Anon, I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt and answer this politely, but the way you've phrased this is at its best a little rude and at its worst quite entitled.

I am grateful you like Icarus. I really do. But this is not okay. I updated Icarus three and a half weeks ago, as you can see here - while I did update every two or three weeks before this, we have hardly entered a period of time that would constitute a hiatus. It is not ages. It is twenty-six days, most of which I have been constantly traveling, participating in a dermatology e-conference, presenting on top of my usual doctor job, and working. Considering my chapters average at least 8000 words, and the latest I uploaded on October 3rd being 13,579 words, I think you can see why I think three and a half weeks is not ages. It is not even unusual for an average writer's upload schedule with much shorter chapters to take this period of time.

I know you say you haven't been on tumblr much, and that is okay, but I have stated in my author's notes that I update progress on future chapters on my blog. A simple /search of my blog for Icarus would have yielded this search result. In which I have updated my progress on the next chapter here, here, and here.

So, anon, thank you for your support of my longfic. But this is exactly what you shouldn't do if you want writers to continue producing fanfic. Many writers have full-time jobs, responsibilities, and when it all comes together they may be working more than a full working week and still finding time to produce stories for free. Because we love to. Not because we are obligated to upload faster than every 3.5 weeks.
