hi anon! I'd love to open this up to my followers, too, as I'm not suuuuper familiar with pet loss books (please reply with other recs!). that said, here are a few recs that I know of!

Perhaps the best-fitting recommendation is Dog Songs by Mary Oliver. Here's an article about it with some excerpts.

Planet of the Blind by Stephen Kuusisto. He describes his experience training his first guide dog, Corky, who passed away in 2005. Here's an interview in which he reminisces about his times with Corky.

I recommend taking a peek at this memory wall, hosted by a UK-based cat organization. It made me teary, and it's been well over a decade since I lost my "soul cat." But it may provide necessary catharsis. (Haha, cat-harsis.)

Fifteen Dogs by Andre Alexis. Greek gods give dogs consciousness in order to test theories about society and "human" nature. The dogs deal with the gamut of struggles with ethics and mortality, including both love and death.

hi thank you so much!!! i can def do my best to help here :) as far as i recall he doesn’t necessarily have the strongest fighting skills, but he’s able to succeed in combat a couple times, partly due to luck. it’s very likely that he would’ve had combat training as part of his general MI5 training so he’d at least have some idea of what he’s doing (or supposed to be doing), but afaik he’s not super skilled at it or anything.

Hello! No worries, I'm always happy to answer stuff, especially if an ask is buried deep in my blog.

So I made my comic font years ago on a website called "myscriptfont" that no longer exists. It's my handwriting! I made it like what... eight years ago?? Holy smokes. I think font technology has advanced past this but I'm too sentimental to change it after so long haha.

I don't know if I'd give it out though, not just because it's pretty personal to me but it's kinda janky. The 'i's and exclamation marks get pretty close together, the (") quotation marks don't work correctly, and ellipses act weird and I have to space them out manually. I know its quirks and how to work with them but I imagine it'd be frustrating for others. And there's probably a way for me to fiddle with those kinds of settings but I haven't tried yet.

If you want to make your own though, the site I made it on turned into the website "calligraphr" and I believe you can make one font for free when you register!

But if you want my Kirby "Forgotten Language" handwritten font, I put it here for free. :) I made that one on Calligraphr a year ago so it should work great! It's got newfangled font technology!

yah i do!! i animate a one second or one half second looping gif on csp (clip studio paint) and make sure the starting frame for both the talking and idle gifs is the same. this way they loop into eachother seamlessly.

typically i make the idle animation one second, and have four frames. the talkign animation is 1/2 second, and four frames as well, but because its loop is shorter the frames cycle 'faster'. this gives the illusion of my character talking vs chilling, because the faster frame transition makes it look more energetic!

i will say that the bell animation in the talking sprite is more like 6... 8 frames? but thats because i wanted to add a level of bounce to its movement.

this isn’t meant to be hatful at all and i’m sure you just saw me follow and unfollow, reason being ageplay makes me uncomfortable but i wanted to ask about what ageplay is to you and what parts do you find enjoyable. again this is not meant to be hateful i am just genuinely curious because i haven’t dabbled into it so i wouldn’t know.

It's alright anon. Ageplay is a very controversial kink, and it's completely understandable if you don't like it, find it creepy, or if it makes you uncomfortable. It's something a lot of people debate about and that many people see as symptomatic of an, ahem, deeper issue.

To me, the appeal is *drumroll*... that it's mostly just another flavor of "playing dumb" or really complicated cnc/intox. If in doubt, just assume it's complicated cnc.

Think about when you're drunk. Or maybe you're sober and you've never tried drugs before, in which case think about when you're tired and under a blanket. Super drowsy, an altered state of mind, super cozy and in some cases super happy. Ageplay headspace for some littles (don't get your trousers in a twist, ageplayers have used the term little for years, we can all share) feels kind of like that. It's a mix of innocence, that nice happy 'headspace' feeling, props, and roleplay.

I've been weak and 'twinkish' for the majority of my life. Autism, being born early, and being predisposed to a smaller muscle mass doesn't help at all, and in a way it makes me feel better about it. I'm not exclusively a sub in this area, but I tend towards it given the number of expectations for what a dom should look like.

Another appeal for me is, shocking (not really), that everyone here is an adult. It's like... you know how theres like, objectification, infantalization, that kind of thing? It's infantalization and being talked down to as a kink, at least for me, not about any actual age or youth. I'm sure a nonsexual ageplayer, or someone who isn't into the same flavors as me would disagree with all of my points (hopefully not the last one!), but eh. It is what it is.

I also really like being called kiddo, possibly because nobody ever recognized me as a child when I was younger (shrug)

Hi there! If you're comfortable talking about it, I'd love to hear more about your process creating Armenian OCs 😊 I've been wanting to incorporate more cultural aspects into my characters (particularly in a fantasy context, like dungeons & dragons) but I'm a bit lost about where to start. Ty! 🙏🏻

Hi! When making an OC, I work on 1. Name, 2. Appearance, 3. Personality and 4. Background. The process is the same for all of my OCs, though armenian OCs are influenced by my own experience and life more than the others :^) I go into more details under the cut!

If my main goal is the representation of cultural elements (ESPECIALLY in a fantasy setting), I focus mostly on naming and appearances. On the other hand, for characters that exist in a world similar to ours background would be much more important. I could explain the logic behind this too, but this would turn into a HUGE text and I'm trying to get to the point as efficiently as possible lol

I tried to keep this as short as possible, so if you'd like any clarifications or have any more questions, feel free to send me another ask or a dm! <333

But let's get back to fantasy! So, if I'm making an armenian coded character in a fantasy setting, I always go for an ethnic name. I feel like non-common (by western standards) names fit really well in fantasy worlds. You can also get away with using old/very traditional names because of this imo.

Appearance, like facial features, clothes and hairstyles also help to bring some parts of the real culture into a fantasy world. With facial features you have to be very mindful to not make a caricature on accident. Despite being armenian I am not safe from this also - I have to think not only about the way I perceive the character, but also about how others perceive them too. For example, Minas (my PC for da:tv and bg3) originally had a big, hooked nose and a unibrow, but I've decided to get rid of a unibrow because both of these features combined reminded me too much of some nasty caricatures about Caucasians I've seen in Russia. Despite there being real armenians, both men and women, who have both of these features, I didn't want to play into a widely spread stereotype and strengthen it with my presentation of the character.

With clothes I am also very mindful about NOT using 1 to 1 copies of actual traditional clothing - I personally find it to be in a poor taste. Clothes are a real part of someone's very real culture, treating them as a fancy thing for some fantasy wizard to wear is wrong, imo. Though elements of ensemble, its embroidery and a silhouette, jewelry and hairstyles are good things to use in a character design! I personally like mixing and matching different elements until I find something I like :^)

Other than names and appearances, if I want to hint at a character being armenian, I add traditional instruments, dances, weapons, foods, maybe even some armenian collocations or words for them to use. In a fantasy world their personality can be whatever I want it to be, just like their background. Because there's no Armenia in a fantasy world, it's important to remember that all the "armenian" characters are actually just armenian coded or armenian inspired. I basically let only the cultural aspects build and affect the character, and not the historic and social aspects (though when you're making an OC that exists in the real world, these aspects are EXTREMELY important).
