Don’t mind me, I’m just emotional over Lupin again…like, first, Harry tells him that he heard his mom when the dementors came around. And Lupin obviously wants to comfort Harry, but stops himself because while Lupin knows Harry as one of his best friend’s son, Harry only knows Lupin as a teacher, sure, one he likes, but one he’s only know for a few months.
Then, Lupin is trying to help Harry protect himself with a patronus, but can definitely see that it’s not easy on Harry. And while doing that, Harry says that he heard his dad. Harry heard a friend that Lupin hasn’t heard in so long, someone he no doubt misses very much, especially since Harry looks so much like him. And Harry also freaking cries…we don’t know if Lupin saw that but honestly I wouldn’t be surprised if he did. And it’s just another reminder that James is gone, and Harry doesn’t know him because of Sirius (at least to Lupin’s knowledge right now) and just the emotions Lupin must be feeling….he made Harry stop practicing because it was hard on him, but honestly Lupin probably needed a break himself…
And THEN! Harry is playing quidditch and Lupin is obviously watching, most definitely being reminded of James, when Harry straight up makes a real patronus, the EXACT same as his dad. Lupin is out here seeing his old friends everywhere, but they are just glimpses, they aren’t actually *there* and man that’s gotta hurt and be so hard. Because of course he’s proud of Harry, but boy he looks so much like James, and he wishes *James* could’ve seen Harry 😭
(Also, let’s give this man applause for seeing James in Harry but still treating Harry as his own person. I love Sirius but he’s not as good about that 😅)
And of course then, not long after *that*, Snape freaking calls Lupin and straight up shows him the marauder’s map, which Lupin hasn’t seen in *ages*, and who is carrying it? Harry. So many memories, it’s honestly no wonder that Lupin kind of snaps at Harry. He must be feeling so many emotions and all he wants to do is keep Harry safe, but he can’t if Harry isn’t trying to protect himself. And goodness knows Lupin doesn’t want to lose the only thing he has left of his friends (Harry) again, especially not at the hands of Sirius…again…
Ugh this man needs a HUG
#I’m fine this is fine…#remus lupin#harrry potter#prisoner of azkaban#harry potter and the prisoner of azkaban#james potter#cause kind of…#I’ll save my thoughts about Lupin looking sick for another post#cause some of this happens like…when he’s still recovering and oof being tired and emotional? that’s rough…

Waiting in the Wings
Wrote this lovely one-shot after being inspired by another tumblr post about the similarities between Ron and Cassandra from the Tangled series. Waiting in the Wings is a song that Cassandra sings in the series.
Takes place a few days after Harry’s name comes out of the Goblet, and Hermione tries to talk to Ron about it.
Ron walked into the library looking for a table that was out of the way. After choosing one that would do, he threw his bag on the ground as he sat in one of the empty chairs. It’d been two days since Harry’s name came out of the goblet. He’d done everything he could to avoid being around Harry. Hermione, too, since she’d just nag him, and he really wasn’t in the mood for that. Ron was also running out of things to do that kept Harry out of his sight. Sure, tagging along with Seamus and Dean had been fine yesterday, but it wasn’t the same. So here he was, sitting in the library of all places, to avoid being around ‘the chosen one.’
He begrudgingly pulled out his work. Since he was here, Ron might as well attempt to get some of his homework done. He figured he’d at least stay until he got hungry, and who knows what he’d do after that. Ron opened one of his textbooks, not paying attention to which one, and arranged the parchment beside it. Looks like he was starting with History of Magic. “This day keeps getting better,” Ron muttered to himself as he attempted to focus on the book.
His focus didn’t last long, as his mind began to wander, as it normally did these past few days, to Harry’s betrayal. The anger and hurt was still simmering beneath his skin. They normally did everything together. He couldn’t believe that Harry would actually go behind his back and do this without him. So much for being best friends. Why keep this whole thing a secret? It didn’t make any sense.
Ron heard movement across the table and looked up. Hermione sat down across from him and began pulling out her work. “I hope you don’t mind if I join you. All the other good tables are taken, and you looked like you could use some company,” she said blithely.
“Not if you’re going to nag me, no,” Ron snapped. They sat in silence for a while, but everytime Ron looked up at Hermione, he could tell she was dying to say something. If he wasn’t so annoyed at what he knew she was going to ask, he would have been impressed she’d held out this long from asking. She wasn’t known for her patience when it came to prying answers out of people.
“Why don’t you just say what you came here to say?” Ron finally said.
“What do you mean? I came here to spend time with my friend who I’ve barely seen or spoken to all weekend.” Hermione retorted.
“That’s a lie and you know it. I’ve known you long enough to know when you have an ulterior motive up your sleeve, and at the rate you’re chewing on your tongue, there won’t be anything left if you don’t come out with it already!” Ron hissed.
“Fine. Why are you so upset with Harry? And how can you not believe he didn’t put his name in there? You know him better than anyone, even me, so you must know how ridiculous this row is.” Hermione’s words flowed uncontrollably out of her mouth.
“That’s rich coming from you. I told you once, and I’ll tell you again. I’m not going to talk to you about it. You wouldn’t understand, anyways. So if you want to go take Harry’s side with this, then be my guest,” Ron said angrily as he slammed his book and shoved it into his bag. As his arm made his way back to the table to grab the parchment, Hermione reached out and grabbed it. Ron’s eyes snapped up to Hermione’s, who looked just as shocked as he did before she pulled away rather quickly. He wasn’t sure what just happened, but the shock he felt from it made all the anger evaporate from his body, albeit briefly.
Hermione recovered from the unexpected shock quickly and said, “Don’t be daft, you know I wouldn’t choose sides. Just as Harry did last year for us, and I’m sure you’d do the same for Harry and me if ever that were to happen..”
“Still wouldn’t be surprised if you chose him,” Ron mumbled, trying to gloss over Hermione’s brief mention of the Crookshanks/Scabbers debacle last year as well as the idea that Harry and Ron would forgive and make up eventually.
“Why would you say that?” Hermione asked him meaningfully.
“It doesn’t matter,” Ron said as he slumped his shoulders and stared at the blank parchment in front of him.
“Yes, it does, “Hermione pushed.
Ron sat there for a long moment. His mum told him once when he was mad at the twins that it was always better to talk about something rather than hold it in. Ron wasn’t one to talk about his negative feelings often. He’d just let them build up inside until he combusted, rather than put his anger and hurt onto someone else. Growing up as the sixth youngest sibling, he didn’t want to come off as whiny and nagging to his older brothers.
“I’m just sick of always being the sidekick. The one who stands by, ready to be there, only to get shoved aside.” He wasn’t sure what led him to lay it all out there for Hermione, but he did it anyways.
Hermione stared at him. “Ron, you know that’s not true.”
“Who says? I’m always the forgotten sibling, and then I had to go become best friends with the bloody Boy who Lived. It doesn’t matter whether I’m there or not because it’s always going to be Harry who saves the day.” He wasn’t sure what possessed him to say it.
“How can you say that?” Hermione asked. “You are just as important as anyone else.” Ron wasn’t sure what Hermione was thinking. She couldn’t possibly think he was more important than this.
“Yeah? To who?” Ron said sarcastically.
“To me!” Hermione paused a moment. “To Harry, too, and your family.”
“Thanks, Hermione. I know you’re trying to help, but it’s not going to change things. It’s just how it is.” Ron wasn’t sure why, but his thoughts floated back to the Mirror of Erised that night first year. He remembered seeing himself holding the Quidditch Cup, as Head Boy, and aside from his brothers; finally noticed as his own person, and not just ‘another Weasley.’ He was pretty sure he’d still see the same thing if he were to look in it today. Nothing had changed.
“Ron, Harry couldn’t have succeeded in half of what he’s done without you beside him, or have you forgotten? Harry and I would have been stuck at the giant chess board if it wasn’t for you first year, or maybe I would have been strangled by the Devil’s Snare because I was too focused on needing firewood for light and forgetting that I could cast magic.” Hermione paused as Ron shrugged.
“You would have found another way around the board, I’m sure.”
“Okay, but what about second year? There’s no way Harry would have managed the Spider’s Lair on his own-”
“Wish he would’ve” Ron interjected under his breath as Hermione rolled his eyes.
“He couldn’t have gotten down to the chamber of secrets without you either!”
“Hermione, he went in alone when I was stuck with Lockhart on the other side of the debris, remember? I didn’t do anything there to help him rescue Ginny from Tom or that diary.”
“But you still went down there with him, and you were ready to go into danger with him. It wasn’t your fault you got separated.”
“That’s the thing, isn’t it? I got sidelined, so it was Harry saving the day, saving my sister, not me. And, it kind of was my fault. Lockhart used my wand that backfired and caused the rock to fall..”
“Honestly, Ronald! It’s a good thing he did use that wand, otherwise you two would have been obliviated and Ginny would surely be dead!” When Ron didn’t respond, Hermione pressed on. “Okay, but what about last year with Sirius? You told Sirius he’d have to kill you before Harry. Even with a broken leg you were protecting your best friend!”
“Sure, a lot of good that did, yeah? Sirius wasn’t after Harry. He was after Sca- er Pettigrew, and then everything went to hell with Professor Lupin, and you both got to scamper off to save the day, but I had to stay behind because I’d gone and broken my leg.”
“Ron, you’re not giving yourself enough credit-”
“Why would I give myself credit when someone else is more important? I’m not destined to be the hero, so can’t I just have this? Just let me be angry, Hermione. It was one thing for both of us to joke and think about what would happen if we were somehow in the running or chosen as the champion, but he took it too far! Once again, he wins. Harry’s the champion, he gets all the glory and attention.”
“Do you think Harry really wants the attention from this? When has he ever acted like he was basking in any glory? He didn’t get to choose this life, Ron. I thought you’d understand that of all people.” Hermione huffed. “No one can make you believe that Harry didn’t put his name in the goblet, and this is the last time I’ll bring it up. I hope you come to your senses soon because Harry could really use his best friend about now. In case you haven’t noticed, the rest of the school is also pretty peeved about Harry being a champion, too, so he’s not just dealing with Slytherin nonsense as usual. It doesn’t help that his best friend doesn’t even have his back. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I need to revise this History of Magic paper for tomorrow. You’d do well to take yours back out if you want any help on it.”
Ron sat there processing everything she said and slowly took his book back out. “Er, right, thanks,” he said, for lack of anything else to say.
“Like I said before, I’m not choosing sides. So I’ll split my time as best I can until you two can sort this out, but I won’t get in the middle of it anymore.” Hermione went back to her parchment.
Despite taking his textbook back out, Ron sat there with his arms crossed thinking about what Hermione said. He’d been denying it deep down, but the more Ron thought, the more he realized that Hermione was probably right. Harry wasn’t exactly sharp witted enough to figure out how to get past the age line. Even the twins couldn’t crack that one. Ron had let the initial reaction of jealousy and betrayal get the best of him, and his anger had taken over. It wasn’t one of his best qualities, but he was who he was.
Ron sat up to focus back on his homework as he’d resigned to the fact that Harry was probably an innocent victim, but they’d fought, and Ron was not the best with apologies, his pride always getting the best of him. So he’d wait until Harry came to him. He would, of course, have his back if anyone tried anything in the meantime. Loyalties were more important than pride. After all, it wouldn’t be that long, right?

Ain’t Going Away [Eijiro Kirishima/Reader] [Hanahaki AU]
Hi! So, I know...I know. I wanted to wait, too, then my hand slipped and here we go. ^.^’ Sorry not sorry!
This idea came from Crush by David Archuleta, which I listened to on repeat while wiring this fic. I even used lyrics in it. They’re italicized and bolded.
Might not make sense, might end up being cool. Either way, hope you all enjoy!
I want to tag @elite-guard-hardygal (who gave me the encouragement needed to post this now instead of waiting) and @souskena, who voted for this idea as Kirishima X Reader and also voted for another one from This Post of Ideas. If y’all wanna see more of those ideas, please just send in an ask and tell me what you want to see. You can use the idea and say [Character] X Reader or a different F/M couple from MHA. Doesn’t have to be KiriKara, but that’s where my brain went coming up with the ideas.
..I’ll shut up now...
Hope you all enjoy!
God Bless and Good Day!
~The Lupine Sojourner
(Ignore the words on the GIF...hehe...)
=#=#= Kirishima =#=#=#=
It all started after the attack on the USJ. Eijiro hadn’t meant to fall so deep so fast, but here he is. He’d protected Y/N when she’d gotten hurt, making sure she got the treatment she needed, staying with her and helping her through her recovery.
Ever since Y/N had fully recovered, he’d started coughing up petals, the number increasing every once in a while.
Now, the petals fall into the trash can, and he knows he’s in trouble. Twenty petals, over ten minutes of painful hacking and choking.
This girl had him puking flowers...and still he loved her. Y/N would never know, cus he was too stupid to just spill those three words.
But...but what if she said she didn’t feel the same way?
He’d be dead. So he kept doing to the study sessions Mina set up with their class to get he and Y/N closer together and Eijiro just hopes he keeps it together enough that he didn’t raise suspicion. He knows Mina manipulates him into going purely because she also gets Y/N to go. Of course, his best friend knew about his condition. She’d happened to The last thing he wanted was for Y/N to take pity on him and try to kiss him purely to stop the disease.
So he remains silent. That is, until his phone buzzes. Y/N was calling him. His eyes go wide. He’d forgotten! They had a study date tonight!
=#=#= Y/N =#=#=
“Hey, Kiri!” I cheer. I wasn’t mad. Of course, there was still plenty of time for him to get here, so I wanted to remind him now.
“H-hey, Y/N.” Eijiro replies. I frown.
“Dude, you okay?” I ask worriedly. His voice was really gravelly, like he was sick. “If you’re sick, we can reschedule.”
“Nah, I just, uh, was singing really loud a lot while cleaning.” He replies and I’m not sure I believe him. But I lie and pretend to buy it. He was such a nice guy, but even nice guys need privacy, so I push down the instinct to push and find out the truth.
“Oh. So we’re still on for tonight?”
“Absolutely. Chemistry tonight, right?” He asks. His voice seems to be a little steadier now, so I guess it wasn’t that big a deal.
“Yeah.”
“Okay. Just give me five minutes to change then I’m on my way.” I nod, blushing, then I shake myself. It wasn’t like he was coming to my house. It was just a study session. There would be other people from our class there.
“Alright. See you soon!” I hope I didn’t sound too eager as he repeats what I’d said and hangs up. I make sure all my books and notes are in the bag, then slowly walk down to the living room. Mom was waiting.
“Ready to go?” She asks. I slip on ankle boots at the door.
“I was born ready.” I retort playfully and go to grab a protein bar from the kitchen.
“Okay.” Mom says. I kiss her cheek and walk out the door. It was a twenty minute drive to the local library and I walk in happily, accustomed to the sight and smell of the building. Our classmate, Yaoyorozu, had somehow been talked into being the class tutor, as she had the highest grades. I had a strong suspicion my friend, Mina Ashido, was responsible. Mina could talk just about anyone into just about anything, and make it seem like their idea.
Either way, it was a great boost to my grades and I was grateful Momo decided to start these sessions.
=#=#= Kirishima =#=#=
I hung up the phone tonight. Something happened for the first time, deep inside, there’s a rush...what a rush...
Eijiro couldn’t help smiling to himself. Y/N had sounded so happy he’d be there! She was always happy, but this seemed different somehow.
Cus a possibility that you would ever feel the same way is just too much, just too much...
Why, though? Why would someone as wonderful and amazing as Y/N ever notice, much less fall for, a guy that had already failed to protect her and didn’t really let himself hang around her for fear of her discovering his condition and piecing it together. So he kept his distance, telling himself it was better this way, that it was okay.
Why do I keep running from the truth? All I ever think about is you...
However, the study session was an opportunity to see Y/N and help his grades a little at the same time and Lord knows that boy needs a bit of help.
So he trudges into the library, swearing he missed a petal in his throat when he was having that huge coughing fit earlier. Y/N sees him instantly, jogging over.
“Hey, you made it!” She cheers quietly, hugging him and seeming as happy as she had on the phone. Was that...was she blushing? Eijiro ignores that. It was windy outside. That was it. Yeah…
“Of course.” He replies softly. It was killing him, the way she smiles at him like he was the only one she saw, the way that hunter green fluffy sweater with missing shoulders swishes around as she moves.
Does she know what she’s doing to him? Is she teasing him til he breaks? Or he was just being creepy and reading too much into her expression?
Got me hypnotized, so mesmerized, and I just got to know--
Either way, he cuts wandering thoughts of Y/N off and makes himself keep just a little distance between them as they walk to the group. “I so need the help!” Y/N confesses, scratching the back of her neck. “Chemistry isn’t my strong suit.”
“You’ll get it.” He assures her. He was always the one to support her, to tell her she could do it, because he meant it and it was a harmless way to show his support, right?
Do you ever think, when we’re all alone, all that we could be, where this thing cold go?
Eijiro swallows, sipping from a water bottle he usually kept on him (puking flowers made one thirsty, apparently), and sets his bag down as Momo set up problems on the board Eijiro was frankly scared to try. He was surprised when Y/N sat across from him, smiling that damning smile at him again. He blushes scarlet and dips to grab his books so he doesn’t have to let her see him blushing. When he straightens, Mina is chatting with Y/N as she grabs her books, as well. It drove Eijiro mad when Y/N flits her eyes to him every now and again, and he swears that blush is still on her cheeks. Why? It wasn’t that warm, but maybe her sweater was making her hot?
=#=#= Y/N =#=#=
Am I crazy or falling in love? Is this real or just another crush?
It was a stupid question, really. I’d never felt quite like this before. Not even in middle school with Shinso, and I drew our wedding. It was nothing more than a momentary, flitting infatuation compared to Eijiro, however. Since he’d saved me at the USJ, I can’t help feeling like he and I were becoming closer, but he never wants to stay and talk at length with me, so I have to resort to texting him as much as he’d let me.
Do you catch your breath, when I look at you? Are you holding back, like the way you do?
It didn’t matter; he never wanted to talk too deep with me when we were together, or even through texting, so I’d have to settle for pining from afar. It’s eating me up, though. I just know something’s itching to be said.
The way he looks at me when he thinks I’m not looking, the way his eyes dart around, looking anywhere at me when I begin to get too personal, it all indicated something was wrong, but he never wanted to talk about it, so I always let it slide. No sense ruining our friendship because I couldn’t respect his boundaries. Mina wouldn’t tell me, either, insisting his home life was not the cause, and that she’d let me know if she found out anything.
I then shake myself; time to get back to the studying.
=#=#= Kirishima =#=#=
Cus I’m trying and trying to walk away, but I know this crush ain’t going away…
Eijiro sighs softly and copies the notes, and Momo’s explanation as to how she got the answer. It was hard to concentrate on chemistry when there was a different chemistry Eijiro was concerned with. The boy was sunk, and even if he tried to walk away, even if he wanted to just stop seeing her, he knew he’d eventually cave and go back to her. His life might well depend on staying with her. Mina looked between them, smiling at Eijiro, who flushes and grabs a sip of water. This wasn’t going to end well, was it?
Has it ever crossed your mind, when we’re hanging, spending time girl, are we just friends? Is there more? Is there more…
Y/N was smiling at him again as Momo wrapped up her session and they began putting books away. It was suddenly hard to breathe, and Eijiro didn’t think it was because Y/N was happy.
Shit. No, no, no! Not here. Not now!
“Are you okay?” Y/N asks. Eijiro takes another sip of water, praying it would stall the inevitable.
“Yeah. M’fine.” He lies, and is kinda proud of how his voice remains fairly calm and level. “I just, ah, I felt a cough, and drank water to stop it.” He adds, and Y/N nods, swinging her backpack up. Cute and strong...could this girl get any more perfect?
See, it’s a chance we gotta take, cus I believe we could make this into something that will last forever and ever!
Something in Eijiro snaps and his trepidation suddenly doesn’t stop him from getting closer to Y/N. “Can I just say how pretty that sweater looks on you?” He says, using what he hopes is a flirty voice. Y/N blushes and this time, Eijiro knows he made her blush. Counting that as a win, and ignoring the way his throat is slowly constricting, he smiles at Y/N.
“Aww, r-really? I- -thank you!” Y/N replies.
“Thank you.” Eijiro retorts without thinking, blushing as soon as the words were out. “Shit. I mean, um…”
“Relax, Eijiro.” Y/N giggles, and dear God his blush is getting out of hand. This girl would be the death of him.
Maybe literally. He shuts that thought down. Or not. “I gotta say, Eijiro...you look handsome in that flannel.” He blinks, heart skipping happily as he processes her words.
=#=#= Y/N =#=#=
Holy shit what’s gotten into Eijiro?! He’s always been super supportive, but...flirty is a new side of him!
I mean, I like it, but still.
“Thanks!” He then coughs a few times and instantly, I am worried.
“Eiji!” I grab his water bottle and press it into his hands. “Try some water.” He takes a sip and straightens, the effort of not coughing making his eyes water.
“Th-thanks.” He croaks. “I think...home...now.” Is all I can understand. I nod.
“Okay. Text me when you get there, okay?” I don’t notice the look he gives Mina when he turns around. I don’t notice the frenzied, panicking look in their eyes. All I know is Eijiro gives me a thumbs up and takes another sip of water as he walks to his car. I get into mine, worry gnawing at me. I sit there as the others drive away.
Suddenly, I realize that Mina is still here, too. She’s on the phone, gesturing frantically. I roll the window down and can’t help listening in on a hunch.
“--ro, this is serious! You texted me that you’d coughed up twenty petals before the session! Now you’re coughing harder than that?! So soon!? This is getting out of hand! I have to tell he- -yes, someone has to tell her, Eijiro! Y/N has the right to know what you’re doing through! She’s the damn love you’ve kept inside you, you idiot!” I am floored.
Petals? Coughing up petals? Had I heard that right? Shit! I’d heard of that! It’s a rare, deadly disease coming up in someone with an intense, unrequited love, right? They begin to puke up flowers, starting at petals, then whole flowers when the feeling increase. How could this happen! I was the cause of his suffering?! I made him cough up flowers because he couldn’t tell me how he felt?! Why not?! Did I scare him away?
Well, obviously not...considering that he was in this position because he loved me, but couldn’t get the words out...
I start the car and drive as fast as I can, my mind racing. I just hoped I wasn’t too late.
Eijiro liked me so much, and I never had a clue! Which is stupid, looking back. What I thought was me just reading too much into his words and expressions was real. He loved me! And I loved him! That should be all the cure he needs, right? I just have to confess to him and it’ll all be okay!
=#=#= Mrs. Kirishima =#=#=
“Hey, honey, how was- -Eijiro!” Mrs. Kirishima wasn’t usually one to fret too much over her child. But seeing him with a stream of tears and petals falling out of his mouth was enough to drive her into a panic. She sits him down and gets him a bucket for the petals. She knew by the amount of petals already in the bucket that this was a whole flower coming up, which meant he was running out of time... “Breathe, baby. Breathe. It’ll be okay…” She whispers without reassurance it’ll come true.
“It hurts!” Eijiro sobs in a moment of vulnerability. “I could barely talk to Mina on the way over here!” He croaks between coughs. All Mrs. Kirishima can do is rub her son’s back.
“Shh, son. I know. I know...” She doesn’t know what else to say.
Suddenly, a few minutes later, the door opens and in comes a young woman. She goes immediately to Eijiro and gently eases his chin up. Before Eijiro can react, she’s kissing him and Mrs. Kirishima notices tears down her eyes. Eijiro isn’t stupid and responds a moment later, winding his hands in her hair and then they have to break apart because he’s still coughing. “I came as fast as I could. Something didn’t sit right with me and I couldn’t go home, and then I noticed Mina on the phone and I overheard and- -I’m so sorry, Eijiro! I never meant to hurt you!” She sobs, looking him in the eye. Eijiro is stunned.
“...You love me back?” He whispers, as if not daring to consider it unless this woman repeats it aloud. She nods.
“Yes! I do, I do, I do!” She hugs him. “I thought I was being crazy or reading too much into you!” She replies, sobbing a little, this time in happiness. “I was so happy to know you liked me, but also so scared I was too late. Eijiro, I love you and will always love you!”
“I love you, too. Y/N.” He breaths, leaning his forehead against hers. So, this was who Eijiro talked about to Mina. Mrs. Kirishima couldn’t help overhearing her son’s conversations when passing by and had picked up bits and pieces. This woman was important to her son, so she was important to Mrs. Kirishima, as well.
“I’ll get you more water, Eijiro.” She murmurs, grabbing his cup as Y/N moves to sit next to Eijiro.
Now that the danger was passed, those two had lots to talk about.

Thin Walls (Au)
A/N this is an Au I found in a tumblr post. Basically what it is, is that the two share a wall and the walls are really thin and basically yeah just read it. They are both in college.
All Remus wanted to do was get in some studying before his final the next day, was that so much to ask?
Apparently it was, because that stupid neighbor would not shut up.
This wasn’t the first time that his had ever happened, actually. Ever since the one on the other side of the wall had moved in, there was never any peace and quiet. Ever. Remus wasn’t sure the other even went to class. Tennant 4A seemed to always be awake, and always be home. Blasting music, holding parties, playing video games on full blast. And because of these bloody thin walls, Remus could hear all of it.
At the moment, Remus was trying to study for his child psychology exam. Key word being trying. He could hear the tv blasting on the opposite side of the wall his bed was pressed up against, since that was the only wall that it would fit against. He heard the sound of swords clashing or something, along with a deep narrative voice saying “fatality”, and a string of cuss words that weren’t coming from the game.
Remus banged his fist against the wall once to catch the others attention, then shouted, “Keep it down in there!” In response, the other just turned up the volume.
Remus rolled his eyes, deciding to go study in the living room instead. Maybe he could grab some coffee as well. Ever since Tennant 4A had moved in a few weeks ago, Remus had not been getting very much sleep.
Remis picked up his textbook and notes, heading down to the living room. He carefully maneuvered around all of the precarious stacks of books that were everywhere. They filled up almost the whole apartment, actually. Remus headed to the kitchen to grab some coffee before heading to the living room.
This room was the worst of the lot. Or the best, depending on how you looked at that. Stacks of books covered nearly every part of the floor, other than a little path that headed to the kitchen, and another that headed to the hallway. There was no television, just an old, beat up love seat and a side table with a lamp. Remus took his place on the couch, getting set up for a night of studying. He was planning on pulling an allnighter, knowing that he needed to pass the exam that would be given the next day.
About thirty minutes in. Remus’s phone buzzed. He had forgotten to put it on silent, so he picked up the cell to turn it off, before seeing the number. He hit accept and put the phone to his ear. “Hello?”
“Is this Mr. Lupin?” a female voice asked.
“Yes,” Remus confirmed. His heart was racing. This might finally be it!
“We are calling in regards to your interview earlier this week for the internship here at St. Matthews Children's Hospital as a Child Care Specialist.” Remus heard her shuffle a few papers before she continued. “You’re interview went great, as we had expected from contacting you via email for these past few months.”
Remus held his breath, waiting for the final verdict. He had been pretty sure that everything had gone well. They had really sort of hit it off through the emails, and the interview had not been horrible, at least not that he had been able to see.
“But we regret to inform you that you have been turned down for the position. I’m sure you understand. We wish you better luck elsewhere.”
The lady hung up before Remus even had a chance to say anything.
Remus turned off his phone, staring down at his book for a second. He should have been expecting this. The same thing happened at every interview, although most did not say it so explicitly.
Remus just shook his head, as if trying to shake the thoughts away, and returned to his notes. It didn’t take long before he shut his book, though, all motivation to study having seeped out of him after the phone call. Maybe he should just head to bed. A good night's sleep before a test is just as important as studying, he reminded himself, although he wasn’t exactly convinced. He was just tired now.
Remus crawled into bed. He listened through the wall, and it was silent on his neighbors side. Meaning the other was probably at a party or something. Remus decided to take advantage of this. He buried his head into his pillow, and let the tears fall, a luxury that he did not allow himself often.
The tears quickly snowballed into something larger, until he was full on sobbing into his pillow. WHy did this have to happen to him? He didn’t deserve this. Remus was a good enough person, it’s not like it was karma. Then again, it’s not like karma actually exists. Life just does bad things to good people, and gives the bad people all of the passes. Although that didn’t mean that Remus couldn’t get upset about his rotten luck sometimes.
There was a light tapping on the wall. “You okay in there?” a soft voice said. Remus had never heard Tennant 4A speak like this. As if he actually cared about something other than irritating Remus and partying.
Remus quickly shut himself up, although the tears still fell. “I didn’t think you were home,” he said to the other.
“Well I am,” Tennant 4A replied, “I’m not always loud and obnoxious, you know. I still need to sleep sometimes.”
“Could have fooled me,” Remus muttered.
“That’s not the point,” the other said, “But seriously, what’s up? A breakup or something?”
“Not a breakup,” Remus said. He wished that it had just been a break up. That would have been so much easier to deal with than the fact that there was the possibility that he would never get his dream job that he had worked so hard for all of his life.
“Then what is it?” Tennant 4A asked.
“I just got denied another internship,” Remus said. He wasn’t sure why he was telling it to this stranger that he had never even seen face to face before. The same person who kept him up at night constantly with his loud music and “accidentally” banging things against the walls. But he continued. “Mostly for reasons that they shouldn’t be aloud to deny me for, you know?”
“Like what?” the other asked me.
“My appearance, mainly,” Remus said, “Paired with a prejudice against people with my disorder. They had told me that it wouldn’t be a problem, until they had seen me. It’s a bit of a long story.”
“Come on, 4B,” the other said, “You can’t just leave me on a cliffhanger like that. Besides, we’ve got all night.”
Remus rolled onto his back, looking up at the ceiling now. “You really want to hear this?” he asked, glancing over at the wall that separated the two.
“Yes, I do,” 4A said, and Remus could hear the sincerity in his voice.
“Alright then,” Remus said, taking a deep breath, “Here goes. I never really lived in the best parts of town, you know? Like I’ve always lived in this town, but in the very bad parts.”
“Yeah, I know where you’re talking about,” 4A said, his voice urging Remus to go on and get to the story. So he did.
“Well, one night when I was four, almost five, I was walking back home alone. I don’t remember where I walk walking from. That part is kind of fuzzy. But it was starting to get really dark, so I took the short way home. I knew to never take that place because of Melinda, the single mom who owned a guard dog. Despite what everyone thinks, it was not a pitbull. It was a german shepard. But that’s besides the point. It was getting dark, and I decided to just go down that road instead of taking the twenty minute detour. Being out in those parts after dark is almost as dangerous as passing by Melinda’s house. I guess I just figured that the dog would be asleep.”
Remus took a break at that, needing to collect himself for a moment. These were not exactly the happiest memories of his life. He didn’t know why he was talking to the other, spilling out all of his traumatic memories. He figured that it was probably because he had never met his neighbor. Gave all of this a sense of anonymity, almost like he wasn’t even talking to a real person.
“The dog wasn’t a sleep, was it?” 4A asked, his voice soft, bringing Remus back to reality.
“No, it wasn’t,” Remus continued, “When I passed by the dog attacked me. Melinda took her sweet time calling the dog off, and then she just left me there, bleeding in the middle of the street. A passerby called 911, but the only person that would help me was this homeless man. He sat with me and he held me together while we waited for the ambulance, saying sort of calming things to try and keep me from freaking out. If it weren’t for him doing that, I would have died. But we found out later that the man had AIDs, and in the process of saving my life he had passed it on to me. So I came out of it with the AIDs and some pretty nasty scars, mainly on my face.”
There was a silence on the other side of the wall, and Remus was starting to get worried sick while waiting for a reaction. Eventually Remus said, “Hey, did I lose you? My story didn’t bore you to sleep, did it?”
“No, no it didn’t, I’m still here,” he said, “I just- wow. And they didn’t give you the internship because of that?”
“Can’t have me scaring the kids, now can we?” Remus said, his voice a little bitter, before going back to usual, “It’s fine though. I’ve got another interview set up tomorrow, so I guess I can just hope that one goes well.”
“Well, I’ll let you get to sleep then,” 4A said, “Good luck on your interview tomorrow.”
“Thanks,” Remus said, and they both said goodnight before heading to sleep.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The next day Sirius was getting ready to head to class. He was locking up his door when the door to 4B opened and the person living there, the person that Sirius had heard crying the night before, stepped out. He was wearing a sweatshirt, the hood pulled down low over his face to avoid being seen by other people.
“Hey,” Sirius said, stuffing his keys into his pocket, “Heading to your interview?”
The other seemed surprised, but quickly regained himself and tugged his hood farther down to cover his face even more. “Yeah, I am.”
“What’s with the hood?” Sirius couldn’t help but ask.
“I told you a bit about it last night,” Remus said, “If my appearance is enough to disqualify me for an internship, it’s not exactly something that I want to be showing around.”
“Don’t be ridiculous,” Sirius said, and tugged down the others hood before he could react.
All Sirius noticed was that the boy had the most beautiful eyes.

Come To Morning by emilyenrose
He figured it was natural, kind of—well, not natural, but he and Steve spent a lot of time together, and Steve didn’t get so much attention from girls, which was a crying shame because he was a good guy and a girl could do a lot worse. But it meant maybe Steve got a bit confused, because sometimes he would look at Bucky with this look. This bright, astonished look, like he was seeing something so good he couldn’t quite believe it was real. It made Bucky squirm inside, a little.

to feel for the first time by lord_is_it_mine
I love him, Bucky thinks. I'll burn for it one way or another, but I love him.
The thought blooms inside him, attaches itself to the base of his heart and tethers him to Steve's side. He tries to remember a time when he didn't feel like this. He can't. That's it. This feeling isn't new. But the admission to himself in the simplest of terms- that's new. And it hasn't hit him yet, just how difficult it's going to be, to love someone you can never have, because he has Steve for now, at least in every way he's allowed to have him.
He has to believe that it'll be enough.

Schrödinger's Romance by The_StonedSoldier
"It could be a relationship, it could not be. You can assume either until you see for sure the results."
We all know those moments. Those moments when your family all gathers around you and asks "So, do you have a boyfriend yet?". Bucky knows these moments all too well and, quite frankly, he's sick to death of them. Unfortunately, being a 21 year old college student makes it harder for him to come up with excuses, and with Christmas coming up he needs to think of a way out fast. A chance encounter with a stranger through an old library textbook could just be the kind of miracle he needs to make it through the holidays with his last shreds of sanity intact.

Aim Towards The Sky by littleblackfox
Steve gets to his feet, taking the two steps to the container. He lifts the latches and pops the seal. Luis unholsters his second favourite gun and points it at the crate with a nervous whine. “Steve, what the hell are you doing?” Natasha hisses. Steve glances at her. “Lets see what we’ve got.”
[Mature] [ 57,709 Words] [Read on AO3 here]
Take Apart Your Bones and Put 'em Back Together by die_traumerei
It seems so simple: Bucky is captured by SHIELD and brought to a facility in upstate New York.
Of course, it isn't. No one knows who is going to wake up in that bed, and what that will eventually mean for Steve Rogers, SHIELD, the Avengers, or Bucky himself.
A story about a man putting himself back together despite what everyone expects of him. A story about Steve finding a measure of peace, a story about a broken-up institution. A story about three women who made a magical place where not just Bucky can heal.
A story featuring a load of OC's, BAMF Bucky Barnes, an older but not particularly wiser Steve Rogers, fallible Sam Wilson who is no less perfect for that, and, eventually, two nonagenarians gettin' it on in a world they pretty well transformed, between the two of them.

So Bright by lemonoclefox
"You want me," Magnus says, "to pretend to be your boyfriend." He sounds wholly unimpressed, and Alec has a moment of panic when he hears it out loud. "Yes," he says. "Temporarily." "You want me to fake date you," Magnus says flatly. It's not even a question, but more a way of really driving the point home about how dumb the idea is. "Pretty much.". Magnus narrows his eyes. "You do realize that this never works out well in movies, right?" he says. "Ever." Alec feels a distinct sense of embarrassment creep up now. "Look, I―" "Ever."
-
Alec has come out, but that doesn't stop his parents from their continuous attempts to set him up with a nice shadowhunter girl. So, what better way to finally get them off his back, than to say he has a boyfriend? Problem solved. Except they now apparently want to meet this guy, who doesn't exist. Thankfully, Magnus Bane -- who encouraged Alec to come out in the first place, and whose silent crush on Alec is just as bad as Alec's crush on him -- is more than happy to help. Even if the night doesn't end up going entirely as planned.
