"I see, but I'm glad the tradition will continue in future generations."
The subject of the mysterious WonderWatch is almost concluded for Tempo, as more information is needed to understand how it works, but the help of the two watchmakers has been much more useful than she imagined. The maestro accompanies the men to return them to their rightful place. The first went to Yejun, where Tempo, with a whistle, a door appears in the middle of the great tower under construction.
"Sun-Yejun, your destiny here was to pass the balance test with Balan, but because of your ill-intentioned criminal action, judged by me you were to proceed, but already the situation worsened by stealing my watch."
"I'm sorry, miss" - he regrets with his head down.
"I forgive you, but not the rules of WonderWorld. So unfortunately you will no longer be able to return here until a possible new life. Your Humanity was already admonished in this world, so, at least you have Tale here.
"Tale?"
"The Tales of WonderWorld"-Dominic interjects in the conversation-"They are those books that keep the history of our lives, that's what Balan said."
"I see..." The interested Yejun mutters.
"You won something. But...your evolution has deserved something...you know" The maestro of Opportunity mentions with a little pride in her "Thank you very much, Alicia...no, Tempo."
"I hope your dreams come true, you still have time, for changes to come."
The man waves goodbye gently waving his hands as he walks to the door. Once he enters it, it closes and disappears.
Now, only the two of them were left, and Tempo with a snap, opens a hole.
"Mr. Dominic, I am very grateful for your patience. You shouldn't have been involved, but you helped both me and Yejun."
"Forgive the intrusion, but... that earring..." The old man brings his fingers close to the jewel.
"Ah? This one? This, I'd like to take it out, but I can't."
"You wouldn't mind if I checked it."
"All right."
The tall lady bends down, pulls her long hair back and the old man, with his monocle checks the earring in Tempo's right ear.
"No doubt about it...that's the earring my great-grandfather created."
"Huh?"
"Mmmm...I bet you got it from some relative of mine."
"Emmm...from my best friend...but, I lost the other one."
"I see, but I'm glad the tradition will continue in future generations."
"ª? What's that about?
"This jewel is made of a rare material of unknown provenance. He says it comes from a meteorite that fell on the house of an ancestor of mine. My great-grandfather created these earrings as a sign of marriage commitment. Ah, and now my eldest son gave them as a gift to his fiancée, and so it will be for the next generations."
Tempo, analyzing, realizes that Christopher is actually Dominic's direct descendant, since Guido, gave the earrings earlier to Lia, as a symbol of engagement without her knowledge. Tempo's white face blushes completely.
"Hahaha, so your boyfriend is my future direct relative?" What a coincidence, no?"
"No-no!!! He's my best friend...I guess...ah! He, he just gave them to me when we were kids!"
The old man pats the maestro's arm, looking at her proudly.
"Miss, I'm sure this boy still loves you. According to my intuition, there will be a time when the two of you will be reunited."
"Don't say that, if I see him...then, something bad will happen to him...and..."
"Oh? So it's a bad omen?"
"No, no. Well, it depends... mostly worse things happen when someone comes to my aid."
"If so, I know you'll help him, and try to talk to him if you want to so much."
"Mr. Dominic"-the girl sighs with disappointment-" I'm Tempo now. The Alicia you knew has already come to an end once a deal was taken. My mission will only be to help the visitors if it becomes possible."
"Oh, yeah?"
"Huh?"
"We'll let fate take its course, we'll be very excited to see."
"Excited?"-Tempo frowns in doubt before the old man's words.
"I retire to my stage, to my time. It was nice to hear that you are well. And...please make me forget everything that happened here. I don't want your past self and myself to feel confusion unintentionally."
"I will. May you be happy, in what's left of your life, sir."
"My pleasure, my dear lady. And I hope you find happiness with the man you love, my distant descendant."
"..."
The old man walks to the portal and disappears.
Tempo, heads for La Madriguera. Once seated in the tree where she always usually is, she sings while many tears turned Drops fall from her eyes, following the same circle of melancholy of a Maestro of Opportunity.

🎁 Katniss & Prim @hvbris (for Prim arena verse?)

spotify wrapped time! send me a "🎁" and i'll write a starter using lyrics from a random song in my top 100 playlist!
🎵 Alone Again ; The Weeknd

@hvbris // & Primrose
"I don't know if I can be alone again."
Watching Prim go the first time around had felt like falling into the abyss, the ground swallowing her just as it had mercilessly swallowed their father. Helpless. Trapped. Not even the woods could stop Katniss feeling like a rat in a barrel, going round and round in circles while all her thoughts turned towards the Capitol, the arena, to her baby sister facing death in all manner of ways.
Against all odds- and they surely hadn't been in her favour that day- Prim had come home. Victorious. But only half a year on, the Capitol were summoning her back to mentor the next batch of unlucky tributes.
Katniss looked at her little sister, studying her face in the flickering of the lamp light. Not so little anymore.

Last Straw (Lando Norris x Reader)
Thank you for the 400 followers. I love Lando but I felt like a bit of angst was needed.
Part 1 of Fading Shadow
Summary- Lando has been in a relationship for quite some time, most people didn't know that. Finally, the world finds out about Lando's girlfriend, he seems to forget about her.
Warning- Lando is a bit of an ass and the reader is a bit of a doormat
Tumblr media
{Reader's POV}
Lando won the second race of his career and the season at Zandvoort, Max's home race. I was over the moon watching Lando cross the finish line. He was so happy to have won another race, finally. As he got out of the car he ran to his parents; after the greeting and congratulations, he walked away to be interviewed. I was stood there, dumb founded as Lando left without even acknowledging my existence; I could hear people whispering as Lando walked away
When we got back to the hotel, "Lan, do you wanna go out to celebrate?" I asked looking at him as he got ready for a shower. "Oh, Y/N, I made plans with the others; none of their girlfriends are coming. It'd be weird" he stated. "Oh, yeah, obviously. Well, I hope you have fun. I'll be here waiting for you" I said trying to give him a smile but I felt tears well up. Lando left soon after, while I was sat in the hotel scrolling through twitter when I saw something I wish I hadn't. I couldn't stop myself from reading through the tweets.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I could already imagine my friends screaming at me for staying after everything. It had always been like this, it always felt like Lando was too embarrassed to be seen with me. We started dating a year and a half back but we met 2 years back, when I was on a vacation with my friends. He was the best guy, or so I thought. We exchanged numbers and stayed in contact until he asked me out. It was straight out of a movie, the whole nine yards. But he wouldn't let me tell my friends, "baby come on, why do you wanna tell everyone and ruin the fun just yet. I like the thrill, isn't it fun trying to act like there's nothing between us" he said as he pushed me on my back on the sofa while his lips trailed the exposed skin on my torso; honestly I'd lose any train of thought once his lips were on my skin. Though I accidentally let it slip one day, they had been trying to get me to go on a blind date. So, I told them I was dating Lando Norris. They were so excited and wanted to meet him.
When Lando found out about that, he was furious and didn't speak to me for days. "HOW COULD YOU TELL THEM? AFTER ALL THE TIMES I TOLD YOU NOT TO....ARE YOU STUPID?" he shouted. "Lan, it was an honest mistake. They kept trying to set me up on a blind date and I didn't wanna go, obviously since I have you. Please, I'm sorry. I won't do anything stupid again. Please just join me for lunch on Sunday. I'm really sorry" I cried. "Then you should've gone on that stupid date" he spat as he walked away. I should've known then. It was only after I begged and pleaded that Lando agreed to meet my friends. He never let me forget how he did me a favour by agreeing to meet my friends. "baby, you know how much I love you right" he asked. "yeah" I replied as he intertwined his fingers with mine. "I can't share you with others. I get so jealous. You're mine and only mine. And that's why I can't have you meet my friends" he said as he started sucking on my neck. That's why I didn't bring up the fact that I hadn't met his friends since we'd known each other for a year and dating for half of it. We barely even went out on dates; we'd always have in home dates since he was a celebrity and didn't like the paps. He would always say that he enjoyed the normalcy and the feeling of being a regular guy with me. "Baby, do you really wanna go out, where we would be spotted and then people say stuff about us. Don't you like being home, wear whatever you want. I can touch you however I want. Come on, why do you wanna ruin something so perfect" he hummed against my lips as his fingers pushed my underwear aside. I was so naive and thought that he was such a romantic guy.
It a little before our 1 year anniversary when I started asking him to take me along to the races since I wanted to be there to support him in person. "Lan, I really wanna be there for your races. I wanna see my boyfriend being cool at what he does." I whined. "You already do see me on the teli, it's practically the same" he said. "Please Lan" I begged. "Baby, I love you I truly do and I wanna show you off to the world but you know how the fans can get, they ruined my last relationship and I can't lose you. I love you too much" he said making me blush. I believed him like the idiot that I was. I believed every lie that left his pretty lips even when he would say that all those pictures of him on twitter with girls were edited and that he would never do that to me. I believed him.
I don't know how much I begged to be at a race and when I got to go to the first race of my life with him as his girlfriend and of the season; I was ecstatic. I made sure to be dressed well so as to not embarrass Lando and made sure to be a little controlled in my movements even though I was super excited to be there since I loved Formula One. All the other drivers were pretty shocked to meet me and even more so when they found out we'd been dating. They were all very kind and so were their girlfriends. I thought we'd be the best of friends and I'd have someone to hang out with while my boyfriend raced. Oh how stupid I was, they never even told me that Lando cheated on me or that their boyfriends knew and they never told me. I had an inkling that Lando was cheating on me; I saw it with my own eyes on the night before my birthday; the day of the Miami GP and he was celebrating with everyone and I saw him kissing a girl. No one saw me because I left immediately and cried myself to sleep. I hated myself for never confronting Lando; I brushed it off thinking that if I tried harder Lando would be back to himself, the Lando I know. But the Lando I knew was a facade and never existed. Lando had only been playing with my heart, it seems.
Did I tell you? He forgot our anniversary and said he would make it up to me. Which I do not believe he has. "Fuck baby, I'm sorry" he whispered as he wiped away my tears. "You know how busy I've been with the season starting and stuff. You'll forgive me right? I'll make it up to you, promise." he said while I nodded along to him. My friends hated his guts, but I was the one covering for him. When they asked why we weren't public; I said I wanted to be private. When they asked about Lando's multiple infidelities I would lie to their face and say that everything was a lie and a ploy to ruin his reputation; that's what I knew then and believed. I would see them face palm themselves mentally, now that I thought about it.
I guess being embarrassed by the man you love, multiple times, publicly can fuck you up. Because right now, I couldn't even cry anymore. I couldn't believe the other girls wouldn't even reply to my texts on the group chat; they added me to. This was humiliating. I was done with that asshole and I wasn't about to let him walk all over me anymore.
I wiped away the tears that were streaming down my face. I got dressed and decided to show up at the same bar he was at. When I entered, I saw him, dancing and drinking with others. I saw the other drivers with their girlfriends; I couldn't help but laugh bitterly. I walked up to the bar and sat down and started ordering the most expensive drinks they had. "Bad day?" The bartend asked. "Horrible, my boyfriend's been cheating on me" I chuckled. "I'm sorry." he looked apologetic. "You have nothing to apologise for. Just add the tab of every drink I put down my throat to that guy in the white shirt" I said directing his eyes to Lando. "Lando Norris?" he asked. "Yeah" I said and started to drink. I was sure Lando saw, I could feel it. I felt multiple eyes. I felt my phone buzz multiple time; I wasn't sure if it was some one who cared about me or those assholes since I didn't want to check my phone.
After a good hour of just drowning my feelings in alcohol, I stumbled my way out of the bar. I had made the decision to move out of that hotel room to another hotel and stay there before I flew back to get all my stuff. Lando would be too hammered to realise I was gone. I woke up the next morning with a major hangover but I knew what I wanted. I flew back to our his home in Monaco and took all my stuff; thankfully not a lot and left with a note on the table saying 'We are done'. I left any and everything he gave me, which wasn't a lot when you think about how I was dating a millionaire. I blocked Lando's number while I waited for my flight back home, can't believe I gave so much up for this man boy. I will be putting myself first finally.
Tumblr media
{Lando's POV}
I saw her, but I wasn't sure if it was really Y/N so I texted her but no reply. Apparently, she was at the bar we were at but she didn't approach me or us. Everyone saw her, I thought she didn't see us but I found out she knew I was there since she billed everything she had to me; which was a lot of alcohol, almost enough to cover half the amount I spent on the group. I knew I was fucked. I had no idea how I was gonna explain myself to her. I tried texting her but no reply. I think she blocked me and when I saw twitter I saw Y/N had posted a story but I couldn't see it either; guess she blocked me on there too.
Tumblr media
I flew back as soon as I was able to, to find the house empty and a note on the table saying we're done. I guess I deserved that after the shit I pulled; well at least it's not as messy as I expected it to be.

Can you do a really jealous kenan Plss
.
Tumblr media
Kenan Yildiz x reader
Kenan wouldn't say he was the jealous type. He had nothing to worry about. He knows you love him and wouldn't do anything to hurt him, it is the same for him. But seeing you talking to that man, laughing at his jokes, while he is leaving little touches, that did something to him. He knows that you are oblivious to the fact that other men flirt with you and that it isn't out of kindness most of the times.
You two were at a club after Turkey won one of their matches and they went to celebrate. Kenan of course brought you with him. That is how he found himself grabbing his glass stern in his hand while sending dagger looks over to where you were standing.
He was pulled out of his thoughts by a hand on his shoulder. He turned around to see who it was. "Are you okay?" Arda asks, a small smile on his face.
"Yeah, why wouldn't I be?" Kenan answered and took a sip of his drink.
Arda let out a laugh, "You just look like you want to kill someone with that look on your face." He was right. If looks could kill, he would already be dead.
"That dickass doesn't know how to back off," he pointed with his glass and Arda followed with his gaze. The man was still laughing and chatting with you, completely unaware of the tension he was causing.
"Maybe you should-,"
Before Arda could finish his sentence, Kenan had trown back the last of his drink and put his glass down and was walking over to you. Without hesitation, he wrapped his arms around your shoulders and pulled you close, his eyes locked onto the man's smirking face.
"Hi, baby." you say as you look up to who it was. You smile as you grab his other arm to hold.
The man stared at both of you, a scowl on his face. "Who are you? Can't you see we were talking?" His tone was dripping with annoyance
You weren't able to say anything as Kenan was fast to reply, "What rude of me to not introduce myself," he said with sarcasm as he held out one hand for him to grab. "I am Kenan Yildiz. Her boyfriend." He stared at him and gave a firm hand, which made the man wince.
Kenan puts his hand on your torso, pulling you closer to him. The man rolled his eyes,"You could have mentioned you had a boyfriend. I wouldn't have to waste my time on you." at that Kenan wanted to hit him, but you pulled him back as the man walked away.
"What was that?" you asked him as you grabbed his hand to hold.
He smiled at you, trying to reassure himself as much as himself. "Nothing," he said. "I just wanted to talk to you." You playfully rolled your eyes at him while he planted a gentle kiss on your head. Together, you walked back to the rest of the group, Kenan's hand still firmly on your torso, trying to make sure everyone knew that you were taken and off-limits.

sypnosis: headcanons of alice in borderland characters confessing to you.
author's note: did i disappear after just one aouad imagine then appear again with an alice in borderland obsession? yes i did. 😁😁😁😁 !not proofread!
――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――
ryohei arisu
RYOHEI ARISU WOULD BE HEAD OVER HEELS FOR YOU. ONLY YOU.
he's definitely that kind of person to hide his feelings because he's scared of rejection
so that means he's the type to not make the first move at all CONSIDERING HE'S A SHY BB!!!!!!!
BUT BUT BUT HE'LL PROBABLY GROW FED UP OF YOU NOT GETTING THE HINT OF HIS UNDYING LOVE FOR YOU
SO IT WOULD LEAD TO HIM FINALLY CONFESSING AAAAAAAAAAA
arisu would probably be anxious the whole time 😭😭😭😭 like shaking, sweaty palms, stuttering, uncontrollable laughter, etc
HE WOULD PROBABLY CONFESS AT A PICNIC OR SOMETHING SIMILAR <333
he would try his best to cook all of your favorite foods even though he sucks at cooking💪💪
he would buy a bouquet of your favorite flowers!!!!!!!!
OH AND HE WOULD ALSO WRITE A LETTER WHERE HE PUTS 100 FUCKING REASONS WHY HE LOVES YOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU
he's the type to prepare cue cards because he know he would fumble while he confesses
LIKE HE PROBABLY PREPARED A WHOLE ASS SPEECH BUT THERE WOULD BE A MOMENT WHEN HE JUST STARES AT YOU AND REALIZE HOW MUCH HE LOVES YOU WHICH KIND OF LEADS HIM TO JUST SAYING A SIMPLE "i love you"
yuzuha usagi
YUZUHA USAGI WOULD ONLY HAVE YOU AS HER WEAKNESS.
she's someone who has always been fearless, bold, and etc🙀🙀🙀 SO WHEN SHE STARTS TO HAVE FEELINGS FOR YOU, OFC SHE FEELS CONFLICTED OR CONFUSED
probably because she's strong and you making her flustered meant her downfall😁😁
she wasn't complaining though
USAGI WOULDN'T TAKE LONG TO CONTEMPLATE HER FEELINGS FOR YOU THO
if she liked you, then she liked you :)))
AND SHE WOULDN'T BE SCARED OF CONFESSING AT ALL BUT SHE WOULD STILL HAVE HER DOUBTS
doubts that chased her every time she went for a run or climbed a mountain‼️‼️‼️
SHE WOULD PROBABLY BRING YOU TO HER FAVORITE MOUNTAIN BEFORE THE SUN COMES UP
AND SHE WOULD INVITE YOU TO SIT ON THE GROUND AS THE SUN CRACKS LIKE AN EGG YOLK IN THE SKY
she won't even realize that you have already lied your head against her shoulder
AND THAT'S WHAT TRIGGERS HER TO SAY SHE HAS FEELINGS FOR YOU
shuntaro chishiya
chishiya is chishiya. self explanatory. <3
HE WOULD BE IN DENIAL FOR THE LONGEST TIMEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE.
he will not want to accept the fact that he fell for someone since he has the master manipulator factors and all💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯
but you were an exception ;)))
he would practically go from being a logical person to a carefree one for you LIKE HE DOESN'T CARE ABOUT THINGS WHEN HE'S WITH YOU BECAUSE YOU MAKE HIM FORGET THINGS WORTH WORRYING (and as much as he hates to admit you make him happy)
he would act cold, tease you 25/8 just to cover up the fact he has feelings for you
HE WOULD PROBABLY CONFESS BY HIDING ENVELOPES THAT HELD RIDDLES OR CLUES FOR YOU TO FIND
AND THOSE ENVELOPES WOULD LEAD YOU TO WHERE YOU FIRST MET
he knew you were clever enough to solve them :)
he would stand there waiting while he was wearing a suit that made him itch (BUT HE WOULD REMEMBER THE TIME YOU SAID MEN IN SUITS WERE ATTRACTIVE)
he would also have shampooed and conditioned hair for effort🙏🙏🙏🔥🔥🔥
AND A SIMPLE "i may or may not have feelings for you" WOULD HAVE SUFFICED AS HIS CONFESSION
hikari kuina
YOU WOULD BE HIKARI KUINA'S SOFT SPOT.
she would be too scared to be rejected by you because she didn't want to ruin your friendship
but she would still be confident on confessing #kuinathingzzzzzz
PROBABLY BECAUSE SHE WANTED TO PROVE SHE WAS BRAVE-
SHE WOULD CONFESS BY CHALLENGING YOU
LIKE SHE WOULD INVITE YOU TO FIGHT HER FOR 5 ROUNDS BECAUSE SHE TOLD YOU SHE HAD A SECRET THAT YOU COULD ONLY FOUND OUT IF U WON AGAINST HER.
spoiler: she loses to you on purpose because she knows how much you hate losing😍😍😍😍
SHE LOVED WINNING BUT SHE WOULD DO ANYTHING FOR YOU TO HAVE A SMILE ON YOUR FACE
her being the reason for a smile on your face made her weak🙏🙏🙏🙏
she would also give u a prize for winning <333
EITHER A RING, A NECKLACE, OR A BRACELET
AND SHE WAS THE ONE TO MAKE THEM BY HAND WITH BEADS
although it frustrsted her, she knew it would make you smile
"i love you . . . like so much."
suguru niragi
admit it. suguru nigari will not catch feelings for anyone at all.
unless it's you ofc😍😍😍😍🙏🙏🙏🙏
BUT HE HATED THE FEELING
HE HATED HOW MUCH HE GREW FOND OF YOU
HE HATED HOW YOU MADE HIM BLUSH, FEEL BUTTERFLIES FLUTTERING IN HIS STOMACH, GROW A SMIRK INTO A SMILE, AND MORE.
he would also be confused about his feelings since he's niragi😆😆😆😆
LET'S BE HONEST BECAUSE THIS MAN IS STUBBORN ASF AND WILL NOT CONFESS AT ALL.
he would probably drop big ass hints to wait for you to confess
BUT YOU WOULDN'T GET ANYTHING WHICH CAUSES HIM TO BE ANNOYED
AND SOON ENOUGH
"fuck it, i like you, dumbass."

you mentioned that it was beaten into your grandparents' generation to not speak catalan, but to speak spanish. did people in catalonia often not speak spanish before franco? what was the political situation of the language like before?
also, do catalan people prefer when spanish is called castellano? i know in romance linguistics it's often called that because spain has other languages, but i think catalan people often don't consider themselves spanish if i've understood it correctly
Yes, many people did not speak Spanish before Franco. For example, my grandma was born and raised in Barcelona right before the war (she was born in 1932) and she did not know any Spanish when she was a kid. She told me that one of the things she remembers the most of her childhood is how terrified she was that someone would find that out. She used to go with other kids of the street to sew with a elderly woman while their parents were at work (babysitting in working class neighbourhoods basically) and after Franco won the war this woman (who didn't speak Spanish either) told them in a made-up Spanish (adding an -o at the end of Catalan words and making them "sound Spanish" mixed with the very little Spanish she knew) that now it was very important that they all spoke Spanish when someone could hear because otherwise they could go to jail. So my grandma spent about a year when she did not say a single word on the street or outside of her family and close family friends. When she went to the market, she only pointed at things and nodded yes or no with her head or said the numbers by raising her fingers. She was very scared that she would be jailed with murderers and rapists. Even though I don't think children would be jailed for this (but it's not strange she believed it, because she had relatives who were in jail and were tortured, and the first years of dictatorship there was so much torture, executions and depravity that you ended up believing anything could happen), even if children wouldn't be jailed, they could still have gotten punished. She was still a kid, so at that age you learn quickly, so she could learn Spanish soon enough (or at least enough Spanish to pass well, because to be fair I've heard her speak Spanish now and every so often she still makes noticeable mistakes, even after decades of being married to my grandpa who is Spanish and speaking Spanish at home).
My parents (born in the 1960s), too, have told me that some of their classmates made mistakes and used Catalan words instead of the correct Spanish sentence. At that point, pretty much everyone in urban areas like ours already spoke Spanish well enough, but most people didn't use it often outside of school (unless they were Spanish immigrants or their children), so they made mistakes. And then the teacher beat them. It was the law that the punishment for speaking Catalan (and for many other things) in schools was corporal punishment. My mum was never beaten and was always at the top of the class and well-behaved, but even to this day she is still quite traumatized for what she saw. The only time I have seen her cry very desperately almost like an anxiety attack was when my grandma was talking about their teacher, because she remembers how he used to throw disobeying children to the floor and kick them, even when the kids were crying he'd still continue kicking them.
My parents have still met quite a few elderly people who didn't speak Spanish, only Catalan or Aranese (there was an Aranese man who used to come to my town for commerce, but it's no problem because Aranese and Catalan are mutually understandable, so they could have conversations where he spoke Aranese and the others spoke Catalan and it was fine, they just thought it was kind of funny). But I (and I dare to say almost everyone from my generation, except people who know someone with a strong mental disability and maybe some people from very rural areas) have not met anyone who speaks only Catalan and doesn't speak Spanish (excluding people from the Catalan-speaking areas that aren't under Spanish control, of course; because I have some friends from Northern Catalonia and there the bilingualism is Catalan+French, or even only French at this point for many young people).
You asked what the political situation of the Catalan language was before the fascists' victory in the Civil War. The situation was of course much better than during Francoism, for example we had the right to use Catalan in public, in schools (public schools taught in Catalan and even taught how to write Catalan), there were films dubbed to Catalan, Catalan radio, Catalan books, etc. and the huge amount of people in Catalonia spoke only Catalan in their everyday lives. However, there was still a strong political and social discrimination according to which Catalan was associated with the working classes and Spanish was seen as more classy (this was the case since the 1600s and intensified much more after 1714), but thanks to the Renaixença movement* Catalan had regained prestige to be used in literature and formal settings, even of the upper class, though conservative upper class (specially monarchists and fascists) still preferred Spanish. But we had done a lot of great steps in the right direction, and things were going very well. Better than ever before since Spain's invasion in 1714.
*the Renaixença was an artistic —and most important literary— movement of the 1800s that's basically our version of Romanticism but with a strong component of political and social fight for the rights of Catalan language and people.
I do not have any preference on whether Spanish should be called Spanish (español) or Castillian (castellano). In Spain, it's almost always called Castillian, so when I speak in Spanish I say castellano just because that's what I'm used to. But it's the same. It feels more correct to say Castillian because it's the language of Castilla, like you say "English" because it's the language of England (instead of saying "British"). But Spain is just Castilla and the lands it invaded, so when anyone says Spanish (language, culture, government, whatever) it means the Castillian one, and Spain has worked hard to make it clear that it does not include any of the occupied nations in its concept of country. So I always understand Spanish as referring exclusively to Castillian things (understanding Castilla to include all the Kingdom of Castilla, not only the modern-day administrative regions of Castilla. So, for example, including Andalucía and Extremadura).
I do not consider myself Spanish and I find it offensive when people try to say "Catalan is also Spanish because it's a language from Spain", it feels like saying that Catalan is nothing of itself, only belonging to Spain. It's forgetting that part of Catalonia has never been Spain (Northern Catalonia) and that Catalan is also the language of Andorra (an independent nation) and l'Alguer (a city in Sardinia inhabited by the descendants of Medieval Catalan settlers who moved there centuries before Catalonia was occupied by Spain). Their language is not "a Spanish language" and never has been, and either way I refuse to be reduced to that. Our language goes back centuries (with changes over time, of course, but it hasn't changed as much as English, we can read Late Medieval Catalan just fine), it has developed as independently as any other Romance language, with its own traditions and literature (the 1st vernacular literature in Romance languages btw!), so we are of ourselves, not "of Spain". I don't want our existence to be reduced to a possession of Spain. We should be described in our own terms.
So yeah, in Spanish saying both castellano and español are fine (some Spanish-speaking countries use one more or the other more), and in English I think it's better to just say Spanish, because that's the word that's used in English. But I don't really mind tbh.
I hope that answers your questions :)

hey babes have you seen that video of a fan asking Niall out recently and like he says “oh she(Amelia) will be upset” ? Could you maybe write cut blurb based on that for Harry and y/n??
words: 1.2k
warnings: fluff, smut.
***
"Oi, Harry! You single, mate? My friend fancies you!" a voice called out from the crowd during the concert.
Harry laughed and brought the microphone up to his lips. "Sorry, sorry! I'm very much taken, lads. My girlfriend wouldn't be too pleased if I went accepting offers from admirers!"
Y/N felt a rush of giddy affection watching from the wings. Even after all these years of dating, of building a life together, hearing Harry refer to her as his girlfriend still made her heart flutter.
After the show, Harry swept her up into a tight embrace, breathing her in. "You know I'm crazy about you, right love?" he murmured against her hair.
"I know," Y/N replied, feeling warm and content in the circle of his arms. "I'm pretty crazy about you too, just in case that wasn't clear."
He pulled back with a teasing grin. "Oh, I don't know. You'll have to remind me more often. I'm getting forgetful in my old age."
She swatted him playfully. "You're ridiculous. Now c'mon, I want to get takeaway from that Thai place you like before heading home."
As they walked out to the car hand-in-hand, Harry's bodyguard Mick greeted them with a nod. "Nice show tonight, H. You too, Y/N."
"Thanks Mick," Harry said easily. He always insisted that Y/N be treated as an equal part of the team by his staff and security. From the moment they got together, he made it clear she wasn't just another fling or hanger-on.
In the calm of their flat later, settled on the couch with cartons of fragrant Thai curry, Y/N felt a swell of love for this man. This generous, humble, wildly talented man who could have anyone he wanted but chose her. Chose to keep choosing her, day after day.
Harry must have sensed her watching him, because he looked up and caught her eye with a quizzical smile. "What're you thinking about over there?"
She shook her head a little. "Just…feeling really lucky, I guess. That of all the girls who fancy you, you picked me."
His eyes softened and he set his food down, reaching over to take her hand. "Y/N, you've got it backwards, love. I'm the lucky one. You're the most amazing person I know."
A lump rose in her throat at his earnest tone. "You can't just…say stuff like that and expect me to keep it together," she protested shakily.
Harry's thumb stroked over her knuckles. "It's true though. You make me want to be better, do more with the chances I've been given. I'm in awe of you every day."
Unable to find the words, Y/N leaned in and kissed him deeply, trying to convey the depths of her feelings. Harry kissed her back with equal fervor, until a wet noodle hit the side of his face with a comical splat sound.
They broke apart, stunned for a beat, until Y/N started giggling helplessly. Soon they were both consumed by laughter, food containers forgotten as they held each other. These were the moments Y/N cherished most - the simple intimacy, the shared joy of being thoroughly themselves with each other.
She couldn't imagine her life without Harry's bright spirit, without his love and support buoying her up. They had been through so much together already - the difficult early days of dating an international superstar, the intense scrutiny and pressure from all sides, the constant travelling and time apart.
Through it all, they had remained committed to choosing each other, fighting for their relationship no matter what curveballs life threw their way.
As their laughter faded off into contented silence, Harry pulled Y/N closer until she was tucked against his side. She let out a happy sigh, feeling utterly at peace.
"You know," Harry murmured after a while. "All those fans shouting for me, acting like I'm some big prize to be won…they don't realize I'm the one who hit the jackpot, getting to be with my best friend."
Not trusting her voice, Y/N simply squeezed him tighter. She knew there would always be people trying to get between them, throwing doubts and obstacles in their path. But she also knew with so much certainty - as long as they had this, had each other, nothing else mattered.
Over the next few months, tour life resumed in earnest. Frantic dashes through airports, screaming crowds, hotel room nights blurring together, every waking moment scheduled to the max. Y/N was grateful she could be by Harry's side through the whirlwind, her familiar presence keeping him grounded and sane.
One night after a show in Los Angeles, they were lounging on the hotel room sofa, Harry's head pillowed in Y/N's lap as she carded her fingers gently through his freshly-shampooed hair that always smelt so fucking good.
"You were amazing tonight, babe," Y/N murmured. "That whole stadium was eating out of the palm of your hand."
Harry hummed contentedly at her praise, his eyes slipping closed. "Felt good up there. Like all the pieces just clicked into place once I saw your face in the crowd."
Y/N's heart squeezed at his words. "You mean that?"
"Of course." He blinked up at her solemnly. "Having you there, it's…it's like coming home, no matter where we are in the world."
Tears pricked at the corners of Y/N's eyes as she leaned down to kiss him tenderly. She loved this man so deeply it terrified her sometimes.
As the kiss deepened, Harry's hands came up to cradle her face, holding her to him almost desperately. Soon they were a tangle of roaming hands and shared breaths, shedding layers of clothing with increasing urgency until they lay skin-to-skin, hot and bothered.
Harry trailed hot, openmouthed kisses down the column of Y/N's throat as she arched beneath him with a breathy moan. "Need you," he rasped against the hollow of her neck. "Need to be with you, feel you…"
"Yes, yes Harry please," she panted, raking her nails down his back.
He shuddered at her touch and surged up to capture her lips again in a searing kiss. Then, with practiced tenderness, he sank into her welcoming heat and they both let out ragged gasps at the intensity of that joined feeling.
Moving together in a rhythm, Harry and Y/N lost themselves in each other, with moans and whimpers exchanged between the two as they chased their highs. This was their oasis, their refuge from the craziness of the world outside - just the two of them, tangled up in each other utterly.
Aftershocks still trembling through them both, Harry gathered Y/N close and pressed his lips to her damp hairline.
"I love you," he murmured thickly. "I love you so bloody much, Y/N."
She tilted her head back to gaze at him with sparkling eyes. "I know. And I love you, Harry. Always."
Smiling softly, he brushed the pad of his thumb over her swollen bottom lip. "Forever my girl?"
"Forever," she promised.

Inosuke x f!reader
The timeline is around season 1, anyways I hope you guys enjoy! (dude I have like such bad writer's block, so if you want to request something that's demon slayer or mha please do lmao)
You sat down on the ground, including tanjiro, zenitsu, and inosuke. The three of you finally defeated those annoying demons. You then sighed, "I'm so glad were done with that, I need a break.."
"I know! those damn demons just wouldn't give up" zenitsu said out of breath, "I dont think they would've given up anyways, considering they are demons..." you said, you then looked to the side. You saw tanjiro and zenitsu, but not inosuke.."Hey, does anyone know where inosuke went?"
tanjiro then got up, "maybe he went into the woods? but I just saw him sitting next to zenitsu.."
"I'm glad that stupid boar is gone, he's always making so much trouble!"
"Don't say that zenitsu! Inosuke is our friend," "Yea, YOUR friend not mine!"
As the two continued to bicker, you started to look around. Then you saw someone running towards you, were you hallucinating? I mean while you were fighting that demon you did hit your head. Before you could finish thinking, inosuke was already on top of you cackling.
"Insouke get off of her!"
"MWAHAHA! THE KING OF THE MOUTAINS HAS WON VICTORY!"
"Insouke! get off!!" you tried to get him off, but obviously he didn't. Tanjiro & zenitsu continued trying to pull him off, until he finally budged.
You then stood up, "Too much has happened today for my liking..." "I'm so sorry (Y/N)! we should find somewhere to stay tonight, then we can start doing missions first thing in the morning!"
While looking for somewhere to stay, Inosuke wouldn't stop talking about how strong he is, "SHUT UP YOU BOAR!" "YOU SHUT UP MONITSU!" "THATS NOT MY NAME!!"
You then put both of your hands on their mouths, "please, just both of you be quiet. If your any louder some demons going to try to eat us."
"whatever..." Zenitsu crossed his arms, inosuke then grabbed your hand. "What are you doing?" you asked confused.
"Guys look! we can stay here for the night! it seems to be pretty big so maybe they'll let us stay"
Finally, all of you could sleep, "I'm so ready to sleep, today was definitely too much for me." "I agree, it's all because of inosuke.."
"please don't start again.." Tanjiro said, putting his face to his hand. Inosuke stuck his tounge out to zenitsu, causing him to throw a pillow at him. "YOU TRYNA FIGHT MONITSU?"
You got up from the floor, then grabbed the pillow and put it over inosuke's face. He tried to get it off, but you didn't budge. "How about we go to our room Inosuke? anyways..I'll see you two in the morning!" You then dragged Inosuke out, unfortunately he was still squirming all the way to the room. "I'm glad someone can finally handle that boar, he's too hyper." Zenitsu said putting the blanket over his head.
"Go to sleep Inosuke! we have to start missons early!" 'The great king of the mountains never sleeps!" You then sighed and sat behind him; you pulled his head to your lap. "The hell you doin?!" "Just be quiet, other people are trying to sleep you know" you started combing his hair with your fingers, "just try to get some rest for tonight, okay? then tomorrow you can act as hyper as you want" you looked down, smiling softly. Inosuke then started closing his eyes, what was this feeling?
By the time you woke up, Inosuke was still asleep in your lap. You had woken up from zenitsu shaking you to wake you up. "Goodmorning you two..." You said, still half asleep. "(Y/N), what's this all about?" Zenitsu asked confused, "I would like to know also" Tanjiro said with an Awkard smile. You then looked down to see inosuke! you had completely forgot about him. "Uh well..." "On second thought, you don't have to explain! we'll wait outside for you two!" "Hey! speak for yourself! I want to know what's happening!" Tanjiro then walked out while dragging zenitsu out the room.
You then tapped Inosuke lightly, "Inosuke..It's time to get up" he then turned his head while mumbling something. You then moved a little to try to get up, but he held you down, "sleep.." you giggled a little from this, "I know... I want to sleep too but we have to get ready."
You then got up and put on your haori, you made sure the room was tidy enough and woke up him up, "Took you two long enough!" "Sorry, I just had to make sure everything in the room was tidy before we left."
From then on, Inosuke was much calmer towards you. He didn't jump around as much, he wasn't yelling in your ear every second, he just was relaxed when he was with you. Tanjiro and Zenitsu quickly began to notice but didn't mention it.
One night, you and inosuke had finished a mission that the two of you were tasked with. The two of you sat down, sharing tempura that you had gotten. "The moon looks pretty tonight" you said with a smile, Inosuke really liked that. Your face was one of the things he really liked about you, he thought you were the prettiest girl he's ever seen.
"(Y/N)" "Yes?"
"I'm not sure what it is whenever I see you, but I always feel sick" Inosuke said with a face full of food. "Sick? really?" did the boy you liked really just say that? he nodded his head, You then thought about it for a minute, you knew Inosuke wasn't too good with his words, especially since he was raised in the mountains. "Can you tell me more?"
"Well, I feel my heartbeat fast, and my stomach starts feeling weird every time I'm with you!" You then dropped your food on the ground, wait..does he like you back? "Hey! you just dropped some good food!"
You started laughing, "the hell you laughin at (Y/N)?!"
You wiped your eyes from laughing so hard, and then got closer to inosuke. You could tell he was a bit flustered when you got closer, you put your hand to his chest, "ah, so you weren't lying. Your heart is beating really fast." You smiled at him, Inosuke looked lost for words. "I like you too Inosuke, a lot." You put your hand to his face and gave him a small kiss. "What the hell was that? a new fighting style or something?!" you started laughing again. "Yea, let's go with that."
oh my gosh I'm finally finished lmao, I hope you guys like this one!

press delete pt.2 (cl16)
summary: even though he’s dating a new girl, charles still keeps the pictures of you on his phone.
warnings: breakup, general angst
hope you all enjoy this highly requested part 2! i actually liked writing this one more than the original lol
part 1
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Charles had spent all day with the supermodel he had been seeing ever since your breakup. She was good company and had known Charles when he was a kid. He got along fine with her, but they were just friends. Someone he could talk to, even if they would never dance in the rain together or stay up late at night drunk on his balcony.
Just someone to fill the void.
After he had dropped her off back at her place, Charles had driven home himself. He had taken a shower before collapsing on his couch. As soon as he opened his phone, he saw that pictures of them together were already on social media. He wondered whether you had seen. Whether you had cared.
He opened his camera roll, looking back at all the pictures he couldn't bear to delete.
--
It was the first time he had invited you to come watch him race, his personal guest in the Ferrari hospitality. You had shown up wearing a T-shirt with his name and number on it, a red Ferrari cap on your head. He remembered how just seeing you in his team gear had made his heart flutter.
You had run over to him in the paddock, pulling him into an embrace. The cameras were flashing, but he knew you didn't care. Charles hugged you back, whispering in your ear how glad he had been to see you. He vowed then and there that he never wanted to let you go.
He gave you a tour of the paddock, showing you the places he knew the cameras wouldn't follow and the best places to grab food before the race. He had spent so much time in various tracks like this that he knew it like the back of his hand. He only hoped you would one day feel the same, having come to many more races of his.
When it was time to head on track, he had given you one last embrace. And before he went, he asked if he could take a picture with you. Him in his race suit, you in Ferrari gear. You happily obliged and he took his favorite picture of the day, just the two of you in his garage.
He would look back at that picture whenever you couldn't make it to a race, remembering that you were cheering him on from home. Even though he hadn't won that day, getting to spend it with you had been its own sort of victory.
As he looked at the photo now, all he felt was regret. Regret that maybe you didn't understand how much you had meant to him and how much better he felt with you around.
He couldn't make himself delete the picture and so he scrolled on.
--
A few minutes later, he found another picture that brought back memories. He chuckled to himself, remembering that day.
It had been Christmas time. You both had spent Christmas Eve with Charles family, as they celebrated the holiday. On the actual holiday, you had asked him to spend a cozy day in instead of celebrating in an extravagant way. He had agreed, wanting nothing more than to spend the day by your side.
But he had to still get you a present, no matter how many times you had insisted the only gift you wanted was to spend time with him, away from everything. He had searched endlessly for the perfect present for you, finally settling on something he knew you would appreciate. It was tickets to see a band you both listened to in concert. One of the first things you bonded over as a couple was your love for their music. It was perfect and he was so excited to see the look on your face when you opened the tickets.
Christmas had rolled around and as promised, he spent the morning cuddling with you in bed. Around lunch time, he had got up to make the two of you a brunch. His cooking skills were lackluster to say the least, so you had joined him the kitchen a few minutes later. He could still remember how you looked in the soft morning light and how you sounded when you laughed at how poorly he had chopped the ingredients of your favorite dish.
About halfway through the meal, he had handed you the envelope with the tickets. He had tried to hide how excited he was, but he knew you could read his emotions like a book. You opened the simple card he had bought and your eyes had widened when you saw the tickets.
But instead of getting all excited as he imagined, you burst into laughter. He felt his face getting red and he started to panic. Had he messed up? What was so funny?
"Mon amour," you had said, finally pausing in your laughter. "Go look under the Christmas tree."
Not knowing what else to do, he had stood up from the table and walked over to the tree. There was a small box underneath. He grabbed it and walked back over to you with a look of confusion. You nodded and he opened it.
Inside were two tickets to the same concert.
"You bought the same thing?" he had asked incredulously.
"Yes. I thought you would love it."
"Well I love it so much that I bought you the same thing," he laughed, now understanding what was so funny.
He had taken a picture of the two of you together each holding the tickets the other had bought. Your smiling faces stared back at him now from his phone. You had known each other so well. How had a relationship so deep crumbled?
He couldn't bear to let go of the memory. He scrolled to the next photo, stopping himself from pressing delete.
--
He had finally reached the last photo from your relationship. It was you, standing on his boat. One of his oversize shirts was on your shoulders. He always thought they looked better on you. With the image, the circumstances under which he took them came back to him. That he would delete it when you two got back together.
He thought back to that fateful day.
You had gone out together on his yacht. He had hoped it would be a lighthearted and relaxing break from the stress that had been plaguing your relationship. He saw you standing close to the edge of the boat and he had remembered a time where you had pushed him into the water, jumping in after him yourself. He walked over with the intention of recreating the fun moment.
But the second he pushed you, he knew he had misjudged the circumstances. You had shouted at him.
"Mon amour, it was just a joke Don't take it all so serious. We are here to have a good time, no?" he said, trying to smooth over the situation and bring some brightness back into the day.
"Not if you are going to throw me in the ocean."
He had sighed, wishing you could just appreciate the day with him. You two had descended into an argument afterwards. He didn't remember what he had said, only that he had wanted to make you see that he wasn't always the villain. Sure, he had neglected you in the past in favor of his career. But he was here now, wasn't he, trying to make it all better?
The rest of the argument was a blur in his head. Up until the point you had uttered the words that finally broke him.
"I don't think this is going to work anymore."
He had tried so hard for you. But his best wasn't good enough and he could see that now. Somewhere along the line you both had lost your understanding of the other person. Your relationship had become built on memories of the past and differing ideas of the future.
He had blinked back tears behind his sunglasses. He didn't want you to know how bad you had hurt him. Charles knew he had his fair share of blame for how things had turned out. He didn't want to cry in front of you now. He could hold it in until he got home, as much for your sake as his own.
The words he said next were crystal clear in his mind.
"Okay. We can take a break. But let me get one last picture of you to remember you by. And when we get back together, I will delete it off my phone so we don't have to remember this day? Ok, ma cherie?"
Charles had taken the picture that stared back at him now. Even now, he could tell how unhappy you were in the picture. It was clearly a fake smile that you had given him.
But even though the picture and the memory of how it all fell apart had pained him, he couldn't bear to delete the picture off his phone. The hope and the promise that he could still end up with you were too much to throw away.
Instead, he clicked onto your name in his messages. He selected the picture of you on that boat. His finger hovered over the send button. He had a choice to make.
But surely if you had wanted to see him again, you would have said something. You were probably happy now without him. He didn't want to ruin your peace. So he clicked out of your messages and into hers.
He sent another text back to the model, asking if she wanted to see him again next weekend. If you had wanted him out of your life, he owed it to you to make that happen. Even if he couldn't make himself delete your memories from his phone.

Until I Found You - Chapter 2
Quinn Hughes x Reader
Word Count: 851
Chapter 1 >Chapter 2< Chapter 3 Chapter 4
Tumblr media
When you arrived at the lake house Quinn wasn't there yet, so they decided he was the one crashing on the couch since there were only three rooms and the rest of you were going to sleep in pairs, so it was Trevor and Jamie, Jack and Luke and you with Holtz
While they played football outside, you decided to take a shower to calm your nerves, knowing that I was going to be with them off work for months felt so different, plus Quinn is going to be here any minute, you've heard a lot about him and while Luke and Jack have said that he's so protective over them and he worries a lot they've said that he's quite grumpy, something Nico, Trevor and Cole have confirmed. So you wanted to make a good impression and hopefully your awkwardness was going to allow it just this one time...
"Fuck" you said after you knocked into someone making them spill their beer all over them. Fan-fucking-tastic, there goes your opportunity to get on the good side of the oldest Hughes. "I'm so incredibly sorry, really let me... I can wash your clothes, and grab another beer for you, I wasn't really looking..."
"It's okay, I was going to take a shower now anyways, is nice to meet you" and right after he said that he left and closed the door of the room you just left. To say you were panicking was an understandment the least thing you wanted to do was to make things awkward, he was probably going to complain about you to Jack and Luke, I mean you were the only girl and they were already going to hold some things back because of that...
you don't know how long you've been standing on the corridor when Holtzy grabbed your face "Belle you okay? did you see Huggy?"
"yes... yeah he's.. he said he was going to take a shower" I said pointing at the door while looking down at the wet floor, he followed my sight and I saw understandment flashing on his face "go help the boys downstairs before they set the house on fire I'll clean this... nope, I'll do it" he said before I could interrupt him
When I entered the kitchen the boys were emptying the fridge (Ellen so kindly stored beforehand) trying to find something to defrost. So I sent them to set the table while I prepared something, Jamie being his usual self (a sweetheart that is) came to help me, we've only met a couple of times and for a very short time but he was so easy to get along with. This was the first time he tagged along too, only cause him and Trevor missed each other with Jamie being on the Flyers now. Almost an hour later we took everything to the table where four giant whiny babies were waiting for the food.
We were starting to eat when I heard Quinn running downstairs "Too late, food's gone Huggy Bear" Jack said when he came into view, "This is y/n by the way be nice, I actually like her"
"Wow didn't know you were capable of liking other than yourself" Trevor told him but Jack answered "oh please as if you were any better, you can't even act as if you cared for others" and obviously Trevor's sassiness attacked "because I don't" Jamie, Holtzy and I just looked at each other and smiled.
"Since you won the cup you're less talkative, are you too much for us now Cap?" Trevor told the oldest Hughes while smirking, he knew what he was doing, Jack always tells me that Zegras' favorite pastime is getting on Quinn's nerves "I've always been too much for you Zegras but I'm glad you finally accept it".
They kept throwing snarky comments and while I was glad Quinn didn't mention anything about our encounter, I was still worried that he was upset, so while everyone was getting ready to go to bed, I went downstairs to find Quinn.
"Hey" I said softly "you should go upstairs and sleep there, I mean is your room after all. Holtzy is there but I'm sure Jack or Lu wouldn't mind switching" when he didn't answer I looked at him and he had a small frown while looking intensely at me.
You were caught off guard by the momentary awkwardness that seemed to radiate from him, not used to seeing a Hughes in any other way than the confident and playful boys.
"Thank you, but it's okay if you sleep there. And... I'm sorry, I... What happened earlier was my fault, so you don't have to blame yourself for it, it is nice to finally meet the girl which my brothers feel so close to" he gave me a small smile and headed upstairs where Luke was yelling for him.
With my heart beating slightly faster than usual (which was fast enough already) I slept that night besides a snuggling Holtz, feeling hopeful about having a good time with everyone and a non-uncomfortable interaction with Quinn.

Note: didn't love this chapter but now that Quinny finally met the reader I'll have more inspiration. Also there's going to be dual POV in the next chapters.
If you have suggestions or you see a mistake (english is not my main language) please let me know!

do you think you could write a luke x y/n friends to lovers based on too sweet by hozier? Maybe have it be a little angsty like someone tells him he’s not good enough and so he distances himself. I really love your writing and feel like you would write it beautifully.
Too Sweet Pt.1
Thank you so much for this request I loved this idea its so cutie im so sorry it took so long for me to make but hopefully Ive done it justice this one is a bit short but I kinda reallyyyyy wanted to put it into separate parts (which i swear wont take as long but it will be longer cus i gotta get that juicy angst in better!!!)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hot.
That's all I felt as I was training, That's all I ever feel when I train with Luke. Not because he’s insanely hot himself but he has to put his all into everything even if I ask for practice with sparing. I'm crouched down a bit less like a fighter's stance as Luke has already got me winded but I try to hold up my tough gaze as he stands in front of me mirroring my stance except he's not tired at all it looks like he has even lifted a finger but this is our third go and unsurprisingly he's won every time so far. “Y/N/N are you sure you don't wanna give up? I'm not sure I can watch your face get all sad when you lose again.” He’s smirking as he talks and for a second he puts his hand on his chest to fain sadness about me. In that split second, I take the opportunity to try to tackle him to the ground.
He lets out a surprised Oof before he hits the ground I try to grab his hands to pin them down “I'm not so sure Luke I think you be pulling your sore loser face” Of course I didn't learn from Luke as my talking got me too distracted as Luke flips us over and now he's pinning me down into the dirt. He simply smirks and does a little tilt of his head pretty much signaling id lost. He stood before holding out his hand for me to get up which I gladly took from him. “Luke, I asked for practice. I thought you were going to go a little easy… I'm gonna have to sleep early or I'm gonna be so sore.”  Discomfort on my face as I brush the dirt off my shorts and shirt “About that…” Luke says with a certain tone I've learned means ‘I'm gonna try really hard to convince you to do something you're really not gonna wanna do’ “Oh god what is it, Luke…?” A mischievous look spread across his face “Apollo kids are having a small lake party tonight and I was thinking I could take you” I let out a taut laugh before squinting my eyes playfully at him “Weren't you already out partying last night! Chris was telling me all about it!” I watched his face flush a bit as he stood there watching me talk before stammering his words “Wait- when did you see Chris today I wasn't with you??” I narrow my eyes at him a bit “This morning I went on a walk and I ran into him yknow you're not denying it soooo i'm right you did go out…?”
He gets up from leaning against a pillar to come put his arm around my shoulders and start walking out of the arena “Well yes.. But! I wasn't hanging out with my best friend so that's why I'm telling you that you gotta come out this time!”
“Luke you're always out so much lately don't you think YOU especially should rest, oh so great swordsman!” I clasp my hands to my chest whilst looking up through my lashes at him. He lets out something between a laugh and a scoff “You know that I do this all the time you're the one who always stays cooped inside her cabin almost all day usually!” Our steps absentmindedly got slower as we approached my cabin “I don't know Luke… I promised I was going to hang out with my siblings tomorrow and if I party with you I might forget or sleep in'' He opened his mouth to rebuttal me but I quickly cut him off “And andddd! You know I don't like to drink. I'm too nervous about being caught!”
We finally got to my cabin but I stood outside because I knew Luke wouldn't be satisfied unless I let him try to convince me one last time. “For one, You see your siblings every day you live with them. Plus I know some of your siblings are coming tonight anyway!” I go to open my mouth ready to shut him down already but before I had the chance Luke swiftly made sure to playfully cover my mouth with his hand before tsking at me and putting his finger to his lips shushing me “Ahem as I was saying YN, I'll be with you the whole time you can rely on me the whole time, just go this once for me and if you hate it I'll never force you to come again!”
He lowered his hand from his mouth to reveal my lips in an exaggerated frown. He let out a loud laugh before huffing out what sounded like ‘Oh c'mon now’ but it fell on deaf ears as his fingers went to my sides to get me to let out a laugh (well more than just one) I laughed so hard at his relentless tickles hunching myself onto him before we heard the laughs of my sibling behind and Luke turned back into a stoic statue practically I let my laughter die awkwardly as he separated from me. Rocking back and forth on my heels I look back at him “Well okay I guess I'll think about it… but this isn't a yes okay!!” He let out a small chuckle before slowly starting to walk backwards “I’ll see you later tonight” he flipped around completely to start walking away I let out a small laugh turning away to walk to my cabin door before something dawned on me, I flip around and yell back out to him “Wait Luke how will I know where to go!!” He turns back to me putting his hands behind his head with a sort of arrogant smirk on his face
“Don't worry about it, I am a messenger aren't I?”

Just imagine…Finnick and his sweet girls first time together, Finnick taking her virginity, wasn’t something that was created from a loving moment. It was created from the fear that Snow would take every single part of her, including something that many find important. It was a moment created from urgency, not pure passion. Of course passion and love was there…but…Finnick didn’t want her first time to be like his, no, he refused.
It’s one of the many thing he regrets…

finnick regrets so much of what he did and how he acted after reader won her games. because he went into mentor mode, into trying to help her survive being a victor, a lifetime performer. and he didn't want her virginity to be stripped away from her by someone who would sexualize it as another perverted idea of her "innocent" allure.
and it's not something that just naturally fell in place or felt right, he asked because he wanted it to not be something traumatic to look back on, to protect you her as much as he could. but he looks back and wonders if that worked because she must looks back on it and think of it as something she felt like she had to do or have that moment with someone who didn't care at all.
i feel like finnick is very introspective and will look back on things in retrospect because he doesn't want to repest what he did if it hurt his sweet girl in any way.
"I'm sorry I didn't give you the first time you deserved."
"what?"
"I'm really sorry, angel, you deserved so much better."
"Finn, it's okay, you don't have to worry about me or that, it was fine."
"I do have to worry about you, sweet girl. That's what we do, worry about each other. And exactly, it was fine and I'm sorry for it."
"you don't have to be sorry about it."
"I do, I got you in this mess and you couldn't just have something organic, it was urgent, not just how you felt."
"if you're feeling a little down today we can go do something to make you feel better. I don't want you to be upset, Finn, I'm fine."
"don't do that!"
"do what?"
"deflect. I wanna know how really felt, how you really feel and you're trying not to hurt my feelings. like did I make you feel loved?"
"you did it so I wouldn't have to go through it with someone who didn't care about me like you do, of course I felt loved enough. I love you."
"I love you, angel. and feeling loved enough is different, which is okay, I just wish you'd be honest about things like that. I'm not gonna be upset with you if it you say it upset you, I could never, I just want the truth. was I soft enough? was the way I brought it up to crass?"
he always regrets bringing it all up again when his sweet girl is obviously hiding back tears and trying to stay composed. "finnick, it's okay, I don't want to talk about it right now." and he knew his sweet, sweet girl would never want to talk about it because it probably did hurt in some way and she'd never want to make him feel guiltier then he already did.
I think when he had brought it up though it was very straightforward after snow had announced the elite had the ability to buy your time and body.
"angel, are you still a virgin?"
"yeah." you'd croak out trying to be okay.
"do you want me with you first, before they use it against you? we don't have to angel, but I want you to know they don't have to take that from you too." but in a sense they did when you had to rush everything.
of course he was sweet and loving, but there was no heavy make out session leading into it, or going out together beforehand. he'd kiss you, tell you how much he loved you, but there was just a sense of melancholy in the air. and you'd been so quiet for a chunk of the time.
yes it had been out of love, but it would eat Finnick alive forever because his sweet girl deserved better, so much better then the hand dealt.

I've got some more chronic Akashi brainrot for y'all...
I had re-watched parts of Last Game not too long and I remember the scene after Team Vorpal Swords won when Riko's dad bought a bunch of snacks and drinks for everyone to celebrate. While eating, Midorima asked Akashi (referring to the haphazard way snacks were spread across the table), "Are you sure you're okay with something so sloppy, Akashi?" And Akashi looked at him and said, "What are you talking about? We used to sit around and celebrate like this in middle school all the time."
It really stuck in my head for a reason I kinda mentioned the other day, when I was talking about Akashi's dynamic with Hayama. I won't explain that entire post, but I was mainly discussing how Hayama is touchy with Akashi but Akashi never minds, and the last sentence of my post regarding that was, "Akashi seems to be very unfazed whenever he's manhandled by his Rakuzan teammates which shows that he was never really that uptight about people touching him to begin with and people just assumed he was". This brings me to the main topic of this post: Akashi Seijuro and the assumptions the KNB cast has about his personality.
As I love to point out on this godforsaken app, Akashi has been done dirty by every adult in his life with the exception of his mother. So much of what went wrong in his 3rd year at Teiko was due to high expectations and the idea that Akashi was not allowed to be anything less than perfect at whatever he did, but at the root of all of this are assumptions.
False assumptions that he was able to handle such a heavy workload. False assumptions that he was ready to be captain in his second year. False assumptions that he was coping with stress well. False assumptions that he wasn't already cracking before he even enrolled in Teiko. He was let down so many times by so many people because people assumed he was okay when he wasn't and hadn't been for YEARS.
And I think it's a big reason as to how and why the rest of the Teiko gang unintentionally isolated Akashi back in middle school. They put Akashi on a pedestal and assumed that there was some sort of invisible barrier between him and the rest of the team. In the same way when, during Last Game, Midorima assumed Akashi would stick his nose up at... eating chips and drinking juice with the homies... everyone has this idea that Akashi is more haughty than he actually is? Akashi isn't haughty at all. In fact, the Replace Plus Chapters highlight the fact that he's the complete opposite. This boy saved a baby in one chapter, and as the mother of the baby profusely thanks him, he says "Anyone could have done that." As if he didn't showcase superhuman reaction time and reflexes by pulling a baby out of a runaway stroller coming down a hill at high speed right before the stroller was obliterated by an oncoming truck. 💀
These assumptions make even less sense when Akashi has already shown people how much he doesn't want to be put on a pedestal. Again, back to the scene in Last Game, Midorima assumed Akashi wouldn't be down for the "sloppy" afterparty, but Akashi had to remind Midorima that they'd already done things like that in middle school. Momoi has cute nicknames for every member of the Teiko gang except Akashi, who she refers to simply as "Akashi-kun". Maybe that was her assuming Akashi would never accept being called by a cute nickname. Never mind the fact that he already was being addressed as "Akashicchi" and "Aka-chin" by Kise and Murasakibara, respectively, and then later was being addressed as "Sei-chan" by Mibuchi. And you can't even argue that she didn't want to make Akashi uncomfortable, because Midorima has outwardly expressed before that he didn't wanna be called "Midorin" but Momoi just kept calling him that.
And don't get me wrong, I'm not saying they're shitty friends for doing this. I just think that there was a lack of communication within the Teiko gang, and in an attempt to respect what they assumed were Akashi's boundaries, they unintentionally excluded Akashi from activities that he would absolutely participate in if he had just been given the chance.
This post is long asf so I'll just conclude here, but one of my delusional headcanons for the Teiko gang post-Extra Game is that Akashi becomes more open with them about how he feels and also about wanting to be included in more of their activities, and so he finally gets to experience having a regular hangout with friends like a regular teenager. I just think he deserves that so bad after feeling alone for so many years.

Growth & Realisation (Oscar Piastri x Reader)
Summary- In a world where you are destined to be with someone forever, a hopeless romantic lives her life in hope of finally finding her soulmate.
Part 1 Alt ending
ENDING Oscar's POV
Tumblr media
I left that day, leaving my soulmate for good or so I thought. That's the funny thing about fate you see, you can't avoid it. If it was meant to be then it was meant to be. Things between me and my girlfriend soured after that. It was like we fought about the smallest of things and couldn't see eye to eye. All I could think about was my soulmate in the moments we fought, would she also get angry at me the same way my girlfriend did. Her name sounded so pretty, that interaction embedded in my heart. But every time I tried to remember her voice I would also remember the heart break I caused. It served me right. The relationship I held onto to let her go was falling apart right in front of my eyes and I didn't know how to fix it.
After 6 months of back and forth me and my girlfriend finally broke up. It didn't hurt as much as I thought it would. I spent most of my time wallowing in my own pity. I didn't know where she lived or what she did. How was I going to find her? All of this had started to affect my racing. Charles had really taken on the role of a big brother after the adoption that happened as a joke. He had noticed my turmoil.
Charles sat me down one day, "Hey Oscar, is everything alright? You've been so out of it lately." he said. I didn't know what to tell him or where to start but I knew one thing he was/ had been in a similar predicament. "What did you do when you found your soulmate while you were dating your ex?" Charles seemed to understand where this was going, "I broke up with her and started seeing my soulmate." he said. "Was it that easy to leave the person you loved for your soulmate?" I asked. "It was a no brainer, she was the love of my life. We were fated to be together for the rest of our lives." He answered. I let out an exasperated sigh.
I ran a hand through my already messy hair, I muttered, "Fuck" and kept rubbing my eyes which were now raw from all the rubbing. Charles sat there quietly waiting for me to talk to him. He didn't push me. I slowly began speaking, "6 months ago, I met my soulmate." I breathed out while he waited for me to continue. "I was in a relationship at that time and I didn't want to give up that comfort for something new. So I rejected my soulmate. But every day since then I've been in turmoil. My relationship ended. I can't drive properly, I can't think straight. Every waking moment is occupied with the thought of my soulmate. Even sleep wouldn't grace me to end my misery." I spoke. Charles patted my back, "Mate, you fucked up. I don't know what to say but you should try to find her. That's the only way. She is supposed to be the one. That's why your heart is like this. You shouldn't have rejected her. I am not sure if she will take you back but you can try. Meeting your soulmate is a once in a life time thing and you just blew it. Let's hope for your sake, you get another chance." I felt like crying, this can't be happening I thought.
10 years later
It has been so long since that incident, but I hadn't stopped looking. I went back to the city we first met every once in a while in search of Y/N. I knew the city like the back of my hand at this point. I travelled the world more than necessary in hopes of meeting her. My racing career was slowly winding down, having won a lot of races and finding success that I always dreamt of. The one thing missing was the person I could share this with. I dreamt of our kids and them becoming racers too.
On an uneventful day in autumn, I was back home for the weekend. The morning swim was quite refreshing but a good coffee would really wake me up. I went to the new cafe that had popped up near my parent's house. As I neared the cafe, I saw something peculiar. My red string of fate had become visible again, after 10 years. Maybe fate was really giving me another chance and I wasn't going to fuck it up again. I followed the thread to finally see her. She looked beautiful as ever, I started to walk towards her when she saw me and bolted. I ran after her, calling out her name. She was fast but after a few minutes I was able to finally catch her. "Y/N, Hi! I'm Oscar Piastri, your soulmate." I said, the dichotomy of the statement. She blinked at me thrice before freeing herself from my grasp. "What do you want?" she spat. I could feel the hurt. "I-I-I, uhm, we're soulmates. I've been searching for you for so long. I'm just happy we met." I said scratching my neck. She looked at me confused, "I thought you had a girlfriend and we couldn't be together" she said. "That was a long time ago, and I broke up with her soon after we met. I just, I'm sorry for being an ass. I just wanted us to give it another go. I searched every country for you. It's funny how you are here, the last place I would look." I laughed. "You don't have to forgive me immediately. But I really want to be with you. If you'll let me?" I rushed to complete my sentence in one breath.
Tears started to well up in her eyes, I quickly reached to wipe them off. My hands cupping her cheeks. "You know I've been watching you everyday since then, making sure you were ok, celebrating your wins and crying at your loses. I watched all of your content and held onto all the merch and memorabilia but I couldn't get myself to go to another race. This feels like a dream. You've broken my trust for sure and I can't let you in immediately, but you are my soulmate at the end of the day." She said. I was crying at this point. She wiped away my tears. "I'm so sorry Y/N. I'll make it up to you for the rest of my life. I promise." She smiled for the first time since we met. "Can I kiss you?" I whispered. "I thought you'd never ask." She said as she pushed herself up to meet my lips. The moment was perfect and I was going to cherish this and her for the rest of my life.
I hope you like it. There is an alternate ending if you like angst.

Bad Nauheim, December 24th 1958
It all just felt like a dream. A surreal dream.
Mary was only supposed to come over and visit him in Bad Nauheim for his 'Welcome back' party after his maneuvers in Grafenwöhr.
She was supposed to be back in Frankfurt to celebrate Christmas with her family.
She was supposed to sleep in her own bed in her own room at Hotel Grunewald.
Now, after a very long, nerve-racking phone call involving her, her father, her mother, Vernon Presley and of course Elvis himself the previous day, she found herself staying until Boxing Day.
And even though she wanted to obey the rules her parents had laid down before she went, she somehow found herself sneaking into his bed after dark every night.
There was no denying that being the centre of his attention had to be one of the greatest feelings in the world. Who was she to say no to him when he'd give her those puppy eyes, which he knew made her knees weak every time, and ask her to spend Christmas with him? Or to spend the night in his room, in his bed?
But for now, she wouldn't want it any other way. And although it was wrong, something about the way he'd pull her close to him in his sleep just felt right. Consequences didn't matter when she could feel his pillowy lips press against her forehead while she was drifting off to sleep.
She could just live this dream forever.
With an irritated sigh Mary raised her arms to shield her eyes from the horribly bright light suddenly shining right into her face, disrupting her peaceful slumber.
When this didn't have the desired effect she began to blindly wave around, in an attempt to slap away the flashing sensation. Her hand promptly hit something cool and hard with a dull thud and she let out a small gasp at the stinging pain in her wrist.
"Careful, Cherry, you're gonna break it."
"Huh? Elvis, I was asleep." She mumbled with a frown while rubbing her aching wrist.
"You're awake now honey, that's perfect." He held out a flashlight to her. The very one he'd held right into her face before. "Do me the honor, please."
"What?" She muttered, pressing her hand against her forehead, trying to make sense of his words. Her eyes fluttered closed again.
He shuffled closer, making the mattress bounce up and down for a second. "I wanna show you something, come on." He insisted and started tugging at her wrist before handing her the flashlight.
"What?" Mary repeated while squinting her eyes at him, still feeling disoriented.
He snorted. "You're asking an awful lotta questions honey, just trust me."
Mary reached out and grasped his arm, slightly pulling him towards her again, wanting nothing more than to just cuddle up against his chest again.
"It can't wait till morning?" She asked with a hopeful tone and tried to stifle another yawn. Unsuccessfully. The thought of leaving his cozy and most importantly, warm bed already made her shiver.
As if on cue, damn his psychic abilities, he pulled the blanket off of her. "Come on, Cherry, don't be no party pooper." He insisted with a small grin.
"I don't see a party." Mary grumbled, goose bumps all over her body as she got up, the flashlight still in her hand. "Okay, you won." She offered, playfully swatting at his chest.
Swiftly dodging her attack he wrapped his arms around her shoulder and pulled her close to him. "Thanks baby, now come, won't regret it."
It was one of those situations where she was asking herself how she ended up here. Sneaking through the dark corridors of the hotel at four in the morning for who knows what reason.
Well, actually she knew exactly how she ended up here. Being with Elvis always involved some kind of nocturnal activities. He didn't sleep much, that much she'd gathered in the time she's spent with him already. And he didn't like being alone.
He still had his arms around her as he guided her down the first flight of stairs. Suddenly, he let out a snort and stopped at a random guest's door. "Watch this." He raised his hand to knock, a mischievous grin on his face.
"Elvis, don't you dare!" Mary hissed and glared at him, once again remembering the talk she had with with had with Otto, the hotelier, regarding Elvis and his friends’ behaviour. Especially Red and Lamar who, in their free time while Elvis was at the base, had nothing better to do than test his patience with one childish prank after another. More than once Otto had considered kicking out the entire entourage. And to be honest she didn't blame him.
"What exactly did you want to show me?" She asked quickly to keep him from really knocking at that damn door.
He lowered his hand and nudged her forward with a smirk, down the next flight of stairs. "Otto has told me all about the ghosts haunting this place, honey, it's some scary stuff, I'll tell ya. There's the one about that young woman falling off the balcony a hundred years or so ago. Apparently her name was Mary and she also happened to be the prettiest girl in town, just like you, honey."
"Not funny!" She didn't want to sound scared, but those creaky old stairs and the flashlight in her hand, though very bright, being the only source of light made her feel like she was in a Hitchcock movie.
"Not to mention the Christmas spirits." He continued.
Mary stopped and raised an eyebrow, facing him. "You really think I'm gonna believe you? Sorry Elvis, I don't believe in ghost stories."
"Careful honey, starting to sound like ol' Scrooge."
"And you're sounding silly. Why are you ruining the holiday with ghosts? I've always loved Christmas. Look-" She gestured outside the large window next to the stair landing, looking at the snow covered street at the old light pole adorned with milky white Christmas lights. "It's so pretty."
It was peaceful, silent for a while as she simply watched the snow fall, it was hypnotising. Silent Night.
"Boo!" Elvis' hands wrapped around her waist from behind, scaring her.
Mary let out a soft shriek and felt the flashlight slipping from her grasp. Knowing what was about to happen but unable to do anything about it with her bad reflexes, a small curse just left her lips as she squeezed her eyes shut and covered her ears, awaiting the inevitable bang. When the flashlight collided with the carpeted floor, a dull thud echoed through the hallway. It gave out, shrouding them in complete darkness.
For a few seconds neither one dared to move, both frozen and awaiting someone coming down the stairs and scolding them like they were two kids sneaking out of bed to steal some candy. After a few seconds of undisturbed silence they agreed with a mutual sigh of relief that the noise apparently didn't rouse anyone from sleep.
"Great, E!" She finally whispered with a small breathless laugh, a hand over her rapidly rising and falling chest, her eyes only slowly adjusting to the darkness. She stretched out her arms, not wanting to run into the wall on accident as he bent down next to her.
"Cherry, did ya have to throw the damn thing away?" He chuckled, though there was a hint of frustration in his voice while he was looking for the now broken flashlight.
"Did you have to scare me?" She shot back with a snort. "Can you find it?" She asked after a while of him crouching on the floor.
The only answer she got was a low hum.
"What is it?" She inquired when she suddenly felt his feather light touch on her exposed calfs, making her gasp. "Elvis?" She asked, an edge to her voice.
Elvis didn't respond - instead he slowly lifted the soft, white fabric of her knee-length nightdress and threw it over his head in a swift motion.
"Elvis!" She nearly squealed, scandalised, before looking around frantically and pressing herself against the wall behind her, kind of hoping to just melt into it.
"Hmm?" He hummed, his nose brushing almost carefully against her thigh.
"Oh god, what are you-" A quiet moan escaped her when his hands ran over the back of her thighs, inching higher and higher until they rested right beneath her butt.
"Someone's wearing no panties. Naughty."
"Well I didn't expect-" Mary let out a little cry when he pressed a small kiss to her inner thigh, her toes curling against the carpeted floor.
"Gotta be quiet, otherwise everyone will hear ya." He mumbled, his hot breath fanning over her bare skin.
"E, that tickles!" She whispered, trying her best to sound stern.
"Just want a little taste of my sweet Cherrypie." There was this pleading tone in his voice that would just transform her into a puddle. Mary actually thought her legs would give out as he lightly nibbled at her soft skin, his big hands now fully sprawled over her butt, pressing her closer to his face.
"But, you can't-" She breathed as her back arched against him. Treacherous body.
"Can't show my favourite girl how much I'm smitten with her? And her legs? And her-" Mary's hand shot up to muffle the shriek escaping her when his lips brushed over her mound.
"Oh god! Not here!" She argued weakly, her voice as shaky as her legs.
Mary's eyes had finally adjusted to the darkness and she saw his head appeared from under her nightgown. He grinned up at her. "I won't tell if you won't, honey." He drawled nonchalantly.
A huff escaped her - frustrated and excited at the same time. She was at such a disadvantage with him and they both knew it. But she couldn't say she didn't enjoy the power he had over her. A word, a touch and she was at his mercy, but she trusted him. So she decided to just let herself fall into his touch.
He sensed her silent agreement and tightly gripped the back of her knee before lifting it over his shoulder, supporting her weight - and giving him easier access. Then he used both hands to slowly, agonisingly slow, push the soft cotton up her legs, only to pause and consider, his full lips pursed. She made her impatience known by pressing her calf against his strong back, urging him closer.
He clicked his tongue with another smile and shook his head before swiftly gathering the fabric and bunching it up at the center of her stomach. He looked up at her, his eyes twinkling. "Mind holding that for me, Cherry?"
She nodded mutely, then shook her head, not sure about the correct way to answer his question. Everything seemed a bit hazy as she closed her fist around the fabric.
He tapped the side of her thigh and winked at her. "Just have to look at ya, honey." His voice was just above a murmur as he took in her body for a moment, illuminated just the tiniest bit by the dim streetlight and the reflecting white snow. That concentrated look was back on his face as he rested his cheek against the side of her thigh. He did that quite often when they were close like this, like he was trying to take a mental picture.
The thought did nothing to diminish her arousal and she couldn't resist running her hand through his soft hair until it rested on the back of his head. With a wanton sigh she tried to push his head towards her, needing to feel his touch, his lips.
He obliged and leaned forward. Eyes closed in anticipation, she shuddered when his nose bumped against the soft flesh right beneath her belly button. He placed a few kisses right where the waistband of her panties would be had she worn any till his eyes found hers again. "I'm real glad you're here, Cherry. Don't know what I'd do without ya."
She nodded, his words only increasing the building pressure in her lower belly, her hips rolling in an effort to get some friction. He chuckled as he got her message. "Gotcha, no more heartfelt talk. I'm a man of action after all.” He started teasingly running his tongue over her slick folds.
"Don't stop, god, please don't stop, E." She chanted, holding onto the wall behind her, fingers dragging over some weathered paint that had begun to peel off.
"You're so wet for me." He groaned, his lips closing over her little nub. His hand roamed over her hips, over her stomach as his searing touch making her body convulse. Nerves and excitement mixed together, each little sensation and fluttery touch intensified by the notion that someone could walk in on them any second. Somewhere deep inside she was still rather scandalised, both by his sudden advances and her own lack of ability to care about it.
But all coherent thoughts were abandoned when he cupped her breast, squeezing lightly. A flick over her nipple with his thumb made her buck against him once more, her mouth hanging open in a silent cry. He suckled on her, increasing his speed, churned on by the way she was letting herself fall more and more; Literally - judging by the pressure on his shoulder where her thigh rested he had to use his hand to hold onto her hips or she'd collapse under his touch. It just took a few more strokes from his hot tongue and his strong hands squeezing her soft flesh until she came undone, stifling a loud moan that would surely give them away.
She finally sank down on the floor next to him, her chest heaving. "Elvis, please I want you." She breathed, not really recognising her own voice.
He caught her by her waist as she attempted to straddle him and carefully set her down again before shaking his head and kissing her forehead. "No, Cherrypie, not like this, not now."
"When?" She urged, her hand on his cheek, making him look at her.
He turned his head and kissed her palm. "Soon. For now I just want you to stay as you are." Upon seeing her frown he grinned and tapped her nose. "Now, don't give me that look."
She shook her head and leaned in to press her lips against his. With a dreamy sigh she opened her mouth when she felt his tongue urgently gliding over her bottom lip. Again, he didn't allow her to take control as he explored her mouth. She could taste herself on him and couldn't help herself but smile into the kiss. Eventually he pulled away from her. "Easy, not trying to win a race here."
Mary wrapped her arms around him. "So, was that what you wanted to show me?" She whispered, still breathless, cradling his head to keep him as close as possible.
"When I was down there, I just couldn't help myself honey."
A bashful laugh escaped her at this admittedly charming way of dodging her question.
"And look what I found." He proudly held up the broken flashlight.
She threw her head back. Silly man. "So much for your supposed 'ghosts'."
He licked his lips with a grin. "Don't know 'bout you, but I sure as hell heard some moaning."
"You're impossible!" She gasped, then let out a small laugh. "But I do love you, E."
"Love you too, Cherrypie. Come on now." He got up and held out his hand. Instead of leading her back to his room he made his way down another flight of stairs until they arrived in the hotel lobby.
The large christmas tree in the corner and it's decorations cast a warm glow over the room. She tapped one of the wooden nutcrackers hanging off the tree, reminding her of her favourite ballet, while Elvis made a beeline towards the connected dining room and peered out of the window. He craned his head as if looking for something specific, his hand perched up against the glass.
It slowly dawned her that whatever he was doing right now was probably the actual reason for their little nightly excursion.
"I knew it. Of course that tramp is still here." He muttered after a while.
Mary came up to him and tried to follow his gaze. "Who?"
"It's her damn car." He gestured outside.
Oh. Dee Dee.
"Daddy's probably gonna make her leave before everyone's getting up, thinking he's real smart about it." He started pacing around while Mary just helplessly stood in the corner watching, not knowing what to do or say to him.
Elvis continued, his face contorted in anger. "First he invites her to my party the other day, now they're doing, hell, I don't wanna know what they're doing." He threw up his hands and plopped himself down on the couch with a sigh. "Next thing you know, he's gonna move her in here and I gotta pretend to be all happy about it. As if I got no other fucking problems to deal with."
"I'm sorry. I wish I could help you somehow."
"Man, I just don't have the time for this kinda bullshit." He ran a hand over his face. "Colonel's been going on and on about damn publicity photos in uniform, that Christmas in Berlin picture he's already planning with Hal Wallis, trying to save what's left of my career-" His breath hitched for a moment in a humorless chuckle. "-Then I gotta worry about us getting kicked outta here-" He slaps the sofa at that. "And I somehow gotta serve my country at the same time."
She sat down next to him and exhaled heavily through her mouth. Again and again she was confronted with problems that seemed way too big for her. She could understand that he felt overwhelmed and alone. But she didn't have the slightest clue what to say to him to make him feel better. Maybe it was time to make peace with the fact that the best she could probably do was just listen to him and be there for him as best as she could.
"I'm here for you, anytime you wanna talk, I'm here to listen." She reassured him and placed a hand on his chest.
"I know honey. I appreciate it." He grabbed her calves and promptly placed her feet in his lap. "Damn, like little icicles." He let out a little laugh and started rubbing them absentmindedly.
She smiled at him and wiggled her toes. "Well, I was rushed out of bed as if the world was ending."
"Sweet Cherrypie, always makin' a big fuss outta nothing." He playfully pulled on her big toe and she had to resist the reflex to kick him.
"You're-" She huffed out a laugh but remained silent with a shake of her head. It was quiet for a while until she decided to open her mouth again, her face apologetic. "Sorry about your flashlight though."
"Honey, don't worry, already made up for it." He winked and ran his hand from her ankle up her leg. "It's nice just being here with you. I wish you could be here with me all the time."
"I know." She agreed.
"You should move here."
Her eyes widened. "What?"
"Think about it, I hate you being so far away from me."
"Frankfurt's only an hour away, E."
"Pretty much the other side of the damn planet, honey. You're not here when I need you."
"Elvis. You know I'd love to be with you. All the time. But it's not that easy."
"Of course it is."
"I got a job, my family. My life is... in Frankfurt right now. I can't even afford my own place on a secretary's salary. A learning secretary. And who says I could find a job here?"
"You'll work for my father. He'll take you under his wing, he needs a secretary. And you can move in here, live with us."
She blinked, not entirely sure how she felt about the idea of working for him.
"Elvis, I don't know-"
"You'll move in here. And then we can always be together." He repeated, reinforced his point as if that'll just change her mind. To her own confusion she actually found herself considering it. "It'll work out, honey, you'll see." Upon seeing her hesitation he comfortingly brushed over her hair. "I just want ya close to me. I wanna take care of ya."
Mary leaned into his touch and sighed, overwhelmed at his proposal. It was madness. And working for him might effect their relationship. The one they hadn't even officially defined yet. Her understanding was that they were still dating and now he wants her to move in. Under the premise of working for his father.
Now it was her turn to run a hand over her face - in confusion. She knew she wanted to say yes. At least that's what her heart wanted. It didn't take much to convince her to leave everything behind and stay with him. Still, she tried to be rational about it. "Elvis, I'm really not sure-"
He placed his finger against her lips and shook his head while shushing her. Her eyes drifted down towards his beautifully puckered lips. "Nah, stop it, baby. At least think about it. Don't say no right away, that ain't fair."
She opened her mouth only to close it again, not sure how to put her thoughts into words. It might mess up everything now if she asked questions, but she willed herself to go through with it. "What would this mean for us?"
He leaned in closer and she nearly had trouble holding eye contact with him. "What are you talking about, honey?"
Mary raised her eyebrows and gathered her courage before trying once again. "I mean for our relationship."
He smiled, albeit looking a bit bewildered. Either he really didn't understand or he just straight up refused to. "We'd be together way more often honey, don't know what you're getting at." He shrugged with a frown. As if she started talking Chinese all of the sudden.
Mary inclined her head. "It wouldn't be weird?" A pause. "We haven't been dating for too long." She added, her voice small, almost not wanting him to hear it.
He sat up straight, setting her feet onto the ground. "Honey, I just don't understand where this talk is coming from now."
She guiltily eyed his fingers, how he was fiddling with the ring on his pinky finger. He seemed tense and agitated, his posture reminding her of a soldier standing at attention. That's the last thing she wanted right now. In an attempt to appease him she carefully explained. "I'm only saying we should think and properly talk about it before rushing to a decision that we might regret."
Suddenly he shot up from the couch and turned away from her. So much for defusing the situation. "Damn, I can't talk to you right now. Not making any goddamn sense, woman! No one's making any goddamn sense."
Mary panicked at his sudden outburst, not wanting to upset him. "Elvis, I'm sorry-"
"Nuh-uh!" He pointed his finger at her and she froze. "Need to clear my damn head." He muttered and turned, making his way back upstairs.
She slowly got up as well, successfully blinking away the tears that were burning behind her eyelids. The silence as she followed him was nearly unbearable, but she didn't dare saying another word. As he opened the door to his room, she turned the opposite direction, towards her own room.
"Now where do you think you're going?"
Mary released the door handle as if she had burnt herself and faced him, feeling caught for whatever reason. She thought it was obvious that she wasn't gonna join him now. "Uh, I thought-"
He sighed. "Cherry, just come over here damnit."
"...Okay." She whispered, utterly perplexed and at a loss for words.
However, his behaviour made sense to her when she awkwardly laid down on her back, careful to keep a safe distance and he scooted closer to her - not so close as to fully press his body against hers, but so that he could rest his hand on her stomach. As much as he apparently didn't want to deal with the confusion and worry he felt, there was something else that he undeniably hated more. Being alone with those thoughts.
Mary spent the next morning like every morning; helping Mrs. Presley in the kitchen, who insisted on cooking and cleaning despite the hotel having staff for that. She was a tough one and Mary looked up to her, talking to Minnie Mae was a source of comfort to her, their talks often trivial and relaxed. Maybe that's what she liked most about their time spent together.
This morning however there was a certain edge, a tension in the air. At first she thought she imagined it, still a bit shaken by Elvis' and her last interaction. That was until she realised it was Christmas Eve and everyone was, indeed, rushing around and being busy preparing tonight's dinner party.
The presence of Red and Lamar didn't necessarily help the uneasiness she felt. Most of the time she tried to avoid them as best as she could, trying not to let on that the two men always kind of intimidated her and she'd just rather stay off their radar. They were currently lounging at the kitchen table, the topic of discussion was, unsurprisingly, Elvis, she didn't really hear them talk about anything else. She'd listen but hardly contribute. Right now they were wondering about his dismissive attitude during breakfast this morning.
Mary dried her hands on her apron and paused for a second. She didn't even hear Elvis getting up and leaving for the base that morning. He couldn't have gotten any sleep, after all it was nearly morning when they went back to bed. Why did she feel bad? He was the one that woke her at four in the morning, god knows if he's gotten any sleep before that.
Loud shrieking and laughter on the street outside suddenly caught her attention. Thankful for the distraction from her spiraling thoughts she turned her head towards the noise.
"He's back." Red announced without even looking up, pulling a thread from the tablecloth in front of him.
Indeed, he was. Outfitted in his full army uniform, Elvis got out of his white BMW and raised his hand to greet his devoted fans who were waiting - in the cold- in front of the hotel. Mary watched the scene, taking in the wonder and adoration on everyone's face as they gathered around him. The unbridled love they had for him and the enjoyment he got out of did warm her heart momentarily. It was a beautiful thing to witness.
He was like a magnet, putting everyone under a spell he didn't quite understand himself. It seemed like all the people in his life wanted him, claimed him for themselves. And she saw that he did his best to accommodate everyone, striving to fulfill everyone's needs without really considering his own. There were so many people expecting something from him, wanting something from him and she wasn't sure how he navigated all that pressure.
His outburst earlier made a lot more sense now that she saw him trying to please as many people as possible at the same time. He was taking his time, trying go give everyone his attention, shaking hands, giving hugs, signing whatever they asked him to.
When he linked arms with two pretty girls and walked them up to the front porch she told herself that she wouldn't let it bother her. He must doing something like this all the time. It was just part of who he was. She had to get used to it, whether she liked it or not.
"Oh he never takes the girls inside." Mrs. Presley exclaimed, putting down the silver spoon she was busy polishing.
"Must be feeling that Christmas spirit." Red offered.
"He's a giver ain't he." Lamar added, turning the page of his newspaper that he was pretending to read for nearly an hour now.
Mary felt her face grow hot and pursed her lips. He led the giggling girls inside, settling right in between them on the couch, where they'd sat last night. She refused to get upset about the fact that he hadn't even come over to greet her. He'd definitely seen her as he walked past her.
From the corner of her eye she saw him leaning towards the girl on his right, his fingers buried in her hair, playing with her fancy updo, while she was exitedly saying something to her friend in German.
Mary dried another plate and put it away before fully glancing at him. He shot her a pointed look before leaning in and kissing that brunette's cheek, who was now giggling uncontrollably.
She felt like someone had just dumped a bucket of ice water over her head. And again, her thoughts went back to last night's argument. Or whatever it was. She herself wasn't a hundred percent sure what it was. All she knew now is that suddenly, in that very moment, she felt more far away from him than ever. Did he do that on purpose?
It felt similar to that day where her friend Helga showed her an article in the Bravo magazine about his supposed girlfriend, Anita Wood, he left behind in the States. Her initial reaction was shock before she told herself to get it together. He would've told her something like this, she was sure of it. She wouldn't put the tabloid's drama over his word. On the other hand he didn't tell her that Elisabeth was supposed to be at his 'Welcome back' party. But she was just a friend, right?
Again and again she was reminded that he could never truly only belong to her. He was a superstar after all. When she was alone with him she tended to forget that very important detail. She knew she had to be tolerant in that regard if she didn't want to lose him.
After a deep breath she turned back to Mrs. Presley, asking if she could help her with polishing the cutlery for tonight. It was hours later after the two girls left with signed photographs and him retreating back to his room without even looking her way that she couldn't take it anymore.
Making her way upstairs and knocking at his door strangely felt like admitting a mistake, but his silent treatment felt decidedly worse. "Elvis?"
He had changed into a white knitted cardigan and black dress pants and she stood up a bit straighter when he leaned against the doorframe with his arms crossed, looking down on her with an unreadable expression on his face.
Mary eyed him carefully before clearing her throat putting on the most nonchalant tone. "How was your day?"
"Spent the day at the base decorating the company Christmas tree and singing Silent Night until eventually the last poor fella in that building got tired of it"
Apparently he had no interest discussing last night's incident, preferring to just act like it never happened.
For now she'd accept it. For now she'd come to the conclusion that she's overwhelmed him as much as he'd overwhelmed her. She figured giving it all some time would be the best course of action.
"I could never get tired of hearing you sing." She answered truthfully, looking at him through her lashes.
He gave her a quick once over before breaking into a smile. "Aw, little one, always knows what to say. Come here, missed you." He opened his arms, inviting her into his room. After giving her a quick peck on the lips he held her close to his chest.
Both relief and confusion flooded her at his unexpected response.
"You missed me?" She asked in a muffled voice, her face still buried in his sweater.
He hummed, the vibrations of his chest against her cheek. "Very much."
"You were in good company from what I saw." She stated, taking a step back.
He followed her and put his hands on her cheeks. "Aw, honey, those girls, they mean nothing. You're my bestest, favourite little girl, you know that."
Mary shrugged with a frown. "They're your fans, I guess I understand."
"You don't have to be jealous, Cherry."
"I know." She quickly answered, her tone firm.
He grinned. "The look on your sweet face says otherwise, you know that?"
"I'm not pulling a face!"
"You are! Right here-" He pecked her forehead. "And here!" Another peck to her lips.
"Okay, okay-" She chuckled, playfully pushing him away. "I got it! Jesus."
He cupped her chin, rubbing his thumb over her bottom lip. "Keep that happy face for tonight, wanna show you off."
"You do?"
"And I want you to look extra pretty tonight." For some reason his tone made the question feel like an assignment.
Mary blinked and looked at herself in the mirror before mindlessly playing with a few strands of hair, twisting it between her fingers before gathering it at the back of her head, feeling reminded of the times she had to present something at school with hardly anything prepared. "Oh, you know, I thought I could try this updo-"
He pressed a quick kiss to her exposed neck, making her giggle. "Honey, I'm sure you got that all figured out. What are you gonna do with your face?" His fingers softly grazed over her cheekbone.
She blinked at his statement before frowning the slightest bit and dropping her hair back down. "What's wrong with my face?"
"Aw, absolutely nothing, honey, it's perfect. My little baby's pretty as a picture, yes she is." He assured her while squeezing her cheeks and making kissing sounds as his face inched closer to hers.
"Silly." She giggled before quickly glancing back at the mirror, a questioning look on her face.
"No need to pout, Cherry. We left that behind us, remember? It's just, uh, your eyes are so expressive, I just want everyone to notice them. And I happen to know how to make em' look real good." He explained with a shrug.
Mary pondered his words for a second, still feeling a bit uneasy from his sudden mood shift.
"Come on, let me do this. Gonna look so pretty."
Upon seeing his pleading face she broke into a small smile and with a nod she leaned in to plant a quick kiss on his full lips. "Alright... but please don't make me look like a clown, okay?" She joked.
He pretended to consider it for a moment, brushing a strand of hair away from her face, before breaking into a grin. "Tempting, gotta admit that, Cherry."
As he gathered all the supplies from a small leather bag he'd retrieved from his drawer, Mary sat down on the chair, fiddling with her hands in her lap.
"Okay just look ahead baby, look at me." He instructed. Before he started he lowered his head and gave her a stern look, raising an eyebrow. "Okay, hold still now, would ya?"
Mary shakily exhaled, feeling nervous all of the sudden and nodded when he cupped her chin, his thumb softly caressing her skin. He leaned in closer, his scent completely surrounding her, making her heartbeat picked up in a second. She had to look down, feeling bashful under his intense gaze.
"Eyes on me, honey, look at me."
"Sorry." She quickly cleared her throat before focusing back on his eyes. However it didn't take very long until her gaze drifted to his full lips and she was utterly cativated by the way they hung open the slightest bit in concentration. It didn't take long for him to let out an impatient sigh. He lowered the brush and tapped her nose to get her attention. "Cherry, I need ya to look ahead for this to work."
"Okay, okay, alright, I'll do my best now." She mumbled, failing miserably at sounding determined. The fact that her face felt like it was on fire didn't really help. Out of the corner of her eye she saw the snow covered park across the hotel, yet she was convinced there were beads of sweat running down her back.
He cooed and lowered the brush. "Aw, I love it when you're all shy like this, honey. But ya got no reason to. It's just me, you know that."
"I know." Just you. Just Elvis Presley, she thought.
"Now close your eyes." He whispered softly.
Her eyes fluttered shut at his words and she nearly jumped when he carefully started applying the eyeliner on her upper lid.
"Cherryyyy, stop moving around." He gently chided her.
"I'm trying." She answered, suppressing a laugh. "It tickles."
Even though she couldn't see it, she could almost feel him smirking at her statement. Those were the same words she'd uttered the night before in a very different context, a shaking mess under his touch.
"You want me to help you keep still again?" He put a hand on her thigh and gave her a squeeze, making her gasp.
"I think I'll manage." She nearly squeaked in response.
After a few minutes that felt like hours he leaned back, finally finished, his eyes roaming over her face. "Oh, look at you, looking all pretty." He cooed and brushed away a strand of hair that had fallen over her eyes.
Mary blushed and inspected herself in the mirror, touching her face and blinking a few times. She raised her eyebrows and saw the finely drawn black wing. Her eyelashes fluttered, the mascara making them look impossibly long. "You're really good at this."
"Lips, honey."
She laughed when he retrieved a red lipstick from the bag. "I understand the mascara and eyeshadow but why on earth do you have this lipstick?"
"Might have sent Lamar to get it, should've seen his face."
"Oh god."
He cupped her chin again, his eyes narrowed, assessing his own work before moving closer again, making his chair creak slightly. She blushed as he reached out to apply the lipstick and had to fight yet another smile.
"Don't ya move now. I mean it, Cherry." He warned as he noticed the corners of her mouth twitching. A muffled sound escaped the back of her throat in a weak attempt to defend herself, but he quickly shushed her. "No talking either, I know that's hard for you, but I'm not done here."
Mary narrowed her eyes at his comment, but took a deep steadying breath, willing herself to do as he said while fighting a grin. It never ceased to amaze her how he could say something like this, yet remain utterly charming. It was almost scary how much he'd wrapped her around his finger.
Her expression became blank however as he actually started working on her bottom lip. It suddenly hit her how intimate the whole situation was and the tension was nearly too much for her to handle.
Mary's sudden compliance pleased him, she could tell by the way his gaze suddenly drifted from her lips towards her eyes with an almost unnoticeable quirk of his brow.
"There, cherry red lips for my sweet Cherrypie." He gently patted her cheek as he finished.
She let out a deep sigh of relief at finally being able to relax her face and breathe normally again and leaned closer to the mirror. With a tilt of her head from one side to the other she examined his work, still in disbelief that the woman in the mirror was actually her. A small smile spread across her face. "Oh wow"
He looked down at her with a satisfied smirk and promptly licked his lips when their eyes met. "Quit looking at me like that honey, or I'll make a mess of your lipstick."
With a blush she looked back at her reflection once again, appreciating how her blue eyes did look more expressive and how the bold red colour on her lips made her feel like a famous singer or actress. Someone with confidence.
"Aw, you look so beautiful. I could just eat you up." Elvis leaned in to playfully nibble at her neck.
"Thank you." She breathed, feeling her cheeks and neck get hot, as she squeezed his arm that was sprawled over her chest. They looked nice together, she thought, before he carefully tapped against her hips, urging her to get up.
"Now, baby, get changed, yeah? Put on your prettiest little dress, okay?"
When she returned to his room, still grateful that she had shamelessly over-packed her suitcase, she saw him sitting in front of the mirror, busy fixing his own hair.
Mary stepped closer and sat down on the edge of the bed, right behind him. For a while she just looked at him, admiring the way his nimble fingers gently held onto the comb in a practised grip. The way he just ran it through his shorter-than-usual hair with ease looked almost graceful and Mary couldn't resist scooting a bit closer to him until she could wrap her arms around his middle. She hoped she didn't bother him too much when she laid her chin on his shoulder. It seemed like their argument never happened.
"Anything you want, honey?" He asked eventually, a small gleam in his eyes.
"Why are your eyelashes longer than mine? It's not fair." She sighed, her fingers lightly dancing over his arms.
"They come in real handy, I'll tell ya. Making aaaall the pretty girls swoon." He drawled before reaching behind to lightly pinch her waist with a wink.
Mary giggled and leaned forward to press her her burning cheek against his cooler one. "They are swoonworthy." She agreed and continued studying his face in silent awe, once again marvelling at how utterly perfect he was. It was infuriating.
He smirked at her through the mirror when he felt her breasts pressing into his back. She felt him shift slightly. "Trying to start something, little one?"
His sultry voice sent delicious tingles through her entire body and she smiled briefly before shaking her head. "I love you." Her tone was gentle as she rubbed her hands over his dress shirt, slowly caressing his belly.
Her whisper made him coo and he slightly turned his body to face her. "I love you too, sweetheart. So much. See? We're made for each other, Cherry." He softly nuzzled her nose with his. "That's why ya should stay here. With me. It's easy like that."
Her mind involuntarily drifted to Elisabeth. And Anita. "It's not as easy as that." She answered, withdrawing just the tiniest bit, trying not to look remorseful.
He quickly shook his head. "No, no, no, just a second ago ya were being so sweet and now this again. Don't ruin it now."
"I'm just being honest." She shrugged.
"Me too." He insisted, pulling her close to him again.
A mean 'Are you?' nearly escaped her but she quickly swallowed before actually saying it out loud.
"I love you. That ain't enough for you?" He asked and furrowed his brows, his hand softly caressing her.
Mary bit her lip and lowered her head. After clearing her throat she looked up into his eyes again. "Of course... And it means so much to me that you want me here with you. Believe me, there’s nothing I’d rather do than just move here and spend every minute with you.” She smiled carefully and leaned in to hug him tightly. “You just surprised me, and leaving my family is a big deal. I’m sorry.” She mumbled into his shoulder.
“Aw, Cherry, it’s alright, don’t worry.” He held her close to him, gently rocking her back and forth with him. “And I-I know it’s a lot. Just want the best for you, gotta get that in your stubborn little head.”
She opened her mouth but he shushed her. “Just trust me on this. Let’s not talk about now, though, Cherrypie. It’s Christmas Eve.”
Mary nodded in agreement, but she knew they’d have to come to a decision soon. After all, as much as it felt like one; it wasn’t just a dream.

"Please, I'm begging you." Chris was in fact on his knees begging me to help him. Normally, I would jump at the chance to help any one of my brothers but this time was different.
"No, I'm not going to help you cheat." I wasn't a cheater myself. So if I helped him cheat wouldn't that make me one?
"I will do anything." Chris was serious about it.
"Why do you even date both of them?" I didn't understand. I don't know if him telling me why would make me understand either but it was worth a shot.
"Aubrey helps me pass my classes and Alexis is like hot." Chris had a smug look on his face. I sighed. As his triplet brother, I knew I had to help. "Hell yeah." He knew by my big sigh he won.
"Which one am I going out with?" I asked. I regretted this so much already but I couldn't let Chris fail his classes and in his defense, Alexis was actually pretty hot.
"Are you gonna change your mind if I say Aubrey?" Chris' face changed to concern.
"I mean no but -"
"Okay, good. Go get dressed." Chris was walking away to do the same but I stopped him.
"Where am I going?" I needed more context to my last-minute booked evening.
"Aubrey loves sushi so I booked us a reservation at Hana Yori."
"I hate sushi." I stuck my hands out like he should know that.
"Then take her to a movie instead." Chris really only cared about passing his classes. Now that I think about it he probably just copied her homework when they were together anyway. I went upstairs and started going through my closet trying to find the most Chris-looking outfit I could. I took off my comfy clothes and started shifting through everything I had. Nothing looked like Chris to me. I wanted to play it safe and chose all-black everything. I had a bad feeling this wasn't going to work. When we were younger we looked alike but since we have grown up we have differences now. I took off my favorite necklace and tucked it away safely. I sat in the mirror and started fluffing my hair to the front of my forehead. It wasn't curling enough to look right. I stared at my reflection getting nervous. I didn't like going out without my brothers. They were my safety net in case I had a literal mental breakdown. Now I was dreading this. I grabbed a hat and lifted my hair back before slipping it on backward. I nodded at myself in the mirror and crept out of my room.
"Going out Chris?" Nick asked. "Woah what?" He noticed his mess up.
"Chris double booked his girlfriends so he needs a fill-in." I rolled my eyes.
"That's crazy." He started laughing. The sound brought me comfort. I laughed a little too. We both went downstairs to see Chris dressed and ready to go. He was dressed less fancy than I was. I gave him a look.
"Alexis and I are Netflix and chilling." He said it humorously.
"Let me get a picture of this." Nick fumbled his phone out.
"No!" Chris and I yelled at the same time. I did not want this coming out to anyone that I purposely dressed or was acting like Chris.
"What if Alexis or Aubrey sees it?" Chris was trying to go undetected. Nick put his phone away.
"Fine but you should probably wear a hoodie and cover those tattoos." I looked at Chris and then myself and saw my ink as the most noticeable difference. I just forget I have them sometimes.
"It would be cool if you didn't mess this up." Chris did pow pow with his fingers at me.
"Good luck with that." Nick left to go edit the last video we just recorded. I rolled my eyes just regretting all of this deeply. Being Chris' brother was taxing. I grabbed a jacket on the way out the door behind Chris. I drove and dropped him off at Alexis' house. I pulled up the directions to Aubrey's and started feeling my heart race. What do I do if she can tell? Am I supposed to out Chris? This was hands down his worst idea yet. He owed me big time for this. Alexis would have been more fun because she is hot at least but I know that's why Chris wanted to hang out with her. Come to think of it, I have never seen Aubrey. They "study" after school and go on dates every once in a while. Chris just happened to book them both for today like an idiot. I wish Nick still had his dark brown hair then he could do this. That would be some comedy. I smirked to myself at the thought of Nick acting like Chris. I texted Chris and told him to text her he was there. After a few minutes, the front door opened and Aubrey came out to the car. I reached over and opened the door from the inside for her.
"You never drive, this is cool." Fuck. I didn't think about that.
"I wanted tonight to be special." I cringed knowing Chris would never say that. Once she was buckled she turned to look at me and I locked eyes with her. Since this was the first time I had ever seen her I studied her face. She had light brown eyes with tan skin. Her cheeks and nose were dotted with freckles and her hair was falling over her shoulders in little curls. She smiled at me and I instantly felt guilty for lying and helping Chris cheat.
"So where are we going?" Her voice was like honey. Sweet and thick. It swirled around in the air I was suffocating in. "You okay?" She asked me.
"Yeah, I just - wow, you are beautiful," I said. I was sort of speechless because of how good she looked.
"Thank you." She started blushing a little. I shook my head getting back on track to the date.
"We are going to Hana Yori." I decided she deserved a good night and a plain movie date wouldn't be fair to her.
"You are so sweet." She grabbed my hand and held it. I let her. We arrived at the restaurant and were seated fast. I almost said 'Matt' when checking in but she was playing on her phone so it went unnoticed.
"What sushi are you getting?" I asked her. I hated sushi and didn't know anything about any kind so I was probably going to copy her choice.
"Would you find it cliche to get the California roll?" She did a little giggle.
"I think I'll get that too." I smiled. All I could think was how could Chris justify cheating on her she was so beautiful and she was clearly smart if she could keep Chris from failing his classes. The dinner passed and I casually hid little pieces of sushi all over the table and even dropped a couple on the floor to be extra discreet. She talked most of the time but I liked listening to her. I was learning about her family and her pet cat. She told me about how she was nervous for a test because if she failed she wouldn't be able to apply for a certain college she wanted. She talked about her parents fighting and how she couldn't wait to leave the house for good. She was a real person and it was cool to see her emotions change while going through the ups and downs of her week.
"Chris?" I snapped back to reality.
"Yeah?" I asked back.
"Are you okay? I usually don't do all of the talking."
"I'm good. I just like hearing about you. It's dope." I don't know why I kept thinking Chris talked so weird but I was nervous and that's what I was blaming it on.
"Dope?" She laughed. Her laugh was a little ugly but it was defining which was cool.
"You ready to go?" I asked looking at her empty plate. She nodded. While paying I made a mental note of how much it cost because I was definitely making Chris pay me back for helping him out.
"Are you sure you are okay? You are a little quieter than normal." She grabbed my hand and started swinging it back and forth with hers as we walked to the car.
"Yeah, I'm just enjoying my night with you." That wasn't entirely a lie. I had heard some things about her from Chris before but he failed to mention how perfect she was. It did make sense though with some extra thought. Chris and I don't like the same girls. Alexis is hot but I find her very bleak and dumb. I just assumed Aubrey was ugly because Chris never described her as anything other than smart. I wasn't sure what I was expecting but Aubrey wasn't it. She was quiet in the car ride to her house. I played some random rap over the Bluetooth hoping it was something Chris would normally vibe with her. I saw her looking at me a lot; it was making me nervous I was caught. We might be triplets but growing up in that scenario you try to be your own person every chance you get. If you knew one of us well it wasn't hard to tell the other two apart.
"Do you want to come in?" She was a little shy in asking. This is where it got tricky. I knew what going inside meant. The hardest part is Chris wouldn't say no. Chris was a lot more open with girls. He was himself and girls just gravitated towards him. It made me so envious he never had to try. "Chris? Do you want to come inside?" I had to make a choice.
"Yeah, sure." I sighed hard after she stepped out of the van. I turned the key and stepped out. She opened her front door and looked back at me before entering.
"We have to be quiet, my parents are upstairs." She whispered. I nodded letting her know I understood. We shuffled through the house. It was dark and since I had never been here before I held her hand getting tugged along. She opened a door and clicked a light switch showing stairs. We took the stairs down to the basement where she flipped another light on. The basement was completely finished with carpet, furniture, and a mini movie theater-looking living area. "You can take your shoes and jacket off." She said doing the same.
"I'm a bit cold so I'll keep the jacket." I couldn't take it off because of the tattoos Nick pointed out earlier.
"Well, at least come sit down." She chuckled. She grabbed my jacket and pulled me on top of her.
"Woah," I said holding myself up to create some space between our bodies. "I shouldn't -"
"Come on. What is with you?" She slapped my chest playfully. I sadly only had one good excuse which was the truth but that would cause problems for Chris and I didn't want to let my brother down. I looked into her eyes and saw the little twinkle pleading for me, well, Chris technically. Her freckles were even cuter up close. She was looking all around my face waiting for my response.
"Nothing," I said going for it. What was the harm in one kiss? I closed the space between us and connected our lips. She immediately engaged with my motions and kissed me back. She started tugging at my jacket trying to get it off. Instead of taking it off, I started tugging at her daisy-printed dress to divert her attention. She slipped out of her dress and pecked me once.
"Are you going to -" She was blushing. This was it. We were caught. Instead of answering her, I started sucking on her neck to buy time. I had to think of a good excuse to leave before things got too serious. She grabbed my pants and unbuttoned them. I tried to keep them held up but she had both her hands tugging them off. Once I was down to my compression shorts she didn't hesitate to slip her hand down my chest to under the waistband to my boner. In my absolute defense, I haven't had a girlfriend in a long time so this kind of touching and kissing hasn't happened to me in a while. "Take your jacket off." She whispered in my ear before kissing my neck. It was when she lightly bit me that I lost all regard for Chris in this situation and fell into the moment. I threw my jacket and shirt on the floor in one big heap. She slipped off her bra and I kissed her breast for a second before making my way back up past her jaw to her mouth. While our mouths were connected I carefully moved us to the chaise lounge part of the couch so she could lay down all the way. She reached for a blanket and tossed it over us. Once I was covered from the waist down I felt more comfortable taking off the rest of my clothing. Aubrey did the same. I looked at her one more time trying to get permission. She smiled and rested her hand on the back of my waist and pulled me into her. I held myself on my forearms and slowly rocked my hips into hers. She was moaning and scratching my back. Nothing about this felt wrong. When she was getting too loud I kissed her so she wouldn't alert her parents.
"I'm close." I realized my reckless behavior by not using a condom. I lifted myself so I could pull out in time. She reached and gripped my arms. I visually saw her face change to question when she noticed the tattoos.
"Nick?" She questioned.
"Matt," I said still moving on top of her. I was caught and not sure how she was going to take it.
"Oh my god Matt." She involuntarily curled into my chest and I felt her orgasm. I wasn't expecting any of this to happen and I too was suddenly orgasming. I laid down next to her on the couch and looked at her. I stared into her eyes as they darted all over my face. "You're Matt?" She finally asked.
"Yeah." The truth was out. I was waiting for her to freak out or something but she didn't.
"Where is Chris?" I had to give him up now.
"I didn't want to tell you this but I kind of have to now. He -"
"He is seeing Alexis." She interrupted me.
"He is, yeah. Wait. You know?" I was caught off guard by her nonchalant tone.
"I had a feeling. At school, they were always hanging out. I just put it together."
"Why would you stay with him?" I leaned up on one elbow.
"Chris is like super popular. I just wanted to be considered cool." She wasn't showing confidence anymore. She looked nervous being honest with me even after the moment we just shared.
"You are cool," I said excitedly.
"I've never met you before today." She was being skeptical. "You are just saying that because we fucked." She gripped the blanket that was covering her up tighter. She stared up at the plain white ceiling.
"No, no, no. That's not it." I felt so bad for everything tonight. This poor girl has been used by Chris for months and she just put up with it because she wanted friends. And now she probably feels like I used her too. "I had so much fun tonight."
"Really?" She looked back at me. Her big puppy dog eyes were looking for approval.
"Yeah." I smiled softly. "I hate sushi though." She giggled.
"But you ate it?"
"No, I threw it under the table." She full-on laughed again and I knew I was making her feel better.
"Why did you pretend to be Chris?" My heart leaped a little.
"Honestly, I don't know. You might not believe this but I am not like this. I didn't want to do it. He begged me to."
"And he's your brother." She was understanding.
"Yeah." I sighed. I was super mad at myself for going along with Chris' stupid plan. I should have known immediately because it was Chris that nothing was going to go well. There was an uncomfortable silence. "I'm going to get going." I couldn't tell if she wanted me there anymore. I wouldn't blame her for wanting some space to think about everything. I started getting dressed again.
"Matt?" Her voice was hesitant.
"Yeah?" I stopped tugging my jacket on to give her my full attention.
"I had fun tonight too." She played with her hair and looked nervous.
"I'll call you soon Aubrey." I felt better at flirting since I was being myself. I snuck out of the house fast and got into the van. I was smiling super hard and I couldn't stop. Aubrey was amazing. She was beautiful and smart and her life wasn't crazy. She was a lot like me I learned over dinner tonight. I hope Chris isn't mad at me but I think I like her. I didn't think I could because Chris likes her too. At least, I think he does. I got home and instantly ran into Nick and Chris in the kitchen.
"How was it?" Nick asked first.
"Did she figure it out?" Chris looked a little worried.
"She did." I had lied enough tonight. It was exhausting.
"Fuck." Chris started pacing the kitchen floor. "Was she mad?" He ran his fingers through his hair stressed.
"I don't think so?" I ran my fingers through my hair in thought about everything that happened and what was said between Aubrey and I.
"What does that mean?"
"She like already knew you were seeing Alexis."
"What? Then why would she not say something?"
"She was using your status to be cool." I tossed my jacket on the couch.
"That's crazy." Nick finally chimed in.
"Yeah, so it's all fair. You used her for good grades and she used you to be cool. I am going to go shower." I started walking away but Nick stopped me.
"Why is your shirt inside out?" He had a silly look on his face.
"I... uh... um..." What was I supposed to say?
"Matt?" Chris came closer to Nick and I.
"Look she thought I was you the whole time until..."
"Until what?" Nick and Chris said at the same time.
"Until we had sex... and she saw my tattoos." I just needed to be out with it.
"What?" Chris yelled. I couldn't tell if it was an angry one or just disbelief.
"Matty, Matty, Matty." Nick shook his head back and forth.
"She thought I was you." I was getting defensive.
"I told you to take her on a date not fuck her," Chris yelled back.
"It was fine until she saw my tattoos." I wasn't sure what else to say. Chris finally showed his true feelings about the situation when he started laughing. Nick was lost along with myself.
"This is insane." Chris kept laughing. I couldn't explain why but my nerves were at an all-time high. Even though Chris didn't seem upset in the slightest I felt like I was in trouble. I think Nick took notice of this and wrapped an arm around me.
"How do you feel about your date?" He asked.
"It was fine. We got sushi." I wasn't hungry even though I didn't eat yet.
"Do you like her?" Chris composed himself.
"I don't... I mean... I could." I stuttered.
"Look bud it's okay if you do. You said it yourself I was only using her to pass a few classes."
"I really just want to go shower." I wanted some time to think about it all. This was going to be a hard thing to resolve.
"Don't take too long, I wanna talk more about this." Chris shook my shoulder and I shrugged out of it. I escaped upstairs but still heard Chris and Nick laughing about it. How could they be laughing and calm? I finished showering and took notice of the silence in the house when I got out. I felt better. I think for this situation to make any sense at all I just have to admit I like her to her and Chris. I slipped into bed and got comfortable. I sighed. "So you like her?" I jumped.
"Jesus, what are you doing?" I rolled over to see Chris cozy shirtless in my bed.
"I told you I wasn't done talking about it." He was unreadable.
"What now?" I rolled my eyes as a reflex even though it was dark in the room and he couldn't see it.
"So tell me more about the date."
"Chris." I groaned.
"Pwease tell me." He asked in a baby voice.
"We went to eat. She talked the whole time. I was nervous I would say something wrong. I went to drop her off and she asked me to come inside. I figured you would so I did."
"Go on."
"We were talking in the basement and she just jumped me. I didn't think you would say no so I didn't."
"But you wanted to?"
"At first yeah. Then it got serious and it wasn't -"
"Wasn't what?"
"Nothing. I can't believe we are even talking about this. It's late. Go to bed." I rolled away from him. I didn't care if he slept in here I just wanted him to shut up. I didn't want to tell him about how nice it was or that I enjoyed it.
"If you like her, and I mean genuinely like her, I want you to know you have my blessing." I felt him shifting in the bed. We went to bed in silence.
In the morning I woke up alone in bed. I heard everyone moving downstairs. I wasn't ready to have an awkward day with Chris. I sulked downstairs to see everyone in a good mood.
"Morning." Nick ruffled my hair and I swatted him away.
"Morning," I mumbled. I avoided looking at Chris.
"Any plans today guys? Let's film the jello video." Nick suggested right away. He always kept us on track for videos. We weren't blowing up or anything but he was going to make sure we did.
"I can but not until after five I have a date with Aubrey." Chris sipped his soda. My head shot in his direction to see if he was serious. "She messaged me last night wanting to hang out." He shrugged.
"Wow. Okay." I sighed. I was actually mad at him. I couldn't tell what game he was playing but I was not too fond of it. I was jealous.
"Can we film it after five then?" Nick was playing oblivious to what he just said.
"Yeah, sure." Chris smiled. I couldn't help but stare at him. My brain was trying to analyze what could be going on. Did he suddenly want her because I liked her? Though that wasn't like Chris at all maybe he rethought what he had said last night.
"Matt?" I looked at Nick finally.
"Yeah. I can do the video." I couldn't let him know how bothered I was.
"Great. Meet back in the kitchen around 6:30," Nick instructed. I grabbed a bowl of cereal and escaped into my room. I sat down at my computer table and started journaling my issues with this situation. I couldn't help but feel like it was entirely my fault because I said yes to going on the stupid date. But the more I thought about my night with Aubrey the more I didn't regret it at all. She was so awesome. I wanted to see her again and talk to her and make sure she was doing okay after everything we did. As enjoyable as it was to be intimate with her I felt bad for using my position as Chris to do that, even though it was unplanned entirely. Since I was in my gaming corner I started Twitch streaming out of boredom. A few hundred people started watching and messaging me questions. I was answering some of them for fun as I was shooting zombies.
"I'm fine guys. Just having a really bad mental health day." I answered someone. Everyone started blowing the chat up with sorrys and questions. I silently shot more zombies and relieved my stress. Nick was requesting to be added to the stream. I accepted. Everyone freaked out. I smiled. It was always fun to see the pull we had on people.
"Hey guys! Sorry, but I have to steal Matt. We have a top-secret mission to complete." People started guessing what they assumed it was. "It's just filming Wednesday's video." He gave it up quickly.
"What time is it?" I looked at my phone and saw it wasn't after 5 yet. Chris was still gone. "I guess I have to go now. Bye, everyone." I'm sure Nick had a good reason. I stopped the stream. Nick came into my room unannounced. "Is Chris back?" I asked taking my headphones off.
"No. I just wanted to say something before we start the jello video." I stood up.
"Alright."
"I don't know what Chris is up to but he usually has bad actions for good intentions. So maybe give him the benefit of the doubt on this one."
"Nick, he took her on a date after I made it clear that I liked her."
"Did you make it clear?" He asked.
"I mean it was pretty obvious." I rolled my eyes.
"Either way. I don't think Chris wants to hurt you." He explained.
"Whatever. I'm done talking about it." I shrugged and walked downstairs. He followed me. I turned around and glared at him.
"I have to set up for the video." He raised his hands in defense. He went to the kitchen and started grabbing all the utensils needed. Both of us perked up when the door opened. Chris came inside. He wasn't smiling or frowning. It was weird. "Ready for the video?"
"Yeah. I wanna change quick." He wasn't wearing anything fancy or too cozy so it was hard to decide what kind of date they had. I stayed sitting on the chair in the corner. I scrolled my phone as I felt Nick sneaking glances at me every once in a while. Chris' feet came pattering down the stairs and I looked up. He was wearing pajama pants and a white tee shirt.
"Okay, so this video is gonna be dangerous," Nick said enticingly. I moved to sit at the kitchen island. "We are going to make jello, deaf, mute, and blind." His enthusiasm was over the top for such a bleak idea.
"I'd rather just do a car video." I sighed.
"Same." Chris agreed with me. It annoyed me he was agreeing with me.
"Oh. Okay. Let's do that instead. Get ready." Nick looked disappointed his idea was shot down so quickly. I grabbed a power bank for my phone and the car keys and went to wait for them. Nick was first out hauling the camera bags and snacks. Chris came out with nothing in hand and no visual difference. Probably took a long time doing nothing to avoid me. We set up the camera once we were parked across from CVS. I went to push record but Nick yelled stopping me.
"What?" I looked back wide-eyed.
"What is our topic about?"
"I got one," I said. I wasn't sure if it was a good one but it could get interesting. I pressed record.
"Yippity Yak we are back," Chris said immediately.
"No." Nick was straight. "Matt, since you have the topic you can introduce it, and please hurry so that doesn't happen again." Nick motioned to Chris being weird.
"So, I recently had this happen to me and I thought maybe you guys have gone through the same thing too so talking about it could be -"
"Oh great a mental health video."
"Chris shut the fuck up!" Nick yelled at him.
"Talking about it could be beneficial to you guys."
"Get there." Chris was being extra rude for no reason.
"He's fucking trying!" Nick was in the middle of us, literally and figuratively.
"Alright, so ignoring them, today's topic is what to do when someone close to you stabs you in the back." Nick's mouth dropped. Chris just looked at me as solid as a rock. After a long silence, I opened the conversation up.
"Any thoughts Nick?" I looked in the rear-view mirror to see him.
"I guess it would just depend on how close this person is to you." He was hesitant.
"Let's say a sibling." I sneered.
"Maybe their intentions weren't to hurt you." Chris finally spoke up.
"But if they were -" Nick started.
"And how would you know that?" Chris interrupted to defend.
"Pretty easy to tell if you are close to them." I was looking at Chris but avoiding eye contact. I knew if I made eye contact I would probably just get even more upset.
"I think talking to them is the first step." Nick was trying to stay neutral.
"Yeah, just talk to them." Chris looked at the camera and smiled. It wasn't what he said that made me boil over but more so the way he said it along with the fake smug smile at the camera like he didn't do anything wrong.
"How could you go on a date with Aubrey after I told you I kind of liked her!?" I yelled.
"There it is," Nick said sitting back.
"She texted me," Chris yelled back.
"So?" I wasn't sure what to say.
"So, she wanted to talk about last night." Chris wasn't looking at me which was making me more mad. It also made him harder to read.
"Okay, well, I needed to talk to her before you did." I don't know if that was true but I wanted to talk to her so badly. I wanted a chance to really be myself and explain everything without Chris fucking it up.
"She told me she wasn't upset about last night and she likes you and wanted to make sure I wouldn't be upset if she started talking to you more."
"What?" Nick leaned forward. I went silent.
"What?" I asked again after Nick.
"We were basically agreeing to break up with no hard feelings because she wants you." I stared blankly at him.
"Get it, Matt!" Nick shook my shoulder. I couldn't help but smile a little. She liked me.
"Now can you stop being mad at me?" Chris sounded genuine.
"I.. uh... yeah." I stuttered.
"Did you honestly think that I would fight with you over a girl?" Chris folded his arms. His smug smile was annoying me this time but only because he was right.
"I told you." Nick yelled from the backseat.
"You guys were talking shit about me?" Chris whipped around to look at Nick.
"I wasn't." He threw me under the bus. Chris looked at me.
"Don't act like you were some holy angel. Begging me to tell you how I felt and then taking her out was sus." I rolled my eyes avoiding his eye contact.
"She called me wanting to meet up. By what you said last night I had a feeling she was feeling you. I've never slept with her." Chris started giggling.
"You never -?" Nick put a hand on Chris' shoulder.
"No, I just copied her notes and homework and then we hung out." I started feeling my cheeks flush red.
"Now I'm just confused." I shook my head back and forth. Why would she choose to sleep with Chris the one night he and I switched places? Either she knew I wasn't Chris or she just chose the absolute worst time to get frisky.
"Well, you must be good at -" Chris started.
"Shut the fuck up. Don't finish that." I said seriously. I was a little embarrassed about everything coming to light.
"You already did," Nick mumbled from the back seat. Chris lost it. He was rocking back and forth with his face covered while his laugh permeated through the car. Nick was smiling super wide but not contributing to the sound. I was fighting a smile.
"Can we just not do this, please," I said more annoyed than begging. They simmered down.
"So what are you going to do?" Nick was bringing the conversation back to serious.
"I -" The timer went off for us to reset the camera. "Did we just film that whole thing?" We all looked at the camera forgetting it was there.
"Nick you better delete all of that," Chris said.
"I will." He reached into the bag for another battery. Chris disassembled the SD card and battery while I scrolled my phone. After they had the camera settled I put it back up.
"So what are we actually filming?" Nick looked at me specifically.
"I don't know. I don't have anything." I shook my head no.
"Do we have to do one tonight?"
"No."
"I want to get home and see if I can talk to Aubrey." I quickly drove all of us home so I could disappear into my room. I left them behind in the garage and ran up the stairs skipping steps. I was nervous and eager to talk to her. I'm glad Chris didn't fuck it up for me. I wish I could say I believed in him the whole time but there was a moment of doubt for sure. I messaged her my phone number through Facebook and stared at the little circle waiting to see if her picture appeared showing she saw it. After a while it did. She was typing.
I'll call you in 5 (:
I stopped biting my thumbnail to respond.
Okay
I immediately started biting my nails again waiting for her to call. Five minutes passed and she wasn't calling. Maybe she didn't want to call me. I sighed at myself. I try to not let things like this get to me normally and here I am freaking out over small details. I laid back on my bed. I felt my phone vibrating. I shot up to my feet and answered the phone.
"Hey." I said rushed. I cringed.
"Hey, I don't have long to talk. I'm at a party."
"Oh." My true emotions were showing. Nick, Chris, and I don't drink or smoke. We are pretty chill. We go to parties but usually end up leaving when things get uncomfortable.
"It's a study party." She giggled.
"Oh." My voice raised with realization. "I just wanted to ask if you wanted to go out on a date."
"We already did." She laughed. I smiled at her little joke.
"I meant with me." I specified.
"I would love to Matt." She answered the question.
"Cool."
"I gotta go. I'll text you."
"Study hard." Her laugh was cut off by her hanging up. "Study hard? What the hell is wrong with me?" I said aloud to myself. I opened my door to find Nick and Chris right there.
"So, how did it go?" Chris pressed.
"I got a date."
"Let's go Matt." They jumped me and started hooting and hollering approval at me.
"Just gotta wait until she texts me now." I looked at my phone.
"What are you going to do in the meantime?" Chris asked me.
"I don't know. Wait I guess." I shrugged.
"You could study hard." Nick made fun of me.
"You heard that?" I smacked him.
"Hey, maybe you guys could "study" together." Chris put his joke in there with air quotes.
"I hate you both." We all laughed. Even though being a triplet was complicated at times it was nice always having the support from my two brothers. Having Chris' support meant a little more to me because of the current situation. I wasn't nervous about pursuing Aubrey but instead, I felt confident and excited.
