Demon!Rengoku AU, Giyuu x Rengoku

Tanjiro had said the traits Nezuko had as a human were amplified in her demonic afterlife. It would be easier to know which of his traits had been amplified if he could remember more of his own life than foggy vignettes and faded conversations. He remembered not wanting to leave Giyuu with Akaza. He remembered his transfixion with Giyuu’s pale skin, dark hair, those endless eyes.

He’d already moved back from the door by the time Giyuu slid it open. Their eyes met, Giyuu nearly silhouetted by the morning sun that Kyojuro shied away from, but Giyuu dropped his first.

“Giyuu.” Kyojuro called softly. At least that name didn’t feel foreign on his tongue. At least he could look at Giyuu’s lagoon blue eyes and know he’d remember their color later. As Giyuu looked back up at him he realized he had nothing else to say aside from Giyuu’s name. What could he possibly say?

Chapter six of Kiss the Devil is up on AO3!!!!! Featuring deep talks with Tengen and some close contact between Giyuu and Kyojuro as the slow burn heats up!

Hello, I don't know if you accept request but I have some ideas and I thought you might like to write about it. I hope you could make Fluff and angst story about Sanemi and fem reader. The plot is something like, while they were having hashira training they promised they'll retire and get married soon but unfortunately it was the same night that they were called out because Muzan just found the Ubuyashiki mansion.. So infinity castle happen annddd Fem reader died after protecting Genya from the attacks of the upper moon. Sanemi just just arrived and he get to hear her last breath... "Sanemi, do not mourn.. Because someday, in another life, we might have a family of our own.. But now, we still have score to settle... Do what you must..for everyone.... For us."

After that, Senemi give his best and fight. Until it was over. Peaceful at last, but he hope or wish that reincarnation thing happen in the future.. Because he would like to meet fem reader once again.

And it happen in the modern times, she became a wife with their three children and Sanemi was a police officer.

Sanemi waited outside your estate for your training to end. He planned to take you out to eat that night since it was your birthday. When he heard the door open, he leaned up from the wall and looked over at you. A smile crept onto his face when he saw you, you had let your hair down which was a rare sight. “Hey. Gosh you look beautiful.” You giggled as he held out his hand, waiting for you to take it. “Thank you.” “Of course. Are you ready to go?” You nodded enthusiastically.

The two of you were making your way to a nearby village to get food as your favorite restaurant was there. You both talked about retiring soon and starting a family as you were both getting to the age where you wanted to settle down permanently. As the two of you were about to reach it, Sanemi’s crow came flying in frantically. “Emergency, attack at Ubuyashiki Mansion!” You and Sanemi both looked up. “What the fuck?!” Sanemi yelled as he started off running, you behind him. The two of you were about an hour away, you wouldn’t make it in time. “Sanemi what do you think is going on?!” You cried out, looking for a sense of relief. “I don’t know, but it has to be bad.” The two of you continued to follow his crow till you came up onto the mansion. You looked over and saw the rest of the Hashira, even Tanjiro.

As Sanemi tried to run into the mansion, it blew up. He froze almost instantly. You held your hands over your mouth as tears started flowing down your face. “Oh my-!” You screamed. “What is going on Sanemi?!” He looked back at you with a shocked expression. “I-I don’t know.” It was rare that you saw Sanemi show any emotion except for anger, or even love, but this was different..he seemed distraught.

As the flames died down ever so slightly, you all ran up to see if anyone was alive. When you did, you saw a guy standing there in the middle with a woman standing before him, her arm in his stomach. He was being pierced with a bunch of giant thorns. You looked slightly behind him and saw Gyomei. You watched as he tried to behead the guy, but it didn’t work. Suddenly you heard him scream. “Everyone, it’s Muzan!” Another gasp left your mouth. “M-Muzan?!” You looked over at Sanemi and saw a face full of hatred. Suddenly, everyone charged at Muzan. You hesitated slightly, but joined. Multiple breathing forms were called out, but once you reached him, you fell. Everyone fell.

Sanemi had told you about a place that looked like this that him and Obanai fell into. You had unfortunately got separated from Sanemi as you fell. After falling for some time, you were put into a room. You looked around and saw Muichiro and Genya. “Where are we?” You heard genya speak up. “I-I don’t know-“ you cut yourself off as you looked up and saw Uppermoon 1. “Shit.” You quietly mumbled. You looked over at Muichiro who was staring at the Uppermoon. You could see he was trembling. You walked over to him and placed your hand on his shoulder. He looked up at you and saw you had a reassuring smile on your face. “It’ll be okay.” He seemed to calm down a little and nodded. ————————————————————————

The battle with uppermoon 1 was tiring. You and Muichiro were having difficulties fighting with him. You had been knocked back a bit and when you caught your breath and looked up, you saw he was going straight for genya. Being a Hashira meant you had to sacrifice yourself for others, even if it meant you’d be killed in the process. You ran and jumped infront of him, taking the blow that was meant for him. Your legs had been cut off in the process. “Y/n!” Genya kneeled down beside you. You pushed him away. “Genya, help Muichiro, not me.” He fumbled with his hands for a moment before he nodded and got up. You laid there, slowly going numb. That’s when you saw that familiar face: Sanemi. He saw you on the ground bleeding out and he ran over to you.

“Y/n! Oh my gosh, you’ll be okay right? No you will be okay.” He was crying as he lifted you up. “Sanemi, please don’t cry, I hate seeing you cry..” This however made him cry even more. You slowly felt yourself losing consciousness, body somehow becoming more numb. “Sanemi..maybe in another life we will have that family we wanted..but right now you need to leave me here and fight, help Muichiro, Gyomei, and Genya..do what you must. For everyone…for us.” Those were the last words he heard from you as you passed away in his arms. “Y/n? Y/n?!” He tried to shake you, but he was too late. He gently laid you back down and got up, rage filling his body. He joined the others fighting. ————————————————————————

Sanemi lost two people that night. You and his brother. And slowly, he was losing himself. He had heard of a thing called Reincarnation, and he prayed it was real, because it meant he had a chance on meeting you again. Slowly, Sanemi passed away from his injuries. Hoping to see you again. ————————————————————————

You had just finished making dinner when your husband walked in with his police uniform still on. “Hi sweetie, how was work?” He sighed as he took his hat off and put it on the hat stand. “Tiring, but it was good.” You smiled at him as you got the table set. “Well, dinner is ready, go ahead and sit down.” We walked over to you and tilted your head up and kissed you. “Thank you darling.” You smiled at him. You turned away and called for your three girls. “Girls, dinner is ready!” You both heard the slaps of feet on the ground as they ran to the dining room. “Daddy!” The youngest one has yelled. They all crowded him as he hugged them each.

The oldest looked over at the table and made a face. “Mom, you made broccoli casserole again?” You turned your head at her seeing the face she made. “Yes, I did.” You gave her a sweet smile and went back to what you were doing. Sanemi bent down towards them and whispered smth to them. “If you guys eat it, I’ll give you some candy.” Little did he know, you had heard him. “Sanemi, you know they don’t get sweets before bed.” He looked at the girls and saw the pouts on their faces and looked back at you and saw you weren’t paying attention. He turned back to the girl and winked at them. “Oh yeah, how could I forget? Sorry girls, no sweets tonight.” They all smiled at him as they took their seats.

That night was awful. The girls stayed up super late and you knew Sanemi gave them candy. He couldn’t help but laugh when you gave him a small slap on his arm once the girls finally passed out in the living room, 2 hours after their bedtime. ————————————————————————

The Messager God watched you greet the other gods with your signature smile, feeling a sense of suspension the more he watched you.

He really didn't know why, but something about you seemed.. off.

You were always smiling no matter what. Don't get him wrong, he thought you have a pretty smile, but he felt like you were hiding something. Hermes frowned, deep in his thoughts. He felt someone nudge his shoulder and to no surprise, it was his brother Ares, who noticed his brother's staring.

"Never expected you to be staring at (Y/n)." Ares teased, his lips forming a smirk. Hermes never looked at his brother and averted his gaze elsewhere.

"I have no clue what you're saying." Hermes replied, his hands behind his back and his face tinted a slight red. Ares shrugged and moved away from his brother.

Nighttime~~

Hermes was on his way to return to his room when he picked up the sounds of someone softly singing. He stopped, listening to the song very carefully. As a God who loves music, anything related to that always grabbed his attention. Instead, he made his way to the source of the singing, quite surprised to see it was coming from you. Hermes went closer to you, his eyes widen when he saw the tears in your eyes.

"Why are you singing at this time of night?" He asked, watching you jump up in surprise.

"It's nothing. I do this every night. Now please go back." You urged the God, trying to shoo him away. Hermes refused to go until he got the answers he needed.

"Not until you answer my question." The God spoke, staring you down.

"There's nothing to answ-"

"Are you angry?" Hermes cut you off with the very question he wanted to ask since he met you. For the first time, your smile fell. Everything was silent for a while.

"I....." You started off, but your voice was quieter at the last few words.

"I guess you can say that." Your legs curled up to your chest, resting your head on one of your arms.

"I suspected as much. Now, may I ask why?" The God couldn't stop wondering, you thought to yourself. You should at least half expected him.

"Well, ever since my eldest sister was murdered, the anger in me just grew stronger. Deep inside me, there's hatred that I can't quiet." You confessed. Hermes cocked an eyebrow, slightly shocked to hear your confession. This was a surprise on his end...

"I see..." For the first time, he was speechless. He was never told about your past, nor did he even bother asking about it. Well, now he understood why you were visibly upset when you were asked.

"You're actually the first to hear this since I never let myself get too close with anyone." You added, standing up while looking at the dark haired God. Hermes gave you a smile and bow down slightly.

"Would you like me to keep you company?" He asked. You stared at his hand and took it in your hand. You nodded and let him guide you back to your room. Honestly, you could've done it yourself but with all the varying emotions inside you, you just let the god beside you take you back to your room.

"Thank you, Hermes." You whispered, your lips forming your signature smile. This time it was genuine. Hermes bowed his head and made his way to your door. Once the door was closed, you plopped down on your bed, staring up at the ceiling. You took your butterfly pin out of your hair, staring at it while brushing your thumbs along the wings.

You remembered the words your elder sister told you. Before she had to fight and minutes before she drew her last breath.

"We've only had each other for so long after our parents passed away, and we love each other dearly. But I think you should find someone to love. I've already found him, and you need to as well."

"Once you find him or her, Don't push them away. Let them in your heart."

You remember her soft hand holding your cheek while you held her in your arms.

"I'd hate to see the smile I love so much disappear..." Those were her last words before she died in your arms.

You remember sobbing so much you nearly ran out of tears. She was the only person you've truly loved in your life.

Shinobu laughed at his embarrassment

“It’s okay darling, I was just talking to myself about Tomioka”

Tanjiro widened his eyes “Tomioka?! Do you want to kill Tomioka?”

Shinobu smiled, Tanjiro could see her expression twitching

“Yes, he’s quite annoying, don’t you think?” She looked at the desk full of homework she was sitting at, she had a lot to do “but I'm very busy. Oh! I have an idea! Can you kill him for me?”

Tanjiro was scared “WHAT?!”

Shinobu laughed "you're not really going to kill him silly" she got up and went towards Tanjiro

“And then what am I going to do?”

“You’re going to tickle him”

What? Tickling? What was happening? Tanjiro had never thought about the possibility of Gyuu being ticklish.

“H-he’s ticklish?”

“Of course he is! This is how we teach him lessons.”

“And you want me to go teach him a lesson?”

“Yes” she said affectionately, as if she hadn’t just said that she wanted to kill him.

Tanjiro surprisingly broke into a wide smile

"I got it! I loved the task, miss!”

Shinobu laughed “first of all, one thing…”

"Yes?"

“Tomioka won’t crack a smile unless you squeeze his weak spot.”

Tanjiro looked confused “and where is it?”

“Right here” she said giving his knee a squeeze.

Tanjiro jumped back, shaking off the feeling.

“That’s right, darling”

"I understood!" Tanjiro ran out without waiting for anything else.

Shinobu stood still, then laughed

“He will pay you handsomely…” and went back to her work

Tanjiro was already on the other side of the mansion, looking for the water hashira

While running, he bumped into someone

"I'm sorry, I-" Tanjiro looked up

He saw it was Gyuu

“Okay” Gyuu just turned around and tried to move on

"Hang on!" Tanjiro grabbed his arm

The man turned and looked at him blankly “yes?”

Tanjiro blushed, but he felt a glimmer of courage inside him.

“Miss Shinobu told me to teach you a lesson!”

So Tanjiro simply pressed that place on Gyuu's legs and made him fall to the ground.

“What the f-“ Gyuu was choked, he felt the tingling rise up his body and the urge to laugh increase, but what the fuck did Shinobu want now?

“TAHANJIHIRO” he shouted, trying to sound furious, at the same time as he was laughing

“Wow, Tomioka” Tanjiro laughed “I didn’t expect to see you laugh like that”

The man tried to grab Tanjiro's hands, but they were squeezing his entire body at an impressive speed, it seemed like the boy had a lot of experience with this.

“I think you owe her an apology, sir.”

Gyuu shook his head “AHAHA OK OK, I’LL APOLOHOGIHIHIZE”

Tanjiro observed him “your smile is beautiful sir, I think that's one of the reasons why everyone tickles you, to see you smile, isn't it?”

“JUHUST STOHOP” Hashira suppressed his laughter

“Okay, okay, sorry”

The boy stopped

Gyuu let himself melt into the ground, like jelly, he secretly loved the feeling of being melted like this

“I’m sorry sir, orders from Miss. Shinobu” Tanjiro said, giving Gyuu an evil smile, as if to say that he loved it.

The hashira observed the boy, then slowly stood up with a strange smile on his face.

“You better start running, Tanjiro”

“B-but, it was Miss Shino-“

Tanjiro's eyes widened when he saw that Gyuu was going to jump on top of him.

The boy ran away as if using thunder breath, and the man followed, at the same speed.

They say that Gyuu Tomioka is not one to feel sorry for whoever he attacks, poor Tanjiro

Shall we talk ☆Pillar Filler???☆

(As well as the rest of the episode?)

Keeping it behind a cut because it's not yet available for everybody and a lot of people will appreciate being surprised (I know I did)!

First, how about that new OP??

I love how it sets this arc up for being a pause in the constant life or death struggle (for the Pillars anyway, hahaha), and pricks at how the Pillars always feel they are struggling to compensate for their weaknesses, and the inky hatred that fills their hearts which Oyakata-sama knows they've channeled into defeating Kibutsuji Muzan at all costs. I also had a passing thought the other day about how so many Japanese legends of demon slaying require the hero to call upon a non-human higher power, or use something like a poison or alcohol to weaken a demon before they stand a chance of defeating it. In the end, the medicine that Tamayo and Shinobu develop does serve this crucial role (and the sun fulfills the role of a higher non-human power), but it's otherwise ironic that instead of temporarily weakening a demon to their own level, the usual course of action is to use Breath to temporarily increase their power to that of a demon.

Attaining a mark sure increases the role that "temporary" already played in their lives, and it's really no question that they would choose to pursue that option, even knowing the result.

So anyway, onto that filler!!

I loved it.

First, the nitpicking just to get it out of the way: why did a demon need to bother tying up a victim???? Whhhhy? Like, at least they didn't pull a Speedy with some contrived "this demon just toys with victims and leaves them injured instead of killing them" routine that makes for a happy low-stakes Piller Filler episode while showing utter disregard for what demons are and why the Corp risks themselves to stop them. (That said, I always love seeing other Corp members fulfill their own Corp duties with no relation whatsoever to Tanjiro, who is just one piece of a much, much larger whole.)

But rather than write what would ultimately be stupid dialogue with an insignificant filler demon, it's nice that Ufotable did not bother developing the Castle Demon. The totally undeveloped baddies are easy to cast off as Blood Technique (but maybe they could have looked a little cooler if, like, they were vaguely wearing samurai armor or something instead of just being in skin suits? Whatever, not important.) I appreciate that Ufotable did not bother to answer these questions of "why is the victim tied up" because the point of this scene was very obviously not about her or the demon. (I like to think Iguro cut the ropes and then told her to get to safety but just, like, left her there on the top roof).

So as for what this scene WAS for... hot dang, did it accomplish that!!!

The purpose was to make Sanemi and Iguro look cool, and it sure as hell did that. WHAT GOOD CHANBARA, those show-offy sword-play moves against a mob of nameless villains were just so deliciously well choreographed, and the people who can appreciate that were also likely to really appreciate the use of a castle as a purely fun battle setting. Ufotable was probably like, "Our biggest fans are nerds for KnY's touches of traditional Japanese folklore and culture, and for swords and swordplay, so you know what else will probably get them riled up? Yeah, let's give them a castle fortress."

And then everyone cheered, like, "Yes, yes, the fangirls like demonslayedher on Tumblr will never know what hit them."

But then some brilliant person spoke up and said, "You guys, I have the perfect finishing blow."

And everyone said, "What? How could we possibly top this scene that not only purely makes Sanemi & Iguro look cool, but also serves their characters and the plot nicely by showing how the Pillers don't feel they can rely on the other Corp members, and that even though they speak sharply to them they show concern for them by their actions? You know, especially slyly since anime-only fans will get to appreciate a new side of characters whom they haven't gotten to bond with much yet for only having seen their mean sides mostly and none of their battle coolness, and also slyly because the hardcore manga fans know that these two are buddies?"

And then the brilliant person says, "Let's give them that fortress."

The brilliant person was then crowned Ruler of Ufotableland and the fans lived happily ever after.

Speaking of Pillar Filler, I also want to point out how nice that opening exposition between Shinobu and Kanao was. First, what a nice way of incorporating Kanao into a nice episode that gives us a nice little dose of everyone in the Corp cast, even by adding that little scene of Amane and Ubuyashiki too. I loved the little touches that develop the Butterfly Mansion, like the fact that on the path there, they have a stone sign that says "Butterfly Mansion" and a line of carved Jizo statues (to protect travelers and (deceased) children) with little butterflies. And that moment of Nezuko frowning as the sunlight goes behind a cloud? Wonderful. And Shinobu essential saying to Kanao, "I trust you with defending everyone here in the now VERY LIKELY EVENT OF KIBUTSUJI MUZAN ATTACKING while I have to go off to a Pillar Meeting now that you're back"? I looooove iiiiiiiiit. That also says a lot about the trust other Pillars have in Shinobu to entrust her with Nezuko instead of putting any pressure on her to take part in Pillar Training, as clearly they don’t know about Tamayo, and it's really anyone's guess if they know about the poison or not (though the light novel implies Himejima might have an inkling but doesn't know). Being Pillars, though, I doubt any of them would tell her she's wrong for being prepared to take down a demon in any possible way.

I love, love, love, love the treatment of all the straight-from-the-manga scenes, like "Welcome home, Inosuke" (except for the added 'did you miss me, Aoi-chan' because canonically Aoi is the one kind of girl who is not his type), Tamayo speaking with Oyakata-sama's bird, Mitsuri's "explanation" of the mark, and every single Pillar interaction. I love the amount of respect they show to Himejima (and how Ufotable slightly expanded on this), and I am so excited for the extra Himejima content this season. In the new marketing materials released on the same day as the episode/movie, they make stark use of one of the kanji characters in his name ("cry out"), which is a very nice touch. And the use of BGM!!! Especially the touches of Giyuu's and Mitsuri's themes during the meeting!

You were walking on the trail close to Gyomeis' mansion, when you suddenly heard crying. "Huh? That voice sounds familiar..." carefully strutting up to the door, you recognised who it was "Genya?" You asked quietly, trying not to alarm the other demon slayer. "W-wh, the hell are you doing here?!" He exclaimed louder then intended. "Sorry I-uh.. I just heard crying, is everything alright?" He had teary eyes, clearly he has been crying for a while now. "Ugh! Ju-st leave me alone!"- Interrupting him a bit, you told him "Y'know, if you need someone to talk to I"m here for you..." now whispering, he thought about sharing it with you, so he softly started talking about the relationship with his brother. "A-and I just don"t know what to do anymore.. It's like he does actually hate me. I can't get him to talk to me, no matter how hard I try!" Tears flowing as he said those words, you didn't know how to answer. Patting his back and remembering what Tanjiro said back at training "I'm sure his brother doesn't hate him.. I couldn't smell any hatred towards him!" Before you could say anything, he quietly mumbled those words you never wanted to hear from him "Do you think.. my brother actually hates me?" You quickly sat up and shouted "that is absolutely not true! He loves you! I'm sure he does! He just has a hard time realizing it!" He stared at you with puffy eyes, not knowing what to say, he looked outside the window. "Do you really think so?" You sit closer , whispering to him "I know he does. Trust me, you dummy" he smiled, wiping his tears away. Getting a bit flustered when he realized he has been holding your hand for quite a while now. A few minutes later, you asked him if he wanted to continue the trail with you. He nodded, and swiftly got up. Continuing the trail, picking flowers, both of you realizing how good eachothers company is.

However, beneath her kindness lies a deep hatred and animosity towards Muzan for killing not only her family but others, and she becomes incredibly enraged by the Gods’ and even her God Opponent’s comments during her fight with their desire to end humanity, thus she very coldly and emotionlessly asks them “Such disregard for human life. What’s so amusing about this? What do you take a human life for, exactly?” Which shakes everyone, even her opponent to their core since the whole time Y/N’s been encountered she’s been nothing but warm and kind, help others

However the fight ends with Y/N refuses to kill her opponent, stating that he has a family that no doubt doesn’t want to lose a loved one and he can learn to be humble, only for him, in an act of hatred target an attack at her sister, which she rapidly runs at her and takes the hit, with her opponent trying to kill Y/N for embarrassing him for losing to a Human (Only for one of her Yandere’s to swoop in and quickly kill him because he couldn’t take his loss)

-Many knew about you, gods, demons, and humans around Valhalla, you were a swordswoman, looking for a cure for your sister, who had been turned into a demon by a cruel demon when you were on earth, killing the rest of your family.

-You spent time wandering around earth, looking for a cure for Nezuko, before you were both sent to Valhalla after an accident.

-You were grateful for Nezuko being transported with you, as you didn’t want to lose her, but as she was now technically dead, she wouldn’t burn away in the sun, so she had fun playing in the warm sunshine after so many years being locked away.

-You were a sweet person, always willing to help others, running errands, carrying Nezuko in her box with you, babysitting both human children and god children, keeping them occupied, all with the hopes of getting information that would help change Nezuko back.

-Many were stunned that you were so sweet and gentle to everyone, despite losing your family, the challenges you faced becoming a Demon Slayer, and dealing with not being able to protect Nezuko when you were alive.

-You kept the negative emotions locked away, not wanting anyone to see them, as you were in a better place now, a place full of magic and powerful people, never giving up hope that Nezuko would be healed and then everything would be all right.

-You met all sorts of people in Valhalla, gods and humans and a few demons who were willing to speak with you, making friendships all over the place with people who liked you, they could tell you were strong, but you were so gentle at the same time.

-You didn’t hesitate to fight for humanity when asked, because it you died, Nezuko would be all alone, as she was a demon.

-Your opponent was a cruel man, who delighted in killing humans for fun, toying with you, even being so bold as to trying to attack the box on your back that kept Nezuko safe, as you needed the weight to balance you out, as you trained with her on your back, you needed her.

-Nezuko was allowed to be there on your back in her box, but she was not allowed to fight alongside you, something you had to tell her which made her pout, but she promised not to fight.

-You had a deep gash in your side, a stab wound that he pulled out sideways, and you had blood dripping down one eye, blinding you temporarily, panting heavily as your god grinned evilly, “You’ve been so much fun to play with! I can’t wait to end you!”

-You swallowed hard, your gentle eyes narrowing into a dark glare, “What’s so amusing about killing another? Is killing humans something you gods enjoy doing?”

-Your words shook many people to the core, gods included as your rage bubbled over, furious at Muzan for killing your family and changing Nezuko, taking everything from you, and to hear this god laughing, thinking killing humans was an amusing thing, you looked downright murderous.

-You set Nezuko’s box down and she popped out, calling out to you from behind her mouthpiece, “Stay there Nezuko.” She nodded, peeking out of the box as she could tell you were mad.

-You easily charged at your opponent, slicing off an arm, the same one he admitted to ripping the hearts out of humans with, making him scream before you leapt back, “You bitch!” you charged again, easily disarming him of his weapon, stabbing him in the leg before leg sweeping him.

-You pointed your sword right between his eyes, glaring down at him, “Unlike you, I’m not a monster. I will spare your life. Return to your own family.”

-Jaws were dropped all around as you were announced the winner, turning from your former opponent who was in shock that you spared his life, even after he threatened your own, even Nezuko’s.

-The god then shouted, “Don’t fuck with me!!” he leapt up and darted at you, but he went right past you, lunging for Nezuko.

-Your eyes went wide as he lifted his other hand, going to pierce her and you had never moved so fast before, leaping in front of her, his hand going right through your midsection.

-You coughed out blood as you fell, a grin appearing on his face as he laughed cruelly as Nezuko was in tears, holding you as you couldn’t breathe.

-He picked up your sword, ignoring the crowd and the orders to stand down, going to kill you both and instantly he froze, his head being sliced clean off.

-Your vision was blurry, unable to see who saved you, but Nezuko called out, so you knew it was someone you both knew as she would have growled otherwise before everything went dark.

-You woke up what only felt like hours later, but the valkyrie nurse who was there was so happy to see you awake, telling you that you had been out for almost two weeks now.

-You tried to look around, looking for Nezuko before the door opened, and you relaxed, seeing Nezuko in the arms of-

-Hercules- He was beaming brightly, seeing you awake as Nezuko leapt out of his arms, her arms going around your neck as she was in her child form, patting your head gently. You couldn’t move but you were able to brush your cheek against her, “Nezuko- are you all right?” she pulled back, her hands on her hips, looking a bit smug, completely fine before Hercules spoke, sitting next to you on the bed, “She is safe Y/N, you kept her safe.” His large hand was warm as it cupped your cheek as you asked what happened. He looked a little embarrassed, pulling back, “I-I didn’t want to lose you, Y/N. When I saw him go after your sister, I couldn’t stop myself and I killed him right after he stabbed you.” You smiled softly up at him, your eyes closing, “Thank you Hercules, I’m glad you were there to save us both.” He beamed and told you he was going to remain nearby, as he wanted to make sure you were okay.

-Jack- He exhaled as he saw that you were awake, seeing the nurse had told him the truth, as Nezuko wiggled out of his arms, running over to you, her hands cupping your cheeks as you smiled up at you, “Nezuko…” Jack took a seat next to you, brushing your bangs out of your eyes, “I’m glad to see you finally awake. You gave us all quite a scare back there.” You apologized, your voice weak, but he wasn’t angry, sighed softly as the back of his hand brushed against your cheek, “I’m just glad that you’re all right, Miss Y/N. Miss Nezuko and I have been quite worried about you.” Nezuko nodded in agreement, calling out slightly from behind her mouthpiece as he spoke again, “I am truly grateful I was able to get to you both in time. When I saw him stab you, I-I don’t think I’ve ever been so angry.” You gave him a soft smile, thanking him for being there, which made him smile.

-Thor- He seemed to deflate if you had to describe it, his shoulders sagged lightly as he relaxed, seeing you smile over at the two of them. He set Nezuko down on your bed and she was instantly hugging you, crying loudly, her arms around your neck, Thor saw you wince once or twice, but you did nothing to reprimand her, you couldn’t. You smiled at Thor, a soft look in your eyes as he spoke, “How are you feeling?” you swallowed hard, your throat a bit dry, “Sore, but that means I’m alive, right?” he chuckled softly, taking one of your hands, holding it carefully, “You are, only barely. You gave the nurses a few scares.” He felt you squeeze his hand gently before he spoke, “We’ve been visiting you every day since you were brought here. Nezuko is stronger than she looks.” She puffed up, looking a bit smug while you chuckled softly, smiling up at him, “Thank you for saving us, Thor.” He nodded softly, giving your hand a small squeeze, “I didn’t want to lose you.” His declaration was surprising, but you smiled softly, your eyes closing.

-Loki- Almost instantly both of them were on your bed, crying loudly as they hugged you, you groaned out in pain and Loki pulled back, “You’re awake! You’re really awake!!” you were very weak, smiling up at him as your eyes were a bit hazy, “What happened?” he pulled back, sitting next to you, pouting, “That dummy went to attack this cutie here-” ruffling Nezuko’s hair which made her laugh lightly, “-before you took that blow. I then separated his head from his neck for touching you.” Your eyes were a bit wide before you smiled, a few tears slipping from your eyes, which Nezuko tried to brush away carefully, “Thank you Loki, for saving us.” He puffed up, his hands on his hips, “Well of course, why wouldn’t I? I’m not going to let some low rate god take away two of my most favorite people in the world!” Nezuko leapt into his arms, hugging him as you smiled up at him, hearing his words. Loki was blushing only slightly, realizing what he just said, but smiled down at you as he hugged Nezuko.

-Hades- You breathed in, seeing Nezuko was safe, her arms waving at you, wanting to get to you as Hades brought her over, setting her on the bed, “Careful now, Y/N is still in pretty rough shape.” Nezuko had her arms quickly around your neck, crying loudly, glad that you were awake. He saw your arm shake as you went to try to hug Nezuko, but he sat next to you, taking your hand, “Rest now, Y/N, you’re very weak. You’ve been out for almost fifteen days now.” You nodded, giving his hand a small squeeze and he stroked the back of it with his thumbs as he explained to you what had happened as you couldn’t remember anything other than that god going after Nezuko. He reached up, brushing a tear from your cheek, which surprised you as you didn’t realize you were crying, rubbing your cheek lightly, “I killed him after he tried to kill the two of you.” You smiled up at him, thanking him for rescuing you before he smiled, keeping his hand on your cheek, stroking gently, “Why wouldn’t I? You two have managed to worm your way into my life, I can’t imagine a day without seeing the two of you.” Nezuko held her cheeks in embarrassment which made Hades flinch before he laughed warmly, not bothered by his confession.

-Poseidon- You were surprised to see Poseidon there as he came over, sitting beside you and he opened his arms, letting Nezuko go as she sobbed loudly, her mouthpiece falling off. Your own tears welled and quickly fell as well, but Poseidon wasn’t bothered, brushing yours away gently, not liking the sight of seeing you in tears. He couldn’t believe that he was soft for not only a human, but a demon as well, as he grew attached to Nezuko, as he had been the one caring for her, bringing her to visit you every day. However, seeing you smiling up at Nezuko, speaking softly to her to calm her down, he was okay with it. Your eyes shifted to Poseidon, your voice weak, “What happened?” he was concerned that you didn’t remember anything from the incident, and he explained that you were nearly killed after protecting Nezuko and he intervened and decapitated the god who put his hands on you. He cupped your cheek, surprising you only for a moment as he glared, showing his emotions in his own way, “No other man is to touch you again. I’ll kill them.” You smiled softly up at him, hoping he was joking as you thanked him, making him relax only slightly.

-Buddha- Sighed deeply in relief, “Thank goodness you’re finally awake.” Nezuko instantly was in your arms, hugging you tightly, ignoring your groan of pain as Buddha approached, seeing a box of candy down for you, “Nezuko’s been dragging me here each day. She’s- sorry- we’ve been very worried about you, Y/N.” you smiled gently up at him, thanking him for his kindness after learning that he had been looking after your sister for the past several days. Buddha laid down beside you, propping his head up on his elbow as his other held your hand gently. You didn’t mind, as you were used to his openness with you and Nezuko, as he liked you both. You lost count on how many times he had fallen asleep on your lap, Nezuko on his chest. He told you about what happened after Nezuko fell asleep, laying her head on your chest. You were shocked that he came to your defense before he grinned down at you, “I wasn’t going to let my favorite napping buddies get hurt.” You smiled softly at him as he stroked the back of your hand with his thumb gently.

-Zerofuku- Instantly both Nezuko and Zerofuku were in your arms, crying loudly, both of them so happy that you were awake. Brunnhilde had to come in and pull them both off of you, scolding them gently that they had to be gentle with you, as you were still heavily injured. You couldn’t help but smile as they both sat on either side of you on the bed, Nezuko holding one of your hands up to her head, making you pat her head while Zerofuku was holding your other, “Miss Y/N I’m so happy you’re okay! When you took that blow for Nezuko I got so scared that I jumped out of the stands! When I saw him going to hurt you again, I got so mad that I killed him!” you squeezed his hand smiling up at the young god who had become basically your little brother and Nezuko’s big brother. Zerofuku was worried that you were going to hate him for killing another, as he remembered your words, his eyes full of tears, “You don’t hate me, do you Y/N?” you smiled softly, and Nezuko help you put your hand on his head, patting gently, shocking him as you smiled, “Killing another to protect someone should be the only reason to kill, not killing just for fun. I’m proud of you, Zerofuku.” He beamed at you and instantly they were both in your arms again, hugging you tightly which made you chuckle softly.

I find gyutaro really interesting because to be honest, I don't really understand him. In a way that makes me want to know more.

He says he likes pitiful and ugly things, and finds it funny/cathartic to bully people, even outside of his demonic need to kill. His entire purpose, his name, identity, is built around daki. To me, he seems to be much more motivated by his love for daki than his hatred for everything else. Does he really like pitiful things? Or just he just like having the ability to punch down?

And oh boy I could write you a whole freakin' essay on my thoughts and feelings about Gyutaro's character profile. The short answer is: both? Both is good. My dude has been sitting on rancid vibes his whole life AND death; no therapy, medical attention, or social support network. He was let down, and he's still angry about it, and the only person who never let him down was Daki. The slightly longer 'Charlie Day standing in front of a conspiracy board' ramble under the cut. Sorry it's a little rushed, I'm shooting from the hip here.

I will say I don't think it's impossible for a character to have multiple motivations as long as they don't contradict each other too much. He can be motivated by spite AND codependency. Sure, he's devoted his entire identity and career and autonomy to Daki, but he seemed to still remember his grudge against humanity as a demon. Their synchronized villain monologue was literally about taking fortune from others, so that they could live better lives. And that kind of self-righteous sadism goes hand-in-hand with how much he loves Daki. He'd been rejected by humanity, so he rejected them back. The only person who didn't mistreat him was Ume. Society adored Ume for her beauty, so he taught her to make that into a weapon. Which is awesome-- she stands up for herself and knows her worth-- but it eventually twisted into something awful when she's matured as a demon and just uses violence for almost every problem she has.

As for his sadism... again, I think it's not a case of one or the other. When Gyutaro was demeaning Tanjiro, many folks caught on to the way he was using words and insults that had once been reserved for him as a living person. That grudge carried over beyond the demonic amnesia, and it feels sincere and personal. I think he projects hardcore. He likes pitiful and broken things because hey, it's not HIM who's pitiful and broken, but unconsciously, he knows he used to be in that position. He's the powerful demon, he's the one who gets to be in a position of control now. And what did people in a position of control do for him? Well. Throw rocks and call names and bully.

I think his idea of sympathy is twisted too. I've expressed before how his affections tend to root in possession and domination, and so he relates to people with shitty lives by taking control of them. Again, like with Daki. He adores her so much and wanted a happy life for her, and she would probably agree she IS happy as an oiran given every privilege one could have. But she doesn't know that there's more to life than being an oiran and hurting others for your own gain. His ideology was literally what raised her, so her perspective is as rotten as his, resulting in an echo chamber. When Gyutaro began to offer Tanjiro demonhood, it wasn't out of a place of sympathy. It was out of a place of control-- he even threatened to kill Nezuko if Tanjiro didn't take up his offer. That's peak crab-bucket behavior: he wanted to make things worse for the Slayer siblings, even if he would argue the opposite. So I think yes, he likes pitiful things, but not in a healthy way. And yes, he likes to punch down, because that's what pitiful things are for, according to Gyutaro.

In the finale battle where Tanjiro! Reader finally meets Muzan again. They express their hatred towards him and how their going to laugh as he burns in hell.

Muzan isn't trying to kill them but instead inject his blood into their vessel so they can mind control them to be his child and fight for him.

When he finally does so, and Tanjiro! Reader becomes a demon while Nezuko becomes a human.

The hashira and their friends have to now fight off and kill Muzan and his child..

Tanjiro Kibutsuji! Reader...

When the Markiplier Egos go to the battle grounds and see Tanjiro! Reader, they realize that they failed to save their child/sibling, the one person they vowed to protect with their lifes.

You were on the ground injured as Muzan hit you, he was crouching in front of you as he looked for something. “I hate you so much…you took away my mother and siblings, you took away the people who taught me how to love and be myself, you turned my sister into something that she’d hate, you killed innocent people for your selfish benefit. You never cared for others and just wanted entertainment so here’s your entertainment bitch! I’ll see you in hell!” You started laughing to distract yourself from the pain. Muzan hated hearing those words from his child but they just need a reminder of who their real dad is…he just needs to finish injecting his blood in you.

Soon you blacked out…Muzan smiled as he knew the process was starting. His child was coming back to him. Soon others arrived. “MUZAN GET THE HELL AWAY FROM Y/N” he just chuckled. “Seems your to late” they were confused as he brushed some hair out of your face as you groaned. “My child has finally come to their senses” everyone’s eyes widen…that fucker did something to you and they could tell as when your eyes opened..they no longer were your eye color..no..they were Muzan’s eye color. “There we go. Now time to get rid of you pest”

They failed you…they failed to save their child..they failed to save their sibling…the one person they vowed to protect for all their lives. Maybe they can do something to knock you out of this but even if they do this guilt they have will never go away….they didn’t protect you like they promised

Okay 2022, Let’s Talk Anime & Games

Hello and welcome to my annual list of things that tickled me this year. Wait, that sounded wrong. Oh well! The anime seasons this year blew the roof off this mother. We got exciting new animes. We got the return of old favorites. We got the most surprising shocks that no one expected to happen. It was one hell of a year. You all know how I roll. Anything I watched or played this year can go on this list, even if it didn’t come out in 2022. So, if an anime or game came out in a year when Betty White was still alive…I’m going to sigh melancholily and allow it. Let’s hit it!

First Fandom of 2022: Demon Slayer - Entertainment Arc

I know this series is totally popular due to the manga, the Mugen Train arc, and all that jazz. But the Entertainment Arc was something to behold. I never thought this season could surpass episode 19 from the first season, but I’m eating crow and giving this all the praise. This season was fabulous in terms of music, animation, character, nearly everything. The mere fact that nearly half of the episodes of the season were dedicated to the major fight against the demons of this arc means we were in for one hell of a showdown. Studio ufotable has done it again in the animation department. Uzui may not have been as popular as Rengoku, but he still got the job done. Now I’m wondering if the next season will top the Entertainment arc.

Favorite Main Character of 2022: Marin Kitagawa from My Dress-Up Darling

I didn’t want to leave this year without giving some sort of praise to the first waifu of 2022. And out of all the “seasonal waifus” to come across in 2022, I really liked Kitagawa the most out of all of them. She was just so wholesome and yet quirky at the same time. I’m sure many people can relate to Gojo by hiding something their passionate about. But imagine his surprise when Kitagawa learns of his love for hina dolls, her reaction was of absolute joy and excitement. Kitagawa did a lot for this shy boy with a unique hobby. She was able to bring Gojo out into a new experience with cosplay. She supported him, aided him, and was just an overall great supportive friend that he's never had before. We need more Kitagawa in our lives. Thank God this series got a second season by popular demand.

Favorite Villain of 2022: Gyuutaro & Daki from Demon Slayer – Entertainment Arc

I know it seems like I’m dick-riding Demon Slayer, but this was a very good season. And one thing Demon Slayer does right is writing bad guys for their series. I was really close to giving this slot to Eren Yeager for obvious genocidal reasons, but I really don’t want to give him anything. Although, he does get most satisfying scene where a person gets their head ripped off award. Back to the sibling demons! You really can’t blame them for their hatred of the people of the Red-Light District. If you were in Gyuutaro’s position, you would want to protect your sister by any means. Yes, that includes turning into a demon if a sexy demon with the voice of Mamoru Miyano tells you to do so. And let’s not forget that they gave Tanjiro, Zenitsu, and Inosuke a hard-fought battle. They have such a hard time taking out Daki that non-manga readers were shocked to find out this demon fight is a 2-for-1 deal. Because of these two, I was at the edge of my seat the entire rest of this arc.

Favorite Video Game Character of 2022: Arven from Pokemon Scarlet & Violet

If not for this one character, this category would have gone to Mai from the Legends Arceus game. She’s Marley’s ancestor and is mucho helpful, what more can I say? But as for Arven, he changed my first impressions of him almost instantly. At the beginning, you think he’s just an angry senpai with an unhealthy love for sandwiches. But then we learn what he’s really after and go even further with his own backstory. He defies death with titan pokemon just so he can help cure his doggy pokemon. That doggo was his only companion because his parent was never around. So, you can understand how Arven would do anything for that doggo. That alone makes me want to give this boy a medal and a hug. *sniffles* Because his parent won’t do so. And then we get to The Way Home arc of the game and…give this boy a medal, a sandwich, and five more hugs. Because his parent won’t do so…not anymore. *sniffles* So yes, Arven. Best video game character of the year. Give it up!

Favorite Game of 2022: Pokemon Legends Arceus

This year, I was quiet in the gaming department. I only bought three games and two of those were Pokemon related. As much as I loved the story to Scarlet and Violet, I can’t forget about Legends Arceus because the new flavor of the month came along. This was such a fun and interesting story to play along with. I will admit, I wasn’t excited prior to the game’s release, but once I got the hang of the game’s mechanics, this game really took off. Consider this to be the edgier Pokemon game. It has a more serious tone compared to others and the scent of death looms on you. While it's always nice to see new Pokemon games advance as technology does the same. Going back in time to a region that no longer exists with pokemon that are quite possibly extinct and characters that resemble those of current Pokemon games time. It makes me wonder if we’ll get more Pokemon games that focus on the past. People thought a Celebi game would have been perfect, but thanks to the paradox pokemon of Scarlet, I have to wonder if that would have been perfect for a future game project. I digress. This one is my choice.

Favorite Het Couple of 2022: Miyuki Shirogane x Kaguya Shinomiya from Kaguya-sama - Love is War

I was set to give this to My Dress-up Darling for the cuteness, but this third season here pushed this couple to being number one. In the past two seasons, I was watching to see if these two would ever come forward and say what we’re all waiting for them to say. This season, we saw that these two were not only ready, but on a time-crunch to say it. So, for fuck’s sake you two, stop pussy-footing around and get to it. It was clear in past seasons that Miyuki and Kaguya liked the other. It was only this season that not only did they act upon it but actually admitted it either out loud or with a close confidant. I have to keep my mouth shut about the third season finale because of massive spoilers, but it’s because of that moment that’s made me cheer on these two.

Favorite Yuri Couple of 2022: Chisato Nishikigi x Takina Inoue from Lycoris Recoil

I know this isn’t a full set-sail couple like all of the other couples I’m mentioning here. I support this kinda the same way I support ships from Railgun and Index. If you spend an episode with a fascination of another girl’s underwear, I’m going to make the Raildex comparison. Takina, stop being so Misaka Mikoto. Those boxer shorts aren’t doing you much favors. Maybe this is a case where I’m putting more into something that isn’t really there. But the hints are still favorable. I mean, Takina was willing to track down Chisato no matter where she goes. Will they truly get together? Who the hell knows and probably not. But I’m not going to stop thinking about it.

Favorite Yaoi Couple of 2022: Shuumei Sasaki x Yoshikazu Miyano from Sasaki to Miyano

This is the first yaoi anime I’ve watched in a while that didn’t consist of a toxic relationship or a relationship built around lies or anger. This was quite wholesome. It’s like if Bloom Into You was a Yaoi. There was a connection between both boys. Bubbles would fly around them whenever either of them felt a certain emotion around the other. It was that sugar-inducing, but who cares?! I’m glad this series is continuing in film form and that other characters of the series are getting more screentime. I’m more interested to see how far Miyano and Sasaki will go considering Sasaki is inching closer to graduating high school.

Fandom That You Didn’t Expect to Get Into: Ascendance of a Bookworm

Oh look, another Isekai made it onto this category. Isekais have kinda gotten on my skeptical radar on whether or not I’m going to enjoy them. Spoiler alert, I enjoyed this one. Mind you, I’m only halfway into the second season as of writing this entry, but so far this is turning out better than I anticipated. This is the story of a girl starting at 0 to get what she really wants. And that is to read books! Myne is pretty much starting from scratch of wanting to read a book. Fandom That Made An Unexpected Comeback: Pokemon Journeys

Oh my God, where do I even begin with you? I had an up and down relationship with this series. I got into it heavily in the beginning, fell off when it gave me some unbelievably stupid fillers, scratched my head at some decisions that were made…but then it gave us the Masters 8 tournament. Say what you will about the quarter-final matches, this was the only time the anime was ever going to give us something like this. And without dipping into the spoilers too heavily, I was not disappointed when it came to some of the people Ash fought against. Iris and Diantha on the other hand, I was pretty saddened by those outcomes. This series will always upset me for the mere fact that they really did gloss over a lot the Galar region had to offer in terms of places, people, and pokemon. But this year, I was heavily into the Pokemon Journeys series mostly thanks to Ash entering the Pokemon World Championship. Leon, Cynthia, and Steven are major heavy-hitters and finally seeing most (if not all) of their team in battle was a sight to behold.

Fandom That Inspired the Most Crack: Spy x Family

Shit, these memes! They’re everywhere! Anya’s smug face, Mr. Herriman’s elegance, Anya’s smug face, Yor’s sex appeal with lack of cooking appeal, and did I mention Anya’s smug face! This series was a hoot to watch from week to week. Chainsaw Man might be the internet’s new flavor of the month when it comes to memes, but Spy x Family wins it for me this year. Yes, the story is awesome with a spy given a mission to start a family in order to prevent political fallout with a neighboring country. He adopts a child who seems to be a mind-reader and marries a woman who is really an assassin. And none of these characters have exposed themselves as what they really are. Call it a disfunction, but the Forgers are able to make things work. I love everyone here and am enjoying everything that’s going down.

Last Fandom of 2022: Chainsaw Man

Let’s just say that anybody with a penis has screamed this series praises even before it became an actual series. And this fall season has been very testosterone-heavy with the return of Bleach and Mob Psycho, but this series still held its own. And it is my favorite of all of them! Studio Mappa pulled out all of the stops with this series. Chainsaw Man is literally about a man named Denji who can turn into chainsaws. That’s the non-spoiler way of saying what the show is about. The story and animation draw me in week after week. The opening theme is a massive banger. Even all of the ending themes are something not to be skipped. Especially when you learn about the passion put in all 12 ending songs. Everything in this anime has been awesome. I think it’s because I’m still on a high after seeing Makima’s power revealed, but I have high hopes for the rest of this season and possible future.

And that was my 2022. It has been…something…something…Oh, I can’t hold it in any longer. I’ve been super tame with this list and it’s time for me break loose.

Best Character of 2022: Tracey Sketchit from Pokemon Journeys

He watched Ash compete in the Masters 8 tournament. THE WHOLE THING! He stood up and cheered his heart out even though we couldn’t hear Tomokazu Seki. Where was Misty and Brock? We only saw those two losers at the end of the tournament. Tracey watched the whole thing. WHILE STANDING! He let Professor Oak and Mrs. Ketchum sit while he stood alongside the pokemon, cheering on Ash to possible victory. Did you see my baby high-five Ash’s older pokemon? Yeah, he did. And that elbow-bump between him and Snorlax! I’m glad they made amends after Snorlax ate Tracey’s apple. I remember. We all remember!

I don’t care if this game came out in 2000, I never got to play it until this year. I love puzzles. I love Tracey Sketchit. Ergo, this game is fucking awesome. 8. Have you received anon hate? What about?

I actually have never received anon hate for anything kny related! (I actually think it's the only fandom I frequently post about that it hasn't happened with lmao). Actually, I don't think I've ever really received any hate at all for kny stuff. The closest I've ever really gotten to "hate" of any kind is for last sunrise, where I get some comments of people talking about how much they absolutely fucking despise Shinobu which like... wasn't really the point? It's not hate exactly, because they're not complaining about the fic or anything, I just get a little :/ when I get comments that are literally only about how much they hate her and want her to die because that was not the point of her role in it even though she's done a lot of shitty things in that fic, it wasn't with the intent of making her a villain or anything like that, it was to show another facet of both her and the Corps as a whole

Swinging a bat at a fucking hornet's nest but Giyuu. Idk man, he is just so boring compared to the vast majority of the other characters. And like okay... I mean I guess I don't hate him, but I definitely don't understand the fandom's complete and utter obsession with him. He's also just a bitch to write for so he hardly ever shows up in my fics. And also to a lesser degree, Zenitsu. Kinda the same thing where I don't like, despise him or anything, but again, don't get the obsession with him and I don't really understand why he's probably the most focused on character out of the main four? Idk I guess he's about tied with Tanjiro, and people ship him so much with Tanjiro and Inosuke which I also just do not fucking get. The sexism. It's really fucking annoying, and people don't really seem to notice they're even doing it. But like the hate Shinobu gets compared to male characters? It's so skewed. They despise her for her anger and hatred and taking out her grief on others but love male characters who do the same thing which is so :/ And it's not just her. Female characters in general get way less appreciation for everything, and male characters are easily forgiven for mistakes while female characters are hated. Basically, the men are allowed to fuck up and be angry, but the women aren't

Okay... So this isn't a list of ever thought I'd make but it got into my head before I went to bed last night and I needed to post it. Please, do NOT hit read more if you are just a sweet summer child when it comes to the depths of the internet because what I'm about to say? Gets dark.

Okay. Now I mentioned in a previous post why characters like Alya or Lila get me angry. And, as I was scrolling through YouTube, I started to put a little list together of traits that normally give me such angry reactions and it occurred to me that, more often than not, these traits only really come out in anime characters.

So let's start this with the only universe where I have an OC, one of the originals, Naruto.

Now people hate on Sakura and the leaf village and I was not any different at the beginning of Naruto. Now my hatred of the leaf was for a very obvious reason, their treatment of Naruto. You see I always had two issues with this, they were so certain that Naruto was Kurama and blamed him for everything the fox did. So this means that A) they didnt trust the fourth hokage's sealing ability to keep them safe and B) should all the crap they be doing to Naruto make him snap? They expected the ninjas to take care of it.

Then there's the other option in that they knew the kyuubi couldn't hurt them and so they took their anger out on an innocent kid who has no clue why people hate him. Not really sure which paints the villagers in a worse light.

Say what you want about Hiruzen's shitty secret keeping skills, if Naruto had found out about Kurama BEFORE Iruka took a shine to him? The leaf would have been destroyed. And I would have laughed.

But anyway, let's move onto Sakura. Oh Sakura... Now I warmed up to her when Shippuden came around but before then? She was the focal point of why I disliked the other characters. It's not because she was in love with Sasuke, Ive seen plenty of stories where love interests don't make sense, and it wasn't how useless she was either. She may have been outclassed for the entirety of the pre timeskip era but the girl tried, I'll give her points for that. No I hated her for the same reason I hate the village, the other genin rookies, and everyone who called Naruto an idiot while praising Sasuke. Sasuke is one of the first to recognise that Naruto is strong. Naruto is the reason that Sasuke pushed himself as hard as he did in the wave arc and beyond. You're going to sit there and tell me that the one ninja pushing your "prodigy" to do better is a dead weight who won't ever compare to said prodigy? Yeah right. Bite me.

With that out of the way Sakura is the perfect representation of the characteristics that I just can't stand, albeit to a much more mundane nature than the next person I will rant about. She's useless, an idiot, a simp and a whiner. Now then, with that all said, can you guess which character triggered my hatred last night and made this the first thing I needed to write today?

It's Zenitsu. As much as I like demon Slayer I could not watch passed the first season because the thought I'd have to deal with that whiny waste of space some more? Oh it turned me right off. Now sure the little trait of him having mastered a single form so well that he can do it in his sleep? Yeah it's cool. The fact that he gets so scared he faints and is then able to use that technique? Is interesting. Every other moment he is on screen? Makes me want to stop living.

Now with his first introduction it was kind of neat. A character who understands how insane their career is? Who wants absolutely nothing to do with slaying demons but is, unbeknownst to them, able to survive an encounter because he's mastered a technique to such an extent? Was not something I could remember seeing before.

Hell his willingness to die for Nezuko because Tanjiro asked him to protect the box? Despite knowing there is a demon inside? For the sole reason being that Tanjiro actually puts up with him? It was incredibly sweet. The entire scene where you find out that he knew from the beginning that there was a demon in the box, yet trusted Tanjiro enough to protect it anyway? Was incredibly touching and made me think I had underestimated him.

.... And then he saw Nezuko and all my respect for him went out the window.

Now don't get me wrong. I don't mind a simp. Sanji is one of the most well known anime simps and Brock from Pokemon is probably the earliest simp people would be exposed too. The difference is the confidence. When Sanji and Brock start simping? It's funny. When you need to drag a blubbering Zenitsu away from a girl he only met once before? That's creepy. And pathetic. And a waste of precious screen time that could be spent on badass demon slaying or cute Nezuko moments. Or badass Nezuko moments.

But that's it. Demon Slayer isn't for me and I could live with that... Until I saw what the fandom thought of them. The fact that people shipped Zenitsu and Nezuko? Sickened me. But hey, I don't have to agree with everyone's opinion. There are those that think Ron and Hermione are good together just because that's what JK Rowling said. Clearly those people are wrong but they are entitled to their opinion.

And then... I found the porn. Now let me say this. I'm a man of the internet. I've seen many a childhood character ruined by the 34th rule. I've managed to sit through all of them. But the moment the Zenitsu and Nezuko video started. I was overcome by the urge to put Zenitsu in a blender.

I don't mean a giant one and turn him into a smoothie. No I mean I wanted to hold the lightning crybaby down and shove his extremities into a regular blender and listen to him scream. If there has ever been a character in anime that has been least deserving of another? It's Zenitsu. He doesn't deserve the love of a girl. He deserves repeated kicks in the crotch until he learns to stop blubbering.

i saw a taking saying you’re meant to hate makima and not like her and though that reveal of what she really was (control devil)/wanted (chainsaw man and only him) was meant to be a shocker and the obvious moment of “oh fuck her” it disregards the fact that she was very much meant to be a liked character. and even after that reveal and despite everyone hating her she’s still meant to be liked as a really prominent character. people still find her attractive even after the twist because she’s always been an attractive character. it’s like people on tiktok attempt at nuance and no one succeeds. it’s like that video of dj khalid on the basketball course fumbling around with the ball but it’s people on tiktok. (this obviously wasn’t the worst take compared to a lot of others)

along with that it’s sort of weird how there’s a sort of fixation on how you shouldn’t like makima at all in comparison to evil male characters, which for some reason are fine to like compared to makima. still liking makima is not equal to being fine with what she did to denji. i hope that tiny rant made sense it’s just a lot of people saying “you’re meant to do this” and them not knowing what’s really happening

i promised myself i would never write csm meta (mostly bc i dont think i have a good enough grasp on every element to give consolidated analysis on the series) but this ask reallllyyy resonated with me because makima is SUCH a fantastically written villain and i think that while everyone who hates her is mostly justified in said hatred because she is awful but it's like. never for the right reasons and never with any real nuance or genuine thought. makima is FANTASTICALLY written and we as the audience aren't meant to hate her because the story is told mostly from the perspective of denji.

to understand makima, you really have to understand denjis circumstance as a protagonist. denji is a character who's motivations are overly simplistic and that's because of his upbringing. not once in his life did he experience genuine love, especially not parental or motherly love. ontop of that he was in such deep shit and financial debt that he was destined for poverty. he was poor, hungry, and lonely. all main characters suffer from sort of tragedy but that tragedy is meant to feed into their motivations and trigger a particular action.

yuujis grandfather dying would translate into his integration into jujutsu society. the death of tanjiros family with only nezuko remaining would give tanjiro a reason to become a demon slayer.

"show me your dreams." is a very intentional line in the context of who denji is because at the start of the series he has none.

all in all when examining denji as a character - you'll first notice characteristics he lacks before you notice things about him. what can people say about denji other than calling him a horny teenage boy? denji is a character defined by poverty, both metaphorical and literal. his experiences have tainted his character so that he's relatively amoral without the guidance of aki later in the series. and he, in general, is a character who is strangely empty despite his yearning desire to live. who is denji really? what does he really want? he has no idea.

denjis lack of motivation and that sense of emptiness is also very directly written in the text in this panel. it's a huge issue that he has no internal motivation and that is due to his trauma.

and worst of all, denji despite his sexual urges or perceived sexual urges, is deeply innocent in many of his perceptions. fujimoto confirmed in an interview about a year or so prior that what denji sought from makima was motherly love. and that always throws people off because he clearly seems to want to sleep with her... right?

that's the thing though and that's what you have to understand about denji and makima. denji is naive. and makima, as a character, caught onto this fact early and made use of denjis utter naivety. that power imbalance between them where makima offers her body to denji in exchange for his obedience is like textbook grooming. much in the same that afo groomed shigaraki to become what he did, makima groomed denji for her own benefit.

and maybe you and me and the other people who are reading the story can recognize the multiple read flags that are very obvious about makima. the way she casually mentions making denji her dog for one, but also her clear lack of respect for his agency and strange possession. the way she dangles her attention over his head. all of these things, we as the viewers can see and understand. but this story is not about me and you, but about denji.

the way makima is potrayed is through denjis eyes is always exceptionally beautiful. denji views her with complete reverence and that's why saying she's meant to be disliked is absurd. because even to the bitterest end, where makima has effectively robbed denji of everything for her own completely selfish gain - denji admires her. he cares for her, in spite of himself and in spite of knowing how wrong it all is. he wants her approval and that is all in thanks to what makima was able to do in the time they spent together. the deep attachment that she had created to crush in the end. grooming, again.

this panel is one i often reference because its one of those scenes that shocking and a lot to see. but what i want to discuss is the framing because it's so relevant so intentional. the near holiness in which this deeply inappropriate action is framed. the light behind them like a halo, the hand in which makima guides him, their positions and the obvious line of the window frame that separates them.

makima makes it so that denji idolizes her. and for reasons denji can't wrap his head around, he does and always will. makima planned that.

i think there are plenty of reasons to hate makima but her villanous actions are without a doubt impressive and well-written to the point it's alarming.

but i think the biggest crime she commits is that she, not once in the entire series, saw denji for who he was. to me, the most painful thing to watch was that reality. to realize that she didn't care about denji in her own fucked up way either but that everything was a ploy and what denji experienced in spite. for denji to cannabilize makima in the end is an immensely powerful scene, and i do hope that much later in the series denji is able to reconcile with the abuse he suffered at her hands.

she is an utterly evil person. like truly what she did is inconceivable.

all that being said, i like her as a character. it's because i like evil women in the same way plenty of people like evil and fucked up men. and because makima is MEANT to be liked. that's the whole point. that's how she got control over denji and orchestrated the chain of events that was his happiness.

because makima was kind to him. because she was beautiful and graceful and nonchalant. because she appealed to the part of denji that yearned for admiration and praise and approval. the reason makima could commit such deep atrocities is because denji likes her. every single moment that we see her from denjis eyes potrays her as beautiful and unobtainable and she does everything in her power to make sure it stays that. so that she can give denji a reason to have her.

it's that from the very beginning. she is meant to be a very beautiful poison and i think pretending you're supposed to hate her from the beginning is stupid because that's not true. maybe you, as an adult with awareness, caught onto how awful she was and you disliked her for that. that's plausible for sure.

but she's always meant to be the thing that denji reveres and fujimoto makes the clear from the very moment she comes on screen. perhaps the most sincere we see her is in the first panel in which she hugs denji but not a minute after.

hate makima all you want. but to pretend that was the intent when really we as audience are meant to feel the extent of her betrayal along side denji is silly.

What if Kanae had lived and Shinobu had died? How different would the former be compared to the latter? Add-on: How would Kanae have reacted during the events of Wasp's Nest in place of Shinobu?

I am so touched and honored every time I'm asked about The Wasp's Nest. T^T But before that, let's just focus on the canon-as-we-saw-it side of things by writing a short death scene:

When Kanae found her, Shinobu had no way of speaking. Aside from the gash down her right lung, something else was wrong with her. In her panic, Kanae couldn’t think of what, and held her tiny, little sister for one last time.

“Shinobu… Shinobu…! Who did this to you?” she asked blankly, questioning the whole universe for how it could do this to her sister, revenge the furthest thing from her mind. Shinobu, however, was lucid, and revenge was exactly what she desired. Her blood vessels pounded not with the last efforts to extend her life, but with pure hatred and rage for whomever she had spent her fruitless last battle against. Besides a being a demon, whoever this demon was, they earned a special amount of enmity.

With short Breaths out her nose while keeping her mouth shut tight to stop the guzzling, Shinobu raised a hand to point at Kanae’s eyes, and Kanae spoke on her behalf. “One of the 12 Moon Demons…”

She pointed upward.

“…An Upper Moon…!”

She traced two horizontal lines in the air.

“…Upper Moon Two!? Shinobu! Your poison would never be enough against a demon like that! Why didn’t you wait for me? Why did you take them on by yourself?”

With the last burst of strength, Shinobu stressed the Corp hand signal for ‘don’t breath in.’ She blazed her last conscious stare into Kanae’s eyes, branding her with this warning. Her eyes then slowly rolled and closed, and her hand fell.

“Shinobu… Shinobu…!!”

The real question is whether Kanae would handle her grief in a healthier way that Shinobu did, trying to be the new embodiment of her sister's personality and wishes, which wasn't fooling anybody who already knew them both. I really don't see Kanae doing this, but it sure would be funny if she tried, she'd be so bad at it. The scene on the roof would place out with Tanjiro asking her if she's tired and Kanae just letting the whole act drop and saying, "phew, yes, that gets exhausting!!"

As for the events of the fic, I'm got a smattering of writings and doodles below. As we didn't get to explore her much in the fic (as her absence was likewise part of what set the tone for the role of Tsuguko in the Butterfly Mansion), this will have a special focus as being from the first Tsuguko's perspective.

My name is Ichijo Tomoe. I’m a Kanoto in the Demon Slayer Corp. My Breath is Flower Breath.

I was the oldest daughter in my family. I had a mother and father, an older brother, and three identical triplet sisters. They were much younger than me, and were treated as the glittering stars of our neighborhood. Everyone always delighted in seeing three of the same smiling faces, with their hair in bows and buttons all over their Western dresses, and strangers often bothered us wanting to take their photograph.

I loved each one of them dearly, and the demon who attacked my family ate each one in front of me. It had come for them, curious what a rarity like triplets may taste like. It killed my brother first at the door, and then my mother who ran to him, and my then my father, who was ripped away as he tried to shield us daughters. I still have the scar on my arm from his fingernail. The demon chose to spare me, intending to eat me once it had appetite later, and it kept me trapped under a pile of broken furniture. I could only watch and listen as they were each killed and mocked as the demon talked about flavors and flesh. By the time it dragged me out of our home, I was limp and in shock.

I do not know how many minutes or hours passed before a swordsman of the Corp rescued me, and after that, I was collected and cared for by the Kakushi. As they helped me recover, I learned of Flower Breath, and that it might allow someone like me to stop such a wretched thing from happening to anyone else. I’m told I’m good at it, but I find myself unsure.

One of the few Flower Breath users I later met was Kochou Kanae, and she had a sister, Kochou Shinobu, who practiced Insect Breath. They had made a promise together when young that they would kill as many demons as they could to prevent anyone else from going through the pain they had, and this made me feel kinship for them. Though we did not meet often, I admired them. Kanae-sama even more so, for she was the Flower Pillar.

When I heard news that Shinobu-san had been killed, I fretted over what to do. I did not know if it would be out of line to offer my condolences to a Pillar, but imagining how her heart must have ached, I wanted to give her a sign that she could talk to me, or at least, that I cared. Whether or not to accept my company in her grief, I wanted to leave as her choice. With my heart fluttering under my nerves, I paid a visit to the Butterfly Mansion, and silently offered Kanae-sama a bouquet when she answered the gate.

“Calendula,” she said, her swollen eyes falling on the flowers. “Sadness and parting. Armeria, concern and sympathy.”

Though her voice remained even and calm, my face tickled with tears.

“Rugosa rose… sadness, followed by beauty.”

My face flushed red. I had chosen the rugosa rose to try to offer hope, but I knew that beauty never followed the sadness of losing dearly beloved ones to demons. That flower was a stupid choice.

“Thank you, Tomoe-chan. You lost your little sisters too, didn’t you?” she said, and before I could respond, she had wrapped her arms around me and sank to the ground, burying her face against my shoulder. “Three of them, didn’t you?”

I couldn’t say anything with my throat so knotted behind all my tears. I held her as she sobbed.

So Ichijo goes on to be taken in as a Tsuguko once Kanae has concern for where her Flower Breath technique is lacking. Ichijo is completely overwhelmed by the sight of Kiyo, Sumi, and Naho, and excuses herself as quickly and politely as possible to have privacy in her room. She takes her meals alone there because the memories of her little sisters' deaths are otherwise too much for her to stomach anything. This saddens Kanae, but she kind of understands why and leaves Ichijo be, asking Aoi (who is still a Breath trainee) and Kanao to serve her meals. Ichijo feels like Kanao is playing keep-away from painful reality, which Ichijo finds she can relate to.

So then later on Mita brazenly comes seeking to be a Tsuguko as soon as she passes the Final Selection, as there's no Insect Pillar to study under but she was told the Flower Pillar had a good understanding of Insect Breath techniques. It is right as she's finishing her rehearsed self-introduction that she takes a look at the Flower Pillar and realizes---that's her!!! That's Kochou Kanae, who made a mockery of her by telling her a lie that she needed to be a certain height before she could start Breath training, which Mita stupidly believed and it cost her a whole year of training she could had started on earlier! Kanae takes an extra moment to recognize her, then says how surprised she is to see her in the Corp and yes, if she can help with Insect Breath and loan out her sister's books, she's more than happy to.

Ichijo and Mita have a quiet, formal relationship and they both like it that way. Mita, irritated with having found her way into Kanae's care (and is indignantly convinced that Kanae would had tried to make her a nurse like all her other orphans if she had gotten than idea by the time she rescued her), is more prone to complaining than she would had been under Shinobu, whom she had deep respect for. Ichijo is a little put off by Mita's complaints. Mita cares less about other people wasting Kanae's time since Kanae seems to find lots of ways to waste it herself.

Ichijo gets to live longer in this AU! Sorry and thank you for your sacrifice, Shinobu.

So Kanae's got her two Tsuguko whom she takes around with her on missions, and then one day a third one shows up with a letter of introduction from her cultivator, who also happened to be Kanae's cultivator. She and Kanae hit it off immediately.

Oh Ichijo, so tender and pure.

Ichijo finds Kobayashi overwhelming at first, and is relieved when Mita complains about her chattiness while she's trying to study. However, Kobayashi has a high enough EQ to figure out that Ichijo will converse if asked the right questions, and since she gives Ichijo her full attention while she listens, Ichijo starts feeling more at ease with her soon, and as a sempai Tsuguko, she gives her pointers here and there on the training Kanae has them do, but not too much because Kobayashi is older and above her in rank.

When Mita presents Kanae her report on the feasibility of filling her body with poison, Kanae laughs very nervously as she starts tearing it to shreds and burning it, right in front of Mita, who shrieks at all her hard work getting demolished. Kanae then admonishes her like Shinobu did, but adds, "This feels like the kind of thing my sister would have thought of."

They do manage to make amends (as Mita has attained more respect and more of a relationship with her Shihan by now), but unfortunately for Mita, Kanae's knowledge of demon poison is not as good as Shinobu's, and Mita dies all the same. Kanae feels a lot of guilt about that, and it also brings on a fierce wave of missing Shinobu, whom she believes could had saved Mita if she had been there. As she is more open to a friendly relationship with her Tsuguko instead of a purely formal one, she accepts Ichijo and Kobayashi's emotional support in this time instead of shutting herself away and not letting anyone see how Mita's death is affecting her.

As in the fic, this happens while Aoi is away at her Final Selection and what with how the older girls have all been supporting each other in this time, they are ready to accept Aoi at her emotionally weakest state and give her support to sit with her feelings too. This helps Aoi to wrestle through things and decide with more peace that she needs to quit the sword. Kanae is relieved, not just because this means Aoi will stay home and safe, but because she can be kinder to Aoi this way. If Aoi were to be half-way about swordsmanship, Flower Pillar Kanae would have no choice but to be strict with her.

All this being open with their feelings and facing the horrors of reality would be an opportunity for Ichijo to face her trauma and eventually be able to accept and appreciate the company of Kiyo, Sumi, and Naho. They'll never replace her sisters, they are each as unique as each of her sisters was, and their families will never be replaced either. With Kanae's and Kobayashi's help they sort of know why Ichijo had always been so stand-offish, and after Ichijo tearfully apologizes for giving them any uncomfortable feelings, they warmly forgive and welcome her into 'the nest,' as Mita had called it.

With the girls all functioning more like sisters than Shinobu would have had the ease to let unfold, Kobayashi is comfortable consulting with Ichijo about Kanao's aptitude and interest in Flower Breath. Ichijo hadn't picked up on it before, but once Kobayashi mentions it, she notices it too, and she goes along with Kobayashi as moral support to consult with their master about it.

Uh oh, they seem to have struck a nerve with their master. Things are a liiiiiittle bit tense. But now that they've mentioned it, Kanae is stunned she didn't notice it sooner herself. One day while talking with Sanemi she says that she was once shocked when Sanemi off-handedly said that if his brother was stupid enough to join the Corp he'd pluck his eyeballs out, but now, she kind of understands that! She kind of had a passing whim to pluck out Kanao's eyeballs! She gets it now! Sanemi isn't really sure that this is a good development.

Nonetheless, Kobayashi feels the same conviction that Kanao needs training for her own safety because no one can stop her from wanting to fight demons, and Ichijo feels fretful about doing things behind Kanae's back, but feels a lot of regret that Kanao probably say some bad examples from her and she worries if Kanao will pick up improper technique. She makes peace with this by pulling Kanao aside one day and just saying, "Kanao-san, say, you know the footwork on the 4th form? The knee should be facing more squarely forward, not outward like the way I do it. And the elbows on the First Form? They're not supposed to be locked. And the posture on the Third Form? It should look more like..."

And Kanao soaks that all in, still gets in trouble by practicing with Kobayashi, Kanae gets more mad about them going behind her back than about the training, Ichijo is crying heap on apology on the floor, Kobayashi reexplains their concerns, words it in such a say that it somewhat echos Shinobu--"it's dangerous if she doesn't--" but also twists that echo in a key way, "she's thinking for herself."

Those words stab Kanae through the heart, and she knows she can't hold Kanao back if this is truly what she's decided. She knows she should probably teach Kanao instead of more dangerously letting her go blindly down this path of her choice. But she still has the guilt of over the promise she made with Shinobu and how that led to Shinobu's death, and Kanao is especially precious to her because she's the one whom Shinobu brought home to be like another sister to them. She needs more time to get her feelings in order.

And then Kobayashi dies. Whoops.

Kanae is kind of shook by this, but it's easier to accept Kobayashi's death as one of many that always happen in the Corp, not something Kanae directly could or should had prevented. Still, it hurts! They were friends, and something kind of like sisters! Ichijo is more open with her feelings now and is a mess, and admits to Aoi at some point that she sometimes thinks of retiring too, because her Flower Breath will never even be as good as Kobayashi's was. Kanae uses this period of mourning--because everyone sure liked Kobayashi--to ask Kanao very seriously if this is what she's prepared for. She's very likely to die and make people sad like this.

But seeing sadness like this is what drove Kanao all along. It only makes her more determined when Kanae asks her, "Are you sure you want to learn Flower Breathing?"

Seeing as Kanao didn't even so much as flinch for her coin before answering yes, Kanae thinks back to the promise she made with Shinobu, and knows she has no right to tell Kanao no.

"Alright," she says, offering her pinky. "But you must follows my orders, get stronger, and survive. We must take down Upper Moon Two and avenge Shinobu together. It's a promise."

I feel like he would feel miserably guilty for not being able to recognise you and even mistaking you for a demon.

So, to make this less bad for him, let's say that he is still going around asking demons how to turn a demon back into a human, for Nezuko you know.

And for them to respond to him, they have to at least be in good enough shape to not die.

That means you aren't severely hurt. I mean, hurt enough for you to not move, but surely you will get better? Besides, if you couldn't, that's also okay, Tanjiro is always there for you and he will just be happier because well, you are more dependent on him now.

Not like you would admit it ever tho.

But he has got one big DOUBT.

He is very sure he locked the door 6 times. And boarded up the windows. And locked you in a room which has got like, 18 locks on it.

Not to add the fact that the house is in the middle of nowhere.

So be ready for a really anxious investigation when you reach the so-called home.

He seems like the one who wants to get the job done quickly so he could y'know, just get home and spend more time with you.

And because of him daydreaming ( night dreaming ) he couldn't sense your presence at all, or even if he did, he would simply think it was his imagination.

I mean, you won't even be able to get out of the door!

Obviously, no way in hell will you be here.

Besides, he did tell you to just wait for him! You are very patient.

And why would you even try getting out of your home? You do love him, don't you?

So, in midst of getting the job done quickly he sadly so just, chops your head off.

You don't even get to make a sound and your head plops to the ground.

He doesn't even bother looking at you, but when he does sense a human's blood, your blood, doesn't matter if it is his imagination or not, he is alert and ready to fistfight Muzan.

And so he is frantically looking around and trips over your dead body.

Now he is confused, the demon should have disintegrated by now..? Unless it isn't a demon.

And that is when he in shock looks at the human dead body, your dead body, the only one who loved him and accepted him.

Boy, he is already ugly sobbing in your kimono and just begging you to wake up.

Of course, you don't.

Feeling ashamed of himself, he top chops his head off with the same sword he killed his beloved.

There is no reason for him to live if you weren't gonna be there with him.

Kyojuro--

He was very shocked to say the least.

I mean, he, a hashira, couldn't differentiate between a human and a demon, and the fact the human is you?

Bro, he feels so angry at himself that he forgets you are on the ground bleeding.

But he quickly snaps out of his self-hatred session and tries to check your wounds as calmly as he can.

Which isn't a lot because he is like screaming,

"LOVE, CAN YOU HEAR ME??!"

Screaming louder than he normally does.

And he just can't seem to get the fact that you are dying in his mind.

He can't accept it.

And boy, when he realized that he was the one to hurt you, his heart stopped right then and there.

Because not only you are hurt, you are hurt because of him.

He feels so ashamed and guilty that he didn't realise that you were dead.

And he just spends all the time over there mourning your death until the Kakushi's arrive and well, he is the next Shinjuro.
