I have a question for you. A writing question.
Have you written most of sea salt and sun in advance? do you already know how it'll end? Are you set on how the story is supposed to go?
Or do you go with the flow, Biri-style?
Thanks so much for asking writing questions! I haven’t done any since the q a for my webcomic! First off, (I don't think this really is spoilers) the time-line of Sea Salt and Sun stretches over two years and yes, I know how it ends and everything is about taking the characters there naturally 😤 Before I started putting the story out, I had a lot of it outline with many scenes written. I was writing for myself, to experiment and get some of the story out of my head! (about 100k word at the time) When I chose to share it, I created a calendar for those two years and placed all the elements of the story I already to be sure there was a few good story beats. I update it each time I have an idea I want to add to the fic :) Then I outline 3 or 4 chapters to get a nice rythme for a "small arc" and decide what major scenes it will need. I write stuff for those chapters in a chaotic way - in multiple notes on my phones - before editing everything together.
But often, I write stuff way ahead because it calls for me 😉 (I'm around 300k words in my doc 😬 and a lot will need to be heavily edited)
My favourite thing about it is, because I have many fleshed out characters, they often take over scenes and the I have to deal with the consequences xD
#saraptor talks#my art#fanfic stuff#fanfic writing#i actually work like this for all my projects#But it’s a pretty standard way#I watched Alan Moore’s masterclass and he said it was good that your character got out of hand and I already knew#sea salt and sun
