You were never fond of Halloween. Sure, you loved being able to go all out in costumes and go to Halloween parties with your friends, but you knew immediately that once those plans were over, you were left in your own accompaniment once again.
Some people would be joyful with spending the rest of their nights after parties and such alone, but you? You were used to the party scene and loved it when it never ended. Lucky for you, your dorky boyfriend of a few months, Park Jisung, always kept the party going.
“Hey, have you guys seen Ji?” You asked Ningning and her boyfriend, Jeno, after finally spotting them dancing together on the dance floor. Your voice was louder than usual due to Michael Jackson's Thriller bumping from the party speakers.
“No, we thought he was with you." Ning looks over to Jeno. “I thought he came with you and the guys.”
You both wait for Jeno's reply, but he just shrugs. “He was supposed to, but he was the last one to get ready. If anyone knows where he is, that's Chenle.”
You click your tongue. “I figured. I'm going to keep looking for him. Thanks, guys!”
Ning’s shout of “Good luck!” was the last thing you heard before you committed to walking through the crowd of musty bodies. You were surprised at how many people went all out on their Halloween costumes this year. Your surprise wasn't a bad thing though; if anything, you loved it.
You almost second-guessed your choice of costume. With you and Ning being the only girls in the group, you felt that it was right if the both of you matched. The angel costumes were cute; you were wearing a black tight dress while she wore white, but taking a look at the decided costumes this year, you began to feel basic.
Once you're out of the crowd, you spot Haechan, Mark, and Yeonjun in the corner. You take notice of Yeonjun trying his best to impress some girl while the two boys next to him silently judge, taking occasional sips out of their red solo cups.
Haechan, in his Pennywise makeup and attire, sees you walking towards them, tilting his head at your costume. “What are you supposed to be? A demonic angel?”
Mark snickers at his friend's comment, which you pout at. “No. I'm just an angel who happens to wear black. And says you, Pennywise, isn't your costume like... super basic?”
Haechan gasps, his hand on his chest for the dramatic effect. Mark rolls his eyes and answers your question instead.
“Every year, the Rockway guys do a group costume. This year, we somehow decided on iconic horror movie killers.”
“Ahhh… So, that explains your Leatherface mask.”
With a nod of his head, Mark replies with a “Yup.”
You glance back at the party, and the sudden remembrance of why you came up to them in the first place hits you. “Oh! By the way, have you guys seen Jisung? I literally can't find him anywhere.”
Your body physically sulks at their answers, telling you they haven't seen him in a while. With your hope slowly decreasing and the urge to ditch the party increasing, you decide to call him one last time. If he doesn’t answer, you’ll cut the party short and head home, unfortunately finding the comfort of your bed more enjoyable than being here. You loved the company of your friends, but it bummed you out that you haven’t seen your boyfriend all night after him telling you that he’ll be here.
After bidding your goodbyes to the group and giving Jeno the responsibility to get Ning home safely, you make your way to your car. It's late October with the breeze finally coming through, resulting in you rubbing your arms in hopes for warmth. As you walk, your ears pick up on the sounds of your heels clicking against the sidewalk cement until they pick up another pair of footsteps near you. At first, you don’t sweat it, already aware of the scattered groups outside of the frat.
But as you walk more down towards your car, the shuffling footsteps don’t leave you. Okay, you’ve had enough of this. Your slight irritation was slowly increasing due to this sudden interruption of your plans to waste the rest of your night away by changing out of this angel get-up and watching comfort films.
The only person you craved to see you in this costume was nowhere to be found, anyway. Finally turning around, you face the person but stay near your car for safety reasons.
“Who are you, and why do you keep following me?” You ask.
You didn’t mean to have your words come out sharply, but when you found out your culprit to be someone in a Ghostface costume, it only made you roll your eyes.
“I don’t mean to be rude, but if you’re just here to mess with me, is it okay if you can choose someone else? I really don’t have the energy for this.”
A beat passes and still no response from the person. It was almost as if their feet were stuck in the cement; you were starting to feel chills at the creepy mask staring back at you. But then, your brain starts to put the pieces together.
The replay of what Mark told you earlier back at the party plays in your head. “Every year, the Rockway guys do a group costume. This year, we somehow decided on iconic horror movie killers.” Would it be a coincidence that Jisung, who you haven’t seen all night, just happens to be right in front of you?
Your face softens at the thought of the mysterious Ghostface being your boyfriend. “Ji, baby, if that’s you, I’m going to smack you. Where have you been all night? I called you three times.”
Still no answer, but now they were slowly walking towards you, revealing what they were holding behind them to be a knife. From where you’re standing, you couldn’t tell if it’s real or a fake replica, but that doesn’t stop your grip on the driver seat handle tightening, ready to pull on it and get the hell out of here.
But you try one last time. “Okay, quit it. This isn't funny.”
By this point, the wondering thoughts of whether this was Jisung or not cloud your mind. You’re now close to each other, and the Ghostface still hasn’t said anything.
You know what? Fuck it! You’re not dying today!
You tug the car door open, ready to rush inside, but the masked John Doe shuts the door before you can. Their gloved hand doesn’t budge on the door, making their body lean against it and impossible for you to get inside.
The fact that they haven’t shoved the knife into your body by now has you suspicious and less frightened, but more agitated. Finally, they remove the mask from their face, revealing—
“Hi, pretty angel.”
Your stupid, cheekily smiling boyfriend.
He has no time to lean in and give you an apologetic kiss on the lips before you smack him on the chest and punch his arm. “You motherfucker!”
“Ow! What the hell was that for?”
Your eyes squint at him asking you that, resulting in another punch to his arm. “Don’t ‘what the hell was that for’ me! You scared the shit out of me!”
You’re about to smack his chest again, but Jisung’s reflex hits faster than yours. Not giving you another opportunity to hit him, he’s quick to take hold of both of your wrists, which you immediately try to get out of. You hate (love) how strong he’s been getting. With his constant drumming and going to the gym with the guys on the side, it became more and more difficult for you to get out of his grip.
With your hands unable to move, he takes the chance and plants quick kisses all over your face. Your face flusters quickly with you trying to move away from his lips. He knows he got you when your tugging to get out of his hands stops and you start giggling.
“Ji, stop it!” Your giggles only increase when his kisses do, leading him to drop your hands and place his on your waist instead.
“I missed you. I’m sorry I didn’t answer; I wanted to keep up the bit of scaring you.” He says after giving you a big cheek kiss and pulling you closer to his chest.
You can’t stop the giddy smile forming on your face. “It’s okay. Just never scare me like that again or I will—” you point your pointy finger on his chest, almost in warning, creating some space between you two, “cut your balls off.”
But he pays no mind to your threat, smiling down at you like a loser in love. “Yes, ma’am. Never again.”
You encircle your arms around his waist, looking up at him doe-eyed. “Now, can we please go home and watch comfort movies?”
“Can I first admire how fuckin’ gorgeous you look in this and then go home?”
Oh. You forgot you had this costume on.
Your cheeks heat up at his words. “Language, Park. You could’ve admired this all you wanted earlier if you didn’t leave me alone the whole night.”
He pouts, “Will I at least see this costume some other time, baby?”
"Hmm.” You pretend to think. “I guess, you just have to wait and see.”
“Why wait when I can see it on you tomorrow?” There's a glint in his eyes, and you know it can only mean trouble.
“Easy, drummer boy.”
Little did he know that his almost insulting prank on you sparked an idea in your head. But it’s best to save that for next year, right?
You guess, with Park Jisung by your side, you wouldn’t mind waiting another year to see what other Halloween pranks he has in store for you.

paris is always a good idea | a Jonerys Drabble
Thank you @youwerenevermine for my wonderful birthday gift, I love it so much and I love Paris so much and Jonerys and you for making this for me so I felt inspired and wrote a quick little drabble thing, lol. It’s only the fourth time I’ve written Jonerys in a modern, non-Westeros world, but it was fun!  And I wanna’ go back so much!  Paris, je t’aime!
They met while in university, oddly enough, as fate would have it, on her birthday.
She had been there to study art, for a year abroad, savoring every last second wandering the wide, arched hallways of the Louvre, staring at grand masters for hours on end, burning the vibrant colors and mesmerizing brushstrokes into her memory, wishing she could be as good as them one day.  One day, someone would have her art in their house, and proudly boast they'd gotten it back when she was but a nobody, painting on the streets or in the grassy parks.
Since it was her birthday, she decided to treat herself, and instead of heading straight to the university to get some time in the studio, she decided to get an ice cream at Berthillon, heading to the Ile-St-Louis instead of to the metro, taking her time to admire, as she often did, the glory of Notre Dame, it’s gargoyles and buttresses.
At the glacier she took her time selecting a flavor, did not even mind paying the exorbitant price and shouldered through tourists taking refuge from a cold rain that had begun to fall. She savored it, the clean water bouncing off her peat coat and the beanie she’d tugged over her silver hair.
She was about to set off, to eat her ice cream and wander into the Marais, perhaps drop down into the Latin Quarter— maybe take a trip to Chanel or Dior or Celine to admire the creations she couldn’t afford— when her ice cream went flying, straight onto the wet sidewalk. Where a mass of pidgins attacked it with gusto.
“Merde! Faites attention!” she shouted, stomping her Doc Marten on the ground in petulant annoyance.
The man who had bumped her because he’d been roughhousing with another friend had been apologetic.  He bought her another and said his name was Robb Stark. He was from Scotland, was on spring break with his buddies, which she didn’t care about. To apologize he invited her for a drink, especially when the worker who she’d told it was her birthday had commented on it again when she got another ice cream.
She figured why not?  He was attractive, sorry, and nice enough so she agreed, although she had commented his French was terrible best to speak English. “You’re English?” he had teased.
“Half and half,” she answered. English father, French mother.
At the comptoir where she suggested they meet, in Montmartre, she brought her roommate Missandei and Missandei’s boyfriend Grey. It was just a drink and they’d leave and go to the dinner Missandei planned to take her to anyway.
Except that’s where she met him.
The dark, brooding figure at the tiny table in the corner, ignoring Robb and Robb’s friend Theon, and a couple others, favoring silence and his drink. He was in all black, barely acknowledging her and slipped out for a smoke when Robb began to shamelessly flirt. She didn’t care about Robb, she cared about him.
Jon.
She exited, saw him lighting a cigarette against a lap post. She flicked her coat collar up and sidled towards him. “Puis-j’en avoir un?”
“Sorry I don’t speak,” he began, and his eyes— black in the orange lamplight glow— flicking to her. He smiled gently “French.”
She smiled and repeated her question in English.  “Can I have one?  A smoke  that is?”
He stuck the cigarette between his pouty, sinful lips, framed with a cropped dark beard, and reached into his coat pocket, removing a pack. She took one delicately and he lit it, cupping his hands around the tip so the wind didn’t blow it out.
A stream of smoke escaped her nostrils when she puffed and she smiled up at him, hoping he got the hint. “Do you like Paris?”
“Not especially.”
“Aw come on,” she teased. She hummed, closing her eyes and taking in the cold night. The electric buzz is people on the street and at the cafes and bars around them. “Paris is always a good idea.”
“Someone famous said that.”
“Audrey Hepburn.”
He sucked on the cigarette and smiled, a tiny one, the curve of his lip sly rather than shy.  “You aren’t in there with the rest of them.”
“Because it’s my birthday and I want to do what I want to do.”  She stubbed the cigarette out on the post and turned, disposing it in the bin by the door.  A quick text to Missandei: I’m going to skip dinner, I think I have a date, she turned and studied him.  “I’m…”
“Dany,” he said. He shrugged, finishing his smoke. “I remember.”
Her eyes narrowed. “I didn’t think you were listening when Robb introduced me.”
“I was.”  He pulled the tartan scarf around his neck tighter.  He glanced towards Sacré-Cœur, illuminated white in the lights around its base. He smirked at her.  “You going back in?”
She shook her head. “No,” she drawled. She followed his gaze to Sacré-Cœur. “Have you been up there?”
“No.”
“You should. Some of the best views of Paris.”
He chuckled, voice tight. “You should invite Robb.”
“I think he might be a third wheel.”
It took him a second, the gears in his mind turning, understanding what she was saying. He cocked his head. His black curls were in a mess around his face. A few scattered rain drops landed on them, and he shook it free like a dog. Or a wolf, she thought, noting the animal embroidered on the edge of his scarf.
He narrowed his eyes again. “I told you I don’t really like Paris.”
“Why?”
“It’s loud. Busy. Dirty.”
She laughed. “Every city is like that but in Paris it’s different.”
“Why?”
Her bravado got the better of her and she stepped towards him, linking her arm through his. If he didn’t get it now, he was a stupid fool who deserved it when she kicked him into the gutter. “Because,” she murmured, rising to her toes, trying to gaze as directly as she could into his eyes, which she now saw were actually gray. His breathing quickened. “You’re with me.”
The wolf got the point with that comment. He allowed her to keep her arm around his and lead him towards the cathedral.  They spoke of nothing and anything on the long walk through Montmartre to the highest point in the city.
He was in Paris for a research trip.  He was studying medieval weapons and was going out to Bayeux to study some relics. His cousin Robb and friends came along for the free trip.  They spoke about being starving artists in their field-- her literally an artist as it were.  They talked about Paris-- how much he disliked it, how much she adored it.  The top of Sacre-Coeur might have changed his mind, but he pretended he still didn’t get the appeal, so she dragged him back down to the streets, to her favorite all-night boulangerie, into the metro and across town to the Eiffel Tower, spinning in circles on the Champs du Mars.  They ran across the Pont-de-la-Concorde and across the Tullieries.  They wandered down the Seine, smoked cigarettes in the doorsteps of old buildings in the Latin Quarter, and drank cheap wine in one of the tourist-cafes near the Jardin du Luxembourg.
They meandered back through the streets, the city oddly quiet, the rain stopping, and she brought him to her garret studio in the Bastille, up the six flights of stairs to the top of the building, where she shed her coat and boots adn scratched her fat cat Drogon’s ears, leading him to the wrought-iron bars in one of the four windows she had, pushing the window open and crawling out, up onto the roof where she wanted to show him something.
“Look,” she directed, when he climbed up next to her-- less gracefully-- pointing to the lit-up Eiffel Tower.
He cursed under his breath.  “It’s gorgeous.”
“It’s my favorite place in Paris.  The rent is steep, but it’s worth it for this.”  She chuckled.  “And it has the best view.”
He whispered.  “Yes, it does.”
And to her surprise, since she didn’t realize the time, the tower began to twinkle, the 20,000 lights across its metal beams flickering and she glanced sideways; he wasn’t watching the tower, but her face.  She arched her brows.  “You know, the lights twinkle for five minutes every hour, on the hour.”  She smiled and shrugged, whispering.  “It’s a sign that you’re supposed to return to Paris.”
Instead of saying anything, like how silly that was, he leaned in and cupped her face in his wide palm, callused and warm, bringing her face to meet his, kissing gently, in the twinkly glow of the lights.  He pulled back a moment later, breathing, “I think I like Paris.  And you’er right...this place has the best view.”  His eyes were wide on hers, focused.  She chuckled, nodding in agreement, and pulled him back to her for another kiss.
That night she savored every moment with him, as they pulled each other’s clothes off slowly, kissing and touching, every smooth curve and muscle of each other, each hard ridge and plane of his strong, muscular body or her soft, lean one.  He touched her and kissed her and stroked her in ways she’d never experienced, bringing her to heights she’d only dreamed about.  It was intense, the lights behind her closed eyelids when she came, over and over, gripping his shoulders, hair, the bedframe behind her.  He rose up and over her, in and out, their bodies moving as one, thrusting and arching.
She didn’t know if she’d see him again; if this was a one-time, romantic Parisian adventure, but in the morning when she woke, she found him coming back inside from getting pastries and coffees, the faintest scent of cigarettes and her toothpaste on his lips when he kissed her good morning.
They exchanged their information, vowing to speak daily, and he would see her when he got back from Bayeux.  She couldn’t believe when he did call and he kept his word.  “When you lie, words lose their meaning,” he’d explained, obviously reading her surprise.
And when her year ended in Paris, she found herself in London, back at university, dreaming of their magical time there, even when they made time for each other, going back and forth from London to Edinburgh; and he from Edinburgh to Paris during the last couple of months of her year there.
They made it a priority; every single year they spent time in Paris, like they were students again, on that magical night.
They grew older, no longer needing to find the cheapest drinks and cigarettes, or staying in studio garrets, eventually able to experience some of the best hotels and restaurants the city had to offer, as he sold books and became a well-known author and professor, and her dream of becoming a famous artist came true, when sure enough, someone bought one of her paintings on the side of the Seine, someone who happened to be an art dealer in New York.
It was their city, where they met, and where they could remember.
After they married, about fifteen years after that fateful birthday, they visited again, and spun together on the Pont-Neuf, kissing and murmuring how they loved each other and always would, and he took her back to the tiny studio garret, which was now theirs, and sat on the rooftop and watched the Eiffel Tower sparkle.
“Paris is always a good idea,” she murmured, head in the crook of his neck, her back to his front, wrapped in a warm blanket, and his arms tight around her middle.  She tilted her face up to his, sated, and still hopelessly in love with him.  “Take me to Paris, Jon.”
He nuzzled his nose into her cheek, whispering.  “You are Paris, Dany.”
As it was the city where they’d met, fallen in love, and found true happiness, she grinned, because that was his way of saying how much he loved her.  She brushed her lips over his, sighing, “I love you.”
“I love you too.”
And they kissed, as the Eiffel Tower lit up, and she curled up into him, falling asleep in the city of love and lights.

I don't know if this will be cannon or not
That's why I'm posting it here and not my Google docs
But Hoenn Intermission
Maxie was fuming in the past 3 months he has only gotten text, phone calls, amd maybe a video call from Archie. That stupid pirate was testing his patience he has broken three binders thanks to him, and he was going to pay for it. His own admins have been trying and failing to calm his hot temper but it wasn't working, and they were concerned about the other admins.
Maxie took another deep breath as Shelly once again told him Archie wasn't at the former Aqua base she was guarding, but he coukd smell him. He couldn't say that though he already looked crazy. "Shelly I am requesting in a calm fashion to see Archie or at least know the truth on why he has been avoiding me."
"He's been avoiding everyone leader Maxie." Courtney sighs.
"That isn't the point." Maxie grits his teeth and he can feel his teeth covers crack under the strain. "I'm going through you if I must."
Shelly rolls her eyes. "All the doors inside are solid steel Maxie you can't be possibly thinking you can go through them."
"Fucking watch me Shelly."
Tabithia sighs. "Is Matt with Archie? I mean I've just been meaning to speak with him that's all."
Shelly was about to answer as Maxie stomped past her and heads inside. "Maxie I am warning you if you continue I will have to use force to stop you."
Maxie straightens up his binder ripping with his wings and tail threatening to spill forth. "Then fucking fight me because if you're going to keep wasting my time I'm going inside."
Shelly sighs and throws her hands up. "Fine break your arms trying to open metal doors be my guest." She looks at Tabithia and Courtney. "You really weren't lying about how short his temper has been."
Tabithia frowns. "He made so many grunts cry in the past weeks. Is Archie ok?"
Shelly nods. "He is fine but I'd I'm being honest it has something to do with the blue orb and that whole stuff, and he just doesn't want to cause another panic with the public we are trying so hard to be better."
Tabithia hums. "Well I'm going to apologize on Maxie's behalf, you're going to need new doors."
"What did the same thing happen with the red orb?" Shelly braces for an earthquake which never came. However the sound of metal ripping echoed through the Aqua base.
Courtney hums. "Apologizes for the door."
..........
Matt was sitting with Archie when they both watched in horror as the door was wrenched open with green clawed hands. Matt and Archie both had pokeballs on hand fir the worst.
Maxie finally took the door off its hinges and pushed it to the floor. "For fucks sake Archie you dissapear for three months and you were hiding here." He was fuming literally smoke was pouring out of his mouth. "And for what an incident with the blue orb, well fucking newsflash Archibald the red orb cracked and shattered nearly six months ago and I'm fine what the fuck is wrong with you."
Archie was stunned amd in a quiet voice. "Maxie you're smoking."
Maxie takes a deep breath and sighs calming enough that the flamethrower that was ready to blow subsided. The smoke stopped and he growls making both Archie and Matt shudder. "What the fuck have you've been doing Archie?"
"Why are your hands green?" Asking questions would distract Maxie long enoigh to relax he has done it before.
Maxie blinks hunching over again looking at his hands and the remains of his thermal gloves. "I uh they are scales, and I didn't realize I took off my gloves." He blinks and looks at Archie and tilts his head. "Why do you have a tail?"
Archie sighs Maxie finally relaxing. "Well the blue orb shattered I was in a horrible state for 3 weeks scarred Matt and Shelly for life and now I have pokemon parts that match Kyorge and my legs become a full tail or Un fuse with my existing tail in the water." He scowls. "Yeah and aren't you suppose to have red scales if the red orb shattered?"
"Why would my scales be red?" Maxie looks genuinely confused.
Matt spoke up. "Your acting if your scales are normal."
"But they are." Maxie hums and realizes he fucked up. "Ah that's right you guys didn't know."
"Know what Max." Archie stands up walking over to Maxie looking down at him then steps back as Maxie stands up straight and they are the same height.
Maxie stretches and removes his layers then ruined binder letting his wings and tail free. "My mother is the spirit of the desert or am alpha flygon she doesn't actually have a name herself."
Matt jumps back
Archie's face starts to fill with a red blush. "Your mom is a flygon, how does that even work?"
"Alpha pokemon have human forms. That's not the point fuck you for avoiding me, do you have any idea how worried I was about you and you're just here fine. Fuck you Archie I'm going home." Maxie huffs wrapping his wings and tail loosely around his body and picks up his discarded clothes.
Archie grabs Maxie's hand. "Aw Max you were worried about me, that's really sweet."
Maxie growls "fuck it." He pulls Archie into a long kiss. "I fucking hate how much I love you asshole pirate."
Archie is left stunned watching Maxie leave his face bright red. "Love you too Maxie."
Matt totally not caring about the reveal. "SHELLY SHELLY THEY DID IT THEY KISSED YOU OWE ME 200$"

I changed my mind, and decided to que this up immediately after posting the first one. I won't be home when you see this because I'm attending a funeral, but tell me what you think of it and I will see you when I get home!
Note: this was made on Google docs mobile, so when I get a chance I will actually use tab instead of just paragraphs.
"Wars, you said you knew the area!"
"I thought I did, but this is sure as hell not the same way I remember! Those ruins we passed back there? Those are completely new to me! This forest? I don't even recognize half of these plants! We should have reached a town hours ago!"
"Hey, stop fighting, you two, or-"
The group Link had been following for the last few hours came to a halt as the one with pink-tipped hair argued with the one with a blue scarf. He couldn't tell if they were a threat yet, they just seemed like lost travelers. Then again, that was the main way the Yiga clan tried to trick him.
Pinky and Wars kept arguing, until finally the smallest one in rainbow colors seemed to snap. "How about we admit it. We are lost, and just happened to find something that reminded Wars of home. It was NOONE's fault, because we ignored the obvious signs something was wrong. Now, we are lost in the middle of a forest, and unless you have an idea of what we should do, then SHUT UP!"
The group all seemed shocked by his outburst, Link and the rainbow included, and once they all seemed to get over it, the kid apologized. "Sorry, I didn't mean to yell."
The oldest one, probably the leader, said, "No, it's ok. Today has been a long day, and everyone seems on edge. Perhaps we should set up camp early, does that sound good to everyone?"
The group nodded collectively, and started to set up in the clearing that could barely fit all of them. The one in a green tunic and no pants volunteered for the night's first watch, and while it wouldn't be for a while, they seemed relaxed a bit more by the fact someone was willing to do it.
Link, who had been hiding a good distance away from them, stood up. He got a stealth potion that would last him a few hours at least ready, then decided he would investigate that night.
As the sun set, an awful smell enveloped the forest. "Legend, what did you do?!"
"I don't know! It was fine a minute ago!"
"It's smoking! How did you burn SOUP of all things?!"
"I didn't burn it, it just got too hot!"
"Because you ****ed up, Legend! That's literally how things burn up!"
"Wind, watch your mouth."
Link had just come back from following the path the group of strangers had taken, looking to see if they dropped anything interesting, when he heard the commotion. It smelled like burning hair or that one shrine he had found with the awful cook. Maybe they were cousins?
As Link got closer to get a better look, he saw four people standing around a large cooking pot with a brown/green liquid with chunks in it. Pathetic. Are all of them as bad cooks as that one? Link was amazed they had survived however long they had been traveling.
Pinkey poked the 'soup' with a wooden ladle. "It's still edible, look, the vegetables seem cooked enough."
 "With all due respect, I don't know if I would want to eat that," the kid in a blue shirt said with a grimace. "I don't know if anyone else would either."
The old one took the ladle and used it to try a small sip of what they were calling a soup, and his face scrunched up immediately.
"Uh, Time?" The blue kid tapped the man's shoulder.
The man swallowed the drink, coughed, then said, "It is… certainly better than last time."
A few of the others gave their opinions, from encouraging to neutral, before deciding it was better than nothing.
None of them looked that happy about it.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
After what theoretically could have been called dinner, the one in the green tunic, which Link had identified as being named "Hyrule," started circling around the camp, gradually making them larger and larger before returning close and starting again. Near the middle of the third round, Link drank his stealth potion and snuck into the campsite.
There was a young adult in tan with a tall belt, there was a boy in blue(wind), there was a kid in rainbow, there was a young adult with a wolf pelt on his shoulders, still on in his sleep for some reason, there was one in red with pink hair tips(legend), and then there was the leader. Link got a good look at him. He had a fancy set of armour, a big sword, a bad eye, but the strangest thing was he had familiar markings covering his face. They were almost the same…
As the ones Link saw in nearly every mirror, looking right back at himself.
"Time?"
Link turned towards the voice to see the one called Hyrule looking at him. He had to play this right. "Yes?"
"Oh, thank the goddess. What are you up to?"
"I couldn't sleep, so I was going to see if you wanted off early." This was dangerous. If he realized the real Time was sleeping soundly next to him, he would wake up all the others, and then he'd have eight grumpy travelers armed to the teeth on his trail in seconds.
"You sure that's ok with you?"
"Yes, get some rest."
"Thanks, Time," the boy said with a smile. "I will."
Link somewhat directed Hyrule towards the opposite side of where Time was. He was extremely lucky the fire was ruining the boy's night vision.
"Time?"
Link stopped and turned his head a bit. "Yeah?"
There was a pause. "Thank you for being here for us."
Link smiled. "You don't have to mention it," mimicking the somewhat fancy way he had heard Time use words. "Goodnight."
Hyrule mumbled it back, seemingly exhausted from the travel.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The next morning, Hyrule woke up feeling well rested. The birds were singing a song only they knew, the trees provided shade from the early morning sun, the wind rustled leaves and bushes softly, and a nice smell emanated from the cooking pot.
Wait, did someone cook something edible? Hyrule shot up, feeling excited to see what had made someone unlock their inner cook.
"Hey, mornin, Hyrule!"
"Goodmorning, Wind! What's cooking?"
Wind was grinning like an idiot. "No idea, but none of us made it, that's for sure! Four woke up and saw it cooking, then woke up the rest of us, except for you and sky. Time says you didn't wake him up for his shift, so we thought you could use some re-"
Hyrule was confused. "Wait, what? Run that by me one more time."
Wind's grin fell just a little bit, before coming back up. "Four woke up first, saw something was cooking, and woke everyone but you and sky because we thought you must have kept watch the whole night. Is that not what happened?"
"Yeah, Time said he couldn't sleep last night, so he took over the watch early for me."
Time, who had been listening in, said "I think I would know my sleep schedule better than you would. You didn't wake me up last night, and I didn't wake myself up, that's for certain."
"Then who-"
Four hit the pot a few times. "Breakfast is ready, guys!"
The questions could wait. Nobody had had a good meal for at least a week or two, so they were excited to try the mysterious meal.
It. Was. Delicious!
After discussion, it was determined to be a mushroom, meat and rice based meal. The meat used was probably venison, and a high quality type at that. It was served with some mushrooms nobody recognized but everybody loved, and a strange rice they couldn't find an exact comparison of.
Idle conversation was of generally positive things and how beautiful the world was. All of their problems seemed far away, and the day promised to be a great one. As the last of the food was eaten up, and the bowl was starting to be wiped as clean as it would get, Twilight brought up the question on everyone's mind.
"I wonder who made this for us."
"Maybe it was a ghost!" Wind exclaimed.
"Maybe it was a passing traveler?" Four said at the same time.
Legend laughed. "It was not a ghost, you idiot!"
"You don't know that," Wind huffed. "I met a ghost once, she was nice!"
"You did NOT meet a ghost!"
"Yeah I did!"
"Cut it out you two," Time said with his signature 'stop' look. "Whoever did it, they must have been a nice person. Don't argue about things this good, ok?"
"Ok!" Wind said. Legend just scoffed.
Nobody noticed the person sitting on top of a tree, fiddling a strange ocarina.
I hope this was ok! I will be the first to admit my writing style isn't the best, but I think this is one of my better works at the moment. Comments and criticism is appreciated, and I may edit this if I find stupid things I want to change/fix. I should be home Friday, probably Thursday afternoon. Anyway, see you next time!

It seemed like forever for the ambulance to get there, Rafael just sat there trembling and crying while you started to convulse in his arms. Finally the door busted open and EMT’s threw you on a gurney and took you downstairs. Rafael sprinted behind them and jumped in the back of the ambulance as it sped away.
“Y/N….Carino please, please don’t die on me…” Rafael stroked your hair as you were hooked up to oxygen and anti drug meds. It was like literal hell having to watch this all over again, even worse that it was someone he actually...loved.
“Please, please don’t die…” He looked up to the sky.
----------------
Rafael paced the hospital waiting area furiously, they wouldn’t let him go back with you once the ambulance got you both there. When he saw Sonny running up the hallway towards him, he grabbed him by the neck and shoved him up against the wall.
“I TOLD YOU!!!!” He screamed violently, while several nurses ran over and pulled them apart.
“Rafael! Jesus Christ--” Sonny was breathing heavily while he tried to recover from Rafael’s ambush.
“I told you something was wrong, I told you I knew her better than you did!” He tried to wrestle away from the nurses.
“Okay I’m sorry, I’m sorry alright?!” Sonny yelled, tears starting to fill his eyes. “I should have listened to you--”
“You’re god damn right you should have!!!” Rafael continued to scream.“ She could die right now, do you realize that?”
“Of course I realize that!” Sonny screamed back while looking around them, trying not to make a scene.
“God dammit Carisi, she knew better than you. Why didn't you listen to her?!” Rafael was beginning to cry; he was so upset.
“Barba I--” Sonny started to apologize.
“Excuse me, is Miss Y/L/N’s family here?” An orderly came out from the back.
“I am!” Sonny forgot about Rafael and ran over to the man, Rafael did the same.
“I’m sorry sir but this is really just a family conversation--” He started to dismiss Rafael, but Sonny put his hand up.
“He’s fine,” He assured the doctor.
“Right, well--” He cleared his throat as he led them to a more quiet area. “The damage to Y/N’s body is pretty bad,”
“....God,” Sonny muttered, putting a hand over his forehead.
“The mouthwash has several chemicals that aren’t in traditional grain alcohols, mostly lethal. And her pancreas, liver and gallbladder were already severely damaged from the years of alcohol abuse,” He explained as he looked gravely between the two men.
“No…” Rafael put his hands over his face.
Flashbacks of a very similar conversation happening between a doctor and his mother filled his mind. The way his mother fell against the wall when she heard the doctor say there was a good chance his father was never waking up.
“How bad is it, doc?” Sonny’s voice quivered, and Rafael instinctively took his hand.
“Well, we had to completely remove the gallbladder, and parts of her pancreas so she’s most likely going to develop diabetes,” He further explained. “...And she most likely will need a liver transplant, depending on how the next 24 hours go,”
“Christ…” Sonny whipped his hand from Rafael’s touch and put both of his hands over his head while he paced.
“Can we see her?” Rafael asked.
“Yes, you know your daughter is very lucky to be alive,” The doctor informed them.
“...Excuse me?” Sonny asked while he and Rafael exchanged confused looks.
“...Are you two not her dads?” The doctor waved his pen between the two men.
“Oh my god,” Rafael muttered in horror, wanting to vomit right there.
“Uh, no sir-- no we’re not,” Sonny shook his head. “I’m her uncle and this is my partner,”
“Excuse me?!” Rafael practically screamed in disgust.
“...Do you want them to let you back there to see her or not, honey?” Sonny said through his teeth.
“Right,” Rafael nodded uncomfortably, taking Sonny’s hand once more. “We’re her...Uncles,” He tried not to grimace.
“Oh, right. So sorry sirs,” The doctor apologized once more as he led your “Uncles” to the room you were in. You were unconscious, but breathing on your own.
“She might be out a while from the meds, if you’d like to come back tomorrow,” The doctor informed them once more.
“Uh, I think we’ll wait at least for a little while, if you don’t mind doc,” Sonny replied while Rafael walked up to your sleeping body and just stroked your hair lovingly.
“Whatever you two want to do is fine with me,” He nodded. “I have other patients to see, if you’ll excuse me,”
Sonny nodded to him and he walked out of the room leaving the three of you alone. Sonny ran his hands through his hair while Rafael pulled a chair up next to your bed, still stroking your hair.
“...Barba I think you should leave,” Sonny said softly.
“...What?” He laughed. “Are you...are you fucking joking me, Carisi?”
“No look,” He took a deep breath. “I’m sorry I didn’t listen to you, I’m sorry I didn’t hear her. And I’m sorry that I just...gave up, protecting her,”
“Yeah well--”
“But I hear you now, and-- and she’s going to need to go away,” He looked at your sleeping body sadly.
“She’s in no shape to go anywhere, Carisi,” Rafael clutched your hand as if he was protecting you.
“Not now, no,” Sonny agreed. “But when she’s better--”
“We don’t know if she’s going to get better!” Rafael suddenly stood up and walked towards him; Sonny backed up as he approached, afraid Rafael was going to grab him again.
“Even more reason you shouldn’t be here!” Sonny argued.
“What?”
“Barba look,” He cautiously put a hand on Rafael’s shoulder. “I...I get that you two have some kind of-- I don’t know, connection,” He glanced at you.
“But it doesn’t change the fact that you barely know her, and she barely knows you. You have a job and a life waiting for you tomorrow, you can’t be sitting here sitting vigil for some girl you slept with once,”
“How dare you fucking say that to me, Carisi,” Rafael’s eyes narrowed as he snapped his shoulder from Sonny’s grasp.
“How fucking dare you. First you don’t want me anywhere near her, then you tell her she’s nothing to me, then suddenly you think that I’m in love with her, and-- and now that I’m finally...attached to her-- you want me to just leave her alone again?”
“No, I never wanted you near her because of this exact situation!” Sonny hissed, trying not to wake you. “I told you straight up that she was complicated, and that you weren’t about that life,”
“I am about that life-- I’m serious, about her,” Rafael corrected himself, rolling his eyes at the terms Sonny used.
“Well I don’t think you should be,” Sonny crossed his arms.
“This is the jealousy thing again, isn’t it?” Rafael licked his lips angrily. “You and your stupid ego can’t stand the fact that we--”
“That is NOT it Rafael and you fucking know it,” Sonny narrowed his eyes.
“Then what is it?” Rafael crossed his arms. “It’s clearly not because it’s too much for me, because I’m flat out telling you it’s not,”
“Rafael--” Sonny placed his hands over his face. “I have spent my life protecting this girl, okay? And I may have dropped the ball here, but that just means that I will sure as hell not do it again. And that means that I have to have her best interest at heart,”
“What does that even mean?” Rafael looked at him quizzically.
“Her whole world is different now, Barba!” Sonny gestured to you. “You heard the doc. She has no gallbladder, whatever the fuck that means, she will probably get diabetes, god knows what will happen even if she needs a liver transplant, but my guess is it ain’t good!”
“...Well she won’t be able to drink alcohol,” Rafael said softly.
“Which will make her sobriety that much more urgent and permanent, Barba,” Sonny stepped towards your bed.
“She’s gonna have a long hard road ahead of herself no matter which way this goes right now, and keeping her on track is the only way she is gonna get through it. You think she’s gonna be able to focus on anything but you if you stay here?”
“I can help her--” Rafael insisted, glancing down at your innocent sleeping face. It broke his heart you were hurting, now all he wanted to do was take care of you and make sure you never hurt again.
“You don’t have the time or the freedom to do that, Rafael,” Sonny said sternly. “And you know it,” Sonny’s statement brought him back to reality.
“And you do?” He looked back up at Sonny.
“I’m a detective, Barba. It’s not like I do that much,” Sonny shrugged. “And I have enough PTO for a bit to take care of her. And she’s my responsibility! She’s MY family, Liv will understand that. What she won’t understand is you sitting Shiva at some young girl’s bedside who you barely know,”
“....And what are you going to do when she gets better?” Rafael ran a finger down your bare arm, wishing you would wake up and stop this nonsense your cousin was spewing.
“I’ll ask around,” Sonny now sat next to your bed. “I’ll find her a good place, somewhere she can be taken care of the right way, not some creepy mental hospital,”
“...Alright fine,” He sighed, looking at his watch. It was getting late, and he had an early court date.
“I’m coming back--”
“No, you’re not,” Sonny shook his head. “Look I promise you if she gets worse and needs your emergency liver or kidney or somethin’, I’ll let you know. Other than that, just-- leave her be,”
Rafael flashed back to the last time Sonny had used those words, and how as soon as he agreed, you heard him and it destroyed you. He couldn’t do that again, what if you could still hear him?
“No, I’m coming back--”
“Barba if you come back here I’m gonna tell the nurses that we broke up and you are no family member of hers,”
“You,” He shook his head. “You wouldn’t do that--”
“If it keeps you away from her, I’ll do anything right now Barba, I’m sorry,” Sonny gave him a sympathetic look.
“...She’ll never forgive you for this, Carisi,” He warned Sonny. “When she finds out you kept us apart she will never forgive you,”
“What are you Romeo and Juliet all of a sudden, counselor?” Sonny scoffed. “Give me a friggin break. I’m sure she’ll get over it, when she’s clean and sober and thinking straight,”
“I’ll never forgive you for this,” he growled with a death glare.
“...Yeah, well--” Sonny stood up and started escorting Rafael out the door. “I guess that’s something I’ll just have to live with,”
Rafael glared at him once more before turning on his heels and stomping down the hall, just as you stirred from your med nap.
“Sunshine?” Sonny quickly ran to your bedside.
“Rafa..?” You sleepily asked, you swore you heard his voice just moments ago.
“It’s Sonny,” He nervously looked back at the door, making sure Rafael hadn’t heard you wake up and came running in again.
“Oh,” You blinked several times, trying to get your vision back. When the blur in your pupils resolved, you saw Sonny’s smiling face beaming at you.
“Hey there,” He kissed your forehead. “You scared the shit outta me there, Sunshine,”
“...I’m so sorry, Sonny,” You began to cry in remorse.
“Hey hey hey,” Sonny took you in his arms and shushed you while he rocked you. “Shh shh shh, you’re alright. I’m sorry I didn’t hear you when you were asking for help, I just--I just let you go,”
“...But Rafael didn’t,” You sniffled as you looked around the room for him. “Where is he?”
“He uh--” Sonny stammered. “He left, Sunshine. Early court meeting tomorrow, y’know. Lawyer stuff,”
“Right,” You nodded.
“...He said he wouldn’t be coming back,” Sonny added with a sympathetic look.
“What?” You blinked in disbelief. Had he really just taken off? Without even saying goodbye?
“Well it’s just,” Sonny took your hands. “Honey you’re-- you’re gonna have a lot to go through these next few weeks, maybe months. And Rafael--”
“He doesn’t have time for that,” You finished for him, accepting the truth.
“Yeah,” Sonny nodded slowly.
“Right,” You picked at your blanket as you stared down at it morosely. “Well, I guess I shouldn’t have expected anything more than him dropping me here. He tried telling me that he was--”
“He was what?” Sonny quirked an eyebrow. You thought about telling him that Rafael had said he was in love with you, but you weren’t entirely sure that happened anymore, given how out of it you were at the apartment.
“...He was ready for a relationship,” You lied. “But I guess he wasn’t ready for a dumpster fire of a girlfriend,”
“You’re not a dumpster fire, Sunshine,” Sonny assured you.
“...Yeah clearly this doesn’t scream ‘damaged goods’,” You gestured to all the wires you were hooked up to.
“You’re not--” Sonny sighed and shook his head as he wrapped his arms back around you. “You’ll find someone,”
“...Not someone like him,” You whispered sadly, tears dripping down onto your IV tube.
“Well hey,” Sonny coughed as he tried to change the subject. “I better get goin’ make sure you get some good sleep,”
“...But I was just--” You tried to say you had been sleeping this whole time.
“I’ll come check on you tomorrow, kay?” Sonny kissed your head and started heading towards the door. He hated to do this, but he had to keep you safe. He turned around and gave you a sad smile.
“Hey, Sunshine?”
“Yeah, Son?”
“I uh, I don’t wanna rub it in or nothin’, I just--” Sonny cleared his throat. “Barba wanted me to tell you not to contact him anymore,”
“...Oh,” You looked over at your phone, which was charging on the table next to your bed.
“He just thought it would be easier, y’know? Clean break and all,” Sonny lied with a sad smile.
“Yeah, sure no of course,” You nodded, trying to keep it together.
“Alright well, I’ll see ya,” He nodded one more time before shutting the door, leaving you alone.
You immediately grabbed your phone and began typing a message to Rafael, telling him how you were sorry and that you never should have tried to kick him out, and that he saved your life and that you knew you were a huge mess, but that you would clean yourself and do everything in your power to be good enough for him if he just let you--and you just stared at it.
You re-read it a thousand times, tears streaming down your cheeks. You couldn’t send this, it was pathetic. He already made his choice, he tried to tell you he loved you and you had blown him off by almost dying in his arms. And he ran. You couldn’t blame him either, you’d run away faster than a Kenyan track star if you were him.
After going through all that bullshit with his dad, he’d never want to relive that with you, some girl he barely knew. There was no way. And begging him to come back to you after all the shit you said to him at your apartment was just pitiful.
You deleted the message and then started to delete his contact info, but you knew you needed to be drastic. If it was a clean break he wanted, you’d have to give it to him. You’d already put him through way too much stress and punishment than he deserved, you had to be stopped. You highlighted his number and hit “BLOCK NUMBER”, before deleting it from your phone.
There. Now there was no way you could find him, or vice versa. Clean break. You put the phone down next to you and laid down, realizing what you had just done. You had just deleted the potential love of your life from your existence, forever. You cried yourself to sleep, only dreaming of Rafael.
=============
Rafael laid down in his bed after getting home and showering the bad day off of him. He opened the text thread of your messages, and saw the ellipsis light up, signaling that you were typing. It was there for a long time, he became more and more anxious as they just flashed in the darkness, taunting him. He was so happy you were okay, he had to tell you what Sonny said but that he would never be able to keep him from you. He waited and waited, and then the dots were gone. He waited a moment for you to send it, but soon got impatient and just texted you
“Y/N I’m so glad you’re okay, you had me so worried. I miss you,”
He hit SEND, but was met with the most horrifying response:
“The number you have texted has blocked you from contacting them.”
“No…” He muttered alone in the dark. “No, this can’t be happening,”
Did Sonny have your phone? Did he do this? Did he tell you something to make you do this? Did you do this on your own when you realized he had left. Sonny had to have told you something bad, something diabolical. He had no way of contacting you now, and he would never get into the hospital to see you.
What was going on?
-------------
The next morning after his court session, Rafael headed over to the precinct to talk to Sonny. He practically sprinted through the door into the bullpen, to find it empty.
“...Where’s the SVU squad?” Rafael asked a cop at the front desk.
“Do I look like a concierge, Barba?” The cop rolled his eyes. “Does my badge say ‘doorman’? I don’t keep tabs on you people!”
“Thanks Louie,” Rafael rolled his eyes as he walked out of the station, dialing Sonny’s number on his phone.
“Hello?”
“What did you do?”
“Barba?”
“What did you do, Carisi?!”
“What do you mean?”
“Y/N blocked my number,”
“Well good--”
“NO, not good. Carisi. What did you say to her?”
“Y’know Barba, maybe you should take the hint and move on,”
“Oh fuck you, Carisi,” He growled into the phone. “I’m going to the hospital,”
“Yeah well, good luck getting in here counselor,” Sonny shook his head with a small laugh, glancing over at you in your room, while he stood outside. “I’ve told the nurses you were a deadbeat dad who wanted to kidnap our niece for yourself, so they’re on alert not to let you anywhere near her,”
“You’re evil,” His voice was low and horrified.
“I’m doing what’s best for my baby cousin, Barba. If that makes me the bad guy, so be it,” Sonny spoke like a mob boss, tracing the glass on the window to your room.
“I’ll see her when she gets out,” Rafael sneered.
“Well that might be difficult, seeing as I’ve found her a very nice place to go as soon as she gets outta here. Somewhere far away from here, and you,” Sonny couldn’t help but smirk.
“No, Carisi don’t do this,” Rafael became desperate, his angry threats turned to pathetic pleas. “Please don’t send her away-- I love her,”
“If you love her you’ll let her go, Rafael,” Sonny simply said, ending the call before Rafael could say anything else.
“GOD DAMMIT!!!!” Rafael screamed in the middle of the foot traffic, making people turn and stare at him.
He had to fix this. He couldn’t let you leave thinking he didn’t want you. He couldn’t lose you, not now. Not after everything.
Was he going to lose you forever?

It’s Not a Competition - Or is it? (Julie Ertz x Reader)
Tumblr media
Every time you get off the train on your way to work, a woman beats you to the corner. One day you’ve had enough of losing and decided to race her.
Based on the line “I’ve beaten you every day for 2 months straight, cant break the streak now”
Authors Note: So this isn’t technically a request, but @literaryhedgehog wanted do this and I think it came out cute!!!
You really didn’t understand what was happening, or why. It had started out so normally. Every morning you would step off the train, and walk to work. You noticed that there happened to be a person (a very beautiful person) who would stay two strides ahead of you all the way to the corner where you turned onto different streets. It wasn’t like a big deal, you kind of thought it was a coincidence. There are just some people that you associate with certain spaces. That cleaner guy you always saw and said hi to in Costco. That person who sat a few spaces away from you on the train. This pretty woman who shared part of your walk from the station to work.
But then one morning you were slightly earlier than usual. There was actually an opening in the crowd so you exited the train station more quickly than usual. You continued your walk to work as normal and then this woman JOGS past you, her arms bent like a freaking cartoon dinosaur, and yells “I’ve been winning for a month, can’t stop now. Have a good day, see you tomorrow!”
So. Well.  You weren’t the MOST competitive person you knew. You hadn’t flipped a table after losing Monopoly or anything. (Mainly because you REFUSED to lose. And because your friend Kelley had beaten you to the punch). But… okay you were a competitive person, and it was ON.
You tried speeding up, jogging and walking so slowly that it was actually painful. It didn’t matter what you did, said person would always beat you to the corner. But not today. You didn’t care if it was stupid (or not an actual competition), you were going to beat her to the corner.
You had prepared over the last week to leave your work papers and laptop at the office, so all you had to carry was a phone in one hand and wallet in the other.Today the second you stepped off the train, you were sprinting towards the corner.  You threw apologies over your shoulders as you barely missed unsuspecting patrons of the Chicago train station. The corner was in sight a few blocks ahead when you heard the pound of feet behind you. You gritted your teeth and leaned into your strides.
“Holy shit, for a desk jockey you're pretty fast,” you gave the quickest glance over your shoulder to see the woman behind you, her long blond ponytail whipping from side to side as she ran a few yards behind you.
“I played soccer in college, and I’m not a desk jockey. I’m a doc for one of the teams,” you bit out, not wanting to waste the air on conversation.
“Oh yeah? Where’d you play?” How was she not breathless?
“Stanford.”
“Wait, are you Y/n?” She asked, pulling you to a stop. You stared at the hand touching your arm. She quickly dropped it.
“Uh, yeah. How did you know that?”
“My teammate has been talking nonstop about her roommate from college who was joining our Medical team.”
“Kelley or Christen?”
“Kelley. She told me all about how were, like, one of the best starting forwards on the team. And how you got into med school on like, a full scholarship. And how you-”
“Should have known it was Kelley,” You cut her off, rolling your eyes. Kelley was always trying to be your wingwoman. “Don’t listen to everything she says. Most of it is just hype and good intentions.” You were going to have a word with her this afternoon. Kelley was more obsessed with getting you a girlfriend than you were. Last time she had interfered in your love life it had ended in flames and pain and the girl running off to marry someone else. The flames were not an exaggeration. You had literally burned anything she left at your house.
“So you don’t have dance moves that can make anyone swoon?” She pouted dramatically, lifting a hand to her forehead, falling against you in a mock swoon. You felt heat spread across your cheeks. The only time you willingly danced is when you were sufficiently inebriated to get you past your shyness and self consciousness.
“Not unless you’re three tequilas past the legal limit,” you said, lips twitching slightly.
“At least we know that she wasn’t joking about your humor,” She grinned at you, and flicked her hair over her shoulder. You couldn’t help but watch it, the way the movement rippled down the strand. You shook your head, and checked the time on your phone. You were a good ten minutes earlier than usual, and there was a line of shops just opening up for the day. You nodded your head towards one.
“Wanna get a coffee with me, so I can set the record straight about everything else she told you?”
“Sure, but just know that there will be absolutely nothing straight about it,” she smirked salaciously at you.
You sputtered, not quite sure how to respond to what seemed to be a very direct pickup line. “I mean, if that’s what you want, maybe we should just do dinner then, you know, so we have ample time to not be straight? Wait. That sounds really bad,” you muttered. Why was flirting so hard.
“Come on doc, let’s get some coffee and get to the stadium before you spontaneously combust. You know, I might have to bring a fire extinguisher to our date if you keep blushing like that,” She laughed, entertaining your fingers and pulling you towards the coffee shop. How had this morning turned into two dates. You shook your head, opening and closing your mouth several times before finally coming up with a good comeback.
“We’ll just get icecream afterwards to cool me down,” You smiled triumphantly, only to be stopped by the woman. Her finger tilted your chin so you were nearly nose to nose.
“Who said I didn’t want you all warmed up,” She winked, before continuing to drag you along. What had you gotten yourself into?

I just finished TLE and I’m in love, thank you so much for your beautiful writing! I had a random fun characterization Q, but no worries if you don’t wanna answer! For our 4 Marauders and Lily: what do you hc they’d each be like at an amusement park? Not sure if the wizarding world has those, but in any case, do you think the gang would like extreme roller coasters if they had the chance to ride them? Or would some of them refuse to ride or be secretly nervous on them? 😁
oh my god, anon, you have no idea the wormhole this message sent me down 🙈
See, this reminded me rather forcefully of a plot line from a long, LONG time ago (like, a decade ago, back when TLE was nothing more than a few scribbled scenes I kept in a word doc in a secret folder on my school laptop LOL), in which James came to apologize to Lily over the summer after 5th year but it just so happened to be the week that the Cokeworth Fun Fair came to town and oh no circumstances happened and James has to attend with Lily and then it turns into a slight fake dating situation due to a Muggle boy who has been aggressively pursuing a thoroughly disinterested Lily and so they pretend that James goes to some elite boarding school and studies theoretical physics (“No one will ask questions,” Lily explains), and all in all James has a great time even though he’s tragically bad at bumper cars and also deeply baffled by the goldfish prizes and then eventually they have a Soft Moment™ by the carousel as the fun fair is dying down and Lily asks him why he isn’t nice like this at school? and James is all “because I’m stupid?” and they have a heart to heart and Lily is like oh no why am I feeling things I’m not supposed to do that.
And just in case you think I’m making this up:
They stopped to watch the carousel go around again, though this time there was no one riding it and it looked rather lonesome.
“So what do you think of your first muggle funfair?” asked Lily, leaning against the back of a stall, watching the ornate horses go round and round.
“Fascinating,” said James enthusiastically, and Lily laughed. “Although I’m still confused about the goldfish. And physics.”
Maybe it was the strange quiet of the closing festival or that continuously discomfiting feeling of two distinct parts of her life colliding, but something compelled Lily to turn to James and say, “How come you’re not nice like this at school?” The moment she said it she wished she hadn’t, and she looked hastily at the ground, her cheeks burning.
James was quiet for a moment. “Because I’m an idiot,” he said finally.
None of this is in TLE. Not even a little bit. 😂 But after your message sparked this long-repressed memory I was like “I must find this immediately,” and I went hunting through all my old files to the oldest of the old. I keep literally everything, so there it was, lurking under a folder helpfully titled “old” — but my god let me tell you, reading your own writing from a decade ago is…humbling. 🙈🙈🙈
But while for the most part this reread was a painful endeavor for me, what was really interesting is that some of the dialogue is very clearly an early precursor to bits that made it into the TLE2 draft. Like, so far removed from this very specific, bizarre scenario, but the bones of the conversation are the same. (Not the one above lol). Sometimes I forget how long this silly story has been simmering in my brain!!!
Anyway, this hasn’t answered your question at all, but it evoked such a weirdly specific memory that I had to go on a giant tangent 😂
As far as head canons for the Marauders: Sirius is obviously super into near-death experiences via rollercoaster, James is going to do anything Sirius dares to, even if he’s secretly a little unsure about these wobbly Muggle devices, Peter tags along but ends up getting sick, Remus abjectly refuses (“I feel plenty nauseous on my own without external help, thanks”) and instead explores the wonders of fair food (also leading to nausea, but oh well). Lily likes the fair games best because she beats James handily every time, despite his increasingly desperate attempts to win her a giant teddybear. Sirius accidentally wins a goldfish and is distraught because he is in no way emotionally prepared to be a parent.
And with that I will see myself out. 🤡

Time and Time Again
Tumblr media
The jungle makes her uneasy. Everything makes her assume the worst. She hasn't felt this anxious in years. There’s one person who doesn’t make her feel that way, though.
One day I’ll cool it with the Neverland AUs... today is not that day.
So, while bored as hell, I was scrolling through my docs and I saw “untitled” and said hmmmm what are you? And I found something interesting! A short piece of this was written back when I was very newly working on It’s About Bloody Time for a scrapped plot that features a more anxious Emma and a more monstrous Neal. Some of this may be familiar in that case, if you read that one. I added some pieces to it and we now have some Neverland hurt(fear)/comfort posted for @neverlandnewyear. It’s a one shot and I don’t intend to add any more to this but that doesn’t mean it wont happen
Thank you to @the-darkdragonfly for being the best beta ever and hashing out this plot with me (but not for trying to get me to make this a MC 😡)❤️

He says he wants what’s best for her, but he doesn’t even know what that is. She told him her feelings wouldn’t change, hell, she literally told him that she wished he had died, and he still said that he wouldn’t stop fighting for her. What makes him think she wants him to fight for her? What makes him think he had ever started fighting in the first place?
 So, when Neal says he wants to stop for water and to relieve himself on their way back to Tink’s, Emma doesn’t object to a short break. She feels as though she had worked off her frustrations with the arduous walk through the trees, leading the way and setting a fairly fast pace. She sits on a rock as Neal steps away from the group of three, leaving just Emma and Hook alone with the noisy, humid jungle.
 “I apologize, Emma,” he starts softly. “I realize that my foolish actions could have placed your son at risk, and for that I am truly sorry.”
Emma isn’t surprised to hear Hook’s voice through the sounds of the birds and insects surrounding them. “You put yourself at risk, too. That was stupid, Hook. How the hell are we supposed to get off this island without you to sail the ship back to Storybrooke?”
 He smirks slightly, breathing out a soft sigh and taking out his leather covered flask. “I’m sure you would have found a way. Bae was rather skilled at captaining, back in the day.”
 Emma rolls her eyes, grabbing the flask when he offers it to her as he sits down on the same rock. “Well, that plan would have been foiled too if the both of you had your shadows ripped from your bodies. Then the only option would be to have the Dark One sail us home.” He narrows his eyes at her and takes the flask back. She can tell that he knows she’s joking but hopes that he can see her point.
 “The Dark One is lucky to have a place on my ship at all. There is not a chance in all the realms that he steps foot behind the wheel.”
 She scoffs lightly. “Remember that next time you want to try and impress me by doing something dumb.”
 “Your wish is my command, love.” She expects to see a smirk on his face, but instead is met with his eyes making contact with hers, looking serious under his dark brows.
 She stands up again, unable to sit still. She’s still keyed up from earlier in the Dark Hollow, and she feels herself getting jittery and restless after not moving for a few moments.
 Hook can apparently read her quite well, because he stands as well and offers her another swig from the flask. “You’ve got to calm down a bit, Swan. Perhaps I should go and fill your canteen as well?”
 “No,” she answers immediately, surprising herself. “I mean, I’m okay. I have enough water, just… stay here.” She’s not sure what the hell has gotten into her, but suddenly the thought of being left alone in the jungle makes her skin crawl.
 He smirks again, raising a brow before saying, “as you wish, Swan.” She half expected him to respond with some sort of brazen flirty comment, but instead he’s silent for a few moments.
 She nods, noting the anxiety still coursing through her, and he’s right. She does need to relax, but she can’t. She can’t get her mind off of Neal eventually making his way back through the jungle; keeps hearing him break through the trees and trying to talk to her again. The thought of Hook leaving for water and Neal coming back before Hook does sends her into a tailspin and suddenly, she’s nearly panicking. If Hook left now and Neal came back, he would absolutely try and have a conversation with her again, and she doesn’t want to even consider the fact that he’ll probably say something else about trying to win her back.
 “Swan? Emma, what is it, love? You’re turning white. Are you sure you’re feeling alright?”
 She’s nodding again, “I’m fine, I’m fine, I just… don’t go anywhere, okay? I don’t need water.” She feels like she can hardly breathe, her chest rising and falling painfully. Hook is in front of her quickly, placing his hand on her left arm and looking into her eyes so intensely she thinks her head might explode.
 “Emma, what’s wrong?”
 With her chest heaving, she responds, “I’m okay, it’s fine.” She feels his hand running up and down her arm, his hook making similar motions on the other, and the cold metal contrasts her hot skin nicely.
 “Just talk to me, darling. What’s the matter?” Images of Neal coming back through the brush rush through her mind again, this time of him catching them in this compromising position and his possessive nature exploding out of him, and her breathing quickens. “Whatever it is, it’s alright. I’m here, I won’t go anywhere, love.”
 She feels herself relaxing slightly at his statements, knowing that she won’t be alone and in danger of facing her own thoughts in the next few moments. But then Hook says, “you’re safe now and we’re going to get Henry just as soon as Baelfire returns,” and she feels a tightness in her chest again.
 “I don’t want- I mean-” she feels as though she can’t make a coherent thought as her breathing quickens some more.
 “Don’t want what, Swan? What’s on your mind?” His voice is so soft and soothing to her that she practically melts, almost able to let go of the steel grip her thoughts have on her.
 It’s the tenderness in his voice that sways her to speak and distracts her from the ache in her ribs as her heart slams against them. “Neal, I don’t… I can’t face him. I don’t want to face him alone.” Hook’s face twists up, his brows pinching together and his lips pursing as if he’s deep in thought.
 “What do you mean, love?” She finally looks him back in the eyes and sees them swimming with worry.
 “I just… I just don’t want to talk to him now. I told him everything and he barely listened, and I don’t want to go through that right now. If you leave, nothing will stop him from...” she knows she’s rambling and hardly making sense, but she gets a feeling like Hook understands what she’s saying.
 “Is this about your secret?” She nods. “Because you told him how you feel?” Another nod. “But then he and I were idiotic, and you nearly lost him again, is that it?” His perceptiveness impresses her, but she can’t shake the feeling that something he said isn’t quite on the money. “He’s your first love, Swan. It’s perfectly normal for you to fear losing him.”
 “I don’t think that’s it,” she says, shaking her head. “I’m not scared of losing him, I’ve already lost him and come to terms with it. I think I’m just scared of him hurting me again.” Emma is astonished at how much she’s opening up to Hook, but at the same time, feels as though he’s the best person to have this conversation with. If one person understands getting over the loss of a loved one, it’s Hook.
 “You don’t want to talk to him because you’re worried that he’ll hurt you?”
 “I know he will, eventually.”
 “It must be difficult to have so little trust in the person you love,” he remarks thoughtfully, and it’s obvious that he doesn’t know just how wrong he is.
 “I don’t love him,” she proclaims seriously.
 “Oh,” he responds. He nods, folding his lips into his mouth and looking about as awkward as she thinks she’ll ever see him.
 “I don’t…” she starts, but isn’t sure if she should continue. She isn’t sure when she let her guard down in front of him. Just moments ago she was shouting at him for acting stupid and now all of a sudden she’s spilling her heart for him? “I don’t know if I ever did.”
 He nods again and looks to the ground, his feet shuffling uncomfortably as he says, “I see. So your confession, then…?”
 She shrugs. “I don’t know, I guess I must have loved him in my own way, back before everything happened between us, but… if not for Henry…”
 “So what’s brought this on then, love?”
 His question shouldn’t feel so profound. She should know why she feels the way she does; why anxiety is ripping through her at the thought of being with the man she once trusted. But somehow, she has an answer. “He scares me. I know what he’s capable of, and I know… I know what he’s done in the past. He could do it again.”
 “What did he do?” he asks, barely above a whisper.
 “He left us.” Maybe it’s the fact that he’s the only person here who doesn’t assume she’s going to get back with Neal. Maybe it’s the fact that he’s the only person here who has known Neal before. There has to be a logical explanation to the fact that she’s opening up to him more now than she has with anyone else. “Me and Henry,” she continues. “He set me up for his crimes and I had his baby in prison because he abandoned me. What’s to say he won't abandon us again, here?”
 He’s looking up at her instantly, the intensity in his gaze nearly suffocating. His brows are pinched together in great concern, and his mouth hangs open just slightly, as if he’s shocked speechless. Before she knows what he’s doing, he’s stepping towards her and taking her hand in his.
 “You will not be left on this island,” he says with ferocity. “I will never let that happen. You will have Henry safe in your arms if I have to lose my other hand to make it so.”
 She chokes over his words, her throat drying and her forehead hurting with how hard she’s pinching her brows together. She can’t help but to squeeze his hand back, suddenly taking great comfort in his warm presence. Appreciating the way his fingers squeeze hers, grounding her. “You really mean that, don’t you?”
 “Of course I mean it. We’re getting Henry off this island the moment we’re able.”
 The island is so hot and humid, but the warmth he’s bringing her with just her hand in his is intoxicating, and she can’t help but to lean closer to him for more. The closer she gets, the easier it is to let out the breath she’s been holding. When she lets her head drop to his bare chest, her forehead tickled by the coarse hair, he releases her hand from between their bodies and wraps his arm around her shoulder.
 “It’s alright,” he whispers, relaxing into her as she does the same, his face pressing to her hair. “We’re going to get off this island. I‘ll keep you and Henry safe, I promise you.” She nods into his chest again, pulling herself into his hold. Their breathing steadies, matching in pace, and his hand slinks up and down her spine soothingly.
 “I know,” she whispers against him, hugging around his waist tighter, although she isn’t sure why.
 No, she does know. What’s shifted in the short time since they’ve been here she isn’t sure— perhaps it’s his stifling honesty or the intense set of his jaw when he tells her how he feels. She knows that she trusts him. She can’t let him go.
 “Emma, what the hell?!” she hears from behind him, and she startles but doesn’t release her iron grip around Hook’s waist. Her breathing quickens once more, and she’s panting now as he squeezes her tight before releasing his own grip on her.
 “I—” she starts, but he cuts her off.
 “We’re in the middle of the damn jungle and I step away for five minutes, and here you are with him? What the fuck is wrong with you? The whole reason for us being here is to get our son back and you’re fucking shacking up with the pirate? Are you deranged?”
 She sees something flick in Hooks eyes and he turns suddenly. “Don’t speak to her that way,” he hisses, his voice low and menacing in his chest.
 “I don’t need your input on this, pirate! You certainly don’t need to speak for Emma, I’m sure she’s capable of defending herself.”
 “Defending herself?” he booms, taking a step away from her and towards Neal. “She needs not to defend herself for anything she’s done. Can you say the same, Baelfire?”
 She raises her brows in surprise at his words but says nothing, choosing to let Neal respond on his own.
 He lets out an awkward chuckle and shakes his head. “You’re ridiculous,” he says, as if there was nothing else he could think to utter.
 “Right,” Hook scoffs. “Let’s carry on, then. We’re but moments from Tink’s and I’d like to get off this bloody island.”
 ~~~~
 She’s crying.
 No one else is awake, no one else can hear, but she’s crying. She’s sitting all alone on her mat and she’s crying.
 Whatever it was that Neal did to her all those years ago— the abandonment, the betrayal— the impact that it’s having on her now is clear. She spoke of her fear of being abandoned again. Of being left on this island by someone she once trusted. She’s been failed by every person here, and the dread of being failed again is valid.
 He just wishes she wasn’t crying. It pains him to hear her struggling so hard to hide her soft whimpers and involuntary sniffles. She agreed to keep first watch so the others could rest, but Killian finds sleep impossible to come by because of the poignant sounds coming from his right.
 He’s certain she can’t be watching for much, her soft sobbing likely distracting from any potential threats, so he finally moves to stand, startling her and causing her to sit up straight and wipe at her cheeks. “It’s alright, love. Only me, I’ll take over watch,” he murmurs softly, making his way towards her and noting easily the way her shoulders drop again as she lets her guard down, somehow.
 “Sorry,” she mumbles, as if thinking she woke him.
 “There’s no need to be.”
 They sit in silence for a bit, appreciating the roaring fire before them, and he pokes open another coconut for her to drink down quietly. He notes that she’s stopped crying, but that doesn’t rid her of the wrought emotion displayed on her face and the occasional deep gulps of breath she seems to take involuntarily.
 “We’ve a good plan,” he tries to assure her after a beat of silence. “It’s going to be alright. We’re going to beat him.”
 “I know,” she nods, biting her lip. “There’s just something about this island that makes me feel so…”
 She sighs, unable to go on, so he supplies, “uneasy? Unwanted? Unloved?”
 “Exactly,” she breathes out.
 “I know the feeling, darling, but I assure you, it’s far from the truth in your case.”
 “Just,” she continues brazenly, ignoring his sentiment. “Like earlier, for example. Mary Margaret talked to me about Neal, I guess she overheard us before.” He bristles at the thought of her mother overhearing their conversation, but lets her continue on. “And the whole time she was trying to make sense of what happened, but I couldn’t shake the feeling like she was, I don’t know, judging me. For not wanting to be with him. Like she couldn’t believe I wouldn’t want to be with my first love even though he ruined my life.”
 Truthfully, he almost doesn’t doubt that that’s exactly what the young royal thought. If there’s one thing he’s learned about this crowd, it’s that true love is very important to them. The idea of her wanting Emma to be with Bae simply because they have a history together doesn’t seem too far from logical.
 “So are you saying she doesn’t feel that way?”
 With a shrug, she answers, “I don’t know. But I feel like I took the worst possible message of what she was trying to say, you know?”
 “Aye,” he agrees, though he thinks he may not actually know.
 “But I never… I never have that feeling with you.” His breath hitches. Rather than responding, he turns to his right to face her and hopes that she elaborates. “I just feel like I can always take you at face value, I guess.”
 He can’t help the smile that breaks across his face. He doesn’t try to stop it. Lifting his arm slightly in invitation, he rests it along the log they lean against and she tips towards him instantly. “I’m glad,” he murmurs once she settles.
 “We’re lucky to have you.”
 “And you.”
 After a beat not quite long enough, she presses away from him and takes the heat with her and he tries to hide his pout. But he doesn’t need to pout for long before she leans towards him and captures his lips between her own in a soft, slow kiss. It’s less heated than the last, but no less passionate. It stirs no less in him than the last had. With her hand meeting his cheek and his sliding up her back and into her hair, he can say with certainty that this is the only part of Neverland he’ll ever enjoy.
 She doesn’t pull away from him for some time, continuing to massage his lips with hers and eventually slipping her tongue to glide across his bottom lip until he grants her invitation. They tangle together but it’s no less gentle or tender as they sit beside one another and kiss away each other’s fears.
 “Thank you,” she whispers against his mouth once she breaks away just slightly.
 He isn’t sure if she thanks him for taking over the watch, or for the kiss, or for being here in general, but he knows it doesn’t matter. She need not thank him for any of it. Because when Emma Swan gives him a gentle smile and curls into a tight ball beside him, her head on his lap and her soft snores soothing him above the sounds of the eerie jungle, he knows he would do any of it and more for her, time and time again.
Dizzy on the Come Down
Summary: Snippets of phone conversations between Spencer and his girlfriend while he’s away working on cases. Based on the song ‘Dizzy on the Comedown’ by Turnover.
Word Count: 2.7k
Pairing: Spencer Reid x Fem!Reader
Warnings: all fluff except for some brief phone sex / masturbation
A/N: This is mostly dialogue seeing as though its just phone conversations ha. Also, I’ve repurposed this a couple of times but each time I feel like it comes out a little better. Sooooo if you’ve seen this before… no you haven’t.
——
Up and down like a red rubber ball
You’re always back and forth like the clock on the wall
I want to know about you
I’m spinning all around you
“Ya know,” Spencer thought aloud as he lounged back against the stiff mattress, “I’m really glad we ended up getting together. Your cat-and-mouse shit was getting really annoying.”
“Cat-and-mouse shit? Spencer Reid,” she paused to snort out a laugh, “I was smitten from the start and you know it! Besides, it took me weeks just to convince you to come into my apartment.”
A dark blush worked its way onto his cheeks even though he was alone in the dingy, motel room. “I was too,” he grinned. “I’m completely enamored, bubs. And I have been from the moment I saw you dancing around in that crap hole of a record store. And by the way, that’s called being a gentleman.”
“Okay first of all, its not a crap hole anymore since the new owner cleaned it up,” she defended, immensely proud of all her hard work she put into her store. “And second, its called you being too chicken to ask me out.” She laughed, knowing damn well that he had made her just as nervous and giddy as she made him. She smiled broadly and snuggled a little further into the leather arm chair, her legs dangling over one of the arms.
“Yeah, that’s it,” he chuckled.
If I stay do you think that we could change your routine?
I know a trick, I’ve always got a few up my sleeve
This life is controlled confusion
It’s just a grand illusion
“Today I was at this mall right? We were trying to find anyone who could have been a witness,” he paused, choking out a laugh, “Well, I saw this magician guy and he was doing card tricks. Derek and I went over to him but when we got closer I realized his form was all wrong-”
She wasn’t able to help the giggle that bubbled out of her, he simply could not resist the opportunity to show off his ‘sweet skills’ as he so loved to put it. “Let me guess: you showed him how to do the trick properly?”
He scoffed, “Of course I did. With technique like that he was giving magicians everywhere a bad name.”
“Oh I’m sure,” she teased, screwing the cap on the bottle of red nail polish she’d been using to paint her toes. “Did you finally teach Derek how to do one while you were at it?”
“Absolutely not! I can’t just reveille my secrets to a member of the general public, Y/N. The only reason the old guy got any help is because he was at least trying to teach himself.” She could practically see the look on his face right then, the overly dignified set to his jaw, his raised brows.
“M’kay doc. Whatever you say,” she hummed into the receiver, fanning her freshly painted toenails.
And you ask me “How do you feel when you’re away?”
And you ask me “How do you pass the days?”
“How are you feeling?” she whispered into the dark of their bedroom, her phone tucked between her shoulder and cheek.
He sighed, a long drawn out breath that could’ve easily been mistaken for a gust of wind. “It’s been pretty shitty; hectic and tiring ya know? Local P.D. doesn’t want to cooperate, the families are clearly not telling us something… But we caught a break today so we’re really hopeful things will start to turn around now. But right now?” Spencer paused, squeezing his eyes shut and sighing again, “Right now I just really fucking miss you.”
“I miss you too,” she whispered, clutching his pillow tightly to her chest. “Please just be safe, Spence.”
His chest tightened at her words, he knew worried she always was for him. “I will be baby.”
Sing along to a song that I know
It goes bah bah bada, sing it over and over
Let it hypnotize you
I’m still here right beside you
“I cannot get that stupid song out of my head,” he groaned as the simple chorus of the over played pop song drifted through his mind again and again and again.
She laughed, a melodic tune he’d missed so much in the past few days. It sounded slightly warped though the phone but it was her none the less. “Which one, doc?”
Scrubbing his hands over his face he sighed as he mindlessly flipped through a boating magazine he found tucked into the nightstand drawer. “I don’t even know the name of it. The chorus goes something like ‘bah bah bada’,” he hummed, his fingers subconsciously tapping out the rhythm on his thigh.
“I think I could list off ten songs with a beat similar to that one,” she countered, her laugh still light and lilting.
Spencer rolled his eyes but he couldn’t help the small smile that was tugging at the corner of his lips. “Oh c’mon bubs, you know it! It’s the one you really like! You’re always singing it,” he mused, reminiscing on all the times he’d caught her humming it under her breath.
Her eyebrows puled together as she concentrated, trying to recall the song he was speaking of. “Spence, there is honestly no telling. You know its like a 24 hour radio in my head!”
Hold my hand, you can follow my lead
You’re like a ballerina twirling round on your feet
And watching is so fantastic
I want to ask you
Spencer hadn’t laughed in what felt like days, not a real belly aching laugh anyway. But she had him stitches, nearly doubled over at the lame jokes and stories she was telling him in attempts to lift his spirits, she knew how tough this case was. Finally after a moment she caught her breath. “Do you remember that time we were dancing around in the kitchen? It had to have been like midnight or something and you just started to twirl me around. And we ended up slipping because we both had socks on and I broke my arm?”
“God, how could I forget that?” he groaned, softly laughing at the memory of the two of you tangled in a mess on the kitchen tiles. He had truly been scared to shitless regardless of her assurance that it wasn’t his fault. When he saw her trembling lip and the tears she had tried to hold at bay, it damn near broke his heart. “I was terrified I had hurt you really bad- worse than a broken arm! Then when I finally got you home from the hospital you were so high on the pain killers you could barely walk straight. I all but had to carry you to bed.”
“And you apologize for weeks and you probably still don’t believe that it wasn’t your fault.” She started laughing again as she said it and he could practically feel the love radiating from her, even from so far away.
“I really fucking love you.” Spencer smiled so wide it actually hurt his cheeks a little but it was an ache he’d always welcome.
Would you come here and spin with me?
I’ve been dying to get you dizzy,
Find a way up into your head
So I can make you feel like new again
“I really fucking need you right now. I’ve been hard for days.” Well, she thought, what a way to answer the phone.
Mindful of her surroundings, she bit down on her lip to suppress her laugh and quietly suggested that he go take care of that.
Scoffing, he rolled his eyes as if she could see him through the phone. “My hand has nothing on your mouth or your pussy.”
“Spencer!” she squealed and quickly reached up to turn down the volume on her cellphone when the lady next her gasped at what she had no doubt heard him say.
Mumbling a quick ‘sorry’ to the other patrons, Y/N made a mad dash for the door of the crowded coffee shop. She looked over her shoulder to see the woman staring after her slack jawed. Cringing, she turned away from the storefront window, her cheeks and neck heating up as she started speed walking down the sidewalk.
“Well, it’s fucking true! I’m dying to touch you again. To make you cum,” he said, his voice growing husky.
“Are you trying to have phone sex with me, doc? While I’m walking down the damn street? The people in the coffee shop probably thought I was some ten cent floozy!” The thinly veiled attempt at annoyance did nothing to hide the amusement in her voice. Spencer hummed, his hand sliding down over his stomach and toying with the drawstring of his faded (he refused to refer to them as ‘ratty’ as Y/N did) flannel pajama pants. “No way. Fifteen cents minimum.”
With a roll of her eyes she did laugh that time. “Can we put this conversation on hold until I get home? I’m literally only a block away from the apartment.”
Now collapse, take delight in the fall and catch your breath
I know you feel the ring from it
So try and collect yourself now
It’s just a euphoric comedown
“Come on baby,” he practically growled as he continued to roughly tug on his throbbing cock. “Cum hard for me. Make the neighbors think I’m actually there.”
She gasped at his encouragement and sped up the fingers she had rubbing small, tight circles on her clit, she had nearly forgotten just how filthy his mouth could be. “Oh god,” she moaned, tossing her head back into the pillows and arching her back off the mattress, the phone nearly slipping from where she had it trapped between her shoulder and ear. Adding just the slightest bit of pressure as she continued to swirl her fingers, she came, choking on a hoarse call of his name. Letting the pure euphoria take over, her toes curled and legs trembled as the pleasure washed over her in waves. It wasn’t as intense as the orgasms he gave her but it would have to do until he got home.
At the sound of her cumming and calling out his name, Spencer met his own high. He grunted and easily milked himself through his own orgasm. The line went quiet for a moment and he thought she might have fallen asleep. “You still there sweet girl?” He was panting, still trying to catch his breath as he grabbed a few tissues and cleaned himself up.
“Yeah,” she sighed softly and Spencer was kicking himself for not thinking of switching to FaceTime so he could see the look on her face. “Just a little blissed out.”
And you ask me “How do you feel when you’re away?”
And you ask me “How do you pass the days?”
“How are you feeling?” she cooed. “You’re on bed rest right? You need to be if you aren’t. You have got to start getting some rest. That’s probably a big part in why you’re so sick. That and you don’t take vitamins or drink juices.”
Spencer rolled his eyes and tried to snap a snarky reply but all that came out was a bone-rattling cough. Groaning, he rolled onto his side and placing the phone on the pillow beside him and switched it to ‘speaker’ so he wouldn’t have to use the energy to hold the phone up. “I feel like hot garbage. Wish you were here,” he mumbled before another fit of coughs racked through his achy body.
She pouted and sat completely helpless in their bedroom, wishing more than anything that she could be there with him, nursing him back to health. “I’m sorry baby. I love you,” she offered quietly, hoping her words would comfort him in some way.
“Love you too,” he rasped and she felt her heart sink a little further in her chest.
Cause I can still remember when you were afraid of the dark
And I told you to come and you followed where I asked you to go
“You know I’d follow you anywhere, right?” he whispered, pulling the scratchy sheet tighter around him. “To hell and back if I had to. All you have to do is ask and I’m there.”
Sighing, she squeezed her eyes shut and willed the tears away. “I know you would.”
They were both quiet for a while, letting the silence fall over them like a thick, comforting blanket. His eyes darted around his hotel room and he desperately wished he was back in his apartment with her. Holding her. Comforting her. “Its just scary ya know?” she finally spoke up. “I mean I have total faith in your ability to take care of yourself, don’t get me wrong. But being so far away from you… its terrifying and not to mention so fucking lonely sometimes. Every time the phone rings I’m terrified its going to be Derek or J.J. telling me you’ve been hurt. I know how much you love your job and I’d never ask you to choose, but it is scary.”
His heart dropped to the pit of his stomach, he swore it actually felt like it had cracked in half. “I know, baby. I know,” he sighed, raking a hand through his hair, tugging at the ends a little. “It wont be much longer now. I promise.” He paused again, eyes darting around the room in hopes of finding something to say to help ease her worries. Finally his eyes landed on the book peeking from his opened satchel at the foot of the bed. “Would you like me to read to you?”
His offer was sweet and genuine and instantly brought a smile to her face. “Yeah, that would be nice.”
Would you come here and spin with me?
I’ve been dying to get you dizzy,
Find a way up into your head
So I can make you feel like new again
“Bubs,” Spencer cooed, his tone quiet and soothing. “Just come out to Las Vegas. Let me fly you out. We’re wrapping up the case now and my mom was asking about you when I called yesterday. She’d be thrilled to see you.”
Sniffling, she wiped at her nose. She was quiet for a few minutes, her attention focused on picking at a stray string on the fluffy white duvet covering their bed. “Can I? Come out there, I mean. I need you. I wont be in the way, I promise.”
Spencer was speaking quietly, trying not to draw too much attention to himself in the bustling precinct but he was practically buzzing with excitement at the thought of her accepting his offer. As discretely as he could, he sat down at the nearest unoccupied computer and pulled up a few airline websites to compare prices. “Of course you can baby. And there’s no way that you’d get in the way. I’ll book you a flight now. How long do you want to stay?”
“How long can I stay?” Her voice quiet like his own, raw from crying to him for the past fifteen minutes about how horrible her day had gone.
With the phone tucked between his ear and shoulder, he quickly browsed through the webpages, comparing the airlines and what each had to offer. “We can stay as long as you want,” he assured her, his tone making it evident just how serious he was about his offer.
“You were planning on a whole week, right?” she asked hesitantly, almost like she was afraid he would tell her that he had changed his mind.
He confirmed that a week was in fact the original plan but then offered to tack on a few extra days, he had the extra vacation time saved up so why not use them up. They both desperately needed the break. When she agreed he gave a comical ‘whoop!’ into the phone earning him several confused looks from not only his team mates but the local detectives that were still in the room. “This is going to be great. I can show you all my favorite places from when I was a kid! All you need is a little quality Spencer time and we’ll have you feeling like new in no time.”
“I think that’s exactly what I need.”
Tumblr media
PAIRING; Dark!Professor!Bucky Barnes x black!reader, Dark!Peter Parker x black!reader
WORD COUNT; 7,973
WARNINGS; Age difference, teacher/student dynamics, spanking, smut, sex, loss of virginity, vaginal fingering, mention of blood, slight praise kink, slight crying kink?, overstimulation
SUMMARY; A friend comes to your defense and Bucky finally gives in.
NOTE; Gif credit goes to @/fluturojdallandyshia! I wanna say/reiterate that Cher, reader, and Peter are in their senior/last year of school AND they are all 18 years old. I had a “late” birthday (May), so I turned 18 three weeks before I graduated. My brother had an early birthday (September), so he turned 18 like two weeks into his senior year. Peter, Cher, and reader all have early (August/September) birthdays. Any crap about aging Peter up will be deleted and blocked. You’ve been warned multiple times - if you continue to read after this point, it’s on you.
I also gave reader a last name. Sue me. Hope this lives up to the hype... I’m probably gonna hide for the rest of the night and not look at tumblr for the rest of the night... posting anxiety sucks.
Any mistakes are mine, I was rushing towards the end, lol.
☞ PART FIVE | ☞ SERIES MASTERLIST
Tumblr media
You toss your freshly braided hair over your shoulder as you move through the halls towards Bucky’s classroom. You’re actually pretty excited. Sure, you were fuming for most of the day yesterday but after a joint and an appointment with your vibrating boyfriend, your mind cleared. Your mother's words came floating back to you, and you knew what you had to do. Kill ‘em with kindness. After all, healthy competition goes both ways.
You turn into his room, finding it empty, but the light on. No bother, you just move up the rows and plop down in your seat, pulling out your laptop. You don’t even look up when Cher walks in - late, of course - and sign loudly when she acknowledges you.
“Didn’t realize sucking up started this early.”
“And yet here you are,” you smile quickly, “Late, but here, nevertheless.”
She rolls her eyes, mumbling something about you being a bitch before she sits in her seat. Bucky arrives some minutes later, a cup of coffee in his hand, his glasses low on his nose, “Morning ladies. My apologies, I'm dragging ass today, had to get some coffee.”
You don’t answer. You don’t even look up from your screen as you tap away, finishing up your English paper. You hear the two of them making conversation, flicking your eyes up as Cher moves to the desk, leaning over it to no doubt show off the boob job her father paid for over the summer. Her irritating laughter rings out, but you pay it absolutely no mind until you feel a set of eyes on you within minutes.
“You’re awfully quiet this morning.” Bucky says, tilting his head as you finally glance up at him from over your screen.
“Good morning Bucky.”
You watch as his jaw twitches slightly and his eyes squint at the sound of his first name. You shift in your seat, dropping your eyes back to your google doc, having to literally stop yourself from grinning. You’ve got him already.
“Bucky?” He questions, pushing his glasses up the bridge of his nose.
You click your teeth and scrunch your face as you pretend to be confused, “You did say at the beginning of the year to call you Bucky, yes? Has something changed?”
He scoffs lightly, a confused smirk playing on his lips as he rubs his chin, “I did, yes.” He agrees, shaking his head, “I thought you said you preferred Mr. Barnes.”
You shrug, “Well, I guess I don’t anymore.” You cut your eyes to Cher, who squints back at you, her lip slightly snarled, “If you want to be called Bucky, then I’ll call you Bucky.” You lift your eyes back to his, crossing your legs, “Just like everyone else.”
You drop your eyes back to your Macbook and fill the silence by tapping away at your keyboard again. You feel his eyes on you for a few seconds more before Cher draws his attention with some bullshit question. You stay true to course, never lifting your eyes back to him as he throws random looks at you, trying to get your attention as the class starts to fill up.
You close your laptop but never really give him your full attention as you usually do as he begins his lecture. You glance out the window, or keep your eyes cast down on your pristine white shoes You gaze at your nails, making a mental note to schedule an appointment. You keep your legs crossed. You don’t engage, you don’t answer any questions, you don’t offer any insight. You just sit there -  like everyone else.
His eyes are on you the entire hour. He poses questions, but ignores the raised hands for a few moments, waiting for yours to pop up into the air. When it doesn’t, his eyes linger on you for a few beats before he finally calls on someone. His questions get short, his thoughts sort of jumbled as the time dwindles. You smile. This is going to be easier than you thought.
The bell rings and you fall in line with everyone else, heading towards the door. A hand catches your bicep and you sigh, but you keep your eyes straight ahead. Bucky nods and smiles at a few students before he turns his attention to you.
“You stopping by after class?” He asks gently, “I got something in my pants you might like.”
You smile back at him, cocking your head, “No, I can’t make it today.”
His lips part as his eyes bounce back and forth between yours, “Why not?”
“I have a riding lesson with Mr. Udaku.”
He laughs in disbelief as he runs his hand through his hair, “A riding lesson?” He repeats, “That early in the afternoon?”
“Yes.”
He clears his throat as irritation starts to bubble in his chest, “You gave me your schedule. Wednesday through Friday, six to eight, twice a day Saturday and Sunday.”
You shrug, “Not anymore.”
You take a step from him, but he stops you, grabbing your arm again. You turn towards him, your lips set in a hard line. He looks back at you, crossing his arms over his chest as you refuse to give in.
“Come on,” he says after the last student clears the room, “What is going on?”
“Nothing.” You shrug again as you answer sweetly, “What do you mean?”
“You’ve barely spoken to me today. This isn’t about yesterday, is it?” He probes, wrapping his arms around your waist, “I was just joking. You know you’re my favorite girl.”
You smile. It’s too late for that. You step out of his arms and head for the door as his eyes follow you, “You were absolutely right, Bucky,” you stress, “A little competition is healthy. For everyone.”
You turn and walk out before he can respond.
----------
You brush down Apollo, your most prized possession as he neighs gently. You shush him, patting him softly on his side before you kiss him on his snout. He shakes his head and you laugh, reaffirming his good boy status just as Cher walks into the stalls. You throw your eyes at her as she stops in her tracks before rebounding quickly and moving to her horse’s stall.
“And just what are you doing here?” She asks.
“Isn’t it obvious? I have a lesson.”
You hear her scoff, “I’m not stupid.”
“You sure about that?” You giggle, rolling your eyes, “I moved my lessons to mirror yours, just so I can crush you everyday of the week. Show you who’s boss.”
She tuts, batting her big eyes, “You just can’t stand it that Barnes doesn’t want you anymore.”
“Please,” you scoff, “Just the fact that he’s entertaining you, makes me reconsider his intelligence.”
You smile sweetly as you grab Apollo’s reins and start to walk him out of the barn. You lean into her and push some of her blonde hair off of her shoulder, “You fuck with me, I fuck with you. You should have stayed in your place, little girl.”
She slaps your hand away and you laugh before moving out into the field. You place your foot into the stir up and hoist yourself up onto Apollo, adjusting yourself on the saddle. You start a slow trot around the fenced in area, warming him up before you start working the obstacle course.
Your lesson goes exactly how you thought it would, compliment after compliment from Mr. Udaku, (or T’Challa, as many of his students call him) about your form, your technique, your skill - while Cher struggled to keep up. Pride swells in your chest as you gaze upon her flustered, red face as she rips off her helmet and runs her fingers through her hair.
“Cher, you still need to work on not bouncing as much when you canter, you're still gripping too hard with your legs. Here,” T’Challa says,  “Watch Ms. Prescott.”
He waves you forward and you start a canter with Apollo, your body moving naturally with his, “See how relaxed she is? You gotta let your legs stay soft. You have to remember to stay aligned with Cotton’s body or you’ll never be a smooth rider. Thank you Ms. Prescott.”
“Not a problem,” you coo sweetly, “I’m always here to help. You have my number Cher, you can text me anytime if you need any pointers.”
She narrows her eyes at you as she exhales hard, “Thank you.” She hisses as sarcasm drips from her words.
“I mean, now that I’ve switched my schedule, we’ll get to ride together more. I don’t mind showing you the ropes. I know you’ve only started riding a few years ago.” You smile widely, continuing to step on her throat.
“I think that’s a good idea actually,” T’Challa agrees, “There’s no shame in asking for help sometimes Cher. Ms. Prescott’s knowledge and skill set could really help elevate your riding. You know she and Apollo are three time Champions.”
“Going for four,” you smile proudly, “Cher was there, cheering me on for all three of my wins. What did you place last year?” You ask, knowing good and damn well she was disqualified from your skill class.
“Fuck you,” she mouths.
Your smile practically breaks your face in two. Kill ‘em with kindness. You pull Apollo away from T’Challa and Cher, starting another slow trot around the fence. You glance over your shoulder and spot Bucky walking through the grass. You squint slightly, pulling on the reins to slow Apollo to a stop. You’ve never seen him out here before. He must be checking up on you, seeing if you really had a lesson this afternoon. You smile again. Men.
You click your tongue quickly and pat Apollo on his hip, turning him back towards the two teachers. You ride just close enough to hear their conversation but not close enough to where they’d know you’re snooping. You jump Apollo over the hogsback in the center of the arena as their conversation wafts towards you.
“I didn’t know she rode this early in the day, especially on Tuesdays.” You hear Bucky say.
“She usually doesn’t, but she texted me last night wanting to change her schedule to free up her weekends. She wouldn’t tell me why. It’s not like she really needs to practice this hard.”
You glance over at the two of them at the fence and meet Bucky’s gaze. You blink back at him, never one to back down from a staring contest, and quirk your eyebrows up your forehead. He turns his attention back toT’Challa, before he sends his gaze towards Cher. You turn Apollo again, trotting him over to another jump.
You cut your eyes over your shoulder, watching Bucky shrug, “She’s been my TA for a few weeks. I just thought it was kinda sudden that she couldn’t stop by after class today.”
T’Challa slaps him on the shoulder, “I’m sorry man. Didn’t mean to steal your help away.”
“No, no,” you hear Bucky say before he links his eyes with yours again, “We’re just going to have to share her it seems.” He shakes T’Challa’s hand, “I’ll catch you later, huh?”
You watch as he moves back across the grass, running his hand through his hair as he bows his head. You let Apollo cool down for a few more minutes before you ride him back into the stalls. You brush him down again, before cleaning out his stall and laying down some fresh hay for him. You give him his dinner, feed him a few carrots as a treat for a job well done and rub noses before kissing him again.
“You’re the only man I can depend on. See you tomorrow baby.”
You remove your gloves as you move out from the back of the barn, jumping slightly and clutching your chest when you come face to face with one Bucky Barnes, “Bucky -”
“Stop calling me that.” He answers sternly, his hands in his pockets, “You switched your riding schedule? Really?”
You shrug definitely, “So I wanted more lessons during the week, shoot me.”
“T’Challa said you don’t even need them. You’re just fucking with me.”
You giggle, “And Cher,” you add, “This isn’t all about you.”
“Can we just knock it off please? I’m sorry, okay? I told you, I was just joking yesterday.” He says with a huff, running his hands through his hair again.
You cross your arms over your chest, a smirk on your face and a sing-song tune in your voice, “But I’m just getting started, Bucky.”
“This isn’t funny.”
“Oh,” you laugh, “It’s a little funny. Look at you all worked up.” You mock, bopping his nose with your index finger, “You’re cute when you’re mad.”
“Hey. Prescott.”
You snap your head back towards the new voice, taking a quick step away from Bucky. You smile as the young Peter Parker leans up against the fence, nodding his head at you, “Peter Parker. How are you?”
“You got a minute?”
Your smile widens, “Of course.”
Bucky grabs your arm again before you step away from him, “I’m not finished talking to you.”
You pull away from him, “Well, I’m finished talking to you.” You state, stepping away from him, “I’ve been involved in competition my whole life, Bucky. I don’t cave and I certainly don’t lose. You wanted a competition, now you got one.”
You turn on your heel and bounce towards the waiting Peter. He stands up straight, smiling at you again but keeps his eyes on Bucky as he walks off. Once you’re close enough, he nods towards him, “I didn’t mean to interrupt.”
You wave it off, “No interruption. I don’t see you out here much.”
“Nah, I came by to see you. I think we can help each other out.”
“God,” you roll your eyes playfully, “You read my mind. I smoked my last joint last night.”
“Not with that,” he laughs, “Well, I can help you with that too, but I have something else in mind.”
You raise your eyebrows, intrigued with him, “Oh?”
“Word’s getting around that you and Cher are battling over Barnes.” You shoot your eyes towards him, “You know she’s got a big mouth.”
“Fuck,” you mutter.
“Don’t worry. Everybody here has something on them, nobody is gonna snitch for fear of it coming back on them ten times over.” He says slowly, scrunching his face slightly as he faces the sun, “That’s what I thought I could help you with.”
You cross your arms as you glance around the deserted area, “How’s that?”
“You know Cher and I fucked around for a while late last semester, right before summer. Turns out, the fucking bitch burned me.”
“Ugh,” you grimace, “You’re kidding?”
“No. My parents intercepted the test results. That’s why my ass has been on lock down. Plus, I had to be on a fucking regimen of antibiotics to get rid of the shit. Killed my fucking game for the summer, man.”
You giggle a little, bumping your shoulder with his, “Sorry to hear it, but what exactly does that have to do with me, Parker?”
“It would kill her if we hooked up,” he says, wiggling his eyebrows, “Barnes too. He hates me.”
You inhale deeply as your lips curl into another devilish smile, “I didn’t know you had Barnes.”
“I have him in the afternoon. He busts my balls over every little fucking thing.” He rolls his eyes, “Cher is absolutely obsessed with you, it would drive her nuts. It’s the best revenge that I can get and I know you love making her feel second best.”
“It gives me great joy, actually.” You watch as Peter laughs, “Alright Parker, you got yourself a deal, but we need to draw some lines.”
“Okay,” he nods, shoving his hands in his pockets, “Lay ‘em out.”
“I don’t,” you start, clearing your throat, “I haven’t fucked-fucked yet and I'd like to keep it that way.”
“Saving it for Barnes?” He teases.
“Fuck you,” you giggle, “Make outs, blow jobs, heavy petting… whatever, I’m down with all of that, just no fucking. Deal?”
He holds out his hand and you take it, shaking it to make it official, “A woman confident in her sexuality. I love it.” He pecks you on the cheek before he starts to walk off, “It’ll be a pleasure doing business with you.” He calls.
“Same to you, Parker.” You smile, “Same to you.”
----------
You and Peter keep your newfound “romance” on the low for the next few days, as not to arouse any sudden suspicions. You continue to show up to Bucky’s class a half hour early (always making it in before Cher) and completely ignore him. You catch up on homework, you read, you paint your nails. Your nonchalant attitude towards him has continued to get under his skin, as his frustration and irritation has bled over into his lectures. Everyone picks up on his attitude, even Cher, now also receiving a cold shoulder from him in the mornings and afternoons.
You and Peter decide to start your attack bright and early Monday morning. You meet up in the parking lot, hanging out next to his car, laughing and joking with a few of his baseball teammates. You walk in around seven fifty, twenty minutes after Bucky has been expecting you, hand in hand. Peter throws his arm over your shoulders, pulling you into his body as the two of you make your way through the halls.
You pass by the open door of Bucky’s room and Peter stops purposefully in front of it as he calls for one of his friends down the hall. You glance into the room, but quickly cut your eyes away as you find Bucky and Cher gaping out at the two of you - Cher practically flipping over her desk she’s leaning so far forward. You and Peter push forward out of sight and you lean against the lockers, pulling him into you.
You kiss him hard, making him moan in surprise at first but he quickly follows suit. You smack your lips on his a few times before he pulls away, resting his forehead to yours as he drags his finger down your now swollen lips. The two of you whisper back and forth, smiling and giggling all the while before he leans into you again, capturing your lips.
A throat clears loudly from beside the two of you, but you both ignore it, continuing to giggle and kiss as if you don’t hear a thing.
“Guys,” you hear Bucky sigh, “Break it up.”
“Oh, Mr. Barnes,” Peter laughs, wrapping his fingers around your neck softly - possessively, “Shit, man. Sorry about that. Didn’t even hear you, did you babe?”
You shake your head, “Nope. Sorry Bucky.” You peck Peter on his lips again before reaching up to wipe away the excess lip gloss you left behind, “You’ll walk me to my next class, yes?”
He winks at you before dipping back into you to kiss you once, twice, three more times, causing Bucky to speak up again.
“Guys, I mean it. You aren’t on a beach somewhere and you need to watch your mouth, Parker.” He sighs loudly, “Ms. Prescott, your seat please.”
You roll your eyes and push away from the lockers, you and Peter linking hands and extending your arms as you both walk in different directions.
“I’ll be right here after class babe.” He says, winking again.
“Ms. Prescott.” Bucky barks before pushing a hot breath out of his nose.
When your hands actually come undone, you wiggle your fingers at him before tossing your braids over your shoulder and push past the verklempt Bucky. You step past Cher, and she grabs your wrist, pulling you down into her.
“So you want my sloppy seconds all of a sudden?”
“Sloppy seconds?” You repeat, laughing lightly as you tilt your head, “Sweetie, it’s the restaurant metaphor all over again. Peter moved on from a bug infested pizza parlor to a clean five star restaurant. You’re still the sloppy one here.” You wink.
You revel in Bucky’s anger for the entire hour. He continuously cuts his eyes towards you, now dark and brooding, but you smirk back and drop your eyes to your book, not giving him the satisfaction. Your legs stay crossed and your panties stay dry - much to his chagrin. Peter is right there by the door as soon as the bell rings. The two of you intertwine your fingers and swing them back and forth as you walk down the hall, two pairs of eyes on you all the while.
“Mr. Barnes, I-”
“Not now, Cher.” Bucky bites back, running his hand through his hair again quickly before he damn near shoves her out of the classroom, slamming the door.
----------
You pull your next stunt in the library a few days later. It’s a study period, so there’s a few more teachers and students loitering around than usual - Bucky just happens to be one of the loiterers. Peter pulls you through the bookshelves by the tips of your fingers, finding the perfect position for the two of you to be aligned within Bucky’s eyesight.
He’s perched at a table, his glasses low on his nose as he scribbles into his notebook before returning his gaze to the thick book just off to this left. Peter pushes you up against one of the bookshelves, jarring a few of the books loose from their spots and sending them crashing to the floor. You laugh, and Peter covers your mouth with his hand as he leans in and kisses your neck. His other hand snakes up between your thighs and pushes into your skirt, his fingertips brushing along your sex.
You push your chest into his and sink your teeth into your bottom lip as your hooded eyes flick towards Bucky. His jaw is tensed as he stares back at you. His lips are set in a hard, thin line, his face flushed red as his chest rises and falls harder than before. He falls back into his chair and crosses his arms over his chest, almost daring you to keep going - to keep pushing him.
You dig one of your hands into Peter’s hair, pulling softly and hissing when his teeth sink into the fleshy crook of your neck. You push your hips into his fingers as he teases your clit with light, soft strokes. He licks a slow path up your neck and chin before he kisses you deeply and pulls you suddenly out of Bucky’s sight.
“This is fun,” he laughs against your mouth, kissing you again as he squeezes your hip.
You giggle in return, tilting your head up towards the ceiling, silently asking him to continue. He obliges, and starts sucking on your skin again, pushing his hand back between your thighs. He slips his fingers underneath your panties and moans when the slickness of your sex coats his fingers. You let out a small moan as your hips move with his fingers. You grab his free hand and push it to your left breast, helping him to grab a handful of you.
You gasp suddenly when Peter’s fingers push inside of you. You laugh again but spread your legs instinctively, raising one slightly to rub his calf. You feel him laugh against you as his fingers pump softly, his palm rubbing against your clit.
“Fuck, Peter,” you say softly, pushing your body into his again as he finger fucks you up against the wall of books.
You roll your head and jump when those familiar blue eyes are on you again, this time just on the other side of the bookshelf in front of you. Your mouth falls open as you stare back at him over the tops of the books. He slides a book off of the shelf, removing his eyes from yours to flip through the pages before he slides his angry eyes back to yours. He runs his eyes along Peter’s body, then halts at his hand as it pumps into you.
You snarl your lip as a pang of excitement flashes through you. You’ve never been watched like this before - it’s kinda fun. You keep your eyes on Bucky’s as Peter’s hand quickens inside of you, his palm beating against your clit. You bite down into your bottom lip as you rest your chin on his shoulder, your head falling forward as your orgasm starts to build.
“Shit,” you whine, your breath growing ragged as your hips pulse with the pace of his fingers.
You lift your leg a little higher as the lust in your stomach starts to flood through your veins. You wrap your arms around his neck and ball his t-shirt into your hands, struggling to keep your eyes open as Bucky peers on. You watch as he runs his tongue over his teeth, blinking at you slowly, anger brimming just below his surface. He doesn’t shy away though, he doesn’t walk off, he doesn’t lash out, he just flips aimlessly through the random book he picked up as he watches as you come all over Peter’s fingers.
You slam your eyes shut at your orgasm rips through you. Peter moans as he slams his fingers into your wet, tight muscles. His free hand creeps back up to your face and covers your mouth, stifling the squeaks and squeals that dribble from your lips. Peter crushes you to the bookshelf with his weight, chuckling as he nips at your chin and neck. You keep your bottom lip between your teeth as you smirk at Bucky. You wanted a competition, now you got one.
Peter pulls out his phone and lifts it into the air, hitting record as you still lean up against the bookshelf, still panting and giggly as your body floats on cloud nine. He smiles slowly into the camera, before leaning in and kissing you deeply, his tongue skimming along the roof of your mouth before it slides along yours. He situates your panties and skirt, like the gentleman he is, before he tugs at your wrist to pull you out from between the aisles.
When he clears the bookshelves, he stops suddenly when he locks eyes with Bucky just on the other side. He nods his head towards him, before shoving his wet fingers into his mouth. He licks them clean before he pulls them out with a soft pop and  glances back into his camera, throwing a wink it’s way. The two of you waltz out of the library, smiles on both of your faces. You hear Peter’s phone as it starts to sound, ding after ding after ding as a quick flurry of text messages slide through.
He pulls it out and snorts before he tilts it towards you, Cher’s name flashing across it as a call comes through.
“This is going tremendously.” He smiles, declining the call and sliding the sleek phone back into his pocket.
----------
You glance down at your watch as you whistle slowly; 8:06am. You’re now officially late to Bucky’s class, and officially late for the first time in over four years. You turn down his hallway, scrolling through your tumblr as you come to his closed door. You push through and feel the eyes of the entire class on you as you waltz in without a care in the world. Bucky’s lecture comes to a halt as he slides his eyes with you as you pick your way through the seats to find yours.
You sit, taking your time as you pull out your notebook and pen while everyone watches, just as surprised as Bucky that you’re late. You take a deep breath and expel it calmly as you finally glance up at him.
“Good morning.” You say cheerfully.
He crosses his arms over his chest and licks his lips slowly, “You’re late.”
“Oh,” you sigh a little, glancing at your watch, “Sorry about that.”
“We had a deal at the beginning of the semester.” He says, his voice deep.
You cross your legs and swing your foot lightly, “Did we?”
He narrows his eyes at you as he pulls his glasses off of his face, “Should I remind you?”
“Please.” You nod, “It’s slipped my mind.”
He nods slowly, starting to pace, “You wanted me to hold you personally responsible if you were ever late.”
You squint your eyes as you tilt your chin towards the ceiling, pretending to rack your brain, “That’s right, I did. That little check mark next to my name on the attendance sheet is gonna hurt.”
“Oh no,” He chuckles as you challenge him so openly, “You wanted to be held responsible. A little check mark isn’t going to do that.”
You smirk, “So what’ll it be, Bucky?”
“Detention.”
Your face drops. Detention? Detention? For one fucking tardy?! “Detention?” you repeat, sitting up a little straighter in your seat, “That’s a little harsh, don’t you think?”
He turns back to face you, leaning back on his desk as he kicks his legs out in front of him. He shrugs, shaking his head, “You asked for it.”
“You’re joking,” you laugh, your mind starting to race, “A detention for being late one time? Have you handed out a detention to anyone else?”
He shrugs, “Nope. But you’re not everyone else, are you?”
You squint your eyes at him as he smirks back. This is the only way he could get back at you - to tarnish your perfect record. Your body flushes with heat - you honestly didn’t expect this. This… this is below the belt. You’d figured that he’s been so out of sorts that he’d just slap you on the wrist and beg to see him after class. You’d trade barbs back and forth, he’d eat your pussy and the two of you would be right back on track, like this never happened. But this?
“I’m getting you ready for real life. That’s what you wanted me to do, isn’t it?”
A chorus of oooh’s ring out from the rest of the class as you throw your braids over your shoulder angrily, “I have a riding lesson at three twenty five today.”
“I’ll talk to T’Challa if you’d like me to.”
You laugh sarcastically, “This is ridiculous. This’ll go on my record, you realize that?”
He shrugs again as he pushes away from his desk, “Maybe you should have thought about that. Now,” he smiles, turning his attention back to the rest of the class,  “Where were we?”
He completely turns the tables on you after that. He ignores you for the rest of his lecture. His mood lightens considerably. He cracks jokes, he banters with other classmates as you stew in your anger. When class is over, he holds out your detention slip between his fingers, which you snatch and crumple up in your hand as you pass by without so much as a glance in his direction.
Asshole.
The final bell of the day rings hours later and you start the trek towards Dr. Banner’s room, the resident detention monitor. He’s surprised to see you and gives you a reassuring smile as you head to the back of the room, plopping down in one of the desks. You catch Mitchell Bryant, the fifth year senior and fuck up extraordinaire, smirking at you and roll your eyes deeply before shifting in your seat to block him from your line of vision.
You busy yourself with your trigonometry homework, actually getting into it within a few minutes. The door opens and you flip your eyes towards it, doing a double take when you spot Bucky walking in. He smiles at Dr. Banner, leaning into his desk and muttering something before he heads back to the door.
“Ms. Prescott?” He calls,  “Grab your stuff and come with me please.”
You cock your head as your eyes instantly narrow at him. You take a deep breath, but stand and collect your things. You walk out into the hallway, finding him waiting for you, “Yes?” you ask, your tone flat and irritated.
He doesn’t answer, he just points forward and waits for you to start walking. You roll your eyes but ultimately obey, your feet carrying you back to his classroom. He enters a few steps behind you, closing the door softly before he flips the lock.
You spin on your heel to face him as your bag hangs off of your shoulder, “What is it, Bucky?”
“Drop your bag. Put your hands flat on the desk.”
His voice is deep and eerily calm. Your lips part and your eyes widen a little as you stand in your spot. He cocks his head when you still don’t move, “Did you not hear what I said? Hands flat on the desk. Now.”
You drop your bag from your shoulder and move to his desk, flattening your palms on the top of it. You’ve never heard him like this before - so stern. You swallow hard as your eyes dart around the chalkboard in front of you. You feel his presence behind you, hearing the material of his tie rubbing against his shirt as he loosens it, before pulling it from around his neck.
You jump when he slaps lightly at the insides of your thighs, “Open sesame.”
You spread your legs wider as his fingertips brush along your soft skin. His hand slides up your spine slowly and pushes you forward until your chest is resting flush against his desk. Your breath becomes audible as he pushes his hips into your ass, making you gasp when you feel his hard on pressing into your flesh.
He grabs your right wrist, bending your arm to place your hand in the small of your back before he reaches for the left. You then feel the soft silk of his tie as it wraps around your wrists, looping around them both before he ties it tightly into a nice, firm knot. Without warning, he bucks into your ass, jolting you forward as you gasp loudly again.
“You are one smart cookie, Ms. Prescott.” He says softly, running his hands along your hips and ass, “I underestimated you.”
“Mental warfare is my specialty.”
You bite your lip as your body starts to warm from his touch. A moan escapes you as he rucks your skirt up around your hips and groans at the sight of your sheer, pink panties. You close your eyes as his fingers dance along your plump ass, cupping it in both of his large palms and jiggling it gently.
“Nervous?”
You shake your head definitely, “Of course not.”
“Never one to show weakness, huh? I like that.”
You let out a sharp scream when a hard slap is suddenly leveled to your behind. Your body tightens as you pull against the tie wrapped around your wrists. He spanks you twice again in quick succession and you slam your eyes closed as you squeal and squirm underneath him. He pushes his hand back between your legs, his fingers brushing along the sudden, new wet spot on your panties. Goddamn him.
“I’ve gotta give it to you, Prescott,” he says softly as his fingers push underneath your panties and slip through your wet folds, “You had me going. I was jealous.”
You hiss as you roll your hips into his hand, “I told you Bucky - “
He spanks you again, the sound of his flesh meeting yours bouncing off of the chalkboard, “That’s not my name.”
“Fuck!” You mewl as the sting radiates through you, but you don’t give in. Not quite yet.
“What were you saying, darling?” He coos as his fingers travel to your hips and dig underneath the thin band of your panties.
He pulls them down slowly, slipping them over your feet. You hear him inhale deeply seconds later before his fingers slip through your folds again. Your mouth drops open as he plays with your clit, drawing slow circles around it before he pushes two of his thick fingers into you. His thumb pushes between your ass cheeks and flattens against your tight hole, applying a slight pressure as he starts to pump his fingers slowly.
“Did you have fun with the young Peter Parker?” He asks, pushing his hips flush to your behind, “Hmm? Did he make you feel good?”
You whimper as his fingers curl inside of you, his thumb pushing just inside. When you don’t answer fast enough, he spanks you again, making you squeal loudly. He pushes his thumb further and you squeeze your muscles as tight as you can as you tilt your head towards the ceiling, relishing in the electricity bouncing through you. His fingers push deeper in your pussy and you growl as you run your tongue over your teeth.
“Yes.” You hiss, the smart ass in you still winning out, “You were there, Bucky. You saw how good he made me feel.”
He chuckles deeply, removing his fingers from you before he pulls you up into a standing position. He turns you around  to face him and picks you up, sitting you gently on top of his desk. He stays nose to nose with you, his eyes bouncing around your face as he smirks. He lifts his fingers to your mouth, smoothing your wetness over your bottom lip.
You lick your lip slowly before you suck it into your mouth, blinking up at him slowly as you swallow your taste. He kisses you hard, wrapping his hands around your neck and pulling you into him as his tongue bursts into your mouth. You moan, letting your head fall back into his hands as you accept him, sucking on his tongue as you pull lightly against the tie still around your wrists.
He pulls back slowly, pulling your bottom lip with him before he lets go. He tilts his head as his fingers drop to the buttons on your shirt, popping them one by one until it falls open. He flips his eyes back to yours as he starts undoing his pants, letting them slightly  fall down his hips. You bite your lip as you watch him push his hand into his black boxer briefs, stroking himself. He pulls his dick free and you inhale deeply, your eyes growing wide as he springs out from behind the stretchy material.
“That little prick couldn’t satisfy you.” He says quietly, “Not like I can, baby girl. I’m a grown man.”
Your mouth falls open as he pushes the tip of his dick along your throbbing clit and through your folds. He pushes your legs open wider, wrapping your right limb around his hip. He pushes at your slit, positioning himself right at your opening.
“What’s my name baby?”
You bite your bottom lip again as your lips start to curl into a smile. You bat your eyes at him but shake your head - not giving an inch.
He smiles back at you, “You are stubborn as all fucking hell.”
“You started it.”
“I suppose I did,” He laughs, leaning in to kiss you softly, “You’re my perfect little princess.” He says, “You always were, you always will be.”
“And?”
“I’m sorry,” he says, cupping your face in his hands, “Don’t be mad at me anymore.”
You breathe in confidently, pushing it out of your nose as pride swells in your chest. You never cave. You never lose, “Apology accepted.”
“Good. Can I fuck you now?”
You nod slowly, “Of course you can, Mr. Barnes.”
He bites your lips and growls at the sound of his name tripping off your tongue with such ease. He grabs his shaft, slipping the head of his cock through your folds again before he stops at your slit. He wraps his other arm around your waist and starts to push slowly, breaking into your tight canal. You squeak as your muscles spread for his flesh for the first time, hissing as a delicious pain courses through you.
His mouth drops open as he watches you swallow him. He pushes a focused breath out of his mouth as he pushes until he completely disappears inside of you. A tear slips down your cheek as he pulls out and slides back in. You dig your nails into his desk as you adjust your hips - the pain and the pleasure of it all mixing and melting together into a perfect harmony.
You moan loudly as he fucks you nice and slow. He pushes his fingers to your clit and rubs quick circles against it as he sinks his teeth into his bottom lip, his eyes hooded as he watches you squirm and writhe.
“This is what a real man feels like,” he says softly, digging his fingertips into your hip as he fucks you, “Do I feel good, baby?”
“Yes,” you answer breathlessly, tears streaming down your face, “You feel so good.”
“Mmm,” he grunts, “You are such a good girl. You’re taking me so well.”
Your head swims as he praises you, stroking your ego, making you clench around him. His hips start to move faster as his hands run up and down your thighs, gripping and kneading your flesh. His fingers roam up to your breasts, pushing into your bra to tease your thick nipples, adding a new sensation to the mix. He drops his right hand back between your legs, pressing the pads of his fingers against your clit and starts to rub again, his other fingers still pulling and flicking at your aroused buds.
Your hips jerk without warning, pushing his cock into you deeper, pulling a guttural scream out of you. Your eyes continue to leak as your head spins and your body tightens and flexes. A shutter runs up your spine, your thighs shake. You tighten them around his waist and try to grip the desk below you as a dull ache sits in the pit of your stomach.
He fucks into you faster - recognizing that you’re starting to come undone as he overloads your senses. He rolls your nipple between his fingers, pinching and pulling as he continues to rub your clit and pump his hips into yours.
“You gonna come for me?” He starts to coax softly, “Hmm? Is my girl gonna come?”
My girl. Your brain can’t even form a coherent sentence. You’re nothing but sensation as he pushes you right to the edge of the cliff. His strokes get harder, his fingers faster as he rests his forehead to yours. He leaves your nipple to wrap his hand around your throat. His hot breath washes over your face as he kisses you quickly.
“I want my girl to come. Come for me, baby. Give it to me, I want to own you.”
You grunt as your eyes start to roll. He fucks into you as your toes curl with each of his strokes, pushing, pushing, pushing, until he tips you right over the edge. You mewl into the empty room as your orgasm floods through every vein, every muscle, every sensor in your body. He loses his control - pounding into you as hard as he can as your pussy quivers around him.
Your clit jumps with contractions as you tighten your legs around his hips. He coaxes you on, whispering sweet nothings as wave after wave crashes against you. His grunts grow louder and more erratic, his hips faltering every now and again until you feel a sudden warmth burst into you. He hisses as he spurts long, hot ribbons into your cunt over and over again.
He nearly collapses - having to slam his palm to the top of his desk to hold himself up. His breaths are deep and ragged as his head falls to your shoulder. He leans back after a minute and tilts his head towards the ceiling as he focuses on his breathing, pushing them in and out slow and evenly.
“Fuck,” he lets out as a laugh rumbles through his chest, “Goddamn.”
He reaches around and unties your wrists before pulling you up into his arms. You throw your arms around his neck and let him wrap your legs around his waist as he walks you around his desk and sits in his chair. He curls you into him, wrapping you up in his warm arms before he sweeps your braids over your shoulder. He kisses your forehead and the top of your head as he strokes your spine gently.
“You are so pretty when you cry.” He says gently, smiling at you, “My perfect little girl.”
You still can’t talk. You just smile as you nuzzle into him, blinking down at your thighs, a small amount of blood splashed on your skin.
“Can you cancel your riding lessons tomorrow and Sunday?” he asks after a few minutes.
You nod slowly, “Why?”
“I want you all to myself.” He says, pushing his knuckle into your chin to tilt your head up towards his, “I want you to pack a bag for the weekend. I’ll text you my address, okay?”
“Okay.” You say simply.
“Okay.” He smiles, kissing you again, “Come on, let's get moving.”
You reluctantly climb out of his lap and start to arrange your clothing properly, buttoning up your shirt and smoothing your skirt back down on your hips. Your legs are shaky, your pussy and clit sore, but you’ve never felt better. He grabs your bag and places it on your shoulder as the two of you move to the door. When he opens it, the two of you come face to face with one Cher Goodwin, her hand still in the air as she was just about to knock.
Her lips part as she stares at you, before flicking her eyes towards Bucky, “I thought you had detention.”
You shrug, “You thought wrong.”
She slides her eyes down your frame, squinting as she looks you over. Her face drops as the realization floods through her. Your smile widens. She doesn’t even have to ask.  She runs her hand through her hair roughly as she takes a deep breath, letting the dread of knowing she’s lost again flush through her. She’s come up just short - second place, once again.
“Cher,” Mr. Barnes starts, “I’m sorry. Something came up, I’m not gonna be able to stick around this afternoon.”
She scoffs, clicking her teeth as she crosses her arms over her chest, “Mr. Barnes, I - “
“I’m sorry,” he cuts her off, “You know, I can get you a couple of names of some really great tutors that can give you all the attention you need. Okay?”
She runs her tongue over her teeth as she stares off into the distance, laughing slightly, “Sure, yeah. Whatever.”
Bucky pushes past her and out into the hallway, “I’ll have them for you Monday morning, okay? I’m sorry ladies, I gotta split. Have a good weekend. Thanks for all your help Ms. Prescott.”
You smile at her as he moves down the hallway, “Oh, Cher.” You laugh, “Poor thing.”
“I’ll fucking get you.” She sneers, “One of these goddamn days, I will win! I will fucking beat you!” You shouts, stomping her foot.
You nudge her chin with your fist, “It’s cute you still believe that. The only thing you’ll ever have over me, is knowing how second place feels.” You brush past her shoulder as a frustrated tear slips down her cheek.
“Oh,” you say happily, turning back on your heel to face her, “I forgot to tell you. T’Challa signed Apollo and I up for the relay competition on Wednesday. You’re participating in that too, right?” You wink, watching as her eyes fill with dread, “See you there.”
You throw your hand into the air as you walk away from her, wiggling your fingers, “Tootles, darling.”
AU where Carlisle was there to help Bella give birth and Jacob doesn't imprint on Renesmee
[Ao3] Word Count:  2056
Carlisle takes Renesmee and cleans her up while Edward does his venom thing and Jacob does his keeping Bella's heart beating thing. Literally nothing changes in that except-
-----
Jacob gives up. Bella's dead. He goes downstairs to kill that thing. His heart was pounding in time with each thought. He needed to destroy it. The thing that no one sees for what it really is. It's not a baby. It's not a person. They really thought Bella was so expendable? They had all fallen victims to it’s manipulation.
He slowly walks up to where it is. Blondie is cooing at it. Of course, she probably wanted to play Mom the most. Esme is sitting next to her. She is holding some sort of metal container. Jacob pauses. He doesn't want to hurt Esme too.
Carlisle comes from behind him holding a pouch of blood. Human blood that was meant to save lives, not feed a demon. He eyes Jacob's face with a hint of suspicion.
"She's going to be okay, Jacob." Ugh, why did he have to sound so sure? Doctors are always smug about that stuff, Jacob thought angrily.
But Carlisle isn't smug. He seems to genuinely think Bella will make it. "Edward has her. She'll pull through for him, if not anyone else."
Even with Bella dead, Jacob's heart stings. He reluctantly pulls his eyes away from the women cooing at what looks like a pile of blankets. He’s torn. Helplessly he looks back to Carlisle, unsure of what he needs to do. Carlisle's eyes are dark as night, but they still hold the same kindness that he always showed.
Jacob deflates. Once again he knows he can't hurt Carlisle. He falls to his knees as he can't stand anymore. Tears that burn like acid fall to the floor without his consent. "It's not fair!" he cries out. His voice roars out a cry that’s filled with months of grief from every time he’s lost Bella.
Carlisle walks a few steps to hand Esme that blood. Jacob knows he’s alone. So he’s surprised when suddenly ice cold hands that burn grip him under his arms to help him stand up. "Let's take a walk."
Carlisle doesn't have to walk with him. There is a new thing in the world that just killed his daughter in law, a small part in Jacob's mind tells him. The part feels so far away it's screams are nothing but a whisper.
Seth tries to approach them, but when they look into each other's eyes he backs off. Jacob wonders what he looks like to the young wolf.
Carlisle and him just walk down a path behind the house. Jacob stays quiet, scared that he’ll make that awful sound again,  while Carlisle speaks to him gently. His mind feels like it’s filling up with cotton, but the doc speaks in a way that still gets through to him.
"I know you want to kill her, Jacob, but do you think you can kill something that is so much like Bella? Are you capable of that?" Why isn’t Carlisle accusing him? Why isn’t he mad?
"It's not Bella..." Jacob hears himself respond. Why is he whispering? He’s supposed to be shouting.
"You're right, my apologies." Carlisle stops walking. He turns to face Jacob. "I got a good look at her. She's extraordinary. More human than vampire from what I was able to tell."
There are no words. The cotton had filled him up too much. Bella is dead. There’s no human to be passed down anymore.
He just lets Carlisle talk. He can't stand anymore, though, so he just sits on the ground in defeat. He doesn’t care that his shorts are now covered in mud.
Then, to his surprise, Carlisle sits in the mud with him.
He grins when Jacob looks baffled. "Don't tell Alice," he winks. The playful mood leaves as soon as it comes. "I won't tell you to leave. I won't tell you to let go of your anger. You still have a place with us as long as you need it. I just have one request."
Request. Just like Bella requested and begged for Jacob to stay? "What?" The part of him that’s far away is angry at the audacity that he’s being asked to give more. Doesn’t Carlisle see how empty Jacob is?
"Just look at her. Try to see her now that she's outside of Bella."
"You know I can't do that," Jacob chokes out. Hot tears blur his vision again, along with that familiar anger that had been with him for what now felt like forever. "It killed her."
"We don't know for sure." Carlisle replies calmly.
Jacob shoots up. "No!"
Carlisle just looks up at him. He doesn't stand up. Why won't he stand up too?
"So you'd go against what Bella wants? If she does die, will disrespect her wishes like that?"
"No! I won't kill it yet," Jacob knows as he speaks that he won't go through with it. He probably wasn’t ever going to. "But I'll be damned if I look at that thing! It’s evil."
----
Jacob wasn't that surprised that Bella pulled through after all. For now, that distant part told him, her heart will stop beating again.
He still hadn't looked at Renesmee. Seriously, that was its name? It was a truly awful name. Probably fitting, considering how awful it was for killing its own mother.
Everyone was wrapped around it’s fingers. Even Alice had pulled through. Everyone had kissed it goodbye probably twenty times each before they left to go hunt.
Jacob hadn't turned back into a wolf yet to go talk to Sam. He didn't know why. It was like he knew if he phased that he wouldn't be able to come back, and he wanted to wait to see what would happen to Bella. Even with her turning into a monster he still seemed unable to let her go.
Leah and Seth were handling things okay. Seth was giving him updates on the hourly, even if there wasn’t much to report. Though it quickly became apparent that he was just looking for excuses to say hi to the ‘baby’.
Seth and Carlisle came into the living room. Carlisle was holding Renesmee. The doctor looked like he was more of a dad than he actually was. Jacob guessed it made sense. He looked too young to be a dad to all these ‘teenagers’.
Carlisle sat next to him on the couch. Jacob automatically looked away from Renesmee. He didn’t need to look at it to know about it. He heard the doc and the others talking about it. He knew it had a heartbeat. He knew it was growing quicker than normal. He knew all about its ability to touch someone and share it’s thoughts.
What a twisted version of mind control, Jacob thought.
“Jake, you sure you don’t wanna see her?” Seth asked for the hundredth time. “She’s beautiful.”
“It’s okay, Seth.” Carlisle told him gently. “Jacob needs time. This is very hard for him.”
Bella’s heart upstairs skipped a beat. Jacob listened for any shuffling. Still nothing. She hadn’t moved at all. If it weren’t for her fighting heartbeat, Jacob would have thought she really did die from how still she’d been.
Carlisle sighed. “I’m going to  check on Bella. Seth, do you mind?”
“Nope! Come here, baby.” Seth’s voice raised in pitch. He was using a stupid voice that adults used to talk to babies and puppies. “Hi, Renesmee. How are you? Huh? You feeling ready for a nap?”
“Ugh, Seth, can’t you take that to another room? I’m trying to watch TV.” He was lying. The only thing on TV was some stupid baking show.
Seth’s grin didn’t waver. “Good. I wanted to show the baby TV too…”
“There are a million other TVs, Seth!” Jacob snapped. Why was he being more annoying than usual?
The thing in Seth’s arm squawked. He heard a sniffle, then after a beat, suddenly it started crying.
“Oh, no no Renesmee, don’t cry!” Seth worried. He switched back to his baby voice. “Wanna do some bounces?” Seth started bouncing up and down on his toes.
Seth started walking back and forth while the thing’s cries grew louder. “Uhh, Jake?”
Jacob stood up. The cries were pounding against his entire body. He felt his fists starting to quiver. He was tempted to just leave early if this is what was going to happen. “What?!”
“She wants you,” Seth told him. Jacob, with no control over his eyes, looked to see a white hand pressing against Seth’s cheek. The cries were repeating, sounding like whimpers.
“Ah, ah, aaaah!”
Jacob, bewildered, looked further down to see Renesmee’s face for the first time.
She was bigger than he expected. He had heard everyone whispering about her fast growth rate. He still wasn’t prepared. She was round. Her face was growing redder while tears rolled down her cheeks. Her small mouth was open to show teeth! Like, a full kid’s set. She was wearing a little blue baby dress. She  opened her eyes to suck in another breath and Jacob let out a noise that was foreign to his ears.
She had Bella’s eyes.
She must have been as shocked as he was that he was finally looking at her. Her shouts wore down to hiccups. Without warning, she turned her body to reach out towards Jacob. Seth looked like he was about to lose hold, and without thinking Jacob reached out to stop her from falling.
She was warm! Nearly the same temperature as him. Jacob’s thoughts were too jumbled to make sense. Like he wasn’t thinking in words, but in foreign images. For a moment he thought he saw his own face, but there was an expression he had never seen before, like a mixture of awe and sadness.
“What’s she showing you?” Carlisle asked from behind him. Jacob jumped, and suddenly fully had Renesmee in his arms. How had he not heard the doc come down the stairs?
“Show- showing me?” Jacob asked. He looked down at Renesmee to see that she was resting her small hand on his shoulder. She was smiling, though there were still tears staining her face. At least she wasn’t sniffling or hiccupping anymore.
Jacob slowly reached his hand toward her face. He felt, more than heard, Carlisle and Seth suck in a breath. Tentatively he used the back of his index finger to wipe the wetness off of her cheek. Her skin was soft. She looked adoringly at him. Like she had found a shiny new toy. No, it was more than that.
The smile on her face was the same smile Bella had whenever she’d see him.
It was too much, but not enough. He hugged her to his chest. This wasn’t an evil demon. This was Bella’s daughter. This baby in his arms was the last remaining piece of Bella’s humanity. She was an entirely new piece to the puzzle that seemed to fit into their crazy life. She was Bella, she was herself. She was just a child.
He looked up to see Carlisle grinning at him.
“She’s just a baby!” He let out a laugh, which turned into sobs. “I don’t- What-” he couldn’t complete his sentences.
He saw an image of his crying face suddenly, tinged with curiosity that wasn’t his. He looked down to see the baby’s eyebrows crinkled. She looked just like Bella when she would worry about him. Her brown eyes were wide with innocent curiosity, so untainted with the worries of the storm around her.
“I think I’m okay.” He told her, not sure how well she understood.
Carlisle reached for Renesmee. “I have to measure her again.”
Jacob was surprised to feel that he was reluctant to give her over. Though she made the decision for him by rolling over to reach for Carlisle. She did glance back at him once more before she left.
Carlisle took her promptly. He smiled down at her, then looked up again at Jacob. “How are you?”
Jacob shook his head. The cotton feeling was dissipating until all that was left was raw confusion mixed with deep awe. “I don’t know.” He didn’t know. Everything was changed even though nothing was different.
“That’s okay, Jake,” Seth piped in. He patted Jacob’s shoulder. “She has that effect on people.”
So she does, Jacob thought. “So she does,” he echoed his thoughts out loud.
God Bless the Children of the Beast - Part 9
Previous // Masterlist
Tumblr media
Pairing: The Dirt!Tommy Lee x Reader
Word Count: 3.5k
Notes: Sorry this one was a bit delayed compared to my like, everyday/every-other-day release schedule here lately; it was a busy weekend.
This one broke me y'all. Stick a fork in me because I’m done. RIP my sweet baby; I didn’t intent to get this attached to Razzle what the fluff man! (Fun fact: I listen to Snow Patrol’s ‘Run’ when I have to write sad scenes and it makes it 1000% worse! 👍)
Warnings: Major Character Death (ugh god I was not looking forward to this), Drug Use, Depression
1984
You had initially had some reservations about leaving to go on tour with Razzle and the rest of Hanoi Rocks: worried about leaving the boys in Motley Crue, worried about what it would be like to travel with another band you barely knew, worried about where your relationship was with Razzle. However, after being with them for a few days you had found yourself settling in nicely.
You and Razzle hadn’t seen each other since your first night together, and despite talking to each other constantly you were a little nervous to see him again. You tried to tell yourself it was a good thing; butterflies meant you actually liked him, right? You desperately wanted things to work out, but then what if he wasn’t feeling the same way? What if you were like just another groupie to him? You knew that wasn’t true, but of course you couldn’t help but wonder about it all the way to his hotel.
As soon as you laid eyes on him standing in the lobby waiting for you, you felt your heart leap straight through your chest. When he saw you, he smiled brighter than the sun, and you felt all the worry and fear you had melt away.
Things with Razzle had been going well from that moment on. You were officially dating, which was a strange change for you, but honestly you didn’t hate it. Razzle was fun and charming, and now that you could finally spend time together you found yourself wanting to be with him more and more. You spent most of your time with him when he wasn’t performing, and he didn’t seem to mind; just as taken with you as you were with him. You were both so naturally comfortable around each other–it reminded you of how you were with the boys in Motley Crue.
You were so wrapped up with Razzle you had nearly forgotten to call Mick that first night. You kept that conversation brief; simply telling him you’d made it alright and that’d you’d call him again later. After that you tried to call him or Vince in a similar fashion to how you had called Razzle before: any time you made it to a new hotel you’d called and check in, just to see how they were doing and make sure everything was going alright.
Vince and Mick were always happy to hear from you: Mick would make sure you were doing alright, and Vince would want to tell you all about the crazy antics they were getting up to while you were gone. Tommy and Nikki were another story. They had apparently gone on quite a binder after you’d left; pissed off and hurt that you’d ‘abandon’ them for someone else. You and the rest of Hanoi Rocks weren’t sober by any means, but you weren’t going nearly as hard as Motley Crue, and you were worried maybe they were taking things too far.
You had noticed the partying was getting worse before you’d left, but you hadn’t said anything. You trusted them to know when to quit. Maybe you should have tried to say something; maybe encouraged them to cut back a bit. Now they were going harder then ever, and it was your fault. You hated to think about something happening, but you knew Doc was there; surely he’d keep them in line. He wouldn’t let them get too far out of hand.
Surely it wasn’t that bad.
You never talked to Nikki when you called. You asked for him, but he was too stubborn to talk to you. Tommy eventually caved, sheepishly agreeing to talk to you. He apologized for what he’d said, saying he was just upset you were leaving and that he had been scared he was losing you. You admit you were still hurt, but you forgave him–how could you not? He was still your best friend, and being apart from them all made you realize even more just how important they were to you. You missed them all after just a few days apart.
So when the days had turned to weeks and the boys started asking you when you were coming back, you weren’t sure what to say. You missed them all–even Nikki, with his attitude shift over the last few months causing you nothing but grief–but you didn’t want to leave. You were getting along well with the rest of the band, who were treating you like a little sister; and while they liked to party they weren’t nearly as crazy as Motley Crue, and it was kind of nice to be away from that atmosphere for awhile.
The more pressing issue was your ever-growing feelings for Razzle. The more time you spend with him, the more sure you became that you didn’t want to be apart from him. He was already talking about taking you back to London with them when the tour was over, and to your surprise you had eagerly agreed with his plans. You wanted to go; even if part of you was torn.
As much as you found yourself falling for Razzle, you couldn’t deny you missed your boys. If things continued to progress with Razzle and you went with him to London, would you ever come back? Of course, don’t be ridiculous. That’s the thought that would cross your mind, but you already knew Razzle was planning to ask you to move in with him; that would mean you’d rarely get to see the boys. They’d been your whole life for 3 years–Nikki was the only family you had. You wanted to live your life, but could you really leave them behind to do it?
December 8, 1984
After Michael had fractured his ankle, Hanoi Rocks had taken a break to let him recover. You had taken them to a Motley Crue show in hopes the bands would become friends–and because you desperately wanted to see the boys. They were excited to see you; even Nikki, who was trying his best to hide it by playing it cool. They mingled with the Hanoi boys, and you made sure everyone had a great time. They all ended up becoming friends by the end of the night; though Tommy still couldn’t seem to get along Razzle.
So when Vince decided to throw a party at his mansion, he made sure to invite them along.
You watch from the living room, drink in hand as Tommy begins talking up the pretty blonde actress. What was her name again? Heather something–whatever, you didn’t even like T. J. Hooker, it was so overrated. You scowl as she flashes him a brilliant, beautiful smile. You feel someone’s arms wrap around your waist from behind, a set of lips press a row of kisses up your neck.
“What are you up to, beauiful?” Razzle’s breath tickle’s your ear and you giggle, turning and wrapping your arms around him.
“Just waiting for you.” You say, smiling at him. He smirks back, before leaning down to kiss you; you can taste the alcohol on his tongue.
“Were you?” He laughs. “It’s a good thing I came and found you then, innit?” He leans down and gives you another quick kiss. You thought about the first night you met Razzle; how he’d come and found you when you were alone that night too.
“Hmm, yeah it is.” You agree, laying your head against his chest. You listened to his heart thumping loudly in his chest, overtaking the noise of the party. He rubbed your back lightly.
“Listen love, I’m just gonna go wif Vince real quick since we’ve run outta beer–but I’ll be back before you know it, yeah?” He says, pulling you back so he can look at you.
“What? Why can’t someone else go?” You pout.
“I’ve already told Vince I’d go; it’ll be fine. I’ll be back soon, and we can pick up right where we've left off.” He says, running his finger under your chin. You sigh.
“Alright; just come back soon, okay?” You say, and he smiles.
“Of course; no where else I’d rather be.” He leans down, giving you a quick kiss, then leaves to follow Vince out to the car, the two grabbing at each and laughing as they run out.
With Razzle and Vince gone and Tommy busy, you move through the party looking for someone else to talk to, when you spot Nikki sitting alone on the sofa.
“Surprised to see you slumming it with me instead of hanging with your boyfriend.” Nikki says when you sit down next to him. He snorts a line of coke off a tray that’s sitting on a coffee table in front of you.
“He’s off buying booze with Vince.” You reply flatly. He was obviously trying to pick a fight, but you didn’t want to fight with him right now. You didn’t get to see him enough; if you could avoid fighting with him by ignoring his jabs, you would suck it up and do what you had to do to have a conversation with your brother.
“That explains it.” He replies with a smirk, sniffing as he leans back on the sofa. “So what about Tommy then?”
“He’s busy flirting with some actress.” You say, scowling. Nikki gives you a knowing grin, and you snatch the straw from his hand, moving to the table to take a hit of coke. Nikki chuckles. “What?” You ask as you wipe your nose.
“When are you going to stop all this bullshit and just admit you’re in love with Tommy?” He asks, a smile still playing on his lips.
“Damnit, not this again.” You groan, laying against the back of the couch. “I’ve told you and everyone else a thousand times before: I don’t have feelings for Tommy, okay?”
“Uh huh, sure you don’t: and I’m the Queen of England.” Nikki jokes.
“Well, your majesty, you can think whatever you want; I’m not in love with Tommy, and that’s all there is to it.” You say, crossing your arms. “Besides, I’m clearly already in a relationship. I’m happy with Nic–I love him. I don’t know why you keep pushing this Tommy crap when I’m literally already in love with someone else.”
“Didn’t say you weren’t; doesn’t change the fact you’re also in love with Tommy. It’s not my fault you’re too stupid to realize it.” Nikki shrugs. You roll your eyes, standing up.
“Whatever Nikki.” You say, walking away.
You mingle here and there; talking with Sharise, Mick, the other guys in Hanoi Rocks. Eventually, you settle back on the coach and wait for Razzle and Vince to get back. It’s taking them longer than it should, but you try not to worry; they’ll be back soon.
You keep waiting, but they’re still not back. The party starts to thin out more and more as the night goes on; guests finding rooms to pass out in, people leaving to head home, some finding others to go home with. And still you’re waiting, the dread slowly growing like a cancer in the pit of your stomach.
Eventually the other guys float in one at a time to join you. Mick, then Tommy, and finally Nikki. They all sit with you, the four of you waiting for your friend to come home. No one says a word about it, talking around the subject, afraid that speaking their fears will make them real. The three of them know it’s worse for you; waiting not just for Vince, but for Razzle too. You silently lean your head against Tommy’s shoulder, closing your eyes as he wraps his arm around you.
In the early morning, you see the lights from the police cars shine through the windows, and feel your body grow numb. You suck in a shaky breath, grabbing hold of Tommy’s hand and squeezing with all you have. Each knock on the door echoes through the house like the tolling of bells. Your hearts sinks into the pit in your stomach as you watch Sharise open the door, two officers standing on the other side. Mick and Nikki stand up to go to her, but Tommy stays with you on the couch; you can’t move. You can’t breath.
You don’t hear what they say, you just see Sharise go down; Mick catches her before she hits the ground. Nikki looks at you, a mixture of grief and pity spread across his face. He comes back to the sofa, looking down at you.
No, don’t say it. I don’t want to hear. Please.
“Nikki, what’s going on?” Tommy asks, squeezing your shoulder as he holds your hand. Nikki’s eyes dart over to you nervously, before he quickly looks back at Tommy.
“There was an accident.” Nikki replies. “Vince is gonna be okay, but he’s been arrested. The people in the other car are in critical condition. And Razzle…” He looks at you, clenching his fists as he takes a breath. “I’m so sorry y/n. Razzle’s dead.”
You feel the tears on your cheeks without even realizing you were crying. You look at Nikki, clenching your jaw as you shake your head.
“No; no Nikki that’s not–” Your breath was coming faster, even though your lungs felt totally empty. “That’s not right, he was just here.” You whine, Nikki moves to crouch down in front of you, taking your hands. Tommy held you tighter against his side as Nikki looks up at you.
“Y/N, I’m sorry, but he’s gone.” Nikki says calmly. You look down at him, your eyes spilling over with tears.
“No, nonono, please…” You turn your head and bury it in Tommy’s shoulder. He moves to wrap you in his embrace, holding the back of your head as you weep into him.
“I’m so sorry y/n; it’s gonna be okay.” He repeats to you quietly as he gently rocks you in his arms. “It’s gonna be okay, I’m here.”
You hold onto Tommy for dear life, afraid if you let go of him you’ll spiral out of control. It doesn’t feel real; your mind tries to rationalize a million different ways it isn’t true, where he’s alright and you’ll be together and all of this will just be a bad dream. But it hurts too much to be a dream; the pain in your chest worse than anything you’ve ever experienced in your life. You’re vaguely aware of Nikki coming up to sit beside you, his hand on your shoulder as it shakes from the sobs that rack your body.
You sat there and cried for who knows how long. You would become aware of the events of the house; Mick helped Sharise get to her room to rest, then had the unfortunate job of telling Razzle’s bandmates about the accident. You heard them all come through towards the front door, you heard them all stop and stare at you as you cried, felt the pity like a wave crashing into you as they looked at you.
A sad, bitter part of yourself would later wonder if they blamed you for this; if you hadn’t been a part of Razzle’s life, he never would have been there, right? You would understand if they did. After all, you did. This was your fault. That’s the thought that echoed in your mind as the tears dried on your cheeks and you finally detached yourself from Tommy.
You introduced him to the boys, your brought him here, you let him go. He was dead and it was your fault.
You felt a sickening sense of numbness overtake you after Razzle’s death. People talk at you, but their words sound so far away. Nothing seemed real anymore; like you were floating in a dark sea, just moving from one place to another, never really knowing exactly where you were going next.
You’d gone to see Razzle’s body in the hospital despite protests from the boys. His bandmates were already there when you’d arrived, mourning their loss together. You felt like an intruder; an outsider in their sacred space. But they all came up to you, each of them making sure to comfort you despite they themselves needing comfort. That’s not something you could give them now, your heart so broken you weren’t sure you could even feel anything again.
They told you not to go in; that you should wait until the wake. You’d gone anyway. You told yourself you needed to know for sure, needed to see him for yourself to prove he was really gone. Deep down, you thought maybe you were just punishing yourself for what you’d done.
After the hospital, you wanted to do nothing; just keep floating in your darkness, letting the current carry you wherever it may. But you had to pack, had to get ready for the funeral. You were going to London; just thinking about it made you sick. You had been so excited, planning a trip there with Razzle only weeks ago, and now you were heading there alone for his funeral.
You look at the bag of white powder on your nightstand as you zip up your suitcase. You wanted to pack the cocaine that was barely keeping you afloat through this whole ordeal, but you couldn’t risk getting arrested through customs. You would just have to get high before you left and hope the alcohol on the flight would be enough to keep you up until you found something in England.
The coke wasn’t working like it used to; you were taking more and more, but it wasn’t the same high you used to get. You needed something more, something else. You didn’t know what; you just didn’t want to feel this way anymore–tired, depressed, like the whole world was caving in on you. Everything hurt, and it all just felt so pointless now.
On the way to the airport, you had the taxi take you to the jail. You hadn’t spoken to Vince since the night of the accident, unsure exactly what you would say, but you didn’t want to leave the country without talking to him.
You sat on one side of a plexiglass wall, staring at the empty seat on the other side. Vince is brought in dressed in an orange jumpsuit and handcuffs, and is sat down in front of you. Apparently, you were not who he was expecting to see. His eyes go wide as he stares at you from across the glass divider, your face a mask as you look back at him. He looks tired; bags having formed under his normally bright blue eyes, and an ashy sheen to his tanned skin. You probably don’t look much better, your eyes perpetually blood shot and puffy from crying and a lack of sleep.
You move your hand over to grab the telephone attached to the wall, and Vince quickly does the same. He looks at you with pain in his eyes, clearly unsure of what he should say.
“Y/N–” He starts, tears stinging the corner of his eyes.
“Orange looks awful on you.” You cut him off. He looks back at you, dumbfounded. He starts laughing, tears still in his eyes.
“It’s never been my color.” He replies. You stare back at him through the glass. He sighs, “Y/N, what are you doing here?” He looked nervous, like he wanted to know, but was afraid to hear the answer.
“I’m leaving for London today.” You say, tears welling up in your eyes despite your best efforts to hold them back. “For Nic’s funeral, and I just, I-I just wanted to see you, before I left. I didn’t want you to think–” You stop, looking away as the tears began sliding down your cheeks. You had gone over how you felt about Vince after the accident a thousand times, and it was always the same.
You knew what had happened was wrong; they never should have left, drunk as they were. It was a stupid mistake. But it was just a mistake; an accident. Razzle had been just as drunk, and you’d let him go, knowing how drunk everyone was at that party–how drunk Vince likely was–and you’d just let them leave. Why should Vince shoulder that mistake alone?
You took a deep breath, a turned back to him.
“I didn’t want to leave without saying I don’t blame you for what happened, Vince.” You say, looking back at him with as much resolve as you can muster.
“Y/N, I, I don’t…” You see tears start to spill out of the corners of his eyes. He looks down at the desk.
“I know, it’s okay.” You say, the first bit of comfort you’ve been able to give since Razzle died. “Listen Vince, I have to go; I just– just wanted you to know, okay?” You say, standing up.
You leave feeling a little lighter than when you came in, though the heaviness inside you still feels too immense to carry alone.
immj2 19.04.21 lb
here's what you "missed" (lbr tho, not watching tellywood is not called MISSING, it's called "FREEDOM") last week on this shitshow:
kabir pehla mauka dekh ke vatttt liya. #livefree my love.
kiara died the most inglorious death - forcefed a peanut butter milkshake.
riddhima as per usual, the moment someone drops dead in their vicinity, turned to vansh and was like:
Tumblr media
ghar mein saaaaare 90s bachche start playing CID-CID. kaabil detectives watching this bs like......
Tumblr media Tumblr media
besttttt part is that none of these dumbasses are ANYYYYYYYYYY closer to opening the damn black box than they were 2 weeks ago.
Tumblr media
meanwhile someone keeps threatening riddhima ki they're gonna tell vansh the whole 6 hours secret. ho hum. sansaaaar ko khatam ho jaana hai lekin yeh manhoos raaz nahi khulna.
aslkdjaslkdjlsakjdlaskjd anu mom and her new-found spirituality and daily meditation is actually sending me.
Tumblr media
mummyji being super helpful and telling riddhima ki dadi has the torch now. love how the whollllllle family is just playing passing the parcel with this thing, getting their grubby fingerprints all over it, as if it's NOT A VALUABLE PIECE OF EVIDENCE IN A MURDER.
dadi meanwhile is burning a hole in her phone screen staring at kiara's tattoo. bachchon se leke buddhon tak sabne isko ghoora hai, lekin majaal hai, inmein se ek ko bhi kuch samajh aaya ho. why can't y'all just accept that maybe it means nothing, it's just one of those dumb foreign language tattoos, that probably say "ek plate gobi manchurian" or some shit.
riddhima's here asking for the torch and dadi is just like BHAKKKKK NIKAL YAHAAN SE while having flashbacks to brandishing the mashaal like some crazyass charlotesville nazi.
another flower delivery for riddhima that vansh is receiving at the door, and sis loses it. runs like PT USHA and grabs the flowers and note outta his hand thinking it's another threat and tears it up.
vansh here like:
Tumblr media
but also she cut her hand so ofc he's using mauka to suck on her finger. MAN IN THESE CORONA TIMES, Y'ALL REALLY KILLING ME WITH THIS GANDAAAAAA NON HYGENIC BEHAVIOURRRR.
lmao the bouquet was from vansh, as an apology (for what? no like, we've lost count of all the shit you do on an hourly basis, so which exact thing are you saying sorry for right now????)
also what adbhut new way of being pregnant is this that the immj2 ladies have cracked, ki inka itnaaaaaa se bhi pait nahi nikalta????
anyway, some blah blah cutesy romance bakchodi that no one has time for. i liked it better when y'all were constantly horny.
angre as usual here with some manhoos khabar that has vansh frowning and storming away.
police aayi hai. excuse you, we don't recognize any cops here but our one and only KABIR. HAIN KAHAN HUMAARA LADKA??? MISSING HO RAHI HAI YAAR?!?!!!? KYUN LAGA RAKHA HAI FALTU KA YEH SHOW WITHOUT THE BEST CHARACTER THAT EXISTS IN IT?
anyway police is like we heard there was a murder here, and vansh is like huh whaaa here no??? no dead ppl here, no sir. you may leave. police waale bhaiyya is like bhak chutiye, aise thodi hota hai, warrant laaye hain, hatt saamne se.
angre taking out a rolled up carpet, a trick outta the vihaan book. but it's too small to have anything rolled up in it, so.......
doesn't stop the police from making a big deal of searching it though, while vansh side mein se taane maarta hai. waise bhai kaaafi good mood mein hai aaj kal. looks like someone's been taking their meds these days.
riddhima just randomly falling down behind them. like..... ???????
this police is literally too dumb to function. THEY CAME WITH A WARRANT TO SEARCH THE WHOLE HOUSE, JUST LOOKED INSIDE THIS ONE ROLLED CARPET (THAT TOO AFTER GETTING DISTRACTED BY RIDDHIMA'S RANDOM GIRRNA) AND WERE LIKE OK DONE THERE'S NOTHING HERE BYE. LMAO WHAT THE HELL, MY CAT PLAYS HIDE AND SEEK WITH MORE FOCUS AND PURPOSE THAN THIS.
husband wife and anu mom giggling over how riansh ke do takke ka pyaar is enough to chutiya banaofy everyone. kya hi bakwaaas.
the slightest of movement and vansh is dizzy. lol is he severely anemic like me???? join the club, bitch. we have iron supplements.
oh boy, cut to a while later and bro don't look too good. he's still smiling at riddhima's banter and all, but.......... idk man, he looks like he's having a daura of some sort.
riddhima's amazing medical knowledge (or just plain common sense???) finally kicks in and she's like, u ok dude? imma call a doc. and he's like nooooooo i'm fiiiiiiiiiiiine. ok whatever. maro apne iss stupid secret container room office mein. bewakoof.
ISKE BEECH MEIN BHI ROMANCE. BHAAD MEIN JAO YAAR TUM LOG.
asldkjaslkdjlaskdjlaskdj angre ne laash ko vyom ke ghar rakh diya. as if there aren't enough creepy things lying around in there in the first place.
ok vansh seems to be getting real breathless and sickly.
meanwhile idhar angre is doing some kinda depraved play with kiara's laash and........... man everyone in this show is a fucking psychopath.
also it's now been like 3, 4 days since the chick died and ..................... body's not smelling ripe yet?
vansh coughing his way through opening that stupid orange coloured black box and.......... abbe chutiye, zinda rahoge toh khol paoge?????????
anyway the tattoo code whatever only has 5 digits and he needs 6 and meanwhile anu mom has come yelling about how siya's gone missing. great. ek pallllllll ka chain nahi is pagal-khaane mein.
find some letter in her room. vansh's coughing is getting worse and worse. bro, time to get a covid test.
at least siya was helpful enough to tell everyone she's going to saste!bhaiyya.
asli bhaiyya is understandably very very upset. and thus coughing and huffing puffing even more. SOMEONE TAKE THIS DUDE TO A DOCTOR THIS IS GETTING DISTRESSING TO WATCH OML.
anu mom toh is full-on ignoring vansh actively dying in front of her rn and is like OH GOD SIYA KAHIN KOI "NAADAAANI" MEIN ZINDAGI KHARAAB NAA KAR BAITHE (meaning: OMG VIRGINITY KHATRE MEIN HAIIIIII!!!!!!!!)
riddhima is like dude you're not fucking ok and he's still like I'M FINE I'M JUST WORRIED FOR SIYA. idk man i'd be more worried about your obviously failing phepdein and dil than your sister's hymen, but that's just me i guess.
riddhima is calling vyom and threatening him, and nothing gets vyom hornier than being threatened, so ofc, bhai mood mein hai.
vyom, unlike all other tellywood baddies (and even goodies), is a big believer in consent. good on him. 10 points to him over every other chutiya man in this show.
he's informing her about how vansh thikaane lagaofied the laash at his place. oufffffff, y'all need to respect poor dead kiara instead of just shuffling her body back and forth like this. uski aatma tum logon ke upar mandaraaayegi, dekhna.
riddhima's like idc about all this i just want siya to be safe and he's like too late babe. sardi, khaasi, na malaria hua; humko love love love loveriaaaaa huaaaa.
vyom's like siya aayi apni marzi se hai, par jaayegi meri marzi se. guess he don't believe in consent so much anymore. (revokes the 10 points i gave hm earlier. also taking away 50 points for this uglyass suit. bhai tu shirt utar, wohi behtar hai.)
vansh has now progressed to coughing like the people from the pre-movie anti-tobacco ads now.
hides the orange black box in yet another secret room hidden behind some panel, where all the raisinghania wealth is hoarded like pirate's booty in all these crates. y'all crazy, its 2021, put that shit in offshore bank accounts you dumbasses.
anyway he tells angre all this shit kaafi detail mein, and lord idk how angre ke neeyat doesn't phisalofy to just off this fucker and take over the whole thing himself. zero ambition this boy has. ishani hoti isske jagah, toh pakka karti. precap: riddhima trying to console vansh about siya; vyom being a creepy ass monologuing loser as per usual; vansh pays a visit to vyom exuding hella lotta sexy energy.
So I’ve had to deal with the absolute worst customer in my entire working career ever this past week. (It’s Rose at the Notre Dame university bookstore in case anyone was wondering) apologies in advance, it’s going to be long
So for this school we have two “titles” that are basically just boxes of lab equipment. There’s a lock, goggles, a lab coat, a notebook, and an access card for the online book. These are shipped as individual boxes since there’s a good amount of materials. This is different from what we usually send to stores, which would be boxes of multiple notebooks. I mention this bc the store manager, Rose made such a damned big deal about it.
So the whole ordeal started at the beginning of the month when my boss CC-ed me on an email conversation with Rose letting her know that she was going to be out of town so to contact me with any questions or requests for her order of the two bundles we had for the school. She ended the email with “hopefully things go smoothly this year” so already I have a bad feeling that this is going to be difficult.
Rose emails me to let me know that this is a time when they receive a lot of deliveries at their store (she specifically mentioned receiving football equipment in addition to books and school supplies) so she wanted to make sure that their order of nearly 1000 bundles could be split into smaller orders with only one order arriving per day to make sure that they weren’t overwhelmed at the store. A bit of an annoying request, but not impossible for us to attempt to accommodate. The only thing being that once an order leaves our warehouse we have zero control over how long it takes to deliver or when it gets delivered so I told Rose that I was putting notes on her orders so that they would hopefully ship on different days and then be delivered on different days. And she again reminded me that they needed the orders to arrive just as she specified. Okay, fine, I’m doing what I can.
Now, unfortunately, we’ve been having delays it’s getting materials and books in stock on time this season bc our printers are all short staffed and they can only print and ship so much at a time. So the bundles are already going to be a little later than expected. We had a team of people putting the boxes together at our satellite warehouse last last week so we could get them shipped out last week.
So we finally get things together and get the first order shipped out Tuesday. This first order was for 85 boxes of one title (11181) and 150 copies of the other (11171) and the manager at the satellite warehouse gets it shipped out Tuesday last week. On Wednesday I send Rose an email with the tracking information (I had to wait for our regular warehouse manager to get me the info bc the satellite manager was out all of last week after Tuesday) and at 4:56 Wednesday evening I get the following email from Rose:
“Beth, do you realize we already got three skids today? You sent a skid of 11181 when we only wanted 85 and two skids of 11171. Please do not send any more of 11181 and I will write up everything tomorrow and you can arrange a call tag to pick up the others. This is a hot mess and the paperwork the driver had was wrong and we have damaged cases as well. Way to go..........................”
So I was about to lose my mind at this. Not only was it at the end of the day, but she was incredibly rude over something that was genuinely a mistake and moreso, not my fault! The editor in charge of the projects wanted to respond to her that evening, but I told her that, quite frankly, I was off for the day and Rose didn’t deserve any of my unpaid time. Plus i wanted to hear back from the warehouse to see their end in case something happened so they sent out more than they were supposed to or if Rose was just stupid and we did what we said we would and it just wasn’t exactly what she was expecting. So the editor sent Rose a message saying that I’d get back to her in the morning with more information and I went to dinner w my parents and papa so that I wouldn’t punch a hold thru a wall in anger
So Thursday morning I get in to an email from our main warehouse manager (since the satellite manager was out the rest of the week) letting me know that we had sent three skids for the order. Because each skid holds 96 boxes. So, since the order was for 235 boxes, it physically had to ship as three skids. I was fucking giddy as I typed my response to Rose, spelling out why she received three skids and letting her know that I would be holding her remaining four orders for 150 of 11171 each until I got the go-ahead from her that she was okay with the fact that the orders would be one and a half skids each.
Well, Rose emails back that we actually sent three full skids instead of one full and two partials. She included the phrase “believe it or not, I can count” and then after reiterating how she wanted her orders sent said, “My next suggestion would be to fulfill my orders as requested going forward.” And asked if they’d be getting another order that day. So I typed up a very off-color response to her informing her how obnoxious and cunty I thought she was being and how her attitude was helping exactly zero people and quite honestly making me feel less inclined to be helpful at all. And then I typed up a nicer response and asked my boss for read it over to make sure that it was professional and appropriate. In my email i let her know that we only had the paperwork to go off of as the warehouse manager who put the shipment out was out of the office, so we legitimately did not know that she received more than what was on her order and that, no I had held her other orders to make sure that she was okay with how they were going to be shipped, but I could put them in and hopefully get the next one shipped out that day or Friday.
At that point, she got the other manager at their store involved who emailed Friday morning to ask me to confirm they’d be getting the rest of their order that day as they had students arriving on campus who would need them. I informed her that no, we hadn’t shipped anything else yet and said that it was bc our satellite warehouse was short staffed (which is essentially true. There’s one person who works in that warehouse— the manager— and he’d been out all week) so Rose jumped back in to say “Just to make certain I understand correctly, there hasn't been another order shipped since the first delivery? We need to get on the ball with this order short staffed or not folks!!”
At that point i was beyond pissed. They were asking for something above and beyond what we do normally, and we were doing everything we could to keep them placated, including shipping the rest of their orders for free, but there’s literally only so much we can do with the staff that we have. So, after venting into an empty word doc, I responded with “That is correct. We wanted to make sure that we wouldn't overwhelm you with multiple orders in a day, like you asked, and since the first shipment went out incorrectly, we wanted to be sure that it didn't happen again. Unfortunately that means that we aren't able to schedule a pickup from the shipper until Monday as it took some time to confirm that the rest of the shipments were okay to go forward per your instructions. The remaining shipments will be going out all of next week, but if you need us to send more than one order at a time, please let me know and I can coordinate with our warehouse team to make sure that happens.” (Also I’m now realizing that rose never actually confirmed that we could/should ship the rest of the orders so that’s a fun thing) as this was going on, I was trying to coordinate with our warehouse manager to see if we could get the next order out and (as my dad who works in that warehouse told me) they were basically running around asking every shipper who came by that day if they could take the order bc the store’s preferred shipper wasn’t available to pick it up. But we finally managed to get it picked up and shipped around 1 Friday afternoon
So, Rose, in all of her Karen-ness responds “In what world would it be, as the buyer, my fault for making and having confirmation of shipping directions the reason why your company has failed??” Funnily enough, that email sent me passed pissed off to just calm and I’d started typing a response when a message from my boss (who had been CC-ed on the entire conversation) popped up saying “take a minute, step away from your computer, then respond” so I laughed to myself and explained to Rose that I wasn’t trying to blame her (yes I was) but that I was only trying to explain why I was being so cautious and why there would be a gap in their shipments. Of course, then I get an email from the other store manager saying that she wished we had communicated the delay in shipments ahead of time and that if that had happened they would have been able to tell us that it mattered more that they received the boxes on time, not that they were received separately as originally requested, ending with “I would have thought this would be a logical conclusion on your part, so the mistake was mine in thinking that.”
And that’s when I realized that this manager (Becky) hadn’t been informed of everything that actually had happened and most likely just got the bitching from Rose that we’d messed up and it was all our fault that they wouldn’t be getting the boxes on time. So I got to inform her that I had told Rose immediately that we were going to be holding the remainder of her orders until we got the ok from her to ship since she’d been so upset with how the first shipment had arrived.
So once I’d gotten that all explained and smoothed out, I got an email from the freaking Macmillan rep for the area who’s been “filled in” on the situation and wanted to make sure that we were going to be able to get the store what they needed and when 🙄 and she followed up this morning to make sure that we’d done what we said. So we got the order delivered today, another one that’s either been delivered since or is being delivered tomorrow, a third that’s either tomorrow or Wednesday, and the last order that’s shipping tomorrow being delivered Wednesday or Thursday depending on shipping times.
Behind the scenes, I wasn’t aware, but my boss’s boss and his (new) boss had also been filled in about the situation and my boss had explained our half of the story, so I got a message from my boss’s boss thanking me for handling the situation and that he thought it had handled the situation well and professionally and that it was “100% the fault of an extremely difficult customer”
I’m just so Done with this and I hope to God I don’t ever have to deal with this store in the future
Alright enough of my ramblings,  Enjoy and happy reading! <3
Summary: Toni forms an unsuspecting friendship with Christopher that turns into something more. As her feelings towards him continue to grow she starts to  unravel the secrets that surround him and in return, he unravels her completely.
Chapter 3: Welcome back
“Finally,” Toni said with relief as she pulled up in her Honda Accord at Lux. She made sure to get to the bar early and was happy when she got there with five minutes left to spare. Taking a moment to herself before going in, she tried to occupy her mind with checking her hair and makeup in the rearview mirror. Try as she must, doubt began to settle in the forefront of her mind, in if she was making the right decision.
Toni felt her heart begin to beat faster and faster. Out of breath, and body hot she turned her AC on at full blast, Dr. Simone’s instructions ringing in her head.
--------------------------------Flashback------------------------------------------
Now Antonia if you ever feel like you’re going to have an anxiety attack, I want you to try this breathing exercise called “Calming Breath”.”
Toni listened to her therapist Dr. Simone with rapt attention, “Honestly doc, I’ll take anything to just stop this shit, excuse my french.”
Dr. Simone chuckled, amused by her slip up. “No need to apologize, Antonia. How many times do I have to tell you this is a place where you can express yourself freely without judgment?”
“I know, I know.”
“Now like I was saying before, I want you to try an exercise called “Calming Breath.” What that entails is you taking a long, slow breath through your nose, and holding your breath to the count of three then exhaling slowly through your lips. It should help you relax your muscles in your face, shoulders, and stomach. We can practice a couple of times if you would like.”
Toni shook her head in understanding, “Thanks doc, but I think I got it.” After a few seconds of silence, Dr. Simone gave her a knowing look. “But just in case I don’t have it, can you repeat the steps again?
----------------------End of flashback-------------------------------------------
Hearing Dr. Simone’s directions, Toni began her breathing exercises, breathe in, hold, breathe out. She did the steps a couple more times until she slowly felt her heartbeat go back to normal. Softly smiling Toni was proud of herself for getting her anxiety in check until she looked at the clock on her dashboard.
She had two minutes until her shift started.
“Fuck, I can’t be late when I’m literally sitting right in front of the place”
Toni made sure she had all her belongings and shut off the ignition, quickly hopping out and closing her car door. Walking to the entrance, she took in the building, like every bar it looked mediocre in the daytime, with its red brick and black awning. But at night that’s when it’s beauty really shined especially when they turned on the fairy lights outside that gave the establishment a welcoming shine. She reached the entrance and was debating if she should walk-in or call Avery, but before she could decide the door swung open, almost hitting her in the face.
“Woah!” Toni said, quickly jumping back and almost breaking her neck in the process from her heeled boots.
“Oh, shit my fault ma!”
Toni heard a low voice apologize as she was looking down at her scuffed boots. Anger and embarrassment flooded through her, she was angry because her boots had white marks all over them and embarrassed because of course, this would happen to her of all people.
“Shit, you not crying right? Your shoes are fire but they not worth your tears.”
Is this nigga for real?
Toni finally looked up to show the man she wasn’t having a breakdown, “First of all, I’m not crying, I'm pissed and second of all the door is literally glass how did yo-?!”
“Oh shit Antonia?!”
Startled by the interruption, she stared confused at how he knew her name. A few seconds passed until the realization set in after she took in his dark skin and short box braids. He’s had the same hairstyle since college.
“Sean?!”
“Yoo! I can’t believe it’s you!” Sean came in for a hug as Toni stood there in shock, her hands came up awkwardly to hug him back. “It’s good to see you girl! How you been?!”
I’m emotionally damaged, I haven’t had sex in months and I don’t know what I’m doing with my life.
“I’m good, and I go by Toni now mostly. How are you?”
Sean shook his head, “My fault, my fault.”
Her question wasn’t answered as Sean took a step back, eyes roving over her body. He had a smirk on his lips as he took in her black sheer top, fitted black jeans, and her slightly damaged snake print block heeled boots. “Damn Ant- I mean Toni, you look even better than you did in college.”
Toni was grateful that he caught himself and at the same time she sucked her teeth. “You are so full of shit, reminds me of back in the day when you would flirt with all the girls in our Humanities class, and Honey would get pissed at you for it.”
His smirk noticeably dropped, showcasing that her sister was a sore topic. Trying to lighten the mood Toni bumped him with her hip, “Anyways, I can’t believe you still work here, looking cute with your all black ensemble on.” He was wearing black, from the t-shirt to the jeans and even his Vans.
It reminds me of a certain someone.
“You know how I do.” He told her, popping his faux collar, “My I.T hours are slim to none sometimes, so a couple of months ago I asked Avery for work to keep me above water.”
Toni let out a harsh breath, “That’s why I’m here too, I just hope I can remember my orders, hell even how to make drinks properly...”
Sean nodded and wrapped his arm around Toni’s shoulders, noticing her growing unease. “Hey, no need to be nervous. You know this bar like the back of your hand and from what I remember I know you would’ve brushed up on your skills before you even thought about calling Avery for a job. I got your back, with whatever, so stop worrying about stupid shit.”
Toni looked up at him and saw the sincerity on his face. When they met freshman year he always treated her like a sibling, making sure to help her out if she ever needed him.
“You getting soft on me nigga?” Toni asked, breaking the sappiness between them. She lightly punched his stomach, making Sean playfully wince in pain. She laughed and wrapped her arm around his side, “Damn, you really are soft Sean.”
“Shut up killa, before I tell Avery on you for being rude to his favorite employee.”
“Now that I’m back, I think that title comes back to me,” Toni gestured to herself.
“Fuck out of here.”
They both chuckled as they walked to the entrance, the joking continuing between the old friends.
********************************************************************************************
Toni had been at the bar for hours, and like Sean said she quickly got back into the swing of things. When she walked in three minutes late because of her small catch up with him, she was worried Avery was going to wring her neck especially since it was technically her first day. But all he did was yell out, “Toni, baby welcome back!” His New York accent prominent.
The Italian man looked mostly the same if not a little gray on the edges of his once all black hair. The last time she saw him he didn’t have crinkles near his eyes when he smiled but Toni thought they fit him perfectly. Avery had a small belly now and wore a red dress shirt that was rolled up at the sleeves, showcasing his tattoo of his favorite pinup girl Bettie Page on his forearm. After all these years he still hadn’t strayed from the black slacks always saying, “The color never shows the stains of a bad night.” After introducing Toni to the rest of  her coworkers he went to the backroom to meet with some associates, letting her know he would be back to help out later.
It was ten o’clock and Rihanna’s Work was playing in the bar, making the mass of people sway to the music and talk with drinks in their hands. The crowd seemed to not be getting any smaller and Toni was taking people’s drink orders as she was making other customers drinks. She didn’t remember it being this busy on just a regular Wednesday night, but she could guess as areas started to get more gentrified the crowds began to change.
The hanging lights gave Lux an intimate glow but provided enough light for people to see each other. Stools were lined up in front of the bar, and they were all filled with customers, laughing and drinking, some of them eating onion rings and french fries or whatever other bar snacks that were served. The wooden booths that were along the wall, gave patrons the option to be more personal and away from the crazy that was the bar counter.
“Hey Toni, I need a pitcher of Budweiser,” Rosa, her coworker, stood next to her, her voice was slightly raised because she was trying to be heard over the volume of the chatter.
“Gotcha babe,” Toni got out the plastic container and put it under the spigot, pulling the lever. As the brownish-gold liquid poured, she looked out into the mob, watching individuals coming in and out of Lux. Sean was vaguely seen from where she was standing, checking ID at the door. Toni stopped the stream of beer and turned to Rosa, handing her the pitcher, “Thank you!” The blue-haired woman said with a smile, leaving to go tend to her customer.
Toni was about to put her hand out to stop Rosa before she got too far. Wanting to let her know she was going to take her fifteen-minute break, when she heard, “Can I get a Jack on the rocks?”
Toni frowned, in confusion at hearing the deep voice that had been on her mind for the past several days. Was she thinking about him too much, that she conjured him up somehow? She slowly turned to the individual that never failed to give her goosebumps whenever she laid eyes on him. In his usual calm demeanor, Chris was sitting at the bar, looking at her with a raised brow and smirk playing on his lips.
And he looked good, really fucking good.
He had on a black button-up and a chain around his neck that made the eagle tattoo on his neck stand out on his tan skin. She didn’t know if it was possible but he looked even better than when she saw him last.
Fuck me.
Toni bit her lip from her sinful thoughts and got a glass from behind the bar, beginning to make his drink. She glanced up and saw him watching her with his dark eyes, making her downcast her gaze. Not wanting him to notice her slightly shaking hands as she got ice out of the chest, Toni finally spoke, “Well, look who's back.” she said while she poured the liquor into the chilly glass.
Chris looked amused as she put the drink down in front of him and in the process of releasing it his hand came up, holding onto the glass as well, making his fingers come in contact with hers.
“Missed me?” He asked both of their hands still on the drink and unmoving as they checked each other out.
Toni shrugged, “Hardly.”
“I think my feelings would be hurt if I actually believed you ma.”
Toni grinned at his words, “How was work? I didn’t think you would be back so soon.”
“Cut ties with some of my partners for fucking up the numbers, but shit is all good now.”
Toni went to reply when suddenly Avery came up next to Chris, he put a broad hand on his shoulder, “Toni I didn’t know you knew Rio.”
She moved her hand away from Chris’s touch and picked up the rag that was on the counter, cleaning up the sticky bar top. Toni felt like Avery caught her hand in the cookie jar and from his knowing look, it seemed like Avery might have the same sentiment as well.
Toni cleared her throat, “We just met, actually.” She didn’t really understand where the hell “Rio” came from when she had been calling him “Chris” for the past several weeks.
“Well let me introduce you two then, Rio this is Toni my returning employee and one of the best damn bartenders, I’ve ever had and Toni this is Rio, the co-owner of Lux and your boss,” Avery said making introductory motions between the two.
Toni’s eyes widened and she stopped fake wiping the counter. My boss?! How many businesses did this man have?
“That shits all semantics Avery, you're the real boss of this place. I’m just here to be a helping hand,” Chris said, giving Toni a pointed look, showing her that it wasn’t as simple as it seemed.
“I suppose.” Avery patted Chris’s shoulder again with a grin, then turned to Toni once more, “I think it’s time for your fifteen Toni the crew and I can handle it if another wave comes in.”
Toni nodded, “Thanks Avery, and nice to meet you, Rio,” she said sickly sweet. Toni left the rag on the counter and squeezed behind Rosa, leaving from behind the bar. She took a look behind her and saw Chris and Avery talking and her usually chill boss didn’t seem all that happy. Toni walked outside, seeing Sean sitting on a chair, his fingers moving quickly on his iPhone. He looked over when he saw her walk out, and gave her a smile displaying his pearly whites. “I was right, wasn’t I? Shit was like you never left.”
“Yes negro, you were right.” Toni said leaning against the window, her feet becoming achy.
“You can take my seat sis. I need to be standing anyway or Avery will have my ass if he catches me sitting again.”
Toni laughed, “Thanks.”
Sean got up and let her sit down, standing in silence. He kept glancing over to her while opening his mouth and closing it like he wanted to ask Toni something. After the third time of this, Toni sighed, “What Sean?”
“Nothin, Nothin…”
She gave him a sour look until he finally broke, “What’s with the name change?” Sean put his hands up in mock surrender, “Don’t get me wrong Honey and some of your friends called you Toni but you’ve never told anyone that they had to do the same.”
Toni went for nonchalance not wanting to alarm him, “I just thought Toni was better, it definitely helps with the awkwardness of people calling me Antonio all the time until I corrected them.” She thought that would be enough for Sean, because what she said made total sense but Toni was very, very wrong.
“Bullshit,” Sean said, making her mouth fall open.
“What do you mean, bullshit!?”
“You loved watching people get red in the face when you corrected them, so whatchu sayin’ is bullshit. We haven’t seen each other in a minute but I still know you, so give me the real reason before I call Latoya.”
They both knew her mom couldn’t hold water sometimes and even if she didn’t know the real reason, Toni didn’t want Sean talking to her and possibly unearthing secrets that she tried to keep buried for as long as possible. She took in a breath and crossed her arms. At first she didn’t know what to say to appease her old friend, as he waited for an explanation but she decided to stick to the truth as close as possible.
“I just wanted a change, I went through a hard time and to completely be rid of it, I made the decision to have people just call me Toni rather than Antonia. It really cemented for me that I was a different person than I was before.” Toni fiddled with a loose string on her jeans, “I mean my parents still call me Antonia and there are certain family members as well that do it too, but in my everyday life, I stick with Toni and the solace it gives me.”
Sean appeared satisfied with her answer, but Toni noticed there was a little squint to his eye like he knew that wasn’t the full truth but he let her statement stand.
“So, I’m probably hella corny for this and I know you won’t let me live this down but..”Sean outstretched his hand, “It’s nice to meet you, Toni.”
His expression was sincere and comical at the same time and it made Toni grin, “Nice to meet you too, Sean Puff Daddy Combs.”
Sean sucked his teeth, “Here we go with that Puff Daddy shit.”
A party of people came walking up as they were laughing, making Sean check their ID’s ending their conversation.
For a few minutes, Toni was scrolling through Instagram readying herself to go back inside soon when she saw Chris walk out of the bar. He was standing at the threshold and he seemed to be scanning the parking lot. When it appeared he didn’t find what he was looking for he went to turn back around, but he suddenly stopped when he saw Toni sitting in the corner.
Toni waved her hand, “Sup, Rio.”
Chris snickered and walked towards her, getting close enough that Toni could smell his cologne. He looked down at her as she looked up at him. “I can start calling you Rio if you prefer. I mean I have my own hang-up with my name, so it’s really fine,” she said.
“Nah,” He said, a matter of fact.
He didn’t supply any other explanation so Toni gave a soft “Okay,” and leaned back into the chair. Sean gave Chris a head nod as he kept doing his job and telling an apparent drunk couple, that they couldn’t come into the bar, much to their dismay.
“I didn’t know you had a problem with your name, I’ve been calling you Antonia since we met,” Toni turned her attention back on him, taking notice that he had a blunt in his hand and was lighting it up with a skull covered lighter. His gold rings glimmered from the lights coming from the windows of the bar.
“It’s my own personal shit, but shockingly I don’t mind hearing it from you.”
“Is that right?” Chris said. He took a hit and held in the smoke until he released it into the cool air, through his nose and mouth. Toni was mesmerized by the tendrils of smoke, she didn’t understand how he made even smoking attractive but everything Chris did turned her on. He offered her the blunt, probably thinkings that’s why she was staring but Toni declined, not really into smoking much like she used to because of a bad trip she had years ago.
“You probably think I’m weird as hell, that I pick and choose what people can address me as.”
“Nah I get it, some believe knowing a person’s real name makes you have power over them.”
Toni knitted her brow, “Do you believe that?” she asked him. Chris took another hit and rubbed his beard like he was mulling over the question.
“I tell my associate’s my name is Rio ‘cause I don’t want them to get to close, too familiar. When they start to get too comfortable and start to think we friends or some shit than that interferes with my business and I can’t have that.” Chris began playing with his rings like it was a tick of his that he probably never noticed he had, “So yeah I think having knowledge of someone's name can have some sort of power.”
She sighed and crossed her leg, “I think I agree with you, but if you don’t mind me asking, why don’t you care about me knowing your real name? It's not like we’re exactly friends.”
“Oh shit, we not?” Chris said feigning shock, “ Damn mama that’s fucked up.”
Toni rolled her eyes, “Oh please.”
Chris grinned at her and licked his lips, throwing the finished blunt on the floor and ashing it under his black and white Converse. “You’re different and if you gonna be my girl, I think it’s best if you know who I really am right?”
“Your girl? You haven’t even taken me out on a date, so how in the hell am I going to be your girl?”
“Right, Right,” Chris said. His phone began to ring and he took it out of his dark blue jeans and muted it, his eyes never straying from Toni. “So let me take you out this Friday.”
Toni snorted thinking he was joking but stopped short when she realized that he didn’t even crack a smile, “Wait you’re serious?”
“Dead ass”
Chris’s phone rang again and this time he did look at it, with an evident scowl. Abruptly he said, “I gotta go Antonia, but I’ll text you the details,” Chris kissed Toni’s cheek and turned to leave, in the process he took his keys out of his pocket.
Toni’s eyes were wide as hell at what just happened. She blinked a couple of times to get out of the fog that took over her mind and noticed that he was almost to his Range Rover.
As he walked further away Toni yelled out, “Wait I don’t even have your number!”
He took a look over his shoulder, “It’s straight, I got yours!”
She went to nod then paused, “Wait, what?!”
Toni heard Chris laugh as he got into his car, turning it on. He sped out of the parking lot, leaving her to watch his taillights disappear into the LA traffic. Sean came over to where she was sitting and heavily sighed fatigue, and annoyance relevant in his form. “Got damn, did you see how fucked up they were? Imma have to tell Avery I need help ‘cause I can’t take ID’s and pat them down while babysitting grown-ass adults. Fuck that shit.”
Toni didn’t say anything, her thoughts still on what transpired seconds before. Sean took notice of the silence and softly elbowed his friend, used to her having a sarcastic quip. “You good? What did I miss?”
I’m going on date,” Toni said, feeling a glimmer of happiness.
Next of Kin.
this is Alex’s happy ending.
Kyle just got off of a 25-hour shift and all he wanted was his Abduction Waffles with a large Dark Beam coffee and a side of U.F-Donuts. He did not order a Michael Guerin to share his booth. Kyle did his best to keep an uncomfortable scowl form on his lips as Guerin licked syrup off his motor oil stained fingers.
“So, Doc. How’s Isobel?” Wiping his hand off on a napkin, Michael looked Kyle dead in the eye and waited for an answer. Kyle and Isobel have been building a closer bond after the night two years ago bumping into each other at the gay bar. Their friendship has formed into uncharted territory that neither seem to get the courage to explore.
Kyle gave him a deadpanned stare, “She’s your sister, Guerin. Why don’t you ask her yourself?”
“I know I can. I just want to hear it from you.” Michael replied.
Drinking the last of his coffee before responding another body landed on his side of the booth grabbing his half-eaten donut from his plate. “I’m fine, Michael. How are you?” Isobel squinted her eyes at her brother who gave her an innocent smile.
“I’m great, sis. Just wanted to know how you were, considering you’ve been hanging out with Valenti a lot. I’m starting to think that you forgot all about your baby brother.”
“Trust me. If you could forget about you, I would.” Isobel rolled her eyes. “If Alex finds a file about removing memories I’ll be the first to volunteer.” She teased, but soon regretted the words when she felt Michaels powers spike. She looked up at him and saw his jaw clenched and chest heaving. Kyle too had to look of pity on his features, he squeezed her knee under the table as if to say “you didn’t do anything. You know this is on him.”
Michael hasn’t spoken more than ten words to Alex when they were in the same vicinity in over two years. He thought going ten years with Alex was oversees was rough, but knowing exactly where he was and seeing him on a weekly basis was unbearable. They were friends, they were. But after a stupid night with Maria, they were never the same again even after he and Maria broke up. Alex didn’t look him in the eye, when he did laugh at something Michael—which was rare, he was keeping count—it was nothing more than a closed mouth chuckle. God, he missed Alex’s laugh.
“Yo.” Liz came to their booth wearing her uniform. “Need anything, Iz?”
Ripping her eyes from her brother she looked up at Liz, “No, I’m fine. Thanks.” Iz nodded and began to pick up Kyle and Michael’s dishes with Kyle’s help. Michael was too focused on his hands.
“Well, I’m not leaving this place anytime soon, but Alex and Jenna should be at you-know-where in few hours. Meet there?” Kyle and Isobel agreed and Liz made her way back to the kitchen, not before squeezing Michael’s shoulder.
Isobel reached out and grabbed Michaels hand which woke him from his thoughts, “I’m sorry. I shouldn’t of--.”
“You didn’t do anything.” He said with tight lips. “I did.”
Before Isobel can apologize further, heavy footsteps made their way towards the trio’s booth and called for Kyles attention. “Mijo.” Sheriff Valenti greeted. Confused, Kyle gently tapped Isobel’s leg and she quickly got up and smiled at the sheriff as Kyle gave his mom a hug.
“Hey! I thought we were gonna do dinner tonight?” Kyle released his mother and stared at her face. She looked pale and was swaying in place. “Mom? You okay. Do you need to sit down?”
“No, mijo. I’m fine but we need to cancel dinner tonight.”
Crossing his arms, Kyle replied. “Okay. Why?”
“It’s Alex.”
The diner’s power went out.
The drive to Santa Fe was long. Even with a police escort.
“Drive!” Michael shouted from the backseat. Was he okay? Is he alone? He knew he should’ve gone with them. “Can you hurry up?”
Kyle looked at him through the rear-view mirror. “I can’t Guerin! If I could I would, we are already hitting 90 with a police escort.”
Isobel turned her body towards her brother from the passenger side as Liz tried to rub soothing circles on his back. “You need to calm down.”
Defeated Michael sat back down trying to keep his anger in check. As they reached the hospital and put the car in park all three ran full speed into the hospital with Michael leading them. As he got to the receptionist desk he all but yelled out. “Alexander Manes!” The young girl with the volunteer shirt looked up at him with wide eyes. Michael wasn’t in the mood for decency. “Alex Manes? Are you deaf? Where is he?”
“Guerin!” Kyle grabbed his elbow, only to have Michael in his face. “She’s a kid!” Clenching his teeth, Michael let out a heavy breath through his nose.
Liz stepped to the desk with a bright smile. “I’m so sorry. We just drove from Roswell and two of our friends are here and we are really worried about them. Please forgive him.” The girl only managed to nod as her shaky hands grabbed the keyboard closer to her.
“It-Its okay. Um, sorry, names please?”
“Alexander Manes and Jenna Cameron.” Isobel calmly said.
“Um…oh...okay. Ms. Cameron was released and Mr. Manes is on the 4thfloor. There is a waiting area right in front of the elevator.”
Michael ran towards the elevator leaving the other three behind. Isobel rolled her eyes before giving the volunteer a kind smile, “Thank you so much. Again, please forgive my brother.”
The other three caught up and once they exited the elevator they saw Max and Jenna in the waiting room. Max had his deputy uniform on while Jenna was wearing scrubs given from the hospital. Max stood and Liz was sheltered by his arms in a deep hug. Michael went straight to Jenna as she was sitting in a wheelchair and a bandage going around her right wrist and butterfly bandages on her forehead and eyebrow. “What happened?”
“Michael.” Max’s voice boomed.
“Where is he?” He ignored his brother as his eyes never left Jenna’s. She looked up at him completely unbothered. “Cam!”
“Michael!” Isobel behind Jenna with her hands on the other blonde’s shoulders. Jenna reached up and tapped Isobel’s hand.
“It’s okay. He’s worried.” Jenna’s eyes never left Michaels face. “We were on our way back to Roswell when a big rig ran a red light. We were T-boned on the passenger side.” Swallowing the bile in her mouth caused by the guilt. “I was driving.”
Michael stood still. Eyes on Jenna but not really seeing her. He was seeing a flipped car. Air bags deployed. A bloody passenger. An ambulance that took too long to get to the scene. He saw Alex dead.
Kyle kneeled down to Jenna’s level. “It’s not your fault.” Jenna looked at her close friend with watery eyes.
“I was driving.” She repeated.
“But you didn’t run the red light.” Liz said next to Max. She turned to look at her boyfriend. “Wait. When did you get here?”
“About an hour and a half ago. I was there when the Chief got the call,” he reached up and clasped a hand on Michael’s shoulder. “I didn’t want to leave them here alone for too long.”
Michael turned to his brother’s hand and looked up at his face. “Thank you.” Max only gave him a small smile. He turned back down to Jenna, “I’m sorry, Cam. Are you okay?” He was ashamed, she was hurt too.
Sniffing a bit, she playfully punched his thigh, “Don’t worry about it. Just a twisted wrist and a fractured leg. Nothing whiskey can’t fix.”
“How’s Alex?” Isobel asked. Max and Jenna looked at each other, unsure.
Max spoke up, “They won’t tell us.”
The shamed look on Michaels face turned to anger, “What? Why not?”
Jenna answered, “They can only speak to family or next of kin. So, we have to wait for his brothers to show up or For--.”
“For Alex Manes.” A doctor came into the waiting room in scrubs matching Jenna’s and clipboard in hand. “We are looking for family and/or next of kin.”
Michael was about to yell at her that he is family. Alex is Michaels family. Alex is the only family her will ever need.
“Next of kin: Dr. Kyle Valenti.” She read off the clipboard. Kyle stepped forward with a straight back and squared shoulders.
“Right here.”
The doctor stretched out her hand, “Hello. I’m Dr. Nic Hawkin. I’m the attending surgeon of Alex’s care.”
“Surgeon?” Michael stepped forward until both Liz and Max grabbed each of his elbows from walking further.
Dr. Hawkin did not look fazed and continued to speak to Kyle. “I understand you are his primary physician?”
“Yes. He’s been in my care for almost 3 years now.” Kyle responded professionally.
“Follow me.” Both doctors walked out of the waiting room and down the hallway. The rest of the people left were silent. Max walked right next to Michael as he saw his brother slowly losing grasp of his anger.
“He’s going to be okay.”
Kyle came back 20 minutes later with fresh scrubs of his own and a hair cap. Michael stood up and bee lined towards Valenti. Kyle raised his hands silently telling people to calm down.
“The crash caused internal bleeding of the liver and they went in to repaired that and his lung that a rib punctured. He’s okay.”
Michael felt the world lift.
“For now.” Kyle added quietly. Michael eyes snapped.
“Speak, Valenti.”
Kyle sighed before he answered. “Internal bleeding is a bitch. Any little thing can cause it to rupture again. Right now, he’s in ICU. After literally begging on my knees they’re are letting me care for him with the team they have right now.”
Michael began to pace the floor. He almost began to pull his curls out. Before he stopped dead on his tracks and turned to his brother. “Max…”
Liz stood between Max and Michael as the latter made his way in front of his brother. “Please…”
Max looked towards the floor. “I’m sorry.”
Tears flooded Michael’s eyes, “Max, please. I know this is a lot. But please.” His voice began to crack. Isobel’s eyes began to swim in tears as well. “I’ve never asked you for anything. Please Max. He needs to be okay.”
Michael was grabbing on to his brother’s shoulders, looking Max right into this eyes and begging. Begging for him to save the man he loves. Begging to be able to see Alex smile. Begging for Alex to be with him again. Max gently grabbed his forearms and said, “I can’t.”
Isobel came behind Michael and hugged him from behind, “You know that’s risking exposure…We can’t do it.” Michael stepped away from his siblings.
“But it’s okay to bring a dead girl back to life, right?”
“Michael,” Kyle said grabbing his attention. “Alex is in a hospital bed recovering from intense surgery. Even if Max heals him how are you gonna explain that?”
“We’ll figure it out!”
“Mikey.” Liz stepped closer to Michael standing a safe distance. “He is going to be fine. He’s a survivor.”
Michael final broke down. His face was scrunched up in pain and the sobs went through his entire body and into the waiting room. Liz wrapped him in her arms and let his heavy body lean into hers. Between his gasps of air, she heard him say, “not like this…I can’t lose him like this.”
They were in the waiting room for 3 hours. Each taking turns buying coffee and snacks for the rest. There was no difference of Alex’s condition and no difference in Michael’s patience. The rest were able to have him sit down for more than 20 minutes at a time but his nerves won’t let him. They were in their own thoughts as soon when the elevator door opened and a hurricane of blue hair runout.
“Where is his?” Forrest didn’t waste any time.
Irritated by him in an instant, Michael placed a cold smirk on his face. “Finally, you show up.”
Forrest’s usually kind and soft eyes hardened, “Fuck off, Guerin.”
“Alex must be so important that you waited 5 hours to get here.”
“I just landed from New York, asshole.”
Jenna sighed and rolled her way closer to Forrest. “I’ve been texting him as soon as I was released. Not like that was any of your concern.” She switched her attention from Michael to Forrest, “He’s okay but in the ICU, he’s still critical.”
“I need to see him.” Forrest’s whole body was shaking with nerves. His charming face was in a cold sweat and pale to the sight.
Kyle stood up and embraced Forrest, “He’ll be okay.”
Forrest took in deep steady breathes as the separated, “I need to see him.” He repeated.
“For Alex Manes.” A nurse came into the waiting room. Everyone stood up at attention and began to crowd around the nurse. “He’s awake.” Everyone started to ask a million questions at once, the man started to be overwhelmed, “I’m sorry. I can only speak to family or Dr. Valenti.”
Forrest spoke up, “Me. You can speak to me.”
The nurse looked skeptical, “And you are…?”
“His fiancée.”
What.
Fiancée.
Forrest.
Alex…
“Okay. Follow me.” Forrest eagerly followed the nurse with Kyle closely behind. Michael felt like the world was upside down and inside out. Alex is getting married? To Forrest? That wasn’t supposed to happen. He wasn’t supposed to fall in love. Michael was supposed to marry Alex. Grow old with Alex. He was supposed to be Alex’s. Alex was going to be with him. Not Forrest. Never Forrest. Michael felt small hands on his shoulder and felt Isobel’s weight on his side. He couldn’t react. He just heard the blood rushing through his ear and felt his heart down to his feet.
“C’mon, sit down.” Isobel led him away from the rest and Max followed, sitting Michael in a bench. Michael sat down like a robot no emotion was on his face. His heart and mind were blank, the only think and hear was “fiancée.” Max sat next to him while Isobel was kneeled right in front to him. “Talk to us.” His entire body felt like it was ran over by a bus. All the adrenaline and energy he exhausted from the day finally took a toll and all Michael wanted was to sleep and wake from this bad dream. That’s what is was. A bad dream where Alex is hurt and Alex wasn’t his…
Michael finally found his voice, “Did you know?” His eyes not leaving the white floor.
Isobel turned to Max as if asking what she should say. “The truth, Iz.” Michael pressed.
Sighing she replied. “Last week Forrest asked for a favor to get him to be able to use the drive-in for the night.” Michael’s eyes found her blue ones. “Yes, I knew.”
His bottom lip disappeared between his teeth. “I lost him, didn’t I?” He didn’t need to hear a reply to know the answer.
I lost him. For good this time.
