Some of the queer people online need to go outside and interact with trans people in person and realize that what people label themselves with literally doesn’t matter
Saying this because I’m so annoyed with all the ftm lesbian discourse

The worst thing fandom has ever done to me is make me take a definitive stance on a certain genre of discourse that I generally loathe.

Every time I’m back on my Star Wars bullshit, I’m reminded that the Sequel Trilogy is just a knock off of Jacen and Jaina Solo. We were robbed.

Lemme just.... art rant a second
What is with this trend I see going around that someone who's got really pretty art has someone accusing them of being A.I or using some A.I generator?? I don't understand...
Do I condone the use of it? No, because it's not sourced ethically and lots of people who work damn hard to make really good shit have their stuff fed into the machine and it's just spit out as learning. If they were being paid or at least asked in advance it'd be different but historically?? Not even close.
But it bugs me when I see people who make things and it's really nice and it's just assumed. I dunno. I'm still learning so much in art and it's clear my stuff is the product of happy accidents but when I see people with beautiful styles outright being accused it hurts me.

I wish they had moved on from rebels and left the ezra/thrawn storyline as ambiguous in their shadow universe. ezra's character is so fucking boring (his story is fine, but as a character, he's cardboard -- though fwiw, way more interesting than kanan jarrus -- wow, human boys as jedi). (thrawn as a character is fine)
ahsoka (the character) is written perfectly, but give me more sabine wren as a brilliant weapons tech instead of as a helpless child -- after all, this is the girl who can put together explosives out of whatever's lying around, and who built the goddamned arc pulse generator that could penetrate the impenetrable mandalorian (her own people!) beskar armour.
the new little rock/turtle/hermit crab things can stay. I like them. (I always like new species; there are always too many humanoids.)

the emperor killed ansur in self-defence when ansur tried to kill it (because it became a mind flayer, which he couldn't bear, but the emperor didn't want to be cured)☝️"he came to me as i slept - a mercy killing, in his mind. i saw the tears - i felt his grief." also, the emperor tries to convince tav the whole time as they do the trials to NOT go to ansur.
"Curing" the Emperor would just be killing it though - like I said, a mind flayer is not the person that was tadpoled, but the adult form of the tadpole itself.
I won't deny that there's a chance it retained some memories, because some mind flayers do, but usually they would be destroyed by the elder brain or else would be distressed by the condition which is called partialism. But the fact is that the Emperor and Balduran are not the same person. Any attempts by the Emperor to convince you otherwise would be an attempt to get you to trust it more.
As for the second point, the Emperor continually tries to convince you not to seek out anyone whose advice might go against its own. The githyanki creche, and later Kith'rak Voss, Raphael, etc. Regardless of whether their advice would be helpful or hurtful to Tav, it's a dissenting opinion, and the Emperor above all else needs you to follow the plan it laid out. Its primary motivation for everything is its own survival and it will do anything to achieve that. Exactly the reason why it will immediately turn against you and join the elder brain if you decide to free Orpheus.

I'm not normally a hater on main but y'all... That stangst is a lil much. I get projecting onto characters and I don't really judge it. Hence making my own post. But damn... Stan kept going because he's built like that. He was obviously at the end of his rope by the time Ford reached out to him, but he's still holding on. He wouldn't try ending his life, even metaphorically. This is the same guy who spent 30 years in his brother's stead on the vague hope that he could bring Ford back. That isn't a chance that just falls into your lap. In my heart he was waiting for Ford to make that first contact damnit. Stan would wait as long as it takes. Even if he hates the guy. Even if Ford hates him.

My last post was being snarky but here's my genuine pronoun etiquette opinion in case you actually want to know: it's pretty much never a good idea to directly ask someone their pronouns in front of a group of people, especially if you're in a position of authority, i.e. a teacher. The stakes of this question are very high for some people and you are putting them on the spot to decide what they want to share and what is safe to share. If you have decided you want to ask for pronouns at all, you can introduce yourself with your own to remind people that they can share theirs if they want to. And for the love of god whatever you do please do not just single out the most gender non-conforming or "trans looking" (to you) person and ask only them and no one else

[ID: Screenshots of Tumblr tags: #uhhh not to be *that* person but if said someone is critcizing the movie/showand not your work on giffing it perse... why do you... care... #am i an asshole for not seeing much trouble in it? #i think it's different when sb shits on your writing style in the comments of ur fanfiction sure bc thats directly linked to how you write. #if the reblog tags were smth like 'hate this color grading' or some shit like that. that would make more sense for me. #like people are allowed to be haters guys. especially on their blog?" END ID]
It's less a matter of criticism being inherently good or bad, but of etiquette and context. General fandom, including Tumblr and AO3, are not spaces that traditionally invite criticism. It's a realm of hobbyists relaxing, not necessarily artists trying to improve their craft or critics looking for intellectual debate. Sometimes people want that, because in some contexts it's fun, but it shouldn't be taken for granted. If someone wants to enjoy themselves by enthusing about a chosen piece of media, then it's polite, and again, accepted etiquette, to keep your complaining on your own separate posts. Live and let live, whether it's enthusing or hating.
For example: I hate Hostel. Loathe it. Can think of maybe two or three nice things to say about it. I've seen worse movies, more morally indefensible movies, but none that fills me with such enthusiastic rage. I post about it a bunch. I could be starving to death on a deserted island and if you asked me for my opinion on Hostel I would spend my last breaths ranting about how godawful that the movie is and Eli Roth's thundering incompetence.
I don't tag my Hostel hate posts as #hostel, though. I don't want my Hostel hate to show up in the main tag where Hostel fans just wanting to have a good time will see it. If I saw a post of lovingly edited Hostel gifs or someone's breathlessly enthusiastic meta about how awesome Hostel is, I wouldn't add a comment about how, actually, Hostel sucks eggs and this person is wrong. Because they're there to have fun; and because I'm aware of the context, I let them. Then I go to my own blog and vent in a post tagged #hostel hate or something; so I can have fun hating in a safe, designated hater zone.
Or, here's an example from the other side. I just saw a movie called Nothing Bad Can Happen, which I adored. Five-star review from me. Imagine I make this post:
Just saw Nothing Bad Can Happen, and holy heck, it was great. Like a ton of other people. I got New French Extremity vibes (which I also love). Julius Feldmeier's performance is incredible. Like in the scene where... [raving about all of the details of my favorite scene with screenshots]. Anyway, the movie was awesome!
If I thought the movie sucked, and I saw this post, I'd just keep scrolling. Then consider this post:
Just saw Nothing Bad Can Happen, and I thought it was fantastic. It's really interesting to place it in the context of New French Extremity. I know that not everyone enjoys these films (including the criticisms of misogyny, which don't come from nowhere) but I feel like that's not a central aspect of the genre as a whole. Nothing Bad Can Happen is a great jumping off point for discussing the role of male suffering extreme horror. Like, you can look at the scene where [arguments about why a scene I will describe backs up my thesis, with evidence and analysis]. Anyway, that's what I took away from it. I'd love to hear anyone else's opinions.
If I think the movie sucked and this person is wrong about everything, yeah, it would be absolutely reasonable to reblog with that opinion. Of course, I should still be polite and not just say "the movie was ass and you're dumb for liking it." But this is absolutely a space for constructive negativity. If I say that I think this person is wrong because [specific reasons] and set off a debate, everyone involved is going to be having fun, because that's what we all agreed to.
Calling media dogshit is a good fun and a god-given human right, just be aware of the context.
#this scene was so dumb #this movie sucked #this movie was garbage but-
Then don't reblog it???? I cannot keep reiterating how annoying it is for op to read these tags. Why are you reblogging things you don't like or enjoy? Keep your reviews off gifmaker's posts unless you are sharing the love and appreciation for what people are creating.

Look it's great that the companions in The Veilguard are canonically pansexual and I'm not about to tell anyone they can't romance whoever regardless what gender but come on, Emmerich Volkarin has never seen pussy in his LIFE and I just can't see him with a female Rook it just doesn't work in my head

Give me natural gods
I want stories with petty gods. Gods that are inhumane in physical nature alone. Gods that squabble and fight over petty grievances that reflect their domains. Gods who reflect both the wilderness' anger and love. Fiery beings that are wild, untamable, and wreak indiscriminate damage simply because they can't sit still, but will listen to humans tell stories and hold cooking dear. Water deities that have strong tempers and are all too willing to demonstrate their power, but are also willing to warn of their behaviour and hold skipping rocks until they are smooth and gleaming.
Give me gods that show both sides of nature.
