playing: through an elaborate game of friend barter i have acquired a switch and breath of the wild. it is fucking hysterical to me how much this is just skyrim but good and how much genshin impact is just breath of the wild but with some tits and a lot of ass. it’s also screamingly funny to me that breath of the wild has made about a billion and a half since launch and genshin made 2.1B its first year. just on mobile. so much appetite for these kinds of games (big open world rpg-lite with puzzle solving and kind of grindy mob-based combat) but they’re hysterically expensive to make.

im having a slightly frustrating time mostly bc i don’t really have the hand dexterity to do combos and i didn’t grow up with controllers. it’s easier to map things to separate keyboard keys, although mouse and keyboard is quite hard on the wrists. actually my problem is probably that it’s slightly more brainpower than i want to give to a game rn.

making: im extremely stressed due to a combination of work and life and not balancing them very well lately. so im buying a bunch of house shit bc it is college grad season so half the people in this area are going home or otherwise moving and looking to ditch their shit.

the first and most important thing is that a new evil lair has been rented. this will be the first place where i am the only one on the lease and it comes unfurnished. i will be slowly moving in, as i did last year, bc this  current above-the-second-floor apartment’s stairs are quite bad for the knees. hopefully everything i can pick up by myself will (at minimum) be in a storage unit by the time my sister comes up memorial day weekend to help me move things that don’t fit in my car. the tuesdayposts may be a little light on content for the next four to six weeks.

i am annoyed i have to pay double rent for a month and a half, and i am annoyed i spent a bunch of money in march for some shit that was Extremely specific to making this apartment nicer (like idk i’m gonna need an eight foot ladder in the new place, which was not built in the 1800s and has somewhat low ceilings and way fewer windows, also there isn’t really a good place to put my swiss dot and pom pom trim cafe curtains :(

anyway here are some objects and very few pictures of things i acquired last week from paying attention to craigslist curb alerts: huge pile of frames, a milk glass object, and this floor lamp. which i think is brass plated and desperately needs a new shade. project for future kay. maybe i’ll get really into lampshades next who knows. my new living room has no good ceiling light so between this and the big green lamp and i guess the plant lights that’ll have to do it

i feel like brass implies that at least some minimum baseline of thought and effort has been put into an object. i like how mellow and warm it looks. i think it’s an easier finish to decorate around than steel or “oiled bronze” which is usually just treated steel but we don’t have time to get into that. i also like how it leans industrial without going full steampunk. also i hate trying to clean verdigris without ruining it.

auston matthews: #34, first overall in 2016 and first line center, won the richard this year with 41 goals in like 53 games or something crazy. highest drafted latino player ever, theres lot of baggage here, im sure u can explain all this to ur friend but itd take too long to get into it here

mitch marner: #16, fourth overall in 2015, best playmaker on the team, first line rw. human energizer bunny and the best player on the team. hella sexy on the pk, i love him.

william nylander: #88, eighth overall in 2014, second line lw, best skater on the team, also best at zone entries. severely underrated and notoriously hated by the toronto media and also don cherry.

john tavares: #91, second line center, drafted 1st overall to the islanders in 2009. signed w the leafs in 2018 (hometown boy!!! johnny toronto!!!), best captain ever, sexiest man on the team. i love him.

and uh now i will finish the first two lines and then go into lines 3 and 4:

zach hyman: #11, drafted by the panthers and then signed w the leafs because fuck the cats (jk i like them so much but zach didnt so. toronto), lw on the first line, penalty killing KING, the sparkplug of the team. bounces around the lineup but not because hes bad, hes genuinely that versatile of a player. also jewish, which is cool. king.

nick foligno: acquired at the trade deadline, plays rw on either the first or second line depending on injuries, i love him. was the captain of the cbj for like a while, which is neat because he left them for the team they knocked out of the bubble last year. hilarious.

alsx galchenyuk: my beloved. #12, my favorite number, will probably be out of the lineup for at least game 1 because the leafs are literally too good. has a whole saga involved w his career, but used to be a hab and was drafted 3rd overall by them, which is important for this playoffs. king.

ilya mikheyev: #65, penalty killing king, cannot score shorthanded to save his life but he DESERVES it. signed in the 2019 offszn. i love him.

riley nash: #20, another cbj newbie. originally acquired for cap shenanigans, going into the lineup because hes a veteran and great defensive center. we'll see how this goes.

alex kerfoot: #15, acquired in the kadri trade, another great pker. i love him, he has more points than pld this season, hes great.

Dated Jo for about 5 months after the villa until she broke up with him, finding that their lifestyles were too hectic for them to continue, at least that was her public statement to the fans but they really grew apart & the “love” was no longer there

Ibrahim seemed to be more upset about it than Jo in the beginning resulting in snappy replies for awhile, which again stems from him not knowing how to express himself

She checked up on him A LOT, almost as if they never broke up but Ibrahim felt like he needed his space now. They talked it out the best they could over dinner and got closure but that didn’t mean it didn’t sting. He just didn’t think it was needed to be calling each other everyday to see how they were both holding up. If they were done, then that’s what they should be

Jo didn’t see it that way. She still cared for Ibrahim, that didn’t mean that they had to stop talking in her view. She wanted to know how he was coping, and was known for “sticking her foot in her mouth” so that was also a flaw in their relationship

She would say certain things that touched on how she was feeling but didn’t express them at the right times & then there was Ibrahim who didn’t know HOW to say the things he felt which left jo to assume things

Ibrahim was back to the single life and he hated it. He wanted someone he could come back home to, someone that wanted to be with him for the long run. A part of him feels like Jo wasn’t planning to be with him for the long run in the first place and in a way that was okay? Sometimes you don’t know where you’re going in relationships but there should be some sort of goal? Maybe? At least that’s what he thought. Yeah they had fun but he wanted more someday

He was still young he didn’t need to be hung up about it right? Sike. He didn’t know how to take things lightly. That wasn’t how he was built. And to get comments about his ex relationship and have fans dragging him about his choices in the villa A YEAR later!!! Was disheartening

Shannon seemed to be doing well. He thought they would still be friends, at least that’s what she showed before she left the villa. Before he got her dumped. They talked a couple of times since then, jo personally wasn’t a fan of that—Shannon didn’t care but it was clear there was some tension still there

Until he contacted her just to realize she probably had his number blocked but her IG was public and she had a new man & was traveling about

His dad and Reuben were the only ones rooting for them

Watches a lot of sports on the Telly, it doesn’t have to be just golf. Usually watching that sport sends him right to sleep while the others keep him active/vocal...yes he’s a tv yeller

5x13, the series finale i have heard nothing but good things about - I made it y’all! *wipes tear* this is a show i will definitely rewatch! It definitely feels like the kind of show that’s so layered that every time you go back you’ll pick up something new. I love shows like that.

I think with a lot of arts and humanities subjects, but especially with writing, people tend to underestimate the effort that actually goes into the craft until they actually try it. I also love reading sonnets but I’m not a huge fan of writing them because they are so hard 🥲

Sunflowers are one of my favorite flowers! And I love seeing dandelions first pop up in the spring, such a nice burst of color after winter. Pink is such a fun color, I loved the “dusty pastel” color trend a few years ago and had so many dusty rose clothes hahah.

Ohhh I haven’t watched H2O in forever!! When I was in high school I babysat for this family pretty consistently and the daughter loved it so we watched it a lot together. Might be fun to watch again! A couple of nights ago we had something called a heat burst happen over my house. I didn’t know that was a thing until last night. But basically the temp skyrocketed suddenly at nine pm to triple digits. Plus, since it’s fire season, we’ve got all this lovely smoke trapping in the pollution. We’re under heat advisory too right now, so we have been stuck inside all week. No swimming. And definitely no going out of it can be helped. I live in hell.

The kids are close in age. Her son is about two and half years older than mine. They love each other. It’s pretty cute. We are just happy they get along.

I haven’t watched all the marvel movies, but they’re all pretty good. Honestly, Black Panther is pretty good. Iron man is one of my favorites but I’m kinda hooked on RDJ. He’s around my parents age but damn does he make it look good. The best marvel universe show I’ve seen yet has been Wanda Vision. Spider-Man is also a must see. They nailed the character. And Deadpool is good too.

I need a new bookshelf too. But I don’t have anyplace to put one right now. I think I need a bigger house. Some people would tell me to downsize my books. I would say that’s blasphemy.

Husband does data and reporting analysis. However, his degree is in Game Art and Design. He wanted to get his masters in something tech related. But he likes to code too. I do also have a clothing design I put together for school but also wanted to pursue in actuality.

The poem is by Thomas Gray and it’s called Ode on the Death of a Favorite Cat, Drowned in a Tub of Gold Fishes. It’s macabre. And sad. And just a little funny. I should be ashamed of myself. I really should.

Honestly the bard does it for me always. Sonnet 116 is always a classic. It’s been my favorite for a long time. But sonnet 130 is a close second. The first is traditionally romantic but there’s something to be said about Shakespeare’s realistic depiction of his love in 130. It’s honest and kinda sweet.

How do you feel about satire? It can be another difficult form to master but when it’s done well I find it incredibly enjoyable. I had the joy of reading A Modest Proposal to my husband once. He was only really familiar with Swift’s Guliver’s Travels. So I introduced him to that. The shock on his face was priceless. But he enjoyed it overall.

As I was pulling out the book I needed to get the proper name and author of the poem, I came across a book I bought awhile back. It’s called the Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo. That was an excellent book, and if you haven’t already read it, I thought I’d recommend it. I like to recommend that one to people a lot. It was addicting.

i am healthy, my family and friends are healthy, so i consider myself lucky. i miss going to places, i wish i could explore the city i moved to more, i wish i could meet up with the other people from my classes. i’m probably feeling like everybody else right now. this year in general was marked by changes and insecurities about the beginning of my actual life. and everything turned out different and in a way nobody would have expeced. i don’t know if i would feel better or be at a better place mentally without all the conditions the pandemic brought. i don’t know if this really answers the question, i don’t know if i actually have an answer for this question. but yeah, here we go.

camera pans to valkyrie and korg and heimdall, and all the aesir who've never tried shawarma before. valkyrie's sworn off booze but a little revelry is called for this time. she raises a bottle in toast of their victory.

camera pans to peter parker just setting down his food. tony stark passes by and ruffles his hair and the kid laughs and they share a hug. tony hugs him. tight. he's lost this kid once. watched him fade once. he never wants to see that again. but he has somewhere he needs to be, so he points to somewhere off screen, Peter's eyes go wide and he's laughing. ned and aunt may come running, because tony called them, and they barrel peter with hugs. tony smiles, and walks away towards where's he's supposed to be.

camera pans to stephen strange and wong by their table, relaxing, wong happy everything's finally settled down enough that they can all breathe. someone portals some of the food away from their table and a little lighthearted scuffle happen. stephen looks exasperated but they all deserve this fun.

camera pans to a girl mumbling 'excuse me, excuse me' through the crowd. it's cassie. she finds her father, arguing with hank about something, but he immediately pushes that aside as soon as he sees his daughter, alive and well, and very, very worried about him that she and her mom and stepdad drove all the way to new york to find him. tony told them where scott was. scott is crying, hugging her so close and kissing her cheeks. hope and hank and janet share looks. they put their arms around each other and hold each other tight. their families are complete. there's incoming cacophony. luis and the rest of the xcon gang suddenly group hug scott, to everyone's surprise, but scott is laughing.

camera pans to the guardians table. rocket is fussing over groot, who's poking at the food. drax and mantis are equally enraptured by the strange dish. nebula and gamora are sitting close, sharing smiles in relief, sisters having found each other again. peter quill reaches over to hold gamora's hand and squeezes it, and she gives him a fond look. nebula is so happy for her sister. drax tries to eat an entire plate of shawarma whole.

camera pans to wanda and vision and sam and bucky and rhodey and pepper at their own table. wanda is exhausted, leaning against vision, both in relief at having him again and terror that this isn't real and she'll lose him again. sam and bucky are arguing about something, but it's not anything serious. rhodey is just digging in because he's starving. we see tony again, passing by, and he talks to rhodey and pepper for a brief moment. pepper gives him a kiss and tells him to go catch up with his friends. he deserves it after so long in space and isolation.

the camera follows him. we see a shot of his back first, because he's walking, and then he turns to the side to get around the table and we see them: the original cast. steve and bruce and clint and nat and thor and loki. the ones who were around for Avengers 2012. they're all tired and exhausted.

clint and nat are holding hands, clinging to each other, grounding each other. they've survived. they will continue to survive and they'll have each other backs.

steve looks battered and bruised but his posture is unguarded. for once not an ever vigilant hero but a man just letting himself savor a victory that's taken so much to earn.

bruce is too. hulk's smashed more in his life and they're both tired. they've finally beaten thanos, and he's so glad all the aesir are back. he's glad thor and valkyrie are okay. he's even glad loki is okay. he's glad everyone in his team is okay.

thor is tired, having fought harder than he ever has in his life. he's lost everything and he's just gotten it all back and he's glad but there's that disbelief and what if there. he's still letting it sink in. he's watching the table where the aesir are. he's watching everyone. he's watching loki, sitting a little far away from the table, and he scoots over, an arm open, as if to say. you're welcome here. banner and i know you've changed. we've seen you fight today. we've seen you cover our backs. you are welcome here.

the table is frozen, waiting, and tony rolls his eyes and pushes loki's seat near the table. he claps his back. says, don't be a stranger, reindeer games.

loki is expecting something, a blow or someone to complain, but they have all seen him on the battlefield. they've seen him protect thor and bruce and valkyrie and peter parker bc hey THAT'S A CHILD and they're too tired to fight and argue logistics. right then loki had fought with them and not against them, and that's enough for a seat at the table, even for just now. thor pushes the plate of shawarma to him. he says, it's good, try it.

tony sits down, watching the exchange. he smiles fondly, because they have all been through a lot but they've all been through a lot before too. they will rebuild. they will rise again.

the camera zooms in on his face, as he smiles and takes everything in, everything he has fought to preserve and protect. everything his oath to no longer be a merchant of death has accomplished.

he looks at the camera, and he's looking at us.

he smiles, wide.

cut to black.

silence.

slowly, the words 'Thank You' fade in. a thanks to everyone who's been for the ride for the past 11 years, through the good and the bad
