what i loved about the latest episode of dandadan is the way okarun communicates with momo. he's usually so reserved and passive about voicing his feelings, but this time he makes the active choice to tell momo that he needs her to tell him how she feels. he's not a mind reader, and if something is bothering her, he wants to do his best to clear things up. it's such a nice little step in character development, especially since momo pointed out earlier in the season that okarun makes assumptions about how people see him and runs with it instead of actually figuring out if his assumptions are correct or not.

not only that, but when okarun tells momo what he needs from her, there's a sort of reassurance hidden there, too. by insisting that he wants to make sure she's completely clear about everything between them, okarun is saying that it's safe for her to be honest and vulnerable with him. we can already see that okarun and momo have great chemistry, but this moment really elevates their friendship into something more human, more healthy, and it's cute as heck.

#dandadan #they already aren't great w/ communication (which is typical for teenagers) so this is a really mature step for them both #I love their relationship because you can already kinda see something romantic between them but it takes the back seat most of the time #their development as friends is what's most important and it feels very natural and refreshing #momokarun

They cannot meet each other despite their existence being tied to another.#I think the brothers tragedy is just as much of a tragedy of parallel lines as is pre-resurrection wangxian.#Jiang Cheng and Wei Wuxian spend so much time running side by side and yet - they cant close this gap between them.#Even if their relationship never recovers - they are forever tied together through their past. The good and bad and ugly.#All the things that are left unsaid between them. All the love and sacrifices they made for each other that are never shared. Parallel line #I firmly believe any post-canon material that would have them be indifferent towards each other is just...really doing them a disservice.#And dear god the Lan brothers. They certainly love each other! Its a far fonder fraternal relationship than jiangxian (/platonic)#They fool you by having you think they have a good read on each other. Lan Xichen certainly wingmans + advocates for lwj!#But lets not forget - Lan Xichen by the end is in the reverse situation and headspace as Lan Wangji by the end of this story.#Lan Wangji is more free and open than he has ever been. The Ithaca Saga is banger after banger, but what makes me sob every time I listen to it is Athena's part in "I Can't Help But Wonder." Like DAMN is her arc amazing, especially in parallel to Odysseus'. And the gentle sadness of his response makes my heart ache.

I think one of the most vital parts of any curse of Strahd campaign is that when you're establishing the dynamic between your Strahd and Rahadin they both have to be at least a little weird about it

#There are other important things of course #but you absolutely cannot make the relationship between these guys normal #One way or another you have to make them weird. For the drama. For the tension. The anticipation.#So that when your party targets one of them they know the other is about to go sicko mode on their ass #curse of strahd #it speaks #I love Rahadin and Strahd as a concept so much #Everyone in Ravenloft is undead or cursed or magical and then there's Some Elf With A Sword and he's 2nd in command #Like what the hell is this guy doing here #How scary does he have to be that Strahd keeps him around and MORTAL
