Ark: Aberration Edition
Submitted by @saberamane
I’m back with the next ‘Ark Survival Evolved AC Edition’!
They have finally figured out the whole thing going on with ‘Scorched Earth’, defeat the Manticore (which Desmond is super bummed out that he couldn’t tame that thing, it was so cool), they ‘ascend’ again, and the new area they land in is horrible. But also pretty cool. Desmond loves all the bio luminescent creatures to be found on ‘Aberration’.
(Just a note, they all have a Rock Drake, so it won’t be listed with their other tames.)
Desmond:
Aberrant Carno
Aberrant Equus
1 Ravager (She’s more ‘pet’ than ‘tame’, she’s pretty but not ‘high level’ so she stays at base. Basically she’s an event color dino.)
Basilisk
Seeker (non-tameable, but it’s Desmond. He wanted the little eldritch flying creature, so he got it.)
Reaper King (Of course)
Shoulder Pet: Bulbdog (He finds it right away and needed it. It’s one of those ‘it’s so ugly it’s cute’ scenarios.)
Altair:
Aberrant Otter
Aberrant Purlovia
Aberrant Pulmonoscorpius
Aberrant Parasaur
Karkinos
Aberrant Megalosaurus
Shoulder Pet: Shinehorn (I just enjoy the thought of Altair having an adorable little goat on his shoulder all the time.)
Ezio:
Aberrant Ovis
Aberrant Spino
Aberrant Paracer
Aberrant Doedicurus
Roll Rat
Aberrant Baryonyx
Shoulder Pet: Featherlight (It reminds him of Petruccio, and all the feathers he used to collect for his little brother. Needless to say, anything so much as looks at this featherlight wrong dies.)
Ratonhnhaké:ton:
Aberrant Megalania
Aberrant Iguanodon
Aberrant Direbear
Pack of Aberrant Raptor’s
Pack of Ravagers
Aberrant Sarco
Shoulder Pet: Glowtail (They are noted as having the quickest recharge of their light of all ‘glow pets’, which would greatly benefit Ratonhnhaké:ton as he’s typically the ‘hunter’)
=========================
Additions by teecup:
The Ark Survival Evolved AU idea (this one and this one too)
Tames for The Island Ark
Tames for the Scorched Earth Ark
At this point, they have all agreed to just let Desmond do whatever thing he does and they don’t even bat an eye anymore if Desmond returns with some kind of monster/animal that shouldn’t be tameable. At some point, it’s become a running joke about what next untameable beast Desmond would return with. Altaïr is currently winning with his suggestion of “God” and the deadpan way he stated it and the fact that they all know he’s an atheist makes it all the more funnier and it’s really hard to top that one.
(All of their Rock Drakes have the same ‘nest’ and a few months later, they learned that one of them laid an egg and they’re not entirely sure which one it is?)
Desmond:
His Abberant Carno is named Rex The Second because, according to him, Rex Two sounds a bit ‘sad’.
His Equus is usually used for patrols nearby.
His Ravager follows him around the base and likes to get pets but doesn’t like it when others try to pet him. He actually just followed Desmond into the base and just… never left.
His Basilisk is a jerk. He likes to burrow deep underneath the ground then pop out whenever someone passed by. Nobody gets surprised anyway since the Basilisk glows as light blue in their Eagle Vision but still… jerk move. But he mostly accompanies Desmond whenever he goes out because it’s a good companion for taming other monsters/beasts.
Altaïr had researched on the Seekers before to check if they could be tamed and, if not, what’s the best way to take them own, and that’s how he theorized that the reason why Desmond got a Seeker is because it sees Desmond as a light source. His Seeker is always energetic and acts the same way wild Seekers would act whenever they are near light sources like a Bulbdog which earns Desmond the nickname “Our very own Bulbdog”
Oh god. Oh my god. Are we saying that Desmond got impregnated by a female Reaper since that’s the only way to get a Reaper ingame? Are we going for that? Because I hella am in for that! Just imagine Altaïr checking Desmond after an encounter with a Ravager Queen that left him alive and him gravely saying, “You’re… pregnant.” and everyone just stares at Desmond and Desmond is like “It’s not like that! Oh my god, no!” In the end, Desmond ‘shoots’ out the baby Reaper and takes care of it like… I guess a child of his own (oh man, the angst that will happen when they leave this Ark and have to leave the Reaper behind, yeeesss)
Desmond likes to keep the Bulbdog with him always and its deathly afraid of the Seeker but the Seeker just ignores it and goes for Desmond every time.
Altaïr:
Altaïr’s Otter mostly does whatever it wants but he serves mostly as Altaïr’s assistant, bringing him tools or holding things for Altaïr while he’s busy with his current project.
His Purlovia primarily just lazes around in his workshop but he always likes to burrow all over and is sorta maybe best friends with Desmond’s Basilisk? Or maybe they’re burrowing rivals, no one is really sure.
His Pulmonoscorpius usually accompanies him whenever he’s away from their base as it’s a good bodyguard and its poison can be used to weaken or tamed any beast that catches his fancy (and the poison is also used for some of his creations). He got his Pulmonoscorpius from a cave too so he uses that as a mount whenever he goes to a cave so other monsters/beasts won’t be alerted.
His Parasaur loves to gather berries. No one knows why but he just lets him do what he wants since Parasaur also warns them of any dangers near their base that he sees during his berry picking.
What his Karkinos lacks in speed, he makes up with his sheer utility. If his Otter is his assistant in the base, the Karkinos is his assistant when out in the wilds and there have been many encounters that ended in their favor thanks to him.
No, Desmond, this Megalosaurus will not be named Megalosaurus the Second. No. Megalosaurus Junior is also out of the question. Stop it.
Shinehorn is a good lightsource. That’s the reason why he’s on Altaïr’s shoulder. Yup. That’s the only reason why. No, the fact that Desmond had been the one to give it to him had nothing to do with Altaïr’s preferential treatment to the damn goat.
Ezio:
To continue with the whole ‘naming farm creatures’, these herd of Ovis have a Haytham, an Abbas (the one that always tries to chew Altaïr’s robes) and a Lucy (named after Lucrezia Borgia or so Desmond says)
His Spino mainly patrols all of Ezio’s other tames and he actually let Desmond name it Spino the Second.
His Paracer served as their first base actually while they were looking for a good place to ‘settle down’ as Desmond likes to call it. He’s their oldest tame and he mainly just lounges in the base as a reward for having to deal with all the shenanigans the group had to go thru while he served as their mobile base.
Doedicurus likes to roll around and, really, Ezio enjoys watching his Doedicurus roll around to beat the crap of any creature that tries any funny business.
Roll Rat was used to help build their base, mostly by rolling onto obstacles to destroy them. Now, he’s mainly used to harvest wood and mushrooms. Hell, he and Parasaur sometimes return at the same time filled with berries they have collected. Desmond called it berry-bonding.
Baryonyx is Ezio’s primary companion when he goes outside and also their main source of underwater resources.
Featherlight is nicknamed ‘asfoor’ which means little sparrow and Ezio has a soft spot for it. He once gifted Desmond one of the feather that had fallen from the Featherlight and Desmond is the only person who understands how much the little creature reminds Ezio of his family (not just Petruccio but Maria Auditore as well)
Ratonhnhaké:ton
Megalania is always almost on walls or ceilings and helps by ambushing hostile creatures while they’re focused on Ratonhnhaké:ton and his ‘main force’.
Iguanodon usually helps with farming and gathering resources in the base but he’s important when Ratonhnhaké:ton leaves for long periods of time as he helps hunt food and resources they may need in the wild (like poison that Ratonhnhaké:ton can use to craft items)
Ratonhnhaké:ton refused to call his new Dire Bear Dire Bear The Second because that he felt like he was comparing it to his previous Dire Bear. He did agree to naming it Teddy Bear though. (he doesn’t know what teddybear actually means)
His main force is composed of a pack of Aberrant Raptors that all have names and Ratonhnhaké:ton can distinguish each of them with a glance. They’re very well coordinated with the ambush tactics of the Megalania and like to corral their enemies to where the Magalania is waiting to pounce them.
The pack of Ravagers is actually the children of the Ravager that followed Desmond to their base. Every time they’re in the base, they stay with their mother (which means Desmond takes care of them). They’re very energetic and the Raptors actually usually have to corral them to stay in formation.
Sarco is Ratonhnhaké:ton’s preferred mount whenever there is a need to dive somewhere.
Glowtail prefers to wrap around Ratonhnhaké:ton neck and sometimes around the crown of his head.

Heatwave
Hey folks. Thought I’d hammer out a story for everyone real quick, what with the lack of activity and all. This is yet another short set in the modern setting of the world of Deaco, about two pals trying to cope with the worst summer has to offer. This one’s got some Mood Music! Not the mood of the setting per se, but rather the music coming from the TV as the two play the game.
This was definitely not inspired by any personal events, and the video game described is absolutely NOT just a ripoff of Earth Defense Force. Short below the cut.
This is also a bit of an exercise to get back into writing from scratch. I haven’t done much more than edit and rewrite recently.
“For the love of God…”
Michael wiped another sheen of sweat from his forehead, moving it onto his plain white t-shirt, which was already soaked. The young man was sitting in a bedroom, on the floor in front of a large TV. His hair was mopped with sweat, and his eyes were narrowed as he focused on the TV.
The clicking of buttons became louder as he desperately tried to keep up with the challenge in the game. On the screen of the television, two human soldiers with assault rifles and rocket launchers were running through a city, fighting off hordes of dragons and kobolds. Gunfire, explosions and screaming filled the otherwise quiet room.
Beside Michael, a koutu lay in his bed, eyes glazed over. The bird was patterned after a kestrel, with plumage of varying shades of orange, white, black and brown. This was Yawel. Although he looked half-dead, he too was holding a controller, being the other player of this split-screen game of Deacan Defense Force.
There was a third player, but they were found online. The pair were the only ones in the room at the moment. The online player had been cut off and surrounded by a giant horde and was losing health quickly.
“Help me!”
One of the shoutouts available to players, the stranger looked to be near death as his character cried out for aid.
“I’m on my way!”
Michael picked the option from the list of shoutouts and began sprinting through crowds of kobolds, only stopping to turn and fire a few rockets on the way to thin out the hordes.
Yawel groaned audibly, slumped over on his back and lying sideways on his bed. He still looked like he was in a stupor, and Michael could hardly blame him.
The heatwave that had torn through the continent had been especially brutal in the hottest months of summer, and now temperatures were well over a hundred degrees. Normally, this wouldn’t be a problem, as the friends had an air conditioner in their bedroom.
Of course, that’s why it just had to break.
The pair had been such good friends throughout their school years that once they graduated, they decided to move out and become roommates. Logic stated that as long as they both had jobs and shared accommodations, they’d save money.
They did of course, but finding work had been pretty tough as of late. Both of them were only able to land jobs as grocers for the time being, so there wasn’t much left over they could afford to waste. That was why they had to share only one air conditioner, and why it was left in the bedroom so that they could keep cool while they played video games.
Now, without that AC, the temperature in the normally comfortable bedroom was bordering on unsafe.
“How about you save ME?” Yawel muttered, barely able to keep playing.
“Huh? You’re good,” Michael responded plainly, continuing to run towards the other player, fighting his way to where the stranger was making their last stand.
“Good?! You call this GOOD?!” the koutu squawked, “I feel like a turkey in the oven!”
A plume of fire swept across the map as one of the dragons attacked the other player. His character let out a wail as he collapsed, last of his health gone.
“Oh, I thought you meant...nevermind. Just hang on, I gotta revive this guy.”
“Aaah, God...how does Rangal live like this?! Shaggy bastard would die!”
A wolfman the pair knew. The three of them were good friends. He lived on the bare essentials. His house lacked many luxuries...including air and heating.
“I actually texted him. He’s in the tub with cold water. That’s how he manages the summers apparently.”
Yawel shook his head. “Nutty. Dunno why he doesn’t just spring for an AC.”
A ping from the game let everyone know Michael had successfully revived the other player. His character was a sallik, one of the lizardmen from the desert land of the far south.
Bet he’s doing just fine in this heat, Michael thought jealously.
Of course he could have just picked a sallik, but Michael tended to assume people picked their actual race when they created characters in these kind of games.
The fact that Yawel played as a human threw that theory for a bit of a loop. He’d always secretly wondered why that was, but ended up deciding he probably liked the stat bonuses better or something.
“I owe you!” the other player shouted, now back on their feet. Michael smirked and opened the quick chat again.
“No man left behind!”
The ingame radio blared to live with a burst of static.
“Where are the fighters?!” a commander shouted in frustration, “They’re getting chewed up out there!”
“The air force has been intercepted by dragons,” an officer explained, “We’re trying to slip a force through, but it’s gonna take some time.”
“God, damn it!” the commander cried, “Thunder Team! The jets are tied down dogfighting the dragons. You have to hold on a little longer! Stay strong!”
“Are you kidding?!” Yawel croaked, “It’s really not over?!”
Neither of them had gotten this far yet. This mission was so difficult that they’d abandoned their initial goal of beating it together and set up an online lobby to get more players.
Between the blistering heat and knowledge that this length mission still had time to go, Michael felt some resolve sapped from him. “Oh God...this really sucks…”
All the while, the trio were blasting and shooting their way through more hordes of dragons, desperately diving and running behind a new building when the last one got destroyed.
“Where the hell’s Ginit?” Yawel asked, “I’m dying…”
“Should be here really soon,” the human answered.
Ginit was a pseudodragon local to town. She, like most pseudodragons, loved to go around helping out where she could. When the air conditioner broke and the temperature inside quickly leaped into the hundreds, Michael texted a friend of hers and told them his plight.
He thought with her knowing all kinds of magic that there was something she could do. The friend only vaguely answered back that Ginit could help and she’d come over right after she was done delivering a package for someone.
Pseudodragons were natural couriers, with their instinctive spark of joy, desire to help, and ability of flight. Ginit was no different.
“Hopefully she’s done soon,” Michael said with a sigh. The heat was so bad he could swear he saw the air waving in front of the TV slightly.
“Ugghhh...save us…” the koutu grumbled.
Michael wiped another bunch of sweat from his face, some of it sticking to the controller. He made a mental note to wipe the thing down later.
The entire area seemed to radiate heat, and they didn’t have any substitutes for the air conditioner.
“Next paycheck,” the human offered, “We gotta get a fan.”
“Faaaaan? You think a faaaaaan can help with this?”
“Better than nothing.”
“Whatever. I hate this. Once this mission’s over I’m done.”
Michael frowned. “Come on man, I wanna beat the story.” “Naaaaaaw. I’m followin’ ol’ furbutt’s lead and napping in the baaaaaaath.”
The human felt a pang of pity. Poor Yawel sounded delirious, slurring his words with his eyes half closed. The heat must have been even worse with feathers or fur...maybe he was lucky after all…
“Alright man, you do you. Just hang tough for this level, alright?”
“Alright.”
The muted reply made Michael feel even worse. Yawel sounded...defeated. Like he was just doing this because he wanted to help his friend.
“We’re nearly there. I bet this is the last wave.”
The soldiers, two human and one lizard, gathered up and began shooting at the massive swarm of dragons in the sky. As the behemoths flew at them, dozens and dozens of kobolds rushed through the city streets right at them.
In the game, there were so many hordes. Shots and fire were sent the defenders’ way as the sheer volume of creatures overwhelmed them. There were so many the game could barely keep up, dropping frames every second.
“No way. They don’t really expect us to do this, right?!” Michael complained as he lost half his health in a few moments.
Yawel’s soldier fell over dead, hit by dozens of shots from several different angles. He dropped the controller on the bed and sighed.
“It’s impossible.”
“We’re so close...we can’t lose now…”
Just as the human mumbled that, there was a sudden roar overhead. A group of stealth bombers flew by, dropping countless explosive warheads right into the center of the crowded horde of enemies.
Inspiring music began to swell as a massive portion of the enemy army was wiped out immediately. Another soldier came onto the radio.
“Hey there, Thunder Team! Thought we’d drop by and give you a hand.”
“This is Valor Two, entering mission area. We’ll cover you!” another voice called out. As jet fighters began to do strafing runs against the enemies, a fresh squad of AI soldiers moved into the map to reinforce the players.
As all of this was happening, the pair heard a knocking sound behind them. Michael shot up, eyes moving to curtains at the back of the room.
“O-oh, shit, hang on…”
Michael quickly revived Yawel before leaping up and running to the curtains, drawing them away and revealing a massive pair of windows.
Such oversized windows wouldn’t be considered proper for their humble home, especially for their bedroom of all places...but there was a really good reason why they were this way.
So the pseudodragon behind them could get through.
Ginit leaned against the window, the copper-scaled dragon’s snout pressed against the glass as she grinned at the human.
He threw the windows open without a moment's hesitation, returning a grin of his own.
“Michael! Yawel!”
“Ginit!” the human exclaimed, “You’re here!”
“Yes I am!” she beamed, “May I?”
“Please, please, come in!”
The human moved back to his position in front of the TV, sitting down and returning to the game. He didn’t want to be rude to the other player by abandoning them, after all.
“I heard you have AC troubles,” she teased in a sing-song voice. The pseudodragon hopped into the room and jumped onto a plush chair, laying down with her tail hanging over the edge and coming down to the floor.
“Please,” Yawel muttered, “Help us…”
“You can do something about this, right?” Michael asked with a hint of desperation.
“I sure can! Tell me, how long until this issue is resolved?”
“The repairman can’t come until tomorrow,” Michael admitted, “It’s gonna be hell.”
“Not anymore! Check this out…”
Ginit willed out the magic flowing through her, until it filled the room. In a flash, something in the air changed. At first, Michael couldn’t tell what it was, until he noticed something peculiar.
“...it’s getting cooler.”
The temperature kept dropping, and dropping, until it felt downright cold, like the AC was on full blast.
“A-ah, God. It’s so cool…”
Yawel seemed to spring back to life, eyes shooting wide open as he took a deep breath.
“I-it’s amazing! Ginit, what are you doing?!”
“Just a little spell that lets me control the temperature around me!” the pseudodragon said with a big smile, “Now it’s like you don’t even need the air conditioner!”
A loud explosion signaled the death of the last dragon, the city in the game now completely free of enemies. The players all spammed chat commands as the mission complete screen popped up.
“DDF! DDF!”
“We did it!”
“Great work!”
All the soldiers cheered and celebrated as the harrowing mission at last came to a close. Now Michael and Yawin could finally continue with the campaign.
The game was over, and the trio sitting in the room basked in the coolness of the air. Michael said goodbye to the other player and turned the game off. He closed the windows and sat back down.
For the next hour or so, they could just relax. Get all that sweat and heat off and gone while they recovered from the heatwave.
Yawel looked over at Ginit. “Hey...how long can you stay?”
“You said the repairman will come tomorrow, right?”
“That’s right.”
“Well then...I’ll stay the night! Until it’s all fixed up!”
“W-what?!”
“Yeah! It’s been too long since we’ve met, anyway! I’ve been looking forward to spending some time with my friends!”
Michael smiled. “Ah, hell. You’re a lifesaver, Ginit.”
“Don’t mention it!”
For the rest of the day, and into the night, the blistering heatwave was but a faint memory. The trio talked, ate and laughed, swapping tall tales and playing guessing games together.
For a moment, all the troubles of the world ceased. There was only home, comfort, and the unbroken bonds of friendship forged to last a lifetime.

Rune Factory Headcanons: Dolce And Pico
I’m gonna start rambling ideas and stuff because I LOVE THIS GAME! They’ll probably all be super long posts but its slightly less long if I split them up by character, at least. So.. woooo, lets go!!
* I’ve only played through the female protagonist route so far so I dont know everything about Dolce yet, apologies if I get anything wrong. * Does anyone else find it odd that she’s the only one who doesn’t really have any monster traits, out of the guardians? I mean, her monster form was humanoid but it still was a monster. I would have assumed she’d at least keep the blue skintone or something. So my headcanon is that she does still have some monster powers like everyone else, even if her design doesnt show it as much. I think maybe it’d be cool if she was still kinda marionettelike? Like her skin is abnormally cold and she doesnt have a heartbeat. Maybe she keeps her fangs? Gets mad when people mistake her for a vampire! And I dunno, maybe she can still levitate a little. Her and Pico have even more in common now! * or I dunno, maybe she wasn’t an elf before she became a guardian, and her long ears are meant to be her monster trait? * A thought: since its said that Pico ‘scans’ outfits she sees and can wear them even though she’s a ghost, maybe her current outfit is her cosplaying Marionetta? or maybe when Dolce became Marionetta she became a monster form similar to Pico because they’re BFFs? * I know the game doesn’t really focus on it, but I think it must have been especially sad for Pico to remain awake for the entire time Dolce was sleeping as Marionetta, waiting to find an Earthmate who could free her friend. Pico’s such a goofball that she probably wouldnt admit it, but I feel like she’s so over-the-top with her love for Dolce nowadays because she missed her so much. And it could have been an interesting Town Event to deal with, actually! Like, Dolce noticing Pico is acting weird because from her perspective she was just asleep for a moment but for Pico its been so long that its like she cant even remember how she used to act around her best friend. Maybe having to rebuild their relationship a little before Pico starts being her goofy prankster self again, instead of just starting off that way? * Also I like to headcanon that Marionetta’s marionette strings (called Handetta in the monster book) are actually a separate creature. I like the idea I came up with of that being Pico using her ghost powers to try and restrain her monsterified friend, but being dragged around cos she’s not strong enough. * A possible other idea for ‘what if pico got a bigger role and her own series of Town Events’, maybe Pico feeling guilty that some part of her is secretly happy that Dolce is a monster too now, and they’ve been able to stay together for centuries longer than she expected. No matter how much tragedy happened, its still good that she hasnt had to watch her friend die yet, and that she gets to see dolce find a new family. But still someday she WILL die, and maybe Pico is now worried she might make the same mistakes Dolce did when Ventuswill was dying. I think thats the only reason Pico could have possibly had for not being angry at Dolce for running off and becoming a guardian without her, she knows she would have become a guardian to save Dolce if it was her in danger. Well, that and its hard to be angry when you’re seeing someone for the first time after hundreds of years! * Possibly there could have been an event of Pico getting jealous of you getting romantically involved with Dolce? I mean, i know the game likes to be a buttface and have everyone acting incredibly gay yet nobody is allowed to be canonically gay, but am I allowed to just headcanon that Pico is? Well, mostly cos her being all pervy jokes to Dolce would be creepy pseudo-incest if theyre supposed to be ‘like sisters’. I totally headcanon that its a situation where like... childhood friend love, but unrequited. Alas Dolce doesnt feel the same way, and Pico respects that and tries to joke around to make things less awkward. So she’s totally a supportive shipper of you X Dolce after the lil jealousy plotline is resolved, she just wants Dolce to be happy. * This is why I really wish Pico was a marriage option!! Well, that and she’s a ‘really older than she looks’ character that doesnt actually ACT like a child. I always felt uncomfortable on amber and kiel’s romance routes cos they both look and act like theyre too young to date you. if the game had to have a weirdly youthful looking character of ambiguous age, it coulda at least been the funny ghost who acts like a pervy teen! Also i just feel bad that the player steals Dolce from her, even if she doesnt have a crush on Dolce its still stealing Dolce from her since Pico is haunting her and Dolce is the only person who can touch her. They’d be spending a lot less time together if you get married, Pico would have to be floating off in another room reading a book all the time while you’re on dates or doing the do. She doesnt even have the courtesy of being able to go particularly far away and find something else to distract her :P * Alternative solution that would have also been good: if you could have a romance bar for Pico and then be able to have a polyamorous marriage with both her and Dolce! * Alternative alternative solution: if you could choose to romance just Pico instead, and maybe she’s able to transfer over to haunting you instead once you fall in love, which also makes you able to kiss and stuff. ^_^ * Though it would probably be very sad for Dolce cos if she’s been living together with Pico since they were both children it would take a long time to get used to being alone. * Also! Some headcanons potentially for Pico’s aliveness and how they met and stuff! We only hear ingame that Pico was haunting the house Dolce’s family moved into, and they were together ‘since we were babies’. I dunno, I think I’m gonna try and pretend that’s a translation mistake because personally I’d feel it would be hard to imagine they WEREN’T raised as sisters if Pico was haunting the house since that early on. it would be rather more uncomfortable that Pico makes pervy jokes about dating someone who was literally raised as her sister. * Anyway, bunni’s undeveloped possible headcanon for alive-Pico! I was thinking possibly if she’s a ghost and she died at such a young age, she must have come back because she died super tragically, right?? Maybe her family was wiped out by the Sechs empire like Doug’s tribe was? Or maybe she somehow died in some way that gave her reason to hate Dolce’s family, which is why she started haunting their young daughter in particular. Like, her father’s dying breath was cursing this family’s unborn child, and his daughter’s ghost tried to follow that wish. So she started off pulling pranks on Dolce out of actual malice, but ended up becoming her closest childhood friend instead and growing to abandon that grudge. I’m thinking since Dolce (at least probably) is an elf and we cant see pico’s ears to tell what she was in life, maybe she was a human or a dwarf or some other race that had a conflict with elves at the time? or maybe just her family lived in the same town as dolce’s family and they were romeo and juliet style rival clans who would wish revenge upon each other’s descendants like that. Anyway I need to develop the idea but I like this as a fanfic plot, that maybe there’s some reason they werent friends at first and there’s a plotline of how Pico became so devoted to her that she’d wait centuries guarding Marionetta. (Seriously I am so emotional over that) * Also its never really expanded upon but its implied maybe Dolce became Pico’s haunting target because she had some latent spiritual power or something...? When they briefly describe how they were friends since Dolce was a kid, it says about how Dolce could see her and touch her even before anyone else could. Which is curious cos it implies some stuff about how the possession works! So Pico wasn’t always ‘attatched’ to Dolce like this? She wasn’t always able to be seen by other people? Maybe she started off ‘attatched’ to the mansion itself and like... ghosts work in a way that they have to possess a human because they have no power otherwise? Or maybe the only other way of gaining power is to go mad, and become one of the undead-category monsters that dont seem able to speak or take humanoid forms like pico. Its a bit confusing cos some of them are called ghosts and some are called spirits instead, and some are called both depending on which menu description you read... * I’m just very upset that they introduced ghosts as a race in the rune factory series and they never explained anything about them or gave the one ghost character a romance route :P Maybe thats why I’m weirdly more interested in Pico’s backstory than Dolce’s?
