Chill Tangled Depths map completion on EU servers! Now with date!

The poll's been closed, we got a date and time!

What will happen?

100% map completion in Tangled Depths!

No mounts required.

No prior waypoint unlocks required.

Itzel Lore IV: Itzel Poison mastery required for 100% completion, but you can still participate if you don't have the mastery.

I will probably get lost at some point. Apologies in advance.

When will it happen?

On Sunday, 04.12.2022 at 16:00 CET (GMT+1).

Make sure to get the right time for your own timezone! (This is 14 minutes after the Chak Gerent meta event ends. I'll try to progress the Rata Novus event chain far enough for the city defenses to be deactivated before we start. Don't want to have to deal with that while we pass through. And then pray we aren't forced to switch map instances.)

How to join?

Type /squadjoin Neljje in chat or /whisper Neljje should you encounter any problems joining.

I will not be listing the squad in LFG, but it will be open to join for everyone via chat command, and invites will be open as well. My tag will be visible to squad members only. I'll open the squad 30 minutes before we start.

We start near the Order of Whispers Camp waypoint [&BA4IAAA=]. This is the first waypoint you automatically unlock when you enter Tangled Depths from Auric Basin.

Never say never! I can't make promises of course but I'm always down to clown in TD :D Even if it's not another planned group event, if you ever need help completing the map don't hesitate to hit me up here on tumblr or ingame and maybe we can work something out.

You can still join, you'll just be missing two points by the end. You won't get lost on the route and we won't move on without you, I'll just have to ask you to wait for a moment while we hop into the poisoned area, grab the two points there and come back to where you're waiting. We won't be moving on to a new area through the poison.

FAQ (with questions nobody actually asked):

What exactly is "chill" map completion?

No optimized speed routes, no rushing, we make sure we stay together as a group so noone feels like they might get lost or can't keep up. For the route itself I deliberately chose a few "whacky" ways over the "fast options", just because I think it might be more interesting. A scenic tour through the jungle, if you will. See as much of the map as possible during completion without making entirely pointless detours.

If anyone wants to watch the vista cutscenes, I would like to ask that people are patient and wait.

So, no mounts...

Obviously I will not hold you at gun point not to use any mount under any circumstances, but I do ask noone rushes ahead so we don't get sprinkled all over the map. That's how people get lost. I personally will not be using mounts, unless it is to pick up / help people (turtle passenger seat etc). Or I fall. You know. That happens. Ahem.

I don't feel confident in my platforming/jumping abilities / I'm scared I won't be able to keep up.

If you ever struggle with gliding or any jumping passage, and you can't use any mount to make it easier for you, please do not be embarassed to ask for help! I'll try my best to either get you through this in the turtle mount or grab my mesmer and portal you through the passage. No questions asked. We're all here to have fun!

That said, while this is a HoT map and therefore we do have some gliding and jumping passages that are unavoidable*, most of the way is just walking. So please don't be too intimidated! I'll tell you upfront, the start of the route is probably by far the worst and most chaotic part. I apologize for that.

*(different routes have different possibilities of course, but I tried to keep a balance between interesting ways, minimal backtracking and staying on the intended paths)

Help! I lost the group and don't know how to get back to you. Real Tangled Depths moment.

Stop moving. Tell us roughly where you are. I think by now I'm fairly competent trying to decipher where people are lost. I'll come and pick you up. Alternatively I'll have to point you to the nearest waypoint we unlocked and grab you from there. (Look I know this sounds like a silly point to make but believe me I've had this happen more than once.)

And lastly... for the really interested (you do NOT have to understand this, don't worry), that's the rough plan if all goes well:

If people are still up for it once we're done I may have a little something planned for the end (nothing spectacular) to conclude the tour in a special place that not everyone might have seen before. Depends on how we're all feeling and if the map events are playing along.

After chilling out some, I'm really embarassed about how I responded there. I hope this wasn't too negative for you, and I hope you have a good rest of the day and can find more trans werewolves out there

Hey Fam, you're good and I think this is an important lesson that everyone can learn from tbh.

I saw your messages coming in RAPID FIRE which generally means a really frantic train of thought and (possibly) not the best space to think or articulate one's point in. Happens to the best of us, so relax! There's no bad blood here!

A lot of the time someone can read a post online, or an ask, or see something and have an immediate reaction to it without, ya know, actually understanding what was being said or spoken about.

It's very reactionary and the internet has been very much TRAINED to be immediately reactionary because of "internet bonus points" for jumping onto a bandwagon without like... thinking much about what they are saying or even reacting to.

I've done that too and it's, honestly, super unhealthy and really not a smart way to exist as a person.

More often than not these days what I do, even with positive messages or asks I get, I read them and then set my phone down for a bit and just kinda think about it before I respond. Thinking about making sure to take things in a positive light or trying to find the purpose behind what the person is saying even IF the message itself isn't "as kind as it could be" - then finding my own words and responding as best I can.

The overall posts throughout the day started with me saying replying to a post being like: "Okay, if this poll has SO MANY PEOPLE wanting Werewolf stuff... WHERE IS IT?!"

Which then spun into people sending me messages about Werewolf Porn - again, 100% behind that, go for it, more Werewolf appreciation is great in any way - and I did my best to keep it silly.

The narrative shifted quickly into it ONLY being about porn despite me saying "well even taking the porn OUT of it... there's just not a lot of Werewolf ANYTHING" - but it was quickly ignored which was admittedly frustrating.

Then there became excuses for "well there ISNT any because of THIS AND THIS" and it all was very personal reasons behind things and not actually like... hitting a true and deep or meaningful reason as to why someone would be afraid to or against posting things like that.

Which is where my heavy post about "listen, if you're afraid that the Normies won't accept you for you being a little weird... well guess what, those Normies already DON'T accept you and likely WON'T accept you even IF you give them what they want."

So somehow we got to THIS POINT from me saying:

"Hey yo! Where's the love for Werewolves if so many people voted that they loved Werewolves in this poll!?"

The Riddler: He really cannot handle you having feelings for someone else. Like his possessiveness, narcissism etc just won't allow it. It will definitely make him more competitive around Scarecrow and the mere sight of him makes Edward incredibly angry. He just can't shake the feeling Scarecrow is stealing you from him. That often sends him into spirals, was he just not enough for you? Did you not understand the genius he really is? He feels he has to prove himself and diminish your feelings to Jonathan as to which...Good luck with that Edward.

Scarecrow: Openly he doesn't show any upset. Whilst he might hold you at arms length somewhat, he simply can't give himself to you completely, worried that he'll lose you. Plus he knew what Edward was like. That kind of gave Jonathan pleasure. The knowledge that your feelings for both men would be ripping Edward apart from the inside. However, he tolerates your love for both men and if that makes you happy then so be it. Although he would only be able to handle that there is one other partner other than him. If you brought another into the situation then Jonathan would probably leave. Jonathan -as well as Edward- were neglected emotionally so naturally they do better with relationship that are monogamous and they have all the attention, not worrying that they give their all to someone, only for that person to leave or have favourites. Jonathan just won't do competition in that regard. He'll just leave.

Two-Face: Pretty okay with polyamory since there is technically two of him. So bringing Oswald into the picture didn't really bother him on that point. He just found Cobblepot annoying, personally. Like of all people it had to be him? Although deep down, both know that they can trust Oswald to keep you safe and happy. Just like he could count on Oswald to be a dick and act like he's better at him at everything and that Dent won't just kick him in the face one day.

Penguin: Personally finds it easier to run his business knowing you won't constantly be alone. After all, you have Two-Face too. Although sometimes it becomes like a weird custody battle. He'll phone Dent demanding to know you're alright and where you are. Or he'll decide to take time off so ditch Harvey and spend time with him. You have to remind the two at times that you also have a phone and they simply just have to phone or text if they're worried. Yes it did take pointing out the similarities to a bitter custody battle between who gets the kid on holidays and weekends for Oswald to tone it down. All three of you could admit that was a little weird of a dynamic to have. Yet sometimes he just couldn't help himself.

Black Mask: He knew what he was getting into when you two became official...BUT THE CLOWN? The most loving statement Roman could give the Joker is that sometimes he just wants to strangle him to death rather than slowly and brutally murder him. For Roman that's a big step! However all that goes out the window when you get upset or sadded because the Joker is off in his own little world and has, again, forgotten you exist. Over and over again, it's you chasing after him and Roman is tired for you. He's tried convincing you to leave the Joker. You haven't budged. It drives him nuts. Although there is a downside to this relationship with Roman. A deal he made with you showing he was really in it for himself. He allowed you to have relationships with others- the Joker- but in return he got to have his own fun. He claims to find it only fair. That surely if you could look elsewhere then so could he. It completely goes over his head that he's talking about hook ups, strippers and prostitutes. Whilst you're relationships we're actually consented to by all parties and long term. This wasn't the same thing as sleeping around. Yeah...need to work out some details but even if he fights you on it, he hasn't actually cheated on you. So his actions were very different from his words there. Plus his jealousy is through the roof any time you even

Joker: So he's the most chill of them all but the worst of them all. If he does love you, he certainly doesn't act like it most of the time as he seems to forget you every three minutes. It causes a lot of strain in the relationship between you two and often leaves you upset. Naturally you then run off to Roman and that puts heat between Roman and the Joker. Its honestly just a big mess. As for his view on sharing you with Roman, he doesn't care. He'll often make jokes about you liking the more rough types. Yes, including that way. Let's not sit and pretend the Joker has a filter. He's always happy to see you, he just forgets you exist with every move he makes. Does it help if I said he appreciates you?

For the most part he is pretty suave about it, and when people ask about you two he just makes a questionable and vague remark and brushes it off.

So after a long day of working and running around the school, Ruggie is a bit tired for once, and you offer to cuddle with him.

Onto my favorite volume from this series! Damn, I look forward to comment this volume the most since I started, and I never thought I would be this devoted ;;w;; Honestly, the release of this cover was what makes me go "I SHOULD COLLECT IT". Pink is my favorite color and it clearly doesn't associate with TB but still, the fact they have pink cover is enough to make me to collect it. (Also, Subaru in heels like he should 🤗)

Let's go to the content. Like I said, volume 4 is my favorite volume because, you got to see our protagonist in two flavors by one sitting. I totally forgot "Crime" chapter exists until I saw the table of contents; I thought they only have Save chapter here. 😥 I'm sorry

Also, I realized it when I read volume 5 and above, but TB's art style actually changed slightly throughout time. In volume 4, it wasn't that clear yet, but when you get to volume 5 later, you probably notice how bold the art line was. I think Mokona-sensei also mentioned that she fixed several things in CPC version, so I think the bolder line might be one of that. Back onto the art style, I think the art style in volume 4 is the art style we probably saw the most in merchandise.

I will stop here I can go nonstop if we are talking about the art style itself. I have so much things to talk about that.

Let's go to the first chapter in this volume, Crime chapter!

So, if I'm going to summarize this chapter in one word, it will be "conflicted". Why? Okay, first, I'm going to ask you and think.

When you hear the word "crime", what do you think it means?

For me, "crime" is when you make someone else suffer as the consequences of your action towards that person. You willingly make them suffer, or you willingly make them take something they shouldn't feel at all. In my country, "crime" also means going against the law, against what people already decided as "the right thing to do". It can be based on religion or society, depends on the rules.

This is what the chapter offers on the first page, before the first panel. They wrote down the meaning of "crime" based on dictionary.

While you are reading this commentary, or even reading the chapter itself, I hope you keep in mind about what crime means to you, while we read what this word has to do with this chapter.

We started the chapter with Subaru looking at a shrine being torn down. He looked... sad 😥 look at that last panel on the left. If Subaru looked at me with such puppy eyes all the time, I would... hug him, pat him, and cry for him instead then we probably cry together 😭

Then we saw him entering a McDonalds.

And Hokuto really screamed his name. Subaru was embarassed and told Hokuto that if she screamed that loud, it will bother the others. Hokuto replied with "what are you talking about? If I didn't call you, you won't realize where we are for 5 minutes". That's clearly me. My behavior. Being confused over a place to sit for 5 minutes.

Subaru settled down and apologized for making Seishiro wait. Seishiro said he chatted with Hokuto and they discussed about graves.

Cute Subaru panels 😭😭😭 That "What" panel already becomes my meme.

Going back to the story, the topic they discussed about was "rather than having a house, have a grave". Subaru was confused so Hokuto explained that "even thought Japan's economic bubble burst, the price of land in Tokyo didn't show any sign of bursting as well, just like a grave". (If you are confused about economic bubble, I talked about it in another post since it was quite complicated or you can google it. One of the topic I hated about Japan's economy)

Then Hokuto said, "Then, because the sudden rise of land price inside the city, there aren't many people who owned a grave. In turn, even thought you worked hard, collected the money and bought a grave, if there was no one who can take care of that grave, the land will be owned by the government". Subaru then asked why and Hokuto replied with "that's how the law goes". Seishiro said "the people of Tokyo, even after dead, they can't rest in peace".

Subaru looked troubled and Hokuto asked why Subaru didn't look okay. He then mentioned a shrine being torn down.

Subaru then explained, you can't move a grave in case you wake someone who is sleeping inside the grave, and it's even more difficult to move or destroy a shrine. Since before, a shrine is used to seal. First they trapped unpleasant or dangerous beings and to prevent them from doing things like destruction, shrine became the symbol for that seal. That's why, moving a shrine means letting go that sealed being.

Then of course, our precious protagonist goes all guilty about it. He knew that he couldn't do anything about it, but when he saw it the torii being destroyed, he felt bitter about it.

Then of course Hokuto-nee-chan has nothing of her brother's sense of guilt and told him,

"You started it again! Subaru always took everything as your fault. I told you. Human can only do a little in their life, so one should do their best on what they can. Saving a shrine or torii that was destroyed wasn't something you can do. That's why just think about the thing that you can do"

Yeah. You should say it to him louder, Hokuto-nee-chan. The next part is Seishiro told Subaru to eat the Egg Muffin and Chicken Nugget and Hokuto asked if Subaru planned to throw away Seishiro's love. Oh my...

Hokuto asked what Subaru planned to do that day and he said he is going to do an assignment from school which is drawing a real-life scenery. Hokuto said there's no assignments like that from school (SO HOKUTO DID GO TO SCHOOL) and Subaru explained that since he rarely came to art class, the teacher gave him a special assignment. Hokuto said "it's for your job" but Subaru said he couldn't use it as an excuse and the teacher told him that if he can draw it properly, he will get a credit--or a score, I think. Subaru said they could fail him, but the school helped him to pass grade.

And Hokuto protested as it was a Sunday and a good weather day, but Seishiro supported him by saying "It's a perfect day for drawing". Hokuto was conflicted and said she should have make Subaru a bento for lunch then Subaru went "I'm already eating now". She then asked what he will do dinner, and Subaru said he will eat outside. Seishiro asked where Hokuto went, and she replied that she had a date. With the foreigner girl, I suspected. 🤧

Then whatever happened in this panel. To summarize it: Hokuto didn't want Subaru to have dinner alone so Subaru said he will eat properly but Hokuto said if she let him alone he won't eat so Seishiro invited him to his house to have dinner and our number #1 SeiSub shipper Hokuto supported it. And Subaru didn't even denying his invitation.

NEXT.

SO FINALLY, Subaru got some peace in his life. As he drew, he got to think about how kind Seishiro, but he also wondered about his interference during the incident in Tokyo Tower and the "Call" case before.

What kind of person... Seishiro-san is?

Finally, you question him, Subaru. Fun fact: 1) Subaru actually wondered if Seishiro is related to Sakurazukamori. 2) From now on, whenever Subaru had a me time, he will go and think about Seishiro's kindness, then question him in the same time. :D Talking about stepping down one step into the hell, oh well.

But if Subaru had a chapter filled with peace, we probably read a different series so.

I want to add that Subaru, being a person related to spirits, deliberately choose Yasukuni Shrine as the place he would like to draw. I wrote an additional note for this particular shrine, but simply said, it's not a favorable shrine since it was also used to enshrine WWII A-list War Prisoners, so whenever politician visited it, it would cause a controversy. Boy, can you choose another shrine 😭 though this shrine is probably felt the same for him, no wonder you still got a problem when you visit it...

Onto the story, Subaru felt a strange miasma and he walked around, noticed a woman in front of a soil. He noticed what she was doing right away and she said "no one will disturb her".

She then tried to run away and Subaru asked what she buried under the ground. She said no one can disturb her and Subaru guessed it's an inugami. She asked how did he knew and Subaru asked why she did that.

She then said "why can't she do it? She won't get punished after all" and Subaru told her, to, listen to him, in such expression. OH MY...

He then explained that "He didn't know the situation but using inugami to curse won't just take the one she cursed, but also her life". She then said she doesn't care.

My "happiness" was ended that day. Now, no matter what kind of hell waiting me, it's not different from everyday.

I don't know how Subaru pursuaded her but they finally calmed down and talk. She then explained that she is the mother of the child in "Child Abduction and Murder" two years ago. She then told her story; her daughter was just about to enter elementary school that spring and her husband is working in a contact lens company. They lived a pretty normal life, until one day, her daughter didn't come home. She reported it to the police and they searched for her for two months with no lead. She said, during the times her daughter was missing, she dreamed her daughter was being bullied, being pierced or tied. But when they found her, she was already dead.

The suspect was someone they didn't know at all. He just found her cute and brought her with him. But since she exploded and noisy, he grabbed her face and put her under water, so she became quiet. Subaru asked if the suspect was caught, and she said yes, but he wasn't convicted the punishment.

She then explained that since he wasn't mentally stable, they can't give him a "punishment". If the law can't punish him, then she will punish him. She wanted to kill him right away during the trial, but then, she will be punished by law when she didn't do anything wrong, thus she will kill him in the same way like he did.

In Japan right now, if you kill by cursing someone, you didn't kill them by yourself. If you don't kill them by yourself, then you can't be punished. Just like him, even when the fact you killed someone doesn't change, whichever was unpunishable.

When she was killed, I finally understand. "The sin you did", "the law used to judge", "the punishment you need to atone", everything is decided by the law.

The others who spread rumors. The others who comes for news coverage. The others who defense the perpreator. The others who examined his mentality. The others who judged him as unpunishable.

The others will never understand the real wound inflicted to the victim.

She then explained she searched for a way to kill him after a thorough research, she found inugami. She killed her daughter's beloved dog and buried it in Yasukuni Shrine. She then explained to Subaru, that even if Subaru reported it, they won't punish her and will think that she is just someone with a slight strange head.

Subaru then told her if she used a curse technique, then she will receive the damage equal to it. She said it doesn't matter if she dies. Her child is her happiness. The happiness she collected for 31 years was destroyed in a second by someone she doesn't know at all.

He can't let her like that. He should stop her, Subaru thought.

Subaru then asked the daughter's name and she said "Mai". Subaru tried to persuade her to stop by saying that her daughter probably doesn't desire that. She doesn't want her mother to be in misfortune. He then told her that there is way to talk to Mai for a while, using mitamayose. He ensured her that he will bring Mai's soul to that place. To her.

And he did. He did.

But...

It doesn't go as he thought.

Subaru was shocked. The lady opened her eyes and saw her daughter, but she couldn't hear what she said. Thus she asked Subaru to tell her, what she said.

You see, at this point, the belief Subaru held about this whole situation was destroyed. The daughter asked her mother to punish the man. Do you think he stops and tell her the truth?

No.

Subaru decided to lie. He told the lady that her daughter asked her to stop what she was doing and she wants her to be happy.

The girl, realizing that Subaru didn't tell her the truth, said "It hurts. It's suffocating." while looking at Subaru as if she was hurt by Subaru's words. Subaru couldn't look at her face.

The next scene, Seishiro wondered why Subaru hasn't come yet (while cooking in an apron too, oh my) and he should persuade him to pick him up. Subaru then came drenched in rain and told Seishiro that he needs to think a bit, so he will pass the dinner offer. But Seishiro picked Subaru up and brought him inside.

And nooooo my baby was crying so hard 😭😭

Subaru told Seishiro what happened and while he realized that while doing this job, he won't meet pretty thing everytime, that day was too much. He literally lied to the lady. He knew he was wrong, and he realized he lied to her for his own sake. He shouldn't lie in his job, and someone's happiness is decided by their ownselves.

Seishiro then asked Subaru, if Subaru knew that someone's happiness was decided by themselves, then it's the same for whether Subaru lied at that time is right or not. If Subaru made a mistake and no one know about it, can they attack him? No. He then said Subaru should forgive himself. He went to assure Subaru that he thought what Subaru said was right, and if Subaru is wrong, then Seishiro is also wrong. He said he will protect Subaru if someone attack him, and he should sleep. Subaru thanked him and went to sleep.

At this rate, it seems I will win the bet. Subaru-kun.

DUDE. Should you end the chapter like that?

Now, let's discuss about the topic of this chapter. I asked you in the beginning, "what is the meaning of crime for you?". The definition of crime I told in the beginning, was, actually changed after reading this chapter. So, after thinking correctly about what is crime, you can proceed to the next step!

This is the continuation of the first question.

By the end of the chapter, Subaru told Seishiro that he knew he was wrong, but Seishiro told him Subaru's choice wasn't wrong. It wasn't clear whether what he did was right or wrong within this story. Now, I asked you, the reader, to think.

Was what Subaru did, lying to that woman so she would stop the curse, a right choice?

I asked my mother and my friend for this, and they... gave a pretty interesting answer. My mother said "Subaru was wrong to lie, he should tell the truth, because it was only her who can judge whether she should continue or not", much like how Subaru himself thinks about his action in this chapter, while my friend said "What Subaru did was wrong but I will do the same in that situation".

For me? I don't know. To me, if I'm in Subaru's shoes, I will do the same as him, but I will surely punish myself for that. My mom is right, but I know my heart won't let me do that. Yet, that just justify my own ego and it goes back to the foremost problem of this story: the concept of "right" and "wrong". It wasn't right to decide something for someone else. It wasn't wrong to save someone as well. Thus, I don't know how to answer that question myself.

Then again, if Subaru didn't lie, she will proceed with inugami thing and she will certainly die. Remember that the focus in Subaru's cause to lie wasn't about her taking revenge, but about her safety.

But, let's take a look why Subaru got a breakdown like that. Subaru realized that he just decided her life like the others she mentioned before. He had an ability to interact with the spirits, and she relied on him to convey her daughter's messages. But he lied to her when she put a huge trust on him, especially when he proved his words for being able to summon her daughter's spirit.

Now, was Subaru committed a crime? What is a crime?

Subaru said he commited crime. A crime, that, like Seishiro said, was unknown to anyone else except Subaru and probably that girl. And he committed that crime for, in his own language: for his own sake, but for us the readers: to save her. Which is connected to the next chapter, "Save", where we will think more about what "save" actually means as well.

It's funny that I really forget about this chapter when it's actually a pretty important chapter. Subaru got emotional because of what he thinks to be his mistake, and Seishiro just marched ten steps forward into Subaru's fragile heart.

So I saw you were feeling kinda uninspired for your AU so I have a few more ideas so hopefully these help with finding more inspiration.

- So you mentioned that Duncan was bullied in middle school before I could kinda still see it happening in high school especially when it comes to him and Courtney. Like maybe some pricks tease him for having a potential crush on Courtney. They see that he likes her and remind him that she only knows him because of his analysis paper and that she probably would never be interested in him. And I can see Duncan actually believing this which makes him feel slightly insecure about the thought of Courtney liking him back.

- And you also said that it’s possible that Duncan hated or didn’t like Courtney because of her popularity and now that he’s gotten to know her he’s open his eyes and becomes more aware to the pressures to be perfect. He sees how many rumors people spread about her, how hated she can be by other students and how many asshole jocks want to get in her pants. So he feels guilty about judging Courtney.

Now for some smaller ideas

- They also work on the analysis project at the park.

- Maybe Duncan gets a hard on by something Courtney does.

- They have more deeper conversations when they work on the project like Duncan’s home life or Courtney’s parents.

I can see that happening the day before the last one, like someone picks on him and tells him that as soon as they're done with that project she's gonna stop talking to him and that he was an idiot if he thought he had a chance with her. So the next day, they're at her house, and he's... actually working, so she's very thrown off and has no idea why and he's been weird the entire time there and can't even look her in the face, every time she points it out he just says he's okay and doesn't know what she's talking about but she gets tired and snaps and he's very embarassed but eventually says "I've been weird because it's the last day and I know you're not gonna talk to me when we're done" And she's just like lmao what where tf did you get that from and he's like "Dont play dumb, x told me" And Courtney just has the biggest poker face and just goes "Duncan, if I didn't want to hang out with you I would have finished this thing last week" then just softens her voice and gets ll honest like "Listen, I like you for who you are, I like hanging out with you, you're great, and why tf are you listening to X, they're an idiot". And he's all embarassed and "I know but they really got into my head with all they said and I guess I deep down believe it too, you're great and I'm sorry". And she just gives him a smile and is like "It's all okay, but, let's just finish this because we actually have to get it done for tomorrow".

And they keep working, actually working, not just stalling to not get it done, they work in silence and by this point is just editing and making sure everything is in place, but it's not awkward, they feel okay just working in peace with each other not needing to say a word, and in an hour they're done, the paper is perfect, nothing left to change or add, and they should feel great, but they don't.

They know they don't have an excuse anymore and it's either time to let each other drift away or confess. They could stay friends, yes, but they won't really have a reason for him to go to her house everyday or hang out all the afternoon. They just keep talking, about random things, they're at her desk, side by side, their knees are very close making them blush each time they touch, then he makes her laugh and he's like oh no she's cute.

And he's thinking and trying to encourage himself to make a move, also Bridgette and Geoff might have told him that Courtney might like him back so he should just go for it. When she's looking away and chuckling, he's like MAKE A MOVE, so he just swallows and tucks her hair behind her ear, and she's taken by surprise and looks at him, and he just takes a deep breath and gives her a kiss, it's very soft and quick, but enough to put all his feelings out there. And he's all embarassed and says "I'm so sorry, I shouldn't have done that... I'm gonna go". And he's reaching for his things but Courtney suddenly turns his face around, and he meets her eyes, and her smile calms him and when he's about to speak again she kisses him. It's not something desperate or passionate, in fact, it never escaletes, it's just soft and calm and a little long lol. Her arms wrap around his neck and his around her waist. They separate for air and because they eventually had to and they just smile. Courtney asks him if he wants to go to the park and he says yes so they go, and spend all afternoon being silly and kissing, just teenagers in love in their honeymoon phase 🥺

Id write whatevers next but this already took me long enough lol

Note: Someone pls shoot me I don't know how to write 3 repetitive scenarios w/o making it boring asf. So with request that has similar patterns per character, I figured Headcannons would work? I hope it's ok. I tried making imagines but it looked boring... OH! But I added my short Azul scenario as compensation. Blergh enough chitchat I'm thirstea.

After a long day of being avoided being the infamous “Malleus Draconia” this fae gets tired from the attention he draws and the lack of attention he gets.

Dealing with Dorm duties, People constantly fearing him for nothing, people approaching him to pry information *cough Rook cough* and to not even get an invite in dorm leader meetings? This just gives him a bit of a headache.

He will probably flee to his room when things get a little bit out of hand and he needs some of that good relaxation time.

Resting his head on the bed. Eyes slowly close. The atmosphere relaxing as breaths slow down. "Welcome back Tsunotaro!" You cheerfully exclaimed.

What? Nani? What in the world? Was he that distracted to not notice you in the room this whole time? Expect yourself a O.O face from you local fae.

"Hmm? I didnt notice you were there Y/n..." Even if your lovely Malleus is shocked, He will still gently smile at you. Eyes narrowing, an endearing smile appears in his face everytime he looks at you.

Slowly, your hands would make it's way to creep in his hands. Bingo! Hand holding complete!

Ok! Time for mission number 2! After a tight clasp on Malleus' fingers, you brought your face close to the hands you held dear, and gave the fae a small kiss at the back of his hands.

As if the shock earlier wasn't enough, The fae's eyes widens in surprise yet again. Malleus definitely doesn't get your behavior at times..... But it's not like he hates it... In fact, He loves it...( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

A warm giddy smile paint your face. How infectious... A smile that can melt all your troubles away within a hitch of a second. Malleus can't help but smile ear to ear with the endearing gestures he received.

"But why would you even kiss my hand?" The fae questions in laughter. "Well, you looked pretty troubled today and I dont really know how to help... So I thought that a small kiss will do the trick!"

"You know how much I care about you right?" The answer Malleus got was something priceless. His heart felt warm and fuzzy hearing that someone cares for him. There really was never a dull moment with you.

Expect a little tint of flushed pink in the fae's cheeks for a brief moment. But gotta look close! Malleus won't show it, but he's blushy wushy and melting all over!

Tsunotaro is not much of the type to get the receiving end but he's still very thankful you did this for him uwu.

Expect malleus to give you a kiss on your hand in return too! He can't help but want to share the feeling he got when you kissed his! ^~^

Finishing the last lesson of Alchemy class, Spade boi is exhausted. Using too much braincells is not his forte, but he still needs to grind to get to the honor roll!

He will probably stay in the classroom for a bit and study some of the history materials and alchemy reviewers for the test tommorow... Oops, our cutie fell asleep while writing down his notes.

While reading, somehow, your eyes wanders off to his hands that fell off the desk while he grunted "five more minutes." Wow, sleeping deuce is probably one of the best deuce out there huh? You laughed to yourself.

Maybe it was because of boredom, maybe even from worry, or maybe its just because you simply wanted to do it. But you started to intertwine your fingers with deuce... WoaH...

Smiling at how comfortable it was to hold his hands. You prop your face to kiss his fingers. Chu~♡

"Uhhhmmm....." Oh... You got caught redhanded... Deuce wakes up to find you holding his hands... furthermore, YOU WERE KISSING IT! How embarrassing...(O////O)

Looking up at Deuce, You see a red tomato flushed boy. His cheeks up to his ears are painted pink from embarassment.

"Ahaha... Good morning... Oh wait... Good afternoon." Deuce will look away from you bashfully... How embarrassing for him... But face it, this is such a treat for you.

"You know... You've been awfully dazed and troubled these days... Please take take a break too... It's bad if you keep sleeping in random places! I care about you a lot and I don't want to see you stressed ok?"

Deuce was left astounded with the heartwarming speech you gave him... He felt butterflies flew in his stomach, like flowers bloomed inside his heart. Truly touching words...

Spade boi will smile gently at you, pink cheeks like powder blush, and eyes that sparkled Joy.

Expect this boi to grab your hands and put them in his pockets, saying "If taking a break is ok... Then this is ok right? Let's stay like this for a little bit longer... Ok?"

He'll look away in the other direction, propping his other hand and resting his head on it. If you look closely... A delicious red blush can be seen in his neck and ears too!

After a tiresome day as Mostro Lounge, the lounge closing a little later than the usual, A certain octopus is really tired and frustrated because the work got pushed back in their schedule.

As he skims through the numerous pages of parchment, octo boi let out a sigh from frustration. He has to deal with a lot of things this night....

But what he didn't expect was that you were there to brighten his night!

Have a short scenario cuz I love u ♡

Boisterous laughter. Joyful screams. Drinks spilt in the floors and tables. The lounge was getting rowdier with each passing second. Fights fuming in the other tables. Song being sung across the bars.

What's up with this chaos? Where was Jade and Floyd?.... Oh right... Azul nagged on floyd earlier this morning. He's now in his infamous bad moods leaving Jade the only responsible person azul can rely on. But Jade got his hands preoccupied with stopping fights at the moment... Dammit... This is going to be one hell of an evening.

After dealing with the chaos of Mostro Lounge's happy hour, strain and fatigue was evident just by a peek at Azul's Face.

"Haaahhhh... Dealing with those morons was a waste of time, I've still got a long night reviewing the deals and homeworks... Hah. Wonderful..." The sound of pen scratching the wood rang across the room as Azul hummed a melody trying to relieve stress...

"A.z.u.l. kun! Hello!" You happily hummed as azul got caught off guard shocked. "Hm! Oh! Y/n? When did you get here? Pardon me, The lounge was quite rowdy earlier and we had to close a little later than the usual... Oh wait a second lem me just take care of this..." Fingers swept through the crisp pages of numerous books. His pen lightly tapping a beat in the wooden desk.

Moments pass as seconds became minutes. The pen scratching noises enveloped the room drowning in silence. Azul was lost in thought as he burn through the hundreds of words written in the thin pieces of parchment.

You pout at the thought of azul ignoring you, but it's not like you can disturb his work either. So in the end, you just watch him skim through hundreds of pages and thousands of words. Eyebrows furrowed, he fixes his eyeglasses again...

Lost in thought, your eyes wanders off to his ungloved hand... The back of his hand looked smooth and it looked soft. Caught in the moment of daze, you didn't even realize your hands crept stealthily working its way to lock fingers with Azul. This caused azul to look at you in disbelief and shock as a tinge of pink paints his pale face.

What? Octoboi is confused. What? Why were you holding his hands? What? You're not letting go of his hands! futhermore, your fingers are INTERTWINED! Azul.exe has stopped working. Azul wasn't made for cute moments like this.

"Y/n... May I ask why you suddenly linked fingers with me?" Azul asked with his fingers tinged pink, face was painted red down to his neck. "Well... You looked really troubled while you were doing your work... So I thought that you can use a short break? You looked pretty stressed so...."

Ahhhh.... Azul really should've read that one romance book he once stumbled upon, how does he deal with this? Damn, he surely wasn't made for this... He stared up your eyes only to look away again bashfully.

Pfttt you gotta admit... Azul really looks cute like this. You slowy brought your lips to azul's hands. Chu~♡ a kiss on the hands! bingo! "There! Have a kiss as a token of my love for you and how much I care for you! Hehe!"

That's it, Azul needs maintenace after this... This is just too cute for his soul. Cheeks tinged red, he fixes his glasses up again. His hands lightly squeeze yours as he began to say "Well, I cannot abandon my work and responsibilities... But maybe it's not a crime if its just for a few minutes... Don't let go of my hand ok?" The night at Mostro Lounge was quite chilly than the usual. But the hours that passed by felt warmer with the hold of a certain octopus.

i was just reading your old dumbing of age posts, and also i've been carlaposting (see my #carla rutten tag if interested). There's still not a lot of carla appearances but she's been on my mind (maybe cause I always latch on to the most transhumanist character, even though they're usually not that transhumanist?) so I wonder if you have any carla thoughts you'd like to share from the four years since you made those doa posts

ngl, when I read this ask I mostly just thought "who?" since I have definitely not been keeping up with Dumbing of Age in that period (or webcomics in general really - K6BD is the only one I check semi-regularly nowadays.)

I really need to add some of the webcomics I used to read to Tachiyomi (assuming they're supported), but they're in that awkward place where I remember the early strips well enough that they're not super exciting to reread, but I don't remember the later strips well enough to find my place or indeed, remember who any of these people are. some point I just need to lie down with, say, Gunnerkrigg Court or Honey Crab and catch up on what I've been missing.

anyway! you asked about Carla! a quick check of the wiki confirms she was the acerbic, roller skating, trans girl character, who I was very taken with at the time I read it. I guess she had a lasting impact on me, in that Dumbing of Age reminded me that 1. roller derby exists and 2. they let trans girls play it, which I have since made a couple of attempts to do (the most recent being cut off by the pandemic, but hopefully I won't have lost too much when it's safe to skate once more). so thanks for that one Carla! I wonder what sarcastic comment you'd make.

since I don't really remember this comic very well, that's about all I can say, but let me go on anyway.

I guess I'm no longer in a place where I fixate on any and all trans girl characters in fiction, and instead come at them from something of a more analytical perspective these days. Carla seems fun though!

I was totally unaware that she was based on a robot car who became a gynoid from It's Walky!; all that went right over my head so at the time I read the comic, she was just a surprisingly cool character. obviously a lot of trans girls identify with inanimate objects in some way - robots most often, but really can be anything - so if she does have a car TF fetish going on later, good for her lmao. sure hope someone showed her Adolescence of Utena.

from the handful of strips I re-sampled, I don't think I'd get along great with Carla - no doubt I'd take some of her constant stream of mean-but-not-serious jokes to heart, and we'd both get frustrated with each other. I guess you could argue some of that would be Willis's particular voice, and the somewhat affected, sharp exchanges of a gag-a-day webcomic, rather than something 'essential' to the character. it's curious to imagine how my own personality might get simplified and abstracted if I had to be a webcomic character.

uh, what else, what else? the business model of Dumbing of Age is pretty curious to me - not the patreon part, that's pretty universal now, but the part where he draws porn of his characters and sells it on Slipshine. I feel like it wouldn't be too difficult develop that into some kind of analysis of how the emotional connections we form with fictional characters factor into erotica, a niche that often goes unfulfilled hence fanfiction etc.; in any case Willis approaches it with a certain irony (you go on slipshine and the thumbnail says 'Walky does a sex'), I guess to puncture the likely embarassment of someone paying money for porn of a webcomic they like?

in any case, idk if it's just something he does for fun or like, a major source of income, but in any case it's unusual, since in my experience webcomics are usually either strictly sfw (the vast majority), strictly porn/sex comedy (e.g. I Roved Out, Oglaf, basically all the other content on Slipshine), or mostly sfw stories aimed at adults with the occasional nsfw scene as fits the narrative (e.g. Souls Foreclosed, Kill Six Billion Demons, The Less Than Epic Adventures of TJ and Amal, The Meek). 'read the story, now wanna pay for the porn?' seems like a model that makes some kind of cynical sense, so I'm surprised more authors don't adopt it.

Anyway, this is a little interesting because I have been wondering about making another attempt at creating a webcomic, since animation takes approximately forever to do so if I want to tell an original story, 'webcomic with occasional animation' in the manner of Homestuck, Honey Crab or Ava's Demon may work as a compromise. I don't think I could manage a perpetual, years-long webcomic. I have no idea how someone like Willis or the Schlock Mercenary guy (is that still going?) manages to keep producing enough material to fill up the buffer for all those years of daily comics but it's very impressive. Still, the comics I would aspire to draw like are the more 'graphic novel' kind, with big pages, varied panel layouts and camera angles, maybe even playing around with web tech to add a little interactivity and motion. Stuff that would keep it interesting and novel to create, punch through that ADHD.

Though thinking about it, Willis's strength is, I guess, much like Hussie - developing a huge cast of reasonably fleshed out characters, drawing them quickly on model with a variety of expressions, and having the confidence to synthesise storylines and let them play off each other. Many of the most successful webcomics lean on something similar: you can use all the gimmicky 'infinite canvas' techniques you want, and that can really accentuate a project and take it to another level, but the artistic Cordyceps that really worms its way into peoples' brains is "just" that character writing. Without that you still have nothing... good to remember...

BEFORE YOU START PLEASE READ THIS!

Alright, to start off let me explain how I want you to play this. All I expect of you is to just to either copy the questions or the numbers of the questions and answer them, and once you are done, I guess just re-blog it so others can play this too. I will include my answers under each question to inspire those who aren’t sure what to write or what they would do, and for those who want to get to know me more.

I actually made this because I want to see how everyone actually would react to specific situations so I can, when it comes to writing stories for you all, make them more relatable and not something where you would read the story and think “Umm I/My MC would never do something like this.... “ alright let me stop wasting time now

WARNING THIS CONTAINS SPOILERS FOR SEASON 1!!

Questions

1. Is this going to be about you or your OC/MC?

this is going to be about me, I think it will be about the things I would do realistically

2. What were you wearing when you first arrived? (Casual, smart, PJs, etc. Describe your outfit)

Realistically speaking, I imagine myself arriving to devildom wearing my favourite BNHA hoodie and some black joggers/sweatpants

3. What we're you doing before you got teleported into devildom?

I actually like to headcanon/imagine that MC originally signed up to study abroad and as they go to the airport and sit on the plane, 2 hours into the flight as they are staring out of the window, they suddenly notice how the light suddenly went off around them and everything went quiet, so when they look away from the window to see what's going on they see that actually somehow everyone feel asleep around them, even the stewards and stewardess. When MC looks back out of the window they suddenly see everything is actually upside down, the plane is flying normally but the city/ land that they saw is suddenly now in the sky and the clouds are at the bottom, and suddenly the airplane starts lowering itself into the clouds which start looking more orange and grey. That is when they suddenly hear Belphagore's voice calling for them as they slowly drift to sleep and then end up waking up in devildom.

4. First reaction when you get there

Once again Realistically speaking, I'd think this was all either A) a dream (based on Q3), B) A big joke or C) A game show or like a Darren brown kinda thing.

I would probably just be laughing at the whole situation out of nervousness and be like " ya guys are joking right? Hahaha very funny.... ok how do I wake up now?"

5. Reaction to finding out their names

The amount of times I'm going to repeat the word 'Realistically' in this post is uncountable, but realistically speaking I would start bursting out laughing when Satan and Lucifer would introduce themselves. I can imagine myself making fun of it and be like "SATAN AND LUCIFER??!! BWAHAHAHAHAHA IF YOU GUYS ARE SATAN AND LUCIFER, I'M BEYONCE! BWWAAAAHAHAHAHA"

I can clearly imagine them getting pissed at me due to this, because imagine someone laughs at you after you tell them your name, quite rude isn't it ? Lolol

6. Reaction to them actually dancing (dance battles )

In the beginning I'd start laughing but then also die out of second hand embarassment. I don't know why but seeing people dance makes me uncomfortable.

7. If you were to stand next to the characters where does your MC/ OC / Do you imagine yourself to reach up to?

(Going from tallest to smallest )

Beelzebub/Lucifer/Diavolo - around the chest area, Def not reaching up to their shoulders.

Simeon / Solomon / Satan / Barbatos - up to their necks

Leviathan / Mammon - up to their chins

Asmodeus / Belphagore - their ears

Luke my cute little sweet baby that I'm ready to kill for - he would reach up to my shoulders lmao

8. Would you miss anyone? When would you start missing them ?

My family? Lolol no, I wouldn't miss them.

I would only miss my friends and my cats probably after satan would talk about cats. I can imagine me missing them after the first week or the second week

9. Who would you be closest to ?

I can imagine myself being close to the following : Leviathan, Asmodeus and Satan. I think I'd be really good friends with levi or asmo though since they are both invested into things that I'm also really into. Ah! I forgot to mention, I'd try to be friends with Mammon if I saw the brothers getting rude to him.

I'd try to get close to Lucifer but be a bit intimidated by him though and Mammon's tsundere act would kinda hurt me, but after I would realize that he's a tsundere I would be be friends with him.

10. Realistically speaking would you go up the stairs when Lucifer tells you not to?

Honestly, I would respect Lucifer's wishes and not go up the stairs but if Belphagore doesn't shut the fuck up and keeps telling me to come to him, I'd probably go.

11. How would you react after Belphie kills you? What would you say to him ?

After the whole killing thing and me seeing my dead body, I would be shocked and probably start swearing worse than s sailor and then lunge at him and beat him up out of anger. Honestly If I ever got the chance to make one of my wishes come true, it would be to get in a fist fight with Belphagore, where I would beat the living hell out of him.

12. How would you react after finding out you left the original timeline?

I would honestly be sad about it, yes I get it that in this timeline we still have the same characters but honestly I would struggle accepting the new ones, and end up missing the original ones.

I think it would also result to me constantly thinking, if this Satan likes me, would the original Satan also like me? What would he have done in this situation, etc.

13. Reaction to finding out about being Liliths descendent?

One word : shit

I would think it would be cool at first but then when I'd realize that the brothers are technically like my great-great¹⁰⁰⁰ granduncle ( ik that it says that human Lilith is not related to the brothers by blood ) I'd be a bit .... disturbed. I'd definitely crack a lot of grandpa jokes with them and joking call them "grandpapi" randomly.

Honestly though it would also make me feel bad about myself because I'd start thinking that they would start treating me as Lilith's replacement or that they are actually trying to find Lilith in me. But I guess after some time I'd get over it.

14. Reaction to the demon brothers being in their demon form ?

It's simple, if they are angry while being in their form, I'd be wary of them for a while, but if they are calm while being in it, I'd be amazed and ask a lot of questions, resulting to me jumping around excitedly and trying to touch them.

15. On the last day, realistically what would you do? Would you hug the brothers ? If you were to leave devildom who would you stay in contact with?

Honestly I'd kiss the character that I'd fall for the night before I leave. I can imagine that it's either Satan, Mammon, Lucifer, Leviathan or Solomon. It's either go big or go home!

I'd take one of those typical Victorian family pictures with everyone in it, meaning diavolo and barbs, the demon brothers, the angels and Solomon, and I'd make a copy for everyone to keep. I'd also maybe make something that they call all remember me by such as personalized keychains or bracelets.

I can definitely imagine myself staying in contact with Leviathan because... You know... Anime lolol and Solomon since he is the only human who I could talk to about devildom and everything that happened there. I'd love to stay in contact with the others but I feel like I won't be able to entertain them much via texting. I'd also love to stay in contact with the angels but I think we all know that won't be possible. Sad sigh

Would I cry? ... Yes, I would get ready eyed and hug them

16. Lastly, What would you tell your family and friends when you return, what will you tell them when they ask you about where you disappeared off to?

Honestly, I would tell my family about everything that happened, I'd tell them about devildom and everything I experienced since I know they would believe me because our family already has some history with demons and spiritual stuff.

However, I'd definitely lie to my friends saying something such as me breaking my phone when I went to study abroad causing me to lose contact as I was gone.

To be honest, this was really fun to make and answer, it really got me thinking about myself and my personality. I really hope you guys also end up doing this, and enjoy yourself. If you guys want I can also make part 2 which will contain scenes from season 2.

Summer,1904,Idris

At the Herondale Manor in Idris,Lucie could barely pretend not to be excited,as she stood in front of the mirror.

Today was her birthday,her 17th birthday to be exact. Birthdays were quite important for the Herondales,since they knew how short a life could be.

Most of Lucie's birthdays were in London though,as her father,Will,would take her to the Portal,they would appear at the gates of the Institute,and inside Lucie would find her family and friends in a surprise party.

A surprise party she obviously knew about,so she usually spends a good amount of time rehearsing surprised faces.

That is what she was doing now,in the bathroom of her room. It wouldn't take long for Tessa to show up and congratulate her,and also tell her to speed it up.

Lucie wasn't really in the mood to speed it up today though,she was trying to make the perfect surprised face today,after all,she had a certain Blackthorn to impress.

James would make fun of her,no doubt. Luckily,he would be with Daisy so he wasn't going to pay attention to Lucie on that matter.

-Lucie! Are you done there darling!? Your father wants you to come and have breakfast with us!-Tessa said.

Lucie opened the door,she was still wearing the pink nightgown Grace had given her,as a way to thank her for helping bring Jesse back.

Lucie accepted the gift with quite some joy,since it wasn't like Grace to give anyone gifts. And the nightgown was very beautiful.

-I just need to get dressed Mam! I won't take too long!-Lucie said,as Tessa pulled her to a hug.

-My darling Lucie! Happy birthday my sweet girl! Seventeen years! You are almost an adult now!-Tessa said,nearly crying.

-Mam! Please save your tears for a more impactful moment of today!-Said Lucie,truth was,she was almost crying as well.

-Well get dressed then! And please hurry!-Tessa said,and left the room.

Lucie decided to wear a pink dress,one she used when Will asked for a portrait of her to be made. It was one of her favorite dresses.

She went downstairs and to the dining room,where her parents and James were having breakfast.

-The birthday girl finally decided to show up! Happy birthday sister!-James said,kissing Lucie's forehead.

-Thank you Jamie.-Lucie said,smiling,as Will approached her and hugged her.

-I cannot believe my Lulu is turning seventeen. I feel as if i ought to cry the entire day.-Will said,grinning.

-Papa! Enough with that silly nickname! It is embarassing!-Lucie said.

-And what are parents for if not to embarass their children?-Will asked,and they all laughed.

Those were really happy times. But the day was just beginning.

Lucie and James were walking around the Herondale Manor. Truth was,apparently James had found a mysterious lake nearby that they never knew about. But Lucie was not buying it.

-That sounds so untruth! As a writer,i should have been the one to find this lake,so i could describe it in The Beautiful Cordelia!-Lucie said.

James shook his head.

-Try to forget about novels today,Luce. You are almost eighteen now. Do you have any idea which Institute you would like to visit?-James asked.

Lucie had already thought about that. She was waiting to see if the Clave would approve of Jesse's visit to the New York Institute. He wasn't seventeen anymore,obviously.

He had two ages,but since he did not had the chance before,he was considering visiting now.

And if the Clave approved,she would choose the New York Institute to got with him.

-Not really. I don't really want to think about that right now. Much can happen in a year. I am sure i will be certain of my answer in my next birthday.-Lucie said.

James nodded.

-Seems fair. I am sure we will have lots of fun today. By the way,i know that you were rehearsing today.-James said,and smiled.

Lucie felt like punching him in the stomach,which would be easy,since she was much shorter than him.

-My surprise faces are the best! And i was under the impression you would keep my secret! I think it pleases Papa and Mam if they think that i am really surprised.-Lucie said.

-I am sure they probably know that you pretend. But now is not the time to think about that. Let's go back to the Manor.-James said.

Lucie nodded,and so they did.

As Lucie opened the great doors of the Herondale Manor,she shrieked when she heard a very loud "Surprise" shout.

The living room was full of people,her parents,her family and all her friends.

She covered her mouth with her hands,and turned her attention to James,who was standing beside her,with a smile on his face.

-This was definitely your best surprise face,Luce.-He said.

Minutes Later

-I cannot believe it! This was your idea Daisy?-Lucie asked,looking at her Parabatai,that was laughing.

-James told me that usually your father would bring you to the Institute,so i thought it would be good if we changed the routine once in a while.-Said Cordelia.

-That was brilliant! For the first time,i was truly surprised!-Lucie said.

-And we had help from Magnus to make all this food appear here. I was afraid the cake would loose itself in somekind of random realm.-Matthew said.

Lucie looked at him. It has been almost an entire year since Matthew was sobber. It was good to see that he was being able to overcome his problems.

-Good thing it didn't! A birthday without a cake is quite anticlimactic!-Said Lucie.

She stared at the cake. It was quite big,a combination of strawberry and chocolate,Lucie could only hope that her mother would eat as well. She knew Tessa wasn't very fond of chocolate.

-You better go greet the others Lucie,and allow them to congratulate you.-James said.

Lucie nodded. James was right,she had to do that,it would be a good opportunity to talk to Jesse too.

Aunt Charlotte and Uncle Henry were the first to come and talk to her. Charlotte could barely go to the other birthdays she had,but since they were in Idris,it made it a lot easier for her to show up.

Charles came after,Lucie still had a hard time being around Charles. Some of his actions and words made Lucie seriously doubt if he would ever be a decent Consul.

-Lucie dear! Happy birthday! This is quite the party you are having!-Said Anna,and with her was Ariadne.

-Congratulations! I really loved your dress Lucie!-Ariadne said.

-Thank you! I'm so glad you two could come! How is your father dealing with the both of you being together?-Lucie asked.

Ariadne shrugged.

-I'm not really sure. He says it is okay,but always avoids the conversation.-Ariadne said.

-Don't let her fool you Ari! She is only trying to get a description out of you! She is a bloody writer!-Anna said,and Lucie laughed.

Uncle Gabriel and Aunt Cecily came to her,apparently Alexander was playing with his red rubber ball somewhere else.

-Lucie my beautiful niece! You will soon become an adult Shadowhunter! And then we will start our plan to take control of the Clave! Only women will lead!-Cecily said,hugging Lucie.

-That seems quite a difficult plan!-Lucie said.

-Don't listen to her Luce! We all know that you will become a great Shadowhunter and a great writer as well! I'm still waiting to have my own copy of The Beautiful Cordelia.-Gabriel said.

-Sorry Uncle Gabriel,but i'm afraid you will have to wait for it's publication.-Lucie said.

Eugenia,Sophie and Gideon also congratulated her,and it reminded Lucie of Barbara,and how she was always nice and cheerful. Lucie missed her cousin.

Lucie began to feel a little tired since she had been standing for quite a while now. She sat beside Thomas.

-Thank goodness you are not standing Tom! I wouldn't like to make you come all the way down just to hug me!-Lucie said.

Thomas smiled and kissed her forehead.

-It would be for a good reason. I am so glad to see that you are enjoying the party. When Cordelia had the idea of having the party at the Manor,i wasn't really sure if you would like it or not. Since we can literally see the ruins of the Blackthorn Manor from here.-Thomas said.

It was true. James had accidentally burned the Blackthorn Manor to the ground,and it was possible to see the outcome of that.

Lucie wasn't sure if seeing that would be awful for Grace and Jesse,but they didn't seemed to mind.

-Have you heard the big news Lucie? Christopher and Grace now have an understanding!-Thomas said.

Lucie would literally have screamed if the Manor were not so full.

She stood up and went to Grace's direction. It was Impossible not to recognize Grace,always in her ivory dresses.

-Grace! By the Angel,is it really true?-Lucie asked.

-Happy birthday Lucie. I hope you won't mind my presence here?-Grace asked.

-I'm glad that you came Grace. Our friendship has a special meaning to me.-Said Lucie.

Grace nodded.

-To me as well. I will always be grateful to you,for you helped me get my brother back. I will never forget your kindness.-Grace said.

-I am just as happy that Jesse was able to return. But do tell me! Is it truth? You and my cousin Christopher have an understanding?-Lucie asked.

Grace laughed. That rarely happened.

-It is true. Almost every men i met in my life thought that i was like all the other girls. That i only wished for emotions and feelings. But Christopher is different. He doesn't try to give me what he thinks i want. He listens to me,he makes me laugh with all that science of his. Being with him makes me feel lighter.-Grace said,smiling.

-That is adorable! I wish all the best for the both of you!-Lucie said.

-Gracie,might we have this dance? I swear to you i have been practicing the waltz with my mother and i will not step on your toes! Oh,hello Lucie! Happy birthday!-Christopher said,almost too fast.

-Of course,Chris. Excuse me,Lucie. Before i forget,my brother is in the garden,he wishes to speak to you,in private.-Grace said.

Lucie did not waste a second,she went straight to the garden of the Herondale Manor.

It was a sunny day in Idris,and the big trees in the garden created long shadows on the ground.

Jesse was near the tree,the shadow protecting him from the sun. It has been quite some time since he had returned from the dead,but he was still getting used to the light.

When he saw Lucie,a smile appeared on his handsome face.

-Finally,the Secret Princess Lucie has found time to talk to the Good Old Ghost Boy.-Jesse said.

Lucie put her hands on her hips.

-In her birthdays,Secret Princess Lucie can barely escape the attention of the Cruel Prince James,of the Demon Pox King William,and of the Shape-Shifter Queen Theresa.-Lucie said.

Jesse's eyes widened.

-Your father is Demon Pox King?-He asked,astonished.

Lucie only giggled.

-Perhaps Good Old Ghost Boy should have come to her rescue?-Jesse asked.

Lucie shook her head.

-Absolutely not! I am no damsel in distress i assure you! Grace said that you wanted to talk to me,so here i am! You may talk to me now!-Lucie said.

-How lucky i am,to get your attention for myself when everyone seems desperate to be with you.-Jesse said.

-That only happens in my birthdays. My attention will be on you,mostly.-Lucie said.

Jesse smiled. It did seemed like he had something important to say.

-So how has it been with the Clave? Will they allow you to go to the New York Institute?-Lucie asked.

-Charlotte Fairchild have talked to me when i arrived for your party. As the Consul,she said that i have permission. But it can't be this year. Since i was brought back,the Silent Brothers want to keep their closed eyes on me for a little more time. I can only visit next year.-Said Jesse.

Lucie beamed.

-That is absolutely perfect Jesse! How lucky of you!-Lucie said.

Jesse raised his eyebrows.

-Why am i lucky?-He asked.

-Well,i do become eighteen years old next year. In other words,i could go with you,if you are willing to wait.-Lucie said.

Jesse laughed.

-Well,it seems i really am lucky. Nothing would please me more than having your company.-Jesse said.

-It is settled then! You and i in New York,next year!-Said Lucie.

Jesse took her hands.

-Have you taken a look at your gifts? I'm sure you will love most of them. Perhaps all of them,if you are in a good day.-Jesse said.

Lucie was rather curious. What was his gift for her?

-What have you gotten me,Jesse? Will i like it? Or will i hate it?-Lucie asked.

-We shall see. If you don't mind,i would like to give you your gift right now.-Jesse said.

-Very well then. Please do.-She said.

Jesse leaned in close to her,and his lips touched hers,smooth and nicely.

They were holding hands as they kissed. Jesse tasted like honey and something more sweet than that. It was a taste she could only associate to him.

Their lips parted,and he smiled. That was probably the best gift Lucie had ever gotten.

-Happy birthday Lucie.-Jesse said.

The Uchiha In The Leaves (Part Nine)

(Kakashi x Reader)

Summary: What happens when Y/N finally returns to the Village Hidden in the Leaves? Her life is flipped upside down when not only does she find the man that’s awaited her return, but she finds someone she thought she’d never see again.

*Y/n's P.O.V*

I found Sasuke sitting on the small porch in front of the house. He was sitting on the step when I opened the door. He didn't move when I came out so I sat down next to him. I put my head in my hands for a minute before I talked to him. "I'm sorry Sasuke."

He looked over at me. "For what?"

"Last night, I should never have taken my anger and stress out on you like that."

"It's okay. I get it. I struck a nerve with what I said and I shouldn't have."

I wrapped my arm around his shoulder and pulled him into me. "You know that I cared more about you and your safety than I did having Zabuza alive, right? I would have died trying to save you if he had gotten any further yesterday."

"I know." Sasuke looked up at me. "I just couldn't stand to see you as hurt as you were when he went after Kakashi-Sensei. You two weren't as secretive as you thought you were walking through the woods either."

I chuckled at him. "You three can't say anything when we get back to the village. It has to stay between the three of us. Kakashi and I don't want people in the village to look at us any differently. I don't want them to break our team up. It's going to be hard enough to hide that the two of us are together when you come home with us."

"You have my word Y/n." Sasuke stood up from the porch, leaning down to kiss the top of my head. "Love you big sis." He smiled as he walked back into the house.

As Sasuke walked through the door Kakashi walked out. He sat down next to me with a loud sigh. "Are you alright?"

I looked over and smiled. "Yea. I'm fine. Just had to have a heart to heart with him after what happened yesterday. I told him that the three of them needed to keep our relationship to themselves until we're ready to say something."

Kakashi kissed the side of my head. The Mask was silky as it touched my temple. "Eventually we will. We just need to find the right time."

I sighed and laid my head on his shoulder. At least with the kids knowing it would be a little easier for us around them. We wouldn't have to worry as much about what we said.

* * * * * *

Training the kids for the upcoming battle would be the hardest thing we had to do. We had told them to meet the two of us in the forest the following morning. Kakashi still wasn't completely up to par and had resorted to walking around using crutches to keep his balance as much as he could. I was still recovering from my injuries, but we had to prepare them as soon as possible. Who knew when Zabuza would strike again? And who would he bring with him this time?

The three of them stood in front of us, ready to learn. Kakashi leaned on his crutches and was hopeful that the kids were as ready to learn as they looked. "Okay, training starts now."

Naruto was excited, like he always was. "Alright!"

"First," Kakashi put one finger up. "We'll begin with a review on chakra, the ninja's basic source of power. Understanding chakra is essential."

Sasuke was getting cocky, something that was his specialty lately. "We know that."

Naruto piped up with him. "He's right, a long time ago we learned about catra..."

I hung my head and looked over at them, hoping my disappointment was clear. "Chakra..."

Naruto looked embarrassed and started to sweat. Kakashi looked over at Sakura. "Go ahead Sakura." He knew she would be able to explain everything to Naruto quickly.

Sakura put her hands on her hips and I smiled and chuckled a little, Kakashi watching me out the corner of his eye. "Alright, Naruto. I'll explain it simply so you can understand it. Chakra is the elemental life energy that a ninja uses in jutsu. It's the source of his power. Now this energy comes in two forms; there's the phsyical energy which exists in all the cells and the entire body all work together. The other is spiritual energy, the primal source of power which is intensified by training and experience."

I yawned and saw Kakashi smile at me, trying not to laugh at me as Sakura continued. "As you see, these two chakra must be drawn out and brought together in order to perform jutsu. Finally, hand signs focus and unleash the chakra."

When Sakura looked back at Kakashi with a smile he looked over at Naruto. "Right on all points. Iruka-Sensei really did have some excellent students."

Naruto was still sweating. "What's the big deal with all these complicating explanations? The whole point is to learn the jutsu, isn't it?"

Sasuke looked annoyed, but he couldn't help but agree with Naruto. "Naruto is right for once. We're already using chakra in our jutsu."

I looked over at me little brother and raised my eyebrows. "No! You have not mastered this power, you've barely scratched the surface of it!" I was just as frustrated with Sasuke's cockiness as Kakashi was getting.

Naruto started to raise his voice. "What do you mean?"

Kakashi sighed. "Calm down a listen." How did we end up with these two stubborn kids? "It's just like Sakura said, you have to draw on physical and spiritual energies and then combine them. But, how do you do that?" Kakashi looked over at me, clearly wanting me to continue. He knew that Sasuke listen best to me.

I nodded. "Each jutsu uses a differnt type of chakra and in different proportions. You must select and combine them in exactly the right way. Up to now you've just guessed at the proportions, hoping they'd come out right. Even if you produce a lot of chakra, if you can't balance and control it, it's all worthless. The jutsu wont work at all of it'll be a joke. You waste so much energy that way and then you're out of chakra and you can't fight at all, you're just a target."

Naruto looked a little embarassed, knowing he had a problem with that in the academy. He scratched his head. "So how do we change that?"

I was getting more frustrated so Kakashi cut me off. "Train so hard that controlling your chakra becomes second nature. To achieve this goal you must be ready to put your life on the line."

They all looked confused, especially Sakura. "What do we have to do?"

Kakashi pointed up. "Climb a tree."

They all spoke at once, complete confusion in their voices. "Climb a tree?"

"That's right." I smiled and cut Kakashi off. "But there's one rule; no hands."

Now the kids were even more confused. Sakura just looked annoyed. "What? You're kidding?"

"Are we? Let's see." Kakashi looked over at me and nodded. We both put our hands together and balanced our chakra. Kakashi hobbled over to the nearest tree and I followed. We climbed up the same tree , using just our chakra, focused on our feet. The kids stared dumbfounded on the ground. Just to throw them off even more we walked to the largest branch on the tree and hung upside down, having to focus even harder so we wouldn't plummet to the ground. "You get the idea. Focus your chakra to the soles of your feet and use it to connect to the tree. This is one way to use the power of chakra." Kakashi smiled at them.

"Wait a minute, that's a nice trick, but how does that help us fight Zabuza?" Sakura was once again, full of questions.

I let out a breath to calm down a little before speaking. "It's the only way to fight Zabuza. That's the entire goal of this training you guys. First, you'll learn how to draw a precise amount of chakra to a precise part of your body. This is difficult for even advanced ninja. This type of climbing requires a precise mixture of physical and spiritual energy and the bottoms of the feet are the most difficult place to balance chakra. Are you getting the picture? If you can master this, you can master any jutsu."

Kakashi interrupted me. "Well, theoretically," I shot him a glare. "The second point is to learn to maintain your chakra. When a ninja is in battle it's even harder to maintain and control his chakra levels, a deadly mistake. To avoid this maintaining chakra must become second nature, effortless." I paused for a second. "Well, I could talk about this all day, but that won't advance your skills, will it? You need to apply the power of chakra through training."

Kakashi pulled out two kunai and I pulled out one. We threw them to the kids. Naruto and Sakura caught Kakashi's and Sasuke caught mine. I spoke. "Use the kunai to mark the tree at the highest mark that you can climb, without using your hands. Then try to get past that mark the next time. At first you'll need to run at the tree so your momentum will take you as high as possible. Until you get used to it anyway."

Kakashi continued where I left off. We were trying our hardest to teach as a pair. "Ready?"

Naruto picked up his kunai. "I'm ready. This is gonna be no sweat all the way, believe it. Remember what you said Sensei. I'm the one that's grown the most."

It was then that we knew we should never have said that to him. Kakashi sighed. "You're definitely the one that talks the most. Now get focused and do it."

Naruto looked offended, but shook it off. The kids put their hands together and started to balance their chakra. They all took off at a run. Naruto made it two steps up the tree before falling. Sasuke made it about a quarter of the way before his chakra balance went off and smashed the tree some with his foot, marking it with the knife before coming back down. Sakura on the other hand sat on a branch about halfway up her tree, smiling down on the boys. I was extremely proud of her. "Well," I looked particularly at Sasuke, not afraid to be the toughest on him. "Looks like the female member of the squad has the most chakra control."

Sakura stuck her tongue out at the boys and Kakashi praised her. "Well done Sakura."

Naruto was at least being a good sport about it. "Yea! Good job Sakura. I always knew you were awesome, believe it."

Sasuke looked up at me and mumbled, not realizing that we could all hear him. "Whatever."

Sakura was instantly distraught, clearly she was hoping she would impress him. Kakashi tried to help her out a little. "Not only can Sakura control chakra, she can hold and maintain it as well." He looked toward Naruto. "We spoke about someone becoming Hokage one day, didn't we?" He was trying to get a rise out of the boys to make them try harder. "Seems Sakura's got the best chance of that. Wouldn't you say?" Kakashi stepped over the line with his next crack, not only getting a rise from Sasuke, but from me. "And as for the great Uchiha clan, maybe they're not so great after all."

Sasuke and I glared at Kakashi, and so did Sakura. "Shut up Sensei, you talk to much."

Kakashi looked over at me. "Alright, I think they're motivated. I know Naruto and Sasuke have much more chakra within. If this training works their mastery of chakra will become a valuable asset."'

I was still glaring. "And you little comment about the Uchiha clan? What was that?"

"I was just trying to get your brother going, I know how he feels about your clan."

"Well, don't push it with that again Kakashi, or I'll knock your chakra off balance and let you fall from this tree."

He chuckled at me. "You're cute when you're angry." If steam could be coming from my ear it would be. And with that, they all began to attempt the tree again, each time getting just a little farther.

* * * * * *

After an hour or so the kids were all exhausted. The kids were definitely learning from the teamwork. Naruto went and huddled next to Sakura. Kakashi smiled at me. "He's catching on. From now one he'll only get stronger and stronger. How strong tho?"

I leaned my head on his shoulder. "Naruto possesses more chakra than Sasuke. I can feel it."

"In fact, the amount of chakra he possesses is greater than my own, and yours."
