On the other hand there's one song where I can say exactly what they did wrong and what I'd have them do differently

It's very simply doing the metal growl when it's like... no no no, this is an epic ballad you have here, and your voice is perfect for it. No metal growl in this song and skip the uh... bridge or whatever it's called where you kind of do a guitar solo

You did that and the song is perfect. I respect you doing it the way you wanted, and you made a fantastic song, but... the metal growling voice just doesn't fit the texture of this song

#if I'm blunt while the metal growl is very impressive to be able to pull off #I actually think it's never the right call and almost always wish they'd just sing that line because their voice pulls it off better #there's more than one metal band where I'm like I like this album except the ones you metal growled which don't work for me #like it's a choice and I respect it and I respect being able to do it at all... but to me it's almost always the wrong call #but often it'll kind of be for a whole song #where as this one it's mostly this very melodic thing that... ah... if I could just get them to record a slightly different version #that would be just.. perfection; they'd have done the song exactly right #I mean look at their Rasputin cover; zero growling and it comes out perfect #it's probably more a matter of taste; but that's my stance on it; though I won't say the people who like it are less correct than I am
