I miss Bellarke, but I can’t bring myself to rewatch the show knowing how it ends. It’s really depressing because it was my life for a long time.

Favorite book you read this year?
Novel? It’d have to be “Necropolis” in the 40k Guant’s Ghosts series. Good sci-fi, kinda schlocky, solid siege book.
But otherwise i had a blast reading through the FIST (freelance infantry specialist team) rulebook. If you want a light and lethal tabletop game where an accountant, Jesse Ventura and the wolf man team up to fight cobra and save the world from a weapon to surpass metal gear I’d suggest checking it out.

I forgot that my library card comes with a free Libby account. Now I can borrow books on my phone and read them while working. I need to get a Kindle at some point. I feel like I’m one of the few people in the world that doesn’t have some kind of e-reader.

I love watching Jane Austen adaptations because it's so interesting seeing this very stifling culture and the passive-aggressive ways people would get their point across without being improper.
It's also interesting seeing how life was for women back then, the way you had to find a balance between marrying someone who could provide for you and someone you could love -- because it was basically impossible for women to make a living for themselves in those days. And it's also interesting to read books/watch adaptations that don't focus on how awful it was, but just portray it as a normal way to live because back then it WAS normal and it would have felt normal. Like obviously it was shit that women didn't have rights, but it's just fascinating to look at how people just existed and lived their lives in that culture.
Also regency attire is lit.

Weekly Update | 今日は火曜日。4月16日2024年。
Not a great week overall. I got 5 hours of immersion in this week. still not 1 hour a day, but hey its 1 more than last week!
biggest problem is my adhd medication ran out this week and my pharmacy isn't able to get more until the end of April. which blows. :\ so my routine i built over the last two weeks basically got hit by a bus and is still recovering, lol. Im surprised i got any immersion done at all, tbh.
Im trying not to take it so hard. I had a couple good moments this week, after all.
Finally got my Anki backlog under control! I hope to get back on taking new cards sometime this week. rn its all reviews so its time i start actually learning new vocab.
my other good moment was i understood all of the dialog in one part of the 乙女ゲーム実況 I'm watching on youtube, then right after immediately understood the commentary from the lets player :) i laughed. was a good moment.
Starting to get a better feel for my routine again, even after a bumpy week. I want to try and front load the hours where i feel more energetic, cause i get better comprehension when Im focused and not tired.
i also finally worked out a routine for doing Anki. 1-2 15 min pomodoros is pretty good for me, any more and i start getting frustrated. I think its important to use anki how you desire, rather than whats 'optimal'.
So yeah, overall a not super productive week, but i think I can give myself a pass. Hoping to meet my immersion goal this week, and maybe i'll peruse for a manga to read? if you all have any reccomendations for manga, id love to hear them cause honestly idk how to find stuff thats learner appropriate. (already read yotsuba.)
until next week, またね!

Finished reading "The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes".
1. Glad Snow and Baird didn't end up together. The small, still romantic part of me wanted them to, but I loved the Hunger Games in high school and I never liked Snow to begin with.
2. Wow, the Hunger Games was super shitty at first. Not that the idea improved by the time the 74th reaping came, but wow.
3. I love the mystery of Lucy Gray disappearing. While I'm glad Snow/Baird wasn't end game, I really like to imagine that Katniss ends up being his secret, long lost granddaughter.
4. The Hanging Tree- the first time I read it in Mockingjay to seeing it's origin in BOSBAS, I wonder if he had a panic attack hearing Katniss sing it during the propaganda thing. The past coming back to haunt him.
Overall super happy, glad I took the time to read it. Now, it's time to read Murtaugh (or finish it, since my brother by law has returned it to me)
