Please don’t compare yourself to my blog because I only mostly show the highlights. And just because I reblog something about studying languages doesn’t mean I’ve actually done much that day!
There’s nothing wrong with taking it slow and enjoying the language! We’re all here to learn because we want to. There’s no pressure to learn quickly. Learning a language is a lifelong journey, and there’s no rush to fluency. Whatever amount you’re doing, it’s okay and you’re welcome on this blog :-)

10 and 12 for language learning ask game! 😊
Thank you for the questions! ❤️ (which I must admit I pondered over quite a bit before replying)
10. Favorite language learning moment this year?
That’s a really difficult question, since I might replace “moment” with “process” or “experience” - I actually think that just using Norwegian to interact with people and to experience the world has been my favorite language (learning) experience. It was such a joy to be able to use Norwegian every day for three weeks this summer, and I felt like I was finally able to “convince” people I was speaking with to just continue talking to me in Norwegian. Last year, people often immediately switched to English when they heard I wasn’t a native speaker, but this year that didn’t happen at all, which gave me a huge confidence boost. Also, I don’t mark or use a dictionary to look up words I don’t know when reading Norwegian novels anymore (focus is on enjoyment 😁), and a few months ago, I was so moved by one of the novels I was reading that I started crying, which felt beautiful in a way.
12. What are your language learning goals for next year?
For Norwegian, I’d like to take Norskprøven and get B2 for all of the individual parts (if anyone has done this I’d love to hear about your experiences preparing for/taking the exam!). In order to do that I definitely need to work on my speaking and writing. I was thinking of keeping a little audio diary and regularly doing writing exercises, but I’m not sure how to structure that yet.
I’ve been in quite a slump with Japanese, but my goal is to find a speaking partner so that I can practice on a regular basis. Actually going to Japan would be a huge motivational boost as well, but that’s more of a financial/time question mark…
I want to continue with Finnish (it’s too cool not to) and dabble in more languages as the opportunities present themselves (trips, media, etc). In the broadest sense, I just want to keep combining the languages I study with other interests I have 😎

AO3 Stats Quiz
Thank you for tagging me, @emeraldhaze15! 🥰 I forgot there’s a statistics page on Ao3, so it’s been a long time since I’ve looked at it.
➼ What is your total posted word count on AO3?
699,121. That reminds me that I need to move more of my works from fanfiction.net onto Ao3.
➼ How often do you write?
I typically write at least once every few days, with varying degrees of success. Writing’s been coming slowly lately, but using a sprint bot has helped me stop overthinking what I put down. Sometimes I just need that extra little push.
➼ Do you have a routine for writing?
I like to have something to drink at my side, along with some chill music playing in the background. I will change the music to suit the mood if I’m writing something more dramatic, but relaxing typically works best for me. Lately, I’ve been using sprint bots and write in a few fifteen minute bursts. When I’m editing or thinking of new ideas, I don’t have a timer going.
➼ What are your favourite tropes/pairings?
Oooh, I have a lot that I enjoy, honestly. This list is just a taste of the things I like, hehe.
Tropes: Hurt/Comfort, slow burn, friends to lovers, strangers to lovers, found family, angst with a happy ending, fluff, fluff with substance
Pairings: I don’t think it’s any secret that I love Cliff x Claire as my OTP. Outside of that, I have lately been really enjoying mixing the pairings all around. I like canon pairings, rare pairs, and I adore unexpected pairings that are written very convincingly! As long as they can have some fun chemistry, I have fun dabbling and playing around with the possibilities.
➼ Do you have a favourite fic of yours?
The Shy Newcomer has so much of myself, my heart, my life, and my experiences intertwined into it that I’d feel wrong picking anything else. It is truly a labor of love.
➼ Your fic with the most kudos?
The Shy Newcomer. I’m not really surprised, since it’s the one I have had around for so long. I’m so grateful that people enjoy it 💖
I’m a little surprised that the story with the second most is the first lemon I wrote with my OTP. 😳 I look back on it and feel like some of the language was a little clunky, but thank you all for being so nice about it!
➼ Anything you don’t like about your writing?
Ack, this is a dangerous question, as I tend to spiral when I don’t feel confident. That’s got to count as one thing I don’t like about my creative process. For the writing itself, I do wish that I could stop overthinking while drafting and being paranoid people will dislike what I write. It’s not perfect, but whose writing is? I have a few phrases I lean on too heavily and am constantly having to find them and weed them out. I’m sure there are other phrases I’m aware I use a lot, hehe.
I often struggle connecting scenes. That’s honestly what takes the longest to write – how to get from one scene to the next. I can also be a little redundant while writing as well to really drive a point home. I often fear that the words I use are too common and boring and I wish my style were a little more poetic.
➼ Now something you do like?
Another tough question. 😅 I really love writing mental dialogue, and when I receive comments that readers can relate to my characters, it makes my heart soar. I feel that characterization in my strong suit, and I really strive to make my characters feel like real people. I love capturing the excitement, joy, pain, disappointment, and everyday moments in life and putting all those feelings into my story.
Tags: @quartzfox @hikamaus, @krosaceae, @sketch-witch, @chickchickee, @forgetmenotboys, and anyone else who would like to play! (My brain hasn’t woken up yet today and I’m sure I left a bunch of people out ^-^;)

What about when the staff/Belle/Adam were all kids?
belle had her nose in a book half the time/all the time and maurice was seriously concerned about having to get her glasses until one day she looked up with a thousand-mile stare and said “i’m going to invent contacts” and she did. as a 9-year old
adam..well, we all know how his childhood went down. T R A U MA. but trauma (while it feels like it can fill up a whole lot) doesn’t fill up the whole of it; adam’s joy and hope and life kept springing up, like sprouts through concrete, little odd wonders like the cloth-bound books in the library and puppet shows that came through town and wondering, ever just wondering, if anything truly miraculous would ever happen to him
lumiere was a harum-scarum young brat on the dirty streets of paris, scaring the poor wits out of his parents and yodeling songs to the never-caring moon while perched on the roof of a bakery. (but a lady in one of the houses nearby did care for his singing and always wondered forever after what became of him, earning her the world-record of the only lady who remembered lumiere during the curse for no reason beyond loving a young boy’s singing)
cogsworth was one of those boys who Collected Things. stamps, toads, rocks, coins, all carefully delineated on little neatly labeled shelves; a little room, a little museum, all his own. in his own little wonderful world where he didn’t have to hear children screaming or roads bumping or his dreadful aunt hortense going on about what she had for breakfast, again, her screechy voice coursing over horrible things
garderobe was incredibly focused as a child, knowing from the start just what she wanted to do, and she regrets it sometimes because wouldn’t it have been fun to dabble as a scientist? to have a little horse-girl phase? but no from the beginning when she saw a ballerina to the very moment she was on that stage herself, and on and on forever after, all she ever wanted was a polished stage and the flood of lights turned her way and people, wonderful people, hanging on her every note
cadenza never felt safe as a little boy, he was always looking over one shoulder, he never felt he had that person he could lock his entire self into, who would accept all of him—the neuroses, the long rambling spools of thought, the hyper obsession and the vaulting, babbling ecstasy of a great composition—and feeling unsafe like that eats away at you, it becomes a kind of prison in its way, and he always felt a little safer with keys beneath his fingertips but it wasn’t until he met garderobe that he found another person can really be a new doorway into happiness
plumette had a childhood surrounded by love, her soft mama with the perfume that smelled like snowdrops, her soft lovely aunts, the grandmama with the crystal, cut-glass animals dotting her window ledge; the view of beautiful labyrinths stretching out away from the palace, her brothers running down the halls yelling, paper cranes in their hands, sending the birds flying down the banisters. and then dark plague—creeping silence—a run, alone, out of paris, through the woods, brambles scratching at her feet. finding that new homes can be built, with new families in new places, even while old ones are treasured.
chapeau found that everything, as a child, was too LOUD. too much shrieking about ribbons. too much squawking about hats. his mother was kind and she tried to hallow out quiet places for him in the millinery, but he found more joy in making those quiet spaces for himself—making himself a quiet temple, in the end, a silent song all to himself.
cuisinier dipped himself into everything as a child—he tried different languages, different lives, as if they were soups, and could warm him up from the blood out. it was only while chopping radishes at a back-alley bar that he found out how alive being the warmth could make you feel—not just waiting for something to raise you up, but raising up everything around you by being a pOWERHOUSE (at chopping radishes)
mrs potts grew up surrounded by lavender fields, always feeling like she could be a little better than this, see a little farther than just the sheep pasture and the back meadow. she loved her family, so, so much—but always felt like she wanted to explore the world, just a little, and find a corner of it to make entirely her own. her hands were always busy, a little something tucked away just for her—embroidering her aprons in spots no one could see, knitting little handwarmers as she waits for the kettle to boil. making the world a little brighter, just by the work of her two small hands.

5e Irelia, the Blade Dancer build (League of Legends)
(Artwork by Jessica “OwleyCat” Oyhenart. Made for Riot Games.)
FINE I’LL MAKE IRELIA GOD FUCKING DAMMIT!
Irelia is my least favorite champion in League. She’s not my most banned (Shaco) nor is she the champion I complain the most about, but she is absolutely the champion that I look at and constantly think “this character actively ruins the game for me.” I’ll admit that Irelia’s role in the Sentinels of Light story was pretty interesting but you’re still not going to make me like Irelia, Riot!
I’m not going to bore everyone with a long-winded rant about my hatred for this character and how what I thought was going to be a nerf actually made her S tier (joy to the fucking world I now actually have to ban her) but I will say this: there are no champions who I won’t make a genuine build for if I take the time to make a proper blog post about them... Except Talon, but that’s because Talon has one of the most boring kits in the entirety of League of Legends.
GOALS
Step. Two. Whirl. Lift! - What? Do you think that a champion with literally unlimited dashes is unfair?
Perfection of form - We’ll also need to weave our blades around us like a dress, slicing at foes and protecting yourself in one fluent motion.
Remember the Placidium! - When in doubt just use more blades.
RACE
Irelia’s a human... but making humans all the time is boring. Irelia has an innate magic and I’d consider being in-tune with Ionia’s spirit a connection to the Fey. So I decided to make her an elf for the sake of this build, more particularly an Aereni High Elf from Eberron for the innate Expertise.
A regular High Elf works too if your DM doesn’t allow Eberron races; the only thing that really changes with the Aereni High Elf is that you get Expertise in a skill. Valenar elves are also cool for the Double Scimitar.
You can also make Irelia a human but there aren’t many feats I want for her except maybe Mobile, but I felt like being an elf was more fun to grab other feats.
As an elf you have +2 to your Dexterity score, Keen Senses for proficiency in the Perception skill (gotta watch those wards!), and the Fey Ancestry of Ionia grants you advantage against charms and immunity to being put to sleep magically. Instead of sleeping you can spend time in a Trance meditating to regain strength. You only need 4 hours in a trance to rest, and are fully aware of your surroundings while doing so.
As an Aereni Elf you get Expertise in one skill of your choice: we’ll be taking Performance because... well you are a dancer. As a High Elf you learn one Cantrip from the Wizard list, and we’ll actually be taking Prestidigitation to aid in our performances. Oh and you’d normally be increasing your Intelligence by 1 but we’ll instead be increasing your Wisdom because... well it fits Irelia more. (No big loss if you increase Intelligence instead though.) And you can learn one language of your choice: pick whatever you think would inspire fear into the heart of Noxians!
ABILITY SCORES
15; CHARISMA - A dancer is meant to be beautiful first and foremost.
14; DEXTERITY - Of course dancing takes nimbleness. "When no one's around, I dance for myself."
13; WISDOM - This is where the +1 from our race is going! Keep in-tune with the natural world and Ionia’s spirit.
12; CONSTITUTION - You are still a top laner with just... way too much sustain. (Feel free to swap this with Wisdom for more HP but less roleplay.)
10; INTELLIGENCE - Nature is an intelligence skill and military tactics are good to learn, but we simply need everything else more.
8; STRENGTH - You swing your blades with the rhythm of the natural order. Which is to say Riot doesn’t like buff ladies.
BACKGROUND
A dancer is a type of Entertainer. You get proficiency in Acrobatics but since you already have expertise in Performance feel free to grab Nature to become more in-tune with the world around you. You also get proficiency with a Disguise Kit and an instrument of your choice: pick whatever you think suits you and make your own Ionian war hero!
You feature By Popular Demand makes you known as both a dancer and a war leader! You can perform in exchange for a place to rest for you and your allies, and people will remember your dance and treat you with respect.

THE BUILD
LEVEL 1 - ROGUE 1
What? Did you expect this to just be 20 levels of Swords Bard? Honestly Rogue serves as a better recreation of Irelia’s abilities, at least at early levels. That and I want proficiency in 4 skills, so take Insight, Persuasion, Intimidation, and Slight of Hand proficiency to lead and dance with grace. You also get Expertise in two of those skills: Acrobatics is a must but since we’ve already got proficiency in Performance you may as well grab Persuasion for good relations with Ionia’s people.
You also get Thieves’ Cant to speak in the way only other performers can understand, “performers” in this case being other Rogues. But of course the main skill you get is Sneak Attack, giving you an extra d6 of damage if you have advantage on your attack or an ally is near the enemy you’re attacking.
LEVEL 2 - ROGUE 2
I always love when I get to recreate League of Legends dashes by just... letting you use the Dash action a lot. Second level Rogues can make Cunning Actions to Dash, Disengage, or Hide as a Bonus Action. Keep it simple stupid and weave around your foes on the battlefield.
LEVEL 3 - ROGUE 3
Third level Rogues get to choose their Roguish Archetype, and to dance around the battlefield while slicing down foes the Swashbuckler is a great choice to keep your rhythm in check. Your Fancy Footwork will allow you to attack a foe before slipping away without provoking Opportunity Attacks while your Rakish Audacity will allow you to add your Charisma to your Initiative to always be the first on the front line.
Rakish Audacity also lets you Sneak Attack a foe who is alone on the battlefield as long as you don’t have disadvantage and they don’t have an ally within 5 feet, letting you hit them for an extra 2d6 with your blades.
Now may as well be a time to ask: Dual Wielding or single weapon? Since you’re not going to be getting a shield I’d say carrying two blades is worth it for the potential to deal more damage when needed. You can also use your Dual Wielding attack to activate Fancy Footwork more often to evade more enemies. Just be mindful of when Dashing or Dodging would be more useful.
LEVEL 4 - ROGUE 4
4th level Rogues get an Ability Score Improvement and Dexterity controls most of what we do right now, so a +2 to DEX would be beneficial.
LEVEL 5 - ROGUE 5
Normally I wouldn’t go out of my way to grab level 5 in Rogue just for the sake of Uncanny Dodge, but here’s the thing: it’s literally Irelia’s Defiant Dance! Take less damage from an attack you saw coming before striking back with your 3d6 Sneak Attack.
(Artwork by Michelle Hoefener. Made for Riot Games.)
LEVEL 6 - BARD 1
Now it’s time for those 20 15 levels in Swords Bard! Multiclassing into Bard gives you proficiency with one musical instrument (pick your fancy) and one skill of your choice: I opted for Arcana because... well you’re fighting with magical floating blades. (Or at least you will be in due time.)
As a Bard you can inspire your allies as a Bonus Action thanks to Bardic Inspiration, letting them add a d6 to their Attack Rolls, Ability Checks, or Saving Throws. You have a maximum number of Inspiration die equal to your Charisma modifier, which come back after a Long Rest... for now.
But of course as a Bard you get Spellcasting! You learn two cantrips from the Bard list such as Message to communicate on the frontline, and Vicious Mockery which is sure what I fucking feel playing against an Irelia one-trick smurf account. You can also learn four leveled spells like Faerie Fire to mark your foes, Command to strike fear in the hearts of foes, Heroism to strike vigor in the hearts of allies, and Healing Word; because healing is always good to have.
LEVEL 7 - BARD 2
Second level Bards have dabbled in a little bit of everything: healing, damage, healing, mobility, healing, crowd control, oh and I think Irelia does need some more healing. Regardless Jack of All Trades will let you add half your proficiency bonus to any skill checks you aren’t already proficient in. (This also includes Initiative which is important to mention!)
If you use Tasha’s rules you can also grab Magical Inspiration to make your allies’ spells either heal more or do more damage thanks to your Inspiration. Oh and speaking of spells you can also grab Longstrider for more speed on the battlefield.
Oh and you get Song of Rest, the ability I always mock for scaling poorly. But it will help your allies recover after a hard battle!
LEVEL 8 - BARD 3
Irelia has many magical blades because she went to the College of Swords. Along with Bonus Proficiencies with Medium Armor and Scimitars (neither of which Rogues have for some reason) you can pick up a Fighting Style: I personally opted for Two-Weapon Fighting to get more attacks in but Dueling is also a perfectly fine.
Of course the main appeal of being a Blade Dancer is your Blade Flourish: When you attack on your turn you move 10 feet faster until the end of the turn, and if you hit you can use a Bardic Inspiration on a Blade Flourish:
Defensive Flourish lets you roll your Bardic Inspiration to add to your damage and AC.
Slashing Flourish lets you roll your Bardic Inspiration to add to your damage, and do that extra damage to any other creature of your choice (that you can see) within 5 feet of you.
Mobile Flourish lets you roll your Bardic Inspiration to add to (guess what) the damage. You can also push the target up to 5 feet away from you, plus a number of feet equal to the number you roll on that die. Immediately afterwards you can use your reaction to move up to your walking speed to an unoccupied space within 5 feet of the target. It’s not quite a Dash, but it’s certainly a Bladesurge!
You can only use one Blade Flourish per turn though. Additionally you get Expertise in two skills like Insight and Nature, to know the spirit of both people and the world around you. And finally you can learn a second level spell like Hold Person for a stun before you do your full combo.
LEVEL 9 - BARD 4
4th level Bards can grab something a little better than Flash; the Fey Teleportation feat! Along with a +1 to your Charisma you learn Sylvan, but most importantly you can cast Misty Step once per Short or Long Rest to get out of a dangerous situation! It unfortunately doesn’t add the spell to your spell list (like Fey Touched from Tasha’s Cauldron) but being able to regain your mobility spell after a Short Rest is extremely useful!
Speaking of spells you learn one more Bard spell, and one more cantrip! For your cantrip take Mage Hand to grab blades from afar, and for your leveled spell take Calm Emotions. It perhaps isn’t the most practical and there are certainly better options, but it’s fitting.
(Artwork made for Riot Games.)
LEVEL 10 - BARD 5
5th level Bards get a Font of Inspiration, letting their Bardic Inspiration charges come back after a Short Rest. That’s nice because your Bardic Inspiration (and Blade Flourish die) also increases to a d8.
You can also grab a third level spell like Hypnotic Pattern, to stun an entire army with your blades.
LEVEL 11 - BARD 6
6th level Bards can finally turn their Vampiric Scepter into Blade of the Ruined King, giving them some Attack Speed for an Extra Attack. You can still only use one Blade Flourish per turn, but at least now you can attack twice with your action or up to three times if you make a Two-Weapon Fighting attack.
You can also grab another spell but there’s not much I want from third level, so instead I’ll talk about Countercharm, which is dumb and bad. You spend an action to give yourself and nearby allies advantage against Charms and Fears. Or you could fight through the fear and slay your foes... or cast Heroism or Calm Emotions.
LEVEL 12 - BARD 7
7th level Bards can learn 4th level spells like Dimension Door to teleport into lane or back to base, and Freedom of Movement for some Tenacity.
LEVEL 13 - BARD 8
8th level Bards get another Ability Score Improvement. We’ve been investing more in Bard so more Charisma would be nice for more Blade Flourishes and better spellcasting.
You can also learn another spell but again: don’t really want anything, so we’re going to wait for...
(Artwork by Jana Schirmer. Made for Riot Games.)
LEVEL 14 - BARD 9
9th level Bards get to pretend that Song of Rest is a useful ability that scales well, especially when multiclassing. I mean, at least it’s a d8 now!
You also get 5th level spells like Animate Objects. Hey: it only took us 14 levels to get your blades! You can also grab Rary's Telepathic Bond (ty Tasha’s) to keep to team chat with everyone.
LEVEL 15 - BARD 10
10th level Bards get Expertise in two more skills: take Arcana to further your connection to Ionia, and Slight of Hand for the specific hand movements to manipulate your blades. You also see your Bardic Inspiration increase to a d10, which also means your Blade Flourishes deal a d10 of damage!
Additionally you get Magical Secrets from any class so you can use your unique brand of blade magic. And by far the most blade-like spell you can grab (at this level) is Steel Wind Strike, to dash through multiple foes for a big burst of damage!
Additionally we will be grabbing Blade of the Ruined King (finally) with Spirit Shroud; yes it’s a bit of a low-level spell but it serves as a great damage boost to your melee attacks and also keeps enemies close for you to fight them. And finally you get one more cantrip: Mending will help you keep your outfit in check.
Also if you want you can replace Message with Prestidigitation now that you have Rary’s Telepathic Bond.
LEVEL 16 - BARD 11
11th level Bards get 6th level spells: you can lean into your lessons as a dancer and take Otto's Irresistible Dance to force your foes to keep up with the rhythm or die trying. "Okay, I'm warmed up."
LEVEL 17 - BARD 12
12th level Bards don’t get extra spells, but they do get another Ability Score Improvement: more Charisma means more Bardic Inspiration die (for more Blade Flourishes), better spells, and more initiative so capping that out would give you more bang for your buck overall.
(Artwork by Art of Maki. Made for Riot Games.)
LEVEL 18 - BARD 13
Hey remember when I said Song of Rest is a useful ability? Well it’s a d10 now!
At least you can learn Forcecage to take Noxians as prisoners of war to be properly judged... As long as they don’t have a filth bucket in their cell.
LEVEL 19 - BARD 14
14th level Swords Bards as masters of their blades, and can perform a Master’s Flourish using a d6 instead of one of their Bardic Inspiration.
You also get two more Magical Secrets, and hey we can finally grab your ult! Take Blade Barrier to cut the armies off with your Vanguard’s Edge. Alternatively if you need to go back to base take Word of Recall to recall back to your fountain. Which is to say: I had no other good spells to give you.
LEVEL 20 - BARD 15
15th level Bards see their Bardic Inspiration die (and their Blade Flourish die) increase to its maximum size of a d12! And you can cap off the build with an 8th level spell, but in all honesty there isn’t many spells I want from 8th level. So use that slot to upcast and take Hold Monster instead to finally be able to stun Wukong.
FINAL BUILD
PROS
Grace bends where strength breaks - You have a variety of ways to deal consistent damage between competency with swords, Blade Flourishes, and powerful spells.
I move to unsung melodies and unbeaten rhythms - +12 to initiative and the ability to move between enemies you attack freely means you’re guaranteed to be on the battlefield fast and able to put yourself in a position to fight with your allies.
Never stop learning; there's always a form you don't know - It was not my intention but turns out Bards and Rogues get a lot of skill proficiencies. +17 in Performance and Persuasion, +16 in Acrobatics and Slight of Hand, +14 in Insight, and +12 in Arcana and Nature. Not to mention Jack of All Trades helping you with all the skills you don’t have proficiency in.
CONS
Each form has a name known only to the wind - So your Dexterity isn’t maxed out, which means you’re a little lacking in both AC and hit chance. Honestly level 5 of Rogue isn’t that good, even if Uncanny Dodge works well as Defiant Dance. 4 / 16 would’ve been better for another ASI.
Stay ready, and there is no need to get ready - Most of your fun spells are accessed at a very high level, with your lower leveled spells dedicated more to utility. You’re a sword fighter first and foremost but seeing as your Charisma is maxed it would be good to use your high Charisma.
We are sharpest where we break! - Low DEX and no Shield (no Shield spell and two-weapon Fighting) means that your AC isn’t the most impressive. That along with 120 health means that a few bad hits can put you in the danger zone. Sure Uncanny Dodge gives you a reliable way to soak up damage but a good surprise hit will quickly put an end to you.
But you don’t need to worry about weaknesses when you’re probably smurfing anyways. Dash, dance, and decapitate foes in a graceful death of a thousand cuts. Keep your style and inspire the commonfolk to take up arms to protect their homeland. Just don’t get too out of line, or Riot might nerf your movement speed by 5.

Hellfire and Ectoblasts
For @cleanlenins
Title: Hellfire and Ectoblasts Fandom: Danny Phantom x Lucifer Summary: The devil works hard, but Vladimir Masters works harder. When Vladimir Master dabbles in dealing favors to others to get his way - much easier than constantly possessing everyone - Lucifer Morningstar has a few choice words for the business tycoon. Rating: T for cursing (multiple uses of the F word, mentions of drug abuse) Final Word Count: 5005 Ft. Uncle/Redeemed Vlad AU
Read on A03 Read on FF
Commission Me | Tip A Writer | Twitter
Los Angeles is new territory, despite all the places Vladimir Masters has traveled. He has drunk martinis in the sands of Bahamas, made deals in Cancun, and has a passport larger than most politicians. He has even traveled further into the Ghost Zone than most of the fully ghosts there.
Yet the city of angels has always eluded him, or rather he eluded it. It never quite appealed to him, with the oddities and gaudy casinos. It felt almost beneath him and it has, honestly, never been on his priority list - at least, not until now.
Business is business and Vlad Masters will always go where business is; even if it is in a city like Los Angeles. Even if it is with an admittedly annoying sixteen year old teenager for a long extended amount of time.
Honestly, what was he thinking when he wanted Daniel as a son? He should have gone after Jasmine, he begrudges. At least she knew when to be quiet.
“Are we there yet?”
Vlad feels his eyebrow twitch, a vein throbbing in his neck. Daniel Fenton has the nerve to look at him with large innocent, doe eyes as if that is not the hundredth time he has asked that question in the past hour.
His somewhat nephew had jumped on the chance to go to LA with him; he would have been more suspicious of Daniel’s intention if not for the fact that the space shuttle endeavor will be within one quick bus ride from their hotel. As challenging, and even powerful, as Daniel can be - he is very much an open book that has been quite easy to read.
Danny opens his mouth, as if to ask that infuriating question again, but is stopped short by a small ecto blast. The ectoplasm effectively sticks against his mouth and despite the way he claws it, it refuses to budge. He settles for crossing his arms in a huff with a narrow glare. He idly considers it for a moment before a middle finger raises in contempt.
“Curse at me all you want, Daniel, but I refuse to listen to that infernal question the entire trip.”
Danny’s body language makes it clear that he is mocking him. Vlad waits until his fit is over before removing the ecto blast. Danny, huffing about being cut-off, leans back into the seat of the private jet. When he glances out the window, catching glimpses of clouds, he can not help but think wistfully how much better it would be to be flying Airline Danny. Jets, private or otherwise, are too confining now that he knows what it feels like to touch clouds.
He bets that the skies of Los Angeles is beautiful up close. He absently wonders if he gets far away enough to the nearby desert if he will be able to get a good view of the stars. The Orion constellation, not to mention a few planets like Venus and even Saturn, should be more visible here than it would be in Amity Park. He wonders if he flies high enough if he can get a good picture with a smartphone.
“Why are you going to LA anyway? Don’t you have enough money that you don’t need to be blowing it at casinos? Or is that the whole point?”
He barely even spares Vlad a glance through the corner of his eyes, arms crossed lazily against his chest as his cheek presses against the cool glass of the window. While being with Vlad is not the worst thing in the world - at least not anymore - he can not help but wish he would’ve been able to bring Sam and Tucker along. He imagines that they would be thrilled to go somewhere that’s not the Nasty Burger. At the very least, they would be better conversationalists.
Well, I guess it’s at least fun to mess with him, Danny thinks wistfully, a more devious smile on his face. If anything, it is a great way to pass the time. Messing with Vlad has always been a treasure, but now with little repercussions, at least nothing that compares to the way he used to threaten to kill his dad, it is like the entire world is his oyster.
“You can never have enough money, young badger.”
Danny coughs something into his elbow that sounds suspiciously like ‘ eat the rich’. His eyes watch Vlad carefully with feign innocence, as if he never said anything at all. His elbow hides the large shit-eating grin threatening to break on his face.
Vlad makes a point to ignore the comment, continuing easily, “Since our - my -”
He struggles to find the right word, fumbling a bit with a strained look on his face. Mentions of the past have always been hard to bring up when he is, honestly, doing his best to move forward from it. He feels strained at the mere mention of how he behaved beforehand, somewhat even embarrassed by the things he tried to pull. He cannot be thankful enough that the Fentons, including even Daniel, have even given him this second chance. The young badger’s trust is not an easy thing to earn.
“ Your redemption arc,” Danny offers somewhat helpfully.
While not fond of the term, Vlad has to admit that he cannot think of a better phrase.
“-Yes.”
He accepts the term Danny offers with clenched teeth, “-and as such, possession has become quite unfavorable . I have taken up doing business the old-fashioned way.”
Danny turns to face him. His innocently blinking eyes do not fool anyone with the gleam of mischief shining brightly in them.
“-Legal suits and proper paperwork?”
Vlad snaps at him suddenly, a vein throbbing in his forehead as he regrets taking off the ecto-gag.
“Oh will you - stop that?”
The outburst sends Danny reeling into a laughing fit, clenching his sides tightly.
__________________________________
Danny’s smartass comments cost him; though, in his opinion, it was absolutely worth it. To his dismay, Vlad drags him along through the city of angels instead of leaving him at the hotel. He claimed he needed to meet a new potential business partner. He gave an entire speech of how it would be good for him to learn how the business world works, but Danny can only recall maybe the first few sentences of said speech. Vlad even went as far as stuffing Danny into the most uncomfortable expensive clothes that he could find. Honestly, couldn’t the man at least get comfy expensive clothes? Gucci makes sweat suits. He makes a mental note to send some links to Gucci sweat suits to Vlad later.
Comfy or not, he still would have preferred to have just headed straight to the space shuttle endeavor. At least then, he would be in ghost form most of the time anyway. It would have been a ten - maybe fifteen - minute flight himself from their hotel room; he even promised Vlad that he would stay invisible the whole time and not touch anything he was not supposed to. A promise that was hard to give since oh man did he want to touch the shuttle just to say he touched something that was in space. He even begged his uncle. Slipped in a few mentions of how his mom would be so happy if he was able to go and get pictures.
He almost got him too, but alas, his efforts were in vain. Instead, he is stuck in a limo. It is not a bad thing in and of itself, but even a luxurious car feels suffocating when you want to be somewhere else.
He eyes the protesters lining up on certain streets. Sam would have loved it here. He keeps track of all of the ‘trendy’ vegan cafes he spots along the way for future reference; he even spots a few goth-centric stores. He snaps a few pictures, sending them over their group chat. He follows them up with pictures of pictures of every BBQ stand he finds for Tucker’s sake.
Sam: Still with the ex-villain?
Danny snorts, scooting away from Vlad as much as he could before snapping a picture of his unsuspecting ex-arch nemesis. Vlad visibly sighs, the exhaustion showing on his face as he does not even bother to look at Danny anymore.
Tucker: Someone looks like he’s having a great time
Danny: He’s with me, of course he’s having a great time. I’m a joy to be around. An absolute blast.
Tucker: Isn’t every party you’ve gone to nowadays a bit - dead?
Danny audibly groans at the bad attempt at puns, sending a quick message of how puns are his thing; it’s his whole shtick. But like all group chats do, the conversation grows dead pretty fast.
He is already growing bored again after having sent all the memes he could find ( and how dare they not laugh react at them) . He settles for rolling the window up and down obsessively, occasionally even sticking his head through it. When that adrenaline rush is short-lived, he ends up leaning against the door while obnoxiously clicking the window button repeatedly until Vlad is forced to ask the limo driver to put on the child lock. He considers the idea of just phasing his head through the window, but as weird as LA is, he thinks even that would be a stretch.
He could just phase away entirely. After all, the limo is not ghost proof. Vlad even got rid of most of his more outrageous contraptions and traps so he knows that the seat will not suddenly grow restraints if he tries to get up from it. He wonders if the oddity shop that they passed is still open? He did promise everyone souvenirs and the weirder the better (as is the whole point with souvenirs).
But he also promised his mom that he would get along.
Besides, Vlad said he would pay for lunch when they are done and they passed the most delicious looking burger place.
After what feels like forever, watching all the places he wants to go but can’t right now like a sad puppy begging for the window to be let down, the limo finally pulls up in front of a nightclub. LUX. Danny raises a brow. He may not be the smartest out of his family, but dead languages are his specialty. He glances to Vlad, wondering if he should be more concerned about his pseudo-uncle doing business here. Any nightclub named after light that looks this shady can not be good.
He is also pretty sure that he just saw a drug deal around the corner and some of the people in line already look under the influence of something .
“Am I even allowed here,” Danny questions, pausing a moment to count on his fingers, as they exit the limo. “I’m only like - sixteen? I am a literal child. ”
Vlad continues walking as if he does not hear Danny’s voice grating on behind him. Somehow, the teenager has a voice that seems to stick out like a sore thumb against the boom of the music coming out from the club’s doors.
“You are not a child, Daniel,” Vlad finally acknowledges.
“Uh the law would disagree, sir,” Danny waves a finger after him, “I am a minor.”
The sun is already starting to set, which means the club is steadily filling up; a majority of people are still out in long lines outside of the club’s door. He glances at them briefly, if in a bit of curiosity at the club wear. He blushes wildly at some of the more out-there club wear and focuses quickly on the fact that Vlad is steadily getting ahead of him.
“We are not here for drinking, Daniel,” Vlad’s voice comes out a bit exasperated as he fixes his tie. He eyes the people in line with a bit of disdain, but otherwise ignores them.
Vlad continues on past the lines, not acknowledging the way that some of them call after him. He keeps his hands in his pockets as he gets closer to the crowd; Danny realizes that it likely has something to do with the high possibility of getting pick-pocketed. After all, Vlad does not exactly blend in, but neither does Danny in the suit that Vlad forced him in.
Danny is close in tow as they head straight for the bouncer at the door.
If Vlad was not so used to the way that Maddie could ( has and absolutely will) beat him, he would have been more surprised at the woman at the club’s door. The choice being a bit abnormal in the job. Her intimidating presence is enough to make most of the more pushy people at the front second-guess themselves. A few of the people who dare to test the boundary of the velvet rope quickly change their mind as she just glances at them. Danny’s first thought is how much Sam would like the bouncer. The entire leather outfit is just something that feels like she would like, compared with how tough the woman seems to be. If the woman didn’t scare him so much, he would have tried to take a picture.
His second thought, however, is how off she feels. The closer he gets to her, the more his core vibrates deeply in his chest. As if it is trying to transform and get him out of there, like an animal’s instincts to a predator. Run. RUN. RUN. He digs his heels into the ground and refuses to listen to his gut. He refuses to let his gut determine what he thinks about someone, or how he acts on them. He learned the hard way to control that impulse.
Besides, she does not seem that dangerous - he thinks? He glances to the knives strapped to her thigh and the mean look in her eyes. Mostly. But his ghost sense has never gone off. That means that possession is off the table - so is her being a ghost. But he has never felt his core vibrate this way, in such a paralyzing instinctual fear. The only thing that comes close is when he faced Pariah.
Danny is sure that Vlad notices it too, he is way too smart not to. Vlad’s expressionless face does not give a single thing away, staring straight on even as the woman looks him over closely, a sneer on her face. Something about the way she bares her teeth feels more like a threat, as if she is prepared to rip your throat out herself at any given moment. The worst part is that it feels like that is something she is very much capable of doing. She gets startlingly close to Vlad’s face, sniffing him. He refuses to flinch and let this woman know how much she intimidates him.
He seems to pass whatever test she was giving him. Finally she just snorts, taking the card that he offers her. Danny only catches a glimpse of the red and gold lining against black with some sort of name written on it. He barely sees the flash of some sort of horned symbol on the edge. Just who is Vlad doing business with anyway?
Whatever the card is, it works. She backs off, crossing her arms against her chest as she moves out of the way of the door to let them through. The glare she gives some of the people at the front of the line scares them out of even thinking about shoving their way in through the open door.
Danny sticks close to Vlad’s side this time, feeling the urge to get as far away as he can from the woman. He is not sure if she will stop him. He would love to get out of this situation with Vlad, but he would hate that it meant staying anywhere near the woman. The wild beating of his core is getting worse and it feels like he can’t breath.
He is unsure if he can handle being around her much longer with his core acting up like this. He feels like he is this close to a heart attack.
“You smell weird, but whatever. He’s inside.”
He smells weird, Danny wonders how she can smell anything especially when all he can smell is all the people around them not wearing deodorant. He tries his best to brush it off as some sort of intimidating tactic. But when Danny passes by the woman, she leans forward, visibly sniffing him as well.
“Sorry it’s my - uh - aftershave,” Danny’s panicked lie confuses even him as he just waves at the woman as he enters the club, finally taking a deep breath in as the door shuts behind him.
Still thoroughly weirded out by whatever that was, something that does not improve when he’s suddenly surrounded by drunks and loud blaring music, he sticks abnormally close to Vlad. The people surrounding them are too drunk to notice when he phases through the elbows that are just too close to him or the shoulders that almost bump into him. Vlad looks back at him briefly, a ghost of a smile on his face, before he turns attention to the crowd.
“Whatcha looking for? The bar? Drugs? A confessional?” Danny asks as they finally reach a section that gives them some elbow room. He brushes off imaginary dirt, and not so imaginary something , off of his shoulders.
“My business partner,” Vlad answers curtly, eyes still scanning the crowd. He knows what he’s looking for, despite not having met the man before.
When Lucifer Morningstar reached out to him, insisting that they meet in person to discuss business, Vlad almost brushed him off. However, a combination of the man’s obsession with the devil and the fact that Lucifer Morningstar’s very identity doesn’t go back any further than a few years intrigued him. How does a man who legally has only been around for a few years get so ahead in the business world? More importantly, who is he really?
“What does he look like, maybe I can help.” Danny offers, looking over the crowd as if he would suddenly be able to who they are looking for.
“It is our first business meeting, I’m afraid, but if he looks anything like his photos, you can’t miss him.”
That gets Danny’s attention. He swerves suddenly on Vlad, jutting his hands out to form a T, his fingers press against his palm, “Whoa, time out! You brought me to a business meeting with someone you never met before? How do you even know the guy’s like, I don’t know, a ghost hunter?”
“You're a paranoid teenager, young badger.” Vlad’s voice is dry with a lack of amusement, “I’ll have you know that I reach all my partners quite well. Lucifer Morningstar is nothing more than a lunatic, however he is quite popular with our mutual partners.”
“ Lucifer,” Danny harshly whispers, his voice only half-way kidding, “Don’t tell me you actually made a deal with the devil?”
Honestly, it wouldn’t surprise him if Vlad did - if such a thing is really possible - but it would put a strain on their now alliance. Vlad’s about to retort, likely something along the lines of you’re being ridiculous Daniel, but he gets cut off prematurely by another voice.
“Well not yet, but let’s see if that changes today, shall we?”
A particularly British voice gets their attention as a man in a well fitted suit, looking vastly more comfortable in it than Danny is, struts their way. Despite looking like every other business man he’s seen, the man doesn’t feel like the usual stuffy suit type. He feels dangerously charismatic, with an easy smile on his face and a magnetic pull that makes it difficult to turn their attention away from him. He has a few beautiful women, and at least one man, at his side. He whispers something that Danny wishes he didn’t hear, to each of them before they regretfully leave his side.
“You must be Vladimir Masters.” The tone of voice is not a compliment, coming off more mocking, “Look at you, a bit older than I expected, but ultimately age is never an issue. Provided you’re at least an adult.”
The sultry look that the apparent Lucifer Morningstar has as he looks Vlad up and down appreciatively reminds Danny too much of how Vlad used to look at his mom. He starts to feel sick to his stomach, gagging exaggeratingly in the background as he tries his best to ignore the way his core has returned to vibrating, thumping hard against his chest.
Whatever the woman at the door was, Lucifer Morningstar must be at least the same thing - or something close to it - to make his core react the same way. He should be more concerned over it, but he glances toward Vlad. He looks stony as ever, the only sign of discomfort being a vein beginning to throb on his neck. Ah, so he does notice.
He doesn’t seem surprised either. Danny wonders if this is some sort of test again, to see what he will do and how he will react. Especially in front of an unknown factor. Shit. Danny curses when he realizes that’s why Vlad brought him along in the first place and then curses again - more directed at Vlad himself this time - for Vlad being as cryptic and vague as Clockwork.
I just wanted to see the endeavor, Danny bemoans as the man ushers Vlad (and by extension, Danny) to a clear booth. Taking Vlad’s lead, Danny acts more confident this time around, trying his best to act like every inch of his being isn’t screaming to run.
“Drinks,” Lucifer offers, seeming comfortable in the booth with his arms stretched out wide against the edge of the seat across from Danny and Vlad. While Vlad accepts the offer, ordering a simple old fashion, Danny speaks up with a cheeky grin.
“I’ll have a coke on the rocks,” Danny orders, showing a lot of teeth in his grin as he gives finger guns, of all things. After a pause, he adds on, “Not shaken nor stirred, please.”
Vlad’s exasperated sigh is barely audible as he breathes out through his nose. At the very least, he should be glad that Danny is acting normal - as awkward and tiring as normal is.
“I must admit Mr. Morningstar, I was a bit surprised to receive your invitation,” Vlad speaks easily. He politely sips at his drink, but otherwise leaves it untouched, more focused on the conversation. He tries to not let his eye twitch when he hears Danny suck up his coke through a straw.
Lucifer looks at Danny in amusement, seemingly unoffended by the teenager’s manners (a small blessing). Unlike Vlad, Lucifer doesn’t shy away from his own drink, downing it easily. He orders a few more at one of the ladies passing by, followed by flirtatious compliments that make her giggle and once again, makes Danny wish that he couldn’t hear what was being said.
“Well how could I not invite a man such as yourself, Vladimir,” Lucifer’s voice is exaggerated, almost strained, “Or is it Vlad? Vladdy?”
Vlad does twitch at that and Lucifer grins, “Vladdy it is. Better than douchebag, I suppose.”
Danny snorts at the sudden word, laughing hard enough that he barely stops the coke from pouring out of his nose. He takes in a deep breath, wiping at his face with a cocktail napkin as his nose burns from the soda.
“I prefer to use the term fruit loop,” Danny speaks up helpfully.
Lucifer seems delighted at this information, his eyes lighting up in glee as Vlad visibly sinks into the seat.
“ Fruit loop,” Lucifer repeats gleefully, “Lacks a bit in curse words for my liking but fruit loop it is!”
“You can always say fucking fruit loop,” Danny offers as if he is still being helpful, the grin on his face more genuine, “Or fruit by the fucking loop?”
Lucifer’s laugh is infectious, his eyes gleaming as Danny joins him in laughter at Vlad’s expense. For a moment, the two continue back and forth before Vlad is forced to intervene; the vein is his neck is more noticeably throbbing at this point.
“Mr. Morningstar,” Vlad cuts in, his voice stern, “What exactly was the point of the invitation, if I may? I hope it wasn’t to just call me outrageous names.”
Lucifer nonchalantly waves off Vlad’s growing ire, “Oh no, I invited you over for much more than just that. Favors, you will find, are my specialty. One could say it’s my whole business. I grant favors and I do not take kindly to others who sneak up on my business and steal it away.”
There’s a flash of something in Lucifer’s eyes. Something dangerous. As brief as it is, it’s enough to make Danny’s core hum against his chest, his hand grips his knee tightly. His eyes flicker to Vlad and as much as the older man is trying to hide it, Danny can tell that he’s just as suddenly bothered by whatever that was.
“It’s the point of the matter, you know,” Lucifer continues, “Steal my business, shame on me, steal my shtick, shame on you.”
He downs another glass and grabs something off a platter as someone passes by. It looks suspiciously like a joint. He lights it up without a second thought; Danny tries his best to act like he doesn’t know what it is as Vlad eyes him through the corner of his eyes.
“Word is that you, Vladimir Masters, have been sneaking around granting favors to a chosen few. I don’t know how you grant said favors, I don’t particularly care. But I do wish you would stop.”
The dangerous aura that’s thick in the air is heavy, but the realization that Vlad has still been up to shady business is heavier. Danny slumps into the seat, leaning forward with a heavy sigh.
“So you have been up to shady shit,” Danny mumbles under his breath as he absently stirs the straw in what has to be his third glass of coke.
“If you don’t stop,” Lucifer continues, “I’m afraid I’ll have to make you stop. If Mazikeen does not get to you first.”
He gestures his thumb toward the woman that was outside the door; she hovers nearby as if she knows exactly what they’re talking about. The grin on her face is malicious, bordering on feral as she twirls a knife across her knuckles without breaking eye contact. That woman is intimidating, Danny swallows thickly, but grins wildly at Lucifer.
“Oh he’ll stop,” Danny reassures the man before Vlad can even get a word in. There’s an edge to his words; a very clear message underlying his words. “Otherwise I’ll make him stop myself.”
A flash of ectoplasmic green swirls across his eyes. Vlad, not quite intimidated by a sixteen year old still going through puberty, simply mumbles under his breath, oh stop with the ‘scary’ eyes, Daniel, honestly. Lucifer catches the moment, eying them both with interest as he relaxes into the chair. He makes a motion with his hand and suddenly the woman - Mazikeen - isn’t there anymore; Danny isn’t sure where she went, if he should be worried about it, or if it was a sign of good faith.
“ You are a very interesting child,” Lucifer says, “At first I thought you two may have been one of mine, but that’s not really the case is it?”
Danny isn’t sure what one of mine really means; he doesn’t really want to know either. The way Lucifer says it feels off, as if he’s not concerned by it or that they would have been in worse trouble if they had in fact been one of his (whatever that means). Vlad recovers fast, eying Lucifer with narrowed eyes.
“Just what is it that you’re inferring, Mr. Morningstar?”
“Why, that you’re not human, of course!”
He says it as if it’s the most obvious thing in the world, a large grin stretched on his face as he finishes off the suspicious joint, making a point to blow the smoke away from them. It may have been a trick of the light, or even just a magic trick, but Danny swears that the smoke formed some sort of devilish face. Complete with the horns and all.
Danny’s grin falters as he watches Lucifer closely.
F-uck-ing typical. At this rate, he will never get to see the endeavor or any other of California’s space museums. Why can’t he have just one normal road trip for once? No circus ringleader, no reality altering devices, no ghosts, and no ghost hunters. He just wants to get a selfie with a space shuttle, order as much hotel food as he can off of Vlad’s card, and then crash. Maybe even go to the Griffith Observatory. Fly to the Hollywood sign. Sneak into a Disney park and take a selfie on top of Cinderella’s castle. Just a normal trip (with a few added advantages to being a half-ghost boy). Now, he has to instead worry about some devil-obsessed (but definitely weird and maybe not human at all) club owner finding out his secret.
This is exactly what Danny told Vlad; meeting someone you don’t know is just a risk. At the very least, Lucifer doesn’t look like a ghost hunter. He definitely doesn’t fit the M.O. of a Guys In White agent. There could be other agencies out there though, other people who want to hunt them down. Who knows, maybe whatever this guy really is likes to eat ghosts or hunt them for sport. This is exactly what he was concerned about. Now, his secret, and Vlad’s secret too he supposes, could be blown all because Vlad had to go make a shady business deal.
Danny turns to Vlad, not even bothering to whisper as his voice cuts through the loud music.
“I told you so.”

Love Hotline! This is y/n, how can I help you?
Hello?
Hi, is there anything I can help you with?
Um, yes. Is this the number to call to sign up?
Yes, it is! Are you looking to sign up for a membership?
Yes.
Great! Could I get your name and age?
There was a hesitant pause on the other end before the guy spoke up again.
My name is Kim Younghoon, 23 this year.
Ah ok, awesome. I’ll just need your number now so I can send you a link to our online form to fill up or do you want us to use this number you’re currently using? We’ll try to get in touch with you with your match within 3 days!
3 days? That quick?
Yes! We try to be as efficient as possible to ensure client satisfaction.
Ah… I see. You can just use this number that I’m calling with.
Alright! Give me a moment.
Ok.
I’ve just sent the link, did you receive it?
...Yes. Yes, I have.
Great, do you have any other questions?
No. Not at the moment, no.
Alright so I’ll end the call here? If you have any other questions, you can feel free to call again.
Ok. Bye.
Goodbye!
Hello?
Hello! This is y/n again from Love Hotline, I’m here to inquire about the online form you’ve yet to submit? Do you wish to withdraw your application?
Oh… Um… No, I’m just thinking about it.
Hmm, why’s that?
…. I’ve never dabbled in the online dating scene before. I’m just a little nervous and apprehensive about the whole thing I guess.
Ah! That’s completely understandable. All I can say is, it’s always worth a shot. No pressure at all in applying. If you’re ultimately not comfortable with it, you can always drop us another call and we’ll cancel it for you.
Really? You’d do that?
Of course.
I…. Ok, thank you. I’ll try to come to a decision by tonight.
That’s completely fine. Thank you so much! Have a lovely day ahead.
H-Hello?
Hello, this is y/n from Love Hotline. Is this a bad time?
*muffled sounds*
Um no, it isn’t. Sorry, I just woke up.
Oh! I’m really sorry, did I disturb you?
N...No, you didn’t. Don’t worry about it.
Um, ok.
A short moment of silence.
Is there a reason why you’re calling?
Oh, yes! There is, I’m sorry I was just a tad distracted.
You don’t have to apologise but go on anyways.
Right… Based on the information and preferences you have indicated on your form, I think we’ve found a few good matches for you!
Is that so? Tell me about them.
Ok, our first match’s name is Yeh Shuhua and she is 20 this year. She is also a first year criminal law student! Some of her hobbies include acting and singing.
Criminal law student?
There was a hint of surprise and awe in Younghoon’s voice.
Yup! Pretty cool, no?
I suppose so…
Don’t make up your mind just yet! I’ve got two other matches! Next up, we have Park Sooyoung who also goes by Joy. She’s a 23 year old florist who works for her family’s flower shop business. She has also mentioned that one of her dreams would be to travel all over the world.
Oh, that’s interesting… Does that mean flowers won’t work on Valentine’s anymore?
There was soft laughter from the other end of the line at his comment.
Maybe? Is that going to be a setback?
... I don’t know. Probably.
You’re funny, Mr Kim.
Please just call me Younghoon. Mr Kim makes me feel old.
Ah, alright then! You can just call me y/n then.
Sure.
Are you ready for your third match?
Yeah, go off.
Ok, so last but not least… Your third match is Jang Yeeun. 22 and a current freelance graphic designer. She claims to be vegetarian but doesn’t mind if her partner isn’t one.
Vegetarian? That’s a commitment I don’t think I could ever make.
Same here, honestly but hey! More props to her.
Right.
There is soft laughter in the background from Younghoon’s end of the line but it is barely audible.
So? Has any of these 3 ladies caught your eye, or should I say ear so far?
I… I’m not sure. Is that all the information?
Hm, I could send you a little excerpt of their profiles if you’d like?
That would be great, thanks.
Alright, hang on a minute.
Rustling sounds as the phone is placed aside. A short moment passes before Younghoon hears a crash followed by a yell.
… Hello?
Silence.
Is everything ok?
The silence continues and Younghoon contemplates hanging up and just calling another day. He is about to do so until he hears your voice.
Hi, hi! Sorry if you’ve been waiting long!
Is everything alright? I thought I heard a crash.
Ah, yeah. That was nothing! I had to go retrieve a few files, just to double check some stuff before I send it over! I guess I wasn’t looking when I rounded the corner because I ran smack into someone. It was carelessness on my part, really. I really should look where I’m going.
Oh, are you ok?
Yeah! I’m ok, thank you for asking.
No problem. Was just wondering. It seemed like a pretty nasty crash.
Oh um… Kind of, yeah.
Kind of?
Well… That person was holding a cup of hot coffee and it spilled all over so...
Hot coffee? Did you get scalded?
Um… Yeah, I did.
That must have hurt a lot! You should really apply some ointment on the burn.
I will! Thank you so much for your concern, Younghoon. I’ll send the profiles to you and get to that immediately after?
You can send me the profiles later. I can wait but your hand can’t.
There was a pause before you replied.
Ok.
Anyone could have heard the smile in your voice.
Hello?
Hello, this is y/n from Love-
I know who you are. You don't have to keep reintroducing yourself.
Ah, ok alright. Figures. Sorry, it’s just a habit at this point.
It’s no problem.
Right, I’m just here to check in anyways! Have you decided on which match to call?
Not really.
Why not?!
... Was there a deadline that I’m not aware of?
Oh no, there isn’t. I’m just surprised. It’s been about 3 days since we last talked over the phone about your matches. I just thought you’d have picked someone by now.
It’s not exactly a priority of mine.
There was a pause before he continued.
How’s your hand?
It’s much better! Thank you for asking, I’ve just been applying medical cream to it regularly so right now, it swells a little less.
That’s great to hear then.
Yup.
A short moment of awkward silence ensued.
I hope you don’t mind if I ask you this but... Why did you sign up for the Love Hotline?
Hm? Why do you ask?
Well... You said finding and making a match isn’t a priority of yours so that got me wondering. Most people would have made their decision relatively quickly and taking 3 days to reply is almost unheard of in the office.
... I don’t know. Now that you’ve put it that way, I’ve got no idea why I’ve signed up either.
Not even the slightest clue?
Not really.
A pause.
I think I was just bored.
You gave a snort which you quickly masked with a cough.
I heard that.
Younghoon’s voice was accusatory, almost even a little playful but not aggressive.
I mean, joining because you’re bored? Not going to lie, that’s a first.
Oh nice. For once in my life, I’m first at something. Thanks, y/n.
A melodious laughter rang out from the other end of the line.
How are you still single with humour like that?
I’ll take that as a compliment. Truth be told, I have no clue. If I knew, I wouldn’t be single.
That's true. Oh yeah, you still haven’t told me who you have chosen to call!
Do I have to make a decision now?
Preferably? The faster you do, the faster we can get this match under way.
... I’ll just let you make the decision for me then.
What? Why me?
The incredulity in your voice was clear as day at his words.
Since I can’t make a decision and you need me to choose a match, why don’t you do it for me?
I can’t for the simple fact that my boss will have my neck if it ever got out that I chose for a client.
Well, your boss doesn’t have to know that. It’s going to be between us anyways. If you don’t tell and I don’t tell, who’s going to know?
Well... It’s just weird. I’ve never been asked to do this.
Hm, there’s a first for everything. I trust your decision.
Really?
Yeah, why not?
There was another pause.
Just don’t betray that trust.
You chuckle.
I won’t because I’m not going to choose for you. How hard can it be to just make a decision? These are all great matches!
Precisely because they’re great matches, I can’t choose.
You're impossible.
Thanks.
Younghoon, I’m just doing my job here.
Isn’t your job to accede to your client’s requests?
That was a tone of mischief in his voice.
Oh my god. I don’t even know how you look like but I’m sure you’d look like a proper asshole.
Wow, language. Is that the way you speak to your clients? Can I speak to your manager please?
You laugh and Younghoon smiles.
You are incorrigible.
You’re too cute.
There is a short pause as the two of you registered what he just said. Flustered, he scrambles to say something.
I-I... T-That didn't mean a-anything. I was j-just saying-
That didn't mean anything? I’m hurt.
You giggle and he stops mid-sentence.
What?
I’m just messing with you, I know that didn’t mean anything. I call people cute all the time too, especially my neighbour’s dog.
Right...
So anyways! Pick a match!
No.
Please?
Just pick one for me. Client’s orders.
Fine, I’ll pick a horrible match for you.
I’d call your manager then.
I hate you.
I know.
Ugh, ok fine but this is the first and last time I’m doing this.
I’ll take it.
Great, I’ll talk to you soon then! Keep being annoying, bye.
Sure, I will. See you.
The call ends on a light note and Younghoon stares at his phone. What is this fluttery feeling in his heart?
Hey, y/n.
Oh, you recognise this number now?
Yeah, I have a decent memory for stuff like that.
Nice.
So to what do I deserve this honour of you calling?
Don’t be dramatic. I was just calling to ask about your call date. How was it?
Younghoon grins at your lighthearted reply.
I’m surprised you chose Joy.
Really? If I remembered correctly, you were the one who told me to choose a match for you.
I did but I don’t know why. I’m still surprised.
Maybe you should pick a match yourself next time so you can be a little less surprised? But that’s beside the point! How did the call date go?
It was not bad, actually. She seems pretty cool.
Right? See, I’ve got an ear for perfect matches. I know my matches when I hear them. I’m amazing.
Yeah, yeah. I guess we can expect a call from the Prime Minister any time now.
Stop being sarcastic and just admit that your matchmaker is capable and excellent at her job.
No, shan’t.
You are horrible. I get you a match and I don’t even get my thanks.
Well, fine. Thank you.
That’s better. Good boy.
Don’t call me that, I’m not your dog.
So you’d prefer good man?
At your reply, Younghoon nearly spat out the water he was drinking.
That's so weird!
Exactly.
Call me neither!
Fine, fine. I was just kidding anyways.
There was a distant call from the other end of the line and from the other end, Younghoon could vaguely hear your name being called. He felt his heart sink a little despite himself.
Oops, duty calls. I’d love to talk more but I’ve got a meeting. I’ll catch up more with you some other day?
Sure. Bye.
Bye!
Hey, Younghoon. Wow, this is new. You’re calling me first this time.
Yeah, hey. I just wanted to call to inform you that the match with Joy fell through. I’m going to need a new one.
What?! Why?
You screeched and he had to hold the phone away from his ear.
Geez, don’t screech into the phone.
Sorry, I’m just shocked. Why’s that? Didn’t you say she wasn’t bad?
Yeah, she isn’t bad. Just not my type.
What’s your type then?
The next word was out of his mouth before he could stop himself.
You.
There was a long pause and somehow Younghoon couldn’t bring himself to say the words that bit at the back of his mind. ‘Just kidding’, because subconsciously was he really kidding though?
Quit horsing around.
You laugh awkwardly and he frowns. This wasn’t what he expected.
Y/n...
Stop clowning. I know your antics, you-
Before you could say anything else, someone else called for you in the office.
Oh, I gotta go. I’ll talk to you next time? Also stop being a clown, it doesn’t suit you. See you!
Y/n, I-
Call ended.
“...Meant that,” Younghoon mumbled to himself.
Hello, this is y/n from Love Hotline. How can I help you?
Stop it.
Isn’t that what you always say?
Well, excuse me for following company policy.
I was just teasing you. Why have you called anyways?
What do you think?
My common sense says you’ve called to inquire about my call date with Shuhua.
Your common sense is right. So, how did it go?
It went fine, I guess?
Fine, you guess? What kind of an answer is that?
A perfectly reasonable one. You wanted an answer, I gave you an answer.
This guy...
You groan in frustration and Younghoon had to stifle his urge to laugh. Teasing you was becoming a hobby for him.
C’mon, cut me some slack here.
It went fine. We didn’t really talk about much.
Ok, so what exactly is ‘didn’t really talk about much’? You gotta work with me here, bud.
Well, we got along fine for the most part but as far as chemistry goes, there wasn't really any?
Tell me about it.
We basically talked about our day and ourselves and I think that was about it.
Are you serious?
I don’t get paid for lying to you, y/n. Of course, I’m serious.
That doesn’t sound like much.
That’s what a conversation lacking in chemistry sounds like.
How do you know there’s no chemistry as you say?
Your tone was indignant and internally, Younghoon felt a twinge of disappointment in his heart. Were you so bent on making it work between him and Joy first and now Shuhua?
Why are you so determined to get me and Shuhua to work as a match?
I’m sorry?
There was surprise in your voice.
Well, I mean... It’s my job. I’m a matchmaker, of course I have to make sure my matches match. The faster, the better.
Right.
Yeah, so how do you know there’s no chemistry or no chance between the two of you?
I guess we just didn't have much to say beyond the basics? At one point, it was beginning to feel forced.
Really?
Yeah, no point continuing something that’s forced.
Are you sure it wasn’t just awkward first ‘date’ jitters?
Younghoon couldn’t keep away the frustration in his voice as he replied, feeling weirdly angered for some reasons.
No. It wasn't.
A pause.
Are you alright?
Yeah, I’m fine. Why wouldn’t I be?
You sound like you’re mad at something.
Do I?
Yeah. You do.
Ok, then I guess I am.
You want to tell me what’s going-
I like you.
Another pause.
What?
I said I like you.
You’re kidding.
You start to laugh but it died down as soon as he replied.
I’m not.
But... Why?
It’s just you. I don’t know why but talking to you has always been comfortable. Remember when we talked chemistry? We have that chemistry. It just came out of nowhere.
A-Are you drunk?
Younghoon felt anger course through his veins at your words.
Does it sound like I’m kidding?
...W-We can’t do this.
Why not?
... We just can’t. It’s company policy.
They don’t have to know!
I... I...
Realisation suddenly dawns upon him.
You feel the same, don’t you?
I...
If you feel the same, why do you keep pushing me on call dates?
I couldn’t...
There was desperation in his voice as he cried.
You can, they don’t-
I can’t.
He felt his blood run cold.
Why?
I need this job, Younghoon. I can’t lose this job. If they find out that I’m dating a client, I’m done for. I’ll be fired.
You could-
I can’t look for another job.
I’ll help you look for one.
It doesn’t work that way.
There was tone of sadness in your voice.
This is the only job I’ve found that manages to pay my bills. I can’t lose it. I need this job. This job is something I got because of my mom’s connections and if I lose it, I’ll be disappointing not just my company but also my mom. My mom worked hard to allow me to work here. We were never well off and my mom worked her guts off as a salon assistant assisting the rich. It was through years of work and making connection did she become friends with the owner of Love Hotline who also happens to be my boss now. I can’t embarrass her like this.
Y/n...
What are you doing?
A sharp voice that wasn’t y/n’s interrupted and even though he wasn’t where you were, he knew in his heart that something had gone wrong but before he could say anything, the line went dead.
Call ended.
A week and a half passes without any calls. Younghoon grows more worried by the day. Did something bad happen? Ever since that last call, there wasn’t a single word from you at all until one night. It was approximately 2am at night when the phone rang. Grunting in annoyance at whoever is calling at this time of night, he reached out and answered the call.
Hello, who’s this?
Hey, Younghoon.
At the sound of your voice, he perked up and he was immediately alert even though it was about 2am in the morning.
How’s it going? You haven't called in awhile. And whose number is this?
It’s my personal number.
There was light sniffling and immediately, Younghoon’s happy mood disappeared.
Hey, what’s wrong?
N-Nothing...
I can hear you crying. Tell me what happened.
I... I... Nevermind. It’s stupid. I should never have called you. This is so extremely unprofessional of me, let’s just forget I called you. Bye.
Wait, y/n! Don’t!
Call ended.
The number you’ve dialled is not available at the moment. Please try again later.
Younghoon:
hey y/n, are you ok? i tried calling so many times but you wouldn’t pick up
if you see this, pls reply. i’m worried for you
if you need someone to talk to, call me anytime
pls
don’t just ignore this, i want to help
Y/N:
I’m fine. I just need some time to myself
Younghoon:
ok. i understand. pls don’t hesitate to msg me. know that im here for you.
Y/N:
ok thanks
The number you’ve dialled is not available at the moment. Please try again later.

The day was bright and sunny as the sun bore down relentlessly on the earth. There was a slight summer breeze in the air which Younghoon would have normally loved but this time, it did nothing to uplift his mood. All he could do was stare listlessly at his phone, awaiting a call from a certain someone.
It’s crazy how the last time the both of you spoke was almost 2 weeks ago. To him, 2 weeks was an awfully long time and internally, he missed listening to your voice. There was always something so cheery and enchanting about your voice from the very first call the both of you shared even though he’d never admit it. The worry in him hadn’t dulled in those 2 weeks as he mulled over your whereabouts and wellbeing. The last time you two talked, you had been crying and in a depressive mood. Not being able to do anything killed him on the inside and as he entered a nearby café he frequented, the smell of bread which was usually his favourite scent in the world that would always bring him a sense of comfort did nothing to sooth his nerves.
As Younghoon stood before the cashier, he said absent-mindedly as he reached for his wallet, “I’ll have the cheese toast.”
“Ok, that will be eight fifty.”
Younghoon stiffened. That voice...
“Y/n?”
At your name, your head snapped up and your eyes widened as you made eye contact with the man in front of you. He had chestnut brown hair that fell in soft bangs over his eyes but not in an unkempt way. His dark eyes were large and soulful, seemingly containing whole galaxies in them and his demeanour was gentle yet firm. He was tall as well so you had to slightly crane your neck just to look at him. Although you had never met this man, there was something so deeply familiar about him.
Younghoon could hardly believe his eyes. Here you were, right in front of him and you were every bit as beautiful as he imagined. He felt his heart pounded rapidly against his chest as he stood transfixed. It was awhile before he managed to get a grip and slowly, he said, “We need to talk.”
As the two of you sat down over coffee after your shift, he peered at you with a look of concern on his face.
“What happened?” His voice was soft as you had remembered and immediately, you felt at ease.
“Well, long story short. I got fired.”
His eyes widened.
“From Love Hotline.”
‘B-But... How?”
You took a small sip of your latte. “Remember when I had to hang up abruptly in the office?”
He nodded his head, dread creeping in. Surely...
“That was the day I got fired.”
Younghoon felt his heart fall with a messy splat. This was all his fault.
“I... I can’t tell you how sorry I am, y/n. I-”
You placed a finger on his lips and you had to try your best to ignore the burning feeling on your finger at the feel of his soft lips.
“Don’t. Don’t apologise because it’s not your fault.”
“But I-”
“I think deep down everyone knew that I was falling.”
Younghoon stared at you with a blank look on his face, his eyes shining with an indescribable emotion.
“Falling?”
You smiled to yourself.
“You probably don’t know this but remember when you told me you liked me?”
He looked at you curiously and you continued, “Do you have any idea how happy yet conflicted that made me? I knew I’d lose my job but I knew that I liked you as well. I wanted so desperately to accept your feelings but I couldn't. I feel like my colleagues had already known about my affections towards you given the way I’d talk to you in the office. Someone must have told on me, I guess I was too obvious about it. That night when I called you at 2am, it was possibly the worst night of my life. I had felt so lost and hopeless that I didn’t know what to do. But then, I thought of you and this is so cheesy but... I felt like you were the only one I could turn to although I chickened out before I could say anything... I didn't want to burden you.”
You chuckled sadly and Younghoon reached out to grasp your hands in his. The feeling of his large hands on you was so heartwarming that you felt like you could cry.
Drawing in a deep breath, you said, “I get it if you don’t want me anymore because of how long I had ig-”
“Don’t say another word.” Younghoon breathed.
He reached his hand over to cup your face and caressed you as the both of you stared deep into each other’s eyes. To think that such a deep bond can be forged between the two of you over a series of phone calls felt almost surreal. If you had told him even 6 months ago that he’d meet you, the love of his life over something as tacky as Love Hotline, he wouldn’t have believed you but as he brought your face closer to his, he knew that there was nothing he’d trade in the world for you when his lips came into contact with yours.
“You’ll never be a burden to me,” he whispered. “You are everything that I always wanted and everything I never knew I needed.”

FIC WRITER QUESTIONS
Thank you to the lovely @allwaswell16 @runaway-train-works @so-why-let-your-voice-be-tamed @uhoh-but-yeah-alright and @evilovesyou for tagging me to answer some questions about my writing.
1) How many works do you have on AO3?
47
2) What’s your total AO3 word count?
901,445 (Hoping to hit the Magic Million by the end of the year!)
3) How many fandoms have you written for and what are they?
1 (One Direction)
4) What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
When Tomorrow Comes 1155
The Baby Whisperer 950
Love, Ever After 898
Harry Poppins 856
Play Me A Memory 760
More under the cut…
5) What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?
Oh gosh. Uhm. I don’t really write angsty endings? All my fics have Happy Endings and most have epilogues to round them out and tie them up in a bow. Perhaps I’d say If You’re Out There (I’ll Find You Somehow) purely because (spoiler ahead) the epilogue is written 100 years into the future so they’ve both passed.
6) What’s the fic you’ve written with the happiest ending?
Interestingly, I would actually say the answer is the same as above, If You’re Out There (I’ll Find You Somehow). The epilogue is so uplifting and I cry happy tears every time I re-read it. It’s written from the POV of their granddaughter and you get to see the world they had a hand in changing for the better through her eyes, so you get a sense of how impactful their lives were on the rest of society. Oof, tearing up right now just thinking about it.
7) Do you write crossovers? If so what is the craziest one you’ve written?
Yeah, I have actually. I really enjoy doing new takes on an existing universes, although they aren’t always the easiest thing to pull off tbh. I’m not sure which I would say is the craziest, but the hardest to write was definitely The Peter Pan/Hook AU.
Harry Poppins - Loosely based on the book/movie Mary Poppins, but without any magical aspects.
Playing To Win - Set in the Big Brother house.
The Pirate and The Piper - A Peter Pan/Hook AU which I took a lot of liberties with.
In The Still Of The Night - My Dirty Dancing AU.
A Hungry Heart - This is a Great British Bake Off AU that is due out in September for the Cliche Fic Fest!
8) Do you write smut? If so what kind?
Whoa Nelly. Yeah, I do. All the time. Every fic actually. There’s only one, Exposed, the only fic I’ve published that’s not rated Explicit and doesn’t have smut. But, to be fair, the challenge was to write exactly 666 words and I still managed to get the implication in there. Plus, Louis was naked and Harry was applying body paint for the majority of the story, so like, I think I can get a free pass on that one - I tried!
In terms of what type of smut, I guess it varies depending on the story. I tend not to push the boat out too far, but I do dabble in BDSM in quite a few of my fics. A recurring theme in the comments I receive is that my smut scenes are well constructed and detailed, without being too tedious or drawn out, which is lovely feedback to get because they can be challenging to write.
9) Do you respond to comments, why or why not?
Absolutely. Every single one.
10) Have you ever received hate on a fic?
Not often, people are usually so kind, but there have been a couple.
11) Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not that I’m aware of!
12) Have you ever had a fic translated?
Yeah, quite a lot, particularly on Wattpad, all with my full consent. That said, I’m thinking of stopping this because it’s getting a bit out of hand and I’ve been feeling uncomfortable about it recently for various reasons that I won’t bore you with here.
13) Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Nope! I don’t think it’s really my thing tbh. I get very in my head about writing and struggle even to brainstorm or share too much until I’m well into a story.
14) What’s your all time favorite ship?
Of the 47 fics I’ve written, there are 45 Larry, 1 Narry, and 1 Louis/Dermot O’Leary (I think mine is still the only fic with this ship hahahaa), so that’s probably a good indication of my fave writing ship.
15) What’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?
I have one lonely WIP sitting on AO3 from 2018. I keep promising myself I’ll finish it and it’s on my schedule every year, then I get distracted by other fics/fests and it gets pushed back. Plus, it needs a complete rewrite because my style has developed so much since I started it, so it’ll be a big job. Based on that, I think that the fic, in its current form, won’t ever be finished as the rewrite will completely wipe out what it was, although the underlying plot will still be there.
16) What are your writing strengths?
World building (or so I’m often told). I write very visually and people often say they can imagine the scene exactly, or that it’s like a movie, or that they think it’s actually a real place I’m describing, when most of the time it absolutely isn’t, it’s just something I’ve created in my weird brain.
17) What are your writing weaknesses?
Dialogue (although my lovely beta disagrees) and telling rather than showing. They’re both things I’m actively working on.
18) What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?
I’ve never really considered it. It’s not something I’d shy away from necessarily, but it’s just never come up.
19) What was the first fandom you wrote for?
One Direction. First and only.
20) What’s your favorite fic you’ve written?
Wow. This is really tough because it changes over time. I find that once I’ve finished a fic I don’t want to revisit it for a few months because I’m kind of over it. But I find comfort in them after a while, like I get to go back to that happy place and immerse myself in that world and the characters again, similar to catching up with an old friend. It’s familiar. I think I also like different stories for different reasons and I’m drawn to various ones depending on my mood. My top 3 (although, ask me next week and the list will probably be completely different!) would probably be:
1. If You’re Out There (I’ll Find You Somehow). Written for the hybrid fic fest (a fest I created just for this fic lol). It’s not everyone’s cup of tea due to the hybrid aspect, but it’s one of the stories I feel is the most rounded from a character development perspective and the world building was pretty epic, if I can be so bold as to throw that out there myself!
2. No Going Back. One of my Big Bangs from 2020. I adore the way their relationship develops in this fic and the setting (as remote lighthouse keepers) was such a lot of fun to write. Plus I got to collaborate with an amazing artist who created an entire website as an accompanying travel blog which was truly wonderful.
3. From The Heart. This is a series I wrote for wordplay back in 2019. I had no idea that what I was doing was so unusual and so meta by having Louis essentially write for the equivalent of wordplay in the fic. It was such an fun way to share my writing process and challenges I encounter (exactly how many synonyms tabs do I have open at any one time?!) and I thoroughly enjoyed the outcome (although getting there was definitely a struggle).
~
This was really fun and thanks to anyone who made it this far! Writing brings me so much joy and is a wonderful outlet for all the imaginings in my head, so I appreciate everyone who supports me and joins me on that journey.
~
I’m pretty late with this and I’m not sure who has already done it but I’ll tag @fallinglikethis @homosociallyyours @lululawrence @reminiscingintherain and @beau-soleil-louis if they’d like to do this and haven’t already.

It’s the first day of 2021, which calls (yet again!) for my ten favorite new-to-me movies I watched in 2020!
The rules are the same as always: no movies from this past year (2020) or the year before (2019). Every other year is free game.
All ten of these movies are fascinating and beautiful and well worth your time, so consider this a strong endorsement for all of them. I’ve also included ways to watch all of the films (as of this writing, Jan. 1, 2021).
01. Two for the Road (dir. Stanley Donen, 1967; USA) Donen takes the ideas of romantic cinema and celebrates it while injecting a healthy dose of painful reality. He chooses two of the English language's most attractive movie stars, Albert Finney (in full himbo mode!) and Audrey Hepburn, and follows their ten-year marriage as seen on their various road trips across Europe. It's a memory piece more than anything else, but the arc of their relationship is clear and their palpable connection burns through the screen. These are two beautiful, intelligent adults who love each other deeply, who are still physically attracted to each other, who are able to hurl verbal jabs and insults at each other with the best of them. Finney is magnificent, but Hepburn sort of steals the show. In what is probably her finest onscreen performance, she gets to grow from a virginal bride to a fully fleshed out adult, living beautifully in different shades of sexy and goofy and bitter. They make a screen couple for the ages. The script is funny without losing its honesty, it's tragic without leaning too far into artifice, it's romantic without being treacly. It's a remarkable balancing act and makes for a masterpiece. (Two for the Road is available to rent online or viewed at this link.)
02. Stop Making Sense (dir. Jonathan Demme, 1984; USA) Stop Making Sense feels like a miracle. It hints at a narrative arc, but that part is unimportant. It’s a live performance recorded and packaged specifically for consumption as a film. In its brief runtime, it becomes a living, breathing, sweating testament to David Byrne’s skill as a performer, as a songwriter, as a storyteller, and to the remarkable talents of everyone in Talking Heads. It’s a breathtakingly joyous experience. I can’t remember the last time I watched a recording of a live performance that captured the same brand of energy, of buoyancy, that you feel as you’re leaving a great communal experience. This is a masterpiece that proclaims as loudly as possible that there is no joy greater than making art with people you love. (Stop Making Sense is currently streaming on Amazon Prime.)
03. Scattered Clouds (dir. Mikio Naruse, 1967; Japan) Filled to the brim with unspoken turmoil and emotional devastation, Naruse's final film chronicles the rough terrain of a relationship between a widow and the man responsible for her husband's death. Spanning years and exploring just how deeply these wounds can go, much of the Scattered Cloud’s success rests on the performances from Yuzo Kayama and Yoko Tsukasa. Kayama is a handsome, likable screen presence who beautifully lives in his own cloud of grief. Tsukasa gets a bit more to chew on, as this really is her story: her arc and her inability to move forward, despite the best intentions, is one of the film's most lasting ideas. Brutally sad but incredibly beautiful. The work of a master filmmaker. (Scattered Clouds is currently streaming on the Criterion Channel.)
04. L’Atalante (dir. Jean Vigo, 1934; France) My only regret with L’Atalante is that I didn’t see it sooner. The final (and only feature-length) film from Jean Vigo before his untimely death at 29, this film is a technical marvel and a humanist miracle. Featuring spirited performances from Dita Parlo, Jean Dasté, and the great character actor Michel Simon, and intoxicating dreamlike imagery, as well as a relentlessly romantic score from Maurice Jaubert, this film looks and feels like no other film from its era. (L’Atalante is currently streaming on the Criterion Channel.)
05. Daisies (dir. Věra Chytilová, 1966; Czechoslovakia) Věra Chytilová's iconic masterpiece of anarchic cinema more than lives up to its reputation. Operating on its own chaotic wavelength, Daisies follows the exploits of Marie I (Jitka Cerhová) and Marie II (Ivana Karbanová) who seek to spoil themselves after realizing how spoiled the world is. They begin to live extravagantly and rip off older men and cause general mischief. Over less than 80 minutes, Daisies upends a whole slew of cultural norms. Beautiful, ambiguous, funny, cynical, and truly visionary. (Daisies is currently streaming on the Criterion Channel and HBO Max.)
06. The Hero (dir. Satyajit Ray, 1966; India) The Hero sort of feels like Satyajit Ray's answer to 8½ in its meditation of fame and regret. Uttam Kumar is fantastic as Arindam Mukherjee, a superstar actor who works through his career and his loss of values in an interview with a reporter played by Sharmila Tagore, who is also fantastic. Under Ray's sleek direction, gracefully opening up the world of the train, and with his intelligent and human script, the cast uniformly sinks their teeth into this film. Kumar is the MVP out of necessity -- without him, the whole film would fall apart -- but the whole ensemble is remarkable, peppering the background of the train scenes and in Arindam's flashbacks. This also has one of the all-time great nightmare sequences. Easily one of the master director’s best films. (The Hero is currently streaming on the Criterion Channel.)
07. Malcolm X (dir. Spike Lee, 1992; USA) Malcolm X is a truly massive film housing an even bigger performance from the great Denzel Washington. Tracing Malcolm X’s life and career while juggling numerous tones and visual styles and spanning across decades and continents, this is surely Spike Lee’s most ambitious film up to this point in his career. Washington is onscreen for virtually all of its long runtime, from the early exuberant days before his imprisonment all the way up to that fateful day in the Audubon Ballroom, and he is, of course, tremendous. All that classic Denzel charisma and magnetism is on full display, whether in his impassioned speeches or in his more intimate scenes. Lee’s direction is top notch, making this full story about a life with an incalculably profound impact feel richly and deeply intimate. This is one of the essential American epics. (Malcolm X is available to rent online.)
08. Beau Travail (dir. Claire Denis, 1999; France) Beau Travail’s place in the modern canon of world cinema is assured, and Denis is rightfully seen as a master, but it really can’t be overstated just how much of a gem this film is. Pepper with sparse dialogue (though always packed with meaning), the film lives in one of two modes: muscular, suntanned men doing slow, precise choreographed exercises in the heat of the day and those same muscular men dancing and gyrating with attractive young women in some ethereal nightclub. Between these poles lies Denis’ almost cosmic meditation on masculine ego, homoerotic obsession, and regret. A fascinating, enigmatic, devastating beauty. (Beau Travail is currently streaming on the Criterion Channel.)
09. Only Angels Have Wings (dir. Howard Hawks, 1939; USA) Only Angels Have Wings might be Howard Hawks' crowning directorial achievement. The aerial work, the rainy nights, the beautiful atmosphere of the bars, the palpable camaraderie of the characters, the tragic loss of life and yet the persistence to move forward. Cary Grant leads a terrific cast, including a quietly moving Richard Barthelmess and a rarely-more-likable Thomas Mitchell, and his chemistry with both Jean Arthur (the most charming) and Rita Hayworth is a joy to watch. This film seems to dabble in multiple genres at once, subverting the cliches of the Hollywood formula while still embracing the melodrama and the artifice within. In that way, the film feels very strange, but if the viewer lets themselves be carried along with Hawks' unique rhythm, the reward is one of the most fascinating and exciting films in Hollywood's fabled 1939 output. (Only Angels Have Wings is available to rent online or viewed at this link.)
10. Closely Watched Trains (dir. Jiří Menzel, 1966; Czechoslovakia) Between the precise composition of the shots and the young narrator-protagonist, Closely Watched Trains feels like a spiritual predecessor to Wes Anderson's work. This comparison extends to the thematic content of the film as well, as the story of a young man coming-of-age against the backdrop of the Nazi regime is definitely cut from the same cloth as The Grand Budapest Hotel. Lucky for me, I love Anderson's work, and Grand Budapest is my favorite of his, so Menzel's stylistic flourishes immediately endeared me to the film.Menzel maintains a skillful tonal balancing act throughout Closely Watched Trains. Even under the wry, almost self-deprecating humor, the film never loses track of preciousness of life and the horrific tragedy of war. Beautiful cinematography, strong performances across the board, a memorable score, and a clever script make this a gem of the Czech New Wave and a moving, delightful, and accessible coming-of-age tale. (Closely Watched Trains is currently streaming on the Criterion Channel.)

Soft!Boyfriend Wooyoung Things
* Seonghwa * Hongjoong * Yunho * Yeosang * San * Mingi * Jongho *
— Catching your gaze as you lean forward in laughter, Wooyoung smiles warmly as he watches you react to a dumb joke someone had made. He loves it when you go with him to hang out with his friends; it brings him a warm thrill to have his favorite people enjoying each other's company. And he wouldn't trade these happy feelings blossoming in his chest for the world. All he can feel is delight as he feels as you lean into him, your body shaking with giggles, or fondness as he feels your fingers find his from under the table.
— Fascinated by you and always trying to get you to talk about anything and everything with him, Wooyoung asks you about your makeup one day. And, as you had just found a new eyeshadow palette you really liked, you happily obliged. After a long monologue, you give him a sheepish apology, mumbling how he must find this dull. In response, he gives you the brightest, fondest smile. "But I am interested in this! And I'm always interested in you. Although, if I had to pick, I'm much more interested in you than makeup." (You swear every single thing about his next move is calculated, with the way he bites his bottom lip and his gaze slips to your lips.) "But can't I have both right now?"
— You've established many habits together, but this one is one that you hold especially dear in your heart. After busy days, you'll both lay on the couch and hold onto each other... You twine your legs and fingers and life together in this time, as you spill anything and everything. You kick him when he's just a little too sassy about the workplace drama stressing you out. He pokes you if you ever get insecure about the differences between your lives outside of each other. And you kiss each other, affectionate and tender, if the day was a few hours too long for either of you.
Deciding it's time to dabble in keeping another being alive besides yourselves, Wooyoung convinces you to become plant parents. He's like a kid getting their first puppy, he's so excited about it, researching the best pots and locations and soils. When the time comes and you bring a potted baby home, he kisses you so passionately you have to remind him: "Not in front of the baby!"
— (Don't tell anyone, but Wooyoung cares much more about taking care of something with you than having a plant. The domesticity of it makes his heart flutter.)
— "I love you," you end up telling him. He gives you a soft, sentimental smile in response before he twines your fingers together and lifts your connected hands like victors.
— "We'll be amazing parents, Y/N; we got this!"
— One day, Wooyoung rushes home with a terrifyingly huge grin on his face. It takes you ten minutes to get his dolphin screeching to resemble something like human language.
— "I GOT US THE BTS TICKETS!!!"
— At the concert, you have the time of your lives, screaming fanchants together and even doing some of the dances with each other. Your excitement and joy are as precious as shooting stars in this moment, and the evening is all laughter and shouting and bright, bright grins.
— But when the euphoric Best of Me begins, you grab onto Wooyoung's hand, suddenly sentimental. He looks at you instantly, worried something is wrong, but relaxes as he sees you smiling at him warmly. The stage is forgotten as you look into each other's eyes as urgently as the first time you kissed, the time you told him "of course I'll be your girlfriend," the time he promised you he was "in this for forever."
— You whisper the lyrics to each other, "you got the best of me," hearts souring and lips lifted into soft, sincere smiles.
— A/N: I hope you enjoyed this! Thank you so much for reading! Any reblogs or feedback are always appreciated, but all I hope for this is to make readers feel good/happier. So if you did, I am very glad and thankful to you for making that happen, so to speak <3 Stay safe, and have a lovely day!

Speak No Evil (Part 21)
Mai stands in their palace yet she refuses to meet either of their eyes. Mostly she resists looking at Zuko. And somehow this infuriates Azula more than anything else. She had no trouble locking eyes with her when she was shoving her tongue down TyLee’s throat. Likely she had no trouble boasting about it to Zuko.
“Hello!” Seicho greets, “my name is Seicho and this is Zhang-Zin, my brother.”
“I didn’t realize that you’d be bringing friends home, Zuko.” Mai remarks stiffly, as though Seicho’s very presence is an affront. Granted, Azula hasn’t much room to talk given her first thoughts about the woman.
“They’re Azula’s friends.” Zuko replies. “They’re nice people.”
“Right, because Azula always keeps such pleasant company.”
Azula is very much inclined to agree with her.
“I never said that I was a good person.” Mai speaks up before Azula can jot anything down on her parchment. She wonders if that is Mai’s way of expressing guilt. The woman is nearly as dreadful with such as Azula herself.
‘Why is she still here?’ Azula scribbles onto the parchment.
“I’m trying to talk things out with her.” He replies.
Azula isn’t sure if she shares the desire. ‘Where is TyLee?’
Mai shrugs. “She’s been...different lately.”
Azula swallows, likely she has gone and made a complete and unsalvageable mess of things. Likely, TyLee doesn’t want to talk to her even in a simpler, less romantic way. Mai certainly doesn’t.
She suspects that Seicho senses her discomfort as the woman inches closer and puts a hand upon her shoulder. This time Azula doesn’t shake it off.
“I think that all of us have been different lately.” Zuko agrees.
Azula is inclined to express that they are different in any good way. Mostly they have all collectively taken several steps back. A steady regression from any progress that they might have made. A pang comes over her at the realization that, at least at some point, for some period of time, she had bettered herself. If only she hadn’t gone and ruined it.
Zhang-Zin rubs his head. “Are things alway so tense here?”
“Yes.” They all answer at once. At least they can agree on one thing.
Zuko laughs, “we’re a sad bunch aren’t we?”
“The most miserable.” Mai sighs.
Azula would have laughed if she could. She isn’t quite sure how to express as much on the parchment without sounding sarcastic. She swallows, even the most basic expressions of joy have been lost to her.
“You know what you guys need?” Seicho asks.
‘Help?’ Azula jots down.
This draws another laugh from Zuko. She hadn’t expected it to lift her spirits any. But it does; it is such a subtle reminder but a reminder no less. She has managed to cling onto at least some forward progress. However rocky it can be; they don’t hate each other anymore.
“A big box of assorted mochi and lunch in a garden.” Seicho declares.
‘You’re just looking for an excuse to visit the palace gardens.’
“That too.” She shrugs.
“Aren’t we supposed to be preparing for our hike?” Zhang-Zin speaks.
Seicho elbows him in the stomach as Azula nods affirmatively. “You...the both of you need to lighten up, we have all the time in the world. We just got off of a cramped boat, we can relax--with a box of mochi in the garden--for a little while.”
Azula points to her throat.
“We have a ton of parchment to hold you over.”
Azula folds her arms over her chest.
“You especially can use a big box of mochi and a flower crown.” Her eyes shine with a devious glint. “And you don’t have to worry about the flowers pinching you as you try to collect them.” She grins.
Azula’s cheeks flush and decides once and for all that Seicho is a little shit.
“What is she talking about?” Mai asks.
“They made shell jewelry together and Azula tried to steal from a turtle-crab.”
“Since turtle-crabs live in shells would that be considered theft or a home invasion?”
Azula fixes Seicho with her best deadpan stare.
.oOo.
Things are different day to day. She dabbles in a little bit of this and a little bit of that. Some activities she likes less than others--fishing and bird watching to name two. She also doesn’t care for watching earthbending ball.
Fishing requires too much sitting still and a whole lot of nothing in particular. Bird watching is a little more engaging but she finds that she is much too excitable and fellow watchers aren’t particularly thrilled when her bouncing up and declaring, ‘oh look at that one!’ causes said birds to take flight. And earthbending ball, like kuai ball isn’t fun unless she is part taking.
But she adores yoga, climbing, dancing, and occasionally a good game of hide and explode with a pack of wild children. Tonight’s activity is a poetry reading. She thinks that this is the perfect way to give Tuya a taste of Fire Nation culture; they sit on tatami mats with small bowls of rice and miso soup.
Not only will she get to listen to the language of the Fire Nation and get a feel for their aesthetics but she will also get to try out some traditional dishes. If they are lucky, this event will have music between readings.
“Are you going to read a poem?” Tuya asks.
“I’m not sure yet.” She thinks that she might want to, she has a few verses in mind about what it is like to be inside a glacier for the first time. She nuzzles herself close to Tuya who offers her a helping of rice.
It is a good day. A warm day. A kind day.
.oOo.
Six. Seicho can fit six mochi balls into her mouth at once. Azula hadn’t realized that watching someone eat mochi could leave her feeling so stressed. And Zhang-Zin...that man was able to cram seven.
“Fire of Agni!” Mai exclaims, it is the most passion that Azula ha heard from her in a while. “And I thought that you were a mochi demon.”
Azula jabs a thumb against her own chest.
“Yeah you. Remember when you ate three of them at once?”
At first she thinks that Mai is talking about their sleepover and then she recalls a moment when Zuko had proclaimed that he could eat more mochi than she. She nods, she isn’t sure if she should be prideful or concerned in retrospect.
Seicho finishes swallowing the mochi. Azula is thankful that the woman hasn’t choked. She plucks a firelily from a nearby bush and tucks it behind Azula’s ear. She ruffles her hair, “perfect.”
Azula staches her invasive hand with a frown. Seicho remains unperturbed. Not only unperturbed, but thrilled to have Azula holding her hand. She doesn’t let Azula drop it and the princess isn’t sure that she wants to anyways.
“So what do you do, Zhang-Zin?” Zuko asks.
“Most of the time I either ferry people back and forth from Ember Island to the mainland. But when I have a day off Seicho and I usually go exploring together. One day we’re going to cover the entirety of Ember Island.”
‘Sounds horrible.’ But she can’t help but want to tag along. She looks at her ankles, the swelling has since passed and she isn’t sure that she is ready for round two.
“It’s actually a lot of fun if you have good company.” Seicho gives Azula’s hand a pointed squeeze and her tummy flutters slightly. “And comfy shoes.”
“Maybe if this next hike goes well, we can try to trek around Ember Island.” Zuko suggests.
“What hike?” Mai asks.
“We’re going to try to help Azula get her voice back.”
“Oh.”
Azula fidgets with the grass beside her. She takes a sip of tea as she works up the willpower to ask, ‘do you want to come?’
Mai stares at the parchment as though it is some mysterious and mystifying tome. Likely, Mai hadn’t anticipated receiving an invite. And to be fair, Azula hadn’t anticipated inviting her.
Zuko smiles. “I think that it would be great for you to come along. We’ll have some time to talk about things. I think that we could all use that.”
“Azula especially could use the ability to talk.” Seicho remarks. With one small pout, Seicho is cupping her cheek. “Which is why we’re going to get her voice back.” She slings her arm over Azula’s shoulder. There is something strangely reassuring in her confidence.
Mai inhales deeply, “fine, I’ll go, but I’m not liable if I murder one of you in your sleep.”
“I’m willing to take that risk.” Zuko replies, “we haven’t murdered each other yet.”
‘It isn’t for lack of trying’. Azula shrugs.
“No kidding.” Mai rolls her eyes.
“What did you get me into?” Zhang-Zin asks Seicho as she declares, “this group is always so cheerful.” She pops another ball of mochi into her mouth and makes herself comfortable propped up against Azula.
Azula’s tummy gives another flutter. It has been so long since someone has snuggled up next to her. She missed the feeling. Hesitantly, she puts her arm around Seicho.

ok so like. here’s my harry potter house thing. i’m ngl i tried to do this but then i deleted it bc it was getting too long and i didn’t have the attention span but. it kept sticking in my brain so i decided to pick it back up and as such, i’ve lost the original post but it was a quarantine activity (sort drivers into houses, assign quidditch positions, explain) posted by @verstappened. houses done first, then positions, then explanations for both. i tried to make feasible teams, i.e making sure there arent too many of a single position per house, so this really screwed some of the sorting but oh well.
i did the houses first, then positions, then explanations in that order for the most part.
5/13/20: the sorting was mostly done before i heard all the differing opinions (of which there were many!)
5/19/20: alright so this is literally like 2 months old but i’ve just finished it lolol
Lewis Hamilton:
Slytherin: THE GLORY MAN. the aloof kind of superiority, confidence, is top dog, he’s simply the pinnacle of it all. kind of lethal and doesn’t do the whole ‘looking up to others’ things (outwardly, but he seems very soft on the inside tbh). very majestic and is almost a gryffindor, the kind of slytherin that Merlin is. hard-working, got here from incredibly humble beginnings, which kind of stands out from the rest, but he’s clearly now at the top level of society. still very protective of Others. scarily ambitious. Was originally a gryffindor but I wanted the brits to be in different houses for their quidditch positions to work. Could honestly go either way though.
Seeker: more glory. periodt. he stays winning and scoring the most points. clutch-man. Speedy boy, kind of in a different world than everyone else when competing (he’s always at the front lifetimes away from everyone else lmao. playing a diff game.)
Valtteri Bottas:
Hufflepuff: HE SEEMS. LIKE. A. BIG. CHILD. always relegated and brushed off but is literally God-Tier and no one can convince me otherwise. i consider him to be rather reliable (reflecting only the 2019 season at least lmao). a bit of a vindictive streak bc he knows what he’s Capable Of even when others underestimate him. has a very bright smile.
Beater: have u seen him. he’s a big boy even though he’s 5′8 and only an inch taller than lando norris he seems bigger than he is ok
Charles Leclerc:
Slytherin: this bitch. what a snake. hiss hiss.
Chaser: he wants what lewis hamilton has but chose the wrong position. still a star in his own right. pride and joy of his house, will be at the lead of every formation play unless told otherwise by his head of house, to which he will brood and complain ab but comply in the end bc he wants Team Success and loyalty to his Family. scores the most points on the team and people act like he carries even though he literally has a partner(s).
ok but fr my gut said charles is a slytherin (do i really need to explain why? very critical, doesn’t accept inferiority, somehow succeeds. just a feeling his brain seems to fit motorsport politics well), but i was seriously contemplating whether he’d be a gryffindor to max’s slytherin instead. but then i saw someone mention the whole lion schtick and i was like for all of max’s brattiness he is Gryffindor so sharl is snake. sorry don’t make the rules just follow them.
further edit: this was written before he started streaming (this is how old this draft is) and can u believe him he’s the epitome of the “not all slytherins r evil wenches” idea
Sebastian Vettel:
Ravenclaw: idk for all of Seb’s goofiness he just seems cerebral to me. Seems to know mildly irrelevant facts and is really quite smart however is hopeless in the modern age. Kind of that wise old(er he’s not that old) man knowledge. I’d trust him to give me all the life advice I need but also to write a 10 page essay on the nuances of the effect of emotion on verbal language (which we all know he is very experienced with).
Keeper: it’s the protective Dad Power.
Max Verstappen:
Gryffindor: WAS REALLY GONNA PUT HIM IN SLYTHERIN BC HE’S A NASTY LIL SHIT. TOTAL BRAT. GIVES FUCK ALL WHAT OTHERS SAY. BUT HE IS LION AND LION IS HE SO GRYFFINDOR IT IS. also just bc he needs to oppose sharl in every way possible it’s called Poetic Cinema. also his driving style is clearly the bravery and confidence to the point of recklessness that is prevalent among gryffindors.
Chaser: again, he must oppose Charles. so, not a seeker although he’s clearly singularly the most prized competitor. just like Charles, pride and joy of house, their star chaser. the comparisons never end. the competition never ends. the fighting never ends. one of the most interesting and dynamic performers to watch, is predictable in that he’s not predictable except that he will always be aggro to the max. will always be in trouble for getting rough bc that’s Not His Job but that’s just the gryffindor disregard for rules. master point scorer.
Alex Albon:
Gryffindor: was really a toss up btwn this and Hufflepuff but the ultimate deciding factor was the fact that I wanted all the British Boys to be seekers. he really just sticks it out as max’s teammate like a real one (nothing against max, everything against Helmet Merco) for the good of the team, still is sweet with max anyway. fitting that they’re in the same house too.
Seeker: he’s not the small boy that lando and lewis are but he is (thai/)British. very special boy (big ups on the promotion even tho it was Sad Times for Pear) deserves very special job. also he has a hot girlfriend (alex albon who i only know lily he’s boy toy) idk how that’s relevant but it seems fitting.
Carlos Sainz:
Ravenclaw: bc he’s a spaniard but is still better at english than Lando (i think everyone is tbh). Seems to be a quiet type of smart, sensible, but perhaps this is just the consequence of being compared to Lanno at all times LMAO (no hate all love bby Lannd). would be the type of ravenclaw to follow his friends on absolutely idiotic ventures but would step in to prevent near death or likely-legal-problem causing actions (and only then; otherwise it’s every man for themselves and everyone is free to make a fool of themselves and break some laws. carlos may dabble in such practices.)
Chaser: seems to be a go-getter, not going for points doesn’t even cross his mind. will always be the one driving up the pitch, the strategist of sorts bc he seems big(ger) brain (than lando lololol).
Edit: I wrote this part ab him long ago but this entire section of this post is now irrelevant and canceled.
Lando Norris:
Hufflepuff: you all know why. zero explanation needed. like, none.
also has a bit of an aggressive streak which tends to catch ppl off guard. is not afraid to confront u (hello pageNO) and at times defies the hufflepuff stereotype of being perpetually happy go-lucky (he has his bad days!). but when with His True Crew he is absolutely a hufflepuff ball of energy.
Seeker: small and speedy. energetic to the max. small. quirky and different from the rest, so he gets the special job. small. everyone would kill to protect him. small.
Daniel Ricciardo:
Gryffindor: AW I DIDN’T EVEN REALIZE THAT I PUT HIM AND MAX TOGETHER. LOOK I EVEN MADE THEM BOTH CHASERS. AH HOW BIGBRAIN MY MIND IS. everything ab dan is gold. golden skin, the colors in redbull and renault, his smile, just the vibes. he’s just got the enthusiasm and charisma and this intensity of a gryffindor. super aggressive, his late breaking (from his rbr at least) is legendary and maddening with how he pulls it off. is almost a hufflepuff but the gut said no.
Chaser: is Max’s teammate. so yeah. was obviously the star until younger max came to the show. a bit lost in limbo bc of it but they still work well together.
literally want to make him a hufflepuff so. bad. but i couldn’t split up maxiel. also his vibe is just different from other ‘puffs like stroll so.
Esteban Ocon:
Slytherin: ask max.
Chaser: being characterized off of their relationship with max seems to be a theme here. will go head to head with max w/ absolutely zero shits given. talented, but the rivalry with max is entirely secondary to charles imho. still yet to show his full potential but is still quietly a thorn in max’s side. many are interested to see what he is able to do in the immediate future.
Pierre Gasly:
Hufflepuff: GUYS HE WANTS TO OWN A PANDA
Chaser: constantly trying to prove himself and score big boy points. had a stint as seeker until lando came along. did not do as well as ppl had hoped, returned to chaser and proceeded to crush it from there. praticed a lot with charles as children (the friendship dynamic w/ their houses was definitely unforseen but is amazing).
Daniil Kvyat:
Hufflepuff: really wanted to make him a slytherin but the quidditch positions didn’t work out. firmly believe this works though. more of the rough and tumble type, definitely the kind that will sock u in the nose if u write off hufflepuffs as a joke. could honestly probably be a gryffindor too with how unapologetically aggressive he can be in the name of His Beliefs. gives me big dumb himbo vibes now that i think ab it tbh which is mostly the justification here. also he has a child omg.
Chaser: but the one that’s always headbutting bludgers out of the air (torpedo bitches). also had a stint as seeker before but it Was Not His Thing. he’d much rather be chasing and throwing things than seeking things. also he’s pierre’s mate :,) would’ve been a beater but romain and valtteri will not be anything else so daniil took the boot whoops.
Sergio Perez:
Slytherin: it’s just the vibe. knows his weaknesses and is able to make up for it with his confidence and talent in his strengths. very ambitious, plays the right cards at the right times to get the right results. something ab him puts me on edge, but like in a good way; i feel like there’s always a trump card up his sleeve, like when he gets to q3 out of fucking nowhere in a racing point.
Keeper: he gives me the same vibes as seb idk what it is. very dependable, backbone of his team.
Lance Stroll:
Hufflepuff: guys have u seen the guy. he’s just here to have a good time. may seem a bit airheaded at times but he means well 99% of the time. untapped potential. seems like a no thoughts head empty canadian hockey boy (and every one of these types is a hufflepuff don’t fight it); may or may not be the only accurate description of him.
Chaser: he’s just trying his best out here. i
KEEPER?: SO I DID A QUICK GOOGLE AND HE USED TO BE A HOCKEY
GOALIE?????
so scratch my initial thoughts (tbh i didn’t really know where to put him and i originally had romain as keeper but that’s an issue to fix later on now) BECAUSE LANCE STROLL IS A keeper GOALIE AND NO ONE CAN REFUTE THIS. ABSOLUTELY NO HUMAN OF THIS EARTH. WHAT GLORIOUS INFORMATION TO STUMBLE ACROSS.
Kimi Raikkonen:
Slytherin: guys i really don’t have an in depth analysis of this but i don’t think iceman needs one.
Beater: see above^. y’all must get the vibe.
tbh could also be a keeper tho similar energies to seb and checo, but honestly his no fucks given attitude is ultimately what swayed me
Antonio Giovinazzi:
Gryffindor: he just has that majestic quality (that could also fit a slytherin but i only see red when i see antonio). look at that lion’s mane. also he’s one of kimi’s to paddock friends? seems fitting that he’s a gryffindor to kimi’s slytherin.
Chaser: plays second fiddle to the duo that is max and daniel, often regulated to vibing on the side. but he’s there and he’s important and he has potential (i’ve been seeing ppl talking ab a ferrari move and i’m positively shaken). [edit: again, this post is old.]
im sorry its glaringly obvious idk much about him asdfjasldkd
Kevin Magnussen:
Slytherin: guys lots of these are just self explanatory sorry if i seem like im taking the cheap way out but it’s fact. brundle and crofty call him a great white shark for crying out loud.
Beater: unapologetically chaotic. lurking around the edges making people feel hunted. spends more time playing baseball in the middle of the matches than quidditch and sometimes it backfires but it’s good fun and it sometimes works.
Romain Grosjean:
Hufflepuff: y’all he’s such dad energy and he likes to cook. gets written off a lot but he actually cares (he’s a part of the grand prix drivers assoc.!). he seems so wholesome and he spends time with his kids and their school work when he can do u feel those water drops yeah those r my tears.
Beater: i really wanted to make him a slytherin beater to make him teammates with k-mag but he’s just. not a slytherin. but i kept the beater part. spends the majority of the hufflepuff v. slytherin matches sending bludgers kevin’s way even when he doesn’t mean to. it’s always reciprocated.
George Russell:
Ravenclaw: I’VE SAID IT BEFORE AND I’LL SAY IT AGAIN THIS KID. is so marvelously well spoken and he just has such a simple yet effective way with words. he knows what’s reasonable to expect but never fails to expect the most that he can given his circumstances. again, mentioned this before but a lot of it is his accent. the glottal stop is a historically stereotypically rural (i.e. “uneducated”) thing but I’m American and I Don’t Listen to the Rules, so the accent just makes him seem so sophisticated to me especially when he’s saying things like “horriiiiiiiific” and presenting his hefty powerpoints.
Seeker: my British Boys Are Seekers headcanon continues. definitely a Golden Boy of the team kind of guy (hello tragic dumpsterfire that is williams :/ ).
Nicholas Latifi:
Hufflepuff: same boat as lance. his twitch streams are so wholesome he’s just chilling man. twitter made me write him off as daft and unnecessary at first but like fuck twitter i’m all here for ninky latvia now.
Chaser: lowkey gives me keeper vibes as well? the sensible, level-headedness. but obvs that’s lance so chaser it is. still the level-headedness that helps him hold down the fort btwn pierre and daniil who can tend to get a bit imaginative, and also the energies of them + lando.
5/19/20: so it’s quite clear to me that i grew tired of brain functions the more time i took on this and the later ones are a bit lacking and for that i’m very sorry. that being said i’m still happy to see this finished bc the idea was VERY exciting for me.
#max verstappen#charles leclerc#daniel ricciardo#lando norris#f1#formula one#f1 grid#harry potter grid#finally done folks lordt#was anyone waiting for this idk but it's here#it's also glaringly obvious who i know less about but that too is something that one must excuse#whoops

mila & sunwoo reporting for duty !! okay so true story i’m writing this as my acceptance is getting posted ... and you guys’ welcome messages are popping in like crazy ?? you guys are fast ... i’m shook ! anyways, it’s so nice to meet you all ! i am mila, and i was here for a v v short time before w another muse but it was so uneventful we’re gonna skip over it lmao ? anywho !
the star of the show is mr. kim sunwoo, our film student at k-arts who eats food and gets scared in his free time ! if i’m being honest he .... doesn’t know what he’s doing at all, literally at all, but that’s what character development’s for !! i’m gonna put some info about him down below, and click for his profile, bio, socials, and the saddest plots page i have ever seen in life ( i had 5 minutes ok it’s a wip .... more is coming i promise >.< ) but anywho i’m excited to meet all of you and i will stop talking all of your ears off !! oh yeah ... and like this to plot with me !
i’m gonna quite literally skip over all his backstory because it sums it all up in the bio and if i start then i’ll never stop !!
but as a VERY short summary, sunwoo’s mom gave him up almost immediately after he was born because she was young & didn’t think she could care for him, sunwoo bounced through the system before eventually being placed with his permanent home & now adoptive mother, kim hyejin !!
and him being left as a kid & getting bounced from foster home to foster home really left a toll on him, and now he really craves clear acceptance and affection ?
sidenote kim hyejin is actually quite older, in her mid-60′s, so she looks more like his grandma than mom ?? which is ... confusing to a lot of people a lot of the time, and he gets tired of the questions but loves her to death ! i’m also so making it canon she looks like moon sook the actress because .... a BEAUTY ?? we stan aging gracefully !!!
he’s also hesitant to call her mom bc he has this undying faith he’ll reunite w his mother, even now so you’ll see him bounce between calling her mom & ms. kim !!
but not to spoil anything sunwoo will discover later but uh ... his relationship w his mom won’t be restored, at least not in the way he wants :((
but onto general sunwoo things !!
( and as a general note, if i refer to his “mom”, i’m referring to his adoptive mom, hyejin kim, unless stated otherwise ! i don’t want to confuse you guys ! )
creator of the channel “scream cuisine”, where he eats food while telling scary stories / conspiracy theories, and gives commentary !! definitely a paranormal enthusiast, with the unbothered energy of shane from buzzfeed unsolved w the hyperactivity of ryan ?? starting his channel def got him into making videos & he’s loved it ever since !
but more than anything, his biggest love is writing ! has a little personal blog where he writes random things spanning from poems to kpop album reviews lmao !! he wanted to be a journalist, but got into k-arts on the biggest whim ever after they apparently liked his video submission ?? so was like ok ... for now we’ll go with that !!
so currently he’s attending k-arts, and honestly finds it quite weird because he doesn’t really fit in w the passion a lot of the other students have for film ?? some of them are like v intense about it while he just sort of does it bc it’s fun ??
inherited a variety of skills from his mom ! these include painting, gardening, cooking, and a love for music ! so he can dabble a bit in all of them ! he’s honestly an overgrown grandma if we’re being honest, it’s what he gets for being raised a generation behind everyone else his age
he actually does love to sing !! ballads more than anything in terms of things he sings himself, but loves jamming to upbeat pop songs more than most things in this world !! he has a softer / higher voice, and though he has a really nice tone he has no professional training so he’s sort of just ... out here doing him ??
and see !!! this is the problem ! if you couldn’t tell already sunwoo literally has a thousand interests, and small talents, but none that really are screaming out at him ?? so his lack of intense passion for something is really frustrating ! he hasn’t been able to find himself yet and is constantly upset at himself for it.
if he knows you, sunwoo KNOWS you - he’ll be super friendly, always talking, etc !! though surprisingly, if sunwoo doesn’t know you he can become super introverted ? not because he doesn’t want to talk, but he is just more conscious of how he presents himself to you !
sunwoo def has chaotic tik tok boy energy ... he has been left with his phone for too long and his brand deteriorated bc of it ... i apologize if he just starts doing tik tok dances or makes weird references in the middle of serious convos it’s his coping mechanism
he does have a rbf but it’s so misleading ?? like this man is SUCH a soft boy and yet when he is zoning out he’s like 😡 but then u talk to him and he’s like 😊
also romance wise, he loves tsundere boys and strong-minded girls that are older than him ?? do i know why ?? i do not !! it just happened this way
he’s honestly so supportive, will stan everyone ?? and when i mean everyone, i mean yes even your random muse who walks past him one time without saying anything ?? he just has developed a v empathetic and loving personality despite his circumstance, and honestly kinda because of it ??
he loves video games, but unfortunately, he’s literally terrible on them ?? tried being a twitch gaming streamer before being gifted $1 by someone, only to have them send a message being like “u suck” so he was like ok wrong choice !!!
if i had to say the chance of sunwoo realizing his potential to be an idol, i would say 3.21%!!!! lmAO listen as much as he likes singing, and he likes attention, he just ... hasn’t really connected the dots ? he’d be the type to audition for fun but like ? he also does a lot of other things for fun he’s really not considering it as a thing for real yet ??
but !! he is about to start taking dance classes because he’s trying to lose this college weight so if anyone wants to help him or join him on this journey be our guest !!
oh !!! right he has a pomeranian named banana, but he calls her nana, and when i tell you this dog is his pride and joy he will never be prouder of anything more than he will be the day he adopted her ??? she’s 2, a diva, and bites him at least a few times a day but if you ask him he’ll say that’s her love language !!!
speaking of love ... phew this man is a lovebug !! goes though crushes like the flu - it comes fast, it hits him hard, and then goes away just like that. chances are if you know him he’s had a crush on you at some point of time or still do ? don’t worry i promise he won’t make it awkward !
anyway i feel like this was an overload of very chaotic information but sunwoo’s an incredibly chaotic overload of energy so !! very in character of me if i do say so myself ... i’m gonna let sunwoo speak for himself and hopefully we can get something going !! i’ve been so excited to bring him here & have been doing a lot of work so i hope he’s taken to well here !! i can’t wait to meet your muses :’))

Are you an empath or a high sensitive person? If so, do you have any advice on how to deal especially in our current crazy world?
I am a highly sensitive person, and I have been having a hard time recently. I don’t like to vocalize it much bc I feel shame feeling overwhelmed, bc who needs another white person complaining about their problems? Or so I feel that’s how it would be seen.
I recently started going to see a cognitive therapist, and it has helped a lot already. Just knowing I have someone who will listen to me and let me vocalize everything I need to tell someone is very helpful. They’re also good at helping me find ways to manage the influx of emotions and thoughts constantly coming into my head. Their number one suggestion currently is nature therapy. May sounds simple, but nature is really healing and meditative. That’s another thing -- meditating. I’ve picked it up again. It helps calm me down.
I also think it’s important to dedicate yourself to one of your crafts. I am someone who attempts to dedicate themselves too many crafts at the same time, gets overwhelmed, stops everything, and then tries again. I’ve dedicated myself to one thing - language learning- and decided that’s what I’m going to prioritize. That doesn’t mean I don’t still make art and play music or craft and make potions, it’s just that I don’t hold myself to doing all of those things simultaneously. It feels freeing and I’m not as hard on myself as normal. But that might just be a me thing. It’s good to have a hobby and dabble in it regularly, but to not hold yourself to high standards about doing the things that bring you joy, bc otherwise they become a chore.
As a general mood - have patience with yourself.
I’m also reading more. I read books that help bring me insight without overwhelming me. This is not me ignoring the situations we’re in, this is me taking care of my mental health, prioritizing that so that I can more readily help others when I have a firmer grasp on my anxiety/sensitivity.
I recently have begun giving to one nonprofit every month, and recently they have been black-led black-centered nonprofits. I’m not able to do crowds and lots of energy/yelling/anger right now, and I honestly don’t know how or when I will ever be able to, but I can help in other ways. I’d rather give some of my paycheck directly to diverse nonprofits and let them manage the funds how they wish than partake in other forms of direct action. I think it’s a common misconception that if you don’t have a toe in every form of activism, you’re a bad activist. I don’t think that’s true at all, and I think it actually does a lot more harm than good, not to mention how it alienates those who want to help but can’t do everything for one reason or another (and there are many reasons).
Do what you can, how you feel comfortable doing it. Altruism and activism take on many faces. But remember your heart work, your mind work. Empty vessels can’t pour over into others.
Hope that helps a bit <3

Menagerie, Pt 4.
Sorry this is a couple days late! Life happened. But without further ado, we hope you enjoy.
“Yuuri!” Viktor exclaimed, holding up a hand to greet him.
Yuuri waved back and smiled broadly, never feeling as light as he did now. The pure joy on Viktor’s face from seeing him made Yuuri feel welcome. The friendly cadence in Viktor’s voice was sincere, and Yuuri had an inkling that Viktor was looking forward to their outing as much as he was.
“Hi Viktor,” he said when he reached him, “How are you this fine morning?”
“Better now that you’re here,” Viktor professed, “I thought we could chat before everyone else arrives.”
There was so much Yuuri wanted to say but didn’t want to appear too eager. He wanted to know everything there was to know about the man called Viktor Nikiforov. He wanted to know what made him smile, what made him think and what made him tick. He wanted to know about what he held dear in life and more about his aspirations than he did now but now was not the time.
“Copper for your thoughts,” Viktor said suddenly.
“Oh nothing,” Yuuri said, fibbing slightly, “What would you like to talk about?”
Viktor pressed a finger to his lips and considered the question, Yuuri thinking the gesture endearing. There wasn’t much about the man that he didn’t find charming and didn’t think there could be anything that changed his mind. When Viktor started, he broke Yuuri out of his reverie once more.
“Tell me about your family,” Viktor requested, “I know your father is a financier, but nothing about the Katsuki family in general.”
“Well, my father is Toshiya. As I said, he’s a financier. My mother is Hiroko and she’s involved in many societal gatherings and charity organizations. Remember the flooding in the southern part of town last year?” he asked, watching Viktor nod, “She spearheaded the relief effort for that calamity.”
“That’s quite admirable,” Viktor said.
“I’m proud of her,” Yuuri confessed, “Then there’s my sister, Mari. She’s my older sibling and helps my father out with his business quite a bit. She has a knack for numbers and trends. Much more than I ever will.”
“Can she take over your father’s business when the time comes?” Viktor inquired, “That would leave you the chance to achieve your dream.”
“It isn’t acceptable for a woman to be in such a position,” Yuuri said sadly.
“Who knows,” Viktor said, “Maybe things will change between now and then.”
“Mayhap,” he agreed, “What about you?”
“I’m the only child of Ivan and Oksana Nikiforov. My father inherited the business from his father and so on. It’s just recently gotten into steel since it’s the material of the future,” Viktor explained.
“It does seem like it’s everywhere,” Yuuri added.
“Business is booming, that’s for sure,” Viktor said, “My mother holds tea parties most days and frets about my father and I, particularly me. She is convinced I shall never settle down and produce grandchildren for her.”
“You’re still young,” Yuuri said.
“Tell that to my mother,” he muttered, “Twenty-seven is awfully old in her eyes.”
Yuuri smiled at him, Viktor’s heart fluttering when the corners of his eyes crinkled. It was refreshing talking to Yuuri like this and he felt relieved conversation came so easily between them. Listening to Yuuri speak and watching his body language, Viktor felt his attraction for the man grow.
The rest of the players arrived as they were speaking and Viktor introduced Yuuri to them. They were playing at a nearby country club that morning, dividing into two teams of three. The game was to last an hour, with six chukkers. While they had three minutes between each chukker, Viktor hoped the hour would fly by so he could spend more time with Yuuri.
The stroll to the club was pleasant with Viktor’s friends asking Yuuri questions. They were an amiable bunch and did their best to make Yuuri feel welcome. Judging by the smile on Yuuri’s face, Viktor assumed he was enjoying himself.
As they neared the club, Viktor went through the rules of the game and how gameplay would progress. He explained they’d be foregoing the usual fifteen minute half-time, but they’d have fun even though the match was shortened. Asking Yuuri whether he was right- or left-handed, Viktor was pleased when he replied right. He explained that the mallet had to be held in his right hand and he’d steer the horse with his left. Going over the right-of-way and how to steal the ball from other players, Viktor announced that Yuuri would be on the team with himself and Thom. He told Yuuri there was normally four players per team, but they had been unable to fill the last two spots.
Yuuri was nervous about doing well since he wasn’t known as a sportsman. Dabbling on the ice when wintertime rolled around was as far as his athletic ventures went, and while he enjoyed it he knew twirling on the ice was nothing compared to polo. Determined to do his best, he continued to listen to Viktor give him pointers.
“Don’t try to bump anyone with your horse,” Viktor advised, “That’s for those that have been playing for a while. Likewise, if someone bumps you, don’t fret. Stay calm and in control of your horse. That’s the best thing you can do. If you need a break, let us know. We’re not in a tournament so the rules will be lax today.”
“I’m sure I’ll do fine, Viktor,” Yuuri fibbed, hoping he wasn’t visibly anxious.
Viktor smiled and patted his shoulder before heading for the stables. His family had several horses housed at the club and Viktor wanted to visit his favorite mare. She wasn’t used often for sport but leisurely rides. He found himself wondering if Yuuri would enjoy a ride on the grounds one day, mentally choosing the perfect horse for him.
“Hey Viktor,” Thom said, smirking at him, “Are you borrowing someone else’s horse?”
“No, why?”
“You passed your father’s stalls,” Les said in amusement.
Viktor rolled his eyes and shrugged off his preoccupation. He was busy contemplating the fun he and Yuuri could have that afternoon: heading off to lunch after the match, eating in the town square while talking about everything under the sun, strolling through downtown and admiring the different selections to buy in the storefront windows. He dreamed of walking hand-in-hand with Yuuri, but knew it was entirely out of the question.
Viktor signed two horses out of the stable, rubbing his mare’s head lovingly. The horse had been in the family since Viktor was a teen and he’d grown to love her. Viktor couldn’t imagine using another horse beside her.
“She’s beautiful,” Yuuri said, coming over to pet her.
“Thanks,” he said, beaming at Yuuri, “We’ve had her since I turned seventeen.”
“I don’t know horses, but she doesn’t look like she’s ten,” Yuuri said, peering thoughtfully at the horse.
“She’s a young soul,” Viktor replied, grinning when Yuuri chuckled, “Time to get your horse.”
“I have to warn you, I’m not very good on them,” Yuuri stated.
“Betsy will be easy on you. I promise,” he assured him.
Going over the last minute rules and pointers for the game, Yuuri declared himself ready to play. Viktor told his friends to take it easy on Yuuri, explaining once again that it was his first game. Viktor assisted Yuuri onto his horse before heading to his own, thinking how much fun he was going to have.
“Ready?” Viktor asked once Yuuri was settled.
“As I’ll ever be,” Yuuri answered.
“Let the fun begin,” Viktor said.

fanfic writer appreciation day
i love this day, because while i believe it is important to appreciate fanfic authors everyday, i do think it is nice to dedicate a day to doing so. fanfic writers (those of us who have been here for years, those of us who just started, those of us who write full-length novels, and those of us who dabble in blurbs--litearlly every single person) work very hard on their craft and i want to take the time to show some love to some of my favorite authors! i haven’t had much time to read, but here is a short list of writers who i have loved for awhile, always return too, and have had the pleasure of enjoying their work. thank you for inspiring me and giving me a way to escape from the hectic nature of life and the stress of adult responsibilities. i highly recommend giving everyone on this list a follow if you haven’t yet—you won’t regret it. 💓
the writers below are a mix of tom holland and peter parker writers (and co.)!
@hey-marlie there are simply not enough words in the english language that could express my love for miss marlie b. as a writer, marlie has done something so incredibly astounding, phenomenal, and spectacular. every piece of work she puts out moves me (i laugh, i cry, i scream in frustration and i bite my nails in anticipation) and pushes me to want to work on my own craft. i’ve been with her since far from you (home) was just about 2/3 of the way through and have fallen more in love with the world she has been creating since. i cannot chose just one piece to recommend, because they have all taken my breath away, so here is her entire spider-man masterlist. (though spidey code sleepover, homage to heartbreak and london pt.3 are on my permanent re-read list.)
@pparkerwrites j! i don’t think there’s many more things i could say about her that i haven’t already. she’s as kind as she is talented, which is a pretty staggeringly high amount. one of the first marvel writers i ever found and fell in love with, i have only become more enamored by her work. my favorites include sunburn, revelations and her mini-series ex-friends (here is pt. 1!) || masterlist
@starksparker kaylee. where do i begin? kaylee is the writer who pushed me to begin writing again. she is the writer who never fails to inspire me and constantly puts out work (and i mean full length novels—take a moment to bow down to this wonder of a woman!) that makes me have to stop and catch my breath, because the emotional roller-coaster i was put on was so exhilarating. forever and dare you to move are two of my favorite series from her! || masterlist
@madmadmilk i’ve expressed my love for j before, but let’s do this one more time (cue into the spider-verse type introduction scene). i can’t remember how i found her blog, but i’m insanely happy that i did. i’ve been following her for quite some time and it has been nothing short of a good time. her stories have a way of taking you away and making you feel a multitude of emotions all at once. she makes you laugh, she makes you cry, and she makes you thirst. my favorites include ground rules and contrapposto (seriously, i cannot tell you how many times i have re-read both of these series...and they still take my breath away each time). || masterlist
@ispiderdudei laney knows how big of a fan and supporter i am of her’s, but i want to let you all know once more! some time ago, i stumbled across her series only and fell head-over-heels in love with it, and in turn, her!! it’s a dad!tom fic and if that’s your jam, i cannot recommend the series enough. it’s a fic that i continuously look forward too and don’t get tired of reading. || masterlist
@keepingupwiththeparkers katie! wow oh wow! i’ve only been following her for a short amount of time, but i’ve loved getting to know her and her work more as time goes on! i’m currently working through her series sweetner and i’m truly at a loss for words when it comes to how i feel about it. it’s so sweet (hmm no pun intended, tho it does seem fitting) and makes me crave my own uni!barista!tom! the series truly has it all and i promise you will love it if you read it; i don’t get tired of reading it. and it really is the kind of love i am searching for in uni. and i love her for that! || masterlist
@angelic-holland alice! where do i begin? i think i found her work shortly before leaving for a flight across seas and i remember being upset i wouldn’t have any internet so that i could continue binge reading her work!! i even tried to open as many tabs with stories that peaked my intrigue as i could so i would at least have a few stories to read--safe to say i was entertained and felt many emotions on that flight. you can pick any piece of her work and it will take your breath away (and probably make you thirst), but i do have to recommend her series drive north, as it is one i always return to! || masterlist
@lousimusician i actually found this author from other people recommending them in some of my mutual’s inboxes and i’m insanely glad they did! they have a lot of great work, but my favorite is their series i want you back! it has made me laugh, but mostly cry, as it has ripped my heart straight out of my chest and stomped on it—but in the best way possible. do yourself a favor, and give it a read! || masterlist
@mcuspidey lixi! my love! you know how big of a fan of yours i am, but imma gush about you some more! lixi has a hold on my heart and i am completely okay with that; she is as great a friend as she is a writer. reading her work is always such a joy, as it doesn’t just past the time for me, but it actually makes me feel. i feel my eyes water, i feel my heart clench during angsty parts, and i feel my cheeks hurt from smiling so wide though all the fluff. because i’m a sucker for my boy peter parker, one of my favorites is her piece i like you! (she also makes such pretty moodboards and masterlists—in fact, she made my masterlist and i am so in love with it!) || masterlist
@stuckonspidey lilly—how i love you so. i can’t remember how i found your blog or what piece i first read, all i know for sure is that first night i stumbled across your blog, i binge read everything you had posted. i started reading i only feel you when there was only about four parts posted! to see how far you come is a joy and to get to know you more as person is a gift. lilly has a way of transporting you into her stories and one of my absolute favorites is her series we all wear masks! if you have a moment, i highly recommend sitting down and checking out her work. || masterlist
this hellsite has so many wonderful authors, many of whom i haven’t even discovered yet, so just know that even if you aren’t on this list, i appreciate the hell out of you. keep doing what you’re doing, because you’re so wonderful! 💓
pt. 2 pt. 3
#this is in no way shape or form contains all the authors i love#i'm just very tired and want to express my love fully and not just slap down meaningless words#so i will most likely make a pt. 2#and probably a pt. 3 as well#fanfic writer appreciation day#peter parker x reader#peter parker imagine#peter parker one shot#peter parker fic rec#tom holland x reader#tom holland imagine#tom holland one shot#tom holland fic rec#grace babbles#i'll meet queue in the afterglow
