Chapter 8

YOU HADN'T HEARD FROM ELIZABETH. You wondered just how long she was going to put off answering her. You desperately wanted to text your parents, but you figured it would be better until you got some sort of response from your sister.

Meanwhile, you were getting to know the rest of your soulmates. Tony and Stephen weren't good at getting sleep. Stephen would stay up in the library for only God knew how many hours. Tony was the same, but in his lab.

Loki was somewhat distant, though when he was around you, he had your undivided attention and returned it in great measure. But he was mostly quiet, allowing his lovely brother Thor to do most of the talking.

Thor was boisterous, his voice loud but pleasant. He was a sweetheart and you were always thrilled whenever you hugged you- which was often. He was a snuggle bunny and the two of you were curled up all of the time.

Clint was hilarious and extremely kind. He had a pleasant relationship with Natasha, which allowed you to develop a nice relationship with the famous Black Widow. Apparently they had saved each others' lives. You thought it was sweet and liked their strong friendship.

Clint, you could tell, was a huge family man. This made him very similar to Steve, who also liked the idea of having a very large family, but had never thought he should adopt. Steve didn't like the idea of leaving an already once abandoned kid for his series of missions was just wrong. He'd prefer to have his own kids.

Steve, besides this family fact, was incredibly sweet. He was the perfect gentleman, always asking for permission and letting you take the lead for the most part. This contrasted greatly to Bucky's dominate behavior towards you.

Bucky wasn't anything like you'd thought he'd be. For an ex- assassin, he was humorous, light-hearted, and when paired with Clint and Sam, he was like an overgrown man child. His long brown hair curved his features handsomely, giving his jaw a squared shape to it. His metal arm was dark black with hints of gold.

Sam on the other hand was more reserved with you. When you hung with him, Steve, and Bucky, he was the quietest one, a far away look on his face like he was somewhere else.

After two more weeks had passed, the tattoos were slowly starting to colour. Thor's was the most coloured in, Loki's was last.

Despite these differences with the boys, the ups and downs of trying to get to know all of them at once, and the disappointment of the lack of response from Elizabeth, life was great.

You had just gotten in from hanging out with Ivy at the bar. You hadn't drunk much, only three or four bottles. You headed down to Tony's first to see what he was up to. You were one of the few people allowed in the lab and Kaylee said this was a great privilege.

Personally- perhaps because you didn't understand any of it- you didn't see what was that great about the lab. Nor did you see any reason that it was better than coming to bed with you and Stephen. But, you probably needed engineering blood to understand it.

"Hey sweetheart." Tony grinned as he watched you walk into the lab. Bruce wasn't there, making Tony the only person in there. He was working on some new fancy robot. "How was your evening?"

"It was great, thanks." You said with a grin, sitting yourself down on the edge of the table, crossing your legs at the ankle. "What are you working on?"

You got lost in all of the scientific details and words that Tony was talking about, nodding along like you had a clue what he was talking about. Tony droned on and on, gesturing to different parts of the robot. You looked at them, though you had no idea what they were supposed to do.

"I'll be honest," You said with a small smile. "I don't really know what's going on here. But you look happy when you're explaining it so keep going."

Tony chuckled, turning away from the robot. He wrapped an arm around your waist, pulling you to him so that he could press his lips to yours. His other hand came up to push through your short hair to hold your head to him.

You wrapped your arms tightly around his neck, pressing yourself into him. God you loved this man.

Tony pulled back breathless. You carded your fingers through his hair, regaining breath yourself.

"Maybe. . ." Tony said, moving his lips down against your neck, nipping lightly at your skin, "We can go on upstairs, drag Stephen out of the library, and have an early night, what do you say?"

"I say that's an amazing idea." You said, feeling excitement bubble up under your skin. You hadn't actually been to bed with any of them yet- not in an intimate romantic way anyways.

Tony beamed, "C'mon then."

You let him lead you up to the twenty-sixth floor where you found Stephen pouring over another book.

"Steph?" Tony murmured, sliding his hands down the front of his chest while standing behind him. "You want to come to bed with us?"

Stephen closed his eyes, leaning back into Tony's embrace. He smiled and replied lightly, "What a bad boy for interrupting my work."

Tony chuckled, though he shifted where he stood. "C'mon."

Stephen closed the book and stood up, turning so that he could lean down and kiss Tony passionately. Then he put the book away in the library shelf, striding over to you, pulling you into a passionate kiss.

He nipped your bottom lip, sucking at it, leaving it swollen before he pulled back. Then, you were suddenly falling before you landed on a soft bed.

"Wha-" You looked around in a panic.

"Magic." Stephen said simply, his cloak floating away from you guys. He set his golden ring down on the side table.

You blink, realizing that he must have teleported you here. It was still weird to you, knowing that magic existed.

Tony chuckles, coming up behind you to lift your shirt up over your head, kissing down the base of your neck before he unhooks your bra next. He flings it to the side and Stephen moves forward now, his hands on your hips, his mouth on your lips.

He tastes like cinnamon surprisingly, not a taste that you would have thought would be on his lips. There's also a hint of peppermint, and you're starting to wonder if perhaps he'd made himself a cup of tea.

His stubble scrapes against your cheek as he tilts his head to press soft kisses to the base of your neck while Tony pulls your skirt down. You kicked off the shoes that you were wearing so that they fall with soft thunks to the floor.

ELIZABETH WAS THRILLED. ONLY TWO days after the conversation with her parents- almost two weeks before you would have sex with Tony and Stephen- a beam of rainbow light came down from the sky.

Elizabeth blinked for a moment, looking down at her own clothes to see if perhaps she had been transported into a favorite book of hers. Nope, she was still wearing her blue skinny jeans, tucked into cowboy books. She was wearing a blue plaid open shirt with a white T-shirt underneath. Her long brown hair was pulled back into a ponytail and she'd done the bare minimum with her makeup. In one hand was an empty basket and in the other was chicken feed.

"Are you Elizabeth?" The man finally asked when he noticed her.

She swallowed, finding her voice, "Yes, who the heck are you?"

"I'm Hogun the Grim. Thor sent for me." He replied.

The words made little sense to Elizabeth. She knew who Thor was, of course, but didn't understand why he would have sent for this man, or why this man was here.

She watched his eyes drift down to her arm, the Cherry Blossoms surrounding the Japanese sword seemed to almost glow- though it wasn't actually.

"Oh." Elizabeth blinked. "Pardon, but how did you know. . .?"

"My friend Thor is soulmated to your sister I believe." Hogun said with the slightest of frowns. "Your sister said that I was your soulmate. I would think that one is it?" He pointed to the sword.

Elizabeth could think of no reason why it wouldn't be and when Hogun held out his hand, she put the basket and feed down, stepping forward to accept his hand.

The colours bleached from her skin and she felt a warmth sweep through her and she grew surprised. It wasn't anything like she had expected. . . she hadn't expected to feel happy. To feel accepted already.

She didn't dare get her hopes up about the others, but about Hogun perhaps there was hope. Perhaps she would have a chance to be happy with her soulmate.

"I'm afraid I didn't come with much." Hogun said, a slight blush to his cheeks. "And I realize that you have no word ahead of time. But perhaps you could assist me? I'm afraid I don't know much about Midgardian culture."

Elizabeth smiled gently. "Of course. Please, let me show you around."

She had spent the rest of the day showing him the farm first. He had watched her interact with the animals, watched how happily she completed the chores. His favorite was with the horses, an animal he knew something about and even offered his help with.

She accepted the help and the two of them headed back up to her house with gallons of milk and chicken eggs.

Once they had put the food items away, Elizabeth had entered the backdoor. Hogun had lingered in the doorway as Elizabeth had awkwardly gotten her parents attention, introducing them to Hogun.

Your guys' mother was thrilled, greeting him with excitement and joy. Elizabeth quickly explained who he was and where he was from. Your mother immediately offered to get him some normal clothes.

That gave your father time to interact with him. Hogun treated your father with a great deal of respect while Elizabeth lingered about nervously, watching the two of them interact for a moment before leaving to cook dinner.

By the time she had returned, Hogun was wearing jeans and a T-shirt, looking slightly awkward about his. His clothes had been put in the small guest bedroom, though he kept his sword on him. He and your father also seemed to be on good terms.

Dinner was a pleasant affair on all accounts and Hogun and Elizabeth had stayed up on the porch watching the fire flies flit around. They traded stories and anecdotes and Elizabeth found herself laughing for the first time in a long time. Hogun felt his tough, grim, hard façade slowly melting away into a softer one.

By the time the both of them went to bed, both were feeling wonderfully about their new acquaintance.

Hogun had waited a long time for his soulmate, longer than Thor, longer than Loki. Thor had found Sif at a young age and Hogun was older than Loki. Now that he had found Elizabeth, he seemed almost complete. He hoped that things worked out for the best between the two of them.

Elizabeth meanwhile, was rethinking everything she'd previously thought about soulmates. She found him exceedingly nice and familiar with animals. He seemed to enjoy the farm and had even inquired more about the farm and the way it was run.

However, Elizabeth argued as she rolled over onto her side to face the door, he wasn't Y/N's soulmate either. He was solely hers. How the others would treat her would be a different story, she assumed.

She decided to give it some more time before she gave you any clear indications about what she was going to do.

OK I AM BACK. i read the fic T_T. stephen starting to quote EBB made me cackle. the first person approach was absolutely lovely to read (tho i might be biased for obvious reasons 😜).

a few of my fave lines:

Stephen put himself on the spot by being like "idk do you want me to explain loving you?" as though Tony wasn't immediately going to be like "Yes stroke my ego." Plus Stephen strikes me very much as the kind of person who would have several poems memorized for recitation. And yes I can absolutely imagine why you, of all people, would appreciate a Tony PoV ahaha!!

NGL I forgot that first line and I had been so darn proud of it, too. Especially imagining it with Stephen whispering it teasingly into Tony's ear. Like, sir? Was that necessary? So I'm really glad you enjoyed it so much❣ And I'm equally weak for the "smiling against the skin" thing where you can just... feel the smile even if you can't see it. There's something so tender about it for me.

Really when you compare the two stories there are some interesting similarities and differences. For one, Stephen keeps walking into things and needing to kinda dig himself out. He isn't sure how to explain things well, where Loki's just like "it just is." and doesn't feel like he needs to explain what simply exists, though he's willing to humour Tony because that's just how Tony is.

Stephen compares magic to love, where Loki compares it to truth. And in the end, Stephen simply resorts to distraction because he'd somewhat guided the conversation that way, where Loki recognizes that this isn't going to be the end of the conversation, even if it's the end of it for the moment, and genuinely looks forward to having the conversation again and finding out what angle Tony's going to come at it from next time.

I'm very glad you enjoyed reading it and that somehow it holds up after all these years because sometimes things really just don't. (Stares at Uninvited in 'why are you still posted oh my god')

Cannot express the joy I feel in reading some of the tags you fellows leave. I wish I could reply to every single one of them with my gratitude, but unfortunately I don’t know how.

This is a post explaining 838 lore! There is literally too much text from what I have so far, so I’ll break the 838 involvement into two parts: Lore/Backstory and Involvement in the actual re-write. Yet again, most of what’s written here is only thought out for my own enjoyment and is never mentioned in the actual re-write.

This post will explain how 838 Stephen varies from 616 and the others, the change in the timeline because of this variation, the forming of the Illuminati and Supreme’s downfall and how that leads into the plot, as well as details of various supporting characters like Christine, Tony (Yep. He’s here because I said so) and Mordo.

I apologize for any spelling errors. I cannot proof read when there is more than three words on screen.

TIME TO GO TO FLAVORTOWN!

838 Stephen lore.

In this Universe, Stephen sought Kamar-Taj to try and bring Donna back. He was still in his early days of being a Doctor, and learns of Kamar-Taj through Jonathan Pangborn. After seeing him walk as if his spine was not snapped clean in two, Stephen’s curiosity led him to questioning John and leading him to Kathmandu.

This means that he became a sorcerer at a younger age and making him the youngest Strange out of the four main variants (Sinister is oldest, then defender, 616 Stephen and then 838).

As a result of his premature arrival Kaecilius was still a Master of Kamar-Taj and finds Stephen’s motives in learning magic to mirror his (death of loved one/s) and attempts to become his mentor, but Tao assigns Mordo to him instead.

Kaecilius is angered that Tao is allowing another student to be led blindly into joining the league of sorcerers and attempts to pull Stephen onto his side with his Zealots. Stephen agrees with his cause, believing this was the way to get Donna back and joins the zealots for a short period of time, learning of Dormammu and the dark dimension.

Later on Kaecilius and the zealots overthrow Tao, and Stephen is forced to betray Kaecilius to fulfill his Hippocratic oath. Tao sees the good in Stephen and gives him the title of Sorcerer supreme before she dies.

Stephen was not ready to have the title, and thus he is assigned Wong, who aids him as a sort of mentor, ally and bodyguard to ensure he is led on the right path.

Stephen, Wong and Mordo put a stop to Kaecilus’ operations, but Mordo, enraged that Tao would so impulsively gave the title to Stephen, leaves Kamar-Taj.

A short break before we get into the 838 lore that’s directly important to the plot. This break is bought to you by….

Wong’s new physical form!

He looks like that because I like comic Wong and he deserves the world. Benedict Wong is a god I will worship forever till death, but comic Wong is my uncle. Because of the pre-existing lore with the Peters looking different I thought it would be reasonable to have this Wong be different too. Stephen also has a couple of Variants which differ from the uniquely molded alien shape of Benedict Cumberbatch. My variant from universe 001 is Vincent Price to pay respects to the likeness they pulled from the actor in the comics.

ANYWHO, BACK TO IT!

The forming of ‘The Illuminati’

Because 838 Stephen was Sorcerer Supreme earlier, the world was introduced to the sorcerer’s and mystic order a lot earlier, as Stephen’s personality won’t allow him to work from the shadows.

As a result he helped in the ‘Battle of New York’ (naturally since he lives in the sanctum), and became acquainted with the Avengers.

After the battle ended Tony, who became paranoid of out of the world threats, created ‘The Illuminati’, a secret group of people who could handle these threats with their differing abilities.

Now, I haven’t exactly pinned who is a part of the group and why, and it doesn’t really matter as only Tony needs to exist for the re-write plot, but so far I have Reed Richards, Tony Stark (a variant inspired by Superior Ironman), Professor X and Bruce Banner/Hulk.

Tony still creates Ultron, though the details of all that I haven’t bothered to come up with. All that matters is that Vision exists now. [^^>] Also Wanda is there. Yeah.

Infinity War / Endgame

Timeskip to Infinity War because this is where shit goes DOWN.

Thanos has come for the stones on earth, and the black order were sent as a warning. When The Avengers failed, The Illuminati banded together as planned and manage to deal with the order, leading to Thanos’ direct involvement.

Stephen attempts to use the book of Vishanti to find an answer to the crisis, but only finds tactics which involved sacrificing half the universe, or extremely dubious methods.

Naturally he turns to ✨Dark magic✨ instead. Because he, at one point, was a zealot, 838 Stephen is more drawn to the Dark Dimension as he knows the raw power it offers.

He devises a plan with Wong, telling him that he would create a pact with Dormammu, selling a small portion of his soul for a sum of power. After Thanos is dealt with, Wong will use the book of Vishanti to remove the darkness from him and hopefully restore his soul by breaking the pact. Wong, knowing Stephen will only turn to worse methods if he refused, agrees to this plan and leaves to find the book which the two built a waypoint to.

Stephen makes the pact successfully, arrives at the battle at the last minute, and absolutely obliterates the shit out of that grape.

Unfortunately the use of such raw power weakens his physical and spiritual bodies, meaning the energies he absorbed from Dormammu become volatile and uncontrollable. He, ironically, becomes the threat as bursts of dark magic explode out of him as he tries to contain it somehow.

Seeing the damage Stephen was causing, and thinking there to be no other way out, Tony kills Stephen. He does it swiftly, shooting him through the heart with a repulser blast.

Wong, who had retrieved the book of Vishanti, arrives to see Stephen hit the ground and draw his last breath.

The Illuminati take Stephen’s body, as a shocked Wong is unable to move. Believing it was the best thing to do they cover up Stephen’s outburst, creating a fabricated story of sacrifice to save his honor and public image.

The Illuminati disband after their conflicting opinions on Tony’s actions.

Kamar-Taj Post Endgame

Mordo, much like 616 Mordo, that’s begun a moral mission to wipe out the sorcerers. Believing the finite supply of earth’s magic is I rightfully being wasted on people who don’t deserve to wield it, he begins picking off previous students of Kamar-Taj, slowly working up his power and gaining a reputation for his actions.

Wong has taken up the duty as the Master of the New York Sanctum, but spends a lot of time at Kamar-Taj fortifying and ensuring the waypoint to the book of Vishanti is not opened by anyone else.

With the Sorcerer Supreme gone, many insist Wong take the mantle, but he refuses out of guilt (and a healthy dose of self depreciation). The mantle remains open.

Mordo, after years of collecting magic and slaying (yass) sorcerers, returns to Kamar-Taj after Stephen’s death to take the position of Sorcerer Supreme. He shows his strength by battling the forces of Kamar-Taj and overthrowing the battalions. Wong and the masters immediately have Kamar-Taj evacuated, as they know battle would be futile. They scatter to temples and safe houses around the world, leaving Mordo free to take the title of Sorcerer Supreme. He finds no use in staying at Kamar-Taj and moves into the New York Sanctum.

Wong remains at Kamar-Taj after collecting what he could from the (formerly his own) Sanctum. He protects the waypoint he and Stephen created knowing now more than ever that people would likely come looking for it.

This all happens a couple weeks after Stephen’s death/murder, so Wong is unable to contact the Illuminati or move against them. He doubts he could make a difference regardless, and hides in Kamar-Taj afraid of what the outside world is doing to Stephen’s reputation.

Christine

Because Stephen stopped being a doctor at a younger age he never really reached the peak of his arrogance because he never really became powerful enough. Thus his relationship with Christine went a lot better.

The Ancient One also teaches him to overcome his grief and guilt regarding Donna (much like 616 being taught to overcome his disability), as that’s the conflict that lead him to Kamar-Taj. Because he accepted that part of his life he was more open to letting people in and facing his fears of being loved or loving, thus he continues his relationship with Christine.

Even after becoming a sorcerer he keeps in touch with her, and the two remain in good terms. She is, of course, his emergency nurse when shit hits the fan.

After he becomes Sorcerer Supreme he teaches her some of the basics of magic in hopes it could help her to protect herself in the possibility that his mystic life put her in danger. He teaches her most about the relics, as some of them can be used regardless of wether you have magic knowledge or not

They were engaged at the time of his death.

One of the members of the Illuminati (maybe Reed?) tells her about the true story as to what happened to Stephen, believing it was morally wrong for her to think Stephen simply sacrificed himself. She feels betrayed that Stephen would turn to Dark magic so quickly despite being so against it, and is left conflicted about her feelings towards him. She cuts everything off and buries herself in her work.

Wong is too overwhelmed with the pressures at Kamar-Taj, and then the overthrowing of the mystic order to talk to her, and is too scared to leave Kamar-Taj, as well as being afraid of compromising Christine and getting her killed.

Christine contacts Tony, and starts developing tech based around the relics Stephen had given her to potentially stop another mystically dangerous event such as Stephen’s outburst from happening again. This includes holding chambers, magic absorbing handcuffs and restraints and other paraphernalia.

She comes in contact with Mordo who admires what she’s doing and allows her to use some of the more ‘useless’ relics around the New York Sanctum. She makes him a sword (which isn’t used in the re-write but appears in the og movie), and cements herself in Mordo’s good books, as he knows he can use this to continue his mission which Christine is not aware about.

She later branches out into Multiversal studies, and that’s where we find her when she appears in the re-write!

Wanda and Vision

Because Stephen killed Thanos Vision is still alive! Thus Wandavision never occurs and Wanda is doing very well.

They got married!!

Vision and Wanda are still both Avengers, and work with the variants of whoever I decide is a part of the Avengers in 838 (if I ever do), but prioritize a normal life and time together over missions.

Vision becomes aware of 616 Wanda’s dreamwalking because of his abilities with the soulstone, and is confused as to what could be happening to his wife.

Vision, not just 838 but as a concept, is a much bigger thing in my re-write. He was the soul reason why WandaVision happened, and I feel should be Wanda’s driving motivation. The children are not real, and even if they were they only exist because of Vision, thus he should be the priority.

Bits and bobs

Because Tony is alive, and half the universe didn’t disappear, 838 is far more technologically advanced than 616.

Every Sorcerer after becoming a Master of the Mystic arts gets a metallic armor piece to symbolize their ranking.

838 is a lot more experienced with magic just existing because there isn’t as big of an effort to hide the sorcerers after Stephen’s debut in the Battle of New York.

Wong 💚

Thought it was interesting to have Tony kill 838 Stephen, because it’s a vice versa to 616 and offers our Stephen a look into a possible universe where HE was the one that died. Again, his guilt regarding Infinity war/ Endgame is a huge thing in this so I thought it would be fun to add some flavor with this.

Also, wether Tony is an RDJ Tony or not is undecided. Obviously it doesn’t matter because it’s never going to be made into a movie where actual critics will blast me for disrespectfully recasting RDJ after Tony’s death, but sometimes I like to think it through as if I really am a director (and the whole team). I think that the existence of a multiverse leads to a widow where we can look at different aspects of a character that couldn’t be shown in a linear storyline, so that’s how I (unnecessarily) justify the existence of this Tony variant.

Although his suit is inspired by Superior Ironman, Tony is in no way as malicious or evil as he is. He’s only inspired by him, he isn’t the character directly. He may have some of the qualities, but nowhere near enough to be considered evil or even bad.

Well, that hurt my head to write out. I hope it doesn’t hurt yours when you read it!

Stephen had always been a mystery for his students. The man was clearly very intelligent, knew how to talk and have a conversation, knew how to debate and was a very good professor in biology. But he was always acting cold and didn’t much like to have friendly talk or whatever. Though, he would still help his students if they needed help with their homeworks or the lesson.  

Students would often try to know him personally like asking question about his life of whatever, but Stephen always avoided the questions. And even with his colleagues, he was no better. No one really knew him in his school. He only trusted two people there and it took time before he even opened to them both.

Of course, his husband, Tony, was very proud of him for that because he knew how his lover had trouble with trusting and making friends and all that ordeal. Several times, he tried to push him to befriend his own mates, but Stephen was still off even though it had been almost ten years that they had been together.  

Stephen was trying and Tony knew that, so it was enough for him. Of course, at first, Tony would always be frustrated and it had put tension into their relationship because Tony thought his boyfriend wasn’t putting a lot of efforts, thought that he didn’t care about his friends or his life in general, that he wasn’t interested. And several times, Tony thought about breaking up with him.  

But he never managed to. He loved him too much for that, he was drowned to the teacher. And with time, he also learnt that Stephen was different. That he was also feeling emotions but in different ways, showed his love with more intimate acts, more subtills ones too. He learnt that Stephen wasn’t very good at communicating either and in the end, it was fine. Tony accepted him the way he was and because of that, Stephen was also making efforts on his side.  

Now it had been almost ten years of them being together and three being married. They loved each other deeply and would never change for anyone else.

With the new pandemic, both of them were working at home, well mostly Stephen. Tony could still go to his company for some issues, but since he had a laboratory in his house, he could work his tech at home. Stephen, in his case, couldn’t go back to school and need to teach his students with online classes. Most of the time, Tony was working in his lab so Stephen was staying alone and the class wasn’t disturbed.  

But one day, Stephen didn’t really say anything to his lover because, like always, Tony went to his lab after having breakfast. Stephen came down for lunch, bringing Tony his food and staying downstairs to eat with him and talk, because one thing that Stephen liked was to talk and spend time with his little genius. After lunch was over, the professor came back to his office to start his next class. Everything went well, Stephen was happy to teach even though the condition wasn’t optimal.  

As he was listening to his student, through video call, Tony suddenly walked behind Stephen, chest naked, only a towel wrapped around his waist. Of course, it was only when his students were gasping and making shocked faces, that Stephen turned around to see what everyone was seeing. As soon as he saw his lover walking half naked behind him, Stephen’s eyes widened and covered the camera with his hand. “Tony!” He scolded him.  

The man looked at him, not having a clue of what was happening. “What? I didn’t blow up anything yet!” He defended himself. Stephen groaned at the response. “Get dressed!” He whispered yell at his husband.  

Tony looked at him, confused. “What? You love it when I'm-” That’s when Tony finally realised what this was meaning, seeing Stephen covering the camera and the screen showing some students. “Oh!” He grinned brightly. Meanwhile, the professor still had his earphones on and could hear the teenagers in his ears.

“It’s a man!”

“He has a husband!”

“God he’s hot!”

“Damn professor!”

“Is this even real?!”

“Oh my god that’s so cool!”

Of course, everyone noticed that Stephen had a ring on his finger and probably was married, but since he never talked about his private life, no one knew that he was gay. Stephen was now embarrassed enough, his cheeks were flushed, but Tony loved that. And he was a cheeky bastard, ready to embarrassed his husband even more. Getting closer, he grabbed Stephen’s wrist with one hand, pulling it away from the camera, while the other reached out for the earphones, plugging one in his own ear. “Hey kids!” Obviously he didn’t even care that he was still half naked.  

“Tony!” Stephen protested and tried to push him away. God this was very embarrassing.  

“Yeah? That’s my name.” Tony joked and looked at the screen. “Wow look at you all, hope you’re listening well because you’ve got a wonderful professor here.” He said with a wink.

“You’re so handsome!”

“Are you really married?”

“Professor Strange’s so lucky!”

“You’re so muscular!”  

Tony laughed at the students’ comments, flexing in front of them like the proud man he was. “Yeah I know, lucky bastard.” He teased and kissed Stephen’s red cheek. “Now come on, take care of him and don’t tease him too much or I’ll kick your young asses.” He continued, giving Stephen his earphone back and leaving the office with a laugh.  

It was with red cheeks and a fond smile –that he tried to hide- that Stephen finished his lesson. Oh he was sure that the whole school would know it by tomorrow. Damn Tony. Now the kids would ask even more questions about his love life.

Two hours later, Stephen was finally done with his lesson for the day. Coming back downstairs in the lab, he walked toward Tony and slapped his ass. “Hey! What was that for?” Tony asked, playing innocent.  

“You very much know. You embarrassed me in front of my students!” Stephen replied narrowing his eyes.  

“Aw come on, now they know you’re not a cold bastard without any emotions.” Tony teased with a large grin. “Now they know you’ve got a smoking hot husband that you love and that you can blush too.”  

Stephen snorted at that. “Hope you know that you can be an ass sometimes. Why did you even come in? You knew I was working.”  

“How could l know? I didn’t hear you talk so I thought you were working and listening to your music like you always do!” Tony said defending himself as best as he could.  

“You should know, genius.” Stephen continued, flickering his fingers on Tony’s forehead.  

Tony huffed but grabbed his wrist and pulled the man in for a kiss. Stephen replied to it with a hum, immediately sneaking his tongue inside Tony’s mouth, making their tongue dance together. They just made out for several minutes, exploring each other’s mouth while their hands were touching, teasing and groping all over their body. After a moment, they started to get excited, rocking their hips together, Tony pressed against his work table.  

With a groan, Stephen detached his lips from his man and pushed down his pants enough to uncover his hard shaft. “Must agree with my students, you’re hot.” Stephen winked and sank down on his knees, instantly wrapping his lips around the tip.  

“Yeah I thought so- fuck babe.” Tony replied with a moan, sliding his fingers in Stephen’s hair to hold onto something. Feeling Stephen’s warm and wet tongue on his shaft was such a bliss. For real, Tony would never get tired of having any kind of sex with his husband. They were made for each other. Of course, Stephen didn’t waste time and sucked his lover hard, head bobbing up and down, tongue swirling around the tip and pressing against the vein. Technically a sequel to The Sorcerer and The Agent

When you stepped off the jet and onto the landing, you let out a long breath of relief. That field mission was finally over. It was an early call that got you out of bed before the sun came up. Too early for your body to function, but with the encouragement of coffee and Captain Rogers forcing you out of bed, you conquered the task. You checked your phone for the time, it was now around noon. You were ready to sit down, maybe even take a nap. You desperately needed a break.

But you knew you would not be able to rest.

Tony was already on your ass. He came out of nowhere, scaring the life back into you, and shoved a tablet in your hands. "Before you file your report, you got another one."

You groaned, falling into step beside him to make your way into the building. "Already?"

Tony pushed a few things on your tablet and an image came up. It was one of the objects you had recovered from this morning's mission. On the side was a stream of jumbled letters and numbers.

"Decoding, seriously?"

Tony shrugged, with a grin on his face that you wanted to punch off. "Hey, you're best for the job."

"Can't FRIDAY just run through it?"

"Where's the fun in that?"

You glared at him.

"Come on, you got this."

You rolled your eyes, "Fine. Only because it might give us a new lead."

"Atta girl! Don't stress yourself out."

You were already stressed.

"Oh and by the way, someone in the lounge is here to see you."

After a brief moment of surprise, you knew who it was. Tony saw the smile appear on your face, then winked at you. You rolled your eyes at him.

You tucked the tablet under your arm and made your way to the lounge. Maybe you were getting a little break before continuing for the day after all. A small amount of energy that came from your happiness pushed you forwards.

When you got there, sure enough, there he was.

"Hey, I thought you might want coffee."

You chuckled. Of course you wanted coffee.

Stephen Strange had a coffee tray in his hands that had two cups in it. He was standing around looking a little awkward, a little out of place at the compound. He looked relived to see you, as if anyone else in the doorway would made him embarrassed. His serious demeanor was no where in sight, a hint of warmth in his cheeks.

He wasn't wearing his sorcerer robes, but casual clothes. A jacket, dark jeans, sneakers, a t-shirt, simple things that you got to see him in more often now. You liked it. Very much.

Without any hesitation, you made your way over to him. Giving him a big smile the entire way. You put your tablet down so you could take the cup he was holding out for you. "Thank you." Your gloved hands brushed against his bare shaking ones. The contact was enough to widen your smile.

"Don't mention it."

"Hi! How are you? What's new?" You asked him, leaning one hand on a table and sipping your coffee with the other.

Stephen let out a breath, "Well this morning I helped to try and close a dimensional rip in space time. If we hadn't managed to close it then it would have swallowed an entire country."

"Sounds exciting, Doctor." You hid a smirk behind a look of playfully exaggerated interest.

"Oh it was." He was trying to hide a smirk too, "How about you, Agent (L/N)?" His cheek twitched, trying desperately to not let that smirk slide through.

"Well I just came back from a mission in London where an very well hidden Hydra base was found. There were a few of their agents there, kicked some ass, and managed to recover some of their tech and files. You know, normal things."

"This is a very casual conversation despite its content." He commented.

You both broke after that, smirks turning into fits of chuckles. You reached up and kissed him on the cheek.

The two of you were developing into a 'thing' recently. Whenever he would come to the compound, you would have your eye on him. And you could feel his eye on you as well. It had been going back and forth for a while, finding excuses to talk to each other and purposely being in the same room as one another. Casual attraction.

You noticed the little details in him. Taking every opportunity to make a snarky comment during meetings. Dedication and a 'cool calm' overtaking him whenever disusing anything serious. His gaze of sparkling blue, sharp features, and welcoming smile. The very presence of him either made your heart stop or quicken, sometimes both simultaneously.

Whenever you were both having a conversation, whether for work or just friendly chatter, you found yourself entranced by him. His voice, his gorgeous face, his personality. Not casual attraction anymore, you were sightly obsessed.

But there was always this look in his eyes, that he recognized your attraction to him. And a look that told you he had similar emotions. You just knew it. You paid attention to him. You noticed him paying attention to you with interest, catching him staring on occasion.

Things had went from zero to one hundred at a party that Tony threw last week. You had a little too much to drink. Stephen did too. You found yourselves alone. Things escalated from there. You woke up the next morning in his bed in the New York sanctum, cuddled in his arms. You both went out for breakfast that morning. He took you out for dinner a day after.

Ever since then, he shows up at the compound when he can, or calls you to ask how you are doing. Work for both of you has gotten pretty busy lately so finding time to go out together was hard. But you promised each other another date as soon as you both were free.

This was a long time coming, you both knew that. All it took was one little push. But you did not expect that push to be a little alcohol. It happened anyways, so you decided to take it without complaints.

Stephen looked around, making sure no one else was in the room to intrude. After confirming, he leaned down and stole a kiss from you. You giggled and let him, leaning up into him. He pulled away to let you have another sip of your coffee.

He wasn't drinking from his own cup. You felt his eyes on you. It did not take long to figure out why. You were still in your uniform, one that is similar to Natasha's. Black bodysuit, weapons belt. Skin tight. A blush crept up on your face, some memories coming back from that night. He has seen you wearing this before, but now his gaze had a different weight to it.

"Liking the view, Strange?" You asked with a raised eyebrow and mischief glittering in your eyes.

He shrugged, "Now that I know what it all looks like, I like the view even more." Casual. Calm. Cocky.

You playfully smacked him on the shoulder, bringing his hint of a smile into light. Tucking the tablet under your arm, coffee in one hand and Stephen's own hand in another, you pulled him over to one of the couches. The two of you sat down. "I have a little tech and paperwork to do right now. You're welcome to stay while I do it, if you're free."

He relaxed beside you, an arm slinging over the back of the couch. "I've got time. Wong is watching the Sanctum, I have the afternoon off."

"Maybe if I finish early we can go out?" You asked with a perky smile.

He gestured to your open tablet. "Better get to work then." You laughed, quickly kissed him, and did get to work. You explained to him your tasks, the decoding you needed to do and then fill out your mission report file. He seemed interested, looking over your shoulder the whole time as you explained your process. He watched you complete the decoding, send the results to the cloud, and start typing away at your morning's mission report.

Stephen's presence behind you the entire time was comforting, taking away some of the stress of your busy work. His warmth and the smell of coffee in the air made you content. You felt him start to fiddle with the tails of your hair, you jokingly swatting him away before he went right back to it.

During the breakfast date, and the dinner date, you saw more little things about him you liked. There was curiosity and interest in his eyes. Behind that serious shell was gentleness and kindness, a full heart who thinks for others. It was like after that night, you got to see the real Stephen Strange, not the Sorcerer Supreme. He was a gentle lover, even drunk, making sure you were comfortable the entire time. Eating out together, he was a gentleman. Seeing him around the compound, he seemed to be smiling more.

You never knew the great Doctor Stephen Strange was a total softy. It made you like him even more.

While writing, you found yourself putting extra care into reviewing the mission and its details. This may have been caused by knowing Stephen was watching your every move and you wanted to make a good impression of your work ethic. You made sure to skim through for any mistakes or typos in your writing as well. After some time, discarded cups on the coffee table and Stephen now subtly nuzzling your neck, you submitted your report.

"Do you have to do that after every mission?" The man who was practically wrapping his entire body around yours on the couch asked.

"Yeah. That was one of the longer ones. Most things were more straightforward this time around, but I did a lot in London today." You heaved a sigh, momentary wiggled out of Stephen's arms to plunk your tablet down on the coffee table, and relaxed back into the couch.

"Have anything else to do?" He asked.

"Not currently." You turned to him, now giving him your full attention. He seemed to like it.

"Well then, maybe you and me can go grab lunch?"

"I'd like that."

You watched his eyes dip down, briefly glancing at your lips before looking back up at your eyes. You caught him. This told you what he was thinking about, and soon you were thinking about it yourself. And then you were doing it. One of his hands rested on your cheek, the other found your waist as he kissed you. Your hands tangled around his neck and up into his hair gently.

It was like you lost track of time. You just focused on Stephen, a hand of his running over the fabric of your tight uniform.

"I'm glad Tony threw that party."

You and Stephen urgently parted at the interruption. Standing in the doorway, Steve and Natasha had smug grins. They were still in their uniforms from the mission, Steve's shield strapped across his back. You groaned.

When you told only one person that you went home with Stephen that night, it had spread through the compound like wildfire. Your coworkers all knew, and they were relieved. Finally, they had said. You must have not noticed how obvious you and Stephen's electric stares and intrigued chatter were.

You were a little embarrassed at being caught making out, but the embarrassment practically radiated off Stephen. He immediately straightened upright and cleared his throat. Apparently he did not show his vulnerable side to anyone but you, him instantly clicking back into a neutral expression when facing someone else.

Nat got right to the point, ignoring the irritated look on your face, "We got a new lead. There was a new location marked in one of their files found in London. Venice. We leave in thirty."

A frown glazed your features. You were really looking forward to spending some time with Stephen again. You looked at Stephen, who shared a mutual disappointed look in his eyes. But you knew that he would go let you work. It was annoying.

It wouldn't hurt to ask. Would it?

You stood up from the couch, grabbing your tablet to pull up your report again. You strided towards your bosses, a lick of confidence in your posture.

"Um actually I was kinda hoping if I could get the rest of the day off." You sang.

Steve let out a breath in a smug laugh, while Nat was hiding one of her own.

With a smile, you handed Nat your tablet, the mission report on the screen. Clean, detailed, care put into it, reflecting your hard work you had accomplished all morning. You saw her eyes look it over, the captain leaning in to do the same.

"You did work hard this morning." Steve pointed out.

"And you did eventually save our asses in the end." Nat added.

As you said to Stephen earlier, you did kick ass during the mission.

You gave them a look of hope. It was obvious what you wanted, they both knew it. For some reason you felt like they were lengthening the moment to tease you. To leave you in anticipation.

After what felt like minutes instead of seconds, the two turned to each other and exchanged expressions. Steve nodded. Natasha handed back your tablet.

"Go play with your sorcerer and his magic hands." Natasha whispered to you with a wink. A deep blush crept up onto your neck, and you saw her smirk. Scrunching your face up in a mock sneer, you snatched your tablet back.

"Have fun, you two." Steve said as a goodbye, and him and Natasha left the lounge to get ready for part two of today's investigation.

You turned back to Stephen. He had an impressed look on his face. Now standing, he threw away your empty coffee cups in a nearby bin."You didn't have to do that, you know."

"Too bad. Already did." You shrugged, sauntering back over to stand in front of him.

Stephen gave you a smile, and opened a slingring portal right in front of you both. "Then lets go."

You put down your tablet and went to empty your weapons belt. "I'm still in uniform, Stephen." You laughed, "I should go change first."

The sorcerer snapped his fingers, and your skintight Avengers uniform turned into a pair of leggings and a blouse. An outfit Stephen had complimented you on last week. You were surprised he remembered it.

You rolled your eyes at him, and before you could say anything, he grabbed your hand and pulled you through the portal.

Heyy! I love your blog, It really helps me when I'm sad, so thank you! I was wondering, how do you think Stephen felt and is feeling with Tony's death? Considering that ironstrange is canon (at least for me haha). Thank you very much!

Now, in regards to the question. A little disclaimer: whatever I write here may be heavily influenced by many fics. And, seeing as this is an open-ended question, my opinions/views may differ from someone else's, and if that's true, I'm open to discuss ;)

I've also answered an ask a while back that was talking about Stephen's (predictably, one-sided) feelings towards Tony during Endgame, and I've just assumed that (due to the millions of timelines he endured/looked through), he fell in love with every version of Tony there is, with how selfless the man is, etc. (We consider that canon here btw) And I think last time anon asked specifically about Stephen's feelings when he lifted his finger to Tony in the movie, which was hella sad tbh, for us IronStrange shippers at least :p (You can check out that specific ask here)

And ofc, right after those few moments, Marvel decided to kill Tony off (the AUDACITY). And I'm sure, in this case, not only Stephen was affected by his death; that includes Pepper, Peter, the rest of the avengers, too. Everyone basically :v But, one thing I'd just like to point out, is that he actually expected it. He looked through those million timelines, and he knew that this was the only outcome that requires the least damage (even if that damage comes in the form of Tony's death T-T). And, if I were to put myself in Steph's shoes, like any of us, I'd feel guilty. And I know he does, too. Even if it isn't exactly his fault (he had no other choice, anyway). And it's even sadder when you remember that he also blames himself for Donna's death, so it must've felt like history repeated itself from his side.

Handling with grief is horrible, it could do so much to a person, to the point that it may become too.... dangerous, sometimes (if how Marvel pictures grief in WandaVision is anything to go by. Kidnapping/enslaving a whole town is, btw, very very wrong, but that's a discussion for another time). But handling grief and guilt is an entirely different thing. The thought of knowing that someone's death was caused by you, someone's life was gone because of you, that burden may never cease from his shoulders. Even the very thought of it is horrifying, I couldn't imagine having to endure it.

And I know that, as a sorcerer, Stephen has duties he needs to fulfill (even if he isn't sorcerer supreme anymore), so he knew he had to survive. And what I mean by this is that, he knew the world still needed him, reality still needed saving, however broken he may be. (Gives a new definition to 'It's not about you', eh?) And though he knew his existence is the reason those two people have gone, the thought of not existing in the first place isn't a better thought, either. So he survived. He endured. He persisted. And that's just.... it's just sad. The once arrogant and big-headed man (still is, actually, but not as bad) is now (quite discreetly) very selfless. And I say 'selfless' because we all know he's done a lot of sacrifices. (Dormammu, using the time stone and meddling with laws of nature, manipulating time, whatever shit he did for Peter in NWH, you mention it.) And in this case, one of his sacrifices is having to endure the guilt of choosing the right timeline. The timeline where the snap, soon followed by the blip, happened, and then leading to so much deaths, and the inevitable climax of Tony's. And I know Steph blames himself for every part of it. The trauma, the grief, the lost time, the deaths, everything. He blames himself for it.

So, if you'd ask me, how would he deal with it? How would he cope? He doesn't. He doesn't because he doesn't have time for it (though he may be a little lost on the concept of time by now), what with all the stuff he needs to do as sorcerer, probably. The world, the reality, depended (and is depending) on him. And it's too much to risk for something like grief, coping, healing, or any of the such.

Which is why, I think, he must've been surprised when Peter, the boy that had to endure all the wrong things he did, came to his sanctum, to him, for help. So, of course, without hesitation, he had accepted. He had provided. Even if that meant all the... stuff that happened in NWH. (wince)

So yeah, that covers pretty much it. Wew, this became a bit of a rant, did it? I guess I'll stop this here.

How would one write a realistic argument?

How to Write a Realistic Argument

Everyone argues.

Whether it be with a friend, sibling, parent, or coworker—arguments usually break out whenever there’s a stark contrast in opinion over certain things, which can happen a lot.

There are a variety of different kinds of arguments involving a wide range of people with different tempers. Because of this, writing arguments can be a bit difficult, but fear not, for this post is here to help!

1. Know The Writing Style of an Argument

For a very serious argument, the characters probably won’t stop and listen to what their opponent has to say.

It’s quick, choppy, and broken—each character shoving their emotions at one another and trying to get their point across without bothering to understand the other side’s opinions.

There should be a lot of em-dashes and italicized words for emphasis, and if it’s between two people, you want as few speech tags as possible; because there’s going to be a lot of back and forth, speech tags can serve to trip up the flow of the argument rather than help them.

When you do want speech tags or if there are multiple people arguing at once here’s some examples you can use:

Roared

Screamed

Yelled

Bellowed

Barked

Hissed

Shouted

Accused

Interrupted

Growled

Snarled

Spat

Screeched

Shrilled

But you also must know that your characters won’t just be standing stock still and yelling at one another; they’re going to be moving around, so here are some things you can describe your character doing during an argument

Expression contorting

Eyes narrowing

Speaking through clenched teeth

Baring their teeth

Lips twisting (into a sneer/into a snarl)

Hands balling into fists

Trembling

Breaking things/knocking stuff over

Pointing accusingly

Shoving

Spittle flying from their mouth

Stamping their feet

Face getting hot

Vein in forehead popping

Blood roaring in their ears/heart pounding

And if you want, to build tension you can put it in a dangerous place, like at the edge of a cliff or something—so you know fully well that if one of them goes too far it may end up with the other’s accidental death.

2.Know Your Characters

The most important factors of your argument are the characters participating in it.

You should have your characters’ tempers established beforehand so you know if they’re going to be hanging back while others argue or if they’re going to be throwing hands every other chapter.

Your characters’ tempers will shape how much tension the argument causes.

An argument with someone who is usually chill and slow to anger will be a whole lot more impactful and important than an argument with someone who is a known hothead, but it wouldn’t make sense if the argument happened over something minor.

Here’s a list of some of the tempers your character can have, ranked from lowest to highest on how much tension an argument with them causes

 (Just so you know, these aren’t rigid categories; most people are usually a mix of everything!):

–Hotheaded Character–

Fights with a hothead hold the least tension. 

Hotheads will fight over anything and everything, their quick fuse making them easy to irritate and anger. Their words can hurt people who aren’t used to it, but usually bounce off of close friends who are used to it and know that the hothead usually doesn’t mean it.

Arguments with hotheads have a high chance of turning physical, because their rage explodes in bursts rather than a slow buildup (the definition of going from zero to one hundred), and in any situation, hotheads are usually the ones to throw the first punch.

 Because a hothead could get riled up about a spilled drink just as quickly as they can get riled up about a friend dying, just having a hothead getting angry during a moment of severe tension won’t bring you the umph that you’re looking for.

However, your hotheaded character can serve as an instrumental character in triggering more serious arguments, one of their mindless snide remarks going too far with a level-headed or shy character.

Examples of hotheaded characters:

Stanley Kowalski, A Streetcar Named Desire by Tennessee Williams

Lt. Tom ‘Iceman’ Kazansky, Top Gun (1986)

Anger, Inside Out (2015)

–Aloof Character–

These characters are a lot like hotheads, but the many, many fights that they pick don’t involve them getting raging, screaming mad.

They’re cold, calculating, and cutthroat, and they couldn’t care less about what you think of them.

Their anger is a lot less “loose cannon” than the hotheads’. They say what they mean and mean what they say, and it’ll take a long time to recover from the tongue-lashings these people can dish out.

The greater tension, however, comes from when the aloof characters raise their voices and start shouting—their schooled, uncaring façade fades away and they’re left truly and undeniably angered by whatever tipped the scales.

It’s not too tension-building because these characters were just bastards to begin with, but it’s still unnerving and shocking to see a normally collected character lose their cool.

Examples of aloof characters:

Mr. Darcy, Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen

Prince Cardan, The Cruel Prince by Holly Black

Alex Stern, The Ninth House by Leigh Bardugo

Sherlock Holmes, Most Media Types

Tony Stark, The Avengers

–Nonchalant Character–

These people usually don’t engage in meaningful arguments because they literally don’t care enough to bother. 

When another character tries to pick a fight, a character who is more nonchalant will sometimes roll their eyes at whatever accusation is being leveled at them rather than retorting. This can go either way, perhaps escalating the tension or diffusing it by not offering up a reply.

Kind of like with the aloof character, they don’t have any emotional attachment arguments that they start or are dragged into. They’ll argue for the sake of arguing, but they really don’t give a fuck about it. 

The part that draws the tension, however, is when the characters do give a fuck. A fight they get into turns heated, and a character’s normal devil-may-care attitude may morph into something else altogether.

Most nonchalant characters also may exhibit some hotheaded tendencies, which shows how muddles these archetypes can be.

Examples of Nonchalant Characters:

Han Solo, The Star Wars Saga

Deadpool, Deadpool (2016)

Angel Dust, The Hazbin Hotel

–Level-headed/Stoic Character–

These characters are the cool cucumbers of the group. They’re very, very, VERY slow to anger, and usually exhibit more maturity than their peers, almost never starting arguments. 

They’re the masters of diffusing arguments with a few words, and hardly ever raise their voices.

Sure, they may serve as backup to someone else and may jump to their aid with a bit of heat behind their words, but this hardly happens when the argument is their own.

Many hotheaded or aloof characters may try teasing or pushing these characters in order to act out, but it rarely works.

On the few instances that a level-headed character is angered, it is pretty serious.

Either one of the other characters poked fun at something they shouldn’t’ve—their dead parents, something they’re self-conscious about, etc.—or a member of the group makes a terrible mistake with dire consequences, and the stoic character has had enough.

This causes a lot of tension because “oh shit, the calmest person in our group just went off” and can usually signal a breakdown of the group because their strongest link is snapping.

Examples of Stoic Characters:

Geralt of Rivia, The Witcher

The Mandalorian, The Mandalorian

Spock, Star Trek

The Doctor, Doctor Who

Atticus Finch, To Kill A Mockingbird

–Timid/Shy/Quiet Character– 

An argument with a timid person causes by far the most tension out of everything, to the point where I call it “The Snap.”

Someone who is timid, shy, or quiet would rather not argue at all because they don’t have it in them to retort.

They may care a whole lot about the situation under contention, but for one reason or another they don’t want to start too much trouble. These people actively avoid conflict and usually try their best to diffuse situations before they start, whether it be by conceding, walking away, or pulling the nonchalant route and not saying anything.

However, unlike the stoic characters, they might be much more emotional; it wouldn’t be out of the ordinary for a timid character to cry when being berated by the others, and they may even be outwardly livid, but they always back down in the end.

 However, they can only hold it in for so long.

 If you have a character who spends the entire book meekly accepting the verbal (or perhaps physical) harassment of other characters, you should most definitely put a “Snap” somewhere in the story, a point where the character has had enough and fights back.

 The timid character’s pent-up rage and sorrow explodes into a raging argument that will most definitely frighten the other characters.

 The tipping point may be the death of the loved one or just a simple, ordinary jab from an antagonist—the straw that broke the camel’s back.

 Unlike with the hothead’s quick bursts of anger like snap fireworks, the anger of a quiet character—much like with a stoic character—is like ten thousand pounds of dynamite with a very, very long fuse.

A quiet character will almost never have a contained argument once they’ve snapped; it will be like a category five hurricane, and God help the poor bastard that set it off.

Examples of timid/shy/quiet characters:

Carrie White, Carrie by Stephen King

Amélie Poulain,  Amélie (2001)

Bilbo Baggins, The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkein

3. Know The Rhythm of An Argument

An argument isn’t just 0 to 100 and then back to 0. 

The tension levels look more like a squiggly line than a single spike; the tension peaks and ebbs on various levels throughout an argument, especially if it’s a long, important one where both characters are snapping over a novel’s worth of building tension.

The argument can come in like a freight train or it can build up slowly, a character storming in after a realization or a single snide remark that snowballs into something much greater.

Then comes an accusation. Both characters brace themselves and realize that this argument isn’t just going to putter out.

More back and forth words exchanged. “I don’t like that you do this, this and this,” while the characters’ tempers flare even further, pushing them to say more extreme, hurtful things and working each other up into a rage.

A physical fight may break out between the two, throwing punches and insults.

The climax should be a huge, shocking exclamation or accusation. “I hate you!” “If you were never born, Mom would still be alive!” “This is all your fault!”

The tension ebbs. The characters stand in silence, bitter and ashamed of themselves.

They may agree on a few things, their tempers start to die down. They may come to some understandings or storm off with the tension unresolved. The argument ends.

This is the basic format of an argument; however, there are usually several levels of accusation-buildup before the eventual climax.

The whole point of an argument is that it leaves the characters’ relationships much different than they’d been before; they either understand each other much more, or they’ve become much more wary of one another.

If your characters’ relationship doesn’t change after an argument, then there was no point in writing it.

Non Spoiler Review of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (spoiler stuff below the cut)

I'm so lucky I live in a country that released the movie early so, here goes:

OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG!!!!! I LOVE IT SOOOO MUCH! As soon as it ended, I want to watch it again! The music is awesome (as expected from Danny Elfman) and the horror parts, oh the horror parts, Sam Raimi... damn!

I love how it ended one part of Stephen's life and open it up to another phase. It was *chef's kiss*

As for Wanda, it is a continuation of WandaVision and she's awesome!

America Chavez was fun to watch. Though she can be fleshed out more in the future, the foundation is there. Let's just say, Stephen and Wong just adopted a child.

As we all know, there are other versions of Strange in this movie and I love how our Strange learns things about himself through them that pays off in the end.

I really enjoyed watching it and I can't wait for the digital release cause I want to comb over everything because I'm sure there are Easter eggs I missed.

I've seen people say Wanda seems very different here compared to the ending of WandaVision but they seem to forget that she has the Darkhold and we know it corrupts a person so of course she's gonna be different.

I'm sooooo happy Tom Cruise is NOT in this movie and I really hope he won't be in the MCU as alternate Tony Stark. RDJ is THE Tony Stark for me, even if he's from another universe. Don't care what haters think.

I love how the two Stranges fought using music! It made me all giddy when they did that. Other people might think it's cheesy/corny but this is a comic book movie. It's just the way it is.

Kinda little bit disappointed with the Illuminati not because the cameos aren't awesome it's just, they died so easily. But then again, they were against the Scarlet Witch so... Captain Carter and Monica Rambeau Captain Marvel is amazing though! I hope since the Incursion started, we'll see more of them. I think the reason why I was a bit disappointed is because I thought they're a multiversal Illuminati when they're actually just in one universe. My speculation turned to expectation. That's on me. I should've managed my expectations.

Oh the Incursion started!!! Here comes Clea!!! Can't wait for this! I think this movie perfectly ushers us towards Secret Wars.

Okay okay. Since you’re asking for ultimate favorites, but since you’re also in a sense kind of asking for recommendations, I’ll do you a solid and give you a list of fifteen (which is really doing myself a solid because it means there are fewer that I have to narrow down).

1. More Ancient Than Magic by @ironfamjam 

This is a mini Hogwarts AU that I absolutely ADORE and think about at least once a week. The way the author melds the two universes is incredible and so well done, and I quote it all the time.  One-shot, IronFam centric, featuring Ned and MJ, with special guest appearances from the other Avengers and Peter’s classmates. No major warnings. 

2. Everybody Loves Skip by @baloobird

Okay, Kris is my favorite MCU fanfic author of all time, so you’ll see her on here a couple of times. This is by far my favorite story of hers, and it’s what made me fall in love with Interwebs. <3 <3  Multichapter, Peter centric, featuring Ace!Peter and Interwebs, with special guest appearances from Tony, May, and Tracy Leeds. I read this story as a part of last year’s Irondad Big Bang, and let me tell you, I was SOOO invested. I got to the point where I had to send in play by play reactions because I was so emotionally invested. 4. Come, My Darling, Homeward Bound by @i-am-irondad

ANOTHER Irondad Big Bang 2020 story that I became OVERLY invested in to the point that I had to send play by plays in to the author. It’s a Room AU, and she NAILS each and every one of the character dynamics. I never even saw Room, and I loved it. <3  Multichapter, Tony, Peter, and Morgan centric, featuring the rest of IronFam, Spideychelle, and adorable sibling moments, with special guest appearances from Quentin Beck and my tears. Minor implied sexual harassment/non-con. (She also has a prequel and a sequel, just so you know.) 

5. The Lightning Strike by @booksxtvxsupernatural

Yet ANOTHER Irondad Big Bang 2020 story that hit me right in the feels. This is a canon-divergent post-Infinity War fic, and the way the author shows how events could’ve transpired is so realistic and beautiful. <3  One-shot, Tony and Peter centric, featuring Harley Keener and Nebula, with special guest appearances from IronFam, May Parker, and several other Avengers. 

6. Family Doesn’t End with Blood by @baloobird

This is one of her more recent ones, but it’s one of my faves, even with all the whump (being Whumptober and all). It has a positive ending, I promise.  One-shot, Tony and Peter centric, featuring amazing BFF Michelle Jones, protective Peter Parker, and adorable little sister Morgan Stark, with special guest appearances from Pepper Potts, May Parker, and a lot of family love and support. This was yet another Irondad Secret Santa 2019 fic, and while this one wasn’t written specifically for me, I freaking loved it. There’s so much tension and mystery in this, and I seriously thought I was gonna pass out reading it from all of my worry. This one was posted on FF.net, and it was actually one of the first Tony and Peter stories I ever read, and it BLEW me away. Hi friend! You seem vast in your knowledge of Stephen and willing to share so please enlighten me as I don’t read the comics but I do watch the mcu movies, and do love Stephen.

I know he’s erratic and impulsive and reckless sometimes but didnt we already complete this arc in his first movie? Especially since we’ve watched him deal with the consequences of his actions for the entirety of the film and end of the movie Stephen was a different Stephen from the beginning of the movie.

IW Stephen seemed like a more mature version of the man we’ve met at the end of his first movie, a linear progression of the character, more responsible.

The spider man trailer is just a few minutes so I’ll further reserve judgment till I see the film, but he seems.. silly almost? I’m aware he has his funny moments but I’m just nervous they’re gonna make him the joke instead of having him make the jokes.

Do you notice anything weird about how the adults act in these newer marvel projects.? (I’m thinking of loki specifically) they all have a silly undertone to them? I cant put my finger on it but it’s definitely new and ..off

Is this a constant characterization for Stephen in the comics? Is this what he’s like all the time?

Oh yeah, Stephen's my favorite subject at the moment so I'm happy to give my thoughts!

Note that my answers apply to MCU!Stephen and what we've seen in the four films he's been in.

I know he’s erratic and impulsive and reckless sometimes but didnt we already complete this arc in his first movie? Especially since we’ve watched him deal with the consequences of his actions for the entirety of the film and end of the movie Stephen was a different Stephen from the beginning of the movie.

In my experience of just living, there are personality quirks that can be tempered out and made better, but not entirely eliminated, even if it's undesirable. In my opinion, Stephen's need to push himself and prove that he can Do A Thing is a trait that won't ever go away--especially as that trait has helped him more than hindered him. Examples would include the more mundane such as getting through a combined MD/PhD program and inventing surgical procedures at what is still a really young age for a neurosurgeon. We don't have a canonical age for Stephen, but Benedict was 40 when Doctor Strange was filmed and released; even if he's canonically in his mid-40s, that's still very young for him to be at his caliber after the necessary years of med school and residency in the United States. He's young and nowhere near the end of his career when he gets in the car crash. So with that information in mind, we know that he's very ambitious and throws himself into doing difficult work with gusto. That doesn't even go into everything he did as a sorcerer.

Why get into all of this? Because while we, the viewer who has seen the multiverse open at... some point (possibly, in a rewritten timeline, it's always been open now with what happened in Loki!), we have seen just how nuts it gets. We have seen the consequences. Stephen's smart, but I don't think it's a matter of strictly recklessness and more a combination of ignorance on this specific subject (erasing memories across the world or slightly rewriting time-- we don't know how he's doing it, but a memory spell makes more sense to me), hubris (of course), and the real desire to help Peter out. The latter two traits combined in intelligent people have proven bad in both fiction and reality.

The reason I don't think it's pure impulsiveness is because in the trailer, we see Stephen doing some meditation type thing in the underground area before the spell. He's also always doing research and as he tells Peter he'll help him, he clearly knows of a spell already and has some working knowledge of how it works. The conversation with Wong wouldn't have happened otherwise. But I personally get the vibe off him that he'd not do it without being very confident that he can do it -- and his history in the films has shown 0 failures in any of his spells once he's past novice-level, so in that aspect, his confidence makes sense. If he *should* do the spell due to the risks of failure, and lack of practicing precaution in the face of his confidence, is where his flaws lie, IMO. And in that sense people could say he was reckless for deciding to perform a complicated, dangerous spell, but that follows his M.O. completely -- he performed a very complicated, dangerous spell consistently with the Time Stone again and again, from how the sorcerers spoke about the Infinity Stone (and he casually just... throws himself into a time loop, then to look through time. He takes calculated risks, but they are very much risks).

One last thought on this statement - the biggest, biggest lesson that Stephen learned in his first film was that it was not about him. There was more to the world than his glory and his brilliance and even his happiness. He started doing things for the greater good rather than himself. And he started doing things for others -- fighting for the Sanctum in his own film, and protecting the Earth. Serving something greater than himself. But that doesn't make him suddenly humble, and it doesn't suddenly take away his strange (hah) sense of humor.

He was more serious in that film. So was Tony. They still had some quips and arguments, but they were very serious. And it makes sense as to why -- it was the end of the world. So the mood of the setting would change anyone's demeanour. But he had very little chance to unwind in that film, considering that he was trying to protect one of six items that would destroy the universe, and also got freaking tortured in the middle of the film with little time to recover. But nearly every Avenger was super serious in that film, and for good reason.

It's a completely different setting from what is now Stephen's life which, from what little we've seen in the trailer, is weird enough that he got a magical snowstorm in the Sanctum. It's safe enough that Wong's off on vacation. It's been nearly a year since he returned from the dead. He's either figured out how to move on in the last year or, as some prefer, has gotten good enough to put on a facade and bury the trauma so far down that he's putting on a normal act - but that's up to debate until MoM. And we have no idea if old traumas are going to be brought up there or if it's just the new things.

I think the point is that it's possible to be both a responsible person and also to make colossal mistakes due to either emotional connections or hubris (or both - we don't know which way the film will go, if they'll explain it at all). They're not mutually exclusive. He can be protecting reality fantastically, while also believing that he's skilled enough to pull off the ability to pull off a dangerous spell which he did in his own film and in IW. He's guided the timeline down a specific path in IW/Endgame, after all - what's a little identity item compared to the fate of the universe, after all? Removing the Spider-Man/Peter association is, in comparison, child's play I imagine to a man like Stephen.

He was definitely silly in his own film. He was constantly trying to get Wong to laugh and there was a banter between Stephen and Christine after he gets stabbed. He's always been a bit awkward and a bit jokey--I think Thor showed that combination of humorous snark and good research rather well, though he was flippant in a way that didn't get to show his kinder side that is better established in his film. And now we get to see that sympathy in his agreement to help Peter (at least, in my opinion).

Because he was doing an amazing awesome spell not once, not twice, but *three* times in the trailer alone, I am not worried about Stephen just being a joke. He seems just as powerful as he was in IW and Endgame. The rest of the world is just getting reminded that he's definitely a bit of a socially awkward duck at times (or, if you prefer, Putting On a "I'm Fine" Front And It's Coming Across As Weird). So him being a big joke is not something I am personally worried about.

Situational humor has been a staple of Marvel films since Iron Man. I watched the films casually before 2016 when I fell head deep into Stephen Strange (or well, 2018/9 is more accurate as that's when I *really* went nuts), and my viewings before that time and after that time was a lot more analytical. And it's very easy to see where the silliness started, all the way back when Tony crashed into his own car and Dum-E sprayed him with a fire extinguisher. Thor was the butt of the joke in the "fish out of water" scene in a good, good chunk of the film. Even Captain America had some situational humor. And remember that Guardians of the Galaxy was back in 2014, which was halfway through the MCU's time thus far. The stars of these films are almost always the butt of some joke a couple times and do things that could be viewed as childish.

I don't know your age at all, but if you were born after 1990, what might be happening, rather, is that they are not getting sillier, but that you may be getting older. I was an adult (legally, at least) in 2008, but the way I view the adults of the films throughout the early 2010s as compared to now is night and day. It's just come with my own life experience, and wider understanding to media tropes. The jump is even more significant if you were younger in Iron Man/Avengers days and are an adult now. If you're an older adult than me, then I'd argue it's the matter of life experience adding to your overall knowledge of media plus, potentially, rose-tinted glasses giving you a better vision of the older movies while forgetting that the older movies had plenty of their own flaws (and silliness). Could be a lot of things- it's too individual to really say why your perspective has changed. But I don't think the MCU's largely changed their comedy formula since 2012/2013.

Is this a constant characterization for Stephen in the comics? Is this what he’s like all the time?

Oh the comics are a mess of characterizations. It's very difficult to find full consistency across writers, and some writers did him much better than others. At the moment, Jason Aaron's 2015 run is viewed as very good by a large amount of fans, while Waid's 2018 run is viewed with mixed reviews. It's largely a matter of preference as you'll see traits that are just so uncharacteristic in an arc and then it never happens again. He takes on secret identities, he kills billions to save trillions (along with the other Avengers!), he sells his soul, he's in a steady relationship for 30 years, then he's sleeping with a new woman every arc he co-stars in-- it's just so dependent on the writer over the decades. What Marvel thinks will sell. Right now Marvel thinks his death is gonna sell issues, so yeah :P You pick and choose with the comics and build a personality from there.

Dr Strange and the Multiverse of Madness - My thoughts and feelings

Today me and one of my friends went to go see MOM and let me tell you it was an experience. It was really interesting movie and really different from a lot of marvel movies that have come before it (a huge part of this is due to Sam Rami’s directing). Overall I thought it was really strong and it’s probably a top 10 marvel movie for me.

Below are spoilers, so if you haven’t seen the movie yet I’d skip this post.

1.) Cinematography: I’m personally a sucker for a movie with good cinematography and it’s something I typically notice in movies and pay close attention. I had feeling that with the multiverse, Strange’s, Wanda’s and America’s powers we’d get some interesting visuals and boy does that feel like an understatement. I thought that some really strong visuals were created and were like nothing we’d really seen in the MCU up until this point. Some of my personal favorites included the music fight scene, Strange and America falling through the different universes and the reflection scene. I really hope we continue to see marvel take some more creative risks like the ones we saw in this movie.

2.) The Horror Story Vibe - Going into the movie I had heard that aspects of this movie reminded people of horror films and it was probably marvels scariest movie to date. I wasn’t expecting it to be the level that it was and I wasn’t expecting to enjoy it as much as I did. There were multiple times where jump scares or some of the scenes got to me and I knew they were coming. I thought this darker tone and horror vibe worked really well for the movie and helped make it as strong as it was. I think utilizing some of those horror tropes or techniques elevated some of the scenes and added a new twist that made the scenes play out in a way different then what I was expecting.

3.) America Chavez: I was little concerned that with all of the chaos America’s introduction would get lost in the shuffle in this large scale movie, but thank god I was proved wrong. I thought they handled her introduction really well and she really held her own with characters like Strange, Wanda and Christine.

As for the actual character of America I loved her. I didn’t know too much about her going into the movies, I knew a bit from my readings of the Young Avengers comics but that was a view years ago so I was really going in blind and didn’t have strong feelings about her. I thought Xochitl Gomez it was phenomenal I’m her portrayal of the character. I also really liked her relationship with Steven and how well they played off each other. Her powers also intrigued my as for what they mean for the future of the MCU and what they can do and explore. I’m excited to see how they continue her story in the feature and it makes me cautiously optimistic that we might get a Young Avengers story as a movie or show.

4.) Stephen Strange: I’m going to be honest, I didn’t love the first Dr. Strange movie and I felt nothing but indifference for him through Infinity War and Endgame. But this movie and Spider-Man No Way Home really changed my perception of him. In the past two movies his character has seemed way more organic and natural and the writing is a lot better then what he was getting in his early movies (at least in my opinion). I was really surprised how good he was in a mentor type role. We had seen mentors appear a couple of times now with Tony and Clint and only one of those were well done (hint it’s not Tony), so I was a bit nervous about how these interactions would go and I was pleasantly surprised. They’ve developed his character where it makes sense at this point and he’s moved past some of the arrogance that would’ve caused issues had they done it earlier.

I thought that each universes Strange felt like they were connected but where different enough that they felt like individuals to that specific place. And that’s really a tribute to Benedict Cumberbatch’s acting abilities because playing similar but different versions of the same character must have it’s challenges. Strange feels like he’s going to be one of the staples of phase 4 on (like how Captain America or Iron Man wee heavy focuses of phases 1 and 2) so it’ll be interesting to see how is journey continues to play out.

5.) Wanda Maximoff (my beloved): I wish that they would stop causing Wanda so much pain, but god damn does she make an interesting villain. Wanda as villain is probably one of the best we’ve seen out of marvel in terms of execution and storylines. I thought her escalation to villain made sense (even though I wish we saw a bit more of it). She is one of my favorite characters in the MCU and I was so interested to see how they continued the story of her character.

Her arc this movie did feel like a natural progression from WandaVision, especially with the knowledge that she’d been out there for months alone with the Darkhold. Her desire to find a universe where she is a happy and she has literally anything going for her was a smart choice and an interesting concept. Wanda is the prime example of what happens when a person who’s had so much shit happen to them breaks, because that’s really what happened. She lost her parents, then Pietro, then Vision (x2), she died and came back to life only to find out he’s still dead, create a false reality out of grief, have to kill vision (for the third time) and her kids to make things right again. I mean I’m surprised she didn’t break sooner. Wanda as a character who is so interesting to me because she clearly wants to be a good person and doesn’t want to be this monster that she is often seen as, however she’s drawn to this darkness because of her circumstances and how this much loss truly changes a person. I could go on and on about Wanda and her storyline of grief and loss and how surprisingly well done it is, but I will save that for a different post.

6.) Cameos: the movie had the perfect amount of cameos imo. It would’ve been super easy to have become bogged down with them due to the nature of exploring multiple universes and I’m glad they just kept it to the Illuminati council. My personal favorites were Maria Rambou as Captain Marvel and John Krasinsksi as Richard Reid. I personally could’ve done without Captain Carter, she’s the least interesting of the Captain America/Winter Soldier’s and her prior filmography doesn’t paint in her a great light. I’m not going to lie I wasn’t upset to see her get killed off.

I really enjoyed the movie, however there were things that I would’ve liked to see/had me scratching my head

1.) Lack of mention of Pietro and Vision: I thought it was a bit odd that throughout the alternate universes we didn’t see or hear about Pietro or Vision for the most part other then a couple of throw away lines. I personally would’ve liked to see a nod or an in depth mention of them, but it wasn’t vital to the story so it’s a small complaint of mine.

2.) Was the Wanda that interacted with Professor X our actual Wanda and like her conscience because the darkhold had taken over her? Or was it that universes Wanda?

3.) What’s the purpose of Strange’s third eye? Is that a comic thing?

4.) No mention of the events of Spider-Man No Way home. I really thought given how big of an issue the multiverse opening up in that movie was that we would’ve gotten a few more mentions of the events that transpired and how it effected this movie.

I personally really enjoyed my experience with this movie, I know that some people loved it and some people hated it. I thought it everything about it was kind of a breath of fresh air from what are used to getting from marvel and I’m interested to see how the movies and shows may change stylistically going forward.

This is a series of unconnected one-shots, each their own and covering a variety of tropes and moments and themes and AUs. Tony Stark loved Stephen Strange. He loved him more than anyone could ever imagine. But then a terrorist group attacked the convoy. Then there was a car accident. In the middle of it all, there is tired, battered love. (And, maybe, a little bit of genius)

UNFINISHED: Skin Deep - Mystical_Magician. (Super cool premise, and super interesting to read! The dynamic here is very fun.)

A battle that should have finally killed Stephen instead launches him into a parallel universe. Exhausted from centuries as Sorcerer Supreme, he chooses instead to explore this new world in any animal form except human. Having hoped for peace at last, he can't stand to be looked up to, to be responsible for others, to have the world on his shoulders.

If he'd hoped to avoid excitement, however, he really should have stayed away when he noticed an enormous explosion and a falling metal suit of armor as he passed through Afghanistan.

UNFINISHED: The End of Infinity - FriendlyNeighborhoodFangirls. (Self rec. Very long, very slow-burn. Canon-compliant Endgame fix-it. I’m trying so hard, lol.)

In 2023, the battle for the universe has been won. At a cost no one can forget, the fight is over—for all but one. Stephen Strange has an idea. An impossible idea spanning dimensions and timelines, life and death, and the lines of good and evil. But he's played impossible odds before—perhaps he never stopped.

All that Loki wanted was to fight, one last time, for the fate of his universe. So when he finds himself fighting for another, crashing into the past, he has a few intended words for the wizard that forced him there. But not before he finds a boy. Or, more accurately, before the boy finds him.

Tony does the math and realizes their best chance to save the universe is by... not confronting Thanos on his own turf.

So he steals a wizard and a spider and a space ship. And he runs.

(Three humans and an A.I in space, the alien friendships they make along the way, and discovering how science and magic might coexist in a universe where they can be one and the same.)

Stephen Strange does not like people, but 14,000,605 lifetimes of fighting and dying alongside this small group have worn down his walls. He likes them, gods help him. He might even consider them friends. It’s really for the best that they all go their separate ways once Thanos has been defeated. In their eyes, he’s barely even an acquaintance.

Now if only Tony and Peter would stop surprising him.

Tiresome heart, forever living and dying - Mystical_Magician. (R e a d  t h i s  p l e a s e. The mythology is so cool and the symbolism is so beautiful and the prose is so satisfying. One of my absolute faves.) 

As a fledgling crane, Stephen was too curious for his own good, and it was this curiosity that led to Eugene Strange finding and stealing away his feather robe. Trapped in human form, cruelly forged into the perfect son, not even his father's death freed him when his robe was so well hidden. He only managed to break his father's mold after breaking completely in the aftermath of his accident, and slowly gluing those broken pieces back together at Kamar-Taj, but not even magic could find what had been hidden. Enter Tony, after the defeat of Thanos.

Fluffy ones:

From The Outside - Live. (Hilarious.) 

Being a sentient life-form surrounded by humanity can be hard. Especially when said humans just can't admit their feelings for each other.

Sleeping Iron Man - Golden_Asp. (Another fun one. Perfect balance of ridiculousness with a touch of angst to make it interesting.) 

Stephen Strange stared at the Avengers on his doorstep, Tony Stark flung over Steve Rogers' shoulder like a sack of potatoes. "He touched something, didn't he?" "Yuup." or The one where Tony touches Sleeping Beauty's spindle, is put into an enchanted sleep, and everyone, even Rocket Raccoon, take their turn kissing him. But Tony only has one prince charming.

Doctor Ob(li)vious - lantia4ever. (One of my very favorites. So cute.) 

Stephen starts getting some weird looks from the Avengers, spanning across disturbed, confused and even scared all the way to curious. He dismisses it at first until weird turns into knowing.

And knowing turns into realizing...even if the scheming teenagers had to all but paint it on the walls for him to do so. Oh wait...

Sometimes, Avengers just show up to say hi. Sometimes, they all show up at once, and Tony makes an party out of it. Sometimes, he invites the snarky, oblivious, somewhat insecure wizard because, and Peter quotes: "everyone else is coming".

The worst part is that Stephen keeps tucking his hands away, just as Tony wants to hold them. He keeps hiding them, surreptitiously, no matter what they’re doing. It’s only when Tony kisses Stephen, or hugs him, that he feels the hands settle on his back, uncertain, ready to pull back within seconds.

It only makes him want to cuddle up to Stephen even more, but he backs away, not sure if it’d be welcome.

The Rogue Avengers are called back to New York because the heavy hitters are going to be needed against Thanos. Of course, there are some truths that Steve Rogers will need to accept sooner rather than later. Tony Stark has moved on and Stephen Strange will not suffer fools lightly.
