Author's note: This is based on the song Heather by Conan Gray. I think I can write quickly now, I wrote this in a few hours time only, which I wasn't able to do like 2 weeks back, so I am happy about it. Sorry if the ending is rushed, I wanted to write something and finish it too. Anyways, hope you guys enjoy this! (⁠≧⁠▽⁠≦⁠)

“How do I look?” Y/N twirled in her comfy sweater, it was an early onset of December, it was the third of December, and amazingly enough, it was Y/N’s birthday too.

“I told you, you look pretty Y/N,” Taehyun said as he smiled at his best friend. She is so cute, he thought.

“Thank you for this Taehyun. It's so pretty and so comfy. It's so warm too!” Y/N said as she wrapped her arms around herself, feeling the warmth of the sweater her…best friend FOR NOW gave her. Taehyun had several sweaters, this was one of his favourites, his most one though, he is not giving anyone any soon, maybe, she will be the one soon?

“Well, take it, it's yours forever, honestly, it looks better on you than me. You look good in it.” Taehyun stated his true feelings.

“Omg, thank you Taehyun!!” Y/N exclaimed as she hugged him.

“Hm hm, sure.” Taehyun said patting her back lightly.

Y/N could hear her heart beating at an extraordinary rate, it just hadn't jumped out of her chest, she wondered how his heart was, was he feeling the same as her? Was he feeling as consumed by her as she is by him? Were his feelings as strong as her too? She didn't know the definite answer but oh, she was positive.

She knew Taehyun hadn't shown interest in anyone till now, so maybe it's possible.

“No, but that was so legendary, she was so sure he knew her, but oh well, couldn't they just talk it out, is it that difficult to communicate?” Y/N said as she laughed at the absurdity of a couple she watched in a drama. How difficult can it be to communicate? Huh? She thought.

Taehyun laughed at her dramatic expressions, then replied, “Well, maybe, when the situation comes it really might be difficult to let things out, isn't it?”

Y/N shrugged her shoulders with a little unsure ”Maybe”.

Taehyun continued, as he said, “Look at me now, I am gonna tell you something funny which happened yesterday!”

Y/N wanted to blurt out “I am always looking at you, Taehyun.” but she knew better, and it was too soon.

“So, I was at the convenience store yesterday night but I forgot to take my glasses with me then..”

As Taehyun was telling a funny anecdote of him, Y/N, as much as she wanted to listen to him, she couldn't help but admire his face. It was too perfect, it was like a doll’s face, it was so, sculpted… she should have choosen arts major, then she would have sculpted him for her assignment.

If Taehyun was her major in the university, she would have been a valedictorian by now. That's how much she knew him. That's how much she thought she knew him.

As the couple (of friends) were sitting around chatting, a girl walked by, she was a new girl, but Y/N definitely hadn't seen her that much. She shrugged and faced Taehyun, who, for the first time in a while, had a different sparkle in his eyes, his mouth was slightly agape, his head followed her steps till she disappeared in the crowd.

“what…” Y/N muttered under her breathe looking at Taehyun who seemed to be under a daze. She snapped her fingers in front of him, making him come back to reality as he looked at her, with eyes best described as caught-red-handed.

“What was that Taehyun?” Y/N asked.

“Eo? Nothing, it's nothing” he replied shaking his head,

Insecurity was making its way into Y/N's mind. She had to admit, the girl, she was beautiful, like the beauty you imagine when you think of beautiful. She could understand Taehyun’s reaction but not justify it.

“Y/N!!” Taehyun shouted as he was running behind Y/N trying to catch-up with her. He needed to tell her something.

Y/N looked back, she saw Taehyun running, he looked like a kid who just discovered his most favourite thing in the world and wanted to tell his mom, Y/N chuckled to the thought.

“What happened Taehyun?”

“Umm, you know the new girl? Lily?”

Y/N felt a pang in her chest, she didn't want to talk about this, she didn't want to be confirmed on what she thought already.

“Yes, yes obviously. Everyone knows her.” She said with a hint of harshness but Taehyun was too happy to notice it.

“You know, I think I like her, I really do. She is so pretty and she is so helpful to everyone, she is so sweet as well. I like her, Y/N.” Taehyun said, anyone with eyes could see how much in love he was, the love both of them hadn't experienced until a few months ago, now were experiencing that, just to different people, in the worst way possible.

“Oh you do, well that's understandable, she is….good..she is fine Taehyun, she is.” Y/N said as she bit her lip, tears were pricking her eyes. She knew Taehyun, didn't she? She thought she knew Taehyun, she thought-

Frankly, Lily was a good person, she was pretty but more than that, incredibly helpful and patient, she was a sweetheart, she was a sight for sore eyes. Whereas, Taehyun was an intelligent guy with a face for the world to see, he was smart and perspective, while being helpful and a good person. Tch, they are really a good pair huh? What was till now plain sadness for Y/N was laced with jealousy now, she couldn't help it. She hated it.

Eventually after some days, being the go-getter he is. Taehyun confessed his feelings to Lily, which she happily accepted. Apparently, she was as infatuated by him as he was with her.

She remembers the evening they met, her and Taehyun and how excited he was to finally get a girlfriend he had been crushing on for about two months:

“Y/N, I have got a girlfriend!!!” Taehyun giggled, shaking his hands with a little fist moment he does whenever excited.

“Yes, yes you did.” Y/N forced a smile, was there any other choice? Taehyun was sensitive to her words. She couldn't bring him down just because she felt like that.

“Let's all meet together sometime Y/N, you are gonna like her!”

“Yup, we should do that.”

Now that she thinks about it, how did she endure those two months, her tolerance might be higher than she thought, she might be stronger than she thought. Listening to Taehyun ramble about her, while keeping her, unfortunately, growing feelings in a dungeon was a terrible feeling.

One day, as Y/N was passing down the hallway, she saw them. Taehyun and Lily were there, kissing each other, softly and tenderly as if the other would break even with the slightest mishandling. She was already close to her breaking point when she noticed the sweater Lily was wearing, it was the one that Taehyun had swore to not give to anyone. Oh, so Lily is the one.

Finally, at the end of the semester, Y/N confronted Taehyun about everything she was holding back, determined to let everything out.

“Taehyun, I need to tell you something. We need to talk about it.”

Taehyun who was happily texting Lily asked, “Oh, about what?”

“Maybe if you put your phone down then we can actually talk.” Y/N remarked, rather roughly.

Taehyun looked at her for her harsh remark and nodded, putting his phone down.

“What is it Y/N?”

“Taehyun, I can't continue this. I can't continue this unstable mess our so called friendship has become.”

“Unstable?”

“When was the last time you remember we hung out together?”

Taehyun was silent, it was true. They hadn't hung out together in months since he and Lily got together.

“When was the last time we actually had a conversation of which Lily wasn't part of? I know she is great and good and all, but still Taehyun? Were you just looking for a replacement with me?”

“Y/N NO you are thinking it the wrong way, it's not like that. I was busy, yes. But you are NOT a replacement to me.”

“HOW TAEHYUN? I know you are now in a relationship and all but…but..” Y/N hiccuped as she started sobbing quietly.

Taehyun, initially flinching at her scream, went near her to comfort her. But she scooted away from him, wrapping her arms around herself.

“Don't…tae….I liked you…I like you.”

“Huh?”

“I LIKE YOU TAEHYUN!” Y/N shouted as she was crying, she had to say it and the emotional intensity of it all didn't help either.

“Y/N..I…we..are just..Y/N I love Lily, I love you too, but as a friend, nothing else, nothing more.” Taehyun stated the hard truth firmly but softly for Y/N to digest.

“Can't she just die? Can't Lily just die?” Y/N’s deep thoughts came to the surface of her mind. When she realised what shevhad just thought, she had to collect herself and take a decision, which will feel bad but will be good for them for a long time.

“Taehyun, let's stop it. Let's not be friends anymore. Okay? I really want to recover from all of this, as soon as possible, and I need to do that without you. So, Taehyun, Bye.

“I understand Y/N, just…take care.”

Y/N nodded and got up, walking away from the love of her life who was already someone's love.

Taehyun watched her best friend's back as she disappeared in the crowd. He wanted to cry but his eyes were dry. He wanted to go back to Lily now.

Hi! I hope you had a nice relaxing time with your family. Did you do anything fun? I meant to reply yesterday but I felt tired for once lol. I haven't had time to watch Poor Things yet but I definitely will this weekend! I'm also going to watch eras..I was supposed to tonight to get even more hyped for the album but my sister got tired. Omg do you like Schmigadoon? Did you watch Schmicago too? I think it's just a fun silly show and I love seeing if I know all the references. I love Beyonce's album so much..i think it has a lot of different sounds and I enjoy every song. I haven't heard Maggie's album yet but enjoyed Lizzy's and also Conan Gray's from last week and espresso is such a fun song. I did get tickets to the tour and we are going to be in the pit this time so maybe it will be more fun. This week, I'm playing Taylor of course and decided to start from Red and listen to the rest, but skipping 1989 since we just heard it and I don't think this album will be anything like it. She also made her own playlists I'm trying to make my way through, just because I think it's fun to hear songs from different albums sometimes. I can't believe we are already gonna hear it tonight! I'm so excited!!!

So when I saw the track lengths, it definitely made me more interested in some songs I wasn't at first. Especially Daddy I Love Him..which is apparently one of her longest songs ever. I honestly don't know what to expect from that song, cuz I don't know if I buy the Little Mermaid theory yet. Who's afraid of little old me was as well, and Taylor also wrote it herself, so I'm more interested in that cuz her solo songs are always so good. It made me more curious about my boy breaks his favorite toys too, which is the other solo song but I also always love her track threes. I also wonder if it has to do with Who's afraid of Virgina Woolf or not. Overall I was happy to see a mix of Aaron and Jack cuz I like both styles. The song lengths make me wonder if the album will be more similar to Speak Now, Red or Folklore and Evermore, since all the songs are pretty long. I love long songs so it would make me happy. So I think the ones I am most excited for are the title song, so long London, Florida, the Alchemy and Clara Bow, so I guess it didn't really change. What about you? For the bonus tracks, it's the Manuscript and the Black Dog so we will see if these become favorites. My sister and I are also gonna try to do a prelisten and first listen ranking so we can look back on the results. I think it's likely that Fortnight will be the single with the music video coming out on Friday so I'm excited for that since I always like the opening songs and I'm curious why the music video wouldn't come out the same time as the album.

I've been trying to keep up with everything. I think the aesthetic of the album has changed from academic department to a mystery with evidence police investigation to a court case. This is also something I'm curious about and if it will make more sense with the album. I think it's starting to make sense now. What do you think of the new lyrics? Which were your favorites? What songs do you think they are from? I really liked the first lyric about the eclipse and I think it might be from Clara Bow, and the one that says I wish I could unrecall how we almost had it all, since it reminds me of a mix of All Too Well or Cornelia Street. I think it could be from the title song or So Long London maybe? Not sure..possibly the manuscript if it's a bonus track. The others are nice too and I will have fun making guesses about which songs they're from with my sister. For Midnights, we got half right lol and with 1989. I love all of the lyrics so far and it just makes me more excited for the album..which I knew it would, after feeling not as much as I usually am for a Taylor album. It's okay if you don't reply before listening or right away if you're just taking the album in but I hope you have fun and I will be interested to see if we have some of the same favorites! hello!!! i loveeeed schmicadoon and schmicago — i think schmicadoon was like the perfect season 1 and i really loved how they played with a lot of musical theatre tropes, but i think that schmicago was more fun for me because pippin is up there for one of my favorite musicals and i had a blast spotting all the pippin nods/references! i'm already fighting the itch to rewatch it, but have been listening to the soundtrack all week. i haven't listened to the new conan yet but i need to — saving it for when i'm feeling better! have SO much fun on tour! i thought about getting tickets, especially since maisie is opening but conan/maisie is here the day before my mom's birthday and i'm not sure if we'll have plans (or if we'll be going out of town)!

i cannot believe the double album theorists were right!! so i guess we did have a midnightsy, 1989y, synth sounding album and a folklorey slower downed red-esque album! i'm still trying to figure out how i feel about this album; i have a lot of mixed feelings, and i think i need to do a few more listens, but wanted to reply to this first! i think first impression standouts are: but daddy i love him, down bad, loml, guilty as sin, i can do it with a broken heart, the black dog, the prophecy and the manuscript, but i haven't spent as much time with the second half of the album as i have the first, so i'll have to do some more relistening! i was able to listen to the first half of the album twice while waiting for the "2am announcement" then just fell asleep right after listening to the black dog. and then spent all of friday napping, but i'd try to stay up for a bit to hydrate, so i'd listen to like two songs at a time. not the most ideal way to listen to an album! covid really wiped me out. i'll probably relisten once i'm feeling ~ better better ~ and will post my thoughts on here when i do!

an update for you! i've been (re)watching a lot of old bootlegs while i've been sick this week: the light in the piazza, next to normal, pippin, and catch me if you can. and am having a bit of an aaron tveit resurgence, if you haven't seen that from my blog already 😭 i'm not sure what i'll watch next — if you have any suggestions? i feel like we've talked a lot about taylor and some about theatre, but i'm trying to remember your favorite musicals and am coming up blank!

hi sweetie, how are you doinggggggg, how was vacay, how is life going on!!!

I came online bc mr. conan fucking gray released a new song and i wanted to see how is it going with other ppl who like him bc i loved the vibe and its different from what he usually sings and everything.

speaking of songs, i liked the one you linked in my last ask a lot.

my exams are almost over, the last one is on 26th and the next ones are in like july end so yayyyyy

i am looking forward to some holidays if we will get any because its not confirmed yet and i do not trust my institute as they didnt give us any winter holidays either. but i do wanna learn something like dancing or driving or even swimming, if we get like a month of holiday bc i really wanna learn something useful i have started to feel like a useless person tbh bc i dont do anything productive with my time. i dont read i dont write i dont have a single fucking hobby. i am just on this damn phone watching web series and movies.

although my laptop is fixed now so ig i can start reading again.

i have a rack full of course book but i just dont feel like reading them. i go through a 300 page book in two hours, just skimming through and skipping half of the syllabus. and yesterday i didnt even study that much i just gave the exam according to prev knowledge which is so so so limited idek if i will pass. like i am sure out of 10 subject i am for sure going to fail in atleast 3 including the last one and barely pass by a mark or two in the other subs.

and if i wont get any holidays then i think we will join the institute before or by 15th of june and then we will have to settle in and maybe start preparing for orientation for the next batch of freshers and maybe get to participate in some inter-institute competions. bc there are like 9 branches and i am hoping i will make some friends from the other institutes so its going to be a lot of activities and chaos and i wish i will get to participate in something and they wont reject me for being completely useless everywhere. bc that, would be hella depressing. specially as i m already feeling useless and then other ppl will make me feel more useless, like gimme a break here.

i am going to try to stay positive about it though. as long as i can that is.

I am having a good week but I just bumped my elbow into a wall so now my elbow is wrapped up in a bandage :( When it comes to Jazz, I think of artists like Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole, Billie Holiday, and Ella Fitzgerald since I really like the retro sound of jazz from the 1940s and beyond since 1. It's a genre of music that I find really easy to vibe with no matter what type of song or artist I'm listening to at the moment. 2. There is SO MUCH DIVERSITY IN JAZZ!! Like there are jazz songs that are lively and fast-paced like Rip It Up by Little Richard for example and there are songs that are romantic and slow-paced like Put Your Head On My Shoulder by Paul Anka for example.

Now Olivia Rodrigo's SOUR album is super good! I find the lyrics SUPER RELATABLE so A+ for the songwriting! and Olivia's Voice is just so amazing, I really want to see her collab with Conan Gray one day cause I KNOW that their voices would mix together so well, I just KNOW IT. I also think that like Brutal and Good 4 U sit with 0X1=Lovesong and Frosty sit together at lunch *insert Beomgyu's Voice* Ya KnOw WhAt I'M sAyInG *returns to normal voice* like I just get the same vibes(?) from those 4 songs in a way, I seriously don't know how to explain this in a way that makes sense😅

Ariana Grande is obviously one of the best vocalists in our generation and her music literally SLAPS like my favorite 4 albums from Ariana Grande are Sweetener, thank u next, k bye for now (swt live) and Positions Deluxe. HER VERSATILITY IS SO STRONG, IM ALWAYS SHAKING IN MY BOOTS WHENEVER SHE SINGS OMG!!! The Weeknd and Ariana Grande were slaying as always when they performed Off The Table, I'm still in awe as to how their voices mix well so good. and after watching the rest of Ariana's Vevo Live performances, I can confirm the fact that Ariana Grande is such a PRO like bless her!! She's gonna be on The Voice as a mentor/coach and I'm super pumped! She'll be an awesome mentor, I know it! (side note: One of my biggest goals in life is to see Ariana in concert when COVID-19 is over like I have to see her perform in front of my own eyes at least and experience her god-tier presence in a concert stadium at least once since I've only seen her from my screen😭)

BILLIE EILISH IS GONNA RELEASE AN ALBUM SOON HOW ARE WE FEELING? *screams into the void* I'm so excited!! Gonna be honest though, when I first listened to NDA, I didn't like the autotune in the chorus because everyone knows that Bille's voice is perfect without it. HOWEVER when I listened to NDA for like 2 days straight I realized that the autotune kind of emphasises the whole mood of the song so A+ for Billie on that! p.s I desperatley want Billie Eilish nd Ariana Grande to collab like that will the most revolutionary thing we've ever witnessed just saying. Like I'm just super curious about how their styles would mix together into a masterpiece?
