#I just think Miko is fun

So I wanna jump on this cause your little ramble dredged up memories. I remember when I first watched Prime, Miko frustrated me. But that was because I was the quiet, introverted child who related more to Raf than any of the other human characters. Jack came off as too much of a know it all who cared too much about what others thought of him, but Miko cared too little. At least, that’s what kid me thought. As an adult, my perceptions have changed a little.

But to start off, I think you’re absolutely right. Miko and Jack only become a problem when they’re compared to each other. However, I think there’s a reason so many fans tend to hate Miko more than they hate Jack. So let’s over analyze and deconstruct their characters a little, shall we? Bare in mind I haven’t fully rewatched Prime in a while, but I still think my point is valid.

So. Miko. The first time we meet her, she’s drawing Arcee, and she follows Jack when he and Arcee leave the school. Presumably because she wants to ask him about his bike, or because she wants to find out more about him and “it”. Instead, she stumbles across the Autobot secret. I think this for some fans planted the seeds. Her actions can be interpreted as nosy and not minding her own business, and not respecting the privacy of others. Personally I don’t see it that way, because I genuinely don’t think she was following Jack to be rude. I think she just thought the “bike” was cool and wanted to ask him about it. But after this interaction, her behavior doesn’t really get any more respectful. She’s constantly asking questions that make the Bots uncomfortable, tends to push for answers when they don’t want to give it, is very quick to be judgmental about issues related to the Bots or Cons or war, or even issues related to Cybertron itself, she has a blatant disregard for the rules, she’s very often going against what the Bots ask of her, and she repeatedly puts herself in danger, even when it mean pulling Jack and Raf along and putting them in danger too. All of this culminates in a character who, for many, is too nosy, too rude, too loud, too inconsiderate, and reckless to an extreme.

However, all these things happen alongside the other humans. Miko only seems nosy because the other humans don’t want to probe, so she has to be the audience’s mouthpiece to pry important information out of the Bots. She’s just the one to do this the most, which is why it seems particularly egregious. She’s also a pre-teen girl, so of course she’s going to be asking questions about everything. She adores Bulkhead and the Bots, and just wants to learn more about them. When the “nosy” behavior isn’t being compared to the boys, then it’s not actually that bad. It just comes across as curious rather than insensitive or rude. And yes, sometimes she does say something judgmental, but again it only seems bad when Jack or Raf are there and they’re not making comments. If she’s saying like that when she’s with the Bots and the boys aren’t there, it sounds less harsh. It’s also understandable. She’s a human child trying to understand aspects of a culture and war that originated on an entirely different planet. Her comments may be a little tactless, but when not compared to Jack they aren’t mean or cruel or anything else like that. The final thing that people get annoyed about is her disregard for rules, orders, and safety, even when it puts the boys at risk. And I think that’s semi-valid. When she follows the Bots and the kids get stuck in the Shadow Zone, it’s made very clear she should have stayed behind. However, the boys did not have to follow her. She did not grab them and drag them along. She ran through to get cool pictures because she admires Bulkhead and the Bots and thought it would be a run of the mill mission. The boys chose to follow her. They did not have to. She did not put them in danger, even if she put herself in danger and made them feel pressured to follow. They did not have to give into that pressure. But people will point to this episode as an example of her stupidity and recklessness. Yet, in the episode with Hardshell, where she snuck out and endangered no one but perself, her behavior is no longer as bad. Yes, it is still reckless, but she is criticized less for this act of rebellion because she did not endanger others. Once again, her actions only make her dislikes when it involves the other two. When she’s exhibiting the same behavior without them there, no one seems to find the same faults.

Now Jack. Jack is…somewhat boring. And I think that’s by design. He’s supposed to be the human character that the audience can most put themselves in his place. He’s respectful, mostly calm, fairly mature, and just…a typical introverted teenage boy. I.e., what most of the target audience likely are. When we first meet him, he’s working his job at the burger place, and when he gets off work he stops to admire Arcee. He gets on her to temporarily fulfill a fantasy, as I think many boys his age would do, and then Arcee is spotted by Cons. She takes off with Jack in tow because she knows the Cons would assume he’s her ally. Eventually, her desperate escape leads her and Bee to stumble across Raf. That’s how the boys join the team. In all the interactions we see, he’s quiet, respectful of the Bots, doesn’t press for answers when they’re uncomfortable, and (almost) always willing to obey their rules for him by staying in the base when they go out. The only time we see him break rules is when someone he cares about is in danger (his mom, Arcee, one of the other kids). He does sneak out with Smokescreen in that one episode, but he generally speaking he does not follow the Bots on missions unless someone is in danger, or he’s told/invited to come along. Or instances where he’s on an outing with Arcee and she has to detour on a mission midway through the outing. That too. But to Miko haters, when she’s compared to a character who just…doesn’t cause problems for the Bots, she’s seen as the problem child instead. However, it is also because of Miko that some people hate Jack instead. Miko, for all her faults, is at least entertaining. She makes you feel things. Even if that thing is anger. Jack is a lot less entertaining by comparison, because his personality isn’t as loud.

However, just like Miko, this is only when he’s put next to her. On his own, he’s perfectly entertaining. The episode where he and Arcee meet Airaqunid is one I still remember very fondly. It’s a genuinely chilling episode, and he’s one of the best parts of it. Another episode where Jack just shines is the one where his mom his captured. And people still talk about the episode where he was in the mines with Megatron. That singular interaction was really good. Again, without Miko there to “dull him out”, he’s shown to have an actual, genuine personality. He’s loyal, brave, also reckless, and extremely intelligent. When he’s allowed to act on his own without Miko there, his character becomes one of the best parts of the episodes he stars in because we see genuine growth and development from “typical teenage boy” to “smart, brave, kind, loyal, and one of the better TF teenage boys”.

Miko and Jack, on their own, are individually great. Without the other there to highlight their faults, each of them are genuinely good characters. It’s only when they’re made to be in an episode together that they make each others worst traits all the more apparent. When Miko is with Jack, she comes across as rude, selfish, and immature. Likewise, and Jack is with Miko, he seems stuffy, boring, and like way too much of a know it all and a stickler. Quite honestly, I like them both. They’re both good characters. On their own. But when they’re together, it’s really hard not to hate one of them. Who you hate just depends on who you relate to the most.

So yeah. That was my deep dive into a pair of characters that probably wasn’t necessary but I made anyway. These are just my takes and impressions. Also, if I got any facts or episode details wrong, just let me know. Like I said, it’s been a while since I rewatched the full series.

Fully of the belief that Miko is only seen as an annoying character because of the dynamic between her and Jack.

Miko in isolation isn’t an annoying character. She’s reckless, and unwise, and has to be bailed out of trouble every five seconds, but this isn’t really an issue for any of the bots because as far as they’re concerned, this is Normal Human Behaviour™. They are constantly having to work with and around humans or bail them out of trouble.

Bulkhead adores Miko. He is exasperated by her like a parent is of their toddler, sure, but I wouldn’t say he is annoyed by her in any way. Her interaction with wheeljack is another example. When she exists with the bots by herself, she doesn’t come across as burdensome. She’s just limited, as every human is, by the curse of being small.

It’s only through her interactions with Jack, and his continuous challenging and calling out on her behaviour, that Miko becomes an annoying character. Frankly, it’s the tension between them which annoys the audience. We can only watch the same cyclical bickering between children before it gets old.

I have noticed that there actually are a lot of people who do like Miko, and find Jack super annoying instead. It seems like people pick one or the other depending on how you interpret which one is causing the tension. When I watched tfp as a kid, I loved Miko and hated Jack. Like, hated hated him. Because I saw Miko as a fun punk rock kid and Jack as the one needlessly calling her out. Upon rewatching tfp as an adult (who works with kids a lot) I related far more to Jack, and so the situation flipped; I saw Miko’s actions as more frustrating to watch.

The writers did eventually try to fix this, with the one heart-to-heart scene between Miko and Jack. But it was kind of rushed, and didn’t leave any lasting change to their dynamic. They went right back to arguing.

Tldr: Miko and Jack are annoying together. Fans usually pick one of em as the cause to be annoyed at but honestly, they are both fine on their own. Children bickering is annoying even in a fictional cartoon lmao

It's been more than two years since Inazuma and I'm finally starting to appreciate Yae.

I think what threw me off was thinking of her as a trickster (although she is one as well) and what helped was thinking of her in terms of DnD alignments.

Yae is chaotic evil, and I don't mean it in a judgmental way, only in the way that her "meanness" is not a funny quirk, it's pretty much core to her character.

She's openly sadistic and she only does things for her own entertainment. She only behaves because of Ei, that beautiful trope of a fox falling in love with someone principled. Wrecking too much chaos would upset Ei so she plays nice.

Also I'm not even sure she's good influence on Ei most of the time. Evil fox advisor/courtesan is a Trope.

At the same time she's innocent in the way all yokai are innocent. She loves power in such self-gratuitous way, but she also loves mysteries of the universe and she's one of them.

I hate her. She's precious to me.

She also has the prettiest love confession I've ever seen.

"Let me tell you all that has happened over the last few centuries. [...] It will probably take me another few centuries to relay it to you."

We "liberated" Inazuma and left it with a lovely duo of a lawful evil ruler with a chaotic evil advisor/lover. Yay. The Traveler is a nice person indeed.

I think people should consider more ideas about why Breakdown and Bulkhead hate each other so much that isn't "Breakdown betrayed the Wreckers" because there are so many more things that could have happened, and here are some of my ideas:

>They fought 1v1 once because Breakdown was just being Breakdown, but after being beat, he kept trying to win against Bulkhead, starting a rivalry between the two.

>Breakdown wants to kill every one of the Wreckers but this one guy just won't die and he has to stick to his list of Wreckers in the order he wrote them in.

>Following up from that, Breakdown killing several of the canonically deceased Wreckers mentioned by Wheeljack and Bulkhead in Prime, making Bulkhead want to avenge their deaths.

>Cross-faction dating gone wrong (**not clickbait**)

>Secretly started meeting up as buddies during the war, but then Bulkhead found out about messed up shit Breakdown had done and they started to fight as enemies rather than secret friends.

>Met each other during a heated Autobot-Decepticon bar fight. Then they saw each other on the battlefield and beat each other up again.

>Friends before the war and wanted to stay friends during the war despite being on opposite sides, but then once again, Bulkhead seeing the things Breakdown did during the war.

>A bit boring but most likely; Stunticons and Wreckers just being rival teams in the war. No personal feelings they all just hate each other because they're the same team on opposite sides.

Christmas Special

            “Kusuo, the cookies are ready!” said (Y/N), pulling the pan out of the oven. “Ow.” They hissed as the metal pan burnt their finger for a second. They drew it back and shook it out.

            “Don’t hurt yourself,” said Saiki. His psychokinesis picked up the tray and set all the cookies to cool down while he also healed (Y/N)’s finger.

            “Thanks, Kusuo,” said (Y/N), smiling and kissed his cheek before walking to a cupboard.

Behind them, Saiki eyed the cookies—shaped like little people—and one began to float into the air.

            “No eating them until we’ve decorated,” said (Y/N), not even having to turn around. They knew their boyfriend well.

            Saiki let out a mighty sigh, and (Y/N) just laughed, holding icing and sprinkles. “They’ll be even more delicious when we’ve finished and they have icing, and you know it.”

            “Fine,” said Saiki. Not only did he know they were right, but, as usual, he was unable to say no to them (which was maybe why he thought they were right…chicken and the egg problem).

            “I was thinking we make our friends,” said (Y/N), excitedly setting out the icing. “I’ve gotten better at cookie art, and I think I can make chibi-versions of them on these gingerbread men.” They smiled excitedly.

            “Who are our friends?” said Saiki, feigning ignorance.

            “Your ‘bothers,’ as you’ve nicknamed them,” teased (Y/N), knowing he cared. “We have enough gingerbread for a bunch of friends. I was thinking at least Nendou, Kaidou, Kokomi, Miko, Chiyo, Akechi, Hairo, and Toritsuka.”

            “He’s our friend?” Saiki was really doubtful of that.

            “He’s a perv, but he’s got his moments,” said (Y/N), shrugging. They grinned. “But we’re not including Saiko.” Giggling, they pretended to be posh and put on an accent. “ ‘You didn’t capture me well enough, and I have my chefs prepare an entire cake designed after me every year!’ ”

            Saiki smirked. That was a good impression. “Who do you want to make?” He would let (Y/N) choose first so they could have as much fun as they wanted.

            “Hm…Miko, Kaidou, Kokomi, and Chiyo!” said (Y/N) with a grin.

            “Then I’ll do Nendou, Akechi, Hairo, and Toritsuka,” said Saiki.

            “Let’s get to work,” said (Y/N) excitedly.

            Saiki nodded and got to work. With his psychokinesis and art-related abilities, he was able to represent the people he knew fairly well (and by ‘fairly well’ he meant perfectly but then he dumbed it down so they looked funnier). They all had school uniforms on, but Nendou had little question marks to represent how thick he was, Akechi had giant white “text boxes” with scrawls of black to represent his rambles, Hairo had his usual energetic fire around him, and Toritsuka…was just Toritsuka. If Saiki added too much of his personality, it would be inappropriate. ��Maybe he’d add a tiny ghost and that would be enough.

            On (Y/N)’s part, they were also hard at work. Cookie Miko had sprinkles as barrettes all over her head, and (Y/N) carefully placed a round sprinkle in her hand as her crystal ball—they had been really excited to find those for this reason. Cookie Yumehara was also turning out quite nicely with some heart sprinkles around her because of her romantic personality. Cookie Kaidou was a lot of fun since (Y/N) added an “evil aura” around him for his battles of magic against Dark Reunion. Hey, they might tease him for it, but it was a cute, creative outlet. Satisfied with his cookie, (Y/N) put it with Cookie Yumehara.

            Cute, they thought, smiling.

            Teruhashi was next. (Y/N) happily made their friend with blue hair and put her in the same pose as everyone else. They added the golden glow that followed her around afterwards and nodded in satisfaction. Teruhashi looked adorable even as a cookie, unsurprisingly.

            Saiki watched (Y/N) work and looked at the remaining cookies—two. Floating one to him, he didn’t even have to think. He knew who he wanted to make. (Y/N) reached over and picked up the final cookie and smiled to themself. They knew who this was going to become.

            It was silent except for the soft Sinatra Christmas music playing through the house until (Y/N) and Saiki finished and looked up. Excitedly, (Y/N) smiled and looked at the tray of cookies.

            “They all look so good! You added their personalities, too!” said (Y/N), grinning. They knew he cared and paid attention to his friends. “That’s so cute.”

            “They’re so loud it’s impossible not to notice,” said Saiki.          

            “Uh-huh,” said (Y/N), shaking their head and grinning.

            “Yours look good,” said Saiki, seeing their knowing look. He saw through him like he was transparent. And I like it. No point (or ability) to lie there.

            “Thanks!” said (Y/N). “I tried to make it look like everyone and have important parts of them.” They paused and grinned. “And I made one more—here.” From behind their back, (Y/N) held up a Cookie Saiki.

            Saiki stared. It had his glasses, power dampeners, everything down to his deadpan expression. However, it did have a tiny sprinkle heart on his chest where his own heart would be. Oh, wow. It was so…sweet. (Y/N) saw him so nicely.

            “Do you like it?” said (Y/N) nervously.

            Saiki looked at them. “Of course I do.” He picked up another cookie. “And this one is for you.” He had also meant to surprise them by creating a Cookie (Y/N).

            They let out a surprised and pleased laugh, looking at the cookie. It had them in a little baker’s hat with hearts on it, and they were smiling widely. “It’s so cute,” said (Y/N). They smiled just as widely as the cookie’s expression and looked at Saiki with shining eyes. “I love it, Kusuo.”

            “I love you,” said Saiki, the words coming quickly.

            (Y/N)’s smile softened to a loving, gentle one. “I love you, too, Kusuo.”

            They put the cookies down and held out their hands. Saiki nodded, and (Y/N) hugged him. Saiki’s hands raised and pulled them close.

            “Merry Christmas, Kusuo,” whispered (Y/N), leaning back only so they could look him in the face.

            “Merry Christmas, (Y/N),” said Saiki. He leaned in to kiss them, and (Y/N) kissed back happily.

            The (Y/N) and Saiki Cookies lay side-by-side under the glow of Christmas lights, together just as (Y/N) and Saiki would be forever.

you tug her leash tighter, pulling her closer, teasingly. you know she wants to bite into your shoulder, leave pretty little indents from her fangs.

too bad she's muzzled, hm.

"you're being a bad girl." you giggle at her, kissing the muzzle, and she growls.

despite it all, she goes along with your charade, willingly handing the power to you as you tug her closer, pulling her into you. "behave yourself, and maybe i'll let you take it off when we're finished, yeah?"

miko huffs, grinding her cunt against yours like the good little pet you told her to be. soon enough, though, she's grown irritated. her ears are pressed flat to her head, teeth bared.

she's itching to bite you. she needs to sink her fangs into your skin. she hates that smug look on your face, as if you rule the world.

before you could speak again, she ripped the muzzle right off, pushing your thigh up harder to forcefully grind your clits together as you mewl, causing you to drop the leash.

you desperately try to grab the fabric, but she's faster than you. she merely yanks the collar off, tossing it across the room as her eyes practically glow, charged with electricity.

"playtime is over, little one. but i let you have your fun as i promised, didn't i?" she wraps a hand around your throat, gently squeezing to hear your breathy moans.

you grab her wrist, eyes teary as she scoffs. "oh, not so tough anymore, are we? looks like you aren't quite cut out to tame me." she laughs mockingly, leaning down, excitedly sinking her fangs into your skin to hear you cry for her.

Hear me out: Dan Heng having to put up with Yae Miko!Reader’s antics. Not only are they cunning and mischievous, but they probably goad and enable Dan Heng into indulging in some mischief himself, which…honestly spells chaos for anyone unfortunate enough to cross their minds, but especially enemies of the Astral Express (or anyone Reader might deem as threatening the other crew members). The Unshackled, Sanctus Medicus, the borisin, the Preceptors, the IPC, the Banacademic Office’s Assistananas. Chances are, Reader has screwed them over somehow (and maybe even humiliated them) without ever lifting more than a finger — and they’ll gladly rub salt into the wound to drive home the ungodly karma.

They’re very sweet to Dan Heng, tho, in their own exasperating way; which probably contributes to March’s accusations of Reader playing favorites.

That being said, not even Dan Heng himself is safe from Reader’s tomfoolery. 😅

“Evening,” he replied flatly, not bothering to look at you, though he couldn’t help but sense the energy in your presence, like the calm before a storm.

You sidled up beside him, leaning casually on the railing. "You know," you began, your tone deceptively sweet, "I’ve been thinking. The crew’s been too comfortable lately. Maybe it’s time to remind them how exciting life aboard the Astral Express can be."

Dan Heng didn’t react right away. He’d learned long ago to never fully indulge in your schemes, but your words always had a way of pulling him in. The thought of unsettling the others—especially the more uptight members of the crew—was something he couldn’t entirely resist. After all, no one was truly safe from your antics, not even him.

“You know the Trailblazer’s fond of tricks, don’t you?” you smirked, nudging him with your shoulder. “I think you’ve been far too good lately. Maybe it’s time you joined me for some fun.”

Dan Heng sighed, but even as the breath left his lips, he felt his resolve weaken. You had a way of getting under his skin—drawing him into your antics with a precision that both frustrated and intrigued him. Normally, he would’ve resisted—his responsibility aboard the Express always came first. But with you, the lines were always a little more blurred. You made everything feel… lighter.

“March is already accusing you of playing favorites,” he said, the faintest hint of amusement slipping into his usually guarded tone. “I don’t think adding fuel to that fire is wise.”

You chuckled, your voice soft and melodic, betraying none of the mischief simmering beneath. “Oh, Dan Heng, who would I be without a little fun? Besides, what harm could a bit of chaos do? After all, the IPC won’t be the only ones suffering if we don’t make a statement.”

The mention of the IPC made him pause. The ongoing conflict with them was a constant weight on his mind, one he preferred to avoid discussing. But your tone—effortless, confident—reminded him that there was always more to your mischief than met the eye. You never did anything without a reason. And when it came to protecting the Astral Express or those you cared about, your actions often spoke louder than words.

The mischievous edge to your voice sent a shiver down his spine. He could already picture it—the smug faces of the IPC executives contorting into confusion and frustration as you unraveled their plans. Chaos. But it was a chaos he could almost enjoy, especially when you made it seem so effortless.

Dan Heng hesitated, then finally muttered, his voice a mixture of exasperation and reluctant amusement, “Fine. But if we’re doing this, I’m not going easy on them.”

Your eyes sparkled with glee. “That’s the spirit. Just follow my lead, and we’ll make sure they remember the consequences of underestimating us.”

In that moment, it felt as though the universe itself held its breath, waiting to see what would unfold. And then, in an instant, everything shifted. You sprang into action, weaving a web of illusions and misdirection that left the crew scrambling. Dan Heng, despite his best intentions to remain detached, found himself swept up in the whirlwind of pranks and subtle sabotage.

The IPC never stood a chance. Their every move undone by tricks and magic they couldn’t possibly fathom. As for the crew—well, Dan Heng wasn’t sure how they’d ever look at him the same way again.

March would probably have another complaint about favoritism. Himeko would shake her head, as always, in quiet resignation. But Dan Heng? He found himself fighting the urge to smile as the chaos unfurled around him.

Sam ending up throught groundbringe fuckery in Tfp would be such a vacation for him i think. Less action, less aliens ripping each other to shreds every miniute, the difference between how bay formers and tfp formers look.. Sam would look at tfp cons deadpan not afraid at all

Meanwhile the kids in Bayverse would get treated like sparklings probably(wattch Miko growl once at a con and promptly get adopted) Raf especially. Jack would take one look at everything and just go to work in NEST cafeteria until others can figure a way back home for him, Miko and Raf because he's NOT getting involved in this housefire(would avoid bay!Op like a plague something something honorary prime nonsense)

Sam is right there, chilling and spazzing on the minor things (to everyone else in TFP), while completely blasé to the major world-changing/world-ending things. He's been in more than one "end of human civilization" scenarios. It's not his first rodeo, and he's not even counting the doomsday panic of 2000 and 2012. He's immune to crazy, otherworldly shit via alien technology. If anything, he's weirdly disappointed over the lack of alienness of their Artifacts.

He literally resurrected his version of Optimus, met the Dynasty of Primes, had the Allspark in his mind, and dealt with the Fallen that manipulated gravity fields.

Sam's treating it like an unwanted vacation to a place that lied upon the brochure. That guy is like a powerful magnet for destroying Decepticon plans. He would probably fall into a chasm of a hidden Energon mine or interrupt an Artifact expedition to his advantage because 1) Allspark guided him, or 2) he was getting to antsy in the base of nothingness (no human personnel, no cafeteria, no agents, no systems or tasks for him) and did a runner.

He definitely puts his foot in his mouth when he meets Arcee. Sam would never get used to their more human-like frames.

Sam's boogeyman would be M.E.C.H.

Meanwhile, the Jasper Trio is stuck on Diego Garcia. They're taken back by the immense operation that's N.E.S.T. and feeling really lost. Miko doesn't have a Bulkhead-equivalent, Jack doesn't know what to make of the triplets, and Raf isn't clicking this Bumblebee.

Because everyone is too busy, they're trying to slot into things without getting too underfoot. Jack already has certifications related to his fast food job, so he gets into the mess hall to prepare meals for hundreds. Raf and Miko get into the science portions. Raf is making a name for himself as he has the most success bridging tech and understanding the Cybertronian script. Miko likes explosions.

The kids are boggled by all the politicking that goes into it and the more intensely magical things with the Allspark.

Those three will never, ever not laugh at Dorito-Starscream.

(Both sides have the not-so-fun realization about the malfunction connected to Unicron in the middle of Earth. That's too farfetched for anyone, but the truth literally grabbed the respective Primes with giant elemantal fists to viciously shake them.)
