DATE: Friday, April 17, 2020 CHARACTERS: Jack and Parker ABOUT: Mini-golf? Hair pulling? Germs? Jocks? Gay clowns? Karen? Whitney Houston?
Parker knocked on Jack’s cabin door and smoothed his shirt, which was decidedly not a polo. He stood back and tilted his head to look up at the cabin. He never really understood why the people who designed the cabin went with this fucked up idea rather than one with bedrooms and wifi like his old one. He’d never been inside the cabin, but he figured it would be disorienting to see everyone walking by from the outside. “Hey!” He smiled when Jack answered the door, trying not to sound overly excited.
Lil' Jack had already beaten Jack to the door by the time Parker knocked. The huge windows made it easy to tell when anybody was coming near—not that anybody did—and they had become Lil' Jack's favorite place to pass the time people-watching. "Hey," Jack smiled as he opened the door. "Lil' Jack, sit," he tried to instruct as the dog raced forward to sniff Parker's shoes. "Sit!"
Parker smiled down at the little dog at his feet. "Hey buddy." He crouched before realizing that maybe Jack wanted to give his dog a lesson in discipline and that he might be reinforcing bad behaviors. "Is it cool if I pet him?"
"Yeah," Jack nodded. "He likes it when you scratch under his chin. I mean—I think he does? Sometimes he'll fall over but I can't tell if that means he's in ecstasy or if he's just given up."
Parker pet the dog that was jumping and wiggling at his feet. He scratched under his chin and the dog took a seat. He laughed a bit, looking up at (apparent) Big Jack. “Is he coming with us?” He laughed.
"So everyone can see the white-haired cyclops has a dog equivalent with the same name? Absolutely not," Jack declared. "He can take care of himself for a few hours."
Parker laughed again and gave the dog another pat before he stood. “Got all your putters ready?”
Jack stood aside to let Lil' Jack run back into the living room. "My... Oh. Um. Are we supposed to bring our own? Because, I don't—" He looked back into his house, trying to think of something he could use.
Parker shook his head quickly. “Oh! No, that was a joke.” He laughed a bit. “I just meant, like, are you ready for mini golf?”
"Oh." Jack smiled in relief. "Yeah, I'm ready." He started to step outside to close the door but paused halfway. "Wait, is what I'm wearing fine? I mean—I know we joked about suits but now I'm not sure what people wear to mini golf." He held out his hands so that Parker could assess his black shirt, black jean outfit.
Parker snorted and shook his head. “There isn’t , like, a dress code for mini golf. You look fine.” He rocked back on his heels. “I parked just over...” He motioned vaguely. “Have you never done mini golf before?”
Jack stepped out onto his porch and shut the door behind him. "Jack is really sheltered, surprise, surprise," he jokingly confirmed. "It always looks fun on TV though. The windmills."
Parker exhaled hard in a laugh and led them to the car. "It is fun! I haven't been in a while, but I like it when the tubes lead to other holes." He tilted his head. "You'll see what I mean when I get there. How was work?" He raised his eyebrows a bit.
Jack couldn't imagine what Parker was trying to say, but just nodded along anyway. "Work was... Nice," Jack lied. "I'm learning how to milk animals. Which I did not realize was going to be part of it."
"Ew," Parker said without thinking. "Uh, I mean, like... how was that?" He shook his head and opened the passenger door for Jack before circling around to get into the driver's seat.
Jack's heartbeat did a little flutter when Parker opened the door for him. He laughed and shook his head. "'Ew' is honestly a great word for it." He climbed into the seat and shut the door, then waited for Parker to get in before continuing. "It feels like... I'm violating the cow? But also weirdly satisfying. I..." He shook his head and put his hands up. "Okay, but that makes it sound like I'm a farm predator and that's really not what I meant."
Parker laughed as he buckled himself in. "Oh my God. I... guess I get it?" He laughed again and pulled out from where he was parked. "Can't say I've milked many cows though, fortunately enough. So you're, like, full milkman then? Like, get the milk, bottle it, deliver it?"
Jack pressed his lips together. "Yeah. Seems like it." He looked out the window, trying to remember the last time he was in a car. "Oh, but I don't have to wear a milkman outfit. To answer your question from the other day."
"Shame." Parker smiled and glanced at Jack as he pulled onto the road. "Not sure that's really your style though."
"Not really," Jack laughed. He looked over to watch Parker's hands on the steering wheel, occasionally glancing down to see his feet on the pedals.
Parker glanced at the GPS. "Can you tell me when my turn is? I hate when it talks so I mute it but then I have to constantly look at it," he admitted with a bit of a laugh. "Hard to drive without a navigator because of it.”
"Oh, yeah." Jack felt strangely excited about stepping into the role of a navigator. "You've got a mile," he instructed. "Then it's a right." He leaned back in his seat and checked his reflection in the side mirror. He wiggled his eyepatch around, trying to adjust it to look right on his face, but couldn't quite get it to sit the way he wanted. He sighed and turned back to the GPS instead. "Quarter of a mile.”
Parker turned when he was supposed to. "Thanks." He gave a small nod. "Sorry for taking you somewhere where you have a lack of experience, but I'm not gonna hold back." He grinned. "I'm gonna absolutely destroy you at mini golf."
Jack smiled. "I'd be kinda disappointed if you didn't. Like, if you took me on a date to mini golf but you're actually shit at mini golf? I'd judge you."
Parker laughed, a small flutter in his stomach as Jack mentioned the word date. "Yeah. I gotta play to my strengths. Last person I did this with could control the wind, and so I had to get really good to compete with that."
"Wait, what?" Jack laughed. "Ugh, people with powers are wild. Imagine being the wind god and that's what your kid is doing with their divine skills."
Parker shook his head. "Yeah. She could also summon lightning, but that was only when I won," he joked. "I think I'm lucky I don't have any powers, honestly, they seem..." He stopped himself from saying more, given who he was talking to, then wondered why he said anything. "Um, do I have another turn soon?"
Jack muttered a knowing, "Hm." He glanced down at the GPS and nodded. "Sorry, yeah—half a mile it's gonna be a left." He looked over at Parker and just watched him drive for a moment before chuckling. "I'm sorry—uh... Do you mind if I just, like..." Jack shook his head. "Never mind."
Parker glanced at Jack and raised an eyebrow before looking back at the road. "Do I mind if you...?"
Jack started turning pink and just shook his head, laughing. "Ugh, nothing. You're gonna think I'm a total loser if I ask and I'm already about to humiliate myself playing a sport."
Parker shook his head. "I can go easy on you. I promise I'm not that good at mini golf, I haven't done it in years."
"Sure," Jack said, his tone dripping with disbelief. He eyed the radio on the dashboard for a moment but said nothing about it. "This is the turn."
Parker shrugged one shoulder and didn't notice Jack's look. He put on his blinker and turned. "Uh, how's the gym going?"
Jack laughed. "Um. Fine. I have no idea what I'm doing so I probably look ridiculous." Jack shrugged. "I went at like, 2pm and there was nobody there. Hopefully it stays that way." He propped his elbow up on the window ledge so he could rest his head on his hand. He grinned at Parker coyly. "Do you lift?"
Parker smiled at the thought of Jack working out. He couldn't really imagine it. He snorted. "Yeah, gotta get those gains. Never skip leg day and all that. That's why I'm so hot."
Jack turned his face into his hand and laughed. "If that's what it takes to look the way you did in that ice cream jumper, then yeah. Never skip leg day." Jack saw a huge light up sign flickering ahead and pointed at it. "Is that the one?"
Parker grinned. "I still have it, if you want to borrow it and track your progress." He bobbed his head and pulled into the parking lot. "Yep! You ready for windmills and weird clowns?" He unbuckled his seatbelt and stepped out of the car.
Jack paused. "Wait, what?" He climbed out of the passenger seat. "Weird clowns? What kind of place is this?"
Parker shut the door behind him and shook his head. "Like, they have a bunch of weird stuff like that, like you have to pass the ball through the mouth of a clown on one of them. Are you afraid of clowns? It's just one hole."
Jack laughed. "I'm not. I think they're kinda sad." Jack looked ahead at the entrance to the mini golf area and felt a shudder run down his back. "Um, hang on. Can I talk to you before we go in there?"
Parker tilted his head, confused. "Sad?" He raised his eyebrows and nodded. "Um, yeah, sure."
"Okay, sorry—I don't mean to be a huge drama queen all the time. I'm just..." Jack shook his head and stuffed his hands in his pockets. "Just kinda nervous? It's been a while since I've been around people who aren't, like... Demigods. And I'm kinda just remembering now that normal people aren't, like... Used to me. What I do. Sorry—am I making sense?" Jack was bouncing up and down on his heels.
"Oh." Parker nodded and rubbed the back of his neck. "Yeah, yeah. Um, we can just make sure that nobody touches you? Or, did you not want to go in anymore?"
"No, I definitely wanna go in," Jack quickly clarified. "Um. I'm just—I don't really know how my powers work on people people? Sorry." Jack shook his head. "I shouldn't have brought it up. Everything's probably gonna be okay and I'm... Let's just—" Jack made a shooping motion toward the entrance.
Parker nodded slowly. "Okay. Let me know if you feel uncomfortable at all." He started walking to the entrance and smiled at Jack. "Um, I brought gloves."
Jack smiled back. "Oh." He couldn't tell if his nerves were coming from a place of happiness or anxiety. Jack told himself they were happy. He held out his hands to take the gloves and added, "Thanks."
Parker pulled plastic gloves from his pocket and handed them to Jack. When they entered, Parker didn't seem to notice the uneasy glances in their direction. He paid for both of them and picked out a few putters, trying to figure out which one was good for his height. "I grabbed us some balls, but they might be the same colour." He held out a red ball and a green one.
Jack tried to keep his head down, ignoring the glances of strangers as he passed by. He slipped the gloves on as Parker paid then looked down at the golf balls he picked out. Jack laughed. "Um, do you wanna get another color?" He plucked the green one from Parker's hand. "This one is green."
Parker put away the red ball and picked out a yellow one. "What's this?"
"Yellow," Jack replied. "Uh, how many colors can you see?"
"I've never counted!" Parker put away the ball and picked out a purple one. "This is... blue?"
Jack smiled. "Purple."
"Hmm." Parker nodded. "Well, it's different than that one." He walked to the first hole and put his ball down. "You know how this works, right?"
Jack scoffed. "I'm not an idiot Parker." He looked down the green and pursed his lips. "But just for your sake, maybe you should explain how it works."
Parker's face fell when Jack scoffed, afraid that he'd offended him, but then grinned. "Um, well, you have to start on this end." He put his ball down. "And then you hit it with the putter and try to get it in the hole. And then we write down how many hits it takes to get it in, and whoever has the lowest score wins." He nodded. "Do you wanna go first, or should I?"
Jack followed along. He had known how the game worked, it turned out, but was glad that he wasn't just imagining it. "Uh, let me go first. Before you destroy my self-confidence with your skills," Jack joked. He set his ball down, looked toward the hole, and haphazardly swung his putter, sending the ball bouncing down the green. "Fuck," he laughed.
Parker smiled and watched Jack. "Okay, now just go until you get it in." He swung his putter back and forth. "You know, I just realized that I keep trying to make you do sporty things. Next time we can do something more to your strengths, I promise. We can, um... milk cows?" He joked.
Jack shoved Parker. "Ew, shut up!" He laughed and crossed his arms. "Ugh. If that becomes my thing, I'm gonna like... Walk into the sea."
Parker laughed and wasn't even moved by Jack's shove. "Fine, fine, what's your thing then? Being cute and moody?"
Jack felt his cheeks warming. "I mean, duh." He stepped aside so Parker could tee up. "I don't know... Like... Music? I'm not really good at anything, TBH. It's something I've actually been thinking about. Kinda why I wanted to get a job."
Parker put his ball down and shot. The ball went straight into the hole, then he looked back at Jack. "And a dog? Or was that just because you guys match?"
"Uh, no," Jack tried not to look too impressed that Parker scored a hole in one. "I don't really know why I did that." Jack shrugged. "I guess... It's nice to have someone around who doesn't see me for what I'm lacking, or for what I can't do. I'm just... A person." Jack's eyes flickered to Parker's. "But also because we match."
Jack shrugged, following Parker down the green. "I guess it's because he's an animal? I haven't had any issues with the cows either, so..." He looked at his ball sitting ten feet away from the hole. "Do I hit it again or am I out because you already got it in?"
Parker shook his head and stood back. "You just keep going, and then we track how many hits it takes you to get it in." He swung his putter back and forth again. "He's sweet. Does he like your music?"
"Oh cool, so we drag it out for maximum shame. I love that," Jack joked, putting the ball once more. The ball came to a stop about two feet from the hole. "I guess? He hasn't complained about it yet. We'll see if he runs away." Jack walked over to the hole and putted once again. The ball clattered as it fell into the plastic cup. Jack smiled over at Parker and pointed at himself. "Jock."
"It'd be cute if he howled along with it or something. You can put him on a track." Parker laughed. "Your French needs some improvement." He started off to the next obstacle.
Jack furrowed his brow at Parker's joke, not quite getting it. "I'll... Think about that." Jack looked around at the three greens surrounding them and pointed at the nearest one. "Um, I'm assuming this is the next one because of this sidewalk thing, but you're the golf expert."
Parker didn't process that Jack wouldn't get the joke, so he moved on. "Yeah, it's pretty straightforward, kinda leads you right around the course." He tapped Jack's leg with his club. "This one's got a little hill, and I think the next one has the windmill, so it'll actually get exciting." He put the ball down, tapped it, and ran to the top of the hill to meet it. "What's your favourite food?"
Jack watched Parker putt so that he could try to recreate the same shot. Once Parker left, Jack lined up his ball the same way and gave a good, hard hit. "Um, not sure," Jack thought out loud as the ball careened down the green. "Maybe açai bowls? I, like... Eat them sometimes," he shrugged.
Parker moved out of the way so that he wouldn't mess up the shot, then took his own, managing to just get the ball into the hole. "Okay." He nodded, pocketing that information. "Do you... dye your hair that colour?"
Jack laughed as he lined up his shot. "No. That's the natural color. My mom had white hair when she was young too." He putted the ball, once again coming within three feet of the hole. "What else do you wanna know?"
Parker hummed and rocked back and forth on his feet. "Um, I don't know," he admitted with a small smile. "Have you ever seen Ratatouille? I think you'd like it."
Jack walked over to the ball and putted it. Another miss. He furrowed his brow at Parker with a hint of a smile. "What makes you think I'd like it?"
"The hair pulling?" Parker laughed as soon as the words left his mouth. "Um, but, like, um, it's just funny. Like, the rat is really sarcastic in it. It's like, your sense of humor."
Jack's face got hot as soon as Parker answered the question. He bit his lip and nodded his head for a moment. "So if I'm Remy..." He grinned at Parker. "Is this you asking me to pull your hair?"
Parker flushed and wondered if he could have avoided this situation? There was nothing he could have said or done differently that would have prevented this, he thought. "Um, please don't ask me if I want you to pull my hair while saying you're Remy."
Jack almost doubled over from the laugh that came out of him. He used his putter as a support as he bent over laughing. "Oh my gods." Jack clutched his stomach. "Fuck," he cackled. "Oh my gods. Ow."
Parker flushed somehow hotter and pressed a hand into his cheek as he laughed, shaking his head. "Oh my God." He squeezed his eyes shut and ran a hand through his hair. "Wow, please just... ignore everything I say, ever. Thanks."
Jack shook his head. "I like the things you say." He tried to regain his composure and his breath so he could line up to take the shot. Still chuckling, Jack putted his ball into the hole and scooped it right back up into his hand. He looked at Parker, then up at his hair, then burst out laughing again.
Parker kept his hand pressed to his face as he smiled at Jack, and then groaned when he started laughing again, though he joined him soon. “Shut up! Just... ugh.”
"Sorry!" Jack tried to calm down. "Oh my gods... Wow." As Jack's breath slowed, he pulled up the bottom of his shirt to dab his eye dry and blot under the edges of his eye patch. "Sorry, wow. That was..." He smiled at Parker. "Okay. Hair pulling. Got it."
“Ugh.” Parker rolled his eyes but didn’t deny it as he grinned, leading them to the next hole. “Your much-awaited windmill. Do you want to go first?”
"Sure," Jack shrugged. "I think I get how it works now." Jack lined up his shot and gave a solid putt, sending the ball halfway down the grain. Jack stepped off the tee and gestured for Parker to take his turn. "Mr. Linguini."
Parker groaned dramatically. “You’re...” He shook his head. “I’m never gonna live that down, huh? And you’re the one who called himself a rat!”
"I think you'll live it right up until the next time you say something equally incredible," Jack speculated. "I still think about Yeast Man."
Parker rubbed his cheek and wondered how he could still speak with how far his foot was shoved into his mouth every time he opened it. “You’re... annoying.” He was still grinning. He put down the ball, shot, and frowned as it bounced back after hitting against the windmill. “You’re up, Bacteria Boy.”
Jack made his way over to his ball and gave it another putt towards the hole without really thinking about it. The ball clinked as it sunk into the hole. Jack threw an arm up. "Oh my gods! Plus two for Bacteria Boy!" He sauntered over to Parker with a huge grin on his face. "Eat my bacteria, bitch."
Parker leaned on his putter as Jack walked over, and bit his lip as he smiled at him. “You’re... Cute.” He tapped Jack’s shin with his putter. “Especially since you think this means you have a chance. I’m still gonna destroy you.”
"I'll believe it when I see it," Jack taunted, tapping Parker's butt with the handle end of his putter. "Good luck."
Parker’s eyes glinted, the competition taking priority over flirting. He watched the windmill turn a few times, tapped his ball, and timed it so that it streaked past the blades and into the hole. “Ha! You eat my bacteria. Bitch,” he added as an afterthought.
Jack rested his head in his hand, watching Parker sink his shot. He shook his head, smiling. "Eat your yeast?" Jack made his way to the next hole, eager to play now that he felt like he had some actual momentum going.
“Ew.” Parker snorted as he followed after Jack. “This is one of the tube ones,” he said excitedly. There were three holes this time, and each one led to a different place, one being straight into the end hole, the other two slightly further away. “I’ll start!” He put his ball down and shot. The ball bounced around the green, careening straight past the hole that led to the end, and into one of the other tubes. “Hm.”
Watching Parker's ball sail past one hole and into another—spitting out at a non ideal location—Jack just nodded his head. "Okay," he mumbled as he took his place on the tee. Jack made a line in the air with his putter from his ball to the desired hole before putting. Then, Jack watched as his ball sunk into the tube, spat back out further downhill, and roll straight into the cup. Jack turned to Parker, mouth agape. "Eat. My. Fucking. Germs. Parker."
Parker watched as Jack’s ball went exactly where it was supposed to and touched his tongue to his teeth as he shook his head, smiling. “Whatever. I’m still beating you.” He poked a finger into Jack’s chest before scampering down to where his ball was. He tapped it lightly and it stopped about an inch away from the hole. He let out a frustrated breath and tapped it again, then pulled it from the cup.
"Uh-huh," Jack taunted as he watched Parker miss his shot. "Um... I'm basing my decision to date you again entirely on your performance tonight. So..." Jack tapped his putter against Parker's shoe with a smile.
"You know, that's not the first time I've heard that." Parker laughed. "And I've always gotten a second date."
Somehow, Jack was the one turning pink. He nudged his shoulder against Parker's as he passed him and headed toward the next hole. "I like the confidence."
Parker followed Jack with a spring in his step. “Thanks. Does it add to the performance for you?” He raised his eyebrows before dropping his ball on the next green. “Ugh, this one is my least favorite. You have to make sure it doesn’t get in the water.” There was a narrow bridge leading straight for the hole, and then larger passes over the sides. Parker considered his options and what Jack had just said about liking his confidence. He lined up a shot and sent the ball halfway across the narrow pass before it tipped over and fell into the water. “Shoot.” He ran over and reached in to fish it out, then shook the water from his hand. “Well...” He shrugged.
"It helps," Jack remarked. He surveyed the course as Parker lined up for his shot. It looked promising up until the ball swerved off the edge of the bridge. "What does it mean if it falls in the water?"
Parker shook his head. “It counts as a hit, but I have to start from where I last hit it.”
Jack nodded and lined up his shot. "Okay." He wasn't sure whether to take it down the center or to the sides and didn't quite make up his mind before he hit the ball. Jack watched as it rolled across the green and straight into the water. "Well..." Jack grinned and looked over at Parker as he went to pick up the ball. "This feels right."
Parker smiled and tapped his golf ball to Jack’s. “Cheers.” He dropped the ball and nodded. “Well, middle or bust, right?” He hit the ball hard, sending it straight into the water. “Hmm.”
Jack laughed as Parker confidently sent his ball into the water. "Ugh, oh my gods, I might be here all night." Jack lined up his ball at the tee once more. This time, trying to be more aggressive with his swing, he wound the club back a bit further before taking his shot. Jack swung his putter with gusto, missing the ball entirely and then sending it flying backwards on the rebound. "Oh my fucking gods—" Jack cackled, watching his ball bounced onto a different green.
Jack looked both ways before crossing the small boundary to retrieve his ball. "Sorry," Jack apologized to a small child as he reached around them to grab the ball. "I'm just—" As Jack picked up the ball, giving a little small to the kid, the kid gasped audibly. "Oh no—" Before Jack could get out another word, the child let out a wailing scream and sprinted in a different direction. Jack, dipping his head, walked back towards his hole without saying another word.
Parker laughed as Jack sent his ball backwards. “Right attitude, wrong direction!” He crouched to pluck his ball out of the water, but his head shot up as he heard a scream. He frowned and tilted his head as Jack returned. “What happened? Are you okay?”
Jack shrugged, trying to hold a smile. “Uh, yeah. Just, uh... Freaked a kid out, I guess.” He shook his head and put the ball back on the tee. “Not a big deal. I’ll just—or sorry, it’s your turn, right? Let’s just—“ Jack scratched his head and pointed at the tee with his putter. “Yeah.”
Parker ran a hand through his hair and nodded, not wanting to push anything. He dropped the ball to the ground and swung, finally managing to make it over the small bridge, just barely. "Ugh, finally. Acai bowls are gonna be your second favorite food after how many of my germs you eat."
Jack mustered up a smile. "Didn't know we were gonna be having dinner on this date," he joked feebly. Jack lined up to putt again. A swing. A miss. Jack watched as the ball, clipped by the corner of the putter, rolled an entire three inches away before slowing to a stop. He closed his eyes and exhaled a laugh. "I... Suck."
Parker pressed his lips together to keep from laughing. "At least you hit it forward this time?" He tapped his ball and get it into the cup with a satisfying noise. He held his putter out towards Jack. "If you want, I can do that cute thing where I wrap my arms around you and show you how to line up a shot and then you can gush about how sporty I am."
Jack smiled and sighed in relief. "I was afraid that I was gonna have to be the one to ask." Jack stepped forward a bit and gestured to the space beside him. "Please."
Parker grinned, happy that Jack agreed and didn't leave him feeling like a jerk. He walked around the water, put his putter down, and wrapped his arms around Jack easily. He was always somewhat surprised about how small Jack was when he was this close to him. His hands met the plastic of Jack's gloves and his heart raced as he lined up the shot. "Okay, we're still going for middle or bust, obviously." He helped Jack swing, sighing in relief when the ball rolled smoothly over the narrow path, stopping close to the cup. "Oh, thank God," he said under his breath. He pressed a kiss to Jack's shoulder before he pulled away, smiling. He pointed to himself. "Jock."
Jack hoped that Parker wasn't actually trying to teach him anything in earnest, because all he could focus on was how firm Parker's arms felt against his. Jack cheered quietly when the ball sank into the whole, but his voice quickly rose into a crack when he felt Parker plant a kiss on his shoulder. Face thoroughly flushed, Jack laughed at Parker's assertion. "Jacques," Jack responded, pointing to himself. "I finally got it a few minutes ago but didn't know how to bring it up again."
Parker tossed his head back as he laughed and moved to grab his golf club again. “Oh, I thought you didn’t find it funny.” He leaned back on his putter and smiled at Jack. “Now you can gush about how sporty I am.”
Jack snorted. "Oh my gods, you're so sporty," he droned. "Do me in the locker room." Jack smirked in Parker's direction as he went to grab his ball. "We can be that jock quarterback and depressed gay kid trope in all the indie movies."
Parker laughed more, but couldn’t help but bask in the compliments, even if they were delivered sarcastically and at his own request. “My dream come true. Better than...” He shook his head and put his putter over his shoulder. “Ready for the next hole? I won’t help you cheat on the next one.”
"Are you sure? Because I don't think I totally got that swing, you might have to show me again," Jack chided as he stood beside the next tee.
Parker snickered and tapped the back of Jack's leg with his club. "I don't trust you. You're pretending you're being flirty when you're really just trying to beat me."
Jack scoffed. "I can't believe you think that I'd have to pretend to flirt. I'm literally never not flirting with you, Parker. Do you know me at all?" Jack shook his head and teed his ball. "Disgusting." Jack took his shot and watched his ball land a respectable distance from the hole.
Parker rested his hand on his cheek. “Ugh, whatever.” He dipped his head and hit the ball, sending it just slightly ahead of Jack’s. “So you were being actually flirty while also trying to get me to win for you.”
"Yeah, duh," Jack explained as he walked over to take his next shot. "I mean, if you help me win, it's almost like you still won, so it's kind of a win-win." Jack took his shot and the ball fell into the hole. Jack shrugged. "Just saying."
Parker rolled his eyes, still smiling. He rubbed his jaw and took his shot, getting the ball in after Jack. "Fine." He tapped his putter against Jack's shoe. "You've convinced me. I'll win for the both of us and then do you in the locker room." Even using the words Jack had didn't stop Parker from flushing slightly, and he tipped his head back so he wouldn't have to see Jack laugh at him. He turned to walk to the next green. "I think we're almost through the course. We've been doing pretty well, actually," he said as he checked the sheet of paper he was keeping track of their scores on.
Jack's laughter was diluted with a rush of nerves (hope?) that Parker was being serious. He followed Parker to the next green and peeked over at the piece of paper. "Who's winning?"
Parker moved the paper so that Jack could see it as well. “You have sixteen, and I have thirteen, so me.”
Jack snatched the piece of paper away from Parker and replaced it with his hand. "Okay, but barely. I'm like, a very close runner up."
Parker let Jack take it and smirked. "Second place is also last place when there's only two people."
"I guess that puts you second to last." Jack lifted up their hands to kiss his own thumb before letting go so that he could make his putt. The ball rolled across the green straight into a carpeted 'sand' trap. "Ugh."
Parker laughed and ducked his head, rubbing his cheek. "I guess so." He snorted at Jack's attempt and stepped up as though to show him exactly how to execute the shot perfectly. He hit the ball in an almost identical way to Jack, ending up in the same trap, then rubbed the back of his neck. "Hm. This is a harder one."
Jack's knees gave way as he cackled. "Oh yeah?" He walked over to see where Parker's ball had landed and laughed again. "Wow. Look at this skill. I'm so turned on right now."
"Shut up." Parker laughed and shook his head as he walked over to meet Jack. "I haven't done this in a while. It's intentionally tricky."
"I can tell." Jack stood in the sand trap and chipped the ball out. The ball bounced onto the green and rolled two feet from the hole. "See that?" Jack smirked. "Jacques."
Parker rolled his eyes and sent the ball out of the trap and closer to Jack's. "I transferred all my skill to you when I showed you how to do it." He reached out to poke Jack's arm. "Are you sure you can't control the wind?"
"Does this answer your question?" Jack sidled up to his ball and gave it a firm putt toward the hole. The ball stopped short two inches away. "Ugh. It was cuter in my head when the ball actually went in.
Parker smiled. "It was still cute."
Jack just tapped the ball into the hole with his putter before picking it up and walking over to Parker so he could take his turn. As he passed Parker, Jack pecked a kiss onto Parker's shoulder. "Good luck." In the distance, Jack thought he saw somebody pointing in his direction, but he chose to ignore it.
Parker poked Jack’s side this time, grinning as he pressed his shoulder into his cheek. “Thanks, not that I need it.” He tapped the ball lightly and pumped his fist as he watched it drop into the cup. “It would’ve been pretty funny if I missed it there.”
Jack smiled anyway. As he walked over to the next hole, Jack got a clearer view of a family in the distance, definitely staring and pointing at him. Jack turned his head away and dropped his ball on the tee, grumbling quietly.
“Good thing I’m too good to.” Parker walked after Jack, and turned his head, frowning as he saw the people staring at them. He turned away and rubbed his cheek.
Jack took his shot without thinking too much about it. The ball stopped respectably close to the hole, but Jack didn't seem too excited, his mind preoccupied with something else. "You're up."
Parker shot and the ball looped around Jack’s, landing in the cup. He smiled and didn’t look behind him again as he tapped Jack’s wrist with the handle of his putter. “Did you ever play that game where you had to spell out a word and then the other person had to guess what word you were spelling?” Parker blinked, realizing he explained it wrong. “Like, you spell out the word by tracing it onto somebody. And then they have to guess what you’re writing on them.”
Jack shook his head. "Sounds like a tough game to play for a dyslexic person," he joked. "Is it fun?"
"Yeah, kinda. I typically would tap out after like, four letters." Parker shrugged. "It could depend on who you play with."
Jack made his way over to his ball. "Where do you draw the word? Like, where on the body?" He lined up to take his shot.
Parker quickly ran over when he remembered that he didn't already take his own ball out of the cup. "Um, could be anywhere? I think on the back mostly, so they can't watch you do it."
Jack waited until Parker was out of the way to make his shot. A narrow miss. "Ugh. That sounds like a cute game though. You could write little messages on someone's back." Jack scribbled in the air, "'You're cute.' 'I like you.' 'End my suffering.' Stuff like that." Jack tapped the ball into the hole with his putter then plucked it out of the cup.
Parker exhaled a laugh. “I think that’s the point of it. You can be like ‘hi’ or ‘eat my fucking germs’ or ‘pull my hair’.” He smirked and looked away from Jack. “I think the last the next one is the last one, and then we can figure out how badly I beat you,” he said as he walked them to the next green.
Jack smiled, resisting the urge to just reach out and spell out any of those things across Parker's back with his tongue. "Ugh, great." Jack looked ahead to the final hole. "Ah, the clown mouth." As they stepped up to the tee, Jack was greeted by an oversized clown head with a ramp leading up to the back of its throat. Jack frowned. "This is some gay shit."
Parker laughed, shaking his head at the clown. "What's gay about two guys trying to get balls into a clown's mouth?"
Jack snickered. "Just stand five feet away from me while we do it." Jack lined up his shot and putted the ball straight up the bridge into the clown's mouth. He walked over to pick it up and noticed that the back of the clown's mouth was some dark abyss. "Oh... Is that it? He just... Eats it?"
Parker grinned and brought his putter up as though to measure out the distance between himself and Jack, taking a step back. He nodded and stepped up, dropping his ball onto the tee. “Uh, yeah, I think it returns the balls to where they’re stored. But you got a hole in one! Finish strong.” He smiled and took the shot, but his face fell slightly as it just bounced off of the clown’s tongue. “Uh, unlike that.”
Jack laughed. "Uh, well you've got like, ten tries left before I catch up to you, so... Literally zero pressure." He stepped in toward Parker and leaned onto his putter like a cane.
“Well there’s some pressure. If I take ten tries you’ll never want to speak to me again because I suggested doing something I’m bad at.” Parker rested his hand on his cheek and stuck out his lip in a pout. “You might need to blow me a kiss, for luck.”
Jack laughed and dropped his head. He pulled off a glove, held it up to Parker's cheek, and planted a kiss right over it. Then, holding it by one end, Jack playfully smacked Parker's cheek with the plastic glove. "Good luck."
Parker waited patiently as Jack complied, and brought his fingers up to his cheek when Jack smacked him. "Hey!" He laughed and pressed his lips together as he took his shot and willed the ball to go where it was supposed to. As it disappeared into the mouth void, he turned to Jack, beaming. "I win."
Jack gave Parker an unimpressed smile. "Okay, but you were always going to beat me anyway." He slipped his glove back on and reached out for Parker's hand. "Sorry I don't have a prize for you."
Parker folded up the score sheet and put it in his pocket before he took Jack’s hand. He rested his putter on his shoulder and sighed, though he couldn’t bring himself to frown. “I’ll let it slide, for now.”
The smile on Jack's fell quickly when he turned toward the exit and saw a woman walking up toward them. "Fuck," he whispered under his breath, trying to avoid her gaze. "Excuse me," the stranger called out sternly. "Did one of you say something to my daughter?"
Parker put his putter down in the return basket and only glanced at the woman for a moment before he shook his head. He forced himself not to let go of Jack’s hand. “Um, sorry, no. We’re actually just leaving too so...”
Jack kept his head down as the woman continued on, her voice rising. "Okay, well she's not crying for nothing. So why don't—" "It was me," Jack piped up. He lifted his head to look at the woman straight on, noticing her whole body flinch when she took in his scar. "My ball rolled onto the other course and I went to go pick it up. I guess your daughter was afraid of my face."
Parker raised his eyebrows at the woman and took a moment to think about what Kieran might say in a situation like this. "I believe that your time might be better spent comforting your child or teaching them manners, rather than haranguing strangers before they leave the park," he said sternly, giving Jack's hand a quick squeeze before he tried to pull him away. "Let's go."
Jack followed Parker's lead and started toward the exit, but not without first seeing the woman's face turn completely red. "I'm—I am so sorry, I didn't know," she blubbered. Jack pressed his lips together to hide his smile. As they stepped off the greens, Jack heard a splash coming from behind them. He turned around to see that the woman had tripped and falling into the artificial river where they had sunk so many shots. Jack clutched Parker's arm with his free hand, trying his hardest not to bust out in laughter. "Oh my fucking gods," he exhaled.
Parker didn’t pay the woman any mind as she apologized, scowling to himself about the entire interaction. He clenched his jaw and turned when he heard a splash, then shook his head and pressed a hand to his forehead as he watched the woman flounder and pull herself out of the water. “Jesus,” he said under his breath as she wailed along with her child. He turned to Jack and shook his head again, smile slowly appearing on his face once more. He ran a hand through his hair. “Oh my... wow. That was...” He couldn’t help himself and started laughing.
Jack turned in toward Parker, unable to stop himself from laughing along. "Wow. She..." He trailed off, too caught up in his fit of giggles. Jack clasped both his hands around Parker's. He bit his lip and focused on Parker's smile for a moment before shaking his head. "Uh, thanks. For sticking up for me."
Parker took a moment to compose himself, and then laughed again before he caught his breath fully. He pressed his cheek into his shoulder and smiled up at Jack. "What else would I do?" He grinned, then started laughing again. "Wow, a book club is gonna get an earful about me shoving that woman into a pond on a mini golf course."
Jack shut his eyes and laughed, squeezing Parker's hand. He peeked over his shoulder to see the woman dripping wet in front of her howling children. "Um, we should probably go before she comes over here and accuses you of assault."
Parker let out another small laugh and brought his hand up to kiss Jack through his glove. "Yeah, let's go." He turned fully now and started back to the car.
Jack followed Parker back to the car in a dreamlike state. He tried his hardest not to stare at Parker the whole time, but failed a few times along the way. Jack didn't realize how alluring it was to have his crush stand up for him against a bully, but he could definitely get used to it. Once they got back to the car, Jack leaned over and kissed Parker's shoulder before letting go to climb in.
Parker had to resist the urge to kiss Jack’s head while it was right there, but grinned at him as he get into the car. He tapped out a happy tune into the roof of the car before getting in himself. He buckled in and pulled out of where they were parked. “Do you like mini golf now?”
Jack clicked his seatbelt in and tipped his head back to smile at Parker. "I like you," he joked. "But I guess the mini golf was pretty fun too."
Parker smiled back at Jack before moving his eyes back to the road. "I think mini golf was more fun with you."
Flushing pink, Jack reached across to squeeze Parker's shoulder. He bit his lip for a moment then looked away. "Uh, remember how there was I thing I was gonna ask you earlier?" Jack asked meekly, his smile audible in his voice.
Parker glanced at Jack for half a second. "Yeah?"
"Ugh," Jack ran a hand over his face, turning an even deeper red. "I can't believe I'm telling you this but I don't know when I'll get the chance again, so..." He looked over at Parker. "I've always wanted to do that cheesy movie thing where you roll down your windows and blast some 80's anthem and just like... Drive away from the camera."
Parker laughed and fumbled around to see if there was anything for Jack to plug his phone into. "Um, go ahead!" He grinned. "Who are you putting on?"
Jack fished around for a cord for a bit then plugged his phone in once he found one. "Um... I only really know the Breakfast Club song," Jack confessed. "Or like... So Emotional."
Parker tapped the steering wheel with one hand. "Play So Emotional! I love Whitney Houston."
Jack wasn't sure why he found Parker's enthusiasm so funny, but he laughed anyway. "Sure," he replied, tapping on the song. Jack turned up the volume dial until the intro percussion was vibrating in his seat, then rolled down his window. Right on time with the music, Jack called out, "I don't know why I like it... I just do!"
Parker rolled his window down as well, grinning widely as he glanced at the GPS and turned. "I think this is great! I... This is great!"
Jack laughed along, still bopping to the music. He turned to watch Parker drive as Whitney nailed the verse. Jack couldn’t resist reaching over and brushing his fingers over Parker’s cheek before resting his hand on Parker’s shoulder. “See I remember the way we touched,” Jack sang along. “I wish I didn’t like it so muuuch!”
Parker struggled to focus on the road. "I get so emotional baby!" He laughed as he sang along. "Every time I think of you!" He didn't point at Jack because he was driving and regretted every moment of it.
Jack kept on singing, his gaze switching back and forth between Parker and the road. There were several things that Jack wanted to do in the moment but all of them carried the risk of crashing, and so Jack just sat back and let the moment wash over every inch of his being.

THERE ARE IMAGES IN THIS FIC THAT ARE ESSENTIAL TO THE STORY.
Chapter 9
The Chinese mission had taken a week to clean up in the end. HYDRA had been relatively easy to track down. It was more the legal stuff that kept there the whole week. A week wasn’t so bad in the end. Especially when he was able to text you every day.
Even more so when the texts had turned sexual on two more of those times. He had surprised himself really. He knew about sexting before. It just had never sounded like something he would really be in to. After that first time, he realized he liked it. A lot. He initiated those two times. Asking what you were wearing. What you would do with him if he was there.
What really stuck with him wasn’t so much how sexy it was or how hot it felt doing it. It wasn't how hard it made him thinking about you doing the things in your messages. Nor how when he came he gasped your name. It was that you made him feel comfortable enough to do that. That speaking to you not only did he desire you but you got him out of his head enough that he didn’t feel foolish saying those things to you.
All the things he thought he needed to be perfect to say the words and make the move were unnecessary. He didn’t need a weekend away and a fancy meal. He just needed you there with him. Maybe it would never be completely perfect, but at the same time, it would exactly right because it was you. For him, you were perfect.
He decided that he was just going to go and see you as soon as he got home and tell you he loved you. He’d waited long enough.
The flight home was long even with the fact it was via the Quinjet. They arrived by mid-morning, exhausted but needing to debrief and file paperwork. Before they assembled in the conference room, Steve had to message you to let you know he was safe and more importantly that he needed to see you.
Your message came through at the same time as he sent his. It startled him a little but a broad smile broke out on his face. He loved how you were thinking the same thing as he was. He imagined a time in the future where that wouldn’t even be said. He would finish his debrief and come straight home to you.
He thought about it for a moment. Taking you out to a nice restaurant and saying the words to you felt like a nice thing to do on paper. It wasn’t the relationship you’d grown together though. It wasn’t what the liked most about being with you. Besides he had eaten out for every meal this week and a home cooked meal sounded like heaven.
A very quick series of comfort foods flashed through his mind. His mom’s meatloaf. Potatoes, roasted and mashed. Mac and Cheese. Pizza. Pasta. Freshly baked bread. He wasn’t sure what exactly to ask for, but there did seem to be a theme.
You didn’t answer for a bit so he assumed work had come up. He was just putting it in his pocket when it buzzed again.
He smiled. He had missed you too. It was strange though. That feeling was normally associated with such dark things. He missed his mother. Peggy. The Howlies. He had missed Bucky. There were some days he stilled missed him. At least the person he had used to be. Not that he wasn't thankful every day he’d come back. Still that feeling of melancholy over the things they had lost would hit from time to time. Missing you was different. You were here waiting and there was almost an excitement to the feeling. He missed you and soon he would be with you.
He put his phone away and headed into the conference room. Thankfully it was relatively brief. Everyone ran through the chain of events as they saw it. They assessed if there were any mistakes made or areas they could be more efficient. Appointments were made with therapists. They had become mandatory at least after missions and had been helpful to the team, to say the least. After that, he had run through things again with Maria. Each filling the other in on loose ends regarding the mission.
Finally, after all that was done, he went and had a shower. He stayed under the hot water for a while and let it wash off everything from the past week. As the hot water relaxed his tense muscles he consciously let go of Captain America, so that he could come to you just as Steve with none of his baggage.
After his shower he put on some jeans and a white shirt, shrugging his leather jacket on over it. He grabbed a couple of condoms from his bathroom and slipped them in his pocket. He wouldn’t be disappointed if you didn’t want to have sex yet, but if you wanted it, he wanted to be ready. He was ready after all.
While he was on the subway to your place he was asked to take photos and chatted with a few people on the way. There were days where that got to him. Not today though. He took it all in his stride.
When he arrived, you buzzed him up and he took the stairs two at a time to get up to your apartment. As soon as he saw you he couldn’t help but smile. You were dancing on your toes and you grinned, rushed over to him and launched yourself into his waiting arms. He caught you without thinking, and spun you. His lips crashed into yours and he kissed you hungrily. He loved you, and needed you, and wanted you. He had missed you and worried about you. All of that he poured into that kiss.
He pulled back gently and leaned his forehead against yours, breathing in the scent of you. “I need to tell you something.” He whispered.
“Me too.” You replied.
“I love you.”
You spoke the words as one. It startled him for a moment. He couldn’t ever remember being so fully on the same page as another person. He smiled softly and kissed you. This was the moment. He needed you. He had made you wait far too long and he wouldn’t do it any longer. He lifted you up and you let out a surprised yelp. When your legs were wrapped around his waist he carried you inside, kicking the door closed behind him.
When he reached the bedroom he let you down on the bed and caressed your cheek. “Is this okay?” He asked.
“If this is the moment, it’s perfect, Steve.”
It felt like his heart was about to burst with the love he had for you. There was no need to rush this. It had taken so long to get to this point, now he was here with you, he could take his time. Make it count. He leaned in and kissed you. Tenderly and slowly. Savoring the feel of your lips against his.
He ran his hands up your side and cupped your breast as you unfastened his pants. His cock was hardening already just from the kiss. When you began to stroke it up and down it sent a shiver through him, and he moaned softly against your lips.
He pulled back, taking his shirt off and tossing it aside and as he did you ran your tongue up his shaft. The wet warm pressure of your tongue on his cock made it jump and he groaned, his hands going to your hair without him even thinking about it. When you wrapped your lips around the head of his cock, his abs tightened and he let out a guttural groan. It had been a while since he had been with anyone, and he forgot how good it felt. The intimacy alone was something he missed, but the way your mouth felt, the pressure it gave sent sparks through him. He groaned. Deep and guttural. As he did you dropped your head down, deep throating him.
He kept his eyes on you, watching you as your bobbed up and down on his cock. Making yourself gag and then pulling back sucking hard. He couldn’t keep quiet. It was like a lump of hot coal had been dropped into his gut and was pushing down on him. Every move you made sent tendrils of pleasure through him. The way you looked with your lips wrapped around his cock was so sexy to him.
As he relaxed more into the sensation his hands began to roam. He stroked your jaw and ran them down your neck to your chest. He cupped your breasts and as you moaned in pleasure, he gained more confidence. He massaged them and teased your nipples.
He could feel himself being drawn closer to the edge of climax and he put his hands on your jaw and pulled back, before leaning down and kissing you deeply. “My turn,” He said and pulled your dress up over your head.
You smiled up at him and he took a moment to drink you in before bringing his lips to yours. Without breaking the kiss he guided you back on the bed. He ground down against you. His cock pressing against your pussy through your panties. The wetness from your arousal had seeped through the fabric and he could feel it against his cock. It made the need to taste you stronger. He began crawling down your body, kissing a trail as he went. He paused for a moment at your breasts, nipping at your nipples through the fabric. Loving the way they hardened for him. He didn’t linger though. The thought of his mouth on your pussy called to him. As he moved lower he pulled your panties off and tossed them aside. The smell of your cunt was inviting him in. He ran the tip of his nose up your pussy, inhaling deeply. It made his cock jump and he needed to taste you. His tongue flicked out, just sampling the tart flavor of you before he flattened his tongue and ran it up the length of your folds.
You hummed and raised your hips to meet him and he smiled and swirled the point of his tongue over your clit. He loved how you tasted. Acidic and salty sweet. It reminded him of fruit and being by the seaside. He started to lap at you, trying to drink up all he could get. Your hips bucked under him and you moaned. “Oh, god, yes, Steve.”
That only made him want more. The little positive feedback like he was on the right track, that you wanted this as much as he did spurred him on. His cock ached to be inside you but all he could focus on was using his mouth. He hummed and pushed two fingers inside of you, curling them and spreading them inside of you. Drawing out more of your fluids that he drank up hungrily. When he twisted his wrist you gasped and he felt your body shudder around him. He focused on the spot his knuckles had touched and began stroking it with the pads of his fingers, dragging them over the spongy spot inside you as he sucked on your clit.
It was like you lost all control. Your hips bucked and you cried out. He kept going, groaning as your pussy squeezed his fingers and your cunt dripped down his wrist. With a sudden cry, your whole body seized and arched up under him. He continued to stroke you, slowing his movements and drinking you up.
When he felt your body settle he climbed back up your body and pulled a condom out of his pocket.
“This is what you were coming for, huh?” You teased.
He could feel the heat rise to his cheeks and he nuzzled into your neck feeling sheepish. “Not for. Just… hoped it would lead to it.”
You put your hands on his jaw and guided him back up so he was looking into your eyes. “I hoped so too.”
It was what he needed to ground himself. He kissed you again and tried to get the condom packet open. He fumbled for a moment before you took it off him and nudged him to roll over. He smiled taking the hint and grabbed your hips rolling you both over so you were straddling his lap.
He ran his hands over your bare skin, taking the time to appreciate how you looked as you tore open the packet. Your skin glistening with sweat and your hair messy. “God, you’re beautiful.” He sighed.
You bit your bottom lip and rolled the condom down over his cock. “You aren’t too bad yourself, Rogers.”
He laughed reaching up and pulling you down into a kiss as his hands bunched into your hair. As he kissed you deeply, you slowly lowered yourself down on his cock. He let you take your time. Relishing in the way your cunt, stretched and squeezed to accommodate his girth.
When you began to move he moaned into the kiss. Each slow rise and fall of your body on squeezing and releasing his cock. The heat of your cunt seemed to pass from your into him and spread through his gut.
You couldn’t seem to maintain the slow movements though and soon you began to ride him hard. Sweat ran down your skin in little rivulets and for a little while he just stared transfixed with how your body looked as you moved against him.
He flipped you over and began to thrust into you, slowly and deeply as he kissed you. His tongue skirting over the corner of your lips and dipping into your mouth. He could feel his climax nearing. His cock throbbed and his balls tightened as it bore down on him.
“Oh god, Steve.” You whimpered. “You feel so good.”
“You do too, sweetheart.” He whispered.
Your cunt began to pulse around his cock, feeling almost like you were trying to milk it with your cunt. He groaned low and deep, trying to keep going so you could come before he did.
You brought your lips close to his ear so he could feel your breath tickle his skin. “I’m so close.”
“I’m right there with you.” He growled.
You began to finger your clit and with a loud cry, you came. Your cunt squeezed tight on his cock and he groaned, his hips jerking hard into you and coming with you.
He kissed you again, keeping his cock buried inside you as your bodies stilled. He liked how it felt as your lips slowly caressed each other’s to be connected like that.
Eventually, he rolled from on top of you and tossed the condom away. You curled up against him. “I’m glad you’re back.” You said, trailing your finger over his chest.
“That good was it?” He teased.
You laughed and hit him. “Smart ass.”
He leaned over and kissed you. “I liked it too. It was time.”
“Yeah. It was.” You hummed. “I love you, Steve. I’m sorry I didn’t say it sooner.”
“I love you too. It’s been said.” He said. “Now we see the path it takes us.” He was excited to find out. He could see everything for the two of you. Marriage, kids. A home together. A family. All because he let Sam talk him into Swiping Right.

REQUEST || MASTERLIST || TAG LIST IS STILL OPEN
10:30PM
You were supposed to finish work thirty minutes ago but your boss made you stay back to finish off a few documents. Unlocking your front door you sighed at the sight of Kyle, your boyfriend’s clothes lying everywhere on the living room floor.
As you bent down to pick up his shirt, you noticed a red lacy bra hanging just off the brim of the lamp you bought the other week for side table. You swore you didn’t leave a bra around and you swore that wasn’t there this morning before you left for work.
Loud shuffling and banging could be heard from the bedroom you shared with Kyle. You walked towards up the stairs slowly. Your footsteps creaked within each step you took. It could’ve been heard from anywhere in the house but the shuffling and banging did not stop. As you were approaching the last step at the top of the stairs you noticed another lacy number, one very similar to the hanging bra downstairs.
The shuffling and banging continued. You walked slowly towards the bedroom feeling your heart pounding against your chest in fear and anticipation. As you approached the bedroom door, you could hear loud moans from the room. You instantly recognised the voice and knew it was from Kyle, but one thing you couldn’t put your finger on was the second voice that you could faintly hear.
Putting your hand on the cold door handle, you slowly turned the knob and was instantly wished you didn’t.
“Kyle.” A soft feminine voice spread throughout the room as you watched your boyfriend thrust into the girl whom you could see gripping the bed sheets…your bed sheets.
Tears started to form in your eyes as the scene come upon you. Kyle and his well..company were too occupied to notice your appearance. You took a step back to get away but when you did, a slight creak from the floor was heard. You snapped your head towards the two to see if the sound caught their attention and for sure it did.
“(Y-Y/N)” Kyle’s eyes widened knowing he was caught red handed. He got off the girl and put on a pair of boxes he found on the ground.
“I-It’s not what it looks like!” He stuttered. You rolled your eyes at the common used line.
“Really? Because to me it looks like you were penetrating your dick in her…in pleasure by the looks and sound of it. So do tell me Kyle, tell me what exactly does it look like to you?” You fought back the tears that were on the edge of pouring.
Kyle walked towards you but you took a step back not wanting to be near him. You couldn’t bare to look at your now ex-boyfriend as it would remind you of what you saw, and angrily laughed at the situation as you wiped the tears that were starting to slide down your face.
“I um..I’m just going to go.” The voice of the once moaning girl was heard from behind Kyle. You watched as she fumbled with her top trying to button it up, you looked at her with no emotion whatsoever but internally you wanted nothing more but punch her in the face out in hatred, sadness and frustration.
Your eyes started to wonder around the walls around you making sure your eyes did not make any contact with him.
“(Y/N..)” You closed your eyes and breathed in heavily having to hear the voice of the traitor. Not wanting to deal with him, you turned your heels and started to walk down the stairs. As you took your first step, you felt Kyle’s cold hands grip around your wrist but you quickly yanked it away from him.
“(Y/N) please! Just stop and listen to me!” Is he being serious right now? How on earth can someone be that thick? Grabbing your keys and purse off the front display table, you rapidly stormed out of the house and into your car with Kyle trailing behind you calling out your name.
Turning on your war and immediately locking the doors in case he tries to get in, despite him banging his fist against the tinted windows, you put the car in reverse and drove off as fast as possible.

12:30AM
“Another one. Something stronger please.” You ordered and watched the bartender get to work on your one too many drink.
You couldn’t bare to be near your home or your local area so you drove as far as you could before getting tired, and ended up in a pub within the city. You crossed your arms on the table and hung your head low in despair. You being too occupied in your grief didn’t notice the stranger who needed a little something to help him get through the night.
“Rough night?” You heard a low voice next to you.
Regaining your posture from your slouch, you turned towards the voice and felt your breath caught in your throat. Sitting in front of you was truly the most attractive man you have ever laid eyes on. Despite the room being dark with the slightest light, you were still able to see the piercing blue eyes that stared into yours and the features of his face. His jaw, so prominent and sharp, his stubble slowly turning into a beard and god he is truly breathtaking.
You didn’t realise you were staring when the bartender heavily placed your drink in front of you, bringing you back into reality.
Picking up your drink, you sighed remembered the whole reason of you being in the pub.
“S-something like that…” you answered his question, slurring a little whilst taking a sip of your drink that was burning your throat.
“Wanna talk about it?” The stranger asked. To be honest you wanted nothing more but just to be alone with a bottle of whisky to forget and numb everything. Despite your wishes, you needed to talk to someone. Learning from your mistakes you knew it wasn’t best to bottle it all up. You needed to talk to someone.
“I mean, if you want to that is.” He shrugged as he was starting to get the impression you did not want to talk.
“No it’s just” you sighed as the brunette raised an eyebrow waiting for you to continue,
“All I wanted was to get home from work, get into comfy clothes, watch a movie or two and cuddle with my boyfriend…” you paused.
“But?” He questioned,
“…But instead” Sighing knowing you have to continued,
“I got home from work, saw his comfy clothes on the floor and watched him with another girl.” You bit your lip while looking up at the ceiling, blinking your upcoming tears away not wanting to burst in front of the stranger. Grabbing your drink, you downed it as fast as you could hoping it would bring you numbness even though your numbed heart was enough.
The man frowned watching you drink your sorrow away.
“I just, I just want to know what did I do for him to have sex with some other girl! Was I not enough? I gave him everything. I put him first, I was always there for him but what does she have that I don’t?” You exclaimed throwing your arms up in the air.
Turning back to the bartender, you decided to order yourself another drink when suddenly the brunette stranger stopped you from your actions,
“Whoa whoa no! If anything you’re going to have a glass of water.” He placed both hands on your arms as he noticed you were starting to loose your balance.
The bartender took notice and placed a tall glass of cold water in front of you. You took the glass and chugged the water until you could feel yourself slowly sobering up and starting to get tired.
The stranger took notice of your mood and knew you needed to crash somewhere quick.
“Come on,” He wrapped your arm around his neck whilst his arm holds you around the waist hoping that it would get you to start walking.
“Where are we going?” You asked,
“I’m going to get us a cab to go back to mine. You need to get some sleep because you were about to fall back off the bar stool, plus i’m pretty sure you will be greeted with one killer hangover tomorrow morning.” He chuckled at your sleepiness while trying to move around the crowded area.
“Oh you don’t have to call a cab. I drove here.” You surprisingly to him and yourself stood straight and fished out the pair of keys that were buried in the back pocket of your jeans.
The two of you were able to find your car easily, and hoped in the front. You were only in the car for 30 seconds and you could feel your eyes starting to become heavy. You tried your best to fight the tiredness but due to the fact it was almost one in the morning, your eyes slowly rolled back into your head and soon all you could see was darkness.
///////
You jolted up, regretfully, from your sleep as you heard a loud agonising ring that came from your scheduled alarm you have put on for work. Groaning at the fact you stupidly decided to drink the night before work, you reached for your phone and turned off the alarm placing it back on the table.
You rubbed your eyes trying to gain proper eyesight but once you did, you noticed that you were in an unfamiliar room and had no memory whatsoever on getting here or even in bed. Lifting up the bedsheets you heavily sighed seeing that you were still in the clothes you wore last night, silently thanking yourself for deciding to wear something more formal casual than your usual office skirt and blouse.
And that’s when you realised. Work.
You were screwed and you for sure knew that. Pushing away the warm blankets, you picked up your phone from the side table and turned it on.
10:40AM
Read the time. You were already late for work and honestly, you did not want to deal with your boss lecturing you about being on time or doing your job right especially with the killer headache you woke up too.
Gently flopping down back into the unfamiliar kingsized bed, you buried your face into the pillow and groaned at the memory of last night’s incident of your cheating ex-boyfriend and the stranger who watched you drown yourself in toxic.
You were once again too busy in your own little world to notice the same stranger from last night standing at the door,
“I see you’re finally up.”
You lifted your head and saw him standing there holding a tray with that seemed like breakfast.
“Mhmm.” You hummed not having the effort to use your voice, and heard him softly chuckling at your manner.
“Well, I made you breakfast. Not sure what you wanted but knew you need greasy food so I got you scrambled eggs, bacon, hashbrowns along with orange juice and advil to help with the hangover.”
He walked towards you and placed the wooden tray in front of you. You took in the sight in front of you and picked up a piece of bacon. Taking a bite, you groaned at the flavoursome but mainly of course the feeling of it starting to help with your morning sickness.
Placing the bacon down back on the plate and wiping your hands with a napkin. You moved the tray to the side for a moment and faced the man who till this moment do not know his name.
“Thank you.” You smiled at him,
“You’re welcome. You looked like you needed someone to be there for you and I decided to help out a little.” He smiled back at you,
“No really, thank you so much. For all of this, you didn’t need to take me in for the night and heck even feed me! I mean look at this, it looks and taste amazing. How can I ever repay you?” You exclaimed. You felt as if you were forever in debt.
“No don’t worry about repaying me. I wanted to do this.” He replied. You reached forward and wrapped your arms around his neck. The brunette stranger didn’t move as he wasn’t expecting your actions, but slowly wrapped his arms around your waist and hugged you back but was the first one to pull away.
“Now I have to go to the gym, but you are more than welcome to stay to finish your breakfast but also take a shower, watch tv and if you want…you can wait till I come back and we could do something if you’re up for it?”
Shocked. You were truly shocked. Your eyes widened at the fact he still wants to be around you after you embarrassed yourself last night?
“Uhh yeah okay. That um, that sounds like a plan.” You replied as he smiled.
“Great! Okay so I will be back in maybe an hour or maybe a little bit later than that?” He said as he reached the door.
“Sounds good. See you then!” You shouted softly. You watched as he was about to leave the room when you remembered,
“Wait!” You shouted louder this time. He turned around and raised his eyebrow at you,
“I didn’t catch your name?” You asked,
“You didn’t ask.” He snarkily replied. Playfully rolling your eyes laughing at his comment as you heard him giggle.
“I’m Sebastian. Sebastian Stan.” He said moving backwards into the hallway and ran down the stairs.
“(Y/N)!” You shouted hopefully enough for him to hear from downstairs.
“Nice to meet you (Y/N)!” You heard before the hearing the bang of the front door. Laughing to yourself at the small banter, you pulled the tray closer to you carefully not wanting to spill any juice, grabbing the piece of bacon you picked up earlier but before taking another bite you chuckled lightly to yourself before muttering,
“Sebastian Stan, you truly are something…”

Saturday 30th January
3.30 a.m. (The latest I’ve been up in years!) I sat in Starbucks as nervous as a prostitute at confession while attempting to sip my caramel macchiato as indifferently as I could. The place was bustling with tourists who seem to have been unaffected by the global downturn as they continually dripped coins into the ravenous till. Ryan was half an hour late (traditional), so I managed to work my way from an uncomfortable wooden chair to a nice, soft and fluffy couch as people vacated. I sank into the well-ridden cushion with smug satisfaction and admired the view. Edinburgh Castle hadn’t lost her beauty.
I was feeling the effects of the caffeine and becoming quite sentimental when Ryan swept in with the energy of an excited teen. His long, hairy, green and brown overcoat swept open from the speed of his entrance. He recognised me immediately and waved, beaming a Hollywood smile that would outshine any showgirl. Sadly, Tony (a.k.a. ‘Biffo’, the derogatory name given to him justifiably by harsh queens on the scene) was in tow. I stopped slouching and tensed up my stomach in a vain attempt to engage my rarely used abs.
Ryan’s hardly changed. He has no grey flecks, unlike me, and seems to have been living in Tupperware for the past decade as there’s not a crease on any part of his well-presented façade. I’d go so far as to say he looks youthful. You’d hope, after losing a boyfriend, the stress of it all would mean you’d instantly burn all that unnecessary fat, but no, my body screams for comfort food, slowly topping up the levels like a barrel attached to a drainpipe.
Ryan yelped in excitement and hugged me like a long-lost brother. ‘Andy, you look amazing!’ he said and then paused expectantly for a compliment in return.
I shushed him bashfully and said, ‘No way, but you do.’
‘I know I do,’ said my confident friend.
I neglected to compliment Tony as I just can’t lie convincingly. He’s spray-tanned so much he’s on the verge of becoming a fat satsuma. However, as we were throwing hugs around, I was obligated to give him one too, but as half-hearted as I could possibly make it (hugging Biffo is akin to embracing a turd in a wig).
I immediately wanted to trade that hug for a slap the second Tony pulled back, gawped at my face and cried, ‘Goodness, life has been rough on you, my dear. Haven’t you collected a lot of wrinkles!’ and laughed as shrill as a mad banshee.
I countermanded by saying, ‘Wrinkles? No, they’re the trademark Angus laughter lines.’
Whereupon Tony sniggered and threw another verbal grenade, ‘Well, what a family of comedians you must be.’
Cue fixed grin and stunned silence on my part.
I visualised dropkicking him through that bay window until his mangled body was tangled in the castle’s craggy rocks, but I knew this wouldn’t be a great start to rekindling a relationship I’d let slide a long time ago. Even if one of the reasons I’d let it slip was still very much the monkey on Ryan’s back. A monkey that will be backbreaking to carry as Tony has gained several pounds and is struggling to fit into his Fat Face jeans. His thinning brown hair, jug-ears, snooty nose and jutting incisors certainly fit his insulting nickname Biffo the Bear. And his lips ... I don’t remember them being that big. Collagen injections, by the look of it.
‘Moving on,’ I said. ‘Coffee?’
‘Oh, not here, cupcake. I can’t abide coffee beans that have been raped by a multimillion tax-dodging company,’ said Ryan. ‘I hope nobody saw us come in, Tony. Well, nobody that counts. We know a delightful independent place on Broughton Street that you’ll adore. Cosy and they do the best tasting Americano this side of the country. I hope no one sees us leave, either.’ He turned to a busy server filling a large tray with sloppy cups and sticky plates and asked, ‘Is there a fire escape we can use?’
‘The owner can be a bit of a cow, though,’ interrupted Tony, tartly.
I was sold. Anyone who’s a cow to Tony is a friend of mine. A bit of a walk, but I figured my potbelly and bashed ego needed a stroll. ‘Let’s go then,’ I insisted.
‘Oh, hang on,’ said Ryan, whipping out his mobile. ‘A quick celebratory selfie. Stand over there away from the branding. I won’t be tagging our location.’ The boys struck a well-rehearsed pose as he snapped the picture before I’d the chance to focus. I was gawping, my eyes half shut and I noticed a coffee drip on my shirt. It was online quicker than the time it takes to drink one shot of espresso. We left via the fire exit.

Café Jamaica, a slither of a place that you’d miss if you weren’t looking for it, is green and black on the shop front with swirly yellow flower power style lettering above the door. Cavernous inside, it gets more extensive the deeper you delve, opening out to an ample space at the rear. On the far wall, beyond a decorative fireplace, sits an intimate stage flanked with purple felt curtains. An eclectic mix of local art hangs on the walls, from picturesque scenes of Edinburgh to the abstract brushstrokes of an aggressive mind. Rainbow coloured paper lanterns hang from the ceiling, softly lighting the chilled ambience, enhanced by grand ornate mirrors dotted around the area. The whole café has a feel of homely, lived-in chaos. Not a single table or chair match in colour or style. Nag champa snaked lethargically through the space and Nina Simone’s voice echoed from somewhere deep within the shadows. It felt reassuringly geek-friendly.
As I squished comfortably into a sofa, a tall, slender, middle-aged black woman with a tower of thickly piled hair emerged from the back of the café and made her way towards us as she flirtatiously dipped into the depths of her ample bosom to remove a small notepad and pen from its clutches. Her hourglass figure was tightly caressed by a green dress that groped her in all the right places and caused her breasts to spill forward like two large, shiny chestnuts. She oozed sexual confidence. Phenomenal. If it weren’t for her sincere smile and gentle Jamaican accent, I would’ve felt intimidated.
‘Ryan, you old hound. So good to see you, what can I get you?’ she grinned. ‘And I see you’ve brought a handsome young man with you,’ she said, nodding to me and ignoring Tony. I warmed to her more.
‘This is my good friend from the West, Andy,’ said Ryan, which melted my heart instantaneously as it became apparent all those years I’d neglected our friendship seemed to bother him not one jot.
‘Andy?’ She smiled wider, ‘Andy, who?’
‘Andy Angus,’ I added, hand stretched to shake hers.
‘Oh, Andy,’ she muttered as her eyes glinted in the lamplight and gazed deep into mine. Well-manicured scarlet nails flickered as she cupped my hand in both of hers and shook it intensely, ‘It’s so good to meet such a fine, handsome, mature man.’ She raised her head proudly and announced, ‘I’m Miss Molasses Brown, queen of this fabulous establishment, where all friends, freaks and lost souls are welcome to linger.’ It felt as if I’d known her for years, such was her warmth.
‘Drinks!’ she shouted, ‘Mojitos on the house, for my dear friends. Back in three shakes.’
‘We should take you out more often,’ said Tony, glaring at Molasses as she wiggled away, ‘the old hag has never given us so much as a free after-dinner mint.’
‘Oh! Selfie!’ said Ryan, mobile at the ready.
Goggle-eyed, I said, ‘Really? But we’ve only just taken one twenty min …’
Snap and post!
We sampled delicious home-cooked recipes that blew my mind, several non-alcoholic cocktails and Molasses’s very own Rum Truffle Cake. A sober evening for me, but a most enjoyable one. We talked about their wedding, and I brushed over my defunct relationship with Thomas briefly. I imagine Tony was keen to perform a detailed autopsy, but I preoccupied the evening with them. Ryan is a window dresser for Jenners and Tony works in a G.P. surgery as a receptionist. They still live at their old flat on Leith Street, but now, instead of renting, they own it. I got most of this information from a very animated Tony. Ryan was hardly given room to breathe, so I was relieved when an early start pulled Tony out of the door around midnight. Even if I had to witness repeated, heavy petting for the next ten minutes until Ryan loosened his leash and the door shut on his saggy arse.
I could relax for the first time all evening. With Biffo gone, we were free to chat over old times, when I lived just a stone’s throw away from Ryan on London Road. Life seemed more relaxed and less complicated. I had more of the pink pound in my pocket, and the scene was new, exciting and risky. He talked about some of the older queens still doing the rounds, the ones who’d since moved on (or worse, died), and the colourful new characters he’s met since I left.
Then he asked, ‘Do you ever think of Steve?’
My heart suddenly ached. I shared the flat on London Road with Steve. He was older than us, experienced, wealthy, butch and bitchy, cheeky and damn handsome. He’d say, ‘When you hit forty, boys, there is a certain clientele that finds you fascinating. Twinks don’t turn my head, but I seem to turn theirs, and if the chap is on the right side of his twenties, then I’m willing to entertain the notion for nothing more than a night. Anything more than that is some form of relationship, and that is definitely not my china cup of tea. What would I want with a twink, anyway? They haven’t lived. They use moisturiser, for fuck’s sake, bathe in aftershave and have no idea how to fix a stop-cock. I just want a real man to rodger and take the bin bag out in the morning, is that asking for the world?’ Riotous laughter would follow, and others would turn their heads towards our usual corner of the bar. We must’ve looked like witches around a cauldron, but we were having a blast.
How could Ryan dare to bring him up? Steve was taboo. Our gang fell to pieces after he died – forty-four and cold on a slab looking a shadow of his former self. His good looks eaten away. Such a jovial, glorious mind ruined by something that could’ve been, should’ve been, treated sooner.
I hesitated some and said, ‘I think of him every day. I still blame myself; after all these years, I still do. I knew he wasn’t right. Six weeks later, he was gone. No more Friday night drinks that turned into Saturday morning breakfasts. Gone was that shameless smile, those playful moves on the dance floor and that gorgeous set of blue eyes that excused him no matter how bitchy he became.’
Ryan nodded, ‘He could charm the Crown Jewels off the Queen.’
That rock that we had clung to was now far away in the middle of a foreboding sea that could never be crossed. At least, not in this lifetime. This marked the beginning of our separation. We met through Steve, and we only knew how to function around Steve. So we clung to new rocks as quickly as we could and lost sight of each other behind the solidity of what we’d found. His funeral came fast and left us with little time to think. And before we knew it, we were toasting the man and, with a tear in our eyes and dregs in our glasses, it was time to move on. And boy, move on we did. Swiftly. Ryan to Tony, and me to Thomas. But even tonight, after all that water has flown under all those bridges, the events leading up to why we lost touch hurt.
‘Not your fault,’ consoled Ryan with a hand clasping mine. ‘Hell, I would’ve told him to shut up with his moaning, but then, I’ve never had much patience with the sick.’
‘I remember,’ I jibed. ‘When I snapped a tendon falling off the stage at Vibe, you quickly asked me to leave as I was embarrassing you. I limped towards the exit, and you continued to dance as if nothing was wrong.’
‘Oh, dear. Did I? I’m sorry about that. I must’ve been on something.’
I laughed. ‘You were on everything back then!’
Ryan chuckled, ‘Yes, I suppose you’re right. I don’t nowadays. Too old to deal with the comedowns. And who wants to have the teeth of a medieval pauper? I miss him,’ he said with his smile gone and his eyes glistening, ‘and I miss you too.’
It felt so good to be wanted again. Wanted by him. I squeezed his hand tight and told him what I should’ve told him a long time ago, ‘I miss you too. I’ve always missed you.’ It was good to feel as if someone cared once again. I didn’t want to lose that moment. God, I really have missed him. How could I have been so stupid?
‘Are the two of you hypnotised or something?’ came a familiar Jamaican accent. ‘Anyone would think you kids were in love.’
This snapped us out of our bubble.
‘Don’t be daft,’ I spluttered between breathy laughs.
As the doors to Café Jamaica were locked behind us, we wandered along the cobbles reflecting the streetlights’ pale yellow glow. Arriving at my car, we said a reluctant farewell. Ryan hugged me tightly. It was great to be close to his beating heart once more.
‘It’s fabulous to have you back in my life, my friend,’ were his parting words.
As I drove along Gorgie Road, I realised I’d finally found an old piece of me that has been forgotten, buried beneath the chaff of domesticity for far too long. Maybe, just maybe, it is possible to go back in time and start over.
The twenty-five-year-old Andy inside me had woken. He yawned and blinked at the moon as it hung large and low before me on the drive to Mum and Dad’s. I could see the silhouette of Edinburgh’s skyline in my rearview mirror, and even though I was heading in the opposite direction, Ryan, Steve and my twenty-five-year-old self were travelling alongside me and having a whale of a time.
4.35 p.m. It’s Dad’s retirement do tonight, and I’m feeling more than a little tired from my late night.

character sheet;;
Name: Toshizō Kuda, Nickname: Tosh, Shizo, Hero Alias: Creature, Pronouns: He/Him, Birthday: October 23rd, Birth Place: New York, America, would eventually move to; Tokyo, Japan: Roppongi District, Zodiac: Scorpio, Age: TBD based on Arc, but sixteen if it's the first U.A. Arc. Class: 1B, Nationality: Japanese ( mother's side ), Italian/American (father's side ), Languages: Japanese, English, Religion: Agnostic, Sexuality: Homosexual, Alignment:
Appearance: He's relatively tall in comparison to other students at U.A. being 5'9" but you wouldn't notice, mostly due to his sullen slouching. He has messy above shoulder length black hair, that partially hangs in front of his face and often, half-opened orange slightly glowing eyes. His eyes have very dark bags underneath them, looking tired and flat.
He's also quite pale and is usually recognized for his worn-out appearance, often appearing as if he just rolled out of bed ( he probably did ). His teeth are straight and pearly white, although he doesn't show them off very much and his expression is normally just as tired looking as the rest of him. His nose is longish and comes to a bit of a point and his eyebrows are somewhere in between think and thin. He has long eyelashes and his build as far as his body goes is somewhat in shape but could be more so, he does have slightly broad shoulders at any rate.
Casual clothing wise he's always wearing a pair of red converse with white laces, they're worn out and pretty dirty looking. He likes tall white socks, ripped up jeans and normally sports either a flannel shirt, tacky button up or dark washed hoodie over whatever probably horror themed shirt he's wearing.
His hero costume is a black poncho, black gloves, black bulky boots and black skinny jeans, ( smh what an emo kid ) with no mask, he's already got a skeletal head 90% of the time anyway so he doesn't think he needs one.
Personality: Toshizō has always known his Quirk was more villain than hero but even if he didn't others have always been sure to remind him. He could recall a time when his quirk first manifested in the worst of ways, after watching a particularly scary movie at a sleepover he was having, where he ended up overly scared and in a panic only for his body to break and shatter into the very creature from the movie. His friends suddenly we're no longer his friends, they screamed and cried as he stalked the living room, tearing up everything in sight.
If it wasn't for his parents waking up and realizing that was indeed their child he could have probably ended up six feet under. Needless to say nobody ever wanted to come over to that 'creature's house' anymore. This would cause two things, one, the once bubbly child in him to seemingly disappear and two, his love for something that caused all of this. The very thing he was scared of, horror. It's not like he had anything else after all.
His personality would shift from a very extroverted young boy to one that was closed off, aloof, tired and sometimes a bit sarcastic. But he still longed to be the hero he once set out to be, to control and quell the creature(s) inside of himself, to show others that he wasn't the monster arch type that wanted to destroy, but the misunderstood type that was perhaps more human than most humans. He is a rather sensitive individual now, but he still takes care to mind himself and others. His paranoia is his biggest fault as a person though and often causes him problems with others and himself, over the years it's got worse and left him more anxious.
He's trying his best though to overcome that aspect about himself though, as it often causes problems with his quirk too and he doesn't want to end up killing himself or hurting others.
Equipment:
° Caffeine pills, to help keep him awake longer before he passes out after using his quirk at maximum for too long.
° Journal of monster's, one's that he came up with for reference should he need it. It's not safe for him to shift into things he doesn't fully grasp the concept of, so he likes to have something on hand to look at depending on the situation. Plus it helps him to get into the emotional state he needs to be in for each creature, sort of like an actor getting ready for a role, or at least that's what he tells himself.
Quirk: Emotional Body Shifting.
Toshizo's emotional state can change what his body manifests into. Usually due to his sullen nature he sports a skeletal head on his otherwise normal body, sometimes his body becomes more skeletal the more depressed he gets. When he feels happy and like himself he looks like any normal human being, however due to being a very paranoid/emotional individual, ( plagued with nightmares and very much into the horror genre as a hobby ) when he uses his quirk at it's full advantage, often times his body contorts to nightmarish and horrifying forms.
In addition he gains whatever usefulness or downsides comes with such monstrous bodies. He is prone to pass out after using his quirk too much or too long, rendering him useless and needing his body looked after. He can end up throwing up blood when he strains his body too much, it's not enough to really be concerned about but it happens. It should be noted that when his body shifts into these 'creatures' it's quite literally a shift, bones breaking, skin ripping, it's very painful depending on how inhuman they look, the pain can cause him to lose control if he isn't used to that form. Some forms are easier than others, as he's practiced them slowly over the years, so usually he tries to stray away from large enough forms to cause him body discomfort.
The longer he's in more monstrous and large forms the weaker he becomes, often times the forms are cumbersome and slow, ( it should be noted that he isn’t slow enough to not be able to hold his own however in his usual forms ). The more emotional he gets the less he can control himself and has a chance of shifting into something even worse on his body. It's basically an ability for more quick power and scare factor than fighting long term as it takes a toll on him, both physically and emotionally. What he gains in shear power and intimidation he looses in stamina, sometimes speed and health.
The quirk itself is a variation of shape shifting, that's more dependent on his emotional state than anything else. Like he can shift into things ( usually monster's because that's what he's into ) but he's got to be in the right head space to control it, or shape shift into something he wants. It takes a toll on his body, because I was inspired by those old werewolf movies, where it's quite literally a shift in body structure. His bones and everything all smooth themselves back, like it would be initially painful if he's shape shifting into something less human like he normally does, that he isn’t used to.
I imagine he's more interested in being a powerhouse, than like in an espionage role by shape shifting into humans or something. The only thing being if he did shift into something too big, it could cause him enough pain to lose control until he passed out from the body trauma. When he loses control it's more along the lines of when Tokoyami lost control in the woods, it's something I don't think would happen often and even if it did would require him to shape shift into a large enough form to lose control, he'd pass out fast and be very cumbersome and slow, meaning easy to get away from over all.
SO TLDR the drawbacks to his ability are as follows: If he shape shifts into something too big he won't be able to emotional or psychically handle the strain, his body will lose stability, so he'll lose control before passing out. His forms are normally slow, he lacks speed, stamina and health with the current practiced forms in favor of a power and intimidation factor. He also can't shape shift into anything he hasn't practiced, at least well.
So nothing on the fly without training as far as new forms go. His emotional state can alter if he's even able to hold onto the form for very long without messing it up or losing control/passing out, as that's probably the main aspect to the ability as far as drawbacks go. If he's too emotional he's going to be unfocused and thus unable to to even shape shift properly.
Childhood History: ( see above in personality for how his quirk manifested ) Born to a mother with Nightmare Manipulation and a Shape Shifting father, Toshizō was bound to have some sort of decent ability, his parents just never expected it to be an ability with such a double edged sword to it. He was raised in a warm household and had a very much normal childhood, anytime he had any nightmares his mother would quell them away.
Anytime he wanted to play pretend his father could shift into all sorts of his favorite hero's, if only for a short time. They nurtured him, but eventually when his Quirk manifested that all seemed to no longer help him.
He would grow distant from them, focused on what brought him comfort, the nightmares no longer plagued him like they used to, the only game of pretend he wanted to play anymore, would be the kind with his eyes glued to the television screen. He loves his parents sure and they still love and support him but that distance only seems to grow with time.
In Toshizō's youngest years his father inspired him to become a hero, it had always been his father's dream. While the man never pushed it on him, it was an unspoken sort of thing that would initially drive him to become a hero, a real one, the kind his dad could become in theory but never truly. At his core he wants to make his parents proud, even if he shy's away from them currently and even if that isn't his only motive now anymore that his quirk has manifested.
Extra: °He loves horror movies to probably an unhealthy degree, he has shelves of them and his room is littered with posters all over the walls. He even collects horror masks that he keeps in a glass light up cabinet, ironic given his hero costume doesn't have one.
° His favorite Pro Hero is Godzillo.
° Toshizō’s favorite food is Yakitori, his least favorite is Dumplings.
° He likes cats, dislikes birds and is indifferent to other small animals and dogs.
° He drinks way more soda than any one person should, it's pretty much all he drinks, it's a wonder the caffeine pills he takes even work.
° His father's ability was pretty much perfected, except he could never get the voices down pat, due to this his ability was pretty much useless to become a hero, as it would become clear quick that he wasn't really who he shape shifted into. He went to U.A but never completed it's courses, mostly due to the above. He would eventually become an accountant.
° His mother studies sleep patterns and helps people with sleeping disorders for a living. Sometimes he thinks she still creeps into his dreams, particularly the nightmares, to check on him and soothe him like she used to. He doesn't tell her he knows and she doesn't ever mention it.
° His main monster form is a wendigo skeletal deer type of creature, it's tall and bulky, but not quite as big as he can make his form. Mostly because the bigger the creature the more he can't control it, or hold the form for very long. Still, It's a very foreboding and looming type of creature, with long arms, large upper shoulders and chest. As well as extending claws and jutting horns. This form is the slower of the three forms he can currently do well, but it’s also the strongest.
° Another form he can do currently is a werewolf like creature with multiple eyes and a protruding spine, with a row of crocodile like teeth and jaws. The creature's tail is long much like the aforementioned crocodile. This is his in between form as far as speed and power are concerned currently, it’s also smaller than the aforementioned form.
° He’s currently about to start practicing on a faster form just in case he needs an escape plane, or for any other reason to need such. Appearance wise it’s still in a conceptual stage and hasn’t been practiced much, he’s thinking something snake like in appearance but he isn’t sure. All he knows is he needs to get sure of himself quick for the academy.
