranboo was flying over soon
“your friend is flying over soon right?”
“ranboo oh yeah yeah he gets here on 26th as far as I’m aware i’m going to tackle him in the middle of the airport”
“great great you’re going with tubbo to meet him, do you know how long you’re going to be out”
“..no why? shouldn’t be too long”
“don’t worry about it darling we’re here now oh look here comes tubbo”
as soon as the car stopped you laughed as you noticed in the corner of your eye tubbo running towards the car you said your goodbyes as you got out of the car and was instantly pulled away by tubbo
“oh oh okay tubbo I think I can walk on my own bud”
tubbo completely ignored every word you had just said and continued leading the way to the others where you were met by Tommy shouting about tanks and jack pretending not to know Tommy.
the four of you went to get ready, a simple enough task or so you thought as when you looked up you noticed Tommy was putting the outfit on the wrong way around
“Are you sure it’s safe for Tommy to drive a tank..”
“help me then”
“no”
a few minutes later the four of you were now equipped with your rather baggy army uniform safe to say if it started to rain you'd have to deal with getting wet as if you put the hood up it would cover your eyes taking away your eyesight which is unsurprisingly important since you were about to drive a tank for the first time. as soon as you all thought you were ready to go to the tanks tubbo announced that although it’s a bad time he needs to go to the toilet
“he’s fucking waddling”
“y/n be nice to your best friend”
you stood laughing to yourself as Tommy was arguing with Jack about how he’s your best friend, not tubbo.
“believe it or not I’m their best friend”
“elaborate on that”
“no”
“i’d argue ranboos their best friend”
halfway through their ‘argument’ tubbo came back and rested his head on your shoulder making you jump
“you're so tiny”
“I beg your pardon tubso”
the worker came over taking you all to the tank you would be driving putting Tommy and jacks argument on hold, for the time being, you were honestly so excited to drive a tank but you were also nervous as you weren’t exactly a great driver
“y/n doesn’t have a license can I get out the tank when it’s their turn”
“you crashed your parents' car fuck off”
before you all got in you were informed that the tank wasn’t designed to take you on adventures so you were probably going to get injured
“great cant wait in you go Tommy”
Tommy got in first followed by you then tubbo and jack
“draw me like one of your beautiful tank girls”
“I failed GCSE art”
“HOW”
“that my friend is a story for another night”
now this tank wasn’t designed so three of you could look out from the top of the tank so you did what every sensible person would do in a tank…you sat on the floor next to tubbo whilst he annoyed jack by touching his face
“y/n you okay down there”
“having the time of my life”
you could hear Tommy revving the tank and from then you could just tell you were going to leave the tank covered in bruises. you sat talking to tubbo and jack who were talking louder than usual just so you could join in the conversation. not seeing what was happening made the tank ride interesting, to say the least. one minute you were messing with tubbos shoelaces the next minute you heard three boys yelling that there was a cow in the middle of the road. it was now tubbos turn to drive and rather than letting you stay with the others he dragged you with him
“you’re driving next may as well stay with me”
“Please don’t crash I will get injured”
“to be fair y/n I didn’t plan on it”
you sat near tubbo watching him drive the tank occasionally yelling words of encouragement at him for your own entertainment and totally not to your surprise he was actually doing a decent job, he didn’t crash, the tank was going quicker and the ride wasn’t as bumpy then tubbo stalled, you could hear Tommy and jack yelling at tubbo to do more killing. you laughed as tubbo would look at the worker then at you not knowing what to do
“Are you ready to drive y/n”
“I guess so”
you and tubbo swapped places and you began to drive like your good friend tubbo you were decent at driving as you managed to pick up some speed along with many comments from jack and Tommy about how bumpy the ride was alongside tubbo yelling at you that you were going to be responsible for the bruises on his arms and legs
“tubbo stop being dramatic it’s not my fault the road is bumpy”
“Y/N I'M NOT”
“Okay then you’re responsible for the bruises on my arms and legs because you decided to stall”
It was now jacks turn you sat next to tubbo where you and Tommy argued that you didn’t like how Minecraft split the caves and cliffs update into two parts
“IT SAID CAVES AND CLIFFS UPDATE AND IT DIDN'T ADD CAVES AND CLIFFS UPDATE”
“you're such a tory y/n agrees with me”
“NO I DON'T I WANTED TO EXPLORE PRETTY CAVES NOT GET CHUCKED OFF OF A CLIFF BY A GOAT”
the three of you continued arguing your points before jack interrupted you all
“we’re talking about the new Minecraft update…because it was you we weren’t really paying attention”
“I DROVE BETTER THAN ALL THREE OF YOU”
“but no you didn’t”
“YOU'RE A PRICK MANIFOLD”
before Jack could answer Tommy began ranting about the update again before being once again interrupted by jack telling him you were about to shoot things and then go up against a tank that was miles better than the one you were all in, the one thing they didn’t know is you would be going with the boss against them just so you could actually have a role in the mini battle rather than just sitting there. you stood shaking your head as Tommy and tubbo made jokes about the balls you were all given
“say it”
“I like balls”
“jack they’re talking about balls…again”
Tommy was first to shoot whilst you and tubbo stood telling jack that the two of you would be the reason you win the battle against the boss, jack went up next and you both were telling Tommy that you weren’t scared of the boss after the last bit of practice you all went back to reception with the worker where he announced the roles you were all going to have
“so my aimer loader and driver”
“Are we allowed to ram tanks”
“no”
jack was the first to realise you hadn’t received a role for the fight against the boss and spoke up about it making tubbo and Tommy realise you did in fact not receive a role
“wait what about y/n they didn’t receive a role”
the worker just nodded at the four of you confusing the hell out of the others while you stood looking around the room to avoid laughing, you didn’t want the others to know so said you’d be back later you just needed to go to the bathroom. rather than going to the bathroom you went off to meet the boss before the others and decided what role you were going to have.
after discussing what role you were going to have the pair of you went back to meet the worker to let him know you have a plan
“LOOK ITS THE BOSS”
“…and y/n”
“oh now we’re losing”
the worker went up to their table to create a plan, once you watched the worker walk away you made your way over to the table they moved to where Tommy was having a ‘date’ with a mannequin
“Woah am I interrupting something”
“I'm on a date y/n”
“y/n you really had to leave me with tubbo and Tommy”
you whispered that you were sorry so Tommy and tubbo couldn’t hear then turned your attention back towards Tommy’s date which wasn’t going very well as Tommy accidentally pulled the wig off of one of the mannequins only to find out that his ‘date’ was also wearing a wig.
it was now time for the battle clearly best friends think alike as you and tubbo both had the role of driver. you and the boss made a strong team and you surprisingly got along well with each other which made teamwork easy making you more of a challenge for Tommy’s team
“yooo this is amazing”
“you’re doing great y/n”
as soon as the boss made the final shot you cheered
“do you think we won then y/n”
“I'm not sure they did put up a good fight”
“come on let’s head back so you can be with your friends again”
the pair of you made it back after thanking him you ran to tubbo, who for some reason was on the floor, and tackled him into a hug before sitting next to him
“AH FUCK”
“HI TUBSO WHY ARE YOU IN THE MUD”
“BECAUSE WE WON”
“mhm sure”
“What role did you have y/n”
“driver”
“NO WAY ME TOO”
your celebration was short-lived as Tommy decided to chuck mud at the pair of you yelling catch when it was far too late to react, you both looked at each other nodded at chucked mud back at him and jack
“ayo we hit him”
after playing in the mud with tubbo for a while jack called you both over to hear the scores and find out who won
“Why do you both have smiley faces on your face”
“y/n used mud to draw a smiley face on my cheek so I got revenge”
in the end, Tommy's team got 10 and began celebrating that they had won
“the boss and y/n got 11”
“LETS GOOOOO”
after bragging about your win you and tubbo ran off throwing mud at each other and Tommy whilst Tommy and jack bickered about who made them lose a few moments later you and tubbo looked up to see Tommy running past you both
“I don't think he's taking the news well”
you all made your way back to the car park Tommy and jack left together tubbo stayed with you waiting for your parents to pick you up on their way back home.
“you could just stay the night at mine..we could stream for a little while I’m sure you’ve left something that you can wear for the night and tomorrow and to be fair you stay at mine all the time”
“yeah I probably do I’ll call them on the way back to yours”
“come on let’s go home”

This Side of Normal Ch. 10
AO3
Prev
Marinette glances around the silent table, willing Jason to say something. Or do something. Or even Dick. She needed one of them to start a conversation, because Adrien hated awkward silences. And if this silence went on much longer, he was definitely going to say something and then she would regret it. Horribly.
“These rolls are purr-fect.” Adrien says, out of nowhere. Marinette lets out a groan, of course he’d skip straight ahead to the cat puns. Of course that’s where his freaking mind was tonight.
“Aren’t they? I’d say Alfred’s cooking is pretty claw-some, myself.” Dick speaks up, grinning at Adrien. Marinette looks at him, wide eyed.
“That’s it. I’ll find a new trapeze partner and a new best friend. Both of you are out of my life.” She deadpans, ignoring Adrien’s offended gasp.
“But Bugaboo, who else would give you a hand with your crazy schemes?” Adrien asks, and Marinette turns to him, narrowing her eyes.
“I swear to god if you take your arm off right now you will never find it again.” She threatens, pointing her fork at him from across the table.
“But Mari, that joke needs the arm. It doesn’t work without it.” He pouts, she rolls her eyes and turns to Damian.
“I apologize for him. He thinks he’s funny.” She says, turning her glance back at Adrien. “He’s wrong.”
“Tt. I’m unbothered by his sense of humor. I have lived with Grayson for eight years. His humor is nothing compared to those horrors.” Damian quips, and Marinette swears his lips almost quirk into a smile. She snorts.
“Guess I made the right choice in throwing Dick to the curb, huh?” She teases, ignoring Dick’s gasp and Adrien’s reassurance to the man. Honestly, who was the adult here?
“It was for the best, Dupain-Cheng.” Damian says and Marinette winces slightly. The only person who called her by her last name (in regular conversation, anyway) was Chloe. And while the girl had long since given up full on bullying her, she still wasn’t Marinette’s best friend in the world.
“You can call me Marinette, my last name is kind of a mouthful.” She says, trying to be nonchalant about it. She’d heard him refer to everyone else as their last name the entire evening. She didn’t want to make him uncomfortable, but him calling her Dupain-Cheng was going to make her uncomfortable in the long run.
“Very well.” He says, and though he doesn’t say her name, she still counts it as a win. A throat clearing catches her attention and she glances at Jason who was glaring at Damian.
“What’s up, Jay?” She asks, quirking an eyebrow.
“Nothing Pixie Pop. Just thinking about the time you kicked the ass of that would be mugger.” He says, and Marinette frowns. Mugger? “You know, the one that was obsessed with you?” He clarifies, and she understands. Copycat had been reakumatized during Jason’s stay in Paris. And he had wanted nothing more than a date with Ladybug. Though, she couldn’t understand why he was bringing it up now.
“I am so lost.” She admits, shaking her head at her pseudo-brother. He grins.
“That’s fine, just sharing that you can kick ass with the table. In case someone wants to try something.” He says pointedly. Oh. He definitely caught the heart eyes she sent Damian back in the gym. Can he blame her, though? Her weakness was green eyes. And Damian’s were the greenest.
“I did walk in on you hogtied, Todd. I assumed she was a reputable fighter after that.” Damian says, and Marinette blushes furiously.
“I’m sorry, what happened?” Mr. Wayne asks, his vapid (and fake) smile replaced with a faux look of bewilderment. She briefly wondered if it was exhausting, putting on a constant act, until she remembered how tired she was throughout collège, before she started lycée and decided she didn’t really care. Yeah, acting constantly was tiring. But why did he do it? Jason nudges her lightly and she blinks, focusing back on the conversation.
“Oh, Jason and I sparred. He apparently had forgotten that I use my surroundings to my advantage and that Adrien is always on my side.” She explains, shooting Jason a smug smile. Jason huffs.
“Not always.” He says, and Marinette raises an eyebrow, crossing her arms and giving him a challenging look.
“Oh really? Name one time that Adrien took your side instead of mine.” She challenges. She grins as Jason starts to think, obviously wracking his brain.
“Earlier today!” Adrien pipes up, and she immediately turns to him, glaring.
“What?” She asks, confused. What had- oh. Of fucking course. “That doesn’t count!” She protests, narrowing her eyes.
“Why not?” Adrien asks, raising an eyebrow in a challenge. She scoffs.
“Because it wasn’t a fight or argument or anything. It was a joke.” She says.
“Are you talking about the adoption shit, cause that was definitely not a joke. All the kids B adopts definitely have trauma and certain features.” Jason cuts in, and Marinette sighs. Of course he would clue in.
“But- no. No. That was a fluke. A glitch in the matrix, obviously. You literally cannot name a singular other time. And technically, ya big jerk, you didn’t even name this time. Adrien did.” Marinette points out, glaring at Jason.
“I’m sorry, how long have you three known each other?” Mr. Wayne cuts in again, and this time- this time- she sees that some of the confusion on his face is real. But it looks odd, like he wasn’t used to expressing a real emotion. She really needed to remind herself to talk to Jason about this later. She didn’t necessarily want to make it a habit to stick billionaire fathers with asshole tendencies in jail, but she would. She’d do it for her boys. Any day of the week. She hums in thought, adding up the time. The anniversary of Gabriel’s defeat had been a few weeks ago, which meant-
“We’ve known Jason for just over a year.” She says, before glancing at Adrien and grinning. “But I’ve been stuck with this goof for four years.”
“You know you love me.” Adrien says with a wide grin. She rolls her eyes.
“How exactly did you meet Jason?” Mr. Wayne asks, and she kind of wants to throw her fork at him. What was it, interrogate the random kids at dinner night? Though, to be fair, they were random kids in his house. But she refused to like the man until she’d talked to Jason about the potential assholeish tendencies.
“He helped me learn some self defence after I got caught up in an akuma attack.” Marinette lies smoothly. Well, it was technically a half truth. But the Waynes didn’t need to know that she was always caught up in akuma attacks.
“Akuma?” Mr. Wayne asks, and Marinette glances at Jason with a frown. Had he not told his father about anything? Not even the basics?
“Wait, is that what the thing that flooded Paris is called?” Dick asks suddenly and Marinette nearly flinches from the memory. That was one of the akumas that still gave her nightmares. One of the ones that was burned in the back of her eyelids when all she wanted was to sleep. And not think about bloated corpses and dead classmates for one goddamn minute. She lets out a steadying breath, glancing at Jason whose face had changed from annoyance to concern. She resists the urge to roll her eyes. She could talk about akumas. It was the past. Sure, she had refused all of the therapy options her parents gave her and Adrien, but she didn’t need it. She was fine.
“Yeah. Technically, her akumatized name was Siren. But, the general term for those attacks was ‘akuma’.” She says, gripping her fork a little tighter than necessary, grounding herself with Tikki’s reassuring nudges from inside her purse.
“There were more?” Dick asks, his eyes wide. Marinette glances at Jason and raises an eyebrow. Why had he not said anything? He’d been there for an entire month of Hawkmoth’s reign. He’d seen dozens of akuma attacks. Jason shrugs. Thank Jay. Super helpful.
“When you get down to it, there were probably hundreds if not thousands more. Some people, like Siren, were turned into the same akuma several times. Some people became a different akuma when they were akumatized again. I think it just depended on the person or their issue.” Marinette explains, hating how dry her mouth felt all of a sudden. She could talk about this. She could. So why was everything a little too bright? Why was the sound of forks against plates a little too loud?
“Did the Justice League stop it?” Damian asks, though by his tone, he seems to already know the answer. Odd.
“No, the local heroes did. Ladybug and Chat Noir.” Marinette says, ignoring the constricting feeling in her chest.
“Why-” Mr. Wayne starts, but Jason clears his throat. Everyone glances at him, and Marinette is unsurprised to see the flicker of anger in his eyes. Especially after she glances at Adrien and sees how pale he’s gotten. She kicks him lightly under the table to get his attention, frowning at him in a silent question. He nods, slightly. She purses her lips, not believing for a second that he was actually okay. But they could talk later. Away from eager ears.
“I’m sure you remember what Dick said about my phone call from when I first arrived in Paris. Marinette and Adrien dealt with attacks like that interrupting their day to day lives from thirteen to sixteen. I get that you’re not the best at knowing when to drop the damn topic, but I really think you should drop the damn topic.” Jason says, and though he’s smiling, Marinette can see the danger behind it. The warning. ‘Drop it, or I’ll make you’.
“My apologies, it was just so interesting.” Mr. Wayne says and this time Marinette winces at the falseness in his voice. And the smile on his face. God, this man could not have lasted a day in Hawkmoth’s Paris.
---
Finally, finally, dinner was over. After the akuma talk ceased, it was extremely awkward. Mr. Wayne looked like he would rather be anywhere else. And Marinette couldn’t blame him, wanting nothing more than to get back to her hotel room and away from the constant lack of real emotion on the eldest Wayne’s face. It was tiresome, just watching him.
“Thanks again, for having us.” Marinette says, mostly directing her comment to Dick and Alfred. Alfred just nods.
“Of course! Come back any time. Really soon, actually, so we can work more on the trapeze. I can’t lose my new trapeze buddy.” Dick says with a wide smile. Marinette holds back a sigh, nodding instead. She liked Dick, she did. But she’d definitely have to make sure that Mr. Wayne wouldn’t be around. She still wasn’t sure what to think of him.
“You should also spar with me, some time.” Damian speaks up and Marinette blinks in surprise.
“Spar. With...you?” She says, tilting her head in confusion. That came out of nowhere.
“Yes. You took down Todd easily, and I am far superior. You would actually have a challenge if we sparred.” He says. She smirks, and suddenly, with a burst of confidence she didn’t know she had, says:
“Sure thing, Pretty boy.” Before turning and walking straight out the door. The second she’s outside, she drops her head into her hands. “I can’t believe I just said that.” She mumbles under her breath.
“Pretty boy?” Adrien says with a smirk, she glares at him and moves down the front steps.
“Fuck you.” She says, no real venom in her voice. The boy knew how she got around crushes. He’d seen it firsthand. With him. With Luka. With Kagami. With the girl with bright green eyes who worked at the coffee shop across the street from the bakery. She was an absolute disaster. He was worse, but still. He wasn’t the one with the quickly developing crush on the youngest Wayne.
“Pretty boy?” Jason asks, a scowl on his face as he catches up to the two.
“Not another word, Jason.” She scowls at him, crossing her arms defiantly. He holds his hands up in surrender.
“Sure.” He says. Her mind rushes suddenly to her previous thought. Youngest Wayne. Damian Wayne. Hadn’t Lila- she snorts, before erupting into uncontrollable laughter, ignoring the worried looks from Adrien.
“I- oh my god, Jay.” She manages to say, straightening up and following Jason to the car he was borrowing to drive them back to the hotel.
“I’m completely lost.” He says.
“Join the club.” Adrien adds, and Marinette just laughs again.
“Your little brother is Damian Wayne.” She says, as if it should be obvious. Jason doesn’t get it, and neither does Adrien. But after a moment-
“Oh my god, that’s hilarious!” Adrien cries, letting out a chuckle. Jason huffs as the trio get into the car.
“Care to share with the class?” He asks, and Marinette snorts.
“Absolutely not, I dislike the majority of those people.” She says, referring to the group who was hopefully already in their rooms and not in the lobby of the hotel. “Now it’s funny that your brother is Damian Wayne because Lila made us come to Gotham instead of New York and London, because she’s dating him.” She explains and Jason scoffs.
“Yeah right.”
“Obviously she’s not actually dating him, Jay. But it’s freaking hilarious that she thinks she’s gonna get away with it. He definitely goes to Gotham Academy, and people are definitely going to call her out.” She says, not even trying to hide the absolute glee she’s feeling. If there was ever a time for all of Lila’s lies to come crashing down around her, now would be good. When she can’t just run away and claim Marinette set it up. If people Marinette didn’t even know called Lila out, well, that would be irrefutable evidence, right?
“Her regime is gonna topple and I’m gonna take you guys out for ice cream to celebrate.” Jason declares and Marinette laughs again. She was so against the idea of Gotham originally, but now, with Jason at their sides again, she’d decided that it wasn’t so bad. Suddenly remembering what had been on her mind most of the night, she turns to Jason.
“Jay, I have a serious question. And I know it’s a little hard to talk about but just know that we’re here for you to support you, and that we’ll figure out a way to make sure you and your brothers are safe and-”
“Whoa, Pix, calm down kiddo. You’re rambling again.” He says gently, furrowing his eyebrows. He pulls the car over to the side of the road and turns to put his full attention on the two. “What’s bothering you?” He asks.
“Is Mr. Wayne abusive?” She asks and Jason blinks. “I saw how hesitant you were to call him your father, and you were tense around him a lot of the night. And I don’t think the man had one legitimate expression all night. He was acting the whole time.” Marinette says, looking at him worriedly. “Look, Jay, I don’t necessarily want to make a habit of putting billionaires in jail, but I’d do it for you.”
“Is he- you would-” Jason stops and lets out a breath, obviously trying to compose himself. “No, kiddo, he’s not.” He finally says. Marinette frowns.
“Really?” She asks, and he sighs.
“Yeah, look. Our relationship has been...rough, for a couple years. We had a sort of falling out when I was a teenager and I stopped talking to him for several years. We reconnected a while ago, but it’s still rocky at times. I don’t usually call him dad or father or anything. He’s just Bruce, or B, to me.” Jason explains and Marinette nods, letting out a small sigh of relief.
“I was worried, Jay.” She admits, and Jason grins at her before pulling away from the curb again.
“I didn’t even catch on.” Adrien says with a frown. Marinette rolls her eyes, smiling at him with fondness.
“Course you didn’t Kitty. Reading people isn’t really your strong suit.” She says with a small smile. He huffs, but nods in agreement.
“True.” He says and Marinette laughs. She could officially take Bruce Wayne off her ‘threat to be dealt with immediately’ list and move him to ‘possible future annoyance’ list. A big improvement for the man, and it would mean she wouldn’t be as tense around him the next time she saw him.

*gif isn't mine* (ugh hes so fine im dying)
Tumblr media
I sat up straight and gasped, my eyes flying right open. I looked around frantically, sharp pain shooting right through my chest.
“Ow,” I whined, pressing my hand gently to my side.
“Oh, yeah. The first time you die here, it’ll hurt. I bet it’s not any different from what that ring does for you, though,” Kai’s voice ringed next to me.
My head snapped to him, memories of what he did to me flooding back.
“Get away from me!” I shouted, getting up out of the bed I was in.
“I did you a favour, Y/n. You should thank me!” He exclaimed.
“What favour! You robbed me of my only chance of getting home. Now we have no magic and the ascendent is broken!”
“Stop shouting. Ugh, you’re giving me a headache,” he whined.
I gave him a death glare. “You’re the one with the headache. You’re the one- I just… I’m going for a walk.”
I stomped out of the room, running down the stairs. I heard Kai’s footsteps from behind me. I walked as fast as I could without feeling any pain. Kai seemed to be full on sprinting, though, because he grabbed my wrist.
“Let me go!” I exclaimed. “Please, Y/n. I’m sorry,” Kai pleaded.
I jerked my body away from him. “Shove it, Malachai. If you want me to forgive you, then you better leave me alone right now.”
He looked at me with wide, fearful eyes. I didn’t wait for him to say anything. I turned on my heel and made my way out of the house and back to the woods. I stomped the whole way there, my hands balled in tight fists. My fingernails dug into my skin as tears stained my cheeks. I just could not believe Kai. I knew he was a sociopath and a dick, but I didn’t think he would try to rob me of my chance at happiness. It was stupid how I thought he would even think about someone else and not himself. Sometimes he made it seem like he did care, though. It also seemed as my attraction to him from the first time we met was still there. I needed to get rid of it. I needed to find a way to get out here. Without Kai.
I stopped walking as I realised I was deep in the woods. The cool breeze flew around me, calming me down. I closed my eyes and breathed out the air that I had been holding in. I opened my eyes to stare at the sky. It was a cloudless afternoon with bright sunshine. It was always like this. For the past few months this was all I had seen. I was more than sick of it. I wanted rain. Snow. Hail. Anything else but the sunshine for once.
I released my hands from their fists, reaching my right hand up to my side where Bonnie’s jacket still was. I let out a strangled, but happy sound. I unwrapped it from my body, seeing that it had a huge red blood spot that was mine. I ignored it and held it up to my face, hugging it closely to my chest.
“I’m getting out of here. I’m going home,” I promised to myself.
I stayed in the woods until the sun started to set. I spent my time walking around some more, making up a plan. I knew how the ascendent looked before it was broken, and I was sure that Bonnie’s grimoire, that was thankfully still here, had a diagram of some sort, too. I could just build it back up. I took a shop class in high school and used to build cars with my dad, so I was quite the mechanic. Getting it to work without magic was the hard part, though. I needed a Bennett witch to access the spell. I knew Kai still had some of Bonnie’s magic in him, but I couldn’t risk telling him the plan and having it work, only for him to leave me here again. Plus, it’s not like having him use Bonnie’s magic would actually work. He wasn't actually a Bennett. He just happened to have her magic in him.
I opened the door and stepped into the Salvatore house, looking around for Kai. I smiled, relieved that I couldn’t spot him anywhere. I shut the door behind me, kicking off my shoes and going to the liquor cabinet, popping off the top of a bottle of whiskey. I didn’t bother with a cup, I just downed it straight. The liquor burned my throat as I strutted to the kitchen, going over to the CD player and putting on Toni Braxton’s ‘Another Sad Love Song’.
I danced around and got out the ingredients for a strawberry cake. As Toni’s song came to an end, I heard the front door open. I groaned loudly, my mood dropping immediately. I left the kitchen to see what Kai was up to. I laughed incredulously as I saw him carrying multiple duffle bags and a backpack.
“Are you seriously moving in?” I asked.
“Yep,” he nodded. “What part of ‘leave me alone’ do you not understand? Do I need to spell it out for you so it can get through your thick skull?” I snapped, taking ahold of his arm and dragging him back to the front door.
“I understand!” He exclaimed. “Good. Then you’ll get out,” I sneered, pushing him out the door. I went to shut it, but his arm held the door open.
“I will smash your hand in this door,” I threatened.
“Yeah, I know, but hear me out. I can help you get back,” Kai said.
I scoffed, “I don’t want nor need your help. Get out.” I pushed the door further in his face. He dropped his bags and used both hands to keep it open.
“I know you don’t trust me and you have no reason to, but please. I still have Bonnie’s magic in me and I can fix the ascendent with her magic,” he begged. He pouted and put on his puppy dog face.
“No,” I said without any hesitation. “You get out of my life, okay? If I ever see you, hear you, or even smell you, you’re dead, okay?”
His eyes then filled with anger and frustration. “Fine!” He exclaimed. “You know, I only even wanted to help you because I want to get out of here. We both know that I would have only left you here alone.”
“Glad we’re on the same page, then,” I smiled sourly. “See you never.” And with that, I slammed the door in his face.
I sighed deeply, smiling in satisfaction. I went back to the kitchen and resumed my cake making.
A few hours later and I was finishing the last pieces of cake, and watching Forrest Gump.
“Life is like a box of chocolates, huh,” I muttered. “First I’m a regular girl with human friends and a family. And now I’m a girl who who has no family, vampires, werewolves, and witches for friends, and who is stuck in a never-ending prison world!”
I rolled my head around the couch ledge, my eyes looking out the window. It was pitch black now. The stars were shining brightly, many of them twinkling.
“Mom, Dad, Jenny, Andrew. Bonnie and Damon. If you’re out there, please help me. Send someone or something. I-I can’t do this alone, and I definitely don’t want Kai’s help. Please help me,” I cried out. I hugged a couch pillow and Bonnie’s jacket.
I hope someone could hear me up there. Otherwise I was screwed.
————
3 months later and I was still stuck in this hell-hole. Well, at least I think it had been 3 months. Ever since Kai kept me here, I had been counting the days. It had been approximately 90 days, give or take. I was beginning to think this was actually my own personal instead of Kai’s.
Speaking of Kai, he actually had been pretty good of avoiding me. In these 90 days, I have only ran into him twice. Once was while I was going for a morning jog and the other was when I was venturing into town, walking to the Mystic Grill and all the shops. During my stay, I have also been documenting my days with an old video camera I found. I knew that I would get out, but just in case, I would be able to have all those memories saved and if I died somehow and never came back and someone else got trapped here, they could see the glamorous life of Y/n L/n. Or what was left of it at least.
Today was going to be different, though. For the past few months, I had been sitting in my bedroom for most of the week, crying, talking to myself, screaming at the world. I had even considered killing myself once or twice, but I knew that I would only wake up in more pain and sadness. Every day I prayed and hoped for someone to come and find me. For my friends to find out a way to get to me, even though they didn’t have the ascendent or anything. It seems as more days past, the less and less hopeful I got, though. So, I decided that the only way I was getting out of here was to do it myself, regardless if I wasn’t a magical being.
And so right now, I was trying to build the ascendent. I was almost there, actually. It was just these little parts that were so frustrating to put back together.
“Go together, dammit!” I exclaimed out of frustration.
I put the device down, running my hands over my face, thinking of a solution.  Maybe I should ask Kai for help.
No. That would only end up with me screaming at him the whole time and potentially killing him.
But he probably still had some go Bonnie’s magic left. He could help me get out. And plus, I could just push him away last minute when we go through the portal.
I groaned out of annoyance. I didn’t know what the right answer was. I thought I did. I thought I could do this by myself. But it turns out I can’t. It’s a lot harder than I thought and the fact that I’m a human doesn’t help either. I bit my lip in thought, racking my brain for an answer.
“You have to ask him to help, Y/n. It’s the only way,” I sighed to myself.
I got up from my seat and put on my shoes and jacket. I went out of the house and got into Damon’s Chevy, driving it to Kai’s house. I clenched the steering wheel until my knuckles turned white as I parked in his driveway. Just the thought of seeing him made my stomach churn. Thing was, I didn’t quite know if it churned in a good way or bad.
I stepped out of the car, putting the keys in my jacket pocket. I walked up to the door and gave it a good 3 knocks. A waited a few minutes, but no answer. I knocked a few more times and waited another few minutes. Still no answer.
“Seriously?!” I whined, raising my hand to pound on the door, but Kai’s voice stopped me.
“What are you doing here?”
I turned around and saw him carrying grocery bags.
“Oh. Good, you’re here,” I said, stepping down from his porch.
“You never answered my question. What are you doing here?” He asked.
“I need your help,” I confessed.
His lips upturned into a smile. He let out a laugh. “Wow. Princess Y/n has gotten over her pride, huh?”
“And sociopathic Parker still harasses me with nicknames, huh?”
Kai frowned and walked up to the porch, passing by me and unlocking his house.
“Sorry,” I sighed, following him into his house. “Will you please help me?”
“Hm, let me think about it,” he said, setting the grocery bags down. “No.”
I rolled my eyes. “C’mon! You barely thought about it. Why not?”
“Because I hate you,” he shrugged. “Why? What have I done to you?” I scoffed.
“Well, first of all you slammed a door in my face. Second, whenever we run into each other, you act like I murdered your whole family. And third, you denied my help before, but now you want it?  I think not,” he explained.
“Look, I’m sorry. I really, really am, but I know for a fact that you want to get out. I want to, too! But I’ve learned that we can’t get out without each other. I’m sorry I let my pride take over me. So please help me,” I begged and apologised.
Kai grinned at me. “I love this.” “Love what?” I asked.
“I love seeing you beg,” he said, his voice dropping low. He started to walk towards me slowly. Stalking me like I was his prey.
I backed away from him, my eyes trained on him. I let out a huff as my back hit a wall. My eyes widened and stared into his menacing eyes.
“I love seeing you beg for me. Begging for my help like the helpless little human you are,” he muttered.
He arms went around your sides, trapping in-between him and the wall. I breathed out heavily and shakily, averting my eyes.
“I’m not helpless,” I protested. He smirked down at him, his eyes lighting up. “You sure about that, princess?”
The way he stressed my pet name set my fire to my heart, and set my stomach flipping. He head hung low. So low that I could fell his breath on my lips. I felt his knee nudge my thigh and that’s when I stopped breathing. I could fell myself slowly melting into a puddle right in front of him.
“You gonna answer me, sweetheart, or are you just gonna stand there gawking at me?” He chuckled.
I swallowed hard. “N-No.”
“Then answer me,” he teased me. “Y-Yeah… I’m sure about that,” I whispered.
He hummed in reply. I let my eyes roam his face and set on his lips.
“Offer is still there,” he said. “What offer?” I asked.
“The offer to kiss me. Remember when I offered when we first met?”
“O-Oh, yeah,” I stuttered, beginning to catch my breath
“The offer’s still there if you wanna take it.” My eyes flickered back up to his. I shook my head furiously. “I-I don’t want to take it.”
“Oh, I think you do,” he grinned.
I then snapped out of my daze, putting my hand on shoulders and pushing back. “I said no.”
“Alright, alright,” he held his hand up in defense, backing further away from me.
“Now you’ve had your fun, will you help me?” I asked, running my fingers through my hair.
“I guess so,” he shrugged. My eyes lit up, “Really? Oh, my God! Yes!”
I jumped up and went to hug him, wrapping my arms around him. I engulfed him tightly, entangling my fingers in his hair. It was surprisingly soft.
“This feels nice,” Kai sighed.
I groaned, “Okay. Moment ruined.” I pulled away, stepping back a good few feet.
“You hugged me first,” he shrugged. “Yeah, yeah, whatever. Alright, so when do you want to get started?” I asked.
“After dinner,” he answered. “But it’s 2 pm,” I said.
“I know. But how about you and me have dinner together,” Kai explained.
“I thought you hated me?” I asked. “Oh, I do. I definitely do. That’s why I want to have dinner with you. I know just how to push your buttons. You’re so cute when mad,” he grinned.
I growled at him. “And you are so annoying.” “See! So cute,” Kai scrunched his nose.
“I bet it’ll be cute when I give you a black eye,” I muttered.
“It'd like to see you try. Anyways, if you want my help, then you’ll come to dinner with me,” Kai shrugged.
I sighed, “Fine. What time? What do I need to cook?”
“7 PM. And nope, I’ll cook.”
“O-Oh, really? You cook?”
“Yep,” he grinned proudly.
“Hm… Well, good to know. Anyways, I’ll be here at 7,” I said, making my way towards the door.
“Make sure to dress up! This is gonna be fancy!” Kai called out.
“Noted!” I exclaimed, stepping out of the house. I shut the door behind me, exhaling heavily. “Now you got a date with the town’s psycho, Y/n. Good going.”
I strutted over to the car, getting in and driving back to my place. I read a few books to pass the time until I had to get ready. I got done with Twilight: Eclipse, as I actually had already started that the other day, and I went ahead and started to read more into Bonnie’s grams’s grimoire.
It was all so fascinating, really. I was so amazed by just the spells themselves, I didn’t even consider the history of all of them. While reading the grimoire, I started to feel a little jealous of the fact that Bonnie’s a witch, and the fact that I’m a human with a ring that keeps me alive whenever I got killed. I almost started to feel jealous of Damon and Tyler, but I knew that I never would want to be a monster. Being a witch would seem nice, though. Not like Kai, though.
After a little heavy reading, I checked the clock. It was 5:49, which meant that I had to start getting ready. I put a bookmark in place in the grimoire and got up off the couch, heading up the stairs. I turned on the shower and got undressed.
I took off my sweatpants and socks, followed by my shirt. As I reached for my shirt overhead, the front of it brushed my nose. An unfamiliar, but calming scent  filled my nose. I slipped the rest of the shirt off, turning it back right side out and held it up to my nose. I closed my eyes and breathed the scent in. It smelled like mint, paper of old books, and a little like grape jam. As soon as the grape jam smell came to me, I immediately knew who this scent belonged to.
“Ew!” I shrieked and threw the shirt across the room. It landed in the laundry basket, luckily enough. I let out a gagging noise, taking off my underwear and getting in the shower quickly.
I took my time washing up. Taking a shower seemed to be the only place I could really let go and bask in the quiet and loneliness that was in this house. It was strange because it was always quiet and lonely in this house. This was my only time to truly relax since I was doing everything to keep my busy during the day, so I wouldn’t start crying and throwing a fit about still being here.
I lathered my body with shampoo, giving myself a little massage on my shoulders. I closed my eyes and started to imagine what life would be like if I wasn’t stuck in 1994.
I would be with my friends, obviously. We would be at Whitmore, trying to live a normal life. Caroline, Elena, Bonnie and I would be having a picnic on campus. Sipping iced teas and eating sometime of desert. Damon would probably be with us, considering that Elena can’t be without Damon for more than 10 minutes without dying - literally. Stefan would most definitely be there. He’s my best friend, so of course he would be there. He would be talking to Caroline, though, her hogging all of his attention because she likes him (though she always denied it). And maybe Jeremy would be there, too, for Bonnie. Holding her hand and cuddling up next to her like the cute couple they are. And me? Well, I didn’t really have anybody special in my life. I actually had a thing with Kol Mikaelson before he died. I liked Tyler briefly in high school, but I’m 100% sure he’s into the girl that works at the coffee shop at Whitmore. Matt wasn’t my type at all. Neither was Enzo. Maybe I had a cute boy a Whitmore on my arm. A classmate that I had invited to the picnic. Someone cute, smart, funny… a little crazy. Maybe… Maybe Kai.
My eyes snapped open as I became aware that Kai was now in my fantasy. I couldn’t help but shudder, even with the hot water running on my skin. I washed the rest of my body, focusing on anything else but Kai. I turned off the water, wrapping a towel around me. I dried my skin off as I walked to the sink, putting on lotion and re-brushing my teeth. I stepped back into my bedroom and put on a nude-coloured underwear set. It was simple and very, very comfortable. I then went over to my closet, looking for an outfit to wear. I shuffled through all my shirts, not being able to find one that I liked. I sighed in slight frustration, stepping back to try and see if anything stuck out to me.
A little, annoying voice - that sounded much like my mother’s - sounded in the back of my head.
Maybe you can’t decide on an outfit because you like him and want to look nice for him.
I scoffed loudly, shaking my head. “No. I definitely do not care. That’s why I’m just gong to wear this.” I reached into my closet and pulled out a simple dark-turquoise dress. It was spaghetti-strapped and plunged a little bit at the neckline. It reached down just above my knees. Perfect for dinner with an… associate.
I slipped it on and back to the bathroom and did my hair, putting it in one of my favourite hairstyles. I then got out some makeup products. I put on a light coat of foundation and concealer, curling my eyelashes and brushing them up with mascara. I then shaped my eyebrows and filled in the sparce parts, dusting on some blush and putting on chapstick. I looked in the mirror, stepping back to look at my appearance. I cringed as it looked like I was going on a date. I shook those thoughts out of my head. I wasn’t dressing up for him, I was dressing up for myself. There’s no shame in wanting to look nice for yourself.
I went back into the bedroom and found a pair of black heels. I slipped them on, going over to the dresser and putting on a few gold bracelets and a pair of earrings. I re-adjusted my necklace that I was already wearing. I looked at my reflection and smiled. For once, I felt and looked good. I grabbed a black jacket and walked out of my room, checking the time once again. I had 10 minutes to get his house, which was perfect.
I went out of the house and to the Chevy, driving to Kai’s house. I parked in the driveway, my heart beginning to race. I let out a few deep breaths and go out of the car. As soon as I was about to knock, the door swung wide open.
The door revealed Kai who was wearing a white button-up shirt and dark-blue slacks. He actually looked… nice, for once. My eyes traveled around his chest. I couldn’t help but notice the way his biceps strained against his shirt. I could literally see his abs through the shirt, too. It did not help butterflies that were starting to flutter in my stomach.
“Like what you see?” He smirked.
My eyes flew up to his face, taking a deep breath to calm myself down from all the excitement I was feeling.
“No,” I said flatly, going into the house and brushing past Kai.
“Well, you look nice,” he said as I walked into his kitchen.
“Thanks. You do, too,” I complimented genuinely.
“I’ve never seen you in a dress before. You should wear them more often.”
“I don’t like dresses.”
“But you like me. That’s why you wore one to our date?”
I balled my hands in fists, turning around to face him. “One, this is not a date. And two, girls can wear dresses for themselves, not for men like you.”
Kai grinned widely at me. I realised I had fallen into his trap. He was trying to push my buttons and so far, he's been successful. I couldn't let him win, though. I had to calm down and get through this night. Otherwise I would probably never be getting out.
“Your temper is almost as bad as Damon’s,” Kai remarked.
I sighed, “Well you’re not making it easy to stay calm.”
“I know,” he chuckled, walking past me and to the dinner table. “I hope you like ravioli and mushrooms.”
“Did you make these or buy them?” I asked, walking towards the kitchen table.
“Made them. The Salvatores have lots of cook books. I might have stole them before you came,” he explained.
"Well, it smells great,” I admitted, beginning to take off my jacket.
“Glad you think so. Here, let me get this for you,” he slid over to me and took the jacket off my shoulders. He folded it and put it on the ledge of his couch.
“Thanks,” I said. He then pulled my chair out for me. I sat down, thanking him this time with a smile.
“Wine?” He asked, bringing a bottle over. “Yeah, sure,” I nodded.
He poured two glasses and placed one in front of me. He sat down and took a knife and fork.
“Dig in,” he offered. “This isn’t filled with like, cyanide, right?” I asked half-jokingly.
“Ha-ha. No. I worked really hard on these,” he said.
“Hm,” I hummed. I cut one of the raviolis in half and popped on in my mouth. My eyes widened as it tasted a lot better than I expected.
“Good, right?” Kai smiled.
“Very,” I nodded once I swallowed.
We ate in silence for a few moments. I was itching to talk to him about getting home. I took a long sip of wine before beginning to take.
“So um…. I’ve started to re-build the ascendent. It’s a lot harder than it looks, but I’m really close. I just have-”
“No,” Kai said suddenly. I furrowed my brows, “What?” “No, we aren’t going to talk about that just yet. I want to get to know you,” he explained.
I rolled my eyes. “Why? All you need to know is my name and that I hate living here.”
He chuckled, “Not true. I have trust issues. So before I get involved with you, I need to know I can trust you. See, I didn’t trust Damon or Bonnie. I knew that they hated me from the second they met me. I knew that no matter what I would do, they would never give in to trusting me. You, however, you are so trusting. Didn’t you find it creepy that I, a strange man whom you met in a parking lot, offered you a ride?”
“Oh. I-I mean, I guess? But I needed a ride, anyways,” I said.
He shook his head with a smile. “No. Not a good enough reason. Any reasonable woman would have run away from me. You, though… You saw something good in me, didn’t you? You thought I was nice and cute. Maybe a little too forthcoming, but still you put some trust in me. And if you can trust me, maybe I can learn to trust you.”
“Is that why you didn’t let me go with them?” I asked, suddenly connecting the dots.
“Part of the reason. I knew that I had no chance of getting home with Damon and Bonnie. But with you, I knew that I had a chance. Even though you are just a human.” “I am more than that,” I argued.
“And I’m sure you are! But you see, I don’t know that for sure because I don’t know anything about you. See what I’m getting at here?” “Yeah, I see,” I grumbled. “Great! So let’s start with the first question. Why do you always wear that necklace?” He pointed to my neck.
“It was a gift,” I explained shortly, hoping he would notice the edge in my voice.
“From who?” He asked, the corners of his lips upturning in a smirk.
Of course he noticed. He just wasn’t going to stop.
“Family member.” “C’mon, you gotta give me more. I can’t help you if I don't trust you.” I slammed my fork down on the table. “So? There’s a lot of people in the world that you don’t trust fully, but sometimes you just have to help them! Like in school, you may not trust one of your classmates personally, but if they ask you for help on a math problem, you would help them, right? And plus, I don’t trust you. I never did, for the record. I just really want to get out of this place, which now I am believing is my personal hell, not your’s, but I can’t do that without you!”
Kai took a bite of his ravioli, taking his sweet time to chew and swallow. I clenched my knife, tempted to throw it into his carotid.
“Watch your temper, princess. If you keep yelling at me, then I definitely won’t help you.” I closed my eyes and breathed in slowly, trying to calm myself down. “Fine. Sorry. I just don’t want to answer the questions about my necklace.”
“Oh, I know. That’s why I’m asking,” he grinned.
I rolled my eyes, settling back in my seat. “Please, don’t. It’s really personal.”
“You know, I killed my family. It can’t get any worse than that,” he shrugged.
“Yeah, well, this is worse to me,” I muttered. “What? Did you kill your whole family, too? Man, I didn’t know we were so similar,” he chuckled.
“No. They got murdered right in front of me,” I whispered out. Tears prickled the corners of my eyes. I lowered my gaze to my almost-empty plate. Thick, uncomfortable silence filled the room. I tried to fight the tears that threatened to fall, but as memories came back, I could no longer hold them off.
“I-I’m gonna go. Thanks for dinner, Kai.” My voice was hoarse as I spoke. I swallowed hardly, trying to clear my throat, but it felt like shards of glass were rubbing the sides of it.
I went to grab my jacket and wrapped it around me, reaching out for the doorknob, but Kai pulled me back. He wrapped his fingers around my wrist gently, but firmly. He tugged me back slightly, enough for me to turn around and look him in the eyes. The expression on his face was something that I had never seen on him before. He looked regretful, guilty; full of remorse. For once I didn’t feel annoyed or scared of him.
“I’m sorry that happened to you,” he spoke softly, his blue eyes boring into my e/c eyes.
“I-It’s alright. It’s not your fault,” I sniffled. “No… I-I should have known this was too personal for you to want to share,” he admitted.
“Yeah, well, I know how much you like to push my buttons,” I chuckled.
“I do. I admit that. But I really do want to get to know you.” I narrowed eyes at him, crossing my arms around my chest and leaning back in my chair. “Why?”
“Because I… I think you’re interesting. When I was watching you and your friends, I was able to discover things. Things about Bonnie and Damon. But you… I couldn’t figure out a thing about you. You talk a lot to Damon, and I know you’re really close with Bonnie, but you’re still so private. I’m such an open person, so it was weird for me to see you be so closed-off, but outgoing at the same time,” he explained, his cheeks glowing pink as soon as he finished.
I couldn’t believe what I had heard him say. He was finally saying nice things about me in a sincere tone. I couldn’t help but smile and softened up. “Really?”
“Yeah,” He shrugged sheepishly. “Hm,” I buzzed.
“So, will you stay and we can get to know each other? I promise I won’t ask you about your family anymore,” he said.
I stared at him intensely. As much as I wanted to say no, every fiber in my body was screaming yes.
“Alright, sure. I’ll stay,” I nodded. I knew that if I said no, he probably wouldn't help me get back home, but I was actually looking forward to staying. It seemed as though my feelings for him were developing a lot quicker and stronger than I thought they ever would.
A bright smile lit up his face immediately. “Great! Do you want to continue eating? I have some ice cream, too, if you want.”
“Ice cream sounds good,” I answered. He nodded and let go of my wrist, walking to his freezer.
I felt alone and cold all of the sudden. I felt myself start to miss his hand on me, holding my arm. His skin was so warm and surprisingly soft. I wanted him to touch me all over.
“Take a seat on the couch.” His voice broke me out of my dirty thoughts.
I shrugged away the thoughts and made my way to the sofa, taking a seat and making myself comfortable.
“Do you want a blanket of anything?” He asked, setting down two bowls.
“I’m good for now, thanks,” I said, reaching her to grab a bowl. “F/f?” I asked.
“Yeah. This one of the few things I found out about you,” he smiled sheepishly, taking his bowl and sitting down next to you.
“Indeed I do. I assume you do, too?” I guessed. “Yep,” he nodded.  “Hm. So, what do you want to know about me?” I asked.
“What’s your favourite colour?”
“F/c.” “Do you have any pets back at home?” He asked.
“I had a cat a few years ago. She died, though.” “Oh, I’m sorry,” he frowned. “It's alright. She was 20, so she was bound to die soon,” I shrugged.
He nodded. “What’s life like back at home?”
I took a bite of ice cream, thinking for a few moments. “Fun. Busy, but really happy and colourful.”
“Are you in college?” He asked. “Yeah. Second year,” I answered.  “What’re you studying?”
“I’m majoring in human studies and minoring in art and design.” “Sounds fun.”
“It is. And a little stressful,” I chuckled. He laughed with me, looking away from me for a moment and then looking back.
“Do you have a boyfriend, or girlfriend, back at home?” He asked.
“Nope. I’ve been single for a good couple years,” I said.
“You? Single? I find that hard to believe,” he snorted. “Why?” I asked, my heart fluttering just thinking about his answer.
Kai smiled softly at me. “Well, for starters, you’re beautiful. You’re strong and confident. You know what you want and have no issue in fighting for it. You’re a little hot-headed, but I find it attractive. You’re very smart; I see you reading almost everyday. You’re determined and dream big. I can tell you really care about your friends and family, despite how much you and Damon bickered. You’re like a girl in a novel or movie that other girls want to be.”
My whole face went warm at his explanation. My lips were upturned into the most cheek-aching smile, too.
“And you said it was hard to find things out about me,” I giggled, nudging his foot with mine.
“Well, I couldn’t find out personal things about you. That's all just from observation,” he shrugged, not seeming to be embarrassed.
I nodded, “Well, now you know a few personal things about me.”
“That I do.” “I…. I thought you liked Bonnie, too,” I spoke my thoughts out loud.
“She’s beautiful, too. She’s also incredibly smart and intuitive. She’s very strong and nice. But you’re the one that really caught my eye.”
“Oh,” I smiled impossibly wider. “Well, good to know.” “Yep,” he popped the ‘p’. I couldn't help but notice how his gaze dropped down to my upper chest, where my necklace sat.
“They died one and a half years ago,” I started.
His eyes flew up to mine. “You don’t have to-”
“No, no. It’s alright. Um… so it was at night. Everyone else was at the house, but I had snuck out to go to a party hosted by Caroline. At this time, I was involved with a vampire named Kol. He convinced me to go out. I knew it was wrong and I was going to get in trouble. I was what some would call a goody-two shoes. Anyways, I stayed out until like, 2 in the morning. I was getting tipsy and tired. So, Stefan, Damon’s brother, drove me home. When I first arrived at my house, it looked completely normal. It was quiet and peaceful. It wasn’t until I walked into my house when I knew something was wrong. There were lights on upstairs. It felt so tense, too. I could literally feel how tense and thick the air was.” I stared down at my ice cream for multiple minutes, blinking rapidly as tears fell.
“I went upstairs and that’s when I saw him. He was tall and wearing a ski-mask, like he was trying to rob us. I guess he had other things he wanted to do, too. He didn’t see me at first, though. It wasn’t until he shot my dad when I started to cry and that’s when he noticed me. I ran away though and into my sibling’s room. I saw that they were still were asleep and safe. So I did the first thing I thought was sensible. I called Stefan. I explained to him that someone had murdered my dad. And as I called him, I heard my mom scream,” I shuddered as her scream ringed in my ears.
“That’s when I heard the door being kicked open downstairs and I knew that Stefan was there. He had brought Caroline and Damon, too, with Bonnie. They were all here to help and I was so appreciative of them. I thought they were going to kill the guy, which was honestly what I wanted. But apparently, the murderer was a vampire. An old one, too, which meant he was stronger than everyone. My friends put up a good fight and I tried to get Andrew and Jenny out of the house, but as soon as we were going down the stairs, the murderer sped up to us and snapped both of their necks. I-It all happened so fast. I….I just couldn't register what was happening. They both just fell limp in my arms. I didn’t know what to do but cry. I was practically screaming while crying, cursing at the murderer. I tried to fight him, but I was so tired and weak, he almost ended up killing me, but luckily Stefan got to him the fastest and ripped his heart out. He fell right on top of me, too. I will never forgetting the weight I was feeling just then. Metaphorical and physical. I pushed him off of me and collapsed into Stefan’s arms. He held me for what seemed like forever until I stopped crying.”
I felt Kai move closer to me, putting a comforting hand on my hand. I smiled softly at him, letting out a deep breath as I was about to finish the story.
“I didn’t come to school for four months after that. I didn’t even come out of my room during that time. My friends took turns everyday taking care of me. Stefan was on cooking duty, Caroline, Elena, and Bonnie switched roles of helping me bathe, getting me to eat, trying to get me to take a step out of bed. Damon and Jeremy provided the jokes and funny stories to try and get me to feel better. Alaric, who was acting like Elena and Jeremy’s parent, adopted me into their family. He said it was Elena and Jeremy’s idea and he agreed fully. After my grieving period, I moved in with the Gilberts. Elena and Jeremy called me their sister and I fell into that role. It was nice to have a family again. It was nice to have siblings again. To have a parent again. I knew it wasn’t real, though. Jeremy and Elena acted like it was real, though. They were so welcoming of having me as a sister, it was just so good. Once I went to college, though, I tried to get a little more independent. Bonnie was gone, actually, so all I had was Caroline and Elena. But we made it work. I’m so thankful for all of them. They really helped me and never gave up on me. Even when I threw fits about getting out of bed,” I smiled at the memories of them helping me.
“Anyways,” I shifted on the couch. “The summer before college, I ended up cremating my family and spreading them across the Pacific Ocean, thanks to Damon who gladly took me on a trip.”
“Wow,” Kai breathed out. “I know,” I chuckled.
“You have really great friends. I’m sorry that all happened to you,” he said. “I-I can’t imagine what you went through. And what you’re still going through.” “Yeah, well, I’m the survivor here. You’re an actual murderer,” I smirked.
He laughed, “True. You know, if you know that I’m a murderer, then why do you agree to spend time with me?”
I sighed and set the empty bowl of ice cream on the table. “Well, you’re right. I am trusting. I see the good in people and I see the good in you. When I was about to walk out the door, I saw the good in you. I see the good in you now. You can be good, Kai. I know it’s hard considering what you have been through, but you are just as much as a survivor as I am.” I intertwined our fingers and put my other hand on his forearm.
“You were abused as a child. You were punished for being different. And although that doesn’t excuse you killing your siblings, you still deserve love. I don’t know how being in a coven works, but I do know how being in a family works. You’re supposed to love each other and your father didn’t give you that love. Sure, you’re a little… eccentric at times, but you still have feelings like everyone else. I know Damon and Bonnie called you a sociopath, and I know I did, too, but now that I’ve seen this side of you, I know you’re different. You should be able to resent your father for being blamed for being a siphoner. Which, by the way, I think it really cool, honestly. I-I’m sorry for yelling at you and getting really mad all those times,” I apologised, looking at him in the eyes to know I was sincere.
He shrugged with a smile, “Well I didn’t make it easy on you.”
I laughed, “No, you did not. Anyways… You are a survivor Kai. A survivor of your family and this world. You deserve a lot more than you think.”
“Thank you. I guess that’s true,” he said.
I smiled and leaned into him, “I know it’s true.”
He smiled at me, his hand tightening around mine. My eyes trailed down to his lips, ogling them for a good few moments.
“Does the necklace has pictures of them?” Kai asked.
I leaned away immediately, my hand slipping out of his. “Yeah, do you want to see them?”
He nodded, moving closer to me so our thighs were touching. I took off the necklace, opening it up and showing him the left side where my parent’s picture sat.
“That’s my dad, Owen, and that’s my mom, Louisa,” I pointed.
“You look just like your mom,” Kai muttered.
I looked to my right, seeing that he was staring right at me. I blushed a little, looking down shyly. “Yeah. We got our genes from our mom.”
“Are they Andrew and Jenny?” He pointed to the right side of the locket.
“Yep. Andrew is 10 and Jenny is 13,” I said.
“They look like good kids,” he commented. “They were. I often wish that it was me who died instead of them,” I murmured.
“Why?”
“Because I was the one who snuck out that night. Plus, my mom and I were having some relationship issues. She was always so irritated with me and criticizing everything I did. The last thing I said to her that night was “I hate you. I wish I had a different mom.”,” My lips were pulled down in a deep frown.
“Well, you didn’t mean that, right?” Kai guessed.
“I didn’t,” I shook my head. “Well, that’s all that matters,” he said.
I nodded and looked up at him.
“You have a little… Here,” he said and lifted up his hand. He cupped my cheek, his thumb running across my cheekbone, wiping a few tears away.
My breath hitched as I felt myself leaning towards him. There was like this magnetic pull that I was feeling. I knew I couldn’t fight it if I tried. His eyes met mine, staring intensely at me. My eyes flickered down to his lips. They looked so soft. So pink. So unbelievably kissable. I was about to close the space in-between us when Kai stopped me.
He put his hand on my shoulder, pushing me back.
“What? Did I read the situation wrong? I’m so sorry,” I rushed out, getting up from the couch.
Kai’s hand grabbed my forearm roughly, pulling me back down on the couch.
“No, it’s not that. You read the situation totally right it's just that… I’ve never kissed anyone before,” he admitted, looking down shyly.
I smiled softly, reaching my hand out for his. “It’s alright. We don’t have to do anything. It’s late, anyways. I should get going.” I looked at the clock, noticing that it was 9:30.
“Or you can stay and we can watch a movie?” He suggested. “Sure,” I nodded with a smile. “Can I take my shoes off?” “Yeah, of course. Actually um, do you want a change of clothes?” He asked.
“Yeah, if you don’t mind,” I nodded.
“Sweatpants and t-shirt work for you?” He asked.
“It definitely does,” I said. “Great. I’ll be right back, go ahead and make yourself comfortable,” he said, getting up from the couch.
I smiled and nodded, taking my shoes and jacket off. I leaned back on the couch, sighing. I could not believe I was making nice with someone who tried to kill me. Damon was right. My type is crazy.

MK-S: Small excerpts from Candeloro’s journal (dated as January 1, but not necessarily the actual date; as a role play journal, she takes some creative liberties; if she stops for a break, changing days as a way to mark different writing sessions, etc.):
Jan 1st: …And so I already find myself making camp, barely more than a small jog from the entrance to this realm; the multitude of passages available exceed my wildest expectations. If I do not begin my map making now, then I will surely leave several of these passages unmarked in future endeavors; I cannot allow this fresh perspective and attentiveness to be muddled by time and familiarity…
Jan 27: Today I engaged with yet another servant of the Rat Lord. Truly, he must be the cruelest of tyrants, for his minion was surely no more than a mere babe. (Note to self, google if baby rats wander into homes, or if it’s a sign of nesting; really hoping it’s the former.) All the same, the beast fell by my blade. My honor dictated that give I give my foes, however vile, a proper burial, least their remains rot and let their evil bleed over into my own realm. (Reminder: start bringing plastic bags so I don’t need to drag these things all the way back to the entrance every time I kill one and the moment I do so; I don’t want these things to start stinking up the house, but I’d rather have to drag multiple bags back, than have to stop everything each time.) And so, I grabbed my fallen foe, and began my return to my beloved home realm (Need a name for this. ‘House of Seckendorff’? Sounds good, but the ‘House’ part’s a bit too on the nose, and realms are inside and out…did I call them realms or spaces? Check later.) dragging my foe (oops repeated with pen) so that he may receive a proper burial, with the rites of his people (a quick goodbye in the dumpster outside)…
Feb 3rd: …I…I cannot begin to describe the thing I saw today, but it is my duty to do my best, to document all aspects of this strange land.
One of the rat lord’s minions descended upon me from above, a tactic they had never done before (scared the heck out of me, looking up to see an eye looking back. And since when can these things climb on next to nothing?!?) and one that caused me to drop my trusty blade in shock. This foul beast of gargantuan size (seriously, as big as me; I’m tiny, but that’s got to be big for a rat…Todo: google wild rat sizes after family dinner) lunged at me.
I was backed into a corner, and the beast moved ever closer, fangs bared, intent to rip me to pieces (or make me shoot a small hole in the wall, but still something I’d rather not have to fix). But then…something I could not tell be blessing or curse came out of the darkness. At first I thought it the Rat Lord himself, for surly this titan among rodents must be king of his kind. But this greater beast waited not but a moment before biting down on the neck of my assailant, killing the ambusher in nary the time it took (to find a word to go here) for me to release my baited breath.
The titan, though seemingly made of the night itself, I believe I saw impossible traces of reds and blues, took the fallen rat and left retreated (sounds much better) back into the dark. I myself fled back to camp, so I may document this strange event, least I potential find some more mundane, albeit tragic, end. (Note to self: ask Nagisa if she’s always had such big small familiars, and add more cheese to the shopping list.)…
Alright, that concludes these excerpts written as though by Candeloro. Hope they were fun to read! (I thought it be fun to have things like Candeloro making small notes in the margins, where she breaks character to write reminders, or having this double as a diary of thoughts while she’s hunting rats. Also a few jokes related to how she’s writing this down and, like many of us, may get stuck trying to catch that word on the tip of her tongue.)
That is soooooo cool omg,,

Hello. :) Lila is mistakenly identified as the person who committed a detention/suspension worthy offense. Her lies are revealed during the investigation. Marinette is the only person who believes Lila is innocent. Whether Lila is proven innocent is up to you. Redemption optional.
Where’s your evidence?
What are Lila’s current crimes?
Theft, truancy, lying, bullying
But now... blowing up the science lab?
Miss Mendeliev warned the class to be serious and pay attention to detail since they were experimenting with volatile chemicles.
She confiscated Rose’s perfume and pretty much all cell phones.
Lila even bragged about having done harder experiments. This blew up in her face quite literally. Everyone knew the explosion came from her desk.
Tumblr media
Cameras proved it as well. It didn’t help Lila’s case that she was more focused on whispering stories than listening to Mendeliev.
Lila protested she did exactly what the instructions said. Do you think she would have wanted her looks to be ruined by an explosion? (Mostly everyone escaped unharmed but Lila’s face had minor burns and her hair was singed)
No matter. Lila will be suspended and her mother will have to pay for the damage to the lab.
Mrs Rossi was called over and told of the incident. She tried to appeal for a lighter punishment. Honestly, with the school being shut down for months, (online classes notwithstanding) is it really a good idea for Lila to miss more school?
Damocles: shut down?
Lila’s brain: oh crud
Bustier: what are you talking about? The school has never been shut down for more than a day. Ladybug and Chat Noir defeat the akuma within the hour. 2 at most.
Mrs Rossi: that’s not what Lila told me. It’s why she’s been at home for months now, with all these akumas around your school
Damocles: I do not deny Dupont is an akuma hotspot, but we have not been shut down for months!
Bustier: in fact, Lila told us the reason for her absence was because you were taking her to Achu on another diplomatic mission
Mrs Rossi turns to stare at her shrinking daughter. “I have never even been to Achu. Lila, have you been playing truant for months? Why?”
Knowing blaming Ladybug will get her nowhere, Lila claims to be afraid of being akumatized again after her Volpina incident. Or around akumas.
Mrs Rossi: that’s no reason to lie to me! I could have just tranferred you to a different school!
Bustier: out of curiosity, does Lila have tinnitus? Or even knows Jagged Stone?
Mrs Rossi: what does that have to with anything?
Bustier: Lila has been claiming numerous ailments in her efforts to help charities and from hanging out with her celebrity friends
Mrs Rossi: well, while I know Lila has mentioned being part of charity events, I can assure you she is perfectly healthy and all her friends, except her boyfriend Adrien, are not famous.
Bustier: Adrien is still single and is most assuredly not dating Lila.
Damocles: perhaps it’s her lying disease acting up. The one that makes her lie uncontrollably
Mrs Rossi: ...that’s called compulsive lying, you egghead!
Damocles: but...wouldn’t that mean she was lying about Miss Dupain-Cheng?
Bustier: I’m afraid so.
Damocles: I’m going to have to apologize to her again, aren’t I?
Both women: obviously
Needless to say Lila is expelled instead of suspended, though Mr Damocles decides to conduct a proper investigation before making it official
Lila is forced to confess in front of the whole class.
Kim: so the explosion was probably some attempt to make us feel sorry for you!
Lila: are you kidding me? If I wanted to make you feel sorry for me, I wouldn’t actually hurt myself to do it! I am telling you for the last time, I followed those lab instructions and no, I did not misread the chemical labels.
Alix: probably too busy bragging to bother checking
Marinette: i cannot believe i am saying this, but I think Lila is innocent about the lab explosion
No one misses the irony of the situation. After Lila herself framed Marinette, and the latter kept on calling her a liar, now Marinette is the only one defending Lila and insisting the latter was framed.
Alya: girl, I know you like to forgive bullies and all, but this is a bit much
Marinette: i haven’t forgiven Lila. I’m just being logical. Vain as she is, do you honestly think Lila would risk injuring her appearance? She favours fake injuries not real ones. Even if she can’t stop talking about herself, she knows when to pay attention.
Mendeliev: be that as it may, the proof is in the footage. Lila used the wrong chemicals and now the lab still smells of smoke
Marinette: maybe the labels were mixed up?
Pause. Ok, that could be true, except...
Mendeliev: impossible. It wasn’t only me who checked the lab preparations. It was double checked by lab assistants and triple checked by Caline.
Caline nodded. “It’s true. Everything had been labelled correctly. I am sorry but Lila has to take responsibility for her carelessness.”
Lila: oh for crying out loud, if I lie and said something glamorous, would you believe I am innocent then?
Lila was taken away. It would take time for her mother to find a new school that would accept such a troublesome student, but in the meantime, Lila would need to find a job. Her allowance has been cut off and the damage costs were paid out of her own funds.
Marinette talked to Tikki about this. The former still believed Lila was innocent. Tikki herself decides to give Lila the benefit of the doubt, but the evidence is hard to deny.
Marinette: we could see Lila reading the instructions and labels in the footage. I wonder what’s really going on.
That night, as Marinette slept, Tikki confronted Plagg.
Plagg: so I switched some labels. It’s not like anybody saw me.
Tikki: that was really dangerous
Plagg: please. You’re talking to the kwami of destruction. Like I don’t know how to mix chemicals. Pfft.
Tikki: but why now? After all the horrible things Lila has done, why now?
Plagg: after a couple of joint photo shoots, she complained that Adrien stinks of my cheese to his dad, and now I’m stuck with plastic-wrapped cheese sticks.
Tikki sighs. Of course.
Plagg: besides, think of the good it did. Liar girl is exposed and out of our lives. (True. Lila has decided to move on from Dupont)
Tikki: I still feel sorry for her mother having to pay for the damage you caused
Plagg: think of it as the cost for not properly raising her daughter.
Tikki: you could have caused an akuma.
Plagg: but i didn’t.
Tikki: actually why didn’t we see any butterflies? There should have been enough negative emotion for Hawkmoth to send one.
Plagg: gee, maybe because the riot across the city was angrier than a school issue? (Lately the akumas came from them)
Tikki: oh yeah.

The video of Y/N and Tom singing ‘SOS’ broke the internet. It was trending for at least four days. The whole internet, already on the witch hunt to find evidence of a relationship, was being fed. The paparazzi were circling around like vultures. The threat of being outed made them hide in their caves.
Haz was coming to London in two days. Y/N was trying to rid the house of anything and everything that hinted that Tom had been staying with her. Between the paps, shooting, and Haz, she couldn’t find time to meet Tom and give him his things.
There were Polaroids scattered all over the house. While she was packing a box to parcel to Tom, she found a Polaroid on her glass coffee table next to her ‘vanilla sage’ candle from Bath and Body Works. In the photo, Y/N was lying on her stomach on the hardwood floor in her living room, a gin and tonic next to her. Tom was sitting on the floor with his right arm extended to take the photo. They were both smiling.
She remembered when he took that photo. It was the same day she found a vintage vinyl of Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong’s ‘on verve’, during her exploration of Camden market. They decided to have a listening party of that album on the floor. Tom found his new favourite song that day, ‘let’s call the whole thing off’. She smiled at the memory. Instead of putting it in the box, she went into her room to put it in her wallet where only she could find it.
Y/N noticed her phone vibrating next to her purse. It was Harrison.
“Bonjour mon amour”,
“Hi Haz, did you board the flight?”
“Just did; listen you don’t have to pick me up from the airport, I know you are busy at work”
“Fine. Text me when you land”
“Su-“, she hung up the phone.
I can’t believe I have to live with this man for a whole week.
Haz came in late at night, even though his flight was supposed to land at 5pm. Y/N was already sleeping. When she woke up around 8 next morning, she found, much to her surprise, Haz snoring next to her. Last night she made sure that there was a pillow and a blanket on the couch for him, a subtle way of saying ‘I don’t want you sleeping in the same bed with me’. Also because she thought he knew about the affair and wouldn’t want to sleep next to her.
God, I wish I had another bedroom
Y/N was sitting on the bar stool with her laptop on the kitchen island, going through her mail while drinking coffee. Haz had just woken up from his deep slumber, and found his way to the kitchen to fetch him some coffee.
“Good morning!” she said enthusiastically, without looking up from her laptop screen. She had thought it was a sleepy Tom, coming out of the bedroom to make himself tea.
“Morning”, Haz said as a reflex, rubbing his eyes. Y/N’s smile disappeared upon hearing the sound of his voice.
“Did you make breakfast?” Haz asked while pouring himself coffee into a mug Tom had gifted Y/N.
“I made myself breakfast when I woke up, three hours ago. Was I supposed to make breakfast for you too?” It was a rhetorical question. Y/N noticed the mug, it made her uneasy watching a man she doesn’t love drinking from a gift given by the man she did love.
“There’s eggs and bread in the fridge, help yourself”, she pointed at the refrigerator.
As Haz cracked open an egg on the pan, Y/N received an email from Greta.
“Good news, Netflix bought the distribution rights to Greta’s movie, she just sent me a mail”
“Oh”
Oh? Seriously, oh?
“They are planning the premier for this Friday, do you want to go with me?”
“I don’t think so, I don’t really like the people you work with” he was putting butter on cold bread.
There is nothing more tragic than love turning into hate. Tragedy had struck their marriage. The rest of the week, they only spoke when they absolutely had to. It was like living with a roommate, you share a bed with but cannot share your day with.
--
It was Friday, the day of the movie premiere. Y/N was excited to see Tom after a week without him, which felt like an eternity to her. She was wearing a silver colored floor length gown with heavily studded earrings. Her hair was up in a bun with two strands out, to shape her face.
Since it was Netflix, the event could afford to take place at the Royal Albert Hall. Y/N had only been there once, for an Arctic Monkeys concert. When she stepped out of the car, she was met by blinding lights of the cameras. She walked over to the whole cast on the red carpet. The only thing she could hear was the deafening noise of photographers screaming to look towards them and in between, tabloid journalists asking her questions about her life and rumours.
Y/N was still pretty new to walking red carpets because she had mostly worked on indie films that couldn’t afford a grand premiere as most of the money would go towards entering different festivals. Y/N was wearing a mask of pure joy on her face but Tom could see right through it. He could see how uncomfortable Y/N was feeling.
He walked towards her, “you look gorgeous darling” he whispered in her ears and for a second that mask she was wearing became real. They both posed together, but regretted it immediately. The whole media went on overdrive, seeing them together.
“Are you guys seeing each other?” a person from the left screamed.
“Y/N, did you leave Harrison?” someone from the right asked
The voices were coming from everywhere. All they could do now was walk off the carpet. Tom had arranged for Y/N to sit next to her during the screening. His hand was linked with Y/N’s the whole time. He could feel her shivering.
“Are you cold?” he asked her.
“Not really”, she took a long pause. “I am just nervous about my performance in the movie and I guess the questions really got to my head, it’s all making me very anxious”
“Don’t worry babe, everyone is going to love you in the movie, and those hunters out there are shell of a person, all they care about are these bullshit rumours. They don’t deserve a house in your thoughts”
“Shhhhhh” someone whispered from the row above theirs.
Y/N’s phone was vibrating, it was Harrison’s fourth call in fifteen minutes.
Why is he not getting the hint that I don’t want to talk to him
She ignored it.
A few minutes later, her phone rang again.
What if it’s serious?
She got up and went outside of the theatre to take the call.
“What is it, Haz? You know I’m busy right now”
“Umm, are you Y/N?” A man with a heavy, older voice said.
“Yes?” She was confused. “Who is this and how do you have my husband’s phone?”
“Your husband is trashed, ma’am. He passed out on my bar counter about half an hour ago. Your number was on his emergency contact list so I'm calling you to pick him up”
“I’ll be right there, can you tell me the address?”
“Yeah sure it’s 141 Albert Street, Spread Eagle”
Tom came out of the theatre.
“Is everything okay, Y/N?”
“I have to go pick up Haz, he’s splashed out on a bottle somewhere, bloody fool can’t even walk”, she said whilst texting her driver to pick her up.
“Do you want me to go with you?”
“No, I need to deal with this alone”
She walked out the back gate and got in a black Audi.
The paparazzi had noticed her early departure, so they started following her recklessly.
It was a corner pub, the bar was at full capacity. Y/N saw Haz with his head down on the counter, an almost empty tequila bottle next to him.
“Haz wake up, come on, we need to go, get up darling” Y/N was trying to shake him awake.
“O-oh Y/N, y-you’re he-ear”, he was slurring his words.
“Yeah now let’s go”
He started to get up, Y/N had her one hand on his back and the other on his forearm, to support him.
“Honey I th-think I’m going to puke”, he looked sick.
“Is there a restroom here?” She asked the bartender. He pointed towards the corner of the room, a dimly lit area.
“Thank you”. She helped Harrison to walk to the restroom.
The washroom felt like their marriage. They were cramped up in it. The whole room was pure white but also yellow, caused by the lack of cleaning. There were no windows and had only one white florescent light. It was suffocating. The room made her realise that she could not hide from the inevitable, anymore.
Has was on his knees, holding on to the toilet seat with his dear life, puking all the poison out. Y/N was standing near the sink, taking off her statement earrings. She could see a vulnerable Harrison in the reflection of the mirror.
“I want a divorce”, she whispered, loud enough to be heard in this stifle room.

He was digging, continuous digging. The tunnel was dark and claustrophobic. The 179 Tunneling Company were always stuck in the dark, never knowing who they were fighting. Tommy continued to dig. He was stationed at the front. He was always in the front leading the men to place the mines under enemy lines. Soon, Tommy heard a loud commotion behind him. He turned around but could not see anything. It was still too dark. Tommy dropped his shovel and put his hand out to feel for another tunneller or if the person had epaulets. If they had epaulets on the shoulder, then it meant Germans had infiltrated the 179th’s tunnel. Tommy continued to hear fighting amongst men. Some were screaming out in pain, but as Tommy moved throughout the tunnel, he never found anyone. The screams and digging sounds began to consume Tommy, that he fell to his knees, trying to block out the noise. Tommy felt himself starting to hyperventilate as he could not breathe in the confined space.
“Tommy,” spoke a muffled voice. He looked around to see where the voice was coming from inside the tunnel.
“Tommy,” the voice spoke up again. Tommy was able to distinguish the voice belonged to a female. “Over here,” the voice instructed.
“Who are you?” Tommy asked, but with no answer.
“Come find me, Tommy. Follow my voice.”
Tommy did not know why he was following an unknown voice. For all he knew, it could be a trap set up by the Germans for capture.
Making his way through the dark tunnel, Tommy was able to make out a lighted area. As it got lighter, Tommy could see that no men around. However, a woman was standing alone.
“Who are you?” Tommy asked again, reaching out to touch the woman. He wanted to see her face.
When the woman turned around, Tommy was taken aback. It was you.
Tommy breathed out your name. “What are you doing here? You have to leave, or you will get hurt. You are not supposed to be here,” rambled Tommy.
You smiled at Tommy and walked closer to him to touch his cheek. Tommy leaned into your touch. “I’m here to bring you home, Tommy. You don’t belong down in the dark. Dark tunnels, Battle of the Somme, this isn’t your life anymore. The war is over.”
Tommy shook his head in disbelief. “No. I will always be at war. I’ll never have peace,” he told you.
Tommy grabbed your hands and held them close to his chest. He needed a lifeline, and, at that moment, you were it. Tears began to sting out the corners of Tommy’s eyes.
You cupped Tommy’s face in your hands to look into his beautiful blue eyes. Leaning in, you placed a tender kiss on his forehead.
“Thomas, you have to wake up, now,” you told him. You leaned in again and kissed him on the lips.
Before Tommy could reciprocate, he woke up.
Tommy bolted upright on his bed. He looked around to see he was in his room. He was in Small Heath, not France. Sitting up, Tommy positioned himself against the headboard and took deep breaths to help control his breathing. He looked at his undershirt to see it drenched in sweat.
“Fucking ‘ell,” he said out loud. Looking at his timepiece, it read three o’clock in the morning. There was no way Tommy was going to get back to sleep now. Getting off the bed, Tommy located and laced his shoes. He put on his coat and hat, then headed out of the house. He needed some fresh air, which was not easy to come by in the smog-filled place of Small Heath.
Not many people were out, which to Tommy was pleasant. The less disturbance, the better. Tommy did not know where he was going but allowed his legs to lead the way. It was not long until Tommy reached the Cut. He looked down at the dark water and began thinking about his mother. It was a dark day for the Shelby siblings when they received the devastating news of their mother drowning in the Cut. Nothing was ever the same from then on out, especially when their father up and left.
Tommy, without hesitation, stepped up as the head of the family. None of the other siblings fought him on it as they trusted Tommy to look after them. That is why Tommy pushed so hard to provide for his family. He wanted them to have more and to be more. He did not wish to have the Shelby name only associated with gypsies, travelers, and Birmingham. Tommy Shelby wanted more out of life. He wanted to be someone of importance.
When Tommy heard footsteps approaching, he pulled out his gun and turned around to point it at the unknown assailant. However, he did not come face-to-face with a would-be attacker. Instead, it was you with your hands up.
“Whoa! Don’t shoot!” you yelled, stepping back slowly.
“Shit! What are you doing out so late?” Tommy questioned sternly and put his gun away. “I could have shot you.”
“But you didn’t pull the trigger,” you said, trying to lighten the mood.
Tommy was not amused. He walked up to you and asked why you were walking around Small Heath late at night.
You let out a sigh, “I couldn’t sleep. I keep having these weird dreams. What about you? Why are you out here and not at home?”
“Same,” Tommy replied truthfully. There was no point trying to put on a tough front with you, mostly because he was tired and did not have the energy to come up with a lie.
Ever since the night Tommy walked you to the Yard to see his horse, he finally concluded that you were harmless. It was also the night that he realized he wanted you for himself.
“I couldn’t sleep and decided to get some air,” continued Tommy and pulled out a cigarette. He presented one to you, which you accepted.
You touched Tommy’s hand when he offered his match to light the cigarette. The two of you stood around the Cut, smoking in silence. You saw some boxes off to the side and took a seat, which Tommy followed suit.
“If you could be anywhere in the world right now, where would you be?” you asked Tommy out of the blue.
He turned to look at you, eyebrows raised. It was an odd question. One had not given much thought. However, the smile on your face helped brighten his sullen mood.
“I don’t know. That is not a question I have ever been asked. What about you? Where would you like to be?”
Without pause, you answered, “The Aran Islands.” When you saw Tommy quirk an eyebrow, you explained, “I remember reading ‘The Aran Islands’ by John Millington Synge. The book is a four-part collection of Synge’s journal entries where he shares his interaction with the Aran Islands people. He also talks about the culture and the language, predominantly Irish speaking, and how the community has a real connection through their stories and history. It reminded me of the traveler’s life, you know. How we use stories to tell the younger generation of our history, that is how we keep our traditions.”
“The Aran Islands, eh, that sounds like a nice place. Fuck it. I’ll take you there myself,” Tommy uttered playfully.
“Really? You would be willing to take me to the Aran Islands?”
“It would be an adventure, something new for the both of us, eh. We can spend our time learning Gaelic and taking in the ocean breeze. Our skin would get dry because of the saltwater, but at least it would a step up from Small Heath,” suggested Tommy. There was a hint of excitement in his voice that was nice to your ears.
“Deal. You better keep hold up to that promise, Tommy Shelby. I would hate to have to leave you behind.”
“Oh, we will go, I promise. I may be a lot of things, but I am a man of my word,” he replied.
After a few minutes of continued quiet, Tommy spoke up, “I better take you home.”
Tommy stood up, stubbed out his cigarette, and offered his hand to you, which you accepted.
As you walked back to your home, Tommy did not let go of your hand. You liked the feel of his large, calloused hand wrapped around yours. Tommy noticed that you began rubbing your thumb against his; it only made him tighten his grip. He was not letting you go.
When you reached the door of your home, you turned back to Tommy. You didn’t want him to leave.
“Do you want to come inside?” you shyly asked him.
“Are you sure?” Tommy questioned, leaning closer to you. “People may talk.”
“So, let them talk. We are grown-ups, are we not? We can make our own choices,” you said and leaned in to kiss Tommy on the lips. It took him by surprise that you were the one to make the first move. He liked your boldness and responded to the kiss. You pulled back to open the front door and pulled Tommy along with you inside the house.
You continued to lead him towards your bedroom. Tommy wrapped his arms around you and began pulling at the buttons on your blouse while leaving a trail of kisses along your neck. He could not remember a time where he wanted someone so bad. Tommy desperately wanted to feel your bare skin against his. He pulled off his jacket and cap and left them on the floor. You both plopped down on the bed, and it was no holds bar. Both of you were fighting to dominate.
Tommy took your wrists and pinned them above your head. The action made you stop to look up at him.
“You’re going to have to let me lead, love. I can take over from here, yeah,” Tommy ordered and traced one of his fingers along your jaw down to your breast. “Now, be a good girl for me and remove your clothes.”
Without hesitation, you took off your garments with Tommy’s help. Not long after, he removed his clothes and was on top of you once again. He ran a hand along your naked body, making sure to squeeze your breasts and tug your nipples. The action elicited a moan from your mouth. Tommy’s hand ran over your stomach and down to your lower region.
“Not quite ready for me, but I will get you ready. Just relax for me, love,” Tommy instructed and slipped a finger between your folds. You arched your back off the bed at the new sensation you were feeling. With your positive reaction, Tommy inserted another finger and began increasing his pumping. Soon, you felt the pulsing between your legs rise throughout the rest of your body. Tommy noticed you tightening around his fingers. You were close and ready, so he pulled out but then lined his cock against the opening of your cunt.
Slowly, Tommy entered inside and allowed you time to adjust to his length. You liked the way Tommy stretched you as he bottomed out. When Tommy leaned down to capture your lips to his, you lightly nudge him to begin moving.
“Eager, aren’t we?” Tommy teased and began a slow pace. He wanted to take his time with you, to appreciate every inch and feel of you writhing against him. It was a more Tommy wanted to savor and burn it to memory.
“Tommy,” you panted, clawing at his back. “I need you to go faster, please. I can take it.”
Obliging to your begging, Tommy adjusted his position, so he was on his knees. He grabbed your hips and began upping his pace. The new position allowed Tommy to hit your sweet spot.
“Oh, shit!” you yelled out at the new sensation you were feeling. It all felt so good, and it only got better when Tommy began rubbing your clit. You were almost close to the edge that you did not think you could last very long.
The bubble burst, and you arched your back and letting out a scream. Most likely, heard by the neighbors or any bystanders on the street; however, you did not care. You were feeling ecstasy at that moment. Tommy followed after you with his orgasm and plopped down on the bed next to you.
Looking over at Tommy, you saw he had his eyes closed and trying to even out his breathing. He looked peaceful and sweet. You could see the boyish charm on his face and not the cold-hearted gangster he showed to the world. You were going to cherish this moment, that you would soon find out would be few and far between.
