Alright. Finally have the time and peace of mind to talk about

CDDH Chapter 15

I drafted a write-up on it and it ended up being 5 pages long.

Okay, before I start...this review won’t be in chronological order. I tried, but failed. I’m sorry.

So it’s going to be a little convoluted, but I hope I managed to get the ideas and other things I had in mind about this chapter across. I’ll start with the heavy thoughts, then simply talk about the scenes, and finally I’ll jump to the debunking.

This second last chapter is more Hol Horse-centric, which is, I believe, the actual climax of the story. I know a lot of fans saw CDDH as a spin-off for Part 4 Josuke (and even Kakyoin), but from the very beginning, it’s actually Hol Horse’s. Josuke is really just a secondary protagonist. So it’s fitting to end the series with a conclusion to part of Hol Horse’s story.

I believe the scene with Ryoko threatening Hol Horse with a gun is the peak of their own development in this story. Ryoko having to prove to herself that she was no longer the one to blame for her cousin’s death, and Hol having to prove to himself that he was no longer the one that blames everyone else for every single mishap happening.

And I have a feeling Hol knew she was struggling with that; most likely from how shaky her hands were when she held the gun (obviously, surely, Hol would know how one would handle guns, right?). She was, in a way, doing what he had done so many times before – blaming someone else for something he didn’t do to make himself feel better. And when he couldn’t find anything to blame on, he’d run away.

Which is interesting if we tie this to his “Mr No.2” principle. Hol’s reason to be second most likely and partially stemmed by his tendency to blame others. When things did not go his way, he could at least blame his partner for it. When J. Geil was killed by Kakyoin and Polnareff, Hol basically had no one to blame for the loss, so he ran away. When he teamed up with Boingo, he blamed the kid when Thoth’s prediction wasn’t going as planned, even if the mistake was pretty much coincidental and was a product of misinterpretation.

(it also kinda ties with the Emperor tarot card, and I’ll try to explain it below)

In CDDH, Hol did want to blame Dio for everyone’s death. Kakyoin’s death more so, even if it really wasn’t his fault. But Hol was Dio’s agent, making Dio indirectly his partner. And now that Dio was dead, naturally Hol should run away.

But because CDDH is literally Hol Horse’s redemption story, this negative part of his personality has to be eradicated.

And so we were blessed with this puppy eyes look that Hol Horse gave Ryoko after he realise running away was no longer an option he should have and the only right, good and correct way to everything was being truthful to himself and others. The look that Ryoko instantly equated to Kakyoin’s during her encounter with his soul, because like Hol, Kakyoin too was blaming others for the misfortunes he experienced throughout his life, and ran away from the life he knew in Japan for the adventure to Egypt to make himself feel better.  

It works, eventually. I mean...no one should say ever say no to that calm and accepting cowboy face.

I also find it kinda interesting that, all the talk of Hol Horse “respecting women” is basically just him being a good person. A genuinely good person, who doesn’t want any rewards of any kind whatsoever for saving someone’s life. I’m just guessing his tendency to save women more mainly lies in his Emperor trait, but there could be a possible backstory to it. I may be reading too much in it (plus, I forgot what the Japanese text were for this excerpt to properly look into it) but I have a feeling the “healing after being hurt” wasn’t in a physical context for Hol.

It could be his broken pride, his low self-esteem and cowardice, the breaking of the set of rules he had given himself...but there’s also the possibility that it traced back to a past that was yet to be fully elaborated. Perhaps we’ll see it in the novel? Who knows.

Anyway, I digressed.

Hol being a good person goes back to the interpretation of the Emperor card that is already “fated” to be how he was, is and will be as a person.

(again, disclaimer: I am not an expert in the Major Arcana. I just happen to read a lot on it. But if I am wrong in any way, feel free to correct me)

So, Emperor, first and foremost is a symbol of structure, rules, systems, knowledge and paternal figure. The absolute male ego, the ruler of the world (which is interesting, because Hol was about to rule over Dio, who held The World), the ultimate power and authority. This is on top of the traits Hol mentioned in this page, which signifies control.

All in all, good traits to have for a good cowboy.

In a person, Emperor represents a strategic thinker that often makes sure the plans they planned worked. Which brings me back to the part about Hol blaming others and running away, when his plans to kill the Crusaders AND Dio did not work. Emperor desire to create happiness and peace, foster honour and discipline, not only for himself but for everyone around him.

Including the women who were still alive among the dead ones used as Dio’s food, whom Hol had nothing to do with their life choices that had them ended up in a vampire’s mansion. True, Hol could have just leave them there. It wasn’t his business.

But he made it his business. Why? Because he’s the Emperor. He has to bring forth happiness to the people around him, he has to honour them and keep their honour, and he most certainly has to live up to his own set of rules – “to be the nicest guy in the world when it comes to the ladies”.

After all, an emperor’s job is to rule, as much as he is to serve his subjects. He follows the calling of the crown he wears above all else.

Emperor being about control is also considered the ultimate improvement that Hol needed. Out of the many Emperor traits, control is something Hol still wavered in, most notably the control on the direction of his life. But in this chapter, Hol choosing to not blame himself let alone anyone else for what happened to Kakyoin, and not running away from the question either, was literally him taking control of the direction of his life. Just like how he takes control of the trajectory of his bullets.

And with control will come more positive traits for Hol, including acting rationally for the greater good, having strong determination to reach a goal, and being a strong leader.

These are all upright significance of the Emperor card. Hol Horse used to be the reversed – inability to handle difficult situations, the rules he created and the plans he planned no longer worked, and  ultimately forgetting his call to be the good person he was supposed to be out of fear of losing – before he took the stand to betray Dio. I guess it’s correct to say that the reversed traits that Hol used to have became fully upright then, and it’s proven with the flashback in this chapter.

So, Hol admitted that he was Dio’s servant who was sent to kill the Crusaders including Ryoko’s cousin (and also admitting that he was no match against them – something he had been very truthful about since his first fight), and I believe it is really the correct thing to do on Hol’s part.

I do feel the turning point of Ryoko dropping the gun and helping Hol up proved the idea that...it’s okay to be a coward, for whatever reason one can think of. I feel like that’s part of Hol’s character as well. Too many times I’ve seen fans making fun of Hol for being a coward (mostly light-hearted, of course), but comedy aside, I do think it’s a good trait to have in difficult situations. It makes you survive longer, and be more understanding towards the people around you. It sums up Hol a lot, and it’s also a good development trait for both Kakyoins.

I particularly liked that Hol kept it simple and told her that the Crusaders saved the world. For someone who wasn’t there and not understanding how tremendous the task to defeat Dio was, simply saying the Crusaders – or Noriaki Kakyoin, for her sake – had saved everyone on Earth, is more than enough.

And Thoth did that kind of prediction again. So the “shooting Hol in the head” was just the old bullet wound from the last time he had his face shot at in SDC opening up. I’m just guessing that the stress of hanging by the ledge on one hand and having a gun he cannot control being shoved to his face had caused that.

But after 10 years? I don’t think Hol led a stress-free life after the events in SDC. Continuous stress can make a wound not heal properly after all. But damn, 10 YEARS...

;-; if only I can hug Hol tightly, I would. Cowboy deserves all the hugs in the world.

Also, I love this panel. Hol acting like a father, in addition to the usual Hol respecting women trope. After getting himself near to the brink of death, the way he just casually and nonchalantly took off his long jacket to give to a half-naked young woman in front of him...it seemed so natural. I truly believe Hol would protect women any chance he gets.

We will always love Hol Horse for this. Yes, we do.

Also, the whole CDDH gang ♥ Truly a great way to end the chapter. And this particular panel sure looked like a groundwork to more adventures for them (minus Josuke, maybe, he has Part 4 to be in). But even if there would be no more stories for the gang, it’s still good way to finalise the story.

Overall, strongest chapter in my opinion.

Talking about more adventures, apparently after the CDDH manga ends, the novel version of CDDH will be out; similar to Purple Haze Feedback and Over Heaven. I believe it’s the same story as CDDH manga, but with more details? I hope they explain a lot more on certain unexplained events (Karaiya’s grandfather, Boingo’s own demons to conquer, to name a few...) and maybe expand more on SDC from the villains’ POV, since Hol Horse’s past as Dio’s agent was heavily referenced in CDDH.

Whatever it is, I hope it gives a good read. I’m certainly buying the novel. It’s not always you get to see a minor antagonist in canon be the main protagonist in a spin-off after all...

I’m also just...liking the fact that Hol Horse no longer worked as mercenary-cum-assassin, but a private eye in CDDH.

Now...on the debunking part.

I don’t know who first made the assumption on this, but whoever you are, no hate. If anyone wants to firmly stand by that theory, go ahead. You’re free to do so; that’s the beauty of fiction.

But because I try my best to tie CDDH to the canon JoJo timeline, I just have to. I’m sorry.

So, the assumption was that the ladies that Hol Horse saved from Dio’s mansion were the mothers of Giorno, Rikiel, Donatello Versus and/or Ungalo. The idea is intriguing, I know, but...

Giorno was 3-4 years old when SDC happened. Versus was 1-2. The most I can take are Rikiel and Ungalo since they were born in 1988 (SDC’s timeline is 1988-89), but that’s quite a stretch.

We know Hol Horse was an outsourced mercenary hired by Dio to be an agent, and was not recruited into his cult-like group via his charisma (like Enyaba, Enrico Pucci, Mariah and Terence D’Arby were, to name a few). I’m not sure if I can provide much evidence on this, other than the fact that out of all Agents of Dio, he was one of those who were not given a fleshbud (it’s common ground that Dio gave this to his followers if they had a strong sense of nobility and he felt like they will cross him one day) and the only one willingly betray Dio. Plus, there’s a microscopic scene in the anime where Hol Horse was showcasing his Stand’s ability to Dio and Enyaba, which, in my opinion, he didn’t have to if he was already in the cult of Dio.  

Which brings us back to the timeline. The only time and space where Hol Horse would be in Egypt, in Dio’s mansion, would be the time he was hired between 1987 and 1989 (1987 was presumably the year Dio started recruiting allies after receiving a Stand). So if the women were to be the ladies who conceived Dio’s children, they had to at least be saved in 1984 or 1986. Hol Horse wasn’t even there in the picture then.

Another reason I don’t really see the ladies conceiving Dio’s children – at least not the ones we already know – is the fact that Dio lets Giorno’s mother live back in 1984, a year after Dio reawakened. There is a possibility that she started off as Dio’s food, but ended up intriguing Dio enough to let her go and have his child. Or she was, like Mr Nijimura, a part of Dio’s cult for the money.

(which made me wonder if Hol Horse was in it for the money too, before Dio noticed he had a Stand and recruited him as an agent instead of a mere cult member...it’s a good possibility to think about!)

So yeah. The ladies are definitely not the mothers to Giorno, Donatello Versus, Rikiel and Ungalo. They are just there to tell you how Hol Horse REALLY was; the cowboy who willingly placed his neck under a raised guillotine to be a genuinely good person, even if circumstances did not allow him to be one.

However...I’d be lying if I say I don’t wish the three ladies Hol saved will reappear again and meet Hol to thank him for his help. I hope that happens in the upcoming CDDH novel.

Additionally...goddamn, Hol Horse is FUCKING STRONG. He managed to carry 3 grown women while running...just...wow.

Also, I’d like to believe Hol finished most of his cash during the SDC event to pay for this taxi driver. He was left with mostly coins, after all, and those too went to Boingo, just in case the kid got lost.

Finally, please ignore my fangirling over this panel of Hol Horse remembering the Crusaders, and Polnareff’s goofy smile was part of his memory whereas the others are just...killed and dead.

Okay let's clear up the fandom again in this blog by trying to ask about tarot cos we love Mami's readings ✨ So far what I get is P being a flirty person but also hold back... and he probably loves good convo. Well I mean it's kind of visible when I saw some of the nicer interviewers got genuine answers from him because the way they approached with their questions are good.

May I ask the cards 😈 What kind of flirty convo that might attract him? Like, in general. I mean, would he jump directly to horny-er stuff if he sees the person can tolerate it? 😂😂😂

Hiya!! Since we have already done readings about his possible flirting style for different genders before, I focused this one on the horny side of the flirting. I asked if he possibly jumps directly to hornier stuff, and the Major Arcana were Strength, The High Priestess and The Moon reversed.

So, Strength, when it comes to flirting, means he is on a mission to win over that person. like he’s gotta “dominate” them, “overpower” them, all while working his way through it, like taming a lion but not being overbearing or going od. The High Priestess points to him expressing his interest and desires in a subtle way. He might be good with the sexual innuendos (as we have seen 🤭), but he’s not gonna be explicit, he’s wise and he knows what to say to navigate the situation with grace and class. Lol. The Moon reversed represents him not being that bold and horny from the start because he tends to have anxiety and feel unsure about whether what he is seeing and feeling is accurate, if his “flirting game” really is working, and if the person is reciprocating him. He’s not certain, he can get somewhat confused, afraid of misinterpreting the person’s reactions.

The Minor Arcana were the Queen of Pentacles, Page of Wands and 7 of Pentacles. Queen of Pentacles with Strength means he will make sure to create a stable, comfortable and warm environment for the person, even nurturing in a way. That will be an important part of his “mission” to win over the person, making them feel at ease. Page of Wands with The High Priestess is curious because this Page is like an excited boy, ready for an adventure, full of fire energy and the will to explore and experiment new things. The High Priestess is mysterious and wise, not explicit, so it’s like Pedro will show glimpses of this Page, he won’t fully show him, you’ll see him popping up in the fun and witty sexual innuendos. 7 of Pentacles with The Moon reversed points to him preferring a build up when it comes to the hornier side of the flirting. He will work his way through it, no rush, just making things progress with time, since he might fear getting it all wrong and going in too strong thinking he’s got it and then be mistaken and go too far or too fast.

So, all in all, he might have a tendency to show a more subtle horniness when he flirts, for fear of fucking it all up, so he will build it up.

If there's something I noticed right away, it would be their youthful energy and healthy mindset. I would say that their soul is a new one, full of curiosity.

They have a lot of things that they want to do, places that they want to go, goals that they want to achieve. They might even have a check-list or a to-do list for all of those things. They're not afraid to lose, but it doesn't mean that they don't want to win. They're open to new experiences and always ready for challenges. They don't stray away from conflicts. In fact, they may get excited from being challenged, and like I said, they LOVE the taste of sweet victories so much. They are gonna stand up for themselves and they ain't backing down if they know that they're right.

This attitude of them can get them far in life. Further in the future, they can be in an authoritative position, a well-known and well-respected figure (they might be working in in the field of law). They're so abundant, materially and emotionally. They get their things done. They're responsible, taking a good care of themselves and those around them, too. They will always ready to support their love ones, whether it be financial matters or someone is having a meltdown, they will not hesitate to offer their money or lending an ear, lending a shoulder.

They're really clever. I think that they could be the street-smart kind of a person. Their knowledge comes from all those years of being out there, trying new stuffs, meeting new peoples, exposed to new environment. That's not something that can be learnt from school. Before they meet Jay, they might have gone through some tough times (it's The Tower, it was TOUGH tough, and inevitable too) but it was definitely worth it. I think that the Universe was teaching them how to be patience with themselves at the time. They were always on the go and had the tendency to jump into things without preparation. But they have to realize, "new" doesn't always equal "good", and they can't just jump into the sea without knowing its depth. In order to have the best experiences, one must be prepared. And with the two King cards, I'm sure that they will learn their lesson well.

A thing that I pick up on them, I would say that this is their current thoughts, is their standard in a lover. They want someone who will spoil them in every way possible (They love receiving heartfelt gifts from their person). They might find their expectations unrealistic as they believe that there is no one that can fulfill them materially and emotionally at the same time, they can only choose one. But then, taadaa, a wild Jay Park is going to appear and they will be so surprise that someone like him really exists and can offer them the love that they once thought was impossible (this is just too cute and again, when will it be my turn to be happy? :D)

BRF Reading, 5/10/2021

The cards were drawn yesterday (4/10) my time, around 11pm.

This will be the last question I ask about this Politico debacle and after that, I won't be asking any questions about this alleged Operation London Bridge leak again as the news seems to have died barring any official inquiry. This reading is under the cut as I pulled more cards than usual.

As written, this is merely a speculation and therefore must be taken with a grain of salt. This speculation is not true until proven otherwise.

My question is, what kind of documents regarding the leak did Politico have on its hands?

Cards drawn: Ace of Swords, Queen of Wands, Queen of Pentacles, The Tower, Ten of Swords

Underlying energy: Five of Wands, Eight of Wands, The Hierophant

Remarks/Comments: The dominating suit of this spread is the Wands (four out of eight cards) and Swords (two out of eight cards). Wands are the suit of creativity and passion; it is volatile and highly temperamental due to its association with the fire signs. Swords, on the other hand, is the suit of rational thoughts, the cold and clear power of the mind, associated with the air signs, so it is very interesting to see two opposing suits appear in one spread.

Summary: Politico has on their hands the documents that were given as a way to exact revenge and to chase prosperity. There are tensions surrounding these documents, and there is a need for us to look deeper beyond the surface, as it might not be what it seems to be. There will be a major change as things unfold, and these documents may be the reason for someone's downfall or trigger an end of something.

First card: Ace of Swords. Aces tend to be about new beginnings, but Ace of Swords tend to be not about that. This card speaks about clarity of vision, deceit, and self-illusion; emphasising the need to approach things with a clear mind and focused intent. This card speaks about the need to look for hard evidence and data, the need to put your emotions to one side and let the facts do the talking, and the need to look at things critically because not everything is as they seem. This card seems to suggest to me that yes, while Politico did have the documents on Operation London Bridge, there is also something else; the need to look deeper than the surface is there.

Second card: Queen of Wands. She is a strong figure associated with an Aries person. She is charismatic, mysterious, energetic, and warm; a charismatic queen with independence and confidence that is infectious and heart-warming. She is highly busy, a powerful ally, and a strong leader. However, she can be tyrannical and deceptive, manipulative and domineering, vengeful and resentful. She seems to tell me that the documents Politico acquired were given as a means to exact revenge by someone spiteful and resentful towards the BRF, that the documents were weaponised to hurt the BRF.

This falls in line with my first spread saying that the purpose of the leak was to inflict heartbreak and pain upon the BRF. Here the Queen of Wands tells me of someone vengeful that wants to inflict pain in the worst way possible -- Queen of Wands is a very strong character and what she wants, she gets.

Third card: Queen of Pentacles. She is the most motherly of all Queens, embodying the ultimate motherly archetype. She is nurturing, fertile, wealthy, successful, she embodies happiness, prosperity, and fertility. She is practical, motherly, and secure. As a court card, she stands for a Capricorn person.

Each Queen in my deck is depicted with an animal companion. The Queen of Wands is depicted to be accompanied by a black cat, while the Queen of Pentacles is depicted to be accompanied by a rabbit. Outside of a home situation where they cohabit and are raised together, cats are rabbits' natural predators. Coming after the Queen of Wands, she tells me like the black cat that appears to chase after the rabbit the Queen of Pentacle holds in her arms, the attitude taken and represented by the Queen of Wands was a way to chase after prosperity, as the rabbit symbolises prosperity.

Fourth card: The Tower. One of the two major arcana cards in this reading, The Tower heralds a change that cannot be denied or delayed, an upheaval that turns your world upside down, and a revelation that may shake you to your core. It speaks about liberation, catastrophe, drama, and pride. In my deck, this card is illustrated as a tall tower being struck by lightning as people leap or fall off the tower. This card is ruled by Mars and in my deck is associated with the sign Aries.

The lightning symbolises a sudden flash of truth, a revelation that changes the way we think and how we see the world. This card seems to suggest that the kind of documents regarding Operation London Bridge Politico have will create upheaval that will disrupt many lives -- in what form, I do not know -- but since this is a major arcana card, it is expected that we can see this upheaval publicly.

Fifth card: Ten of Swords. This is a card of ending, of betrayal, hurt, loss, economic hardship, pain, and disappointment. This card heralds an ending: of the cycle, an end of relationship or business or partnership, or even the end of a way of being. This card is depicted as a lone deer stabbed with swords, emphasising the need to go through the difficulties alone because sometimes we do need to go through our darkest times alone.

Coming after The Tower, this card seems to suggest that whatever the upheaval turns to be, it will result in exposing a betrayal and an end to something. If any inquiry is launched into investigating the documents, it will perhaps result in an end for the source and perhaps for Politico as a whole. As this card belongs to the suit of Swords, this seems to tell that the end will not be pleasant -- it will be harsh, painful, and unexpected.

Underlying energy 1: Five of Wands. This is the card of tension, conflict, and bickering. Sometimes this is the card where there is a fight for the sake of fighting, with no clear reason or cause. This card also speaks about people who cause unnecessary tension or even sabotage you, and the way to resolve the conflict is to look at things clinically and logically. This card is illustrated as two dogs fighting each other with a bird hovering over them, as the dogs wanted to eat the bird. This card seems to tell me that there is tension surrounding these documents, something similar to a do they don't they situation.

Just like how the bird can easily fly away, leaving the dogs fighting for something that is no longer there and they will realise sooner or later that the bird they want to eat is no longer there, this card also seems to tell me that while everything seems to make no sense and jumbled and there are theories abound, give it time to settle. There are certainly works being done behind the scene, and when it is time, we will know.

Underlying energy 2: Eight of Wands. This is a card of movement, speed, travel, haste, and progress. This is a very speedy card, indicating an urgency to move. This card appears when the time is right to take action, or when we have moved too quickly that there is a need to delay the action and think about our action thoroughly.

Coming after the Five of Wands, this card comes across in two ways. First, it is an advice to us all to tone down all the speculations and theorising about the supposed leak until further notice. Second, this card seems to suggest that things are moving quickly -- for example, if the palace is investigating this leak, then they have their investigations well underway.

Underlying energy 3: The Hierophant. The second of two major arcana cards in this reading, this is the card of institution, learning, organisations, community, conventionality, and traditions. Ruled by Taurus, this card represents the need to conform to the rules and fixed ideas. This card represents both the Queen, a Taurus, and the BRF as a whole. This leak is seen as a breach of rules and trust, particularly to the Queen, and the BRF wants this to be resolved as soon as possible, indicated by the Eight of Wands. This card also affirms that the documents Politico have on their hands indeed are about the Queen and are related to Operation London Bridge.

Bracketing cards (the first and the last card of the spread): My spread starts with Ace of Swords and ends with Ten of Swords. In tarot numerology, Ace is considered number one and Ten, well, 10. 1 and 10 are considered the strongest numbers available on pip cards, as they herald a beginning and an end. This seems to further elaborate on the energy the spread is giving me: the documents will result in an end for someone or something. The initial drive was there, it was strong, but in the end, it fizzles out and ends things for someone or some people. There is a sense of impending things, an end that cannot be delayed or denied because it will happen anyway.

Conclusion: Although subtly and not stated outright, my cards think the documents Politico has may have some new details that will perhaps result in an official inquiry because I see the same message over and over again in all of my three spreads. Unless I grossly misinterpreted the message my cards give, I think we will hear news about an official inquiry being launched into this leak case. Then again, as the Eight of Wands strongly advises in this spread: we may need to delay theorising and throwing suspicions here and there before there are official announcements from the Palace or a press release for this case, like the unnamed source quoted by DM mentioned if it turns out that an official inquiry will be opened.

Datura mindlessly shuffled her tarot deck, watching the tendrils of smoke swirling up from her burning sage stick. Ambrose was lounging across her couch, reading Hamlet for their literature class, and his girlfriend was sitting on the floor before him writing something. She had told Datura what it was, but the witch hadn't listened.

The couple had come over because the demon had been salted out of Prom and Pollux's place. He'd done something to annoy Pollux. Again.

Datura was happy to have the company, her extroverted nature feeling rather depleted today since she'd locked herself alone in the studio for almost twelve hours. But now that she was sitting on her favorite cushion, across the coffee table from Fiona, she was feeling... Off. Some negative energy was bothering her, but she couldn't quite pinpoint it. Hence, the sage burning.

"Are you okay, Datura?" Fiona asked softly, glancing up from her homework to give the witch a curious look. Apparently, her internal confusion was noticeable.

"Oh, I'm fine," Datura mumbled, glancing down at the deck she was still shuffling. "There's just... Something hanging around. I'm hoping the sage will clear it away."

The lounging demon turned his head to inspect the introspective witch. He couldn't sense what it was she was feeling, but he had an inkling that it was because he was often such a negative energy in rooms being a demon and all. The witches had, thankfully, quickly gotten used to his presence, so this must be something different for Datura. And it must be something pretty minor if Ambrose couldn't feel it.

"Will a distraction help?" Fiona suggested, motioning to the tarot cards. "Like showing me how to do a tarot reading?"

Datura cracked a small smile. Maybe a little magic would help.

"The best way to teach you is probably to read your cards first, and then explain the deck," Datura mused, shuffling the deck with more purpose. "First we need to decide what question we're asking. What are you hoping to learn from this reading? What's the focus?"

"What's my future like?" Fiona offered uncertainly. "Is that too broad?"

Datura chuckled. That usually was the first question humans tried to ask. She nodded her head.

"Just a little broad," Datura agreed. "What specifically in your future are you curious about? Relationships? Career?"

Fiona seemed to consider this seriously. Biting her lip, she mulled it over. While she was happy with her relationship with Ambrose, she wasn't sure she wanted to look into their future. He was a demon and she was still technically human, as her powers were just starting to grow. She was far more interested in how her powers would develop than how her relationship would. It was clear that Ambrose, despite flirting with everything that moved, was smitten with her. If she'd already managed to wrap the demon around her finger, there was no need for concern there. Power was the concern.

Ambrose looked away from his book, curious to hear what Fiona would want to learn about her future.

"I want to learn more about how my magic will develop," Fiona decided, earning raised eyebrows from both supernatural beings. "How powerful with magic could a human get?"

Something about Fiona's answer perturbed Datura. It sent the same shiver down her spine as when she had started sensing the unnamed negative energy. She couldn't help but glance at the sage stick to see if it had gone out.  It hadn't.

"Okay," Datura agreed, nodding her head with pursed lips. "So when you go to read tarot cards, you need to have a specific intention or question in mind. While you shuffle the deck, you need to keep this in the forefront of your mind. You can shuffle it any way you want, and you can spread them any way you want when you're done shuffling, but a three-card spread is easiest for your first few readings. You can either read them in the context of 'past, present, and future' or "situation, action, and outcome,' which is what I prefer."

Fiona nodded along, absorbing whatever information Datura was providing and keeping a careful eye on the cards in the witch's hands. Something about her cool, trained gaze made Datura a little nervous. She knew she was teaching Fiona how to do a tarot reading, and knew that the girl was a very good student, but something was bothering her about the girl's seriousness.

Trying to ignore her unease, Datura closed her eyes and focused her attention back on the cards. She shuffled and split the deck with expert hands, keeping the question of Fiona's future with magic in her mind. She let the cards speak to her, waiting until they decided shuffling was enough before placing the deck on the table. Opening her eyes, she kept her gaze on the cards, rather than Fiona.

"Now, you'll know when to stop shuffling pretty instinctively if you're good with magic. The cards will let you know when you're done," Datura advised the human. "I'm not sure how else to describe it other than that. It may take you a few tries to get it exactly right, but once you know, you know."

Fiona started to open her mouth, probably to ask a question, but seemed to think better of it. Datura was grateful.

"Like I said we'll do a nice three-card spread. When I lay these out, don't jump to conclusions. Lots of the cards look scary, but that doesn't mean that they are. And the same card can have different meanings based on their spot, the other cards, the questions, et cetera. Just lay them out. Get a first impression. Then try to really read them. Okay?"

Fiona nodded. Datura took a deep breath before placing her hand on the deck. Removing the cards one at a time she laid three of them out before Fiona face-down. Closing her eyes again, and taking another deep breath, Datura flipped over the first card.

"Is that... the devil?" Fiona asked, leaning closer to the card on the table to get a closer look at the half-goat, half-man being with the upside-down pentagram on his chest. She at least had the decency to look worried at such a sight.

Datura chuckled at the slightly bewildered look on the girls face.

"The devil upright," Datura agreed, making note of the orientation of the card. "It looks scary but it's not that bad. Kinda like Ambrose."

"Are you calling me a devil, Datura?" the demon drawled from his relaxed position, his eyes still trained on the book before him.

"If the card were reversed it could indicate something like a sense of freedom," Datura continued, ignoring the demon. "Releasing oneself from limits. Exploring darker thoughts."

"So what does it mean when it's upright? Confinement?" Fiona furrowed her eyebrows.

"It could mean some sort of restriction, yes. But I think in this context, it's more likely referring to your current situation: being tempted by the demon behind you and the witches you've befriended."

"I am quite seductive," Ambrose piped up again. His face was still turned away, but Datura could see edges of a smirk on his face.

Datura opted to ignore him as she rested a hand over the second card. Before she even flipped it she could sense the change in energy. While the last card was the devil, Datura knew this one was going to be the bringer of bad news.

Staring up at her, swathed in blue robes with the moon at her feet and a horned crown on her head, the high priestess revealed herself next. But upside-down.

Fiona must have sensed the hesitancy in Datura, must have seen the slight worry in the witch before her. She leaned away, no longer studying the cards but studying the witch. Datura did her best to channel her inner Prom and hide her troubling thoughts. It didn't stop Ambrose from sensing the same distress, as he sat up and glimpsed at the cards on the table. He furrowed his brows, his eyes flicking up to meet Datura's. Something was not right.

The human and demon both waited for the witch to speak.

"The reversed high priestess," she whispered, her face clear of emotion but the reverent tone in her voice making it clear that this was not a card one hoped for.

"The second card in this reading is meant to indicate action," Datura explained, keeping her eyes on the cards. "In the upright orientation, the high priestess could represent intuition or sacred knowledge."

"But in the reverse?"

"In the reverse... She often indicates secrets, hidden agendas, and harm."

A heavy silence hung over the trio. This reading was starting to trouble Datura, but she was doing her best to hide the extent of her fear. She knew that tarot readings could be tricky, even for experienced witches such as herself. There were always so many factors at play when reading the future. Things that could change. Things that could be misinterpreted. Just cause Fiona's second card, the "action," read secrets and harm didn't mean that Fiona would be keeping secrets and causing harm. It didn't even necessarily mean that secrets would be kept from her or harm done to her. There was lots of uncertainty.

Shaking her head a bit, Datura took another deep breath. She needed to relax. There was nothing from her experiences with Fiona to indicate that the human was dangerous. Datura was just on edge. Probably a lack of sleep again.

"And now, your final card: the outcome," Datura forced a smile back on her face. She moved quickly, not giving herself a chance to read the energy of the card or to second guess her actions.

She suddenly wishes that she had decided to show Fiona how to do palm readings.

It seemed at first to be a man, standing on one foot. But to the well-trained witch's eye, the card was upside-down. Meaning that the man was hanging from his foot.

Reversed hanged man.

Datura was confused. Worried. But still confused.

"Reversed hanged man," she informed Fiona, who also looked a bit confused at the card. But that was probably just from not understanding the picture.

"In the upright, the card can mean a pause, a change, a new perspective. In the reverse, it can mean much of the same thing just negative. It's not a pause, it's a delay or a standstill. It's not a change or a new perspective, it's a lack of control."

Datura furrowed her eyebrows. Something about those interpretations just wasn't sitting right with her. There had to be more to it.

"It can also indicate sacrifice when it's in this orientation," she continued softly, trying desperately to make sense of the three cards before her. "Usually of the time variety, but sometimes sacrifices of other things."

The upright devil, the reversed high priestess, and the reversed hanged man. Situation, action, and outcome. All in the context of Fiona's future with magic. How powerful could she become?

It was clear the upright devil referred to Fiona's current situation: her being tempted with magic by the witches she had discovered and the demon she was dating.

The reversed high priestess could be read as either Fiona keeping secrets and harming others, or perhaps the opposite. Maybe secrets would be kept from her and harm would befall her. Or maybe she'd become a secret, and harm would ensue. It was more difficult to piece together. Something in Datura's gut, however, was leaning towards the first explanation.

Finally, the reversed hanged man. The outcome. Usually, the sacrifices the card referred to were sacrifices of time, but Datura was skeptical. Especially given the question asked. Lots of magic required sacrificial offerings. It wouldn't be a far leap. Maybe the cards were merely referring to Fiona sacrificing a pig like the coven often did. Or maybe they were trying to warn Datura of something darker. Something much more dangerous. But surely Ambrose would never let things go that far?

Thankfully, Ambrose broke the uncomfortable silence that had befallen them.

"Well, I think the message is clear. Fiona, you're being seduced by me, we have to keep our sex a secret so we don't make Datura jealous, but it means that we have less control over our sex lives because we have to follow Datura's rules. Plain and simple."

Datura was never more thankful for the demon's teenage-boy-esque horny mind and clear avoidance tactics for confrontation.

My Thoughts On The Youtuber Channel “Little Light Studios”

first of all, I had to take some nice breathes in and out, to try to calm myself.

because frankly, after discovering about them, and their view on Anime...

I was pretty much peeved.

first time I found out about them about well a little bit ago,

I wanted to just look up something to listen to, like songs from Sailor Moon.

but then I saw a video that talks about how another Channel has some misinterpretation about cartoons/anime.

I had to look up the name of the video that has to do with “Anime Exposed”

to find the channel responsible.

let me say this, there are different anime in the world,

not all of them will be for kids, and it is the parents (no matter if they are a dad & mom, two mothers or two fathers or even a renny & mom or dad & renny)

responsibility to make sure that the little kids DO NOT watch some anime that is not meant for them, not until they are in the proper age to watch it.

and if I had to guess, not all humans know that the whole “star” thing

it’s called a pentagram right? it’s original meaning was of course demonetize.

but that can not be helped.

you know what is like to be hurt by a toxic religious person..?

I had been hurt by a toxic religious person before,

just because I believe in Mother as well, don’t mean they make me feel bad,

I mean I still believe in God and even Jesus.

but that Toxic Religious person I encountered a few years ago,

had no right to make me feel bad about me believing in a Goddess too,

and I’m pretty sure I did mention my gender identity as well that time.

I had to block them because of it.

I don’t mind if a friend is religious or even atheist.

at least not all religious people are like that, and don’t take some Anime or Cartoons the wrong way.

another thing that humans should know, is that before Anime....

that has to do with what happen to a girl, and how her mother had to take care of the new baby, and had to wait to tell the said baby girl the truth of what went down.....

I wanted to pray a blessing of protection for all the children who suffer from what that girl did....

even if it might seem mean and might be a bit cruel to some humans....

but hoping those who even try anything, will get a bad tummy ache and a headache, so they wont be able to do anything really bad, is best than hoping worse for them....even if ya might have those thoughts just a little bit, ya try to bury them deep deep DEEP down....

I do hope that maybe other people will pray for a blessing of protection for children too, there was more to what I was asking for, but I rather not say what it is....

but even if there are good people in religion,

there have been some really bad people in it,

that have done unforgivable stuff.

I like both the first and second movie of Ghost Rider, and I hope there will be another one someday.

I should try to do some stuff to take my mind off of jerks that end up peeving me off when they are either the normal type of jerk or the toxic-religious type jerk.

a few years ago I did have a panic attack while in the car.

it was a little dark, and I was alone and it was when we were getting ready to move to the house we live at now.

I was scared of certain stuff happening.

even during the day, I don’t like being left along in the car.

I mean I could go inside the store, but I don’t feel like doing that very much.

I think I am doing a bit better since that panic attack happen.

and if there is some form of therapy for Virginitphobia,

even though I still have my V-Card, I know I wouldn’t want to go through Exposure Therapy for Virginitiphobia.

I don’t think I can trust that, maybe the talking it out maybe...

but that exposure therapy, I am not sure I would trust it.

Knowledge of the ancient Varna system of India is useful to tarot practices.

Varna systems often incorrectly described as "caste systems" have been used in treating the human condition for centuries. While Varnas have been misused, misinterpreted, and distorted for all kinds of evil practices, Varnas are intrinsic to Vedic culture and Vedic thought and must be understood as a means of understanding Vedic natural healing practices.

Tarot interpretations are greatly enhanced on understanding the Varna and even the Caste systems of ancient India. In the Rider- Waite-Smith system, Waite himself described the suits as personifications of class systems: water is the clergy, emotions, nobility amongst many other things. Swords: the warrior class and the air element. Obviously, swords indicate a need to fight for or against something. Swords used to enforce or defend someone or something. Pentacles, an Earth element and of the Merchant class, wands, fire element and represent laborers, workers ( Shukra class).

Of course any caste/ class system works when interpreting all t he nuances found in the Tarot. The Varna system however is a system that is perhaps the most ancient and the most described as directly related to the collective unconsciousness. In a tarot practice, such knowledge is useful to understanding the meanings of every tarot card.

A long with many religions and philosophies, Waite studied Hinduism. Scholars describe Waite as a part of the transcendental movement of the late 19th century. The transcendental movement has roots in vedic traditions, culture and practices. Trabscendentalism is integral to the Rider Waite Smith, according to many tarot practitioners, myself included.

Pamela Smith, identified with many progressive thought movements of the late 19th century is affiliated with Vedic thought and tradition because of her work as an artist and social movements such as women's rights ( Smith according to historians was a suffragist). Smith's art studies and her work are influenced by eastern thought and tradition. Smith is a woman described as ahead of her time and as a biracial woman no doubt experienced societal harms such as racial discrimination and economic disparity. For the sake of effective tarot practice, it is essential to understand Waite and Smith's understanding of what is described as Varna.

Interestingly, Smith used the color saffron to paint the clotuubg depicted of persons within the tarot. Saffron is a color revered in India and worn by Brahmins. Also, those wanting to "be like" Brahmins would wear Saffron. In late 19th century Victorian England, the term "social climber" was often used to describe someone wanting to "move up" in social class. Victorians often equated Varna to their own take on social class system without fully understanding the Indian "caste" system.

Trying to "be like" a Brahmin is different then "trying to be like" the higher social class of western European society. At least the way I see it.

In any case, assessing each tarot card by supposed class systems and by the cloting depicted in the RWS tarot gives so much more in layers of depth, understanding, and nuances found in the RWS.

For instance: the Six of Swords:

The swords can safely be said to indicate some kind of conflict. In their position, they are "at ease" but appear to be apart of the voyage. Perhaps reinforcement for warriors involved in something protected / reinforced by the warrior class? Modern tarot readers can safely interpret the Six of swords in a modern context... and in ancient contexts

The Ferry man's passengers are a woman and a child. The woman wearing saffron reveals so much meaning and nuance. Is she a Brahmin? Is she of a lower Varna emulating a Brahmin? Is she a Brahmin providing aid to a young child?

Also, a journey by water for a Brahmin contains all kinds of significance in vedic thought and culture. Is the woman at risk for a "loss of class?" Is she a representation of someone who may jeopardize the status of a Brahmin or the Brahmin class?

So many meanings revealed in approaching tarot from the ancient Varna system and even our modern day class systems.

Of course how good or how bad a class system is can be subjective and is ultimately something to be decided by each individual tarot practitioner.

 1. What is their full name? What does it mean? Do they go by any nicknames/aliases?

His name is Morpheus Rhiannon. “Morpheus” is the Greek God of Dreams and “Rhiannon” is one of the Celtic Goddesses of the Moon (I have a thing for naming characters after mythological figures). When he was younger people used to call him “stormy” due to his spitfire personality and impulsive behavior. He didn’t change his ways, but he lost touch with the people who nicknamed him that. During some years he ran his exoteric shop under a pseudonym, “Felis” (named after the cat constellation). But nowadays everyone just call him Morpheus.

2. Do they have a familiar? What is it?

Morpheus has a small Egyptian Fruit Bat called Boo. She is tiny and scared of everything and everyone. Boo likes to hide in Morpheus scarf sometimes. Also, not a familiar but Morpheus has a lot of cactuses. All named George. All. Of. Them. Don’t question it.

3. What type/s of magic do they specialize in?

I’m not really sure how magic works in The Arcana. Besides from fortune-telling (he used to read runes before Asra taught him his tarot skills) and a very strong sixth sense, I believe Morpheus would be an Oneiromancer (a mage who interprets dreams) and have a few lightning-related attack spells.

4. Which of the major arcana best represents them?

I guess all the apprentices are meant to be The Fool card, at least in the beginning of the story, since it means, among other things, “Set forth on a new journey, one that is completely unknown and will take you to uncharted territories”, pretty fitting. But I think Morpheus can also be represented by a Reversed Moon card: It means he’s living in a moment of unhappiness and discomfort but he doesn’t know what he can do about it. Past experiences made him doubt himself, doubt if he is able to move forward. The Reversed Moon also means he is in a more intuitive phase than a reasoned one, though his intuition feels confusing which leads to possible misinterpretation.

Also, if I had to pick a future card for Morpheus, it’d be The Judgement: “With its theme of awakening to new life, the Judgement card suggests that you have reviewed and evaluated your past experiences and have learned from them. All the pieces of the puzzle of your life are finally coming together to form one, integrated picture of your life story. This integration has healed any deep wounds and you are now in a position to put the past behind you.”  

And since I’m super into runes, I’d like to add that Morpheus runes are Perthro (Secrets, mystery, occult abilities. Determining your path in the future.) and Algiz (Awakening, connection with higher powers. Follow your intuition. A desire to protect yourself or others.)

Either a raccoon or a peacock. Raccoon because he is small (kinda, he is 5’7/171cm), has dark circles under his eyes, looks cute but will fight you and peacock because he’s super flamboyant. As for his spirit animal, I think the one that fits him best is the bat (maybe that’s why he has a pet bat). The bat represents people that are aware and sensitive of their surroundings, that can have high psychic levels, have high chances of have prophetic dreams and are not easily fooled by illusions.

11. What did they think of Asra leaving? Of his gift? 

Morpheus relationship with Asra is… complicated, as the baker said. Morpheus likes Asra, he really enjoys his company. But every time he feels they are getting closer, Asra leaves. In the beginning, he didn’t mind the secrecy around Asra’s travels but as the time passed, it started to bother Morpheus. A lot. He doesn’t understand why his master doesn’t trust him after all this time. So when Asra said he was leaving again, Morpheus got really pissed. About the gift, well… It’s not like Morpheus wasn’t marveled by the tarot deck but his sixth sense tells him that cards are trouble. He didn’t really want to accept the deck, he doesn’t need it, he can very well use his runes for guidance. Plus, the fact that it’s the first time Asra leaves that bloody cards behind is suspicious.

12. What do they think of Nadia’s request that they go to the palace?

First of all, Morpheus doesn’t like Countess Nadia at all. He thinks she is tyrant who doesn’t care about her people. So when she shows up in the middle of the night demanding that he goes to the palace his first thoughts are “Who does she think she is? I mean she is the Countess and all but still??”. He was planning in ignoring her request, but after the card telling him she has a plan in motion he got curious about it and decided to give it a chance. When he actually went to the palace and heard what Nadia had in mind he was like “Nope. I don’t want to be a part of it. Nonononono NO”. However, even though Morpheus made it very clear he wouldn’t cooperate with the Countess, she didn’t really care, so… yeah. Let’s just say “curiosity killed the cat” is a very fitting proverb.  

13. What do they think of the various animals they encounter at the palace?

MUST. PET. THEM. ALL. Yes, even the vampire eels. Seriously now, Morpheus really like animals, but knows how to respect them. He has plenty conscience that some creatures are only to be admired from a distance, which seems to be the case with most of the animals he encountered in the palace, unfortunately.

14. What is their day-to-day outfit? What do they wear when the dress up (such as for the masquerade)?

In his day-to-day Morpheus likes to wear comfortable clothes, usually tapered harem pants and a tunic or a gypsy shirt, with flats on his shoes. His clothes are mostly in shades of purple and black, with some sea-green accessory. In a fancier meeting, he’ll go more flamboyant. The pants would be less baggy, the shirt would be more open with the classic Arcana Tiddy Window™ and he’d probably wear a shawl around his waist. He would wear lace-up boots with a short heel. The color palette would be the same but more sparkly. In his head he’ll use a silver circlet, and some bracelets with fake coins.   As for the masquerade, I picture him with a very open dark red shirt, which pretty much just covers his shoulders and arms, matching colors with an asymmetrical sarong skirt, over the shirt and skirt he wears a purple corset with some jades decorating it. Bellow the shirt he wears a light brownish flare pants. As for shoes, he wears bright red ankle strap high heels. And last, but not least, he wears a bright red choker on his neck, to match the shoes.

Morpheus likes cold and rainy weather. He hates when it gets too hot, it makes him grumpy and even lazier than he usually is. Also the earthy smell after the rain reminds him of home.

Even though Morpheus is not the type to get attached to things, he has two very prized possessions. One is a small and rusty green dream-catcher with a single agate stone stuck in the middle. When Morpheus was younger he had terrible nightmares every night, he’d wake up screaming and crying and had a really hard time going back to sleep. So his mother made that dream-catcher to help him out. He never find out if it was actually enchanted at that time or it just helped ease Morpheus mind. The second thing is his set of runes. His older brother made it to him out of red wood once they started noticing Morpheus had a gift for fortune telling. Morpheus used those runes to read the fortune to some people in his home-town, earning a few extra coins for his family. Nowadays he uses another set, made of tourmaline stones, but every time he needs guidance to himself, he runs back to his old redwood runes. 17. Do they collect anything?

Looks wise most people mistake him for a woman. Not that he minds, he’s fine with it. Now, about his personality, people often think he is cocky, they think Morpheus thinks he is better than anyone else. This is totally not the case. Morpheus believes that everyone comes to the world for a reason; everyone has one meaning in life. He just doesn’t know what his reason and meaning are. He wants to figure out what is his role in the world.

First thing first, there are two cards in the spread indicate that this person might be Sunghoon's romantic soulmate which are the Two of Cups (romantic connection) and Six of Cups (deep connection in general). A few days before I also asked for a reading from my friend on this same subject and the Two of Cups was there, too. So yayyyyy, congratulation to both of them for that!! (just as a disclaimer, this is just my opinion on the whole subject, not gospel or anything. in case you didn't notice the informal prose e liberal use of vocabulary and puntuation.) now our man CGJ never mentions tarot cards ever, as far as i know, but he was very into the i-ching, another divination technique. now, without delving too much into collective subsconscious, archetypes and synchronicity, what i took away from Jung is that sometimetimes your mind interprets something as a sign because it somehow triggered your unconscious at the right time and place. so something meaningless and random (like hey, fishing a card out of a deck!) con become really meaningful to you even though it escapes standard cause-effect correlations. and that's basically how i see tarot cards, very helpful triggers for fishing out things that consciously or subconsciously have ben swimming right below the surface of my mind, either because i didn't want to see them or because at the moment i couldn't. now, you could argue that you hardly need a deck of cards, or coins, or dice, to do this, you could assign some random meaning to some random things that speak to you and use those as triggers. and hey, you'd be right! tarot cards to me are easier to use just because there's already a set of associations made with each card, so i can be lazy and read up what other people thought about them and then decide if i agree with them or not; they are quite pretty to look at, and with unusual imagery that helps me make unusual connections, unlike those i would make if i were just normally thinking about something; they *are* quite pretty; and also they are link with a centuries old tradition of mysticism and old wise women and whatnot that really puts me in the mood for deep, emotional thinking, and also make me feel quite cool while doing it. what, i am shallow, ok? now, for the deck: traditionally it's divided into two parts, major arcana and minor arcana, which is a fancy way to say bigger mysteries and smaller mysteries. the minor arcana are the bits of the deck that evolved into modern playing cards, while as far as i know major arcana kept being used only by tarotists/cartomancers/what have you. different decks can belong to different traditions (you know the ones, rider-waite-smith, marseille, crowley's toth tarots), but generally speaking most decks are still split into two this way. the division between major and minor is not just some archaic separation from a dark past that still somehow survives today because we collectively decided that yes, we liked it like that and didin't want to change, it's actually meaningful for readings. as in, when a major arcanum pops up in one of your readings, it may be to suggest your subconsciuous something that has to do with The Grand Scheme Of Your Life. it's not telling you that you forgot again to put the milk back in the fridge after you were done with it, it's probably kind of nudging you torwards some character trait that you have, or experiences that are really meaningful to your existence. less "put away the damn milk" and more "stop living with your heads in the clouds or you're going to get it lost up there, and then we'll see how you'll go about things, miss." now, that's not a hard and fast rule, sometimes a major arcanum is just about mundane things, and a minor arcanum coul be the card that's truth-bombing all over your reading, being a bubbling cauldron of symbols a lot depends on card position and card relationship with the other cards in the reading, so it's all a matter of interpretation. speaking of interpretation, books are super useful to get a general idea of what each card is about, but if "the jolly book of tarot reading" is saying that the two of swords inevitably means "somebody will stab you in the back twice", and your gut feeling is vehemently protesting and insisting that, really, it means " two people will stab you in the back one time each", go with your gut feeling. we're talking about symbols that are meaningful to the specific subconscious mind that you have. let it have its say! also, *do* read for yourself. i mean, you are biased and you will likely misinterpret half of what the cards are trying to convey, but they will convey something to you, and more often than not that will be useful, wether you'll be making a learning mistake or get it right. also, it's good practice for when it comes to reading for other people, at least in my experience.
