My opinion is that the beast is very loyal to anyone that they claimed upon, and that one person is the only theyre gonna settle with. Aside from that, they try their best to make their darling alive as possible maybe going through such methods to make them immortal??

This is how I’ve imagined it as well. However, I personally feel that the process to make a cookie immortal who isn’t meant to be likely takes a while. A Beast’s darling may not last that long. Not only that, but immortality does not equal invincibility. While they may make it so their darling doesn’t age, I think making a darling unkillable is out of their range of capabilities, despite how upsetting they may find that. So while time would not be able to take their darling away from them, other means could. These means could range from the darling’s own hands to another Beast to the very Beast who claimed them. They sometimes forget how fragile regular cookies can be (Burning Spice has the worst track record when it comes to this-). Other things could happen as well. Accidents, sickness, predators (it is called Beast-Yeast for a reason), basically anything that could get a regular cookie, tho the Beasts often have safeguards against things like injuries and sicknesses. This is why most of them tend to keep a close and careful watch over their darling, especially if they fought another Beast to claim them. So while death is unlikely, it is still within the range of possibilities.

I once argued against someone who claimed that Rhea does not promote nationalism despite the opposite being true by not allowing foreigners to enter Fodlan and deporting a Dagdan refugee for practicing her religion and calling said religion demonic and allowing Fodlan to violently oppress foreign nations.

Not only did said person immediately block me but they claim that the corrupt nobles only use the church as a prop and have the manpower to oppress Rhea, not the other way around.

While the first argument is true that still does not indicate that they can easily oppose Rhea and the second argument is flat out false. Military, politcally and socially Rhea has power over the corrupt nobles.

For starters not only does Rhea have a powerful and devoted army that being the knights of Seiros but she has the ability to turn into the immaculate one, has access to powerful white magic , can create phantom soldiers that are strong enough to fight a strong army even after she was captured, imprisoned and malnourished for 5 years straight, she has access to strong golems, she can create mighty soldiers by granting them a portion of her blood and a piece of a crest stone and said soldiers can turn into mighty white beasts that take damage in the place of Rhea. And on top of that she has the full backing of Faerghus on her side.

Moving onto Faerghus the kingdom is extremely loyal to the central church, the king theyre loyal to is crowned by the church and must swear fealty to Rhea, the church can take away heroes relics even important ones like Gautier's, she can act in place of a deceased king over the king regent and not to mention she willingly opposed Rufus by supporting Dimitri.

The strongest houses of Faerghus is loyal to the central church. The only ones willing to turn against her are the western lords but should they even attempt it they'll be annihilated by both the central church and northern Faerghus. They can only oppose the church with the backing of the empire.

Moving onto the empire It's true that the Empire has been preparing to conquer all of Fodlan but they didn't do it out of hatred for crests and nobility, they solely waged war to benefit themselves. The only reason there is a war against Rhea is because of Edelgard's hatred for crests and nobility. The likes of Aegir would've never even think about waging war against nobility, let alone do it.

And even when Edelgard wants to kill Rhea that doesn't not mean shes not beholden to Rhea prior to her war. In Hopes it's clearly stated that Edelgard would be punished should her accusations about Arundel be proven false. The crown princess of a massive empire can't make rash decisions without being punished by the archbishop, even despite the strained relationship between the empire and the church. And also Rhea can still take away heroes relics from Adrestian nobles proven by Yuri's paralogue in houses.

The only time they can violently oppose Rhea is when all the preparations has been made. From convincing their empire that Rhea is evil to building the army necessary to wage war.

Moving onto Leicester the main priority of the 5 great lords is keeping Leicester's safety and independence. Next to that is keeping the safety of their own respective territory.

There is no benefit to Leicester violently attacking Rhea cause not only will they have to fight both the central church and the kingdom but they'll also be attacked by opportunistic Adrestia nobles who want to conquer Leicester and only help under the false guise of respecting the church. Not to mention they have the major threat of Almyran looming over them.

Should any great lord make the moronic decision to attack Rhea any other sensible great lord would sooner aid the church in dismantling their house than support the irrational great lord in their suicide mission.

Before Edelgard declared war against Rhea there was no benefit to turning against her, crests nor nobility.

And to reiterate Rhea has the manpower to subjegate Brigid should they side with the Empire proving that she could've done something to help Duscur, Sreng and Brigid but refused to do so. Which is mighty ironic considering she hates Nemesis and the Agarthans for the same crimes she supports against foreign nations. Leaders with less power than her succeeded in righting the wrongs of their respective region, which is something Rhea refused to do.

Point is the corrupt nobles are powerless against Rhea, not the other way around. Should anyone want to wage war against her they need the numbers and support to combat Rhea's military might.

So no Rhea isn't a helpless little lamb that's forced to obey corrupt nobles and the corrupt nobles can't "go after" Rhea cause that would be a pointless suicide mission for them.

I've seen a lot of people in the Re:zero community hate puck with a passion and call him a hypocritical toxic father, and a good portion of them accuse him of deliberately mentally abusing Emilia so that she can be a naive pretty doll with no sense of independence and always obey him unconditionally.

How do you feel about that?

i dont think theyre wrong per say but i also do think puck genuinely loved emilia a lot- i dont think this is something up for debate. he will literally end the world if she dies. but is that what she would want??? i highly doubt it. emilia is a girl who would die for a world that has been nothing but cruel to her.

puck was never really meant to be a father, like, thats not what he was made for. hes the beast of the end not the beast of paternal love. but thats also something about him i find compelling, because he changed so much of himself because he loved this girl so much. his mentality is literally "if anything happens to her ill kill everyone in the world and then myself"

but he does baby her. extremely so. and he does treat her like a doll. remember part of their contract is literally that he does her hair, and thats why she chops off in greed:if as an act of rebellion (normal teen girl behavior honestly). he also literally never told her what sex is- shes 17 and she had no clue, and its played off as a joke at first, but subaru's "damn you puck" rings so true.

remember in wrath:if it was puck who pitched a deal with suabru to keep emilia trapped in the "princess room" away from all the danger. the whole princess room thing (in wrath:if and also in her childhood) is symbolic of her loss of autonomy in a lot of ways, especially when you remember she's NOT a princess. she's a candidate to be a KING!

and there are more damning things within their contract too, like how she literally wasnt allowed to SEE HER OWN FACE! its not made super clear in the anime, but whenever she looks at reflections she actually doesnt see anything back (not because she doesnt have one, but that she herself isnt perceiving it. and i think a lot of this also comes back to the self-recognition theme of the story, the whole reflections though eyes motif and all. remember how much of her we saw reflected only through subaru's eyes? she doesnt actually see her own reflection until she jumps inside the lake in the trial)

but i think thats also a big part of why he broke her contract with her to begin with. i think he knows she hasnt been allowed to grow up, that shes been overly babied, isolated, and kept away from things that might potentially make her feel bad. including her past, and even her present and future... breaking the contract off all at once isnt a good way to do this, i mean, her mental breakdown was so emblematic of that. but i think its important to look at what it all means for the meta narrative.

the latter half of arc 4 was absolutely emilia's arc, and a lot of it was her sort of growing up. i dont think cold turkey is a great way for a parental figure to do this to their child, but emilia was so incredibly dependent. and a lot of that was because puck MADE her dependent to begin with. for so much of her life she literally only had him... like. she was all alone in complete isolation in a frozen forest for as far back as she can remember, and everyone in the world hated her for reasons she didnt understand, and all she had was this little cat thing to be her friend. OF COURSE shes dependent on him, and of course she thinks she cant do stuff on her own (shes so fucking scared of being alone), and i think puck sort of depended on this mindset to keep her a "child" for as long as possible

but she had to grow up eventually. she's 18, maybe almost 19 by this point of the story (still unclear exactly which month we're in) and this is just as much her coming of age story as it is subaru's. (but speaking of subaru puck also guilt trips him quite a bit about emilia's deaths, even when he himself is "gone at the most important times" in emilia's words, which is not only hypocritical but also manipulative!)

all this being said i seriously love puck as a character because when he was first introduced i was like "oh god. annoying mascot character. boring" and then the beast of the end reveal happened and i was like "oh so this is going in the kyubey ripoff direction. i guess that makes sense for a dark fantasy but idrc" BUT THEN he actually ends up being like. an actual character w a lot of depth and nuance to him, a lot of it being how incredibly fucking sketchy he actually is but in a completely different way than just "evil twist mascot." between him and matsumoto from vivy, i love how tappei handles mascot characters- theyre a really hard thing to get right w/o being annoying LOL.

maybe because im in the cm punk fandom so i dont see a lot of alternate analysis or opinions of the promo that are more appreciative to seth's work (to be fair, the other side is absolutely hijacked by ppl who are only there to say punk is a cancer but never watch wwe in years) but also :

1. Punk takes a shot of seth that management loves him, even though hes literally besties with triple h, management's finest soldier.

2. His entire promos in wwe canon was all about not getting opportunities he feels like he deserved to have, which is fair, but it doesnt escape the whiny allegations.

3. Still doesnt excuse the medical issues though, which punk is completely on the right for and seth was an asshole for sidestepping and ignoring it. Others have explained this better than me so im not gonna be redundant and just move on

4. But lets draw a comparison to mjf's entire reason of hating punk is because he left wrestling. Its just as nonsensical and entitled, yet fans reacted differently. Which is understandable, since rollins is considered babyface while MJF is a heel. You explicitly know mjf is the bad guy. But rollins being babyface doesnt mean punk is explicitly a heel. On screen, this is still a face vs face feud that might not be executed perfectly at times. Unless punk explicitly does a heel turn in the future (which im not ruling as impossible), ppl are being dumb for assuming wwe has punk haters in the writing staff. Who knows, maybe theyre keeping it ambiguous because it will drawn more attention online? Maybe we need to wait and see before casting judgement?

5. Also back to point one punk brought up becky first before he got hit with the no children insult lol. Who wanted to take a break to be a mom as a cheap shot to seth. Yeah we should probably examine why it was becky, who feel like she should be the one taking a break and the no kids insult from seth has sexist implications, but again... Punk insulted seth's wife as if shes an extension of seth's ideals and standards, and its still cheered by people online and offline. Even if its been okayed, which im sure it is, you'd be hypocritical to say seth's no children insult to be offensive but doesnt bristle when punk implied seth is a hypocrite because becky didnt follow his career choices no matter the reason

6. Punk is a beast who absolutely won that promo battle and cooked seth as the kids say, but people are hyperbolic when they say seth cant talk at all. Worst part is, its not even a bit. If he wasnt decent on a level above at least 60% of all american wrestlers, he wouldnt be in the wwe especially without family relations to help him. He wouldnt be main eventing wrestlemania and be pushed so heavily. Look at the crowd reactions! Punk cooked him but the crowds were still screaming for him. WWE can be shit sometimes but every company that depends on the show drawing money tries to have standards.

7. I still think this feud should be over before mania. I'm sorry but i want my boy holding the title FAST and his biological clock is running out! Also ehhh, we had two obsessive fan turned hater feuds, the third one at least feels different lately, but i want variety. It was only this week that im convinced this wont be a rehash of punk's previous feuds. I want him to use different material other than "oh i crush all my haters" or "im getting so much money". I really miss that variety punk had during his first run, the ses and nexus and best in the world gimmicks are all still very punk but its all different sides of him amplified. Also, i like when punk is an underdog facing someone much much stronger than him both physically and mentally. i want him to show that side more. SO. this fuckery began with quackity announcing the QSMP. He did so on the 17th of march and whatever the fuck. He mentioned it earlier than this (edit: just checked but the First announcements was the 10th)

And this is all great. New server that fucks. But what truly started all this. Was dream's tweet on his private twitter.

Im gonna try to be kinda impartial qnd jus. Explain it all as is but first i gotta say who says this shit lmao. So quackity announces his new project and is very passionate about it, he tweets more on his alt(?) About how much it means to him to bring his two languages spanish and english together. And dream on private is like 'wow cool! Guys dont get mad at me when i announce the same thing later tho haha' its just so weird.

But anyways. The usmp wasnt even A Thing. Only written instance of dream makin a multilingual server was in a tweet defending himself from copying quackity. (Altho he allegedly mentions in streams or whatever wanting yo do things w other ppl from other languages? But that shit dont count n im not diggin audio n videos out fuck that).

The actual, official announcement of dream makin a usmp was april 2nd (idk why this says the 3rd but whatever) wherein he announces the 'first multilingual smp' with a list of languages that will be on it such as portugese, spanish, english, russian, etc. And that it has live translation.

The same day, quackity releases a tweet labelling the qsmp as the 'first multilingual smp' and that he is introducing a live translation system to it. Mr beast connects that the usmp and qsmp are similar to which dream responds. Quackity doesnt respond, nor does he acknowledge the usmp at all.

Dream's response is essentially theyre different in that qsmp is spanish and english, he announced his live translator first, they had 'similar good ideas'.

So. This sparked a lot of drama and discussion. Because of the 'first multilingual' bit in that people began discrediting qsmp as it was 'only' english and spanish, and therefore was bilingual and not multilingual. Altho others countered thid by saying quackity himself called it a multilingual server in his streams. Not to mention the idea that the translator was copied but regardless both those things are kinda stupid arguments and just drama inspired by the comparisons.

More notably is that dream team were making fun of the 'first multilingual server' bit after this. Dream was liking some jokes at it as well

Dream also liked some. Vaguely sexual/romantic 'they should just kiss already' art of him and quackity?

Also after this dream started somewhat addressing/replying to quackity more. Quackity didnt respond to any of it.

Most narrowed in on the 'this wouldnt have happened without quackity' and was often interpretted as dream saying quackity HELPED him w it in some way or that there was more collab behind the scenes but we will find that to be false. Because. On april 27th. Dream dropped his magnum opus. Which i will include in one screenshot.

Anyways i seriously encourage reading the full thing here because its. Something. Theres so much. It is literally 1.7k words. A lot of it is repetitive but i will. Try. To summarize it.

Essentially dream is writing that he has been trying to contact quackity for some time now with no response. He has been messaging him about how theyve ended up with similar servers (therefore noting that neither one know of the other). This gets nothing. Dream tries contacting quackity more publically with jokes. Nothing. He starts going through secondary sources by talkin to ppl to message quackity for him (i think some people who dream knows that are on the qsmp. Unsure who) but quackity doesnt say shit. Dream is being absolutely ghosted.

Im also noting this last paragraph in his first tweet where he describes being 'taken back' when quackity announces the qsmp live translator after his usmp announcement, because he 'knew it would cause more drama'.

He says he messages quackity so they can plan how to deal with the 'vitriol' between the teo 'communities' and that the drama can be solved with 'communication'. He is ghosted. He also mentions that he puts the usmp 'on hold' in the 2nd tweet so it all can be dealt with and he can 'extend love and support to quackity'. Most notably he says that its alluded that quackity wouldnt let ppl who were on the usmp couldnt be on the qsmp which dream tries to say makes sense for quackity to do.

Theres apparently a fucking image limit on the tumblr app which ive hit so i am now not using images and speedrunning this shit. But im quoting this one thing exactly as its most important:

Now, obviously, shit blew up. Hes been ratiod a few times by people meming it. Ive seen many people on quackity's 'side' saying that the usmp doesnt even exist yet, dream is the one causing drama, etc. And people on dream's 'side' saying quackity is being horrible and needs address this because its caused dream to be in danger. Most importantly. Quackity didnt address it at all.

But then quackity announced he was going live in an hour. And a lot assumed hed say something. But he didnt. His stream was roughly 15 minutes long and it was entirely quackity announcing that he was introducing brazilian/portugese speaking streamers onto the qsmp.

Anyways. Theres a lot of details but my hand hurts now. A big thing is whether qsmp or usmp was 'first'. Imo theres a lot more pointing towards quackity having had this is store for a longass time, as he had been hinting and a project of his for months and more notably the qsmp is so organized and put together i doubt he couldve had it finished up 'after' dream as dream's nonexistent server was an idea he got after that squidcraft thing in early March i think?

More recently (i think today) i saw that quackity apparently took two emojis off his twitch that were dream roblox characters and i saw people freaking out in r/dwt2 about how quackity could be so petty? But ya. My condolences if youve read all this.

i feel like. mmm. how to say this, i want to phrase it gently.

basically logan howlett is always struggling for balance between both sides of himself. this is a longrunning theme of wolverine comics. the struggle not to become The Beast. for example, the way he snaps and goes on the murder spree that gets him labeled The Worst Wolverine, that's him succumbing to the most feral parts of himself. succumbing to rage and being so animalistic he loses his sense of self. something that's happened to him over and over, feral rage taking over his mind and making him do things he regrets in the clarity of the morning.

over and over, trying so hard to be a man even when it means suppressing parts of himself and even though at times it feels like a constant battle. and then feeling like a failure BECAUSE of that struggle. like he'll never fully be human and therefore never not be a weapon. a dog on a chain. never be worth anything.

and he's had partners that tell him he isn't the wolverine, he's logan, and there's a degree of truth to that! but i think wade accepting when he slides into something less mannered and telling him to embrace both sides could perhaps be healthy for him.

logan isnt actually two things, he's one man who fights his instincts most of the time in an attempt to be something he's not, because he thinks he doesnt have value if he acts in his nature, at least in part because people have used his nature against him.

and while he shouldnt go full beastmode because he loses himself in the process, learning to accept "both sides" and fuse them into one whole could potentially be really theraputic and helpful for him. it would help him stop seeing himself as a man with a demon in the back of his mind taking him over, and start seeing himself as a man with instincts. marry the halves to make a whole

he obviously accepts on the surface level that he's a mutant, but i think deep down he's never fully come to terms with it, because his mutation comes with instincts that he fights, instincts that can push him to do harm to others as an act of self-preservation, instincts that come with a mindlessness he never wants to embrace, so he distances himself from them and calls them something external(or intrinsic but very deeply rooted/still seperate from his Self which is his higher reasoning and personality). but if he were to accept that those instincts /are him/, it could help him control them, or at least be at peace with them. theyre not an external force, theyre part of him. theyre his.

if he sees himself instead as a whole being that happens to be mutated, a man who has instincts, he might be able to control the rage better because he's at peace with himself and he's indulging his instincts.

he's not a human. but he's also not the wolverine. he is logan-- a union of concepts. a man with a mutation. and while he isnt destined to hurt people like he fears, he'll always have certain urges, and indulging them could really help him thrive.

it's at the very least one direction to take the character, and it would be an interesting way for wade to help him heal. and be good for him.

wade doesnt say "you're my weapon" OR "you're just a human, fight your instincts". he says "be yourself fully, and i'll love you and accept you for the whole ride."

and like what would be explored in them

like obvs Raine and Eda’s development together. but I’d love a lot of individual Raine development where we see them excel in classes. I can see them turning into the mysterious and cool new kid who just becomes popular outta nowhere. I can imagine them coming from a very pro-coven family. Raine I feel is one of those naturally gifted types of students who just do really good in everything (yall know the ones) but really only give a shit about the one. super smart kid. but painfully clueless. can not take a hint and can not lie in very situations. they’re also super sweet to p much everyone.

but Eda knows that they can’t be underestimated. they are much like actual boiling rain and will mess you up if need be. and they’ll look cute doing it!

but they also talk to Darius like “Eda called me cute and said I’m special to her but that doesn’t mean she likes me. I’m sure she says that to all her friends” “I’ve literally only seen her talk to you and her sister there’s zero other friends. Except maybe Perry but no one talks to Perry either.”

Alador and Odalia are the very annoying on-again-off-again couple who fight in public. they’re also the reason for a million of the PDA rules in hexside.

Lilith and Darius start hanging out more when their closest friends (Eda and Alador) start hanging out with their respective crushes/partners. It’s mostly to study but they develop a close bond. She acts like his big sister in a way.

Perry makes his way into the mix on accident. He has a small crush on Lilith because she’s been nice to him. He, Darius, and Lilith start studying together too.

The first bit of hijinks that the crew gets in is to break in to Principal Fausts office to burn the detention that he put in Lilith’s files, mucking her perfect record. Lilith had a whole meltdown from it and Eda is not having it. Seeing it all go down even causes the owl beast in her to spike. Raine is really quick to calm her by going “focus on comforting your big sis, let me do the revenge planning”.

the B plot however is Odalia, Darius, and Alador sleeping over at the school over a rumor about Grom coming out at night and wandering the halls. they basically bet that whoever stays last wins and the losers have to do the winners homework for a month.

Lilith obvs finds out about Eda and Raine’s plot and follows them to make sure they don’t get hurt.

they all find out Faust is sleeping at the school for some reason and is also worshipping Grometheus and starting a cult. Eda and Raine are the first to find out and proceed to freak the fck out.

The two find Darius, Alador, and Odalia in the abomination class. they give them the run down and now theyre all hiding from Faust. Lilith eventually finds them (they’re now in the school auditorium) and let’s them know that the authorities are on the way. she also chews Eda out for doing this.

But she can’t stay mad because she knows they can’t expect to hide and stay safe that way. so she devises a plan to essentially trap the cult.

Idk the plan but Eda would be taught a bard spell by Raine via finger snap. Alador would be able to show off how fast he can think things up, with help fortifying his inventions by Darius. and then Odalia summoning a shadow spirit and pretending it to be Grom.

By the end of it, Bump would be the new principal. He’d still give them all a weeks worth of work and community services but no need for the detention pit. and no need for anything to go on record.

specifically the way i see it things kinda just go like:

- gets assigned to an empyrean, who is also a shaman numen girl but like from a different village

- dutifully does their job for years, always stays by the empyreans side; until one day though she convinces them to do something on their own because "nothing ever happens!"

- hornsent.

- empyrean gets killed before their eyes, and so they kinda pull a messmer and just kill every one of them

- this leads to two fun things i refuse to give up on now which is a) anoto's fur on the hands, wrists and part of the arm are permanently coloured a brown-orangeish red from the amount of bloodshed, which was inspired by kratos being forced tocwear his kid and wifes ashes on his skin; and b) a scar on their snout from a tooth they post which was inspired by rudy, the gigantic albino baryonyx from ice age 3, who also had a scar like that after losing a tooth and i think rudy is cool as fuck

- the two fingers abandon anoto, there's no conversation or anything but they feel it

- the empyrean gets a burial at her favourite place, anoto keeps a ring she wore and in exchange buries one of their eyes with her

- anoto just quietly stays there, not sure what to do until something happens in enir-illim that they can identify as an ascension to godhood

- returns to the lands between (return because i always assumed shadow bound beasts are either beastmen themselves or related to them and those are in farum azula which. well. is in the lands between.)

- they don't stay long though and leave to see lands beyond like the land of reeds; before returning once more where they pass the same day under the moon and stars

OKAY BUT I HAVE THOUGHTS ON WHY SHAPESHIFTING IS LITERALLY OBJECTIVELY THE BEST SUPERPOWER BESIDES THE TRANS REASONS. GET READY FOR A MINOR ESSAY

So first of: Shapeshifting has many different variations. So does the rest of these. Flying can be just hovering to wings to basically telekinesis. Teleportation is a science on its own. You get it. But for the simplicity and sake of it we can assume this poll refers to them in their purest truest version of themselves. So whats that mean for shapeshifting and what are the alternatives?

First of we got the most popular variation of shapeshifting, and arguably the weakest, what I like to call the Chameleon Variation. Think the typical changelings. Mystique. Changelings in dnd. That sexy lizard from She-Ra. The ability to take on the appearance of other people, but nothing else. The furtherest in ability changing this does is that if you shift into someone with other physical abilities than you, like being more athletic or being able to sing, you might be able to mimic those (granted you have the knowledge to utilize those abilities) (Note: this is usually limited by your own biology, so even if you change into someone with super strenght you dont necessarily get super strenght, just more muscles. And that is IF you even get stronger at all). This variation is only looks. Camouflage. Outside of the benefits of looking differently, you do not get anything out of shifting (or only something minimal).

The second variation are Form Changers. These are the ones that have a determined set of forms they can change into, with very little flexibility in terms of mixing and such. These forms each typically have different utilities and powers on their own, but very rarely do you get access to both. The list of forms can increase or decrease, depending on what the plot wants. Popular examples of this is Werewolves from Everywhere, Ben 10, Beast Boy, Vampires (sometimes), Zoan Devil Fruit users in One Piece. Your shapeshifting is easily defined as "Youre either form A or form B. No inbetween". The rare occassions there are "inbetweens", those are typically treated as seperate forms.

Third variation are the Utilities, normally also the Partial Changers. These are the shifters that can shift parts of themselves to fit specific needs. They got limbs that can become tools, or they can just harden their skin, and so forth. This variation is kind of a gray zone, as there are a lot of powers that can fit into this category without being explicitly shapeshifting. Think Kevin Eleven from Ben 10, Kirashima from BNHA, Human Torch. Theyre technically doing a shapeshift to some extent, but normally their regular form is still distinguishable, and they just added something to make a particular situation easier. I also like to see this category as the half shifters. Theyre kind of it, but also not.

Basically every super power has some form of variation similar to this, different ways the power manifests and different rules to how it works. This is developed so that you can have a roster of characters with basically the same superpower without them being the exact same. But the rawest form of the power, the pure form that is the entirety of the power, can (most of the time) do all of the variations to some extent.

True shapeshifting, however, can do all these variations, and so much more.

True shapeshifting, in the definition that ive developed over the YEARS that ive had this thought, is simply true self control. You can control the shape of every aspect of your own body at any given time. Down to at least a molecular level, if not atomic or even subatomic. You determine the material of which each minuscule part of your body is made of, as well as its shape, at any given time, all the time. Now this might sound like a lot of effort, which it is, because no great power would be great without some work being required to it. So let me walk you through just how to make this power great.

So you discover you have the ability to fully control the molecules in your body. First of you need to figure out how to Stay In Shape, literally, and not just dissolve into slime all the time. This is easy part, but the most necessary as it will need to become second and first nature for you to function. The second step is figuring out how to do the basic other stuff. Id recommend learning about human anatomy and physics for this. As well as chemistry. Expect that to master this power you need to be an expert in the art of being a girl in STEM. Change the material of your skin to be sturdier. Figure out how to change your appearance. The simple stuff everyone wants to do with shapeshifting. Try to grow and shrink in size. Now this point is where its getting interesting. Because, true shapeshifting gives you the ability to control how the material of your body is built and how that looks, but it doesnt give you the instant ability to just. Create or destroy mass. So, even if you grow larger, or shrink, your mass is still the same. If you weigh 100kg reguarly, you still do even if youre now 5 meters tall. And the same goes for being 1 meter tall. Youre just more or less dense.

SO. How to fix this? Easy. Add more mass. Figure out how to fuck around with eating so you gain more molecules to work with. Doing this enough will grant you the ability to grow to incredible sizes. But this also creates a problem. The added mass doesn't go away, so eventually youll start cracking the concrete on the street by putting several tons of pressure on the point of Size 40 shoes. Thats not very good for your enviorment, especially not if you want to be sneaky about your powers. How do you solve that?

Easy answer: Gas. Just become gas. Your body is still your body no matter its material, and if you can control your own blood flow why can you not become a cloud. Just disperse a large part of yourself in the air around you. And guess what? The adding of mass and fucking around with how your body works mightve given you a lot of physical powers, like super strenght, endurance, size changing, some super speed, etc. But now? You basically have telekinesis as well. Think about it. If your body is the physical meat suit that everyone sees, as well as at least 50% of the air in a 100 meter radius, you can just. Shove things around. Without noticably touching them.

At this size you might also need to figure out more effective ways to add mass than eating. Like just absorbing large swats of material. And when you do, whats stopping you from just absorbing everything around you and just letting it be what it is. Congrats! You can now become a planet! And for everyone on that planet, you might as well just have reality warping. Not that it matters unless you want it to, because you are also those people! Try not to go insane from the potential hivemind you accidentally created.

Now you could easily stop there, or you could easily (but slowly) start sending pieces of you out into space and eventually absorbing the galaxy and beyond.

And with that level of mass under your control, you can simply do whatever you want. You are literally a god now. Any material is yours to control and you can do whatever you want. If there is any power that can sneak its way into higher planes of existence, its true shapeshifting.

If you remove the limiters commonly placed on shapeshifting as a power, someone is eventually just going to become everything. And to be fair, it makes sense that all shapeshifters are limited to not do that, because that would just make them too overpowered and that wouldnt be fun narratively. But it is funny that the argument that you could make as a child that shapeshifting can get you any power because "ill just turn into someone with [Insert power here]" is literally true. Oh universe ending level of threat has appeared? I either spawn a black hole on them or Become Them. Get assimilated idiot.

shrue: shrew familiar named cashew. cmon. magic color is an uneasy orange. an overworked member of the administration who rose the ranks with the intention of undoing harm, but is instead walked over and talked over and makes very little change

gage & mercer: it’s canon that twins will have the same kind of familiar, so they both have deer - but only one has antlers. they never make it clear which familiar belongs to who. i have no clue what their magic color would be but theyd be slightly different hues off each other. they hunt husks, but they seem to like it a little too much, and they like to wear the remains of their hunts.

Thatch: owner of a small bakery company that got so popular he had to open several branches across the Grandline to meet the growing demand, he often swings through all of them to ensure they’re meeting his standards n stuff, his main shop is in Sphinx tho, bc he can’t leave Pops without fresh croissants!! His Pokémon are Fidough (ee new pokemon!) and Dartrix

Vista: fashion designer, usually has his brothers and sisters model the clothes he designs, well decorated in the field for providing unique and flattering bespoke fashion for all body types, his pokemon are Gardevoir, Gallade and Kirlia (yeah. Haha) he’s absolutely enamoured with Ace’s proportions though and Ace really does not want to be alone in a room with vista just because he won’t be able to say no to him asking for a moment of his time to model some things (last time he said yes he was occupied for a whole weekend LMAO sorry Ace, Vista got INSPIRED hard)

Blamenco: physics professor, specifically interested in the Ultra Beasts phenomenon and worme hole pocket dimesions, has published several papers on the subject and his prized Pokemon is indeed an ultra beast, the highly dangerous Guzzlord, as such he’s under strict monitoring to ensure he doesn’t let it go on a rampage, his other pokemon are: Granbull, Mr Mime and Goliscopod, he lovingly calls these three his Guzzlord insurance policy haha (because theyre all super effective type countersagainst Guzzlord)

Rakuyo: game show host and popular radio host of an opinion based channel that talks about news and reacts to it etc ( the reason Izo keeps getting invites to do tv appearances ZBDBD) his pokemon are Elekid and Braixen (theyre both game show pokemon mascots!)

Namur: handyman, jack of all trades he’s always on the move and can’t settle down, Marco’s a little worried about Namur because every time he calls/chats with him, Namurs gone and got fired or has a new job but it doesn’t seem to bother him because he says all of it is experience gained anyway, his pokemon: Whiscash, Quagsire and Wobbuffet

Blenheim: pokemon police force, originally was part of his home island’s military but then he left and instead drafted into law enforcement, his pokemon are Arcanine and Golbat

Curiel: pokemon ranger, he’s always wanted to be one since he was a kid, because he was rescued by one when he got separated from his parents (later confirmed deceased F curiel…) in a national park that had flash floods, his pokemon are Swampert, Pidgeot and Golem

Kingdew: prowrestler, famous just like Izo and often has to comment on Izo’s latest contest win and vice versa and Kingdew shrugs like you’re asking the wrong guy, Izo’s pretty but is he gorgeous like me? No, we are not the same (he means it in a joking way haha Izo indulges him like oh Kingdew? He’s too fabulous for little old me and all the press are like ???????? Huh???), his pokemon are Hariyama, Incineroar and Hawlucha

Haruta: co-owner of a trading company with Jozu, the sales and spokesperson, they mostly deal in mineral goods, his pokemon are Bisharp and Sir fetche’d

Atmos: currently unemployed, he stays with Pops to keep him company, but has recently found out he’s got quite the green thumb, and is apparently really good at trimming hedges into decorative art pieces, he’s looking to take gardening gigs soon, his pokemon are Bellossom, Sunflora and Shroomish

Speed Jiru: a bodyguard, currently employed by Izo who hired his brother due to two things: Jiru won’t judge him for his reasoning to hire a bodyguard and because Izo prefers if it was family anyway, his pokemon are Aggron, Ferrothorn, Drapion, Stuntank and Sharpedo, he’s one of the only WBP siblings to have as many Pokémon as Marco, he’s second in battling prowress to him and should Marco ever resign his elite four seat, the next in line would be Jiru unless he declines

Fossa: fisherman, it started as a hobby and now its a real thing for him, he’s good at rearing water pokemon and currently farms Chinchou, Magikarp, Goldeen and Clampearls, he has a Poppilo friend that visits (begs for scraps) his only Pokemon is a Volbeat

Izo: fashion blogger, popular pokemon coordinator, well known for his beauty tips and how to train your Pokémon to become top tier beauty contestants, often appears on game shows for local celebrities, his Pokémon are Oricorico (blue one) and Froslass (aesthetic matches his)
