I’m feeling kinda dumb because last night I injured my eye being a little careless. I was crafting some new jewelry for the shop and poked myself right in the eyeball with a piece of wire and scratched my cornea! 👁 It was terrible luck for me considering I just lost my government health insurance due to some paperwork errors and am still in the process of getting that worked out. I’m super lucky my awesome Dad lives nearby and picked me up to rush me to an eye doctor and paid for my prescription eyedrops. I’m so fortunate to have family to help me out- I know not everyone is as lucky and I’m so thankful. My eye should be just fine. The doctor says they heal super fast- I just have to avoid bright lights and use antibiotic drops for a few days so I don’t get an infection. Unfortunately that means no staring at fire while blowing glass for a few days. I have a follow up appointment on Thursday and hopefully I’ll be cleared to get back to work this weekend. Its already feeling much better compared to how painful it was yesterday. Today it feels like having an eyelash stuck in my eye constantly which is annoying but thank goodness I can see just fine. I guess I’m going to start wearing some glasses while crafting because I’m too clumsy to trust myself. 😖 Glassblowing is supposed to be the dangerous part of my job but of course I injured myself while crafting ‍♀️ lol . . . #injury #eyeball #dangerouswork #girlswhoblowglass #personalupdate #medicaldiagram https://www.instagram.com/p/Bs_BSHRHunq/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1bt06ml2aiuup

After and Before! Due to the materials I use, the needles of my sewing machine are often breaking. To protect myself I always wear safety googles. They are not pretty and very uncomfortable, because of my very tiny head and face. And if you need to look down, it got in the way and I got a weird posture. I don‘t have to wear glasses, so I needed something else. And now I got myself some blue-light glasses. As you can see, they are a little big for my face as well, but so much nicer to wear and for protection it might be good, that they are a little bigger. #annehermine #doilooksmarter #worksmart #recycling #upcycling #protection #diy #worktools #safetyfirst #protectyourself #dangerouswork #doityourself #handmadebusiness #sustainablebusiness #recyclinbusiness (hier: Vienna, Austria) https://www.instagram.com/p/CFSTOwilt_6/?igshid=1xpy5tca9uv50

COVID19 US NBC NEWS March29th 2020
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tina Summer Blomme Commentary: Devastation increases throughout America as COVID-19 Establishes a foothold. Although there is now a travel advisory affecting the epicentres, the spread will not be contained if a full out internal lock down is not put in place. If you have to leave any of these infected places for whatever reason ...leave now. Otherwise, you will be trapped as surrounding states will soon be FORCED to close their borders to protect their populations.  Yes in India there is chaos due to LATE action with only a 4 hour warning of  21 Day Lock down (which should have occurred gradually in Early February). All countries need to realise international and domestic travel needs to STOP immediately.  https://starvideocasts.com/covid19usnbcnewsmarch29th2020/ Coronavirus Vocabulary: Travel Advisories, Blood Bank, Antibodies, Experimental Treatment,Interstate Travel, Arkansas Tornado, Detroit, Florida, Texas, , New York State, New York City, COVID19, Connecticut,Coronado,Dangerous Work, Supermarket, Delivery, SafeWay, Krugur, coronavirus survivors,Blood Transfusion

TIME STAMPED Transcript to use as an aid to view any part of video 00:00 breaking news tonight the staggering 00:02 warning from the nation's top infectious 00:04 disease doctor that millions could be 00:06 infected by coronavirus and just how 00:08 many Americans could die I would say 00:11 between 100 and 200 thousand as 00:13 governor's warned they're running out of 00:15 medical supplies the president backs off 00:17 his threat to quarantine the New York 00:19 area instead the CDC issuing a new 00:22 travel advisory as some states now stop 00:25 visitors at checkpoints this is the line 00:27 of cars to get into Florida the possible 00:30 new treatment one hospital is trying 00:32 could a blood transfusion from 00:34 coronavirus survivors 00:35 help others beat the disease tornadoes 00:38 touched down in the south homes and 00:40 businesses destroyed how the doctor made 00:42 famous in this photo managed to survive 00:45 grocery delivery workers threatening to 00:47 strike tomorrow millions could be 00:49 affected what you need to know to go 00:52 grocery shopping safely and there's good 00:55 news tonight the newspaper delivery man 00:57 who's now running errands for his senior 00:59 customers and so many across this 01:01 country delivering kindness 01:03 01:08 good evening glad you're joining us 01:10 tonight we have a lot of developments to 01:12 tell you about and wish it were all 01:14 positive but it's not president Trump 01:16 late today extending the federal 01:18 guidelines for social distancing through 01:20 April 30th he said the death toll 01:22 expected to peak in about two weeks with 01:25 hopes of a recovery he said by June 01:28 earlier today the nation's leading 01:29 infectious disease doctor Anthony foutch 01:31 II warned that the nation could see 01:33 millions of cases of corona virus and a 01:36 dire death toll we begin tonight with 01:38 Kathy Park in New York as a corona virus 01:42 continues its deadly march across the 01:44 country this warning for Americans 01:47 looking at what was seeing now you know 01:49 I would say between 100 and 200 thousand 01:51 cases but I excuse me deaths I mean 01:53 we're gonna have millions of cases but I 01:55 just don't think that we really need to 01:58 make a projection when it's such a 02:01 moving target what we do know Jake is 02:04 that we got a serious problem in New 02:06 York we have a serious problem in New 02:08 Orleans and we're going to be developing 02:09 serious problems in other areas this 02:11 after 02:12 CDC issued a late Saturday travel 02:14 advisory for New York New Jersey and 02:16 Connecticut residents telling them to 02:18 refrain from non-essential domestic 02:20 travel for two weeks 02:22 the note is creating confusion after 02:24 President Trump first weighed the 02:26 possibility of a short term quarantine 02:28 in those states but later backed away 02:30 from the idea governor's were given full 02:32 discretion over the new rule out and 02:34 said the Advisory is already in practice 02:37 it's totally consistent with everything 02:39 we're doing that's something that as I 02:41 say it's de facto happening already 02:44 we're discouraging people from traveling 02:47 and making sure they stay as home as 02:49 much as possible with at least fifty 02:51 nine thousand positive cases at 02:53 approximately 42% of coronavirus deaths 02:56 in the u.s. centered in New York 02:58 Governor Andrew Cuomo extended the stay 03:00 at home order through April 15th 03:02 stretching into major holidays like 03:04 Easter and Passover the state is trying 03:07 to get ahead of the outbreak speak 03:09 mobilizing a temporary hospital at this 03:11 Manhattan Convention Center and awaiting 03:14 the arrival of the u.s. naval ship that 03:16 will provide extra beds for non Kovan 19 03:19 cases and even more help is on the way 03:22 the president announcing that a flight 03:24 arrived at JFK with millions of critical 03:26 medical supplies for health care workers 03:28 stretched thin and after pressure from 03:30 New York's governor the governor of 03:32 Rhode Island repealed the executive 03:34 order that had police and National Guard 03:36 members knocking on doors and checking 03:38 cars for visiting New Yorkers telling 03:40 them they must sell quarantine for 14 03:43 days and Kathy joins us now live from 03:45 the Javits Center here in Manhattan 03:47 Cathy normally that's a convention 03:49 center now being made into an emergency 03:50 field hospital when will that be ready 03:52 to operate and what's happening in 03:54 Central Park located a thousand beds 03:58 have been added to the Convention Center 03:59 behind me turned temporary hospital it 04:01 should be ready to go come tomorrow and 04:03 you mentioned Central Park there is 04:05 another emergency field hospital that's 04:07 currently in the works we saw triage 04:09 tents going up today and those should be 04:11 operational on Tuesday to treat Cova 19 04:14 patients kate as cases surged across the 04:17 country another administration official 04:19 is warning the worst is yet to come for 04:21 America's cities some so concerned 04:23 they're taking action to screen 04:25 travelers 04:26 coming in from other states Erin 04:27 McLaughlin has that story tonight as the 04:31 spread of kovat 19 accelerates a warning 04:34 all corners of the country are at risk 04:36 and America's cities vulnerable every 04:39 metro area should assume that they could 04:42 have an outbreak equivalent to new york 04:45 sunday new disaster declarations in 04:47 connecticut oregon georgia and a 04:49 disaster request from pennsylvania our 04:51 confirmed cases spiked by more than 20% 04:54 please stay calm stay home stay safe 04:59 louisiana 05:00 there's worry that days away from 05:02 potential catastrophe we're on a 05:04 trajectory currently to exceed our 05:06 capacity in the New Orleans area for 05:08 ventilators by about April the fourth 05:10 but there's also defiance despite an 05:12 order banning gatherings larger than 50 05:15 pastor Tony spell refuses to cancel 05:18 Sunday service attended by hundreds the 05:21 church again is not a non-essential okay 05:27 the church is the most essential thing 05:29 and all the world while some shrug off 05:32 the threat states are taking 05:34 extraordinary measures to slow the virus 05:37 spread our huge concern is if people 05:40 start to travel south a huge uprising in 05:45 Florida they're expanding checkpoints at 05:47 major interstates screening motorists 05:49 coming from kovat hotspots including New 05:51 York and Louisiana North Carolina the 05:54 Outer Banks now require an entry permit 05:57 while states see a surge of cases 05:59 including Michigan Detroit's now home to 06:02 the third largest outbreak behind New 06:03 York and Chicago here too there's a 06:06 concern about resources scarcity of 06:08 resources is not something I thought I 06:10 would ever have to face in this country 06:12 and I know that in my state it's already 06:15 happening similar worry in California 06:17 where there's more than 5,000 confirmed 06:20 cases this weekend the number in 06:22 critical care doubled to more than 400 06:24 and across the country convention 06:26 centers now turned makeshift hospitals 06:29 and errands with us now Erin Texas 06:32 adding new restrictions tonight that's 06:36 right Kate today tech 06:38 announced new restrictions for anyone 06:40 flying in from cities such as Miami and 06:43 Detroit new checkpoints along the 06:45 Louisiana border okay alright Erin thank 06:48 you we mentioned at the top of the 06:49 broadcast president Trump briefing the 06:51 nation late this afternoon he made news 06:53 on several fronts including just how 06:55 long we will all have to stick to those 06:57 social distancing guidelines Kelly 06:59 O'Donnell joins us now live from the 07:00 White House Kelly how much longer and 07:02 exactly what does it mean well this is a 07:04 stunning and in some ways surprising 07:06 announcement from President Trump who 07:08 had been talking about wanting to get 07:09 the country back to work today in the 07:11 Rose Garden he told reporters that the 07:14 extended federal guidelines will go 07:15 until April 30th he does not believe the 07:18 country will be back on track until June 07:21 first and this is a president who had 07:23 been anxious to get the country back to 07:25 normal I asked him if he is okay with 07:27 this decision and he talked about the 07:29 fact that he had been told by the 07:31 doctors that this could be a number of 07:33 deaths exceeding a couple of million if 07:36 there were not these severe steps to try 07:39 to mitigate that and so even with the 07:41 potential for 100,000 deaths he believes 07:43 these actions are necessary is asking 07:46 the public to remain at home through the 07:48 month of April these are sobering words 07:50 for a president who wanted to get back 07:52 to normal Kate it's big news for all of 07:54 us Kelly O'Donnell at the White House 07:55 Kelly thank you as the virus spreads 07:57 globally borders are shutting - it is a 08:00 nightmare of course for Americans 08:01 trapped in other countries travelers who 08:03 just couldn't make it out quickly enough 08:05 Sarah Harmon has some of their stories 08:07 tonight tens of thousands of Americans 08:10 are stranded overseas in India there's 08:14 chaos as the government imposes a 08:15 lockdown on more than a billion people 08:18 including Peter Joseph from San Diego 08:21 he's been stuck in his hostel for eight 08:23 days on the other side of the world Peru 08:30 closing its borders virtually overnight 08:33 sending American scrambling to the 08:35 airport yes looking for dove going home 08:38 Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron 08:40 Rodgers describing his own harrowing 08:43 escape in a radio interview there was 08:46 some moments where we were worried we 08:48 were not gonna 08:49 absolutely others weren't so lucky 08:52 yesterday 08:54 the only meal we got was lunch Zachary 08:56 MEXT Roth has been stuck in a youth 08:58 hostel in Cusco for 13 days 09:00 you got a repatriation flight through 09:03 the State Department but you weren't 09:05 allowed to leave the youth hostel 09:06 correct so the hostel manager said that 09:10 if I were to leave with that document I 09:13 would get arrested the State Department 09:15 saying we have no higher duty than to 09:17 protect American citizens and have 09:19 launched an unprecedented global effort 09:21 to bring home our citizens from every 09:24 corner of the globe but not everyone can 09:26 be rescued easily those on cruise ships 09:29 stranded at sea unwelcome in any Harbor 09:32 the zaandam off the coast of Panama 09:34 carrying four dead and more than a 09:37 hundred sick tonight transferring its 09:40 healthy passengers to another vessel as 09:43 stranded Americans around the world 09:45 wonder when and how they'll ever get 09:48 home Sara Hartmann NBC News Tonight in 09:52 the midst of this pandemic thousands of 09:54 people in the South and Midwest are 09:56 dealing with another disaster after 09:57 tornadoes battered their communities 09:59 yesterday the hardest hit Jonesboro 10:01 Arkansas are Morgan Chesky reports the 10:06 silent dissent of the unmistakable 10:08 funnel captured on highway cameras the 10:11 warnings coming just in time innit 10:18 Slater a direct hit on Jonesboro 10:20 Arkansas the tornadoes swelling by the 10:24 second one store owner nearly caught in 10:26 its path 10:27 watching the twister chew through 10:28 buildings just blocks away 10:30 all Queens on the ground HIV confer out 10:33 retail in the storms wake miles of 10:38 destruction and more than 20 people 10:39 injured the city mayor saying there's 10:42 shelter in place for coronavirus may 10:44 have actually saved lives I will say 10:46 that and I hate to say this but with a 10:48 corona virus I think there was not as 10:50 many people in that building and it 10:51 could have been much worse for the Burke 10:53 family the storm hits especially hard 10:55 Jared is a doctor now living apart from 10:58 wife ELISA and son Zeke has worked with 11:00 kovat 19 patients keeping him from 11:02 moments like this this photo from just 11:05 days ago captured the father high-fiving 11:07 his son through a glass door the picture 11:10 taken in a home and no longer stands on 11:13 her Facebook page 11:14 ELISA wrote our house is gone Jared was 11:17 inside but he survived by the grace of 11:19 God please pray for us as we begin to 11:22 pick up the pieces 11:23 tonight the family's fate shared by 11:25 dozens of others now fighting to move 11:27 forward from one crisis to another 11:30 Morgan Chesky NBC News and one other 11:34 note tonight among the coronavirus 11:36 deaths we learned about today country 11:37 music superstar Joe Diffie died of 11:39 complications due to the virus Diffie 11:42 became well-known in the 90s with 11:43 several number-one singles among his 11:46 most popular tunes prop me up beside the 11:48 jukebox and John Deere green the Grammy 11:50 winner was born and raised in Oklahoma 11:52 Joe Diffie was just 61 years old still 11:56 ahead the race for a cure could a blood 11:58 transfusion from a coronavirus survivor 12:00 help others fight the disease and 12:02 workers at a major grocery delivery 12:05 service are threatening to strike 12:06 tomorrow how it could impact your family 12:09 12:12 we're back now with a deeply personal 12:14 look at a day in the life of an 12:16 intensive care nurse like so many of our 12:19 health care heroes she's working around 12:21 the clock tending to coronavirus 12:22 patients and also taking care of her own 12:24 family during this difficult time this 12:27 is her story time to start today good 12:32 morning my name is ELISA silbo I'm a 12:34 nurse practitioner in the medical ICU 12:36 and North German hasit I'm about to take 12:39 my temperature because every morning and 12:42 every night I'm taking my temperature to 12:46 make sure they stay healthy to take care 12:48 of my patients so I'm by one of the 12:52 nurses station right now and we have the 12:54 doctor just watching in the rooms to 12:56 make sure everything's going okay with 12:57 the nursing staff inside the unit that I 13:00 work in is a Colvig quarantine is 13:04 critical care unit highest acuity 13:07 sickest patients that we have in the 13:10 health system right now people are 20 30 13:14 40 50 much younger than we expected this 13:19 is the tubing from the ventilator the 13:21 ventilators the breathing machine there 13:23 goes to a patient the tube goes into the 13:26 patient's now into the patient's lung 13:28 and inflates and deflates the lungs to 13:30 help you breathe if a patient's heart is 13:32 not doing well we put them on a cardiac 13:35 bypass machine this only affects the 13:38 lungs and helps with the breathing so 13:41 now we need to bypass the lungs and this 13:44 machine will purify the laws and 13:49 oxygenate the patient and give the 13:51 patient oxygen while his lungs are 13:53 killer 14:01 have some tears and crying right now cuz 14:04 I'm so tired but I'm gonna take a deep 14:07 breath and keep going on I think I just 14:09 needed that a little letdown but now I'm 14:12 gonna continue on and powering through 14:14 back into the end it just stay strong 14:20 today is day 5 of a 13-hour shift week I 14:26 usually do three days a week I'm up to 14:28 five 13 hour shifts this week and I'm 14:30 tired so I'm about to change my scrubs 14:33 to head home to see my babies our 14:37 deepest thanks to ELISA SoCo and 14:39 everyone working right now as 14:40 researchers race for a cure a hospital 14:43 in Houston is the first in the nation to 14:44 try using the blood of a coronavirus 14:46 survivor to cure a critically ill 14:49 patient joining me now is NBC News 14:51 contributor and pulmonologist dr. VIN 14:53 Gupta dr. Gupta thanks for being with us 14:55 president Trump talked about this in his 14:57 briefing today how would this 14:58 experimental treatment work you know 15:05 plasma is a part of blood and it 15:08 contains the cells that help us fight 15:10 infections antibodies which is a protein 15:13 it contains white blood cells which help 15:15 us fight infections and so the idea here 15:16 is can we harvest antibodies from people 15:20 that have survived kovat 19 have no 15:22 evidence of infection ongoing and give 15:24 this to individuals for either 15:26 critically ill like the houston case or 15:29 frontline health workers those over 65 15:31 years of age who don't have evidence of 15:33 infection maybe we can prophylaxis 15:35 infection so there's a lot of hope a lot 15:38 of excitement let's see what happens 15:39 let's see what happens I want to turn to 15:41 the shortage of ventilators there have 15:42 been reports about hospitals splitting 15:44 ventilators what are the risks involved 15:46 in doing that you know we don't we don't 15:53 get trained a monologist you don't get 15:54 trained in how to manage multiple 15:56 patients on one ventilator it's not 15:58 common there are a lot of risks the 16:01 biggest risk is that you only have 16:03 ability to send ventilator settings for 16:05 one type of setting and so that you 16:07 can't manage one patient that might need 16:09 one type of setting another patient may 16:10 need another type of setting so 16:12 hard to get precision medicine new on 16:15 its care to multiple critically ill 16:17 patients in the setting of splitting so 16:19 it's just there's a lot of things that 16:20 can happen you're gonna have to give 16:21 them more sedation possibly and that's 16:23 also associate with that outcome so 16:25 there's a lot of reasons to get at that 16:27 this should give us pause alright dr. 16:30 Gupta I know you continue to see 16:31 patients yourself while also helping us 16:33 understand thanks so much when we come 16:35 back workers at a major grocery delivery 16:37 service threatening to strike what you 16:39 need to know instacart which has been 16:46 delivering food to millions lately is 16:48 threatening to go on strike 16:50 Sam Brock has the story as many as 16:54 200,000 instacart workers could 16:57 instantly be off the frontlines as early 16:59 as tomorrow a lot of us are really 17:01 literally making the decision between 17:03 you know our health and our financial 17:07 security right now they're demanding 17:09 hazard pay and better safety year or 17:11 they'll strike no longer shopping for 17:13 and delivering your groceries instacart 17:16 telling employees through blog post were 17:18 immensely grateful for all that you do 17:20 to support families and people in need 17:22 they're offering more than a month of 17:24 pay for anyone diagnosed with kovat 17:26 nineteen and one time bonuses the 17:28 anxiety also being felt a traditional 17:31 grocers is it scary at all 17:33 to go to work right now I don't sleep 17:35 much because I'm scared of what I will 17:38 bring home to my children 17:39 Candice Oglesby lives in North Texas her 17:42 son is immunocompromised the cashier 17:44 says she's in contact with people all 17:46 day long and wants her national grocery 17:49 employer who she's not identifying to 17:51 acknowledge that and pay they're putting 17:53 their life and they're putting their 17:54 safety and their health on the line many 17:56 of America's largest grocery stores have 17:58 ramped up paying protections from 18:00 temporary salary hikes to bonuses and 18:02 across the board companies are putting 18:05 up Plexiglas at registers installing 18:07 social distancing reminders and cleaning 18:10 stores round-the-clock 18:11 grocers in particular are at a higher 18:13 risk not as high-risk as say a health 18:16 care worker but they are at a higher 18:17 risk than the general public 18:19 if you're worried about your safety when 18:21 shopping any time you use any surface 18:23 that people touch a lot like cart 18:25 handles for example make 18:26 sure you wipe it down with the 18:27 disinfectant wipe wear gloves or you can 18:29 also use the cloth as a barrier if you 18:31 need to once you get inside the 18:32 supermarket stand at least six feet away 18:34 from everybody else and do not touch 18:36 your face now once you get home yet all 18:38 these bags wipe off every surface they 18:40 touch and for anything that comes inside 18:42 of a box take the contents out and wipe 18:44 that off to a shelves remain stocked the 18:47 people making sure they stay that way 18:49 deemed essential employees by only a few 18:51 states opening up access to emergency 18:54 child care and testing I would give 18:56 anything to be able to test myself right 18:58 now 18:59 Sam Brock NBC News Miami still to come 19:02 there's good news tonight about the 19:04 newspaper delivery man Hi. This is what I look like when I work on drawing. It's just so intense. I have to be serious every time. I employ special straps that keep my body restrained in the supine drawing position. For hours. I keep a glass of tepid water beside my drawing table to ascertain the divinities of the drawing spirit. When the surface of the water ripples without my knowledge, I see when and where drawing time will fold in on itself. I have to keep my body ripped to carry out the drawing endeavor. I wear this gray drawing shirt to protect my vital organs from the drawing implements. Often an errant pen will flip off, puncturing various flesh nearby. I need to protect myself. I just draw so much. . . . . . #dangerouswork #onthejob #workhazard #artistportrait #soserious #Drawing #melodrama #beautifulbizarre #Blackandwhite #lifeformdrawingclub #inkfeature #brutsubmission #lowbrowart #illustrationhowl #comedyart #lowbrow #teddanderson #penandink #darkartist #illustration #newcontemporary #design #Sketchbook #fineart #artforthesick #blackink #linework #Artonpaper #outsiderart #dirtyconsumer (at Southdean, Scottish Borders, United Kingdom) https://www.instagram.com/p/BmQFaW8gv1y/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=17pmaw7s1uf0x

When you do some physical work and write the menu on the wall at work 😛 had some fun with type and chalk markers, kept it simple and black and white (colour doesn't really fit the place), writing on tiles is a lot harder than i thought it would be 😅 • • • • • • #artist #designer #design #typography #work #freelance #fun #3rdjob #wall #menu #handdrawn #type #physicalwork #artwork #chalkmarker #blackandwhite #cafe #coffee #coffeeadict #love #yum #drinks #milkshakes #dangerouswork #instamood #instadaily #instagood
