Also! If your insurance is changing in 2025, please get your new card to your pharmacy asap! That way they can process scripts through your new insurance without a hiccup. Usually you get your new ID cards in the mail around the beginning of December. If you haven’t gotten it yet, please call your insurance company and request that info as well as ask for them to send a new ID card. It’ll make the process so much easier in the beginning of 2025 when you get your meds and you don’t have to worry about a rejection because the insurance changed. The information they will need is:
your BIN, PCN, Group, and Member ID number. All of those are on your pharmacy insurance card.
Important 2024 USA Year-End Holiday Healthcare Reminders
Monday, Dec. 23rd 2024 is the best day to reliably request any year-end meds. This goes double if it’s new—do not get fucked by prior authorizations!
If you need a prior authorization, ask the office/pharmacy to request an expedited one from your insurance. Even with that, your insurance may still drag it out. They absolutely will if you don’t try tho.
Noon on Friday, Dec. 27th is pretty much last call for year-end refills. Everyone is calling in. Your doc is almost certainly not open to process orders on weekends. Being realistic here, depending on their caseload, you still may not make the cut.
If you request a refill after Friday, Dec. 27th 2024, it is probably not getting filled until January. Please still try if you need the refill, but I’m not gonna sugarcoat it. This is not necessarily because your doc’s office isn’t trying. It’s much more likely that they’re short due to holidays & illness.
Whatever you do, do not lose your shit. There are shitty people in healthcare, and you should be able to get mad about it. Do not lose your shit at the office! If you do, you may be barred from that practice. No idea how it looks elsewhere, but it’s a 2-4+ month wait for new patients at nearly every PCP/specialist in DC, MD and VA. I know, it fucking sucks sometimes. Please don’t risk your access to life sustaining care.
Please be kind. A lot of the healthcare workers who don’t suck are disabled and/or otherwise marginalized. We get it, and we’re drowning over here. If you act like we’re all UHC CEOs, we’re gonna burn out trying to help you. Then, you really may be left with everyone who’s aiming for that job.
Everything I’ve said also applies to pharmacies. They’re damn near criminally short on a normal day. Q4 is hell, and the last two weeks are Black Friday: extended edition. They’re painfully aware that someone will go without, even if they work themselves to collapse. Yelling at them isn’t going to help you, it’ll likely just lead to a nervous breakdown and/or early closure.
Sincerely,
Centralized scheduler on LTD ❤️🧑🏽🦼❤️
#pharmacy tech who works for pharm insurance here#all of this is super fucking true#seriously if you know you need a PA GET IT IN EARLY#also please do not lose your shit on the customer care agents. I’m just answering the phone. remember we do not make decisions.#I will go to the ends of the earth to get you your issues resolved as quick as possible#please remember we don’t get to make decisions and the people who made the plans are the ones you need to be upset with.#I legit spent two hours the other day made about ten phone calls to get someone their opioid early to go on vacation#so yes. if you need refills/pas get it in.#also if your insurance is changing in 2025 PLEASE get your new information to your pharmacy

Atonement
Summary: Miguel gave you strict instructions; instructions that you went above and beyond to disobey. Now you have to deal with the consequences.
Pairing: Miguel Galindo x reader
Warnings: Implied sexual content, sex toys, Dom/sub undertones, punishments
Word count: 2,960
A/N: How are y’all feeling about this one?
“Miguel, come on!”
The cartel leader shook his head as he shrugged into his jacket, his face showing no empathy for you nor any remorse.
“You disobeyed me and now this is your punishment. There will be no negotiations.”
He had been overwhelmingly busy this week, working hard to clean up his public image and make sure that future business partners were convinced that he was legit. Between architecture and agriculture, he had rubbed elbows and shook hands with many people this week and he knew that he needed to be focused for it. That was why he had asked you to make sure you only reached out to him if it was an absolute emergency. For anything else, you were to call Nestor or one of the other guards.
So when his phone had begun buzzing, the screen showing that you were trying to facetime him, he had gotten worried and excused himself from the meeting, only to answer the call and be confronted with the sight of you laying in your shared luxurious bed, toys scattered all around you as you writhed and arched, the most mischievous smile on your face. Miguel had hung up without a word and had given you what you had thought was your punishment.
But this morning you had woken up to the sound of him locking up the safe, your toys now secured behind the near-impenetrable metal. He had also erased your plan before you had even said it out loud.
‘I changed the code so you can’t get in. Don’t even try.’
And now he was going away for business, not due to be back for another four days. All the while you were expected to not use any of your toys, and it hadn’t mattered how much you had begged and pleaded; the boss had not budged.
With that, he was grabbing his sunglasses from the top of your shared dresser and keeping them in his hand. Taking three steps toward you, he reached forward and placed his hand on the back of your neck, binging you forward toward him. His lips were warm and soft as he pressed them first to your lips and then to your forehead.
“Be a good girl and I’ll make it up to you when I come back home.”
Your pout was pronounced as you looked at him through your lashes, voice small and persuasive.
“But daddy…”
Miguel sucked his teeth before giving a small chuckle, impressed with you hard you were trying.
“Usually that will work but not this time, baby. You’re just gonna have to suck it up. Maybe next time you’ll think twice before teasing me when you know I need to be focused on these new business deals.”
He was pulling away from you then and walking out of the bedroom in silence as you trailed behind him all the way down the stairs and to the front door, Nestor already by the car waiting for him outside.
“Miguel, please. Just let me get one out. Just one.”
He did not even respond to your plea, only told you that he loved you as he walked out of the door, your frustration growing more and more with each passing second. With a huff, you closed the door behind him and stalked inside, trying to think of something else to get your mind off the fact that other than your fingers, you had no way of bringing yourself pleasure, at least not how you were used to. And as luck would have it, the knowledge that you had no access to your assortment of bliss had you craving them even more than normal.
You walked around the house and tidied up, dusting, and organizing, rearranging your perfumes on the beige marble bathroom counter. You made a snack and sat outside to feel the wind on your face. You did everything you could to try and get your mind off the punishment that you had been dealt out, but it didn’t seem to be working. You still felt needy as ever and your phone lighting up with a text from Miguel did not help. Opening it up, you saw the little airplane emoji that he always sent when he was already taking off and you grumbled. How dare he leave you here without any toys? You felt yourself growing irritated about it again, the brat in you firing up.
Then you had a thought.
And if Miguel had still been there, he would have known that the smirk that appeared on your lips meant trouble.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~`
You hummed to yourself cheerfully as you walked back inside, package in hand. You had spent a good hour late-night scrolling through your favorite site for toys, picking out a new one and you did not hold back. If Miguel wanted to leave you high and dry, you would just have to make do. So, you had bought the expensive toy that you had been eyeing for months; the one Miguel said you couldn’t get because he wanted you to wait until he got it for your birthday.
You had decided in your bratty nature to buy the toy regardless, spending the extra money to have it overnighted.
And used his card to purchase it no less.
You knew Miguel wasn’t going to be upset about the money as that was no object. It was the principle and the flat-out, premeditated disobedience. That was what was going to get you into the biggest trouble. You took the package to your bathroom and then set it up with his card next to it, snapping a quick photo before sending it to Miguel with the caption ‘Hope you don’t mind. You always said to use the card for whatever I need.’
With your death warrant now signed, you put the phone to the side and began unboxing the toy, cleaning it thoroughly. You were setting it down to dry when your phone buzzed, Miguel’s reply waiting to be read. Your heart was stammering in anticipation and it took you a handful of seconds to pick the phone back up. When you did it was a quite simple warning.
‘Leave it in the box. If it’s still packaged when I get back, I’ll make it easier on you.’
Your heart skipped a beat. It was easier when you were making the choice to make things harder for yourself. You were already done for now though and you knew it as you looked over the shredded box it had come in. There was no way for you to fake it or even cover your tracks and with a sigh, you reached for the toy, the anticipation of what Miguel was going to do to you once he returned making you sweat.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~`
The days flew by soon enough, Nestor was texting you that he and Miguel were on their way, ten minutes out.
Of course, your bratty attitude had faded quickly after you had found your release and it did not take long for the guilt to settle in. You felt bad for being disobedient and you felt bad for using his card to do it. The prospect of whatever punishment he was going to unleash on you also did nothing for soothing your worries and you found yourself in a position that was familiar.
Guilty and remorseful now that you had gotten what you wanted.
You knew Miguel wasn’t going to actually be mad at you, nor would he ever deal out a punishment that you weren’t ok with, but that didn’t make the anticipation any less intimidating. You had done everything that you could do try and weaken the blow when it came. You had followed all his other rules, including never leaving the house without a guard, keeping your phone on at all times, and making sure to eat well-balanced meals throughout your days, not just quick snacks.
You had a good feeling that those things wouldn’t matter though.
Soon enough the front door was opening, and Miguel was walking through it along with Nestor, both dressed down and looking somewhat tired after the flight. You smiled as they walked in, both men returning it. It was already well into the evening and dinner was ready, the table set. Nestor walked past you first, leaning down for a quick hug before closing and locking the door behind Miguel. Now it was Miguel’s turn and you stepped toward him hesitantly, trying to read the room. He smiled as he saw you, appearing as if nothing were wrong. Almost as if he had forgotten your transgression, though you knew that was never the case.
The cartel boss hugged you tightly, pressing a kiss to your lips that was just as full of love as it always was, and you relished in it. Pulling away, he smiled as he took a deep breath, smelling the food.
And then just like that, he was walking away from you and toward the kitchen.
With brows knitted, you followed behind him, not used to him leaving you alone so quickly after coming back home and not seeing you for days. He was sitting down at the head of the table as per usual, unbuttoning the first two top buttons on his shirt and rolling up his sleeves. The cook was already plating and serving, and you happily trotted over to take your seat next to your husband as you did every night, only for him to shake his head and point to the seat exactly opposite of him at the furthest end of the table.
“You can sit over there tonight.”
He didn’t even dignify you with a look, simply began arranging his silverware as he waited for his plate. You on the other hand stood like a fish out of water, not even knowing what to do or think. Nestor was beginning to make his way over and so Miguel spoke again with a lower tone.
“Did I stutter?”
Consumed by confusion, you relented and made your way over to sit where he had instructed, Nestor’s dark brow arching as he saw you in such an unfamiliar place at the table. Not daring to question Miguel, he simply took his own seat, and soon dinner was in front of everyone.
You sat and ate, listening to Miguel and Nestor talk between bites as they went over plans for this next coming week. Something about a meeting on Wednesday in the morning and you smiled internally, thankful that since it was in the morning, it wouldn’t conflict with your weekly Wednesday evening ice cream plans. Swallowing your bite of food, you inquired about Miguel’s trip.
“How was the flight, babe?”
Your question fell on deaf ears however, Miguel simply picking back up the conversation with Nestor that he had started, ignoring you entirely. You and Nestor exchanged a look, the guard’s eyes leaving yours quickly and returning to his plate, not feeling like getting in the middle of whatever the two of you had going on. You realized then that this was going to be your punishment and despite there not being any overstimulation or spankings, you could quickly tell that this was going to be one of the worst punishments you had ever been dealt out.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~`
It was bedtime now and you were doing your skincare when Miguel came into the bathroom, stepping up to his sink right beside you and beginning to brush his teeth. With your moisturizer and serum done, you washed your hands quickly before coming up behind him, wrapping your arms around his bare middle.
“I missed you.”
Miguel mumbled around his toothbrush and continued with his dental hygiene. He had kept up the charade all night and you were desperately hoping that he would put a stop to it by the time you were both slipping into bed. You held onto him as he finished up, wiping his mouth, and then drying his face before standing. You stayed holding him, pressing small kisses to his back in hopes that he would take pity on you. Your voice was small as you apologized.
“I’m sorry for not listening and for being a brat.”
It sounded foreign coming from you; usually, you could pay for your forgiveness with your body. You weren’t used to having to apologize. At least not for being a brat. The cartel leader simply turned around in your arms and you smiled, figuring that the punishment was over only for him to hold onto your elbows and gently remove your arms from him, walking away from you and into the bedroom to go to bed.
Once more you stood like a statue with your mouth open, unable to believe that he was ignoring you still. The behavior stung for a moment and then it made you irritated, that remorse and need for forgiveness from earlier disappearing. With a huff, you stripped everything off and then made your way into the bedroom behind him, Miguel already in bed facing away from your side and giving you his back. You climbed in bedside him and tried to snuggle up into him, voice sultry and wanton and you stroked his bare skin.
“Miguellllll. Please baby, just talk to me. I missed you.”
The man shrugged you and stayed facing away if only to stop you from seeing on his face how badly he wanted you.
“Go to sleep, mi amor.”
He paid you no mind after that, not even when you rolled over onto your back and began to run your hands over your naked body, wishing desperately that they were his. Your soft moans and whimpers made him rock hard, but you couldn’t tell, his discipline and self-control top tier. You tried and tried but to no avail. Giving up, you grumbled and covered yourself with the blanket, muttering out a goodnight and not expecting a response.
“Goodnight. I love you.”
That little bit of reciprocation made you smile, and you knew you would be able to crack him by tomorrow.
“I love you too.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~`
It was now three days since your punishment had begun and all battiness had evaded you. You no longer wished to be a pain, nor did you want to keep pushing his buttons. You just wanted to have your husband back. You wanted to have him cuddle and caress you the way he always did. To hold you for a full half-hour in the mornings when you wake up. To let you sit on his lap while he does paperwork at his desk. To press kisses to your forehead while telling you how important you were to him before bed. You missed it all, and with eyes that were due to fill with tears at any moment, you walked yourself into his office. He looked up as you entered, his eyes flinching as he saw the sadness in your features. There were a few tense moments of staring at each other before you cracked and walked over to him. He stood as you made your way over, not an ounce of defiance in you anymore.
He faced you as you came to a stop in front of him, eyes dark and warm as they looked at you. You stood defeated, fully aware that you had lost this one.
“You’ve made your point.”
Your voice was quiet, a touch of misery audible. Miguel simply chuckled, never taking his eyes off you.
“Have I?”
You nodded, looking at him through your lashes, hands clasped together in front of you.
“Yeah. I’m sorry. I fucked up.”
“Yeah, you did.”
You nodded once more, struggled with trying to apologize as he stared at you, waiting.
“I shouldn’t have facetimed you that day when I knew that you were busy, and I shouldn’t have gone around my punishment.”
“And?”
You winced and looked down, laughing nervously.
“And I shouldn’t have used your card to buy the toy.”
“And?”
You sunk down further and further into yourself with every prompt, uncomfortable to say the least.
“And I shouldn’t have rubbed it in your face by sending you the picture.”
Miguel stayed looking at you for a handful of seconds with an unreadable face before nodded, his shoulders relaxing some from their raised position of dominance.
“So, what do you say?”
You didn’t hesitate, knowing that it was best to simply get it over with.
“I’m sorry and I hope you forgive me. I promise I won’t ever do it again.”
He stared at you for a little while more, putting on the heat before he let the side of his mouth lift slightly. His hand reached out to you, cradling the side of your face gently. It was the first affectionate touch you had received from him in the near four days after your fuck up and it felt so good you could cry. Eyes closing on their own, your head leaned into his touch, your own hands coming up to hold his where it was. You nuzzled into his palm as much as you could, the cartel leader letting out a soft sigh of content as he watched you relish in his touch.
“You had to learn your lesson.”
You nodded, eyes still closed for a moment before you opened them.
“I did.”
Miguel nodded himself and offered you a loving smile, tugging you into him.
“Then all is forgiven.”
He was hugging you tightly then, his own eyes closing as he enjoyed the sensation of having you in his arms again.
“That was harder for me than it was for you.”
You scoffed and shook your head against his shoulder.
“Doubt it.”
He chuckled, happy to have things back to the way they should be.
“Maybe you’re right.”

Helia and Tecna friendship headcanons? -lambofzenith
AHHHHHHHHHH okay so
helia is really bad at technology right? pretty much anything that isn't covered in red fountain lessons, he's a complete no-go at. tecna takes it upon herself to try and help him understand basic technology a bit more and it goes so wrong. helia is literally the mom that squints their eyes and holds their phone away from their face while using One pointer finger to type everything. tecna hates it so much.
helia naturally doesn't understand a single thing that comes out of her mouth when she's talking technology but he still supports her nonetheless
helia is surprisingly rational most of the time! he's a firm Push All My Emotions Down And Then One Day I'll Die kind of person so even during really stressful missions, he's good at keeping a level head about things. tecna really appreciates this and it's not rare to see her, helia, and timmy discussing mission-related strategies During The Middle Of A Fight
tecna has a tendency to talk while she works (only noticeable around people she's comfortable with though) but she gets a little self-conscious about it. she knows it's not Bad or anything, but it doesn't seem Right either so she tries to keep quiet most of the time. helia on the other hand is so used to working while it's noisy that he's totally chill with it. they've gotten used to just vibing in the same room, working on their own things, and not actually talking to each other during it. they're comfortable around each other :) helia doesn't mind when she rambles out loud and tecna doesn't mind him pacing around the room every five minutes. symbiotic relationship.
tecna doesn't like talking about what she went through in the omega dimension, even with timmy. however, she does occasionally draw things out when she really needs to vent and can't think of any other way how. she's always been good at sketching due to her background in designing gadgets so this wasn't a weird transition for her. helia told her about this anonymous place for artists to submit their art with absolutely no names attached and after checking to make sure it was legit and she was completely safe, she started to submit one or two a year. she doesn't like to do it often but it does help to sort of "get it out" without actually talking about it.
while helia is notoriously Bad at video games, he does actually like the more "physical reality" ones (think that virtual reality tecmy scene!) mainly because it feels close enough to real life that he doesn't need to rely on just technology to do it. tecna and helia often have very competitive gaming matches but specifically within those kinds of games otherwise, he's really bad at it and she gets annoyed that he can't remember any of the buttons.
speaking of competitions, helia has an inner bet going on of How Much Can I Pretend To Not Know Jackshit About A Specific Technological Topic Before Tecna Notices. what he doesn't know, is that tecna knows he does this and has her own inner bet of How Long Can I Explain This Specific Topic Before Helia Gets Bored And Moves On. so far, the score is mostly even, with helia only winning because timmy isn't aware of this mental battle and will often jump in to explain things too. helia is very smug about this and tecna can't say anything to timmy otherwise she loses the fight that no one actually set firm rules on.
timmy is just really happy that his two best friends are also friends and sometimes he tries to invite helia and flora on their dates. tecna is okay with this only because she thinks it's funny. florelia were also okay with it but started to not be because they realized that their version of a date and tecmy's version of a date was extremely different. they've started to come up with increasingly ridiculous excuses for why they can't go and so far timmy is the only one that hasn't noticed. poor timmy, he genuinely thinks flora's best friend cactus is sick and needs care 😔
when timmy isn't available, helia will call tecna for any technology related issues he's having. on one hand, she likes that he trusts her and can rely on her, on the other hand, she's told him ten separate times not to leave his computer running all the damn time. (tecna: please turn the computer off when you're not using it. this will immensely help solve all of the problems you've been having. helia: okay so i'm gonna leave it on all the time?). he's not trying to be difficult though. he just forgets everything and assumes it should work regardless (he a little stupit).
roxy gets so much gender envy from both of them and it confuses her all the time. they have no idea what a gender envy is though and they're mostly just wondering how they stop giving it to roxy since it seems like it agitates her??? help please???? researching the matter doesn't help and it ends up becoming a meme on winx stan twt because tecna made a very official and serious post asking about the severity of "gender envy" and needing to know how contagious it is. now whenever either of them posts, earth teens just comment gender envy at them. helia still doesn't know what it means.
they don't watch movies/tv together but they will binge-watch the same shows and then talk about them later on. tecna's formatting is still very formal and functional meanwhile helia bounces off multiple points and forgets to make a conclusion. he stresses her out so much.
helia notices when tecna has stayed up too long for too many nights and will occasionally send her a "please sleep" message when he knows timmy is already asleep and can't do it. she doesn't always listen but sometimes she will, but not before sending the same message back because why the fuck is he up at this hour huh dumbass?????
tecna has a pet bird and helia has multiple cats and they absolutely cannot be in the same room together. her bird is constantly trying to fight his cats and while they're usually well behaved, he's genuinely scared they're gonna try to eat it (tecna: stop calling my bird an "it"; helia: stop putting your bird near my cats 😐)
they actually don't like hanging out when one of them is upset. they both have a hard time talking about their emotions (for different reasons obviously) and they always end up feeling like they have to say something when they're together. they just really prefer hanging when they're both in a good mood or at least calm. whenever one of them gets upset, they stop hanging out together until that person feels better.
connected to the last point, you'd think that would mean they don't know a lot about each other, but they surprisingly do! they're both relatively observant people (tecna gets better every year) and they're actually really good at figuring out why the other is upset and what would help. they just don't talk about it.
although, on a similar note, the one time they did have an emotional talk, it was about timmy. tecna was feeling upset again and worrying over whether or not she's "too logical/not emotional enough" and it was the one time where she actually allowed herself to hang out with him while being upset. they had a genuine heart to heart about things and especially about how she's way too hard on herself. they thought it would be awkward since they actively avoided this kind of thing but it wasn't! it went very naturally and helia even teared up a bit. he's very proud of her and the effort she makes every day and since that talk has been much more vocal about it.
when they went to earth in s4, they both spent way too much time learning about Earth Things; tecna about earth media (canon), and helia about animals since that's what flora was talking about. he started calling tecna "chip" after that because chipmunks reminded him of her. she disagrees with this assessment and he refuses to admit he mixed up chipmunks and squirrels. he still calls her chip to this day, and fortunately, it's grown on her. unfortunately, he calls timmy "chip" too, and now it's a hassle to figure out who he's talking to.
helia is surprisingly interested in zenith technology despite not understanding it all! he enjoys walking through the streets of zenith with tecna while she proudly points things out so he can go "ooo aaa" at everything. sometimes she tries to explain how things work and his mind starts playing elevator music automatically. tecna has gotten really good at knowing when helia is just. brain empty no thoughts because she recognizes the Empty look in his eyes. she enjoys catching it live and trying to figure out why he's just. not thinking (usually it's because he either doesn't understand something or got bored) (this happens often when sky starts talking) (sorry sky)
tecna is one of the winx (besides flora of course) that helia trusts the most. not in an emotional or friend way, but in a physical, we're on a mission way. she has good control of her magic and knows how to use it. she's good at thinking of strategies and applying them properly to the situation. and after the omega dimension, he had a newfound respect for her previously unknown to him survival skills. if he were even in severe danger, she would be the first winx he'd call (depending on the situation, she is occasionally ahead of flora).
helia is really bad at sharing details. he tends to go straight to the conclusion but doesn't share how he got there (adhd king 😌) and tecna is the best person to call in when this happens. her logical questioning makes it seem so easy because she has the patience and knowledge to connect the dots and ask the right questions. when anyone else tries its more like (helia: i'm sitting in a pool of blood; person: uhm do you know where it's coming from?; helia: probably the stab wound; someone: did you get stabbed??; helia: oh yeah definitely.)
#lamb.. i love them so much...#the comedy potential with these two are just off the roof#winx club#winx tecna#winx helia#answered#lambofzenith#mine.headcanons#ugh ik i mentioned it on the trivelia post but this made me think of the backstory i made up for helia#because tecna plays a big part in it later on in the story#i have an entire rewrite that i refuse to ever actually write ajhgljadlg#but tecna plays a big part in helia's Main Arc in the story... and its so self indulgent i just really love these two#posting now.. when no one is awake.. ajkdhljaghdlj

Does it matter?
By @loneswagger for @pixiethefirecat7
This is for the @friendly-neighborhood-exchange!
Rating: General Audiences
Relationships: Peter Parker & Tony Stark, Peter Parker & Steve Rogers, Steve Rogers & Tony Stark
Characters: Peter Parker, Tony Stark, Steve Rogers, Bucky Barnes, James “Rhodey” Rhodes, Bruce Banner, May Parker
Summary:
When Peter reached forward and called his name, Tony honest-to-god flinched away from him.
His fingers twitched. “Captain Rogers did this, didn’t he?”
Hard brown eyes snapped shut. “Does it matter?”
“Yes,” Peter said, kneeling softly beside the hero’s battered form. “It does.” -
The one where Tony Stark lives with a metal arm, Steve Rogers never became old, and Peter Parker baffles at how incredibly fine they make everything seem. Or, the one where Peter Parker becomes Tony's designated spokesperson. Seriously, what would they do without him? (Nothing, apparently.)
Story under the cut! Hope you like it~
Does it hurt?
*
He once found Tony shirtless and utterly wasted in the lab, drowning in a sea of one too many shattered decanters, knuckles gone white from wringing that outdated burner phone for who knows how long. Crimson dribbled from calloused palms across scarred flesh, to ripped jeans over to shimmering glass shards littered upon sullied floors.
When Peter reached forward and called his name, Tony honest-to-god flinched.
His fingers twitched. “Captain Rogers did this, didn’t he?”
Hard brown eyes snapped shut. “Does it matter?”
“Yes,” Peter said, kneeling softly beside the hero’s battered form. “It does.”
*
When Peter came home, he expected many things. He expected his dingy little apartment with the wafting smells of May’s burnt bread, imagined snuggling on the couch with her, and watching cheesy soap operas all through the night. He expected those weekly sessions with just him and Mr. Stark in the lab, planning, tinkering and innovating without a care in the world, positively shining whenever Mr. Stark whistled and said, “You got brains, kid.”
He should have known, expectations rarely matched up with reality.
Said notion found him in front of his lunch one day, mumbling, “Nothing makes sense anymore.”
“Oh?” A tilted look of concern.
“I just- I never expected this, y’know?” Peter twirled a fork aimlessly between his fingers, eyes trained so hard on his meal he thought it might start sizzling soon. Or evaporate into dust. Whichever seemed possible at this rate. “It’s not bad, I mean, you have a great family and an actual kid now- which is totally cool, by the way! And May - May has Happy now, so the apartment's not that empty anymore, a-and she smiles a whole lot more these days. Which is good, I guess. The Accords isn’t even a legit thing anymore, the Avengers come together to sing Kumbaya every other weekend,” His fingers tightened round the fork. “Everything’s all good, yeah?”
There probably would have been a reply, if it wasn't for the tell-tale thump of approaching footsteps Peter never dreamed of growing familiar with.
“Afternoon, Captain Doritos,” Mr. Stark’s drawl felt appeasing at best, challenging at worst.
Captain Rogers threw a half-glance his way, nodding curtly. He went for the fridge in two large strides, swiping out a carton of milk and downing its contents in one vigorous go.
“Ugh, you’re gross, Cap, I’m getting the hell out of here,” Mr. Stark rose from his seat, lightly tousling Peter’s hair as he went. “Finish your grub and hang in the lab with me later, yeah?” His eyes seemed to soften. “It‘ll be just like old times.”
Old times. Right.
“Also-” Mr. Stark slapped the good Captain’s shoulder, smirking wildly at the vexed ‘Oi!’ that elicited. “If we’re watching anything remotely Disney tonight, I’m going back to Pep’s for the weekend.”
“For that alone, we’re watching Moana, Frozen and Mulan!” Captain Rogers hollered after the retreating metal middle finger shot high in the air, shaking his head once it fully disappeared down the hallway. A bemused look. “What’s wrong with Disney?”
Peter scoffed, grin plastered expertly on his face.
Another thing that didn’t make sense, this song and dance. This parade of concealed emotions, this system of tactical meet-and-retreat, this exhibition of faux jaunt put up for one another. The shake in Captain’s tone, the tremor in Mr. Stark’s arm - almost indiscernible and yet there it was. Always there, each time Peter looked.
Captain’s carton of milk slid into the bin by his feet. “So how was your week, son?”
Peter chewed on his noodles thoughtfully. “Tiring, I guess. Lots of homework. Also-” He made a face. “Son? Seriously? How nineteen-thirties can you get, Cap?”
Captain rolled his eyes, mock indignance in his stance. “Great. I have to deal with two Tony Starks in the team now, don’t I?”
“Exactly,” Peter smirked, drawing out the last syllable slightly.
*
He remembered piecing uncharacteristically silent calls with his own incessant chatter, so that the harsh breaths pulsating on the other end would finally, finally smoothen out. He remembered resting a hand over Tony’s arrhythmically flouncing heart, coaxing him for a meal, a drink or to just breathe. He remembered whispering to him in a voice so soft yet so firm, “Mr. Stark? Mr. St-Tony? Tony, it’s me. It’s Peter. No one else is here, okay? You’re safe now. You’re safe.”
He remembered the world of hurt his hero went through.
*
It wasn’t like Peter never asked.
He tried asking during the quiet moments, when he and Mr. Stark were the only ones up at ass ‘o clock, when Mr. Stark strolled into the kitchen for customary morning tea (Pepper said weekends were coffee-free days). He tried asking during the loud ones too, when Mr. Stark was drunk on whatever alcohol he was having, when all the Avengers were in the room, because surely Mr. Stark wouldn’t turn down an opportunity to brag about a good story in front of everyone, right? Wrong. That particular fiasco ended with more than a couple uncomfortable looks, a pale-faced Mr. Stark storming out of said room and a flustered Peter trailing after him with his dozen apologies.
It got to the point where Mr. Stark had to sit Peter down, look him in the eye and say, “That’s it.” His finger, the metal one, dug deep into Peter’s collared shirt. “Stop it, kid. Me and Rogers, whatever happened between the two of us, it’s got nothing to do with you. And we’re fine now. We’re fixed. We watch Star Wars and Harry Potter every other Sunday, for god’s sake. There’s no better that we can get.” The other hand pressed on his arm shakily, a sort of pleading in the motion. “You don’t have to do anything for us anymore. Alright?”
Peter stopped asking after that.
Instead, he made observations. His eyes tracked each subtle gesture of wistful longing between the two, sometimes bordering on spontaneous animosity. Day and night, he made summaries, graphs, charts and fifty-one five-page essays for ten days in a row, writing and writing like he was running out of time.
He conducted interviews too.
Colonel Rhodes shook his head so adamantly when Peter pulled him aside for one of his trademark inquiry sessions, refusing to divulge anything more than a clipped but not unkind, "There’s definitely problems this team hasn't come to terms with yet, but it doesn’t fall on your shoulders to solve them, Peter." Dr. Banner had been much more forthcoming, nodding along to Peter’s mini monologue of observations. He even pitched in some of his own discoveries as to how the two skirted around each other when there was or wasn’t an audience, albeit with a mild warning that some things aren’t meant to be pushed too hard.
Even Bucky once appeared in front of Peter’s room, bouquet of purple hydrangeas and mug of hot chocolate in tow after one particularly brutal sparring session which had ended with one man’s ruptured blood vessel and another’s broken nose. He spent an hour trying to convey that, that was just their way of resolving conflict, their way of getting things out of their system. There wasn’t much that could be done about it. There wasn’t much they could do about it.
Or so they said.
But how many sleepless dawns after patrol had Peter spent - huddled under blankets in front of a glaring screen, scouring his way through Friday’s systems, keying in every code, every digit he thought would lead him to the right answer. Something, anything that he could work with.
Two months, twenty days and twelve hours later, he found it. The answer. Or at least, a part of it.
It wasn’t pretty.
He knew. He knew, he knew, he knew that The Winter Soldier wasn’t Bucky, that the man in the video was just Hydra’s brainwashed lackey, that the Bucky he was familiar with would never consent to do anything remotely similar to what he had seen him do. He knew this, and yet some nights still found him jolting awake in a sea of his own sweat; May’s gasps echoing Maria Stark’s dying wheeze, Howard and Tony Stark’s pleas morphing into one, cold unflinching gaze haunting all the moments he fell quiescent.
In the moments that he was restless, however, Peter resumed his search. He ploughed through the frights and horrors and sleepless dawns even more frenetically than he first did, because if he didn’t get to the bottom of this, no one else would. Because he knew there was more than just ‘The Winter Soldier murdered Mr. Stark’s parents’; there was always more.
Because what use was a team, if all its splintered souls did nothing to embrace their blemishes?
*
“Hey, Pete.”
“Hm?”
“Wanna’ skip out on the theater gig tonight?” Alloyed fingers drummed idly on the lab table. “We could stay in here for a bit, work on those web-shooter combinations. Could order some tacos. Or pizza. Your choice.”
Peter raised an eyebrow. “Thought it was supposed to be tradition.”
“Yeah, I’m getting kinda’ sick of Rogers' princess movie obsession,” His eyes drifted upwards, thumbs twiddling. “You could go, though. If you want.”
Peter pulled back without missing a beat, eyes widening in comical fashion. “No, are you crazy? Lab night with pizza? When do I ever turn that down, Mr. Stark?”
An honest grin slid across Mr. Stark’s features. “Never.”
“That’s right.” Peter closed his eyes, leaning into the touch rifling through his unkempt locks. “Never.”
*
It didn’t make sense.
Did you know?
I didn’t know it was him.
Don’t bullshit me, Rogers!
Yes.
Peter watched, and still, nothing made sense.
He’s my friend.
So was I.
It. didn’t. make. sense.
*
Blinding white tore across the starless city sky in sharp erratic bursts, heated claws threatening to eliminate all in its path with each stroke of rampant rage. Ice-cold rivulets knocked mercilessly against bare skin, freezing the seconds ticking by as raddled sneakers thrummed upon asphalt, each reverberating cadence in perfect harmony with the furious anthem of unvoiced justice pumping through his veins.
Said anthem soared ever the more when the Captain’s door flung open, pounding hard at the seemingly bewildered face meeting his view.
"Peter? What's wrong?" The golden boy scanned him up and down, concern thick in his tone. "Why aren't you in your suit? Did something happ-"
Peter threw the answer up in his face, letting the phone explain everything as he panted over bent knees. The stark silence that ensued spoke for itself.
"Stevie, what's- oh." Him. No, Bucky. "Peter. You're- why don't we all come inside, yeah? Rain's pouring out here." The voice, so tender, not like. Not like him. Not. Him."I'll put the kettle on."
Which was how Peter ended up in one of Bucky's oversized shirts, settled opposite two war veterans, hands cupped round a mug of hot chocolate and eyes cast in a blatant show of quiet outrage.
"Explain," The anthem burned strong in him.
"Son-"
"Don't call me son."
"-this was all on me, alright?" Dejected tone, blonde head bowed over clasped hands.
Good.
“I- we disagreed on the Accords because-”
“I don’t care about that, Captain,” Peter set the mug down, flexing his fingers mechanically. “The Accords was rigged to begin with. Whatever that came after, shouldn’t be put on anyone but Ross, that I get.” He pressed a finger to the cracked screen of his phone. “No Captain, I’m talking about this.”
Captain Rogers stared at him with eyes so blue, but like the sick man in the video pointed out, there was a hint of green in that blue. A flaw.
“I’m sorry, Peter,” The captain leaned back into his seat, where Bucky’s prosthetic arm (that Tony Stark built for him) was stretched rigidly upon. “I thought that by not telling him, I was sparing him from the sorrow. But really, I was just sparing myself. I- I never meant for him to get hurt. And I’m sure, neither did he.”
Oddly, that last sentence was what pushed Peter over the edge.
“Neither did he?” His jaw clenched. “Neither did- are you seriously saying that right now? Of course he didn’t mean to hurt you! If he had any control over the situation, any control of the information that you withheld from him, he would not have done that.”
“I know, Peter.”
“Do you?” He hissed. “Do you really? Do you know the pain of losing your parents, of not knowing what the hell happened to them except that ‘They died in an accident’? Do you know the want, the pure want, to kill the piece of shit that took their lives, that walked free as you mourned their deaths? That ripped them from you, before you even got to know them?” His fists shook in tandem with the throbbing crescendo of his anthem. “Do you know, how Mr. Stark fought for you behind the scenes? How he wrote and rewrote proposals to alter The Accords, only to be rejected by Ross time and time again? How he hired lawyers and sometimes personally went to vouch for the others in the Raft? How he lost sleep at night, how he drank himself into oblivion, whimpering your name, begging me each time not to tell Mrs. Pepper or Rhodes, because apparently, it didn’t matter?”
Captain Rogers stiffened in his seat.
“Do you know?”
“No, son.”
“I’m not your son.”
Bucky remained a stock still statue by the Captain’s side.
Peter sighed, shoulders sagging. Deep breath, calm down. “Sorry.” The lingering pulse of anguish pushed to the back of his mind. “That was uncalled for. Sorry. ”
“Don’t be.” Bucky replied with haste.
Peter made another haphazard gesture towards their object of discussion. “Did you guys ever try talking to him about this?”
“I wrote him a letter.”
“Yeah, and sent him a burner phone, I know.” Peter snapped, tone sharp. “Scintillating ultimatum you gave him, by the way. He broke it in his fists after two whole months of drinking and staring.”
“Sorry.”
“Don’t say that to me, Cap,” His fingers tapped the mug handle almost frantically. “Say that to Tony. He needs to hear it.”
“It’s only two years for you, Peter, but it’s been seven for us. He might’ve- he might not want to hear about this anymore. We’re fine like this.”
“Bullshit. Don’t think I haven’t notice the way you both act with each other. You guys really need to solve this shit,” Peter mulled over his words, before adding, “By solve, I mean talk about it. Not punch the living daylights out of each other.”
Captain Rogers shrugged hopelessly. “We don’t talk about things like this. It’ll just escalate, and then we’d be throwing fists all over again. Might as well get that done without scarring our hearts more than it already has been.”
“Are you serious?” Muted wrath threatened to positively devour the mug in his hands. “Dude, we could have lost Tony in that war. He could have snapped his fingers, and that would have been the last we saw of him. Would you have lived with this then? Not talking about this, because neither of you can stop feeding your very physical ego for one goddamn second? Because neither of you were brave enough to listen?”
Again, the stark silence spoke for itself.
“You need to talk about this.”
“Look, son-”
“Damn it, Cap!” Peter roared, fists banging against the table. “Call me son one more time!” The mad beast reared its horrendous head, yanking his vocal chords to unrivalled heights, fuelled by the heated flames that grew larger and fiercer with each thunderous beat. It fed off the tension, the visceral need to rip, maw and absolutely pulverise anything and everything that it could find.
Reddened eyes, full of tears unshed, reflected one another transparently.
He couldn’t take this anymore.
“Honestly,” He stood, mug left untouched, voice barely over a whisper. “With all due respect, Captain Rogers. You’re a fucking dick.”
Peter left, door slam behind him, along with Captain’s echoed ‘Wait!’ and Bucky’s muted ‘Kid’s got a point, Steve.’
*
Peter thought that if he found the answer, everything would make sense. Or, at the very least, he would feel better about things not making sense.
Clearly, he had been wrong.
The first night he stopped searching, his phone rang like the house was on fire.
Mr. Stark had been the first to call. Followed by Colonel Rhodes, then Bucky, then Captain Rogers, then Dr. Banner, and then subsequently the rest of what his team was supposed to consist of.
He refused to answer. He didn’t care if his phone burst from being called 24/7. He didn’t care.
Instead, he spent the rest of his time doing what he did best - he looked out for the little guy. He threw himself in front of cars inches away from crashing into one another, saved kittens from trees, taught children how to look both ways before crossing the street, spent time with that tired old man sitting alone on the park bench every week.
And when he wasn’t doing this, he was with May. May and Happy, sometimes, but mostly May.
He did his homework, with May. He had breakfast, lunch and essentially all his meals, with May. He watched those cheesy soap operas he missed, with May. He did all the things he longed to do, mourning the years that he lost, with May.
“Are you okay, baby?”
Maybe it was her firm arms cradling his head, maybe it was her tentative whisper, but there was something about hearing May calling him baby that made a lump form in his throat.
“I don’t know.”
May hummed. “Do you want to talk to Tony about it?”
“No,” Peter sniffed. “Not for now.”
“Okay, baby,” May rubbed the back of his neck in a way that only she knew how. “That’s okay.”
He stopped going for movies and lab nights on the weekends.

bucko (4:03 a.m.) : Hey punk, stevie and tony talked it out for a while. wasn’t pretty but, it was necessary, I think. you’re a legend, kid
coolestdoctorr(4:23 a.m.): I heard what you did. We all needed that to happen eventually. Thank you for being the bravest of us, for acknowledging our flaws and for bringing our team together as best as you can. Take as much rest as you need, and if you need someone to talk to, I’m happy to listen. Stay safe, and we love you.
warmachineROX (4:29 a.m.): you did great, Peter. I’m sorry i said you couldn’t do this; those boys really needed a nudge. Thanks for doing what you did. Take care, kid.
so-you-got-detention (4:28 p.m.): Peter, I don’t think there’s anything I can say except I’m sorry. You’re right, I should have talked with him about this 7 years ago. I spent a couple long hours with Tony earlier this weekend. That hardly made up for anything, but we’ll work it out. Things aren’t perfect, we’ll get it better. We have you to thank for that. I know you’re angry with me, which you have every right to be, but know that if you ever need help, just call me. I’ll be there.
he’s stark, tony stark (5:01 p.m.): b at ur place in 5 mins[sunglasses emoji]

“Hey, Mr. Stark.”
“Hey, kid.”
“Steve mad at me?”
“Definitely not.”
“...You mad at me?”
A pause. “Not really, no,” Mr. Stark rubbed the side of his chin, tilting his head towards Peter. “Does it matter?”
“Yes,” Peter felt his lips shiver against his teeth, sheen of moist clouding his vision, head bowed low and voice crackling, “It does.”
Arms, one alloyed and the other so very real, quietly rolled themselves round his trembling frame, guiding his head towards the steady rise and fall of his hero’s chest, flesh thumb rubbing slow circles over his back, whispers of soft nothings soothing his hair and eventually, a light peck on the forehead.
They stayed like that for a while, beside Peter’s unmade bed, melancholic warmth emanating like cool salve on an open wound. It was comforting, that lack of sound, that silence that spoke the thousand words they couldn’t.
And then, the patented smirk. “You did good, kid,” His tone, so fond. “Friday probably thinks otherwise, though. She’s a little pissed, I think. Kudos for that, by the way. Real sneaky.”
Purely on a whim, Peter snorted, “Love you too, Tony.”
For a moment, it looked as though Tony might just melt into an emotional puddle of goo. Thankfully, he didn’t; Peter wouldn’t know what to do if he did. Instead, he sucked in a deep breath, squeezed Peter closer to his heart, and in a voice smaller than Peter had ever heard, muttered,“Lab night this Sunday?”
Peter, in all his glorious mess of tears and snot, broke into a wobbly laugh.
*
Always.

hello! could I request a first date scenario with tendou? thank you ♥️♥️♥️
An unexpected Tinder Date (ft. Tendou Satori) | Scenario
Hi! So so sorry to keep you waiting! I thought this was kind of a cute scene before I knew it was smiling my way as I finished it towards the end :). I hope you enjoy!!! Come back and request for more hehe
also fun fact the sweet potato cheesecake latte in this story is legit a real thing I experienced at a cafe once LOL. and yes, I did try it. I hated it. don’t do it.
Flipping through the photos of the profile, you took another glance at the dating app on your phone before you tried to match a red-dyed hair and tall figure in the cafe to the photos on your screen. Nervous to hold up the people rushing into the cafe behind you, you plopped down to the nearest seat by the window and texted your date.
2:50PM: “Hi! I think I’m here! Sitting by the window haha”
You didn’t expect a reply, considering that you came ten minutes earlier to prep yourself. It was your first Tinder date after all. If anything, him not arriving just gave you more time to calm your nerves and catch a breath. You scrolled through your conversation with this guy, double-checking to see if you had met at the right place and time. Quietly smiling to yourself as you chuckled back the silly messages the two of you exchanged. You’ve hit it off to a great start. For one, both of you were reading the same weekly Shonen manga, and given the fact that he played volleyball, you instantly had a flow of conversation to start with. This guy seemed promising.
3:07 PM: ETA? I already caught up to this week’s shonen! Lol
No response.
Locking your screen, you placed your phone down and stared out at the cafe counter. Where was this guy? The back of your head you were hoping he was just running late and hopefully, didn’t just forget about your date. Or even worse, flaked on you. Fixing the hem of your sleeves, you slowly walked over to the counter to begin looking at the menu.
“Let me guess, first Tinder date and the guy bails on you?” The barista turns around from the counter and tilts his head towards where you were seated. Huffing in defense, you cross your arms and take a step back from the cashier.
“N-not even! I’m early.”
“You were early. But you’ve been sitting there for fifteen minutes now and haven’t even bothered to order until now.” The barista raised his brows at you and gave you a grin. Adjusting the beanie on his head, he cleared his throat and the tone of his voice switched over to something more chirpy.
“What can I get ya?”
Realizing that there was no one behind you this time, you eased and glanced up to the menu and tapped your chin. Though it may have felt like an eternity for you, the amount of time you spent looking at the menu was unexpectedly enough for a new customer to walk in. Panicking, you quickly blurted out the last thing you could memorize on the menu.
“A hot, large sweet potato cheesecake latte please!” You exclaimed.
The barista blinked and stared at you before bursting into laughter. “A hot, large sweet potato cheesecake latte on a scorching hot summer day coming right up!” as he punched in your menu.
You quickly paid and rushed back to your seat. As soon as you sat down, you looked at the receipt and mentally slapped yourself. Why the hell is this even a drink on the menu? You were tempted to look at your phone again. Scared of being disappointed, you decided it was best not to. You’ve never been stood up before, so to experience in this moment felt completely bizarre and unsettling. If worse came to worse, this would be just a date with yourself. Concentrated on what else you could do for the rest of the afternoon, you didn’t even notice that your order had been placed in front of you, and the barista from earlier was sitting across from you. Resting his chin on his palm, he broke your silence. “A hot, large sweet potato cheesecake latte for this cute person who forgot to give me their name so now I have to personally deliver their drink to.” You rolled your eyes as you grabbed the drink from the table and took your first sip.
Instantly, you spat it out in disgust. “Holy crap. This is how I get diabetes.” You clicked your tongue and slowly backed down the drink. “HEY! I made that! To demonstrate your sweetness!” The barista argued. Both of you quietly stared at each other before cracking up in laughter, you didn’t care if your date walked in at this point. You just wanted to get your mind off everything.
“This has gotta be the worst drink ever. But the attempt to flirt was nice.” You smiled, looking up towards the barista, you noticed he was also blushing to your response. It was refreshing to be noticed. Soon, the two of you were chatting away. You were a bit slow to open up at first, but after some time it came to a point where you were practically shit-talking about how online dating sucked and how it left no ability for relationship growth or substance of some sort. The barista nodded along and joked with you how he would rather go on blind dates than those damn Tinder dates. To him, comparing blind dates was like eating an advent calendar while Tinder dates were like an assorted box of chocolates.
“You just pick which ones look good and then you try it right? But then it’s like-”
“Disgusting!” You finished his sentence and continued “And it’s always the plain-looking ones that are the best!”
“Exactly!” He laughed. You both threw your head back and held your stomachs, wheezing and huffing for some air. The whole cafe could hear you two. But no one cared. Especially not you two. You couldn't help but giggle as you watched him wipe what seemed to be tears from his eyes as he laughed with you. As he leaned back on his chair, he took off his beanie to comb up his red-dyed silky hair before speaking up again.
“Well my shift ends in about five minutes. If you’d like, I would love to take you out to dinner. Sorry to keep you waiting Y/N. I’m Tendou Satori.” He sat up again and smiled at you. You gaped at the man sitting before you. Immediately it clicked to you as you started to recognize the streak of red sticking out of his beanie. You almost felt enraged with the fact that your so-called Tinder date had tricked you this whole time. But the other part of you was thoroughly impressed that someone had the balls to actually pull this off so smoothly. Tendou Satori was definitely no ordinary man.
“I-It was you this whole time?!” You stood up, gawking as he took off his apron and swept the crumbs from his clothes. He nodded and apologetically grabbed your hand. He signaled his manager to clock out, and as the two of you left the door he swung his hands along with yours and finally said “Well since I’m considered an hour late, dinner, dessert, and the second date is on me!” he cheekily smiled.
Excited to continue your conversation over dinner, you nodded in agreement. Already you were contemplating and anticipating for the next chance to prank your Tinder date, Tendou Satori.

Jealous Much? - Peter Parker
word count: 2541 warnings: swearing summary: (y/n) is just a little bit jealous but Peter thinks it’s adorably unnecessary (a/n): this is really old lol
(y/n) was never really much for jealousy. She trusted her boyfriend, she knew he’d never do anything behind her back, and even if he did he’d feel incredibly guilty about it. It’s what made Peter Parker cute. He was so afraid of hurting her feelings that it made his stomach twist up and he’d apologize profusely. It happened just last week when they were supposed to have a movie night but he’d forgotten to but popcorn.
And of course she was never mad, how could she be? He was just so damn cute when he rambled on with ridiculous apologies and all she could do was smile and kiss him.
She was standing at her locker when the boy came up to her, smiling as soon as he’d seen her putting her things away. The usual sleepy look on her face since it was seven in the morning, and he’d learned quickly she was not a morning person.
“Morning beautiful” He called, and she turned around to smile at him, allowing him to kiss her cheek quickly. Public displays of affection made Peter nervous, but it was worth it to see her blush before looking down to hide her grin.
“Morning” She responded, her tiredness evident in her voice. “How was patrol last night?” She asked him quietly before shutting her locker and holding onto the strap of her backpack.
“Nothing happened” Peter shrugged. “Which I suppose is a good thing…” (y/n) giggled, shaking her head at him.
She’d only been dating Peter for a few months, but she’d known him since her and Ned met him in the first grade. He had tried to hide his secret identity from her, but Ned found out first and couldn’t keep the secret to himself. Though ultimately it’s what prompted Peter to tell the girl about his real feelings, and not long after the two of them became official. And she’s never been happier. But sometimes, the Spider-Man side of his life scared her to death.
“I’d say so” (y/n) replied, and Peter gave her that look. That completely adoring one, where his eyes were swimming pools of hearts. “You probably still got to bed late, huh?” She asked, looking over and seeing those eyes of his. “What?” Her eyes narrowed just a little, wondering why he was staring at her like that. “What? Why are you looking at me like that?” She asked again when he didn’t answer right away.
“N-nothing I’m listening to you” He shrugged innocently. (y/n) smiled bashfully, and dropped the subject. “But y-yeah I went to bed at like two in the morning”
“Jesus Peter” She sighed. “Seriously, you need to pace yourself a little” Her voice was soft, so no one would hear, and so he didn’t feel like she was pushing him.
“I know” He breathed. “Can’t help it” She smiled good naturedly at him, knowing he loved being a hero.
“Hey guys!” Ned came running up in between them, grinning happily at them both.
“Hey Ned” Peter said, giving him a slightly pissed off look for shoving him away from his girlfriend.
“Morning Ned” (y/n) said. “Why’re you all perky?”
“The new girl!” He whispered yelled. “Have you seen her?” He asked Peter, who shook his head. “Oh dear God she’s hot- no offense (y/n/n)”
(y/n’s) brows furrowed, her head shaking slightly as she looked at her friend, but didn’t say anything before he started talking again.
“Her name’s Dana, or Diana, or something” Ned went on. “And She’s gorgeous, like ten outta ten gorgeous”
“Cool” Peter mumbled, not really sure what to say. “Is she nice”
“Don’t know, haven’t talked to her yet” He said. “I’m hoping to, we have Chemistry together! I saw her schedule on Liz’s story so that people can be nice to her and stuff and man am I gonna be nice to her”
“Ned” (y/n) forced a chuckle, trying not to let on that her feelings were just little bit hurt.
“Go for it” Peter shrugged.
“Really? You think I could? I’m not like you”
“What does that mean?” Peter asked, clearly confused. And if (y/n) was being honest, she didn’t get it either.
“You’re the one with the girlfriend” Ned shrugged. “You know what you’re doing”
(y/n) held back a laugh. Peter never knew what he was doing.
“What?” Peter still seemed confused, but they were already at class and Ned cut off the conversation.
“That’s her” Ned whispered, nodding his head to the girl in the back.
“Woah” (y/n) murmured. Ned was right, she was hot. “She’s gorgeous” (y/n’s) voice dropped, and Ned seemed to realize she was put down.
“Don’t be one of those girls” He said as Peter went in and sat at his usual seat.
“What?”
“The kind that thinks you aren’t good enough” Ned explained, before walking in. (y/n) shook her head to get over it and came in to take her seat next to Peter.
“Everything alright?” He asked her.
“Yeah why wouldn’t I be?” She responded, clearing her throat and quickly trying to get out her Chem notes to et started in class and ignore the awkward feeling in the pit of her stomach.
“(y/n/n)-”
“Really, I’m alright. Just tired as always” She said, glancing at him quickly then back to her papers. Peter frowned, but didn’t want to push her so he let it drop.
“Alright everyone, get out your notebooks. We’ll be taking notes and then running a quick lab” Their professor said, starting class off right off the bat. (y/n) turned to look behind her at Ned, and behind him, Dana or Diana, she still wasn’t sure.
“Lab day” Ned said with a big grin. (y/n) rolled her eyes, unsure why Ned loved labs so much. Him and Peter always got so excited for them.
Notes went by relatively quickly, neither (y/n) or Peter talking. She was using her ‘hardworking’ note taking to her advantage, avoiding any form of confrontation that could happen. It was going fine until her phone buzzed on the desk.
[Ned] : oh no are u and peter fighting bc u haven’t talked
[(y/n)] : we’re fine
[Ned] : lies, why would u think he’d ever prefer some random girl over u
After that she put her phone in her backpack, turning to give Ned a look again.
“Miss (y/l/n)?”
The girl spun around, facing front again, her eyes wide as her teacher glared at her.
“Would you like to join the class now or are you in a serious conversation with Mr Leeds?”
(y/n) nodded her head quickly, cheeks blushing a bright pink in embarrassment as the class continued on. Peter looked over at her, chuckling quietly.
“Same thing happened last week” He said, causing her to smile a little bit but she didn’t say anything. This time not wanting to get into more trouble.
Once it was lab time, and she’d gotten her goggles on and ready to start ripping the tinfoil up to put in a solution, Peter was rambling about how he’d already known the observations that they were going to make. He knew something was still up, because she still wasn’t responding much to him.
What had happened? Just that morning she’d hugged him and talked to him, and now it was like something had happened in a snap. And of course he was worried and wanted to know what was going on, but he didn’t want to push her to open up either. So he did what he id best and rambled about chemistry until eventually she cut him off.
“Peter!” She finally called out, looking over at him, being all cute in his lab goggles and his hair all messed up from them. “I get it, the foil burns and the solution changes color” She chuckled quietly.
“Miss (y/l/n)”
Cursing silently, she looked back to her teacher after getting yelled at again.
“Mr Parker, back of the class with Dana for the day. Miss (y/l/n) you’ll be working by yourself today since you can’t seem to focus on your own”
“Yes Mrs Adreille” She mumbled as Peter packed up his things and walked to the back of the classroom. (y/n) turned around and watched as he got settled next to the new girl.
“Nice job” Ned snickered, and she narrowed her eyes at him.
She spent the entire last half hour of the class doing a lab all by herself, and listening to Peter’s distant laughter. Kicking herself repeatedly her pencil nearly broke as she was writing down her observations.
But she’d never really been one for jealousy.
“I swear to God I swear to God” (y/n) grumbled to MJ as they got their lunches from their lockers together. “She was batting her eyelashes Michelle, I’m gonna rip them out-”
“Okay breathe” MJ giggled to herself at the violent image in her mind. Sweet, soft spoken (y/n) plucking out a girl’s eyelashes. “Peter would never cheat”
“It’s not about cheating, it’s about some other girl hitting on my-”
She stopped speaking when she looked down the hall and saw her boyfriend walking alongside the girl she recently realized she despised. Her eyes narrowed to slits as she glared the girl down.
“Wow” Michelle’s eyes rolled. “Will you chill? You and Peter have only been dating a couple months”
(y/n) didn’t respond.
“I mean seriously, what’re you in love with-” MJ gasped loudly. “Oh, my, God”
“Shut up”
“No way”
“Don’t say anything”
“(y/n)!”
“Please don’t do this” The girl pleaded.
“You’re in love with Peter Parker? And I thought he’d be a virgin forever”
“MJ!” (y/n) scolded.
“Oh come on. You’re being crazy. Peter’s legit smitten by you, have you not seen the way he stares at you like you’re a goddamn piece of art? It’s. Cause. He. Knows You. Are. Art” She clapped in between her words. “Some random new girl isn’t gonna change that”
(y/n) still stayed silent as they walked into the cafeteria together. Ready to sit through an awkward lunch time only to leave and complain to MJ again. But again, she was greeted with a sight that made her blood completely boil.
“She’s at our fucking table” She practically growled out. Michelle’s bows shot up in surprise from her words, not having expected such a volatile reaction from her friend. “That’s it! Hold my lunch” She blindly handed her bag to Michelle, swiftly making her way towards where Peter and Ned were sat in their usual spots at the table, Dana sitting across from them. His eyes found hers, his face brightening as she sat in the seat next to him.
“Hey (y/n/n) how was Calc-”
He was promptly cut off by her hands grabbing his face and tugging his lips down against hers. A muffled sound coming from his throat but he kissed her back nonetheless. Sure it wasn’t the first time she’d kissed him this passionately, but no one else had ever been allowed to see it. His hands had set on her jaw, their lips still moving together in a spontaneous makeout session.
“Holy shit!” Ned exclaimed from next to them, while (y/n’s) hands ran through his tresses of hair and her tongue swiped over the seal of her lips. “They aren’t stopping! Pete! Hey Pete! Take a breather man!”
(y/n) pulled away with a small smirk on her lips, her eyes holding a mischievous glint that Peter had never seen there, but at this point he was fairly certain he loved it. His girlfriend straightened out his shirt and fixed his hair up all nice again, and wiped her lip with her thumb before looking over at the girl across the table.
“Who’s your friend Pete?” She asked, quirking an eyebrow at Dana, who was now staring between Peter Ned and (y/n) in absolute confusion and awkwardness.
“This is Dana. Dana, this is (y/n), the girl I was telling you about” Peter introduced awkwardly. He looked back to (y/n) wish raised brows and a pointed stare. She smiled bashfully, her heart fluttering at the idea of Peter telling someone about her. “Dana’s new here”
“Hi” The new girl smiled and waved nervously. After (y/n’s) very public affection there was a tension left behind that made everyone shift in their seats. “Nice to meet you, Peter sure talks a lot about you”
“You too” (y/n) squeaked, extending her hand and offering the kindest smile she could
“Anyways, I’ll see you guys another time hopefully. I’ve gotta meet my boyfriend in study hall” She smiled sweetly before getting up and heading off.
“B-boyfriend?” (y/n’s) voice nearly failed her as she looked over at Peter. Who still had that dumb look on his face.
“Yep. Dana was telling me in Chem how she was excited her parents moved here because this is the school her boyfriend goes to, and now she can see him more often” Peter said, a cocky grin growing on his lips. “And meanwhile I was telling her how lucky I was to have you at this school cause it would suck without you here. Cause… well yaknow. You’re the best” He shrugged simply, but his grin was still there.
She felt like an idiot.
“So, what was with the little show?” Ned asked, making (y/n’s) cheeks burn.
“Yeah (y/n/n) what was with the show?” Peter repeated.
“Shut up I was jealous” She mumbled under her breath.
“What was that? I didn’t quite catch it” Peter said. She mumbled again. “You’re gonna have to speak up hon-”
“I said I was jealous!” She snapped. “Sorry! It’s just… Ned kept going on about her and then- I just got in my own head and-”
Peter cut her off, kissing her lips chastely.
“You silly girl” He shook his head, the biggest smile on his face. “There’s no other girl in this whole galaxy I could love as much as you. Much less some random chick that just moved here” He said. And if she wasn’t already blushing, surely she was now.
“Can we forget it happened?” She asked hopefully, but Peter shook his head.
“Nope I don’t think I’m ever gonna forget it happened” He said, making her rol her eyes playfully.
“Yeah. Me either” Ned grumbled.
“Fine” (y/n) sighed. “I promise not to be stupid anymore”
“You’re not stupid, you were just being ridiculous” Peter chuckled. “Really, I can’t believe you let that get to you” He said, shaking his head and cupping her face in his hands. “Absolutely ridiculous” He said, kissing her again softly. She held back her smile, very much liking all the affection she was getting.
“I love you too, by the way” She told him, happy to be able to say it without her voice stuttering and failing her.
“You’re cute, but you made that pretty clear” Peter snickered, earning a jaw drop from (y/n) and a smack on the shoulder.
“Yeah. Very clear” Ned muttered, but the young couple ignored it, kissing softly again. “Very clear!”

Prologue
Chapter 1 - The Informant
'Liliana' the file said. I was tucked away in the locked bottom drawer of his old desk, the one he hadn't even had time to clear out when they'd sent him away. To be fair, Javier had only known to look because Murphy had called him to tell him about this informant. It sounded too good to be true. An informant coming to them of their own accord, ready to spill valuable inside secrets of the Calí cartel, and they didn't even want payment? One would be forgiven, in their line of work, to smell a trap. But Murphy had vouched for this one, and he trusted Murphy, knew that his partner (former partner) did his homework with due diligence. That, and the first batch of intel Murphy had brought back from their first few meetings had already proven invaluable.
There was apparently only one hiccup, and it was that the informant refused to talk to any agents other than him or Murphy. It had even led to Steve having to postpone his return to the States for almost two months, until it was clear that Javier would return to Colombia. Fair enough, he'd need to make up his own mind about them anyway. He collected the file and tucked it into the box that held all the stuff he'd cleared out of the desk, since he would now officially be moving a an office of his own.
Upon arriving in said office, he kicked the door closed and sat, lighting a cigarette and reaching for the file. As thin as it was, it still took him almost an hour to work through it, though half of the time was spent deciphering Murphy's chicken scratch mess of annotations. The rest was spent on making his own. After checking the time, Javier fetched himself a cup of the same old tar brew that passed for coffee here, lit another cigarette, and dialled Steve's new office number in Miami.
"Murphy."
"Alright, I've read the file." Javier started without preamble. Perhaps that was a bit short. He grimaced, then added, "About the informant. Liliana."
"Yeah, I figured." Steve exhaled probably puffing away at his own nicotine habit. Javier meant to quit, but kept pushing it off. The intent was all there was to it, at this stage. "So what're you calling me for, big boss?"
Javier elected to ignore the taunt, knowing it was friendly.
"You've met her. Is she legit?"
"Why, you smelling a trap?"
Pathological mistrust was a feature one acquired while on this job. Those who didn't ended up dead. Those who did would still end up dead, just later and more jaded. Either way you'd get a lot of other people killed on the way. "Just making sure."
They spent the next half hour and a bit going over the file together, comparing notes, catching up, thinking aloud - all of which were much easier to do when they had each other to bounce off of. It felt good, almost like old times. Javier went through close to a third of his pack of cigarettes, the air growing heavy in the windowless room. Just as well that it was almost time to wrap this up. A look at his watch told him that it was getting late in the day, and that Steve would want to get home to his family. All Javier could hope for at this point was avoiding resident CIA-asshole Bill Stechner on his way out, at least on this day.
"You won't be able to pull your usual shit with this one." Steve remarked, accompanied by the sound of shuffling papers. Javier bristled, even though he knew the things people said about him, both behind his back and to his face.
"What's that supposed to mean?" Knowing didn't mean it didn't, occasionally, sting, but he'd given up on trying to influence other people's minds long ago. A reputation once acquired was not easily shed, not that he'd made much of an effort to.
"It means that you shouldn't. Pull your usual crap with this one. For one I hardly think it'll be necessary."
"That would be new." Javier snorted. He could hear Steve's eyeroll through the phone.
"Still the same asshole-" Steve snarked. "I'm just saying be nice for once, especially since that woman's intel is the only reason you still have a job. She's a nice lady, so with a bit of luck some of that might even rub off on you."
"And I'm the asshole..."
"So everyone keeps saying."
"Fuck you, Steve."
"Go fuck yourself, Javi." Steve's chuckle told him it was all in good humor. "And don't fuck this informant."
"Yeah, yeah," Javier waved it off. The woman was an accountant, for fuck's sake. Note exactly his usual type. Or the type he usually attracted.
--- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- ---
They were meeting at one of the small restaurants lining the edge of Parque Sabaneta in Medellín. Over the phone her voice had sounded... hesitant, above all else. Tinny, too, but he blamed the connection for that. And he'd brought her a satellite phone for future contacts; her driving out to remote phone cells and him waiting for calls after hours in his office just didn't cut it.
There hadn't been a picture in the file, but Steve's description had been quite accurate and Javier was able to pick her out at the table she'd chosen before making himself known. Dark hair and darker eyes behind large, slightly old-fashioned glasses. She was almost tall and hid her figure underneath loose-fitted clothing; today a flowy blouse and high-waisted dress pants, and a bulky cardigan against the spring chill that lingered even into the late morning. Her hair was pulled back into a low bun that reminded him of his fifth grade math teacher, Ms Jenkins. Javier approached the table.
"Diana Rivas?" She froze for a split-second before relaxing again, returning his greeting softly. In real life her voice was deeper than he would have anticipated, raspier too, but not unpleasant - the kind of voice one would expect first thing in the morning, just after waking up.
"I do hope your drive was not too tiring, Agent Peña." she said as he sat. He grimaced slightly. The drive had been long, above all else. Not his first choice of how to spend a Friday morning. Well, he'd endured worse for this job. But next time he'd definitely travel by plane.
"Do they serve decent coffee here?" Javier scrubbed a hand over his burning eyes and settled, resuming his assessment. She squirmed slightly under his unrelenting gaze, but squared her shoulders after a moment, meeting his gaze head-on and motioning a waiter over with a flick of her delicate wrist.
"Of course they do, this is Medellín!" She sounded mildly offended, then ignored him in favor of telling the waiter their order. Javier took the time to observe her further.
No make-up, no jewellery, save for a simple, functional watch and a small silver locket on a long, thin chain. No wedding band either, but the paleness and indentation around her ring finger still indicated that she'd worn one in the recent past. Her features were soft and feminine, with high cheekbones and a pointed chin, all making her look younger than she purportedly was. His gaze caught on her defined cupid's bow just a second too long. Her complexion seemed far too sunkissed for someone who spent most of their time indoors, in air-conditioned office spaces. In conclusion, undeniably lovely to anyone with eyes who cared to look, but obviously taking great pains to discourage closer scrutiny, to look as mousy and plain as possible. It worked, to a degree.
It occurred to Javier that maybe he should actually talk to her, since that's what he'd come here for.
"Do you always begin your interrogations with the silent treatment? I can see how that might be effective." She beat him to it, just before the coffee cups were set on the table in front of them.
"This isn't an interrogation." he groused, taking a tentative sip of the coffee. The scent of it alone was enough to wake the dead; it was heavenly. He'd have to see if he could weasel some halfway decent coffee out of his budget at the office.
"Regardless, I only have until noon today. We can meet again tomorrow; I can make myself available all afternoon for you, Agent Peña."
Javier huffed out a breath before taking another sip. "Why can you suddenly do Medellín anyway? You had Murphy travel across half the country to meet you."
She made a face at that, something between annoyed and apologetic. "My aunt, she... she's sick and been getting worse. I make the time to come down here every other weekend now to help her."
"And your employers are alright with that?" He hadn't exactly pegged the Calí cartel for employers of the year. Or to pioneer part-time models so their employees could care for sick relatives.
"As long as the work gets done, yes. It means I work ten to eleven hour days Monday to Thursday, but I am the only one left in this family..." She sniffled a little and swept the tips of her fingers under the plastic rim of her glasses, wiping at her eyes. Javier looked away, pretending it was to give her privacy. He imagined this unusually forthright woman walking up to Pacho Herrera to ask for reduced work hours so she could care for her aunt- That could really have gone either way, but somehow he thought that was probably not how it happened, or whom she'd asked. He just couldn't picture it. Maybe one of the brothers; they liked to style themselves as charitable family men, to a degree.
"Anyway, Medellín's closer for you, and we're less likely to be found out here. They like to keep security pretty tight in Calí. My friend Angelika calls it the Calí Stasi, and she's from the former East Germany, so she'd know."
He hummed in acknowledgement, his coffee almost gone and him almost feeling like a living human being again. He flagged the waiter down for another.
"In any case, I am glad that we can keep this to Spanish now. My English is not very ...confident." She prattled on, sipping from her own cup. Murphy had told him that she'd brought a dictionary to their first meeting, and apparently, with his former partner's dismal language skills, they'd actually needed it.
"I'm sure your English is better than Murphy's Spanish." Steve had told him as much, but then again, Steve's Spanish was shit, so it really wasn't saying much. There was something else niggling at the back of his mind.
"Why me?"
Her glasses slid down her nose half an inch or so in surprise at his -admittedly abrupt- question. "I'm sorry?"
"Murphy said you wanted to speak to me specifically when you first called. Why?"
She hesitated a moment, squirmed a little and averted her eyes, then pushed her glasses back up her nose before answering, softer than before. "Gabriela said you could be trusted."
"...Gabriela?" He said sharply, neck flushing at the thought of the beautiful redhead.
She shrunk in on herself, hands fidgeting nervously in her lap. Perhaps his voice had come out a little bit harsher than intended. He hadn't even thought that she'd actually tell him her real name. He'd just been a client after all.
"Yes," Miss Rivas breathed out, her voice so soft now that he had to lean halfway across the table to even catch it. "She's my best friend. We've been inseparable since the firts day of school. We tell each other everything. She told me she knew a DEA agent; that's why I told my cousin to go to her when she ran into trouble with Pablo Escobar-"
"Your cousin???" He almost roared. It came out as more of a whisper-yell, but she still flinched, eyes going wide behind the lenses.
"Yes, my cousin," she said carefully, "Maritza Rincón."
"Maritza–" he patted his pocket for a smoke and swore under his breath when he remembered how he'd left them in the car with the intention of advancing his 'quit smoking'-idea beyond idle talk. "What is this, a fucking trap? Very elaborate setup just to yell at me, missy. Unless you've got some buddies of yours here to–"
"What- what are you *talking* about? I don't blame you for Maritza's death!" By now people were staring. Not a lot of them, since it wasn't really the time yet for the midday crowd and too late for the morning rush, but the few pensioners and whatnot were definitely sensing the tension at their table. Javier gave up on his cigarette search and took a deliberate breath, willing himself to calm down.
"Maritza is dead?" He hadn't known that. He wasn't sure how he would have learned of it, but it still shocked him regardless. He looked over to see her fidget with her locket, lips pressed tight and trembling. Shit. Another informant on his conscience, fucking great.
"I'm sorry, I didn't-" he started, his voice catching. He bought himself time with his now lukewarm coffee, "Look, I'm sorry. I didn't know that. I-"
"It's alright." She whispered, in a tone of voice that clearly indicated it wasn't. She swept her glasses off with trembling fingers and pressed beneath her eyes, as if to restrain the tears that pooled in her lashes.
"I'm sorry." Javier said again, insistent, soft, sincere. "What happened?"
"We- I don't know. She called me to say she was in trouble with Escobar, and I helped her set up the meeting with Gabi."
"With me." He remembered that evening, that young girl sitting in Gabriela's apartment, ready to be sprung on him. Part of him had resented it; Gabriela had been someone he'd sought out to get away from the damn narcos and their dealings. Miss Rivas nodded.
"Yes. It was that idiot Jhon. He was one of the neighborhood kids. Growing up he'd always had a crush on her..." She talked a lot, he found. It should irritate him more, the way she'd throw in seemingly irrelevant asides without explaining further. Instead he only found himself worrying that someone so pathologically honest could not possibly keep the Gentlemen of Calí off her tracks, at least not if she kept spilling her life story so eagerly.
" ...and then she hid out on her uncle's farm again, where my auntie - her mom - grew up and went back to after my uncle - that's Maritza's dad - died of a heart attack. Auntie had been out for the day and when she came back- "
He can't bear to listen to it, but forces himself to anyway. In the sea of his regrets, what's one more? Besides, there's nothing else he can do for the girl now; the least he can do is witness how he failed her.
For all her unassuming bluntness, Diana Rivas is not one to hold back, even on unsavoury details. At least he doesn't get the sense that she does it to torment when she tells him how they found Maritza's lifeless body with her young daughter next to her.
By the end of that sorry tale, he has his head in his hands, Miss Rivas is still just this side of openly weeping, and all the other patrons have demonstratively averted their attention so as not to impose on what must, on the outside, look like an urgent case for a damned good couples' counselor.
"I'm sorry, I know this is a lot." And why in the hell is she apologizing?
"No shit." And yeah, he has to digest this before he can even think of making any attempt at non-destructive human interaction. "You couldn't tell Murphy any of this?"
She gave him a look.
"Yeah, alright. Sorry." More than just a language barrier, got it.
"I didn't come here today with the intention to relive this, you know?" She said archly. He supposed she had all the right to be upset. And he'd never had a meeting with an informant turn this harrowing, which was really saying something.
"I'm sorry." He said again, putting the weight of sincerity behind the words. Her hands were in the table now, fidgeting again as she sat slightly hunched over, staring into her coffee cup.
"Unless your government has a time machine to spare, I would prefer not talking about it again. At least not more than necessary." She replaced her glasses and checked her watch. "1 pm tomorrow?"
Javier nodded dumbly, already plucking a few bills out of his wallet to pay for the coffee. "Yeah, 1 pm is okay. Where?"
"Meet me at the church. Santa Ana. You know it?" He didn't particularly, as in he didn't know its name before now, but he could see the building's tall white facade from where they were sitting.
"Iglesia de Santa Ana, 1 pm tomorrow." Javier confirmed, rising as she did. The stared at each other for a moment, unsure of how to conclude this meeting, until she stuck her hand out for him to shake. He took her smaller, slender hand in his, squeezing it wordlessly.
"Until tomorrow, Agent Peña." She said, managing a sad little smile. "I hope you'll get some rest. You look like shit."
Javier bit down every one of the snarky replies that sprung to mind, not least because he knew it was true. His bags had bags and he itched for a smoke.
And to think, this was Murphy's 'nice lady'.
--- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- ---
Somehow it hadn't occurred to him that at the church meant inside the church. Not until a very miffed face peered out between the heavy doors, giving him a look as he stood there smoking.
"It's barely been five minutes!" Javier defended himself, stubbing out the cigarette beneath his heel.
"It's 1:07pm." She informed him matter-of-factly, pushing the glasses back up her nose pointedly as she made to turn back inside. Javier caught the door, crowding perhaps a bit too close, but the damned thing was heavy.
"Sorry." He said simply, seeing no point in making a scene out of it. She had to crane her neck just the slightest bit to meet his gaze.
"Wait here, I'll be out in a minute." And with that she stalked off. Javi watched her sweep down the aisle, her hair and skirt fluttering behind her. She wore her hair loose today, the ends of it curling around her shoulders, and a simple off-white shirt dress that reached down to mid-calf. He let his eyes trail after her, leaning his weight more fully against the heavy wood of the door to lever it open. She walked around two thirds of the way down the pews before stopping by a... baby carriage?
She bent over it before carefully wheeling it around and starting back towards the door. Javier racked his tired brain. The file hadn't said anything about a kid. Married five years but no children. That didn't seem like the kind of thing one would easily miss, and he knew Murphy to be thorough in his inquiries.
"Who's this then?" He peered inside the carriage -more of a buggy really now that he got a closer look- and barely caught a glance of a dozing toddler with soft brown curls, while hoisting the door open wider to let her pass more easily. "Didn't know you had a kid."
"I don't." The buggy caught on the threshold and jolted, and a displeased cry came from inside it, making her curse under her breath. "This is Maritza's daughter, Salome. I've got it! Just- the door, just get the door!"
The last part of that came out high and sharp, much like the crack of a whip, and in direct response to Javier's attempt to swoop in and help heave the buggy over the worn-down threshold. He jolted back on instinct, grunting when the door swung squarely into his spine. Who the hell was responsible for all these old-ass church doors being solid enough to squash an actual living human between them?
After some fumbling they managed to make it out with most of their dignity still intact. Javier bent down and quickly shoved the bag he'd brought into the wire basket underneath the buggy's seat, next to her purse.
"Where to?" He asked, straightening up again. Miss Rivas still looked cross, her lips pressed together.
"Follow along. There are some secluded benches a little walk away." And off she was, leavin him to catch up.
"If your intention is to disguise this meeting as just another family enjoying the sun I suggest you slow down a little." Javier hissed under his breath. He'd actually had to jog a bit to keep up with her steamroller pace. She looked even more annoyed and declined to grace him with an answer, but slowed with a sigh that told him that this was indeed her intention. It was a smart enough plan, he wouldn't dispute that.
At least the kid seemed to have calmed from her little jostle-startle, seeing as she was now quietly babbling away as if narrating the sights. Javier tried to loosen his tense shoulders and to look like he was enjoying himself as they fell into step ambling along the walkways between the lush greenery.
"How old is she?" he asked, thinking that perhaps some small talk would ease the woman's sullen mood.
"Almost two and a half." Or not. Well, he tried. Javier wasn't exactly an expert with kids and none of his previous informants had ever shown up with theirs. Not that that would have been appropriate considering the circumstances. They walked for about a quarter of an hour, which Javier spent agonizing about how to smooth over the sudden mood change Miss Rivas was displaying compared to the day before. By the time they'd made it to their destination he was no closer to that goal.
She sat with a weary sigh, shaking out her flowy skirt before sitting and rolling her sleeves up to her elbows. It was much warmer today than when they'd met previously, only in part due to the later hour. Stiffly, Javier sat down next to her at a distance that instantly belied their 'family outing' cover. She turned to him after checking on the baby, peeling back the sunshade of the buggy to allow her to look around.
"You can smoke if you want to." Miss Rivas said offhandedly, her tone forcedly polite. Javier cleared his throat.
"I'm actually trying to quit."
Her lips quirked into a pleasant curve. "And how's that going?"
Javier sighed. "I'm thinking I might have chosen the wrong time."
"Or the wrong job."
The laugh that bursts forth from him is short, but not altogether hollow. "Yeah, or that."
"Very well, then you may not smoke even though you might want to."
Javier smiled. Couldn't help it, really. He had been worried that he'd somehow managed to offend her during their last meeting. He said as much, and she shook her head with a look of remorse.
"No, it's not your fault. It's just..." She pushed her glasses up and rubbed at her eyes, revealing the dark rings that had previously been hidden beneath the plastic rim. "Yesterday dredged up some things, and I didn't sleep well as a consequence. That always makes me snippy. And to top things of, this one," she leaned over to unbuckle the child and heave her into her lap, "was being fussy all morning, which didn't help. Sorry for being so short with you earlier."
"In this job, people usually shoot at me. It's alright, really. You're alright." Truth be told, he was glad she pulled herself out of this funk. Maybe she was as nice as Murphy claimed after all. The kid looked at him with large, round, strangely sage eyes. I got your mommy killed. I got your mommy killed and you had to watch. If he had gotten her that visa- The thought made him gulp, made him dizzy and nauseous and if there was anything to be glad for in this situation it was that he was already sitting down. Miss Rivas replaced her glasses and looked at him with furrowed brows. He felt like he was being read.
"I already told you that I don't blame you for Maritza." Javier tried his damnedest not to squirm underneath that discerning stare. Screw read, he felt like he was being flayed open. "Obviously you still blame yourself."
"Wouldn't you?" He shot back, defensive. She didn't answer for a moment, gently rocking the kid who had grabbed a hold of her locket and started to play with it.
"I have enough regrets of my own, Agent Peña." Part of him wants to scoff, even just to dispel the heavy moment, but the severity in her tone nips that impulse in the bud. Instead, he clears his throat and gestures to the buggy where he stored his bag earlier.
"I brought you something."
Her features soften into not quite a smile, but something close enough. "What a coincidence, so have I."
And then she hands him the toddler, who lets out a displeased cry at having her toy wrenched from her chubby hands in so unceremonious a manner, and Javier freezes as her squirmy weight is settled in his lap, only his hand shooting out to steady her on instinct. Up close her big brown eyes are even more enormous.
"Um, hi. Nice to meet you, Miss Salome. I'm Javier." He says awkwardly and is met with a pout. This is patently terrible and reminds him of the few times he'd been handed baby Olivia. She'd started crying instantly nine times out of ten. He hopes against hope that today will be a deviation from that norm. Salome considers him a long moment, blinking owlishly and making that certain kind of skeptical face that little kids so often do. He's had less tense moments in interrogations. He might be sweating in a way that has little to do with the midday heat.
And then Salome blows him a raspberry and dives for his wrist to investigate the shininess of his watch. And when he can breathe again he allows himself a smile. Of relief, mostly. In stark contrast to the smile Miss Rivas wears as she regeards them both, which is pure mischief with a dash of smugness.
"Well look at that. You passed muster, Agent Peña." Miss Rivas set both their bags down in the space between them, then leaned over to press a quick kiss to little Salome's soft curls. And Javier has been much closer to many women than this; his heart shouldn't lurch at the sudden proximity, the waft of her perfume or the light brush of her soft hair over his bare forearm.
"Ladies first." Javier gestured at the bags between them. She smiled and rummaged through hers, producing two thick stacks of folded papers, either parcel secured with a rubber band.
"Trade you?" she motioned at the girl, who was now intently examining the fingers of his right hand. Reluctantly, he let Miss Rivas pluck the small child from his lap and stand her next to the bench. Salome frowned adorably for a moment at having been interrupted in pulling his pinky finger off, then realized she was free to roam around and brightened instantly, hitting the bench a few times with chubby palms and babbling.
"Yes, of course I have your toy, sweetie." Miss Rivas said earnestly, presenting a brightly colored ball. Salome grabbed for it with a squeal, her momentum propelling her straight onto her backside. Miss Rivas turned back to Javier with that soft, fond expression still on her face and handed him one of the parcels.
"Do... did you want to go over this? While I'm here to explain things?"
"That complex, huh?"
"Well, it's a lot to do with creative book-keeping and tax law loopholes. It's more about how they structure their business to launder their incomes than anything else, but it'll still be helpful in building a case, no?"
It is, which is the whole reason he's been sent back here apparently. And while it's nothing the analysts back at the office can't handle (probably), he still likes being in the loop. And also maybe because he enjoys the sound of her voice. In any case he peels off the rubber band and unfolds the stack of papers, keeping a careful hand around it to ensure that nothing blows away in the spring breeze. Miss Rivas pulled out a pencil from her purse and shuffled closer. Close enough that he can smell her perfume again. - - - Over the following hour and a half Javier realized several important things:
One. Diana Rivas is likely one of the cleverest people he has ever met. By page eight his head is swimming with numbers, but her even explanations make even tiered corporate tax rebate systems sound fascinating. Even in his line of work, he'd never truly considered accounting to be the stuff of suspense, but she makes it sound like a thriller that even the brightest heads in Hollywood would have trouble coming up with.
Two. Having to do anything while keeping an eye in a rambunctious small child who is still learning to walk is a uniquely stressful experience. Little Salome is bouncing around the small patch of grass in front of the bench much like her ball, endowed with seemingly endless reservoirs of energy. She crashes into his knee a few times while chasing her ball or deciding that playing hide and seek underneath the bench is a better use of her time, and it puts him on edge that he feels responsible at all.
Three. The Rodríguez brothers make more than enough money from their few legitimate businesses to never have to worry themselves financially. Not that this had been in question, technically, but to see the numbers in black and white is still galling, even if he's not nearly as incensed about it as Miss Rivas seems to be. And while Javier is far from a religious man, he does consider greed that is levered with blood to be at least distateful.
Four. It's not her perfume he smelled earlier, but her shampoo, bright and fruity, with high notes of citrus.
Five. As long as this is all they have and all she can get, the DEA cannot make a move against the Calí cartel. His orders had been very clear on that. Nail them down beyond escape and make absolutely sure you get them into custody, in that order. It means that whatever Miss Rivas can reveal about the inner financial working of the cartel is valuable, but on its own won't be enough. As always in this job it's sorting through a haystack with a rake in search of needlepoints.
Which brings him to the next thing he needs to ask her. Needs to ask her to do for him, and the operation, to be specific, and he can already tell she'll say yes eagerly. Eager informants should be a blessing, but their eagerness seems to directly correlate with their likelihood of getting killed, or close enough.
"This is for you." He says instead, handing her the satellite phone. There's directions that go with it, but he takes the time to walk her through it nonetheless. Also his numbers, both office and home, just in case. He watched as she carefully tucked everything into her purse.
It's later in the afternoon now - past three - and Salome comes toddling over, handing Javier her ball and sitting down on the grassy ground with a world-weary sigh.
"Okay, time for your nap I think, young lady." Miss Rivas plucked the child from the ground and stood to deposit her back in the buggy, then holding out her hand to him expectantly. He hands the ball over after a split-second of dumbstruck hesitation.
"Well, goodbye then, Agent Peña."
He stood. Offered her his hand to shake, which she took. "I'll call you during the week. What time is good for you?"
"Any time between seven and ten. I'll probably be in Medellín again in a month. I'll let you know if I have more intel by then." He nodded, finally releasing her hand after realizing he still had her fingers clasped in his. She smiled and turned to leave, wheeling the buggy around from its resting position and onto the footpath. "Oh, and Agent Peña?" She turned halfway, throwing the words over her shoulder with a smirk. "Gabriela won't be available tonight, just so you know. We're meeting for dinner and general catching up."
His neck flushed hotly, both despite and because he'd had no intention of visiting her.
"Thanks," he said stiffly, "Give her my best."
"Will do!"
Shaking his head, Javier watched her retreat until she disappeared from view behind a bend in the path.

Further author’s note bc apparently I have more to say:
I’m gonna play a bit fast and loose with the timeline, because the show makes it look like Javi was sent back pretty much immediately and it only took those ~6 months to take down the cartel bosses, but in reality Escobar died in December of 1993 and the Calí godfathers weren’t arrested until summer of ‘95, so I’m sending Javi back to Colombia in the first half of ‘94 (April to be specific), meaning the time frame for this story is about a year
also I thought Maritza’s daughter in the series was still a baby, but upon rewatch it is actually stated in s2 ep4 that she’s two, and now I had to rewrite those parts. As to why she doesn’t speak, that’s actually something that will come up later and has nothing to do with my bad memory of the series. though tbh I probably assumed that because Olivia was a baby for like three years. (also according to the timeline I determined Maritza’s daugher would actually be between three and four at this point, but I’m going to disregard that. I’ve already had to age her up once and for the purposes of this story I need her to be still this little)

______
“How’s he doing?” you asked as soon as the surgeon came out of the operating room.
“He’ll make a full recovery,” he said, relief flooding through you. “His injuries weren’t as extensive as the other stabbing victim. Mr. Winchester needs to rest and recover here for a few days but his injuries aren’t life threatening.”
“Can you tell me if you saw any similarities between the two?” you asked.
“Mr. Kline’s injuries were deeper. At first we thought there may have been a second weapon involved but it appears, based on Mr. Winchester, your culprit makes smaller incision firsts before they go back over them with more force, cutting deeper on the second go around,” he said.
“Any ideas on the kind of blade? A surgical scalpel? A-”
“My best guess would be your run of the mill kitchen knife, something with a sharp point and slightly serrated edge, like for cutting meat,” he said.
“Thanks, Doc,” you said.
“Your other vic, Mr. Kline, made some improvements today,” he said. “I expect he’ll be just fine.”
“Thank you,” you said, stopping short. “Doc, could...could you not share that information with anyone else?”
“Why?” he asked.
“Because I asked,” you said, the Doc squinting his eyes. “At least hold off on sharing it for a few hours.”
“A few hours, Detective,” he said with a head nod as he walked away. About ten minutes later you were in ICU, checking on Jack when you heard John storm down the hall.
“Y/N!” he shouted at you. “Get your ass out here!”
“John,” you said calmly as you pulled Jack’s door shut. “This is a hospital. Jack needs to rest and-”
“I told you to watch him!” barked John.
“I secured my apartment and the culprit got in anyways,” you said, John’s face growing redder by the second. “I spoke to the doctor. Sam will be fine.”
“I don’t give a fuck! My son almost died because you couldn’t do the one job you had!” he shouted. He grabbed you by the arm and tugged you down a quiet hallway into an empty room, chest heaving. “Dean...I didn’t want to believe it either but my Sammy almost died. I need to know that if it comes down to it, you’ll do what needs to be done.”
“We don’t shoot on site,” you said.
“You’re right. We don’t. But Dean is…” he said, taking a deep breath.
“Dean’s what, John?” you said.
“A killer. There’s something...wrong with him. I’ve known it since he was a small child. He was different. For years I wouldn’t face it,” said John. “I thought about taking Sam and Mary away from him but couldn’t do it. Then...then I came home one day and he’d snapped.”
“You’re out of your fucking mind,” you said, John squeezing his eyes shut.
“I wish I was. Maybe they got in a fight, maybe he just finally acted on it but she was dead and Dean was on the phone with the police,” said John. “And I helped him cover it up.”
“You what?”
“He left the weapon by her body. I grabbed it, cleaned it up and hid it in his room, told him I’d take care of everything because I couldn’t confront the fact that he did it. So I helped protect him and tried to keep him in line ever since,” said John.
“I know what you did to those boys John,” you said, cocking your head. “I know how you treated them.”
“If being the strictest asshole on earth kept Dean in check, I’d do it,” said John. “It worked too. He was normal for a while. Until he went away to school, until he found you. Kid, for years I waited to get a call that he’d done it again...to you.”
“You’re saying, Dean, killed Mary? That he tried to kill Sam? Went after Jack?” you asked, crossing your arms. “He did all that?”
“Yes. He just...he doesn’t remember he did it. He...the knife was still where I put it years ago yesterday morning. I moved it. After he went after you-”
“He didn’t,” you said, John shaking his head. “John, he wouldn’t.”
“He just snaps, it’s not like it’s really him when he does that shit. I tried...I tried to convince myself that I was so backwards about Mary, that it had to be someone else that I called in a favor with a friend. They used to have an investigation on Mary’s killer going, but somehow Dean ended up on the team and I think he’s just used it as an excuse to take care of those urges. It’s just too much for him now and he’s just trying to wipe away everyone on the team, get rid of Sam or me or you,” said John.
“Yeah, right,” you said. “Oh, that sounds totally legit, doesn’t it?”
“Y/N, I’ve spent so long trying to tell myself he wasn’t bad. I should have helped him but I can’t go back and change it now. I just need your help to stop him before he hurts someone else,” said John.
“Dean’s not a killer,” you said.
“Fine. I’ll deal with him,” said John, rolling his eyes. “Try not to let Sammy die in the meantime.”
“John,” you said, John out of the room before you could get out another word. “Goddamn Winchesters.”
You sat down on one of the beds, pulling out your phone to give Dean the heads up his dad was hunting him.
“I told you to watch him!” barked John.
“I secured my apartment and the culprit got in anyways.”
You stopped typing to Dean, trying to think of how someone could have gotten inside. There was obviously the front door but even if they’d managed to pick the lock and deadbolt, you didn’t remember the chair not being where you’d left it propped up there. The only other option was your fourth floor bedroom window next to the fire escape. But the odds that someone slipped in past both you and Dean unseen, attacked Sam and slipped back out…
Then there was the fact Dean had blood all over him.
If you can, meet at dad’s asap.
You stared at your phone, shaking away the doubt John had tried to plant there and headed for the Winchesters.
The house was dark when you got there. The back door was open, the door down to the basement open and a small light shining up.
You pulled out your gun, quietly going down the stairs, whipping around the corner with it raised, Dean and John both in front of you, Dean sighing.
“Take a seat, Y/N. We have some things to get out in the open.”

What are some of the tvd to fandoms greatest hits so to speak... I was only in it for a short time and then jumped out because I couldn't stand to
Oh, well allow me to be your guide. This will be under a read more because I already know, I’m gonna write a whole essay. Shout out to my ride or die @hellsbellschime.
I don’t think any overtly crazy happened during the good!TVD years. No wait, I’m lying.
The year the spin-off got announced, I believe it was tvguide, that posted an article with like info tidbits for currently airing shows. And one of them, was that Hayley was pregnant with Klaus’ kid. I remember this shit so clearly, man. Everyone was so confused. And then they were like SURPRISE, APRIL FOOLS. Because it was in fact April 1st. So ha-ha we all had a laugh, great. Fastforward to what, late April? Episode 4x20 airs, and it’s exactly what happened???
That whole day btw, the day the backdoor pilot for TO aired was just insanity. I’ll say that about a lot of days in this answer, but that day was really just something else. Like we were delirious, that’s the only way I can explain what happened on here. It was a nightmare but also one of the funniest night’s I’ve ever spent on here. I gotta go back for old time’s sake and reblog some of the shit from that night because we all snapped. And not in the good way.
The TVD 100th. Now, we knew Joseph was coming back for that episode so they hype was real. Because up until that point, we’d gotten a huge load of nothing in regards to Klaroline. They released a trailer, a short one, that’s still in my favorites folder on youtube to this day. I rewatch it all the time because it’s iconic. And there was literally .002 seconds of Klaroline. It’s Caroline standing and then Klaus says “hello, caroline” and everyone lost their shit so much when it dropped that ‘hello caroline’ trended ww on twitter.
THE DAY THE NETWORK THAT AIRED TVD IN AUSTRALIA AIRED A PROMO WITH THE KLAROLINE KISS IN 5X11. ICONIC. I literally woke up, logged on at around 11 AM my time, and my dashboard was on fire. It was the BEST. We didn’t know wtf to do, it was amazing.
Paleyfest. Ohhhh buddy, lemme tell ya. So TVD/TO got chosen to have the CW panel’s at Paleyfest that year. Everyone was on a bit of edge because TO to that point was what, almost done with S1 and Klaroline had been given the mega cold-shoulder despite being the very thing other than the Mikaelson’s that got used to lure people in? After the pregnancy plot from hell, everyone was ready to peace tf out, but we got halted because it was a ‘ohh of course it’s gonna continue’ then they tried to nip Klaroline in the bud with 5x11 and no one was having it. So Paleyfest was where we were gonna get some ANSWERS, DAMMIT. I live on the east coast and the festival was held in the west coast so I wasn’t awake when it was happening. I remember making a post about how ‘going to sleep, and hoping when I woke up the answers were good.’. So I went to sleep, woke up a few hours later like 2-3 AM my time, and checked my blog and the first message I had was ‘don’t wake up stephanie, everything is a mess, stay asleep where everything’s fine’ I—
The gist of that was, they basically set JoMo up to be the bad-cop in shutting down Klaroline. He gave this long answer that made absolutely zero sense. The girl who asked the question about Klaroline, who was like 13 at the time, got called a bully for even asking a question at an event she paid to be at. A mess. And JP was like NO CROSSOVERS, ORGANIC, BLAH BLAH. And Paul was sitting next to her going “why can’t the show’s just intersect”, he was right and he said it.
I can’t remember if this was S1 or S2, but somebody tweeted something and Carina replied ‘when you’re found dead in your basement with klaroline written on you this is why’ or something like that, that was a ~fun~ night. And then like half an hour later she was like “I’m sorry, I’ll never tweet about Klaroline again just leave me alone” if you’ve ever seen this fandom refer to ourselves as basement dwellers, this night is why.
NARDUCCI. Can’t forget him. Talk about a man who just didn’t get it. And I don’t mean Klaroline, he just didn’t get anything, nothing in his head has ever clicked, I’m convinced. He used to pick fights on twitter repeatedly. Admitted once that he missed his flight because he was on twitter…arguing with a fan. AND ONE DAY, he decided to just—snap. Went on this hours long tirade against the Klaroline fandom, essentially calling everyone stupid because no one was appreciating the ‘art’ of the show. So when I say it lasted hours, I mean that. Now, you’d think, that he would be done, right? WELL, apparently that wasn’t enough, so the next day, he continued. I remember because I was in this gc on whatsapp, and I remember Erika sending a message to the gc going “omg, Narducci vs KCers round 2″ when I tell you I screamed. The man went on a two-day rampage against this fandom and it was insane.
S6/S2 of TVD/TO was not a fun time. I can genuinely say it was borderline a chore to come on here during that time. It wasn’t fun, every day someone was in argument with someone from production on twitter. Truly the worst year of the fandom, imo. So S7/S3 rolls around and that’s where shit went nuclear.
Hillary and I, are minding our own damn business, when someone come’s to us with information regarding the new seasons. This was post-SDCC, so it’s like the lull of September, waiting for the seasons to start in October. And we get approached with information, talkin bout how Caroline’s gonna be pregnant with Alaric’s twins in S7. When I tell you we didn’t know wtf to do. And we had to like wait on confirmation about it but then we found out it was legit and we were pissed. Literally ask us if we wanted to be in the spoiler game, the answer is no tf we did not. And she and I basically spent two days complaining. LIKE UGHHHH WE DON’T WANNA DO THIS, BUT ALSO THIS IS DISGUSTING, WE CAN’T JUST LET THEM SPRING THIS ON EVERYONE, BUT AGHH WHY US. So we chose collectively, as a duo, because das my other half yo, to blab.
That went over as best as anyone could hope for it to go. Now, flashforward yet again, this time to around late Novemeber/December. I had been sent word that something was going down. TVD/TO lost their Thursday slots and got bumped to Friday’s, so a plan was going on, and they made one. We’d heard that they were rearranging something mid-season because they were gonna make a crossover work, publicly we found out it would be Paul and JoMo that crossover back-to-back. THEN ONE NIGHT—I call it black friday bc that day was a fucking mess—, a friend of mine was friends with an SCer, I wanna say, and she was hearing word that the crossover did have Klaus and Caroline interact via phone call, but that it was very definitively an ending. Because they spoke about Camille and Stefan, etc, etc. Like a closing of the book type thing. So okay, we were like devastated, everyone on twitter was losing their shit. Everyone was pissed, and @-ing the writers all these crazy, sad things, we were a wreck. Ask Hillary about this night because she, I remember, describes it as ‘logging on and reading what everyone else had and not understanding why tf everyone was mad about it’. It was the first and last time that our roles were reversed, and bless her for it.
SO WE’RE SITTING THERE, it’s Saturday, and we kept getting more information and we were like…something isn’t right here. So we did a bit of digging, spoke to a few people and waited it out. LO AND BEHOLD, everything we’d heard about the phone call was false. There was a phone call but the CKers and SCers were so mad about what was actually said in it, that a few of em, ring leaders of the feeble minded, made up a version and passed it around their fandoms as legit till it eventually worked it’s way over to us. So we all jumped the gun on fake information, lmfskdnknsks. Rumor has it, you can still hear Hillary yelling ‘I told you so’ at me through our group chat.
So all was well, I couldn’t tell everyone why not to panic, just that they didn’t need to. Until, this account popped up called tvdspoiler or something on twitter, also saying false information about the phone call. Sending everyone into a panic yet again. I remember this because I was at kmart with my mom, and the kmart by my house was in a basement so I had no cell service. I was able to send like a couple of messages, and was basically like ‘tell everyone to chill, I’ll clear it up when I get home’ did that in like a couple of hours cause then I had to leave to the midnight showing of the force awakens with my friends. So that day was chaotic, but fun. It was the first time I reached 99+ messages on my inbox, lmao.
So that all happened like a good while before we actually saw the episode. But cut to a few weeks later. I woke up at 1 AM my time to drink water, was on tumblr trying to go back to sleep. I checked my inbox and there was this bizarre message talking about ‘got some scoop’ and they were like ‘Finn dies in 3x17, Aurora gets put into some weird sleeping spell in 3x18, Camille and Davina die in 3x19, Lucien dies in 3x20′ and I quite literally laughed??? Literally who wouldn’t. Like who tf would ever believe TO had the balls to do all of that when they never killed anyone off. AND, WHO WOULD BELIEVE THAT SOMEONE WOULD JUST STOP BY, SHARE IT AND LEAVE. So I sent a screenshot to Hillary and was like ‘yo did you get this because wtf’. We often got duplicate messages. And we often got messages of people who were pissed about the two previous times we, from the klaroline fandom of all places, had legit info that wound up being true, that they were just waiting for us to fuck up. So we used to get messages of people pretending they were sharing info, and it was just antis trying to make us look stupid.
SO, Hillary says ‘just answer it because it’s obviously fake’ top ten moments before disaster. I answer it and am like oh haha, and where did that info come from. And they came back like a minute later, saying ‘I have a source’ THEN THEY ELABORATED. They mentioned that Lucien drags Freya and Vincent to Mystic Falls to do this spell with some bullet and etc. So at that point we were like fUCK because that same day we’d found out was in 3x16, which ended with Lucien and this white-oak bullet, having kidnapped Freya. And that’s when we knew, that someone showed up in the middle of the night, spoiled the whole back-half of TO S3—and then left.
The back-half of S3 was so fun??? Every week the info just kept coming true. On the wikia everyone hated me, probably the most anti messages I ever had was during that time, honestly it was great, 10/10 would recommend.
THEN, at some point in our blog history, Hillary had been getting quite a few messages about PT. And she had this fucking line in one of the messages about Phoebe’s pronunciation with her accent for the show, or lack thereof. And she said “weeches and woves will always have a place in my heart” SO THEM PHOEBE TWEETED IT. THAT EXACT LINE, and we were like was she...? So we shrugged off okay. A few days later, she tweeted “hellsbellschime enough, there’s plenty of other things to watch on tv, I hear mad men’s great.” And I—
THIS WAS ON SOME RANDOM ASS SUNDAY. Like I was lounging around, waiting for the new episode of game of thrones and then WHAM, chaos. AND AS IF THAT WASNT ENOUGH, Leah joined in too. Putting a target on my friends back...about her blog that no one was making them read. You can’t make that shit up. And Jenn actually replied to Phoebe’s tweet and got a reply back, and she was all “you’re right, I’m sorry” and then deleted the original tweet, which I still have a screenshot of btw. And then Leah showed up in Hillary’s inbox with this ridiculous three part ask about how she shouldn’t criticize women in the acting industry because of how hard it is for women in that industry which is true, but it doesn’t make you exempt from criticism??? So not sure where she meant to go with that one.
SO THERE WE HAVE IT, our fandom’s greatest hits. I’m sure I can elaborate and insert more, but I’ve been typing for a good 40 minutes.
Told ya, I wrote a whole dissertation, lmaooo.

What’s wrong kid? (7)
Reader x Single dad!Jaehyun
Genre: Fluff
Words: 4k
Prompt: You notice a child crying at a school playground. You decide to see what’s up and meet an extremely stressed/extremely handsome father.
Prev | Next
A/n: Sorry that this took forever... Enjoy!
Fall flew by faster than you would have ever hoped, and the cold desolate winter reared its head your way. You loved the winter. It was a magical time where you could wear all the sweaters you wanted, drink all the special flavored coffee drinks with Jaemin you could stomach, and frolic around the snow with Mark.
Winter however, brought unbearable stress and pain with her. Mid-terms lightly rustled you up while finals tried to kill you. The week leading up to it you were permanently stuck in the library. Living on the 9th floor designated for all sciences surrounded by rows of books and rivers of silent tears. You were on your tenth breakdown of the week; too tired to even quiet down your loud sobs that rang through the floor when Kun found you.
You looked up at your roommate with tear filled eyes and broke out another sob. His condition wasn’t quite like yours, but you could see that the stress was getting to him too. Wordlessly, he sat down on the floor next to you, taking the book that was in your shaking hands, and leaned your head on his shoulder.
“Please sleep.”
You woke up on the library floor alone wrapped in one of Kun’s old sweaters. Sitting up, you found a box of snacks both healthy and unhealthy with a note from Ten.
Kun told me where to find you. I didn’t want to wake you, so here’s a present! I know Kun is the pep talk one, but you’re one of the smartest individuals that I’ve ever met, so don’t stress too much. It’ll ruin your pretty face. – Your fav mom friend <3
“I can’t believe you came into the genetics final looking like the grim reapers bride and made a fucking A.” Yangyang groaned.
“She was legit crying while taking the English one, but was the first done.” Haechan picked up a fry and threw it at you.
“Y/n dramatic nature when it comes to tests doesn’t matter, we’re free!” Jaemin beamed. “What are our holiday plans?”
“I'm stealing Yangyang and we’re going to China with my family.” Renjun informed with a vey happy Yangyang nodding. The rest added that they were doing their regular holiday shenanigans and spending Christmas day with family. You usually spent the days leading to Christmas with them and Christmas morning with Lucas’s family since you went over there a lot as a child.
“What about you Ms. Taken? What plans do you and Jaehyun have?” Jaemin leaned in a smirk ever evident on his face.
“What plans?” You asked confused. Their collective faces fell, and every side conversation was silenced.
“Okay he has to die. What do you mean ‘what plans’? He hasn’t asked you to spend your first Christmas together with him?” There were only handful of times you’ve seen Jeno genuinely upset in all the years that you knew him, and it surprised you every time.
“We haven’t had the conversation. We’ve both been busy.” You murmured playing with your food, unable to look at your friends.
“Well my family and I would love to have you over if plans don’t pan out.” Lucas reassured while swinging his foot with yours.
“Thanks Lucas.”
You were helping Hyunjin put up lights in the living room after dinner. She still had a week left in school, but was through the roof excited for the holidays. It didn’t take much convincing on her part to make you buy stuff early and help her. She batted her lashes, pouted, and suddenly you were ready to sign away your life to her.
You were pinning the last string when she asked you what you were doing for Christmas.
“I don’t know.” You answered honestly, jumping down from the chair you were standing on. She looked at you confused and tilted her head. You had to bite back a giggle at how much she resembled a little puppy.
“Will you like to spend it with us?” She asked cutely twiddling her fingers.” Daddy wants to ask you, but he's shy.” She told.
“Is that so?” You laughed, kneeling so you were eye level with her. She nodded and looked at you with worry in her eyes as if you would say no.
“Hyunjin, I would love nothing more than to spend Christmas with you and Jaehyun.” You smiled, lightly petting her head. Before you had the time to react she threw herself on you and knocked you onto the floor. You tightened your grasp on her, so she didn’t hit the floor. She pulled up and kissed you on the cheek. Looking down at her smiling face, your heart melted at how happy she was.
You pushed yourself off the floor with her still in hand and the two of you continued to decorate the room. The task seemed to be too daunting for one day and after a few hours Hyunjin started to get tired. You glanced at your phone and decided to call it a day and got her ready for bed. She was out before the first book was finished and you stayed a bit longer petting her while she slept. From your place on the bed, you heard the front door open. Carefully, you exited the room and ventured into the living room.
You were greeted with the presence of Jaehyun being supported by Taeyong and Yuta while they dragged his swaying figure. The three stopped and looked up at your confused face.
“We just had dinner with the other head honchos and shareholders because the university project finished and was revealed successfully.” Yuta informed.
“They kept pouring Jaehyun drinks, so he's incredibly drunk.” Taeyong finished. Jaehyun very cutely raised one fist into the air and yelled in victory. Your chuckling at his cute antics grabbed his attention and his face lit up. He sloppily pushed off his friends and pulled you into a bone crushing hug.
“We did it.” He slurred, kissing all over your face. You giggled, but put no effort in pulling away.
“Yes, you did. Renjun snuck me into the building and it was amazing.” You confessed between the kisses Jaehyun was painting your lips. You held his face still for a second and turned to his friends. “Thank you for bringing him home safe. I got the rest.”
Yuta had to physically stop Taeyong from taking pictures and drag him out the house. You heard a ‘but they’re so cute!’ before the door was closed. You took a second to really observe Jaehyun; how his face and ears had a slight red hue to it and how even though you were supporting him up he was still swaying.
You sat him down on the couch and his lips were on yours again. Laughing into the kiss you pulled away and started to undo his tie, which proved difficult since he refused to be more than two centimeters away from you.
“Jaehyun. Give me a second please.” You asked softly. He pouted, but stopped regardless. You quickly pulled off the tie and kissed him as thanks. He pulled you onto his lap and buried his face into your neck.
“We should get you to bed.” You sighed as he placed sloppy kisses around the back of your neck.
“No, don’t leave me.” He mumbled as he tightened his hold on you. You slightly shifted so you were sitting sideways on him and carded your fingers through his already messed up hair.
“I'm not going anywhere.” He leaned his head on your chest as you continued, and you saw his breathing level out. You stayed like this longer than necessary as you watched him dozed off.
There was a calm wave that washed over you in the quiet of the room, the only noise filling it being yours and Jaehyun’s soft breathing. You were lost in the background hum when a thought ran through your mind. You looked down at him. He was peacefully drifting off on you, lips curled up in a small smile, and hands tightly wrapped around you with no wants of letting go. Your heart did something it never did before and it scared you a little.
Glancing at the led clock across the room and realizing that it was well after midnight, you shook Jaehyun awake and convinced him to let you drag him to his room. After several close calls and sorrys on your part, you sat Jaehyun down on his bed. You stood up to catch your breath and scanned the room. You walked into his closet and picked out a random t-shirt and returned back to him.
Kneeling in front of him, you started to unbutton his dress shirt. It was weirdly intimate, and you glanced up to find him smirking in his drunken state. You quickly finished, flicked him on the forehead, and threw his shirt at him. As he pulled on his shirt you contemplated your options. You had no intentions of staying the night. You and Haechan had plans in the morning, but Jaehyun’s ‘don’t leave me’ played in your head. Quickly deciding against going home, you told Jaehyun that you were going to take a shower and would be right back. You got back a muffled okay as he wormed his way under the covers.
You took the shortest shower of your life and stole one of Jaehyun’s shirts to change in. You set an alarm for the morning and found your usual place under the covers next to Jaehyun. You expected him to be asleep, but was proven wrong when arms wrapped around you.
“You smell like me.” He whispered eyes still closed.
“I think you meant to internally monologue that, but yeah I used your body wash.” He let out a weak laugh and kissed your forehead.
“Love you, goodnight.” He kissed your forehead one more time before pulling you to his chest.
“Goodnight.”
Curses filtered out your mouth at how loud your alarm rang. Scrambling to the side table you practically threw your phone across the room. You buried your face in your pillow and softly groaned. The arm that was still on you moved and you saw Jaehyun stir awake.
“Ugh my head.” He whined moving his hand to cover his eyes.
“Morning handsome.” You chimed. His head cocked to the side and the surprised was evident on his face.
“Whoa y/n.”
He told you that the last thing he remembered from yesterday was getting into Taeyong’s car. You nodded and informed that Taeyong drove him home and Yuta brought his car. Nothing much happened after, but Taeyong probably has blackmail photos of him now.
A string of apologies spilled out and you hushed them with a kiss.
“Don’t worry, you’re a very cute drunk.” You laughed. “Hyunjin outed you by the way. Christmas?” You waited for the confusion to turn to horror.
“She betrayed me.” There was a comical level of disbelief behind the statement that was followed by a visually nervous movement of the lips. “So, um you probably already said yes because who could say no to her, but if you’re not doing anything would you like to spend the holiday with us?” He asked shyer than he need to be.
You held your chin as if you were giving it some thought before breaking out into a smile.
“I would love to.”
You told Jaehyun to stay in bed and not leave until you said he could while you went to go make breakfast with Hyunjin. Her constant excitement when she sees you in the morning had to be one of your favorite things ever. After she was done brushing her teeth and washing her face, you gave her a piggyback ride to the kitchen. You told her that you needed her art expertise for the breakfast plans of the morning. While you were making pancakes, she was getting the colored icing assorted. You gave her one and she got started drawing a building. She took her time and was meticulous about every detail, so you took your time making the rest of breakfast and decided to try your hand at making Jaehyun’s coffee with the French press no one touched.
Hyunjin announced that she was done, and you applaud her on her work. You topped it off with ‘Congratulations’ written around it and Hyunjin went to retrieve her father. You just finished setting the table when they walked in. Hyunjin ran to you and you both screamed ‘surprised’.
Jaehyun had to hold a hand over his mouth to stop the chuckled that came out. He removed it and a smile was plastered wide. He walked over to you both and scooped his daughter up, kissing her cheek before placing one on your lips.
“How did I get so lucky to have such wonderful and beautiful girls?” The love that poured out the statement made your insides go soft.
Breakfast was filled with its usual banner along with Jaehyun whining about the great betrayal his daughter inflicted on him. You were laughing at how cutely Hyunjin called her dad a softie when you got a text from Haechan.
‘Eta 15 mins.’
“Oh shi- snap I gotta go.” You hissed. You placed your plate in the sink before kissing both Hyunjin and Jaehyun on the cheek. Jaehyun yelled that he was off, so he would pick up Hyunjin. You yelled okay before leaving and hopping in your car.
“Wow twenty minutes late. I thought you stood me up.” Haechan deadpanned while handing you the matcha latte he bought you.
“Sorry. I had to run home to change.” You said apologetically. Haechan sighed, but wrapped his arm around yours regardless.
“Forgiven. Let’s go we have shopping to do.”
You both did your annual Christmas shopping together every year. You both agreed long ago that doing it early and getting it out the way was adulting at its best and became a yearly ritual. You were browsing a store Haechan pulled you into when a yellow polaroid camera caught your attention.
“New hobby?”
“No. Hyunjin said some time ago that she wanted to start taking pictures.” You smiled. “Jaemin might have some competition.”
After another hour of shopping you decided to stop for snacks. You told Haechan about Hyunjin inviting you for Christmas and drunk Jaehyun over your shared cinnabons. As you recounted the night you saw the look in his eyes soften.
“I know me and the guys make you happy, but I’ve never seen you this happy before Y/n. I'm not going to lie other than Lucas, I was probably the most worried about you and Jaehyun, but I'm glad you guys are a thing.” He confessed. Your eyes widened at how sentimental he was since it was out of character for him.
“Thanks. That means a lot.” Your eyes matched his and the air around you was disgustingly sweet.
“Okay gross. Come on we have more shit to buy.” He cleared his throat, tossed the trash, and pulled you to the next store.
“Someone’s gotta die.” You sighed as you looked at the pile of wrapped boxes in front of you. You spent way more than you needed and refused to look at your bank account. While you sat on the floor and ponder on what friends you could possibly kill to spend less, Ten and a dying Kun walked into the apartment.
“Y/n do me a favor and kill Ten. When I feel my feet again I’ll hide the body.” Kun panted stepping over boxes and crashing onto the couch. You looked between the two and thought about it; Ten’s gift was pretty expensive, before deciding against it.
“What happened?”
“I tricked Kun into going to an intense Zumba class with me.” Ten said proudly.
“You probably shouldn’t be so mean to the person who makes the majority of your food.” You laughed picking up another box to wrap.
“It’s cool. He loves me too much to actually kill me.” Ten waved off.
“No, I don’t.” Came a muffled reply from Kun, who had his face into the cushion.
You let them do their usual back and forth banner and continued your task. Ten picked though a few boxes and you informed him that you weren’t keeping his or Kun’s in the apartment, so to keep his hands off.
“What did you get Jaehyun and Hyunjin?” Ten asked.
“I got Hyunjin a camera.” You pointed at a small box to his left. “But I didn’t get Jaehyun anything because I don’t know what to get him.” You sighed putting the last wrapped box in the pile.
“Well you still have time. Ask his friends.” Kun offered. You glanced down at your phone and decided that since it was still early in the day that you would make a stop. You turned and kissed Kun’s forehead before jumping to your feet.
“Thanks, favorite mom friend.” You sang and saw the look of betrayal on Ten’s face. “Going out, I’ll be back later. Ten stop trying to kill Kun please.”
When you got in your car you looked down at your outfit and pondered on if you should change. It was similar to the one you wore the first time you entered the corporate building, just winter approved. Shrugging, you turned on the engine and drove. The seriousness of your mission might have been conveyed as confidence as you walked through the lobby and flashed your badge without looking at the receptionist. When you arrived at the top floor Jaehyun’s secretary, who thought you were the cutest thing, told you that they were hiding out in conference room two.
Knocking only once you entered the room and was welcomed with shocked faces. You walked up to the round table and sat yourself down. The atmosphere was tense and ominous.
“I need your help.” You stated simply.
“This is terrifying. Please continue.” Sicheng implored. You glanced at them and pouted, successfully ending the tension.
“I need help figuring out what to get Jaehyun for Christmas.” You whined slipping down in your chair.
“You could have texted.” Johnny snickered.
“I have a lot of time on my hands today.” You waved him off.
“Sorry Y/n we’re not much help.” Taeyong sighed. “Jaehyun never really wants anything. It’s a struggle every year for us.”
“One year I asked him what he wanted and he said my love. I almost punched him in the face, Johnny had to hold me back.” Doyoung rubbed his temples obviously irritated.
You groaned and let your head hit the marble table. You were a bit disappointed that they didn’t have an answer for you, but happy that you weren’t the only one suffering. You were thinking about possible gifts to get him whilst visualizing how scared Johnny must have been when he had to hold a rage filled Doyoung back, when Taeil offered some advice.
“Simple is best when it comes to Jaehyun. He's the type that prefers to give than receive.”
You left as disheartened as you came and groaned at how slow the day was going by. Since you didn’t have anything better to do you drove to Jaehyun’s place and waited for him and Hyunjin to get back.
It was a weird feeling, letting yourself into the empty house. Bored, you went around turning on all the lights you and Hyunjin put up and went to get coffee and hot chocolate brewing for them since it was freezing outside. You made yourself tea and took a seat on one of the stools. You were mindlessly browsing through amazon when the front door opened.
“Y/n!” Hyunjin called when she entered the kitchen. She was submerged in her puffer jacket and looked like a marshmallow.
“Hyunjin!” You yelled back, getting down from your chair to help her out the jacket. “Jaehyun!” You yelled when he entered the kitchen as well. He laughed at your silliness and sent Hyunjin to change out of her uniform. You told her that you would have her hot chocolate ready for her when she came back.
“How was your day?” Jaehyun asked as he handed you the bag of marshmallows. You told him about the shopping adventure and confessed that you stopped at his office to ask the guys about ideas for a gift for him, but turned out with nothing. So, deciding to cut out the middleman you asked Jaehyun what he wanted for Christmas.
“Umm, I don’t really want anything.” He declared after giving it some serious thought.
You saw why Doyoung almost punched him.
“Hyunjin, sweetie!” You shouted, turning to go find her. She had just exited her room when you scooped her up.
“What should I get your dad for Christmas?” You asked as you slowly traveled down the hall.
She thought about it with the same serious matter as her father before confidently saying she didn’t know. You stopped dead in your tracks and fake wept into her chest.
“Oh no.” She said and started petting your head. “He doesn’t like getting gifts, so when I ask he says my love is enough.” She pouted. You wiped your fake tear and told her that was very cute.
“What do you want?” She questioned suddenly as you continued down the hall.
“All the kisses on the cheek in the world.” You said with no hesitation.
“I can do that!” She smiled and gave you an early gift. You melted at how cute she was.
Jaehyun had her drink ready on the table when you arrived back in the kitchen, you placed her down and she ran to it. Jaehyun handed you a cup that he prepared for you and you thanked him.
“Did you get any help from the bean?” He smirked.
“You’re enjoying my suffering a bit too much. I might mess around and get you nothing.” You threatened.
“That would be preferred.” He retorted sipping on his coffee. Thoroughly done with him, you placed down your drink and did the same to his before chasing him. With the help of Hyunjin you cornered him and hung onto him. Hyunjin returned back to her drink feeling parched while you hugged Jaehyun.
“Give me something to go on.” You mumbled softly into his chest.
“God why are you so cute.” He smiled. “Okay. Something practical and simple that I could use daily if I wanted too, but has a hint of you.” He smoothed out your back.
“Thanks, I can work with that.”
“Christmas sex.” Jaemin announced. You and your friends were hanging out at Mark and Haechan’s apartment for the evening; surrounded by assorted snacks and Mark’s playlist softly playing in the background. You were laying down, head resting on Lucas’ back.
“Jaemin isn’t allowed to speak for the duration of the night.” You declared.
“I got to agree with him though.” Haechan added.
“And just like that Haechan has lost the ability to speak.” You sighed. “I had that thought for half a second before I murdered it.” You confessed.
“There’s one thought you haven’t brutally murdered yet.” Mark said. You shifted your head to look at him and bit your lip.
“Yeah.” You muttered. “But other things have to go with it.”
“Not necessarily true; it’s more about the moment than anything else.” Jeno advised.
There was a collection of confused faces and Mark and Jeno told them if they didn’t know then not to worry about it.
You stared at the ceiling as your mind ran around letting the side conversation fade.
“Okay. Haechan lets go.” You sprung up suddenly and dragged him out the apartment before anyone could ask.
“Y/n what the hell?” Haechan had his best ‘I'm judging face’ on as you held up ties.
“Navy or black?” You asked.
“You dragged me to the Men’s Warehouse to get the lamest gift ever and you expect me to help you.” He hissed. You looked at him and nodded.
“Navy.” He sighed putting the black one back on its rack.
You smiled and went to find an associate.
The older gentleman was very kind and patient with you as you drew the design for a tie clip that you wanted to special order.
A simple gold bar with a moon crescent on the end.

Sunshine Lorraine Martin Summer Adventure - Isaiah’s Graduation Edition - @gallaghertasks
tw: slight violence (just the martin twins fighting like usual <3)
Waking up early the day after the party, Sunny pulled herself out of the fort that her and Lucas made. Her mother had told her that she would be at Gallagher at ten in morning, which gave her three hours to get ready and leave. Her stuff was already packed up in the room, all she had to do was shower and get Starlight ready for their trip back to Alabama. It sucked, having to say bye to her friends, but in month, they would be back together.
She sat inside of her room, waiting for her mother to knock only to find her older sister Imani. The two screamed and hugged, you know, that cute sisterly shit you do. Were they loud? Hell yeah. Would anyone tell them to be quiet? No way! You try telling Gallagher’s sunshine to keep it down, you’ll regret it right away. Together, the duo packed all of Sunny’s belongings into Imani car (”Oh my god, you’re driving a mini van now? What are you, a soccer mom?”), ready by exactly twelve. Friends were hugged, pictures were taken, and byes were said before the youngest Martin took off. The car ride back home was filled with updates about their schools, singing loudly to their favorite songs, and questions about Sunny’s nonexistent love life (”Come on, there’s gotta be some guy you’re interested in!”). There was nothing but sisterly love being said between the two.
Once back in Alabama, all of her stuff was taken up to her room and hugs were given to her mama and papa. They all talk about her first year at school, it was only with her mama that she went more in depth in private. Worry crossed over the older woman’s face as she pulled her youngest into her chest. What a way to start off your college career: with fear and anxiety at an all time high. “Do you want to stop going?” asked her mother, a question that Sunny wasn’t expecting. She pulled away quickly, shaking her head no. She knew what she was getting into with attending Gallagher, she was NOT going to give up.
Her time at her childhood home lasted only a day as they had to leave the next day for California. Isaiah Martin was graduating from UCLA and the gang was ready. Flying to California was a lot better than driving, Sunny wasn’t sure if she could do that again. Once there, the family checked into their hotel before meeting up with Isaiah for lunch. The whole gang was back together, everyone! The cutest family out there that was filled with so much love. It was tough, not having her family with her while she was at Gallagher, but it allowed her to become her own person without living in the shadows of her brother and sister.
The next day was graduation day. Pictures were taken of the trio and also the whole family. When the name “Isaiah Martin” was about to be said, all you could hear was that THAT black family at the graduation (”We ask that you wait for all names to be called before cheering.” Sunny and Imani leaned onto each other, laughing at that.) His graduation day was filled with lots of love and happiness, the youngest Martin proud of her brother.
Since the family was in California, they decided to use it as their vacation time. Time was spent at the beach, shopping together, and even looking at Isaiah’s apartment (”You couldn’t get anything... better?” chirped Imani. Isaiah only rolled his eyes, hitting her back with, “Funny, did the girl who lives in a shoebox in New York say something? Oh, I guess not.” .... Let’s just say that the Martin twins did start fighting right there and then yikes). Things were back to normal and Sunny was happy about that.
After the semester that she had, it was what she needed. To spend time with family and to ground herself. Of course, she also continued talking to her friends! Her and Ruby would constantly text, both geeking out about various things (”Can you believe that we’ll be second years next year? We’re going to be upperclassmen to someone, whoa!”), and then there was her text and FaceTime sessions with Lucas. Anytime his name would pop up on her phone or if he would ask to call her, the widest grin that you’ve ever seen would show up on her face alongside the feeling of butterflies in her stomach. She would always catch herself, taking note of these things about herself, finding it strange.
Think of the TikTok audio “wait, wait, wait, aye--”, that was Sunny whenever she caught herself. It wasn’t the first time that baby girl has liked someone, but it was usually some guy in another class in high school. This was one of her good friends, someone who she talked to on the regular and made plans with to hang out in Berlin!!! This was different and bad AAHH!!!!
Because whenever she would think about Lucas, her mind would go back to the last time they saw each other. How they danced together at the event, Lucas laughing at Sunny as she attempted to gamble, how they got their other friends to dance with them, him carrying her back to his room because the shoes that Maia loaned her were starting to hurt, so he offered to carry her on his back. Then there was the pillow fort being made, snacks that were waiting for them, Sunny choosing the movie to watch, how as they were getting ready and Sunny realized that she forgot her pjs in her room (Cyrus and Jai were having s*x so there was NO WAY she was going back there!), so Lucas let her wear his. To them cuddling together inside of the fort and then falling asleep next to each other--
Sunny literally swatted those thoughts away as the realization hit here. Picking up her phone, she clicked on Ruby’s name and sent the other a text:
RUBY!!!!! RED ALERT!!!!
i think that i have a crush on lucas
and i’m definitely fucked
And that concludes Sunshine Lorraine Martin’s summer adventure. Get ready for Berlin folks, because it’s gonna be a ride.
Some facts:
Starlight was with her the entire time because that’s her child and also her ESA.
Current hairstyle: long brown hair! A little protective style for Berlin, ya feel me.
Maybe she’ll shave her head because China with a shaved head? Hot af
Ya damn skippy the Martin kids made a bunch of TikToks together!!! And ya damn skippy they got that fame because they’re all hella attractive black kids
During one of their nights together, Sunny opened up to Imani and Isaiah about being queer. She was nervous at first but trusted them. The two accepted her without a problem.
Isaiah, a himbo: Aye, welcome to the we like girls gang! (Imani punched him for that)
It was the night of the party that marked the beginning of her crush for Lucas but it was only a week before Berlin that she came to term with those feelings!
Sunny is the CEO of not having a consistent Instagram theme which is SO different from Harper (I legit hate THIS)
Also, the only time Sunny gets a bunch of likes and comments is when she posts pictures of Isaiah because we are all simps for him

90?
Thanks for asking.
[From Weird Asks that Say A Lot]
90. luckiest mistake?
To be honest I can’t think of a lucky mistake that I made, so I’ll just use someone else’s that involved me.
I had moved to a new city with no plan and no job (I know, awesome right?) and I started applying for jobs that involved administrative work because I was pretty good at such things and I had spent the last 6 years making less than 8 dollars an hour doing retail. I wasn’t in a great position to negotiate so I tried temp agencies as well as applying for jobs on freaking Craigslist.
Weirdly, one of the Craigslist jobs sounded pretty legit and they were interested in me. I was called for an interview and I immediately liked the boss and the environment–tiny office, coffee area, I’d have my own desk, and the BOTTOM number on the pay rate was 13 bucks an hour. Well! I thought I did well in the interview (although I was self-conscious because I had a black eye at the time and had tried to cover it with makeup). I later posted on social media how much I hoped I would get that job because it just seemed so good and I liked the people.
I didn’t hear from them by the time they told me I would, so I followed up and found out they hired someone else. Another person had “more experience.” (Well, I had almost no admin experience save a summer job working for a professor in college, so I figured I should take that gracefully.)
I was pretty sad and tried a second temp agency. They were huge assholes. I was applying to one of those positions where when you try to apply you find out you have to go through the temp agency, so I did the thing. They gave me a ridiculous Office skills test where it flunks you immediately if you click the wrong menu first while looking for what you want.
The typing test wasn’t automated; they gave me a piece of paper with the text I was to type and set a literal analog kitchen timer next to me set for 5 minutes, and told me to go to it. I typed everything on the paper and then sat there doing nothing for 2 minutes. The woman came back in to check on me and said “Why didn’t you keep going if you typed it all?” I asked what she meant by “keep going” and she said I should have known to just start at the beginning again. When I pointed out that no one told me that, she said I should have asked. (???) Then she said if I could type all of that in 5 minutes it meant I typed at least 60 wpm, so she just put that down. (I type over 100 wpm. Ass.)
And when I finally got through all the required testing to sign up with the agency, they told me I “didn’t have enough experience” to be recommended for the job opening. “It says ‘entry level,’” I protested. “Yeah, it does,” agreed the case worker, “but you really just don’t have much EXPERIENCE.”
o_______o
Needless to say I was pretty bummed and met my mom for lunch at an outdoor restaurant. I was feeling pretty demoralized and telling my mom the story. Then my phone rang during the lunch and it was the job I had interviewed for originally.
“Are you still interested in [company]?” someone asked me.
I asked what she meant, since I had already been turned down because they hired someone else.
“Yeah, well, are you still INTERESTED?” she asked.
I said yes.
And she told me to come to work on Monday because I was hired.
The other employee hadn’t worked out, they said. Okay, so I was their second choice, but whatever, I’ll take it.
Come to find out the woman they’d first hired had struck some of the staff as obnoxious because she was a know-it-all who’d worked for a huge CEO in New York, and kept acting disappointed in their organization and technology, and then at lunchtime after working there two days she disappeared and didn’t come back that day, leaving her lunch and her sweater there. Two days later she called and said oh, my son was sick. She didn’t think it was a big deal because there wasn’t much to do, so she didn’t bother to tell anyone she’d be out taking care of him.
??????
Yeah. At first I was sympathetic to the other woman because it’s terrible to have a sick kid, and even disappearing and not returning the same day might have been chalked up to panic and chaos, but then they said she claimed her child was actually chronically ill and had issues like this frequently and she was used to it, and somehow saw no problem with failing to inform anyone at her new job that she wouldn’t be in when her schedule had been made clear to her. I will probably never have the whole ACTUAL story because I only heard it from the people who were mad at her, but given how understanding and nice I know the man who became my boss to be, I do have my doubts about whether it was an unreasonable intolerance to personal emergencies.
I certainly had a few of my own that he supported and allowed during the next TEN YEARS that I worked there.
It was a very good job, and instead of starting me at 13 dollars an hour they started me at the UPPER end of the range they’d mentioned ($15!!! after making $8 for more than half a decade!!!), and the work was relatively easy while still being necessary, and instead of my last job where I was always treated like I was about to steal from the company and was a slacker despite being one of the hardest workers there, I was actually valued and included at this place. It only closed recently because the boss had to retire and the replacement didn’t work out really well so the corporate office closed our branch, but I now work at a similar company doing the same kind of work; my current company snatched me up when they heard our branch was closing and they needed someone like me for the desk.
I guess the “lucky mistake” in question here is the original employee not making a damn phone call, because I feel like if I hadn’t gotten that job, the future of my entire life would have been very, very different.

"When you love something it loves you back in whatever way it has to love." - John Knowles
Rhysand was breathless.
He had been with a lot of girls, and had seen a lot of beautiful things, but when Feyre opened the door he became weak in the knees. His bottom lip fell open, and he realized he looked like an idiot as she grinned, modestly.
He wasn’t alone, though.
Azriel was the same as he looked at Elain, then looked down at his own outfit, then back at Elain.
“You look beautiful,” Rhysand whispered, as he took her hand.
“Thank you,” she smiled, cheeks heating. “You look pretty good yourself.”
“Have fun!” a woman called from the doorway, as Feyre’s oldest sister stood beside her, scowling.
Rhysand waved as they walked to his BMW.
“Your sister looks like she wants to kill me,” he whispered in Feyre’s ear as he opened his passenger side door.
“She probably does,” Feyre muttered, sitting down and buckling her seatbelt.
He peeked over his shoulder after he shut Feyre’s door. Nesta was still watching him with slitted eyes.
Yes, she definitely wanted him dead.
Azriel wasn’t saying anything, and Rhysand was pretty sure he was going into cardiac arrest.
Rhysand couldn’t blame him.
He peeked over at Feyre as he started his engine. She was stunning, in every sense of the word. Her red, silky dressed reached to her mid-thighs, and her golden-brown hair was curled and twisted so that it was neatly out of her face.
Beautiful. She was beautiful.
He cleared his throat. “So, ready?”
No one answered, and nervous tension filled the air.
Ready or not, they were off.
It was homecoming.
Lucien and Vassa were riding in silence.
To Vassa’s surprise, Lucien had actually put quite a bit of effort into his appearance. It wasn’t that Lucien didn’t like to dress up – he actually did, a fact that Vassa loved about him. She was just surprised he had dressed up for her.
He wore a burgundy jacket and black pants, a gray button down shirt in perfect contrast to his red hair and russet eyes. His hair was combed back, out of his face. He was completely, utterly handsome.
She couldn’t stop sneaking glances at him for the entirety of the ride, then felt ridiculous.
Lucien and Vassa had been best friends since freshman year when they quickly bonded over their love for journalism and photography. He was her other half.
Or so she had thought.
They were made for one another. When they were together, nothing else mattered and all seemed right with the world. Until recently. Until Vassa had put herself out there and Lucien seemed to care less.
Until she put her heart on the line.Yet, Lucien only wanted to be with other girls.
With Elain.
“So,” she said, trying to break the silence that had somehow grown uncomfortable. They had never had uncomfortable silence before. “Excited?”
“Yeah,” he said, although his voice was quiet.
“What’s wrong?” she asked, afraid of the answer.
“I just…..I don’t know. Not really looking forward to seeing Elain there with Azriel.”
Vassa tried to hide the hurt that was obviously showing in her eyes. “What’s so bad about Azriel?”
Lucien eyed Vassa. “Seriously? The guy is a freak. He sulks all the time and is incredibly secretive. He could be planning to kill her for all we know.”
“Oh, shut up,” Vassa snapped. “You’re being ridiculous.”
Lucien raised a brow, his hands still on the wheel at ten and two. “What?”
“There’s no need to bash on Azriel because you’re jealous.”
Lucien snorted. “I’m not jealous.”
“Aren’t you?” Vassa yelled, and Lucien flinched at her volume. “That’s bullshit, Lu! You’re still hung up over this girl that you barely know. You’re the one sulking! You’re so bummed that you’re not going to the dance with her. Well, guess what, Lu? You’re not going to the dance with her. You’re going with me.”
Lucien pulled his car into the school parking lot. “You say that likes it’s a bad thi-”
“It is a bad thing!” Vassa tossed her hands in the air, the straps of her pine-green dress sliding up her shoulders as she did so. “At least, you seem to think it is.”
Lucien pulled into a spot near the back of the parking lot and put the car in park. “What is your deal?”
“My deal?” Vassa scoffed. “My deal is that I have spent four years picking up the pieces of your heart every time some random girl has stomped all over it. And it’s been pointless, Lu, because the girl you should have been with all this time is me.”
Lucien looked at her for the first time since they entered the parking lot, his eyes widening. “What?”
“This was a mistake,” she said, rubbing her temples. “I was so stupid for asking you to the dance and actually thinking you would want to go with me. I’m wasting my time.”
“Vassa –“ he began.
But she had already thrown open her door. “Have fun, Lucien. I’ll see you Monday.”
“You’re being ridiculous!” he said, trying to grab her wrist, but she quickly snatched it away.
“I’m being real,” she said, wistfully, embarrassed that tears were shining in her eyes. She swung her legs out of the door and brushed down her dress as she rose onto the pavement. “I’m so stupid. I’ve been chasing you for years and you are so obviously not into me. Stupid. So, so stupid.”
“Vass –“
She slammed the door, and by the time Lucien was out of the car, she was walking away.
“Can’t we just talk for a minute?” he asked, his eyes wide with concern.
“I’m done talking, Lucien,” she said, barely looking back over her shoulder. “I’m done talking. I’m done hoping. I’m done trying. I just…..need some time to myself, okay?”
She was embarrassed. She was mortified. The last thing she needed was to see the pity written plainly across his face.
She was going home, and she was going to slip out of her ridiculous dress, and wipe off her make-up, and get into her pajamas. Then, she was going to watch a movie that would surely make her cry, and lie awake staring at the ceiling until she no longer felt like an idiot for throwing herself out there to a guy who didn’t see her in the same light that she saw him.
Lucien called her name until she was so far away that she could no longer hear his broken voice.
Mor had picked up Cassian in her Volkswagen, and they had dropped Alana off with Reina, Rhysand’s mother.
“Okay,” Mor said, as she pulled out of the Lunasa’s driveway and headed toward the school. “Answers. Now.”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
“Cut the bullshit,” she rolled her eyes. “Your sister called me this morning and asked me why you weren’t taking Nesta to the dance. Nesta, who was at your house. Nesta, who was in your bed, wearing your clothes. Nesta, who is in charge of you in detention –“
“Okay, okay!” He interrupted, rolling up the sleeves of his crimson button-down. “You can stop. Remind me to hide my phone from Lana.”
“No, I should be reminding you to make better choices.”
“She’s only a year older than me. And she’s different, Mor. She’s not…..Never mind.”
Cassian was frustrated. She wouldn’t understand. She wouldn’t get it. People saw Nesta in a certain light, but it was all just a show on her part. A defense mechanism. She would rather people hate her or feel nothing than feel anything remotely human toward her.
“No, continue,” Mor ordered. “Because you are walking dangerous territory and I want to know why.”
Cassian looked out the window, at the cloudless sky they were driving under. The weather was perfect, the sun shining, the temperature warm but not too hot. Autumn had reached Velaris. Soon, the leaves would be changing colors and falling to the ground. It was Cassian’s favorite time of year.
“Are you listening to me?” she snapped.
“Yup,” he said. “And I am choosing not to answer.”
“You’re a pain in the ass.”
“So are you.”
They fell into a silence that made Cassian’s head pound. They had known each other for a long time, and although they used to date, in what seemed like a different lifetime, Cassian knew she wasn’t speaking from jealousy. Worry, maybe, but not jealousy.
“She makes me feel better than I am,” he said, at last. “Not because she sees me for better, but because she doesn’t care about my faults. She’s seen everything I have to offer, Mor, and she still looks at me like….” Mor waited, her lips thin, as he grasped for the word. “Like I’m an actual person, not a poor kid with no money, no family, and nothing to show for my life.”
All the tension in Mor’s features faded as she stopped at a red light and looked at him, pensively. “Is that how you see yourself?”
Cassian shrugged. “Some days.”
“Why?” she asked, quietly, as she began to drive again.
Cassian ran a hand through his lose hair. “My mom may as well be dead, so I won’t even go there. My dad left before I could memorize his face. I’ve taken care of my sister since I was thirteen and I’ve done a shit job at that. Shit, Mor, she’s swearing and telling people that I’m up all night kissing women, for the Mother’s sake. She has no idea what it’s like to have a real family. She has no idea what it’s like to sit down with her family and eat a proper dinner. She has no idea –“
He stopped himself. Partly because he could go on and on for hours about how he had done that little girl wrong, and partly because his voice was breaking.
Mor reached across the middle seat of her ancient Volkswagen and put her hand on top of his. “Your mother is shit. So is your father. But Alana looks at you, Cass, and sees the world. She sees the boy who had to become a man when he was still a child and raise her, and she loves you more than anyone else in the world. She doesn’t look at you and see everything she does not have, Cass. She looks at you and sees a good life with a brother who would do anything for her. She is smart, and kind, and confident, and she is that way because of you. So, you can say your parents are shit, because I agree. But, you can’t say that you’ve done a shit job at raising Alana, because you have done an amazing job.”
He nodded, still looking out the window, and tightened his hand on hers.
Then, Mor said, “As for Nesta…..is she worth it? The hiding? The risk? She could get fired, Cass. And it’s not like people look favorably upon students who sleep with faculty. What if it got around to the schools you’ve applied for? The scouts?”
Cassian looked at her then, as they pulled into the school parking lot, and intertwined his fingers with hers. “Yeah, she is.”
Mor shook her head, a small smile forming on her lips. “You love her.”
“No one said anything about love.”
“You do, though,” she chuckled. “Out of all the people in the world, you fall for the ice queen of detention. Just be careful, okay?”
Cassian said nothing, but he couldn’t stop the smile from spreading across face.
Because there was a lot of things he could be with Nesta Archeron, and careful was not one of them.
Homecoming was in full swing when Azriel and Elain walked into the gymnasium.
Streamers were hung, in blue and black and gold, and there were way too many balloons for Azriel’s taste.
Elain was nervous, he could tell, but nowhere near as nervous as he was. The last time he had dated anyone was Ianthe, if that could even be considered dating. It was more like a one night stand, one that he tried to dwell on as little as possible, although he had a baby with the woman.
He glanced at Elain as he held out his arm, and she humbly took it.
He wondered what she would think when she found out he was a father and how he was going to tell her the news.
“Are you having fun?” he asked, then wasn’t sure why. They had just gotten there, and the ride was awkward as hell.
But, she nodded, smiling gently. “Of course, I am. Want to dance?”
Azriel cursed inwardly. He sucked at dancing. Maybe it wasn’t even that he was bad at it, but that he hated it in general. It made him feel uncomfortable. “Sure.”
They walked into the crowd of students, and Azriel figured that there were so many people, maybe he would even look impressive in the midst of them.
He was wrong.
“I’m sorry,” he shouted, five minutes later, above the fast-paced music. “I’m horrible at this!”
She giggled, and moved closer to him. “I think you’re doing great!”
Elain brushed her fingers along his arm making his stomach do something he couldn’t quite comprehend. “I’m really glad you asked me!”
“I was terrified as shit!” he shouted back, realizing he was on a roll with saying pathetic, ridiculous things.
“What?” she yelled. “I can’t hear you!”
“Never mind!” He quietly thanked the loud music for erasing his last statement. “You look beautiful!”
The song ended as soon as he spoke, and the crowd around him turned to look as his ears turned pink.
Elain bit her bottom lip as she smiled, then replied in her normal voice, “Thank you. You like quite handsome yourself.”
“Thanks,” he said, rubbing the back of his neck. “So, I’m really nervous. I don’t do this often.”
“Dance?”
“Well, yeah. Dance, and ask beautiful girls to said dance. Not just any beautiful girl, either.” He stopped before he could say something stupid, and held out his hand as a slow song began.
She gladly accepted it.
He pulled her close to his body, but not so close that she would feel uncomfortable. He pulled her close, but kept her at a healthy distance. He thought. He hoped.
He cleared his throat, his chin almost touching her forehead. “Is this okay?”
“Perfect.”
“Okay.”
The song played quietly as they swayed back and forth, Azriel’s hands on her hips. Her fingers were brushing his neck, right above his collar, gently. He was sure he was going to mess it up. He didn’t know how, but things were simply going too perfectly.
She laid her head on his shoulder and he stopped for a moment from utter surprise.
She noticed, and giggled as his hands tightened around her waist.
It was going to be a good night.
Mor and Cassian were slow dancing when she caught Andi’s eye.
She was standing with a group of friends, and waved at Mor, mouthing, You look beautiful.
Mor grinned, swinging Cassian around so that his back was to her. Thank you. You too.
“Who the hell are you talking to?” Cassian muttered into her ear. “If you’re seeing people who aren’t really there, we should really get you some help.”
Mor rolled her eyes. “Shut up.”
Cassian peeked over his shoulder to sneak a peek of her conversationalist, and she stomped on his toe. Cassian, in typical Cassian fashion, cursed obscenely.
“Sorry, I’m a bad dancer.”
“Mor, you took dance for ten years, you are not a bad dancer.”
Mor looked at him pointedly, and he stared back in the same way.
“You’re acting weird,” he continued.
The tension faded from Mor’s shoulders, and she swung Cassian around so that her back was to Andromache and her friends.
Cassian blinked. “Who the hell am I supposed to be looking at?”
“White dress. One o’clock.”
Cassian blinked, again. “Andi?”
“Yes.”
“You were talking to Andi?”
“Yes.”
“Flirting? You were flirting with Andi?”
“Yes.”
Cassian looked down at her then and flicked back her hair, which Mor reached up and quickly brought back over her shoulder. “Shit, I knew I saw a hickey earlier.”
“Will you keep your voice down?” Mor hissed, making sure her hair was put back the way it was, continuing to sway back and forth with Cassian as memories from the night before flew though her mind.
Her and Andi, sitting by the bank of the river, kissing until her lips turned red and puffy.
Cassian grinned. “You and Andromache. You two are, like, a thing, then?”
Mor shrugged, looking away from him. “Yeah. Yeah, I guess, we are.”
“Does she make you happy?” he asked, genuinely curious.
Mor arched a brow, looking back up at him. “Huh?”
“Andi. When you’re together. Does she make you happy?”
Mor smiled, sadly. “Yeah, she does.”
“Then why do you look like you’re about to cry?” Cassian asked, into her ear. To anyone else, it would have just looked like a romantic gesture between a couple. He placed his hand just above the small of her back - a hand of safety, of comfort. “Does she treat you right?”
“Of course,” Mor laughed. “It’s Andi. She’s, like, known as one of the nicest people in the school.”
“Yeah,” Cassian agreed, “but people like Eris, too.”
Mor nodded. He had a right to be concerned. She knew he would be, too, no matter who she started dating after her relationship with Eris had ended.
Dating. She was dating Andromache.
“She’s amazing,” was all Mor said.
Cassian smiled, and she could feel it forming on his lips as they brushed along the top of her ear. “Then what the hell are you doing here with me?”
“You asked me.”
“So? Rejection is good for my ego.”
Mor chuckled. “I guess.”
But what would people think? Would they care? What if they did? Gods, Mor, why does it matter?
As if he could sense her thoughts, and he probably could judging from how long they had known each other, he said, “Your friends are all that matter, Morrigan. And we just want you to be happy, and find someone who treats you like you deserve to be treated. We don’t give a damn who it is.”
Mor knew it was ridiculous, but her eyes began to swell up with tears. “Cass –“
“I’m gonna go,” he said over the music, leaning back. “I want you to enjoy your night, Mor. Go be with who you want to be with.”
Mor’s eyes widened. “No! Stay!”
He stopped, looked at Andromache, then back to her. “Not ready?”
Not ready for them to find out? Not ready for everyone to know? But that wasn’t really fair to Andi, to keep her hidden. It wasn’t fair to herself, either.
“No, it’s not that,” she said, and she almost felt confident about it. “I came with you. I want to finish the night with you.”
“It’s okay,” he smiled, and she knew he meant it. “I’ve got a headache, anyway.”
It was a lie, and a weak excuse. When Cassian lied, he always averted his eyes.
Mor shook her head. “You’re a sucky liar.”
“But a good friend.”
Mor laughed, and fell into his chest, tightening her arms around his waist. “Yes, a very good friend.”
“If you’re not ready, though….I get it. I’ll stay. I don’t want you to feel like I’m pressuring you to take a step you’re not ready to take,” he said, in all seriousness, tightening his own arms around her shoulders. “But I know who you would rather share the night with, Mor. I want you to be happy.”
Mor took a minute to think about it as they swayed back and forth to the music. “A headache?”
“Yeah,” Cassian sighed, dramatically. “It’s horrible. It’s all in my eyes….and stuff.”
“If you want to stay –“
“I’ve got other plans. Don’t worry about me.”
“Nesta?”
He gave her a knowing look, but said nothing.
Mor smiled. “Make good choices.”
“Yeah, you too,” Cassian laughed, then took Mor’s hand and walked her to the sidelines.
He stopped by Andromache, and let go of her hand, then winked at Andromache before finding his way out of the gym, hands in his pockets.
“Hi,” Mor said to Andromache.
She looked from Mor, to where Cassian had just walked out, then back to Mor. “What just happened?”
Mor shrugged. “I’m ready to be happy.”
Andromache grinned and reached for her hand. Mor intertwined her fingers with Andi’s.
And for a moment, Mor felt free.
Suddenly, the music abruptly came to a stop.
When Mor turned around toward the DJ booth, the DJ was no longer operating the laptop.
A girl stood there, a girl who Mor hadn’t seen since she had graduated the year before. A girl who she knew a certain someone there wouldn’t want to see.
“Excuse me,” she said into the mic, her long, blonde hair in perfect curls. There was a slight slur to her voice, and Mor concluded there was a solid amount of alcohol running through her system.
“Who is that?” Andromache asked.
Mor shuddered as she replied, “Ianthe.”
Ianthe grinned, her eyes set in the middle the gym. Mor followed her line of vision, and landed directly on a pale-faced Azriel, and a confused Elain.
With clear confidence, and a wicked grin, Ianthe said into the mic, “I’m looking for the father of my child. Have you seen him?”
Silence filled the gym just as Mor said, “Oh, fuck.”
Mor had driven Cassian to the dance, so once he had left, he was walking.
He’d texted Nesta the moment he left the gym, and now that he was under the night sky stars of Velaris, he felt unstoppable.
He was going to find her, and grab her face, and kiss her mouth, and tell her endless beautiful words until morning came.
He was falling in love with her, and the thought was equally terrifying and wonderful.
But she found him first.
A car slowed down on the road beside him, and a window rolled down.
Nesta smiled from behind the wheel.
He loved it when she smiled. She didn’t do it enough.
“Need a ride?” she asked.
He grinned. “That’d be great.”

okay anon so first of all that is legitimately my favourite fanfiction trope and i love you, so here’s a fun 3.3k word fic i kinda went overboard on, but i hope its still within the lines of what you wanted ^^ Read it on ao3 in my collection of other requests here
“‘Sup! I have a favour to ask.” The voice of the lamplighter came through the phone at far too loud of a volume, and much too fast for you to keep up with. He sounded out of breath. You looked around for a clock and sighed into the receiver. “Huh? I haven’t even asked the favour yet.”
“Plight, dear, friend, pal, buddy. Bro. Dude. Can it wait? It’s six in the morning, where are you even calling me from?” You tried not to sound upset, but you definitely did. You hovered a finger over the hang up button. “…Oh, it… is really late isn’t it. Good morning! I’m at the library right now and, what are you going to be doing in, like, two hours?”
“I planned on sleeping, though that’s not happening I guess.” “Yeah, sorry. Something came up and its important. Anyways, meet me at – hold on–” You heard the sound of papers, presumably him flipping through his schedule book. “Ling’s at 8:15?” “How important is it? And you’re paying.” “Of course. And, life or death situation. I promise.” “If you’re sure. I’m going to keep being bitter about it, though.”“That’s fair. See you then, okay?” You meant to say something else, but it came out as a mildly foreboding “Soon.” before you hung up. You yawned, stretched, and decided you had the time to do whatever until 8:15. Plight wasn’t one to ask for favours ever. What could come up that he needed you for? And something that required a meeting, which was all the more odd. You made yourself presentable to the outside world and spent the rest of the morning laying about, contemplating every possible way things could go wrong. That was the most necessary step to leaving your apartment as always. The hour came and you started over. The cafe still wasn’t quite open – The lights were still being tended to by a lamp bot, and Ling filling the coffee machine. He turned around and gave you a wave. “Good morning! Did you sleep well?” “Good morning. It.. could’ve been better. But, what can you–” You yawned, interrupting your own sentence. “Do, I guess.” The boy looked at the grounds he measured, and added half a cup extra before setting the machine to brew. “It’s just a slow day already, I think. So, what can I get for you?” He gave you a happy smile. “Nothing quite yet, I’m waiting for Lampy.” You sat at the counter and put your head on it. “He’s late to his own appointment again.” “Ah… ‘Seems like you’re getting roped into this as well.” Ling laughed uncomfortably, giving you a pat on the shoulder. “I don’t like the sound of that.” “I’m just going to let him explain it. The whole deal’s pretty, ahh, interesting. But if he’s on his way I should get more coffee, give me a minute.” He dismissed himself with a wave, and you, half-asleep still, waved back. 8:15 turned into 8:45 before Plight finally showed up, covered in a mix of oil and phosphor that didn’t look comfortable at all. The scent reminded you of silly string, for some reason, and sitting next to it was as unpleasant as it sounded. His hair was equally messy, half-covered by his hat, and his hook still not rinsed off of the glow. He made finger guns at you before speaking. “I bet you’re wondering why I needed you here today,” he began, not sounding too sure of himself. “To be honest, I’m more concerned why you look like you lost a fight with a street lamp. And, isn’t phosphor highly acidic?” You tilted your head at him, trying to hold your breath. Ling passed you a mug, and Plight the remainder of the carafe of coffee, expression neutral. Same nonsense as usual. “It is, I’m, like, dying at the moment. Anyways, the worst thing happened. I got back to my house after I talked to you and stuff, except my phone’s ringing and it’s awful. Like, this guy called me in a panic because one of the morning bot crew wasn’t working. And he casually forgot to mention that it was an optical problem because some shitty kid threw rocks at the thing. I had to like, run out and buy some replacement glass which sucked let me tell you, nothing is open until like, ten these days. And, now, I’m not the guy you ask for repairing bots, but I have two things going for me. One, I’m an idiot. Two, I’m determined. So I tried my best and! Got it to work. But I also feel like I’m melting and it was a mess and I regret not just bothering someone else about it. But the east side of the city also isn’t my problem for another day SO I’d say I did a good job. That’s also why I’m so late and I apologize.” He hung his head. You blinked, processed his story a few times over, before shaking your head and taking a loooong sip of your drink. “I’m not sure what I was expecting, honestly.” Ling shrugged and left you to your confused silence. “So, breakfast?” “The usual would be great, thanks.” You sighed. “I’ll have whatever he’s having.” “Good luck, you two.” He disappeared into the back, laughing again as if he knew something. The lamplighter clapped his hands together before continuing where he left off. “Okay so back to the point. I need you to, ahh, pretend to be my husband for an uncomfortable social event?”You narrowly avoided spitting out your coffee. “One more time with that?” You heard him. You had a full understanding of what he just said. However, you were having a hard time believing it. He dug around in his pockets until he found a small package, and slid it over to you. Upon closer inspection, it was a maple-flavoured candy ring, and you stared at him for a long time. “It’s a long story.” “Get talking, then.” You were so… done. But when it came to the lamplighter, you were a pushover at heart, so you at least wanted to hear him out.“I’m not sure where to start on this one, uhh.” He scratched the back of his neck. “So I was being bugged by this girl at my other… other… job, and I kiiiinda panicked and told her I was married because I wanted her to screw off, except there’s a staff party like tonight and now I’m expected to show up there with my supposed spouse. And, I can’t even like, get out of it. My schedule is totally clear. I don’t have anyone else I can ask except for you and I’m kinda all screwed up over it.” “…That implies you already went and asked a bunch of other people.” “Yeah. See, what happened, is, Kelvin said no outright, Ling is busy and y’know him, he needs two weeks notice on everything anyways. Cedric just hung up on me, Rue is a literal fox, Kip is old, too well known, and also a lesbian, and you’re, um, starting to get the picture, I hope.” He sighed heavily. You nervously reached for his shoulder, trying to avoid the bits that were alight with phosphor. “I will help you this once, but we’re going to have to put effort into it. What’s the dress code of the party? Who’s going to be there? Will there be free food? And if we’re doing this we’re going to need legit looking wedding rings and also some fake pictures. We need to agree on an anniversary date, and some other stuff that I’m forgetting right now.” “Speaking of food–” Ling emerged from the back holding two plates, piled high with scrambled eggs, french toast, fried potatoes and bacon. To an average person, it’d be too much, but you dove into it before he even set it down. “Sorry it took so long, still setting up for the morning rush and all. Which should be.. soon…” The boy hung his head for a moment, before adjusting his apron and putting a happy smile on. He was truly the hero of customer service.Plight was staring at his plate, then at you, then back to his plate. It seemed he needed a minute. You spoke first. “It’s not a problem, we’re not in a rush or anything!! But, okay, so we need a date.” “Hm, hiking in the Glen sounds nice. Or maybe visiting the world history museum. Or, you meant like, day, didn’t you.” The boy covered his face with his palm. “Why not 45-23?” “Alrighty, so that’s our anniversary now.” You poked the lamplighter. “Still with us?” “Just. I don’t think I’ve had this much food in a year how do you do this regularly? And that say sounds good, yeah. Let me–” He scribbled it down in his notebook and nibbled at the potatoes. “You have a problem, dear.” “I’m busy, s’all.” He pouted. “This is really good by the way. And, the… Event,” he said it with such disgust, as if saying the word party would ruin the atmosphere. “Pretty straightforward. Lots of boring office people who think it’s a fashion show rather than an after-work get together where they just smacktalk their clients and drink sparkling apple juice in crystal glasses. It’s literally, like, just juice. It’s so… Tame. And boring. Anyways, the cool guys and who we’ll probably just stand around the most is the other maintenance guys who are cool as hell. We aren’t even sure why we’re invited to be honest but that makes it kind of better. So I think if we go with something that’s like, kinda flashy, but not in the ‘high class citizen who understands social cues’ area, we’ll be okay and be talked to as minimally as possible. Also if we really need to leave you can fake pass out or something.” You brought a hand to your chin in thought. “I am a pro at being dramatic. But, for outfits, I have… Nothing matching that description.” “And I have reckless spending habits! Guess we’re going to the mall for two pressing things today.”
“Okay but you have clothes at my house and you’re taking a shower first. I’ll even, like, do your laundry. Please dude.” He wiped his face and his expression soured. His hand was covered in black streaks of machine oil and whatever else. “…Ah.” The pair of you finished up, paid Ling and thanked him before crossing the skywalk into your apartment. Some hours passed before you were both ready again, but you got lots done. Enough edited photographs to fill a small album, all ready-printed and as nice looking as possible. You got a few other people in on what was happening just in case they were asked. It was above and beyond what you’d do for any other situation, but after getting over the initial shock, you realized the situation was more hilarious than anything. You worked on getting your stories straight while you walked towards the mall. You met in middle school, were close friends through high school, but fell apart sometime around college due to conflicting dreams or something (You mostly hoped nobody’d ask you to go in that much detail) when afterwards you eventually ran into each other and started dating. It wasn’t a lie, per se. The truth was definitely stretched, but not beyond recognition. You held hands while wandering around store to store to practice the idea of closeness. Something was off about it, though. You’d never known him to be the nervous sort and yet his palms seemed to get sweatier, his words a little more hesitant by the hour. Even when you’d normally be bickering about this or that was met with no resistance. It was starting to make you worried as well, but you didn’t want to mention it. It seemed while your acceptance was in the fun of things, he had a very different realization. The culmination of those anxieties passed without incident, as there were more pressing matters. Standing in front of a directory for the third time that day, a thought crossed your minds at the same time. “How do jewelry stores even work?” He looked down at you, as if you’d magically have the answer. “I’d imagine like any other store??” “But, like, do you just… walk in, and say, ‘do you by chance have two plain gold bands? Here’s my card. My ring size is 10.5’? Don’t you usually need to order things ahead of time? What if they, like, ask?” “That’s, um, a valid point. I have no idea.” You scratched the back of your neck awkwardly, trying to laugh it off. He followed the motion. “We need an adult.” “Plight, we’re adults. Let’s just find a place and see what happens, okay?” He sighed and tried to find the one he was looking at earlier on the map. “That’ll go well. Two bros, looking at gold rings for some… Reasons.” You walked across the mall, still hand in hand, and stared into some of the outer cases of one store you stumbled across. Everything was far too glittery for your cave eyes, and the numbers high enough to make you feel the crippling debt. “What the f–.” He paused. “Heck. Is a karat? Isn’t that a troll? Why are there fourteen of them? And this one is eighteen?” “I think it’s a measure of like, how much actual gold is in it. Since like, normal pure gold is a sucky material, they put other stuff in it so it’s not as terrible. It’s still pretty terrible, though. Also the troll you’re thinking of is something else entirely.”“That’s… informative. Also, you’re a nerd.” “I can’t argue with that.” After wandering around for awhile and looking at everything, you both realized you had no idea what you were actually doing there. You decided to settle and look elsewhere. After all, it only had to look like a gold band. You only planned on keeping it on your finger for roughly four hours. You stumbled across the exact thing you needed as you’d used up all your allocated shopping time, and started back to your apartment. He happily carried everything while you walked along. The conversation was over in a comfortable silence. It was something you’d let yourself get used to in a heartbeat. Just the two of you– Wait. He actually was talking and you missed it…? You shook your head as you leaned against the wall of the elevator, and the lamplighter stared at you blankly. “Did you hear any of what I just said?” “Um,” you stared at the ceiling, then the floor. “Nope.” “That’s fair, first of all. To recap, it starts in about two hours, and it’s a fifteen minute walk, so we have some time to sit down before getting ready and everything. You look exhausted.” He managed to keep every bag on one arm, and offered his other one out to you. You took it, despite not looking happy about it. “I’m not used to going anywhere, since my office is right in my building. I think this’ll be the most anything I’ve done for awhile.” “You really need to get out more.” “And do what? Bask in the sunlight?” Your expression deadpanned.“Okay that was cold. But yeah, I remember you mentioning a few weeks ago you were pretty stir-crazy. Like, hey, maybe you could set up shop in the library sometime? And then I could, like, visit, since I end up there so much anyway.” “I’m sure I could bother George about it sometime, depending on the day… And, next time you’re free we should lay around, watch some movies, the usual. It sure has been awhile.” “Yeah, it… has. This is the first time we’ve actually spent together in months. Kind of strange, given the circumstances.” You both chuckled. You unlocked your door, took off your boots, and immediately laid on the floor. It was nice to be home. Plight got to cutting tags off of your clothes and it went back to a content quiet. The whole situation was starting to feel too domestic and you were wishing for a distraction. You weren’t opposed to it, but you also didn’t want to let yourself get used to it. It was just one night and if it didn’t mean anything six hours ago, it wasn’t going to now. You looked at the clock and sighed at it, which was echoed back. This became a contest over who could sigh the loudest, but it devolved into laughing quickly. You picked your clothes up from the pile. “We should, um, get ready, it’s almost time.” “Oh, you’re right–” You disappeared into your room and left him to his own devices, emerging a few minutes later. You wore brown pants, a beige shirt, dark green suspenders and a bowtie to match. You admired yourself in the mirror but the same feeling of something being off came back. You ran a brush through your hair and tried to look back, but to no avail. The more you tried to nitpick and adjust things the more awkward it felt to be in. A lot of things were like that, you thought. The more you tried to push away small imperfections the more the original picture was lost. Your mind trailed back to the man in the other room. You figuratively wiped the blush off your face and walked out to greet him. He eyed you up and down. “It looks dumb, doesn’t it?” You deflated, staring at him. You realized you’d never actually seen him outside of his usual long coat. You wished you could’ve a long time ago. You decided to leave the mental comments there.“No! I mean, you look… nice.” He turned away. “So I was kind of thinking, what if instead of sitting by a punch bowl for like, three hours to prove something, we actually do something… fun?” Thinking about it, you shrugged. “Did you have any specific ideas?” He raised a finger, then lowered it. A few seconds later he raised it again, only to lower it again. “Not yet. I haven’t gotten that far. But it’d be like, a date? If that’s cool? I mean, if it’s not then it’s fine and just forget it but I’ve been thinking about it most of the day and???” He ran out of breath and it took some effort to recollect it. “Y’know. At least I hope.” “I’d be down for a date,” you hesitantly said, not too sure of your own words. “But, just to clarify, you did ask some other people to this thing first before settling for me, right?” He tensed up for a minute. “Don’t call it settling. But, I did, and I had a lot of fun today, and accidentally revived some old feelings? Which was… a journey in itself, and then I also decided I don’t really need to prove anything to anyone. Life is too short to stress about dumb things and if anyone decides to bother me about it, I can tell them in loud, rainbow details about the better night I had with my ‘husband’ until they regret asking.” He offered his arm out, which you linked with yours. “That sure is a lot to come out of today.” You were happy to lean on him. You also wished, quite a lot, in fact, you were better at stringing words together. “I put in a lot of unnecessary effort to not make it weird? But then it was weird anyways, and, ahh. Let’s just go for a walk and see if we find anything interesting.” “Sounds good to me.”

--------------------------------------------------------
Tucking her phone and room key into her purse, Aasha made her way to the elevator to go down to the bar in the hotel. Leati's flight wouldn't land for at least another half hour, meaning he'd probably get to the hotel in an hour.
She had arrived earlier in the day, and spent most of it preparing a surprise for him, going through the internet, and asking friends who had experience; she figured she'd treat herself a little before he got here.
She'd known for a while now that Leati had a thing for the whole school girl outfit, and Aasha had been getting more and more curious about trying anal, though she hadn't said anything about it to Leati.
Over the past month or so she had been working her way up from the smallest anal plug, looking up how to do enemas properly, and talking to experienced friends. She'd also been putting together the perfect outfit for him, choosing each article of clothing separately to fit the idea she had in mind.
However, both their schedules had been too busy and they'd barely seen each other for the past 3 weeks. They were finally getting a whole week to themselves, and Leati suggested that they spend it in Rome at the renowned Westin Excelsior.
The Westin Excelsior was a stunning hotel that stood right in the middle of Rome; the architecture reminiscent of Ancient Roman palaces. The building itself was six stories tall, with a dome on top of one corner. Leati had, as usual, booked the biggest, most luxurious suite; the Villa La Cupola took up a good portion of the fifth and sixth floor of the hotel, including the dome.
Aasha's eyes nearly popped out of her head when she first walked into their villa. The living room was huge, decorated with a beautiful fresco; the velvety red curtains hanging from the floor to ceiling windows were drawn, allowing the sun to brighten up the room and warm up the marble floors.
It had its own kitchen, dining room, studio, and even a private gym, but her favourite feature was the Roman bath style Jacuzzi on the sixth floor that led to a terrace over looking the city, with St. Peter's Basilica in the distance.
The bedroom was another work of art; the floors covered with a beige and brown carpet that had red and peach designs curling across, matching the furniture, and heavy curtains.
There was a king sized bed pushed back against the wall, positioned so that the sun lit up the pristine white sheets; it was high enough that she needed to hop up onto it. The four posts around the bed were painted a bright gold that was offset by the gold patterned red drapes hanging off of them.
The rest of the hotel was just as beautiful, with its marble flooring, and artwork. She wandered around a little, admiring the beautiful paintings, and statues that decorated the different hallways before asking one of the staff to point her in the direction of the bar.
The bar was fairly empty, with only a small group of people occupying a corner of the room. Aasha hopped up onto one of the leather clad bar stools and ordered a cherry martini from the bartender. She thanked the bartender and gave him the room number to open a tab.
As she sat at the bar enjoying her drink, her mind began to wander back a few years to when she was in a similar place, waiting to meet Leati for the first time.
Aasha sat at the table of a fancy restaurant, her delicate fingers running up and down the stem of her glass as she waited for him. She had never been this nervous before, especially since she'd never done anything like this before either.
She was barely into her first year of college, and she was switching her major to photography, something her parents were not willing to financially support. Aasha didn't want to take student loans, but fortunately, her friend had told her about the arrangement she had with her sugar daddy, and Aasha had decided to give it a shot.
She had made it explicitly clear that she wasn't willing to do anything sexual for money; coming from a religious, Indian family, she had done barely anything more than kissing. She didn't really care about waiting till marriage to have sex, but she wasn't comfortable with the idea of having her first time be with some random guy who payed her for it.
It came as quite a surprise to her when Leati contacted her. She'd expected him to be less attractive, and much older than he was; granted he was about 10 years older than her, but he was only in his late 20s.
He had given her basic information about himself, and what he would want out of an arrangement, and they had agreed to meet face to face before finalizing anything. He was one of the founders of a major security company that often provided bodyguards to the highest ranking people, and he simply wanted someone to attend work functions with him without the hassle or drama of courting someone.
She was so lost in her thoughts that when a large hand gently gripped her shoulder she jumped, nearly knocking her virgin strawberry daiquiri over in the process; she looked up at the owner to find Leati Anoa'i looking down at her.
"Hi, you must be Aasha, I'm Leati," he said, flashing her a smile.
Her lips parted a little as her eyes drank him in, he was even more beautiful in real life, and certainly more intimidating if he wasn't smiling. He wore a grey suit with a red tie, his hair was slicked back into a bun, and he was clean shaven except for his mustache and goatee.
She blinked a couple times before realizing she was staring at him, she hurriedly stood up and held out her hand, a blush spread across her face as it finally occurred to her that she had no idea what she was supposed to do.
"I-um, yeah-it's good to meet you," she stuttered, biting the inside of her cheek for that. Her face turned redder as he chuckled and gently wrapped his hand around her fingers and pressed a light kiss on her knuckles.
"Pleasure's all mine, babygirl," he replied, letting go of her hand so they could both take a seat. "So, what would you like to eat?"
They spent the rest of the evening talking, and getting to know each other. He was one of three of the major owners of the company, he lived in Tampa about 45 minutes away from her, and he traveled a lot. By the end of the night, Aasha was relaxed, and comfortable enough around him to explain what she wanted, and what she was willing to do.
They didn't have any clashing needs, and he was more than happy to tell her that he'd draw up an agreement as soon as possible for the both of them to sign. He didn't seem to care that she wanted to keep their relationship platonic, but he did say once that if she wanted to go further he wouldn't be opposed to it.
Setting down her empty glass, she left a generous tip for the bartender, and slowly began to make her way back up to the room.
Over time her and Leati's relationship had evolved. They had become good friends, and she stuck with him through two attempted hostile takeovers by his partners even when he tried telling her he didn't want her caught up in that. He started bringing her to family gatherings, stating that he wanted his mother to stop bugging him about settling down. She got to know his family, his twin cousins who became his new partners, and even became close friends with his sister-in-laws, Trinity and Kecia.
As they spent more time together, she started to develop feelings for Leati, but her fear of rejection kept her silent, until one day she got a little too tipsy at an event and ended up confessing to him in the car.
Leati had a firm grip on Aasha's waist as they made their way down the steps of the hotel; he was glowering from the incident moments ago, one hand clenched into a fist at his side. Aasha couldn't help the shiver of fear that ran through her when she looked up at him, the only other time she'd seen him this angry was when Colby tried to wrest the company from Leati.
She'd known that this conference was a bad idea, she tried telling Leati that the McMahons would probably send Lopez as their representative to hopefully throw him off or simply to sew discord, but Leati's stubborn Italian pride wouldn't let him back down from this. To his credit, he managed to keep a lid on his emotions for most of the conference, that is until the farewell dinner.
Leati had left her alone momentarily to go to the restroom, which gave Colby the opportunity to slink up to her with that typical half smirk etched into his face. She gave him a polite smile and took a large sip of her champagne, not wanting to stir up any shit when they were so close to leaving.
"It's been too long, Aasha, you're looking good," she cringed as Colby's eyes took their time looking her over. "We never talk anymore, not even a Happy New Year text?"
"That's your own fault, Lopez," she glared at him, she wanted to get up and leave but there were people standing around the table, blocking her off; the only exit was past the man leering at her. "No one forced you to stab us-him in the back."
"Us? Did you guys finally hook up? Or is it still purely platonic?" he scoffed, not even bothering to acknowledge everything else she'd said.
"N-no, we're just good friends, something you obviously know nothing about," she bit back, taking another gulp of her drink.
"So you're not off the market? Cause I assure you, I can be a very good friend," Colby's smirk widened into a malicious smile as he leaned in, a hand coming to rest on her bare knee. She recoiled with disgust, ready to throw her drink in his face when she felt a larger hand grab her arm, pulling her up and away from him.
She looked up to see Leati glaring at his former partner; Colby had the good sense to look somewhat scared as he stood up and subtly tried to back away. For each step he took back, the large Samoan took two forward.
"Hey, hey, listen, he's not worth it, let's just leave," Aasha pleaded, tugging at his arm. She tried not to shiver as he looked at her, his infamous volcanic rage simmering in his eyes. "Please."
"Fine," he said, giving Lopez one last scathing look before turning on his heel to march off with his arm around Aasha's waist. She texted the driver to meet them at the front as they made their way through the halls of the hotel.
They came to a stop at the entrance, waiting for the driver to pull up with their limo. Aasha turned to Leati, unbuttoning his jacket to slide her arms around him as she buried her face in the crook of his neck. A startled sound bubbled in his throat, but he hugged her back, kissing the top of her head. They stayed like that until the car drove up.
"I'm sorry," Leati said as he settled in next to her; she looked up at him in surprise. "I know you hate it when I get mad, I just couldn't stand the fact that he put his hands on you, I didn't mean to scare you."
"No, it's okay, you could never scare me, it was actually kinda hot," she mumbled the last part, her face heating up at the confession. She buried her face in his shoulder when his serious expression turned into a smirk. She arched into him as he slid a hand up her spine to grab her hair and pull her head back.
"You think it's hot?" he asked, a dangerous gleam in his eyes as he leaned in closer so that his face was inches from hers. "I-"
She cut him off with a kiss, her hands grabbing his shoulders to pull him closer. His arms wrapped around her waist, pulling her onto him so that she was straddling his lap. She teasingly bit his lip, eliciting a deep growl from him. She pulled away to look up at him, the both of them panting a little as they stared at each other wide eyed.
"I think I love you," she blurted.
Aasha chuckled at the memory as she walked into the VIlla; back then she had been mortified, but thinking back to it now it seemed rather funny.
Glancing at her phone she saw that she had 40 more minutes till Leati got there. It would be just enough time to shower, and finish the final steps for her surprise. She took a quick 15 minute shower, then hopped out to grab the lube and one of her plugs. She decided to go with one of the smaller ones with a pink diamond on the top because she didn't want to deal with any discomfort.
After working it in, she left the lube in the drawer of a nightstand by the bed, slipped on a shorter baby pink silk robe, and went back to the bathroom to dry off her hair. She finished just in time to hear the door to the Villa opening and closing.
"Aasha?" Her face lit up as she heard Leati's deep voice. She let out a shriek of happiness, rushing out of the bathroom to find him setting his bags down in the bedroom. She practically jumped into his arms, making him laugh as he picked her up with one arm; much to her delight he had grown his beard out, but it also tickled her skin as he buried his face in her neck. "I missed you too, babe."
"God you look so good, it feels like it's been forever, I hate being apart for that long, promise me we won't have to spend more than a week apart again, Lea," she mumbled, giving him a deep kiss to show him just how much she missed him; his chest rumbled against her as he chuckled at the nickname she'd used.
"I dunno if I can promise that, but I'm sure if you gave the Board a good talkin to, they'll see things your way," he joked, walking to the bed to set her down. She pulled back to give him a mock glare before grabbing the front of his shirt to bring him in for another kiss.
His large hands roamed over her thighs, pushing up her robe as he massaged her soft skin; her own hands were busy rediscovering his strong chest, enjoying the warmth that she had desperately missed over the past few weeks, when he pushed her back with a quick shove before dropping to his knees to push her legs apart. She was about to let him when she remembered that she'd prepared surprises for him.
"Wait! No, I, uh," she said, hurriedly sitting up and clamping her legs shut. Leati gave her the cutest pout as he stood up. "I'm sorry, its just I got you a couple surprises but I haven't finished putting them together. Why don't you go take a shower, I'll be done by then."
"I GUESS I can wait a little while longer," he sighed dramatically, giving her a kiss and a grin. "You better be done by the time I'm out, cause I'll fuck you right where you stand, got it?"
"Yes, Daddy," she said with a cheeky smirk as she pushed him towards the bathroom. He gave her one last kiss, and landed a smack on her ass before walking into the shower.
Aasha dug through her bag, pulling on the outfit she had put together; a white button up shirt tucked into a flow-y black skirt that barely covered her ass, white thigh high socks held up by black thigh garters, and a loosely tied black tie. She could hear her boyfriend getting out of the shower and turning on the hair dryer which gave her just enough time to brush her own hair out and pull it up into two ponytails.
She just finished tucking her brush away, and unbuttoning the top 3 buttons of her shirt when the bathroom door opened and out stepped Leati in nothing but a towel.

Here’s All the Best Stuff to Do in Mykonos and Santorini
Very lame, but I’ve always been kinda afraid of traveling. It’s not a fear of flying, but more that I was born in another country and, as such, overseas travel means a dramatic family visit weighed down with stress, guilt, and 20+ hours on a plane to Asia (where even as a 9-year-old, I was already on some shit about compression socks).
All this to say I don’t feel anything when people quit their jobs to travel the world, and follow zero travel Instagrammers. I’ve gone my entire life without ~seeing the world~ (couldn’t afford to study abroad so my personality doesn’t hinge on four months I spent in Paris, sorry!) and honestly, I would’ve been fine with that forever.
But when I got an invite to tour Mykonos and Santorini on a hotel-hopping trip with Katikies Resorts and Clubs, even *I* was like, HOLYSHITYES. After all, Santorini has been called the “Instagram Island” and when one of the top ten most Instagrammable hotels in Greece (where even Justin Bieber has stayed) invites you on a dream summer vacay, you don’t ask how they got your e-mail—you just GO before they change their minds. Anyway, here are all the fun things that impressed me the most.

1. Party it up at all the Mykonos clubs before going to Santorini.
If you are like me two weeks ago and have no idea how to distinguish between different Greek islands, trust when I say you’re gonna wanna do Mykonos first and then Santorini. Why? Totally different vibes. Mykonos is club central—the energy there is extremely horny, and you’ll want to get hedonistic and loose there first before calming down and sightseeing in Santorini, where everyone is coupled up. Everyone is also super hot (still thinking about you, hot passport control guy, imy), friendly, and funny.
Book Now Katikies Mykonos
In the wedding party of my dreams, we rent a bunch of private villas in Mykonos, go to Elia beach, and lounge around our private pool (IDK what’s up with the pool industry in Greece, but it seems like even two-bedroom vacay villas have ones the size of McMansions) before hitting up the two main hot spots: Scorpios and Nammos. If you’re a night owl, you will THRIVE in Mykonos: Parties usually don’t “start” until 2 a.m., and they easily last until 6. Lindsay Lohan may or may not be there.
2. Go shopping in Mykonos town.
The long, winding streets of Mykonos town are filled with little shops and scenic nooks and crannies perfect for ’gramming. Take a day to explore by foot, and add in time for a leisurely lunch and dinner.
During lunch at Kazarma, our waiter mentioned that the historic building used to be owned by Mantos Mavrogenous, a bad bitch who kept a cache of weapons and cash in the building during the Greek War of Independence. Yes, she wound up dying alone, broke from spending all her money on the war effort (for which she was never repaid), and yes, we stan.
3. Take the ferry and bop over to Santorini.
The ferry takes around four hours (compared to the one-hour flight) but offers a much more scenic route. They usually stop to pick up passengers in Naxos, Paros, and Ios, and you can go on the deck to scope out the different cities. Didn’t have time to see any ruins on your trip? The Portara is easily visible from the ferry deck and dates back to 530 BC.
When it’s time to dock in Santorini, you’ll go down into the bowels of the ferry to collect your luggage before disembarking. It’s very much like you’re in Star Wars shipping off in the belly of a giant spacecraft before the gates open and SUN! SANTORINI! JK, you can’t see anything yet because you gotta go up the cliff and settle into a hotel for that Insta-famous Santorini view.
4. Stay in a traditional cave house and appreciate the architecture.
Fun fact: All those cave-like homes you see on Insta (hyposkapha, if you want to be legit about it) are because the islanders kept getting their shit rocked by pirates in the 16th century. As a result, they had to build upward on the most precipitous cliffs they could find.
Carina Hsieh
Book Now Kirini Santorini
This is why Santorini looks and feels so different from other warm would-be-beach towns. There’s no way of just walking from your hotel to the shore—all the resorts are on top of literal cliffs. I stayed in the Kirini Santorini (Carina at Kirini! LOL invite me back pls) and it was *chef’s kiss* in terms of views.
This drone video I bribed Konstantinos Sigalas, Katikies’ social media executive, to take will help you see what I mean.
5. Go on a caldera cruise.
I’m sorry to report that my stupid ass saw a bunch of photos of the ocean in Santorini and was like, “Oh, it’s definitely like a beach town.” Folks, it ain’t!
Few beaches are accessible by foot in Santorini, so the best way to take advantage of that crystal blue Aegean is by boat. We chartered a Riva yacht (v bougie) to take us around the island and stopped where the water looked the dreamiest to pop in for a swim.
On the boat, Sigalas shared this hot blogger tip for getting the best Insta eye-candy shot: Shoot video on your phone, scroll through the video to find the perfect still, and use a screenshot of THAT to get the perfect photo. Very important: you’ll need to go into “Settings —> Camera —>” and adjust “Record Video” to “4K at 60 FPS” for the most high-res stills.
Book Now Caldera Cruise, starting at $1,600/for two passengers
6. Go swimming in the hot springs.
During your caldera cruise you should also ask the captain to make a detour to the hot springs. You’ll know you’re there because the water goes from deep blue to turquoisey-green with orange sulfur on the rocks of the inlet.
Do: Bring a pool noodle. Sorry to everyone who got tired swimming into the inlet, but our captain immediately sized up our wine-drunk asses and was like, “You probs want these.” And we did!Don’t: Wear white in the hot springs. The sulfur will fuck this up. Don’t: Wear any jewelry in the hot springs. Again, sulfur.
A fact I tried very hard to contain during my trip is that I’m the world’s pickiest eater. My definition of seafood means fish sticks from those microwave meals with the penguin, and avoiding vegetables is a firm 1/16th of my personality. But Greece, where the produce and fish are so fresh, suddenly made me the biggest tomato stan on earth, and I would step into the ring for second helpings of whatever sea creature is placed in front of me.
It also helps when everything is deliciously cooked. The restaurants are so exclusive that you usually have to be a member of the Katikies Club to dine there—although this year they opened Mikrasia (with locations in Santorini and Mykonos) and DePaul Restaurant to the public. Santorini Mikrasia has only six tables and it’s generally recommended you book a spot a few weeks in advance. The Mykonos version has more tables but is also v fancy — resident chef Angelos Bakopoulos was on Greek Master Chef. Both restos also won the FNL awards in 2018 (the Greek equivalent to the Michelin Guide).
While a lot of Santorini is Greek Orthodox, Fira town (the capital) has a Catholic church and a monastery where the Vatican would store Greek wines to be shipped to the Pope. Recently, the monastery was bought and turned into Katikies Garden. It’s the most family-friendly of the Katikies clique because there aren’t as many steep stairs. (Seriously! That’s why Santorini doesn’t have a ton of kids running around! What if they fall!)
While everything else in Santorini feels exactly like you’d picture it from postcards and Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants (sun-drenched, everything bright white), the streets of Fira have a Venetian feel. Even the building’s colors reflect this: There’s a lot of beige and pink as well as rounded archways and courtyards that feel hella Italianate.
It’s all very subtle, but the best way I can describe it is like you suddenly look up and gaslight yourself into wondering if you’re still in Greece. You are!
I’m a pretty tough spa critic (I like my massages how I like my breakups: rough, hard, and with me begging for five more minutes). Yet no treatment has ever compared to the one I got from Nicole at A.Spa. No joke, I physically felt her clear my sinuses through my back at one point. Magic.
Stop by Venetsanos Winery for a tour of the first industrial winery on Santorini. If you’re the opposite of claustrophobic, you can squeeze your bod through one of the old underground wine storage tanks and finish off your day with a breathtaking view of the caldera as you sample a bunch of delicious wines.
Contemplate the meaning of life as you stare off into the Aegean and wonder when your husband will return from Greco-Persian war.
Then, consider taking a second mortgage on the house you do not own in order to stay in Greece forever. Or at least come back next year.
If you can’t make it to Greece just yet, here’s what to buy instead:
Three Cents Pink Grapefruit Soda
Three Cents thewhiskyexchange.com
£1.25
This is the status soda of Greece. Every bar/restaurant worth visiting is stocked up on this pink stuff, and it’s in all the delicious cocktails. I may not know food, but I know my carbonated bevs, and this is GOOD.
Oia in Santorini by Kadio Kolymva
Armos amazon.com
Super thin and stocked with tons of fascinating tidbits about Oia and Santorini. If you don’t wanna bug the hotel staff with hundreds of iterations of, “Wait, explain how they carved out all these rooms out of rock without power tools again?” like I did, this book will sate you in the best way.
Donkey Milk Face Serum
Body Farm Greece hercules-shop.com
€32.00
Thank me later when Donkey Milk becomes a Thing in the U.S. One of the women I traveled with picked up this serum on a whim, and for the rest of the trip everyone was fascinated by how great it was. Also, Cleopatra is said to have bathed in donkey milk, so there you go.
Korres Pure Greek Olive Body Set
You may have heard of Korres here, but I’ve got news for you. There are secret Greece-exclusive products that are WAY better. One of the women on our trip was on a mission to restock her daughter’s collection of the Olive body lotion she’d picked up the previous year, and after trying it, MAN DO I UNDERSTAND THE URGENCY.
