As far as endings went, Scott couldn’t complain about his afterlife. After everything, it felt kind. He wasn’t sure how real it was, but it was more than he could have even thought of hoping for in his wildest dreams. His sibling was safe, uncorrupted, and split their time between Rivendell and the lost empire - and while Scott didn’t necessarily like Joey, even this potentially fake afterlife version of him, Xornoth seemed so happy here. There were days when Scott felt he could just break down, he was so glad he could get a life like this.

And that wasn’t even mentioning Jimmy.

Their engagement was drawn out, languid plans for a ceremony to tie their Empires together at some point in the future, but nothing to rush them along. They had all the time in the world, and if having his sibling back could bring him to tears, getting to have Jimmy, even just in this capacity could bring him to his knees, bowing him over again and again.

Everything was perfect, for once.

That is of course when he starts to see a white stag .

He tries to ignore it at first, even with the insentient tugging of his very soul, but the gods had a way about them, and try as he might, he couldn’t ignore his problems forever.

“So let me get this straight,” Scott knows hes being insolent, but given everything, he figures it’s at least a little justified, “I give up everything, my whole life, to stop Xornoth, and it’s not enough for you?”

“It is not that simple-”

“It should be!” His chest is tight, his voice cracks, he can feel tears budding at the edges of his eyes, "After everything I've sacrificed for you! It's not enough, is it? Will it ever be enough?"

“There is more to it than that, my champion, and you know it,” For his part, Aeor did seem at least a little remorseful, or as remorseful as a stag could seem.

“Can I at least say goodbye?” The words burn as they come out, but he needs this. He may not be able to stop this, but he feels he deserves this one thing.

“You do realize this isn’t real, don’t you? This is a holding world, a dream before the next stage.”

Scott’s eyes slip closed, tears finally spilling. He had figured as much, there was too much perfect for it to be anything but.

The confirmation still hurt, however.

“I know but I-” He doesn’t know how to explain it, the pain, the loss, the need to say goodbye like he needs to breath. His eyes slip closed, not able to stop the hot tears that fall from eyes, leaving tracks down his face.

The silence between himself and the god drags on and Scott is sure he is going to say no, that he will be pulled away from this paradise without ever getting closure.

“I can give you to the end of the day in this world, but then we are needed elsewhere.”

There is a flash behind his closed eyes, and when he opens them, he is alone. He falls, crumples on the ground like a marionette with it’s strings cut. He doesn’t know how long he lay there, wasting the precious time he has left here, before the door opens and Jimmy’s shocked cry echos around the room.

“Scott! What’s- what’s wrong?”

He should explain, even if this is fake, he should explain, but he can’t do anything but cry. Mourning the husband he’ll never get to have, maybe in any world. Mourning the Rivendell that gets to be whole. Mourning the sibling he couldn’t save.

He pushes his head into Jimmy’s chest. Listening to the steady, fake, fake, fake, beating of his heart.

“Why is it never enough?” The words are hoarse, his voice cracks, but he doesn’t bother clearing his throat, “Why will it never be enough?”

S5 Ep 50: Tristan Hates Horses, I Think

Been a while! Tumblr’s annoying as hell changes to the text editor took a lot of wind out of my sails, ngl. It had some problems they're resolving as they go, but it was really annoying to use and to edit if you write any amount of youknow……words….

And I was talking to a friend about this, and they were like “have you tried writing it in google docs and copy pasting it after?” And I happily realized when you copy paste from google docs, it also copies the PICTURES. This has literally saved hours of my life, y'all. It has turned something that was so frustrating I didn't want to open tumblr again into something that is no longer an obstacle so I can write once more!

So lets travel to Yugi’s brain, where Tristan desperately has to make up for all the work he hasn’t done because he was just a wee tiny bit possessed.

It may be hard to pick up where Tristan is on this picture, and I hope I recorded it somewhere in OBS like 2 months ago when I finished the series because it was such a funny animation, but hot damn this boy has hops.

And  you can see him there on the ground in the bottom left corner, that isn’t a rock, that’s Tristan having toppled a man with his bare hands, a man who had a sword and was sitting on an armored horse.

Can you believe this guy ran for school president? And then lost and humbly became the janitor?

Meanwhile, Joey discovered magic.

Back in the real world, Mokuba and Roland don’t know where the hell Seto went. Which is weird, I figured Seto would at least leave a note or a text message or…anything…but apparently even if he did, he just disappeared at some point down in Marik’s old living room.

So Roland and Mokuba decided that in order to find him, they would have to take a massive Boeing 747 to find their lost child.

Some kids have a motorcycle, some kids have a scooter, Mokuba just wants the most boring ass big commercial plane that is meant to sit a couple hundred people in an awkward way. That’s what Mokuba wants.

My bro who edits these for me wrote in huge ass letters "ROLAND SIGHTING" While saying "ROLAND ROLAND ROLAND" so I want y'all to know how much we appreciate a good Roland in this house.

Speaking of, I know it's like season 5 but...who is the other guy? He wears funny sunglasses but I have never heard his name, not once.

But this is when the plane was filled with heavenly light.

They begin to see the fight happening between Seto Kaiba (the OG Seto, the one that is cool and isn’t depressed because his not-wife died) and Bakura (who is now Zorc). Don’t ask me how the time stuff works, and why we see it now of all the times in human history, and right over Egypt in the sky. Don’t ask me why.

I assume it’s time compression shenanigans, just like FF8, so maybe it’s just every moment in time is able to see this UFO in the sky, but overall, it’s here because it looks cool. The fact that this right here is actually not a physical place, but is actually a figment of Yugi’s imagination shaped by Pharaoh’s botchy memories--is neither here nor there. Instead, it’s everywhere. 

Seto is unimpressed by this, because he knows how science and timelines should work, and this wouldn’t pass Kaiba Corp inspection.

Back at the yellow palace made of cheese and mario blocks, Pharaoh is still knocked out from that time he summed all 3 dragons last episode, which to me feels like just eons ago. 

But it’s OK, he’s fine now.

Typically he’d be dead, because his dragons died on the battlefield and their life force is connected to their monsters. But not only is Pharaoh 1.) already dead and 2.) the author of this universe and cannot die or this universe ceases to exist he’s 3.) got the puzzle, which means he can’t actually perma die, unlike everyone else in his court who is perma-gone.

He is not surprised by what is currently happening in Egypt’s downtown strip.

This is probably every day in Domino. Every day Seto Kaiba wakes up everyone in town with his three-headed dragon princess just because he can. Hell, Seto was doing this fight with Bakura on the top towers of Domino just this morning (or last morning…not sure if time passes in real life the same way it does in puzzle life)

The audacity of Yami right now, the one moment Yugi isn’t there to scream about ledges, this boy is leaping joyfully off that ledge. 

He fuses with the dragon which gives him this familiar outfit.

I thiiiiink it’s the same outfit as Alexander season? I’ll be real with you though, I don’t really want to look it up. Either way, good to see the return of putting on a ton of armor in a card game, I don't think we've seen it Canonically since that one time Joey did it against Valon, and ever since then, Joey kind of forgot it was a thing he can just do.

But unlike Joey, Yami doesn’t take the opportunity to punch Zorc in the face, instead he just loses yet another time.

This time he didn’t even pass out, he barely even died. This is progress, truly.

But as Zorc is powering up the peepee missile to fire in Yami’s face (what a way to die!), Shadi has decided to inform us why he’s been stalking these kids for this entire show.

So there’s two ways to read this. 1.) Shadi was Hassan the entire time but had to go back in time from this moment in order to do it or 2.) Shadi possessed the power of Hassan last second so Yami could avoid death one final time.

Both of these explanations don’t fully make sense to me, I’ll be honest, because in order to know that he’ll be needed in the first place, Shadi had to know that Yami would die at this particular moment--a moment that is a different timeline than has ever existed before.

So really, Shadi was just going by a hunch. He was like “I dunno, I’ll see how this goes.” which is more in line with the Shadi we know and love.

Is it a crying shame that Shadi, who has been with us for so many seasons, and it so integral to this show had such an unceremonious death? Yeah. I feel like I didn’t quite get the closure I wanted but I’m also sort of confused as to…what happened. But I’ll leave it there because apparently we get more Shadi content in Dark Side of Dimensions.

Anyway, I have no idea if these images will even fit into a post with how how tumbler does posts nowadays, and I'll be real I had to re upload the last bit of it, which I suspect was over 15 images???? Not sure??? but we found a workaround! google docs works!

Also, Seto didn’t die today! Instead it was Shadi! For a SECOND time!

A wee bit of a slight crossover here — if Pokémon got super-popular at Domino High School, how do you think Yugi, Atem, Jounouchi, Anzu, Honda, Bakura, Otogi, and Kaiba would play it, if they would?

I think most of them would pick it up at some point, given that in the manga even Joey had a virtual pet for that chapter, and he doesn’t seem that type lmao

I think Yugi is probably the most traditional player; he wants to experience every game to the fullest, so he takes his time through the main story of each game, running around and talking to every npc to see what he can find. He also tries to catch each Pokémon as they become available, but he doesn’t really focus on the dex until he’s beaten the League.

Atem still fumbles a bit with more complicated technology; he’s the kinda guy who’d wander into a Union Room and not realize how to get out without switching the system off. It takes him a bit to get used to the game itself, but once he’s got the hang of it, exploring is his favorite part. He’s interested in how different each region is, both in comparison to each other and in comparison to his home.

Joey likes battling, but he’s not super good on the competitive scene; he’s constantly picking PVP battles and getting his ass kicked, but eventually his luck kicks in and he starts winning through critical hits. He doesn’t understand things like EV training and beneficial natures, so it’s a miracle that he keeps winning, and it drives other competitive players wild.

Téa’s not super into video games at this point, but she picks it up because her friends say it’s fun; she doesn’t do a lot of exploring in the early game because she doesn’t realize that’s an option, but after Yugi points out a few of the things he’s found by wandering, she starts exploring every nook and cranny. She also doesn’t catch Pokémon just to fill her team, instead waiting until she finds something she likes and just using that. This results in her collecting a team of cute things that evolve into bigger and scarier forms, and she continues treating them all like tiny little purse dogs. They’re her friends and she loves them.

Tristan tries his best to get through the main story, but he’s more interested in exploring and battling, so he tends to miss bits of information that tell him where to go next. He gets lost and just wanders until he finds where he was supposed to be to begin with— and this ends up in him being ridiculously overleveled for the boss fights, because he was just battling everything he could find.

Bakura’s similar to Yugi, a pretty traditional player, following the story before really doing anything else. He likes going into new games blind, avoiding as many spoilers as possible until he can play for himself. He takes mental note of what Pokémon appear where— he does a casual first playthrough to get a feel for the game and the region, and then he restarts so he can assemble a team of creepy Pokémon and play that way.

Duke definitely plays as many challenges as he can. He plans his team out way ahead of time, and then he’s immediately launching into a nuzlocke or a mono-type run or a no-catching run. He seems like he’d enjoy streaming too; he sets up and lets the chat decide what kinda run he’s doing, and what Pokémon he’s using this time around.

Seto Kaiba. Is determined to 100% everything. He’s not as interested in challenges, although he might play a nuzlocke once in awhile; instead, his main focus is filling the national dex. And collecting every item. Buying every T M. He’d also be most interested in the postgame battle facilities, with a particular leaning towards the HGSS Battle Frontier. He also enjoys battling with Mokuba for fun ngl.

12. MAMD - ngl this show is pretty hilarious just not quite as memorable as the others imo and i say this because i don’t remember it all that well past the one time i saw it a few years ago

Ani - also very funny and i’ve seen it multiple times and for whatever reason the line “it’s a humorous play on words... that’s where the comedy comes in” is in my daily vocabulary. it’s probably the show i quote the most just because of that one line. and it’s a star wars parody that gives me feel good 80s movie vibes and i love that. but something has to be this far down and i’m sorry it’s gotta be Ani. 

10. Black Friday - idk if it was because i was hyped after tgwdlm and had high expectations but honestly the only Starkid show that I kinda didn’t like right away. like i love Dylan and his monologue-y songs but they felt so out of place I was just taken out of it. That being said, all the songs slap and I’m so glad they’re all on spotify so I can add them to my playlists. It was also a bit darker and required some world building and honestly I think I just wasn’t expecting it. Probably in reality I’d rank it same level as Ani, but again I LOVE the music thank you Jeff Blim.

9. Firebringer - Very fun show. Also had high-ish expectations because Meredith and Lauren were leads and I was excited for the first female led show and maybe they weren’t exactly met at first, but got really close, and then I came around afterwards. It’s funny and I loved all the characters and the music is so good and fits the theme really well. 

8. A Very Potter Senior Year - every time i watch this (particularly near the end) i’m in tears. It’s so good because Harry Potter is saying goodbye, and the AVPM trilogy is saying goodbye, and the Harry Potter movies/hype was declining, and like I watched it again when I graduated high school and my point is there is a lot of emotional charge at the end of the show, but the whole thing is so fucking funny. I’m gonna be honest though, least favorite of the three AVPM shows, not just because of the way they filmed it but because I don’t remember most of the character conflicts and stories for this show.

7. A Very Potter Musical - I mean it’s really the first one that got them attention how can you not love avpm? Great comedy, great music, great show. I think I lied earlier, I probably quote AVPM more often than Ani.

6. Starship - The Little Mermaid meets aliens, I love it. Also, very great music, arguably the best villain songs of any starkid show have to go to Pincer and Junior. Also one of the best love songs?? An incredible I Want Song. And like the planet of bugs they create is so bright and colorful even though they’re limited by budget and the stage, etc., and all the puppets are so cool. It’s just a very good show that is very slept on please watch Starship.

5. Trail to Oregon - So this came out when I was learning about the Oregon trail  so this was pretty fun for me. I think this was probably the second or third show I ever watched (first being AVPM) so ngl I have some bias towards it, but the music is good and there are only a few characters to keep track of so I remember them pretty well. The gag of Joey playing all the other characters in Independence is just insanely fun to watch (a performance really only bested by brian in solve it squad) and I don’t care how “mature” I’m supposed to be, I will always laugh at the fart jokes at the end of the show (btw, watch with captions it’s so entertaining).

4. Holy Musical Batman - yes at Batman references, yes at having a similar story to the lego batman movie, and yes at Jeff Blim playing a psycho character. It just feels very classic cartoon inspired, especially with all the puns (which if you didn’t know is a humorous play on words, and that’s where the comedy comes in). I rewatched part of the show the other day, and honestly still makes me laugh as if I’d never seen the show before.

3. A Very Potter Sequel - a glorious blend of all the comedy of AVPM and the emotional heartache of AVPSY. It doesn’t have a Voldemort tap sequence, which the other do have, which is unfortunate, but we do get Stutter, so I’ll let it slide. Also, one of my favorite opening songs of a Starkid show. I just love the show. And I mean I made a poster of Umbridge’s rules that’s hanging in my room I’m pretty committed to the show lol. 

2. Twisted - It’s DISNEY and it FEELS DISNEY wtf. I love the twist on Aladdin. I love all the references the show makes.Definitively the best love song in a Starkid show. The emotional climax is so good. All of the twists and explanations about Jafar and Aladdin are great. Jim Povolo’s character is the best character even though i can’t remember his character’s name. THE MUSIC IS SO GOOD. For the longest time this was my favorite show and sometimes it is but at the moment I’m writing this I’m in the mood for the other show.

1. TGWDLM - YES. It may be because I’m working on tgdwlm fanart rn, but yes, I adore this show. Music slaps, story is so good, there is so much comedy, and there is so much analysis I can do about Paul and Emma and the apocalypse in general, it’s just wonderful. No wonder a ton of people got into starkid after this show, it was sooooooo good. I watched this when it premiered on youtube, while I was on vacation and could’ve been doing anything else. And the fact that it didn’t have a happy ending like every other show up until this one was so shocking to me and it just makes it so memorable.

That is a challenge! Ngl, I can’t see this actually happening. But here’s my best attempt- it actually turned out pretty functional, positive, and entertaining, I think.

-It takes place in an AU where Sammy’s conscious eventually gets to him and he turns Joey over to the police before getting infected. After the extent of Joey’s crimes got out, both Sammy and Thomas figured that they needed some strict moral guidelines in their life. The two of them met at church. At first they avoided each other. After a bit, Sammy approached him and apologized for everything that had occurred between him. The two realized that their situations were fairly similar, and they stopped being enemies. Thomas also got to see Sammy play music at church, which helped Thomas to see a more positive side of him.

-The two of them decided to help keep each other in line since they were both kind of a mess at the time and too embarrassed to seek help elsewhere. Eventually from that they got to know each other and started dating.

-They’re both most comfortable with having a lot of space in their relationships, so that works out well. Thomas tends to show love more through actions than words, like buying Sammy a gift or doing him a favour. Sammy tends to express his love (and a lot of his other emotions) through music.

-If Sammy is getting into a dumb argument, Thomas will encourage him to drop it. If he doesn’t, Thomas will pick him up and take him somewhere else.

-Thomas gets most of his relationship advice through Allison. Sammy gets most of his through Susie. The two of them have a lovely time gossiping about it together, and once Wally catches wind of it, he has fun using it to infuriate Sammy and Thomas both. Norman probably also teases Sammy about it.

-Fights between the two of them are rather dramatic considering that they’e both angry people- at first they’d probably have screaming matches on the regular. They aren’t dumb, though, and could figure out how to handle things- which would mostly mean the two of them realizing when things are getting heated and going off to separate rooms to cool down. There’d still be a good deal of fighting,  though,  over small things like Sammy being a clean freak while Thomas doesn’t mind tracking in some dirt, and over big things like who was most reprehensible in their role with the ink machine.

-Despite the fighting, Thomas doesn’t exactly have the highest expectations for relationship satisfaction, and Sammy is more married to his work than his home life, so between that and Thomas having a fair amount of emotional intelligence (aside from the anger), I can see their relationship lasting quite a while.

I will always be shocked at how their relationship hasn’t faltered at all after the breakup and how they still have so much love and respect for each other. i’ve never seen such a easy breakup and then them being close friends after too. i’ve always believed they’re soulmates, and I still do believe that, maybe they’ll come back together in the future when they’re both ready for it but even if they don’t, they’ll always have that immense love for each other and that makes me happy. but daniel that clickbait was not necessary you gave me a heart attack lmao

and also the fact that daniel spent time redoing the whole bedroom to take himself out so the room wouldn’t be full of their memories and instead joey could move on easier, that is so freaking sweet and thoughtful. ugh

Standing there in his white shirt and green camp shorts, he felt naked. (Dean didn’t DO shorts.) So it was out of humility that when his shrimp of a room mate walked in on him at his most vulnerable he spat out, “What are you, like 8 years old?” Shit, he thought, or maybe said out loud as he sent his backpack as far under the bed as he could and pushed passed the other boy.

“Bottom bunks mine,” he barely got out before the screen cabin door shut behind him as he left. Unbelievable. He knew this camp was filled with kids, but what the hell were him and this bright eyed toddler going to fill time in between activities with? Hopefully the dorm could just be ignored until after this kid’s asleep. When is bedtime for children these days? 5pm? 3am? He’s never had one unless John brings someone home, in which case he lays in his bed pretending not to hear. Definitely not sleeping. And definitely not noticing that it’s not always women he’s hearing. Dean’s got this. Just gotta find something to….. he scans the camp. There’s some kind of archery happening. That looks.. interesting, he guesses. The cafeteria is always an option. But it’s the glimmering lake that catches his eye. Kids, teens, and counselors alike in and around the thing, but it’s hot out here. Like sitting in the impala, top up in 98 degrees, wonder if John’s EVER coming back out of the gas station convenient store hot. And what he wouldn’t give in all those moments to just be somewhere, anywhere else. A basically personal pool? It doesn’t get much better for him that right now. Okay fuck it, he’s getting in. Pulling off his green cuffed shirt (he actually kind of likes, ngl. It falls nicely on his frame) he can feel the looks he gets. He likes attention, he can’t pretend not to. He’s just never gotten so much of it at the same time from people around his own age. He catches the eye of a counselor boy who seems to be the last pair of eyes on him after the others abashedly looked away. There was a challenge in his eye that he’s only seen before in girls. But.. he’s reading this wrong. He’s the counselor anyway, there to watch over them it’s his job to look, right? The cool lake water took away any thoughts of the boy. Or any of the others. He float on his back relishing the feel on his skin. In a couple hours time the sun was sure to heat the water, muddy brown and smelling of summer time in a way that Dean was familiar with. This is where he would spend the majority of his time, he knew. His previous anxieties melted away as he stared at the clouds floating away behind the trees. This is his summer, what is he WASTING it being mad at John for? Hell, maybe him and the lanky baby will even become friends. Keep in touch for years to come… He actually laughed out load at the completion of this thought. Threw off his back stroke, he laughed so hard actually. Came up spitting water. He dove under to take a full swim, letting the pressing feeling of the water surrounding him wake him up to this new life he was living. I can be anyone here, he thought. Be anyone.

Both of Sam’s shoulders jumped a little when the other boy rushed past him. He was scared the other was gonna try to rush him, but luckily he just left. 

And the door slammed shut, and Sam let himself relax once more. He stared down at the floorboards and breathed a little harder than he had been before. It was as though the sudden hammering of his heart demanded more oxygen in his lungs, or else everything would collapse inside his body. 

He even had to part his lips. But eventually the breathing slowed down and he was able to look forward again. Swallowing hard, he moved towards the bunk bed, eyeing the top one and then the bottom one. He wasn’t even sure which one he preferred yet. 

He dropped his bags beside him. He was frowning and staring at the comforter that covered his roommate’s bed. The other boy hated him and he felt like someone had taken an ice cream scoop to his innards. 

Sam was too scared to talk to the popular kids in his class back home. What was he gonna do now that he was stuck sleeping on top of one? He bit his lower lip and decided to go talk to one of the camp counselors about what had happened. 

As he tossed his bags up on top of his bed he remembered last year how Joey had tattled on Ashley for kissing Johnny and everyone hated Joey for it. Sam sighed and dropped his head forward, getting even more annoyed when his brushy brown bangs fell forward into his eyes the way they always did. 

He couldn’t tell on the other boy.

Instead he climbed up onto his bed and rummaged through his backup for his plushie, which he held onto while he laid down for a nap because the thought of being around anyone else felt far too overwhelming for him.

Gremble watches a witcher, episode 2

- I'm really liking the diversity in their casting, and that skin color seems to be 100% NBD in this world. Unrealistically whitebread fantasy casting always makes me think of this:

- ...Am withholding judgment on the thing with the elves though, because fantasy racism often winds up inadvertently justifying the racism (“Mages are dangerous! Elves betrayed the humans!” etc) and forgets that IRL racism is completely fucking arbitrary.

- Splitting the narrative three ways put a strain on this episode, ngl. I get that they have to show what's going on with Ciri, but watching a child running and hiding and running and hiding is not terribly compelling. Though I did like that they showed-us-not-told-us that she's both resourceful and empathetic, re: dyeing her hair with mud and sharing her glove with the boy.

- The show continues to do interesting things with morally ambivalent characters—that the woman who doesn't hesitate to give Ciri food and shelter and implicitly offer her a place in their family is also downright abusive to the help—and leaves us to form our own opinions.

- Yennefer's backstory was good, but unsurprising, pretty much what tumblr had led me to expect. Again with the moral ambiguity around Tissaia: who is introduced as an Unpleasant-nigh-Abusive person, but as the episode progresses, you get the sense that there's a reason she takes the approach that she does, that her cruelty isn't pointless sadism. (Which, to be sure... doesn't justify abuse? But it does potentially complicate Yennefer's reaction to it.)

- Also ambiguous: Istredd! I hope he turns out to be legit, because their romance is very sweet. And yes, both of them are obviously being used as pawns by their respective headmasters, but I think it's worth noting that the information he handed over to Stregobor (that Yennefer is part-elf) is way less weaponize-able than other things she'd told him (re: that her deepest fear is being judged and found wanting).

- Jaskier, hm. Maybe he'll grow into something more than a one-note comedy sidekick. Because (having read lots o' fic before watching this) I was primed to like him, and I largely did, but I could also sympathize with the people who found him annoying.

- (It doesn't help that I don't find Joey Batey attractive? He just looks too much like me?? His face, like mine, does weird unsexy things when he makes facial expressions, and all I see when I look at him is everything I dislike about my own features. Granted, Jaskier has much better Game than I do—I feel like he's running a con in which he fools people into thinking he's hot?)

- WOT THE FUK, the entire resolution of the Filavandrel (sp) part of the episode happened offscreen?? I could have done with them cutting some minutes from Ciri's sections to make room for that instead. Felt like a cop-out, 2/10.

- Yea the song is catchy.

Tbh I don't think Delena was the original plan because one of TVD's original showrunners, Kevin Williamson, is a major Stelena shipper and has said as much in multiple interviews, AND he's the showrunner/creator of Dawson's Creek and the love triangle pattern is exactly the same. In DC, KW preferred Dawson/Joey and they were the couple that got together first, but Pacey/Joey had the better writing and slower-burn, were more popular in fandom and became endgame contrary to KW's original plans.

I mean from what I remember from dawson’s creek ie very little bc I watched like random eps and I only knew what was going on with it from my friends the whole pacey/joy thing took off sometime after s3-ish? or around then? but like... I had seen stuff from earlier seasons and ngl it did look like they wanted dawson/joey endgame and they stumbled across it, with d/elena it was... like... way more telegraphed since the beginning so either julie plec was like YEAH SURE KEVIN WE’RE DOING IT LIKE THAT and he didn’t realize what she was doing bc if he doesn’t get what tropes he’s writing/sanctioning then too bad for him, or... idk but honestly I’d be extremely iffy on the fact that d/elena wasn’t something someone in that writing room wanted from the get-go because it was really too glaring and set up from the beginning to be a change in plans imvho, then maybe I’m wrong but if I am then it’s the most accidentally well-planned show that ever existed
