honestly I really love that Rick Riordan made his first trans character (or at least his first trans main character, I don't remember if there was anybody minor before Alex) MtF
like those are the trans people that terfs/transphobes have labelled as the "scary" ones, not just misguided or some shit like that, but actively threatening to women and society, and Richard Riordan made a MtF trans person a hero, a beloved sister, a valued friend, a desired girlfriend who was only scary because of her skill with a garrote and her salty attitude and she was everything to me just as a nonbinary trans person bc she was the first real trans hero I found, so I can only imagine what it was like for trans girls my age reading Gods of Asgard and having that
he really said this is the queerest series yet and that includes the queer people who have some of the most active demonization directed at them and whether or not he meant it as a protest against MtF persecution it's literally so important to me
#I mean yes as a genderfluid person I can acknowledge the flaws in her depiction#but this guy actively fuckin TRIED with his whole chest#he stood up for the trans community with alex#and honestly I don't even care that she's not perfect let's not miss the forest for the trees here#it's a YA (?) book series with a MtF hero who takes a central role in the story AND ends up with the (pan) main character#better depictions will come along with time but she's so important for the moment in time she happened#anyway!#Alex fierro#Magnus chase and the gods of asgard#mcatgoa#rick riordan#trans#transgender#genderfluid#queer
