Okay I’ve never asked on tumblr but I just found your page and I’m OBSESSED!!! I want to get/make a Vivarium/bioterrarium for millipedes and isopods and I can’t WAIT!! Please please if you have any advice at all, I’d love to hear it! Where to get supplies, the buggies themselves, how to handle them, what do you do if they get sick, how much space to they need for how many there are, etc? Your buggy babies are so cute!!

I ramble kinda a lot so I'll put this under a read more.

For advice I'm still very much a novice when it comes to keeping but I'll tell you what I can!

For tanks I got my glass ones second hand or ones made my the store I buy used to buy my millipedes from, you'd be surprised how cheap you can get a nice big one! For Acrylic THESE are the ones I've had the best luck with not warping BUT they sometimes have kinda blurry parts on the plastic, but still I'd say good for the price if you can't afford glass. I tape up some of the ventilation holes to keep more moisture in.

For soil that ISN'T bought from a specialist stores(Sometimes I can't afford it) I use Peat free compost, paired with leaves and rot wood I buy off ebay stores that sell bug/reptile products, I mix them together with some water and leave them in a tub for 1 week to soften up the leaves. Some people go out and get their own leaves and wood but I'm not really in an area to do that so I can't give advice on that. It's important to keep it moist BUT NOT WET!

Heat mat! You want one to put on the SIDE of the tank and not under it, just one would be enough. I have a timer plug for mine so they're on a few hours a day on and off all day. If you REALLY wanna spoil them then I've seen a few people use reptile headlamps.

For moss and plants I again just buy it off ebay in sheets and give it a cheap over to make sure there are no hitchhikers on it before I put it in the tank. It needs watered and looked after for a while for it to take to the tank. Carpet moss is mostly for looks while sphagnum moss is used to keep moisture in areas and should be water/sprayed often. I have a little fern plant in my tank rn they seem to leave alone. I know a lot of people use fake plants as well for decor!

You should make a point to put a little temp and humidity monitor in your set-ups as well. The special reptile ones can be expensive so I just but the little ones you put in rooms and have had no issues with them.

Don't forget to give them hides! Cork wood/bark or coconut shells are nice and cheap. You can also use man made items just make sure they can handle the moisture and aren't made of anything toxic to your new friends. Also give them little sticks and things to climb up on. Just make sure the lid is secured so they can't escape.

For food I just use kitchen scraps like carrot peel, cucumber, apples and melon, give them a cuttlefish bone and some dried tiny shrimps in small amounts once a week or so, but you can also use fish flacks instead. But remember! Leaf litter and rot wood is meant to be their main diet for most species.

For the millipedes I would recommend Ivory millipedes as a good starter one, they're lovely in colour and are often up top, hardy as well, and usually you can get them captive bred which I've had much higher survival rates with vs wild caught. For each species you'll have to look up their needs yourself though, there isn't a 100% catch all set up for all species. Woodlice/isopods I'd suggest dairy cows as they're lovely and also very easy to get a hold of. I will say species of Armadillidium(roly poly/pill bugs) are my fave and I'm very biased and want 500 of them.

For handling just be gentle! I wear gloves in a lot of my videos but that because I've incredibly sensitive skin and can't stand soil under my nails. The worse they can do to you is them staining your skin(not all species), or give you a little nibble. Make sure if you're handling to wash your hands off BUT be careful what hand soaps you use! Wash hands after as well some can be toxic to bugs from what I've heard.

For tank size hmm that's hard, usually you want soil as deep as their body but that can be hard, 10-15cm is what I aim for my BIG boys and 7-10cm for my others, deeper is better but sometimes you'll also just never see them again! You'll want a tank at least a few times longer than your pets body or at least big enough for them to filly stretch out in if you get really big millipedes like giants and a 120cm tank is just kinda unrealistic haha.

I do not have a lot of advice for if they get sick sadly, it's kinda of hard to tell honestly and usually when you can it's too late. I would just say don't beat yourself up too much if some pass away sometimes bugs just do that especially if you don't know their history.

Where to get them depends on where you're from and what you want. A ton of reptile/specialist stores will have wild caught which isn't great but they will have the largest range of species and usually also sell all the stuff you need to tank care of them. Ebay is where I've gotten most of my captive bred and I just message people if I've questions about their bugs there.

You always noticed him, I mean how could anyone not. The way Hunter carried himself was one of the things you liked most about him. The way his eyebrows always had a slight furrow to them. You closed your locker and grabbed your music binder and walked over to your next class: orchestra. That's where you met Emily, unlike others you find her wittiness to be more charming than aggressive. Sitting next to Emily gave you an excuse to ask subtle questions about Hunter. While she would be telling a story about band practice you would throw a question out like: Is Hunter's room big? or, What kind of snake does he have? As far as you could tell she never caught on. As you walk in you see her tuning her cello, you grab a stand and make your way over to your seat.

"I could see how you think that but I mean, I've known Kevin forever. Even before he was into metal and we never had problems finding things to talk about or relate to each other. He said, looking away from the road for a moment to look at you. It made you blush when he implied that he might want to date you. 

"I've always thought you were cute. Even before 7th grade." You said, tucking a strand of hair behind your ear. He looked over at you, scared to meet his gaze you just smiled down at your purse.

Once you guys pulled into the Drive-In, you tried to pay but Hunter ignored you and paid the 10 dollars. It was pretty much completely dark outside, the sun barely peeking over the skyline. The entire car park was full of teenagers. Some sat outside their car in lawn chairs while others were tucked away waiting for the movie to drown out background noise. Every once and a while a puff of smoke would leave the car windows. After you both went down to the snack bar to get a couple things; some candy and a cherry slushie. Once you both got back into the car there was a bit of an awkward silence. 

"I don't know if you smoke," you say while digging through your purse to grab your pen, "but I have a really nice pen." You finish before taking a small puff. He laughed and shook his head and looked out the window for a moment. 

"I've smoked before but it's been a while." He said. You unbuckle your seatbelt and turn so you are facing him. You hold down the button on the pen and take a bigger hit. After the cloud came out of her mouth and filled the car you took a sip of your slurpee. The cup had so much condensation on it that it was dripping onto your thighs. You switch your position on the seat so that you are on your knees. You lean over the middle console slightly and put the pen to his lips, pressing the button to heat up the coil. My point is that when I saw you in the music room learning and progressing with guitar I was enamored with you. I still think it's impressive how fast you picked it up. And what was more impressive was the fact that you had no idea how good you were. Or how gifted your mind was to not only learn to play but also how to write music. I think that's when I really decided that I had a serious crush on you. When I realized the deepness of your mind reflected your appearance.” You said taking a hit hearing the coil crack and pop as it warmed up. More so than any sexual encounter. He even opened up about his dad which was surprising to you. Neither of you noticed when the movie ended until cars started moving and obnoxiously honking their horns at cars that couldn't move. 

"I'm sad the movie is over because now I don't have any excuse to keep you here." He said gripping on to your thighs is a bit harder than before. You smiled and blew your hit into his face, he playfully took a bite out of the smoke. 

"I wouldn't need any excuse to want to stay." You said kissing him before getting back into your passenger seat. He laughed and started the car before focusing on getting them out of the crowded parking lot. The drive home was filled with content silence. You held his hand as he steered with the other, playing with the calluses on his finger.

"I'm really grateful that I got the courage to talk to you. I know this is like our first date.. or whatever but I just wanted to say I really like you and hope we can keep seeing each other in a more serious way." Hunter said, pulling your hand to his mouth to give it a small kiss. You blush hard and nod you head in agreement. 

"I'm just happy you feel the same way I do." You said smiling as he pulled into your drive in. He got out quicker than he did before to open your car door. You laughed and took his hand when he offered it to you to get out. 

"I'll see you soon, yeah?" You asked before leaning in to give him a quick kiss. 

"Count on it." He said as you walked towards your front door. Once you got into the house you saw your two younger sisters staring out the window. 

"He didn't drive away until after you closed the door!" One of them giggled,

"Yeah AND he opened the door for her to get out! That's so romantic! Just like in The Fosters!" They both ran off giggling gossiping with one another. It took you an hour to wipe the grin and matching blush off your face before heading to bed.

Online Lottery for Investigations Collection Merchandise

This is the 14th post in the Ace Attorney Investigations Collection Countdown: 67 days left until release!

Today's topic: the Cap Kuji Online Lottery for Investigations Collection Merch in Japan!

It’s Japan-exclusive sadly, as most of the Ace Attorney merch and goodies are, but I still want to talk about it because the items you can get are awesome. (Though this kind of lottery is pretty horrible for actually getting any specific ones…) Hopefully, after the lottery closes and the prizes are shipped there’ll be opportunities to get this stuff for a reasonable prize from resellers in the West. I’d really really love to have some of these!

There are six different prize tiers and sometimes multiple possible items in each tier:

S Prize: Mega Big Capcorom Miles Edgeworth Plush – So cute! Yeah, I totally get why this is the number 1 prize. I’d definitely love to have this. Maybe they’ll release some other kind of plushes of the main characters in the future, I’d buy them immediately!

A Prize: Sealing Stamp with the image of the Prosecutor’s Badge – This looks beautiful! Not sure what I’d do with it other than admire it so this isn’t the highest priority for me but it’s definitely neat. I’ve always loved the design of the Prosecutor’s Badge (much better than the Attorney’s Badge).

B Prize: Towels in the form of Kay’s scarf and Shi-Long’s scroll – I don’t know what Shi-Long would think of the idea of people drying themselves off with something that looks like the scroll of his revered ancestor 😅 But damn it, I want it! Such a creative idea. You could even „unroll“ it like he always does 😄

C Prize: Acrylic stands of six possible characters (Miles, Kay, Shi-Long, Justine, Sebastian and Ray) – Can I have all of them, please? I love figurines! Okay, if I bought them by themselves, I’d probably only take Miles, Shi-Long and Sebastian but they do make a nice set, don’t they? Too bad Gumshoe isn’t part of it, I’d love one for him too. (And why is Ray in this one but he’s missing from the Checkmate Set figurines who had all of Gumshoe, Franziska and Gregory instead? Make up your mind who your important characters are, come on! 😂) They all come with different speech bubbles, too: Miles has “Objection!” (obviously), Kay has “Eureka!” (even though Miles and Gregory are the only ones who use this but I guess nothing else would’ve fit better either), Shi-Long has “Not so fast!”, Justine has “Overruled!”, Sebastian has “Take that!” (this fits so well for some reason 😄) and Ray has “Hold it!”, all in Japanese, of course. Their stands look like chessboards with their respective names written on it and a different colour pattern for each character. Such a great look!

D Prize: Ringed notebooks with five possible designs – These look so pretty! Really great design choices too! Kay’s Promise Notebook is the obvious one and I also love the Yatagarasu Calling Card one and the one with Miles’ silhouette and the puzzle pieces. My favourites are the remaining two though: The one with Miles large on the cover (including name scrawl and everything) and the Prosecutor’s Badge on the back (the gold frame is a particularly nice touch!) and the one with the character images like on the original game covers just even better! Miles and Gumshoe are in different poses and Sebastian and Gregory are completely new additions. Perfect choice of characters and it looks awesome! I want these so badly!

E Prize: Tin badges of ten possible characters (Miles, Kay, Shi-Long, Justine, Sebastian, Ray, Franziska, Gumshoe, Gregory and Shih-na) – Wow, that really is everyone you could possibly count as a main character in the Investigations games! Nice! I’d mainly want Miles, Shi-Long, Sebastian, Franziska, Gumshoe and Gregory but I’d love to have all of them as well. They all have different colours in their backgrounds, too: Miles has this purple-burgundy shade (like the colour of the Investigations logo), Kay has a rosy tone (it looks similar to the colour of her shirt and hair tie, I guess?), Shi-Long has light-green (for whatever reason? I’d have given him yellow or a golden shade like the accents on his shirt), Justine has red (fits to the accents on her dress), Sebastian has orange (nice compromise to not have red again but still keep it somewhere between the shades of his hair and his jacket), Ray has light-blue (like the colour of his tie), Franziska has a darker blue (she’s commonly associated with this silver-blueish tone so it fits well), Gumshoe has green (like his coat), Gregory has dark red (like his tie) and Shih-na has pink (like her eyes and the accents on her dress). Bit of a weird colour choice sometimes but they look great anyway.

So sad that you can’t specifically buy what you want out of this (and in the West too). Here’s hoping there’ll be some way to get these in the future!

Summer Recap: July 2024 ♡

Hello my dear Vampunnies!

Here is the next part of my summer recap blogs. This time I'll be covering my visit to Los Angeles for Anime Expo 2024!

This post includes my experience with working at AX for the first time, my favorite parts of the con this year, visiting WeHo and Little Tokyo, & more!

July 2024

AX 2024 - Day 0 (July 3)

I decided to attend AX totally last minute, so on Day 0 I had to pick up my badge from the venue-- the Los Angeles Convention Center. It was actually a pretty quick and easy process, and I liked being able to snap a couple pics of the outside of the venue before all the crowds arrived the next day. As a huge Dragon Ball fan, I personally loved seeing Sparking! ZERO having a giant ad this year! Zenless Zone Zero ads were also present around the area, and really fit the LA vibe.

Since I wanted to make the most of the day, I decided to visit WeHo with a friend! We went to Bottega Louie for lunch, which is honestly one of my favorite restaurants in LA. Their Italian cream soda is so good, especially when dealing with the summer heat! This time I got the vanilla one~

Lunch for the day was the carbonara with chicken, and I shared a pepperoni pizza and a side of portobello fries with my friend! It was so delicious! (I'm getting hungry while reminiscing about this...) For dessert we shared a Celebration cake, which is a vanilla cake with cotton candy mousse, strawberry marmalade, and topped with vanilla macarons! I also purchased a box of macarons to eat at home later, because of course I did. Truly a decadent meal, but I really wanted to treat myself since I was in the area for AX and knew I'd be busy with other things soon!

Before heading back for the day, I also visited the Glossier store which is always a must when I'm in the area. If you haven't been to a Glossier store before, it's a very cute and aesthetic experience, because well, it's Glossier. I ended up getting a Lavender Balm Dot Com, since I haven't bought one in so long. (Thank god they finally reverted back to the OG formula... if you know, you know.) Unfortunately we got there a little too late to get a drink at Alfred's, but there's always next time~

AX 2024 - Day 1 (July 4)

This year, I was hired by Sekai Project to work at their booth in the Exhibit Hall! Sekai Project works on the English localization for a lot of visual novels, such as Nekopara and Amairo Chocolate! They were selling a lot of cute goods this year, including the Chocola and Vanilla Hangers, and Amairo Chocolate tapestries and acrylic stands!

I arrived at the venue around 6:30 am to help set up their booth, and seeing exhibition hall quiet and chill before the crowds was pretty neat! My boss was really nice and let me roam around after for a bit to check out some of the booths I wanted freebies from before the crowds rolled in ^^ Also, as my "tutorial" sale on the POS, I was able to buy a Chocola hanger ahead of time as I knew those would be a hot commodity~

It was honestly a really fun experience, I really enjoyed interacting with customers and talking about the games! Actually, the first customer of the entire con was a father who ran to our booth and had a long shopping list from their daughter! It was really sweet and I'm glad I was able to make sure he got everything for her~ Another customer that made an impression on me was someone who bought one of each Amairo Chocolate acrylic stand, and while I was ringing them up, we also chatted about Shiratama's art and Jewelry Hearts Academia, which was pretty awesome.

After my shift was over, I visited the ATLUS booth because I wanted to get the giant Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance totebag! The booth activity was taking a picture with their Qaditsu cosplayers, who looked absolutely amazing! I've attached a photo of the cosplayers from the official Twitter since I don't want to post my personal one, but it was a really great experience!! I also picked up a Jack Frost mobile accessory set from the ATLUS shop as it was part of their Japan imports for the ATLUS 35th anniversary~

Before going home, I passed by Philz Coffee and got a Mint Mojito iced coffee which was a great pick me up after a long day!

AX 2024 - Day 2 (July 5)

One of the highly sought after freebies this year was definitely this Firefly/SAM giant totebag. Of course, Honkai: Star Rail being the hit game that it is, plus Firefly being a fan favorite, a lot of people wanted it. I really wanted to get one for my friend, who is a Firefly oshi, and wanted to do the stamp rally for the other freebies for myself. So, I lined up super, super early just to be in front of the line into the Entertainment Hall where the Hoyoverse booth was located.

Now, for reference, the hall opened at 9 AM. The line for the Hoyoverse booth capped at 9:03 AM. Unfortunately, the staff did not respect the line, and gave away all their bags to the blob of a crowd that was pooling around their booth that were absolutely feral over this thing. Despite not being able to get the bag, I figured I might as well stick around for the booth activities anyway since I was practically at the front of the line.

The first activity was writing a sticky note of your "dream" related to Penacony or something, and I think I just wrote E6 Acheron LOL. The next activity was taking pictures with the March 7th and Stelle cosplayers who were super cute! And the next one was voting in some sort of character popularity contest with the "Stellar Jade" they would give you. Acheron had the most Stellar Jades in her jar. (slay)

After the booth activities, I wanted to purchase some Honkai Impact 3rd goods after, but I guess this year it was also being sold with the Star Rail stuff... which the line for merch also capped.... soooo I was like, okay, I'm just going to go around for a bit instead and try my luck around noon.

One of my other friends requested I buy them a few things from the Cygames booth, so I got that shopping done, and stuck around to play the Granblue Fantasy: Relink demo (Lancelot my beloved <3) as well as the Uma Musume: Pretty Derby - Party Dash demo with one of my friends who found me! Cygames had a lot of cute freebies, and I swear to god, I know nothing of the horse girls, but the freebies are so dang cute it actually makes me want to get into it LOL.

Some other highlights for me was seeing the NIS America booth and saw a very early build of the new Phantom Brave game and Reynatis! I also loved the Kotobukiya Bishoujo exhibit with all their different figures throughout the years. (Which by the way, I have the new Sadako one preordered~) I think I also visited the Blue Archive and Arknights booths to pick up things for friends around this time too.

Around noon, I was back at the merch line for Hoyoverse, and thankfully, I was able to get in! Now this is where I feel rather lucky. I ended up getting an adorable badge set of the Herrscher trio, which I feel like was dead stock in some Mihoyo warehouse. I also got the very last set of Mei's Stigmata badges, which may be out of print? I'm not sure.

As I was in line to check out, the person in front of me asked the cashier for a Firefly/SAM bag. And he was able to get one?! So I also asked when I was up front and she was super nice and also gave me one. So, it all worked out! I'm glad I decided to spend money that day lmao.

With a skip in my step, I spent the rest of the day pretty leisurely with my bestie who I met up with after. We did the Persona 3, Project Sekai, and some other random booth activities to pass the time for an exciting panel I was looking forward to~ Oh yeah, I also came across Nerissa Ravencroft's acrylic stand at a Hololive booth, and decided to pick it up since it has been on my wish list for some time, and it was there, so might as well.

So, what was the panel that I was looking forward to? Well, seeing Aniplex's Twisted Wonderland talk show with Silver's seiyuu, AKA MY FAVE TWST CHARACTER AND MY #1 FAVORITE MALE SEIYUU, Nobunaga Shimazaki!! He was so cute and sweet in person, I'm really glad I was able to make it!! ^w^

After that, I briefly went on a mission to Artist Alley to pick up something for another friend, as well as visit one of my favorite artists, BOMHAT, to purchase some stickers for myself! I have a few of their goods from a previous AX, and really liked them so I had to buy more! And with that, Day 2 complete!

... Or so I thought. I had plans with my bestie to cry about how stressful AX was over dinner. We were both exhausted after Day 2 and were really looking forward to getting food together. One of my other friends who was driving my car for the day went to Little Tokyo early, and was going to pick us up when we were ready to go meet up for dinner. Well, come to find out, my car battery died in the Little Tokyo parking garage... thankfully, my bestie's mom is super nice and picked us both up and dropped me off in Little Tokyo to figure out the situation.

I am so very lucky to have such sweet friends, as a different friend of mine offered to swing by after work to help jump start my car. While waiting for them to arrive, I got dinner to soothe my weary soul after such a crazy day.

While my friends were jump starting my car, a kind stranger also came by to help make sure they were doing it correctly, and all was well afterwards! I was able to drive home safe and sound!

AX 2024 - Day 4 (July 7)

For the final day of AX, there was only one more thing I really wanted to do: visit the NIKKE booth! I haven't mentioned it yet for a reason-- it was also a very crowded booth. It was managed a little better by having a virtual queue... However, to get into that virtual queue, you had to be there at the very beginning of the day to check in. It was pretty hectic with everyone shoving each other, trying to scan the QR code from one of the staff's clipboards, but I successfully got in!

While waiting for my turn, I went back to the Project Sekai booth because I really wanted to do more freebie card pulls trying to get Ena and Toya. I ended up being super lucky and getting both of them!! Afterwards, I also played the demo for Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO, which is a game I am so hyped for!

I returned shortly after to finally do the NIKKE booth activities. The booth was themed after the in-game summer event Beauty Full Shot! The first activity was of course, making sure you followed the game on social media. Next was a bean bag toss themed around fighting against the Raptures, which was pretty cute. Then you could take a photo with the cosplayers, which I opted to have this really cute Viper cosplayer (LoveHimeKing) pose with my little Alice acrylic block I had with me.

Sadly, since I got there Day 4, they sold out of the bigger freebie prizes. But, I still got the commemorative giant gift bag featuring Crown and Modernia! I love those two, so I'm not mad at all~ I also got a little blind bag magnet with Dorothy, which is super cute, and I actually have her displayed on my magnet board on my desk right now!

And as my personal tradition, I got celebratory In-N-Out for surviving another anime convention. This is like the most unaesthetic photo I'll ever post, but it's the proof of my victory!!

Post-AX Shenanigans

Later in July, once all the tourists have gone home, and I was rested from the hectic Anime Expo season, I went back to LA to properly visit Little Tokyo!

Before my activities for the day, I passed by one of my favorite bakeries, Okayama Kobo, for brunch~ I got a yakisoba-pan and my favorite drink from them, the banana creme matcha latte!

After brunch, I visited Sora Gumi's Little Tokyo store, as they had a NIKKE pop-up with a summer themed photo booth. You got to shoot a photo with your summer event Nikke of choice, so I picked my favorite of them, Sakura! I also brought my silly Alice plushie with me to take photos with. It was a really cute experience!

And lastly, I had a reservation with a friend for the Akiba Maid War pop-up Maid Cafe! I remember watching the anime when it first came out, and really enjoyed it with how ridiculous it was (in a good way). I totally had to come to this pop-up!

The Oinky Doink Cafe theme was well implemented-- instead of the usual 'moe moe kyun' fare we did some incantations with the syllables of 'tontokoton' to remove the poison that rival maid cafes put in our sodas or something. Just another day at the Oinky Doink Cafe, really.

We also got ice cream topped with a cookie with Ranko on it. I couldn't bear to eat her face so I tried to just eat around her! >.< Overall I had a great experience (shoutout to Maid Aki) and am happy we're getting more fun pop-ups out here.

And that was my Anime Expo experience in July! If you've never been to an Anime Expo before, I hope my war story gave you a glimpse of some of the craziness of that anime convention. When it comes to AX, you just learn to love to hate it, and hate to love it.

tbh I havn't really been able to nail a voice-claim/hc down for Button. Though I def think he would have a more masculine-sounding voice, but with some sort of quick to it (like being raspy or squeaky) the only thing I know for sure is he needs like, a loser white guy voice.... if that makes literally any sense

also I think they have the vibe of a character whos eng and jp voices are very different but somehow both work equally very well (like calcifur and meowth, both of those have very different directions taken with their voices but both work in the same way somehow??)

ummm some potential candidates are Charlie Day, Jack McBrayer, maybe Jason Ritter? Daniel thrasher has never voice acted but he's def a candidate

for jp something similar to either Nate's pkmn masters jp voice, or like, something very raspy and mascot-character esque

14. 🍱: If your OC had a dish themed around them at the Kirby Cafe, what would it be?

hmm I'm not sure? this isn't really my area of expertise: here's some random ideas tho~

-apple pie flavored waffle? shaped like a star of course

-little button shaped sugar cookies?

-half chocolate half vanilla cupcake? to represent the angel+demon thing, combine it with the sugar cookies maybe? have two of them decorated like his eyes mayhaps?

-apparently there is a way to make drinks glow in the dark but it requires a black light so dead end :(

-mac n cheese, idk how to make it cute but it needs to be involved

-wait! idea: pretzel shaped like a lyra?

15. 🧸: If your OC had any merchandise themed around them, what would it be?

now this one is actually right in my area of expertise I love toy design

for some less simple things:

one of those little craft kits that gives you the supplies to make something simple like a felt plush sewn together with yarn, you could sew a little small star-button billow, and a little kirby plush and the aesthetic is all Button themed. Or maybe a a friendship bracelet craft kit? there's a lot of potential craft kits what with being from patch land

or maybe a merry magoland themed re-ment set that features a little Button working a booth

or you know those little keychain plushies?

dude I could design these ALL DAY

hell I've thought a lot about button merch just with what I could feasibly make happen. Button acryllic charms? Button buttons? a Button themed candy bag keychain? those keychains with the little magnet heart accesories? I could do that with Button and characters he's shipable with. standee with tail wag? glow in the dark standee and the stand part is a magic circle? button enamel pins? button ACRYLIC PINS?

25. ⭐️: If your OC got their own spinoff game what would it be about and what would the gameplay be like?

a few ideas!

-epic yarn style! the story line is Button learns about Kirby's Magic sock and decides to visit home~

-game where you sail across the sea!!! Meta Knight wants you to collect a special flower that only grows on this one island, he's too busy with meta knight stuff to get it himself. So he has sent Button on this fetch quest. i guess you could make it into a platformer, but maybe it could be like a minigame collection? that would involve things like puzzle games to figure out navigation. or upkeep/tidying around the boat. maybe there could be 'events', like finding a waddle dee lost at sea and bringing them home. or needing to fix the boats engine

-prequel game of one of Button's journey's during angst-era. platformer but with a lot of puzzle aspects implemented

-if you wanted a more epic quest with co-op modes and all maybe Button caught wind of some powerful magic source and is seeking it in hopes of restoring his Halo, and of course theres a positive message in the end where no Button doesn't get his halo back but he got his Self worth back or smth. My April 2024 toy haul got here three days ago! I'm super happy with the Sasuke Chougekisen Figuarts Zero figure. Mine unfortunately has a misplaced left eye, but it is an inexpensive figure, so I guess the factory errors will be there, even if it is slightly more than an average prize figure. Ironically, I've rarely encountered many prize figures that have factory paint erros -- I own a bunch of multiples for most Sasuke ones, although I haven't unboxed many, the ones that I have don't have any sizable paint app mistakes. Just my very first Masterlise Sasuke with the rinnegan eye had a major eye misplacement -- wihci really sucked, because he was so freaking expenisve for a prize figure! I have still to fix that eye. Still, I am happy with how this figure looks in person. I feel the boxes are too big and not justifiably so, for the size of the base and figure overall. The huge box just makes s/h from Japan that much more expensive, and it really has me frothing at the mouth… lol! I hate larger than life boxes for tinier figures, when they could have easily fit them plus the base in a much smaller box. DX I don't know when I'll be able to ship my second one from Japan, but I hope it doesn't have the eye misplacement as well.

I love the Sephiroth keychain! It's so much larger than I thought it would be and has a nice weight to it (I'm not going to use it, I don't use keychains, let alone "collectible" ones). Of course I love the Sasuke acrylic stand, I wish I could stop hoarding those... I'm also super happy with the tiny Pripra Lady Torso plastic model, it's super adorable IRL. I'm only sad I didn't get a second one to actually build. I find these tiny model kits super cute in their packaging (as the hoarder that I am), it makes me not want to remove them from their packaging to actually build. I know, I suck! DX I've finally got the "B" version of Kaworu the plug suit Q Posket figure. I own the student uniform "A" version as well, and one of my goals is to get the "B" version of that, one day as well! And a second one of whichever versions of the plug-suit so I can unbox one… yes, I am a shameless hoarder!!! The Taito Chokonto figures are adorable, I might get doubles so I can have them displayed -- I'm also tempted to get the other characters, despite me not collecting much other than a few random Kaito and Len ones. Grogu is just a bonus, because I'm not really into the series (I don't watch/follow any of that universe), I just thought those UDF looked adorable, and I got them for that reason alone.

Day 7 - I lost my shit when I saw that there was going to be a Mo Dao Zu Shi collab café. I sat up until about 2am trying to figure out how to make an account, use a VPN etc etc.... However obviously by this post you can see I was indeed successful and here we are!

The day started MUCH LESS stressful than the day before. Again this was at a Sweets Paradise so at least this time we didn't have the added stress of HOW DOES IT WORK. We made a plan of what we wanted and what we were going to do before we got in.

We headed there fairly early so we weren't running around like the day before, this one was located in Shinjuku. We found it super easy and had a look in the Bic Camera a few doors down to kill some time and then headed up.

We got in a little early and took our table. It was quite dark in there and it was located underground on the basement floor. There of course was lots of MDZS décor around where we were sitting. Matt didn't want anything on the menu so ordered a main for me and I ordered a dessert too for myself and we each got a drink. He then helped himself to the buffet which he enjoyed.

While waiting for the food I went to the shop and got some limited edition bits including a really cool acrylic stand pictured above.

My food came out and I had a Wei Wuxian spicy curry which although was cold it was tasty and had a kick to it. I then had Lan Wangji's dessert which was super tasty, it had wangxian bunnies made out of ice cream and the little house where they stole the chicken and THE BATH TUB SCENE ahhh it was so freaking cute.

I really enjoyed this café, and I loved that they had the actual suits for Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji on display too. They were beautiful.

Afterwards, I had plans to go to Harajuku and walk to Shibuya and do some shopping for the day. Unfortunately I miss judged how insanely busy it would be, and to be honest it was way too much. We did walk through Harajuku and I went to my fav anime shop there. But it was too much so we decided to leave quickly. And then we walked to Shibuya and went to the Donki, Animate and Mandarake there. It was just so busy and crazy as it was a Sunday, after this trip I would 100% not try any shopping at the weekend, it is honestly unbearable.

We manged to get a table quite quickly Ichiran and finally had a big bowl of ramen, where I ate 3 eggs cause I bloody love eggs. It was absolutely delicious and I enjoyed every bite. It ended up being fairly late when we headed back to Akihabara. I really enjoyed the café in the morning, but I did end up feeling like I had slightly wasted a day as the shops were so packed we spent most the day just walking. You live and learn I guess.

Day 16 of Building Elsa’s Ice Palace

I’m an idiot. I just realized I can just use the images from the posting to show you the interior. I can’t get in trouble for that lol.

Tada! Isn't it beautiful? Look at that beautiful fancy blue. You should see the wall paper up close, it's so royal and luxurious.

This is the living room. It's the first room you enter past the entryway. I was thinking a pretty ornate couch against the window and a TV stand on the wall across it and just making it a tv/gaming den.

This is the dining room. As you can see the fireplace is sealed off, but I think I can turn it into a mantle piece and make built in pretty display shelves. Or I can buy one of those pop out gas fire places. Either way, I have to figure out what dining table I should buy. I have three picked out: a dark, sparkling silver dining set, a clear acrylic dining set, or an ornate white luxury dining set! Maybe I'll leave it to a vote! :D

Here's the smaller room! Lookit what a cozy pink it is! :D It made me think of a rustic cottage-y kind of feel. I can totally do an Anna-themed room as a bonus! Or keep it generic and a splash of pink color in the blue theme. It also has it's own bathroom attached to it, which I personally love and think it gives another bit of privacy.

And this is the office space! :D Just imagine a dark rich wood computer desk and fancy chair, with another pretty painting across the way with a nice inspirational quote right next to it. What a nice place to do your work!

And here is the master bedroom! The pictures don't do it justice, the inside is super spacious and feels enormous when you walk in. Actually, all the rooms look smaller in the pictures now that I think about it...

I'm debating on what sort of bed and dressers I should put in. It will depend on what dining set I end up doing. There's a clear acrylic set I could do, or a white ornate luxury set- give it the real royal feel. Either way I want to bring everything together.

This was what I meant- with the right furniture I can either turn it into a cute bed and breakfast, or into a real royal getaway! But I can get into all that next post. I'm super excited that I'm much closer to closing the purchase now! :D

Anyway, I was looking up the listings on zillow when I found several "multi-family homes". Duplexes and small apartment buildings- for SALE! An actual chance to be a real landlord! What fun! :D (I say as if I actually have the energy and mental capacity for such a thing.) Problem is the upfront costs of course. It's still out of my price range. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ But if I had a separate building just for renting, my income level would definitely go up, and be much more reliable than an unpredictable airbnb type of deal.

But I guess I should focus on one thing at a time. As it is now I couldn't purchase one even if I wanted. (Edit: I asked my agent how the process works, and it's a conventional loan with 25% up front. Whoo boy.)

I looked up the renting laws in my area, and hypothetically even if I were to work an airbnb, I would need a business license and a short term rental permit. There's a bit of a process to it, but it's relatively simple. It would just take a month or two. As it is, there's still a few cosmetic repairs to the outside I would need to fix up before I was able to rent it out. So for now, I think I'll just get a roommate for a year while I fix up the house. Something simple like $400 for the room and full access to everything? They'd be more like a roommate than a tenant so that seems reasonable, right?

I'll think about it later. For now I just need to get the home inspection rescheduled and done.

 Starting this with the dragons don't have a genderbinary and think the whole concept is stupid so there was no pressure on any of them to be anything as kids. (except Laxus and Erik who grew up with humans)

Laxus:

Thought he was a cis guy for a long time because of his spermdonor's pressuring. He's a demiboy though, they/he. He doesn't like being called feminine as a descriptor at first, because people usually say it as feminine(deragotory), but that changes a bit as he gets older. he likes a lot of traditionally "feminine" things (painting nails, skirts, jewlery, thigh high socks (he thinks they're very comfortable) but he likes doing them in a very nb way if you know what I mean by that. (skirts+flannels type of deal)

Erik: 

Nonbinary, but he's never really been particular about it. He doesn't really lean one way or another. uses he/him and they/them equally. Has worn acrylics once. He liked them but damn do they get in the way. eyeliner sharp enough to cut you and smudged at the bottom. flannel shirt tied around the waste and tanktop underneath type of energy. Likes heels. He's already tall but platforms are fun. would chop wood in heels. Would bench press you in those same heels.

Wendy: 

demigirl, they/she. Loves being feminine and cute because it means no one is expecting it when she hits like a truck. Kitten pumps that have false bottoms with poisons inside type energy.(she got the poisons from Erik and she can heal all of them if people cooperate) can't stand having her nails painted. she bites the polish off. does her makeup to look more masculine sometimes so she can be feminine in the way that guys are feminine.

Gajeel: 

Genderfluid, They/them is always fine but sometimes he likes she/her or he/him too. You can tell by the way he does his hair every day if he has a preference. Sometimes she does intricate updos or just adds a bandana to hold it back. those are the days she feels the most feminine. sHe wears shinier piercings and does fancy things with her eyeliner. The days he leaves his hair just slicked back or all over the place are the days when he feels most masculine. Larger piercings, more symmetry to how they look, and thinner eyeliner.  He doesn't change much else about his appearance because he doesn't feel that he needs to be hyper feminine or hyper masculine to be himself.

Sting: 

nonbinary He'll fight you if you call him a man.All pronouns are fine, but they/them is prefered. His fashion is chaotic so as to confuse nosey people who want to know what binary gender they are as if there's only two. platforms and mesh croptops energy. Obnoxiously bright makeup and glitter as often as possible. Lip colors that no one ever uses. clothing colors as bright as he can make them.

Rogue: 

Nonbinary , but like the oposite to Sting. They/them and he/him Dark colors and goth looks, and not like the subtle goth looks either. Black contour and small pops of deep colors like crimson or navy. black demonia platforms with lots of buckles and black skinny jeans to match. massive decorative eyeliner and chokers with his pronouns on them. crimson and black corset over a band tshirt energy. One stripe of his hair is always temporarily dyed and braided in type energy. 

Natsu Dragneel: 

Genderqueer, All pronouns, he/she/they/it/neopronouns, doesn't matter. Gender is a spectrum and they're the whole fucking thing all at once. Feral energy. non-symmetrical clothing, but all matching colors. Feminine in the way guys are feminine and masculine in the way girls are masculine all at the same time. Long hair with an undercut and braids vibe. Skirts and thigh highs and doing ballet in black platform boots vibe. Would also kick your ass in the same outfit. Somehow graceful while causing utter chaos.

Caleb Widogast did not know his husband, Mollymauk Tealeaf, had an identical brother.

He didn't know his husband had two identical brothers.

He didn't know one of those identical brothers is on shore leave and was sitting on his couch. Not until he kissed him, anyway.

Basically a Modern AU where all of the tenants of the Tealeaf body are identical triplets!

Caleb dropped his satchel on the floor with a dull, heavy thunk. He tried to find it in him to care when one of the overtaxed buckles popped open and a pen, some student’s papers and a handful of crystals spilled across the hall rug. That could be a problem for tomorrow morning.

But for tonight he’d had a very, very long day. He’d had two seminars where none of his students had done the reading, a lab demonstration that had gone horribly wrong and made him smell like ammonia all day, he’d had to eat lunch on the train to make it to the bookshop on time only to find the day’s delivery was wrong and he’d ended up with hundreds of copies of a medical textbook that was very informative but probably weren’t going to sell very well. All in all it had been a pretty shit day and a burst buckle was not going to muscle its way in on top of all that.

Caleb had a very narrow, very selective list of what was going to be allowed in the rest of his day. And top of that list was finding his husband, slumping down next to him and pressing his face to the curve of his neck where the scent of his perfume was the strongest. Next on that list was letting his son sit on his lap and do that adorable thing he’d been doing lately where he rubbed his head all over his papa while babbling contentedly, almost like he was just telling Caleb about his day. Next was his daughter curling around his shoulders and purring loudly right next to his ear.

And that was about it, honestly. Maybe a cup of tea.

Caleb hung up his coat and scarf, both of them still dusted with drizzle from outside, kicking his shoes into the corner. He half considered going and putting his pyjamas on but that wasn’t on the list, he just needed to have Molly run his fingers through his hair to work the knots out of it and tell him everything was okay, that he was home now.

Molly was curled up on the sofa, the slightly tatty one with it back to the door. He had his hair loose, just pushed back from his face with a thin leather headband. It looked nice, Caleb made a vague mental note to tell him so.

“Hey,” Caleb leaned over the edge of the sofa, already smiling just from the closeness, “You would not believe the day I’ve had…”

He didn’t give his husband a chance to answer, just kissing him softly, catching his lips halfway through forming a word. Caleb melted into it, putting his hand to his face, stoking his thumb across a cheek that was slightly rougher than he remembered it being that morning.

Caleb froze, eyes snapping open.

He yanked himself backwards, face completely expressionless as he stared at this person he’d just kissed. This person who absolutely, definitely was not his Mollymauk.

That person grinned crookedly, “I think you’re still having it, Red.”

Whenever Caleb was confronted by sudden panic, his brain chose to cope with it by shutting down entirely, by going into some kind of distant stand-by mode like a computer overwhelmed by a virus and choosing to simply crash in response.

Which was probably why he responded to this stranger that looked exactly but not exactly enough like his husband, sitting on his sofa and who he’d just passionately, mistakenly kissed, by opening his mouth and saying, “You’re not on the list.”

The stranger’s lopsided grin didn’t fade, the same sharp teeth that lived in Mollymauk’s mouth flashing but a few of these were cracked, one entirely made out of dentist’s acrylic, like this person had been punched in the face a few times. They were also wearing black leathers mostly, a sleeveless tunic that billowed out into a coat, a tight white shirt underneath and close fitting pants. And the tattoos weren’t right, he had them for certain but the designs and placement were wrong, these were heavily done in stark black and showed mostly waves and coordinates and compasses. They looked like homemade stick and poke jobs. The jewellery wasn’t as heavy either, seaglass threaded onto leather and thin gold chains.

Not Mollymauk. Definitely not Mollymauk.

“You must be Caleb,” they chuckled knowingly, “Nice to finally meet you.”

Caleb was saved from having to think of where to go from there by footfalls on the creaky floorboards in the hallway and Mollymauk appearing in the doorway. His actual Mollymauk, he glanced up and down him and confirmed it- the heavy gems hanging from his horns, the bright flowing coat and high boots, the scars that littered his neck and collarbone, the stretch marks that peeked between the waist of his leggings and his crop top.

What threw Caleb for a moment was the slightly harried, slightly exasperated expression on his face. He could count on both hands the amount of times he’d actually seen Mollymauk look stressed like that. Also the fact that he was holding a tray on which he’d actually gone to the effort of arranging two mugs that almost matched, sugar in a little bowl, a milk bottle, a handful of spoons.

Molly’s red eyes flickered between them for a moment before his face slumped into an expression of equal parts guilt and defeat. Like the face of someone who’d forgotten to water someone’s beloved houseplant and had been caught in the middle of replacing it.

“Oh,” he said in an attempt at cheeriness that was edged with too much tiredness to be convincing, “So you’ve met already…”

“A little more than that,” the Not Mollymauk laughed, leaning back casually and kicking their boots up onto the scuffed coffee table, “Your husband’s a good kisser, Moll.”

Caleb gave a strangled squeak of alarm, all that he could come up with in his own defence while his brain was still in static mode, feeling his face flush a hot, prickly red.

Molly just shook his head, an exhausted kind of realisation tightening his already tight smile, “Um...Caleb, this is Kingsley. Kingsley is, uh...he’s my brother.”

Caleb stared at him blankly, metally tearing through his files for any hint that his husband had mentioned a brother before and coming up empty, “Your...he’s not on my list, Mollymauk.”

Molly tilted his head slightly and gently skipped over that, shooting Caleb a brief, pleading look that promised an explanation later. He moved past Caleb to set the tray down on the coffee table, his tail giving an irritated flick to move his apparent brother’s feet out of the way first.

Kingsley moved, apparently completely unfazed by anything that had happened so far, “He’s cute, Moll, where did you find him? When you told me you’d shacked up with a professor of all things, I was expecting someone a little more-”

“We met at one of my shows,” Molly cut across him, not wanting to hear the end of that sentence, “We were friends for years and then we got together. And he isn’t just a professor, he’s got the bookshop too.”

“Gods, your band!” Kingsley laughed, folding his legs up underneath him instead, “I remember that, you and Yash and that busted old guitar you had...I mean, fuck man, if he still married you after hearing you play, you know it’s true love.”

Molly gave a noncommittal grunt, pushing one of the mugs at him perhaps a little harder than he needed to.

Caleb hesitantly moved to sit in a chair off to the side, still quite unsure what to do. He was so distracted he almost sat on Frumpkin, who huffed and slithered into his master’s lap, glaring through slitted eyes at this doppelganger of someone he already wasn’t fond of.

“But yeah, like I was saying,” Kingsley, cradled the tea between cupped hands as scarred as his brother’s, “The Revelry’s got me running this cargo to Nicodranas and I thought hey, if I’m going to be in the area, why not drop in on my favourite brother?”

“Why not,” Molly repeated, a little thinly, “Without calling or sending a letter or anything to let me know you’d be stopping by…”

Caleb winced a little at the undercurrent of annoyance underneath his love’s voice but Kingsley only laughed, like it was a joke.

“C’mon, you know that’s not how I work, Moll. I never know where I’m going to be heading or when. I’m just glad I got to see you! Especially seeing as apparently you got married since I last saw you? And popped out two kids, what the hell?”

“Una is adopted,” Molly mumbled, like that was the important point.

“I didn’t know you had it in you,” Kingsley continued brightly, now smiling wide enough that Caleb caught the wink of a gold tooth, “I mean, you’re easily the most responsible out of all of us but still, married with kids, that's actually insane…”

Caleb’s eyebrows rose. He adored his husband but one thing he’d never be able to call him was responsible. Molly caught the movement from where he was sitting next to Kingsely and his cheekbones coloured.

Feeling a sudden stab of guilt, a sudden need to rush to Molly’s defence after he’d done it for him, Caleb blurted out, “Mollymauk is a great dad.”

Kingsley looked over to him, smiling crookedly, “I bet. He was always running around after me and Luce, making sure we didn’t get into trouble...well, as much trouble, I guess. Hey! Have you heard from Lucy lately, Moll? I haven’t spoken to him even longer than I hadn’t spoken to you.”

Molly tensed instantly at the question, jaw growing taut like a bowstring, his quietly simmering frustration igniting into full blown, barely concealed fury.

“I don’t speak to Lucien,” was all he said, voice tight and tense and, above all, final.

Even Kingsley seemed to pick up on that, backpedalling quickly, “Sure, sure...so where are these sprogs of yours, then? I’m so excited to meet them...”

“Yasha offered to take them for a few hours after I realised we had our unexpected guest,” Molly bit off the end of the sentence sharply, clearly struggling to maintain his control. He shook his head tightly, standing up and sighing, “Excuse me…”

Kingsley opened his mouth to speak but closed it again, finally falling silent as he watched his brother disappear in a swirl of his coat. Caleb didn’t hesitate, getting to his feet and moving after him, throwing Kingsley an apologetic glance.

“I’ll just, uh...see what he needs.”

Kingsley just nodded, flashing him a quick smile that didn’t quite shine as bright as his other ones, then just staring into his drink. Frumpkin jumped up next to him, eyeing him suspiciously.

In the kitchen, Caleb found Molly with his head in his hands, in the middle of a long, deep breath. Caleb tried to remember everything his husband did for him when he got overwhelmed, coming up behind him and gently wrapping his arms around his middle. Instantly he felt Molly lean into his touch, aching into it.

“I’m an asshole,” he heard him groan, muffled by his palms.

“You’re not,” Caleb murmured into his purple curls.

“I am,” Molly dropped his hands, “Gods, I haven’t seen my brother in years and he comes here and I didn’t even tell my husband or my kids about him, what does that make me look like to him? To you?”

Caleb shrugged, “It was a bit of a surprise...um, why didn’t you tell us? Just out of curiosity…”

Molly turned in his arms, pressing his face to the curve of his neck, having to bend as Caleb was just a little shorter than him. It was long enough that Caleb had accepted he wasn’t ready to talk about it, content just to hold him and let it pass, but then he felt him murmur.

“I hardly ever see him. He’s a pirate with the Revelry, he’s always off sailing somewhere and...and I try, I used to try but he never replies and I’d spend ninety percent of the time having no clue where he was before he’d just pop up suddenly and I’d have to bend my life around him for however long he’d stay and then have him just run off again…”

“And...Lucien?” Caleb asked hesitantly, “He’s your brother too?”

Molly moved back, eyes suddenly solid and serious, “Caleb, I need you to promise me, if you ever hear anything from Lucien, if you ever see him or he contacts you, you ignore him completely and you come straight to tell me. Don’t let him get anywhere near the kids, don’t listen to a word he says, just ignore him and find me. Understand?”

Caleb swallowed hard, more than a little taken aback, he’d never seen Molly like this, “I promise.”

At that, Molly relaxed a little, “He just...he’s not a good man, Caleb. He’s in deep with this cult shit, just...we’re having nothing to do with him anymore.”

Caleb nodded but a question was pressing irritatingly at the base of his tongue, wanting to push forward, as much as he worried it would upset Molly. His husband noticed, reading his face as easily as he ever had, a tired but fond smile chasing the last of the severity off his face.

“Go on then,” he prompted gently, “Ask me.”

Caleb almost groaned in relief as he nearly blurted, “How do you know they’re your brothers?”

Molly gave a rough laugh, “You mean aside from the obvious, that they look enough like me that you sucked Kingsely’s face thinking it was mine?”

Caleb’s face went up like flashpaper as he started to splutter, “It was an accident!”

Molly grinned, looking a little more like himself, putting a gentle hand on his cheek, “I get it, babe, don’t worry, I’ll take an IOU...but I get what you mean. You’re right, I don’t actually remember growing up with them, I don’t remember actually being their brother. And that’s kind of why it kind of hurts having him around, honestly.”

Caleb nodded sympathetically, “So they just sort of showed up after you woke up again?”

“Yeah,” Molly huffed out a laugh that didn’t have much humour in it, “Imagine you’re just walking down the street one day and some guy with your own face runs up to you and hugs you so hard it knocks you off your feet.”

“I can see how that would be...disconcerting?”

“Somewhat,” Molly sighed, moving to look at his reflection in the microwave door, trying to sort out the mess he’d made of his makeup, “Kingsley just...he’s a sweet enough guy even if he is a flit but...when he looks at me he sees this big brother he thought he’d lost, someone who apparently looked after him and ran around after him and held things together for him. Someone I absolutely am not. And he can’t seem to get it through his skull that I can’t be that person.”

Caleb gently but firmly stepped in front of Molly, taking his hands in his own. He didn’t seem to realise how badly they were shaking.

Molly gripped his fingers tightly, like he was holding on for dear life, like he hadn’t even realised how deep the water around him was until Caleb reached out.

“Honestly,” his voice was a shaky exhale, “I’m kind of glad he doesn’t stick around. He’d realise his brother’s gone for good.”

Caleb took a moment to consider his words, wanting desperately to say the right thing, willing his brain to kick into gear and let him help.

“Maybe if he met you now he’d realise he liked the brother he has?” he murmured gently, running his thumbs soothingly across Molly’s knuckles, “I am biased but I think you’re pretty fantastic.”

Molly smiled softly, leaning forward until he was resting his forehead on Caleb’s, “Thanks…”

“I don’t think you need to pretend to be anyone else,” Caleb promised, shifting slightly so he could press his lips to his forehead. It wasn’t quite the kiss he was imagining but he could tell it made Molly feel better and that was all that mattered.

Maybe so he couldn’t lose his nerve, Molly quickly returned the favour with a gentle kiss to the cheek and moved back into the living room. Caleb decided it was best to give them a moment, making a cup of tea of his own. He lingered over it, holding the warmth between his hands, watching the light outside of their small window turn from the full, deep orange of sunset to a cool blue.

Only then did he pad into the living room, not entirely sure what he was going to find. Of course he trusted Mollymauk but still, it wouldn’t hurt to be a little prepared to break up a fight. He mentally catalogued the components in his pockets, just in case.

But when he stuck his head around the corner, there were no flying feathers or drawn swords. The two Tealeafs were sat on the sofa together, Kingsley in the middle of another ramble, hands moving through the air as he gestured widley. Molly had an expression of bemusement and vague surprise.

“-and I was thinking I could show them how to tie knots, I swear man, you don’t even know how many godsdamned knots there are,” Kingsley was saying, eyes alight with excitement, “And maybe, if it was okay with you and Red obviously, I could take em out on the ship sometime! Just a little day trip and you guys could come too, there’s a place where you can always see dolphins and there’s seals and I even saw a whale once! Kids would be into that, right? Kids like animals, don’t they?”

For the first time, Kingsley looked something other than blithely amused. For the first time, a kind of hopeless uncertainty edged into his eyes.

Molly clearly caught it, something in him softening, “You...you really want to spend time with my kids?”

“Of course I do!” Kingsley blinked, “I mean, okay, I’ve not been the best brother on the planet but I’m an uncle now. Like, I’m someone’s actual uncle! That’s the most incredible thing and I just really want to do a good job at it. I want them to like me.”

For a moment, Molly looked startled, like he hadn’t expected him to say that. But once it had sunken in, his face cracked into a smile.

“I’ll be honest, Kingsley, I don’t think you’re going to have to work that hard to get them to like you. You’ll see.”

Kingsley looked like that was the nicest thing anyone had ever said to him, his face lighting up like the dawn.

“And look,” Molly shrugged, “You’re not a shitty brother or anything just...just call more, damn it.”

“Okay, I promise,” Kingsley was back to laughing, looking like he was a second away from pouncing on Molly and hugging him, “I mean, I'm gonna be checking in with my little niece and nephew all the time, right?”

“Yeah,” Molly grinned back at him, “I guess you will.”

For all the broken teeth, they really did have the exact same smile.

Caleb leaned against the doorway, eyes warm as he watched them, as he watched Kingsely loudly announce that he’d even brought a present for his new family members before pulling an entire cutlass out of a holster neither of them had noticed under his coat, as he watched Molly choke down a laugh and start to explain why, as cool as they’d find it, a pirate sword really wasn’t an appropriate gift for two toddlers.

None of this had been on his list. But there was something to be said for surprises.

AAIC Checkmate Set Trailer

This is the 65th post in the Ace Attorney Investigations Collection Countdown: 16 days left until release!

Today's topic: the Checkmate Set Trailer for the Investigations Collection!

This time around Shi-Long graces us with his charismatic presence and discusses the Checkmate Set - the special edition of the Investigations Collection that I talked about in a previous countdown post and also pre-ordered myself already! - with his men. Or rather, shows it off because he's the best possible choice for this presentation in particular but we'll get to that. The scene takes place in the Theatrum Neutralis of the Cohdopian Embassy building from I1-5. There's no context for why they're all there for this exchange specifically but I assume it's done in order to be able to reuse the assets of Shi-Long's subordinates from a similar such scene that took place there in the game and not have to first put them all on a different background. And good thing too, because I don't think they would have fit in Miles' office or even the hallway of the prosecutors' building 😄

Miles is still there too though! He does nothing but stand at the side far behind Shi-Long and watch the scene unfold which is hilarious on its own. I guess he didn't want to interrupt their bonding time 😉

The scene starts with the subordinates counting off as usual and proceeds with Shi-Long offering one of them a gift (this time for one of them directly and not for their younger brother's wife's younger brother 😉), specifically an Ace Attorney Investigations Collection Checkmate Set. One of the officers lists what's included and the officer being given the gift to tentatively asks if the acrylic standees are just of Miles assuming that they are. Shi-Long objects, rather forcefully, and makes clear that of course there's one of him too. The officer inquires after his theme song doubting that'll be included too, to which Shi-Long quotes Lang Zi ("Hearing it once will open your eyes a hundred-fold.") and then, apparently with the pure force of his charisma, causes the arranged version of his theme song to start playing. The officer is moved to tears, Shi-Long graciously tells him to take his time and listen to the rest at home and the officers salute in confirmation.

Oh boy 😂 First of all, so nice of Shi-Long to gift his men an Ace Attorney Investigations Collection Checkmate Set just like that! What a generous gesture. (Can I get one too, Shi-Long? Pretty please? 🥺) This also means that we now have an evidence icon of the Checkmate Set and I love that fact. No idea where I'd possibly use it but who knows! I assume that since he's giving them out as gifts Shi-Long already has a Checkmate Set of his own and there we have the connection to my speculation from the last trailer video that the entire main cast of the Investigations games buys the collection in some form, with Shi-Long splashing out and getting the special edition even. He really wants those acrylic standees and the arranged music mini-album. Understandable.

Speaking of, I love how his men are only interested in the set as long as the standees include Shi-Long himself and the arranged music includes his theme song. (And how that one subordinate cries from just hearing his arranged theme song and plans to listen to more of it at home.) That's what I call devotion! Maybe a tad concerning as well... But mostly cute! Considering Shi-Long seems to have that good of a relationship with all of his 100 subordinates it's truly impressive. And how he shows off the new arrangement of his theme! Ah, it's so epic! I love it! Can't wait to hear the full version! And his amazingly confident quote before that, as if just hearing it would cause you an entire spiritual awakening. Well... maybe? I definitely feel more enlightened now, though that might just be me whenever Shi-Long's on screen 😉 Anyway, I love how this implies that the characters just somehow generate their own theme music around them wherever they go and Shi-Long switched his to the arranged version for demonstration purposes. He's just badass like that!

And the new HD chibi sprite animations we get to see of him! So adorable! (I'm normal about this character, I swear.) I guess he wanted to be a little extra with his impatient finger wagging because I have no idea why else he would do it like that but sure, Wolfy, you do you 😄

Definitely my favourite of these little videos so far! The world needs more Shi-Long content and I hope the collection's release will help in rectifying that. I also just love seeing Shi-Long interact with his subordinates, it's so ridiculous but also so wholesome!
