My first OC is Alora

So Alora started off from a fanfic I wrote in high school where she was taken at a young age and trained under Shao Kahn to be an assassin. Kano had tasked her with a job of getting Kabal back into BD but you know shit happens and she’s like hm maybe I do not want to lmao. This was all based in mk9 bc that was the first game I played in the series lol.

In this update she is currently 29 years old and is a part of the Black Dragon. She ended up there after some bullhokey shenanigans with Kano at 16 and owed him a debt after losing a fight (against her dad btw 💀). She has enhanced strength and can take a beating, so she’s not invincible it’s just gonna take more than a few good punches to take her out.

She currently has no love interests but in the og Kabal was her main squeeze. She also had a thing going on with Noob Saibot that I may or may not put in this version of her but it is undecided lmao.

Alora is technically the only oc I have out but I do have another oc named Kasiya that I’m still fleshing out her backstory and just overall character. But a brief summary about her is Cetrion created her from certain elements of nature to help her maintain balance between Earthrealm and Outworld. Kasiya is essentially a ‘goddess of nature’ since she has the power to manipulate plants. I also do have her as a love interest for Kung Lao lol.

And then FUN FACT! Kasiya actually stemmed off from Alora bc in og fanfic, Alora was the one who had the power to manipulate plants. But when I was revamping her I figured that having her manipulate plants and go with the story she has now would’ve been too complicated so I made a separate oc aka Kasiya :)

MK1: Khaos Reigns

As promised, here's my take on the DLC. What I liked, what I didn't, and my overall opinion. Reminder, I don't play Mortal Kombat. Not my cup of tea but this I've been exposed to this lore since I was a wee baby millennial. So mind you my take is lore and story based not game play. From what little I've played, the game play is usually pretty good.

Below the cut for everyone's sanity and to save any folks who haven't already be sucked in from spoilers.

What I liked:

Harumi. She can fight and she's alive. I suspect if she's not a Kombatant in MK2 (or a future DLC) then she'll be an NPC with more voice lines or at least more story relevance. (If she dies, we riot.) Loved her interaction with Johnny and how both Kuai Liang and Liu Kang agree that she's wise and should be listened to.

The Sektor/Bi-Han confirmation (reveal?). I saw it and was like "omg...they did it. THEY FUCKING DID IT!" Giddy happy moment. There was a lot of speculation and NRS didn't hide that, bare minimum, she would be in love with him, but it was done very well. I also appreciate that it's a conversation topic in their tower intros with other characters. They are gonna make each other worse but I think it will keep them from some of their bad/negative choices from the original games.

Cyrax. No further explanation required (Cyrax and Tomas have always been some of my faves so that the New Cyrax is on the list should surprise no one).

Empress Tanya and Emperor Rain. His death hits us in the feelings not because of how he went but because of how well those characters and that relationship was written. A+ to the writing team. That's how you introduce a character and kill them in quick succession and make your audience care! (The actor playing Tanya's reaction is also on point.)

"Cyber Lin Kuei", that it's armor is great. This makes a lot more sense to be overall than converting people into robots. Though I do wonder what plan Sektor has for she and Bi-Han to maintain greater control over the Lin Kuei following Cyrax's defection. It'll be interesting.

Titan (OG) Havik is still a Full Tilt Diva.

They canonized a bunch of the intros from the tower in the main story, it's a good look.

What I didn't like:

Bi-Han/Noob Saibot. We knew it would happen and while he's technically not dead I don't like how they handled him. They've slotted him right back in the same space his occupied in the original games/timeline of antagonist to Kuai Liang/Scorpion. Could they reform/redeem him in later games, maybe but I'm not holding out hope given his tower ending.

Sektor's and Bi-Han's relationship...they are gonna make each other worse if they are left in the roles they currently occupy and I'm not looking forward to a re-cast retread of old story lines with them. (I will be pleasantly surprised if this is used to make them better both as characters and from a story telling standpoint.)

How did the previous Lin Kuei Grandmaster die? Tell us more than Bi-Han abandoned him to die...or killed him? They've said both in game.

I reposted something from another Tumblr earlier (and that poster went into much more detail) so I'll summarize: I don't think there was any good reason for leaving Tomas out of the story. Even Kuai Liang giving a throw away line of "I've tasked him with leading the Shirai Ryu." or something to that extent was better than just blatantly forgetting about him when they're supposed to be brothers despite their lack of blood ties. Calling out Kuai Liang there.

This story was too short and felt rushed. Like they had to get it out and didn't have time to put in as much as they wanted. I will compare it to the script that was leaked via pastebin and Reddit, but that was the script. They removed Sektor, Cyrax, and a few other characters/scenes but overall what we saw there was what we got and it felt lacking. Why didn't we get to see some of Cyrax and Kuai Liang going through the maze with WWII Johnny? The stuff with Empress Tanya and Sektor was great but they had opportunities to give us more and didn't or couldn't and you can tell.

How did Bi-Han/Noob tearing off Havik's limbs and head actually stop him? Dude could grow literal clones that way and regenerate limbs? Is he like a Highlander where taking off his head (and keeping it from his body) stops that? What about the Time Crystals/Kamidogu, shouldn't those have made him Bi-Han/Noob proof? (I like that Bi-Han got most of his payback and someone NOT Liu Kang ganked the villian but they established Havik could do some next level nonsense.)

This one bothered me a lot: NO ONE thought about the fact that Bi-Han knew all of the defensive capabilities of both Earthrealm and Outworld and that rescuing him should be as high a priority as Geras. They were still gonna fail but NO ONE thought of that reason except him after Liu Kang restored his mind.

My overall take:

It's not good. It has good bones and if it had been longer and more fleshed out it would have been much better. For a Mortal Kombat story DLC it's passable.

This felt like it should have been saved for a second game or that they should have taken another 6-12 months to give us a longer DLC. As a villain Titan Havik and his minions (especially Chaos Kenshi & Chaos Takeda) felt underutilized to the point of waste.

Have an intense staring Tomas as thanks for reading my rambling about Mortal Kombat 1's DLC story. (If they hurt him in a subsequent game/DLC...we RIOT).

Omg I'm sad that the mk beta is over. I had so much fun playing as Kitana, Li Mei, and Sub-Zero.

I wanna share my thoughts on the game and the characters. 😭

Even watching some of the trailers. I can't get over how gorgeous the game looks. The amount of details and designs. 😍

A cute detail I noticed with kitana is that she is wearing a purple sash around her waist. Which was gifted to her by her mom. Meaning that sindel is not evil in the new timeline.

Another hint is kitana saying a line when she beats an opponent. Shouting, "I fight like my mother!"

Hint: I know what happens to sindel in story mode due to story mode leaks going around but I only know of sindel's part. But that is all I'm saying cause I don't want to get spoiled or spoil any other details.

A funny thing I also caught one is with johnny when he talks to the crowd and a girl screams, "Johnny! I love you!"

And I think Sareena is evil in this game due to the fact in the banished trailer. Ashrah said that her demon sisters (I don't know if nrs is making sareena and her sisters being related to ashrah as they werent in the OG timeline or she meant by sisterhood as in bonds) are angry at her for leaving the netherrealm and choosing to become a force of good and hunt down demons. And she wants to either punish ashrah or bring her back.

And since Bi-Han is back and could possibly become noob saibot. Bi-Han and Sareena's path could cross. Since liu kang said to Bi-Han not to go to the temple of elements, where he meets Quan Chi and Sareena in a new intro. Plus, that mission is practically the start of the lin kuei cyber initiative and Bi-Han's internal struggle of his change of heart until he got killed by scorpion and resurrected and corrupted by Quan Chi. And I think Liu Kang is trying to prevent Bi-Han from becoming Noob Saibot. (But it's NRS. They are probably not going to give Bi-Han a break.)

My mains are probably going to be Kitana, Sindel, Sub-Zero, Kenshi, Li Mei, Havik, and Ermac (I can't stand his look but I hope he is going to have a different skin to choose.)

I know there’s a lot of varying opinions on Bi Han/Sareena and I do understand not liking them because yeah they’re not the most well written pairing, if they were in fact meant to be a pairing (tbf tho, are there any truly well written romances in MK?). I’m kind of lukewarm on them myself, I definitely wish they had gotten more or... any development, but whatever you may think of them, we at least have always known they have a history together. And that history was referenced as recently as MKX. Literally just in the previous game!! That’s a lot more than can be said about Kabal/Sareena, which came completely out of nowhere and had no set up or basis whatsoever, they really just picked Sareena as his love interest at random. They’ve never even met in canon ffs. It was so unnecessary and my girl Sareena deserves better than this.

I love Bi Han and Kuai Liang hcs omg ;n; I really wish we could learn more about them before... everything. I mean, Kuai Liang obviously misses him so much. Imagine how formidable they'd be together. The new Deadly (cuddly) Alliance.

I feel this to my core nonny! All I want out of an MK game is ANYTHING more about Bi-Han and Kuai Liang. Side note if you haven’t played or watched a play through of Mortal Kombat Mythologies: Sub-Zero, I HIGHLY recommend it. There’s no Kuai, but the entire game is focused on Bi-Han (wonder why Sol loves it so much huh? lol) before MK1 starts, so it’s the closest we have to any glimpse of either of their lives before the games start. MK11 was such a missed opportunity, don’t get me wrong it’s a gorgeous game and ridiculously fun to play (I high key love MK11) but I feel like they gave us NOTHING between the brothers. I mean an intro between Nightwolf and Noob is the closest to anything about their actual relationship we get.

Nightwolf: You’ve forsaken your brother.

Noob Saibot: A dead man needs no family.

Nightwolf: It’s all that he has, Bi-Han.

It really bums me out the way they seemed to make Kuai so cold towards Bi-Han in 11, it seems like he’s finally given up on his brother and it sucks.

I’m not sure either would really cuddle each other lol 😆 but they would be a pretty hard to beat tag team duo that’s for sure. Maybe one day NRS will finally give us more of their backstory and some reconciliation for the Sub-Zero Bros, but in the mean time I’ll continue to do my best to fill in all of NRS’ holes as best I can.

He also is looking for answers and new information and hopes for a partner who longs for knowledge too

- Easygoing and kind; dating a God will be unpredictable and he’s not just any kind of God, he’s a Wind God. Fujin is the type to go with the flow, let things happen and figure it out as it hits him and the last thing he wants is someone nagging him his problems could’ve been avoided and belittling him

- Understanding and patient; Bi-Han has a temper and a lot of pride, and both can get in the way so he would like a partner who can wrap their arms around him and listen to his day and accept what he does, and also know that he is trying not to be cold to them when he comes home tired and cranky and just grunts as he peels off his bloody clothes and asks about something to eat after he showers off

- Openminded and curious; some people look at him and just make assumptions without even considering asking him, so it’ll peak his interest if someone asked him stuff and showed genuine interest in both himself and other things they want to know. And seeing his partner reading a book to feed their curiosity about other things will make him fall more in love with them too
