I’d like a Peter where he’s the ‘unaware he’s smart’ flavor of nerd. Like, he thinks he’s fairly average intelligence, and assumes most of the stuff he knows is more or less common knowledge.
Some mor context under the cut
This was inspired by my classmates. They were all freaking out about our exams, it was hectic, and our school newspaper had one of the cartoonists make a motivational comic.
I saw the comic and some synapses fired, I wanted to make a comic too XD And I wanted to try my hand at backgrounds, and it doesn’t look dreadful! It was very tedious to ink and color, especially the books, but over all, it wasn’t too bad.

Aliens: Resistance #1
Tumblr media
Aliens: Resistance #1 Dark Horse Comics 2019 Written by Brian Wood Illustrated by Robert Carey Coloured by Dan Jackson Lettered by Nate Piekos of Blambot      After the traumatic events of Alien: Isolation, Waylan-Yutani has blacklisted Amanda Ripley, and she has ranged far to get away from her past encounter with the xenomorphs. After Aliens: Defiance, Zula Hendricks has been living under the radar, keeping an eye on the activities of the malevolent megacorporation, waiting for her chance to expose it’s xenomorph weapons program. With Ripley’s help she will.      Brian should be in charge of writing the next Alien film’s screenplay I mean that’s all I’m saying, have you looked I mean really looked at the stories in this franchise he’s been putting out? This shit is freakin amazeballs man. I love the fact that this story features Ripley and Hendrick’s because while they may be the originals they are the latest in a line of strong willed women that know exactly what they are up against and deadly it can be to let the company continue to try and make bio-weapons out of the xenomorph DNA.        Also that this franchise is able to maintain fresh new stories that all tie into everything we have seen to date and then is the perfect way to keep the franchise fresh, alive and ultra-desirable at least for me. The way that this is structured is amazing to see. I think this is the first time I can recall actually seeing Earth in one of these stories and I have to say I’m kind of less than impressed and I couldn’t wait to get back out into space. Plus the population here would let one Queen rule the world, Who Runs the World-Girls, and while that might be a tad bit of to see the world take the piss it’s not really something I wanna see just yet.       As the series continues to grow, evolve and move forward we begin to see new developments such as the bullets used by this new generation of synthetics. While I am not entirely convinced that those were synthetics I guess we’ll just have to wait and see. If they are a new breed well they certainly are much more advanced than anything we’ve seen thus far and it kind of excites me with the prospect. The characterisation here is marvellous stuff and that the two of them, well three if you count nothing more than a personality chip, have never worked together before and have to learn about each other and learn to trust each other is already off to a great start.       I love the interiors here the linework is great and there is a whole lot of attention to detail going on here thanks to the way the varying weights are utilised. Aside from ships and what we see of the earth and it’s transportations and skyline, which is pretty damn stellar by the by, the people have such great distinct looks to them and then there’s the xenomorphs and new breed of synthetics that we see all conspire to stimulate the mind and imagination in the reader. The utilisation of the page layouts and how we see the angles and perspective in the panels shows of a magnificent eye for storytelling. The way that backgrounds are utilised here is sensational in how they expand the moments and bring a great sense of size and scope the story. The colour work too is wonderful and I love the pops of brightness here and there and how we see the overall mood, tone and feel it creates.       This is some stupendous writing as we see with the pacing, structure, story & plot development and characterisation alongside this damn good interior artwork. This is why we love to read all the various Alien stories that come out of Dark Horse.
