Cannon Tree is basically there to impregnate Violetshine and cause unnecessary drama. Only good thing that came from him is Root and Needle.

They even bring his blonde butt up in Squilfhope like, "Hey wow! We have a mediator who can resolve conflict!" And he says,
"Ummnnnnn i resolve conflict between Clans. Not them. UwU."
(Doesn't resolve any conflict between the Clans. Makes the sister situation worse. Contributes nothing to the plot otherwise.)
#I love the idea of the sisters but#Tree was a mistake#they introduce this culture and right away make sure you know that they're Not Good#Between Tree and showing the exiling of 6-month-old boys who are considered 13 in universe#they painted the Sisters as a bizarre fem cult instead of a unique culture#and it undermines the point Squilf is trying to make about them being worthy of protection#I like Squilfhope as a political novel but it has all the same issues of the main series#it sets up a lot of good and is a very interesting read with knowledge of abuse in mind#but boy are its flaws honking
