In addition to all the very correct other things people have mentioned, I have a probably controversial take, but.
People have often been seeking the divine long before they are Christian. God is everywhere, and God makes Himself known to people even if those people don’t know the nature of God yet.
So when those people do find Christ, it is not unreasonable for them to look at the things that helped them feel closer to the Divine before and orient those things towards the true and living God.
So stop the puritanical pearl clutching at the faithful Orthodox Babushka who sees Christ in the practices her Baba passed down to her. I promise you Satan is not getting his power from the braiding of bread and gifting of salt.
Some people need to get used to the idea that some expressions of Christianity will resemble some expressions of paganism in some ways, and that doesn't mean that this expression is Christianity "actually pagan" or something. Christianity, like any other form of spirituality, is highly variable in actual practice.
"Tee hee look at these """Christians""" doing this silly little thing that's not even in the Bible... don't they know that's actually paganism???" Seriously, kill the reactionary Protestant pastor in your head and stop repeating cutesiefied Satanic Panic rhetoric.

I love how whenever holidays come around, the entire Catholic and Orthodox community comes out to educate and beat away the “pagan” and Satanic Panic arguments.
It’s like this for Hallowtide, Christmas, Easter, and more.
