Absolutely agree. I won't deny Shrek 3 was animated beautifully. And even though Rumpelstiltskin's design was exaggerated more than the rest of the characters (who leaned more on realism), he still blended well in the universe.

I love Shrek's style, it also had a caricature-ish features with the character. It felt more like you just dived in to a fairytale book, not too colorful but not too bland with the colors.

ALSO yes! One of the reasons why I wasn't as attached to PIB 2 was the artstyle change, especially the eyes. Shrek characters were so realistic and I loved it, and it made some particular characters more handsome with smaller eyes. (I don't even want to imagine Pied Piper with disney eyes man- I can't)

the sudden stylistic change in characters between shrek the third and shrek forever after is what gets me
