rip to hiiragi in the moon-splitting festival arc though. first she paints a protection charm on natsume's arm, standard stuff, but even though right before this he was in a huge hurry to get back to everyone else to make sure they're safe, he's like okay now let's do you. and takes the brush and paints the same charm on her arm. uhhhh. okay. this is fine. okay. then minutes later he throws himself in front of her to protect her from a ton of falling logs with his fragile human body. like not only is he actively making it harder for her to do her job, which is to protect him, by doing stupid heroic shit that puts him in danger, but he's doing said heroic shit to protect HER? like he thinks she's a PERSON??? the fuck is she supposed to do with this shit!
#i wrote some run-on tags the other day about how my favorite storytelling device in natsuyuu is the sensei reaction shots#and one of the things i ran out of room to say is that my SECOND favorite storytelling device in natsuyuu#is the hiiragi reaction shots#because a) it makes total sense that we would want to see her reaction to natsume treating her like a person but b)#SHE ALWAYS LOOKS THE SAME. SHE'S WEARING A MASK THAT COVERS HER ENTIRE FACE.#which means that we just have to infer her reaction. which is such a funny function for a reaction shot to serve!#'hey btw this character is having feelings. not telling you which ones.'#and FURTHERMORE c) not only does her facial expression never differ but said facial expression is one of a vacant-eyed smile#which in turn means that the reaction her mask makes it look like she's having is basically 'um. what. ha ha. the fuck?'#which! i think often is what her reaction actually is! so it circles back around to being accurate! hello!!!#absolutely genius character design. i am obsessed.#natsume's book of friends#natsume yuujinchou#hiiragi#my posts#f#i'm rewatching all the natori episodes because i love him but it's just reminding me how much i love hiiragi and sensei also 😩#i have other stuff i should be doing today BUT i did successfully get a fill for another themed xword so i'm giving myself a lil break#UGH natsume comes to at the end of the episode with natori's jacket draped over him and sensei lying on natsume's stomach#on top of the jacket...#these characters will be the death of me is2g

Brat (Satoru Gojo x Reader)
Prompt: Satoru and his girlfriend Y/n are in an argument over his celebrity crush on Inoue Waka. Y/n is ignoring Satoru which absolutely drives him crazy.
Pairing: Satoru x reader
Warnings: some swearing, light light light smut (making out), gojo being gojo
Word Count: 7k
Notes: this is set broadly around season 2 episode 2 plot, with some clear changes from the original episode. riko and suguru are included.
Tumblr media
“You changed your home screen?” Suguru commented nonchalantly. He took notice of the sudden alteration to his friend’s phone almost immediately. The difference wasn’t hard to spot seeing as the last two years all Satoru had used for his background images were various photos of his girlfriend, Y/n, whom he loved showing off.
Suguru was accustomed to the photos being circulated in a never ending pattern, Y/n and Satoru at the beach, Y/n in a scandalous position she beat him into removing, Y/n sleeping on his chest, Y/n and him sharing sweets, Y/n on her birthday grinning widely as she sat in front of her cake, the couple doing mud masks together, Y/n in front of the eiffel tower, and so on, however it was entirely new for him to see the famous, bikini clad Japanese model as his friend's home screen instead of his girlfriend. Suguru’s brow was raised as Satoru chuckled to himself.
“To Inoue Waka.” Gojo smiled in triumph, like he was in some war that he had finally found the upper hand in. “Y/n and I are in a fight- it’s certain to get a reaction out of her.”
Despite his explanation, Suguru found himself lost in confusion. Only a night prior to leaving for their mission to protect and deliver the star plasma vessel, Geto had been sitting in attendance as he witnessed the couple's one of many bickering sessions. He really couldn’t blame Y/n much, seeing as he also found himself disagreeing with the white haired prodigy on the regular as well, yet this fight was one hundred percent, without a doubt in his mind, Satoru Gojo’s fault. Being as the argument was his wrong doing, Suguru couldn’t understand why his friend would sink himself deeper in the grave with his strong willed girlfriend rather than admit he messed up. And he certainly couldn’t see how an image of another woman- a model their argument steamed from, in a bikini too tight her boobs were practically over spilling from, would help his case.
The pair seemed to forget where they were until the young voice of the vessel of Tengen-sama herself reminded them of her presence.
“Listen to me!” Riko shouted, irritation lacing her words. The young girl was set to explode off on the boys like a firecracker for their rude behavior in dismissing her heartfelt declaration on becoming one with Tengen-sama and Tengen-sama one with her, when suddenly the mention of the feminine name caught her attention. “Wait, Y/n?” She questioned. Riko didn’t see another female insight besides Kuroi but she sure hoped there was a sane female mind among the brainless men sitting among her.
At her words, the man with hair white as snow leaned against the couch and ran a hand along his face. He narrowed his gaze, giving the girl a leer as if he found it ridiculous he had to explain who this Y/n was to her.
“My strikingly beautiful, insanely stubborn, bratty, gorgeous girlfriend.” He moaned as his head fell back against the sofa, like the explanation was difficult enough. Through his dark rimmed glasses Gojo looked over to Riko, changing the topic all together. “I bet you don’t have many friends if you talk like that.”
“We won’t have to feel bad sending you off.” Suguru muttered.
“I talk normally at school!” She expressed in an exacerbated tone, then quickly stepped forward pointing an accusing finger in the white haired man’s face. “And it’s you who shouldn’t have any friends! You certainly don’t deserve a girlfriend if you’re calling her a brat behind her back, you should be ashamed of yourself!” She reprimanded.
Suguru lifted his gaze, intrigued by her final comment. Satoru didn’t actually think of his girlfriend as a brat, but of course Riko didn’t understand how the couple worked and there was no time to explain how Gojo called his girlfriend a brat in an endearing way- unlike his usage for it towards her. When Gojo used it towards Riko, he meant it. If they had the time, Geto might even explain how Y/n commonly refers to her boyfriend as a ‘trust fund baby’ or ‘a prick’, both of which are factual, yet it’s out of love between the two.
Satoru ignored her quip, finding her opinion on his relationship totally useless. He knew his love for Y/n was larger than his will to live, yet he saw no point in expressing that to this girl. Riko didn’t know one thing about his relationship with Y/n so why did he care what the girl thought? Sure, he probably did sound like a complete jerk, however he couldn’t care less if the star plasma vessel before him found him to be a bad person for what she was hearing.
Suguru glanced at Satoru, curious to see if the sorcerer was going to give a reaction however the six eye holder simply scrolled away on his phone, searching for the perfect image of his celebrity model crush to use as his lock screen.
“School…” She mumbled out. “Kuroi, what time is it?!”
Satoru, Suguru, and Kuroi all sat scattered around the abandoned outdoor pool of Renchoku Girls' Junior High, all thinking of different things. Kuroi found herself reflecting on the time she spent practically raising the young girl who would soon be sacrificing herself as a vessel. Suguru’s mind wandered to how they were going to keep Riko safe until making it to Jujutsu High. All Satoru could think about was why his girlfriend wouldn’t answer his calls. Dangling his shoes above the water, Satoru kicked at the murky water in vex as yet another call went unanswered.
“Huh?! She keeps sending me straight to voicemail- Suguru, let me borrow your phone!” Satoru failed to turn around as he extended his arm behind himself, impatiently awaiting Geto’s cellphone.
Begrudgingly Suguru dug his phone out from his side pocket and handed the cell phone over to his hysterical friend. He had already seen this play out a million times before and was positive the outcome would be no different; Gojo does something easily avoidable and pisses Y/n off, they get into an argument because it physically pains Gojo to admit his wrong doings, Y/n ignores him, he pretends he’s fine and acts as if he enjoys the distance created, that lasts for a few hours at most, then Gojo acts like a crazed person trying to get his girlfriend to respond while she is clearly still upset.
Miles away in Tokyo, Y/n saw the face of her good friend Suguru pop up on her screen. Her brain screamed it was just her idiot boyfriend trying to convince her to speak to him. Maybe it really was Suguru calling to inform her of their mission. Hesitantly, Y/n accepted the call and lifted the phone to her ear.
“Hi, pretty girl- uh?! She hung up on me!” Gojo shrieked as the line went dead on the other end. He pulled the phone away from his ear and stared the the screen in disbelief, almost as if the mobile device had zapped him like an electrical shock. His mouth hung wide, a look of absolute astonishment polarizing his features. A few moments of staring at the blank screen passed by, Gojo awaiting a returning call from his love to declare it was all some prank, yet nothing came. Suguru outstretched his hand towards his friend,
“Satoru, can I have my phone back?”
The blue eyed man gave an over exaggerated groan then carelessly tossed the cellular device back to its rightful owner.
“Fine. Ugh! Can’t believe how dramatic she’s being! Just wait until I get back to Jujutsu High and don’t share any of my mochi with her. She’s going to have to wait at least a week until I give her that necklace I bought.” He huffed like a child. Resting his chin in the palm of his hand, Satoru gazed out at the pool. From behind he could hear a chuckle from his friend, causing him to turn his head. As expected, Suguru was chuckling to himself at his expense. Squinting his eyes, Satoru sent a scowl, unimpressed at Suguru’s amusement over his situation.
“Well, you did go on an entire rant to her about how hot Inoue Waka is, how she’s your dream girl, then you told Y/n you’re only dating her because Inoue Waka hasn’t returned any of your fanmail-”
“That was a joke.” Satoru dismissed his argument, shaking his head, still playing a blind eye to his wrong doings.
“And you said Y/n is lucky to be dating you… so, one might call her response reasonable.” Sure, Suguru was Satoru’s friend first, but he was also Y/n’s friend and he had no issue telling Satoru the truth when he was in the wrong, like he was now.  “Not to mention the new background which is sure to warm her heart.” Suguru pointed out. Gojo preferred to convince himself that his partner was wrong, although the nagging voice in the back of his head claimed otherwise. An abrupt quip from Geto on two of his cursed spirits no longer roaming around Riko sent all three sprinting to find her location, and still, even while the choir girls and sensei fawned over him, Gojo could not stop replaying his earlier fight with Y/n, wondering what he could do to get a response from her.
Satoru and Riko were currently running from the chapel on her school grounds- well, Satoru was running while he had the young school girl hoisted by the back of her uniform. An unexpected attack had caused a bump in the road and now Gojo had to protect the girl on his own until he could find Suguru, not that the task would be difficult by any means, Satoru simply had his mind elsewhere. Speaking of elsewhere, his cell phone started ringing from his side pocket, and before he could reach for the mobile device, the young girl plucked it out in one motion. Satoru went to steal his phone back when she raised the phone to her ear and, as if it belonged to her, answered the call meant for Satoru.
“Eh? Give that here-” Gojo reached his hand to snatch his phone back from Riko, yet instead she pulled the device right to her ear and began rambling. If she wasn't on the mission Satoru was certain he’d have dropped her off the building right then and there, but he had no time to make another effort to yank the phone as he needed to reach higher ground. It wasn’t until Gojo heard the sound of his girlfriend’s voice that his heart dropped straight to his ass. ‘Oh no’, he thought.
“Is this Y/n?” The girl eagerly asked. A far off voice replied, making Gojo reach out once more to snatch his phone back, only for the vessel to jerk her head away from his grasp. He knew there was no time to stop, he had to get to higher ground and then he could steal his phone back and make things right with his girlfriend- he just hoped Riko and her big mouth wouldn’t taint that chance for him.
Before he could try to reason with the girl and convince her not to say anything more, Riko began rambling and there was nothing he could do to stop her. Gojo could sense another curse user in their perimeter and knew it was essential for his focus to remain on keeping the vessel safe, even if she was a pain in his ass.
“My name is Riko- yes, I am! Listen, your boyfriend is a total selfish, inconsiderate, self obsessed jerk! He barged into my choir class all high and mighty and bathed in the attention as the girls swarmed him- he even took his stupid little glasses off for them to all swoon over his eyes! He was totally leaning into their lust for him! My sensei even gave him her phone number-”
“Ah! Hey! Give me my phone back- are you trying to get me murdered?!” Nope, ah uh, not happening, Gojo thought as he tore his cellphone away from her hands. Riko turned to look at him, but the mix of fear and absolute terror on his face kept her words at bay. He sent the girl a cold glare, electric blue eyes narrowed in frustration. “My girlfriend is-”
The abrupt sound of his beloved girlfriend screaming at him sent Satoru back to reality as he glanced at the phone screen, then resentfully lifted the mobile to his ear.
“Hi, princess- why’re you yelling?! I don’t know what this crazy girl is talking about-”
Even Riko was experiencing a small twang of regret as the manic shouting on the opposite end of the line seemed to worsen with every passing second. As far as only knowing the cocky sorcerer for less than a full day, this change in posterior surprised her. Riko was taken aback to see him practically cowering at the words the girl seemed to be seething. All day he had been ranting and raving about how powerful he was- clearly the conceited type, yet here he was nearly shaking like a leaf as his girlfriend scolds him. Riko wonders for a brief moment if she should’ve minded her own business.
A minute more of screaming and cursing passed until Satoru seemed to find his voice, or rather thought of a viable excuse, and nervously cut the girl off.
“I’ve got to go, a curse user attacked! See you later, my love!” He hurriedly smacked his finger against the red button on the bottom of the phone, desperate to end the call as quickly as humanly possible. Riko stared up at him as she dangled above the ground, and as their eyes met, Gojo rolled his, displaying his anger towards the girl as broad as daylight.
Gojo scoffed down at the girl as he continued to hoist her above the earth by the back of her shirt, carrying her as if she was a briefcase, or bag of groceries, though certainly not as one should hold a human. Riko huffed, folding her arms across her chest, but Gojo paid no mind to her emotions, too upset with her actions and interjecting herself in his personal relationship. Jumping to the building to their right, a childlike huff heaved from his chest.
“Jeez, you’re really a handful, brat. Now I’ve got more of a mess waiting at Jujutsu High for me.”
After the pair met up with Suguru and Kuroi, the four were beyond ready to be inside the safety barrier of Jujutsu High and left at once. After arriving at the school, the sun had long since fallen and the sky was teetering between a navy and black shade. Suguru gave his partner a curt nod, gesturing his head towards the dorm rooms, insisting he could handle escorting Riko into the tombs of the star corridor. Satoru sent his friend a grateful smile, bid the vessel and her guardian a farewell, then took off for the dorms. A small, minute, fraction of him was going to miss the kid, but she agreed to her destiny and up until now, seemed relatively pleased with her choice. Satoru jogged up the steps of the dormitory until he finally reached the fourth floor, the floor only occupied by female students. It wasn’t hard to locate Y/n’s room as he had snuck in past curfew more times than he could count, he reached her door with ease.
His knuckles tapped against the wooden door, allowing less than a fair second to pass before he jimmied the handle. Usually a locked door would be a sign to walk away and try again in the morning, but Satoru only saw it as a slight hiccup. Pulling a credit card from his back pocket, Satoru slid the heavy black card through the slit between the frame and the door itself, shimming the card down to the lock while simultaneously twisting the knob back and forth. He gave the handle one quick turn to the left and abruptly the door swung open causing him to stumble less than graciously into the dimly lit room.
Creeping in, Gojo carefully shut the door behind him and fully stepped into the dorm. The pink clock on her desk flashed half past midnight, but he knew his night owl of a girlfriend was sure to be awake, despite the eerie silence in the room. Tiptoeing his way towards the bed in the corner, Gojo let out a whisper,
“Princess, I’m home! Are you awake?”
He sat himself on the edge of the mattress, placing the large shopping bag by his feet as he cautiously examined the heap hidden under a pile of blankets. Running his hand up and down the smooth fleece, Satoru could feel someone shifting around underneath. He leaned his head down, bending his body at an awkward angel, to rest it on top of what he assumed to be her side- that was until an elbow pulled back from under and collided sharply with his temple.
A pained yelp sounded as he jumped back in surprise and fell to the floor causing a ‘thud’ to sound out. The figure on the bed threw the covers off her head as her fiery leer met Gojo’s stunned expression.
“No.” She sneered. Though this did not deter the boy as he had previously prepared himself for an attitude filled reunion- especially due to how their last conversation had ended. Propping himself up to his feet once more, Satoru was determined to try again.
“I brought you presents- look!” He rustled through the paper bag and yanked out four neatly wrapped parcels, and smiled while shoving his outstretched arms towards the glaring girl. However she refused to move, and instead continued murdering the sorcerer with her deathly scowl instead. Gojo let out a dramatic sigh, gesturing to the boxes in his arms once more. “C’mon, pretty girl, you gotta open the gifts-”
“Why don’t you go give it to those choir school girls- or what about their instructor-” A taunting laugh fell from her pink lips. “Better yet, send it to Inoue Waka and see if she finally responds to your love letters!”
“Oh, c’mon, pumpkin! Are you really still upset about that?” Gojo whined. Here he was, bearing gifts in hand, and she was still angry about something that happened so, so long ago? Gojo ran his calloused hand across his face.
“Still upset? It just happened today!”
“If it’s any consolation, those school girls weren’t even in high school so they were way too young for me anyhow.” And none of them compared to you, he wanted to add. Y/n tossed from her position in the bed so her face was now peeking out between covers as her eyes flared. If the situation wasn’t so serious, Gojo would reach out to pinch at the cute chub of her cheek and comment on how adorable she appeared, yet he knew better than to try to weasel his way out of this one.
“Ah, so you were flirting with a bunch of children and a cougar? Sounds a lot better that way, Satoru.” She shot back, sass soaking her words. Her rebuttal had Gojo rethinking his words. The issue with dating a woman like Y/n was she was far more intelligent then himself and simply didn’t fall for his handsome looks and boyish charm, which Gojo relied on when it came to the opposite sex. Not that this was a bad thing, so to say, it was actually one of the thousands of reasons why he loved her so much- she wasn’t shallow minded and saw him far beyond his outward appearance. Setting the presents on her freshly organized desk, Satoru ran a hand through his hair and awkwardly rubbed at the back of his neck.
“Technically, it wasn’t flirting in the sense you’re thinking of, I had to distract the class with my charm and good looks so I could sneak Master Tengen’s vessel out of class- I wasn’t lying about us being under attack by another curse user, that was true!”
“What about her number, huh?” Y/n scoffed.
“She offered it, but I never accepted it.” Luckily he was telling the truth and Y/n believed him. Despite trusting his confession, she didn’t do anything more.
A silence greeted the couple, neither certain of what to say next. Y/n lifted the blankets from her lap and stood from her bed in front of her boyfriend. Sure the gesture was small, but Satoru took her willingness to step closer to his frame as a good thing as his arms reached out to pull her body against his in a bone crushing hug. His forehead pressed against her shoulder while he kissed the spot. Y/n thought about pulling away for a second, she thought about making him work harder to gain her forgiveness, but his arms felt far too comforting around her body for her to shake him off. With his head buried in her shoulder, Gojo glanced up to Y/n, a softness in his eyes as he spoke,
“Do you forgive me, pretty girl? I’m sorry I made you upset… I don’t like it when you’re mad at me.”
When she didn’t answer right away, Gojo lifted his head from her so he could properly look her in the eyes. He could visibly see the clouds of anger clearing as she quietly stared back at him. His hand then moved to wrap around the side of her face, his gentleness causing her to melt against his palm. She desperately wanted to smack his hand away, curse him then send him off to his room for the night, but she couldn’t. His touch sparked a series of shivers through her body which only made her long for him to pull her closer.
A grin broke across his features as he accepted her lack of resistance as approval for his apology and began to move closer towards her face. If she slapped him away, then he’d know he misread the signs, but she didn’t. Their faces were so close in distance Y/n could smell the welcoming scent of peppermint swirling from his parted lips. These were the times she found herself grateful for his sweet tooth, it usually made for sweeter kisses. Wordlessly, Y/n pushed herself to close the distance and pressed her lips to connect to his. Gojo hums as he dips his head lower to gain advantage as he deepens the exchange.
His mouth is warm against hers, inviting, as he kisses her. She can feel his tongue as it slips inside her mouth, almost like it was entering its second home, seeing as easily as it made itself comfortable and friendly against her own. Her fingers gripped at his white strands, pulling his face closer. All the frustration, all the emotions she had been experiencing towards him for the last day melted into the kiss. Satoru had one hand wrapped around her waist, holding her middle against his hips and his other swooped up around her lifted arm, leaving his hand to rest on the back of her neck, not letting her pull away even if she wanted to.
Y/n could taste the strawberry chapstick on his lips, the same chapstick he had stolen from her only a week prior. He wasn’t lying, the taste was addictive. Gojo’s lips captured her bottom in a heated move, sucking on the skin with the slightest hint of friction as his teeth light delved into the plumpness. She had no time to muffle the moan passing through her, to which he smirked at the sound.
A sense of shame washed over her once she realized he had won the silent battle. Instead, Y/n yanked at his hair from the root and pulled his lips back against hers, kissing him with such force he nearly stumbled back a footing. Gojo’s eyes widened in the middle of the kiss, surprised at her boldness and the way her tongue was invading his mouth. He could feel the material of his uniform growing tighter as his jeans constricted against his crotch. Y/n sucked on the silky smoothness of his tongue, small smacks sounding as she dominated the heated makeout.
A shudder danced down his spine at the feeling of her hand pressed against his groin, his hips subconsciously grinding against her palm. Rubbing her hand along the zipper Y/n toyed with the cool metal, silently teasing her boyfriend as a means of revenge for his actions. Just as she began pulling the slider down, her lips pulled away from him at once, much to Satoru’s disappointment. His mouth hung low as a small whine sounded.
Y/n simply ignored his childish ways, and reached for the bottom of her shirt, causing him to smile once more. Peeling the shirt that belonged to him off her body, Y/n threw it to the floor then fell back against her mattress, motioning Gojo over with the flick of her wrist. Satoru stalked towards her on the bed, almost like a predator sneaking up on it’s prey. His eyes held a look of hunger she rarely saw but bathed in the heat searing from it.
Climbing over her body, Satoru placed himself so he was looming above her, his zipper hanging half undone. Y/n tilted her head, pretending not to understand the look on his face. Gojo shook his head then leaned his face so his lips could skim against her exposed neck. He let his mouth trail up the side of her skin, hot breath fanning over her coolness. His hands lifted to grope at the covering of her bra, giving the material a tug. He came to a stop once his mouth was pressed against the shell of her ear, his voice sending a wave of pleasure straight to her core,
“I love it when my princess is being a little brat… think I need to put you back in your place.”
Without warning his lips attached to her neck and harshly began to suck at the skin, surely leaving a trail of blotchy red marks. Y/n’s whole body hitched at the overwhelming rush of excitement, her hips lifting only to be shoved back into the mattress by his own which hovered barely an inch above.
She let her head fall to the side, allowing Satoru more access to her neck, her eyes hardly opened as she basked in the tingling his mouth brought. Hands traveled up and down his back, nails lightly scratching against him as her body wormed from his lips making love to her skin. Y/n nearly closed her eyes all together, she nearly allowed herself to get lost in his kiss, that was until a distant ‘ding’ caught her attention and the phone beside her head lit up.
A text notification from Suguru popped up on Satoru’s phone, but that wasn’t what caught Y/n’s attention, no, her fixation settled in on the nearly naked photo of the famous model Inoue Waka. The same Inoue Waka that sparked the original fight between the couple, the same Inoue Waka Satoru called hot, the one he declared his dream girl, and same Inoue Waka Satoru said he’d be dating if she’d give him a chance- Y/n was fuming in rage. Pushing both hands on his chest, Y/n physically shoved Satoru off her body causing him to tumble off the side of the bed. His hands flailed out in an attempt to grab for stability, although failed as he rolled to the wood floor, his back smacking against the ground. Gojo laid still on the floor, his mind still trying to process the whole event as he rubbed at the ache on the back of his head. Sitting up straight she reached out for his phone and held it in his face as she screamed,
“Are you fucking kidding me, Satoru?! You put Inoue Waka as your background?!”
“Hehe… that was meant to be a joke…” The fear in his voice transcribed in shaky words as Y/n chucked the phone at him, barely missing his face as he lunged to the side. She snatched his shirt off the ground and threw it back on, covering her chest as Gojo scrambled to grab his cellphone.
“Fine, I’ve got an even funnier joke for you,” A taunting smile full of hidden anger laced her lips as her finger jutted towards her door. “Get out!”
His face fell all at once, a deep pout tattooed on his lips. Maybe he should’ve listened to Suguru earlier when he insisted this was a bad idea- if he’d had listened to Suguru, the two would probably be tangled in her bed sheets by now, but no, Gojo had to press her buttons even further. Opening his phone, Satoru clicked on the most recent image of Y/n and faster than the speed of light, set the photo to his new lock and home screen.
“Aw, c’mon! I’ll change it right now- see! Look, pumpkin, it’s a picture of my favorite girl-” Gojo flipped his phone around, allowing the bright screen to illuminate Y/n’s face. She glanced up, and Satoru watched in utter confusion as her expression went from upset to lividly irate. His heartbeat multiplied in rate, obviously terrified of the disturbing reaction she held to seeing her face on his phone, or what he thought was her face.
“You fucking asshole.” She growled. If this was his idea of a practical joke, Y/n was ready to make him single. Gojo’s eyes grew like a mass, quickly turning his phone back only to see what caused such a profuse reaction. The image hadn’t changed and was the same exact photo as previously of Inoue Waka propped up on her knees sitting in the sand as her breasts nearly poured out of her excuse of a bikini.
“Shit! I promise I thought I hit save- just give me a second, I’m panicking!” He screeched. His fingers moved at the speed of light as Satoru helplessly tried to set his girlfriend’s smiling face as his background, hoping to at least save some ground between the couple. What he failed to notice in his alarmed state was Y/n reaching out for her phone, scrolling through her photo album and setting a new image on hers.
“No, no, it’s fine, Gojo, really. I’ll just change my background to a picture of my favorite guy.” The smile she wore was not one of love, no it held more malice, evilness like she had just completed a plot to end the world. Satoru’s head nudged to the side, his eyebrows pulled together in a line of skepticism.
“I’m already your background, princess…” He mumbled. Clarity was granted as the girl tossed her cellphone, to which he caught with ease. Clicking the power button, Gojo gave a dramatized gasp.
“Is… is that Suguru?! How’d you get this picture? Did he send this to you? Oh my god I’m going to kill him-”
“I think he looks cute.” Y/n smirked. Obviously it was all a ruse to get back at him for his immaturity, but she couldn’t help the sense of pride creeping up at the over the top reaction from Gojo. The photo itself came from a night out the couple shared, one with their usual third wheel, Geto. Four shots in and five mixed drinks, Suguru was having quite the time, which led to a gallery full of images that he insisted the three took together- and if Gojo would look a little closer, he’d notice the small wisps of pure white hair sticking out from the edge of the cropped image, but Y/n didn’t need to tell him that, it was far more amusing to see him frantic.
Large blue eyes pleaded up at her as Gojo kneeled in front of the bed, his hands folded like prayer.
“Princess, please put my picture back! I changed mine back to you- please!”
Her finger tapped against the blush to her cheek, pretending to be lost in thought. This was pure torture as Gojo continued to beg at her feet.
“Hm. I’m not sure- I do have a picture of that adorable first year Haibara in there somewhere…” No, absolutely not, that was Satoru’s last straw. No way in hell would his beautiful girlfriend have a photo of that first year sorcerer always obsessed with impressing Suguru as her background- never ever! Gojo was already annoyed their peer favored his best friend over himself, but having his own girlfriend joke about giving them attention, fuck no.  Holding her phone above his head and out of her teasing reach, Satoru screeched,
“Ah! You’re going to replace me with a first year?! What?!”
Folding her arms in a crossed fashion against her chest, Y/n gave the hysterical teen a ‘told you so’ glare.
“Now you know how I felt.” She said matter-of-factly.
Satoru had to physically bite his tongue to keep the word ‘brat’ from tumbling past his lips. Yes, he used the term as one of endearment, but that was when the two were in their usual jovial mood- now was not the time and now. Gojo understood what she was hinting at, he got the message she was referring to their earlier argument and the various comments he had made towards the famous model, but that didn’t mean he agreed with her. In his mind, there was a clear difference between joking about having a crush on someone in the public eye and joking about having a crush on a fellow classmate.
“Well at least my background was a celebrity that I have no real chance with. If you asked that first year out he’d probably say yes on the spot then pass out- and Suguru would say yes just to spite me!” His voice was teetering a cry as he threw his head against the bed.
“I would never actually ask them out, Satoru. In case you haven’t noticed, I love you. Why do you think I was so upset about all those things you said before you and Suguru left? You basically admitted I’m not your dream girl but some famous, perfectly perfect model, who I look nothing like, is. Then you went on about how lucky I should feel being with you, as if I’m not already insecure about our relationship.” Gojo’s heart sunk at her words, regret filling his insides. “It hurt my feelings, Satoru.”
“I’m sorry, princess… I really am. I never meant to hurt you, I guess I thought I was being funny but… it’s really not true.” For the first time in maybe ever, Satoru’s tone sounded different. His voice no longer held that casual cockiness and confidence it usually oozed, no, he sounded timid… possibly the most serious he’s ever sounded in his life. The man who played life like it was the board game itself now stood before the woman he loved looking scared. Y/n’s face scrunched in question, slightly taken aback by the sincerity he expressed.
“What’s not true?”
“What I said about Inoue Waka, she’s not my dream girl, you are.” Satoru stated. He needed Y/n to see the truth to his words, to believe she was the only girl for him, because she was. As fun as it was to tease his girlfriend, it was only amusing when she was in on the joke. The last thing he wanted was to hurt her. Satoru could see now how truly uncomfortable she was with his comments and it made him feel like a piece of shit knowing he planted a seed of insecurity in her mind.
It was almost as if Gojo could see the shield Y/n placed around herself, around her heart. She was a hard one to crack, but getting to be the soul she finally let inside meant the entire word to Satoru and he had no intention of breaking that trust ever again.
“And I’m the one who’s so fucking lucky to get to call you mine. You’re everything I could ever ask for in a girlfriend and more. You put up with me and you’re the only person who ever laughs at my jokes- and you know all my favorite snacks and treats… you even know all the things I’m scared of, which losing you is at the top of my list. I’m sorry that I ever made you doubt us, or made you feel insecure… I really am sorry, Y/n.”
The room turned quiet as Gojo’s confession hung in the air. Y/n didn’t speak, she wouldn’t even move. Instead, her eyes planted on the blanket in her lap, mindlessly losing herself in the pattern while her mind raced, replaying his words over and over again. Gojo examined her odd behavior, part of him perplexed at her lack of response. Y/n had a response for everything, for every situation. For the first time in their two year relationship Gojo was witnessing her in a speechless state, and for as much as he joked about her bratness and stubborn ways, he hated not hearing her voice. A minute passed until Satoru decided he had enough of missing her sound. As he opened his mouth, about to ask if she was okay, a shout sounded from her throat.
“Ugh! I hate when you do that!” Y/n cried out. There was a thin row of salty tears teetering her waterline. Dread filled Gojo at the sight. He never meant to make her cry. Standing to his feet Satoru sat himself next to her on the bed, his hands reaching out to grasp her own in trepidation. His thumb drew anxious circles across her skin, a method he’d learned that usual calmed her down, yet her tears steadily fell.
“W-What? Do what?” He asked in a wavering voice. With her free hand, Y/n harshly rubbed at her eyes, wiping the tears that continued to roll down her reddening cheeks. A few splashed against his hand that clutched hers, but he didn’t care. A scarlet ring formed around her e/c eyes as she glanced up to Satoru, a mix of agitation and sadness filling her.
“When you’re all sweet and say things that make my insides feel like they’re all mushy and- ugh, I hate how much I love you. It’s so annoying!” She cried out.
A wave of solace splash his bay at her words, along with the returning embrace as her hand squeezed his. He let out a sigh of relief, grateful his words had caused good tears this time. Bringing her hand up to his face, Gojo danced a trail of kisses along her knuckles and smiled. Still holding her hand, Satoru lightly urged the girl to lay back on the mattress and he climbed in next to her. Her head rested softly against the pillow, Gojo’s arm encircling her waist as he turned her body to face his. Once he could see her beautiful face, he let his hand wrap under her chin with a feather light grip.
“I happen to love how much you love me, pretty girl.”
His lips pressed a sweet kiss to her temple, then placed another to her forehead, then lastly a chaste and loving kiss to her lips. Y/n nuzzled her head against his touch, the shakiness to her breathing beginning to slow. Gojo removed his hand from her chin as he felt her wiggling closer until her head was laid up on his chest. The sound of his heart beat echoed in her ear and she cuddled into his warmth. A comfortable blanket of peace took control of the room as the couple enjoyed the feeling of holding one another. Satoru’s hand ran up and down her back in an act of comfort. His touch always made her feel more at ease. The moment of tranquility lasted a good portion until Y/n briefly pulled herself away from Gojo, an unfamiliar gleam to her gaze. Satoru tilted his head, unfamiliar to the unusual look, when Y/n lifted her hand to stroke the side of his cheek, as she spoke in a mask of sweetness,
“I swear Satoru, if you ever set Inoue Waka as your homescreen again, I’ll murder you then chop your body up and dump it in the ocean.” One might expect a rational response to such a threat would be fear, not Satoru Gojo. A cheesy grin broke out as his hold tightened around her body, pulling her closer to him.
“I know you will, princess, and that’s why I love you… even if you are a brat at times.”
Her hand smacked against her arm, faking a pout while snuggling further in.
“Shut up, you love me because I’m a brat.” She remarked. They both knew it was true. Satoru could feign annoyance over her attitude, he could pretend she was too ‘difficult’ for him, but in all honesty, bratty was exactly the way Satoru loved her.
“You know me too well.”

uhhh thinkin about how mizu and taigen's relationship was described as "this meeting of the minds, this meeting of the swords, that they could not share with anybody else" in one of the netflix articles about the show
and i'm going crazy because YEAH they're both equally invested about swords and fighting in a way that nobody else in their lives are. and that's just. so important considering we're talking about mizu, who sees her sword as her own soul.
and it's not JUST mizu who's obsessed with fighting. taigen is too. cuz like after their duel at the shindo dojo, as taigen is examining his bald spot in the mirror where mizu cut off his hair, he literally interrupts his own turmoil over losing his honour, just to express his awe, openly admiring mizu's skill DESPITE the fact that mizu just beat his ass and stripped his honour and status from him
Tumblr media Tumblr media
then in the next episode, mizu says a very similar line when she examines the cut flower that fowler had pinned to heiji shindo's robe.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
this was also such a sudden thing to notice in the middle of their conversation (my interpretation of this is that it hints to fowler's own skills with a blade, and gives mizu information about her enemy being a formidable opponent), but the fact that mizu had such a keen eye and managed to hone in on such a tiny detail from like a foot or two away is interesting because it shows us just how attentive mizu is, especially when it comes to blades and anything to do with them
to mizu (when she's not spiralling and agonising over her own self-hatred and the way the world treats her), swords are not a mere tool for revenge, but an art form which she is fascinated by and loves and admires. we see this from time to time, during rare moments of respite, like when she admires the duel in the beginning of ep4
Tumblr media Tumblr media
mizu also takes to heart all the teachings from her years training, while taigen is interestingly less strict about them, basically disregarding some of those teachings as mere pedantry, or even if he doesn't actually really think so, he at least tells mizu as much in his attempt to comfort her after her sword breaks
Tumblr media Tumblr media
but that doesn't mean he doesn't care for the more formal aspects of his training at all. because in ep3 when he says this
Tumblr media Tumblr media
this line about mount sumeru is not talking about the literal mountain in front of them, but is a recitation of a line from the lotus sutra, which is among the mahayana sutras that they learned as part of their spiritual training, as zen buddhism forms a lot of the basis for samurai doctrines and philosophy. the sutra given more emphasis in the show is the heart sutra that mizu writes on her body in ep7 during her rite of rebirth
so taigen saying this line, as i see it, is a way to bond with mizu, or at least make conversation over their shared knowledge, as we see him await a reaction as soon as he says this. but mizu gives him none, and he looks disappointed/annoyed/frustrated or what have you as he watches her walk off without a word
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
also we see a little more of their shared knowledge of swordsmanship in the last episode when it's clear that mizu has been training ringo in sword fighting techniques
Tumblr media Tumblr media
and later taigen recognises it instantly
Tumblr media Tumblr media
they're both nerds about swords and fighting!!! they both respect each other's skills!!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
GOD i really hope in future episodes they get to bond some more over their shared passion and common training and just samurai camaraderie in general!!! mizu clearly loves the artistry of sword fighting so much, she deserves to have a confidant who shares that with her, someone she can talk openly about these things to!!!
because like remember when mikio was telling her about the naginata, she looked soooo uwu in love!!! admiring her husband as he showed off the weapon and told her the benefits of using it!!! believing at the time that she'd found a match who she could openly share her love of martial arts with!! she was having so much fun sparring him too. everyone says fighting is part of her love language and YES it IS!!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
except the difference is that mikio—due to, among other things, their large age difference and subsequent gap in life experience—believes he is mizu's teacher, rather than her equal. this is the role he's readily taken throughout their marriage, from teaching her how to throw a knife to cut down fruit (not like she needed that particular lesson), to teaching her equestrian skills.
meanwhile taigen and mizu were both kids growing up poor in the same backwater fishing village, which means that they are and always have been PEERS. and this becomes even more pronounced once taigen is stripped of his giant ego and unlearns his prejudice, allowing them both to fully respect each other and view each other as equals
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
which is again why it frustrates taigen when mizu admits later in this scene that she basically doesn't care about saving the shogun. like he gets mad because it upends his initial belief in their shared goals and aligned values, believing them both to be samurai of equal standing and honour.
ALSO i'd like to add, that though mizu is the better swordsman as we see her win all their brawls and matches, she doesn't surpass him by that much, and mizu knows this.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
these words coming from mizu is such a huge compliment all things considered, acknowledging that he was strong enough to deserve fighting her, because shortly before this mizu was just about to say "no one has given me much of a challenge" only for taigen to enter the scene and, well, challenge her.
now combine this with her saying that chiaki's broken blade suits him well, giving to him HER sword which SHE made AND won, as a surety, promising him a duel that he "deserves". it's proof that even though she finds taigen an annoying brat and oftentimes an obstacle to her mission for revenge, she DOES respect him and does value his skills.
IN CONCLUSION nobody else is on their level, nobody else shares their love of swordsmanship and that is such an important factor to their bond and the way they relate to each other. i rest my case your honour

YOU’RE SUPPOSED TO FIGHT ME NOT F*CK ME!
yan! school grass (most handsome/perfect guy)/rival x crossdresser! male! reader x yan! friends - part one
tw/cw: mention of abusive parents (but not reader’s) and yandere themes. also your rival has some repressed sexual urges, he really needs to get laid or some head or something-
just read migi and dali and gahd NOW I WANNA WRITE A WHOLE CROSSDRESS /GENDERBENDER BL NOVEL IM IN HORRID ROTTING
Like I imagine this the best with stoic and/or tsun yans the best. You know those types that want to be perfect but only feels perfect when they’re with reader.
ive always loved these tropes as a kid, from mulan to that one tawog episode where darwin fell in love with fem! gumball and like this was even before i knew i wasnt cis but gahd AAAAAAA
also inspired by @moyazaika ‘s rival work. go read it!!
but anyways have the fic, lowercase intentional for first part to differentiate povs.
it was a dare given by your friend group earlier last weekend. wear the girls uniform and a wig for the entire month. it was easy to get the materials necessary for the most part. your mother had several wigs and was more than happy to style her son in feminine clothing. she was just amazing and supportive about your whims like that.
it didn’t take long for you to realize that no one recognized you in your new look.
the day started like many of your other ones at the school, you’d race your rival as the first one in class and whoever wins gets rights to a smug look on their face until the next thing you guys eventually compete on.
but unlike the crestfallen expression you expected — nay wanted — from that stupid pretty boy, you were greeted by what you could only described as complete bafflement.
“what?” despite having a different reaction from what you imagined, you managed to keep a composed appearance. “cat got your tongue?”
“ah. . .”
and that were the only words he said to you the entire day. nothing else. not a single groan of anger whenever you answered everything correctly, he didn’t even attempt at stopping you mid-way or disagree with you answer simply because he wanted to annoy you.
and so you couldn’t help it, as soon as the bell rang signalling lunch time you swiftly turned around to face him.
“are you alright?”
you inquired. not at all worried about his well-being at the slightest. you hated him with all your being after all and you didn’t make an effort to be soft with your tone either.
“h-huh?” he looked dazed. like his head had been in the clouds and you just yanked him down to ground.
your rival never got distracted.
“you—“ you reached out about to smack his face to keep him in check.
“if you’ll excuse me!” he smacked your hand out of the way, screeched at you, and then left in a hurry to who knows where.
nevermind that was definitely him. that silly brat hated it whenever you touched him. he must have just been having issues at home again or something.
Haoyu was trembling — shaking uncontrollably as his breaths turned more shallow by the second. His heart was pumping blood in places of his body where it shouldn’t have been in the middle of school hours. Sweat lined his entire skin and it didn’t help how the bathroom he rushed into had nothing to keep the temperature down.
Who were you?
You sat at his rival’s seat. That nasty kid that always got in his nerves. No one questioned the boy’s absence and he would have asked the teachers on what had happened if you didn’t suddenly take his breath away.
You were, ethereal. Otherworldy even. When he first saw you he was taken away by the way your hair moved in the wind (if only he knew . . .).
Still, he was far too distracted by [Y/N]’s absence to properly let the feeling simmer.
Then, all that went away when you reeled in his mind back at you again at class. You were incredible, capable, intelligent, and oh so perfect. But unlike that stupid child that usually sat in front of him, he did not feel an ounce of envy at all.
If only who could see your eyes as you spoke; the tone of your voice conveyed so much passion that he wanted to see in those beautiful (e/c) orbs.
And his prayers were granted by none other than the goddess that is you,
“Are you alright?”
Your voice? Oh your voice! Haoyu’s heard it already of course, but each new time you spoke it was like a whole new melody, a new piece that immediately turned into his favorite.
His mind was too fried with these thoughts, thoughts that his parents would no doubt beat out of him if they found out.
His feels the parts down there suddenly move. He wasn’t completely unfamiliar with the phenomenon. He wasn’t without his hormones after all. But this was the first time it ever reacted that way so strongly, like if he didn’t give it attention himself it’d explode.
“Mmph…”
And for the time in his entire life, Haoyu does something he knew his parents would definitely be disappointed if not livid about. A hand on his mouth, and another in his school uniform’s pants.
lunch time.
you usually spent those studying or preparing for the next class as hanging out with your friends always ended with you being too distracted to do schoolwork but today you had to show up with ‘proof’ that you went through with their dare.
“yiran ? yichen ?”
no response.
you sighed. as usual, the twins were late. what did you expect? those two would be caught dead before they could be early much less found in the library.
and so you spent the entire time reading,
unaware of the crowd that formed around you while you were busy studying.

Why I feel like Ka/taang is one-sided, despite textual evidence
ATLA does try to convince us that Katara has romantic feelings for Aang. For example: she seems thoughtful when she realizes that Aang is a powerful bender; she’s offended that he didn’t want to kiss her in the Cave of Two Lovers; she gets jealous when Sokka says On Ji and Aang look good together.
So…what’s wrong with anti-Kataangers? Do we just lack media comprehension?
To be clear, on their own, these gestures can indicate romantic interest. But at the same time, we have stuff like “Aang is a sweet little guy, like Momo.” We have her ambivalent facial expression after he kisses her before the eclipse, and her hedging during Ember Island Players, and her anger when he kisses her anyway. In the context of these conflicting cues, Katara’s possibly romantic reactions can absolutely be interpreted in a different way, because:
Acknowledging a friend as a potential romantic interest is not the same as actually being romantically interested in them. (Imo this is something young women struggle with, due to a combination of romance-centrism and heteronormativity that make women feel like they should be in romantic relationships, and that boys and girls who share intimate and deep feelings for one another must be romantically into each other)
Wanting someone to find you desirable is not the same as desiring that person. (Which is something a lot of women, especially young women, struggle with. Remember all the discourse around Cat Person back in 2017?)
Being jealous when someone flirts with your friend is not the same as wanting to be with your friend. (Especially when you see your friends as family, or if you’re accustomed to a specific type of devotion from that friend. It is jealousy, and it is possessiveness, but it doesn’t always arise from romantic feelings)
Growing up in a patriarchal society means that your desires are always filtered through what men want from you, sometimes in an abstract male gaze-y way, and sometimes in a very visceral and interpersonal way when a boy wants you specifically. And Katara’s reactions are just that — reactions. Reactions to what other people — including Aunt Wu, Sokka, Aang himself — have insinuated about her and Aang. She’s not really proactive in her interest in Aang: we don’t really see Aang, romantically, from Katara’s POV. Under the framework of “Katara is reacting to a romantic prospect she’s kind of uncertain about,” it is completely plausible — and indeed likely — that she would sometimes act in ways that indicate romantic interest, in addition to moments where she indicates the opposite.
Ka/taang shippers often bring up other evidence, like Katara’s despair when Azula hits Aang with lightning, or how protective she is of him when Zuko joins the Gaang. The thing is, these pieces of evidence aren’t necessarily indicative of romantic love. The fact that Katara genuinely loves Aang makes the whole thing more complicated, not less, because — especially at that age, especially when Aang is twelve years old and grew up in a sex-segregated society of monks — it is really difficult to tell the difference between platonic love and romantic love. Their mutual devotion is layered and complex yet straightforward in its sincerity. What was not straightforward, until the last five minutes of the show, is whether this devotion on Katara’s end is romantic. The romantic arc for Katara and Aang is not really an arc, as Sneezy discusses in this classic ZK video. Katara actually becomes more conflicted over time and we never see an event that clarifies her feelings. She seems more interested in him in The Headband than on the Day of the Black Sun, and she has never been more hostile to his romantic overtures than in the penultimate episode.
And in light of this, it’s pretty easy for fans to fill in the blanks with a different interpretation: maybe Katara’s weird expression after their kiss at the invasion means she didn’t enjoy it; maybe the kiss made her realize that she doesn’t actually feel that way about Aang; maybe against her will and her better judgement, she’s developing feelings for another person, a person who hurt her and whom she fervently tried to hate until he pulled off what is in my opinion the greatest grovel of all time in the form of a life-changing field trip. Maybe. Am I saying that Zutara has more romantic interactions than Ka/taang? Of course not. But ironically, the lack of romantic interactions means that it’s not inherently one-sided, the way Ka/taang became in the latter half of season 3.
I’m not arguing that Katara’s unequivocally not into Aang. Obviously the text declares that she is, because they get married and have kids. But I am saying that there’s a very good reason that so many people, especially women, see Katara’s interest in Aang as ambiguous. It’s not because we can’t pick up “subtle” hints of growing affection. It’s because we know not all affection is romantic, and it’s really easy for someone else’s insistent romantic intentions to muddle what you want.
P.S. I first started thinking about these topics (platonic vs romantic love, desiring someone vs wanting to be desired, etc) in the context of compulsory heterosexuality, a term describing how queer women contort themselves into relationships with men even if they’re not really into men. I saw a post a few days ago joking about why so many queer women seem to be into Zutara. I wonder if part of the reason is because as queer women, we are very sensitive to the ways in which we can talk ourselves into wanting things we don’t actually want, and Katara’s romantic interest in Aang can be easily seen that way.

Once the laughter had finally calmed down, PD Na shifted his attention to the next member with an air of anticipation, "Where's Hoshi?"
[Next]
Hoshi, ever the enthusiastic one, quickly raised his hand with a bright smile. The two exchanged a warm greeting, familiar with each other from the ‘HYBE’ Special last year.
[#5 HOSHI]
"All fans in Korea approved CARAT for the hardest cheer," PD Na began, his tone light but with a hint of seriousness. "You created a five-second cheer?"
[It was 2017]
[That is a painful cheer to say all 14 names in 5 seconds]
Hoshi grinned, tilting his head to the side as he explained, "There's a bridge. I added the members' real names there. It goes 'Seungchul, Jeonghan, Jisoo, Junhui, Soonyoung,' and so on. I'm not good at it either."
The room erupted into laughter, the image of Hoshi struggling with his own creation was too amusing for the members to handle.
"That's irresponsible," PD Na teased, shaking his head with mock disappointment. "To do that, some CARATs lost their voices. Some went to the mountains to practice. Some CARATs say they'll practice it and join ‘Show Me the Money’. You shouldn't ignore it after making it."
This comment had everyone howling with laughter. The thought of fans taking such extreme measures just to perfect the chant was both hilarious and endearing.
Hoshi, unable to hold back his laughter, added, "I listen to it on stage. 'It's very nice of them.'"
The absurdity of his casual comment made the members laugh even harder.
"After making them do it?" Seungkwan asked, his tone incredulous but playful as if he couldn’t believe Hoshi's nonchalance.
"You're grateful, but…" PD Na trailed off, leaving the unsaid criticism hanging in the air.
"That's not my job. I have to dance on stage," Hoshi defended himself, shrugging as if to say his responsibilities ended with choreography.
"Send them a message," PD Na suggested, gesturing toward the camera.
Hoshi turned to face the camera, a wide, sincere smile on his face. "Dear CARAT, I'm saying hello on ‘The Game Caterers’. I'm always grateful. I love you," he said, his voice filled with genuine affection. The members giggled amongst themselves, entertained by how quickly Hoshi could switch from playful to sincere.
"Did you make one for 'Super'?" PD Na asked, steering the conversation forward.
"I made one for 'Super'," Hoshi confirmed with a nod, his expression brightening at the mention of the song.
"Did you?" PD Na asked, seeking confirmation.
"Yes," Hoshi replied, his tone unwavering.
"Can you show me?" PD Na prompted, his curiosity piqued.
"It's the same," Hoshi laughed, before launching into the cheer, "Seungchul, Jeonghan, Jisoo, Junhui, Soonyoung… There's no change in members. So it's the same."
"It's still fourteen," Seungkwan pointed out, his voice tinged with both amusement and pride.
[On the other side]
As Hoshi finished demonstrating the cheer, a few members couldn't resist trying it out themselves, their voices low as they muttered under their breath. Vernon, Jun, and Luna were the most engrossed, each attempting to get the sequence of names just right in five seconds.
Luna, in particular, was concentrating hard, her gaze on the floor, her brows furrowed in determination as she softly repeated the chant over and over. “Seungchul, Jeonghan, Jisoo, Junhui, Soonyoung, Wonwoo, Jihoon?” She paused, realizing she had messed up, before trying again, “Seungchul, Jeonghan, Jisoo, Junhui, Soonyoung, Wonwoo, Jisoo?… Jisoo again,” she muttered to herself, frustration creeping into her voice.
[Understanding how CARAT feels]
Jeonghan, who was sitting next to her, had been watching her with a soft grin on his face, his long black hair falling gently over his eyes. He couldn’t help but find her determination endearing, the way her nose scrunched up in frustration making him smile even more. His gaze never wavered from her, his fondness for her evident in the way he looked at her.
“Try it again, you can do it again,” Jeonghan urged her softly, his voice encouraging but gentle, wanting her to succeed.
[Attempt 100]
Luna nodded, her focus sharpening as she gave it another go. “Seungchul, Jeonghan, Jisoo, Junhui, Soonyoung, Wonwoo, Jihoon, Myungho, Jiyeon, Mingyu, Seokmin, Seungkwan, Hansol, Chan.”
[After several attempts]
[She did it]
This time, she nailed it, and a huge smile spread across her face as she finally looked up at Jeonghan. He hadn’t looked away once, his expression proud and warm. Seeing her joy, his own smile widened, his eyes crinkling at the corners.
“Yay,” Luna said with a soft chuckle, the relief and happiness clear in her voice.
[Bunny no. 1 is proud of herself]
“Good job,” Jeonghan replied, his voice still soft, filled with genuine warmth and pride for her accomplishment.
[Bunny no. 2 is proud of her too]
The small moment between them didn’t go unnoticed by the others.
PD Na scanned the room before settling his gaze on Wonwoo. “Where’s Wonwoo?” he asked.
Wonwoo raised his hand and gave a slight bow.
[#6 WONWOO]
PD Na smiled, acknowledging him. “We didn’t meet last time. Nice to meet you.”
[First time meeting Producer Na]
“Nice to meet you too,” Wonwoo replied politely, his voice calm.
PD Na continued, “You’re so good-looking, not that I mean the rest aren’t. You’re tall, good-looking, and big.” His tone was half-joking but sincere. “In fact, I heard you were in a photoshoot recently. The theme was your shoulders? I heard you have nice shoulders.”
[Compliments]
Wonwoo chuckled softly before explaining, “I had a photoshoot about a year ago. The whole theme was about the body, and I was in charge of the shoulders, so I took photos focusing on them.”
Hoshi, ever the supportive member, chimed in, “He has broad shoulders.”
“They do look nice,” Dokyeom added, nodding in agreement.
Dino, who was sitting near Wonwoo, turned toward him and said with a mischievous grin, “You should show him.”
“Show him,” Mingyu echoed, clearly enjoying where this was going.
Wonwoo looked around, slightly confused but amused. “How?” he asked, letting out a timid chuckle as he tried to figure out what they wanted from him.
Without hesitation, Seungkwan and Minghao reached over and began to remove each side of Wonwoo’s denim jacket, one side at a time, leaving him sitting there, caught off guard but laughing along with everyone else.
“Take your shirt off,” Dokyeom suggested, his tone half-serious, half-joking.
[None of their business]
Luna, who had been watching the antics, turned in her seat to face Wonwoo and gently patted his knee. “What are you guys doing to Wonwoo?” she teased, her eyes sparkling with amusement.
Seungkwan, always quick with a response, said, “His videos are always the most popular. Hurry up.”
“‘Most popular,’” Dokyeom laughed, echoing Seungkwan’s words.
PD Na stood up from his place on the floor, a mischievous smile on his face as he walked toward Wonwoo with a tape measure in hand. “A lot of CARATs are curious,” he said, causing a ripple of excitement to spread through the room.
[Wonwoo has broad shoulders]
[We decided to measure it and see]
As PD Na carefully measured Wonwoo's shoulders, the members’ voices overlapped in a chorus of comments about Wonwoo's impressive physique.
“They’re broad from the bones.”
“His shoulder bones are wide.”
“He was born with it.”
“They’re so broad.”
“They’re thin and wide.”
“It’s pretty because it’s sharp.”
“I want to be like him.”
“That’s nice. Thin and wide.”
Wonwoo sat there patiently, his expression calm as always. “I’m not sure if I have wide shoulders,” he said humbly. “I’ve never measured them before.”
“Fifty-eight centimeters,” PD Na concluded, nodding in approval before turning to the next target. “I think Mingyu has broader shoulders.”
Mingyu straightened up, ready for his turn, as PD Na headed toward him. The atmosphere was charged with anticipation as PD Na began measuring Mingyu’s shoulders.
[Suddenly measuring Mingyu's shoulders]
A few seconds later, PD Na broke the silence with a small smile. “Not quite,” he said.
[Shocking]
The members burst into laughter as Mingyu looked around, a mock expression of disbelief on his face as if it were a great disappointment to not have the broadest shoulders.
“Even with a jacket on, his shoulders are fifty centimeters,” PD Na said, amused.
“It's fifty centimeters?” Mingyu asked, his voice tinged with shock.
“Fifty-one,” Luna teased with a smirk.
“Fifty-two” Jeonghan followed, chuckling at the playful banter.
[The twin bunny telepathy]
Mingyu looked back at PD Na, still appalled. “I’m eight centimeters shorter?” he asked, which only made everyone laugh harder.
Woozi interjected with a grin, “Mingyu eats like eight chickens a day.”
“He’s eating away all the chickens,” S.Coups added, shaking his head in mock disapproval.
[What did he eat all those chicken breast for?]
But Mingyu wasn’t done yet. He stood up from his seat, determined to set the record straight. He removed his jacket, standing straighter than ever as PD Na measured him again.
[Remeasure]
“His pride is hurt,” Luna observed with a laugh, turning to the writers in front of her. “He needed to get remeasured.”
"Mingyu has a nice body." PD Na complimented him. "Widen your chest."
[Showing off]
"It's wide." Minghao exclaimed.
Mingyu’s determination paid off as PD Na remeasured him, announcing, “Oh! Fifty-seven centimeters.”
A relieved smile spread across Mingyu’s face as he quickly threw his jacket back on and sat down next to Luna. “I was almost disappointed,” he admitted. “It wasn’t even my question, but it would’ve embarrassed me.”
Luna turned to him, a teasing glint in her eyes. “What's embarrassing is how much it affected you,” she said, her voice laced with amusement.
Mingyu turned to her in shock, his mouth agape, which only made Luna laugh harder. Before he could reply, Dino seized the moment to tease him further.
“Wonwoo just sat there quietly,” Dino pointed out, mimicking how Wonwoo had sat nonchalantly and normally before exaggerating how Mingyu had broadened his shoulders. "But you broadened your shoulders."
The members burst out laughing again, and before Mingyu could defend himself, Jeonghan jumped in. “If I raised my shoulders, my shoulders would've gotten three centimeters wider,” he said, mimicking Mingyu’s exaggerated movements.
Mingyu was left speechless, looking around the room in disbelief. “Was the question for me?” he asked, which only made the room erupt in laughter once more.
[It was for Wonwoo]
“You acted like it was,” Luna shot back, a shit-eating grin on her face as she side-eyed Mingyu, clearly enjoying the chaos she’d stirred.
After a brief pause, Mingyu wrapped his arm around Luna’s neck, pulling her close and squishing her cheeks playfully. Luna shrieked, the high-pitched sound filling the room and making everyone laugh even harder.
“Stop!” Luna squealed, trying to push him away. “My hair, Gyu!”
Mingyu finally released her, laughing along with everyone else as he helped Luna fix her hair, her face flushed from the playful teasing.
PD Na moved on to the next member, a playful glint in his eye. “Woozi,” he called out.
Woozi raised his hand and bowed slightly, his usual calm demeanor firmly in place.
[#7 WOOZI]
“Woozi, I heard you’re a homebody. You never leave home. Is that true?” PD Na asked, leaning forward with curiosity.
Before Woozi could even respond, the room erupted in a chorus of agreement.
“He never leaves.”
“He never leaves.”
“He’s always at home.”
“Work, home, or gym— that’s it.”
Woozi nodded in agreement, not bothering to refute the claims. His expression remained neutral as if this was something he’d heard a thousand times before.
[The reason for his fair skin]
PD Na grinned. “Well, we have something to celebrate today. You were found outside of your house after five years!”
The members cheered, clapping and laughing at the rare occasion.
S.Coups joined in, nodding. “Someone saw him.”
[Live trend: the sight of Woozi outside]
“Where?” Seungkwan asked, turning to their leader with wide eyes.
“In Apgujeong,” S.Coups answered with a knowing nod.
“S.Coups knows everything,” Seungkwan said, pointing at him.
“Did you look it up?” PD Na asked, his chuckle echoing in the room.
S.Coups simply nodded.
[He'd know since it was on live trend list]
“Where in Apgujeong?” Seungkwan asked again, curiosity piqued.
“In Apgujeong…” S.Coups began, but before he could finish, Wonwoo interjected.
“In front of the gym?” Wonwoo guessed.
S.Coups shook his head. “No, it wasn’t the gym.” He pointed at Seungkwan, a playful glint in his eye. “You know the café? Right under…” He mentioned the café’s name, and the members instantly voiced their agreement, recognizing the place.
Woozi finally spoke up, his tone calm and matter-of-fact. “That was for work.”
[It wasn't for his own]
“CARATs saw him in the cafe,” S.Coups said, unable to resist.
Woozi sighed lightly. “I haven’t been to Apgujeong lately. Before, our studio was in Apgujeong. I used to go there often, but not anymore. I don’t even go to Apgujeong now.”
PD Na followed up with another question, his curiosity clearly piqued. “Then what were you doing in there?”
Woozi shook his head slightly as if the answer was obvious. “It was for work. I never went there for myself.”
“Do you even remember going out except for work?” PD Na asked, raising an eyebrow.
S.Coups leaned forward, ready to answer for him. “When we had a get-together.”
[SEVENTEEN's April Meeting, #Woozi’s Outing]
Woozi nodded in agreement, “Except for that, I didn’t go anywhere.”
Seungkwan chimed in, adding more context. “It’s gotten to the point where if we go abroad, we have about two days to go out or rest before the performance. But for two whole days, he never left his hotel room. We had to check if he was alive.”
[They had to force the door open]
The members burst into laughter, nodding in agreement with Seungkwan’s observation. Woozi chuckled shyly, the corners of his lips twitching up.
PD Na looked at Woozi with amusement. “Why do you do that? Is there a reason you don’t want to go out?”
“I’m too lazy,” Woozi admitted, his voice deadpan, which only made his members chuckle more.
[Things he do: Write lyrics, compose, arrange, produce songs, sing, dance, selfie]
“It’s pretty serious,” Seungkwan snickered, shaking his head.
Woozi shrugged, his expression unbothered. “I tend to avoid anything that consumes my energy. So I just stay still.”
“Are you like Jeonghan?” PD Na asked, glancing over at the member known for his laid-back personality.
Luna shook her head, knowing the difference between the two. “Hannie oppa needs to go out when we’re abroad,” she pointed out, gesturing to Jeonghan who lazily nodded, his eyes droopy and accompanied by a lazy smirk, a common look for him.
“He goes around busily,” Mingyu added, backing up Luna’s statement.
Wonwoo pointed at Jeonghan fromte back row, chuckling. “He's… When he goes abroad, he travels around the most.”
“When he’s abroad, he must go out,” Hoshi agreed a fond smile on his face.
[They have a lot to say]
Seungkwan couldn’t resist mimicking Jeonghan during their trips, his expression and tone spot-on. “He’s like, ‘Let’s go, let’s go.’ Then thirty minutes later…” Seungkwan’s expression shifted to one of sudden fatigue as he mimicked Jeonghan tiredly demanding, “'Let’s go.'”
Luna chuckled at the resemblance, nodding in agreement. “You’re right.”
Jeonghan, feeling the need to defend himself, gestured with his hands as he explained, “I get drained fast from walking around a lot. Woozi never goes out.”
“He knows he’d run out of energy fast, so he saves his energy,” PD Na said, referring to Woozi with a knowing smile.
“That’s right,” Woozi confirmed, unbothered by the analysis of his habits.
“Okay,” PD Na nodded, wrapping up Woozi’s interview with a satisfied grin before moving on to the next member, eager to uncover more of SEVENTEEN’s unique dynamics.
PD Na glanced at his notes and then looked up, calling out, “The8. Where are you?”
Minghao raised his hands slightly, making his presence known with a gentle wave. His calm demeanor caught the attention of everyone, and the members turned to look at him as PD Na addressed him.
[#8 THE8]
“You injured your shoulders? How?” PD Na asked, concern evident in his tone.
“This?” Minghao said, gesturing to his injured shoulder. “I fell while working out.” His expression was casual as if it was no big deal.
“Did someone push you or anything?” PD Na inquired, leaning forward slightly.
Minghao shook his head, a small smile playing on his lips. “Never. I did it to myself. I was careless.”
“What’s there to be careless about while working out?” PD Na followed up, his curiosity piqued.
Minghao hesitated for a second, then replied with a lighthearted tone, “Well… you know.” His vague answer made PD Na burst into laughter, and the rest of the members joined in, amused by his nonchalant attitude.
[No more explanation]
“By the time this airs, I’ll be fine,” he added, reassuring everyone.
“Are you almost healed?” PD Na asked, glancing at Minghao’s shoulder again.
“Yes,” Minghao nodded, his voice steady and confident.
PD Na glanced at the paper in front of him, preparing for the next question. “It says here, after the HYBE Special last time, on your social media live show… you said you got along with me. In what sense did we get along?”
Minghao’s eyes softened as he thought back. “That day, you kept asking me to do something. You listened to me carefully,” he explained.
Luna, sitting in front, turned to look at Minghao with a warm smile on her face. She found his gentleness endearing. “You’re so cute, Hao,” she said, her voice teasing but affectionate.
“He’s sweet,” Wonwoo added, agreeing with Luna’s sentiment.
Minghao continued, his tone sincere, “I was touched. So I always wanted to work with you again.”
“What should we do?” PD Na asked, his curiosity growing.
Mingyu, always quick with a playful suggestion, proposed jokingly, “You should go for coffee with him.”
“You should have a meal with him,” Joshua added, smiling.
“Call him. Have coffee with him and Woozi in Apgujeong,” Mingyu suggested his grin widening.
Minghao turned to PD Na, his eyes earnest. “Do you want to?”
“It works for me,” PD Na nodded, chuckling. “That gives Woozi an excuse to leave home.”
“Sounds good to me,” Minghao nodded in agreement, his usual calm demeanor unwavering.
PD Na looked up from his notes, his eyes landing on Luna, the only female member of the group. “Luna,” he began, his tone warm and welcoming.
Luna responded with a bright smile and a respectful bow. “Yes, hello!”
[#9 LUNA]
“It’s our first time meeting as well,” PD Na noted, returning her smile. “Nice to meet you.”
“Nice to meet you too,” Luna replied, her voice soft and polite.
PD Na smiled at her, his gaze briefly flicking back to his notes before continuing, “I heard you’re also injured.”
Luna nodded, raising her right hand to show him. “Yes, I fractured my middle and ring finger.”
[Injury no. 2]
“Did you hurt yourself while working out as well?” PD Na asked, his eyebrows raised slightly in concern.
“No,” Luna shook her head, a small smile on her lips. “I was practicing and I slipped and landed on my hand.”
“That must have hurt,” PD Na remarked sympathetically.
“I’m okay now, though,” Luna reassured him, shaking her head as if to wave off everyone’s worries. “It’s healing well,” she added, wiggling her fingers slowly to prove her point.
“That’s good,” PD Na nodded, relieved. He then glanced back down at his paper, his expression shifting to one of mild surprise as he read his next note. “It says here that you are known to cause fights.”
The sudden statement caught everyone off guard. The members burst into laughter while Luna sat there, shocked and confused, unsure of how to respond.
[Shocked bunny]
“Me?” she asked, pointing to herself, her voice tinged with disbelief. “Fights? Where did you hear that?” She laughed, still trying to process the unexpected accusation.
PD Na pointed at his paper, a teasing grin on his face. “We did our research. It says here that you caused a lot of fights when you were a trainee.”
A chorus of agreements erupted from the members, with many of them pointing at her and Jeonghan, nodding vigorously.
“That’s right!”
“He’s right!” they echoed, their voices overlapping as they teased her.
"This is amazing," Dokyeom laughed harder.
“What?” Luna turned to look at her members, her confusion deepening as she tried to piece together what they were talking about. "Huh? What are you guys talking about?"
[Someone help her]
Then her eyes landed on Jeonghan who was already watching her, and it all clicked. The realization dawned on her face, her expression shifting from confusion to understanding, and then to amusement. “Ah,” she laughed, finally catching on.
Jeonghan, always the instigator, just grinned back at her, his eyes twinkling with mischief.
As the memory clicked into place, Luna laughed harder, her laughter bubbling over as she covered her mouth with her hands. “This is amazing,” she marveled, still giggling. “How did you guys find out about that? I had completely forgotten about it.”
PD Na watched her with amusement, leaning forward slightly. “Can you tell us about it?” he asked, clearly intrigued.
Luna glanced at Jeonghan, who nodded in agreement, his smile knowing. She turned back to the group, preparing to recount the story. “It was when I was a trainee, and I was new at ‘PLEDIS’. This happened about five months after I joined,” Luna began, her hands moving animatedly as she spoke. “This one time, I just had the hardest day. The training was intense, I was sick at that time as well, and I remember stressing over my exams because I was still in school.”
Everyone listened carefully, their expressions a mix of curiosity and amusement. Her members, who knew the story well, giggled quietly, already anticipating where it was headed.
Luna continued, “I hadn’t eaten the entire day. I came to the practice room, and I had an apple. Then, one of the trainees came over, and he was teasing me.”
She paused, mimicking the boy’s actions by raising her hand as if holding something up high. “He took my apple, raised it up, and teased me to take it. He kept doing it and wouldn't give it to me up to the point that I just started crying,” Luna admitted, laughing at the memory of her younger, more vulnerable self.
[Protect her]
“Aww,” the members and producers chorused, a mixture of sympathy and amusement in their voices.
Luna pressed on, “Then, all of a sudden, Jeonghannie oppa came in.” She placed her hand on Jeonghan’s leg, and though he made no move, he continued listening to her, his smirk growing as he anticipated the end of the story. “He saw me crying, took one look at the apple, and then he went…”
Luna mimicked Jeonghan’s deep, angry voice and stern expression, saying, “‘Give it back'.”
The room exploded into shrieks. The members erupted in howls and laughter, some leaping out of their seats, while others covered their mouths in teasing disbelief. The laughter was contagious, filling the room. Luna and Jeonghan remained seated next to each other, smiling as the room buzzed with the chaotic energy of their shared memories.
[Pandemonium]
As the laughter in the room finally began to die down, Luna continued the story, still smiling. “The trainee still wouldn’t give it back and thought Hannie oppa was joking with him,” she said, recalling the moment. “Then he went, ‘I said give it back,’ but the trainee just laughed at him. Oppa was one of the oldest, so it was a bit disrespectful…”
PD Na, fully invested in the story, leaned in slightly. “Then… what did he do?” he asked, his curiosity piqued.
Jeonghan, his voice calm and deep, answered this time, his eyes still carrying that signature droopy look as he smirked lazily. “I cursed him out.”
[Proud]
The casual delivery of his words contrasted with the intensity of the moment, making the members erupt into a chorus of teasing.
"Ooh, he cursed!"
"He really cursed him out!"
"He cursed!" they repeated, pointing at Jeonghan and laughing even harder.
Luna nodded, trying to keep a straight face, before wrapping up the story. "Then after that, we left, and he bought me food."
[Food is always the answer]
Before PD Na could reply, Seungkwan jumped in with a mischievous glint in his eyes. "There was also this one time. Maybe a year after that incident."
[Another one?]
PD Na raised his eyebrows, intrigued. "There's another one?"
Luna, confused, turned to look at Seungkwan, who was seated behind her. "What else is there?" she asked, genuinely puzzled.
"It happened a year before we debuted," Seungkwan leaned forward, his voice carrying a nostalgic tone. "Noona is beautiful. She's really beautiful. Even back then when she was younger, she hasn't changed at all. Not once. She looks the exact same. The only thing that changed is her height." He emphasized each word to PD Na, while Luna listened quietly, her members nodding in agreement.
"She was an extremely popular trainee," Seungkwan continued. "A lot of boys liked her."
With that, a chorus of agreements spilled from the mouths of the members. "That's true," Mingyu said, nodding along with the others.
"There was a time when two trainees were literally arguing about her because they both liked her, and they decided to talk to her about it and make her decide," Seungkwan added, glancing over at Luna with a grin.
[Love triangle drama]
"I remember this," S.Coups chuckled, his eyes lighting up with the memory.
Luna’s eyes widened as she finally recalled the story. "Oh, right! Once they saw me, they started arguing in front of me," she nodded, using her hands to illustrate the scene.
"Right. They were literally fighting in front of her," Seungkwan affirmed. "The members present tried to make them stop, but one thing led to another, and they both grabbed Luna by each hand," Seungkwan demonstrated the movement, grabbing Wonwoo’s arm to illustrate the point.
"Jeonghan… He was the angriest I've ever seen him in my life," Seungkwan said, raising his hand as if swearing to the truth.
Seungkwan then stood up, pulling Wonwoo to his feet to act out the scene. "Jeonghan went up to them and just…" He mimicked Jeonghan’s aggressive stance, facing Wonwoo head-on, his expression fierce.
"Jeonghan had really long hair back then, so it was swaying like this," Seungkwan added, shaking his head from side to side, imitating the way Jeonghan’s hair had moved during the confrontation. "'Let go,'" he said in a deep, angry voice, perfectly mimicking Jeonghan.
[Is this a drama?]
Another chorus of amused, teasing "Oohs" erupted from the members, while Luna sat laughing, her shoulders shaking with mirth.
S.Coups, still seated, shook his head with a grin. "I had to get him off. It was the first time I saw Jeonghan angry as well," he confessed, looking at Jeonghan with a mixture of admiration and amusement.
PD Na directed his attention to Jeonghan, raising an eyebrow with an amused smile. "It seems like you're involved in a lot of these stories."
[Fully charged Jeonghan is scary]
Before Jeonghan could respond, Dokyeom cut in with a knowing grin. "Jeonghan is the most protective of Luna."
Luna quickly interjected, shaking her head with a smile. "No, it’s because he was the first person I became friends with when I joined. He was the person I was most comfortable with."
Jeonghan finally spoke up, his tone nonchalant as if the answer was obvious. "How else am I supposed to react during that situation?"
Hoshi chimed in, nodding in agreement. "He’s cool."
"Very cool," Minghao said.
Seungkwan, ever the dramatic one, couldn’t resist adding his flair. "I swear it was like a drama," he said, his voice filled with exaggerated emotion. "It was like you could hear the song play… 'Almost Paradise'…'" He sang the familiar tune, sending the room into another round of laughter.
PD Na, still chuckling, looked back at Jeonghan and Luna. "It’s because she’s your best friend. You two are the closest."
Both Luna and Jeonghan nodded, confirming the bond they shared.
[Best bunny friends]
"She's like your younger sister," PD Na added thoughtfully.
Jeonghan, who had been nodding in agreement, suddenly faltered. "N– y–yes," he stuttered, quickly changing his answer.
The subtle exchange of looks between Jeonghan and Luna that followed didn’t go unnoticed. Jeonghan's eyes lingered on her for just a moment, while Luna remained composed, though there was a fleeting glint of something unspoken in her eyes. It was a small, almost imperceptible moment, but the hesitation in Jeonghan’s response added a strange tension to the room that only the members noticed and understood as if there was more to the story than they were letting on.
PD Na, oblivious to the undercurrent, chuckled again. "I never thought you would be the type of person to fight," he remarked to Jeonghan, amused by the contrast between his usual calm demeanor and the stories being told.
The room burst into laughter again, and in perfect sync, both Luna and Jeonghan replied, "You’d think."
[Twin bunny telepathy pt. 100]
PD Na, still smiling from the last exchange, nodded and said, "Alright," before shifting his attention to the next member. "Next is the energetic Mingyu. Long time no see," he greeted warmly, prompting Mingyu to bow deeply in return.
"Nice to see you again," Mingyu replied.
[#10 MINGYU]
"Mingyu with fifty-seven centimeters shoulders," PD Na added with a playful grin, making Mingyu scoff out a laugh.
"It's one centimeter shorter than Wonwoo," S.Coups teased, chuckling along with the others.
PD Na started with a mischievous glint in his eye, "Recently, you were seen at the soccer game on March 28— Korea versus Uruguay."
Mingyu nodded in confirmation, bracing himself for the direction of the conversation.
"Why did you go?" PD Na asked, feigning genuine curiosity, which caused the members to burst out laughing at the obviousness of the question.
[What?]
"Why did you go?" Luna echoed playfully, adding to the teasing.
Mingyu chuckled, shaking his head in mock disbelief. "To watch soccer."
"No," PD Na responded, shaking his head as if Mingyu had given the wrong answer, making the group laugh harder.
"A lot of people say that's not true. I heard you went to have a meal," PD Na continued, fueling the lighthearted banter.
Mingyu laughed, trying to explain, "My acquaintance told me that too. Someone posted that I had two corndogs."
"That's the issue," PD Na stated with mock seriousness.
"They have a problem with him eating?" Luna asked her tone genuinely upset but masked by her composed expression.
Mingyu tried to clarify, "Just to clarify—" but Dokyeom’s laughter cut through the air, amplifying the ridiculousness of the entire situation.
Joshua jumped in, grinning, "Did you have three?"
"I had one," Mingyu replied, holding up a finger as if to prove his point.
"No," PD Na shook his head again, still playing along.
"To clarify, one corndog, one shrimp skewer…" Mingyu trailed off.
"One sausage," Seungkwan added helpfully from behind him.
"Did you have a sausage too?" Mingyu asked, looking genuinely surprised.
"One long chicken skewer," Seungkwan reminded him, grinning.
"One chicken skewer," Mingyu repeated with a laugh, "one pizza."
Vernon, who had been quietly enjoying the banter, added, "You had a meal."
"I kept eating every twenty-five minutes," Mingyu admitted before turning to his members with a look of innocence, "Isn't that normal?"
[No]
Luna chuckled, shaking her head in amusement, "I don't know, but you can eat whatever you want."
Mingyu’s smile softened at her supportive comment, his fondness for Luna evident in his expression. "Thank you," he said, genuinely touched.
"I was there too. We were the only ones eating," Seungkwan chimed in, still smiling.
"It was really good. It was my first time there," Mingyu added, nodding as if to emphasize his point.
S.Coups, who had been enjoying the story from the sidelines, suddenly joined in. "I sent him the photo that people took. I told him," he said, pointing at Mingyu with a grin.
[They're acquaintances]
Mingyu’s eyes lit up in recognition, pointing back at S.Coups. "Right. He's right. ‘Did you go to watch a soccer game?’ In real-time."
Jun leaned forward, a mischievous grin on his face, and chimed in, "I got calls from my friends in China. ‘You guys eat so much,’ they said."
Mingyu’s eyes widened in shock. "You got calls from China?" he asked, clearly surprised by how far the news of his eating habits had spread.
[Mingyu's eating show spread to China]
"What you’re saying sounds like a curse, yet a compliment," Mingyu continued, shaking his head in disbelief. "Even people in China know."
"That’s how popular you are," Jeonghan said with a reassuring smile.
[Kim Influence is going global]
"Thanks," Mingyu replied, still processing the absurdity of the situation but appreciating the humor.
PD Na, ever the entertainer, jumped in. "You should explain it to CARATs because they’re worried that you didn’t eat that much that day."
Luna, who had been following the conversation intently, suddenly realized the true concern behind the question. "Ah, they are worried," she said, nodding in understanding.
Mingyu turned to face the camera, adopting a mock-serious expression as he addressed CARATs. "Though it was said that I only had two corndogs, I had a lot of other stuff. You don’t need to worry. I’ll continue to eat a lot."
"It’s nice to eat a lot," Minghao added, his simple but profound comment making them all chuckle before the conversation moved on.
PD Na, ever the director of smooth transitions, glanced down at his notes and then back up at the members. “Where’s DK?” he asked, his eyes scanning the room.
Dokyeom immediately raised both his hands with an infectious smile, “Hello!” he greeted cheerfully, bowing his head slightly in respect.
[#11 DK]
“I looked it up, and there are many nice stories about you,” PD Na began, making the members around the room go, “Oohh,” with teasing enthusiasm.
[Nice stories poured out]
“Let’s hear them,” S.Coups said, leaning forward with genuine interest.
PD Na looked surprised as he asked, “You didn’t know?”
“Let me hear them first,” S.Coups responded, his curiosity piqued.
“You didn’t look up DK?” PD Na asked in disbelief, a grin forming on his face as Dokyeom laughed at the playful jab.
S.Coups pointed at Dokyeom with a chuckle, “I know he bought our fans a meal the other day.”
[That's it!]
This revelation sent a wave of gasps and surprised reactions through the room. The writers and PD Na were visibly shocked as they looked at S.Coups, amazed that he had guessed the exact story they were about to ask DK about.
“Amazing,” Joshua said, shaking his head in disbelief.
“That’s crazy,” Luna muttered, glancing at her leader with wide eyes. “Kinda scary,” she added, her voice laced with a mix of awe and amusement.
“In fact, they were Mingyu’s fans,” S.Coups added, sending another ripple of amazement through the members, followed by a chorus of, “Ooohs.”
“Really?” Vernon asked, turning to look at Mingyu, who seemed just as surprised.
“How does he know?” Woozi wondered aloud, his tone reflecting the general sentiment in the room.
Dokyeom nodded, recalling the story. “I think they were Mingyu, Luna, and Jeonghan’s fans,” he confirmed.
[They're all SEVENTEEN's fans anyway]
This made Luna turn to Dokyeom with an expression of amazement. “Really?” she asked, her voice filled with genuine surprise.
PD Na, now fully engrossed, looked back down at his notes. “‘On March 22, 2023, he ran into the fans in the restaurant and asked if they’d eaten. He gave them autographs and paid for their meals.’”
Another chorus of amazement filled the room, the members clearly impressed by Dokyeom’s kind gesture.
“He’s cool,” Joshua commented, his voice filled with admiration.
“So cool,” another member echoed.
“Dokyeomie is sweet,” Luna added, smiling up at Dokyeom from her seat, her voice warm and affectionate.
However, amid the praise, Seungkwan interjected, “You asked someone in the restaurant if they’d eaten?”
This question caused a ripple of laughter among the members. “He was asking if they finished eating,” S.Coups corrected with a grin.
“That wasn’t my question,” Dokyeom said, laughing at the misunderstanding.
[To explain what happened]
Dokyeom then went on to explain what had actually happened. “There was one table left next to mine. CARATs who were waiting sat there, so we got to eat together. They were eating very carefully in case I didn’t feel comfortable. They didn’t have to. So, before I left, I apologized for making them feel uncomfortable. I gave them my autograph and paid for their food.”
The members praised him for his thoughtfulness, their admiration clear in their voices.
Mingyu, ever the curious one, raised his hand and turned to DK with a playful glint in his eye. “I have a question. I heard the manager was there too. Did you pay with the corporate card or your own card?”
This inquiry made PD Na laugh, clearly enjoying the light-hearted moment.
“My own card,” Dokyeom responded with a nod, making the members marvel at him even more.
“Are you sure?” Mingyu pushed, his tone teasing.
“It was my own card. Check the receipt,” Dokyeom insisted with a confident nod.
“I’m going to check the receipt for March 22,” Mingyu said, his tone half-joking, half-serious.
Luna, who had been listening to the exchange with a mixture of amusement and affection, reached over and patted Mingyu’s leg, “Just stop,” she said, her voice carrying a motherly scolding tone that made the others chuckle.
Dino turned to Mingyu with a grin. “You’re so petty,” he teased.
“I’m just joking. What are you talking about?” Mingyu pouted in response, clearly enjoying the banter.
Joshua chimed in with a playful jab, “Because he has narrow shoulders. He’s petty because he has narrow shoulders.”
[Mad Joshua]
This comment sent the room into a fit of laughter, with even Mingyu unable to hold back his own amusement. As the laughter erupted around him, Mingyu threw himself onto Luna’s lap, his broad frame folding over as he laughed heartily.
Luna, still laughing herself, half-heartedly caressed his back, her fingers lightly tracing the fabric of his shirt as she indulged his playful antics. "See? That's what you get."
“People with narrow shoulders are petty,” Dokyeom added, agreeing with Joshua and further fueling the laughter.
[They can talk about Mingyu's shoulder sall day long]
“It’s okay. Just work out,” Jeonghan told Mingyu once he got off Luna’s lap, his tone matter-of-fact.
PD Na moved his gaze to the next member, a mischievous smile tugging at his lips. “Next is Seungkwan,” he announced, causing Seungkwan to sit up straight in his seat, his attention fully captured.
[#12 SEUNGKWAN]
“I have something to check instead of a question,” PD Na began, his tone hinting at something humorous.
[In the last ‘HYBE’ Special]
Seungkwan immediately seemed to catch on, a wide smile spreading across his face as he recalled his role in the ‘HYBE’ special.
“Hoshi was like, ‘The son of Na Young Suk,’ ‘You’re the son of tvN.’” He mimicked Hoshi’s tone and expressions, drawing laughter from the room.
[Approved to be Na Yung Suk's son]
PD Na burst into laughter, his eyes crinkling in amusement, while Hoshi nodded vigorously, laughing and pointing at Seungkwan as if to say, “Exactly!”
“He was like, ‘Seungkwan is the son of tvN,’” Seungkwan repeated, this time with more emphasis, making the rest of the members chuckle.
Wonwoo, who had been quietly observing, leaned forward and pointed at Seungkwan. “After that shoot, you call him Young Suk,” he added, his deadpan tone making the statement even funnier.
Seungkwan’s face lit up with playful pride. “He’s my friend,” he declared, bragging slightly that he was now on a first-name basis with the famous PD, causing another wave of laughter to ripple through the group.
[My friend Suk]
Hoshi joined in with a story of his own, his excitement evident. “I was amazed because there were a lot of people I didn’t know. I stayed quiet because I was shy,” he admitted, his voice softening. “But Seungkwan stepped out with confidence…”
Hoshi stood up, his expression transforming into one of exaggerated confidence as he mimicked Seungkwan’s overly bold and eccentric walk. The members burst into laughter at Hoshi’s spot-on impression, Seungkwan laughing along with them, not the least bit embarrassed.
“I even did tumbling,” Seungkwan reminded Hoshi, raising his eyebrows.
[He was unique]
PD Na, still chuckling, nodded. “He helped me with hosting. So I gave him a coupon. It could be a coffee truck or snack food or MC replacement. Since I’m here today, does it even out?”
Seungkwan’s brow furrowed in confusion. “Is it expired?” he asked, not quite understanding the question, while Jeonghan and Luna, who were sitting in front of him, turned to look at him.
“He’s asking if you’re using it now,” Luna clarified, her voice light.
“You’re using it on this. You used it for SEVENTEEN,” Jeonghan added, his tone more straightforward.
[As if they are explaining to their child]
“Oh,” Seungkwan said, realization dawning on his face.
“We got to be here thanks to you,” Mingyu added, his tone playful yet sincere.
Seungkwan turned to Mingyu with a look of mock offense. “What are you talking about? I worked my butt off for it,” he said, looking down at Mingyu, his tone making it clear that the coupon was only his to use. The members laughed at Seungkwan’s indignant response, the harmony in the room palpable.
[It was private property]
“If he makes a male version of ‘Earth Arcade,’ I was going to join it,” Seungkwan said with a pout, his comment drawing even more laughter from the members.
[He has a clear purpose]
After the laughter subsided, Seungkwan turned back to PD Na, his tone now shy. “You said I could use it, so I thought about using it when we were filming the music video, but I just couldn’t,” he admitted, his voice trailing off as he looked down.
[He's more than welcome to use it]
PD Na shook his head, a reassuring smile on his face. “If you just tell me, whatever it is, I’ll do it for you. Just give me a call,” he said, his tone warm and genuine.
“Okay,” Seungkwan nodded, his smile returning. “If you need anyone to talk to, I’ll go,” he offered, his voice sincere as he and PD Na exchanged nods.
[Helping each other]
PD Na turned his attention to the next member, his eyes locking on the ever-composed Vernon. “Vernon,” he called out.
Vernon raised his hand slightly, acknowledging the attention.
[#13 VERNON]
“You’re very good-looking,” PD Na commented, his tone sincere. Vernon’s lips curled into a shy smile as he bowed his head slightly. “Thank you,” he responded, his voice quiet but grateful.
“Nice to meet you, Vernon,” PD Na added warmly.
“Nice to meet you,” Vernon replied, his voice carrying the same calmness that seemed to surround him.
PD Na shifted gears, leaning into the next topic. “You love movies so much that you're often seen in the movies? Your nickname is Baby Lee Dong Jin?” he began, the amusement clear in his voice.
[The movie loving critic] [His nickname is Baby Lee Dong Jin]
“I was surprised to read this. I thought you were a critic. I’ll read it for you…” PD Na said, reaching for his notes.
As PD Na began to read Vernon’s review of the movie ‘Everything Everywhere All at Once’, the room quieted down in anticipation. “‘My mind exploded into pieces of colored paper. Each increasing piece shines on the universe of my potential in my insufficiency. Be kind. Let there be love. Here and now,’” he recited, each word carrying weight.
[Vernon's comment after watching 'Everything Everywhere All at Once']
The members listened intently, but it was Mingyu who couldn’t hide his confusion. PD Na noticed and turned to him, “Mingyu. What does that mean?”
[An unexpected literature test]
The sudden quiz caught Mingyu off guard, his face blank as the question hung in the air. The members erupted into laughter at Mingyu’s clear bewilderment, the playful teasing at full throttle.
Jeonghan, still chuckling, looked at Vernon, surprise evident in his eyes. “How do you come up with it?”
“Vernonie has a way with words,” Luna commented, her tone filled with admiration.
Mingyu, determined to redeem himself, decided to jump in. “I watched this movie too. It was very impressive,” he began, his voice carrying a note of seriousness. “The movie describes one’s life or expression using…”
[Skip]
But as he continued, Mingyu’s explanation became more convoluted, his thoughts spiraling into an incoherent ramble. “Respect each other and love each other…”
It was Dino who cut through Mingyu’s monologue with a blunt observation, “I don’t get what you mean.”
“What are you saying?” Wonwoo laughed, shaking his head in disbelief.
Mingyu, clearly frustrated by the relentless teasing, looked around the room in exasperation. Luna, sitting comfortably in her seat, chuckled at the ongoing banter.
“It was a good movie. You should watch,” Mingyu concluded with a chuckle, his voice carrying a finality that signaled he was done trying to explain.
“There it is,” Luna laughed, her voice light. “The bottom line is, it’s good,” she said, summing up Mingyu’s roundabout explanation.
Dino, clearly enjoying the moment, pointed at Luna in agreement. “Right? The bottom line is that it’s a good movie,” he repeated her words, earning another round of laughter from the group.
Mingyu, not one to back down, turned to Vernon. “My comment would be, ‘It’s fun. You should watch it.’ I just had a different way to put it,” he said, pointing at Vernon, who responded by pointing back at him.
“Right,” Vernon agreed with a knowing smile.
Woozi, who had been quietly observing the exchange, chimed in with his own insight. “If they’d write movie reviews, he’d give five stars and just say it’s good,” Woozi said, pointing at Mingyu, before shifting his finger towards Vernon. “But he’d give four point seven stars and leave a long comment.”
This observation set off another wave of laughter, the members clearly enjoying Woozi’s spot-on assessment.
Vernon, however, shook his head, a small smile playing on his lips as he corrected them. “It's a five,” he said, his voice firm in its conviction.
[5 stars for 'Everything Everywhere All at Once']
PD Na, intrigued by Vernon’s thoughtful movie review, decided to dig a little deeper. “Do you have any recommendations?” he asked, his tone reflecting genuine curiosity.
Vernon paused for a moment, clearly thinking. “Steven Spielberg recently released a new movie. It’s called 'The Fabelmans',” he said, his expression serious.
“Have you seen it?” PD Na inquired, leaning forward slightly.
“Yes,” Vernon nodded, his voice steady.
“But it just came out,” PD Na remarked, a hint of surprise in his voice.
“I watched it in the theater,” Vernon answered simply as if that was the most natural thing in the world.
Vernon continued, his tone reflective. “I thought it contained a lot of stories about his own life. If you’re a movie lover, you’d enjoy watching it.”
Wonwoo, sitting nearby, couldn’t help but chime in with a smirk, “He said it was good.”
“It was good,” Vernon affirmed, his tone matter-of-fact.
Seungkwan, never one to miss a chance for a playful jab, patted Mingyu on the back and added, “He said, ‘It was good. You should watch’ in a cool way.”
Mingyu, still determined to keep up with the film conversation, decided to contribute. “Because I haven’t seen that movie yet, something that would make me say that is 'Cinema Paradiso',” he declared, his voice full of confidence.
Vernon turned to him, a bit puzzled. “What’s 'Cinema Paradiso'?”
Mingyu, not missing a beat, responded with the same casual tone, “It’s a movie. It’s good. You should watch.”
[Nice timing]
The room erupted into laughter at Mingyu’s witty reply, his playful banter lifting the spirits of everyone present.
“Good job,” Luna told Mingyu, her giggle soft yet loud.
“As long as it’s good,” Jun said with a grin, his comment bringing yet another wave of laughter from the group.
PD Na turned his attention to the last member, the youngest of the group, Dino. “Finally, it’s Dino’s turn. We’re finally here,” he said, smiling as he prepared to ask his question. “I’ll ask him a simple question and move on.”
[#14 DINO]
PD Na continued, “Dino, what kind of razor did you use today?”
At the mention of the razor, every single member burst out laughing, the room echoing with their amusement. It was an inside joke among them, first brought up on their variety show ‘Going Seventeen’, and it never failed to get a reaction.
[The other 12 love it]
[For some reason, the older ones are]
[making fun of Dino for using the electric shaver]
[Watch ‘Going Seventeen’ for details]
Dino sat there, his eyes wide with disbelief, clearly shocked that the joke had followed him even here. It was a moment of realization that he couldn’t seem to escape the recurring joke.
“Seriously…” Dino trailed off, his voice a mix of resignation and amusement as he shook his head slightly.
Joshua and Mingyu, sitting on either side of him, leaned in from both sides, examining his face closely.
[Checking if he shaved today]
“You look neat today,” they both commented, their voices teasing as they pretended to inspect the results of his shave.
[Can't hide his shyness even with makeup]
Dino, still a bit flustered, answered, “I used ‘Gillette.’”
“You didn’t use the electric shaver?” PD Na pressed, continuing the light-hearted interrogation.
Dino shook his head, finally starting to relax into the joke. “I don’t use an electric shaver. I used it when I was in middle school,” he explained.
[Did you get that much mustache at the time?]
“I use a ‘Gillette 6-blade’ razor.” Dino added.
PD Na, clearly amused by the topic, kept the conversation going. “About the razor, when did you join SEVENTEEN?”
“Fourteen” S.Coups answered quickly for him, the leader's instincts kicking in.
Dino nodded, confirming, “I joined when I was fourteen.”
PD Na, still trying to piece together the dynamics of the group, asked, “Who was the oldest at the time?”
S.Coups raised his hand, a small smile on his lips as he acknowledged his role.
“S.Coups,” Dino said..
“How old were you?” PD Na asked, directing the question at S.Coups.
“I was eighteen,” S.Coups replied, his tone calm.
PD Na looked between the two, a hint of nostalgia in his eyes. “He must’ve felt like a cute little brother,” he said, referring to Dino, imagining the dynamic of an older brother looking out for the youngest.
There was a brief pause, a moment of silence that hung in the air before Hoshi, ever the mood maker, broke it with a mischievous grin. “He didn’t even look at him back then,” Hoshi remarked, his voice filled with playful accusation.
The room erupted in laughter again, the members nodding in agreement at the truth behind Hoshi’s words.
Dino, shaking his head with a chuckle, added, “He never even looked at me.”
S.Coups, completely unbothered by the teasing, shrugged nonchalantly. “I didn’t care,” he said, his tone casual as he laughed at the reminder.
PD Na, intrigued by the group's earlier dynamic, decided to dig a little deeper. “Tell me more about that period,” he prompted, his tone curious.
[That period]
Immediately, a wave of disagreement washed over the members. S.Coups, shaking his head and waving his hand as if to push the topic away, said firmly, “We shouldn’t. We shouldn’t talk about that period.”
Seungkwan chimed in with a smirk, “We have to talk about it in a cart bar.”
“With a bottle of soju,” Dino added, his tone implying they’d need a drink or two to discuss their trainee days, which elicited another round of laughter from everyone.
Seungkwan nodded, leaning back in his seat. “We went through so much.”
“Right. Those were tough times,” Dokyeom agreed, his chuckle carrying a hint of nostalgia.
Sensing that the topic was a sensitive one, PD Na nodded. “We’ll stop here then,” he said, understanding that some memories were best left for another time.
Switching gears, PD Na asked Dino, “It says, is there anything the other guys took from you?”
Dino paused, thinking it over. “Anything they took from me?” he echoed, his brow furrowing in thought. After a moment, he shook his head slightly, as if dismissing the idea. “It’s never the items.”
Joshua, seated nearby, looked confused. “‘Never the items?’” he repeated.
“What do we take from you then?” Minghao asked, tilting his head curiously.
There was a brief pause before Dino deadpanned, “Instead of my items, they take my positive attitude and hope from me.”
The entire room erupted in laughter— members, producers, writers, and crew alike. Dino’s deadpan delivery and the unexpectedness of his statement had caught everyone off guard.
[The villains]
“Some things are more important than objects,” Dino added, his tone still serious, which only made the situation funnier.
[We should make a special on Dino's story]
But a second later, Dino waved his arms around, trying to get everyone’s attention. “Wait,” he said, making everyone quiet down, “except for noona,” he gestured to Luna, who smiled warmly at him.
“Noona is my favorite,” Dino declared.
[The twin bunny no. 1 is the favorite]
A small chorus of disagreement rose from the rest of the members, playful and lighthearted.
Luna smiled and scrunched her nose affectionately at Dino. “You’re my favorite too,” she said.
This simple statement caused the biggest uproar yet. The members groaned in mock jealousy, and the room filled with their laughter.
Luna simply laughed along, enjoying the moment. PD Na, catching Jeonghan’s unphased expression, gestured to him. “How about Jeonghan? He fought for you.”
Dino glanced at Jeonghan, then back at Luna as she replied without hesitation, “Dino is my baby.” Her tone was affectionate, but then she turned to Jeonghan, her expression shifting to one of playful mischief. “Jeonghannie oppa is… he knows his place,” she added with a smirk.
[Twin bunny no. 2 knows his place]
Jeonghan, seemingly unbothered by her words, nodded his head lazily, his easy compliance making his droopy eyes and lazy smirk even more pronounced. His gaze met Luna’s, and for a brief moment, something shifted between them once more. Luna felt a flutter in her stomach, the kind of sensation that was hard to ignore. Those butterflies— soft, nervous, and thrilling— seemed to take flight, making her heart beat just a little faster.
Noticing the interaction, S.Coups pointed at Luna teasingly, “That’s not fair. You’re not allowed to have favorites.”
Luna, trying to defend herself, waved her hand dismissively. “Eyy, you have your favorites too,” she retorted, a knowing smile on her lips.
S.Coups grinned, unable to deny the accusation. His smile confirmed that she was right, and the members shared a collective laugh, the air filled with the warmth of their banter.
[Who is the leader's favorite child?]
As the interview wrapped up, the group lingered in the studio for a moment, exchanging final comments and laughter with PD Na. The conversation naturally eased, leaving everyone in high spirits. With the questions finished, they were free to leave the interview area. S.Coups signaled for the members to head back to their rest area while the crew began setting up the space for the games they would play next.

Joey B Blurbs: With A Little Help From My Friends
Tumblr media
————————————————————————-
Summary: You and a few other WAGs do a prank on your boys by buying them all matching shirts for a get-together without them knowing.
Warnings: Fluff, unserious/funny, pranks
Pairing: Joe Burrow x reader
Imagine Universe: Into The Mystic
————————————————————————-
January 20, 2024 - *36 weeks pregnant*
“Joe, I have your outfit laid out on the island in the closet.” - you
Joe’s head snapped away from the TV and over in my direction. I'd just walked into the kitchen from getting ready upstairs. Joe sat on the couch watching The Office reruns, all cuddled up with Tyson and Miles - looking adorable.
“What? I can pick my outfit out.” - Joe
“I know, but I ordered you a new shirt that I'd like you to wear.” - you
“Oh, okay. What is it?” - Joe
“A flannel.” - you
“Mmm, okay.” - Joe
A few moments later, I sat down on the couch with my boys, but Joe left just a minute later to get ready himself.
Robin and Jimmy were coming in a bit to watch the twins while Joe and I went over to Sam’s for a get-together with some of his teammates.
The guys had no idea, though, that the WAG’s group chat had been super active the past week leading up to tonight.
A prank was to ensue, and it was that we'd all secretly ordered the same shirt for our men. We'd all show up one by one, and the guy’s reactions to matching would be hilarious.
Plus, Joe would look hot as hell in a flannel.
Half an Office episode later, Joe came bounding down the stairs. The greyish flannel looked amazing on him, giving off major dad vibes, paired with regular-fitting blue jeans that had been sitting untouched in the closet since I'd ordered them.
I let out a teasing whistle, Joe blushing at the cat-call.
“You like?” - Joe
“Yes. You look amazing, Joey. Do a little spin for me?” - you
Joe happily obliged before searching for approval in my facial expression.
“Love it. I need to start sneaking more of this style into your side of the closet.” - you
“Is that style ‘I have two kids and another on the way’?” - Joe
“Bingo. I told you, you're a DILF.” - you
“You love to remind me of that.” - Joe
“Because it's true.” - you grinned
——
There was a ring of the doorbell, and I went to stand up from the couch, but Joe ushered me to sit back down.
“Hey Mom, hey Dad. Thanks for watching the boys.” - Joe
“Oh, of course!” - Robin
Robin and Jimmy had barely made it into the house before they were ambushed by Tyson and Miles.
They happily hugged their grandbabies, and Jimmy picked up Miles in his arms.
“Where's your wife, Joseph Lee?” - Robin
“On the couch, she went to open the door, but I waved her off.” - Joe
Robin gave her son a proud nod, grateful that he was treating his pregnant wife as he should.
The five of them eventually walked back into the living room, and Joe plopped back onto the couch next to me, putting his arm around me on the back of the couch.
“You look great, y/n!” - Robin
“Aww, thank you. I'm feeling great as well. Baby girl is treating my bladder a lot better than the twins did.” - you laughed
“That's good! I love your dress, makes your bump pop.” - Robin grinned
“Joe actually picked it out.” - you
I put a hand on Joe’s chest and smiled up at him, a glint in his eye when he returned the soft grin.
“Wow, I would’ve never expected that.” - Robin
Laughing, I understood where she was coming from. My dress was a solid black, nothing like anything in Joe’s side of the closet.
“I picked his outfit out, though.” - you smiled
“That was my next question! That style looks good on you, Joey. You look very adult.” - Robin
“Thank you? I think.” - Joe
“It was meant to be a compliment. I think so, at least…” - Jimmy
A few seconds of laughter went by before Joe patted my thigh and spoke up.
“Ready to go, babe?” - Joe
“Sure!” - you
Joe stood up before turning around to me and putting a hand out to help me up.
Once I was on my feet, Joe let go of one of my hands but still held the other.
“We’ll be back later!” - Joe
He led me over to the garage door of the house and grabbed his keys to the Porsche off of the hook.
Sweetly, Joe walked me over to the passenger side of the car and opened my door for me, along with helping me sit down before shutting the door back.
“Whatcha wanna listen to?” - Joe
Joe always joked about my passenger princess ways, but here he was, offering me to pick the music before I even asked.
In the end, I pulled up my Spotify playlist “’60s-’70s Love Songs” and shuffled it.
Looking over at Joe as he backed out of the driveway, I giggled as he playfully rolled his eyes with a smile on his face at my music selection.
For dramatic effect, I grabbed onto Joe’s shoulder and sang Be My Baby by The Ronettes into my hand like I was holding a microphone.
“You're crazy.” - Joe laughed
“But you love me.” - you
“That I do, my baby.” - Joe
——
I had my arm looped with Joe’s as we stood on Sam’s front porch. Joe had just rung the doorbell and now we're waiting for an answer.
Squeezing his bicep lightly, Joe’s eyes darted to me.
“You okay, Mama?” - Joe
“Mhm. Just love you in this shirt.” - you grinned
Just a few seconds later, the front door swung open, revealing Sam.
“Hey, Burrow’s! Woah- what the hell? Joe, are we matching?” - Sam
I giggled to myself as Joe and Sam looked down at their flannels and then at each other.
“That's weird man, but I def wore it better.” - Joe
Sam rolled his eyes before stepping to the side to let Joe and me inside the house.
I immediately greeted Jess, who complimented my pregnancy glow, and while we were deep into conversation, the doorbell rang again.
When Sam opened the door, Jess and I exchanged knowing looks at each other.
On the front porch, Cody Ford and Evan McPherson were laughing about the fact they had matching shirts on while Tianna and Gracie stood to the side laughing.
“What the hell!” - Sam
“You guys have it too?!” - Evan
Joe was full-on cackling, and I couldn't help but mirror my husband.
The girls walked over and sat next to me and Jess, our boys all pointing at each other’s shirts while laughing.
Thirty minutes later, over ten more guys had shown up, all in the same flannel, and Joe and his guys found it hilarious each time.
The girls and I all sat in a corner of the living room, recording and laughing at the reactions coming out of the guys.
They really were adult toddlers, but that's what makes being married to one fun.
After dinner, Joe found me by myself in the kitchen and wrapped his arms around me from behind. At first, I couldn't tell who it was because all the guys here had the same long-sleeved shirt on, and all I could see were the person's arms.
The thought didn't last too long when I saw the wedding ring on the person’s finger that was too unique to be anyone other than Joe.
“Hi, Mama.” - Joe
“Hi, Joey.” - you
“Can I ask you a question?” - Joe
“Of course.” - you
With Joe’s hands on my bump, I covered them with my own and let my head fall back onto his chest/shoulder.
“Who wore the shirt best?” - Joe
“I'm kinda biased, but you, for sure.” - you
“Yeah?” - Joe
“Mhm, I'm gonna start sneaking more flannels into your closet.” - you
“I'll wear ‘em if they get a good reaction out of you.” - Joe
“Oh, you know they will.” - you giggled
I turned around in Joe’s arms and looked into his gorgeous blue eyes, my hands on his chest.
Slowly, Joe leaned in and pressed his lips onto mine.
A minute later, we were still kissing. The craving for each other was never satisfied, but we were interrupted by a loud, fake, gagging sound.
“For the love of god, she's already pregnant! You guys are disgusting!” - Ja’Marr
I leaned my head onto Joe’s chest with a giggle as he glared at one of his best friends.
“Ja’Marr, get the fuck away!” - Joe
Ja’Marr threw his arms up in surrender before walking out of the kitchen. Joe turned back to me with a sly grin on his face.
“Sorry, Mrs. Burrow. Where were we?” - Joe
I’d never get tired of him calling me that.
“Mmm, I think we might've been kissing.” - you
“Let's test that theory.” - Joe
Just as Joe was leaning in, our lips brushed together, but something made him pull back.
“Y'all nasty!” - Ja’Marry whisper yelled
“Ja’Marr!!” - Joe yelled
Sure, they got annoying sometimes, but deep down, Joe knew he wouldn't get by without a little help from his friends. Even if said help was unwanted.

I've seen a fair number of people interpret Rebecca Sugar's (and the Crew's) decision to put Ruby in a dress as subversive, and I want to discuss why that feels like a clear miss to me.
Every time--every single time--I've heard Rebecca Sugar talk about the queer relationships on this show, it comes with this expression of wholesomeness, and often glazed with a sheen of wistfulness, flavored something like "I needed this as a child and young person, and I didn't have it." Much of Rebecca Sugar's work to bring this wedding (and other unapologetic queer relationships) to the screen was framed as an emergency--as in, we HAVE to get this out there for those kids we used to be, because we know they're drowning.
Yes, it's funny sometimes when people make jokes about Sugar deliberately "adding more gay" or "making it gayer" as a big eff-you to the people who spoke against it, but that doesn't sit right from where I'm standing. It took so much strength (and resulted in so much battle damage) to fight that fight, yes. But from everything I can see from the interviews and conversations I've seen and read, this wasn't served up in a "ha-HA, take THAT!" kind of way. These characters having these kinds of relationships should have been a non-issue, and the fact that their very wholesome kids'-show wedding and very sweet kiss and very adorable love for each other was seen as Political when it should have been just two characters in love is so sad to me.
I've seen dozens of people suggest that Ruby is in a dress and Sapphire is in a suit "to fuck with the bigoted censors in other countries" or "to give the finger to gender roles," but again, I think it is simpler and sweeter than that. Rebecca's said that Ruby in a dress is how she feels in a dress. Celebration and exploration of feminine-coded stuff felt wrong to Rebecca for a long time, like it wasn't hers, because she wasn't really a woman and didn't want it forced on her. As a result she was robbed of all the beauty that should have been a non-issue, from what TV shows and toys she was supposed to enjoy as a kid to what kind of person she was supposed to marry and what she should wear as an adult.
Ruby never got a choice about how she looked really. Once she got to choose her presentation for a significant event, this is what she chose. It means so much more to see that than to construct it primarily as a reactionary measure, as if it would somehow foil the sinister censors in more homophobic countries (who, incidentally, are not therefore forced to show Ruby in a dress even though they tried to hide that Ruby was a "she" or that she was in a romantic relationship with another "she"; y'all, they just don't show the episode).
Tumblr media
We see plenty of other examples of gender-role-related expectations being casually stepped on and squashed, like when they took the trouble to give traditionally masculine and traditionally feminine "clothes" to some watermelons to make the audience think there was a husband and wife watermelon only to have the wife be the warrior and the husband stay home with the child. With stuff like that, yeah, sure, maybe it's designed to make you think "oh isn't that very feminist of them!" Or maybe it's more "well why do I see this as a 'reversal' when it's just a thing that happened?" This show is full of ladyish beings who fight and have power. And as for Steven. . . .
Tumblr media
Nobody has negative reactions onscreen (or even particularly confused reactions) when Steven wears traditionally feminine clothes, and it is (of course) also not presented as a "boy in a dress gag"--it's not supposed to be funny. When they go all in slathering Steven in literal princess tropes throughout the final act of Season 5, we understand that it's because the powerful Diamonds expect him to be Pink Diamond, not because the show is trying to girlify him or embarrass him or even make the audience think positive thoughts about boys in girls' clothes. It's more neutral than that in my interpretation: "these are literally just pieces of cloth, and while some of them have meaning, they don't inherently have a gender." I don't see this as transgressive. It's just in a world where putting on what you want to wear doesn't HAVE to be a political statement. (Though obviously it CAN be, and plenty of people wear a variety of clothes as a fuck-you to whoever they want to give the finger to. I just don't see that as happening here.)
Don't get me wrong; Rebecca Sugar certainly knew about the politics (intimately) and has lived at many of their intersections. She was not ignorant of how queer people are seen in this world. She was silenced as a bisexual person because her identity supposedly didn't matter if she was with a man and planned to be with that same man forever. She was shunted into "omg a woman did this!" categories over and over again, which she wore uneasily as a nonbinary person while accepting that part of who we are is how the world sees us. But what is it like if everything someone like her embraces is seen as a statement synonymous with "fuck you" to someone else?
She is married to a person who happens to be a man and happens to be Black. Her relationship isn't a "statement" about either of those aspects of his existence; her love is simply something that is. She is Jewish working in a society that's largely Christian. Her cultural perspective to NOT center her cartoon around Christian holidays and Christian morals; her choices to make an alternate world in this specific way is simply something that is. Her queer perspective as a nonbinary bisexual person has helped inform the Gems' radical philosophy of "what if we learned to explore and define ourselves instead of doing the 'jobs' we're assigned and being told it's our nature?" Her decision to include queer people in a broadly queer cartoon isn't designed PRIMARILY as a battle against baddies, or to drown out all the relentless straightness, or to deliciously get our queer little paws all over their kids' TV. It's an act of love.
Tumblr media
So this is just to say that though I DO understand that sometimes subversion and intentional transgression are very necessary, I do not think that's the HEART of what's going on at this Gem wedding. We got a wholesome marriage scene between two of the most lovely little flawed-but-still-somehow-perfect characters, and I very much want to see their choices as being about them. About how Ruby feels in a dress. About how Sapphire feels about not having to always wear a dress. About them incorporating a symbol of their union into their separate lives so they can have some independence in their togetherness. About them celebrating their love by letting Steven wipe his schmaltz all over them.
There are many choices in the show that ARE carefully constructed to counter existing narratives, you know, giving the Crystal Gems' only boy all the healing, pink, flower imagery; having a single-sex species that's ladyish with all the members going by "she"; featuring many nurturing male characters who cry and cook and raise kids without mothers; pairing multiple fighty ladies with gentler guys; and importantly, intentionally loading up the show with stories, characters, and imagery any gender will find appealing despite being tasked with expectations to pander to the preteen boy demographic.
But it's very important to me that the inclusion of queer characters and the featuring of their choices be seen primarily as a loving act, and way way less of a "lol screw the bigots." I want our stories to be about us. Yes, I know it's a necessary evil that sometimes our stories are also about fighting Them. But every time I see someone say they put Ruby in the dress to "piss off the homophobes" or "stump the censors" I feel a little gross. Like the time I picked out an outfit I loved and my mom said I only dressed in such an obnoxious way to upset her, and I was baffled because my aesthetic choices, my opinions, my choices had nothing to do with her. Yet they were framed like I chose these clothes primarily to cause some kind of petty harm to her, when not only was it not true but I was not even that kind of person who would gloat over intentionally irritating someone.
The queerness of this show isn't a sneaky, underhanded act trying above all to upset a bigot or celebrate someone's homophobic fury. It lives for itself. Its existence is about itself. It's so we can see ourselves in a show, and it's so people who aren't queer or don't have those experiences can see that we exist, we participate, we want very similar things, and definitely are focusing way more about celebrating our love at our own weddings rather than relishing the thought of bigots tearing their hair out and hating us.
It's dangerous to turn every act of our love into a deliberate movement in a battle strategy when their weddings just get to be weddings.
I think there’s this idea that that [queer characters] is something that applies or should be only discussed with adults that is completely wrong. And I think when you realize that talking to kids about heteronormativity is just like air that you breathe all the time, it’s kind of amazing that that is not true in any other capacity. I think if you wait to tell kids, to tell queer youth that it matters how they feel or that they are even a person, then it’s going to be too late! You have to talk about it—you have to let it be what it gets to be for everyone. I mean, like, I think about, a lot of times I think about sort of fairy tales and Disney movies and the way that love is something that is ALWAYS discussed with children. And I think also there’s this idea that’s like, oh, we should represent, you know, queer characters that are adults, because there are adults that are queer, and you should know that’s something that is happening in the adult world, but that’s not how those films or those stories are told to children. You’re told that YOU should dream about love, about this fulfilling love that YOU’RE going to have. […] The Prince and Snow White are not like someone’s PARENTS. They’re something you want to be, that you are sort of dreaming of a future where you will find happiness. Why shouldn’t everyone have that? It’s really absurd to think that everyone shouldn’t get to have that! --Rebecca Sugar

the thing is that the “laudna or delilah” debate i think actually misses the complexity of laudna as a character — which i think actually gets magnificently illustrated when marisha talks about and chooses her actions as laudna. like in the game, she tends to act comfortably as laudna even in those delilah filled moments once the initial indication has been made by matt that laudna feels that presence particularly in a given way. but the vehicle of a ttrpg as the medium in which laudna exists and interacts means that there is intractable ambiguity in the “did laudna do this or did delilah?” because the answer is always at the same time that both of them chose it as it is that laudna did, because matt always brings in delilah as a reaction to the choices made, either by laudna in the narrative or by marisha as the creator orienting laudna’s choices. like tonight, marisha certainly didn’t say I’m Looking At This Sword Appealing to Delilah, but she did have laudna who was traumatized by that sword engage with it while also engaged with an action she has pointedly and continuously accounted as a coping mechanism from years of solitude with nothing but the voice in her head. laudna didn’t choose to have delilah in her mind, but she did choose to ask for more power, she did choose to act without orym’s input, she did choose to use her form of dread, whether or not she chose the form which it took. especially with the the indicators that this is a storyline alluding to addiction (something i’ve long suspected but has now been affirmed by marisha in the cooldown), it is extremely compelling that laudna is both insistent of her own responsibility when it comes to intentions but is absolutely avoidant to the point of absolute denial when it comes to consequences. this was especially apparent when imogen asked if laudna’s choices and actions were all her own and laudna insisted they were, but then ended the episode with a form of dread the image of delilah briarwood fading from around her as she repeated “i didn’t mean it.”
it is particularly interesting when she is alongside imogen because i think the thing that is the most compelling to me about them right now si something that laura (iirc) alluded to in the cooldown about how imogen has chosen a significant turn away from predathos at the same time laudna has leaned in hard to delilah. in a lot of ways imogen has been very like laudna when it comes to the importance of intentions vs. consequences, at least insofar as her experience with her powers led to a different kind of isolation than laudna’s but still led imogen to experience situations in which she was confronted by the cruelty of thoughts much more expediently than she was with the cruelty of actions. and while laudna has experienced the cruelty of actions, she ties those intensely to bad intentions as well — cruel actions come from cruel thoughts. i mean, that’s what fun scary refers to — in that first interaction with those kids, we get a clear though undoubtedly unintentional insight into the perspectives that laudna and imogen both have on the cruelty that the world contains. laudna sees no harm in the fear she instills in those children because she loves kids, her intention was fun, her actions can’t be truly harmful if she never intended it. and interestingly, imogen disagrees that laudna is fun scary at all, she actually points out that laudna is scary scary, but in a good way.
and so we have this dynamic between two characters who have been the balms to one another’s solitude — which, as has been expressed in other posts, in both cases emerged from their commitments to their outlooks: laudna continued to appear as a witch on the outskirts of town, likely engaging in haunting behaviour if her actions throughout the campaign have been any indicator, and continued to run until, interestingly, someone who could read her mind was the first person to truly realize she meant no harm. imogen isolated because she was inundated with thoughts and turned misanthropic because of how often those thoughts were negative and cruel, until someone (who partakes in actions that can very easily be considered at least appearing to be negative or scary) had thoughts that were good. and they fell in love — with a confession scene where laudna raised concern that she might be a bad person, because she herself had ill intentions in reaction to bor’dor (absolutely mediated by deliliah, but her own emotional reaction that prompted that mediation). and imogen’s rebuttal isn’t a reference to laudna’s choices or her actions but to the thoughts she’s had that imogen has been witness to.
except. except it’s been months and imogen has a mother who had the best of intentions to start with . intentions that look a lot like imogen’s own, but now she stands at the side of a man willing to risk the entire world so that he can (ostensibly) no longer have to deal with divinity. imogen’s mother who allows the murder of countless people, of every member of the hells themselves except imogen, of oryms family, to get the answers and the solution that imogen herself is looking for. and as imogen has gotten further in the journey, the role of thoughts and intention has become apparent in its limits. because it’s true that they are important, it marks a difference between ludinus and liliana absolutely when it comes to likelihood that they might have a path for redemption, but it doesn’t mark much of a difference for the lives lost. and imogen has become much more concerned with this, i think maybe most clearly in her decisions around her last few predathos diving dreams because her hesitation hasn’t been that they need to consider the sides more, it’s been that, regardless of her intent to come back to the hells, to get information for their mission, her will might still lose the fight against the pull of predathos and if she’s forced to be this vessel which might allow it free, it might not matter as much what her intentions are when she dreams.
and at the same time. laudna has been confronted with the same evidence that her worldview might not paint a complete picture, but she’s still looking at that incomplete image as the whole. as is clear in her reaction to liliana, where she sets up her position to imogen by referring to her own love for her — for laudna, liliana must not actually love imogen, couldn’t possibly if the outcome of her actions is imogen growing up without her mother and liliana aiding and abetting (even if occasionally Maybe limiting) exandrias mage criminal of the decade. except, as imogen who has started to be checked on her flawed thoughts > actions perspective points out, that inconsistency isn’t one that laudna is immune to — laudna loves imogen and the hells and undoubtedly wants to see them live in a world they can thrive in, but she’ll also give up pieces of herself and make decisions without their input that have implications for those she chooses to exclude as evident in her choice with the sword,
and so tonight’s everything was delicious . when marisha’s interparty conflict beam hits it hits and it did tonight but the conversation between laudna and imogen was truly truly fantastic and so compelling because you get both laudna so locked into the familiar comforting behaviour that thinking that her intentions are all that matters is and being confronted by the fact that right now the consequences seem so enormous that the comfort is cold and imogen realizing that the thing that she’s been struggling through with her mother — and don’t get me started about imogen’s response to her mother saying she’s made her choices for imogen and the fact that laudna’s first explanation of why she chose this was a similar appeal to protecting imogen — is the same thing that has a hold of the woman she loves, though in different forms. and god, not to add another unnecessary sidebar, but laura is truly so good at coming up with heartwrenching prompts? dialogue? i dunno what to call it but the way that taliesin is insane with one liners, laura is like that with setting up conversations and then eventually spiking them into my heart because jesus the “i just watch. [as she plunges a dagger into her heart]” “i’ll always love you, i just don’t know what to do with it” “i didn’t mean it” “i know” because that’s the thing, that’s the struggle . ethel cain voice directed at laudna and liliana. imogen temult loves you but not enough to save you. because it doesn’t matter how much anyone loves laudna if she still believes in the necessity of delilah, it doesn’t matter how much anyone loves liliana if she still believes her presence at ludinus’ side is a requirement. and that’s not to reduce the degree to which they both have undoubtedly been trained to believe those things, but it is to say that both in the text and in the real world situations to which people love to refer when reducing agency to make characters more girlboss or whatever — it’s actually explicitly the role that laudna ascribes to her own emotions and choices and value that will lead her to a life where delilah does not have full reign.
the ambiguity and complexity is that as long as laudna wants (which translates to a need for her) her power, she wants delilah and whatever words that delilah will feed her to validate the need for and/or increase that power, which means that her actions are always her own, and the consequences are always hers to bear. the messiness is her continued insistence on separating intention from consequence — because laudna never means harm, for her it’s about protection, even power doesn’t seem to be power for its own sake. even with orym tonight it was about protecting orym from the sword, but also of course about finding power for delilah so that deliliah might also grant her more power so that she can help save imogen and the hells and the world. but that means when she explains to others she can make claims like i didn’t mean to, or that the choice was all her own because as incorrect to anyone else, laudna has completely committed to her founded belief that intentions matter more than anything else when it comes to the judgement of someone and their actions.

Watching 2x01 and genuinely driving myself crazy with the realization that Buck actually falls for Eddie's personality. He's frustrated by everything else but the minute he sees Eddie being Eddie he starts paying attention. Eddie's intro is everyone else calling him handsome except for Buck. By the end of the episode Buck is cheering for Eddie the hardest and it all came because he likes EDDIE'S PERSONALITY. This following the pattern of him liking Abby before he even met her because he liked her personality?? TO BE SEEN AND FOUND AS A THEME AGAIN!
oh man stoppppp. you are so correct, anon. HE DOES. 2x01 actually makes me crazy. there is so much going on there. buck's immediate feelings about eddie are such a tangled mess. like, there's attraction there, which buck certainly does not recognise is attraction. (the fact that he is the only one who doesn't comment on how attractive eddie is makes me insane. it would have been less revealing if he did actually lmao.) so even though that physical attraction is there, it doesn't even register for buck. and then there's everything else, the feelings deeply rooted in his trauma. that this guy is going to replace him, be better than him, be more worthy than him, that everyone will love him more than buck. thus, the macho posturing and desperate attempts to prove his worth. like, almost immediately he sees eddie as ENEMY because of the perceived threat on his own worth. but then, yeah. eddie is eddie. he's good, he's compassionate, he's competent, he's understanding and non-judgemental. and that's the thing really. THAT’S what pulls buck in.
because EDDIE IS EDDIE. eddie, who sees past buck's knee-jerk reaction of hostility and distrust. like, by all rights eddie could bite back at buck and his deranged behaviour. he could write him off as a dickhead with a big ego and not bother with him, because yeah. buck is being a bit of a dick (affectionate). but he DOESN'T DO THAT because he, well. sees buck. he sees the personality beneath the posturing. he sees that there's more there. that there's some insecurity there. like, buck is constantly trying to provoke a reaction but instead of rising to it with the same hostile energy, eddie's like okay man. what's your problem? then actually listens to what buck's problem is and tries to reason with it. and there's a distinct shift after that. like, even before they pull the grenade out of that guy. there's a moment where eddie's explaining the intricacies of a grenade and its components, and that hostility and exasperation is gone from buck's expression. instead, he looks well. a little impressed. and then, the clincher i think is after, when eddie tells buck that he's badass under pressure. like, GOD. the way buck says "me?" like he’s genuinely asking "wait really? me?" and yeah. THAT’S IT. that's where he falls for eddie's personality, because he's been nothing but hostile towards him and eddie's just like. man, you're great. you can have my back any day. INSANE ACTUALLY.
in hindsight, it really sets up their entire relationship. the way buck just wants to be seen (eddie seeing beyond buck's hostility). and the way eddie just wants someone to be there, to have his back (buck getting into an ambulance with him where there is a live fucking grenade). WILD.

Finale thoughts!
Interesting to find out that Hillerska has had multiple warnings over several years and still didn't pull their heads in. Clearly they thought they were invincible.
Vincent and Nils stepping up to the plate when they see August's genuine distress, the way Vincent is stroking his arm. There's real friendship and love to be found, but you only see it when you're honest. Similarly, their reactions when they find out that August is backup. August receiving the posioned chalice. What else can he do now, though? He's lost Arnas, or at least part of it. He has to do the military service; he's in the position Wille has been in.
Haha, the housemaster having a drink with the boys. What else is he going to do?
Loved the scene with Felice dragging Wille to the party. Her facial expressions, she's so cute. Wille negotiating with Malin shows a level of maturity, but the male bodyguard is SO not impressed as he follows them to the palace, LOL.
LOVE that Simon brought Rosh and Ayub to the white party. And Ayub reassuring Rosh, after Stella shows herself for who she is. She's chosen the Hillerska way, all the way.
The scene between Wille and August in the clubroom. He didn't know it, but that was the closure he needed. THat they both needed. They've made peace, they can even develop a familial relationship again into the future, but right now this is as close to peace as they can have at this stage.
Nils, you giant dork. And also... They're shocked he didn't say anything earlier,  but would things have been different if he had?
No Royal house, no Prince, no socialist, no drama. No before. No later. Only now. As the previous song said, back to basics. Back to the pure connection they have with each other.
The lake scene. So beautiful.
Simon's Song! Did Felice initiate that, do we think? A few of the choir were smiling at Simon. Nice to see they all (or most of them) wanted that and not the musty old version.
Oh, Kristina, that really is too little too late, but I'm glad you came through in the end.
The little token the Queen and Duke put around August's neck is a frog prince. The symbolism would be a sledgehammer if the direction or script drew attention to that, but they don't.
In the car, Wille beginning to feel the panic attack happening, the constriction of the collar around his neck, and realising what that means. This is an unhealthy system and if he stays in it, this will be his life. The constriction, the desperation, literally struggling to breathe. Echoing Simon's words to him, "I've seen how it makes you feel". Being calm because he's no longer coming from a place of despair, a place where he has no control. And Kristina knows it. It was important for Wille to tell his parents he loves them. He's coming to terms and making peace with everyone.
That closing scene, oh my god. The montage was cheesy as fuck and I am here for it. The dialogue and the execution were not cheesy. They established the important things. Wille is doing this for his sake, not for Simon's. For the first time in his life he is making an informed, calm, active choice.
Simon's FACE. OMG. The shock, barely daring to believe it, but knowing when Wille says 'For my own sake' that this is it. It's real. And then! The tears, the gasping, the incredulous joy! Omar is a natural who stepped it up even more this season, and I do hope he continues to take on acting roles because he is amazing.
Wille's FACE. The joy but more importantly the PEACE.  His entire being, his posture, his aura changes and he radiates rightness. Edvin is incredible.
Also? They both look so, SO beautiful in this episode. This closing sequence, but really the entire episode.
Heading off into the sun, in white, whooping and cheering, Felice with her legs up on the dashboard, free.
And now I want LOADS of future fic about The Adventures of Wille, Simon, Sara och Felice. Tack, Lisa, for leaving it so open for us to do that!

But what was their reaction when they first watched euphoria? Like what was sweet Amelia saying? Doing? Good lord. The absolute hatred they would express for Jacob elordi, like “let’s kill him” was said from someone in the room but no one will confess to it.
WOHO! George Russell, the man that you are! I hope you guys enjoy reading this and send me some request!

No Part 2!!!
Mount Everest ain't got shit on me
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
At first, everything was great. The drivers and WAGs were all thrilled for Amira when she announced her new role in a series called Euphoria. No one thought it was strange that she wouldn’t discuss the plot or her character. The only thing she ever said was, “Maddy is a badass. A real G.” So you can imagine their reactions when the first episode aired.
The drivers, the WAGs, and Roscoe were all gathered in Lewis’s room, scattered around as they waited for the episode to start. Lily and Carmen were excitedly gossiping about the other actors in the series. “Amira told me that Maddy is with Nate, who is played by Jacob Elordi. Guess what? Jacob and Zendaya used to date,” whispered Carmen, eliciting a huge gasp from the other women. Lily’s reaction caused Kika, Lily Z., and Rebecca to crowd around them, all sharing the latest celebrity and paddock gossip. “Is it true that Carlos is going to be the next safety car driver?” asked Lily Z. innocently. Rebecca looked at her confused, while the other three tried to hide their laughter.
Before Rebecca could defend her boyfriend, the opening scene of Euphoria started. And boy, was it an episode. When Amira said that Maddy was a ‘badass,’ they didn’t realize that Maddy Perez was a barely clothed, hot-looking goddess who didn’t shy away from using vulgar language. While the others were impressed by Amira’s acting, Carlos was speechless.
Why didn’t they give her more clothes to wear? And whose idea was the pool scene? Why did Amira’s character have such a bad boyfriend? Is this even allowed? Could he sue the producers? These thoughts were running through poor Carlos’s head. Meanwhile, the others enjoyed watching Amira on screen. Well, they enjoyed almost everything. After the first few Nate scenes, it was clear they didn’t like him.
“I just don’t understand it,” muttered Oscar, hugging a pillow close to himself. Charles, who sat next to him, agreed wholeheartedly. “Yeah, why would Maddy be with him? She deserves much better than this idiot.” “I mean, if I were part of this show, I would treat her like a queen. I would get her flowers every day and walk her home. On rainy days, we would cuddle up, watching one of her favorite movies. And then after date nights, I would take her to bed, kiss her, and we would have a night filled with passion and love…” Pierre said dreamily, a love-sick smile on his face. Kika, sitting on his right, just looked at him with a straight face, saying dryly, “Thanks. Thanks a lot, babe.”
The drivers and WAGs were so engrossed in watching that they didn’t notice Lando taking pictures of Amira every time she was on screen. When he lowered his camera again, he found himself looking straight into George’s eyes. “I—” he couldn’t even defend himself. George just looked him up and down, raising an eyebrow before turning his attention back to the screen and rolling his eyes. Never in his life had Lando felt so humiliated. It was a look that said, “Watch me and my girlfriend become a happy throuple with the girl you’re in love with. You stand no chance against us, Lando Norizz.”
After the end of the first episode, there was silence for a moment. "We should kill Nate" said someone (cough, Alex, cough). For a moment, they all thought the idea over. "I mean, it's just a TV series" tried Rebecca. "Yeah, but if Nate doesn't exist anymore, he can't be mean to Maddy, alias our Amira" stated Carmen, almost sounding bored to even have to explain. "Perhaps, we don't have to kill anyone. But if he wouldn't be found anymore" tried Oscar. Before anyone could say anything else, Charles proclaimed: "I know a guy for situations like this. He can help us. He won't ask any questions and will get the job done. Nice and clean." They all looked at Charles. "What the fuck" beeing the only thing said.
Safe to say, even though they loved seeing Amira on screen (not Carlos, he didn’t like the TV show), they hated Nate. And Checo? He thought because Maddy’s last name is Perez, he and Amira are now related, making him smile like the sun. Whatever helps him sleep at night, I guess.

“You know I can hear you two,” Joel drawls from his spot by the window.
You and Ellie exchange wide eyed glances before erupting into hushed giggles.
“We’re just trying to have a few laughs,” you counter, raising an expectant brow.
Joel levels you with a look that says he’s not amused.
“Come on, one of these has to make that fucker laugh,” Ellie whispers as she turns the page of the book.
She points to a pun and covers her mouth.
“Hey Joel. I’ve got one for you,” Ellie starts. “Doesn’t matter how much you push the envelope…it’ll still be stationary.”
She lifts her eyes from the book and smiles at Joel. He narrows his eyes and purses his lips.
“Shit,” Ellie groans, but despite Joel’s grumpiness she still laughs.
“I’ve seen him smile before,” you tell Ellie. “We can get him to crack.”
She holds your gaze and her eyes soften. “He definitely smiles more since you’re around.”
You give her shoulder a soft bump and whisper a quiet “thanks.”
“Oh! What about this one,” she says excitedly.
“Hey Joel,” Ellie says, grabbing his attention again. “Why did the scarecrow get an award?”
Joel pushes off the wall with a grunt and slings the rifle over his back as he moves past you and Ellie and says, without looking back, “because he was outstanding in his field.”
“You dick. You read this didn’t you!” Ellie exclaims with a laugh.
You try to cover your snort but when Joel turns around with his deadpan expression it only makes you laugh harder.
“Gimme that,” you tell Ellie, reaching for the book. “I’m gonna find a really good one that has to make him laugh.”
After an hour of thumbing through it, your finger running over page after page, you finally find one that you don’t think he can resist. With a pep in your step you trot over to Joel, who is now sitting on the edge of an overturned cabinet, his arms crossed over his chest and an extra grumpy look on his face.
You slip in front of him and rest your hands on his thighs, eyeing Ellie over his shoulder with an assured look.
He remains still, his expression neutral as he holds your stare expectantly.
“Did you know diarrhea is hereditary?”
You ask the question with such sincerity that you see his resolve waiver, his features relaxing just for a moment.
Even so he doesn’t smile.
“What?” he replies.
“It runs in your genes.”
You crack a smile and can’t stop the laughter that escapes as you wait for his reaction.
“Jesus,” he mumbles as he drops his head with an exasperated shake.
Despite his grumbling his shoulders start to jump and it makes you laugh harder.
“That is so god damn stupid,” he says, keeping his face hidden.
“YOU LAUGHED YOU ASSHOLE!” you shout as you dance in front of him.
When he lifts his head you see his slight smirk just before he chuckles again, pinching the bridge of his nose with his fingers.
“HE’S LAUGHING!” you say again, catching Ellie’s eye.
She’s smiles widely before she exclaims, “gotcha fucker.”
He straightens up and puts his hands on his hips, ready to give both you and Ellie a snarky retort but you start to laugh harder, which causes him to do the same.
Without thinking you launch yourself at him and throw your arms around his neck.
With a light ‘oof’ he catches you and at first seems surprised, his body slightly tense, but when you don’t let go he tentatively closes his arms around your waist.
You squeeze him harder and he lowers his head to your neck, your name leaving his lips on a soft inhale.
When you finally pull away it’s only enough to slide down his body and look him in the eyes.
He’s lips are still turned up into a smirk.
“I like this look on you. Not that I mind the grumpiness…considering it’s almost all the time.”
His lips twitch and you can tell he’s fighting a bigger grin.
“You’re allowed to smile you know,” you tease.
“And you’re definitely allowed to kiss her,” Ellie chimes, suddenly standing beside you.
Joel’s eyes go wide and you can feel his fingers dig into your skin.
“Ellie,” you chide, but it comes out soft as you turn to give her a ‘what the fuck’ look.
“What? I’m not blind,” she says, her tone full of sass. “I see the way he looks at you when he doesn’t think you’re paying attention.”
You drag your eyes away from Ellie and find Joel staring at you.
“Ellie,” he says gruffly, his eyes still on you. “Why don’t you go take a quick look around.”
Ellie nods with a sly smile and grabs her gun.
“Don’t forget to…” Joel starts as he turns Ellie’s way but his mouth shuts quickly when she interrupts him.
“I’ll be quiet and check my six, find the high ground and look for tracks,” she says knowingly. “Don’t worry.”
She winks at Joel before smiling your way and turns on her heel, skipping out the door, clearly following Joel’s instructions.
Joel watches her for a moment before he slowly brings his eyes back to you.
“I really have to teach her to keep her mouth shut,” he murmurs.
“Don’t think that’s possible,” you answer, “and besides, I think she’s just what you need.”
He hums low in acknowledgement as he pulls you closer. “Might need a lil’ more than that darlin’.”
“And what might that be?” you ask him.
His eyes drop to your lips as he smooths one hand up your back. His free hand lifts to your face and he presses his fingers under your chin to tilt your head back.
He lets out an exhale, your name a whisper on his lips as he dips his head. He pauses for a moment, his mouth hovering just above yours and he smiles, and you smile back, before he leans in to kiss you.

RAMBLING THOUGHTS AFTER FINISHING PART TWO. GONNA ADDRESS MY P1 THOUGHTS FIRST. SPOILER WARNING.
1 & 2: I think Debling could’ve worked in the second half, and I’m kinda sad Cressida didn’t get a happy ending. The Creloise fell of a CLIFF after ep 5 but I think it could still be saved
5: no cishet man has ever loved his wife more than Anthony Bridgerton I’m gonna be ill
6 & 12: kanthony’s absence was felt BAD in the finale, I think their reactions to LW were sorely needed. Also Jonny and Simone have both said they’ll be at every sibling’s wedding and stick around for years but they missed Francesca’s??? Also felt their absence too much then. They’re both booked and busy I think we’ll continue to only get a couple episodes a season from them
8: Francesca did get to thrive happy in pt 2 my baby I love her
9: I think they managed to disconnect the mondrich plot even further like 😭 once again, I don’t mind them their plot just feels very empty
10: Pen and Delacroix CONTINUE to be my fave duo I love them so freaking much and they can never get rid of it
13: Portia’s growth this season continued to be 10/10 I loved her and Penelope’s relationship it really showed what it’s like to be closely related to people you oppose and the process of needing to forgive and understand them for your own peace of mind
14: that was not how I was expecting Colin to find out about Whistledown
15: Marcus felt a little rushed in part two but I think I need to watch the whole season together to fully decide
17: this was indeed the longest 27 days of my life I got Covid day after it dropped lmfao
MY ~NEW~ THOUGHTS:
We finally got character development from Cressida and if they write her out I’ll be inconsolable (as will Jessica Madsen)
I hope they paid Golda Rosheuvel good for her feet exposure. Worth more than titties in this economy
I feel the need to tell everyone that £5000 in 1815 is in the realm of £500,000 today and we cannot brush over the fact Penelope has made herself the equivalent of a literal millionaire
Anthony has two moods ‘I’m obsessed with my wife’ ‘I want to win this game’ like it is comical how drastically different his facial expression is in the game of charades compared to pretty much every other scene
Anthony saying the marriage is perfect and not hard work and Kate being like BOY I will humble you,,,, doing the lord’s work I love her so much
At some points I felt like Francesca was fighting Anthony for ‘Violet’s least favourite child’ award lmao
John saying he’s off to look at the wainscotting was unfairly funny
Cressida in the red dress is even better than I imagined fuck even if she’s not gay then I am
Peneloise back together the universe is healing I love my babies all we need now is creloise lovers and peneloise friendship simultaneously I don’t like it being one or the other sue me
However much Brimsley is getting paid isn’t enough,,,, Hugh Sachs the man that you are
I adored Penelope’s wedding dress so much and as bitter as I am still about no kanthony wedding in s2, it felt kind of right somehow for Polin to be the first wedding we properly see in this show
Most of the costumes and makeup feel like they got worse,,,,, big ‘I hired a 14 year old’ energy. I don’t need historical accuracy but I would like a modicum of care and the costume/hair/makeup dept looking at a single historical reference from before 1850,,,, please
We all got the bi Benedict we’ve been asking for and I appreciate it, and recognise that he needed Tilley to explore that, but I still would’ve preferred if they first main queer experience was not a threesome
If they go straight into benophie in s4 (which idk, I’m so torn bc I feel like F, E and B all could work well next season) then I also feel like bi Benedict was just them throwing a bone for 5 mins but meant nothing
The CONTENTIOUS Michaela Stirling,,,,, I was undecided until I saw it but that was the definition of gay panic from Francesca and it worked so well I am so excited.
As your resident peerage expert, it is much easier for women to inherit titles in Scotland than England so I wonder (not that anyone on this show knows anything) if that was a reason they chose Francesca to be sapphic [general peerage info and female inheritance info if you care]
On the above, if they can canonically end racism with one marriage then they can end homophobia with one marriage as well
We all know Eloise was the easy and obvious choice to be the queer love story but part of me does kind of like them not taking the easy route, and them going something more unexpected, but that doesn’t mean I don’t want Creloise/Sapphic El like they had eight children let’s be honest
Finch’s sneeze and Phillips’s “now Varely! The bugs!” were unfairly funny
Everything Lady Danbury said to Penelope about suspecting her and what not felt very in character and you can fight with the wall idc
Did they tell us the name of Polin’s baby boy???
Hyacinth saying she thinks of Gregory as the family pet,,,,, girl you an icon walking amongst mere mortals
Predictions I got right:
Anthony didn’t kill Colin, but “are you gonna duel your own brother” lmao I was on the right track
I knew Polin would win the Featherington baby race and I love that for them (but why were Prudence and Phillipa pregnant most of the season, barely showing, Kate was showing almost immediately, and then in the epilogue the sisters all had baby’s similar-ish ages???? Give the writers room a calendar please)
I SAID FROM DAY DOT THAT THE FURNITURE THEY BROKE FROM SEX WAS A CHAISE I CANT FIND THE POST BUT I KNEW IT I FUCKING KNEW IT WHERE DO I COLLECT MY PRIZE SOME OF YOUR GUESSES WERE TRULY FUCKING COOKED
Okay that was too long if you made it this far I’ll make you cookie ily

Can I request a senku x fem reader where she goes with the group to the cave instead of magma and her and senku end up cuddling for warmth and senku is all flustered by it.
WARMTH
"Guess you can still be flustered, huh?"
pairing: senku ishigami x fem!reader
words: 2.9k
genre/s: fluff, comfort?
warning/s: she/her (sorry!), s1 ep 21-22, swearing, mention of tits
synopsis: senku never would have imagined that he'd get flustered over a simple hug (and like it a lot)
masterlist
a/n: i know it's been a year... i got busy, but better later than never! also, while rewatching this episode, i got so emotional like holy sht. the way senku got emotional in this episode just got me tearing up! i love senku so much and i miss dr stone a lot more than i thought i did (IT'S ONLY BEEN A YEAR SINCE IT ENDED LIKE?!?!)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
as the group walked up to the edge of the cliff, the sun rises and the stone in suika's hand glowed bright blue shocking everyone around.
"it's blue... a gemstone," chrome says.
"why is it glowing?" suika asks looking at the rock she's holding.
"oh my god, it's scheelite!" you exclaimed as your eyes sparkled at the gem-like-stone in front of you.
senku smiled at you and exclaimed, "ten billion points for you, y/n!" he then walked forward pointing, and bending down at it. "it glows blue when exposed to ultraviolet light. reactions to ultraviolet light are especially visible right before the sun rises. in other words, only right now."
"a magic stone that glows just for this moment... " gen says with a small smile.
chrome went closer to the stone with a curious face. "i've never seen anything like it," he comments.
"me neither," senku says with sparkles in his eyes. "it's an ultra-rare gem. you guys did an incredibly good job, chrome, and suika. this stuff is used in modern filaments. atomic number seventy-four: tungsten!"
"it's the strongest metal in the universe!" you continued his thought as you kept hitting senku's shoulder in joy and excitement.
"ow~" he muttered holding his shoulder. you quickly wrapped your hands around the shoulder you kept hitting to try and soothe it while giving an apologetic look.
Tumblr media
the next day, everyone gotten ready to make a cave expedition, and by everyone, it's just senku and chrome.
"this small chunk won't be enough, but it came down the stream in the cave. there must be tons further inside. tons of this heat-resistant treasure called tunsten," chrome says as he held up the stone.
"we only have one set of lights left," senku says holding up the said last pair of lights. "the last member of the exploration team will be... magma!" he called out making everyone shock, most especially you. "tungsten's tough as hell. we're going to need brute force to collect it. let's go cave diving. we're a trio of spelunking buddies. to the fun treasure dungeon!"
"buddies?!" magma exclaimed, shocked, and confused.
"senku, chrome, and magma?!" kohaku exclaimed.
"i've never heard of such a risky group," suika says.
"i-i-is that even safe?!" ginrou exclaimed. "he might be like, 'i'm the chief!', and attack you, or something, senku!"
"come on, let's get going—"
"objection!"
the group turned to where you stood firmly with a hand raised in the air. "what is this? a court?" gen commented.
you dropped your arm and stomped your way to senku with a pissed off expression. "you may be a genius, but you're still a dumbass." you looked down at him as you jabbed your finger into his shoulder. you spread your other arm to point at magma. "i do not trust him yet!" you exclaimed, bluntly. "which is why i'll be coming with."
senku deadpanned at you and sighs. "y/n, there's only three lights and we need magma to carry the scheelite," he stated.
you rose a brow and placed a hand on your hip. "oh? and you're saying that i can't do that," you retorted with a challenging tone.
senku's mouth snapped shut. how can he forget? you're a hundred percent the strongest here! he shakes his head. "well, it can't be helped," he says, shocking the rest. he turned to magma and told him, "you heard her. take those off."
"whaaat? that easily?!" chrome exclaimed.
senku shrugs, sticking a pinky in his ear. "i can't really stop y/n from doing what she wants. if she wants to come, let her."
"then who's going to carry the rocks?" gen asks.
"y/n will," senku answers.
"what?!" gen screamed. "i-isn't that a bit...? can y/n even handle it?" his arms waved around.
kohaku crossed her arms. "are you saying women are weak?" she looked at him pointedly.
gen furiously shook his head at her. "no no, of course not!"
"right, i never told you y/n's last name, haven't i?" senku comments as he turns over to you, who's walking over wearing the equipment.
"my full name is l/n y/n," you announced. "i am more than capable of carrying the scheelite." gen starts foaming at the mouth. however, those who aren't from the modern world, they don't understand.
"basically, y/n's family is famous for a lot of crazy things and she's stronger than anyone else here," senku explains. "now let's stop wasting time and go!"
Tumblr media
you and senku followed chrome to the cave where he got the scheelite from where a small stream of water ended. senku dipped his fingers into it. "the water's lukewarm," he mentions with a chuckle. "we can definitely find some treasures."
the three of you ventured deeper into the caves. however, once they got to a certain part, senku immediately noticed something. "get back!" he screamed, extending his arm behind his back.
you and chrome stopped, tensing up. "what's wrong, senku?" chrome asks.
senku bent down, moving carefully, and cracked a piece of the floor. "it's mica. it's like baumkuchen." you let out an 'oooh', but chrome looked confused. "it's a rock that's brittle enough to break with your hands," he says as he tears a layer off of the one he's holding. he then looks up, shining the light in front of him. "look, they're natural pit traps."
the three of you look over to the abundance of pits. "damn," chrome lets out. "nature's traps are nasty."
"is it possible to get out of that once you fall in?" you then asked.
"yeesh, try to get back up with a rope or a ladder and it'll just cave in on ya," chrome grimance.
senku stood back up. a crack, you heard from under his foot. you leaped over and push him away. you tried to land as delicately as possible, but the ground couldn't handle it. a hole formed immediately beneath you, making you fall straight into it. you reached your hand up to try and grab the edge out of reflex. another hand reached out for yours and took hold of it. it was senku's hand... although he is having a hard time pulling you up.
"no, senku! let go! it's going to cave in under you!" you were able to scream out. true to your words, the ground beneath senku did cave in. you both fall into the pit.
"senku! y/n!"
you pulled senku closer to your body, putting an arm under his neck and legs. you quickly moved your body upright and looked down. your feet hit the ground with a thud and you bent down into a squat so that you don't crush your legs. you let out a sigh of relief as you stood back up and gently placed senku down.
"are you okay?" you asked him while removing the stuff behind your back.
senku stares at you dumbfounded. "no, no, are you okay?"
you chuckle. "i'm fine, senku. i continued the momentum, or whatever you call what i just did to prevent shattering my legs," you tell him reassuringly.
"go sit down while i try to think our way out," he says as he walks over to the wall in front of you. you did what he said and sat down, your eyes never leaving him as you didn't want to miss it in case it happens. senku sometimes lets out these cute noises whenever he thinks or tries something out. to your pleasure, he's making the noises! (a/n: bro he's so cute in this scene) you let out a giggle after he slides back down from trying to climb out.
senku turns to you with a raised brow. "what're you giggling about?"
"it's just... you're adorable," you bluntly answer him.
he blinks, then slightly smirks from the familiarity. "how long has it been since you've last called me that?"
"it's been a while that's what," you say with a smile. just then a stream of water flowed down into the cave. you and senku looked up to see chrome peering down, holding a glass bottle.
"chrome, what are you doing?" you ask with furrowed brows.
"if i keep pouring in water from the pond that's nearby, you might be able to swim back out," he explained.
that caught you off guard. you turned to senku and asked, "will that work?"
he starts cackling and from that alone, you already got your answer. "hang on, that's not bad," he says, then raised a finger in front of his face. you perked up, smiling with glee as you listened to senku's calculations tangent. you love it whenever he says his calculations out loud, and he does it with his pointer finger raised in front of him as well! it's adorable... and insanely attractive.
senku lowered his finger and lets out a laugh. he looked up at chrome and shouts out, "chrome, i'm going to tell you how to craft something. can you do it?"
"yeah, of course i can." chrome nods. "don't underestimate chrome the science user!"
after you tossed the bag with the big glass bottles, you waited patiently as you listened to senku instructing chrome on what to do. shortly after, pillars of water starts flowing down into the pit. "huh? how is the water going from low to high?" you and senku heard chrome ask out loud. you giggled as senku explained to chrome what a siphon is.
you looked to see the water slowly, but surely rising from the floor. your feet being already submerged into it. then your gaze went to senku, who's looking up. "are you sure you won't freeze before we could get up there?" you asked with a hand on your hip.
senku turned to you, still looking up. "i did the calculations. it should be fine before we get hypothermia," he says.
you rose a knowing brow. "that's for a normal person, senku, and you're not a normal person." by this time the water is already about half way at senku's body (you're taller than him so it's not really half way at your body yet).
senku stuck his pinky into his ear, shrugging. "it'll be fine," he says.
it was not fine.
the water's only at half way of the pit, but senku's already shaking and chattering from the cold. you slowly floated your way to senku and wrapped your hands around him. this shocked senku, jolting a bit from the sudden touch. "what are you doing?" he managed to ask.
"here, the tits will keep you warm."
senku gapped at you. why are you so goddamn blunt? because of his shock, he missed the part where you gently placed his head on your chest and guided his arms to wrap around your back. "well, aren't you red?" you say with a teasing smirk which brought him back to reality.
"huh?" senku felt flustered and embarrassed. he tried to push himself away from you, but with his strength versus yours... yeah it didn't work. "stop that!" you scolded him. "be glad that it isn't magma who's cuddling with you right now."
senku grimaced at the thought. "don't even mention that!" he exclaimed, looking up at you, making you chuckle. in the midst of your chuckle, he tightened his hold on you, pulling you closer to his body.
"well aren't you bold?"
he looked away, avoiding eye contact and letting his head rest on your chest. "i am doing this for the sake of getting warmth so that we both don't die of hypothermia," he says.
you rolled your eyes. "oh please, just admit you're liking this much more than you thought you did," you teased him.
his ears tipped red as he stayed silent.
Tumblr media
you watched senku and chrome fanboying at the treasure cove of rocks with a smirk. a chuckle left your mouth, but the mood quickly died down as you pressed your lips together. "are you guys done yet? the sun's going to set soon and we should go!"
"ohhh come on! just a little bit longer," chrome whined.
"yeah, after all, we found a mountain of treasure," senku added.
you hooked your hands on the back of the boys' shirt and lifted them up. "when i say let's go, let's go."
the three of you exited the cave and the sun's already setting. "hurry up," you say as you picked the bag senku's carrying and hugged it against your chest. senku looked at you with protest, but you merely rose a brow at him which caused him to back down.
"why are you suddenly in a hurry?" chrome asked, looking slightly confused.
"you'll see."
once the three of you drew closer to the village, you dropped the bag in front of you took and out your makeshift blindfold. "senku dear~ could you wear this for me real quick?" you asked as he turned around.
he rose a questioning brow at you. "and for what y/n?" he asked. but you ignored his question and covered senku's eyes. you picked him up and threw him over your shoulder like a sack. "y/n? y/n?!" you picked up the bag up from the floor and happily jogged back your way to the village while humming.
chrome blinked then ran after the two of you. "what are you doing, y/n?!"
senku now stood in a room, blindfolded and hands tied. he knows that that's your hand on the back of his neck which means you're standing directly behind him.
"hey, senku-chan~ welcome home," gen says in front of senku, but he doesn't know that.
"huh? what's going on?" senku asks with an unwavering tone.
"hah!" kohaku triumphantly laughs. "don't bother trying to call for help, senku. we're all working with gen," she announced.
senku chuckles. "so you bastards finally figured out the hack, huh?" he says. "all you need to do is hand science and my head over to tsukasa, and the village is safe. it's perfectly logical." you could feel him trembling with nervousness. "...leave y/n out of this," he muttered to which only you heard.
gen lets out a short snort. "well, i have no idea what you're talking about, but..." he gave you a nod. you untied his hands and slowly took off his blindfolds.
senku stared in front of him, eyes swirling with nostalgia. you stared at him with a fond smile. it's been a while since you've seen him that emotional. he stepped towards the telescope and peered into it. he took a step back in awe. "an astronomy telescope... or rather, an observatory..." his voice gotten softer by the end. you blinked, trying to get rid of the tears that threatened to fall.
kaseki lets out an excited laugh. "january forth; rock day!" he exclaimed.
kohaku stepped up with a wide smile. "y/n told us it's your birthday today, senku!" she said.
"we all got you a birthday gift!" suika happily announced. senku walked closer to the window to see mostly everyone from the village standing outside.
"y/n told us everything we needed in order to make the telescope, and the whole village worked hard to make the observatory. you're going to have to fine-tune it yourself, senku-chan," gen explained.
ginro approached senku with a smug look. "are senku~ are you moved for the first time in forever? you can cry, you know. you don't need to hold it in," he teased.
"you're so low, ginro," kinro commented.
senku turned to the group with a smirk. "good job, everyone! this is extremely practical. we can use it as our own watchtower against tsukasa," he mentions with a wide cheeky smile.
"y-yeah, that's true," kohaku replies, not sure what to make of his reaction.
"your feedback's as rational as ever," gen comments.
"a guy doesn't bother mentioning his own birthday, and yet..." senku glanced at you. you gave him a smirk and a smug wave. a chuckle escapes his mouth.
"actually, i found out on my own even before y/n said anything," gen corrected to which senku immediately understood and the two conversed on how gen found out.
a while later, it's only you and senku left in the observatory. "did you really think i'd let them hand over your head to tsukasa?" you rhetorically asked. "and also, i can't believe that's the first thing you thought of. do you not have faith in them? you healed their priestess."
senku didn't reply as he stayed silent, looking up at the stars. you sighed as you walked over and hugged him from behind. "are you mad at me for giving away your birthday?" you softly asked. "well, i wasn't planning on giving it away, but gen approached me for a birthday gift idea and... this happened."
"i'm not mad at you, y/n." he rolled his eyes. "it's just..."
your hold on him tightened. "it's fine. i know. you don't have to say anything," you tell him.
senku turned around and wrapped his arms around you, laying his head on your chest. you felt yourself warm up a bit and held him closer. "so i am right." senku lifted his head up to look at you with confusion. "that you're liking this much more than you thought you did," you explained with a smug smirk.
he turned his head away, avoiding eye contact as he stayed silent and his ears tipped red.
