I think in a way this is their first (semi) meeting, on their ninja school entrance ceremony.

Gai's little side-eye is so cute, looks like the first impression didn't go too well XD Also based on his body language I think Kakashi knew Obito beforehand?

Then I assume that in their academy era, they got chummy enough to greet each other, particularly Gai with his cheerful trademark.

Heaven knows what happened after they became genin but after they got assigned into teams Gai seemed to solely focus on Kakashi despite being on a different team while Obito saw Gai as intruder.

And apparently at some point Gai got all forgot about Obito?

But Gai is not the only one who commits that sin here like Obito in your perfect world do you have memory issue because of the boulder? Where's Gai? Iruka is not your classmate! you killed his parents btw

Also I think Obito had some petty beef with Gai because why you opted to take him out first before 2 Jinchuurikis and "Rin's killer"?

So looks like when Kakashi existed between Obito and Gai they greeted, they chatted, but when Kakashi was out of picture it was as if they had erased each other's presence from their world. I think even in their childhood those two emulate this meme.

Now I understand so much why lil Kakashi felt so tired around them. Kakashi is an introvert by nature and introvert's biggest nightmare is not only the idea of them around loud people. But especially being THE BUFFER.

I love them, they are so silly ahahah
