Six sketch sunday

I actually have something pretty exciting to share if i do say so myself!

In november 2022 i did a master study of romeo and juliet by frank bernard dicksee. I was very happy with it. But over time I’ve become less and less happy with it, specifically how baz looks :((

This is due to the fact that i traced A LOT in late 2022 (I was 15 ok, I’m sure we’ve all had one of those phases😭) I traced the whole painting, but baz was hard bc the original painting featured a woman, and her whole figure was covered by a white loose dress. 2022 me did their best interpreting the shapes and forming a new body for baz, but honestly they didn’t do it very well. Ive hated Baz’s face and body for a while now, but still loved simon and the painting in general. Which is why I came to the conclusion that for me to be at peace and happy with it again, I have to remaster it!

And again I’ve had this on my mind for a while now, mulling it over, because it’s quite a big project. But 7 days ago i finalized my decision and started looking at references and whatnot. It took me so long to find references bc I was confused of the angle of Juliet’s head in the original painting (so I’ve changed the angle whoops) and i needed to make sense of it all. Before i knew it i had spent 5 hours (according to procreates tracker) drawing, and literally nothing had changed.. but then i spent like 2 hours more and THAT did it. It was like digging a whole in the ground searching for water. You dig a little and nothing happens, and when you finally dig deep enough the water reveals itself like a goldmine.

Anyways, i haven’t gotten around to do any recoloring yet, so ill show you the sketch (ahem, traced) of my 2022 version versus what I have now

I’m trying to incorporate a lot more body language from baz this time around. I think the old sketch of baz was very rigid. His torso is very short 💀 my biggest issue was his face though. It was far too feminine. The bone structure wasn’t exactly giving baz, in fact the whole face didn’t look like baz to me. The expression also bothered me, it was too superficial. Like it’s exactly the predictable expression you expect him to have. I tried to spice it up in the new version by making him appear a bit more anguished. It’s romeo and juliet after all.

Im currently looking at references to what clothes he should be wearing (don’t worry, i wont cover up his sleeves. Even if it’s more time period accurate) so if y’all have any inspo or suggestions, feel free to share them with me!

While baz is the inly thing getting completely redone, I’m also touching up some other thins. Just giving it a more refined, finished look overall. The plants in the original were really messily done, so i’m gonna work a lot on those. 2022 me also slacked on the curtains, so I’m repainting those to match the original frank bernard painting.

Once I’m done with it all i think i might sell some prints. Ive gotten requests to sell prints of this one before, but never really got around to do more than research. If i do make prints, I’m a bit worried they’ll all go to waste bc they’ll have to be shipped from denmark, and shipping in expensive :(( (I’ve tried to set up middlemen and it didn’t work for me. Red bubble wont even allow me to add a credit card😬) but if y’all are still interested in prints, do let me know! Ill definitely put in more of an effort to make it happen if i know it wont be in vain :))

Berry Home Series: Mint Main pt. 2

Here’s part 2 of the Berry Home Series: Mint Main. 

This is mainly the second floor of the Mint Berry Family home, minus the office which didn’t fit in the previous post. She purchased a stripped down version of Plateau Place in LilSimsie’s save file. So I can’t take credit for any landscaping or the basic floor plan. I recolored most of the exterior to fit the theme, but that’s about it.

90% of my CC comes from Peacemaker, Harrie, Felixandre & their combo Harlix, with various items from RVSN (main one is the family portrait). But I’m sure there’s other CC mixed in as well. But those are my main build CC with things like portraits, rugs, curtains, pillows, plants, etc. that are usually one off downloads. If there’s anything you see, feel free to ask and I’ll do my best to get you the CC Creator.

So because I realized that your sims can’t own the residential lots in the university hoods in sims 2 (which is making me so sad ....D___:), I decided that I should rewrite the origin story of this hood. But well, while I was brainstorming I was looking at some old pictures of the uni (I was almost ready to start to destroy everything, but after seeing these photos I changed my mind) and I like them :3 ...They’re kind of random tho :D Also I wish there was more recolors of those curtains :D I need to learn how to do some recolors!!

Okay since I have two questions about patterns I’ll just clump this into one:

- Sundance was made using patterns from Spoonflower and another user got some flak for it, they made some good points and I will not be using them for patterns in the future. I will also not be sharing those patterns.

- All other recolors have been made using patterns from Freepik Premium (I’m not sure if you can find the patterns I’ve used for free fyi) and no, I will not be sharing those either.

I should add: I hope this didn’t come off as cold or bitchy, I originally put it off because I didn’t know how to answer it.

3 Earths! 3 Deaths!

CRISIS ON INFINITE EARTHS #6 SEPTEMBER 1985 BY MARV WOLFMAN, GEORGE PEREZ, JERRY ORDWAY, ANTHONY TOLLIN AND TOM MCGRAW (RECOLORED VERSION)

SYNOPSIS (FROM DC DATABASE)

In his lair, the Anti-Monitor stands over the Flash, who has begun to recover from Psycho-Pirate's spell of fear. The villain declares that when the Monitor's remaining energies fade, which now protect Earth-One and 2, the ultimate power will be his. As promised, he imbues the Pirate with enough power to control the emotions of the people on three Earths. This will counter the Monitor's plan to save those worlds with the aid of super-beings from Earth-One and Earth-2.

Back on the satellite, the heroes are trying to save themselves while their shelter falls apart. Pariah disappears, drawn to a new disaster. Alex hooks himself to one of the machines, to draw Earths 4, S, and X into the Monitor's netherverse. Harbinger knocks him unconscious to prevent his sacrifice, then she enters the power-well at the center of the satellite, moments before the satellite blows apart. On Earth-2, the Atom carries Wildcat to a bed in an apartment. Wildcat, in pain from his shattered legs, moans that he was useless before, and now he is helpless. Atom replies that Ted Grant gave Al Pratt lots of inspiration, not only by being a champion prizefighter, but by struggling to live in a hard and cruel world. He urges Wildcat not to let AI Pratt, or himself, down. Outside, clinging to the windowsill, is Yolanda Montez. She mourns for Ted, vowing that a new Wildcat will live in his honor. On Earth-One, Lex Luthor, fleeing from Superman, is transported to Brainiac's ship. Luthor is surprised, never having seen Brainiac in his robotic form. The living computer reveals a plan to make them rulers of the universe.

On Earth-X, Steel, Northwind, Dr. Light, Starfire, and Hawkman of Earth-2 are suddenly teleported to a rooftop near where the anti-matter is devastating the city. Then they see a giant figure of Harbinger within the curtain of anti-matter. On the street below they see a crowd of humans running directly for the curtain. Northwind streaks down, but is blasted by the Ray, who reveals himself, along with the other Freedom Fighters. Hawkman goes to Northwind's aid but is pummelled by the Black Condor, who, like his fellows, is entranced into thinking that the costumed newcomers are foes. Dr. Light stops the people from reaching the curtain by erecting a barricade of light-energy, before the Ray blasts her. She is caught safely by Hawkman. In the anti-matter universe of the Anti-Monitor, the Psycho-Pirate, controlling the emotions of the populations of Earths X, S, and 4, begs his master to let him stop, as the strain is killing him. However, the Anti-Monitor replies that once he had yearned for a world to mold, and now he has three.

On Earth-Four, Azrael, Flash of Earth-2, Blok, Katana, and J'onn J'onzz materialize before an anti-matter curtain in the American Midwest. They too see Harbinger's image amidst the anti-matter, and overhead is the descending bug-ship of the Blue Beetle. Azrael is blasted to the ground by an entranced Captain Atom. Peacemaker and Nightshade appear nearby. Katana is thrown for a loss in her first encounter with Judomaster, displaced from his own era of World War II. The Blue Beetle and the Question realize that they are being forced to attack the heroes, but know that they are helpless to do anything about it. On the merging Earths 1 and 2, the Atlantis of Arion's time now exists above the waves, while the underwater Atlantean cities of Tritonis and Poseidonis have been transplanted to a future Earth. Lori Lemaris, Aquaman, Aqua-lad, and Aquagirl are unable to locate their homes. Aqua-man takes off on a tangent, searching for Mera. His movements are observed by Ocean Master, Black Manta, and Dolphin, who sees the two villains disappear.

On Earth-S, Black Canary watches Changeling, in elephant-form, being thrown through a wall, while Supergirl flies down from above. The three Earth-One heroes are then attacked by Captain Marvel, who has been manipulated into fighting them. Supergirl holds him off, and tries to reason with him, but the World's Mightiest Mortal will not listen, and nearly buries them by knocking down a building. Black Canary deduces that the Psycho-Pirate, of her mother's Earth, must be controlling Captain Marvel, and then notices that the people of Earth-S, running toward the anti-matter curtain, as did their counterparts on Earths X and 4, have been stopped by a crystal barrier erected by Kole. Here too, Harbinger's image can be seen within the anti-matter. Wonder Woman of Earth-One is almost overwhelmed by Captain Marvel, Jr. and Mary Marvel, before Black Canary's sonic blast incapacitates the Earth-S heroes. Changeling, as a boa constrictor, has managed to tie up Uncle Marvel. On Earth-X, Steel is preventing people from destroying themselves in the anti-matter. On Earth-Four, Katana, Blok, and J'onn J'onzz have stalemated the Blue Beetle, Judomaster, and Question. Harbinger, existing simultaneously in Earths S, X, and 4, suddenly draws their universes away from the anti-matter and pulls them through her focused image.

In the lair of the Anti-Monitor, the Pirate suffers feedback from losing control over the populaces of three Earths. In the netherverse created from the being of the deceased Monitor, Harbinger now accomplishes the incredible task of linking Earths S, X, and 4 with the merging Earths 1 and 2. In doing so, Harbinger ceases to exist; she reverts to the identity of Lyla, dazed, standing on an asteroid beside Alex. He marvels that she had sacrificed so much to save three universes; she replies that she hadn't sacrificed everything -— the Monitor did, while she is still alive. But their job is still not finished. The five worlds, all separated by different vibratory rates, are slowing to synchronization... and at that point, they will destroy each other. The immediate problem, however, Alex notes, is getting off the asteroid. On Earth-2, Power Girl, Green Lantern, and Johnny Quick, in pursuit of Star Sapphire, Deathbolt, and Per Degaton, see their quarry disappear without a trace. In the apartment where he was taken to, Ted Grant sleeps. A figure stands over him for a moment, proclaiming that the world still needs a Wildcat, and will have one. In space, Lyla reassures Alex that the Monitor had seen a special destiny in the crisis for him. On Earth-2, Yolanda Montez takes to the rooftops as the new Wildcat.

REVIEW

The five remaining universes are now safe, for a little while. But in the following issues we will experience great losses. Losses that made this story important (until DiDio decided to undo things).

It feels different reading the tie-ins. I read this story many times, but most panels were kind of lost on me without the context. Now I see the small details that demonstrate there was a high level of coordination. It just happened with a delay of a few months. As such, this really feels like a story that should be read with tie-ins. Of course, you are not really losing important things if you don’t. But things like Yolanda becoming Wildcat is too out of place if you never read Infinity Inc. A title that is becoming crowdy with legacy heroes with good reason, the JSA is being retired after this story.

At the same time, I cannot really recommend the tie-ins that much. It is a different experience, but in some cases, the impact is almost nonexistent.

We are halfway there.

It’s been a while, hasn’t it?

Antonio’s Pizzeria and Heirloom Bridal is marked as “Visitors Allowed”. No special function comes from the lot itself, but there is still a ton to do here, especially if you make use of some of the mods that have come out since the Cottonwood Hills world was completed.

Like with the pub and boutique lot, I’ve provided separate spreadsheets for each of the differently functioning portions.

Notes:

The lot makes use of the Theatre rabbithole from the Supernatural EP. and the Subway Station from the Late Night EP. Other than that, however, this is one lot that seems to work just fine without EPs... a few build / buy items will probably be replaced, but the functionality of this particular lot seems to rest on mods and not expansion-only code. You could even get rid of the subway station entirely if your world does not have subways to begin with, it will not affect the playability of the lot.

I have listed some individual items that are from EPs and SPs, when I thought they might be easy to mistake for CC items. I have also listed all Store content, where identifiable.

Tips about missing CC + notes about playability:

Pizzeria:

Martine has placed a deco register as a sort of placeholder. You could leave it as it is, or you can replace that deco item with a functioning food register, if you can’t or don’t want to use the Store Bistro set (otherwise, though, I would use the Bistro, as it works quite well with this sort of restaurant venue). I recommend Arsil’s Food Register mod (so that you can select the menu) with any number of Arsil-based register meshes by Around The Sims (there is even one that is the same mesh as Martine used for her deco version).

I have replaced the Store Bistro Oven with Ani’s modded version of the same item, as I prefer her version (still requires the Store item to function, as it contains the necessary scripts). And for menus I actually use neither the file given by Ani nor the Store, but the menu recolors by aa6x7 (versions are provided to work with both versions of the Bistro Oven) or by SigmundSims (only available for Ani’s version).

The vast majority of content, both CC and EA, have been identified.... there may have been some EP/SP items that slipped through the cracks and which I forgot to list, but otherwise every object should be identified. Some wood plank patterns remain unknown (the ones used in the stage out back, for one), but those are not particularly special and are easy enough to replace.

Bridal Shop:

This shop can be used as a playable bridal boutique with the Shop for Clothes mod by Ani, especially as Sandy’s dress rack was designed from the start to work with this mod. If you have the Into The Future EP installed, and would prefer to use the Shop for Clothes Pedestal,  Ani’s newer clothes shopping mod, you can simply replace either (or both) the dress racks and the display mannequins in the window with the functional ones that come with the EP. For use in most stores, I would recommend using this modified mannequin base by @aroundthesims​ instead of the one that comes with ITF, as it’s much less bulky and less likely to clash with the decor.

Alternatively, you could replace the waiting lounge with an Ambitions EP styling station, if you want to simulate the bride actually trying on her dresses in the game. If you (understandably) don’t want to use the honking-huge one that comes with the EP, there is a de-bulked version by Menaceman44 @MTS, as well as an even sleeker version by @aroundthesims Sandy.

Again, most everything Martine used on this lot is identified, except for the wood plank pattern of the floor, plus possibly a few other patterns that may have escaped my notice because they aren’t that important.

I dunno, all my Sims take pretty good care of themselves in terms of filling their own motives as well as gaining skill points. It’s probably because of the mods I have that nuke a portion of the behaviors they can engage in, so that they are more directed towards things that actually do something for them. Also, I’ve made lots of objects have autonomous interactions, so it keeps them busy and happy. :) Of course, it makes things like Asylum Challenges a little less fun, but I generally prefer to have Sims that I don’t have to micromanage, as I’m mostly a hands-off sort of player.

It’s a good life for a Popularity Sim, I think. Cherry’s Romance/Popularity, but she’s always been more interested in the popularity-type things than the romance-type things. Well, except for woohoo, but she’s perfectly happy to keep that within the triad.

Yeah, all those pics and GIFs and stuff to load can really gum up the works. I’m used to it being slow in Colorado, where the only option available is really, really crappy DSL. It’s cheap and it’s the only option for the moment, so it’s not really worth complaining about. But here in CA, where we’ve been for over a year now, we have that fiberoptic jazz, and it’s usually really, really fast and it’s expensive. So, when you pay a lot for fast internet, you expect it to be...Well, fast. All the time. :) But apparently they were doing something the past couple days and I guess they’re done because it’s back to normal now. :)

I still worry that it’ll be pushing it too much...but then I remember that most of the converted stuff from other games is high-res/high-poly, and since I don’t have very much of that stuff AND I don’t have an unreasonable amount of hi-res custom hair, either, I’m figuring I, at least, can go sort of hog-wild with objects and walls/floors. Not so sure about everyone else, though...

Yeah, the hubbo called them. It’s his job to do phone things, since I hate talking on phones. Apparently, they were doing something or something was down (I kind of tuned out all the technobabble that I don’t understand), but it’s fixed now. YAY! I’m just glad it wasn’t a problem on our end.

They are a recolor I have of the Holy Simoly “Simply Elegant” curtains. I’m sorry to say that I have no idea who made that particular recolor or where it might be found since I have hundreds of recolors of those things, gathered over years. I’m sorry! But I agree they’re nice. But then, orange IS one of my favorite colors. :)

I imagine the people who do the game ratings might be a little iffy on Sims outright wishing death on people. :) But it is still pretty much the same thing. Even more vicious is wanting them to be eaten by a cowplant so that the pissed-off Sim can drink their life essence. Yow!

It is indeed TS2! Completely unedited pics, too. With all of the stuff that’s been made for the game in the past couple of years, particularly the stuff that affects neighborbood view, I think it’s the prettiest game of the four. But, I could be a wee bit biased. ;)

Mesh creators often have policies. Some are great, others are a bit strict, but whatever the policy, it should be respected by those who do not mesh, simply because they can’t. Then, there are folks like me, who can mesh (and have until their brains bled), but simply don’t. Folks like me still respect said policies from other mesh creators. That being said, recolor artists, like myself, also tend to have policies. Many of us make our own textures, take photos and turn them into images that we use for recoloring projects, or just use a Google Images search and turn a really cool curtain photo, into a set of pillows, 3 blankets and a throw rug. We’re flexible like that. So, I too have a policy regarding the use of my swatches, palettes, textures and the like.

My policy? Use anything I put out there, for any recolor project you would like. Meshers are free to use any of my stuff for any mesh they make. I have no copy rights on any of my photos, and anything I use from an internet search is always 100% free share licensing. I’m one of those people that feels that if someone just paid a few hundred dollars on a series of expansion packs, and stuff packs, and the main game itself....there’s no way I could, in my right mind, or my left, charge anyone for anything that I recolor, especially for TS2...even if all 5 of my cats, and my dog, told me to. I usually ignore their advice anyway. :)

Berry Home Series: Mint Main pt. 1

After each generation finishes I want to stop and take a moment and show off the house that they built up throughout their challenge. So here’s the first house of the Berry Home Series: Mint Main. Since there’s a photo limit, this will be a 2-parter.

This is the first floor of the Mint Berry Family home. She purchased a stripped down version of Plateau Place in LilSimsie’s save file. So I can’t take credit for any landscaping or the basic floor plan. I recolored most of the exterior to fit the theme, but that’s about it.

90% of my CC comes from Peacemaker, Harrie, Felixandre & their combo Harlix, with various items from RVSN (main one is the family portrait). But I’m sure there’s other CC mixed in as well. But those are my main build CC with things like portraits, rugs, curtains, pillows, plants, etc. that are usually one off downloads.  If there’s anything you see, feel free to ask and I’ll do my best to get you the CC Creator.

Note: There were some additional edits made after Reed had moved out, like the Wormhole & SimRay weren’t fully upgraded and Serum collection wasn’t quite finished yet since I moved out literally the day Everleigh got promoted. The White Lion Pub and Shops are designated as a Local Watering Hole, as the pub is the only part of the build that requires a special lot designation in order to function. But there is also a boutique (that can be made functional with minimal to modest adjustments, depending on which direction you want to take this in), and a “radio station” that serves no in-game function, but contains a lot of activity / skill-type objects that make it perfect for a photoshoot or storytelling purposes.

There is also a “blank space” which Martine actually decorated to look like a real vacancy to let, and not just an unfurnished extra space. You can put an extra shop or restaurant there if you like, but I rather like the way Martine added those quirky touches, and it seems more realistic to have some vacancies somewhere in the town, so I like to keep it empty in my own game.

Originally I wanted to keep the WCIFs all on one spreadsheet, but 1) there are so many objects AND so many different rooms that it was getting unwieldy to cram them all on one sheet, and 2) there was very little overlap of items used between different "sections“ of the lot, so there wouldn’t have been any point on insisting on a single sheet, anyway.

This lot is one of my personal favorites, even among the many beautiful builds @martinessimblr has done for this world, and I hope my WCIF efforts will help you enjoy this lot as much as I do!

Notes:

Just in case it wasn’t already obvious, the Late Night EP is required for the lot to retain the “Local Watering Hole” designation, as well as for the pub games (dartboard, foozball, etc.) and the actual bartending bar in the pub. The Ambitions EP is also required, if you want to turn the boutique into a functional clothing store (more on that later).

I have listed some individual items that are from EPs and SPs, when I thought they might be easy to mistake for CC items. I have also listed all Store content, where identifiable.

Update (18-03-05): I realized I’d mistakenly attributed the wrong texture to the interior paneling of the White Lion Pub... I’d previously said it was Around The Sims’s “chestnut” wood pattern. It’s not, it’s the “elm” pattern by the same creator. I also managed to find two previously unattributed wood patterns (one for the picnic tables outside the pub, one for the countertops in the clothing boutique) and have updated the files and links accordingly.

Tips about missing CC + notes about playability:

Pub:

Often, most of the decor on the counter behind the bar (see this image to see what exactly I’m talking about) will spontaneously “disappear” when the lot is placed. Don’t worry, it hasn’t actually disappeared... it’s just that all the OMSPs used to place the clutter have sunk back to ground level, below the counter where they can’t be seen. You have to temporarily move the counter aside, and manually raise the OMSP values. Just remember that counter height in TS3 is 1 m high, give or take a few cm, while the lower shelf is approximately 155 cm.

The booths look like benches built into the wall, but actually behave as dining chairs. This is probably the easiest option in terms of hassle-free gameplay, but I don’t like how weird it all looks (plus the benches for the table opposite the stairs on the ground level are just impossible to use, this way). So I use the “disable snapping to slots on alt” cheat to place the booths however I like, then use this chair item (registration required to download, sorry about that) CASted to match the booths, and place them where I think the sims should actually be sitting. Luckily, the overlapping booth footprints don’t seem to interfere with sims using the table to sit and dine properly.

I have replaced the Store Bistro Oven with Ani’s modded version of the same item, as I prefer her version (still requires the Store item to function, as it contains the necessary scripts). And for menus I actually use neither the file given by Ani nor the Store, but the menu recolors by aa6x7 (versions are provided to work with both versions of the Bistro Oven).

Clothing Store:

This shop can be used as a playable boutique with the Shop for Clothes mod by Ani. If you have the Into The Future EP installed, and would prefer to use the Shop for Clothes Pedestal, Ani’s newer clothes shopping mod, you can simply replace some of the deco mannequins with the functional ones that come with the EP. For use in this particular store, I would recommend using this modified mannequin base by @aroundthesims​ instead, as it’s much less bulky and less likely to clash with the decor.

Most patterns used on this part of the lot have actually not yet been identified and/or found... the floral print on the dress hanging on the rack, the muted fabric on the mannequin, the striped pattern on the sliding curtain “doors”, etc. The wall textures also default to white when recolored, so I assume some pattern must have been used on them originally, despite them appearing solid in Martine’s previews.

The only pattern I still have my heart set on finding is the one on the University EP awning out front (the one with the motif of blackbirds / ravens sitting among birch trees), shown just above. I have still not given up, however! Any tip-offs will be greatly appreciated

For my personal use, I replaced the floral pattern on the hanging dress with the Fool’s Parsley pattern by Awesims (can be found backed up at TehSims here, or included in their “Mid-Century Mid/Mod Bathroom” set here). I also added an accent wall to the interior of the shop using this pattern of egrets (”Leaves 6″ by Pilar, and believe it or not, fully CAStable) on it to almost make up for the lack of the bird print for the awning. I use this fabric pattern by Djehmli on the mannequin.

The floorboard pattern I tend to replace with a textured wood pattern that looks like a single large slab of wood. I’ve tried both oak and pine patterns by Madaya74, and usually have trouble deciding which looks better: they both work well with the atmosphere of the store.

Radio Station:

None of the wall patterns have been found for this part of the lot. For my own game, I have replaced the missing concrete / sheetrock textures with modern, sleek wood paneling, using the “Chestnut” wood patterns by Sandy at ATS3, as quite often birch wood paneling is preferred for the interiors of recording studios.

CC from Karas Watching Society (the standing record sleeve decor in the recording studio) does not show up in my game as placed, for some reason. You will have to place the decor item used on this lot manually.

The wall lights used in the antechamber / waiting room area have been lost forever, and I cannot find any backups.

However, I have included notes in the spreadsheet about the best replacement for the missing items. I promise you, my tips will result in the exact same effect!

The light colors will also have to be set anew, after being replaced. Setting them “red” and “green” and both “0.8″ for brightness seems to work fine, but I prefer to set the brightness at “0.6″, and custom colors for the lights: “215,35,5″ and “35,215,5″ respectively. But everyone’s game looks different, so play around until you find a result you are happy with.

Yeah. :\ I know it can be done (sort of, but not really) with mods and custom skins and all that, and/or I could “cure” them and then “re-plant” them when they are, chronologically, proper adults, but...Well, honestly, I can’t be bothered. :) So, I just go with it. It really does creep me out, though, even though I can sort of justify it by saying that most non-tree plants don’t generally live as long as animals do, so they have to grow up quicker and blah-blah. But it’s still...yeah. Creepy.

I’ve always thought it’d be cool to have some trees with birds in them. I mean, I have a couple with birdhouses nailed to them... But, then again, meshing in birds sitting on branches would ramp up the poly count, and a lot of trees are already high-poly, so...maybe not such a good idea. ;)

Me, too. :) My mother’s mother was a big birdwatcher, and going on birding trips with her was one of the few things that we both enjoyed because...Well, we were very different people, otherwise. :) And when we weren’t doing that...Yeah, there was a lot of time spent looking at bird books and playing records of bird songs such that to this day, I can often identify birds better by their calls/songs than I can by actually seeing them. :)

Yeah, it’s funny. I just think it’s hilarious that that cat, although he’s supposedly fully-trained not to destroy furniture...He still does it. Granted, in that case, he was in a house that doesn’t have cats, so there was nothing else for him to scratch, but even at home where he has a lovely cat condo...Yup, he’d still rather go outside and scratch the flowers/shrubs...which are cloned from statues so according to the game, they’re “scratchable.” (I should probably go in and fix that one day, but on the other hand, it’s kind of hilarious, so... :) )

Probably. :) I like them because I have lots of stuff slaved to it -- curtains, furniture, lamps, rugs, etc. -- so that I can match things better without having a ton of custom bedding plus a ton of curtain/furniture/lamp/rug/etc. recolors to match. This way I have one “catalog” of recolors of one object and a bunch of slaved meshes. It keeps the downloads folder size down a little.

The clipping doesn’t bother me, personally, though. The only bad thing is that you don’t get to see the cute “morning cuddles” thing. The Sims still do it, of course; you just can’t see it. :) That said, you don’t need the bed blankets to do a bed-for-three. (In fact, for that bed, there are two blankets overlapped because otherwise they’re not wide enough.) You just need bedding that won’t show an obvious “seam” where the two beds (I used two double beds) overlap. Solid colors would be best, obviously, but some patterns might work, too, like sparse ones that have a lot of negative space or densely-patterned ones where the eye is distracted anyway. You don’t need the deco pillows, either, if you overlap two double beds, because the two “middle” pillows in the normal bedding overlap perfectly.

For certain values of fun, maybe. ;) Fun for them, maybe. But it’s not so fun to sit and watch them read. Knowledge Sims annoy the piss outta me for this very reason. I wish there were more active ways to gain cooking and cleaning points in the game. I mean, they can only do so much active cleaning and cooking -- and the amount of skill they gain when doing so is pretty small when compared to sitting on their butts reading -- so you’re left with watching them read or watch the cooking channel. Yay. :| At least for mechanical you can have them fix up a car...
