Tsugeura was harder to decide on than you might’ve guessed. Fighting types were the obvious choice, but since I’d given that to Kaji I second-guessed whether or not I wanted to have Tsugeura be a one-type trainer, too. But I really couldn’t think of anything else that suited him as well, so here we are!

Tsugeura’s collecting gym badges, but he’s not like Sakura or even Suo — he’s not trying to be Champion, he’s merely testing his strength against whatever gyms he comes across. He comes from a family of vitamin makers (and salespeople), and he’s on a journey to make everyone see the light about his family’s wares. And also to test the limits of himself and his Pokemon, as well as what they can achieve with a healthy dose of Protein. He spends a lot of time in dojos, but — somewhat surprisingly — in the mountainous region known for its hot springs. The rejuvenating effect is perfect for his training and it’s a great place to sell his products.

The notable addition to his team is Munchlax, which developed a taste for his Protein shakes and followed him for three towns to borrow (steal) from his pack before Tsugeura noticed. When he did, he happily invited Munchlax onto his team so it could share in his shakes whenever it wanted. Munchlax is actually a devoted participant of his daily training sessions, primarily because it means more shakes and other Protein-filled treats Tsugeura’s whipped up.

Sakura crossed paths with Sugeura early on, as the first gym challenge was reinvented as a double battle recently and neither of them had partners.
