Paige 💕 (paigebueckers) started following you.
Paige 💕 wants to send you a message. Hey, I heard you were into D1 basketball players? 😉
The message stuck out to you, your stomach dropping as you read the message request. You couldn't help but grin as you read her playful message, the nervous energy in your stomach now morphing into a thrilling anticipation. With shaky hands, you tapped on the message request, your heart pounding in your chest.
You couldn't believe Tana's advice had actually worked ─ talking about them on a podcast was the best rizz, apparently.
With trembling hands, you typed out a response, trying to come across confident despite the fluttering of nerves in your stomach.
Y/N 🎀 hi, you saw the episode?
Y/N 🎀 god i'm so embarrassed, sorry if you keep getting bombarded with questions from my fans lol. they mean well i swear 😫
You exited out of Instagram and tapped on iMessage, quickly getting into your group-chat with the girls.

As you were typing out your message to the groupchat, your phone buzzed. You looked up at the message, a smile spreading on your lips.
Paige 💕 Haha, yeah, I saw the episode. Don't worry about it, it's all good :)
Paige 💕 And no need to apologize, ur fans are really funny lol
You closed your phone, shutting your eyes as you swallowed a squeal of excitement.
The thrill of talking to Paige was almost overwhelming, but in the best possible way. You'd thought she was attractive since you'd first gotten into basketball back in high school (yes, it was because of your ex but that's besides that point), and it was surreal now that she was not only talking to you ─ she was hitting on you.
──
It had been a few weeks since you'd began talking to Paige and since then, you'd exchanged phone numbers and were talking every single day. She was sending you good morning texts, she made sure to do an fit check every morning, and you found yourself eagerly awaiting each message from her. The thrill of talking to Paige hadn't faded; if anything, it had only intensified as you got to know her better.
However, you knew since the season was beginning she wasn't going to be as free as she was before. You didn't mind, of course ─ you were just happy you were able to talk to her at all. These last couple days had been busy for her and you hadn't been able to talk to her, but this morning you'd gotten something in the mail that you were sure you didn't order.
You ripped it open to reveal Paige's jersey, and it was even signed at the bottom. You couldn't believe it, your heart swelling with warmth at the unexpected gesture from her. Holding the jersey in your hands, you couldn't help but smile at the thoughtfulness behind her gift.
As if on cue, your phone began buzzing in your pocket and you pulled it out. You quickly accepted the Facetime, a grin on your face as you answered.
"Oh my god, you're insane."
"What? You got the jersey?" Paige feigned shock, a mischievous glint in her eyes as she grinned at you through the screen. "I have no idea how that got there."
You chuckled, shaking your head in disbelief. "Yeah, I got it. Thank you so much, Paige. It's... it's amazing."
Paige's smile softened, her eyes warm with affection. "You're welcome. I just wanted to show my appreciation for you, you know?"
You felt a swell of warmth in your chest. "Well, it definitely made my day. Thanks, P. I really mean it."
Paige smirked as she took you in through the Facetime. "So, I guess you'll have to wear it to my games now, right? You can't let this signed jersey go to waste."
"Is that an invitation, P?" You teased, raising an eyebrow playfully as you grinned at Paige through the screen. The idea of attending Paige's games in her signed jersey filled you with excitement, and you couldn't wait to cheer her on from the stands.
Paige chuckled, her smirk widening. "Yeah, you down? You know our first game's on Thursday night, I'll get you floor tickets and everything."
You didn't think she was serious but the more you thought about it, the more you realized she might actually be serious. The excitement bubbled up within you at the thought of attending Paige's game, especially with floor tickets.
"Are you serious?" you asked, a hint of disbelief in your voice.
"Well, uh. I know it's a long flight but I wanna see you. I'll fly you out, I'll show you around and we can spend some time together, and stuff." Paige's usual confident demeanor was replaced with a touch of nervousness, her eyes searching yours for a reaction.
"Paige, are you sure?" you asked, your voice barely above a whisper. The idea of spending time together in person was both thrilling and nerve-wracking, and you couldn't believe that Paige was offering to fly you out just to see her.
Paige nodded, a shy smile tugging at her lips. "Of course, I would. I mean, if you want to."
"Yeah, of course I would. You're sure?" You spoke softly but earnestly. Flights were expensive, especially when they were as last minute as this.
Paige let out a dramatic sigh as she nodded. "Yes, bro. Yes or no?"
"Yeah, of course. Gosh, so impatient." You teased as Paige laughed through the Facetime.
Paige chuckled, her laughter filling the screen as she rolled her eyes playfully. "Okay, good. Now show me how my jersey looks on you, put it on for me."
You blushed slightly as you nodded, taking the jersey as you walked up the stairs of your house. You couldn't believe it ─ you were flying out to meet Paige in less than a week. You were going to meet Paige Bueckers in less than a week.
──
"Y/N L/N is flying out to see your ass?" KK's voice sounded shocked as sat up on the bed, her eyes wide and her jaw slightly dropped in disbelief.
Paige kept her eyes on her phone as she nodded slowly, as if it was the most normal thing in the world. She tried to keep the whole nonchalant thing going up but her friends could see right through it.
Paige couldn't help but smirk at KK's shocked reaction, though she attempted to maintain an air of nonchalance. "Yeah, she is," she replied casually, her fingers tapping away on her phone.
"She's coming to watch us play, like on Thursday?" KK repeated slowly as she tried to process the information, her eyes still wide with astonishment. "Seriously?"
Paige shrugged, a small smile playing at the corners of her lips. "Yeah, seriously. Why is it so hard to believe?"
Ice, who had been lounging next to KK, chimed in with a smile. "Sounds like you're getting serious, P. Bringing her to a game? That's basically a relationship milestone."
Paige rolled her eyes playfully at Ice's comment. "It's not like that, Ice. We're just friends."
"Does she know that? You're such a fuckboy, Paige." Ice rolled her eyes as she exchanged a look with KK.
Paige couldn't help but laugh at Ice's teasing, though she couldn't deny the warmth spreading through her chest at the thought of you. "Trust me, Ice, she knows. And I'm not a fuckboy, I'm just... being a good friend."
KK chuckled, nudging Ice playfully. "Come on, Ice, let's not scare Paige away from the relationship talk."
"Bro, fuck off," Paige groaned as she sighed, leaning back in the gaming chair.
Paige knew she liked you but at this point, she'd only been texting you for a month and before she could be official with you, she'd have to spend time with you in real life. Plus, you lived in California and long distance was not the ideal for her.
"Are we getting those live show tickets or..." KK began as Paige sent her a glare. She put up her hands in defense as Ice let out a small laugh, shaking her head in amusement.
"Don't worry, we can ask her Thursday," Ice teased as she leaned back in the bed, her grin widening.
"Bro, you better leave her alone-"
"Ooo, she's getting possessive already. You have to remember it's Y/N, bro, she's definitely going to have some fans too." KK laughed, joining in on the teasing with a playful smirk.
Paige rolled her eyes at her friends' banter, though she couldn't help but feel a hint of amusement at their antics. "Guys, come on. Let's not make a big deal out of it."
KK chuckled, nudging Ice with her elbow. "Oh, come on, Paige, we'll behave."
"I'll believe it when I see it," Paige retorted as the girls laughed.

Y/N 🎀 posted on her story !
You were incredibly nervous and the noise of the crowded stadium didn't do much to calm your already frayed nerves. It was your first time meeting Paige in person, and the anticipation had been building up inside you since the moment you boarded the plane to Connecticut.
The plan was to originally go to a pre-game dinner but it didn't really work out because of the traffic and the hectic schedule leading up to the game. Instead, Paige suggested meeting directly at the stadium, where she would give you a tour and introduce you to some of her teammates before the game started.
As you made your way through the crowds, your heart pounded with nervous excitement. Thoughts raced through your mind, wondering if Paige would like you in person as much as she seemed to over text, if you would have enough to talk about, and if you'd be able to keep your nerves in check. You were a nervous wreck, your stomach twisting in anxiety.
You couldn't help but feel a knot forming in your stomach as you scanned the crowd, searching for Paige among the sea of faces. Suddenly, you spotted her standing near the entrance to the court, her eyes scanning the crowd with a look of concentration. Your breath caught in your throat as you made eye contact, and a wave of relief washed over you.
God, she was even more attractive in real life. Her hair was in her signature braided ponytail and had worn some light make-up, her lashes long and her cheeks pink with blush.
Paige's face lit up with a bright smile as she caught sight of you, and she began weaving her way through the crowd towards you. Your nerves melted away as she drew closer, and before you knew it, her arms wrapped around you in a light embrace.
She was even taller than you expected ─ she practically towered over you, but her embrace felt warm and comforting. As she pulled back, you couldn't help but admire the way her eyes sparkled with excitement as she scanned your outfit.
"You're wearing the jersey!" She exclaimed as her eyes took you in, she had no shame in the fact she was checking you out. You didn't miss the way she bit her lip and how her eyes lingered, your face flushing with warmth at her gaze.
"Yeah, I wanted to show my support," you replied, trying to keep your voice steady despite the fluttering of nerves in your stomach. "Plus, it's pretty comfy."
Paige grinned, her smile widening at your response. "Well, you look amazing in it. Maybe even better than I do," she teased, her eyes twinkling with mischief.
You couldn't help but laugh at her teasing, your blush deepening as you looked up at the taller girl. "You're such a flirt,"
Paige bit her lip as her head fell back as she laughed, her laughter filling the air around you and sending a shiver of excitement down your spine. "Nah, I wasn't even trying that time."
Before you could reply, you felt a tap on your shoulder. You turned around to meet the gazes of two girls and a boy, their expressions nervous and excited. "Oh my god, we are such big fans!"
You smiled instantly as you turned your attention toward them. "Aw, thank you, guys. That means the world, would you like a picture?"
The trio's faces lit up with excitement as they nodded eagerly. "Yes, please!" one of the girls exclaimed, her voice filled with excitement.
"Can she take the picture?" One of the girls asked as she gestured toward Paige. She looked like a deer caught in headlights, her hands in her pockets as she exchanged a glance toward you.
"Uh, sure."
You and the fans gathered closer, posing for the picture as Paige stepped back to frame the shot. With a quick press of the button, the photo was taken, capturing the moment. As the fans thanked you both and walked away, chatting animatedly amongst themselves. You glanced toward the blonde as she began laughing, shaking her head.
"What?" You asked as she drew closer to you.
Paige shrugged. "I just kinda forgot you're like famous, or whatever. It kinda gives me like... an ego boost, not gonna lie."
You couldn't help but laugh at Paige's comment, her candidness adding to the lightheartedness of the moment. "Why?"
"You're like this really pretty girl who's super funny and has like, a whole fanbase. And you flew out to see me, you told everyone on your friend's podcast that you had a crush on me and now you're here, just casually hanging out with me, wearing my jersey like it's no big deal," Paige explained, a playful smirk tugging at her lips.
You laughed at her explanation, feeling a warmth spread through you at her words. "Well, to be fair, you're also this incredible basketball player who's basically taking the WNBA world by storm. And you invited me to your game, so I'd say we're pretty even."
"You're boosting my ego even more though, I hope you know that," Paige replied with a playful grin, her eyes sparkling with amusement.
You chuckled, feeling a sense of ease settle between you. "Just returning the favor," you teased, nudging her playfully.
"Okay, I'ma let me show you around now," Paige grinned as she gestured for you to keep walking. Her hands found your waist and began guiding you through the halls, her touch unexpected but undoubtedly welcome.
You couldn't help but feel a rush of excitement at the contact, her touch sending a jolt of electricity through you. With Paige's arm around your waist, guiding you through the busy stadium corridors, you felt a sense of intimacy that was both thrilling and comforting.
──
As you sat in the stands, surrounded by cheering fans and the energy of the game, your heart raced with excitement. You stole glances at Paige on the court, marveling at her skill and grace as she played. Despite your nerves, you couldn't help but feel a sense of pride knowing that you were there to support her.
She was so attractive (even while running around and sweating), she reminded you how much you loved hoopers. The way she moved, the intensity in her eyes as she focused on the game, it all captivated you. Even in the midst of competition, she exuded a confidence and poise that was undeniably attractive.
Your eyes stayed on her the entire game, not paying much attention to anything else. You were so enamored with Paige that you hardly noticed the passage of time. Every movement she made seemed effortless, every shot she took seemed destined to find the net.
As the game reached its end, with the score neck and neck, Paige seemed to rise to the occasion, her determination shining through in every play. And when she sank the winning shot in the final seconds of the game, the crowd erupted into cheers, the sound reverberating throughout the stadium.
You couldn't help but leap to your feet, cheering along with the rest of the fans as you watched Paige celebrate with her teammates on the court.
As the crowd began to disperse and the energy of the game slowly subsided, you made your way down to the court, eager to congratulate Paige. As you approached her, a wide grin spread across her face, and she pulled you into a tight hug, the euphoria of the win still palpable in the air.
Paige didn't care if people took pictures or if people decided to gossip about it later; all she cared about was you being there in that moment.
"You looked really good out there," the words came out of your mouth before you could really process them. Paige pulled out from the hug with a laugh, her arms still around your shoulders.
"And you looked really sexy in the stands, wearing my jersey." Paige smirked playfully, her eyes sparkling with amusement as she teased you.
"I felt like a NBA trophy wife, I was clapping all cutesy cause I knew people were taking pictures of me," you quipped, feeling a rush of excitement at Paige's playful banter. Her laughter was infectious, and you found yourself grinning in response.
Paige chuckled, giving you a playful nudge with her shoulder. "Well, you definitely looked the part," she teased, her tone affectionate as she leaned in closer to you.
You laughed along with her, feeling a sense of warmth and comfort in her presence. "Guess I'll have to start practicing my trophy wife wave for next time," you replied with a playful wink.
"Ooo, next time? Does that mean you'll visit me again?" Paige teased, raising an eyebrow playfully as she looked at you.
You couldn't help but feel a surge of affection for her at her words. "Of course," you replied, your voice filled with sincerity. "But only if you make me a WNBA wife, P."
She squinted as if she was thinking about it, earning a playful shove from you. "I'm just playing, you're the only girl."
"I'd hope so," you scoffed as you playfully rolled your eyes, unable to hide the smile tugging at your lips.
Paige grinned, her eyes sparkling with amusement. "Well, lucky for you, you're my favorite girl," she replied, her tone soft and affectionate.
"So there are other girls?" You teased as she groaned playfully, earning a laugh from you. "I'm just your favorite-"
"That's not what I meant, you're the only one who's wearing my signed jersey, that I sent directly to your house and you're the only one who gets good morning texts and fit checks." Paige countered, her playful smirk widening into a genuine smile.
You couldn't help but laugh at her response, feeling a sense of warmth and happiness fill your chest. "Yeah, I guess you're right," you replied, your tone light and teasing.
Before Paige could reply, she saw Ice and KK approaching from behind you. She sighed as you turned around, meeting their excited gaze.
Paige sighed playfully as she turned to greet Ice and KK, who were clearly eager to join in on the conversation. "Hey, what's up, you two?" she greeted them with a smile, her eyes flickering with amusement.
Ice and KK exchanged a knowing look before KK grinned mischievously. "So, are we interrupting something here?" she teased, wiggling her eyebrows suggestively.
Paige rolled her eyes, but couldn't hide the smile tugging at her lips. "Y/N, this is KK and Ice. Don't worry about them though, they're just stupid freshman who think they're the shit-"
"Bro, says you!" KK shouted as you laughed, exchanging a smile with Ice.
"I know who you guys are, P talks about you a lot," you said, offering a friendly smile to KK and Ice. "Nice to finally meet you both."
KK's eyes lit up with excitement. "Oh, really? What does she say about us?" she asked eagerly, leaning in closer with a playful grin.
Paige let out a groan, shooting you an amused glance before replying, "Only good things, I promise."
"Yeah, she loves you guys." You smiled as you glanced between Paige, KK, and Ice. "Always talking about your antics and how you keep things interesting."
"She talks about you too, like nonstop." KK began before she earned a shove from a very flustered Paige.
Ice continued, "We thought she was lying until we watched your episode with Tana and Brooke, then we were confused cause you like Paige?"
"Why are you saying it like that? Paige?" Paige mocked Ice, earning a laugh from you and KK.
"Cause Y/N's like a whole baddie, like a 20/20 and you're just like... mid at basketball," Ice explained as Paige sent her a playful glare. "People are gonna be really confused until they see how much you make, then they'll be like ohh,"
"Shut up, bro," Paige replied, but there was a fondness in her tone as she exchanged playful banter with Ice. "It's not about basketball skills, it's about the person."
"Sure, sure," KK chimed in with a grin. "We all know you're a catch, Paige. But hey, if Y/N's into it, who are we to judge?"
You laughed at the girls banter, exchanging a smile with Paige as Ice and KK did the same. "Y/N, we have a question."
"Oh no, bro," Paige groaned as KK nudged her slightly, telling her to be quiet as you nodded, laughing softly.
"Can you get us tickets to Tana and Brooke's shows? Please, we really really wanna go," KK asked, her excitement palpable.
You couldn't help but chuckle at KK's eagerness. "Sure! I'll reach out to them get you guys some," you replied with a smile, already mentally making a note to message Tana and Brooke about it later.
Paige rolled her eyes playfully. "Great, now you're getting my girl to do favors for you," she joked, earning a laugh from both you and KK.
"Your girl?" Ice responded as she raised her brow. "Okay, I see you P, already locking it down."
Paige's cheeks flushed slightly as she playfully nudged Ice. "Shut up, Ice. You know what I mean."
KK leaned in with a mischievous grin. "Oh, we know what you mean, Paige. You're just too scared to admit it."
"Okay, well. Thank you so much, Y/N, you're even more stunning in person. I'll leave you guys to it, now," Ice smirked as she grabbed KK and began walking off the court, toward the team.
Paige let out a sigh before she turned over to meet your eyes, a softness to softness to her expression that made your heart flutter. "Sorry about them, they're like that all the time," she said with a chuckle.
You shook your head with a smile, feeling a sense of contentment settle over you. "No, no, they seem really sweet. They remind me of Tana and Brooke though," you laughed as Paige nodded.
"Uh, sure!" Paige teased as you shook your head in amusement. "I need to go take a shower but um, maybe you can come over?"
Your smile widened at the request as you nodded. "Yeah, sounds like fun."
Again, her hand found the small of your back as she led you toward the team. She was soon reminded of a team celebration they were planning on doing later and the girls insisted on bringing you, she realized that you had become their favorite, too.
But she couldn't blame them, you were perfect.

I am saying words to you
Uh
Tell me about planet bots
Uh
What was your thought process when making them all
idk, just tell me about them a lot
see its so hard for me to explain things like this without. drawing what i mean LOL but i'll try to.
originally the concept for pb was way different than what it is, it was going to be a cartoon(in lore.not for real) centered around my sona design. it was Heavily inspired by milky way and the galaxy girls and my idea was like "ok what if i did that but robots". when i started thinking about the designs i wanted them to all have a screen for a face but then i switched to trying to make them more distinct from each other. i do actually have some early drawings of th designs that are funny to look at
mercury was going to be the pissy one but that ended up being uranus instead. changed them a Lot because it looked very similar to my sona. mars is basically the same.i ditched th second monitor bc it was annoying to draw over and over but tbh i still think this design kinda goes even if its a bit of a mess
i was going to skip having a character for earth (mwgg doesn't) but i thought the concept of having like. One normal human guy would be silly and interesting. so they ended up being the 'main character' instead of my sona and the tv show thing was dropped for something else thats. spoilers. but their design was pretty much always the same too, i just ended up switching to white glasses eventually
character wise venus was always like.the same. she got more orange and brown over time and i took th halo away since it was clashing with saturn and uranus having rings lol. her initial design has So Much it was hard to simplify things so i didn't draw her a ton until i made it look nicer. i still think the dust cloud bracelets are kinda cool though. imgonna continue in a reblog because the post editor is fucking up
#i'm so embarrassed abt sharing ancient ass art like this but its fun to look back on#asks#planetbots

How do you think young Joseph handled being a loner and a delinquent in high school? Than some how became a teacher himself in an 80's kids show? I wonder what his reaction was like when he find out he was playing a role as a teacher when he was a trouble maker that dropped out of high school?
We don't know a lot about Joseph (or at least I don't from falling off for two years lol) so this is just my opinion/speculation.
It feels a lot like Joseph didn't come from the greatest home, life, upbringing. Being a loner could've been out of self preservation and just the belief that, well...if he isn't wanted at home, why would he be wanted at all? By anyone? In highschool, it's a pretty important time for anyone trying to figure themselves out, their lot in the world, and whathaveyou. So that heavy shit can absolutely take a heavy toll.
Maybe people don't want to be around him but he deep down wants to be around people, wants someone to care about him, who wouldn't? Everyone wants to be accepted and understood but perhaps he feels that's too much to ask of someone, at least where he's at in his youth. Maybe that's what leads him to believe that picking up and pursuing a dream that puts him in a spotlight, where people are adored, will give him a better life and a fresh start. Maybe then he'll be known. Loved. Understood.
Leading into being a delinquent - it's also not uncommon to act out for attention. Negative, positive, it doesn't really matter to most and I think that can be applied to Joseph too. Attention is attention, to be seen or heard, is acknowledgment of existence. I think it was a means to cope, and to feel something. Drinking gets you drunk, smoking quells stress, getting into a fight - win or lose, ya feel it on you. It's something. And tapping back to being a loner, getting into those things can lead to being some social.
Maybe being a delinquent was how he found some friends or if not good friends, people he was content enough to spend his time with versus being entirely alone. Is it good? No. But it's something and it's certainly better than nothing.
And Joseph is a handsome guy, I'd be remiss to say if that didn't play a part in the latter either. And if you wanna be an actor, a star, you gotta look good. And an edge often makes people gravitate towards you too.
But when he's cast as Sunny Day Jack, an optimistic lead to teach kids important lessons and such on a large scale such as a prime time tv show- maybe at first Joseph believes it's a good starting gig. Gets his face out there, opens doors for him, and it makes money. Even if it's just framed to start out as a PBS style program, it's a lead role and that's nothing to sniff at in getting what he wants to be his dream, his career, off the ground.
In my opinion, based on Jack (from my memory anyway)- this is a chance at giving some kids perhaps what he never had. Maybe it's redemption, maybe it's more coping, but I believe he really leans into it. He can be the friend to some kid that he never had, be the teacher to some that he never had, maybe even keep some from going through the shit he went through. That an education is important, that having good friends and treating them well is important.
Ultimately Joseph views it as a good thing all around, for himself and others. Maybe he leans all the way into it and the Jack persona becomes who and what he wants to be that then escalates somehow into the Jack we meet. Eager to forget anything and everything he's done to just be good and be loved but not above doing what he has to in order to keep it. We don't know what happens in between to get him/them to where we are in the game, just that it isn't good.
So until what happens, inevitably happens...that's my opinion on it lol.

first off, i fully agree with what you’ve said about why those specific memories of sam’s were shown to them! but i’ve been trying (and kinda failing) to figure out why those ones of dean’s memories were shown, like if there’s a reason beyond the comparison of: dean’s are with his family vs sam’s are not. do you think that’s really it, that comparison, or have you seen any other deeper layers/meanings to the memories chosen for dean? (hope this makes sense lol)
context
I think the memory in the field with the fireworks is for contrast. Sam doesn't see that one. It represents to Dean not only his fondness for his little brother, but also what he was willing to do just to make Sam happy. The fireworks Dean bought weren't just your standard Roman Candles or bottle rockets. He bought expensive types that create major light shows in the sky, and those aren't cheap, and we know John didn't help because Sam implies he wouldn't have approved—which means Dean also risked doing this behind John's back and possibly facing some kind of punishment for drawing attention or wasting money. It also represents Dean trying his hardest to make holidays happy and normal for Sam (these fireworks were shot on 4th of July). When he locates Sam immediately after, it's enjoying a major holiday at someone else's house, because (from Dean's perspective) Dean's attempts weren't good enough no matter how hard he tried.
As for the memory with Mary—which is the Dean memory that Sam gets to see—I think it helps to suppose that if Sam's memories are intended to tell Dean something, Dean's memories are meant to tell Sam something. In the Mary memory, we see that twinge of loss—and maybe not quite envy—but some form of grief from Sam when Dean gets to enjoy that memory with Mary in their old house and Sam doesn't. Sam tries to speak to Mary, but she can't see him. Those happy memories are something Sam isn't able to touch, and I think that colors his response later when Dean asks why all his memories are being away from their family. Sam jumps to "I didn't get the crust cut off my PB&J" because he's still thinking about and grieving that loss, and is probably wondering if he'd have that desire for tenderness that's so present in Dean's interactions with Mary, if Sam had ever gotten the chance to know her as a mom.
Like—contrary to fanon narrative, in the actual show Supernatural, there is a tenderness in Dean that simply isn't that present in Sam's interactions with others up to season 5. Sam loves their family, and his sense of filial piety in particular becomes very strong (see: 2.02, 2.05, actual Sam in 2.20, 4.19, 5.13), but he primarily thinks of family by season 5 as a source of security, strength, and built-in community in a world where most "normal" connections aren't possible. See what he tells "Adam" in 4.19:
Being a hunter isn't a job, Adam. It's life. You're pre-med. You got a girlfriend, friends? Not anymore you don't. If you're really gonna do this, you can't have those kinds of connections, ever. They're weaknesses. You'll just put those people in danger, get them killed. That's the price we pay. You cut 'em out, and you don't look back. There's only one thing you can count on. Family.
In his interactions with "Adam", he focuses on teaching him the ropes. In his interactions with found family like Bobby, he avoids the hard conversations riddled with painful emotions and risk of seeing someone get hurt/killed and focuses on the mission. When he can tell Dean isn't doing well in season 2 and 4, he pushes Dean to open up then flips the narrative to wanting Dean to get over it as soon as he knows what's going on. He isn't actually a very (genuinely) tender person by default up to this point. So maybe he sees a connection between Dean's capacity for tenderness and desire for tenderness and their mother's affections when Dean was a child, and thinks "Well I didn't get that, and that's why I'm like this." Neither he nor Dean actually ever clock that Zachariah is leading them to the specific memories he wants them to see.

Found these on Pinterest. Thought I’d drop em by you and share my thoughts.
Idk what they’re trying to say. But I don’t like looking at it, so moving on.
Idk much about Bubbline since I’m not that far I to the show. But something tells me it’s not remotely the same. All I know is that PB was super racist and called Marcy ‘monster trash’ the second before Marcy broke up. Might’ve actually been the reason why Marcy dumped her. Idk.
Hey now. Don’t do that.😃 Also, Romeo and Juliet is a CAUTIONARY tale, so… Unless this person is acknowledging C//A would be some mutually self destructive shit, this person is implying quite a few things, all objectively wrong. But I don’t have time to unpack all that now. Also I say mutually, not that Adora is abusive, but that Catra’s weird complex would assure her very proximity to Adora would make her feel inferior, meaning she’d be hurt in some way too. Not Adora’s fault, but still.
Kids. Literal kids. Like look, I’m fine with media explaining that teens can sexual, since it reflects reality and a lot of teens irl ARE sexually active or at least exploring their sexuality. I mean, I wasn’t an active teen, but again, I explored my own sexuality. So that’s fine I guess. But there’s a difference between reflecting the reality of teen sexuality and actively sexualizing underage characters. It’s about framing. And THIS is being framed in a creepy way. Not in a ‘let’s face it, it happens, it’s puberty, it’s normal’ sort of way, but they do it as a ‘look how hot this is! Lol’ way. And I don’t like that. It’s creepy, and low key a bit belittling.
Okay… Entrapta is like 10-15 years older than Adora. So maybe don’t draw her like this since that’d make her a pedophile/ephebophile which I hate for a number of reasons. Also, Adora is a lesbian in this version, so idk why Bow and Sea Hawk are there. So… yeah. Literally half of them shouldn’t be here.
Hi! First off, please censor the names of the posters of the tweets. Just want to make sure nobody harasses them, ok! Time to dissect them!
Ew, thanks for showing me Adora's scars that she got from her future girlfriend!
Bubbline is so much healthier than c//a!? It's sad how people will compare any wlw ship to c//a. Also, STOP ROMANTICIZING THE PRINCESS PROM DANCE!
Ew, reminder Romeo was much older than Juliet, and Juliet was still a minor, honestly the way it's a toxic ship that was romanticized reminds me of c//a.
Again, CHILDREN. LITERAL CHILDREN! And Adora didn't even want to have this dance in the first place?? Catra literally forced her into it, then dipped her SO LOW that she couldn't support herself, so she had to put her leg there, STOP SEXUALIZING TEENS!
EWWWW! Again, Adora is a lesbian, so Bow shouldn't be there, Sea Hawk looks like a literal adult even though he said to be a teen, Glimmer and Mermista are the only ones who have shown interest in Adora out of these, Glimmer has good chemistry with her, Mermista has blushed at her a handful of times and ENTRAPTA IS LITERAL 30!

Gonna start out with im white but tbh thats probably obvious so like. You rbed an interview about Miles G's hair and ive been wondering
Are there specific stereotypes to certain black hairstyles? Im curious bc i do character design a lot, and tbh ive always thought the double braids was a really cool look, are there implications to it? Or is it just regular racism from nonblack people that make some view it as "thug" as opposed to just a normal hairstyle.
Like when i was little i used to have my hair like that all the time, and i still do it sometimes bc its really good for hot weather, so i kinda associate it more with beating the heat/good hairstyle for when you're gonna get sweaty than anything else lol
🤣 it tis obvious, but I'm gonna answer this for you and anyone else who wants to start looking into it bc yes this is very important. So let's talk about it!
(this became a history lesson I did not mean to give lmaoooo)
The CROWN Act
PBS Transcript- How Hair Discrimination impacts Black Americans...
So first, to be frank: it's Racism. Understand that this shit is rooted in White Supremacy towards any nonwhite hair. I'm also approaching this from a Black American standpoint. While I won't be discussing their perspective bc it's better for one of them to do it, Native Americans also have a long history of White society forcing them to cut their hair, regardless of the religious/spiritual/symbolic importance. It, and its damage, lasts til today. And head wraps? Psht almost all of Brown America has a story.
In the beginning, they had enslaved Black women (and then through Jim Crow) cover their hair altogether. It was somehow seen as a way to protect property, then to call our hair ugly and an affront to whiteness, and yet a Jezebel lure for White men to sin (i.e. rape Black women, but White women didn't think that was possible so it HAD to be that concubine!!) This perception lasts to this day. Later, it turned into Assimilation or die- hair presses and conks to better meet white beauty standards. Being proud of our afros and natural hair had a revival in the 60s and 70s, and (this is subjective) i noticed it again in the 2010s with women and natural hair.
To present: You gotta realize that having afros, cornrows, braids, and locs is enough to get Black kids kicked out of some schools and extracurriculars. An entire education or valuable experience, and you cant have it bc of the hair that grows out your head. One of the saddest videos I've ever seen was when they forced a Black teen to cut off his locs (i.e. they held him there, looking miserable, as they sheared off his hair) in order to compete in a wrestling tournament, and all the white people in that place did was watch. No one stood up for him, as he sat there getting handled like property (bc his Black body was bringing them wins but his hair was just TOO MUCH 🙄 but that's a whole Convo about Blackness, Whiteness, and Sports).
My brother went to Catholic school and they basically said he couldn't grow his hair out. None of the looks we ascribe to our culture were allowed. The girls, unless it was flat ironed (to replicate whiteness), couldn't have long braids. Certainly no locs. Meanwhile, white girls can grow their hair out as long as the sun is old, and it's treated like innocent, beautiful youth.
And this lasts into adulthood with jobs! Bc that socialization, the idea that some hair is better than others, LASTS. A newslady just took her wig off to reveal her locs on camera, after hiding it for a decade because of public perceptions. The idea that if I have locs, oh they must be dirty (they're not), so they don't care about their physical appearance and we can't hire them. Like when that old white woman said that Zendaya's faux locs probably smelled like patchouli- that was an assessment purely made on stereotype.
This is also why we get so annoyed when white people- white women in particular- wear their hair in these styles. It's usually associated with "being edgy, being rebellious and older" (i.e., bc being a Black girl is so far from what you're supposed to be as a White girl, it's not innocent or valuable, it's dangerous and it makes everyone notice you) and as soon as they're done, it's back to Mother Mary of Whiteness. It's how cornrows and braids on Black and Latino men (or both, like Miles and Miles G!) are misperceived as gang or hood shit, but a kpop rapper will get them poorly done and it's 'cool' 🙄 it's White men with dreads (I refuse to ever call them locs bc they are NOT) who think they're in their "hippie/fight the power phase" cut them when it's "time to be respectable", but when a Black man with nice locs has them already he's suspicious.
You're basically saying that being Me/Black is a trashy, edgy phase that will never succeed, but it's cool for when you wanna feel Different!
*it's also why it pisses me off in fandom spaces when people refuse to give brown characters their hair texture (or whitewash at all!). It's a statement, that "good hair" is White, and "not good/aesthetic hair" is Black. You might not think that's what you're saying, but it's what you're saying, and every Black viewer of your art can hear it loud and clear. So if you're a character designer, put some thought behind and give your Black characters their features. It'll make you a better artist and a better person.
Anyway, to come back full circle to your question: as far as I'm aware, no, there's no "bad implications" of Miles G or his braids. Nothing we wear on our head is inherently bad, just like him. But bc we've all been raised in White society to unconsciously and consciously associate certain stereotypes with these looks, Black and Brown viewers of ATSV were quite worried that that statement was being made. It was nice to hear that it wasn't.

i haven't yet gotten to book 2 but i read the wiki just in case and then i got to this part... WHAT. like literally what. i'm guessing what's happening here is one of two options
what they actually mean is "the third option depends on your character's pronouns, unless they use they/them pronouns, in that case it depends on their body type" but they didn't actually word it like that because it'd seem transphobic as fuck
they really do mean it depends strictly on mc's body type, not pronouns at all, meaning an mc that looks fem according to body type but uses he/him pronouns will still be called "queen" by the game and viceversa
long ass rant incoming lol
and it's not even specifically this fuck up in a supposedly "inclusive" book that makes me so mad but the fact that there's also the one MAH scene, the scene that discusses queer identities openly and maturely in a book that's supposed to be one of the most inclusive and queer friendly in the entire app, that when it's mc's turn to speak on what they've experienced, if they have a body type that doesn't match their pronouns and have romanced a li with the opposite pronouns (ie feminine body type, he/him pronouns and romanced stevie, or masculine body type, she/her pronouns and romanced a male li) the game treats mc like a cishet person by default and completely ignores body type. i don't know about y'all but i certainly find it ironic that, again, in one of the most queer friendly books, the only option to be considered queer "by default" by the game (and thus get the question of what you've experienced) if you're playing as a trans mc is to date someone of the same gender.
but let's go back to crimes of passion for a moment, specifically the very first chapter. despite the dialogue here depending only on body type instead of pronouns, in the case of the first chapter (specifically the scene where trystan and mc first meet) it's a completely different situation, here it does depend strictly on pronouns even if it literally doesn't make sense. in my first ever play, i played as my usual mc, a nb!mc romancing m!trystan, and me being nb, trystan called me "a stranger". not particularly unusual, right? after all, "stranger" is gender neutral, and so i thought that was the dialogue in all cases. well... it's not. i decided to play differently, specifically with the masc body type, she/her pronouns, and f!trystan. she literally called me a "strange woman" despite not being able to guess that mc's pronouns are she/her just by looking at her, because obviously there's only two body types, fem and masc, and it's not like we ever get gnc clothing styles. that, and in all cases mc never tells trystan their pronouns, so even in the nb!mc play i got quite startled at "they're a private detective". yes, that can be interpreted as trystan simply not wanting to assume genders or it being a case of culture shock from drakovia, but then what about my masc f!mc?
and that's because pb never intended to add inclusivity in terms of binary trans mcs, or even just queer mcs beyond "gay, lesbian, bi, or non-binary BUT if they're nb they have to be either fem or masc" (see: option to pick specific sexuality for mc only appearing in the elementalists and then never again, except in the royal masquerade but they removed the option to be ace so that doesn't count for me). they never intended for players to play as a masculine looking mc that uses she/her or a feminine looking mc that uses he/him.
if they really cared about inclusivity, they would let mcs be androgynous. they would add skirts, dresses, stereotypically "fem" clothing - or just clothing that isn't just a plain t shirt or a suit in formal situations for amab or masc looking mcs. they would add more pants, baggy clothing, more stereotypically "masc" clothing - or just options that aren't always incredibly revealing slinky dresses or crop tops and short skirts meant to "emphasize your sexy feminine curves" for afab or fem looking mcs. THEY WOULD ADD NON BINARY LIS AND MORE TRANS LIS. they wouldn't have the only option to play as an explicitly trans mc (or, well, the closest thing to "explicitly trans" there can be given there's absolutely no dialogue or even implication about mc being trans in any pronoun of choice book, save for MAH but i already complained about my problems) be playing with an extremely feminine/masculine body type and having the pronouns as the only indication mc is trans, completely ignoring the dysphoria that'd give many actually trans players.
no, that's not their intention and it's never been that. their sole reason for adding the "body type separate from pronouns" is to categorize mcs that use they/them and tell them they have to be either feminine or masculine, no androgynous or gender non conforming options at all. basically the question "but are you a GIRL non binary or a BOY non binary?" they would've probably forced she/her or he/him mcs into their respective body types and only ask "but are you a pretty feminine afab enby or a handsome masculine amab enby" to they/them mcs but they knew they'd get the backlash of their lives for that so they just went "we'll just ask for body type regardless, it's not like players will actually pick he/him pronouns while playing as a WOMAN right???"
conclusion/tldr. if pb actually wanted inclusivity, they can actually put in the work and acknowledge that people do want to play as an explicitly queer mc beyond just same gender relationships and performatively adding they/them pronouns to only SOME goc books, or else just don't do anything and show they don't care at all. not pretend they care but only add the bare minimum and pat themselves on the back for it.

Seren's Studies: The Odd Squad UK Trailer
Well, 8 days after my birthday really ain't bad for a belated gift. At this point I'll take what I can get.
Even if it means I have to crawl out of sleep to do it.
*deep sigh*
So you might be thinking, "Hold on, we got a new trailer?" And to that I say yes. Yes we did. PBS grew enough balls to actually give Odd Squad some love during a programming initiative that has absolutely nothing to do with it. And they put it on Vimeo, apparently, which puts all the audition videos that have been unearthed (for OSUK, OSMU, and Odd Squad) in an entirely new light.
But wah wah wah, you didn't come here to read my ding-dong ramblings. You came here to watch me be the biggest loser to ever lose at losing and dissect a 30-second trailer on a weekend. You know how movie trailers stuff all the important bits about a movie into 30 seconds? This is the telly equivalent.
Below the break, I'm going to shred this trailer to pieces, scream, cry, and of course, analyze. Come join me, if you dare.
So I'm going to reiterate a point I made in the Seren's Studies essay for the gadget competition video in regards to Ozzie, in that he's wearing an outfit that looks like it belongs to some kind of Flight department. (And yes, my headcanon about there being a boat that can travel in the sky shall remain strong in spite of this trailer. Whether it will be shot down like a cannonball through a boat that can travel in the sky remains to be seen.)
But anyway. We have him carrying a box (transferring departments?), what looks to be some kind of agent in the back (Security?), and what looks to me like an old Nissan logo against a map (of the UK? yes, of the UK, duh). Off to a hell of a start here.
The trailer doesn't give us the name of this girl -- which is odd, considering she's one of the protagonists -- but just as a refresher: this is Orli, who is from the Canadian side of the Niagara Falls (because of course) and transfers to the UK precinct in order to help with rising oddness rates. My guess is that, while Ozzie transfers from departments, Orli will transfer from precincts. Essentially, she's there to help Americans like myself (and also children, and also parents) understand British terms and culture. Which is fine, because otherwise kids would understand jack about how the United Kingdom does things beyond what's represented in media.
And we have a look at our first villainess! This is The Trifler, named after a British dessert and armed with the power to turn things into...well yeah, trifles. If you've been keeping up with the news, then you're probably aware that a BTS photo of her was found last year when OSUK was getting off the ground. Now, we have her in an official capacity!
I will say that I love the wordplay used here. Combining the British and American definitions of the word "trifle" into a badass introductory phrase is absolutely beautiful and I want more of it.
Haha lol shot from the press release big funy now laugh.
...Wait, hold on, does that mean the image used for the press release was a BTS photo? Because this sure as hell isn't the same angle.
Oh my God.
Not my absolute dumb ass thinking the context of this scene was a welcome party for Orli, only for the celebration to be for a fucking movie opening that got the attention of local news outlets and Eric Stonestreet.
...Okay, the telephone box is great too, and if there's not another Doctor Who reference they can yote in there then we riot, but I- a fucking opening of a movie?
...
Hold on, I'm noticing the Odd Squad logo on the popcorn and the cup.
This is Odd Squad: The Movie opening in the UK, isn't it.
Ah yes. Because I sure would fuckin' love to relive the joy I had when the "Odd Beginnings" two-parter decided to make the movie an in-universe piece of media. Look, I me- you guys had to be there when I recorded the Seren Reacts video. I was taken aback. I nearly fell off the bed. I was tempted to go to the neighbors and sit on their picnic table and cry. And that was when the COVID pandemic was a new thing!
And now I get to experience the hell all over again, four years later, when the pandemic is (largely) over and I'm in my mid-20s.
Look, if they're keen on torturing me like this, then that's how you really know it's a return to form. All they need to do is drop the word "serendipity" somewhere in there and I'll launch myself off the cliff and into the water and hopefully not on a pointy rock.
Normally I'd say how happy I am to see the tubes again after they got one dedicated episode and a handful of appearances and mentions besides that in Season 3, but..."Down the Tubes" is one of my favorite episodes for sleep-talking Oswald alone. And in Season 3, my total count for favorite episodes I can count on only one hand.
Worth noting, though, that in addition to the UK Headquarters being located in an abandoned train station, the tubes are named after the London Underground. Because...y'know, the Tube, and...yeah, they couldn't pass that pun up because they need Britain money somehow.
See, this is how you can tell I'm an Odd Squad veteran.
I can, with about 90% accuracy, pinpoint the context of a scene only seen by few. For example, I can tell you that this is Orli fighting with a woman over tour bus tickets by playing RPS. Because fuck her American money, American money does not net you tour bus tickets to tour the UK and...uh...well, I don't know if Ozzie has any pounds to buy any.
Ah? Aaaaaaaaaahh? Man, I'm good!
Unless Oddmented Reality had some (and please don't ask me, I've never played it), we've now had flying books in every season bar Season 2.
Honestly, that's a sin.
If this means the return of cold opens, then bless them.
It's 12 episodes with 11-minute time limits, though, so I'm a little wary...but bless them. Season 3 had only a select few before they laughed and tossed the concept out, so this is a good return to form.
Also, this is hella good camera work.
I'm...at least inclined to believe this is Ozzie attempting to boost workplace morale by getting a few agents-in-training to cheer.
Which is great, but I'm just thinking of Olympia asking Otis how he feels about his cheerleading skills and and him telling her they're perfect. It works, because Ozzie kinda looks like Otis!
Hey, hey, you guys remember aaaaaaaall the way back in "Zero Effect" where they had that shot of the agents cheering?
You guys also remember the last episode of OddTube S1?
This is like a mishymashy of that and it is glorious.
Also, our first look at the girl who is, by every sense, part of the Flight department. And Onom, even though he got a mention in the gadget-making competition video.
A few folks were asking about this, so I feel the need to clarify that this is a thing in the Oddverse that has been done numerous times before, especially in the first two seasons. You don't wanna blow 10 seconds of airtime on having two agents find the nearest tube entrance, let 'em phase through the floor.
'Tis magic, baby.
I can also predict, with about 70% accuracy, how the OSUK premiere is gonna go.
...
It's gonna end with Ozzie being transferred/promoted/demoted to the Investigation department, isn't it.
Look, the franchise's timeline is a bitch and scares all the neuroscience people at Harvard Medical School, but I did this before with a simple Season 3 trailer and I got a fair bit of it right. When a few OSUK episode titles and synopses come out, then we'll see if I'm gonna reach for the stars or fall hard on my ass.
Okay, I'm inclined to take the logic applied to New York City and apply it here, in that it's too much money and effort and time to edit every piece of signage here into a Shmumber-fied equivalent...
But that's a fucking McDonald's ad up there near the top, and let's be honest, that's one of the most gobsmacking things about the whole damn trailer. We already have a Burger King replacement, so having a McShmumber's is absolutely not out of the question.
(Also, that meal deal is $5 USD. If you're an American, I don't need to explain why this makes me more irrationally angry than it should.)
Besides that, Orli, this is a one-way, two-lane (with possible merger) street, which can absolutely be seen in areas like this in the United States and I don't know why I'm bringing this up since agents cannot and have not been automotively inclined.
"No, that's not odd. It's Britain."
Dumb lil' American I am (who is, in fact, aware how British people drive), but I gave a visceral cough at this line. This is the kind of shit OSMU should have gotten, and failed to deliver.
That aside, though, Ozzie has a bit of a different icon on his shirt now. It's either the London Bridge or a black H, and I know Fergie would cry her eyes out looking at it, bless her soul.
"I'm blue! And if I were green I would die! If I were green I would die, if I were green I would die, if-"
Okay, okay, I had to get that out of the way. I'm sorry. I'm never sorry.
The smartwatches were also something seen in BTS photos back when OSUK was first announced to be a thing. Still running on that Apple technology and crushing creativity.
Perhaps the best sleep paralysis demon I've seen since Yui in the Precure All-Stars F movie.
All right, I'm starting to see the massive differences between this Headquarters and the Headquarters of yore. Keyholes, the blue thing meant to be a simpler copy of the metallic circle structure, the...I mean it do be fuckin' big...
Also, we got our first look at a moving breathing Chef O, who's on promotional material at the very least but isn't exactly a main character. Sort of like what Oksana was: a side character.
Hey, it could be worse. It could be a Ginormouse coming to eat you up for lunch.
(For the non-believers: this is the Oddverse. I'm not explaining shit.)
I see somewhere in the crew of this show we have a boomer who still believes in the usage of the digital camera in the year of our Lord 2024.
No, but seriously. It wasn't believable in 2014 when Otto owned one, and it's less believable now. I've been more frustrated about this than about the badge phones, because there's only so much ironic low-tech stuff I can take before I drop everything and leave.
I was gonna write a joke about how they used to feed cocaine to mice in the 80s for anti-drug PSAs, but someone apparently wrote it for me. Which, unsurprisingly, is not the first time that's happened.
That's on you for not being Odd Squad-savvy.
All of you.
Yes, even Captain O.
-------------------------------------
And that's it. A short trailer, but a hell of a goodie. I'm honestly hyped for this return to form, especially as we approach the franchise's 10th anniversary. Hopefully, the crew has at least learned from its mistakes with Odd Squad Mobile Unit, and will make the most out of these 12 episodes.
And because even this show isn't immune to the curse: if you like what you see here and want more episodes to come beyond the 12 we're getting, watch the ever-loving hell out of this show. Legally, of course. Boost its ratings. The crew is definitely up for making more.
...And donate to your local PBS station if you got a Lincoln or two lyin' around. That too.
Thanks for reading. If you want to view the trailer for yourself, you can do so here:

October Choices Insiders Tidbits
Fairies!?! I was so hoping that we'd play as a supernatural creature instead of a human so maybe.... 🤞🏽. But it's definitely going to be love triangle if that red 🔺️ is any clue.
Idk about the tractor emoji but guessing at some of the emojis, I'm wondering if mc's dad murder was about money/gambling or drugs that he was trying to crack the case aka the scales of justice? The thread and the baseball makes me think of how mc's dad was murdered at a baseball game so maybe mc will end up putting it all together by going back in their memory aka "the thread that leads to the answers" or whatever.
I mean Bitten and COP3 aren't the short holiday books the readers meant but ok.
I'm thinking Alpha 2 will come out to vip either in January or February, possibly March. Which I don't really care because I didn't much care for Channing and the first book but it'll be fun to play as a werewolf instead of a human.
Might as well said no, pb lol we ain't getting 100 ads back. If we're lucky they'll increase it by maybe 5 or 10.
Best Served Haute sounds a lot like a fashion designer book. Maybe a redo of Hot Couture? Or it could be a cooking book like Slow Burn. More than likely with a gender locked f!mc with a single LI. VIP will probably get BSH in December and Alpha 2 in January.
Very underwhelming for wide release. We already knew the release month for PO and Blades 3. And the exact release date for PO 🙄
Hmm...Knock Knock and The Shadow could be intriguing. Especially since they're immediately going to be wide released. A first in what 2 years?
Inheritance sounds like it's going to be about an mc trying to inherit their family's business. Wanna bet the LI is our lawyer?
Years Apart...am I reading it wrong or does it sound like the LI is genderlocked male? I'm not reading it if the mc and LI is genderlocked to a heterosexual relationship. It would be neat if the LI was goc because it sounds like mc might be a cougar lol
......oh, OH...Years Apart as in years apart in AGE, not time apart so yeah there's going to be an age gap, which makes sense if he's your ex's protégé/successor.

WHB Belphie discussion! (Again)
I'm gonna be going back and rewriting some of my theories.
So first off, according to this post, Belphie seems... More lenient than he seems. Which means he's definitely not that strict and/or maybe doesn't care as much about what his people do or where they go? (Or maybe that's just because those three are high-ranking devils so of course they have more freedom)
Which makes me retract on my earlier statement from my previous post:
for some reason, I have a feeling that he's very mean? Or like, he's one of those who will bully MC LOL
(though I can't tell if it's bully because he likes mc, or bully because that's just how he is)
Or at least, he isn't the type to just punish his people because he got irritated (unlike Levi) so it makes me think that he probably bullies MC because he likes them. That's just his attitude when it comes to the person he likes. He treats them... Not like shit, but not very nicely either hahaha.
OH and I just realized from the post I mentioned earlier that Dre has a halo! What?! I completely forgot about that so I'm embarrassed about what I said regarding Belphie's halo—
......I was going to say something about Belphie wearing angel limbs/pieces as accessories, but after seeing @/aki-shun's and @/sparkbeast20's observation and theories, I'm starting to think that the halo is indeed because of an experiment. From their observation, Belphie, Levi and Mammon are the only kings so far that had their mouths closed in their teasers, all the other kings do not.
Which leaves me with a foreboding feeling...Both the halo and the double pupils are definitely part of that experiment.
I'm only aware with Levi's past of escaping from an angel camp, and I've only just recently (like, a few hours ago) found out that Mammon has been as well. Which makes me think Belphie definitely also got 'napped and experimented on by the angels. Which is just so 😭 I wanna hug him (until he pushes me away lmao)
Also, thanks for @/eternal-auditor for reminding me of Beel's obscenely delicious looking dick and the tattoo on it that Belphie also has on his forehead which is.... honestly so boring. They're devils and they have tattoos of The Devil's insignias...but I guess PB has done worse...
Ah, but having another devil that has tattoos is nice, don't get me wrong. I wonder how many Belphie will have. I reckon he has a lot (and I also reckon it's to cover up some of his lingering scars).
Also I drew him some more in school. I tried to incorporate that halo he has and changed his attire to resemble Dre's since it's supposed to be a uniform.
(sorry about the quality, I'm too lazy to redraw this in ibis)
I redesigned his hair in this because I just realized that he could also have a half-up do and still look like the teaser!!! I was wearing this style earlier (but less pointy and ragged because my hair was long and wet and incredibly straight) so I thought why not give him this? He looks like he could be drinking champagne while murdering people with Sanzu lmao. Very mafia-esque which I ADORE
Also also!!! Going back to sparkbeast20's post, there's a Twitter post by @/WHB_kiri where they drew Belphie's eye where it only shows the second (upper) pupil when he's serious. So here's the last of my two cents!
Wouldn't it be fun if his pupils rotated as well? Like the swirly spin wheel thing that hypnotists use to make someone fall asleep etc. but it's Belphie trying to threaten someone. That would be fun.
Aaaanyway, I will probably be making more of these because Belphie in general is very special to me<33......LMAO so watch out and filter if you're getting tired of it! Also I apologize if this whole thing is so gibberish and difficult to understand. I haven't been sleeping right and my brain is just scrambled ahahaha
Also, fuuuuck me. There's a new Luci card and it's only in the stupid premium pass?! Goddamn it! I didn't get Luci when he launched so what the fuck?!?! 😭😭🙃🤬🤬😭😭

wait i’d love to hear yr thoughts about tony hillerman bc i grew up in new mexico (and still live here lol) & always thought he was just like normal pulp mystery
--
Normal pulp mystery with ten thousand digressions to talk about clouds and rocks. Hahaha.
IDK, do we use "pulp" like this now? (Genuine question.) His mystery style was fairly standard for the cozy end of mystery publishing if we mean not hardboiled, not police procedural, etc. rather than the cozy mysteries that are actually cozy with their cat-themed bookstores and such.
When I was a kid, my mother was obsessed with one day moving to Santa Fe, so for holidays, instead of seeing family, we'd go there. She had another phase where she was convinced she'd move to Orcas Island one day where, again, we spent holidays up around Seattle repeatedly. In both cases, there were things that happened to be culturally big at the time and easy to find that were also connected to local indigenous stuff.
What makes Hillerman interesting is that, despite being a white guy, he focused a lot on the Navajo reservation. It probably doesn't seem like much of anything if you're from that part of the world, and there are certainly some inaccuracies in the books that he himself would talk about in subsequent forwards, but they were a highly accessible introduction for someone who'd otherwise have had no reason to know about anything like that. I don't think that's so true now with more media on the scene, but this was the 90s at the height of his popularity (and of the series actually being good).
The thing is, they are normal mysteries. That's what made them work: people who didn't have a reason to care about the setting or particular political struggles bought them because they bought mystery novels in general. And then there was some other stuff in there too, but mostly, they're just fun genre fiction. One thing they did that I can't recall any other 90s media with a thousandth the reach doing was depict Indigenous characters who don't know that much about other indigenous cultures. There are a couple of books where the Navajo leads have to deal with Hopi stuff, and it's very clear these are different people with different communities. That sounds so incredibly small and obvious, but these books were sold in airport bookstores all over the country to an audience that knew literally nothing.
As for the books themselves, I like all the contemplative noodling about the landscape and the sense of place. That's something I often like in a mystery novel, especially one set somewhere I don't live.
The characters are compelling aside from their romances, which are horrendous. (Leaphorn has a wife who is a nonentity until she dies between books of something stupid, and then she comes up endlessly as the love of his life. Chee is a moron who makes bad choices and forces us to hear about them at great length.)
There's a bunch of archaeology stuff in some of the books, and I was a kid obsessed with archaeology. Honestly, our understanding of, e.g., Ancestral Puebloans is way different than it was in the 70s when some of these books came out, but it was still interesting stuff.
The adaptations now... Robert Redford bought the rights an eon ago and has been trying to make fetch happen ever since. One of the attempts was a set of three tv movies for PBS's Mystery! They hired Chris Eyre and unfridged Leaphorn's wife. There's a lot more humor relative to Hillerman's often rather gloomy style. And I am weak to buddy cops, to age gap with obnoxiously over-enthusiastic younger parties, and to OT3s.

Small rambles about the ghost of us under the cut
Okay, so I finished reading The Ghost of Us and it's for sure a favorite, and Grey is a favorite as well. However, that doesn't mean I don't have some criticisms that veer more into headcanons & what if scenarios. Pretty much I'll just be discussing how I think the book could have done some things differently. (Again, doesn't mean I disliked the book.)
Firstly, I'd just like to say that the reveal & aftermath deserved more attention, so the book could have definitely benefitted from 3-4 extra chapters. (Definitely more than the 16 we got.) I think we could've stood to learn more about the dynamic between Curtis and Grey, and by extension more of Curtis and Alexandra's dynamic before they started dating. We get very little before the MC figures out it was Curtis that killed Grey. With Peter & Vivian we learn enough about Grey's respective relationship with each of them, not to only take them off the suspect list, but to learn more about Grey, so it was disappointing to not get the same attention in regards to Grey's friendship with Curtis. My guess is PB didn't want to "spoil" who the killer was before the reveal (although you could tell by the sprite who it was instantly lol) but that just made discovering & dealing with Curtis feel rushed.
On the one hand, I get TGOU was more romance than mystery, but they easily could have done more with the confrontation. I, for one, thought Grey was going to become tangible and take a hit for MC & their sister, or at least shock Curtis enough to give them an opening. They could have even done more with the possession angle rather than just have Grey hold Curtis in place and then not let us see anything afterwards.
Secondly, they definitely could have done more than a night gap from the arrest to preparing to say goodbye to Grey. Although perhaps this is more biased, I do think we should have been able to spend more time with Alexandra and to allow her to say goodbye to Grey as well.
All that aside, another thing I would have liked is if Grey moving on was the only ending, that there wasn't a choice to bind them to you (at the cost of half your MC's life) because I feel that it is a bit of a copout. Like even as someone that dreaded the angst, I think it made a lot more sense to have Grey move on. They're already dead and have accepted that, even if they did wish it wasn't like that. And throughout the whole book, MC is helping other ghosts move on, sometimes even having to explain how it would be selfish to keep a ghost around, instead of helping them move on. At the very least, it should have been Grey's choice (after MC consented to sharing her life force) whether they moved on or stayed. Heck I'm even thinking of a scenario like TGP between Chidi & Eleanor. But despite my many feelings on this, choosing to help Grey move on is very heartbreaking 😭 and in my opinion, if they were going to let us choose Grey's fate, there definitely should've been some sort of epilogue for whichever ending you chose. I mean, DS (a story with time travel) rips you away from your li but a book where your li is a ghost doesn't? Seems unfair (T.T)
Here is a headcanon, or alternate ending? That has been rotating in my brain:
What if Grey wasn't dead and was just in a coma? (Thinking of how Nell from "not dead yet" saw Duncan while he was in a coma, when usually she only saw dead people.) And a while after we solve Grey's murder and MC believed she helped them move on, they bump into each other near her shop. Grey doesn't have their memory from their time as a ghost so either Alexandra nudged them in the right direction or they were drawn to MC's shop.
Pretty much, I just liked the idea of them getting another chance to be together ❤️ (I also considered reincarnation, but it wouldn't make sense with the lore we are given in the ghost of us universe, which is why the coma idea stuck out more to me.)
#the ghost of us#tgou#ive seen a few shows/movies about ghosts and i was preparing for something angsty#oh even the goosebumps book i read way back when had an interesting concept#not to say tgou didnt. i very much enjoyed the approach to ghosts. i guess perhaps what disappoints me is that theres a choice

***: Major time Skip/scene change
*: small time skip/scene change
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You ran down from the hill and into Dale's trailer. You balled yourself up in the bed and cried. What Jim said struck your core. You just left your mother there to die and didn't even try to help her, or even go back to help Jason. God, you couldn't imagine how he must've felt if he saw your mother's corpse after the eaters devoured her poor body.
You wondered if Jason was even alive right now, or if he was by himself alone trying to look for you while you were here safe and sound, being fed fresh food and sleeping in a safe place. With people to watch over you. You were such a terrible person, you should just leave, you thought to yourself.
Through your crying, you missed the RV door opening, and you felt the bed dip. You look over and see Dale with a saddened look on his face.
“Are you okay kid?” he asked putting a hand on your shoulder.
You sat up sniffling and tried to wipe your tears away, “ye-yeah” but you just cried again. Dale just pulled you in for a hug. This is the first time you felt like you could outwardly grieve for your family.
Dale rubbed your shoulder comfortably, even rocking you back and forth in a soothing motion. “That's it hon, just cry it out” Your crying slowly died down, and soon you just sniffled and hiccuped “Do you want to talk about?” he asked you in a soft voice.
You wiped your eyes again before you started, “wh-when this all started my family ran to the woods.” you looked at Dale and rubbed your back “And, one ni-night we were just sitting, ea-eating dinner when the ea-” you cleared your throat “the eaters came out of nowhere. My mo-momma took my arm and we ran.” you started to cry again.
“It's okay take your time” Dale comforted you.
“And as we were running eaters came out and started attacking momma. She fell to the ground and I just stood there and watched as more swarmed her body.” you cried harder before you continued
“And I just left her and my brother” You buried your head in your knees “I just left them, for all I know, Jason could be alive and suffering and here I am having a full belly and sleeping safe and sound!” Dale looked down at you with pity, and pulled you in for another hug. By now his shirt was soaked with your tears.
“It's okay Y/n, it's not your fault.” he rocked you back and forth again “I'm sure they’re very glad you're safe and sound. he rested his chin on your head.
“And you shouldn't feel guilty about being safe,” he pulled you back and looked you in the eye “I’m sure your brother is fine, and I’m sure once we find him he will be overjoyed to see you again” he smiled reassuringly, which made you smile softly.
*
You left the RV when you calmed down and after dale gave your some water and walked toward Lori and Carol for their lessons. You were surprised to see Jim tied to a tree. You just looked away and walked to the table and sat with Lori.
“Hey hun, how are you?” she asked with a sympathetic look on her face.
You just shrugged your shoulders and next to her. She was teaching Carl some English stuff, showing him some stuff about a book. You could see both Dale and Shane walking down the hill towards Jim.
They started talking but you couldn't hear them clearly only getting bits and pieces from the conversation.
“How long are ya gonna keep me like this” you heard Jim ask but you couldn't hear Shane. But you could feel eyes on your back and grew uneasy.
“Sorry if I scared your kids and your little girl,” Jim projected his voice to who you assumed was Lori and Carol.
“You had sunstroke. Nobody's blaming you.” Lori said, she had a neutral tone in her voice, but you could tell she didn't want him talking to you guys. You personally tried not to look at him, you were embarrassed by what happened earlier.
“You're not scared now, are you?” Jim asked, you and Carl shook your heads while Sophia said no. Jim just looked at you all studying, you were getting antsy under his gaze wanting to be anywhere but here. But you noticed his eyes seemed to land on Carl.
“Your mama's right. Sun just cooked my head is all.” Jim tried to joke awkwardly, but you just cracked a small smile out of pity. But something was on Dale's mind that he couldn’t get rid of.
“Jim, do you know why you were digging?” He asked, Jim didn’t answer instead he just looked confused “Can you say?” Dale asked again.
Jim looked to the floor before he answered.
“Had a reason, don’t remember” Dale nodded his head egging him to continue, by this point you were solely focused on Jim and Dale “Something I dreamt last night” he looked over to Carl and you.
“your dad was in it, you guys as well,” he told you, your eyes widened a bit “You were worried about him and you were frozen in place” he paused “Like you saw something, can’t remember the rest.” He paused.
“You worried about your dad?” He asked Carl. He just looked down sadly before he responded.
“They’re not back yet” he looked back up, Lori's jaw clenched from fear or annoyance, you couldn’t tell but you knew she wanted to end it.
“We don’t need to talk about that” She rubbed Carl’s shoulder talking to Jim. But Jim also tried to do damage control, trying to comfort Carl.
“Your dad's a police officer, son. He helps people, probably just came across some folks needing help that’s all” he paused, you could tell that it wasn’t helping, cause the look on Lori's face was still the same.
“That man, he is tough as nails, I don’t know him well but” he paused, finding the words “I could see it in him, am I right” he looked up at Shane with a small grin.
“Oh yeah,” Shane shook his head in agreement. Jim looked at Lori and Carl, studying them almost.
“There ain’t nothing gonna stop him from getting back here to you and your mom, I promise you that” You blinked when he said that, it was heartwarming that a stranger cared that much. You notice Shane bending down and picking up a bucket.
“All right” your attention was drawn to Shane “who wants to help me clean some fish, huh?” You, Carl, and Sophia all got up and chased after Shane.
Out of earshot, Lori walked up to Jim, she squatted down in front of him to tell him something before Jim looked her in the eyes with deadly seriousness.
“you keep your kids close, don’t ever let them out of your sight” he looked away as Lori walked off shaken by his words, the first thing she went to do was find you and Carl.
*
You were helping Morales build a new fire pit. He was explaining to you how now you can have a bigger fire but it won’t be seen in the distance. You saw him building them by himself and asked what he was doing, he explained and so out of boredom, you started helping him build them. Carl and Sophia were busy. Sophia was with her family while Carl was with shane.
But it wasn't long before you saw Carl and Shane walking up the trail. You even saw Sophia and Carol, though they seemed to be in small sprites. You ran over to Sophia and Carol concere d for sophia.
“You okay Sophia?” you asked her, she looked at you and smiled.
“Im fine are you excited for later” You nodded your head as you both walked to where Shane was.
When you both sat down you could see Shane had a bucket of some of the fish. You watched as he handed Carl and Sophia fish before he gave you one.
They were doing something called a ‘Fish Fry’ it sounded fun. It reminded you of your family cookouts. One year you all went out of state to Oklahoma to visit your dad's family and you had the biggest cookout you’ve ever seen.
“Alright,” Shane said, catching your guy's attention “Who knows how to clean a fish?” He asked, you slowly raised your hand. You didn’t fish much but you knew the very basics of cleaning and gutting fish.
~~“Alright Y/n would you like to come demonstrate with me?” He asked, you nodded your head and got up to sit next to him. Shane then went on to show Carl and Sophia how to clean the fish, a few scales would hit your face and Shane would chuckle.
But when you got to the actual gutting Sophia and Carl let how ewes and yucks. You had a grossed-out face but it wasn’t anything too bad for you. Shane gilled the fish and had you slice the belly open and clean out the stomach.~~
“Well look at you, see how she does that” Shane went on to explain how you would cook it, while you went to start another one.
*
hours had passed and the much-awaited fish fry was here. Everyone was sitting around the fire eating the fish Andrea and Amy caught. People were finally relaxing after what happened earlier and having beers. Jim had been untied from the tree and seemed to be back to normal.
You sat next to Lori as you ate. She seemed to want you and Carl by her all the time, unless you were with Dale you had to be with Lori.
You ate your fish when Morales spoke up after starting at Dale for some reason.
“I’ve gotta ask ya, man, it's been driving me crazy” he finally said, Dale was confused and asked what was wrong “That watch” he pointed to Dale's wrist. You thought it was an odd thing to wonder about.
“What’s wrong with my watch?” Dale asked confused as he inspected the watch.
“I see you every day, the same time, winding that thing like a village priest saying mass” he joked as the other chuckled.
“I’ve wondered this myself” Jacqui spoke up next to you. Dale tried to defend himself but Jacqui just rebutted him.
“Unless I’ve misread the signs the world seems to have come to an end” she gestured around her “At least hit a speed bump for a good long while” she smiled at him.
“But there’s you every day winding that stupid watch” Morales joked again, you didn’t understand why it was a big deal, time was important, and you needed it to know.
“Time, it's important to keep track, isn’t it? The days at least” he looked around, you nodded your head in agreement, and Dale looked at Andrea “Don’t you think, Andrea? Back me up here” he chuckled as Andrea looked away, saying ‘don’t get me involved’ with her face.
“I like what” he tried to recall, “A father said to his son when he gave him a watch, that had been handed down through generations. He said,
‘I give you the mausoleum of all hopes and desires, which will fit your individual needs no better than it did mine or my fathers before me; I give it to you not that you may remember time, but that you may forget it for a moment. Now and then, and not spend all of your breath trying to conquer it”
Everyone was quiet as Dale finished his monologue, you thought it was impressive that he remembered that after drinking. After the moment of silence, Amy broke it by teasing Dale. Everyone started laughing at the remark.
“I liked it, it was nice.” You said with a smile as you took a bite of fish.
“Thank you, it’s uhh” he tried to remember the name “It’s uhh right, it’s Faulkner” he remembered “William Faulkner, maybe my bad paraphrasing.” It got quite again as everyone went back to enjoying their meals. You noticed Amy get up when Andrea asked her where she was going.
“I have to pee” Amy's cheeks were a little red as she told Andrea with an annoyed face “Jeez you trying to be discreet around here” Everyone laughed as she walked off towards Dale’s RV.
A few moments later you heard the RV door square open and you turned your head to see Amy.
“We’re outta toilet paper?” She shouted towards the fire pit. You dropped your plate when you saw the eater take a bite out of Amy's arm. She screamed alerting the rest of the group, as you looked you could see more of them appearing out of nowhere.
Everyone started running away, including you. You could feel Lori try and grab your arm but you were to fast for her to grab you. Shane was shouting before you heard him shooting off his shot gun.
Everyone was panicking not knowing what to do. You couldn’t do anything since your bow was in Dales RV and eaters were surrounding it right now. So you found a thick branch and started to thought swing it around if they came to close.
Your next course of action was to find somewhere to hide, the tent was too flimsy and the cars were locked, so the best thing you could do was to try and get rotters away from the RV.
You were about to head to Lori and Shane when you saw her.
She was limping towards you, her long brown hair all matted with blood and twigs. Chunks of skin and meat were missing to the point you could see her bones.
Her belly was hanging loose and swinging back and forth as she stumbled towards you. You blocked everything out at that moment. You could feel tears welled in your eyes form seeing her.
“Mama?” BOOM
A bullet shot through her head. Her body fell to the ground limply and you felt someone grab you by the arm. You tried to fight it, trying to go back to your mom. The person dragging you away roughly pulled on your arm.
“Hey! Snap out of it!” Daryl yelled in your face, you looked at him as tears fell down your cheek. you tried to blink them away as you nodded your head.
not too far away you could hear Rick yell for Lori and Carl. obviously, they managed to get the guns with how much gun fire you were hearing.
You could heard Carl yell for Rick. You could hear your name being called out and felt Lori grab you, she hugged you as Rick pulled both of you into a hug.
Lori pulled away and went to look for injuries on both you and Carl, before pulling you into a embrace again. The cries of Andrea caught everyone’s attention, you could feel Lori drop to the ground on her knees, she clutched onto your legs as she looked on in horror.
“I remember my dream now, why I dug the holes” Jim said in a grim tone.
You turned your head to look behind you and you saw your mother's limp body lying on the dirt and the tears just fell from your eyes silently.
~~~The Day After~~~
You watched as the sun rose over the trees. It was dead silent, not something you want when in the woods.
Everyone went “to bed” but you don’t think a single person fell asleep. You yourself went into the RV, got your stuff, climbed the ladder, and sat on the RV.
Everyone was on guard, with people taking watch on all parameters all hours of the night. Some would ask if you wanted sleep but you would just shake your head as you watched the camp, specifically the area she was in.
*
in the distance, Rick could be seen talking to Shane and Lori.
“she still won't move?” he asked about Andrea, they all just looked down shanking their heads
“she won’t even talk to us” Lori started “She's been there all night, what do we do?”
“Can't just leave Amy like that, we need to deal with it,” Shane said “Same with the others” he finished. Rick nodded and walked off to talk with Andrea, but he shortly returented after Andrea pointed a gun in his face.
After Rick came back he looked at you with concerned eyes, “Do we know what's up with her yet?” Rick asked as he looked at you.
“Yeah, she hasn't left that spot since shes sat down” Lori pointed out. Dale sighed sadly before he spoke up.
“That may be her mother” Lori whipped her head around “She told me yesterday that her mother was attacked and bitten, and how she got separated with her brother” Dale informed them.
“and why didn't she say anything?” Shane asked pointedly. Dale just shrugged his shoulders, as he looked at you.
You sat next to your momma's body, and you looked into her now grey eyes. A lot of her face was disfigured because of the gunshot but she still looked like your momma. you wanted to hug her, hold her hand, brush her hair out but you don't think they’d let you touch her.
“Grief is a strange thing,” Dale said, Lori got up and walked over to you.
when you heard footsteps coming and saw Lori you weren't surprise. she sat down with you and pulled you into a side hug.
“she looks beautiful,” she said as she rested her head on yours “How are you feeling” she asked softly. you didn't say anything as you moved closer to her. you were like that for a while before she got up to check on Andrea. She said she'd be right back.
*
in the background, people were already cleaning up camp. moving them away to be buried or burned from what you could guess. Lori hadnt been back yet, you guessed she was checking on Carl.
Glenn, T-dog, and Morales would help move the bodys. And sometimes you would look up and see Glenn give you a sad face of understanding of some kind. Others would just give a odd face, to them she was just a random ‘walker’.
Behind you, you could hear an argument about what to do with Amy. you could hear Daryl say that they should just shoot Amy from where they were but everyone said no leading him to scoff and walk off. You watched him walk past you with the pix axe in hand, he also scoffed at you but didnt say anything.
You watched as Daryl walked away and helped Morales move a body you vaguely reconized towards a burning pile of dead rotters. You could hear Glenn ask them what they were doing in a tone of dissertation.
“WE DONT BURN THEM!” he yelled “We bury them, understand?” he finished. Daryl sneered at Glenn before he and Morales picked up the body and began to move it.
“You reap what you sow” Daryl said under his voice. This pissed off morales, as he told daryl to shut up. Which just made Daryl more pissed off “Y'all left my brother for dead. You had this coming.” he looked around the camp, his eyes seemed to land on you.
When you heard foot steps again, steps you thought it was Lori, but the fact that they were heavy should have tipped you off.
You saw Daryls gross boots at the head of your Momma, as he hooked his arms under hers it sent you into a panick since no one knew her, meaning shed be burned. With out thinking you grabbed onto her pulling her back.
“STOP, DON’T TOUCH HER!” you screamed, catching everyones attention. You could tell Daryl was about to argue back but rick stopped him.
“DARYL, leave her be” Rick looked at him with a pointed gaze. Daryl just scoffed again and dropped your Momma on the ground. He walked past you “Whiney bitch” he mutted under his breath.
You just glared at him as he walked away, Your eyes were wide with hatred and your lips were twisted into a sneer . ‘Im gonna punch him’ you thought, you thought of many things you could do to Daryl when they were interrupted by Jacquis screams.
“A WALKER GOT HIM, A WALKER BIT JIM” she yelled as Jim tried to defend himself. You stood up at the news and walk forward to see what was going on. By the time you got closer everybody was surrounding him. Daryl was demanding him to show the bite.
Feeling scared Jim grabbed a shovel to defend himself but that didnt work as T-dog grabbed him from behind allowing Daryl to lift his shirt revealing the bite on his stomach. Your eyes widend as stepped back away from him
In Jim's delirium, he kept going on and on about how he was “okay”.
*
Everyone was now in a circle trying to find out how to help Jim. Some wanted to actually help while others had more barbaric solutions.
“I say we put a pickaxe in his head and the dead girl's and be done with it,” Daryl said nonchalantly like he didn't just suggest killing a man.
“Is that what you'd want if it were you?” Shane said to him, you looked at Daryl to see how he responds.
“Yeah, and I'd thank you while you did it,” Daryl said like it was the most obvious thing in the world. You rolled your eyes. But looked at Dale when he spoke up.
“I hate to say it, I never thought I would” he paused trying to find the words “but maybe Daryl's right” Your eyes widened while Daryl had a smug look on his face.
“Jim's not a monster, Dale, or some rabid dog.” Rick shot back with some annoyance in his tone, Dale tried to defend himself but Rick just interjected “He's sick. A sick man. We start down that road, where do we draw the line” Rick looked around, and again Daryl opened his mouth with an unwanted opinion.
“The line's pretty clear. Zero tolerance for walkers or them to be” You glared at him but you knew it was kinda true, and if your brother was here he’d probably be agreeing with him. But Rick wasn't satisfied with that answer.
“What if we can get him help? I heard the C.D.C. was working on a cure.” He said as he looked around, seeing if people agreed, you nodded your head in agreement. It seemed like a good plan, shelter, medicine, hell maybe food. But Shane countered that as well.
“I heard that too. Heard a lot of things before the world went to hell” Shane said.
“What if the C.D.C. is still up and running?” Rick argued back at Shane. Rick seemed almost desprete about getting to the c.d.c when arguing with shane.
“Man, that is a stretch right there.” Shane joked.
“Why? If there's any government left, any structure at all, they'd protect the C.D.C. at all costs, wouldn't they? I think it's our best shot. Shelter, protection” listed off the pros og going to the c.d.c.
“Okay, Rick, you want those things, all right? I do too, okay? Now if they exist, they're at the army base. Fort Benning.” Shane argued back, you also thought it was an okay idea. It probably had the things the c.d.c had plus weapons.
“What if it’s overrun? We’d be sittin’ ducks” You piped up, feeling the need to say something. Lori seemed to want to say something to as well.
“And it’s 100 miles in the opposite direction” She said what was on her mind.
“That is right. But it's away from the hot zone. Now listen to me. If that place is operational, it'll be heavily armed. We'd be safe there.” Shane seemed to ignore your point somewhat, you felt like you weren't even there.
“The military were on the front lines of this thing. They got overrun. We've all seen that. The C.D.C. is our best choice and Jim's only chance.” Rick actually acknowledged what you had to say instead of brushing it off.
You looked over at Daryl when you saw him turn around and look at Jim. He turned back with a determined look on his face, and with a rough voice he said.
“You go looking for aspirin, do what you need to do.” he started to walk away towards Jim, making your eyes go wide as you saw him holding up the Pix axe “Someone needs to have some balls to take care of this damn problem!” He shouted, and everyone began to run after him to prevent him from harming Jim, Lori grabbed you to stay by her.
He almost swung it up before Rick ran towards him holding up his gun to Daryl's head. “We don't kill the living,” Rick said in a cool and calm tone. Shan had his shotgun and stood in front of Jim. Daryl just looked him up and down, sizing him up before he spoke.
“That's funny coming from a man who just put a gun to my head.” Daryl retorted back at Rick before Shane said his mind.
“We may disagree on some things, but not on this. You put it down. Go on.” Shane ordered him, Daryl scoffed planting the pix axe in the ground, and stormed off somewhere. You saw Rick talking to Jim helping him up. Rick guided him to the RV where you assumed he laid him down to rest.
While Dale walked up to you and guided you to Andrea. You both walked up to her, she was sadly gazing at her sister, she even brushed a few flyaway hairs behind her ear.
“We came to pay our respects.” she didn't say anything as you both say down next to her. “Did I ever mention how I lost my wife?” He looked at Amy, you were slightly curious, you didnt even know he had one. Amy finally spoke up at him with a most sad voice.
“Cancer, wasn't it?” her voice almost cracked, Dale nodded as he agreed, he looked at you as you looked at Amy’s body. Her once pink star shirt was covered in blood, same with her blonde hair. Her arm and neck had chunks ripped out of her.
“I-I dragged her to every doctor, every test. And after all the surgeries and the chemos, she was ready. She accepted it, you know?” he paused, his voice started to get that sad crack “But I never could. And I spent the last few years so angry. I felt so cheated.” He stopped to regain himself “Since she passed, you girls were the first people, That I cared anything for.” He said that looking at you two. You smiled at his words.
With a melancholy smile, Andrea reached into her bag and pulled out a gift wrapped in red tissue paper, she carefully unwrapped it. Dales eyes widened at the sudden realization.
“This is her birthday?” She nodded.
“Her birthday was always like um, like a week-long affair. But I somehow always missed it. I was away at college or too busy for kid's parties.” Andrea smiled to herself.
“She'd call all excited. I always said that I'd make it home and I really always meant to, but I never made it past that phone call” She looked at Dale with guilt in her eyes.
“I know things are hard enough for you without adding guilt into the mix, huh?” Dale said to her, he also looked at you for a split second, before looking back at her. She fully unwrapped the red gift paper and pulled out a mermaid necklace, it was pretty and you were sure Amy would've loved it.
Andrea bent down and put the necklace around her neck. Dale got up and walked away, but you stayed behind with her.
“Im sorry about her” Andrea looked at you with a soft smile. “She was very kind to me” Andrea had the biggest smile on her face.
“She always was, she’d give you anything you'd want if it’d make you happy” She played with her hair and she held Amy's hands.
“I-I, I lost someone to.” you said “My momma, she's actually in camp.” you opened up, and she looked at you with a sad look. “I- I want to bury her, but her hair is a mess. She hated her hair being messy” You softly smiled.
“I think there's a comb in the RV, i think your Momma would want to do that before you buried her,” she said as she continued to stare at Amy. you nodded and got up to go into the RV
*
You Laided out a white sheet on the ground next to your momma and began to try and move her without much luck. Daryl made it look so easy earlier. Without you noticing, rick walked up to you.
“Need a hand, Y/n?” He asked, you looked at him and nodded your head. You walked up and grabbed her arms and he grabbed her legs and you both moved her on the sheet.
“Ca-can I bury her with the rest?” you asked “Shes my mom, I want to her be at rest” Rick nodded at.
“You can bury her with the others, its very kind of you to do that for her” he gave you a small smile before he walked away.
You closed your momma's eyes and mouth and laid a blanket over her and started picking out all the leaves and other things that made it in her hair. You grabbed the comb beside you and began to comb out her hair gently.
You had a lot of memories of doing your momma's and dad's hair, they both had long hair that reached their mid-backs. You’d braid your dad's hair and put your momma in crazy elaborate hairstyles.
You put little braids in her hair before you decided to just grab all her hair and put it in a big braid. You got up and began to position her arms and legs, laying her arms on her chest before you wrapped her body up. Tying it and with a sharpie you found in Dale's RV you wrote on a piece of paper.
“Dawna Myers, 1973-2010, Loving Wife and Mother”
You placed the note in between the rope and cloth. You looked at her, thinking something was missing, and then you thought of it, flowers! she loved blue flowers.
You looked around trying to see if someone would go with you, when you noticed everyone was alerted, you looked to see what they were looking at. Your eyes landed on the sisters, Amy finally came back. You stopped to stare at her. Andrea seemed to be talking to her, but Amy kept softly clawing at Andrea, she even had a grip on her hair.
BANG
Amy’s body went limp again as she hit the floor, Andrea had a bittersweet face as she looked at her sister again. Everyone looked at her with sad faces.
*
Lori and Carol agreed to join you along with Sophia. You and Sophia picked flowers, her goal was to find yellow flowers for her dad. You brought your Bow and quiver just in case and Lori had a small gun. You weren't sure she knew how to use it though.
Sophia didn't really have a stong look on her face while she looked. It made you curious.
“Are you sad about your dad?” you asked her with a small voice so her mom didn't hear you. She looked up with wide eyes, and looked at her mother before turning to you.
“Im not sure, im sad he’s dead I guess” she shrugged her shoulders “but” she paused before shaking her head and changing the topic “so that walker you sit by is your mom?” She asked.
“Yea, she died a few weeks before Daryl and Merle found me” you picked a Chicory and added it to your small bouquet of different flowers, not all of them were blue, some were yellow, purple, white, and orange. The same went with Sophia.
“Girls, I think it's best to head back now!” Lori shouted back, you both walked up to them with your bouquets in hand.
When you got back to camp you and Lori walked over to your momma and watched as Glenn and T-Dog hoisted her up and brought her to the bed of Daryl's blue pickup. You watched as it drove off up the hill and soon everyone followed to watch the bodies be buried.
*
Daryl drove his pickup and parked it walking towards Shane and Rick. this entire thing bugged the living hell out of him and he had to voice it or he’d go crazy.
“I still think it's a mistake not burning these bodies. It's what we said we'd do, right? Burn 'em all, wasn't that the idea?” he looked around as everyone began to appear. Shane somewhat agreed with what he said but still went along with it.
“So what, the Chinaman and kid get all emotional, says it's not the thing to do, we just follow ‘em along?” He argued, “These people need to know who the hell's in charge here, what the rules are.” He pointed out there was no real leader of the group, no real structure.
“There are no rules.” Rick countered but Lori was close enough to argue with Rick on that stance.
“Well, that's a problem. We haven't had one minute to hold onto anything of our old selves.” She looked around at the three men “We need time to mourn and we need to bury our dead. It's what people do.” Lori squeezed your shoulder in support.
Your mother was one of the first to be buried. Glenn and T-Dog grabbed her body gently and sat her down in a hole, closest to a tree. When she was down you carefully climbed down into the hole with her, you laid the flowers on her chest and kissed her covered forehead.
“Goodbye momma” You whispered before Glenn helped you out the hole.
Then it was everyone else's turn. There were a few who cried, most reminded stoic. Then it was Amy's turn. Andrea wanted to place Amy down, so she dragged her body to the closest hole, she had trouble trying to get her in, Dale tried to help but Andrea just refused and did it herself.
*
You all began to walk down the hill with you walking next to Lori and Carl, and Rick behind you all.
“Burying other people is bad enough, but the thought of one of us” he whispered harshly in Lori's ear but you could hear what he was saying. Lori just shushed him, but Carl turned around.
“Are we safe now, Dad? Now that we're together?” Carl asked while Rick took a knee to talk to Carl. he looked at you two before he spoke.
“I won't leave again. I promise you that. Not for anything. Now give me a chance to discuss some things with your mom, okay?” He looked at you “Y/n could you take Carl to the tent please?” you nodded your head and you and Carl walked off while Lori and Rick had quite a heated discussion.
You and Carl were walking quietly before he spoke up “Was that your mom?” he asked, you looked at him and nodded your head as you shoved your hands in your pocket. “Was it just you and her?” he asked again.
You shook your head “No, it was us and my brother.” you rolled your eyes a bit “And her husband but he’s an idiot” he giggled a little bit.
“Where’s your brother now?” he asked, you shrugged your shoulders in response.
“I don't know, he’s probably alive, he knows the woods pretty well” you explained “he taught me some stuff, how to hunt, how to sleep in the woods, and other stuff.” but there was something on carls mind that he could’nt get rid of.
“You said your mom's “husband, is that your dad?” he asked, your steps slowed down a bit.
“No, my dad has been dead, for a few years now.” you had a sullen look on your face “I miss him, a lot actually, he died in a crash a few years back.” you looked at Carl and he just said “oh”.
You two walked to the tents in silence not saying anything else. You left when carl went into his tent when rick arrived and you just walked back to the main area and sat down on the makeshift couch. Next to Sophia and Carol. They both smiled at you but said nothing, you didn't mind it though.
To busy yourself you started drawing in the dirt again. You drew Lori then Carl, Sophia was next, then her mom. Your favorite was Dale and his goofy hat, you'd have to show him later. You heard the RV doors open and saw Lori sitting there, you thought about going to talk to her but her eyes were closed so decided against it, you guess Shane didn't think about that.
From what you could see they were having a heated discussion that Rick walked in on. The three of them talked, you saw Dale walk up then the three men walked away to the woods. You saw Lori walk over to you.
“Hey hun, where's Carl?” she asked.
“He’s in your guy's tent, think he was tired,” you told her, she nodded and walked away. She came back not too long with Carl, and a stick you think.
“Hey Y/n, you know how to widdle?” you nodded your head “Can you show me” she smiled as she pulled out a pocket knife. You shrugged your shoulders and moved closer to her.
“So ya hold it like this” you took the stick and knife from her “and then like this, kinda at an angle. And push up” You showed her and did it a few times. You handed it to her.
“Like this?” she asks, you nod your head and watch as she carves away. Over time more people came up to the campfire, and Andrea even fell asleep on the chair.
It wasn't long before you noticed Rick, Shane, and Dale walk over to the Campfire. You smiled at Dale but he had a weird look on his face as he stared at Shane. Said man started to speak up drawing your attention to him.
“I've been, uh, I've been thinking about Rick's plan. Now look, there are no, There are no guarantees either way. I'll be the first one to admit that.” He paused as he looked around, gathering his words “ I've known this man a long time. I trust his instincts. I say the most important thing here is we need to stay together. So those of you that agree, we leave first thing in the morning.”
You guessed Shane came to his senses and agreed to go to the C.D.C. Rick looked around and nodded. Everyone nodded and Rick walked off towards the edge of the quarry.
Lori and Carol made dinner. After everyone ate they all walked away to pack their stuff. You didn't have much besides your Bow stuff and your bag, which was still on top of the RV.
*
After you helped Rick and Lori pack up you decided to sleep on top of the RV, Lori and Rick did offer for you to sleep in the tent but you turned it down. Lori did give you a blanket and a pillow though.
You climbed the RV sat up in your sleeping area and laid down. You thought the only people who'd go up there would be Shane and Dale but to your surprise, you heard Daryl grunt as he sat down.
“What are ya doin’ up here?” he asked gruffly, “should you be in bed or somethin’” You wanted to roll your eyes at him but you were too tired.
“Im sleepin’ up here, got the okay from Dale,” you told him while looking at the sky.
“Why ain't cha sleepin’ in a tent with Lori or some shit? Ain't she always motherin’ you or somethin’” You frowned at that.
“Didn't want to intrude on them, and I don't wanna sleep in tha RV cause of Jim” You heard Daryl huff and he didn't say anything for a while.
“Why were ya crowding tha’ walker?” he asked while he lit a cigarette. You looked at what was now a graveyard.
“She was my momma, wanted to bury her,” you said quietly “Jason would kill me if I didn't” You laughed a bit. You couldn't see it but Daryl scrunched his face at the new name.
“Who the hell's Jason?” he asked roughly.
“He's my older brother, I don't know where he is though” Daryl's eyes softened just a bit and that bit of information.
“He lost too?” he asked, thinking of Merle.
“Yeah, but he knows what he’s doin’ so im not worried” You paused “still, kinda miss him though” He had a hard shell but sometimes he’d be nice. Like how he still made your favorite food on Sundays, watched movies with you, and took you hunting when he didn't have to.
“Was he an ass sometimes?” Daryl asked bluntly. You didn't say anything but you nodded. “Yea mine too, but thats what older brothers are for I guess” It was quiet again as you started to feel tired.
The no sleep from last night was getting to you and before you knew it you fell asleep.

Lol, I just saw that you replied to my ask about you 'infecting my dreams'. I wanted you to know what the dream was about (from what I can remember haha). Some parts don't make sense because, y'know, dream logic. It was pretty late into the night and Marcy and P.B. were on a walk together. Marcy was taking Bubblegum to see Simon and Betty (I think my brain was going off of some altered wizardbetty au). Apparently, Marcy gave Simon or Betty any heads up about their arrival - Simon probably didn't care anyways to be honest - because Betty was surprised to see them at the door. She lets them in and goes back to the kitchen to do something. Simon is like massively pregnant and sitting in an arm chair that is reclined back(ish). I remember this next part vividly, by the way. Marcy goes behind the chair and says something to Simon about his bump and then tries to touch it, Simon pulls away her hand and apologizes about how he didn't want touching at the moment. Marcy says sorry and sits back down onto the couch besides the arm chair with Bubblegum. I can't remember anything else except a little bit of Betty burning her hand slightly in the background while cooking or something. :D
i have done it, i think this means i win. simon is so valid for setting a boundary, i can totally see him getting overstimulated by being pregnant every once in a while/not wanting to be touched (especially with ophelia, she moved so much he was afraid to even change sitting spots for fear he'd start her back up again) and don't even get him started on golbspawn.
this made me realize wizardbetty brand pbs aren't really at odds with simon over his kids which is cute! although I can still see morri and pb having disagreements due to their personalities.
also betty burning herself is so real since my sims betty is really attuned to lighting things/herself on fire LMAO
