I finished Astro Bot tonight! It stood up to the hype! It may be short, but it's much longer than its predecessor, and every bit as fun! Not only did I beat the game, but I also Platinumed it on stream! Even if that did cause me to go quite a while longer than usual since the big post-game thing was a challenge run to end all challenge runs, which were certainly the most (and only?) annoying thing in the game. The level design was fantastic for a 3D platformer, the plot was simple and easy to understand without even a bit of dialogue, and the minimal controls were enhanced by the maximal controller features. Honestly, if you have a PS5, this game is a must-play!

She wasn’t sure what to expect as she walked down the sterile hospital hall. All she knew was that someone called her telling her that Hal Jordan had been in an accident and seemed to have lost all memory of the past sixteen years. Hell, she hadn’t even seen or talked to him in all that time and yet he was convinced the year was a decade and a half prior and that the two of them were still married. She shook her head as she counted the numbered doors.

304…305...306…307…308…309…and 310. Here we are.

Inhaling deeply, she steeled her nerves and turned the door handle, stepping inside with a quiet, “Excuse me.”

Four men looked up from around the bed, two on each side, and Hal laying in the hospital bed asleep. One of them stood up and walked over. “Can we help you?”

“Yes, I spoke on the phone with a man named…” she pulled a note out of her purse and read, “John Stewart?”

“That’s me.” He smiled and held out his hand. “You must be (Y/N) (L/N).”

Taking his hand, she shook it. “I am. You called me about Hal and said he was in some kind of accident?”

“Do you mind if we talk in the hall?” John asked. “Hal’s been kinda cranky since he’s been awake, and he just fell asleep.” He chuckled. “We’d like to keep it that way for as long as we can.”

She snorted. “Of course.”

The two stepped out and John shut the door behind him, quietly explaining, “Hal recently got into a bad…aircraft accident. He’s got retrograde amnesia. Can’t remember anything in the past seventeen years.”

She frowned, brows furrowing with concern. “Is he okay though? Besides the amnesia, I mean? Anything brain or nerve damage?”

John’s face drew in concern, and he tipped his head side to side. “It’s hard to say. The accident was pretty severe. It wasn’t just the head injury that Hal got out of it.”

“There’s more?”

“He broke both femurs and cracked his pelvis in a few places,” John murmured. “He’s capable of moving both legs and his hips, but he’ll be in recovery for a while along with physical therapy once he’s strong enough to walk.”

(Y/N) looked away, something churning horrible strong in her chest. “I see, that’s…a lot on his plate to heal.”

John nodded. “When he woke up, he was disoriented and confused but he kept asking for you. We didn’t know who you were, but he kept saying, ‘I want to see (Y/N). I want to see my wife.’” He gazed at her with something she regarded as suspicion. “But…in all the time me and the guys have known Hal, he’s never mentioned being married, let alone a stable relationship.”

“Because we’re not in one anymore,” she retorted, looking back at him with mild annoyance. “Hal and I divorced three years after we got married. I haven’t seen him in sixteen years, and I wanted to keep it that way to be honest.”

His eyes widened, mouth forming an ‘o’ shape. “Oh…I guess that explains it.”

“It does.” (Y/N) glanced at the door, holding her purse closer to her chest. “He must’ve not taken my name off his emergency contact, but I’m surprised the Air Force didn’t do it for him.”

“You were married when Hal was in?”

She nodded. “I was starting senior year of high school and Hal was enlisting.” A small smile she thought John didn’t see came over her lips and she murmured, “He surprised me when I graduated by waiting for me at the end of the stage.”

John’s eyes narrowed softly. “Seems like the two of you were in love back then.”

Something sad flashed across her face. “Yeah…I thought we were too.” Shaking it off, she met his gaze. “If you don’t mind, I’d at least like to speak with him. If he’s going to hear the truth it should come from me.”

“Do you maybe want to wait for some time before you tell him?” John offered. “I think telling him so shortly after the incident may not be such a good idea.”

(Y/N) thought for a moment then let out a heavy sigh. “Then I guess I should call a hotel around here and plan to stay for a few days.” She gripped the door handle and pushed it down, opening the door.

As she walked back inside, she heard John follow her and she looked at the bed, seeing Hal sitting up, no longer asleep, IVs in both arms, a concentrated look on his face as he spoke with one of the men, a ginger haired one. Hal turned his head at the noise coming from the door, eyes widening when they fell on her, and he reached over. “(Y/N)!”

She smiled sadly and stepped closer, taking his hand in hers as she gently sat on the edge of the bed. “Hi Hal. How are you feeling?”

His face pinched. “Like I just got a peanut butter shot in my ass and felt the effects a week and a half later.”

“I remember you writing me about that,” she laughed quietly. “You were sick for three weeks with a bronchitis type of cold.” Reaching up with her free hand, she pushed a few caramel strands from his face. “Hal, what’s the last thing you remember?”

Hal looked down at their hands, eyes slipping shut as he tried to think on his memories. “I can’t see things clearly…everything’s kinda fuzzy.”

She stared at him and urged, “Think really hard, Hal. Anything you can remember that me or your friends here can too is good news.”

His lip started to arch up showing his trouble and he stated, “I was talking to Staff Sergeant Parker about one of the birds on the flight line.”

The ginger haired man spoke up then. “Who’s Staff Sergeant Parker?”

(Y/N) met his gaze. “He was one of Hal’s COs when we were stationed in Coast City a few years ago.”

Hal opened his eyes. “Was?”

She nodded. “Last I heard, Staff Sargent Parker retired and relocated to the Montana mountains.”

“Am I really that out of it?” Hal asked with incredulity. “I don’t feel like it? I mean, I do, but…I don’t…”

A pained look came across his face and (Y/N) soothed him with a calm voice. “Hal, don’t try to force anything to come back right now. You just woke up recently. Focus on healing first.”

He gazed at her. “I feel like I’m forgetting so much. Important things that I can’t seem to pull to the front.” His lips pulled downwards.

“Hal, don’t hurt yourself trying to remember,” the third young man said, one with bright green eyes and dark black hair. “We don’t need you hurting yourself anymore, man.”

Hal looked at him, brows furrowed as he asked, “I…don’t remember—”

“Kyle,” he replied, then pointed to the ginger. “Guy, and John.”

“Right,” Hal said, snapping his fingers. “Sorry…I forgot.”

(Y/N) huffed a laugh. “It’s okay, Hal.” She patted his hand. “Why don’t you get some rest? Seems like trying to remember a lot is doing a number on you.” Hal tried to fight with a whine, and she leveled him with a hard stare. “Don’t make me call the nurses to bring a sedative.”

Hal’s expression pinched and he pushed the button to level out the bed, turning his head on the pillow. “I was worried when I woke up and didn’t see you, sweetheart.”

She tried for a smile but managed a better grimace. “Yeah?” combing through his brown hair softly, she said, “I’m here now, Hal.”

“You gonna be here when I wake up?” he looked so worried, so afraid.

(Y/N) nodded. “I will.” She thumbed his temple softly. “Get some sleep, Hal.”

“I love you,” he murmured, coffee eyes slipping shut, content to lay under her hand and she continued her ministrations until his head started tilting deeper into the pillow, breathing leveling out.

She didn’t say it back, merely pulling away and looking at John. “I’m going to step out into the hallway and call a motel for the next few nights, if that’s okay with you?”

“Absolutely,” John replied, letting her pass him to and out the door.

They watched as it shut behind her and the two men looked at him. “So…anyone else feel jilted lover vibes?” Guy asked.

“Same here,” Kyle added. “Something’s up with her.”

John frowned. “Well, apparently, Hal and (Y/N) haven’t been married for sixteen years now.”

“Oh shit.”

“Oh shit is right,” Kyle agreed. “So…why is she playing along?”

John looked at him. “I asked her not to tell him immediately for fear that something would upset his injuries. I want to wait and see if anything comes back to him before she breaks the seal, you know?”

Kyle nodded, but Guy cocked a brow. “The ex gets to play doting wife again? This is gonna be a soap opera on heels.”

“Something tells me that (Y/N) doesn’t want to be Hal’s doting wife again,” John muttered, just as the door opened and she stepped back inside.

“There’s a Days Inn down the street from the hospital. I’ve booked it for the week.” (Y/N) gazed at them. “I only have a couple nights worth of clothes, so I need to go shopping sometime later this evening.”

“I’ll take you,” John replied, letting her take his chair by the window. “Don’t worry about the hard things. Me and the guys will cover it all.”

“That sounds nice. Thank you.” (Y/N) glanced around at them. “So…how do you all know Hal?”

atonement - ProHero!Bakugo

Summary:  Bakugo had a plan, the only thing it involved was reaching the top. To him, that meant no distractions, at all. The day you came to him to tell him you were pregnant, he cut ties with you. Three years later, he runs into your daughter, his daughter and he learns the reality of what became of you after you parted ways and the gravity of just what he lost sets in. Can he atone for the mistakes he has made? Does he deserve to?

This was not what he planned. Bakugo had a plan for his life, and his one goal in life, in that plan was to become the top hero; nothing else really mattered. He hadn’t wanted to get involved with anyone past maybe taking them to dinner, but here he was, almost a year in and you were showing up at his door with a positive pregnancy test. You were going to have a child, his child. 

You showed up in tears at Katsuki’s door, positive test in hand, and instead of getting support from your boyfriend, you were getting in a fight. “This wasn’t the plan.” He said, getting angrier by the second. “I don’t care about your stupid plan okay, Katsuki! You’re not meant to be alone forever, this could be a blessing, our blessing.” You pleaded, gripping his arm. “I don’t have time for a kid okay? I’m going to be Number 1, I don’t have time for any distractions.” Bakugo spat, trying to pull out of your grip. You pulled your hand away as if you had been burned. “Is- is that all I am to you? A distraction?” You could feel the burning of tears in your throat, but you pushed it down; You would not cry in front of this man, you resolved. “Yes. I never should have gotten involved with you.” You stayed silent, too frozen by the weight of his words to move. “I’m breaking up with you, Y/N. I can’t do this.” You remained silent, not saying a word as you grabbed the few belongings that were in his apartment and you left, disappearing from his life. You blocked him on social media, blocked his number, changed your number, changed your address; You left him only with his memories. He had no way to contact you, even if he wanted to. 

A few years passed, Bakugo rose through the ProHero ranks, eventually landing at his current spot in the top 5. The first year he didn’t think about you much, he pushed the memories down, though he did move apartments because every once in a while his old one would smell like your perfume and he couldn’t stand it, he didn’t want to think about it. His friends asked about you, but he just told them you’d lost touch with each other. The second year was harder, he watched his friends getting married and settling down, and he’d have nightmares about what he had lost, what he had let walk out that door. Many girls tried to seduce him, tried to win his heart, but he just wasn’t interested, they weren’t you. 

He tried to find you once, but was unable to even when pulling a few things as a pro hero. Maybe you’d moved out of the country, maybe you’d changed your name; either way he was sure he’d never see you again. And maybe that’s what he deserved; maybe what they said was true, you only got one chance at a soulmate. 

The third year, the current year, he tried to convince his friends and his sidekicks that he was happy as a bachelor, that his success as a hero was enough for him. But on the inside, there was a void, and he knew it was he himself that had caused it. He was patrolling the city one day, passing a park, when a child, who couldn't be more than 3 bumped into his leg with an ‘oof.’ He knelt down to help the girl up, struck by her dusty blonde hair, almost the same color as his. The girl gasped when she looked up at him, “It’s (Hero Name)!!” He gave her a smile, the best one he could manage, “It sure is! Do you want me to give you an autograph?” He asked. The girl nodded and he pulled out a notebook and pen from his pocket, “What’s your name little girl?” He asked. “It’s Mizuki!” The girl said, giving him a toothy grin. Bakugo almost dropped his pen, her name was so similar to his mother’s name. 

“Hey Mizuki! Let’s not bother this pro hero any longer! He needs to go protect the city!” A woman’s voice called. Bakugo looked up sharply, sure he would find you were the owner of that voice, but instead he came face to face with your sister. He had only met her once, at a family gathering you had dragged him to, but he remembered her nonetheless. “Okay Auntie!” Mizuki said, running off to go play on the playground once more. “I know you’re probably expecting me to yell at you Bakugo, but I won’t.” She said. Bakugo didn’t reply, he didn’t have the words to express a reply. “Instead, I’ll just tell you that I hope you know how upset I am with you. I can’t even express it. You see that little girl over there?” She pointed at Mizuki. “That’s your daughter. And right now she’s living with me because Y/N is in a mental ward thanks to you.” She poked his chest hard with her finger; Bakugo’s eyes widened, a mental hospital? You? The smart capable woman he knew? Your sister tried not to cry, but a single tear slipped from her eyes. 

“She fell apart you know? After you told her you were done with her, after you told her she was just a distraction to you. You failed her. AND her.” She pointed to Mizuki again, then snatched the notebook and pen from his hand. She scribbled something down and shoved it back into his chest. “I honestly don’t know why I’m giving you that but maybe, maybe if you see her she’ll get better.” She choked the words out, “I’m giving you a chance to go see her if you wish, but I can’t promise that she’ll want to see you, or that she’ll give you a second chance. Now leave.” 

Bakugo spent the rest of his patrol trying to process what he had learned; every step felt heavy and his heart ached with the weight of what he had done, just how badly he had hurt you. He remembered the first time he had laid eyes on you, it had felt like the world had stopped, and how the first time he kissed you, how the world had started turning for the first time. Looking back on the past two years without you, his life had been dark, but now he knew that your life had been even darker, and it was all his fault. He pulled the notebook from his pocket, and looked at the address; he could practically feel his heart pulling him there. Before he could stop himself he was running, he ran and ran until he found himself across the street from where you were. He stopped short, Do I even deserve to want to see you? Would trying to come back into your life now hurt you more? 

The thought of even adding a little more hurt to your life was too much for him to bear and so he left, trudging home with thoughts swirling in his head. He had missed his daughter’s first word, her first smile, her first steps; how many more firsts had he missed? How many had you missed on account of him? He broke down at his kitchen table, the reality of just what exactly he had let walk out the door of that apartment so many years ago. His phone sat on the table and he grabbed it, punching a few numbers and pressing dial. If anyone could give him advice, and tell him not what he wanted to hear, but what he needed to hear, it was Kirishima. He picked up after the first two rings, “Hello?” Kirishima was met with a scramble of words mixed with sobs and regret, years of it all spewing out at once. 

“If you want to be in this child’s life and the mother’s life again, you better get your act together. She may not forgive you for what you did, I certainly think you are a dumbass for not choosing her in the first place but you need to show her that you regret what you did.” Kirishima said simply, and Bakugo felt his chest unclench for what was probably the first time in hours. “Thank you, I needed to hear that.” 

The next day, Bakugo went to the flower shop and bought your favorite flowers, daffodils. He remembered you loved them because they symbolized new beginnings, “Every day’s a new beginning.” You’d always say, with a smile on your face. He supposed this was sort of ironic, since he was the one who ended things but here he was, bringing you flowers that mean new beginnings. He gathered up the courage to walk up to the front desk. “Excuse me, I’m here to see L/N Y/N? She’s in room #305?” The receptionist smiled at him, “Of course, I’ll call her nurse and see if she’s taking visitors at the moment, Can I get your name?” “Bakugo Katsuki.” The receptionist was on the phone with the nurse for a bit, but hung up with a frown. “I’m sorry sir, she’s asleep at the moment.” His heart fell, “Oh. Well could you at least make sure she gets these?” He held out the flowers. “Yes of course sir. I’m sure she’ll love them.” 

The next day he returned, and was informed you were awake and taking visitors. He faltered before opening the door, but he pushed the doubt to the side and opened it anyway. Seeing you took his breath away, you were just as beautiful as he remembered. He didn’t say anything for a moment, just took in your features and tried to commit them to memory, just in case this would be the last time he’d ever see you again. Before he realized what was happening, tears were falling from his eyes. You stared at him, expression unreadable. “Hello Katsuki.” You said quietly, “It’s been a long time.” You gestured for him to sit in the chair at your bedside, he tentatively did so. “I didn’t want to admit this, but I --- I have missed you every day since I left you.” Bakugo began, his tears falling faster, “I know I don’t have the right to say that. I’m the one who walked away from you, from everything we could have been. I shouldn’t even be here right now, knowing that all of this is my fault, and it kills me. I did this to you, I failed you. And I have no right to need you, I have no right to tell you that I have regretted what I did, almost every single day. I know I shouldn’t tell you this, and I shouldn’t feel this way and I shouldn’t be here in your space telling you this but dammit Y/N I’m still in love with you.” 

Bakugo stiffened when you brought your hand up near his face, but to his surprise, you didn’t slap him even though he deserved it. Instead, you shifted closer to him and started, tickling him? It was just like you to exploit his weakness when he was vulnerable, but as hard as he tried he couldn’t keep himself from laughing. You pulled back and flashed him that smile, the one that made him fall in love with you in the first place. “It’s nice to hear you laugh again. I missed that.” You said. Suddenly, you scooted away from him and patted the open space next to you; Bakugo blinked in confusion, “I’m… not sure what you’re asking.” “I’m asking you to sit next to me dummy. You always were pretty dense Katsuki, but this is a new low.” Bakugo reluctantly kicked off his shoes and sat on the bed next to you, he stiffened when you pulled him close to you but soon relaxed into your touch. “I’m sorry I left.” He whispered, eyes closed. “I’m just happy you’re back.” You replied, stroking his hair like you used to do. Bakugo brought his hand up to intertwine it with yours. “When do you get out of here? I hate to think of you here alone any longer.” “A few more months I think, they want to monitor some things.” “Well, you won’t be alone anymore, you’re stuck with me from now on, forever.” “Well,” You laughed, and it was music to his ears, “I guess it’s a good thing I’m never planning on letting you go. 

The two of you fell asleep like that, hands intertwined and hazy sunlight shining through the window, illuminating the daffodils sitting on your bedside table.

Being an uber driver came with its fair share of headaches, but the pros heavily outweighed the cons. You were your own boss, working when you chose to rather than being stuck to a schedule, and if you didn’t want to drive someone because they were being a jerk, you didn’t have to. Most of the time, your clients were kind and respectful, keeping to themselves or making small talk, and the tips were great. Your rating on the app was above average because of this, but not top notch because you weren’t afraid to tell people off when they acted stupid.

Most of your clientele were repeat customers that appreciated your work ethic and professionalism, so they specifically requested you whenever possible. Because of this, you stopped taking new customers so you could focus on your repeat customers. One of the biggest clients that you dealt with was a man named Kageyama Tobio who, despite being fresh out of high school, was on a professional volleyball team representing Japan at the Olympics. He lived in a penthouse in Tokyo and clearly had more money than he knew what to do with, judging by how he tips without even counting the amount of money he offered you. He was a silent customer, preferring to keep to himself and get some rest between his interviews and practice games, which was fine with you.

You pulled up outside the penthouse, pulling out your phone to let him know that you were waiting outside and, like always, he responded with one word. You glanced at the sky, seeing the dark clouds rolling in. It was super humid outside, the summer heat nearly unbearable. The AC in the car wasn’t nearly as cold as usual because of it, but it was better than nothing.

The back door was pulled open, Kageyama practically throwing himself into the backseat. You glanced at him through the rear view mirror and frowned, turning in your seat to get a better look at him. His face was unusually pale, dark bags sitting beneath his bloodshot eyes, and the tip of his nose was bright red. He looked like absolute hell.

“Kageyama -”

“I’m going to be late,” he mumbled under his breath, body slumping down against the seat as he closed his eyes.

Chewing on your lip, you reluctantly started the GPS and pulled away from the curb. The ride was silent, broken only by the sound of the AC working hard to keep the car cool, and you found yourself glancing back at him every few minutes, but he didn’t shift from his position once. When you reached the office building where his next interview would be taking place, you parked the car and glanced back at him.

“We’re here,” you stated, but he didn’t move, making you turn in your seat. “Kageyama?” You reached out to him, feeling heat pouring off of his skin before you even made contact. When your fingers touched his forehead, your eyes widened. ‘He has a serious fever. Shit, what do I do?’ You turned back around, tapping your fingers on the steering wheel as you looked at the building. ‘He’s certainly not up for an interview…’ After a couple minutes of internally debating with yourself, you put the car in drive and headed back the way you had come.

Thunder began to rumble overhead as you got closer to the penthouse, rattling the windows of the car. Rather than pulling up at the front of the building like you normally would, you pulled into the parking garage where you came to a stop in front of the metal arm. The old man sitting in the booth started toward you, so you rolled the window down with a soft smile. “Good afternoon.”

“Afternoon.” He smiled back, tipping the hat he wore that matched his security uniform. “Are you here to visit someone? I’ll have to call up to them to verify.”

“Ah, no, actually…” You cleared your throat, a bead of nervous sweat rolling down your cheek. “I’m an uber driver that came here to pick up Kageyama-san, but he passed out in the backseat.”

The man tilted his body forehead to look into the back of the car, lips tugging downward. “I keep telling that boy he’s going to work himself to death. I saw him this morning and told him he looked sickly but he just waved me off.” He straightened his back with a huff, moving his hand as if he were swiping at an invisible fly. “I’ll let you through. Make sure he gets to his suite safely, you hear? Suite 305 on the eight floor.”

“Yes, sir. Thank you.” You nodded, turning your attention in front of you as the metal arm slowly started to rise up, allowing you to drive through the opening into the garage. You took the first available space before turning off the engine, dropping your keys into your pocket. As you headed for the opposite side of the car, your eyes scanned the garage, looking for someone that might be able to offer some assistance, but that level was empty. Thunder rumbled again, louder and stronger as the first signs of rain began to tumble from the sky.

You pulled the back door open, gently shaking his shoulder. “Kageyama-san. I know you don’t feel good but please wake up.”

A barely audible whine passed his lips, but he didn’t wake from his slumber, making you hang your head. You couldn’t just leave him in the car, he needed to get into bed so he could recover, but you were worried about your ability to carry him. Now, you had been on the wrestling team back in high school, so you were naturally stronger than the average person, but that was nearly three years ago and you certainly hadn’t kept up with your training in that time. Bringing your hand to your chin, your eyes scanned his body. Despite the slightly baggy clothes he wore, you knew that the volleyball player was mostly muscle and you imagined he probably weighed around a hundred and sixty pounds or so.

‘I can totally do this.’ With a nod, you carefully unbuckled his seat belt, having to hold him up so his body wouldn’t slump farther into the car. “I’m just putting this out there, if you want to wake up just long enough to help me out here, that’s be great.” But still, he did not stir. “Okay, fine. Be that way.”

With a huff, you brought his body closer to the edge of the seat, sliding your arms beneath his body. You originally wanted to carry him on your back, but getting him there seemed much more dangerous than you originally thought. ‘Guess he’s gonna be a princess today. Remember to lift with your legs,’ you grunted at his weight, but it was doable. Your arms would hate you later for it, but you felt confident that they could handle it long enough to get him upstairs.

Once he was out of the car, you kicked the door shut and headed for the elevator, having to bend your body so you could tap the button with your knuckle. It seemed to descend at the pace of a slug that had eaten its fill of your grandma’s plant, but it finally arrived with a ding, the doors sliding open. As you stepped inside, Kageyama shifted closer to you, his face falling against your neck as his long gingers clutched at your shirt, soft mumbles passing his lips. Heat rushed to your face, but you convinced yourself that it was just because of his flushed skin pressed against your own and not because you were currently carrying a very attractive celebrity athlete.

It was a struggle to press the eighth floor because it was higher than where your hands currently sat, but with some mild determination and a threat to ‘smash the button so many times it will forget its purpose’, you finally managed it, releasing a sigh as you leaned back against the wall. ‘What has my life become?’ You wondered, your eyes trained on the red digits above the door, slowly climbing toward the number eight. ‘He is my best customer, after all. I think his tips alone have earned a little special treatment. Besides, I’m just going to drop him off and then leave, he’ll never even know.’

The elevator lurched to a stop, dinging loudly as the doors slowly slid open and you stepped out, scanning the long hallway. ‘Let’s see, that one says 310 – 315.’ Your eyes shifted to the left. ‘And that one says 300 – 309.’ You started down the left side of the hallway, having to stop so you could readjust the man in your arms, which were quickly going numb.

At the realization, you walked a bit faster, eyes scanning the golden engraved plates by each door until you found the one you were looking for, but there was a problem. ‘How in the nine hells am I supposed to get inside?’ You glanced at the man, feeling your face grow hot again at the mere thought of rifling through his pockets, but… what choice did you have?

The door down the hall creaked open and then closed a moment later, a woman in her early sixties stepping out into the hall pushing a cleaning cart. She paused when she saw you, suspicious because she knew every single person that lived or worked on the first ten floors and she had never once seen you before.

You cleared your throat, forcing a smile that you hoped didn’t appear guilty. “Hello! My, uhm… friend lives here but he kind of overworked himself and passed out, would it be possible to open the door for me so I can put him to bed?”

For a moment, she just stood there, her narrowed eyes darting between you and the navy haired male, and then without a word, she pulled a set of keys from her pocket, approaching the door. You stepped back to give her room, wishing she would move a little bit faster because you didn’t know how much longer your arms would hold up.

When she finally got the door open, she paused, her narrowed eyes returning to your face. You shifted awkwardly, feeling as if she were looking into your very soul. Finally, her lips parted and she said in a raspy voice, “Take care of that idiotic blueberry.”

You blinked in surprise, watching as she returned to her cart and continued down the hall, knocking on the next door down before entering. ‘What a strange woman.’ You shook your head, stepping into the cool apartment. It was fairly modern, with very little decorations – and the few posters that he did have were all volleyball related. There was a small hallway just inside the door that opened up into a large area, the kitchen on the left with a small island and the living room on the right. The general colors of the place were white and grey, with a couple of other neutral or dark tones splashed in here and there. Beyond the kitchen was a short hallway that held three doors and since the first door was cracked open, you checked that one first.

‘Score!’ You grinned, stepping into the room and using your elbow to flip the switch, bathing the room with a soft yellow glow. Unlike the other room, his bedroom featured dark blues and greys, his sheets the same color as his hair. You gently laid him down, releasing a sigh of relief for your arms, which shook lightly from the horror that they had been subjected to. ‘Now I can leave and get back to work,’ you thought, turning toward the door, but something made you pause and look back at him. His breathing was heavy, mouth parted because he couldn’t get air through his nose. His face was a deep shade of red, a thin sheen of sweat dripping down his skin. You honestly felt bad just leaving him like that. ‘Damn you, Y/N, and your empathy!’

With a groan of frustration, you left the room to search the bathroom for a thermometer, but there was none there. Instead, you grabbed a washcloth from the rack bolted to the wall and headed into the kitchen, running it under cold water before wringing it out. You checked the cabinets and then the drawers, finally finding the thermometer in the junk drawer. You took the cap off, running it under hot water for a moment before drying it with a paper towel and heading back to his bedroom.

First, you folded the towel and set it across his forehead before carefully setting the tip of the thermometer into his mouth, forcing his mouth closed until it started to beep. ‘103° F… damn. I can’t really do anything until he wakes up.’

The phone within his coat pocket started to buzz loudly, making the boy stir in his sleep, a groan leaving his lips. You pulled the phone from his pocket, seeing the name Sawako Akimi flashing across the screen. Your thumb lowered only to lift again as you debated on whether or not to answer the phone, but then it stopped ringing, only for a text message to come through from the same person.

• ‘Where in the world are you, Tobio?’

You frowned at the use of his first name, but you knew it made sense that he would have a girlfriend considering how attractive and successful he is at such a young age. Before you could reply to the message and explain the situation, she continued.

• ‘You’re missing your interview! Do you have any idea how hard it was for me to secure this for you?’

• ‘I can’t believe you’ve done this to me. The looks these people are giving me!’

• ‘If you’re playing volleyball at the Y again, I swear, Tobio!’

Taking a breath, you started to type out a message before she could send another. ‘Hello there, my name is Y/N and I apologize for messaging you like this but I thought you should know that Kageyama-san is currently sleeping. I’m his uber driver and he passed out in the backseat of my car, he’s got the flue, I think. I brought him back to his room and I’m going to leave now, but I thought you should know :)’

She responded instantly.

• ‘Who the hell are you? Is this a joke?’

• ‘Who do you think you are using his phone?’

• ‘Don’t you dare move, I’ve called the cops! You’re going to be arrested for breaking and entering, stalking, plus assault! Checkmate, sweetheart. You fans are so disgusting, honestly.’

Your heart started to race within your chest at the words and you quickly tapped the power button to turn off the screen, setting it onto the bedside table. ‘Shit, what am I supposed to do? I should leave, but… won’t that make me look guilty? There’s no way to prove my story, though…’

Kageyama shifted, his eyes fluttering open. His body felt sore and heavy, as if he had been hit by a truck and he could’t recall where he last was. He could feel his sweaty body beneath his clothing, feel the burn in his nose when he tried to breathe through his nostrils. As he forced himself into a sitting position, his stomach churned and he slapped his hand over his mouth, bolting from the bed to rush to the bathroom where he emptied the contents of his stomach into the toilet.

You frowned as you came up behind him, softly rubbing his back to try and soothe him as he dry heaved. Though the thought of being arrested for trying to help worried you, you couldn’t bring yourself to leave him alone when he was feeling so ill. ‘I am so going to regret this. What if I get fired? Shit.’

Kageyama pushed himself up until his back hit the side of the tub, rubbing at his mouth with the back of his hand. His eyes were half-lidded as they stared at you, clouded with misery. “Why…” his voice was hoarse and raw as he tried to put his thoughts into words. “Why are you here?”

“You passed out in my car,” you explained with a frown. “What were you thinking, trying to go to an interview when you’re sick? I know I have no right to lecture you, but that was really stupid.”

His eyes widened at the mention of the interview and he groaned, letting his head fall backward. “Shit… the interview…”

“Yeah, about that -”

A loud banging echoed throughout the suite, followed by a loud male voice. “Police! Open up!”

You gave him a sheepish smile before standing up and heading to the door, pulling it open. Two officers stood on the other side of the door, looking at you suspiciously. “Hello, please come in.”

“We’re looking for Kageyama Tobio, the owner of this suite.” The first officer, Karaki, didn’t spare you a glance as he looked around the suite, looking for anything out of place.

“He’s in the bathroom -”

“And who are you?” The second office, Akimaru, eyed you suspiciously, his hand on his belt.

“My name is L/N F/N and I -”

“Did you get them, officers?!” A woman came rushing through the door, breathing heavily. Her eyes landed on you and she scowled angrily. “What are you waiting for? Arrest them! They entered this apartment illegally!”

“Calm down, ma’am,” Akimaru commented, holding his hands up when she tried to get closer to you. “We have to assess the situation.”

“Assess the – are you stupid? They are clearly a fan trying to take advantage of Tobio! I demand you arrest them!”

“Umm, I was just trying to help,” you sweatdropped, holding up your hands in surrender.

“That’s what they all say!” She scowled, putting her hand on her hip. “Fans always believe they are helping, but they are only helping themselves!”

You scowled, starting to feel annoyed by this screeching woman. “I am not his fan, I don’t even follow volleyball!”

��Yeah, right!”

“Will you stop screaming,” Kageyama slowly shuffled into the room, arm across his stomach. “You’re giving me a headache.”

“Tobio!” She rushed past the cops, pulling the taller male into a hug that he clearly didn’t want, his nose scrunching up. “Don’t worry, this psycho will be arrested for what they’ve done to you.”

He rolled his eyes, pushing her back with more effort than usual because of his weakened state. “Y/N isn’t going anywhere.” His eyes turned to the cops. “My name is Kageyama Tobio and I asked them over to take care of me while I’m sick.”

“Why are you lying for them?” The woman huffed. “I have the messages for pro -”

“Please go away, Sawako-san. I’m not in the mood for your theatrics. I’m going back to bed.” His dark eyes met yours and he reached out to you, waving his hand. You took the hint, following him back into the bedroom, closing the door behind you.

“I’m sorry about all this…”

Kageyama fell onto the bed with a groan, his half-lidded eyes landing on you. “S’fine. Thank you… for helping me.”

You smiled softly, picking up the damp rag that had fallen to the end of the bed when he sat up, gently placing it on the back of his neck which elicited a soft sigh from his lips. “You’re welcome, Kageyama-san.”

His eyes slid closed as sleep started to tug at his consciousness. His words were soft, barely audible, and you had to take a minute to process them because of that. When they finally registered, though, you couldn’t help the smile that came to your lips.

“Call me… Tobio…”

You gently brushed the hair away from his eyes. “Rest well… Tobio.”

The World of Zenith has 417.8 days in a year, and 27 hours in a day. Askr divides this into three seasons of five months, with each month lasting 27 days each. Due to the missing days all of the generates, Askr has a four day long intercalary month at the end of every season. The year Kiran arrived was the 6th year of the Resolution cycle. War with Embla broke out again the year before that, during the 5th year of the Resolution cycle.

Alfonse and Bruno were born several months apart, during the last year of the Remembrance cycle. Sharena, meanwhile, was born the following year during the first year of the Solitude cycle. About halfway through Solitude, Veronica was born in Embla, and either during that year or slightly after it, Bruno was exiled from Embla and arrived in Askr, assuming the name Zacharias. About two years later, the Emblian political situation fell apart due to the death of the emperor and the resulting power struggle. The Emblian Regency, as it was called, lasted three more years until the Empress, in a very shrewd demonstration of statescraft, finally reached and finalized a truce during the new year festivities. This officially took place during the very beginning of the first year of Resolution, although in truth it was a few days before during the Divinity Minor cycle. A few years after that, Zacharias departed Askr.

Currently, Askr is just now transitioning into the Devotion cycle. Hel!Zenith, being five years ahead of base Zenith, is about third of the way through the Devotion cycle, which they have gone back to calling by its original name, the Sacrifice Cycle.

Some random person named Fire Emblem was born on some random date, say, April 20, 1990. So, to find Fire’s Askran birthday…

FEH began on February 7th, 2017, so let’s say Fire traveled to Askr that very first day. This means that when Fire traveled to Askr, they were 27 years old, and around about 9791 days old (online calculators can do that calculation for you)!

9791/417.8 = about 23.43. This means Fire’s Askran age when they arrived was about 23.43.

The whole number here is 23, with the decimal being .43. So!

106 - the whole number (which was 23) = 82. This means Fire was born sometime in year 82, which, if we look back over the year post, means Fire was born in the 7th year of Reflection.

Now, let’s take that decimal to task. The decimal (0.43) * 417 = 179.31 days. This means Fire was born on the 179th day of year 82! Looking over our chart, we see that is in Hathuthr.

Now what? Well, now it’s just counting! Hathuthr, according to the lovely chart, lasts from day 166 to day 193. If we count days, we find that day 179 of Hathuthr is also the 14th day of the month! According to our second lovely chart, that day of the week is Kródegangr 2. So! Fire Emblem’s full Askran birthday would be:

And I’m beginning to think I might need a title for this.

The rest of the week passes in lightning speed, almost all his free time spent in rehearsals and learning his role. What remains is for homework and eating and sleeping. Kurt doesn't even have the energy to think about his campaign for class president. The posters are up – that will just have to do until after West Side Story. They're running three shows, Friday through Sunday, and Kurt wants, no, needs to do well. He's talked Lauren Zizes into recording the Saturday performance for him (talked, bribed, same thing, right?) and there's a possibility that the Lima Post will send a reporter.

It's going to be his first big performance – and it will either be his break, or his breaking.

At least rehearsals are going well. Rachel's still upset about Blaine leaving, and not exactly subtle about thinking it has to be Kurt's fault, but she leaves it offstage. It should be a relief, and yet... For some reason Kurt finds it annoying.

It's Thursday before he figures it out. By leaving her grievances behind her when she walks on stage Rachel's showing true professionalism – the kind Kurt was counting on when asking her to help him re-audition. She wasn't able to pull it out when he needed it to win the part, but now that he's got it she can. And that just...urgh, it burns. Because the next thought is that maybe she could, but chose not to. Maybe Rachel always wanted Blaine to be her Tony.

Kurt pushes that thought away ruthlessly, because he can't afford not to. He has three shows to get through. Three shows, hopefully without drama, and then he can examine his feelings about this whole mess.

No drama I said. Was that really too much to ask for? Kurt grouches as he spots an unfortunately familiar face in the audience. Apparently it was as Sebastian Smythe, in all his smarmy glory, is sitting front and center. Why is beyond Kurt, but he's sure there's nothing good to come off it. Still, the show's not over yet, so the meerkat's presence along with his possible scheming ends up pushed deep down, joining Rachel and Blaine in their box.

Of course he won't stay there. When Kurt walks out, still debating whether to join the others for their cast party or just go home to sleep, Smythe's waiting for him, leaning against the Nav. Kurt sighs, and steels himself. The only reason he can think of for the other boy to confront him is Blaine, and Kurt's really not got the energy for a round of “I won”.

That said, he's not going to let Smythe gloat either, and so he goes on the offense.

“Smythe. Please remove your probably decease-ridden behind from my car. And while you're at it, why don't you keep going and remove it from my presence completely.”

“That's how you treat someone who came all this way to see you perform? And here I thought there was a code of courtesy between Warblers.

“Then again, when I accepted the ticket it was to see Blaine.”

Kurt's eyes narrows, and his spine straightens even more. That's it. Damn being even the least bit polite.

“Then why did you come? Was it to gloat? What, you thought coming here and suffer through some public school kids perform West Side Story was worth it to needle me?  Couldn't wait until my next visit to the Lima Bean? Or did you think you'd get more material this way? I–”

“Woah! Hey, calm down, okay? Look, I'm sure whatever you're saying makes some kind of sense to you, but I'm not following. Why should I be here to gloat? And why should I not have come? And where is short and handsome?”

That last question makes Kurt hit the breaks, metaphorically speaking. He wants nothing more than to take out all his anger, all his frustration, everything he's felt over the past days – hell, weeks – on the meerkat. He's a convenient target, and some of what Kurt's feeling is even about him. But.

Something's off about all of this, and Kurt wants to know the truth more than he wants to unload. (Which he can always do later, if he still feels like it.)

“When's the last time you talked to Blaine? Yes, it matters. When?”

“Saturday, at Scandals. Haven't seen or heard from him since you dragged him out the door. Which is unusual, but if he's sick that should explain it.”

And that leaves Kurt with a chill running down his spine. It's not just him.

“We need to talk. Just, not here. We could, wait, no, they close soon.”

Half past ten on a Friday evening, and there's not a single place in Lima they can go to talk. Everything is either closed, closing or not safe. Staying where they are definitely isn't.

“Did you drive here? Great. Get your car, and follow me.”

Smythe doesn't complain, which is a boon. Maybe he's figured out that something's not right too.

Kurt drives as if on autopilot through town, and parks in a familiar spot. When he gets out Smythe rolls down the window and gives him an unimpressed stare.

“Here? You say you want to talk, and this is where you bring me? A garage.”

“Yes. Besides this the safest place we could find to sit down and talk is probably Scandals. Which, no thanks. Since I'm not exactly keen on bringing you home, even if I wasn't being sexiled,” and hadn't that been a fun text to get?, “we're down to two options. Here, or parking along the road. And since I'd rather not take the risk of either getting arrested or gaybashed, here it is. Come on.”

One advantage of taking this to the garage is that no one he knows has reason to come here and wonder why the Nav's parked outside. Another is the fact that the office has got a coffeemaker and decent coffee, something Kurt suspects he'll need to get through this. Alcohol might be better, but he doesn't drink.

Once they've both got a mug in front of them Kurt asks the question that's been burning since they left the parking lot.

“Have you heard anything about Blaine transferring back to Dalton?”

Smythe chokes on his coffee. A part of Kurt finds that satisfying, but mostly he just thinks it's delaying what he wants to know.

“Blaine, back to Dalton? Are you serious? No, I haven't heard anything about it, and I think I would have known if any of the others had. Why, is he thinking about it? Is that why you were onstage tonight and not him?”

Well. That explains a few things. Unfortunately it leaves even more questions behind.

“I don't know. I showed up in school Tuesday only to find out that Tony was mine because Blaine had transferred schools. I thought he'd gone back to Dalton – we all thought so – but if you don't know anything...” Then what the hell happened?

“What the hell happened?”

Kurt has to take a second to check that it wasn't him thinking out loud, but no, it's Smythe.

“I don't know. We...argued after Scandals, he stormed away and fell off the planet. He's not answering calls, or texts, or facebook messages. It's not just me either, Rachel – the girl playing Maria – hasn't heard from him either.

“At first I thought he was still angry. Then I thought maybe he was sick. And then when we found out about him transferring, I figured maybe his parents were angry about him being drunk and decided that he needed to go back to Dalton. But if he's not there, and he's not talking to you either...”

He looks Smythe in the eyes and sees an echo of his own worry there. They sit still with their half-forgotten coffee for a few minutes, trying to understand this shift in reality. Well, Kurt does. And he kind of thinks Smythe does too.

“So Blaine's gone missing. That's...well, I don't want to say 'ominous', but it kind of is. Like I said, I haven't heard a thing. It's possible he's pissed at me, especially if he got in trouble for drinking, but I still think I would have heard if any of the Warblers had heard something. There's no way they'd be able to keep quiet, not with how they wanted him visiting to be him returning.

“But I'll snoop around. Because if he's transferring, but not to Dalton, and stonewalling both of us... That doesn't sound good.”

No, it really doesn't.

They talk a little longer, sketching a plan for finding out what's going on, before a yawning Kurt decides he's allowed himself to be sexiled long enough. If Rachel and Finn are still at it, tough luck. He's got heavy-duty earplugs.

After trading phone numbers, Kurt tells Smythe how to get back on the way to Westerville before unlocking the Nav. He's almost closed the door when the other boy calls out his name.

Because the size of my excess (800) and the amount of damage matched the value of the car (800) I was advised it would be pointless to claim on the insurance and it was written off. The accident was my fault and I held my hands up and admitted it and the other party walked away with everything sorted. No suggestion of fraud and certainly nothing fraudulent on my part. Towards the end of 2008 my insurance company started falling off the radar, not returning my calls or my emails, letters etc. I repeatedly asked what I was supposed to do next (I'd never had an accident before and the whole process confused me because they kept giving me conflicting info) and where my car was. I was ignored (or given incorrect info). In the end I declared a SORN on the car and had so much going on in my personal life, I forgot about it, knowing the car was off the road. Anyway, I'm now trying to track the car down as the SORN is about to run out. Insurance company are still off the radar and refusing to answer. Now they're saying they have no record of me, my policy OR my car. So I've lost my car, I don't know who's got it and yet I'm still liable for it. What can I do? Can I get the police involved? Although I have spreadsheet skills, I can visualize that any template I make must provide for more assumptions than I want to make. Last year I really got into motorcycles and after riding a couple on back roads, I want to get one this year. I like the look and feel of an older motorcycle. I want to get something from the 80's. So far my most favourite bike I've ridden is a 1979 Honda with a 125 motor I believe. I don't care for speed, I like cruising. I'm more into chrome and chopperish feel. I'm a full time college student and I found that they offer motorcycle driving training there in the summer. Since I'm a student I will get a good discount. On top of that the parking at school for motorcycles is only $20 a month whereas I pay $7 a day for car parking. I live in Ontario, Canada which probably has the highest rates in the country. My grandfather, who is 72 years old, needs round-the-clock care that has now exceeded our capabilities. He suffers from pre-existing bad to severe dementia. He's suspicious, falls frequently, very forgetful, suffers from sundowning. He just doesn't know what to do and he even struggles with basic life functions. He also suffers from lymphatic cancer that metastasized to his lung and chest cavity, as well as squamous cell carcinoma that is very resistant to all his previous treatment and has spread to open wounds on his arm. Because all of his lymph nodes were removed, his lymphatic fluid constantly pools in that arm and swells to hugely abnormal size. Therefore he has to wear a sleeve to keep it in place, which is painful for him to put on and is time-consuming for his caregiver. He also is supposed to keep his arm elevated, but refuses because of his dementia. He is mean and hateful at times and insists that we are trying to kill him and is always demanding that his caregiver (my aging and stressed grandmother) remain at his side at all times, or he grows suspicious about her fidelity. He has hallucinations. We moved in with them to help her take care of him, but my school work (homeschooled, mainly to take care of them) and my mother's commute to work have also taken a toll on us. We hated to think about it, but we finally resolved that he belongs as a permanent resident in a home. The biggest problem is the astronomical cost which we can't just chip together , as it was never there in the first place. We did research on nursing home coverage and found out about long term care coverage. We found out some basic things like it is best to purchase at a young age. Unfortunately, my grandmother was never educated on insurance and doesn't possess significant life insurance nor anything like long-term care, and he doesn't qualify for the little help Medicaid offers. Although he suffers from cancer, he has reached the end of his treatment. His cancer was too resistant to all prospective radiation and chemotherapy, and the anti-body treatment that he tried, he had a massive allergic reaction to. He has awful pain all the time and is on a rotated regimen of extra strength ibeproufen and high dosage morphine, with a high grade fentanyl pain patch. So, although cancer plays a part in his insurance qualification in name, apart from being administered his medication and sleeve, his cancer is not the main concern as far as his care/treatment goes. We have had to accept that he is going to die sooner or later and are trying to find the best final preparations. Bentonite clay seems to be drawing out some of the side effects of his radiation (after which his cancer got worse), and so may prolong his life. The short prognosis was 2-9 months. His dementia have become exhausting and endless. There's simply nothing we can do anymore. He's on prescription for Aricept for the dementia and we give him melatonin for the sundowning, which seems to have a calming effect. Sorry for the long piece, but we're all very distressed about this and I felt that I had to give a thorough explanation of his ailments and treatment. Our needs are a long-term stay in a nursing home facility covering skilled care for his dementia, activities of daily living, ect. We also hope that he can be treated with respect and dignity. We need affordable prices like anyone else in the middle class, not astronomical rates. We also need a policy that would either cover pre-existing without penalizing for it or not asking health questions, ect., as my grandfather is obviously in need of care we can't offer him. The only policy we have even brushed upon is Physicians Mutual. We don't know anything about it really, and we don't know where to look for anything else. Everything seems to lead to a dead end online when we need a solution. Any help is greatly appreciated.""

However, they changed it because people wanted to see ‘the bitch be destroyed.’ As Aline says, it turned the film into a monster movie.”

“In the pilot, we referenced her previous attempts and her issues with medication and we always knew that we owed more to that story,” McKenna added. “Moving to West Covina temporarily buoyed Rebecca out of the low point she was in when she lived in New York, but it was a temporary balm and doomed to falter eventually.”

While the pair revealed that the particulars of this storyline didn’t begin to crystallize until season two, with the specifics only being hammered out when the writer’s room for season three convened, they admitted that following Rebecca all the way down to this sort of low was always in the cards. 

“This is a story about a woman learning who she is and finding out what makes her truly happy. Almost all of her actions have been based on external pressures and the type of person she ‘thinks’ she should be,” Bloom explained. “In so many ways, her external life is completely divorced from her internal life. Her patterns of denial and delusion were always building to this moment at which she’s at such a painful crossroads she wants to opt out.”

After getting the go-ahead from an “overwhelmingly supportive” CW, Bloom and McKenna reached out to several experts to make sure they got things right. “Before the season began, we reached out to various doctors to discuss both this suicide attempt as well as Rebecca’s ‘official’ diagnosis. Aline and I had talked at length about the manner in which she tries to take her own life before the writer’s room began,” Bloom revealed. “In her mind, Rebecca has lost all her friends, her last lifeline (her mother) has given up hope for her, and, to top it off, she’s on a plane, which is always a miserable place that heightens people’s emotions. We didn’t want to glamourize the pill taking at all (downing a fistful while singing a song)—she does it very silently and methodically. Each pill is an individual decision.

“Jack Dolgen, the episode writer for 305, was very thoughtful and sensitive with the whole storyline and, as he shared on Twitter, has his own personal experiences with suicidal thoughts and ideations that he brought to this episode in such a real way.”

Immediately following the episode’s airing on the east coast, Bloom and McKenna made themselves available on Twitter to answer any questions fans may have had about the episode or, at times, just help facilitate conversation about the audience’s own experiences with the important subject matter. “Rachel and I knew that people might be powerfully affected by the episode; we were when we were making it. So we both tweeted that it was going to be an emotional episode and were on hand for Twitter questions after,” McKenna said. “After it aired, we were so impressed with how fans have reached out to each other, connected and provided support to one other. We have been blown away by sensitive, intelligent, empathic responses people have had to the episode and to each other’s stories”

The social media conversation is likely to continue after this week’s episode, which showed the immediate aftermath of Rebecca’s suicide attempt and the toll it took on those closest to her, while also finally giving our hero the diagnosis she’d been longing for all her life. Under the care of a new doctor, Dr. Shin (guest star Jay Hayden), Rebecca learned she has Borderline Personality Disorder, a daunting diagnosis with no real quick fix. 

“We did a lot of research on Rebecca’s diagnosis. Read a lot of books and talked to several doctors and other mental health professionals,” McKenna, who wrote this week’s episode alongside Bloom and writers’ assistant Ilana Peña, said. “No diagnosis is simple or an ‘answer,’ but we really felt that Borderline Personality Disorder suited the behaviors we had seen from Rebecca. Rachel and I have been talking about BPD and how to handle the diagnosis since the end of season two.”

As Rebecca learned in the episode, she’ll have to be put in some serious work to manage her BPD in a meaningful way, which means we will see her embark on group therapy and other best practices are the series moves forward. But just because she’s been diagnosed, don’t expect for the title of the series to be nullified. “The diagnosis is not an easy answer or a solution. It’s really just a new way for her to start to understand her behavior and for her to see that there are many, many people who have the same issues she has,” McKenna explained “Borderline is the most prevalent mental health disorder and it’s among the most misunderstood. Knowing what you have is not a magic wand, it’s a tool for trying to make better choices in the future.”

While Rebecca’s friends surrounded her with love and support in this week’s episode, we watched as Paula (Donna Lynne Champlin), Heather (Vella Lovell), Valencia (Gabrielle Ruiz), Nathaniel (Scott Michael Foster) and Darryl (Pete Gardner) each handled the thought of nearly losing her in their own unique way. Given the sobering, realistic way the show is handling the plot line, it’s no surprise that the reverberations will continue to be felt in the coming episodes. 

“It’s definitely not something that people around her just get over,” McKenna revealed. “Each character has a completely different reaction over time and those reactions say a lot about those specific people and their own issues. One of the challenges of having a mental health issue is how it changes your relationships and Rebecca has to recalibrate many times with the people she knows and loves.”

And knowing our girl Rebecca, she’ll recalibrate with a song and dance every time.
