Hi I don't want to do my physics assignment so I'm gonna pick my favourite songs from the mechs albums I've listened to so far :p
Ok so in the order I listened to the albums!!
High Noon Over Camelot
Right off the bat, Skin and Bone was my favourite. Like, the vibe?? And also the Saxons singing off of each other like that?? It's so bouncy /pos
Holder of the GRAIL joined like 5 minutes later lmao. I love the story and Captain Mathea is honestly a character I got way too invested in!! Helps that it's very nice sounding to my ear :))
I am now also partial to Blood and Whiskey!! Tbh at first I didn't get the hype but damn is fucking good. Jessica Law, you terrify me /pos my voice actually gives out if I try to sing Guinevere's parts
The Bifrost Incident
Loki immediately was one of my favourites bc of the way the words are sung?? It's just so?? Auditorially pleasing?? Like it??? Just slips on my brain??? God I love it shsjdjr
Ragnarok II is also really good especially the ending ahdjfjf Void is banging and Raphaella as Odin is just so haunting but also creepy but also also also /pos
Losing Track also charmed me eventually, mostly with the chorus :p absolute banging lyrics and the way it fragmented and stuff was so hshjwsjrjrk
Fun fact actually about my TBI experience!! My phone refused to play Red Signal for a good several hours!! I changed devices, turned WiFi off and on, my phone off and on, changed videos, etc, etc!! It took me days to hear Red Signal for a second time!! Oh also I have the Expert Testimony segment memorized now :p I can only recite it with my shitty British accent tho
Once Upon A Time In Space
Rose Red!!! It's a round!! It's pretty!! Is that a viola??? Another immediate favourite!! Oh and also, Jessica Law!!!! Old King Cole is another one, I just think it's neat :))
Honourable mention to Sleeping Beauty bc it gave me actual whiplash the first time I listened lmaooo
Ulysses Dies At Dawn
Riddle of the Sphinx!!! Trial by Song!!!!!!!
Trial of Song (listening to it rn!!) is so melancholy and so beautiful nejdjjffnr (LOOK I AM NORMAL ABOUT JESSICA LAW AND THE SONGS SHE SINGS THAT IVE HEARD OKAY) (Okay I did loop the Mermaid's Revenge for like 3 days and landed it in my top 3 most played songs on Spotify. So what.) and I just jwjeje it's so pretty!!! Sbbsbdbdb
Riddle of the Sphinx is so like?? Catchy?? I love the chorus?? Again, story is good!! Oedipus' rise and fall is so interesting?? And also good vibes 👍
Honourable mention to Ties that Bind!! Ariadne's story is also very interesting and also RAPHAELLA LA COGNIZI??? THAT IS SOME BANGING SINGING LIKE HOLY SHIT!!!
Okay cool now I need to go do my physics

several mechanisms songs and tma statements: immortality is bad actually, you will suffer, the best case scenario for YOU is for your mind and soul to warp so terribly that you no longer understand or care how awful it is and instead inflict pain on others, but most likely you will suffer either from the awfulness of unending existence or from being changed into Something Horrible or from devoting all your time now to avoiding death just a little longer
me, staring very hard at jonah "why does a man seek to destroy the world? for immortality and power” magnus: interesting
#the magnus archives#jonny has some ideas about immortality and i think they're going to apply to jonah#also is this post largely bcos 'the ignominious demise of dr pilchard' came on my playlist just now?#...perHAPS#am i also thinking quite specifically of freya in the bifrost incident and how she is now eternally watching but fused into the train?#unable to speak unable to do anything just always watching her own personal horror?#ALSO perhaps#...........'why is it always immortality why does no one ever want anything more interesting' too tho#i mean ok it could be argued that jonah is already all twisted like the olympians or king cole#but listen... i want him to suffer more

poison & wine masterlist
After a few minutes, Loki was forced to let you go. You had yet to stop crying and he didn’t know what he was meant to do if this continued on. He couldn’t take you back to the palace in this state but he couldn’t stay on the bridge any longer and risk someone finding you like this too.
“Mount my horse,” Loki instructs you as he leads you to the black stallion adorned in his colors. “You’re in no state to ride back on your own so you’ll ride with me.”
“But…” you whisper as your stare turns to the horse you had brought along.
“I’ll send someone to come pick him up,” Loki assures you. “Just get on my horse.”
Loki watches as you climb onto his horse and settle into his saddle. When he’s convinced you won’t do anything brash, which he isn’t entirely convinced at the moment, Loki steps away.
“I’ll be back. Just wait for me.”
You don’t argue when he turns away and leaves you behind. You simply watch as he makes his way into the dome.
“Is the Lady Y/N alright?” Heimdall asks as the prince enters.
“Yes, no thanks to you.”
“I knew you would catch her, your majesty,” Heimdall remarks. “There was no need for me to intervene.”
Loki shakes his head at the guardian knowing that there was no point in arguing further.
“What did you tell her, Heimdall?” Loki asks as he glared up at the All-Seer.
“She wanted to know who her father is,” Heimdall answers. “I reminded her that my loyalty is to the king.”
“Don’t drag this out,” Loki snaps. “She’s deeply upset. What did you tell her?”
Heimdall knows better than to reveal such a secret to the prince. You had come to the truth on your own and the prince would have to do the same.
“I gave her clues to lead her to an altogether different truth,” Heimdall states. “She was smart enough to find it.”
Loki hated when Heimdall spoke in riddles but that was all the All-Seer was going to give him. The only way he would find out would be through you if you allowed him to know.
He turns his back with the intent of heading back to you but Heimdall wasn’t done with him yet.
“This game you’re playing with her at the moment,” Heimdall speaks. “I suggest you put an end to it.”
“Is that a threat?”
“No,” Heimdall answers as his stare shifts to watch something else entirely. “But it can be.”
Loki scoffs and walks away.
He held no fear towards the All-Seer and his attempts of intimidation but he couldn’t help but keep the warning in mind. There must be a reason for it and Loki had every intention in figuring it out.
The ride was silent and slow. Neither of you were willing to be the first to speak and perhaps it all had to do with the distraction of the thoughts revolving in your mind. You had broken down and out of everyone, it was in front of Loki. You didn’t know how to manage that situation. In fact, you didn’t know how you were meant to manage any situation at all.
You were in Asgard, a thousand light years away from your home on Earth, and you had found your answer. The answer being something you already knew. That you were on your own.
“We’re here.”
You frown when you realize that Loki had steered the horse out of the palace path into some unknown forest.
“Where are we?” you ask as Loki leads the horse under the shade of a nearby tree.
“We’re just outside of the city gates,” Loki answers as he dismounts from his horse. “There’s a small river nearby where Thor and I used to play. It’s relatively safe and out of the way that no one ever thinks of coming through here.”
“But why?”
“Your eyes are still red from crying,” Loki points out. “We can go back if you like but I believe you and I would prefer to avoid the royal court's attention on this matter.”
Loki had a point and so you agree on the break. You dismount and the moment you’re off, Loki is quick to whisper something to the horse before sending him off.
“He’ll be back when I call for him,” Loki tells you. “Just sent him out to get a drink.”
You nod at his explanation and allow yourself to relax. You take a deep breath of fresh air and take a seat on the shaded grass. Loki follows suit leaning against the tree.
“Are you going to tell me what you and Heimdall spoke of?”
You let out a sigh knowing you had to.
“I asked him about my father,” you answer as you wrap your arms around your knees to rest your head upon. “Heimdall couldn’t tell me much but the little he managed to give away … well, it was enough for me to come to a big conclusion.”
“Which was?”
“The reason why my father never came back for me and my mother is because he died before he was able to do so,” you can’t help the dark chuckle that escapes you. “My life is not at risk. I was safe all along apparently.”
You’re met with silence which doesn’t surprise you. Loki stares out into the forest in front of you and lets out a sigh.
“I… I’m sorry.”
“Don’t be,” you tell him. “I found the answer I was looking for. All matters have been put to rest.”
“But…”
“No, there’s no more buts, I just… I just want to move past this.”
“Y/N.”
You look over at Loki who’s watching you with that same concern he had when he caught you from falling to your death.
“What?” you ask.
“I am not the best at managing my emotions but even I know that you can’t simply move past this.”
He was right but you didn’t want to admit that to him. You wanted to be numb and remain numb.
“I don’t want to cry anymore,” you whisper. “I don’t…”
“You don’t what?” Loki asks.
You swallow not wanting to admit what you feared the most.
“I don’t want to be alone anymore,” you whisper. “But I don’t… I don’t have anyone. There’s no one left.”
“You have friends down in Midgard,” Loki reminds you. “The Man of Iron and the Captain… the Witch and the Widow.”
“I can’t call them my friends when all I do is push them away because I’m afraid of growing attached,” you answer. “You and I both know that I will outlive them all anyway and then I’ll be left on my own once again so what’s the point? My father was the only person I could rely on and it turns out he’s been dead all along.”
“Y/N…”
“People aren’t meant to be alone. We need a community. We need companionship,” you explain. “I thought I could go without but I have been on my own for two centuries and I can’t take it anymore. So what am I meant to do now? What is there left for me to do?”
You lean against the tree in resignation trying to find your own answer to the questions you’ve been asking since you left Heimdall.
“Your father, though he is dead, must have left you a legacy to follow through,” Loki tells you. “All we need to do is find it.”
“Loki…” you sigh out unsure why he was so intent in dragging this out longer.
“Just listen,” he interrupts you. “I looked through the travel records and found nothing.”
“Ok?” you answer confused as to how that mattered. “Maybe someone forgot to write it down.”
“We are precise here in Asgard. Such a thing wouldn’t happen,” Loki explains. “Which leaves a unique conclusion to explain it all.”
“That is…?”
“Your father, whatever his role in court was, must have been very important and private for his travel records to Midgard to be sealed. Only Odin has access to those.”
“But what kind of… That doesn’t make any sense,” you stammer out. “What could he be doing down on Earth that it had to be kept secret?”
“I don’t know,” Loki answers. “If you no longer wish to find your father, I will let the matter rest but I believe you owe it to yourself to know.”
You let out a sigh.
Loki seemed genuinely invested in helping you now. It made you suspicious.
“You’re not trying to convince me because you still need me to fake court you, are you?”
“No,” Loki smiles. “I have a feeling you would regret missing the opportunity to find some real answers. You deserve to know the truth.”
You knew he was right. If you went back to Earth empty-handed, you would regret it for the rest of your life.
“Ok, I’m in,” you tell him. “You get me my answers and I’ll keep fake courting you.”
“It’s a deal,” Loki agrees. “Are you ready to head back?”
“As ready as I’ll ever be,” you sigh out.
Loki stands up and offers his hand for you to take so you do. He pulls you up and surprisingly doesn’t let your hand go.
“I uh…” Loki hesitates for a moment before continuing. “I thought I should let you know that… that you’re not alone.”
“How so?” you ask him.
You couldn’t help the smile that fought its way to your lips. He was suddenly nervous that he couldn’t even meet your eyes anymore.
“You have me,” Loki answers. “I am an immortal with nothing but time in my hands. I can be there for you for as many years as you have left.”
You squeeze his hand in gratitude and he finally meets your stare.
“I would like that,” you tell him. “Thank you.”
Loki nods at your answer and lets go of your hand. He clears his throat and the simple gesture shifts him back to his usual princely self. He turns away from you and whistles causing his horse to trot back to you instantly.
Loki grabs the reigns and motions for you to mount first. Once you’re settled, he climbs up and settles himself behind you.
“We should probably come up with a story as to why we left the palace to visit Heimdall,” you tell Loki as he pulls you back to the palace path.
“Simple, you wanted to check in on your friends in Midgard,” Loki answers. “And if someone asks if you’ve been crying just tell them the truth.”
“My father’s dead?” you ask confused.
“No,” Loki objects quickly. “I was referring to your bridge incident.”
You can’t help but be shocked at the reminder.
“I can’t believe I almost fell off the Bifrost,” you mutter in realization. You look back at him with a laugh. “There should really be some kind of warning sign to prevent another accident like mine.”
“A warning sign?” Loki mocks. “It’s common sense to not get close to the ledge.”
You can’t help but laugh and continue to pester him for a solution.
“Ok then maybe set up some rails or a fence,” you offer. “Your first order of business when you become king is to put some rails up.”
Loki shakes his head as you continue to ramble on possible solutions for him to consider. You look back at him in amusement and he can’t help but smile in response. The return of your happiness was contagious and he allowed himself the peaceful reprieve of it.

okay if i'm Finally going to get into the mechs once & for all where do i start??
:0 HELLO WELL I AM. VERY VERY EXCITED
ok so I’d recommend starting with once upon a time (in space) then going through the rest of the albums in chronological order (once upon a time (in space) -> ulysses dies at dawn -> tales to be told -> high noon over camelot -> the bifrost incident -> tales to be told vol. 2 -> death to the mechanisms) (dttm isn’t exactly a new album it’s jsut a live recording of their last show where they perform some pre-existing songs + some other additional ones) & also!! I’d recommend checking out the fiction section on their website!! It doesn’t really matter what order you read the fiction in as long as you’ve already listened to the corresponding album!!!!! also just. be warned mechs content has a lot of violence/death/alcohol stuff/ just general Horrors Of War & various problems issues that come with that but I mean. that’s what’s expected of a bunch of fucked up immortal steampunk space pirates <3 ALSO if you want any links to live shows/other lore stuff I am very happy to supply you with such things >:D
#JUNE YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW EXCITED I AM ABOUT THIS YOU HAVE TO TELL ME WHAT YOU THINK OF THEM IN#*IM#SO FCUKIGN HYPED :D :D :D#I REALLY HOPE YOU LIKE THEM 👀#asks#tbh some of the style was a bit jarring at first but it grew on me FAST (obviously sjfjsjg)

Soulbonds and Fairy Dust
TITLE: Soulbonds and Fairy Dust CHAPTER NO./ONE SHOT: 37/?
AUTHOR: nekoamamori ORIGINAL IMAGINE: Imagine one of the fae has been helping the Avengers, jumping in to help them on missions and vanishing before Shield can bring her in. Loki joins the team and convinces her to come talk to the team and consider joining before Shield takes more drastic measures. RATING: T (so far) NOTES/WARNINGS: Also on AO3 here
You spent the afternoon with Loki, kissing him, cuddling with him, and… quite a bit more than kissing him. You had no shame in that particular matter. Loki was you soulbond and you’d been separated for centuries. Of course you wanted to have afternoons of sex with him.
“You are absolutely radiant, my love,” Loki purred between rounds.
You smiled lovingly up at him. “And you’re handsome as ever, my prince,” you replied and you both dove into another round at the same time.
That evening, right around the time your stomachs started growling insistently enough that you couldn’t ignore them anymore, Thor knocked on Loki’s door, interrupting you. Thor did not want to walk in to whatever Loki and his lady were up to, and having a new soulbond himself he had an idea what you were up to. You both groaned as you got up, but you were hungry anyway, so you didn’t have much choice.
Loki opened the door to find his brother on the other side. “Yes, Thor?” he asked, just this side of polite and you could see the effort it took for him to be that polite to his brother.
Thor grinned knowingly, looking over yours and Loki’s disheveled appearance. He should just be grateful you’d summoned clothes on the way to the door. “Stark ordered pizza for dinner. It just arrived,” Thor told you, hiding his smirk.
Loki nodded and looked to you with love in his eyes. “Come along, love. Let’s go get something to eat, shall we?” he asked gently. It wasn’t how you’d prefer to be spending your afternoon, but you knew you needed to eat.
You nodded and took Loki’s hand. “Excellent idea,” you agreed and dragged Loki from the room. You were starving and pizza sounded like the perfect solution to that problem. Loki chuckled and let you drag him from the room, just as hungry after your recreational afternoon.
Thor gave Loki a knowing smirk at your disheveled state. Loki glared at him in return. “Not a word, brother,” Loki snarled.
“I have not said a word,” Thor replied pleasantly with a wider knowing smirk. Loki gave him a pointed look in reply. Thor’s smirk didn’t leave his face as you all headed downstairs. Loki just rolled his eyes in reply and you ignored the moron boys, intent on your quest for dinner.
Before Nat would let you at the pizzas, she insisted on checking your wrist to make sure Loki had healed it properly. You understood that she’d been worried since no one had seen you or Loki since you’d gotten home. Loki, however, raised an eyebrow at Nat, questioning her for her behavior.
“Healing isn’t your specialty, right?” Nat asked as she deemed your injury healed enough. She let your arm go and you rushed past her to get your pizza. “And she doesn’t like being a burden on anyone, to the point that I don’t trust her to actually say she’s still hurting,” Nat explained. You rolled your eyes. You could still hear them after all.
“It isn’t my specialty, no, but a burn like the one she received wasn’t that complicated to heal. But you are right about her. Thank you, Lady Natasha,” Loki replied warmly, glad that the team cared enough about you to worry over you.
Nat raised an eyebrow. “That was a nasty burn she received,” she said suspiciously.
Loki nodded with a sigh. Nat was too perceptive. “Healing isn’t a specialty of mine,” he agreed. “I think the increased power has to do with the soulbond. My mother told me it boosts magical energy. That’s why I was able to heal her,” Loki explained to her. Nat nodded, accepting that answer.
In the meantime, you’d stolen an entire pizza and taken your spot on their couch. Loki took his own box and joins you on your couch. The team knew how Thor was about food, so they didn’t question that you and Loki were eating an entire pizza each, just as Thor was. You both begin devouring their whole pizzas, starving after your long day. Just because the team understood, didn’t mean they didn’t look impressed at you eating an entire pizza on your own. You usually didn’t eat like the boys.
“So, did you have an enjoyable afternoon?” Thor teased. Moron just couldn’t help himself any longer.
Loki glared at Thor. “And what’s it to you?” he demanded between bites of pizza.
“You’ve teased me enough about the ladies I’ve courted over the year. Turnabout is fair play,” Thor replied, stupidly continuing to tease Loki. He should know that was only going to end up with him being stabbed. But Thor always was a moron. Loki continued to glare and refused to answer the original question and proceeded to ignore Thor.
“Women have actually wanted to date him?” You teased Thor back between bites of pizza. You were eating as fast as you could shovel pizza into your face, but paused long enough to tease the moron.
Loki laughed. “Apparently. It’s a little crazy,”
“Are you sure we did Sif a favor?” you continued teasing. It was fun to annoy Thor.
Loki actually pondered that. “Now that you mention it, I’m not sure…” he teased.
Thor growled and jumped to his feet. “Surely you dare not insult me so!” he snarled at them, though you could tell that his temper wasn’t all the way up yet. But it was close.
“Brother, do you not know how to take a joke? We’re just teasing. I couldn’t be happier that my brother has finally accepted his soulbound,” Loki replied placatingly. He didn’t want to provoke Thor into actually losing his temper, just tease him a little.
Thor huffed and plopped back down. He wasn’t in the best of moods thanks to leaving Sif on Asgard. Neither you nor Loki had realized just how bad it was until now.
Loki’s eyes glazed as he reached across the realms with his magic. He needed to speak with his mother on Asgard. /Mother, would it be possible to send Sif to Midgard? I think my brother needs her right now. His temper is off the charts at the moment/ His tone was worried. It wasn’t like Thor to be this out of control.
Frigga’s sigh came across the connection in exasperation. /I tried to warn him, but he wouldn’t listen…/
/Thor is hotheaded, Mother. He never listens to reason,/ Loki reminded her. She knew how her sons were.
/Yes, but he usually listens to his mother. Of course his temper is out of control. He has a new soul bond that he is not tending properly. I’ll convince Sif to go visit/ Frigga replied easily
/Thank you, Mother/ Loki sighed in relief. Thor would be much better once Sif got here.
/Of course, darling. I assume your temper is more reasonable since your soulbond is there and safe with you?/
/Besides what happened earlier today, I am absolutely perfect, Mother./ Loki replied warmly and found that he really was perfect. You were safe with him and his life was back in order now.
/What happened earlier?/ Frigga prompted, concerned.
/Just an incident with the man in charge of the organization I’m doing my penance with. He had his agents attach an iron device to Sig. It really hurt her. I was nearly about to murder someone right then and there./ Loki admitted. His temper had understandably flared at that.
/Of course. It is unbearable to feel your heart in pain when you cannot help her/ Frigga told him kindly. She understood after how many battles her husband had been in. She worried about him every time he went off to battle and hurt every time he came back injured.
/Precisely. If you need to, would you just have Sif sent here? I know Thor needs her right now, especially to cement their bond/
/She’s on her way to the bifrost now. I believe she had been looking for an excuse to make her way to Midgard…/ Frigga replies, clearly amused by whatever excuses Sif had been trying to think up.
Loki’s chuckled carried across the link. /I would not doubt that. Thank you, Mother/ he ended the connection and his eyes unglazed.
Loki turned his attention back to Thor. “Brother, I believe you’ll have a surprise coming your way very soon,” he said with a grin to his brother, glad to have fixed this for him.
Thor looked over at him with a glare. “I’m not in the mood for your tricks, brother,” he snarled.
Loki smirked in reply. “It’s no trick. Take a look out the window for yourself,” he said and gestured to the window in question.
The lights of the Bifrost appeared outside the tower’s window an instant later. Thor looked surprised for a moment before he went rushing from the room to investigate and see who was coming from Asgard.
“What’s up with him?” Nat asked, knowing Loki would answer her questions, though he might not for someone like Stark.
So because it was Nat and he liked Nat, Loki answered. “He left Asgard long before he should have,” he explained. “He was just soulbound to Lady Sif right before we left. He didn’t treat the soulbond as he should have. This should fix that.” Ok, it wasn’t the best explanation ever, but the team accepted it since the Bifrost lights said a real explanation was coming.
You curled yourself better in Loki’s arms. “Thor denied the bond when it first came into existence and then left Asgard almost immediately afterwards,” you added to the explanation. “Which was something he shouldn’t have done. It makes the bond extremely fragile,” you were the mistress of bonds. You knew such things. “Which isn’t helping his mood any,” you leaned up and kissed Loki’s cheek, glad he hadn’t been that dumb when your bond first came into existence.
“Exactly. Now that Sif is here, his mood should improve immensely,” Loki told the others.
Thor and Sif came into the common room a minute later. Thor’s arm was around Sif when they came in and he looked to be in a much better moon. Loki smirked at his brother, obviously feeling superior. “Feeling better, brother?” he teased.
Thor growled at him over Sif’s head. “Shut up, brother,” he snarled
Loki raised an eyebrow at Thor’s behavior. “I can always have mother call Sif back home,” he replied dryly. If that was all the thanks he would get for being nice, he wouldn’t bother.
“You could try,” Thor replied, possessive about his soulbond. It was clear, especially to you, that the soulbond was really fragile to put Thor in that mood.
“I had mother send Sif here to correct your mood. You’re the imbecile the denied the bond and then left Asgard right after accepting it. That is not my fault,” Loki replied, unfazed by Thor’s temper.
Thor opened his mouth to say something, likely stupid, but Sif clapped her hand over it before he could say anything. “Your brother is an oaf and when he stops being stupid will be glad you intervened,” she said for Thor. She gave you and Loki a bright smile. “Hey, Loki, Sigyn,” she turned to the rest of the room. “Thor’s friends,” she greeted them.
Loki smiled and inclined his head in return greeting. “It is good to see you again, Sif. Especially when you will help get my brother back in line,” he added with a teasing smirk. Sif could keep Thor in line.
Sif smirked. “He always did need a swift kick in the ass to remember to behave,” she teased, her hand still firmly over the grumbly Thor’s mouth.
Loki laughed. “That could not be more true,” he agreed.
Sif grinned. “So where should I take him to administer said swift kick?” she asked you while the team stared dumbfounded at this Asgardian who was handing Thor’s ass to him with no effort.
You giggled at her and the team’s reactions to her. “His bedroom is up on the seventh floor. You can’t miss it,” you suggested innocently.
“Perfect,” Sif replied and proceeded to drag Thor toward the elevator. “Nice to meet you, Thor’s friends!” she said.
And absolutely no one moved to help Thor.

@herebehunters tagged me and i am always terrible at doing tagging games because i never know who to tag but i’m doing this one okay!! i’m doing it!! because it’s nice!!! Ok I’m reblogging this again cause I have THOUGHTS NOW. For context, I am listening to The Bifrost Incident and Tales to Be Told Vol. 2 while I write this.
Firstly, Jurgen Leitner was totally Head of Slytherin House at some point. I headcanon that he was Head before Slughorn got the post.
Library mages, I think have lots of potential. I would say that due to their field of study, they all have the potential to become avatars of any entity, but it’s not forced. There are definitely plenty of mages that aren’t avatars and are perfectly happy just studying the entities. I also headcanon that the mages also discover new spells related to the Entities in partnership with the Unspeakables. And a few of these spells like “quavis deformationis” are eventually circulated through the Hogwarts curriculum, but I would say 6th and 7th year only. And there’s definitely some sort of program for students that either want to become avatars or mages so that they know what they’re getting into, and there are actual Avatars teaching these programs based on their Entity. For example, Jon would be teaching about the Eye (because he’s definitely still an Eye Avatar in this verse - just not completely groomed or prepped by Jonah.) As for other careers in the wizarding world, there are definitely some that either require or benefit from a study of the Entities.
There’s also some sort of international aspect like how there are international sister institutes to Magnus, and there are most definitely conferences and special trips to other Ministries and their Institutes.
I would say that there isn’t a super high population of Avatars turning to the Dark Side, but those that do become extremely well known and those are the Entities and Avatars that end up getting more stigmatized as a result. (Simon Fairchild/The Vast...)
I thought putting DnD lore into this would be tricky but actually... like how mages/avatars are separate categories of, the classes of DnD would be like subcategories. Like a cleric mage or a rouge avatar of the Hunt, stuff like that. Now, there are a few classes that overlap so I don’t think it’s feasible to fit all of them into the lore here.
(Side Note: Red Signal has started playing. Jesus Christ.)
But definitely Cleric, Rouge, Druid, and Artificer are ones to think about.
Ok, now the Mechs. Not only are they immortal travelers, but just like their Spotify bio says, they sing of what they find. So they’re totally the ones responsible for recording Harry’s story. And I like to think that at some point they get a hold of the Map (jury’s out on if they end up keeping it or losing it) but they definitely have it long enough to expand past Hogwarts, but only in a way that’s accessible through a secondary password. (The Map is totally Vast-aligned by the way.)
House-wise, I think quite a lot of Ravenclaws and Slytherins become library mages.
(Side Note #2: The flute in Ragnorok II: The Calling? IMMACULATE).
(Side Note #3: Ragnorok V: End of the Line is making me have BIG SAD FEELINGS).
Ok, I think that’s everything, but I’ll add edits if I think of anything else.
Imagine a universe, shared by Harry Potter,The Magnus Archives,The Mechanisms, the whole entirety of D&D’s lore and so many more.In senior classes of Defence Against The Dark Arts at Hogwarts, there are being studied the 15 fears.Jurgen Leitner used to be a teacher at Hogwarts of the very same classes(possibly also a head teacher of the Slytherin house, share your own views on that) but left the position to pursue a career of a researcher of dark magic attached to literature and ended up working in the Ministry of Magic.Him,Jonathan Sims,Gertrude Robinson and multiple others fall under a special category in the magic world, known as ,,librarian mages”.He might have or not obtained the Marauders’ Map at some point, meaning that the map in question is technically a Leitner.Jonah Magnus, who has technically lived for at least 200 years on end without aging has probably obtained the Philosopher’s Stone and uses its properties for the purpose.Him and Albus Dumbledore used to be very close friends before Jonah got overly fascinated by the dark arts and ended up turning into a proxy of Voldemort,as he received the powers of The Eye as a payment for his services to the dark lord. The Distortion’s door trick is a spell, studied in transfiguration class, known as ,,quavis deformationis”(from the Latin,,quavis deformatione” having a similar meaning to ,,distortion”) and is a form of teleportation. As Harry Potter got attacked by the dark forces as a baby,he has been touched by The Vast(suggested by the lightning fractal scar on his forehead) and has the potential of turning into an avatar of it.In terms of avatars, they’re yet another classification group in the magic world but there’s somewhat of a stigma surrounding avatarship due to many of them turning to the dark side/Voldemort(as Jonah Magnus did). The Magnus Institute is a branch of the Ministry of Magic, dedicated to exploration and studying of the unknown parts of the magic universe and muggles can come and contribute to the research(by giving statements)-although they have no idea that they’re being in a point that’s perfectly balanced between the magic world and the muggle one.A vast majority of the staff in the institute are squibs(mage-born people who have no magical powers, the opposite of muggle-born wizards).I enjoy thinking that Michael Distortion has inherited a family business of a little magic shop on Hogsmeade where he’s currently working at.The band of wanderlusting space pirate hermits, calling themselves The Mechanisms, roam through space for centuries and explore the vastness of the universe, making a great contribution to the metaphysical astronomy;they’re also immortal due to their obtainment of fragments of the Philosopher’s Stone. Continue the chain and reblog with your own headcanons👁

Maelstrom
TITLE: Maelstrom CHAPTER NO./ONE SHOT: Chapter 7 AUTHOR: wolfpawn ORIGINAL IMAGINE: Imagine helping Loki leave his physically and emotionally abusive girlfriend. You treat him with kindness and respect, and with time, as he falls for you, you teach him that love isn’t supposed to hurt. RATING: Mature NOTES/WARNINGS: Trigger Warning - This story is going to deal with emotional and physical abuse by a female abuser to her male partner.
Maelstrom - a situation or state of confused movement or violent turmoil.
The news spread quickly around the palace of what had occurred. So many scoffed at the idea of a man being the victim, more scoffed that he must not be much of a man if a woman could do such things to him and for him to do nothing in retaliation. Some questioned what he had done to warrant it. But other acknowledged the severity of the issue, many solely as a result of how others dismissed it, shocked to see something so serious was dismissed so quickly when, if it had been a woman, they would have listened.
Cara ensured every note in her possession regarding everything was perfect. She even did diagrams that showed every wound she saw and treated. In all her interviews, she ensured her answers were concise and accurate. There were a few situations she could not assist with as she had never known of them. Alfred had revealed a lot of other incidences that she had not been aware of, she always was honest regarding her knowledge or lack of knowledge of such events.
A few days before everything was due to come in front of the court, Cara was filling documents on a patient that was planning to move to Alfheim who needed their records to bring with them. She had not seen Loki since the day that everything was brought into the open but she accepted and respected his choice. She did what she did because she cared about him and she would stand by it.
When there was a knock on her door, she gave consent of the person to come in, rising from her chair when she saw who it was that was entering.
‘I hope I'm not disturbing you.’
‘Allmother.’ she curtsied. ‘Not at all, I am merely doing some paperwork. How can I assist you?’
‘I just came to thank you. I have become more aware of everything regarding my son and the more I learn, the more I am grateful to you.’
‘It was nothing more than anyone else would have done, Allmother.’
‘Your comments before you left that day, how you said you did it for him and were willing to accept his anger, that implies more than a mere patient/healer situation, but of true friendship.’
‘I know the prince the majority of my life, I have spoken to him on occasion throughout the years but during his treatments, I spoke with him more than I ever had before. I truly think he merely wanted someone to just talk to. Who knew what was going on, yet decided to still speak to him regarding matters of benign importance, giving him some semblance of normality throughout his experience.’
‘So, you were merely lending an ear?’
‘It was more than that, I genuinely enjoyed his company and the topics we discussed.’
‘So you will consider yourself his friend?’
‘In many ways, were it not for the reasons I was speaking to him in the first place, was he not my patient at those times, yes, very much so. After the feast at Lucas’ wedding, I spoke to him one of the very few times outside of him being an active patient of mine, it was by far the most pleasurable and interesting part the entire day for me. He was incredible company.’ Frigga nodded her head solemnly. ‘Can I get you anything, Allmother? Some tea perhaps?’
‘There is no great scheme to poison me with it, is there?’ The Allmother joke darkly.
‘Only a drop or two of arsenic, you know yourself, it's not as bitter as lemon.’ Cara retorted as she got the tea.
‘Can you discussed this?’
‘Not the particulars of my file and its contents, but yes, like any other being, I am permitted to discuss things, if just only titbits.’
‘He is taking it all very badly. A lot of people are being very cruel.’
‘A lot of people are very cruel.’ Cara responded. ‘They often do that with female victims also.’
‘Why?’
‘I cannot say for certain because I do not think as they think but from what I see, they do so because they are self-righteous and sanctimonious and they believe that people deserve or ask for mistreatment show their actions or inactions. It takes incredible strength and bravery to stand up to an abuser, to those who have never been abused, they do not understand and many, rather than trying to understand, forming an uneducated assumption based on zero facts or indifference of the highest degree. There are people that believe a prostitute cannot be raped, that a man cannot be physically abused, and that women who dress in particular clothing asking to be assaulted.’
‘Such lines of thought are incredibly terrifying.’ Frigga shook her head. ‘ There is a significant chance she could get away with this.’
‘Yes, she very may well. I have read more than one case were even with significant evidence, the men house walked free. It occurs with female assailants also, and female assailants also get less severe punishments based on their appearance.’
‘If she does…?’
‘Have her removed from Asgard?’ Cara suggested. ‘You cannot exile her, nor can you banish her but we can have her placed on a different realm for other reasons.’
‘I hear your father heard what Tywin said of you.’
‘I have not seen him much since then as he is currently on Vanaheim but what I have been told, it took fourteen men to prevent him and my brother from getting to a site where they could call upon Heimdall to open the Bifrost.’
‘Lord Tywin has handed in his resignation as ambassador and my husband was more than willing accept it. Your aunt has not extended her consent for him to return to Vanaheim to work either.’
‘How tragic.’ Cara scoffed sarcastically.
‘Indeed.’ Frigga looked at her cup. ‘How…?’ Cara looked at her, slightly confused. ‘Loki refuses to speak much regarding it, and when he does, I know it now to be nothing more than a facade. Looking back, I never even realised my own son was in such a situation. I am his mother and I never even noticed.’
‘He was broken and lost. I don't think even he knew how to deal with it all. You raised him to respect and never raise a hand to a woman but he was also wanted to try to defend himself, so he was incredibly conflicted. He was confused because it was also not an enemy that was harming him, this was supposed to be someone who loved him. She had him convinced that is was love and that he would never feel such a sensation again without her. That she was the only one who could ever love him.’
‘Will he...do you think she has broken him? Will he ever try to love again?’ Frigga pondered aloud. ‘My poor boy.’
‘Hopefully. It is more than likely he will leave some time before he would ever be able to consider such things or more but that's ok. He is young, he has things he wishes to do, he wants to learn if feel good about himself again, that will assist him in finding a more suitable partner.’ Cara smiled reassuringly. ‘He's an incredibly intelligent and handsome man, he will find someone who will respect and deserve him.’
‘I hope so. He is a very sensitive being, you have to be to be a seidr wielder. I was so happy when I saw him with her, I thought he had found someone. I encouraged it.’ Frigga’s guilt increased.
‘You could not have known, she was good at hiding it.’
‘But he would have felt that to say no to her would have disappointed us.’
Cara could not say anything to confirm or deny that statement since Loki has not mentioned anything on the topic of his mother's approval. ‘It does not do well to dwell on such things, we only enlarge a guilt instead of learning to move on.’ She smiled. ‘If his highness is trying to move on, he does not need his family, his very support structure, being the ones to keep him in that place.’
Frigga nodded. ‘I can see why he confided in you. You are far wiser than many thrice your age.’
‘This profession requires immense maturity and wisdom. It is not a profession for….’
‘The Lucia’s of the realms?’
‘Norns, the idea of her tending to others, for her to have to be the one to care and listen to them, that is a terrifying prospect.’ Cara shuddered.
‘You are a very interesting being. when did you feel this was your path?’
Cara smiled family, realising just how alike to his mother Loki was.
*
Cara sighed. Three days. For three days she was examined and cross-examined to see if there were any irregularities or faults in her take of events. None could find fault in her work and treatments as well as the way she documented everything, though Lucia and her family tried to imply she had. She had followed the healer’s code to the smallest comma. Lucia’s family tried to imply that she and Loki had schemed together and concocted the entire story, but the motive was non-existent. Loki had not once been in her company since and her continued manner of treating her patients and her attention to detail signified no alteration to her mood with regards them no longer being in contact with the prince. It was dismissed.
Much to Cara’s anger, Lucia was given a lenient sentence, but it did forbid her from ever returning to Asgard upon her release. Loki was forced to expose his scars and recount her actions, leaving his mother distraught, his brother irate, many shocked and him emotionally drained. If she was honest, the sleeping brew Eir seemed to be taking from the healing cabinet daily was, in her opinion, without a doubt for the Prince, and perhaps his mother after the day Loki was forced to recount everything. There was no way to persuade her otherwise, not that Eir would have told her regardless, nor would she ask.
More than once, Loki looked at Cara during her time being questioned. She did not falter, even though she knew it was distressing and in many ways, she knew he would construe it as a betrayal. All she thought of was having justice be served, to give him some form of closure.
Afterwards, as Lucia yowled like a scalded cat and the people gossiped loudly through the hallways of the palace, Cara went to the garden and sat thinking about everything. She was there until after the sunset and night descended on Asgard.
‘Cara?’ She turned to see her sister standing nearby. ‘Hey.’
‘Hello.’
‘Father is looking everywhere for you.’
‘Okay.’
‘Are you alright?’
‘No, I’m half left.’ Cara joked.
Sif groaned as her younger sister recycled their father’s cringe-inducing attempt at humour. ‘What’s up, and please don’t say the sky?’
‘I am just thinking.’
‘About today?’
‘Yes.’
‘You were good by the way, not buckling to her family.’
‘I could never call myself a Tyrdottir if I had.’
‘It must not have been easy. I never realised….’ Sif sighed. ‘Thor, the others and I, we all thought her too good for him. He looked to be perpetually miserable, and we said time and again that he was the issue, we never once considered her to be the issue. But, you knew….’ Cara looked at her sister. ‘You warned me subtly and I dismissed you.’
‘It’s done.’
‘How are you about it all?’
‘Angry, sad, happy, annoyed, everything all at once.’
‘Have you spoken to Loki since the verdict was given?’
‘I have not spoken to His Highness since the day it all came out.’
‘Really? I thought you two were close?’
‘So did Lucia and her family.’
‘I thought you just hid it for the trial?’
‘No, I was merely his healer, nothing more.’
‘Fair enough. Come on, Rhonda and Father want to have dinner.’
‘Why?’
‘You know as well as I do that it is tradition to thank heroes.’
‘I am a healer, not a hero. I just did my job.’
‘I disagree.’
‘We usually do.’ Cara joked. ‘I just need to go and write my notes for the day. I had an expectant mother I dealt with this morning before the sentencing. I have to update her details.’
‘Your job is so interesting.’ Sif stated sarcastically.
‘I think so.’
‘I envy you, Cara. You just….you’re so happy in yourself, I wish I had your confidence.’
‘I think you are either fishing for compliments or blind, Sister. You forget, I deal with the men you force to respect you on almost a daily basis. Only a truly confident being would be able to do what you do in combat.’
‘We’re not half bad, are we?’ Sif beamed.
‘Not at all.’ Cara agreed before inhaling deeply. ‘Could you tell Father and Rhonda that I am exhausted from it all and need a night to myself?’
‘Sure.’ Sif nodded. ‘Call if you need anything, alright?’
‘I promise.’ Sif nodded again and left her in peace.
Alone again, Cara continued to contemplate the day that had been.
